"It looks like responsibilities are shifting a little bit so will that affect dawson might affect his numbers with jonathan quick extra motivation again to just prove prove that he is still able to do it. I don't think he's slow down. I watch them in practice every day but can he readjust. I think it was happened as far as the numbers. Jonathan quick have less to do with him slowing down and more to do with the league around him scouting johnson quick and getting to know his weaknesses. So now there has to be a readjustment johnson. Quick you got it yet. It's difficult to change but to tweak his style right now. I think he probably wants to be a little less aggressive. A little bit more conservative view makes that adjustment. I think can be there nick. Any thoughts on the core for. I think kobe tire again will lead the team in scoring. he'll lead all forwards in ice time he'll be on the number one power play unit so those are two factors which are huge in determining who leads the team in scoring right and Got the track record. There we talked about in the final preseason game. It was graphic they had on. Tv about drew doughty is led. The kings is time every year. He's been in the league. He'll do that again. And there's no size that his game is falling off. So i expect dowdy to be doughty again. Round is the oldest player on the roster. He led the team at age. Thirty five last year in goals with seventeen nine of those were on the power play. Which is jim alluded to was was outstanding in the first half but it tailed off towards the end. And i'm going to go back to what i told you jesse the last couple of years when guys like co petar in brown art top scorers every year. That's when you become a better team. Because of the transition kings are in in other words. Some the younger players have to start. You know carrying the load and being the guy and that's to me more in tune for brown as opposed to copay tires a little younger. I think he's still got two or three more really good productive years left so that would be my take on route in for quick. You know we love the guy right. He's helped with us to stanley cups but again he's played a lot. And if cal. Peterson is gonna get the opportunity to be number. One quick may not have the opportunity to get the numbers that were accustomed to seeing him. Get now if he gets out of the gate quickly wins first three or four starts. Obviously todd is gonna play him more than cal and who knows what happens the rest of the way so as far as what we've seen in the past yes for forgo in dowdy i think probably a decline a little bit of a decline in brown and quick is next question. Jim sir touched on a little bit. We'll start with you this time. Nick at question number six will the power play provide consistent offense as jim pointed out it started out. Strong last season tailed off. As the season progressed. New players new alignments new offensive Focus on intensity. Shall we say or pressure How will the power play performed..

"I would not personally like them to be waived but they say like well put lozad on an wagner way resented montero. So you can play. You know qatari in by field eight minutes tonight on the fourth line you know. Easy peasy nice lemon squeezy problem which i always say like sure. But austin wagner is making over a million dollars a year and there's no discount if he sent to the ahl and. I understand that the rain don't have to pay that salary but sending a guy making over a million dollars to the ahl to not play top line minutes in the ahl is insanity not especially at that age. I think you've seen it happen. Where guys who are at the end of their careers have to do that. But i think when you have a younger team you don't see that all the time and i agree with zach that you don't know when it's going to happen but most likely the kings are going to be able to move somebody for pick down the line. Somebody's gonna say. Hey we've got a fourth rounder. A fifth rounder despair and the la kings are going to say you know what we're gonna use that and we have too many players and you know somebody who doesn't make the team whether it's like you said right away during camp or maybe in the first month of the season. Somebody's the odd man out and you don't wanna lose somebody for nothing so i think that would make sense but i mean you you never know. I think it's just. I don't envision any young players who are making that much money and when i say young under thirty to be playing for the ontario rain because i don't know if that makes sense for the rain side of things either i mean they wanna try to have those young players and develop them as well and you have a guy that's kind of an odd man out in that scenario. I don't know if that helps the atmosphere of that locker room either and the problem is Jack is at this point. There's like seven odd men out As we said. I follow copa and this should not be taken for line compost running up names. Follow copay arvidsson brown cambay. Athen issue velocity Trevor more I think those guys are. Please fill in a name. If i've left went out. I think those guys are the closest thing to lock you have at ford. Making the kings team i anderson dawn. I don't know if you mentioned him. I didn't because i don't. I wouldn't say necessarily lock carlgren's from oslo. Anger brendan lemieux leash. Anderson blake was jared anderson. Dolan martin for vladimir cheb. And that's ethnicity you. I think i listed him as one of the guys. That's close if i did but that's a that's a lot of names right like leash anderson blake carlgren's from austin wagner. Brendan lemieux vladimir kotov martin. Firkh all yeah. And what our many extra forwards they want to carry carry eight defensemen in this becomes even more complicated so again bringing this up is just because i keep seeing these conversations where people are like you wave them all and sent him to ontario. And it's like well okay but tynan's not playing less than eighteen twenty minutes a night. Kelly is gonna play full minutes. Turcotte's gonna play full minutes. Turcott looks great to me. I love him but he's not coming up to nhl to play fourth line minutes. Same thing with me. I mean they wanna get tyler madinat to pari whether or not by like you're just not sending five guys ontario to then and again i brought a first name like martin burke is he you know people like while whatever third-line ahl we'll he's making seven hundred thousand dollars. Whereas alex cotton arthur galley. We're making seventy thousand dollars. It's not the end of the world is not my money but again collectively..

"Should be perfectly clear. At this point. There are too many names to remember of the top ones head so then becomes who will be put on waivers and if any of them are put on waivers will anybody. It doesn't matter if they're going away present down because that's whatever the question is anybody be claimed like thomas hickey. We mentioned earlier There is no answer to that question. But i'll just couple the other question along with right now. Which is will there be any traits because the way you avoid waiver claim which they did not do when it came to thomas hickey and they probably should have. Is you trade those pieces off. So if you have ten guys that can play on the left side of the defense and ten guys. That could play center. And you don't wanna lose them for nothing. The solution is trying to find a partner I personally am anticipating trades. I won't say by the end of training camp. I'll say by november first because you know camp lap and things will get sorted and you know every year every team puts a bunch of guys on waivers. So i think that's probably the least likely time to worry about a claim although thomas hickey if memory serves was claimed coming out of training camp but zac Do you anticipate guy do some trades of assets from the la kings between now and again. We'll say november. I not the camp. You can see it right because of the where the kings have depth. It's in areas. That have guys who have played. Nhl games and who might be of interest somewhere else in exchange for a draft. Pick right in lieu of putting on waivers. Maybe maybe there's another team who likes a depth piece on the kings who the kings view as the fifteenth forward or the and you can get a draft pick for that. I could see it. I think like you said like it's every team all these players on waivers so you can look at it two ways. Is it the best time to put a guy in waivers because there are so many other names that might sled him slide through or is it the worst time because teams might have openings when they themselves put ten guys on waivers. So it's it's interesting waivers to me is like this. Mythical thing that everyone thinks every player's gonna get claimed and ninety percent of the don't yeah because they're only so many roster spots and you realize it other teams are putting guys on waivers because they have the full roster so i i always leaned to say no someone will get claimed on waivers but you could see the logic behind a potential trade of maybe an asset out and jerry. I'm gonna go to you on this one. Because i remembered the name. I left off of the ontario rain players list which is tj china Who was the h. l. mvp last year. And the reason. I bring all this up is because again. I hear these conversations on hear people saying well you know and i'm just going to throw out some names. I don't anticipate them..

"Where i'm from so that was How kind of went down and Advance wise. I knew a couple of days in advance that it might be possible but until you know a couple of picks before It was between you know a couple of different players so it was maybe ten minutes before the pick that we were for sure. I was for sure but going to do when you got a chance to turn your phone back on or get away from the podium. Where the how. Many text messages from From people watching there loss for sure in video hear from lots of people you run across over the years and people are genuinely excited and Happy for you whenever and You know it was It was a good moment for me and my family to to experience that and you know after that you kinda get right back to work and the draft keeps going and kinda back into it so something all appreciate Very much for a long time Happy that That kind of came off that way. I'm sure you're already At least have a list for two thousand twenty two about two thousand twenty three two thousand twenty four wins work beginning ernest on next year's quote unquote next year's draft whenever next year is Yeah we're we're starting to get things together. We've had some summer Stuff that you know. We don't put a honestok into but it kind of builds Who to watch lists so we're getting into that. So we kinda get geared up again Halfway through september and some rookie camp stuff some meetings and then on The leagues are going to start up in october. So you know it's not We're about a month away from from really being at games and We really focus on this year's draft and we're aware of some of the top players for the years after but as far as doing lists and and checking balances for years other than this draft year It doesn't make to to us. That doesn't make a lot of sense to waste energy and time on the year after year after so we're kind of mostly focused on on this year's upcoming draft last question. I'll let you go. I appreciate your time Did you get a chance to watch any of death camp in if you did. What did you think of brain clark. Yeah no i did. We have a way of watching on video here that they send out to us. It's very good So i thought he was solid a camp. I thought that was his game. What what was what was seen in how he played and Like all the players we just had a call with our development guys Yesterday going over each player and how everybody did it camp but You know. I thought that the younger guys are a little bit nervous. First time guys at camper a little bit nervous to start and they usually get better as the week goes on and i thought that was the case with him. Excellent chris thank you so much for joining me. Appreciate it anytime thanks..

"Yeah i don't think that's that's not really the process for us of one scout winning or or you know we we want to get the best player. We want to make the best pick for our team so the the fact that a player comes one area or not or one league or you know at a certain points. There isn't your own list and your own aerialist. Everything's merged into one And as you go on different scouts have more saying let's say and different management pieces have more saying let's say and different general managers at different teams have more sand the draft or less than the dry so it depends on the situation but We're not picking players at the top of the draft without a unity on our staff and majority of our staff thinking the same way and for the pick. We made with clark you know. Our guys really liked him especially at the at the age whole it seems like in recent years. There's been a premium on skill but also sort of a hidden focus on character. Lots of guys aware letters. Lots of guys that play for international teams gangs xining headway back to back years with nine players representing them at the world. Juniors this year could be nine again. If not more the fact that clark and pinelli both chose to find teams overseas to go play for.

"So obviously right off the top of the sixteen year old he's gonna kinda spark interest He had a slower first half and a six year old year and he had a very good second half sixteen year old year. And i can next remember watching a game with Rob blake us into watch. Somebody else's at all your. Here's a kid a a pretty good player and you know for next year's draft and You know so. We were aware of him as a sixteen year. Old of the top player coming into the oh l. and Have kind of enjoy watching human that year which we could have seen a more live Last year there's always a lot of speculation in any draft year. What players will be available when your team gets to pick you know. Who will they take. What's their internal ranking system. Not gonna ask reveal all of that. But from the king's perspective did brand. Clark fall to number eight you know. Were you excited. That he was still available when it was time for the kings to make their pick. Well definitely excited about getting him and You know evening out our prospect pool a little bit with the defenseman We're not picking for position. Obviously but the fact that it was in the wheelhouse where we were was was a good fit for us as well and we like player. We obviously liked them to go over our list. Obviously we're not gonna do that but You know i. It was the type of year where it wasn't surprising. Crew went in that in that first group of eight or ten. I think different people publications central scouting. Whatever had different rankings of all the players kind of after Maybe power so And i think power solidified himself at the world championships as as the the first pick in the draft but After that i think teams were vastly different. And who had what player. where so. We're happy to get him at eight and Guess are now it's our development Crew and and and our coaches that are going to get to mould him going forward. Wanna talk about that defensive. Stick that you mentioned There's a tweet a week or so ago. Bringing up eric. Carlson numbers from two thousand fifteen and they pointed out that his winds over placement is offensive events. Percentile powerplay percents Finishing brazil all of these different aspects of his game were ninety nine or one hundred percent down league but his even strength defensive impact was the was a bottom eleven percent. And you know as a kings fan. I've been hyper aware of the drew. Doughty versus erik carlson debate. And you know. I was pointing out that air carlson..

"Yeah and for us. Obviously picking them in the spotlight picked him we. We don't think it's a limiting or or efficiency that is gonna hinder or stop them from playing Yeah that that is When we talked to our development guys and we talked to two other scouts. That is an issue that we obviously had to sort out I think when we did Go back and forth with our group. It was okay. Well let's go back over his games and his video and the video. We have from him last year video. We have of him in europe and the video we have from him at the under eighteen championships. And let's see your show me the instances where skating hurt him or where his skating limited him for making plays or being able to send so. Let's pick out all those spots so when we went back there weren't quite as many as we thought there were and You know for us. It's a bit walkie but yeah he gets there He's willing to work on on his efficiencies he's willing to put the time in. I think once his base in and you get stronger in his core. He's gonna be able to escape harder longer. And you know He isn't going to be a pretty skater. But i think his sense and skill and compete level or going to allow him to still be a really good nhl player. So that's the ten percent have had to focus on it because it keeps getting brought up. And i just felt like it had to be said but let's focus on the ninety percent. Good had a chance to talk to brandt a few times. I i i really enjoy talking to I find the fact that he clearly is two or three sentences ahead of himself in his internal monologue. His brain seems to move a lot faster than his mouth. I love guys like that. What did you like about his game. And an sorta follow up or precursor question depending on want tackle it..

"Nhl entry draft at difficult because he eh didn't play in the oh l. This season he went and played overseas. So instead we've reached out to the scout that announced the selection crisper. How're you doing today. Chris very well thank you. Thanks for having me my pleasure. So let's talk about you. i for some background. How long have you been a professional scout or an amateur scout at professional amateur. Scouts are those poorly france I don't know if the guy sam real scout or not probably about six or seven years. I've been with the king. So i think it's it's about the amount of time and i've recently sort of don down this rabbit hole of talking about scouting because i've noticed so many different independent scouting services popping up. I don't know what the right word for. It is but on social media on youtube on twitter etc. It seems to be a growing point of attention and i was talking to mike mckenzie. Head coach of the kitchener rangers. And we were talking about you..

If you even want those sorts of things available in the future kings talks episode. For example we have the opera know we have the ability and the opportunity to make those available to you. The following day But again don't clutter up the feeds so the people get overwhelmed. So you're listening to this. Let me know if you want to hear those sorts of things at later on. We have an interview with chris. Byrne very happy to talk to him about brandt clark and the draft and the entire process and scouting etc that for relaunching to all of that. Now they've sort of laid out the plans. Moving forward wanted to talk a little bit about the past because it occurs to me or it occurred to me earlier this summer. That as i said. I've been ou- been doing this. This'll be my fifteenth year. Doing a podcast about the la kings and it's now part of my job. I have other responsibilities. Besides yapping no microphone but it certainly part of my job and it never used to be. Well i shouldn't say never use the. It wasn't when i started when i started. It was a hobby. When i started. Gosh i don't think. I had a job when i started. I was in a weird place. I wasn't really sure what direction to go into next. I wound up getting a job. And i did this sort of on weekends and evenings and as i said because you guys and because of the support and and patience can of shown. I now find myself doing this fulltime. Which is amazing again. Incredibly incredibly lucky. But as looking back. And so i dug up the very first episode that we recorded back in september two thousand and seven wanted to play just a little bit a little clip of it because it struck me. It's almost two minutes into the very first episode And it's something that That was important to me to hear myself. "Jesse cohen. This is all the king's men. It's been a while since we've spoken. I wanted to give a little bit of break from the end of last season to the beginning of this season because we have a bunch of changes. I wanna talk about them. Here give you guys a chance to prepare for all the new content. We have planned for you this season. It should be a fun season lot of changes on the ice hopefully a change in fortunes for the club moving forward and a lot of changes off the ice which i'm going to introduce to you now at least some of them so again. Hopefully you'll come along for the ride. Hope you enjoy the changes. This is now. I think my fifteenth year of doing podcast for the kings. It's been a wild ride. I never expected it to wind. Appear and honestly i have everybody listening to thank for that I'm incredibly lucky. And you guys have played a huge role in that. So thank you thank you. Let's get into the changes podcast platforms. There's not is not these are not big changes either. small changes. obviously all the king's men still exist will continue to exist. We're gonna start doing one for me. One for you plan monday. Every monday morning there will be a new episode Will it'll be heavily. Segmented scheduled will have more interviews Less of the sort of free flowing conversations. That's i know a lot of you. Enjoy those will still happen. They'll just be later in the week. So for example. If you like it. When i talked to my dad i still plan on talking to him all the time. If you like. When i talked to peter russo or whomever. I've got a couple of guests lined up. That are crazy and have nothing to do with hockey per se. We're still going to do all that but mondays every monday. We're going to have a weekly sort of review episode where we take back you know. Take a look back at what happened will sort of like i said heavily segmented interviews etcetera. We're also gonna tackle post-game episodes in a totally different way Tova was a really difficult Spanner in the works. I it sort of ruined a lot of our our methods of doing things are you know are our comfort level so not really sure who's gonna be available. Obviously dave joseph. No longer around. Can't participate jack. And i will still be available to participate. Not sure how free carlin is gonna be so post game. Episodes will happen. If there's a huge game. You know philip. Denounce scores hattrick in his first game at staples center. Obviously we will have reaction episode for you right away but generally speaking. I think my preference is to do the day after. It'll give me a chance to sleep. And also maybe not react to terrible losses right away. It'll give us a chance to get some quotes from coaches from players. Maybe get some feedback from the fans so we will try and do post episodes for every home game if not every road game but don't me to that but the monday we episodes and later in the week maybe not every week having to but there will definitely still be room for me to talk to people like my dad and whomever the half whoever it might be next up. Is the rain check. I would encourage you. Autism scribe to the rain. Check if you haven't already..

There's a lot of players <Speech_Male> that <Silence> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> find <SpeakerChange> themselves <Speech_Male> in a depth chart <Speech_Male> of who <Speech_Male> knows we'll be in a few <Speech_Male> years and we know things <Speech_Male> can change quickly <Speech_Male> but in <Speech_Male> terms of <Speech_Male> the invitees will <Speech_Male> thought was most important <Speech_Male> is everyone fit <Speech_Male> in well in <Speech_Male> there was no glaring <Speech_Male> absences <Speech_Male> or <Speech_Male> or <Speech_Male> people that you <Speech_Male> didn't necessarily <Speech_Male> fit into the skill <Speech_Male> level so it <Speech_Male> was great to see <Speech_Male> everyone <Speech_Male> had a <Speech_Male> campaign. It'll <Speech_Male> be interesting to see where some <Speech_Male> of these names are. <Speech_Male> In a year <Speech_Male> that were either camping <Speech_Male> by tease or <Speech_Male> players that <SpeakerChange> we have <Speech_Male> a in the depth chart <Speech_Male> and the real <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> test i think will be <Speech_Male> if any of them are invited <Speech_Male> to rookie camp <Speech_Male> Because i <Speech_Male> don't think. I don't <Speech_Male> think they'll have enough <Speech_Male> to make a full roster <Speech_Male> could be wrong but <Speech_Male> currently <Speech_Male> the kings <Speech_Male> are at the fifty <Speech_Male> contract limit. Now <Speech_Male> samuel helena's <Speech_Male> finland <Speech_Male> to that one slide. <Speech_Male> So they're down to forty nine <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> There's a ninety <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> player limit as <Speech_Male> far as you know. <Speech_Male> Reserve lists <Speech_Male> at believed the kings are <Speech_Male> at sixty six. <Speech_Male> So i mean there's <Speech_Male> definitely room <Speech_Male> to play around <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> and but it comes <Speech_Male> dicey when you've got these <Speech_Male> invitees because you have to <Speech_Male> give contracts <Speech_Male> and obviously <Speech_Male> the kings are <Speech_Telephony_Male> butting up against <Speech_Male> that limit. You want some <Speech_Male> flexibility in <Speech_Male> case you need to make a trade <Speech_Male> or <SpeakerChange> sign somebody <Silence> in an emergency so <Speech_Male> we're <Speech_Male> gonna wrap it up with a little bit <Speech_Male> longer than i wanted but <Speech_Male> But wanted <Speech_Male> to get all those players <Speech_Male> actually apologies.

I would not ever be surprised to see him in the nhl But what is the end up feeling. And i don't think it's a lock and we're gonna move to the draft picks wanna kinda goes through. This quickly restart with the with brian. Clark and jared. I've said this before. This probably be new to you most of my life. I have not paid attention to skating. I don't know why it just never stood out to me. Something to pay attention to. It wasn't until kalema. Kerr made a move in the playoff. Swear he was lauded. It was lauded for basically moving the top half of his body and the lower half body in different directions while while moving through the zone with carrying the puck throwing off all the defenders because they couldn't tell if he was going the direction is were facing the direction as hands removing or the direction. His feet removing and saw brandt clark during some of the scrimmages and i thought to myself located not as good as calma car doing that but he seems to be moving in three different directions while almost not moving at all and i thought to myself well. I'm not going to say this out loud. Because i don't wanna say something insanely silly like. Oh he kind of reminds me of killing car. But then jim fox said it and so now i feel comfortable saying it out loud and giovanni said what i was thinking. Which is he's not as good as calma car because camera cars insane but does that sound like an insane statement to say. That brand clark looked like eighty percent of camel car in the scrimmages and practices you so well. I think that i know exactly the play. You're referencing with chemical in the playoffs. And yeah incredible. And i think to even make the comparison of brain clark right now is not something i'm going to do. I run up. That is probably not fair for kings fans. Because i don't want them thinking that that's the case maybe brandt heart turns into an outstanding all star. Defenceman that can happen but camera car is like a leading skater in the world for so i think i think that what was exciting for me is to see someone who and a lot of the guys who were in. The category talked about how they had some nerves. They in their first development camp. They weren't really sure what to expect. They were kind of hesitant about things. I did not see that from rand car so for a guy who just got drafted. The youngest group of players that was in the development camp. He stood out as the best defenseman for me.

"He's an intriguing player for for canes fans to watch -tario that drill that they did on thursday hydros thursday right where they put the two nets in the corner and they're doing too on three yup ten feet apart. The nets were And dudas were noticeably amped up when their team scored when their team ultimately won. T black had dewlaps so much. So that when they did scrimmage on friday i predicted team white would win based exclusively on the fact that they had clark fog indigenous because i was like all right for whatever. Reason those yeah. Those dudes seem to really care They were like they. I'm sure there are other guys cared. But for whatever reason those guys left out at me am an ingham also seemed really upset when black loss which is interesting. Those three guys were invested in a silly little thursday morning drill in a way that the rest of jared. I'm i love to hear the details them. Those who don't know jarrett was able to travel with the team thursday on their beach day excursion and was bringing the players up to zoom room. So jared has already had far more exposure to all these players than any of us. We're gonna jump to the next two guys Together because they're both giants. Ns johan's soda. Grand and andrei lee to giant swedes. i really like soda different. I couldn't tell you i am. I was happy. Jim fox seem to agree with me. That soda looked good Our our friend air loved andrea lee. Jared anything standouts you about those two guys other than the fact that they're both. Mammoth i think. I like both of them. I think there are a little bit different in their games. Like lied to me. Seems like someone who's very comfortable in front of the net and comfortable using that size to be a problem. Fine loose pox when they're available and his hands were were good for such a such a big strong guy skated well enough for that for that size as well but he just seemed like an and really especially on a skill factor he finished. Play like to jack's point about doodles. Not finishing lee was i mean. He made a couple of really nice moves and he was comfortable. I thought sorta Stan stood out as well But he wasn't that. Guy who can really clamp down in front of the net and just get after and i thought he was. I thought he was good. I thought i liked the way he skated. You could see that. He's kind of getting into that little bit older as you call them veteran type because he's been there he knows the players and he's had some injury issues. I don't think he played two games on all last year but arms training camp. Yeah you could see that that he was comfortable in that type of setting and one of the the more skilled than and better players out.

Are You Actually Kinky?

"Lately there have been some truly salacious stories on the news about powerful celebrity men who've crossed some lines with women they were dating and these have been sort of aftershocks of the metoo movement. Where these new accusations. I'm thinking of armie hammer. And the allegations of abuse and resume or marilyn manson's rape room brought back this important conversation on the ways that power and fame can be abused but the fascinating thing this time as the way. These celebrities have responded to these accusations because the reply is essentially. Oh no you don't understand. That was consensual. We are kinky kink is one of those things that's hard for people to understand myself included. Because i think for a long time i was like whatever you have your shit you do behind closed doors and that's your business. I don't really feel the need to interrogate too deeply beyond a basic sort of understanding. That shouldn't shame anyone else's kings you know and so when the internet seized on the gripping details of army hammers supposed cannibal fetish as like. Should we even be lampooning. This is this a legitimate kink. Would there be a right way to do this. But then i realize everyone was talking about. What a wild fixation this cannibalism thing supposed to be and there was much less focused on what army hammers accusers. Were actually saying about their relationship. Which was fetish or not. Their relationship started one way and then it took this turn we at the cut. Believe these women who are making these accusations and we believe that the men they were involved with are hiding behind the mantle of kink because kink isn't an excuse for abuse but in order for us to understand where the lines actually get crossed as a culture. We're going to have to engage with the ideas of kink much more fully in all of its richness and deep deep complexity. We understand that like you can be like vicariously like excited by violence even though real violence is disgusting. And you don't want to actually hurt people but it gets like framed in this way where it makes it sound like if somebody is kinky there beyond criticism and that's not what it means. This is lux traum. And i am a longtime sex educator and an abuse survivor someone who thinks a lot about abuse kink i think people think oh la king is choking people and kids like leaving bruises on people and can be but that's not really what it is so what is case. Everyone i talked to had a different way of explaining it. What keep means differs for different people will kick is a very specific subset of the arabic and it can mean a lot of things. If one feels that one is kinky then one is kinky for lux alp. Traum kink is very much about consent in a kink. Situation it might. It might look like the dam has all the power control but the real control lies with the submissive person. Because it's not the purest iteration of like safe consensual kink. Unless you can say no or say you're safe word or say whatever and make it all stop immediately. This is a very clear dividing line right for armie hammer. The women said stop and he kept going for marilyn manson. It was an entire lifestyle. Where if you said. Stop your punished more. But just like an all consensual sex kinky or not. There's a lot of nuance and negotiation. That needs to happen between the people involved. And it's all within this context of wanting to be giving there's so much pressure on you to be compliant too. Please your partner to do all these things. That has nothing to do with king but when you are in a kink environment that can like be taken to the nth degree because so much of kink about exploration about going into a known taboo terrain you have to be on the same page. There's these moments where i'm like. Oh or like. I would be surprised with the thing that i had never expressed interest in. I maybe didn't wanna do it. Don't think there is this bright dividing line between abuse and kink. All this stuff is just like there's no like three step guide for like dealing or there is but it's like talk to people have conversations like be willing it's the easiest thing in the hardest thing to hurt the ones you love to act out scenarios aren't normally like you to play with power. It's playing with fire. Really and yet culturally kink doesn't talked about with gravity until something goes horribly wrong gets whispered about as the super freaky unspeakable thing or it has a reputation of being a gonna dorky form of adult dungeons and dragons. You know like something. Couples try to spice up their marriage after reading fifty shades of grey. I think it's almost jumped straight from being arm. Something that's forbidden to being a cliche and being a joke and we skipped the part where we look at. It has to be taken just as seriously as anything else would do as humans. And i think that was part of what we were hoping to do with this analogy

YouTube TV: drop all sports channels please

"We're here to talk pocketbook stuff today on talking tech that you've heard me say over the last few months how concerned I am with both the rising cost of cable and streaming youtube. Tv cost thirty five dollars monthly in twenty nineteen. Now it's fifty dollars monthly. The reason all those sports fees that. I don't WanNA participate in so I found it rather bittersweet this week when Youtube announced it was dumping some forty two regional teams from its network due to excess pricing demands from Sinclair Broadcast Group. Which owns the streaming rights to games from the New York Yankees in La Kings for example? Good Move Youtube. But where does this leave us? I got some ideas. I'm Jefferson Graham. And you're listening to talking Tech Youtube. Tv is one of a handful of cable. Tv alternatives aimed at streaming fans. Who want to pay less for fewer channels than cable. I'm a youtube subscriber and the last I look. I'm still paying fifty dollars monthly for the service which as good as it is is still drastically overpriced. I liked it. I get the broadcast networks and the news channels but there are so many channels. I will never watch from cozy and Smithsonian to TNT TBS and especially the sports channels. I don't know where they are. I've never turn them on. Don't kill me but there's some of us who just aren't interested in sports and happened. Feel strongly that they shouldn't have to pay for it if they don't watch that's why I like Filo td a streaming service aimed at non sports fans with sells for twenty dollars monthly. How do they do it? No sports fees. Well that's all well and good but there's no news channels either and I need that so scratch. Filo Youtube decision to stand firm against the rising costs of sports is a good one but because it didn't lower the monthly fee doesn't help me so. I have an idea. Get rid of all the sports all of it. Put It on a separate here for the fan. Who wants the programming? Let me subscribe to Youtube for what I want. I'll be happy and not subject to the endless contract battles which nine times out of ten seemed to involve sports fees. I know I'm dreaming here. But it's my dream and I'm entitled to

Detroit, Detroit Red Wings And Hockey discussed on 31 Thoughts: The Podcast

"If you hadn't won the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings. How would you look back on your career? I don't know. But certainly winning it capped it all you know. I mean you move on. This is something bigger in our life than just playing hockey. And even what we wanna do, you know? But I know now that you never know what it takes to win until you when you think you do every hockey player every athlete for our and I want to win and. In hockey such a team sport. You wanna play a win you want to be successful? But you wanna win and everyone of us play better when we wanna win. But you really don't know what it takes until you win. And I think that's for me. Even after my after career, I take those lessons. I learned in Detroit every single what does it take them? It takes everyone like when I was in Detroit. And I got in Detroit, I can give you a quick story LA kings versus Detroit. So the year before when LA we had a good team. We beat Detroit actually and silly things. This is one nutrition started being kind of people were talking about. And we chipped in to buy shakes guys doing protein shakes post game. So we went to management's look at while buying shakes you'd think at team would pay kind of just ask. And he said, no, we don't have a budget was. Okay. So all the guys were every month different veteran would vita shakes for the team. So the next year I go to Detroit, and I get to Detroit the nets about two weeks before cap, and we're skating and Turner comes to me, and he's got a no, Pat, and he says, you know, what's your workout with chain? And that's why I like to do this post game. I like to do this. He goes Cerny machine. Unia go down. What you if you remember Detroit a gyms, right? You got everything. And this is great any asked me do drink any protein, shake, I go. Yeah. He goes. We'll what brands on like, I don't know. I figured timeless call ES. You know, what flavor flavor vanilla draw brace? He writes down egos. I'll have it tomorrow. You're gonna have like my own brand, you know, like, you know, my own flair. He goes, don't worry. We want to help you. You're here to help us win a Cup and he walks away. So then the next day. I come in the little girl that worked for their foundation. Every team we sign autographs time journey year. Four five times, she says the same thing. Just really nice had little no pants. You know, we do autograph session. We do these things. And I think they were doing stuff at the time where you'd sign your steaks, and whatever they give you credit against the store. She says all the guys like sign them. We had the big signing. We do three years. She goes one you like to do it. I dunno known. I've make Joe non game this. We would never do that. But she says some guys would rather do them before breakfast after practice some guys don't want to do it the day before the game. I'm like, why don't care as whenever it's easier for you. If it's as long as it's known game, damn, okay? And if you give me a couple of days, I'll do it. I go, thanks. She was no problem. She goes which want to help you. She says we want to make your life as possible, you know. So you can help us win a Cup. She walks away. I'm like this whole thing of this entire organization was so ingrained on what their goal was an everybody works. And it was like these nice kind gesture, but it kept reminding you that that's what we all in it for. And then when you win you realize that it's not just a team is not just the players. Not just it's everyone, you know. And it takes everyone to be successful. And that's why you know, I think Detroit is had such success for so long because everybody was on board. It was it was really interesting for me to see and to live that.
