Prosecutors have been pursuing charges against Wesley shift, but the effort came up short this evening. Wesley's shift lets attorney Caleb kershner tells WTO that fairfax county prosecutors were hoping for charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless handling of a firearm, but that is not moving forward. The grand jury rejected that indictment and found that there was not sufficient evidence. There was not probable cause. Prosecutors now need to decide whether they want to continue pursuing the case. Shiflet shot and killed unarmed Timothy Johnson after police say Johnson stole sunglasses from Tyson's corner center and ran away from officers, shiflet was subsequently fired from the police department. Nick and Ellie WTO news. Fairfax county Commonwealth's attorney Steve disco, speaking out, he says he's shocked the grand jury chose not to indict. Does Kano adds he's exploring all options moving forward in the case. Charges have now been filed against a Missouri homeowner in the shooting of a black teenager in his head and his arm. Prosecutors in Kansas City, Missouri have filed felony charges against the homeowner accused of shooting Ralph Yara, a black teenager who was shot when he went to the wrong house to pick up his siblings. Andrew Lester, who's 85, now faces two felony counts. Clay county prosecutor Zachary Thompson. As a result of these charges, a warrant was issued for mister Lester's arrest and bond was set at $200,000. Jarl, who's 16 and was in the school band was shot in the head and arm but did survive. Neighbors are outraged at how it all transpired. Nobody should be harmed, shot it, or Q because they ring a doorbell. Matt piper, CBS News. Meantime an upstate New York woman drove to the wrong address she was shot and killed by a homeowner. Authorities in Washington county, New York, near the border with Vermont, say a woman was shot dead after the car she was riding in, mistakenly went to the wrong address and was met with gunfire in the driveway. It happened at the town of Hebron, Caitlin Gillis, who was 20, was traveling with three other people Saturday night when the group made a wrong turn onto the property. The sheriff says the driver was attempting to turn the car around with a homeowner came out onto a porch and fired two shots, one round hit Gillis, the homeowner, Kevin monaghan, refused to come out for about an hour before surrendering. He faces a second degree murder charge. I Norman hall, an Ohio grand jury declined to indict 8 police officers in last year's shooting death of a black driver. 25 year old Jalen walker was killed after refusing to pull his car over. He led police on a chase during which authorities say he fired at least one shot. Walker eventually left the vehicle and ran into a parking lot where he was killed. Ohio attorney general Davies. The law allows officers to use deadly force to defend themselves against a deadly threat. Walker's family has called the shooting brutal and senseless, a handgun was found inside his car. Steve utter man CBS News. The defamation trial between Fox News and dominion voting systems is still scheduled to start tomorrow a judge had briefly delayed the beginning of it today. The case centers on whether Fox defamed the voting machine company by spreading false claims, the company rigged the 2020 election to prevent the reelection of former president Trump. Washington Post media critic Eric wemple joined us on WTO to talk about what this trial could mean for Fox. I think it means for getting come up and for content model that they've had for about 26, 27 years there. And that they finally may have to look at revising how they put information on the air. What sort of traps it needs to go through in order to get there. Barring some kind of settlement of trial is set to start tomorrow with a jury selection continuing and opening statements even. We'll keep you updated here on WTO. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer has announced a move to temporarily replace California senator dianne Feinstein on the judiciary committee. Feinstein has been absent from the Senate for weeks as she recovers from shingles. Alexander Bolton, senior staff writer for the hill, tells WTO, the process to temporarily replace Feinstein is difficult and reliant on Republicans. Schumer needs to either get a unanimous consent agreement to have all Republicans agree informally or formally on the Senate floor to put a replacement for Feinstein temporarily on the committee, but already several Republicans have said they will object. Marsha Blackburn, the Republican from Tennessee, who is a member of the judiciary committee, announced this morning that she would object to any request freeing them as consent to replace Feinstein temporarily. I would go to HR and I would say I'm very happy here. I love this company or I love this agency if it's a federal job or a city job. But I'd really like to learn more and do more. What kinds of things can I do to improve my skills to increase my skills and if that HR person can't get you information, then you know it may be time to leave. And by the way, in saying HR, I know that some people work in companies that are smaller. So it may be talking to the people that work with you about what opportunities they've been given that you maybe haven't been offered. And then go back to your manager with a very specific assay. You know, I understand that bob has learned how to do some project management software and development. I really like an opportunity to learn that as well. What do you see by way of labor unions really becoming prominent again in our society? I saw one survey that says 70% of Americans support them again. That is quite a change from even a few years ago. I think people really learn during COVID that they wanted to have voice, that the workers over the past several decades, you know, in direct relationship to the demise of private sector unions have lost the ability to tell their employer what's important to them. Yes, it's always salary is always important. But flexibility is becoming more and more important. And I think labor management partnerships like organized labor can really help you feel like you have a say in what your present and what your future is with your current company. I am so encouraged when I see the young people becoming active in organizing. I think the American workforce remains the most vibrant, exciting workforce in the world. We take real dignity from our work and pride in what we do, whether it's white collar or blue collar or no collar. And when I see those young people pushing to organize, I just think it's another validation of the fact that we are an incredible workforce. Jane Oates is president of working nation, she says her organization's focus is now on urging companies to hire more people who don't have a two or four year college degree. Oats says in many cases, such applicants can do the work really well and are being stigmatized for a lack of formal education.
