"We took him on. But these concerts that great work in advocating for HIV aids and raising much needed funds to ensure that people throughout South African especially the underprivileged people got access to these. Now, you talk about Queen tell us about the. Yes. Mr Mandela and Queen Elizabeth, of course, I shared a very warm friendship when we're having teed was very casual as opposed to what we think of all the practical and formalities and arriving in back in palace once for courtesy. Visit Mr Mandela walked to the Queen to greet, of course, on the red carpet, and Mr. Manila had a very wicked sense of humor. But it could also sense in a room if they was tension or people were being uncomfortable. So he found a way to try and break that tension and diffused the daingean in the room. So you walked up to Queen Elizabeth when he saw extended his handedness it Elizabeth look at you you've lost weight and the green biz dot loving. It's probably the elephant in the world that commented about her way and managed to get away with it and afterwards mister Manila's wife, MRs grass, Michelle she actually said in. But now now now now now she called improper she didn't know, Barbara you. You can't call in Elizabeth. I mean, she's the Queen of England. You can't call it lesser, Beth and madiba looted quite surprised. And he said, I don't understand why not because she calls me Nelson. So yeah, that was the Niger of the friendship they were really unfair phantoms, and he considered an equal. And and she enjoyed that. Now. Of course, he was getting increasingly fragile and it became more difficult to see him as his family kind of took over. There was a lot of bad blood between some members of the family, you acting as the gatekeeper became very unpopular with some of them. And it was an awkward situation was very awkward situation. But what I tell people is that it's like, I'm thinking of your own family. You know in my extended family, these people that have never gotten along with and I never will have a good relationship with some family members. And it's like that in all families, and I needed to remind myself that I was merely an employee and I needed to keep my distance about the fact that he relied on me so much was. A matter of great discomfort to some of his family members. And also the family members that didn't share a warm relationship even with him. So it is it was very very sticky and difficult and Macy's situation. But I said to people even today, I try and compete, and and think of myself in my own family context, and that they may be people in my family that dislike me, and it's the nature of personalities then he was in hospital. It was clear that he wasn't going to last much longer. Can you remember the last time you saw him? Yes. And that was on the eleventh of July twenty thirteen of course, he passed away on the fifth of December two thirteen hundred was about six months before he passed away. I wasn't departing the next morning on this annual bike ride that I put together a motorbike ride where I take group of celebrities and professional people and just as interested on this rural bike trip across South Africa formula day, which is usually on eighties on the eighteenth. July. So the weekend before we then usually go to rural areas to work in communities and try and improve the living conditions of people. And before I I was scheduled to leave the day before which was an eleventh of July. Then I decided that I wanted to Greek Mr Mandela to just tell him I'm going on this trip. And when a person is that gravely ill, you never know, you know, when the time comes, and I was concerned that I may be away and something may happen to him. So I asked MRs Michelle is wife with I could visit him, and she agreed also in adding that I had to bring a son who was in South Africa at the time he lives in Mozambique, but he was in South Africa. And she said I should bring him to hospital to come and see Mr Mandela arriving in hospital, Mr..

"But I was wearing this long race, which I hate it at that stage. Because even today I hate dressing up and getting out of the helicopter. My dress gut code around the rial of the stays of the helicopter, and I fell flat face behind Mr Mandela trying to exit the elevator. He was busy having conversation. And asked me something when he turned around. He couldn't find me at I level. And then he saw that I fell in the the bushes around us all shaking, and if you wanna. Trying to contain the lofta and selling berries. And the only thing Mr. Manila was darling did use spoil your dress. I mean, maybe with you broke an all more lake. Did you spoil you raise them later that evening, of course, as I approached him to deliver a message stream as well. I also stumbled over brick and that was supposed to keep a door open. And then after that he's sitting in rather sit down darling. The knowing that probably this night is not going to end. Well, you did a huge amount of troubling with him. And he called you his granddaughter. And in fact, you came to this part of the world you were in Saudi Arabia where huge Ana was conferred on you. Because as we've noticed here women are not often allowed into the polls of power use. That was am in. There must be before nine thousand ninety nine e-. We visit to Saudi Arabia, and as you know, those years women were not allowed to enter the palace in Riyadh and miss the money. Insisted in say that he doesn't go anyway without his secretary at that time, I was one of these private secretaries of promoted the year just before that I think and he insisted that I needed to go to the ballast with him. And it was very uncomfortable. Actually for me as well arriving at the palace, and Mr. mandala held onto my hand, which is not a custom easily accepted in Saudi Arabia that married men hold onto a single women's hand, especially not in public, but he held onto my hand to probably also make me feel safe. And we'll have to prove a point to show people that he's he was willing to respect the, but to sit an extent because he needed me to be in that meeting, and you needed me to support him during that meeting, and then we arrived to see King Fahd, and he was already an elderly gentleman by in and surprisingly, Mr. mandala vein introduced to King Fahd as he's granddaughter. And I saw the king really being puzzled. But because he this. Black man and this white lady and the black man is calling the white lady his granddaughter. So I saw it was really, you know, he was puzzled by that. And then the king actually extended his hand to me. And that is something that was a great on it to me because I think at that stage. It was only am Madeleine Albright and Hillary Clinton that check and hands with king before. And then there's the Mandela also told the king that the previous night before I left South Africa on my way to the abled. Actually, I was involved in a smash and grab incident at a robot. Traffic light in Johannesburg, and sucks. Stole my handbag off the smashing out the window of my boss. I really lift South Africa with only my boss am which was locked up in my office. Luckily, so I could access that and Mr Mandela in thought of sharing this beautiful or this unfortunate. Rod this tile with the king and a few hours later after we arrived back at the balance where we were staying the kings people arrived with a brand new handbag for me. And I mean, I thought that was such a beautiful thing to do for the king. He didn't have to worry about me. But he sold it good. You know, women cannot travel without a handbag, and he seemed these people to buy me a beautiful designer handbag of goes, and it was delivered to my hotel. It was just an incredible experience. And and something I didn't think people often year of you know, someone like the custodian of the two holy mosques. Also having showing that humanity even to European women. Now, Mr Mandela was adamant he would only stand for one and finish. His term and that was him retired..

"I was brought up by a black lady who was working in our house as a domestic work. She to me was different than the rest of the African people black people because you hope it which was in name predicted me against my brother's bullying, and for that I loved the DNA it someone that I relied on as a child safety full. She closed me. She faked me whenever my mother was at work. So I never made the connection the distinction. And that well the connection really that. All black people should be treated the way, I treat or the way I soul your abate. Of course, we treated in a different way, she wasn't allowed to use cutlery and crockery and that I never question, but you'll hope it was acceptable to me because I could Haggar would never think of doing something like that any other black people black people outside my house. I was told with people to be afraid of people who fought for the freedom, but it would be at the expense of white people. So we had a fear growing up full black people, and that's really the mindset with which I grew up and that I both into what you very aware of Nelson Mandela, particularly when he came out of prison noted all never heard the name. I was not even interested in the politics of our country. What was happening and the first time I really heard he's name was the day of his released on the eleventh of favorably ninety nine hundred. I was in our family pool and swimming. At the time. And my father called me out of the Buhl any say to me. Well, you know, we we are in trouble. Now, I see why you say the terrorist is just been released. And I also moves that he told me Nelson Mandela that was the first time I heard his name, and I really had no interest. And the only thing that crossed my mind was well this fear in my father's voice. And I thought well surely poses a threat but him being the father my dad be the father. I didn't know the significance of telling me because I'm he was the father figure that was supposed to predict me. So you ended up working from us to mandala tell us how that happened. I applied for a job in the big department of the president's office the ministry with output folio. I applied for the job in that office simply because it was situated in the head office of the presidency, which is called the Union Buildings in South Africa. I was on there at the interview on the day on this specific day when the president prison Mandela's private secretary internet. Largest for olive twenty eighteen interesting story about Kelley blue book resell value for twenty nineteen. That's kind of interesting to me. Information on the new twenty twenty landcruiser heritage that it's coming out. And that thing hasn't changed in forever. You talk about resale value. Holy cow. I will tell you this Land Cruiser resale value is just amazing. And also we each have videos of the week every week, and we've turned it into somewhat of a contest. This week my video which was actual footage of a car that made a mistake going into an automatic car wash and hit the gas instead of the brake and went through a car wash. It about thirty five miles an hour mistake, what happened on the other side? Kevin I had a pretty good one to this week. Although it didn't score nearly as well as mine. Now, you're you're quack quack video of the car wash crash was the number one most clicked on link in the entire newsletter. My my trishaw guys. Those those guys doing the trick shots where the stadium where the NFL actually left him on the field the stadium where they're going to have the Super Bowl to do some of their trick shots that guys nuts. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Let's go to Mike in LA Grange, Texas. See if we can help him walk him. Good morning, Jerry. I just bought a Honda ridgeline and four. I love it. And you loved it your review I did. And. The newsletter. They only sold about thirty thousand units last year, and I kind of two questions number one. This is good enough for a large percentage of us at what trucks if it does what we need. And it's better to drive. Does it Honda condensate? It's seems to be an astronaut why don't they promote it more. And was only thirty thousand units are are they will they stopped making it at some point. I don't think they'll stop making it, and I'll tell you and thirty thousand in the scheme of the auto industry is a low number, but Honda intended all along for this to be a low production vehicle, and and I think for a couple reasons one is it won't work for everybody because of its five thousand pound towing capacity. And so many truck buyers need seventy five hundred ten thousand that seems to be sort of the range that most half ton truck buyers need, but I you know, I I don't think it'll go anywhere. I think it's hitting their productions and it's doing what they wanted to do. It's doing what they. Wanted to do with virtually no incentives like so many other vehicles out there. You know, I think they're right on target with it. I don't think he's going anywhere. They they went away with it, as you know, when they brought it back and thirty thousand units in the United States to Honda is a good number for them. They're making good money their trucks a little pricey. You get right down to it. Because if you look at an F one fifty Hicks LT. That's got you know, a thousand pound towing capacity. It's with the rebate it's about the same price as the Honda ridgeline. But it's not nearly as comfortable truck. It's not as easy to drive. It doesn't ride as well as the Honda. So I think he made a smart decision. You're going to be real surprised how well that truck holds his value down the road even even three or four years from now. And I think that's one of the reasons the Honda kept the production numbers fairly low on it. But good job on on your choice.
