How Meditation Can Be A Welcoming Heartspace

"Let's take a few moments to find. Whatever posture serves you. Whatever way of sitting standing lying being allows you to feel a sense of presence and ease also feel a sense of safety. Do you feel grounded. Feeling perhaps yourself the gravity and the sense of being on this earth rooted belonging kind of like a mountain sitting with strength and balance also federal. A station. snus around you that. There's there's room in this world for whatever arises. One of my favorite translations of mindfulness is from the chinese that it means present tart sweet feel our intention to bring that presence at heart presence to whatever arises began in a simple way. Breathing together might very consciously extend the in rest now to account of five so breathing in inhaling filling the chest in the lungs and a slow out breath to the counter. Five letting go letting go breathing in nice deep in breath a slow out breath so you can feel. The sensations of the xl as the breath leaves the nostrils again inhaling deeply filling the chest lungs and then as you exhale feel a sense of letting go letting go letting go and then as the breath comes back into its natural rhythm just notice the quality of presence such here the sense of being right here right now that we can touch into even with just a little bit of focused attention we can deepen that presence as bring that gentle attention to the body that heart presents to the body you might begin to softening the is leading the brow be smooth receptive to the sensations that wake up as you relax in the region of the brow perhaps the flickering of light dr at the lids you might bring a slight smile to the mouth which sends a message to the whole nervous system to relax to let go fight flight freeze so it's possible to feel more of a sense of that. Benevolence towards whatever's arising. The job unhinged perhaps the tongue filling the lower palate maybe relaxing down to the root of the tone then opening a receptive way to the sensations in the mouth. Just noticing as you relax that you can be more intimate with sensations. Allow the shoulders to drop away from the neck. Let the awareness fill the shoulders see can feel from the inside out including whatever tension or tightness. Is there with a gentle presence. A soft attention. Notice if there's any natural letting go releasing relaxing the hands are asked in a very easy and effortless way you might explore softening the hands softening again.

You pretty much came up on the internet so we trust you more than we trust google. So here we go. Are you ready. yes. I'm ready okay. Pay right so the first one is this. And it's very timely. Patrick so we wanna know and the internet wants to know how to wear makeup with a mask presumably so you don't ruin your makeup. So funny i saw this on tiktok us take a stronghold setting spray spray the inside your mask and your face and i believe that preparing your face and prepping it and priming it is imported and it's so funny that either launched by my primary it's coming. It's about to launch secure. The makeup magnet primer. 'cause i was developing that prequel but having a good primer strategy and setting sprays strategy so primate setting that and then going about your that's powder or liquid cream will bulletproof your makeup especially for when it comes to wearing masks. Next question is how to apply makeup. In what order. So what featured you do first and second and third and why. Well i had two different faces one. That's more like a daytime. I'll do that. And then i'll brides and called swear blush and i'll finish it off with the lips depending on the day. So that's like my my prefer to order. Do you think that's the most efficient way of doing it. Like just the time-saving lies to get more granular in the steps. Actually do my liner and my lashes and my brows first and then everything would just fog a place. Because that's the most like tedious time consuming part of glamorous. I'm like rushing to do an instagram live or jump into a meeting. I'll just lie lashes browse and just just on some powder foundation or a little bit of conceal her. And it kinda evens skin tone in a little bit of Bomb and i'm good to go and i feel like another perennial. Google trending search is how to apply false lashes and a lot of people. Do this like five minutes before. They're about to leave to go somewhere. So what are your tips and tricks. So you don't feel rushed and you actually nail it. The first time there is a little bit of extra steps that like to do so when it comes still whenever. I'm ready to quit on my lashes island to actually curl my eyelashes with a curler. Before i put it on. So i'll take it along the bed Let's already up. Ed not like sitting on my real eyelashes douse. It's kind of ready. Like pushed up a factor. And that. I'll go ahead and apply a little bit of not underneath but kind of on the top of the lash and then what i'll do is up at all. Set it down. And then i'll do one step as the glue is getting tacky so for me whenever i complete my eyes in my liner ahead put on the lash glue and then i'll quickly broads so by the time. I'm done bronze my face. It already in like thirty seconds to a minute. And then by the time the lashes lashes almost pretty much tacky slash dry and a puppet on a magnet like velcro. Just pop sign. And i'll look down into a mirror a kind of like a table like our particular to my face underneath by chen. And i'll take tweezers than than i'll go ahead and put it on the middle. I pop it in the middle and pop in the outer corner inner corner and a having that relaxed lid really helps without straining to i And a blinking. That we are. You have a focus point looking down into a mirror. What are your favorite lashes while we have you. I have my dramatic dragged eyelashes by one size. I wanted to do this for that. The lgbtq community. 'cause i remember a shopping. You know in different stores. That i was like. There's nothing for the drag queen. So i went for my community. There called come through. Which is what. I'm wearing now. Which is like a worse soft dramatic. I and then i've arrived. Which are might tarantula. Gigantic on fo- lashes. Can schools safely reopen? Doctors weigh in

"At the CDC said yesterday that schools can safely reopen for in person classes as long as they follow safety protocols like mask wearing and social distancing. It'll come as a relief to many parents and potentially a source of anxiety for quite a few teachers. Let's go to a school now. The University of Kentucky we're in person. Classes resumed this week, University President Eli Kappa Ludo is here. Mr Coppola to welcome good to speak with you. Good afternoon. Glad to be with you as well. And congratulations. I know you just started your spring semester on Monday. Maybe there was a time when you didn't think that would happen as planned. How are you going to keep everybody safe? Well, we've learned a lot from our fall semester. We're prepared to retest to surveillance testing, waste water testing. We have all kinds of Ways to keep tabs on our numbers on campus. Those who are positive move into isolation, be able to trace get those folks into quarantine and we built a modern public health infrastructure to do that. Well, as you say, you've had some time to study this because of last semester when you and pretty much every other college campus in the country did have cases of covert. Were you able to learn whether or not people were getting sick from spending time inside the classroom? Through our extensive testing on tracing We saw no evidence of classrooms spread. I think we may have traced some 6000 plus students, not in any of those cases that we see evidence of classroom spread. And so where is it spreading? I know some of your no. One of your fraternities was suspended last summer for breaking covert rules. Is that where people were getting infected? I think some of the harsh lesson lessons we've seen outside of college campuses hold for campuses, and that is When we let our guard down, gather and smaller, large groups, for whatever reason is when you see your outbreaks on Yes. Have there been situations where we had to intervene. We're organized groups wanted to hold things. Yes, way had to put a lid on that. We'll look these air college kids, and I'm not trying to let them off the hook by any means, But they're young adults. Sometimes they make bad decisions. How do you make sure they get your message? You know, are you planning on Enforcing these rules is strictly as possible. We did. We started with a positive assumption, though. And with a strong, healthy behavior intervention, what we called our daily four point of That is our screening testing, tracing all those kinds of things we reinforce. And, uh, yes. They're isolated incidents where people didn't behave as we wanted. It is. I look at my office window today. I'm gratified. I walked this campus. I live on this game. I'm very pleased with the way our students have responded. I think they've been good. Good citizens and something else that has really fascinated me. We've had over 3000 cases. 25% of those have been self reported. And I think it's our connectedness on that. They see us as a resource. And when we come out of cove in and decide who we are and what we want to be, and one of the things we can leverage I think this positive influence on health and health behaviors is one we can capitalize on many schools from elementary schools to high schools to college campuses are worried about students mental health over the past few months over the past year, really, including suicide, Unfortunately, What are you noticing on your campus? Uh, this worries may deeply are students who we have asked physically distant have done so, but it has its consequences. Be able to walk down the hall in your residents facility and get that informal counseling plus the physical counseling we have available on campus. That social infrastructure is vitally important. We tried to replace your students are hurting because they don't have it. Yes. Most certainly, but the resilience I've seen has been a gratifying well, we all hope that vaccinating people can help put an end to all of this right. So you're getting shots into arms on your campus? Who's getting a shot? Who's not? We follow the state guidelines. I think we're one of the most efficient in the state right now is one of the regional vaccination centers. We morphed our football stadium into a site. You register online? All of our health colleges are involved where? Vaccinating over 2000 people a day in the community of Let's just on campus. Well, this is the community of Lexington. Starting first are our public and private school employees in hopes of getting our schools to reopen way have vaccinated thousands of public and private school teachers just in the last week and first responders and then people of the age of 70. So to that point, um, you know what's your best prediction? For the fall of 2021, because I'm glad your classes have started in person this week. That's great news. But what's your best prediction for next semester? In the fall? What will that look like? How close to normal? Could it be? I think if we have adequate vaccine supply and are able to complete that, by late spring, we will reopen, but I think we're still gonna have to be cautious and careful. But as someone who I talked to today said, I know that when I received my vaccine yesterday, I wasn't immediately protected. But the hope that seem to arise within May was immeasurable. Alike. Absoluto, president of the University of Kentucky there in Lexington. Thank you, sir. Thank you for your time. Thank you. Stay say.

We've creamy vanilla ice cream and let it melted a little bit because you don't want to completely frozen and it was absolutely delicious and some of the people on twitter would say in celebration also the vetter always sought the annetta. Look like cuttlefish vice versa. thursday night always shopping night. Vinet gone by eight o'clock It was supposed to lost to wake lived on these during three power cut. Three power cuts. We just left them outside the floor out. Veneta was only served in a sunday dinner. it was a classier ice cream any other night. It was the awful vanilla from the plastic tub and a mate with trying to impress a girl invited around for a meal border veneta for pudding but left it in his bag and it started to melt. He genuinely believed that if he stuck it in the freezer reconfigure and it did not Every time we went to my aunt betty's it was the pudding choice then at a hands down hands up everybody who spent ages trying to cut through the bottom layer frozen chocolate before realizing it was the brown plastic tray. "lid" Discussed on Meet the Press: The Lid

"Welcome to the lead from meet the press. i'm carrie. Dan and i'm mark murray. Well we have some news. This is a lid for us for real. Today's episode will be the last of the lid in its current form. But never fear. If your fans of this podcast will be keeping the flame alive and a different format over the chuck todd cast. We've actually already been doing it every monday here. On the lid along deep dive with a number of the week. If you've been following along either here or over at the chuck todd cast. You've already learned about the origins of the fifty plus one rule in georgia or the most expensive senate races of all time as well as the history of what happens in inaugurations when the outgoing and incoming presidents are well frenemies. If you've liked those episodes we've got good news for you. Because that's what you'll be getting every monday as long as you remember to subscribe to the chuck todd cast on your favorite podcast app but before we go from this format we should after all say goodbye to some of our favorite moments on the podcast. Because we've done this for almost seven hundred episodes if you can believe that we've been with you guys through an impeachment a- democratic primary a botched iowa caucus something that feels like about six hundred debates and even the defeat of an incumbent president kerry. It's been an honor and a pleasure. We hope you've enjoyed it after all through the years you've been are sounding board is we've shared are innovative. Ideas are political. know how and a few hot takes. Yeah maybe a few of these two but here for you today is a plain old take. That's not very hot. it's it's more of a room temperature. Take it's the pasta salad of takes. We've also introduced you to important insider political jargon and the word i'll use is crazy pants. We gave you a little window into our personal lives. Suffice it to say my anniversary dinner wasn't great sorry honey. We made important demographic analyses and old people love orlando like people with man buns love coachella. We introduced you to some political candidates that you may never have heard of without the help of the lead. Sorry that's his real name. Vermin supreme illegally. Changed it so it can appear on the ballot that way. He's the self-described elder statesman of wing. Nuts we lead some accidental pre election night meditation classes. I want you to close your eyes. Take a deep within a deeper out. We got to show off our musical talent. Nana nana nana. Hey goodbye actually. That was mostly mark. Honestly don't you forget about them. Judd nelson throw that fists in the air but we were also on the cutting edge of pop culture news. Justin bieber got married congrats. That's great and of course we hopefully occasionally said some smart stuff give you that one data point that brought it all together. Gave you a perspective on the news. That was unlike any other sell a heartfelt. Thank you to everyone for this wild ride and make sure to subscribe to the chuck todd cast and keep following us over there because we have some great stuff to come carry ready to do this. Let's do it to live for us. That's a lid for us. Hey it's chris hayes. This week on my podcast wise is happening. I'll be talking with kerr swisher about big tech donald trump and the future. There's two things you have to separate one is should they have been allowed to do this to donald trump and i think most people agree. They are businesses. They don't want to do business with them anymore. That's really it's a pretty basic thing. The second part is these platforms are so powerful that there's no other choices for people. This guy has broken the rules of the social platforms over and over again and it's accelerated. How he's broken them. He's like a drunk driver who's been driving drunk for a long time. And he crashed and they said no longer right. Why are we turning to billionaires to help us because we really. This is where we're at. Is that the legislators. Couldn't do anything about this guy and it took two guys jack. Dorsey and mark zuckerberg really an abundance of others. You're right to shut this down this week on. Why is this happening surfer wise happening. Wherever you're listening right now and subscribe..

Man who found Forrest Fenn's famed treasure reveals identity

"So in an episode over the summer i talked about the treasure which had finally been found by an anonymous treasure hunter in june and after being adamant that he never wanted to reveal his identity. The finder of the treasure chest has just gone public blowing. The lid on most of his secrets in an article written by a fellow treasure hunter. In outside a quick recap though forest finn was an air force pilot who later opened an art gallery in santa fe new mexico one filled with plenty of forgeries as arts as tried to do people unclear in nineteen eighty eight. He received a terminal cancer diagnosis and decided to hide treasure chest in some outdoor location for people to find but then he recovered from the cancer. Still he didn't wanna give up on his treasure hunt idea so fast forward to two thousand and ten when quoting outside thin treasure chest containing gold and other valuables estimated to be worth at least a million dollars somewhere in the rocky mountains not long after he published a memoir called the thrill of the chase which included a mysterious twenty four line poem that if solved would lead searchers to the treasurer fended suggested the loot was secretive. Way at the place where he had envisioned lying down to die back when he believed his cancer diagnosis terminal since the hunt began in two thousand ten many thousands of searchers had gone out in pursuit at least five of them losing their lives in the process and the chase became an international story and quote. And yeah i mean the whole thing really has been a wild story people have lost their lives and livelihoods there have been countless lawsuits. You can read all kinds of articles about that have been published over the last ten years leading up to this year when in june the treasurer was finally found and the man who found it decided to stay anonymous because he knew how intense the community of treasure hunters is any feared for his safety but then quickly announced that he had met the winner and verified. He indeed had found the chest the to also decided to keep the location a secret so that it wouldn't become a kind of tourist site where people might injure themselves getting there were risk damaging the nature around it but all of that anonymity lack of closure did not sit well with people who had dedicated years of their lives to finding the treasure there was instant suspicion and then in september fourth fin passed away. The one man who could maybe smooth things over was gone and those left behind were even more dedicated to making sure. His wishes were upheld. With all of that has come a number of court cases in particular one from a woman claiming that the finder of the treasure hacked her emails to steal part of the puzzle that she herself had solved. She doesn't seem to have too much of a case however since she thought the chest was in new mexico and it turned out to be in wyoming but the case is still proceeding in the winner knew that his name would be released to the public as it goes on so he decided to preempt that by outing himself on his own terms the winner. Is jack still a thirty two year. Old medical student originally from michigan. He's keeping as many personal details as possible under wraps to protect his privacy but he does have a bit of a digital paper trail before to med school. He worked briefly at the onion and as a freelance writer. In fact he is the guy who wrote that totally inaccurate article eight years ago trying out matthew inman of the oatmeal as a far right wing. Republican in article buzzfeed had to issue a public apology for and which. I didn't realize until today that i still believed even after meeting matthew in minutes out by south west that same year back in two thousand twelve and discovering that he was a super nice guy. I still thought. Oh but some article made it. Seem like he secretly a jerk. I wonder if that's true. Which is a lesson for me in media literacy and not believing everything that i read especially when it seems pretty off base but also for all of us that no matter how many corrections or apologies you might issue online. There will still be tons of people who only ever see the mistake. That's a lesson that jack stiff learned early on in his career as a comedy writer and is probably part of why he has taken so many pains to remain anonymous in the case of backlash to him finding the prize. If and win all the court cases die down. What will still do with his findings. What does one do with an actual. The goodness treasure loaded up with jewels and artifacts. Stuff says he'll use it to pay off his student so yup the most accurate millennial answer possible to coming into unexpected fortune of. I still have to get the chest appraised which he hasn't done yet and between fins knack for forgeries and his wish that part of the chest displayed publicly so people can visit it. Who knows how much stuff will actually end up getting for all of his efforts but we finally have a few more pieces to the story. If you want to learn more keep an eye out for a book coming out next year called chasing the thrill written by daniel barbara. The writer and fellow treasure hunter. Who got checks to to go public

Busting Internet Skincare Myths with Dr. Ranella Hirsch

"Okay. Welcome dr hirsch can i. Can i call you dr her short call. You can call me rinella fat. Okay so rinella okay. We thought you like the timeless right to have you on the show and really have you like call like like basically like spit some truth on a lot of like internet skin rumors going around. I am here to bring the truth. Okay excellent so excited for this. You guys have no idea now you got. This could be clear about this. You collaborated with us on a lot of the skin-care misconceptions that i'm going to be rattling off. Because we have our own we have a lot of like. Dm's and like emails that people are always like writing us like. Is it true that blah blah blah blah blah and that we've kind of like saved them We'll get to that. We'll do a segment shore. And then you have the questions that people come into your office and say like i've been hearing about that. So we've collaborated with put them together and here of the top myths or misconceptions that we need the truth on okay. The real deal here for him. Number one fungus can feel like family feud. Okay thank you really into. I ask my responses need to be in the form of a question no i i never really. I'm not a jeopardy person. I can't okay. number one. fungus can cause acne survey very very very false. There is no such thing so yeah sometime. We actually map this out there. There's a wonderful program where you can look and see trends on google and if you actually look at this sort of straight line straight by straight line and then march twenty twenty this line kind of becomes an up going mountain in terms of searches for the term fungal. Acne on google. And what happened with we think. Is that someone somewhere on. Social media sort used the term and it just suddenly multiplied and multiplied. Made lots of lots of fun game vs life. Unfortunately that firm is not acne at never will be. Acne is a chronic inflammatory condition of the skin. People genetically produced too much oil. The oil tends to clog the opening to your poor which is where kind of the oil comes out. The hair follicle lids. Those people tend to get what we call. Call me don's acting. We treated a whole bunch of different ways depending on whether you're more inflammatory. Acne mother coma donal acne. What the term. I dare not say it to give it life. The correct name of malice sesia selected as it is called pittosporum and what it is is just a fungus that lives normally it happily on our skin minding its own business going about its day. Now doesn't bother you. You don't bother it but something can sometimes happen where it might be very humid environment might be wearing tighter close. You might be traveling where suddenly your body rhythms a little bit different and that fungus proliferates and you start to get lots and lots and lots and more of them and we see that presenting actually not even that frequently on the face. It's much more on the chest a little bit sometimes on the back occasionally on the airline and actually much more men and what happened. Was that a particular person. Probably thought they acne retreating it. A doctor said oh no it's actually this fungus and the name fungal acne was born. But it's something that dermatologists will recognize heartbeat and they are two completely separate things now. It has become a whole cottage industry. People asked me if they can use less medication with fungal acne. Someone wrote a blog about fungal. Acne approved cleansers. I have no idea what that means. There's all sorts of sort of fungal. Aki discussion groups support systems. It's not a thing never wasn't thing never will be hit thing really straightforward electrolyte from a fungus. That is very easily treated after being recognized diagnosed. Okay follow up question the word acne right came about because of a bacteria that was named you know is is the acne that we think of acne always caused by not that strain of bacteria but a strain of bacteria show. That is a deeply brilliant question to bacteria. Mac which i think is one of the best names in all of dermatology because what used to be called the bacteria that we classically thought of his living in the face so yes and no is the answer your question in the classic teaching you sort of think. okay well into this particular bacteria that's proliferating realistically. The skin has a lot of things going on. And if you start to get especially when you see things opening up when you start to see since when you start to see people picking at their faces other things become introduced into the skin classically. The teaching is yes jennifer. What you're saying but in real world there's probably some element of a little bit of a mixture. Actually if you were culture some of either back to you but there are some guests might be there but again the fungus is living there minding its own business not love regardless of she just has shown yeah. Yeah it's it's really not it's not actually pustules from the fungal presentation it's very much. It's a very classic presentation very similar looking small bums predominantly on the chest or a little bit on the hairline. It's really requested. Can actually we test for it in. The office is not painful. It sounds terrible but a little scrape. It's you wouldn't even know. I was there. We look under. The microscope has very classic presentation boom diagnostic tests. Could we call it. Fungal full icky litis. If you must.

Right Right now, we now, we have have no announcement no announcement for what's for what's happening happening on Wednesday on Wednesday Thursday. Thursday. He's He's going going to be to in be in Florida Florida Friday Friday in in Iowa Iowa and and Wisconsin Wisconsin Saturday Saturday in Michigan. in Michigan. Nothing Nothing yet yet on on Sunday Sunday and then and on then Monday on Monday in in Ohio. Ohio. So when So when you look you look at his at his weak weak compared compared to President to President Trump's Trump's president president Trump, Trump, of course, of course, have those have those three three rallies rallies Yesterday. Yesterday. He'll be He'll in be Michigan, in Michigan, Wisconsin, Wisconsin, Nebraska Nebraska today today and and then in then Arizona in Arizona and Nevada and Nevada on Wednesday on Wednesday and and then nothing then nothing else. else. We've got We've nothing got nothing else else scheduled scheduled for President for President Trump Trump going going up to up Election to Election Day, Day, So So I'll I'll be interesting be interesting to see to see how how this this all all plays plays out, out, especially especially because because there seems there seems to be to plenty be plenty of availability. of availability. If If either either one one of those of candidates those candidates wanted wanted to make to make a stop a stop in in Texas Texas or or any any of these of other these other states states that air that seemingly air seemingly quickly quickly turning turning into into battleground battleground states. states.

"To it. to But it. But to to tell tell you truth, you truth, I don't I think don't much think much will change. will change. But But anyway, anyway, I I wanted wanted to ask to ask you you about about Joe Joe Biden Biden Yesterday. Yesterday. I I the the Early Early indication indication was was that he'd that put he'd put a lid a lid on on his campaign his campaign but but apparently apparently was was convinced convinced to do to something do something because, because, after after all, it all, is it only is only a a week week to go. to go. And And what what they did they did is they is drove they drove in 45 in 45 minutes minutes to Pennsylvania to Pennsylvania for for a a quick quick little little Ah, Ah, Photo Photo op op and and getting getting speech. speech. Do Do you think you think it's it's kind kind of odd of odd that that he's he's with with one one week week to go to go that that that's that's the best the best they can they can do do on that on that particular particular day yesterday? day yesterday? Well Well again, again, if it if was it something was something that was that unplanned, was unplanned, and and they hadn't they hadn't done done it it asleep asleep by by the books the books like like I mean, I mean, if you if look you look at the rest at the rest of his of weak his weak here, here, it's it's pretty pretty filled filled up up with stuff. with stuff. But But when when you you and and then frankly then frankly going going into into early early next next week, week, but but if if this this was was something something that was that was unplanned, unplanned, then then I think I think it was, it was, you know, an you know, an opportunity opportunity that that they took they took advantage advantage of of on some on some level, level, certainly certainly with president with president from from doing doing three three different different events, events, But But Biden Biden was was in in Pennsylvania Pennsylvania the night the night before, before, so so Sunday Sunday night. night. He was He was in Pennsylvania in Pennsylvania having having an event. an event. Trump Trump had his had his three events three events there yesterday. there yesterday. So So I I guess guess just just having having Biden Biden go back go back to Pennsylvania to Pennsylvania is no is big no big deal deal the next the next date over date over so so but but it would it seem would seem is, is, though there though there was was a little a bit little of bit pressure of pressure put put on on him him to do to do something something on on some some level level and you're and going you're going to see to see him him in in Georgia Georgia today. today. If If either either one one of those of candidates those candidates wanted wanted to make to make a stop a stop in in Texas Texas or or any any of these of other these other states states that air that seemingly air seemingly quickly quickly turning turning into into battleground battleground states. states.

"You're about to run out of ways to get through to your kid you're about to run out of patients desire passion your about to run out. Here's the miracle. It does not say that when the woman did what Elijah told her to do that she got more flour and more oil it says that what she had didn't run out. So, here's what God showed me. It always look little, but it will never run out. As close this message. I WanNa know are you willing to take the lid? Off of your little. And stop putting limitations on what God can do through you right now I know it looks little I know the little bit that you have to offer seem so insignificant in the face of the challenge that you're up against but God likes little. In fact, the Scripture says that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed what God is going to do through your life in this season is going to lead something that will outweigh everything you've been through. To get through. Stand on your feet in the room as I close. The, Lord, sent me here today to get your altitude up higher. So that, you can see things like he ceased. And what that woman had wasn't much but it was enough And this is the tension that we live in. It's not much. But it's still enough. And if you can hold those who tensions. Then, you can live by truth and not. By sight. Father your word as powerful. Your word controls the weather. and. Not only that. But your word commands birds to feed us in places along the way. We stand before you right now as global community in the middle of a situation that we have no frame of reference for. Not only is that true of our nation's that's true of our households. That's true of our plans and as we stand before you in this place guy. What we have seen so little. In comparison to what we need. But here you saying, take the lid off. And I think that means you want to exceed our expectations in this season. And I, want you to know Lord that that I'm open to. And for everybody who will come into agreement with this word I joined my faith with them. that it may look little. But it will always be enough. It'll always being off. The miracle is not that it overflowed. All had once the miracle that it never ran out. And I speak over your life and stick over your family and speak over your finances. It will always be enough I. It doesn't look like much feel like much and seem like much but come on up here and get a buffet for. Come on, get up here above it for. Where we are seated in heavenly places with Jesus. Got Always uses little things to lead us. I'm GonNa stay in this moment father because. I feel you tell me to. For somebody who has just a little bit of faith. A little bit of strength. A little bit of home. I got a little bit left. The woman said. Alleged said. All right. Take the LID. Off of your little and watch God key. Supply. And that's exactly why God? God has been using our problems. To position us. For his purpose. We are not. Here. By accident. And we are not insufficient. Thank you Lord. For the. Little. As I go through my week this week. I want to see the little miracles you're doing. How am I going to sit around and wait on something big When these little miracles to keep happening all around me. Even right now, what a wonder. That I could reach around the globe. And speak a word that could reach somebody. Right in the middle of what they're going through. Somebody right now is hearing this word in the dark season of their life. Somebody in the midst of their confusion somebody just needed in encouragement to keep going today and your word controls the weather. Thank you Jesus your word controls the weather. How Buster Help us to. Speak. And See. Like you speak. and. Like you see. My feel like Moses sometimes. I JUST GOTTA LA staff in my head. What am I against so many. Lord I believe you little things. I really believe you'd like little things. I I think you'll like it when we do the little things with excellence. I. Believe You are pleased with the people who are doing the little things. You could be faithful with little be faithful in much. We, thank you for it. Right now, in this moment, I believe drawing somebody to yourself. Got, to, pray for those who? Have felt far away from you during the season. I, pray for those who felt dislocated. And maybe even in their spirit, they have felt like giving up on themselves they still believe in you but they don't believe in them. They feel a little. Belittled. The voice inside of them, telling them so much they've started to believe in. Now. God of all grace we invite you to come into those places..

"I got in a big way in this season of my life. So I was surprised when God led me. To preach on little. In a pandemic. If felt obscene. To preach about a little. When some of US need a lot right now? And and the profit comes up to the woman. And asked her. For. A little. By. Little. Say it. In, falsetto. Little water. and. She was going to get it. He called and a piece of bread. And that triggered her. Because she had so little. When you are. When you feel limited, you operate in fear. This is something a of realize because I thought people sometimes we're being selfish. Beneath what appear to selfish behavior was really that they were scared. And it's easy to mistake scared. For Selfish The woman sound selfish on the surface because instead of giving hospitality to the man of God, she says I don't have any bread verse twelve, only a handful of flour and a jar and a little. Olive oil. So what she says, I don't have any bread I only have. A little bit. And notice what the Prophet tells her to do. He says take the little that you have both. And if you make something out of what you have. God will make sure that you have enough. Okay this this is. This is the word of the Lord. Take the LID. Off a little. Little bit of oil are. Take the LID. Off a little because you say it's a little. But the thing about God is God likes little. He does how did he sent his son to the earth? As a what You mean, not as a superhero. But as a baby. Say God likes little. Way Joy this is your word God likes little. Come on God lights little. I'll prove it to you are privy to you. Who Does God choose to start a nation with one man? Yell and believe me. y'All believe me God likes little. Okay. How about this? He wants to deliver the nation from midnight oppression who to see come to Gideon look up in judges chapter six in the Holy Bible. In judges chapter six, he comes to Gideon and who is getting the smallest in the least clan why God likes little. Oh. No, I'm just I'm sorry I'm just I'm sorry. I'm just over here. God likes little. Prove it to you when getty and got ready to fight. He had a big army. God took him from twenty, two, thousand, ten, thousand. Why did God do that? God likes little then God said something really crazy. You still got too much. You still will take credit if I do it within thousand you'll pick it. Was You so God had to take all the way down getting ready to shout to three hundred. This message is for somebody who has been reduced you don't. Have what you used to have. You don't feel strong insure news Houston know so much now you don't know as much but God likes it will you come to him with a little bit? It gives them something to fill. It gives them something to prove it gives them something to work with it gives them a canvas to paint on God said I. WanNa, get you down to the point. He must become greater, I must become. Less. Take your little. Get your get your little. Get your little feel God on this little digital get your little get your little praise and give it to God right now. That's a little praise. That's a little brace. Exactly. Because some some people right now, you can't give God a big praise. Give him a little brace. Give him a little praise. Give him a little under your breath a little. Give thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. With attitude because God likes little despise not the day of Small Beginnings Because I'm tell you what's going to happen if you start getting grateful if you start magnifying what God means to you if you start giving a little brace watch out, it's about the snowball is about to come on and try some of you have not raised God all week. So right now give him a little brains in your little apartment watching me break on your little iphone. God likes, little Since, something. Expand since something to grow. Something to get glory. Awful Little Come on, come on just a little, just a little, just a little, just a little, just a little take the lid off just a little come. You'll have to run around the house or anything like that. Just a little just take the lid off a little just look up below just give a little just lift your hands right here. Just the right here. Just lift your fingers lift you list your pinky. Pinky praise promise to God likes little God likes when you take your little bit and take the little and start boring out braces dry places. God said I'm going to visit you. Take the LID off. A little. When you give a little. Give a little faith. You have to have a great big. You'll have to you. Know we get. So caught up on big things. Got The need you to have such a big faith. He said if you have. A liberal. Sees. You see my. Best. Known and he said don't be afraid. Take the little that you have I'm not saying little. I'm saying the LID. Off. A little. Take the lid off a little. Take, the LID off..

"Welcome to the lid from meet the press. I'm kerry dan in presidential politics iowa and new hampshire you get a lotta love right. There's a whole iowa state fair thing with the corn dogs in the fairs wheels and the candidates also spent a lot of time in the granite state sagely sagely weighing in on the state motto in america which of course is live free or die. That's the official motto. I think it narrowly beat out the other option new hampshire sure what what do you want but there are two other early states that don't quite get as much recognition nevada and south carolina and because we've got a new poll in south carolina. Let's check in on that state nevada. You'll get your chance. I promise you do matter. The people of nevada are very as sensitive about this so south carolina the palmetto state estate where candidates rise and fall and waistlines just expand because is grits. Here's where things stand. According to the new poll i mentioned which is from the post and courier and change research now as always. We're not gonna read too much into one poll but here's the thing that stuck out the most to us. Joe biden leads at thirty six percent support now so maybe that's not all that interesting. He also leads with about the same percentage in national polls too but what's interesting. Is that that thirty six percent among democratic the primary voters is virtually unchanged since the middle of june in the same poll which means that all that stuff that's happened since the middle of june has not really affected joe biden standing in the race in south carolina at least not yet. Why do i care about that. South carolina unlike iowa new hampshire has a sizeable share of voters of color in the iowa democratic caucuses in two thousand eight black voters. I made up four percent of the electorate same year in new hampshire one percent in south carolina it was fifty five five okay. We can set aside questions here about why two states with so few non white voters get priority in this whole primary process. That's a great question for another day but with so many black voters in south carolina it's become a really important bellwether which is why that biden number really sticks out right because that poll you mentioned samples a lot of black voters and so far they really don't seem that affected by the things that have happened with by since june which included sustaining attacks on his record on busing on criminal justice and on his past work with segregationists all issues that a lot of democrats that we're going to hurt him with black voters but biden is still getting nearly half of the black vote in south carolina even after all that the two next closest candidates are bernie sanders and kamala harris yes with only fifteen percent apiece now. Here's the caveat there's always a caveat. I know it's super early and also south carolina voters tend to make a lot of decisions after voting starts those other states so as much as any poll is were not predicting the future here. We're just looking at one thing. We're noticing now. Oh and by the way south carolina state motto is while i breeze. I hope although my personal unofficial version when i'm in south carolina is while while i inhale the sweet tea. I hope it doesn't actually make my teeth fall out. That's a lead for us. "Welcome the LID for meet the press. I'm Mark Murray so it's been almost a month since the first presidential debates when Joe Biden had his terrible horrible no good very sorry bad performance but if you look at the Democratic Horse race heading into the second round of debates slated for next week it all seems like the last month has been a dream like in the movie vanilla sky or when we discovered Bobby Ewing in the T._v.. Show Dallas was alive and taking a shower or when Dorothy woke up in the wizard of Oz anyway to wear and you're all here. I'm not gonNA leave here ever grammar again because I love you well toto the recent polls and the twenty twenty democratic race show that we're back to where we were on the eve of those first debates a National Fox News poll finds. Finds Biden leading his nearest competitor Bernie Sanders by more than a two to one margin. It's Biden thirty three percent Sanders Fifteen Percent Elizabeth Warren twelve percent and Kamala Harris ten percent virtually unchanged from Fox's poll in June and in South Carolina according to a MONMOUTH survey Biden's ahead of harassed by nearly thirty points thirty nine percent to twelve percent so that's the good news for Biden. He can have a rough debate. Hey Performance and the political environment snaps back to where it was earlier but here's the bad news for them. It is very unlikely he can sustain another tough outing and that's arguably the top story line heading into next week's debates <music>. If Biden has a B plus performance and remember he's going to be in between Kamala Harris who charged atom last month and Cory Booker. WHO's loaded for bear right now? That's going to lessen the talk that Biden's not up for the challenge. Recall it was back in two thousand twelve when then president Barack Obama who probably wasn't used to others challenging him struggled in his first debate against Mitt Romney but he bounced back in the next two ones but if it's another terrible oh horrible no good very bad night for Biden that could produce maybe the most destabilizing events so far in the twenty twenty democratic race creating doubts about five in strength and producing openings for the other contenders so come next week. "Welcome to the LID for meet the press. I'm Kerry Dan you may be perusing. The News for fresh. Piping New hot takes on Robert Muller's testimony to Congress and dear listener I today. I'm not going to do that because there's wall to Wall T._v.. Coverage out there. There's plenty of hot takes and also because I want to talk about something. That's very relevant to today's testimony but was probably talked about way. Less than Robert Muller wanted here is what he said at the very start of his testimony over the course of my career. I've seen a number of challenges to our democracy. The Russian government effort to interfere in our election is among the most serious as I said on May twenty ninth this deserves the attention of every American now I am not fluent wins in Malory's but a quick rough translation here goes something like this and people Russia was all up in our business in two thousand sixteen. It's bad for democracy and I cannot believe that people don't care more and so how much do people agree with that assessment with the idea that future interference by Russia or any other country in our elections should be a major concern. The answer is. Pretty unsatisfying and kind of depressing because it pretty much depends on what you already think about American politics and where you're getting your news now this data is a little bit older it dates from our poll in May but that was right after the release of the Muller report which definitively said that Russians meddled in our elections to help president trump and we asked this question of respondents. How worried are you that he foreign country like Russia will directly interfere in our elections again and here's what we found forty five percent were worried fifty four percent not so worried okay? I hope you're sitting down because this will be shocking but it's three quarters of. Clinton voters said they were worried. Among trump voters just nineteen percent said the same and what the heck let's break it down even further because in the same poll we also asked where people got their news of those who said they get a lot of their news from M._S._N._B._C.. A majority sixty two percent said yeah they're worried about future election interference among those who get a lot of their news from Fox. Just twenty nine percent are worried now. There's at least one thing that most Americans agree on on this topic even if they can't agree how much of a problem election interference might actually be from foreign governments and that's this Americans have very little face that the federal government's will we'll be good at doing anything about it. If foreign election interference does happen three quarters of everyone say they are not confident that the government could predict the country against foreign election interference so.

"Welcome to the lid from meet the press. I'm alex. Have you replayed, apples to apples or maybe it's not safe for work spinoff cards against humanity? It's pretty simple. And now bear with me helps explain the most important. But least understood concept of the twenty twenty democratic presidential primary electability. Okay. Here's how the game works one percents is the judge and puts out a card with the descriptive word like glamorous. Then everybody else puts down another card that matches with the word glamorous. The trick, though, isn't to put down a card that you like most. But to try to pick the one that you think the judge will like most even if it's objectively wrong. Don't believe me, this is the official instructional video from Tel now that judge gets to decide who the winners by listening to the arguments and choosing who here she thinks has the best match glamorous. Bigfoot. Bigfoot glamorous. I mean, come on, who can predicted that really. But there in lies the problem with Democrats trying to pick a candidate like they're playing apples to apples and not like they're voting in a presidential election. We're just not very good at predicting what other people do. And we're even worse predicting the future. Because after all in the twenty twenty version of this game, the judge is an imaginary swing voter from the future, probably in some other part of the country nonetheless, this is exactly what a big chunk of democratic primary voters are doing right now poll after poll is found that most voters say they'll vote for whomever has the best chance of beating Donald Trump. Even if that candidate doesn't line up with their values, and this is a new phenomenon in every other recent election Republicans or Democrats voters said it was more important for them to vote for the candidate in the primary, who shares their values than it is to pick one who stands the best chance of winning the general election. That's because Americans ever, the optimists have always thought that their candidate could win. But then twenty sixteen. Opened and the candidate that everyone thought could win did it. So now Democrats are spooked and they wanna back a winner. The problem as twenty sixteen taught us is that even the professionals aren't very good at predicting the future. So there's little reason to believe that ordinary voters with actual lives could do any better. A new study tried to get democratic primary voters to take off their pundit. Hats and put on there will voter hats and the results were fascinating. I they ask voters, the standard who would you vote for question. Then they ask them who you would make president, if you had a magic wand, you'd think the two answers would be the same because, you know, you'd think you'd vote for the person who you want to be president. But no see the magic wand, question removes any concerns about electability. And so, when voters didn't have to think about that a big chunk of Joe Biden support just disappeared in the magic, wand, scenario Biden went from twenty nine percent to nineteen percent support, while every other candidate support rose slightly, Elizabeth Warren, actually. Overtook Biden, just a little bit though. So Joe Biden is clearly, winning the elective -bility primary. I'm doing air quotes here, but is he really more electable? The short answer. We don't know he leads every poll against Donald Trump, but did Hillary Clinton at this point in the race. And so, two lots of other democratic presidential candidates just not as much as Biden, the long answer. Well, for the long answer, you'll have to read that at NBC news dot com. But in the meantime, keep an eye out for a glamorous Bigfoot. That's good for us. And don't forget to catch up with more politics on MTV daily on MSNBC.

The Research Triangle, beautiful Asheville the Outer Banks barbecue tar heel basketball Duke. Well, let's scratch Duke with all due respect to the great Zion Williamson. So why do I have North Carolina? My mind. Well, it's maybe the most important state in American politics over the next year and a half that has it received the attention. It probably deserves by now. Every political junkie is circled, Wisconsin on their twenty twenty electoral maps, as well as Michigan Pennsylvania, and of course, Florida even Texas became all the rage this week after a Quinnipiac poll showed almost the entire twenty twenty democratic field within the margin of error against President Trump, though is a native Texan, I w-. Wanna wait for another polar to before declaring the Lone Star state a real twenty twenty battleground. But here's the case, why North Carolina should be on everyone's twenty twenty radar screen number one. It remains a presidential battleground, who's fifteen electoral votes are greater than the combined son of Wisconsin in New Hampshire and while Hillary Clinton ultimately lost the state to Donald Trump by three points and twenty sixteen. She was leading in the pre Komi letter polls there and per my reporting and analysis, I'll go to my grave, believing that Komi letter did make a difference in the last two weeks of the two thousand sixteen election. Number two, North Carolina has a key twenty twenty Senate race with Republican income at Thom Tillis up for reelection. If Democrats can recruit a solid candidate this race might determine control, the US, Senate remember, Democrats need to flip at least three Senate seats to win back the chamber and four if Doug Jones ends up losing Alabama. Number three, it's gubernatorial contest with democratic. Governor ROY Cooper up for reelection. Could be the most competitive governor's race. "Welcome to the lid from meet the press. I'm Carrie, Dan? Okay. This is an audio podcast. So I'm going to have to rely on my powers of description here, but I wanted describe to you a chart that has been kind of zigging around Twitter, the last few days, okay? Close your eyes and picture this unless you're like driving or walking in a crowded place in which case don't close your eyes. But picture this chart, which is from the Pew Research Center. Okay. The chart has two lines the top line starts pretty high in the upper left hand corner and just declines little by little as it moves to the right. And the bottom line starts at zero in the lower left hand corner of this chart, and then it grows exponentially until it meets an even goes a little bit higher than the end of that top line. The one that I described that was slowly declining. Mic sense. Okay, the reason this chart has been getting attention. Among the political Twitter Audie is at the top line. One that slowly decreasing represents the number of votes cast by baby boomers and the generations older than them since the early nineteen eighties. And the bottom line, the one that exponentially increases represents the votes cast since the early nineteen eighty s by generation X millennials and generation Z. So that's the youngest eligible voters, right? And what all this shows is that in twenty sixteen and twenty eighteen for the first times there were more votes cast by those younger generations than by the older ones. The exact numbers in two thousand eighteen there were about sixty two point two million votes cast by generation X and younger generations. While sixty point one million votes were cast by boomers and older voters. So this chart makes clear that this gap is big, and it's going to keep growing. So why does this matter other than the fact that the dominant group of voters in America is no longer the key marketing demographic? For the early bird special olive garden. Breadsticks. Okay, here's why actually telling you this candidates try to address the concerns. Right of people who vote, which means that the issues that matter to those younger voters are going to become increasingly important because they're making up more and more of the electorate in fact, in our last NBC news, Wall Street Journal poll, we asked respondents, which were their top issues, the top things that they care about among youngest group. So we're talking money generation Y. They're the top issue was healthcare, which was actually the top issue for everybody of every age. But the second most important issue for those young voters was climate change. Thirty five percent of younger voters said climate change was a number one and number two issue for them. That's compared to just seventeen percents of those who would qualify as baby boomers older voters also tend to be a lot more worried about immigration and terrorism much more so than younger people. Right. I don't mean to be grim here, but boomers are not growing as a part of the electric. Because had we put this delicately in the words of attorney general William bar, the other day dies. Yeah. That was grim. That's that was dark man are UK, but millennials and voters younger than that are growing, as part of the electorate both because of the naturalization of new citizens, and more importantly, just more kids are turning eighteen so they can bring their of Koto toast, and all, but the things that candidates didn't use to talk about like climate change are going to become more and more politically powerful because millennials generation Z are becoming a more powerful part of the electorate. "Welcome to the lid for meet the press. I Mike mentally it seems like just about every democratic presidential candidate was in San Francisco this weekend. Speaking at the California Democratic party convention. A big part of the conversation though, was about Who Wasn't There. Joe Biden currently the front runner for the democratic nomination. There's a lot of talk about just how much or perhaps how little Joe Biden is actually campaigning so far. I've been on the road with the former vice president a lot since he announced his candidacy in April. So let's take a look at the numbers by my count Biden has had thirty one campaign events since entering the crowded democratic field, that number includes eleven public rallies, town halls in house parties, as well as eleven fundraisers, and four of what we call TR's unscheduled stops at a diner, or in Biden's case an ice cream store or two so far. He's been to all four early states Isla New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina. And yes, he's been to California this weekend while other candidates were in the bay area. Biden was in Ohio speaking at a dinner for the human rights campaign, Biden will go back to New Hampshire this week and also attend DNC event in Atlanta so Biden has been on the road. But it is fair to say he hasn't kept up the same schedule as some other candidates. Why? Well, his campaign will say, that's because he doesn't need to. He's leading all the polls, and it has almost universal name ID. He can get precedent for a single tweet without needing to hold multiple events to get his message out, Biden, has also said that he thinks it's still very early in the campaign. Eight months, at least before the first vote will be cast, and that his pace will pick up over time. But there's another factor here. The first democratic primary debate at the end of June Biden's team knows that he will be the center of attention with moderators and other candidates eager to draw by out on hot button issues. So they're spending a lot of time, working to get him ready. And putting the finishing touches on new policy Biden has said no one will work harder to win voter support that's going to be put to the test in the weeks ahead as other candidates, try to eat into Biden's early advantage. But one thing his team insists at this point, he won't attack any of his democratic rivals and aims to keep his focus on President Trump. "Welcome to the lid from meet the press. I'm Kerry, Dan, in sports, and politics and really, just life, the parameters of participation matter like in fifth grade. I made the middle school softball team even though and this is true. My coaches nickname for me was noodle arm by high school. The bar was a little higher. So I was not a participant in competitive athletics. So it goes with the democratic debates with campaigns now on notice that the barriers to entry are going up to review, if you want to participate in the first two democratic debates, you have to meet these criteria as a campaign, either collect online donations from at least sixty five thousand people or register at least one percent in three major polls if there are more than twenty candidates who meet one of those two criteria then preferences shown to folks who meet both. And if there are more than twenty who meet both thresholds than preference will go to those with higher polling numbers. Got it. Okay. What that means is that the debate stage for the first two contests will be pretty crowded. Keep in mind, there are twenty spots available over two nights. It turns out that it's really not that hard to hit one percent in those three polls, particularly when some of these polls have very small sample sizes, according to an unofficial count by NBC at least twelve candidates have already met both thresholds. Well, another seven have hit at least one and we still got until June thirteenth for candidates to try to get to those numbers. But that's just for the first two debates today. We learned that the DNC is ratcheting things up for number three under the new criteria for the third debate. Well, basically double everything I just told you, you have to get to. Two percent in at least four poles and get donations from one hundred and thirty thousand individual donors turns out, that's a lot harder. The difference between one percent and two percents is quite a bit bigger than you might think if you look at the most recent spate of major poll so far, only really nine candidates would be positioned to make that criteria on the pole qualification alone. That would be Joe Biden. Bernie Sanders, Warren, Harris Buddha, judge a work club ajar Booker and Castro, which means if you're one of those other people, the stakes are really high for the first two debates. If you get a breakout moment, you might bust into that top tier, you'll boost your name, ID and collect serious cash from new donors who learn who you are. If you miss your chance and blend into the crowd it's gonna be really hard for those one percenters to stay on voters minds. That's a lead for us if you'd like to. "Welcome to the lid from meet the press. I'm Mark Murray as an observer of American politics over the last two decades, I've seen plenty of policy reversals retreats about faces surrenders call it the walk back. And there are some distinct types of walk Bax one kind of walk back like say what Barack Obama did with the health insurance mandate back in two thousand eight is where you want pose something your opponent did. But then you adopted as your own policy later on. It's the Aerosmith walk back where you mimic someone else. Another kind of walk back like what we saw with Virginia. Governor Ralph Northam regarding that black face yearbook photo is to omit you did something. But then you later deny it call it the moon walk walked back, or at least attempted moonwalk. Appropriate. My wife says inappropriate circumstances. Then there's the walk back Donald Trump employed during the twenty sixteen election lead the birther crusade against Barack Obama. But then essentially admit you never believed it in the first place President Barack Obama was born in the United States period. And then there's kind of walk back that comma Harris and the twenty twenty campaign has tried when it comes to private insurance under Medicare for all pretend you're misunderstood to recap back this January in a town hall was CNN's Jake tapper hair said she favored ending private insurance as part of her support for Bernie Sanders is Medicare for all Bill. Correct me if I'm wrong to reiterate, you support the Medicare for all Bill. I think initially co sponsored by Senator Bernie Sanders here co-sponsor onto I believe it will totally eliminate private insurance. So for people out there who like their insurance. They don't get to keep it. Well, listen, the idea is that everyone gets access to medical care, and you don't have to go through the process of going through an insurance company having them give you approval going through the paperwork, all of the delay. That may require who of us have has not had that situation where you gotta wait for approval and the doctor says, well, I don't know if your company's gonna cover this. Let's lemonade all of that. Let's move on here that let's eliminate all of that. Let's just move on that kind of stance has been consistent with her hugging. Bernie Sanders on his policies as close as she possibly can to protect her left flank, but when tapper interviewed Harris again this past Sunday, she said that she was referring to eliminating bureaucracy, not private insurance in general, a recognition perhaps that not supporting any private insurance could be a general election liability, especially as more and more democratic came in. It's keeping open the option for private health insurance. Medicare for all. But I really do need to clear up on that stage. It was in the context of saying, let's get rid of all the bureaucracy. Let's get all of the insurance company. No, that's not what I meant. I know it was interpreted that way if you watch the tape I think you'll see that. They're obviously many interpretations of what I said what I meant is. Let's get rid of the bureaucracy that kind of walk back call it the bangel walk back like your others heard something in a foreign language like say, a gyp Shen. That's a live for us. "Welcome the lid from meet the press. I'm Mark Murray. Anyone who is applied to college knows that nothing's done deal until you actually get your acceptance letter. You might feel like you have the required. SAT score the good enough grades the nailed interview and the perfect essay. But until you get that acceptance letter, they're just data points in a competition with tons of other applicants that's a good way. To think of the race in the twenty twenty democratic field to make the first presidential debates hosted by full disclosure in B C, news MSNBC and Telemundo in late June. Just this week Marianne Williamson announced that she had met the threshold of having sixty five thousand donations to qualify for the first debate. Now, if you don't know who Marianne Williamson is she's the democratic presidential candidate who's an author feature. It on Oprah Winfrey's old TV show in a one time congressional candidate in California, but she's never had experienced before in elected office. So as Williamson the debate, well, not exactly under the rules by the Democratic National Committee. The first debates will have a maximum of twenty participants. So ten one night ten the next to qualify to be one of the twenty you need to either have sixty five thousand unique donors or register at least one percent in the three recognized national or early state polls. But here's the wrinkle if more than twenty candidates meet either requirement there tiebreakers in with Montana governor, Steve Bullock and New York City. Mayor Bill Blasios expected to run we very well could have more than twenty qualified candidates tiebreaker number one is candidates who have met both thresholds on donors and polling tiebreaker number two is the highest polling app. For the candidates who failed to meet the fundraising threshold and tiebreaker number three's total number of donors fewer than twenty have qualified through the polls. So in Williamson's case crossing the sixty five thousand donors threshold doesn't guarantee you a spot in the debate. She's got a good chance my new, but under the tiebreaker system polling average has primacy over fundraising. Now, we have a good idea of the locks and make the debate. Joe Biden Bernie Sanders. Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buddha JR. Comma, Harris in bed or Rourke. But if there are more than twenty candidates who hit one threshold somebody's gonna get left off the stage win the tiebreakers get applied that could apply to Williamson or congressman Seth Moulton or potentially even Senator Michael Bennet. So word of advice to people who were monitoring who's in and who's out of the democratic debate. You might need to wait for the final word from the DNC because nothing's. "Welcoming the lid meet the press. I'm Mark Murray. Here's a political reality that should comfort Republicans and scare the heck out of Democrats. The odds of always been President Trump's favor to win re election in twenty twenty in our modern politics so over the last fifty years or so a sitting president has had about a sixty or seventy percent chance of winning reelection. And so despite Trump's historically low job ratings as well as all the chaos coming from Washington. Those odds make him a formidable figure for next year's general election. But there's one apparent variable that has helped determine president success or failure in winning reelection that variable whether or not the president gets a legitimate primary challenge. Richard Nixon in nineteen seventy two Ronald Reagan eighty four Bill Clinton in ninety six George W Bush in two thousand four and Barack Obama in two thousand twelve all face. No real primary challenger, and they all one reelection now compare that with Gerald Ford in nineteen seventy six who got a challenge from Ronald Reagan or Jimmy Carter in one thousand nine hundred who got a challenge from Ted Kennedy, or George H W Bush in nineteen Ninety-two who's challenger was Pat Buchanan, they all ended up losing their general election, contests and on Friday. We got the person who could be Trump's first primary challenger our leaders in government should seek to unite us and make us all proud to be Americans and never ever seek to divide us. Because of the many concerns I've talked about today. I have established an exploratory committee to pursue the possibility of my running for the presidency of the United States as a Republican in the two thousand twenty election that was former Massachusetts Governor William weld announcing. He's launching an exploratory committee to run as a Republican twenty twenty challenging President Trump. And it's a big deal. The question here, however is just how legitimate of challenger weld is. Yes, he's a former Republican governor. But he also was the running mate for libertarian presidential nominee. Gary Johnson and twenty sixteen so he's not quite on the same level that say former Arizona Senator Jeff flake would be or current Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse or even former Ohio governor John casick would Trump agree to primary debates with well. Well, we just don't know. But here's what we do know one poll show that about a third of Republicans. They're party to nominate someone other than Trump. Now, that's not an insignificant number two because a sitting president controls his party and its nomination process. It's next to impossible for a primary challenger to defeat the president, whether you're well or flake or sass or casing and three a primary challenger eliminates the presence ability to focus only on the general election, which is a huge advantage of president has a special in the other party's nominee gets just a few months spin on the general election after that primary season concludes. So if you're a sitting president you'd rather avoid a primary challenge, then get one. And now, it seems that President Trump has one that's live for us. "The Good Friday afternoon and welcome to the live from NBC news. I'm Mark Murray unethical untethered a truth leaker in liar, slime ball. Those are the war of words and insults between President Trump and former FBI director, James Comey on this Friday. The thirteenth talk about a nightmare. It all started with the revelations from komo's new book in which the former FBI director criticized the president had fired him for being unethical and having a problem with the truth. It continued with tweets from Trump calling Komi a liar and a slime ball, and it has implications for the ongoing Russia probe as well as the midterm elections in November, a new Washington Post ABC poll conducted before this war of words shows forty, eight percent of Americans finding Komi more believable versus thirty. Two percent finding Trump more believable, a sixteen point advantage for Komi the same poll. Fines, large majority of the public supporting special counsel, Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. And why does this all matter for the midterms on both questions, Democrats and independent side with Komi and Muller's investigation. While Republicans support Trump by and large, we see that same combination of fired up Democrats and independents fueling democratic leads in the polls ahead of the midterm elections for control congress. Now, as the twenty sixteen presidential election reminded us polls in the actual outcome, aren't the same thing, and it's still quite possible that Republicans retained control the house of representatives and the Senate in November. But when the conversation turns to subjects that Democrats and independence agree on whether it's Comi or Muller, well, that's not good news for the president or his party. "It's Thursday, April, twelve, and welcome to the lid from meet the press. I'm Chuck Todd politics sometimes feels like a constant proof of the butterfly effect unrelated developments over here, having unintended consequences over there yesterday, the Missouri state legislature controlled by Republicans released a damning investigative report about the current Republican governor, Missouri Eric writings without getting too deep into the graphic details. The report alleges this that greitens before he was elected, governor forcefully coerced a woman who he was having an affair with. He forced her into performing oral sex on him to compromising photos of her, and then threatened to blackmail her with the photos of she ever told anyone. Now the scandals been building for months. Now in February, in fact, writings was indicted for a felony for invasion of privacy by the DA in Saint Louis. And since the report. Came out Wednesday from the state legislature, people have been calling on the Republican governor to resign to avoid these legal fights. Okay. So why does state scandal involving a midwestern governor who is not a pa- re-election in two thousand eighteen matter today in our little midterm briefing, obviously the allegations made against guidance or disturbing and dark period, hard stop, and that might be reason enough. But what happens next in Missouri is more than just a local matter. That's because Missouri is at the heart of one of the most important and closest Senate races this year. If Democrats are going to win control the Senate, they have to hold every one of their red state, democratic incumbents, including Claire mccaskill in Missouri. So they lose Missouri. Then there's a good chance that the Republicans will hold on to control of the Senate. The incumbent democratic senator Claire mccaskill is running for third term in the show me state, and even with the wind at the democratic party's backs nationally. It doesn't mean it's isn't going to be a tough contest in a red leaning Missouri, but that was before the great and scandal. Her leading opponent is the state attorney general, the chief law enforcement officer in Missouri, Josh Halley. Now he is from the same party as grains, but he's also called on guidance to resign. And while he has nothing to do at the allegations, it is one of those things that could have a trickle down effect on the party itself, which is why alley along with a lot of Missouri Republicans would like greatness. It just get out of the way. Now you're gonna see more Republicans lineup in calling rights to get out. You've seen almost the entire congressional delegation, including congresswoman, Ann Wagner. Another Republican from the Saint Louis area. She is somebody in fact that many Republicans wanted to see run for the US Senate thinking that maybe she would be a stronger candidate against mccaskill. She decided not to run, but she's also saying, no, she, by the way, came to congress, replacing a gentleman by the name of Todd akin and well, you might remember Taty cantata can was the conservative congressman who used that phrase legit. Chitimia rape in an interview in two thousand twelve the last time that Claire mccaskill ran for reelection and guess what? She was able to use that and win a surprising reelection bid back in two thousand twelve. So here's Claire mccaskill hoping that the state's political environment in a state that has been trending Republican. It's very much parts of Missouri, very pro-trump on paper. She said, have a hard time. But here we are. This scandal may be political gift to her and political problem for Howley going forward, but pay close attention on this one because greatness isn't going anywhere. He wants to go to trial and Saint Louis. He wants to fight the legislature. We'll see if he still wants to have this fighting about a month, but I don't think he's going anywhere in the next few days is for sure which is only going to frustrate Republicans nationally. "Good Wednesday afternoon and welcome to the lid from NBC news. I'm Chuck Todd. So Paul Ryan made a big announcement today, not only not gonna run for re-election more importantly. He's also calling it quits as house speaker, and this sets up fallout in three separate areas. Two of them campaign related. Obviously, the biggest one being vacating the speakership, which means there's going to be a new leader of the House Republicans and twenty nineteen. Now, we don't know if it's going to be a new speaker that's a Republican or a new house minority leader, but the two names to watch and replacing Paul Ryan are Kevin McCarthy. Currently the number two in the house leadership and Steve Scalise the number three in the house leadership allot of it. You're gonna see a lot of jockeying between the two, but keep a couple of things in mind. Number one, Kevin McCarthy, closer personal relationship with President Trump. One thing to watch here, just President Trump put a Fink, put his pinky on the scale for say, Macau. The in favor of Scalise. Maybe he wants the house from new House Republican leader to him how the president plays in this race will be fascinating, but if Democrats do in control of congress and they do so in the backs of sweeping a bunch of races and Kevin McCarthy's backyard of California, Steve Scalise, a red state Republican from Louisiana will be able to make a case that maybe he's more reflective of the Republican party follow number two. For Paul Ryan's announcement his actual congressional seat in Wisconsin. This seat is now in play. It may have been play even if Paul Ryan was running for re election, but without him, there Democrats have a couple of candidates. One who was raised a big chunk of money Republicans now have to scramble. They have a couple of months finding deadlines in June to find a cannon. But this is a district that has been represented by Democrats before Paul Ryan was there Barack Obama came within five points of carrying this district when Paul Ryan's name was on the national ticket back in two thousand twelve when he was mitt Romney's running mate. So that means. Yeah, at one more race onto the the old reelection Barbie there for for Republicans to have to defend. And then the last fallout from this announcement to me is more symbolic and something to think about over the next decade which is as President Trump reshapes the Republican party. There's not room for Paul, Ryan. If Paul Ryan's version of the Republican party were alive and thriving, he wouldn't be walking away. He wouldn't be walking away like this in the middle of tough election year. So this is just yet another sign that the leader of the Republican party and the Republican party itself is not only Donald Trump, but Trump is them. So it's going to be yet another battle of Republicans having a Power struggle. We've never had that before here in Washington, halfway something to follow as the year wears on that's a live for us.
