"Would be throwing passes to Julio Jones, my head would have exploded. I would have been so excited. And like I said, I'll repeat it again. It's weird to me that his time in Tennessee was a letdown. I don't know why that was. Was it the quarterback wasn't very good? Was it the system wasn't very good for him? Was he just hurt? The obvious thing to believe from that is that, well, Julio Jones must not be very good. He must be washed up. He's too old, he can't play. I'm a skeptical of Julio Jones going to Tampa. I don't know that he can play. I don't know that he's going to be very good. But I'm also hopeful. My fingers are crossed and I wanted to go well. That's a huge fan of Julio. A guy who admires him. I want it to go well. And I think it might. And I certainly want to at least acknowledge that Julio Jones is now going to Tampa on a roster that's really good. With a team that has Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, were potentially, it's kind of like in basketball, actually, you know, John wall went to LA clippers where they got Paul George and Kawhi Leonard and you're like, well, hey, the third best offender is now guarding John wall. That's a good matchup for John wall. Well, if you got Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, your third best cover corner, then is potentially guarding Julio Jones. That's a good matchup in my opinion. I think still, it's not quite that simple. That's an over simplification of that. But my point is that maybe having good receivers around him and Tom Brady could remind the world how good Julio Jones once was and he could give us a little bit of really good stuff. And I certainly hope that is possible because I would love to see Julio Jones catching touchdown passes from Tom Brady and looking really good. That excites me a lot and I have my fingers crossed. I'm hoping for that. All right, it is now time for ask Zach, my favorite part of the show. It is where I read questions from the audience. "It's like yet to a certain extent but like they were still getting out. I thought the sixers were largely getting played other than that. It was just more. It was closer to even that stretch where they got demolished. Yeah the turnovers completely killed philly throwing during that stretch and landed forty two points in the first and they had like a one sixty offense rating. They're hitting every three and philly really kept pace with them. They had a one fifth offensive rating when they didn't turn over but they turned it over nine times in the first quarter and then it just got worse from there. The overall the all bench unit you mention head five turnovers and eight possessions at one point and obviously the hawks were taking advantage of that also some of the other highlights the sixers somehow managed to turn into nilo nari dribbling into the court into four free throws the nilo gone bringing the ball up. They follow them once. The backward enable goes for a bad gamble and then gets out of position and follows him on the drive. Dwight howard tried to get a foul on a rip through move and just lost it for a fast break and i thought actually a kanju kind of learned a little bit like i tires maxi went adam three times in pick and roll the first time a congress gets too far up on the floor and maxi blue buying for a layup the second two times he stays back and got stops on them at the rim so obviously the adjustment for affiliates to be that i mean i understand. You're gonna take him beaten simmons out at the same time. If howard is going to play the adjustment is howard's not play and then maybe you're gonna move. Ben simmons to center in those minutes when in beat is not on the floor if you are gonna play in in some of them. He pushed platt device. Handwrite i mean. That's your other option. If you must play dwight howard who i just. I don't like having that rim protection doesn't really seem to be like that. Amazing in this series. We'll see he could maybe play a little bit better than than he did and it wasn't all his fault. Obviously there's but it's just tough for them to score when when he's out there and Shake milton played one minute and had to travel and then was taken out of the game immediately george hill only played eleven minutes and was negative. Seventeen didn't even get close to a look at all. I would like to see more of him. Playing with the starters. And i think that him as a possibility guarding trae rather than danny green. I would like to see them. Try that if it's not gonna be. Ben simmons from the start benson says he wants to guard trae more but he complained that he got some of those touch falls and got in foul trouble in the third. Joel embiid though did look really good. Do you agree offensively. yes. I absolutely agree. And there were some a few limitations from movement that we saw defensively but no he was extremely dominant a criticism. And i think that by a criticism for me of clink. Capella is that. I thought even though joel embiid wasn't hitting the jump shot. I thought that he didn't challenge that enough. I think generally you should make joel embiid drive more often anyway just because he turns the ball over a bunch but when somebody's dealing with the best up meniscus and you want it it's a it's more physical work for them to do it and yeah you. They don't have the greatest room. But i thought he was. Conceding may use conceding some easy shots and let me. Let me a generally agree with you. I've said that before on many alive cast that you can't just let joel embiid enjoy and be turning face in shoot because he's just going to make that turn himself into a wonderful mitterand shooter. But once you're up by twenty four points. I think it charges at that point. I will get a light contests on your mid ranger. I don't think that you can make up. Twenty four points with joel embiid shooting from mid range over and over again as the steady diet and whole heart joel embiid driving in and i like you know team on the catch seventeen feet from the basket like yeah now you're going to potentially give threes. That's how you could possibly give a comeback or clean cappella. Let's him drive and then fouls and that's another way that you can give up a comeback when you're just letting him get to the foul line. Let them set up their defense. Which puts a of a problem for the hawks at the wall and also cappella. Foul trouble is something that you want to avoid so i if you wanna try to pull it off yeah Looked like the sixers might be jumping back into. They get it down to seventy nine sixty four midway through the third. And then the hawks get seven straight points and they kinda yo-yoed back and forth from twenty two to fifteen with just a some kind of dumpling. There unlike Salman hill filing embiid backward for fouls They did try playing. Trae young and lou williams together along with danilo gallinari for a little bit and lou williams still with that firepower out their head like a terrible zero pass possession at the end of the third But i still just struck by how easy it was for the hawks to get open. Threes forty seven three point attempts in this game like they are too good of shooting team to allow to shoot that many threes. And they you know. They only made seven of their last twenty four after starting off. Thirteen to twenty three. But in gallo and john collins and bogdonovich trae he's able to create space like bogdonovich getting twelve three-point attempts like that just way too much but because they've got him beat out there. I mean basically whenever embiid was out there and obviously danny green exasperated things with poor defensive. The point of attack trae young is getting penetration. Or they're putting on the ball and the hawks mood around there. Basically just able to get open threes against this team anytime and so maybe the philly i think they got better personnel. Like they can clean it up a little bit more. They can avoid making mistakes. They can just be better about where they're pushing trae young. They could just put a little bit more pressure on them. All those things like the hawks are not going to have this ridiculous of an offensive performance. I mean and let's not forget like they put up a twenty eight and you know they basically like didn't score the last five minutes of the game other than getting filed so this was a ridiculous offensive performance Although worth noting that the piece was incredibly high in part due to all those turnovers at the end all the fouls but turnovers at the end. Yeah but i was unaware right but sixty seven percent shooting for the hawks and just the turnovers that really killed their efficiency at the end and and trae so i thought he took some overly aggressive threes at at moments in the second. But i mean he trae young. We talked about how amazing he was like as a score and as a distributor still had the so you had three assists in the in the second half but he had a couple of other potential guys just missed the three but trae young. It was three of ten from the field missed. Three of his four shots in the paint made a couple midrangers and missed all four of his threes. But they're still generating good. Looks like even even stretches except for the very end of the game which we'll talk about shortly. That that part of it i think has to be concerning to philadelphia as well as that even when the shots were falling. They were good shots. What philly did best in certain circumstances prevented shots were happening in the first place. But you can't build the whole thing out of that. It's just it's impossible now. Philly has good enough personnel. That i think they can adjust. Learn to travel but also a lot of people groaning about the foul line Guys philly took thirty five thousand. The hawks took twenty one but and obviously a big part of that was embiid. Fourteen fifteen and simmons getting intentionally fouled which We'll talk about that in fact maybe we shall right now. I to just drunk end of the game..

"Type guy if you don't play now forbes already could dribble it up a little bit maybe just make jaanus the point guard but it's also not like is jeff took two shots right like he's not running any offense out there and there were a lot of times when he's out there where he was more of a spot up shooter like there are possessions where they gave other people and he's not good at that so i mean i think between coniston and forbes something if you wanted him out yeah yeah i mean but like if you're just going to say who's you'd have to and again i don't think this is a real weakness to me. Mike bhutto's he just he he just kinda item gonna take. You ought to put you in Tired okay you're going to go out and alec. It seems totally haphazard when he takes guys out of the game and that they're just there isn't like forethought or a craft to do. I have everything that. I need it all times with this five. I'm on the floor. And you're not gonna play teague. You gotta be careful about that with your but also the brooklyn nets aren't going to press you like this philadelphia seventy sixers all right like they're not gonna pressure you up full-court like you're probably going to be okay. But but they are a little a little light on spacing an offense as well starting lineup particularly. If you're going to have brook lopez's playing inside janas can't shoot tucker can only shoot from the corners. Now you're really relying a lot of middleton and holiday to make threes. I think they need to think more about just having brook lopez's standing outside and spacing the floor and we'll see maybe you'll get hot if he's gonna if he's gonna hit then maybe you can get them in get them in there or you can when forbes is in the game or content is in for. Pj tucker those guys can shoot above the break three more than maybe you get brook lopez down on the dunker spot or posting up a little. Bit more me i. I understand what their plan was and also worth noting that the created this plan for james harden being available right and so maybe they. They've probably felt like we can't just totally outscore. These guys we gotta kind of do the opposite and like get them in foul trouble and bludgeon them entire them out and all that stuff and so maybe now they can adjust to be like no. We gotta get a little more offense on the floor here. We don't think these guys can score on us at a crazy rate so if we just if we can just score competently. That's all we need and we can win the series so hopefully they will have a different plan a little bit of with hardened being out in terms of the rotation and wherever when standing what type of plays they're running etcetera so yeah the nets still absolutely can win the series like you. I would favor the bucks going forward but in you. Don't let me down to zero. If you're the we'll walkie box right like that's they eat again and winning four six difficult the knit. The nets are capable opponent and the other huge factor that. It didn't really come in. Because steve nash at one point didn't want it to but not only are the net susceptible to another injury but also foul trouble for for any of their important players would be huge prop now carry. Doesn't he's not often. He doesn't necessarily but durant especially now that he has to do more in a help capacity there are gonna be. I think there could be one or two games that sway in this series because he gets in foul trouble and they just either he falls out or they just can't handle it But so so. I'm knocking on this game unless you have. Anything else The key stretch of the game eighty six nets are kind of in control and a key player. In the game it's eighty six eighty janas gets fouled. Mrs both free throws pat counts goes for the free throw. Offense rebound takes himself completely out of position and as a result kyrie irving just gets a wide open corner. Three often missed free. Throw nine point game. Jaanus then tries to drive. Nick claxton just loses it. And then they get that sweet kyri lefty past and transition to sham it for a dunk on holiday. I didn't know it had that in by the way No i didn't either Lopez gets two free throws with the katie fall in the post and then katie went to work. drove past. janas tucker is out of the game at this point. You honestly guarding him. I thought we're going to see honest. Katie from the beginning. And i think it became pretty clear why we didn't because katie at thought really struggled with ghana's maybe that are sorry honestly struggled katy which i think maybe that'll change but so katie drives by. He hit just cold blooded score floater over both yonathan lopez then the box and draymond. Green actually tweeted about this. Like you can't just put you on us and pick and roll. It's too easy to defend in the postseason. This is kind of an example of that where y- the pick and roll hayler. they're trying to just. I think it was teague trying to set a screen forum and jeff teague standing at the dotted line. Trying to screen for like. You're not gonna. it gets landry. Shamet there but like what. What are you gonna do. If you're jeff teague like okay now you just created a double team like jeff everywhere to roll. He's not gonna pop out to the three point line from the dow lion so youngsters drills are on drills on nothing happens and then he just backs up and shoots it three which mrs and then keady gets ripped through on the honest gets two free throws the we should talk about that challenge just briefly. Oh yes yes. so originally. They called they called a foul on. They called a foul on brook lopez. And is that correct. Yeah they yeah they called you over the backbreaker free throws for would have been two free throws for katy which you presumably would have made and they did not rule it a foul on durant which would have been his fifth instead they ruled it a jump ball and then the bucks bucks won the jump ball. I actually thought it wasn't a bad challenge Although i was surprised at the way it was overturned because those loose ball scrum ones. It's kinda hard to overturn. But they did. They said it was no foul on anybody but they could potentially gotten a fifth line katie and they did at least wipe two points out the board but then janas travels on a side pick and roll of going in the claxton in ogden. Put the ball down quickly enough then. Katie gets ripped through on two free throws drew. Holiday missed the layup but she had a bunch of pretty decent looks going through their small guards that he just couldn't convert and then that sick katie eyeso- on yoenis for three puts the next up sixteen and the bucks never really threatened much after that I mean that ice. Oh and that three. I was just going nuts in the cast for that. I mean that is just like janas contesting it. As hard as you can contest it and kiddie just like sticks at writing as grill..

"Gary knows where we are in relation to the game where you are in relation to the game so it just thinks you up. A lot of people have been joining those really enjoying them. Great comment threads in there as well. We obviously respond to comments during the break. So this in the end was a one fifteen one seven victory for the brooklyn nets. It was not that close. It was over with four minutes left in the game but despite the fact that the nets won this we have to begin. Sadly with the injury to james art we do. And who is extremely deflating for pretty much everybody involved when it happened hardin reinjuring that same right hamstring and as jeff stotts noted. And you know that as just the experience with all this with muscle muscle. Injuries hamstring tricky. It's something you and i have said for years is what makes this so daunting. Is that re injuries. Often take a long time to. And i mean and so maybe he comes back in the series like you said and i think this is going to prove true that if somebody can't come back in that game with the muscle injury they're going to be least a week harden has already been. He missed the rest of game one. he's already been ruled out for game. Two and a hamstring strain was put that could mean anything really can and so it was basically the first possession of the game and the challenge is really like okay we. We saw that the nets one game game one. And we'll go through that until but working from here. You know the strain that this game put on kyrie irving and kevin durant. Can they do that. Six more times in this series and then plus how if they can however much they need to in the next round while the only need to do it three times to at least get out of here with a win and i could certainly see the bucks getting some blowouts in this series. But it's worth noting of course that it's not like the bucks just completely destroyed the nets in milwaukee when they played without james harden both teams. Were going pretty hard in those two games in the bucks did win both of them and they looked like the better team in those games but the nets having home court and in fact. You're winning this one pretty handily. Is there something to take away from this for the nuts. I think defensively. They had by far the best game against the box. They really yes. Six out of thirty. Three point shooting for milwaukee very reminiscent of game one against miami but obviously the nets are a better team. So that's that is going to improve three point shooting. Chris middleton six out of twenty three jrue holiday seven hundred nineteen. I think both of those guys can be a lot better than they were. So that's something that's not gonna continue. What did you see in this game. And i think. I'm gonna make the assumption that james harden his out for the series right now until further notice. I think that's that's probably a pretty fair assumption. And if he does come back his risk of reinjuring it would be really really high as depressing as that is because i was despondent when that happened on the first fucking possession of the game for for the net but what what what may brooklyn have found in this game that could continue that they can potentially rely on throughout the series. I thought they were really strong. Defensively and i mean one one way of describing that is through kind of milwaukee's offense in that second half in particular thought that that's really worth things kicked into gear. Yeah the shooting. Two out of eleven during that stretch helps but milwaukee also they got thirteen shots restrict area but there were six of eighteen from florida and they and they took to midrangers and so i thought that that was important but arguably more important than that was that the nets were defending relatively well and they. They weren't giving up a ton of free throws they gave up a fair amount. Gave up eleven during the half in total. But that's not ridiculous when you consider the physical disadvantage that the nets faced during that same stretch and like as john hollander noted. If people like the nets. I think i was in the fourth. In the fourth quarter the debts committed four thousand. The first few minutes and then the bucks still didn't didn't use the bonus until i think it was three minutes left in the game. What i wouldn't say it was for lack of trying. I we talked about this on the cast. Actually that the referee's not calling many policy nestling shot nine free throws in this game. I thought that actually played to the nets advantage because frankly as the smaller team. You're just going to have to file more right in k. d. did get five fouls Blake griffin got six. Nobody else really committed very many for them but they're just going to be in situations where whether it's boxing out whether it's protecting the rim jaanus driving to the basket they're going to be situations where there's just gonna be some borderline plays where they may be falling. And i think the fact that not many fouls were called actually played to the nets advantage in this game to play a little bit harder and freer and a big way. That assize vange can manifest itself as just getting the other team in foul trouble getting to the foul line and so fewer falls positives in general being called that game. You agree with me right. That those a a pretty loosely called games. I would pull heartedly. Particularly in the first half. I i thought And maybe even the beginning of the third quarter now so that that may not continue you know that they could get into some follow issues to be. Sure i think the thing that you gotta feel pretty good about is only giving up thirty three point attempts and only twelve in the second half only five in the third quarter and also the nets importantly cleaned up a lot. Better on the defensive glass. They had email trouble during that first. Quarter the the bucks had nine offensive rebounds in the first quarter and then they had six and the rest of the game now. You give up nine. Overall twenty-seven percent often regards. You could totally live with that. If in certain games maybe that that will be a problem if your offense is a little bit worse or but but overall i think you can. You can do that in a conservative. And i thought that they did a better job going after a bringing extra people bring extra people to the glass and some of the events players did well and i think that was the other for me. Really positive thing for brooklyn and all single out nick claxton so claxton. I thought had a rough first-half he was out physical know. A couple of plays words just wasn't wasn't strong enough and whether it was setting better screens or playing a little bit more aggressively on defense. He went from being a negative in the first after being a positive in the second half in brooklyn needs every support player to be a positive or close to it because now those guys have to do a lot more no absolutely and blake griffin was another one of those guys they. I thought they might play the andre jordan. They did not do that at all but they did. Actually go away from the switching system on any screen involving it's actually played conventional pick and roll defense and i thought did a pretty good job on him. The bucks tried to get some of those like empty side. Pick and rolls in the big generally did a good job of showing just enough to deter the drive and then getting back to janas in between the oddest and the basket and the superficially. His line was very good thirty. Four point sixteen to twenty four didn't really have the jump shot working the to five from three but didn't have the two point jump in that well But four assists five turnovers. That's not amazing for him and he just wasn't able to set up the three point shooting so they kind of your the bucks kinda beat him up on the interior and brook lopez..

"But i mean it's hard to imagine he can be a factor in this series at this point going forward so you felt like at the game like played thirty minutes a game he played in. He didn't play a ton of minutes. Necessarily all those remember he was coming back. He barely played in the end of the hawks regular season before the playoffs and then got a week off because the hawks were high enough in the seating that they didn't they didn't need to play in the plan. So yeah that was really deflating. Solomon hill started in his place and through the meat of the game. I i mean. I i just kept on thinking myself like. How could this other than injuries. How could this be more disastrous for the sixers. I mean the early part of the game. I don't think they do this kind of master class because it's a it's a good product but it was a masterclass on how not to defend trae young like they were just the the volta to failures that they had of giving him shots or like. My favorite one was dwelling bead moving. So was i think it was towards the end of the first quarter. Joel embiid basically conceded the floater. Then trae young didn't take it. Then he moves over an trae young lobster tickling cappella. Where's like he got both things. It wasn't like you. You take away anything and trae had had a thirty five and ten game and he missed some shots toya twenty five in the first half to which was get sick one of i mean this is supposedly a good six. I mean the flirted with being the number one defense. It is a good sixty fence. But i in trae young destroyed them absolutely completely destroyed them in the first half with twenty five points six assists or something to do but he was just controlling. Absolutely everything i mean. He just no answer no plan. Most of them were white. Oh and thirteen twenty three from three in the first half but and i will say bogdanovich vich ended up five twelve from three and he hit a cold-blooded one at the end which is The the rest of it was not cold blooded for the hawks at the end that was and he hit two just like on the move. Quick guns where. I was the one that from the new york series or i was like i mean. I guess he's been hitting these last couple months but like these are awful shots. But he's making him and he was doing it at the expense of benson's we'll talk about the match ups obviously too but it was just an absolute tour de force of offense a basketball watching trae young go to work in that first half and now of course a big part of it also occurred a. You're right there just so many things that went wrong with the sixers. It guess the trae young is who they put out. They put danny green autumn and danny green. Maybe not even five years ago. Maybe danny green in twenty fourteen would have been indecent matchup for trae young and i guess the thinking was that they wanted to have simmons guard bogdonovich. And they're just gonna. You comes off a screen. If you're john. Serious told. Ben simmons because on the first plays over help and conceded open threes devotion to mcdonald's like ben simmons and if joel embiid were not play so okay we really need supplemental rim protection. Even though the hawks don't you know like they they have collins and they have cappella guys to attack it simmons light. It was driving me completely crazy like a you could at certain moments. I mean yes. He was an important part of their success. But i couldn't tell whether he was failing to see whether he was failing to execute news freelancing and just being like okay. Like i just got to try to be disruptive but i'm gonna do all this stuff or whether they just had it completely trash game plan i it could be either. I'm genuinely unsure but one of those two things in those because there were so many situations where you would see somebody who is like limited in other ways or you'd see them you'd see the sixers conceding something you're like. The hawks are a very good team. But you don't have to get everything like you could take these things the way they have this of wonderful defensive talent and before i mean so. That's one thing. These like massive defensive failure at the beginning of the game and full credit to trae young. He was playing phenomenally and sure. Let me say. More on danny green. Danny green is the fourth bust option to defend trae young on this team. I would say. It's ben simmons either george hill matisse libel two and three and then danny green as number four and a lot of their scheme ended up looking bad because danny green was just too slow to direct the ball where it was supposed to go and so trays rejecting a bunch of screens blowing by guys into the lane. Or he's just one on one even before the screen gets there crossing over creating separation. He hit some deep threes. Which are i mean. Just fucking six shots like. Let's let's be honest. But like danny green just is not quick enough to even like what are you talking about staying with trae young. I've talking about just like keeping him on a certain side of the floor. And he's a veteran. He knows what he's supposed to be doing. He just was not able to execute that against trey and then trait here. The first couple of floors that trae hit were pretty difficult shots but then they started really getting easy and he's also just unbelievable passer like their if and this goes back to joel embiid as well who maybe is limited by the benifits. Maybe not i think. He's one of the best defensive players in the nba during the regular season. But they don't have an answer for trae young because he has to be a coverage and they tried blitzing in the in the second half and kind of worked a little bit better..

"Big huge game. The game seven looked like it was shaping up like it could be a classic as the mavs surge into an eighty one seventy six lead in the third and then all of a sudden the clippers go on a devastating twenty one to two run and the mavs never really were able to threaten after that and I wanna just you. And i i did the solo for the cast today. You and i haven't talked about this at all. So i was just curious and wanted to know like what some of your big picture thoughts were having watched us games as we haven't talked about it at all so i thought that the clippers continued something that had been true for a lot of the series where they were forcing the mavericks into a very difficult choice. Either quite leonard is going to kinda get his get to get to the get his spots. Or you're going to concede really good looks to their support players in certain situations if your defense spat enough you can see both and what was profoundly different from this game. Then i was game sex. I could be wrong. It was five. But i believe it was six. Is that not universally. But in a larger proportion than previously those support players made their shots. And so marcus morris who had an absolutely brutal go of it in and it was game six. By the way you're thinking of where only reggie jackson wine. Paul georgia tech morris one of ten in game six. And i wouldn't say that his looks were significantly better in seven but he was eight. Five seven of nine from three took some of them confidently. Reggie jackson was three of eight. Yeah that's what it was. The the confidence really glad you said that because hitting his first couple made him start to hunt that shot because he was passing upshots and he did that a couple times in this game where he stepped in for a missed long to And he actually was only one six onto pointers but seven nine from three in this game. But yeah i mean he. He was fantastic. Just hitting shots also registered. Yeah and like terrence. Mann had a big first half where i be. It looks like he wasn't even you wasn't necessarily intended to be part of it but that was that was is worst. Gotten foul trouble if memory serves and yeah that was pretty huge Because he actually was doing a pretty. Good job on luca. When you get switched on then luca dean scream. And actually i talked about was how incredible lucas in this game but those dallas support players they and a couple of times they did a nice job on the offensive glass. I wanna talk about during pretty smith's night on the offensive glass as well later but those shots were available largely throughout the series and intermittently even rondo took and made an open three like you can kind of see it throughout canard had some good moments which was weird enough in and of itself. Good moments meeting each shots taken. Some of them when not like he was doing. Brilliant things out there but that that made life so much easier for the clippers they ended up with a one thirty four offensive rating sixty eight percent shooting. Remember like this was y- i mean in the first half like lucas. Set the world on fire. And they were still down because the clippers work or anything they were twenty four of thirty eight from the field in the first half your particularly in the first quarter when luke go with three three pointers that and ended up five eleven. But a a number of those. Were kinda gunned late. Lucas stats with a little bit better. Superficially 'cause the last two minutes or so he was kinda letting them score a little bit and obviously he was amazing with forty five points. But yeah i mean those support guys hitting the threes and the mavs support guys missingham in luke who was five eleven finish. Smith was wonderful for seven and porzingas over five and hardaway was one for nine hardaway. Had this weird like foot sprain looking type of thing. When he came down from jumper went to the locker room came back ended up. playing forty. Three minutes looked like he was moving product. I don't know exactly what happened to him. But it didn't seem to hamper his movement but he obviously didn't shoot very well and they also were just struggling to find any kind of guard playoff and i wanna talk about that got worked but not but not before we now before we talk about. Yeah well yeah well and also talk about Leonard as well but yeah so. Luca comes out and what we said in game six was that he just couldn't get the separation he just didn't have the energy and it takes you know it doesn't look like he's moving that fast but it takes just a lot of strength to accelerate and then decelerate and accelerate again. That's that's what his game is. That takes a lot of like potion and he didn't have that in game six and i'm like well how's he going to have that in game seven on a thirty six hour turnaround basically but he did right at the start and and why on him he was able to get some switches goes more ara nipah tomb. Go after some of the guards. As well turned the corner even had so much juice that he was like kawai at times. He's got the step back working from three n. He's got nineteen points in the first quarter and they're down or they're up three but again. That's because the clippers guys were making all their shots and the mavs guys weren't really and so that was a big disappointment for dallas. At the time. I was like well. Dallas is really playing them. But you just the way. They faded largely in second halves in this series particularly as the series has gone on was a cause for concern that ended up being a problem so in coed kept pace with thirteen of his own in the first and then he actually doesn't score in the second and the clippers outscore and thirty five twenty four with guys like morris making shots turns man hits a couple of threes in the first half one of them was even like a nice like sidestep dribble fly. By which you didn't think that turns ban really had that in his game if he if he becomes a rival three point shooter like he's going to be an awesome. He's going to be like a better version of patrick beverley at his peak because he's just bigger and more athletic and what and something. Sorry something want mention god in that first. Quarter as a score. He did lucas most of his damage on jump shots which was really. I mean when lucas truly his jumper. It's just spellbinding. Because so many other parts of his game and then there were other moments later on like there was one in the fourth quarter where luca posted up..

"We've been able to do some live scouting but not like in a normal year. Probably fifty percent of our time is spent on the road in a live scouting for sure. I definitely imagine the everyone's job especially for for scouts. Got the past Mine tire schedule is going to be on a plane right is traveling is visible these arenas as thinking okay. I can hit this on this road trip on this team. This team's i'd only to our flights do that one instead of a four hour flight on kind of that's like the whole that's the whole game behind. It should obviously not messing with much. Nc double or anything like that. It's all maybe pro. Based did you kind of try to in terms of being a scout. Meeting centered around team going. Maybe he's trying to see the teams that the clippers play if you how does that. That's a difference. She is that what you're talking about is an advance scout. An advance scout has to kind of stay two or three games ahead of the posse and that's an extra no job at it. Okay you know. And and he's he's working closely with the assistant coaches on plays and play calls and strategy and all that stuff a personnel scout is concerned involved with personnel. You know who's playing well what you know what players fit with our team with our coach with our culture and trying to get intel on players Just knowing the league is from a personnel standpoint inside and out As best you can using your contacts in your people that you know around the league to to help get information players. It's so interesting. What you do is so cool and you're doing it for for a team really fun to watch the baby. Something's wrong The best shooting team from three and from the line ever. so yeah. there's going on there. And i really can't wait to see it. "You end up. Getting to the bulls won that all look like a young team at the time. Now i was a fluke. You know there's nothing i pursued. I was working in the summers in chicago. For a guy named tim grover. He had a business called attack. Athletics work with nba players. Mostly in the summertime. And i was happened to be in chicago when the bulls video coordinator was a friend of mine. He called me and said hey look. They just hired a new coach and he's interviewing play development directors. You know would you be interested and assure you know and it's nothing that i ever fired to do but also i just got lucky and got hired in So that was it but it was nothing that i ever really aspired to be all wanted to do. Was really in. California was I being a junior college coach in california. It'd be great because it's very competitive out here with the ju- coz i played yuko. I love the junior college thing out in california. That's all. I kinda really wanted to do that. I just kind of ended up in this kind of a fluke tribal kind of thinking about that story right in just not really chasing it but obviously the passions all around basketball. It just sort of happened that way. I was also funny. What you brought up tim grover. His company called athletics. Not was the train for the best player in the world. Or anything of all time or anything like that just made pasta. Maybe one of the greatest trainer. Nope anybody you know if your listeners know who he is but he's just a terrific first of all he's he's very very smart. If you've read his books on you followed him you know what. What a bright guy. He is but he was kind of on the cutting edge of strength and conditioning for players. Michael went to him after getting beat up by the pistons and he. He searched out any found tim because he needed to get stronger. And it kind of went from there. You know michael to kobe and dwayne wade and all of the guys he's ad so he's great to my in my opinion of what he does. He's the best in the world. Say it works a little bit and you know it's not just strength edition and stuff with him. The guy knows basketball. He played division one basketball. He knows basketball and the way he got guys to work and best thing about tim was he always told them the truth. Always you know. He didn't care if it pissed him off but he was always going to tell them as what he thought was the truth. It was a great experience. Just you know working those few summers with him. Oh definitely and then Thinking about maybe transitioning of then. You're with the clippers. When you first got there was kind of the same thing you're doing with the bulls that things change was similar. Well what happened. Was that the coach. That i hired me that i worked for vinny. Del negro we. We got fired by the bulls and in right away within a month. He was hired by the clippers and He basically called me. Said we're going to la. I said all right. Let's go after we got fire by the bulls eye was going back to california to teach high school again. I was just going to go back and resume my teaching and he gets hired. And we we get hired by the clippers and we came and that was the summer that The blake was his rookie year..

How the Rockies Became the Hottest Mess in Baseball
"The rockies are playing like a team that just lost its best player as we record this. They have the worst record in baseball as bad as their record. Or is that number even a little bit deceptive the rockies are losing an very old timey kind of way. they're the old fashioned kind of bad team. They are like the new jersey devils of the nineteen eighties or the la clippers of the nineties. Or there like the cleveland browns of this century. They are not trying to lose. They're losing despite themselves. It's not the sort of cynical cost cutting that leads to teams losing now. They're the old kind of bad teams where they sort of bad building the baseball team and and it's starting to catch up to them in a way. I find this to be almost comforting. That it's still possible to have so many things. Just go wrong that you end up being the worst team in baseball so pure pure. That's good we're for is very pure. It's it's very clear that these owners has no one's learning lessons here. They are just sort of plowing ahead. Will rockies ever win with these people in charge. It's a really good question. Let me argue for them. I okay this is a team that made the playoffs twice in a row despite some serious disadvantages the rockies. Play at the least predictable ballpark. In all of baseball coors field is very difficult to tame is tougher pitchers but they seemed to have solved that problem. They developed a pitching rotation. That was the best in their history and they pitched their way to back to back playoff appearances on the flip side however they turned a playoff team in to one of the worst teams baseball in less than a year. They have made soling mistakes even within the last five years. It's very difficult to see them. Being the people who eventually turned this team around

First Things First
Doc Rivers out as Clippers' coach, after seven seasons
"The LA clippers parting ways with head coach dot servers yesterday. Some would say it was inevitable after the way they collapsed against Denver many had this team winning the title. Don't even get to the conference finals doc did issue a statement yesterday thanking the fans and calling it eight disappointing end to this season are nick after seven seasons. Doc Rivers out as clippers head coach surprised the team made this decision. Surprised it took them a week or two weeks almost I. Felt like it was either going to be immediate or it wasn't going to happen. But while everyone respects dock and everyone likes dock and everyone's going to focus on the three one series loss third the most the only coach ever with more than one. Here's I. Think the biggest. Indictment on Doc rivers, not just this year but his with the clippers. And people aren't going to believe this but I promise it's true. Frank Vogel has won as many playoff series with the Lakers as doc rivers one with the clippers. Thing about that. So it wasn't just one year of underachieving, it was a better part of a decade of underachieving. and. So the question is, will the clippers get a better coach I don't know if they will. Tie lose going to be the obvious thing. We can talk more about that later but Jonah the real reason they did this in my opinion is because they were stuck like the brandon they don't have a good secondary pitch here they I know you would said, keep collide dock and Paul George and blow the rest of the team. I don't know if the rest of the team has that much value I think the only real shake-up you could do is trade Paul George whose values the lowest it's ever been or fire the coach I don't know that they had another way to shake the snow Globe Brandon. So I think they made the changer not for the sake of change, but because they had to change something and this was almost the only move they could do.

NBA Players, Owners Meet To Discuss Plan Of Action
"Get back on track WHOA Jeez here. Thankfully to tell us what might happen here. Obviously, it's a fluid situation Adrian. I. Guess. The first thing we want to ask you is, what are we expecting today like what is going to happen today meeting Liz I have no idea what's going to happen today guys yesterday was. A remarkable day and one that I don't think any of us who cover the NBA. WHO Who've covered sports and and in my generation Bo forget but to set the table for today. The players having eleven am meeting here in the bubble. And the owners have a board of governors call at the same time. I'm pulled eleven am obviously that'll be done virtually and so simultaneously, those two groups we'll be meeting and the players. I think after a night, it was an emotional day. It was an emotional meeting they had. With most of the players in the bubble coaches were there last night there came a point where? The players asked the coaches to leave so they could hash it out amongst themselves. The teams I was told broke up into groups. and then they're going to continue that conversation this morning but I mean what's at stake is simply This season and are the players as a group going to decide to move forward. Continue the playoffs by all indications that the three games that are scheduled today. Not. Going to be played, the League hadn't officially. announced it but every indication we got in the last night regardless of what they decide moving forward that those three games later in the day. Wouldn't be played, but the players have more to work through and talk through. And consider a lot of different. Consider a lot of different scenarios. And and ultimately consequences of what it would mean to shut this bubble down. You're there in the bubble woes and you could get and I just WanNa know like what is what's the feeling is like does feel like NAM empty and just spooky and? What's that feeling like? I. Think the last several days keyshawn. and. You could feel a building you could watch on I think you guys could watch. On television and and read what people are saying and see. The interviews with George Hill and Fred Van Vliet. and. The emotion that players were carrying. Since the shooting of Jacob Blake earlier. In the week. And how that resonated not just all over the country. But here. and. On top of the emotion and Guys have been here a long time and it wears on you and guys miss families guys feel. At times like their captive in this place it I get it. It's a resort like I. Don't mean to. It is a resort and I get it and. All of us are lucky to be able to work. In, this country right now and a lot of people can't but there is a cumulative effect about being away this long. And you add on top of that. the horrific nature of that shooting. Another in a series of them in years of decades. Of them a century of them and so. data impacted this place at impacted those inside. And It was a domino effect yesterday of once. The bucks made the decision to knock him out of the locker room and not play. And then how it impacted the other teams and lead to that meeting last night that was pretty rot times. The to La teams the LA clippers. The Lakers have two of the hour say most powerful voices in professional sports in Genie Boston. Steve, bomber what type of influence can they have on the rest of the NBA owners to get something done in favor of the players? It's a good question I think the question is. And I think what the players Were spending last night doing. And and previously, it's been an ongoing conversation here. But is there something and and I and I know in the meeting last I a lot of players. Disgusted I know CJ mccollum was who's an executive on the players committee or on the on the Executive Committee of the Players Association. mccomb the Blazers Jaylen Brown the Celtics war leaders. in the Union and top players in league talked about having a plan of action and the bucks in the locker. Room. In those hours after that they after they decided not to play. Working with their own ownership in Milwaukee to get on the phone the Attorney General of the Lieutenant Governor in Wisconsin to talk about ways to move forward. To try to impact. that. Particular case. In in their state in Kenosha. And so you saw players already beginning to do that yesterday now. How does that continue today? What what players are asking themselves I know what organizations are asking players when they got back to the rooms. Last my back to the hotels. What is the endgame if we don't play? One is that what is it that we wanNA accomplish outside of the bubble outside of this environment outside of the platform that you have right now to play. play NBA Games and speak to the world through. Through this. What does that look like and so I think that's all going to be part of the conversation today with the players and with the owners if they kinda reconnect after those two meetings.

Coronavirus Impact on the Food Industry: Cameron Mitchell Restaurants CEO
"Joining us right now on the topic of small business and what he's seeing is Cameron Mitchell. He's the founder and CEO of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, which owns nearly sixty establishments across the United States and Cameron. It's great to see you. It's been a while since we've spoken good morning break plagiary back with you today. So. The first time we talked to you was in the midst of the shutdown when all of your restaurants had been closed down and you laid out a plan for what you were hoping to see. Two weeks ago on March third, I was in Washington DC to meet with my bankers and I expressed them what a great start year we had were up seven percent same store sales record profitability for the first two months of the year. This was March third tomorrow I believe March Eighteenth we will be completely shut down I laid off forty, two hundred people on Monday. The last time we talked to you things we're looking pretty good business was was back and was booming. I think we're going to survive, but it's going to be a while before we get to the hospital we expect to be open in hopefully back to full employment by the end of June or into or end of July somewhere in that neighborhood. So what's happening right now? The best way equate it to is we're in a hurricane in the first. Landfall, the hurricane was back in March fifteenth and. It was is detrimental as it was terrible. It's was We end up getting the money and we're able to get out and get open and it was a lifeline. We would not be here today if it wasn't for the original P P P loan and June came and sales, we're doing pretty good. We're about seventy five percent of last year sales were feeling very optimistic and and when I came to realize is we are really just in the eye of the storm and then July the beginning July head and and the case counts rising. Across the country and met, metropolitan. Areas Rolling back opening guidelines and in further restrictions on our business and sales fell down to now fifty percent of last year and that is just not sustainable. So here we are today you know August second and I feel just as nervous about the future as I did back in the beginning of March when Corona virus was coming over the horizon. So we're looking for a second round of P P P to help us get through the other side and and help us sustain for the future so. And the thing that we're hearing mostly Congress is about the stimulus checks, the unemployment but there are thousands and thousands of businesses like ours out there in the country they're hurting terribly at fifty percent decline a forty percent decline sales we cannot survive. We're losing between five, hundred thousand and a million dollars a month, and we need the additional P P P dolorous in a in a terrible way and you know the the curb puzzle is for a two million dollar cap on that which. last time was ten million dollars and so for a company like ours and many others that reduction of eight million dollars just when we need it, the most is is very difficult for us. Camera now is the decline in your business coming mostly because states or local municipalities have have forced you to not open as much into close things down or much of the decline is coming from people who Are, afraid to go out what and how would you measure that a difference while it's both clearly when you have a reduction in capacity from use spell. Example Beverly Hills we were closed all restaurants California closed for indoor. New York City we were not allowed to open our whole restaurant that was just for the Patio Philadelphia. We're not allowed to open that was got rolled back from August I now to September first. So some of our businesses are not even open yet So but the main driver of that reduction of sales is the increase case cow corona virus around the country and people becoming more and more nervous about going to restaurants even though there's no science dates that that says inherently restaurants, Kobe case outbreaks, her Dr Been Driven by restaurants seating. Indoor and outdoor see. Cameron. What? What are you doing in terms of your relationship with your landlords? particularly in some of those places, the restaurants haven't even reopened yet. Are you getting any forgiveness or any easing of things from them? Well, that's the thing becky you know we had almost all of our landlords help out in some way or another not all but some or most they should say, but that money is just a simple deferral that's So we have an additional three, million dollars we got deferred in. April May and June but that money has to be paid back over various schedules over the next two years. That's just additional debt on the balance sheet, and we come out of this without P P p. one of the things cameras restaurants we built three or four restaurants a year, and if we're saddled with millions of dollars debt if and when we get out of this I don't see a building an aiding the economic rebound in the country in Twenty One and twenty two point further were saddled with all this debt. What have you heard from the the senators you've spoken with on this? I've spoken. Personally to both are centers in the state of Ohio and. They understand our plate and and but I, think they're. All. The negotiation right now over the six hundred, a week stimulus for unemployment benefits. So I don't think it's getting much attention that it needs right now and I hope by the time we get this bill and some sort of agreement between both parties on this bill that we can get this P P P round two stimulus, which has one hundred and ninety billion dollars earmarked for it, which should be more than enough for these companies passed the stress test that show they actually needed. To keep with the original PCP levels P P one camera I want to thank you for the update We we have to check in with you again soon, but we appreciate your time and wish you good
