Las Vegas is a slight home favorite in the game. Well, Daniel Jones's status as Giants quarterback next weekend against the Buffalo Bills. The Giants are optimistic he's going to play this after he left. Sunday's lost the Dolphins with a neck injury in the fourth quarter. Baseball postseason action heading to the bottom of the second inning in Atlanta. NLDS game number two Phillies ready for the one nothing lead over the Braves. Philadelphia leading the series one game to none. First pitch about two and a hours half for game number two. The Arizona Diamondbacks visiting the LA Dodgers. Arizona leads that series one game to none after destroying LA in game one playing Kershaw going one third of an inning. That one allowing six earned runs. The Boston Red Sox have made a move. They have fired their pitching coach, Coach Dave Bush. He's been the pitching coach of Boston since 2020 after he served three years as the club's minor league pitching coordinator. I'm Dan Schwartzman. That's your Bloomberg World Sports Update. Brian, back to you. Alright, thanks very much, Dan. Let's get to our guest, Wasserman, Max founder and senior portfolio manager at Miramar Capital. Max, so the immediate aftermath of these attacks that we saw over the weekend had oil prices higher, oil firms rising in the market. We had XLE jumping three and a third percent and defense stocks benefiting, but it may be a little too soon to talk about longer term effects. Have you been at and what say you? Yeah, well thank you for having me on. I think it is too early. You know, initially anytime you have a breakout in hostilities, a war, anything, the first thing that runs up are usually defense stocks and oil and tend to be treasury bonds. People float to safety, but after three to days four and things calm down a little bit, then the markets restore itself. So it is really hard to tell if is this going to be a long term issue where defense stocks start coming back into vogue and whether oil stocks can remain at this level. That being said, if you do see an escalation in the Middle East and it becomes more encompassing where you see Hezbollah in the north or you see Iran, then yes, I would see a long term where you would see defense stocks and oil stocks because that type of war would be much more encompassing and have implications internationally. Well, you know, of course, it does have market implications, but let's just move away that from to some extent and have a look at just generally what's going on with regards to the markets and tell me about what you are liking. What actually is Wall Street telling us about the economy? Well, I think it's given us multiple different signals. It's basically saying that the NASDAQ is definitely tied just to interest rates. Interest rates go higher than the NASDAQ seems to come down. growth So is definitely tied to the multiples are tied to higher interest rates. The rest of the markets basically if you look at an equally weighted basis, the market's black negative for the year outside of large -cap tech. it's So seen a slowdown. It's seen rising cost of capital. It's seen inflation higher, longer, more embedded into the economy. And the concern is that the Fed may have to keep interest rates longer, higher, and that has a problem for the market, especially when you have multiples as high as it is in large -cap tech. The most immediate sounds from Fed officials seem to suggest that might they pause now for the rest of the year. I mean, if you listen to what we heard from Philip Jefferson and others in the marketplace, and starting with Mary Daly over the weekend, is that something that doesn't matter that much because we're already at very high levels, and as you say, we may stay higher for longer, but would it send a little bit of confidence to markets if they are deemed to be on pause? I think if they were to see that cornflation is coming down, think I that's really the key. The Fed has not been that accurate in predicting inflation or what they're going to do with the market, if you look historically at it. But yes, the market would calm down if we thought there was no more rate hikes, and if we thought that cornflation was coming down sooner than anticipated. That gives the market a lot of appetite to into go growth. But if you go from 8 % to 4 % inflation, that's an easy task. Going down from 4 % to 2 % inflation takes a lot harder, and it takes monetary policy to change. So I think we could see a Fed that everybody's waiting on every data point to see what the Fed's going to do. But cornflation needs to come down, and I don't think you're going to see that happening until probably the middle of next year. Is it the case that right now we've seen a structural shift in the bond market? I mean, you could argue that. But if so, is that then really perhaps a recognition that finally the message has got through that we're not going back to free money, we're going back to the old normal? And what's wrong with that ultimately? I think that's correct. But the problem that we've had is not the fact that interest rates went up it's the just rate at which they went up. The acceleration is what really caught people by surprise. But if you look at the market, if the 10 -year were to break through five, five and a quarter, that could be problematic growth part of the market, just because nobody's really anticipating that the 10 -year is going to break out five and a quarter, five and a half, they think it's pretty much worth done. So any surprise the upside would cut people off guard. The short term has also put pressure on what I call dividend or income -oriented investments, because can you now get 5 .4 % on one - and two -year corporate treasuries. So that has put a monkey wrench, if you will, for anything outside of growth because now there's a viable alternative for income. We have all kinds of guests on the program, some of which are looking at three and five years down the road, asset management types. And then we have others that are looking for

A highlight from MONEY REIMAGINED: Empowering Tomorrow's Internet | The Massive Disruption of AI in a Changing Data Landscape With Frank McCourt
"You're listening to CoinDesk's Money Reimagined with Michael Casey and Sheila Warren. Hello and welcome to Money Reimagined. I'm Michael Casey. Well, this week I'm on my lonesome as my co -host Sheila Warren is on a well -earned family vacation. We're also doing something a little different as we'll be playing a few recordings of a conversation that I had with the businessman Frank McCourt at his home in Cape Cod this week as part of a book project that he and I are working on. Frank is a construction magnate, the former owner of the LA Dodgers and now of the French football club Olympique de Marseille, but more importantly he is the founder of Project Liberty, a bold, urgent initiative to fix a broken internet. A system that under the model of Web 2 that you've heard Sheila and I talk about so often has made us all subjects, serfs if you will, to a small data and rule our online lives. Our book will dive into that problem and explore solutions for how to fix it and restore a sense of agency, of citizenship in the internet age. From our wide ranging discussions this week I thought as a tease to some of the concepts we're grappling with in that book for which you'll have to wait for its publication, I'd break out some remarks that Frank made over lunch at the problem of centralized storage and the power that has given to the big platforms after the Internet's data became the most valuable commodity of all. Here he is explaining how this problem began and how now with the rise of decentralized storage solutions in the Web 3 era we might escape from it. Apologies for the chink of cutlery on China and the tapping of my keyboard in the background it's all part of this informal discussion.

This is a Bloomberg business lives. We had fight the rally in the U.S. equity market on Friday with the S&P 500 jumping about 3% the catalyst was a reported drop in long-term expectations for consumer inflation and this has some in the market wondering whether the fed is having some modest success already in cooling demand, and if that is the case, perhaps the fed will have a little ability to temper its degree of tightening and avoid a severe recession. Very little movement in the bond market in Friday session with a ten year treasury last quoted at 3.13% two year at 3.06%. The dollar was a bit weaker with the Bloomberg dollar spot index dropping around three tenths of 1%. We also have a weaker yen down about two tenths of 1% in New York trading right now trading around one 35 ten. LA Dodgers Pitcher Trevor Bauer Is Hit by Fresh Sex Abuse Claims
"This woman who was dating the LA Dodgers star pitcher, Trevor Noah, just signed a big $200 million contract and mid season last year, you saw the pictures of her face kind of bruised up and then her comments about the sex was so rough. Trevor, I met on on instagrams and private messaging each other before you know it. We were hooking up. And she showed bruises on, I think she had a black eye, you know, and she'd look like she'd been through the mill a little bit at the police precinct that night whenever she went and filed charges. But this girl destroyed Trevor, Trevor. Did I say Noah? Trevor Bauer, I might have said Trevor Noah because he's always mind that prick. Trevor Bauer, anyhow, she destroyed his season, could have been his whole career because the allegations were brutal. He punched my vagina, he choked me that he chucked me like passed out and Trevor Bauer is going. You guys don't know the whole story, okay? Then the text came out, the private text, in which they talked about. Having rough sex in which she loved it. And after the first time they had it, she wrote back one word more. And he's like, more of what, more of the choking. I got so it made me so excited when I was coming back to after you choked me. I love it. I want more. And he's going, this is the kind of girl this is. We agreed to it. We did it. It may not be your cup of tea or my cup of tea, but two consenting adults can do that.

LA Dodgers Beat Padres in the Longest MLB Game of the Year
"The dodgers held the padres hitless from the sixth to the fourteenth inning. Basically a nine inning. No hitter ramona. And the game had everything else. Besides though hitter and everything i mean i like i feel like i need a day off to recover from that like i literally watching a lot of the game then i was like you know what i gotta get my workout in. I'm gonna go for a swim. And i'm gonna try to come back. It'll it'll you know. I'll come back for the ending and then it was another two hours. After that i went for all workout swim and came back was still going like that. Even the last two innings were ridiculous. Weird things happened. So many yeah. Aj pollock was the hero again. this is how. Aj basically ended it in the sixteenth inning. At one o'clock in the morning to canada's appalled deep center the dodgers actually had taken the lead in the top of the fifteenth. Fernando with the weirdest homerun. You may see all year. Hit the ball to right field. Chris taylor leapt up to catch it off his glove and went out for a home run. That tied the game three and then. Aj wins at five three. Same two teams tonight in san diego max scherzer on the mound for the dodgers as they go for the sweep and the padres are on life support now. This loving this era of joey votto been the best first of all. Did you even remember that. I rightfully when it showed up. It did spark my memory. That guy yeah. I enjoyed enjoyed right now because this version of joey votto. In this era of joey votto has legitimately been oblast so much fun just his personality coming to the surface the way he's interacted with talked about his teammates his engagement with the fans. And let's face it man as much as i can show in a deep appreciation for a guy who's taken walks and work in counts and hit the ball the other field. It's fun to watch a guy of his His caliber hitter of his caliber. Swing for the fences have at work. Hit dinger's in the middle of a pennant remodels pennant race. And you know so many boxes. You've always wanted to check with joey votto. You finally feel like you can to complete which should have been appreciated but wasn't always appreciated about who. He is as a hitter. "Mark. Fine san of mlb dot com joins us. Now we are baseball loaded. If you listen to wilpon you know how much he enjoyed the san diego. La dodger series. And i will certainly talk about that. But i think above all else is the madison bumgarner circumstance. Madison bumgarner threw a seven inning. No hitter yesterday. And the reason he didn't throw a nine in no hitter is because it was a seven inning doubleheader as per the new baseball rules. My question is if baseball makes a rule that doubleheaders will be seven innings in certain circumstances. And you can't go nine. Is that a no hitter. Because that's the official game. Is that a no hitter. Well the elias. Sports bureau says no. They're the ones who make these decisions. for major league baseball you know if a guy throws a no hitter in the game gift suspended or cancelled for rain and the game is an official game at five innings That a no hitter. That's also been ruled as a no so You know. I unfortunately for baumgartner that he won't go in the history books as having a no hitter Would have been the first of his career But you know who cares right. I mean these are these are these are little things that You know madison. Bumgarner is not gonna need this no hitter to cement his reputation. I'm pretty sure what he did. Padres take two wins against Giants in doubleheader
"What an afternoon on. Sunday. For the padres they sweep a doubleheader from the giants and extend their winning streak to seven consecutive games. Since twenty ten s San, Diego moved to thirty one and seventeen with a couple of very impressive wins on Sunday afternoon six nothing in game one by my cleven jer three, one in game two behind some clutch hitting three relievers. Behind Garrett Richards and the padres absolutely rolling into their huge series this upcoming week against the La Dodgers. This is the wrap up show with John for and Jim. Russell. If you're not following us on social media, please do that at twitter at John Shaffer at Jim Russell. St. Over the next hour, we're gonNA hear from the manager Jay's Tingler we'll hear from my clovinger as well LS scores and we'll get you set for the massive. At PETCO Park against La the begins on Monday and six ten. But what a weekend Jim, we didn't know if the momentum would be halted as the padres didn't play Friday and Saturday, because of a false positive in the giants organization but the Padres pick up right where they were and they've won seven consecutive games. Yeah. A couple days off may have actually helped team to be honest with you and they got to sweep today. Kinda like. Easy I to me it did it to me. It felt like there's no doubt in my mind that not only the Padres, the better team, but they're going to win these games. They're gonNA to find a way to win in the second game there, and then the first game I tweet this out after the third inning, I'll like this feels like clovinger I'm just GonNa go seven complete this game type outing for him and which he did he went seven. Felt Kinda effortless almost when you look at the box score complete game seven strikeouts only one walk only giving up two hits like that's the Mike Levin show that this team traded for and who they hope they get in the postseason is a guy that's going to give you seven innings going to not allow any runs couple couple hits given up. strikeout seven plus only walk one it was it was his best as a padre so far and couldn't have come at a better time. And then game to like it was you know giant scored I there but to me I was like, all right. You know I felt that they were gonNA come back and win that game somehow, and it wasn't pretty will myers at a home run. But other than that the other ones they scored wasn't pretty how they did it but still they got the job done and their bullpen. John, this is a strength of the team. Now it's incredible because it's been nine days. So the first twenty, three games of the year, the padres bullpen was six point four, eight, the last twenty, three games coming into today two, point, seven five and the bullpen today two and two third innings of one hit no run baseball Tim Hills now three. Now he was the winning pitcher in game two drew pomeranz not allowed to run JIM this year and fifteen scoreless innings and Trevor Rosenthal was able to work around two out error committed by Fernando Totti's junior. To Work School. seventh-inning for his tenth save and third with the chargers. If there's one thing we saw over the course of these two games and maybe over the seven game winning streak is that Fernando Totti's junior is a human. You know he wasn't GonNa hit three fifty all year. He wasn't GonNa hit thirty five home runs and sixty games you know he For the first time, maybe as a professional at the big league level actually slumping, he's one for fifteen. Now, in his last five games, the Patriots won all of those games. So that's the good news.

Opening Day Arrives For The Los Angeles Dodgers
"We've got the Yankees and the dodgers in separate games in a doubleheader tonight, and they are the Vegas Co favorites this year for those who haven't seen it. What is your world series prediction at the end of this unprecedented sprint of a baseball season? Will Greenie everyone's talking about the Yankees and dodgers and look at their rosters and their stars in the Yankees Got Garrett Cole this off season. The dodgers got bets so I'm going Yankees dodgers and they're just so stacked greeny and Sprint with sixteen games. I'm not sure what's going to happen. There's a lot of crazy things that could happen in two thousand twenty. At those two teams on paper, you have to say they're the world series favorites and you mentioned bets here. Let's get back to him. I don't know that anyone was really expecting on the day before the season began for mookie Betts to sign a three hundred sixty five million dollar contract extension. What was your reaction? First of all good for mookie Betts he's one of the top players in the game at a historically great player, and he's getting to play for the LA dodgers one of the top teams when the top franchises in all of baseball and so men good for Mookie Betts and I. Think a lot of fans are gonNA. Say Oh, well, look you know. Baseball's going to be fine. Players were getting paid, but you really look at why the players were so upset. This off season, and in all these negotiations with the owners is that salaries have not been really increasing with the state of play in Major League Baseball. You look at revenues have pretty much triple. Since Alex Rodriguez's huge contract twenty years ago, franchise values are up seven x in the last twenty years, but yet our top players are still just kind of making a round the same. They've been making for decades, so mookie Betts got a great contract, but I think what you've seen is a lot of teams are spreading these deals out. He's got twelve years right there. Spreading these deals out to stay under the luxury tax. This luxury tax is a problem for major. League baseball players and MOOKIE got his, but a lot of players won't get. There's this off season.

NBA trade deadline: Winners, losers and teams in between
"Flurry of trades in the NBA a blockbuster in baseball mortar common colds to memorialize Kobe Bryant and highly visible way joined by ESPN's Howard Bryant good morning hours good morning Scott how are you I'm fine thanks is awesome aggressive deals in the NBA trade at the trade deadline who do you rack up as the winners and losers well and I'm not sure about the winners and losers of the trade deadline but certainly the winners and losers right now of the first half of the season you've got a look at the Lakers in the west and and the Milwaukee Bucks I think they are head and shoulders above everybody else how could you hold on for a moment our you know head yes government for you almost got me for a second there's got yeah Milwaukee is terrific and and they're great they're holding on the crushed Philadelphia the other night I thought coming into the season it was gonna be Philadelphia Milwaukee Los Angeles and Los Angeles Lakers and the clippers but I'm not too sure about the other two yet but we've got a long way to go I think trade deadline wise I think Miami Heat got much much better they got on great good dollar they made a very good deal with Memphis I think that Philadelphia tried to shore up of making a deal with with the warriors and de Angelo Russell going to Minnesota who knows what that's gonna do maybe there's a late run there but the bottom line is coming forward right now I still think that you've got two teams in this league disappointed the Boston Celtics didn't do anything but I think it's the box and the Lakers right now an official memorial for Kobe Bryant's been set for February twenty fourth they've been calls to make his image a permanent part of the game you even rent a Poland that did I did I read a little Twitter poll this morning which was soundly rejected to replace Kobe Bryant is Jerry west to is the logo of the NBA with cut him a cell away from the silhouette of your request yes absolutely and it would have been fitting in some ways because Jerry west was the the man behind making sure Kobe Bryant ended up with the Lakers making that draft day trade with the Charlotte Hornets and I I understand add on one on one level the need or they want to want to memorialize Kobe I also understand that the NBA has been around since nineteen forty seven and maybe it's time to create a new logo Jerry west has been there fifty years since nineteen sixty nine however I do think that if you're going to think about and I'm a new logo or and a modern logo it's probably got to be Michael Jordan right or but I got an arm and a leg yeah but I also understand the desire right now for people to feel that something should be done for Kobe Bryant after after all that happened Boston Red Sox LA Dodgers Minnesota Twins switching sports agreed to a three team trade Tuesday that's been perhaps delay it has been delayed because of some medical records Mookie Betts has what they call a generational player MVP Golden Gloves traded to the Dodgers are the red Sox making the worst roster decision since they sold Babe Ruth's contract well if you red Sox fans are very happy about it especially because it's a generational player Mookie Betts is a beloved player two years ago he wins the M. B. P. and they won the World Series you're looking at a guy that fans just adore and it's a very cynical move in some ways but it also may very well be a huge business deal for them because number one we know that super star players now at this level after Manny Machado deal after the Bryce Harper deal your it in and now the the Gerrit Cole deal you're looking at three hundred and fifty four hundred million dollars to sign a player and if Mookie Betts didn't want to play with the red Sox will find out over the next several weeks and months if that was the case then of course they had to move them but on the other hand if that's not the case the red Sox are a super power they can sign whoever they want they've got money it's looking like a cynical deal we will see I'm good at and by the way I got as you know your cubs aren't far behind because you've got a guy like Chris Brian who's another cornerstone player and what does that mean for the cubs keep these players and the fans love him yeah thank you very much ESPN's Howard Bryant thanks so much no my pleasure
