"Singer. Jelly wolf was raised as a jehovah's witness a community that had very strict rules. Jelly grew up. Not knowing her father. A survivor of the sixties scoop that saw tens of thousands of indigenous children from across the country taken from their families by the canadian government and adopted out mostly to non-indigenous families between the nineteen sixties and the nineteen eighties. As a child he was stripped of his identity. So jay le-. She grew up in what she calls. A doomsday cult raised as a jehovah's witness in a small town in bc. It wasn't until she was seventeen that she learned who father was and that he was indigenous. A member of the soto. First nation jamie's identity has shifted through the years the community she was raised in forbade engaging much with the outside world let alone making music so she left to discover who she really is and pursue a life of self expression. Daily wolf joins me now from her home in toronto gaoli. Welcome to the show. Thank you so much for having me. So that song that we just heard child of the government it centers on the trauma. Your dad and family experienced in the sixties scoop. You wrote this incredibly personal song about him. But what did you know about who he was when you were growing up. I didn't know much. I knew that will. I thought that he was of mexican descent and my mom told me that. He struggled a lot with addiction issues and that was all i knew of him And then being in the religion. I didn't just never really thought to. I don't know reach out. I saw him one time on a street. Actually and i was just walking down the street with my grandmother. And my just kinda of looked like. Oh wow i remember disturbingly. You know who that was and i was like. Yeah those my dad. And i've never seen a picture of him or anything so it was really the only thing i knew my dad. I saw him once he dark skin. I thought he was mexican and he struggled. That's all. I knew

"A plane ice cream. i like vanilla. Only exception i make is my favorite ice cream. Flavor is maple walnut so obviously that has walnuts but otherwise. I'm just a an old school plane ice cream guy so just corcoran knife and some vanilla ice cream and you just go to town. That's right that's right. Open up a half gallon try. My heart is not to eat it all in one sitting. That's me. I love that. You don't love toppings but your favorite ice cream has a topping in it. Well it's maple walnut. It's got maple walnut within it but nothing on top like i would never put chocolate syrup on top of my maple walnut ice cream and maple and walnut is very natural ingredients. Because you like that kind of old fashioned flavors you remind me bombing food. It's a new england flavor. And i'm born in new england and i just love that is can. What's your favorite flavor. Everybody that's a good question. Good toscan cream. There's gonna be some we're gonna get some meant meant baskin robbins. Mint chocolate chip. No not okay. I thought we would. Kate is so right though. There's no older sounding ice cream and maple walk. There has to be though right. I'm raising macadamia raising raisins for jerry. Like a teenager going now. I'm getting the maple walnut. That's right everybody. The middle is where it's at stash. Oh killing lemon. Ice cream is something that only old people would eat. Whatever though right. That's another thing we talked about this a bunch. I call it sherbert. Even though i know that there is no that you're adding their billion sorbet sorbet. Those are two different things. Yes yes yes or bay. Shurmur are different. No not sorbet burt. Yeah exactly yes correct. You're saying them. No no i just a minute. God's favorite ice cream flavor. I like the cookies and cream from ben and jerry's so good as kate said anything that's a vehicle for orios or cookies and cream. I'm here for this as oreos and chocolate job. Delightful this is gonna be weird but my favorite is well. I like july more than i like ice cream. But my favorite gelato flavors like anything. That's like a mascarpone. Like dark cherry type thing like kinda like taste like a holy filling but in a lot of form. That's my favorite sounds good. I don't like cherries. that's my contribution. Chris cherries of things. I don out like stupid. Like blow pops. Cherry blow pulling anything with cherries. I don't like actual chair okay. Well how can you eat. Blowpipe haven't had one in years. But i just like i don't dislike cherry blow pops but i don't like anything like with cherries on top. I like to artificial cherry flavor on sherry starbucks. Get if somebody gave me like a speared cherry on a drink. Yuck i wouldn't eat nassar. Jackie medicine cherry versus black cherry. Good white cleaver no. No it is oh man. What is that a thing that we've talked about. I don't understand why white clauses san. I've never happened feeling pretty classes about it. Honestly because the best invention of the first century for me seltzer. Can we put that on. The paul white clause the greatest adventure in the twentieth century. It's crazy how many spin offs capitalistic white claw is about keeping your shape and your figure while you drink right like white clause like it's about how you can drink but still be super fit. It's not really what you want to be drinking. But it's the thing that fits into concentric circles of like it's not that many calories. It's not that many carbs at a really wanna be drinking it. But it's the best version of this terrible thing that i could different your white claw. And then you get on the peleton later as though sawyer. John does that roy. Has anyone ever done that. Maybe you do the peleton first. And then he drink whitecloud later. I think the health they treat for yourself. The health stuff is part of it. But it's also great outdoor drink like it's got cornered the market and i'm gonna be out drinking so this is chris. I know you love high. Noon's i saw you. Drinking one liners then neuner and numerous and whitecloud truly like they're all in same category of hard seltzer and like honest to god. Heard saulters have changed my life. Because i am someone who cannot and does not drink beer because i am allergic to it and so having something in a can form that is refreshing and has the same amount of alcohol so i don't have to have like a vodka soda or something that's going to me like really hammered off like one or two. I am a lightweight for what it's worth being able to drink something like a little bit lower. Ab refreshing on a hot day like that has my life while you're legit. A beard hurts. Dad has that make reveal. Had that hit you dad. When she said she's allergic to beer. I winced i winced I was. I was walking in her shoes. All of a sudden imagining how that would be. Yeah but it's more than that. You're allergic to jessica Well i avoid wheat. It makes me very sleepy tired. So i can't eat it anymore on fudge. Nah my feeling about why clauses that nothing tastes more like an artificial flavor than white clause. It feels like like the cherry flavor is like red number forty seven put inside of a white claw it doesn't taste anything like other flavors and its own thing and it just so artificial to me. I can't help but feel super judgmental. Avoid claw and. I don't wanna feel this way when i went to a wedding and all they had was wine or white cloth. What's that's weird. I like white. Yeah that can't be the only white claw or there's just something about it that you don't like at that wedding i had one i mean. I think it's flavored dependent. Is what have been old if i had a flavor. That wasn't good. I didn't find my flavor. Mango or black people. Say but i think i'm more rejected on the basis. That people often the people. I am seeing drink it. I think that they're drinking it because they don't like calories and saying nothing is you just. Everyone has their own reason. And i don't think they actually want to be drinking it. I think it is. It's like a it's like a capitalistic. I'm the i need to have the perfect body pursuit. no and i. I don't like that either. Your over figures. I just think it's trending and trendy things. Whitecloud became a thing and the no everyone drinks white claw and everyone has to profess to to like waclaw by the way in social settings. I have professed to like whitecloud. I hate it in for this. And i thought so. I thought that professing that you didn't like what was really the place to be so it seems like i'm on the wrong side show. Okay no so. I think so. You are someone who likes to be counterculture then because how just because you don't like why claw no because if you're saying like you're saying disliking white claw is the place to be like. I think that is against the common wisdom. Which is that you know. Every all the kids whitecloud like you just said you don't like white club you pretend to like well. Yeah i did. I pretend like club. Because i thought it was the popular stance. I feel like cages. Had to take and we're going to be honest. I mean. I don't like white claw and i say that i don't like whites law. That's my position on it. And i do think that like i do think my rationale for why i don't like it like i would like to be proven wrong on that because i do think that i see a lot of people drinking it. And i think that they're obsessed with their bodies like having perfection in their bodies like landed on the white cloth as the thing they can drink and still be a part of drinking culture. I don't think that you're wrong. Because i think like if your college age and you're drinking more than say like three four drinks at a time you're probably going to have a light beer and so white claws just the alternative to having light beer where it has in my opinion a little bit better flavor than like natty but like you're still not over you know the calorie intake is is comparable. It's probably like one hundred calories a can or something like that. So you're not drinking two thousand calories a day but you're still getting a buzz on. I think i think you're on. I do think until me if you think i'm wrong. I think that white claw as a brand is associated with pretense sort of like driving a land rover. Am i wrong. But i don't think it's a landrover. I think it's like a kia.

European Super League: What It Means for UEFA, Other Leagues
"European soccer league. This was trending on sunday. Basically it's a league that's in the works that would take the best teams from the english. Premier league la liga. which is the spanish league syria. Which is the italian league in the bundesliga. The german league and had them play in a top tier superleague which would be like a season. Long uefa champions league rather than those teams playing their regular leagues the other teams. Just fight it out for the top spot. What does that do to the regular leagues. So critics say it's gonna kill the regular leagues does so well. This is the one positive is it gives leads a fighting chance to win the mvp l. Yeah le- ot that you take the six best teams from england out and lead susan like ninth place right now. The top of it yeah. They're finishing top of the table. So go ahead. I don't like hate on this from kids. That never made the all star team. I wanna see a super league owners of teams like maybe not leads but like fulham's or not on the all star team they're like oh we don't wanna be destitute. Don't lost about invited the playboy mansion right. it's like the teams in laliga. That only sell tickets when real madrid comes to town. Those are the teams. That really. don't want it all now. that's that's interesting point because the so many teams but like you take away. Barcelona and real madrid from laliga. That's fucked you take. You can really fuck some of these leagues. You take byron munich from this leaker you fuck them. Yeah that's that's tough but a lot of the good teams have already signed up and said that they're down to do it so happened. Advertisers her in the money's in the money the money's there the teams are in. Yeah it soccer. So that's a billion layers red tapes. I couldn't even begin to unravel it. When i was reading reading for this but i we'll see if it happens.

Gurney was like really into musical theater and could sing kinda well but land gurney johnny dead. Oh his dad and his mom were the golden couple. Yeah sorry guys come on. I'm just going to move on. it's my birthday. i'm already drone. Dan wasn't born with a silver spoon of privilege. But rather a gold star family achievement. His dad was the lead basso at the metropolitan opera of new york. And also saying on broadway. I nailed it. I was totally guessing that his dad was a way. You weren't even guessing you were joking. Joking oh my god. I love it. I have a lot of respect for people who can just stand up and sing in front of people. Because that's like my biggest fear. I can't do that one step ahead of the bad guy and the square deal only one. I can't afford my god level. Respect level just went through more. That came from go up after the pod. Wanting a simpler life. John relocated the family from new york to riverside california buying an operating a citrus orchard. And giving up the opera for oranges
The Music of World Showcase in EPCOT
"If i say the music of epcot what's the first song that comes to mind. Probably something from future world and as we covered extensively back on show six nine six ten future world has background scores and attraction and so show themes that not only. I think resonate with us but are enjoyed by us beyond just our time in the parks. They are on our playlists and in our ears when we drive run exercise. I'm obviously like reaching and assuming those last two or whether we're just relaxing at home but why which is my favorite word. And i think it's probably because so. Many of these songs were created by disney for disney they are original themes built around the theme using the time-tested recipe of what makes disney music so memorable but for the other half of the world. Showcase much of the music is not only traditional but helps to set the stage and represents the culture of the participating nation. And these aren't songs. I think that we would normally associate with a theme park experience. Either that is like if we're talking about walt disney world But some of my favorite songs. That dizzy songs are found in many of these background. Loops of not just future world. But some of these world showcase pavilions and they always seem to bring a smile to my face as they hear them. Whenever or wherever i am and i said on the intro to the epcot show that that the music is very much a melting pot of so many cultures ideas ideals technology and different flavors. And it's a place that you can hear music that is as diverse as the pavilions and cultures and speaking of diverse. I want to continue our musical journey from future world to world showcase once again with friends who helped kick off this musical odyssey so i'd like to welcome back to the show. Lisa denote glasner from the castle. Run and core memory candles dot com to be back. Jason connect from here with the magic and the after our show on the facebooks. Hello it's good to be back with you guys and the one and only zac brown from the one and only the zac brown show. Everybody excited to be here. So i am excited for this. And i'm curious to one because i want to see if hopefully we can beat or not break record long. Our future world discussion was. But i think and i'm curious because we don't talk about this ahead of time how this may differ. Because i think again so many of those future world songs and themes are ones that we can mention by name. Papillon came up again. I think exactly you know if it was a drinking game and papillon was your word. You're in some serious trouble but so much of world showcases different because one. We can't pronounce many of the names the songs they don't necessarily roll off the tongue and they're not one that we might necessarily know by name but we know in terms of how they make us feel and they are there are some pavilions that have themes or some that. Just have background music that we enjoy very quickly. When and they'll round in the same order. When you think of world showcase when you think of world showcase music what is the first song idea pavilion. Thought that comes into your mind for me. I remember when we sat down to do or when was sitting down to prep for the future world. Show i joked that. I've never felt so prepared and so unprepared at the same time for a topic because it was like it was a topic. That's just sort of ingrained in my soul but at the same time i didn't know quite how i was going to articulate it and This show said hold by juice because like the rest of disney right is supposed to sort of insulate you from the rest of the world and i think the unique thing about showcases that it has the opposite job. It's supposed to transport you into the rest of the world. And so while you know so much of the music throughout disneyworld otherwise as supposed to sort of encapsulate you and bring you into this place. You know. the imaginary kind of didn't do their job right right if they did. If that's the result of in world showcase because the point of showcases to make you feel like you're not in central florida. It's supposed to make you feel like you're traveling around the world. As you're walking around world showcase so i don't know if i have a quick good answer to like what song first comes to mind. it i mean i could say something. Easy like golden dream of course. Which is you know sure. We'll talk about that more But now i think it's it's like background stuff. Like le vian rose and like the stuff that green and like that. The the the music that i just associate. Because i'm here. So much with walking around world showcase but at the same time you know like you said in the intro. It's not necessarily music that you're supposed to associate with a theme park. Don't you have a green sleeve. The greens leave story to which will have to get to. Because i remembered crossing the bridge an international gateway with you and i said isn't the screen sleeves using it yet and then you told me a story from your childhood is i am. I am right. I mean who doesn't have a green sleeve story like there's a green sleeve story and i want to don't jump ahead of ourselves but that really from my childhood i whistle. Inslee leaves all the time and it makes my mother crazy. Maybe i was just hoping it was from your childhood. Okay i i mean to answer the question. What's the first song pavilion jumps to mind. It's gotta be mexico and it's got to be the three cobb heroes right like that's got to be no actually. It's not that i think. The the for me world showcase had an anthem and no it can't be eliminations but it had an anthem. It would be basically the soundtrack to impress his france. Of course which. I am super excited about francine far away i know he s- t and wonderful. We'll get there For me it's kind of an unfair answer. I think about the international gateway. It's kind of this. Great little collaboration of everything that you're going to experience it's kind of the coming attractions. You know like lisa said you've got le vian rose and you've got a little bit of music piping in from like the china pavilion and everything just kind of blends and it just sets the overall tone and of prepares you for the pallet. That is in front of you whether it be musical or food you kind of preps you and gets you in the mindset that is world showcase and for me you know if i was to close my eyes and just say world showcases a couple of songs that jumped right to the top but one of them and this is actually a great way for us to begin. I think is. There is a world showcase background loop and being disney enthusiasts that you are. I'm pretty sure. It exists on your iphone or ipod your spotify playlist because this is one of the ones that i think people do have an play when their home or even in their cars or when they're working or walking or just relaxing and while you might not necessarily know the names of the songs if you were to listen through it and serbia following along this. This item list of the music yelich like. Yes inca dance by cousteau. That's my favorite song. Although you wouldn't walk into sam goody's not that there's a sam goodies but go with me here. You wouldn't walk in goodies and say i need incan dance on forty five guys have that. But i love the world showcase loop that you can hear on both entrances to where you could. We'll talk about some of the changes that came about relatively recently but those are some of the songs that i hear that like the future world entrance mentally
Will Le Bron Win the Best Defensive Player of 2021?
"LeBron wants to be he could he could really be the best defender in the NBA some of the plays he made tonight when the chips started to fall against the Lakers things started going against GM and momentum started to swing it felt like LeBron picked up the defense and everybody else as they usually do followed his lead and he made some incredible place and that was I mean amazing, we we say it all the time but thirty years Years old. I have no idea how he's doing this. Yeah, and there's the one there was the one LeBron block that got called a goaltend was not a goaltender. I was horrible. Yes. But yeah, I think you know, it's weird to think of a thirty-six-year-old winning defensive player of the year, but he he's making a really solid case. I think he at the very least right now has to be top three. We're looking at Ben Simmons the you know, perennial have to throw in Rudy. Gobert his name cuz Rudy gobert exists. Yeah, and I feel like LeBrons right in there with those three.
Kansas splits with athletic director Jeff Long two days after parting ways with Les Miles
"Get you updated on what is happening in lawrence kansas. Where less mild was let go the other day and then this afternoon the man who hired him and presumably let him go has also been shown. The door crisslow joining us on that story and others. Chris thanks for the time. Always good to have you on and give us the latest. How did how did how did this happen. So quickly with jeff long. It's great to be with you. Always i I really felt like we heard the news about less miles that this was just it was going to happen with jeff law and just did not senior way. He would survive. I think what happened in a lot of donors a kansas at the end of the day. The president a chance to learn. Douglas giradi heard from several influential donors that they just did not want to be the guy to hire the next head football coach and i think when you look back sort of having all the down with less weight ended there that The more that they thought about it. And i think jeff athletics look long enough to know he said in a statement. Today was going to be a huge distraction more hung around and and they wanna make a clean break. Bring somebody else in to hire the knicks head football coach. Oh by the way they got issues the basketball program. Well they certainly do. And i saw her. Danny manning announced that he was a contender for the ad job. But as we. I don't know whether tennessee is the template but you do need an athletic director to get in there. Fairly quickly don't you. Yeah you don't the what's your proverbial tail wagging the dog. So yeah you gotta bring somebody else somebody. And it's going to be the ad someone that's that's gonna be the football coaches boss. I tell you name to keep in mind. Travis goff and northwestern we went to kansas undergrad. There how highly respected and sort of in the world. And he's a guy that you're going to hear a lot of push for from donors from influential people there k you to bring in to come in higher this the next head football coach. I think a guy will be certainly equipped to deal with. What's going to come their way on the basketball front as well talking to crisslow chris. Let me just take a step back and go back in time time to lsu and unless miles and after this information dumped the other day and learning much more about what happened down there and what didn't happen. I'm curious as a reporter who has covered so many scandals in so many so many big stories in college football just your your takeaway from from the progression of that program with with joe alita and less miles to to really where it is now and where does it go to try to clean up a rather tattered reputation. Yeah you think back to two thousand eleven ten years ago paul. Lsu's on top of the world now. Granted they lost alabama national championship. But that was a great football team In in a team that was is elite as it gets and now here. We are ten years later and they won the championship last year. But a lot of things off the field. A lot of things going on you know you. You always felt like there at the end of his tenured. Lsu that there was a lot of people. They're out to get him. When i say out to get him that wanted to move on. I just felt like they could do better. But as you know you know the sec. As well as anybody yeses. He thinks they can do better. Except for maybe in tuscaloosa And i think the some of the political forces around lsu sorta helpless. We're on his side to leave. Certainly it and four games the sixteen season they got it in. You heard jimbo. Fisher's name all sorts of aim. Tom herman the end up with a lot of people felt like that was never going to work with all the old winter national championship last year and really a great job assembling people going out and getting staff around in but now here we are off the field with this complete invested in investigation. As some of the way things have been handled with sexual assault domestic incidents going back before was head coach So you're right. There's there's a lot on their at lsu Just like kansas. You've got issues with the basketball team as well So it's It's a mess right now. We'll see where it all
Kansas athletic director Jeff Long steps down after the Les Miles scandal
"Another head rolling in kansas. Jeff long reportedly out as athletic director one day after parting ways with less miles. Long the former arkansas. ad Made the call on less miles and after what can only be described as as a disastrous press conference yesterday was shown the door today according to multiple media reports so that is where we are this
Kansas Coach Les Miles Out Over Behavior With Women While at LSU
"And hello and welcome back. We continue to talk about the situation in kansas Formerly lsu were less. Mild is under employed in case. You missed it earlier. The headlines of course have been screaming since last night that les miles in kansas have mutually parted ways. That's a rather benevolent way of putting less were shown the door. He had a disastrous. Run there but it was what happened. In two thousand thirteen at lsu that ultimately got him fired. Reuss feldman has covered less miles for a very long time in bruce. Thanks so much for the time shafran we want to talk to you about including your pizza just hit about the the nfl mock draft. But let's start with less miles not a surprise. But what do you think Finally pushed kansas over the edge and And did away with less after what has been coming out for days if not weeks from baton rouge untenable this the idea. Kansas jeff long's the ad there obviously sec. Fans will remember from his time at arkansas. It's just been an abysmal run. And the fact that has searched process get less miles there in the first place was kind of a jolt in kind of a head scratcher but now after what had come out from Over the weekend. And friday from the lsu part of this. I don't know how in twenty twenty one kansas could say. Oh yeah we're okay with that just even if you look at the wording on how jeff long explained the move last night it was just like we got to win more games. It was like wait a minute. There were some really Disgraceful actions that are alleged against less miles from his time at lsu. And i don't know how they could look the other way with a straight face and say okay this a guy who the lsu administration had clearly put some you know unique situations around him and stipulations in dealing with people and some of those allegations are so troubling and so disturbing. I really think they had no choice but to move on. And the wording parted ways whatever they just had to make a change and get him out of there. And i'm suspect at some point in the nazi just future an after avenue. Ad as well. Yeah that was. Obviously a lot of people are going now and you know jeff. Long didn't exactly distinguish himself at arkansas. Were shown the door there and surprisingly or maybe not. Surprisingly the program has been on fire under hunter year. Check but i mean how can you. How can you possibly keep jeff long on the job after mean and football's only part of the problem. The basketball program has been under fire for years. Exactly i mean there's issues with the ncaa and the basketball program ac- basketball is a bigger deal there than football. But i think in this. It's so many issues. That are layered together. And i think it's the tone-deaf aspect Jeff lungs long relationship with last miles The allegations in the things in those investigations about less. They are really disturbing. Act act especially as they relate to student workers there. I think it's really troubling and the fact that k. You in jeff. Along the way it was explained. Even if you look back i think over the weekend. Less miles attorney gave us gave a statement that i think makes may kansas look quite honestly even worse that they kind of knew about it and that they were okay with it was almost like well because other people were alarmed by now that it was that it was something that was like shouldn't have happened just because of the perception on it i just think it all of it is made that tenure. Look so sketchy. And i just don't know how your kansas how you don't kind of rip the band aid off at this point and say hey we gotta make a different a different move here. I just think right now you look at it yes the. Ncaa extended the dead period much longer. So they don't really have to rush in through this coaching search process. But who's going to be making the new head football coach higher in this. I mean this is a lot of stuff for the kansas administration to sort out as they move on not just from last miles but i think as they move in a different direction for. Who's in charge of the parliament.

Rudy Gobert's Transformation Started In The D-League
"On sunday rudy. Gobert made his second straight appearance in an nba. All star game. Tom make it a second confederate and for years. Now the big man with the even bigger wingspan. There's been a dominant force within the nba. Tolbert defensive player of the year. There was a time when that was not the case. Time when rudy gobert future was very much in doubt. Today the fx christopher come ronnie takes us back to the time when go gobert was uncertain about where it was headed and explains how he climbed his way to the top. They knew that if he could fill out if he could continue to develop defensively and add various tidbits to his game. Offensively could potentially become a game changer in the league. That's their mind in rudy's mind. He always believed that he would took from wondering athletic. I'm under scotto. It's monday march eighth. And this is the league. It felt like something great emotion and ask past. I s not get this. This is here. you're gonna be the athlete. It stays with you so chris basketball fan today. Think of rudy gobert this absolute force you know a guy who dominates around the rim often makes other teams change their style of play when they face him. But you recently spoke with rudy and wrote about how that has not always been the case so take us back to the days when rudy gobert was not yet rudy. Gobert there. Yes so rudy. Gobert was drafted by the denver nuggets in two thousand thirteen and acquired by the jazz in a draft night. Trade played for show les the french league and his sizeable things into the twenty seventh overall. Pick and he came into the league as a relative unknown. What you'll bring to this team. I mean i i know. You're very long and and a defensive presence. What do you think you can. How can you help this team right away right away. Yeah can we. He had worked his way up the international level coming up in france he had to work himself onto the radar of even french national teams. He wasn't really all that known as a fifteen sixteen year old. How long have you been playing basketball nine years nine. So did you grow up playing soccer before he was on jazz team. That had several high draft picks on it. They had derrick favors. Ns canter to former high draft picks. Big men that played rudy's position. They had a veteran and andreas. Who was a veteran presence on that team as a big man and under that regime rudy kind of found himself as the odd man out but the jess drafted him and took him on as a project and he apparently was not the most stylish guy. What he i community league. yes so obviously. When you're twenty one year old seven foot one kit. That's tall and gangly. It's hard to find clothes that fit you. Great i was going to be on. Is doing right now if you see rudy these various nba awards where he's won the nba defensive player of the year. Two times now. He's showing up and looking very much like a stylistic parisian that he probably always wanted to be back in two thousand thirteen when he was still sort of odd man out on the jazz as you put it. He got sent down to the bakersfield jam of what was then the d. league. i from a life standpoint. What was it. Like for rudy gobert. End up so far off the beaten path and you know in one of the rougher parts of california yes so it's a culture shock for anybody. I think who wants to be a professional basketball player to have to go to a place like bakersfield. California bakersfield has kind of a rough and tumble streak about it. It isn't the most friendliest places. Well tonight we are taking an in depth look into black tar heroin and its presence here in kern county. Rudy's coach will void talked about it would be culture shock for anybody. Let alone a parisian arriving in bakersfield. Which is we're like community area where where are rena and everything was based. That is kind of like mess. Mess capital of the world. So i think he was not going to find a croissant sprint. Snow and anywhere around there. The coaches just told him to stay in his hotel room. And just relax tries to be honest. tells hotel for the most in when he wanted to go work out at the gym. the bakersfield complex. Had you know that all that stuff in their facility but it was very much like. It was almost like a private school in that. He went from work to the hotel room. And that's

KU places Miles on leave, will conduct full review
"Of Kansas Friday night, placing head football coach Les Miles on administrative leave this as K U prepares to conduct a full review of the findings of a 2013 internal probe. Of miles while he was head coach at L S U the findings of that investigation going public this week and revealing allegations of sexual harassment levied against miles by female student workers allegations that he has denied Kansas Athletic director Jeff Long adding in a statement even though the allegations against him occurred it ls you we take these matters very seriously at K U the Jayhawks three and 18 over Miles is two seasons at the helm. That
LSU Mishandled Women’s Complaints Against Les Miles, Players
"We've had quite an opera quite an afternoon Talking about the situation with with less miles. And i do I think before we get to our next guest. It might not be a bad idea to to go over some of this and we had Kenny jacoby on earlier he is the reporter who broke most of the this with his Fellow colleagues at at usa today and it's a confusing story. We'll try to piece it together with you as simply as possible too long reports over almost one hundred and fifty pages so we ask kenny. How involved where the board of supervisors that's the board of trustees and lsu they signed off on Less less miles is You know private written reprimand for these allegations against the students And and that's what a lot of the students. I've been speaking today to as you know. These people have known about these issues for a long time and nothing has been done about it until now in until it appeared in a national newspaper. What exactly we asked kenny worthy accusations against less miles less miles was accused of sexually harassing At least two if not three or more Student workers who worked in the athletic department He essentially wanted a role in personally interviewing them and selecting who would be picked and any what we learned today is he had a preference toward blonde Women with large breasts Who were you know particularly attractive. He he wanted this. As a way of sort of selling it to potential recruits selling the school As far as the sexual harassment. What we what we learned is that he you know when he hired these Young women he sometimes offered them To help their careers later later. Down the line after they graduated and then kind of turn that into a more personal relationship with them and and then ultimately one of the women said he kissed her alone when he was driving her in his car One of the other students that that was mentioned in this report today said that she had a very traumatic experience when she was alone in a room with him and alleged some sort of unwanted touching and and Decide such a profound impact on her that she basically up and left. The big headline of the day involves joel He is athletic director. Who wanted to fire miles. But ultimately he did not the athletic director who found his conduct so disturbing Back in two thousand thirteen that he said he thought they could fire him over with 'cause but instead they essentially swept the thing under the rug didn't tell the public about it Gave him a private letter of reprimand and made them attend counseling by then kept them around for another three years until he started losing games. So if that doesn't tell you who really you know has the power and the influence at that university It's hard to say what does and finally we ask kenny. How widespread were the problems these problems. Lsu were pervasive and not just limited to members of the football team or or athletic department. There was a neglect For for providing the proper and appropriate resources to be able to handle sexual assault and domestic violence complaints appropriately There is severe understaffing But when they did even you know process complaints often they would result in basically slaps on the wrist. You know students who'd been found responsible for rape Being allowed to stay on campus under probation so that that was earlier there reporter. We just got through talking to Kanye jacoby is is out with a new story with his team and he telegraphed this when we talked to him but the the new story involves students at lsu there they seem to be about the only folks outrage columnists or calling for miles to be fired at kansas. I mean that's not gonna matter so he's only he's only won three games there. I'd calling for the athletic director to be fired. They're both of them probably will go. I don't think they can be able to withstand the heat but according to a kenny latest in usa today the students on the lsu campus are very unhappy so far the school is announced to administrators. Will face suspensions for their failure to report but students are now saying that that is not enough The co founder of the student group tigers against sexual assault saying there's a myriad of people who need to be disciplined. You can't recognize that you've failed. And then keep everything the same and keep the status quo Lsu has launched it lsu launched this investigation. Not because of something they they felt needed to be rectified. They launched it after the reporting by usa today and in the world and forty eight page investigative report revealed today they pretty much acknowledged that

We also asked k jacoby about joe aleve a wanting to fire less miles after the allegations but did not why. The athletic director found his conduct. So disturbing Back in two thousand thirteen that he said he thought they could fire him over with 'cause but instead they essentially swept under the rug didn't tell the public about it Gave him a private letter of reprimand and and made them attend counseling but then kept them around for another three years until he started losing games. "You can get a little closer this week. I'm on just because i've had my first shot so you have. I'll still be isolating. But you can get within shouting distance. Or i can the power old the power latest than they say. You're not supposed to speak ill of the dead. The deceased the recently passed so At this point in the broadcast. I think i should say this because it because i mean it it's really. It's not a obligation. It's really. It has as henry kissinger once said to richard nixon in another context. It has the added advantage of being true. We've heard a lot about why rush limbaugh became So successful so influential in his last thirty years around. I think one writer. I'm forgetting who it is. That i read. Put his finger I'd be guessing. Put his finger on this because he is he was he was a wordsmith and he did you know We all know what he did but why was he so successful and why were so many people both well n- not as many in his lane politically but certainly a lot in the other lane politically so unable to duplicate his success I present this theory. It's because he was good at radio he had he'd been in radio for a while before you opened the app about politics and so he learned those ineffable little things you know a lot of folks think that will radio you sit down and you talk you find somebody who likes to talk and you send him down in front of a microphone bone there you go drive away. A little thing called air. america proved. That wasn't really true. That was the attempt to duplicate conservative. Talk radio success which it didn't and that was the first time i thought well you know it would help to bring in people who actually know about radio. 'cause it's a thing it is it's a craft that's about all it is but it's a craft and You know when you when you want somebody to build your book. Ace a craftsman would be real handy or a chimney or.

Today with Reese Davis to cover a variety of topics as coach owes LSU issue tigers. Get ready for Clemson. Here is that discussion. Between Reese Davis and coach Oh look. I'm no football coach. I don't grade tape the way you do. Please tell me. There were no minuses in the evaluation of Joe Boroughs Game Against Oklahoma. Were there any you know I would give them a minus but you actually master the game. It wasn't in his best game he missed two deaths and so he was disappointed. How that's that's what makes him? Great what does it mean into you. I mean you've talked to all season long. Great State of Louisiana and the entire state behind Lsu to be able to play for the national championship after this landmark season season to be able to pursue that in New Orleans significance to you lavishes about the team and this team is very hard as I'll go to the beginning of the year although we never talked about Ah Championship with being your great state of Louisiana. We fought very hard every game to win every game which we did to be able to play the national championship. There's going to be so much outstanding Louisiana I'll players of everybody that the portfolio coach. You've been around the game a long time. You've been around around. Great individual players coached with great teams. A lot of people are looking at this team as you get ready for one more but going into it. Is this the best team. I'm that you've seen LSU. Is this the best team that you've seen whether you've been on it or coached against it going going into it is the best so far. Obviously we have have to win this game to even think about that Clemson. She was going to be a very big hurdle. But there's the most perfect office I haven't been around. I've never never seen anything like it. Joe Boroughs the best football player. I've ever been any team. We have some heisman winner. But I think this guy along with the system that Stevens Big Joe Berry's put in As the best offense I've ever seen coach last talk has been about you. Officer how prolific desk side of the ball but defensively you guys Kanta struggled early in the season either but in the latter part you. You've come on very strong. Comey what has changed. Defensively with the Tigers. Coach did a great job. After all miss game of channel we challenge our best players have to play their best kilobytes. Chazal had his best game last week. We'll put more pressure on uh-huh quarterback our best players playing their best. The difference right. Now's the well. This has been playing coach. You gotTA gotTA fill in America. We talked a little bit after the Home Depot Awards about this. How did you find Joe Brady? And this offense and change the offense. How did you find him in recruit him coach? You know. We have a great relationship with Gregg bands on out staff. Because Michael Sean Payton. We asked them to come on over and clinic us us on a seven in the red zone and we've looked at some appeals and they said we're going to bring a young guy that does appeals to Penn State and was Joe Brady and I was over with the personnel. We had two different presentations going on that day. I just said they love Joe Brady his presentation. We asked him to come back. Tremendous young man. We had a chance to hire passing game coordinator. We believed in the saints. We believe that. Sean Payton Mickey loomis P Carmichael. I Michael they said this guy is an upcoming star. One of my friends. I believe in Kevin. Rogers coached him at William and Mary all the he checked all the boxes and he has been and phenomenal ever since he's gotten here. It's been fun to watch him. You mentioned Clemson coach. Just thought or two about that. Matchup and Brent Venables going up against that prolific offense in Davos Sweeney team. That hasn't lost in a couple of years. They're gonNA come in there and accept that challenge. I'm sure very very With with a lot of confidence themselves on question time travel hasn't lost game. I was really impressed. The Way He took the game and his hands against Ohio Sleet Eight. Tenths of great player. That big receivers. I have a lot of spectral. Brent Venables He's GonNa have some blitzes we're GONNA have to pick him up. It's going to be a test as has the whole game but you know what the national championship best against best. You'RE GONNA get a chance to watch some football today. What's on the menu at Ozran household? Today what are we got. Got Koko Mom Special Gumbo but it was on sense. We better win the game now now. You're just trying to make me jealous. Adulation Donna on. A great season before senior compete in the National Championship. GAME COMING UP A couple of weeks bill. "Pennzoil performance. Line are Mike. into the weekend matchups wild card weekend and of course we gotta start off with the Patriots. They're the biggest headliner they're the team. That is most polarizing. Do you feel that. It's different this time around with the Patriots. Because I've certainly we try to write them off way earlier than what we should but this year or is it different in your eyes. Do they have what it takes to not only get past the titans but get past the Gauntlet in the AFC to get back to a super bowl. We're GONNA take it one week at time and I think if we were sitting here this time of year ago we were talking about well. Can they beat the chargers. Let's say so You know we're still talking about Tom. Brady we're still talking about bill. Bell checks so let's not write them off. You know quite yet here they are still still a smart talented and disciplined team. That's still when the AFC east you know we take for granted but you know they are a division winner this year. They still have a really strong defense this year and I think in particular the two players we gotta keep an eye on. One is a Landon Roberts because if you really say them carefully Anthony. They were very productive out of a to back running attack when they las James Devlin. They're very talented full-back. A landed Roberts converted from linebacker done a nice job for them. So that's one guy to keep. Can I on if they get into this to back runs. I think they really have a chance to control the game. which is not only can keep the ball and control control? Line of scrimmage with him and their and their offense lying but the other thing it does keeps. Aj Brown Derrick Henry off the field. So that's one the other one is ankle Harry and kill Harry was the first round pick. He he started off the year. I are he really reminded me coming out of Anquan Boldin Anthony. He can make plays and contest catches so against a very physical Tennessee Secondary. Sorry I let's see if he can make a plea to because I promise you Mike Variables can do what pride flurries and the Dolphins did from Waco. They're double element. They're gonNA take him out of the game so somebody's going to have to step up on the outside so could be dorset but in my mind the one guy that could really make place for them is going to be ankle. Harry so look for Ankle Harry. Let's see if they go to that to back running package early in the game and to me. Those are some of the initial keys to the game. All right. So that's my Tanenbaum. Who just dipped his toe in the water? A little bit and says you know what I'm not. I'm not gonNA go swimming today. I'M GONNA go right back to the beach on semi chair. Everything's GonNa be good. I'm going to not only might own the water. I'm GonNa dive in and you know what Mike there might be that shark that Patriots Shark. That's out there for me. It's GonNa eat me whole but I I'm willing to say that the Patriots. I'm not saying the dynasties over but this patriots offense is different. It's different. They might get past the titans not a great match for them as Bobby Carpenter told us before and you just broke down but when I watched this team last last week wasn't a one week aberration. We have seen this often struggle now for months. The last time I thought the offense the for the Patriots agents looked really good was all the way back probably week two against the dolphins or or or week three the jets and the Dolphin game they end and they had Antonio Brown. I think teams as you noted Can Double Julian Edelman. WHO's banged up? He's got a shoulder injury in knee-injury and there's really nobody else there that that can beat them. Now maybe to your point Mike Carey will have a big postseason and he'll make me and others look stupid but I don't think that running game as consistent as it has been brady is is not clearly clicking with his receivers not named Julia Doman and for as good as that defense and special teams are and they have one games for that. A lot of games for the Patriots treats this year. I don't think they can do it against the best of the best in the AFC the loss of the chiefs this year. They lost the Texans this year and the number one team in the AFC Z.. They lost two in Baltimore so I'm willing to do it. Maybe maybe I'll look like a fool when it's all done. Mike won't be the first time but I don't think the Patriots are going to win multiple games this year with that offense well and again you know the other side of the ball is their defense is really good now. They didn't play as well L.. A. Late but they're still a lot to be said about that Patriot defense now again. I think it's a tougher match that they're playing Tennessee. I think from a New England perspective. They bashed up better against Buffalo. But that's just the way it works so I think you know barring something unforeseen with the weather I think this game's in the low twenties you you know a twenty four twenty one. Sort of game I think Tennessee though like you said they they match up well a and Ryan tannehill could also make plays with his feet so it should be Uh Great Environment and we could be potentially again. Potentially we could be looking at the last. Tom Brady game played in Foxborough. But I would be amazing but I. I do think there's enough smoke smoke in the air there. Were you consider there to be a flyer. That's Mike Tannenbaum former. NFL General Manager. Anthony Anthony Salter the Dan Le Batard show filling in for the guy's today. Dan Le Batard show with Stugatz brought to you by Shell. V POWER NITRO plus premium gasoline engineered with four levels of defense against gunk where corrosion and friction are Mike. which what about that? Tennessee New England matchup. We discussed the Minnesota New Orleans matchup briefly the one that I feel like we haven't touched at all outside of the Buffalo Houston. Game is the Seattle Philadelphia Alfie match up. Now that's the the late Sunday night game. I am not a Sunday night game. Excuse me Sunday afternoon. Four Forty PM eastern time is the kickoff in Philly. These are two severely verily banged up teams. You got the eagles decimated offensively seahawks similar big time injuries at running back. Although they did bring back marshawn Lynch who played what ten fifteen snaps a heard a week ago in that loss to the forty niners. They got Russell Wilson yet. No Not Wayne Brown. They're left tackle when you look at Seattle going to Philly. Is there a certain matchup or certain mismatch that you like about that one on Sunday the afternoon. Yeah Yeah you philly look how resilient. They've been to to go when the Games he did it and most notably to me. Anthony was not having Zach Ertz Erz against the giants. The they've just been absolutely decimated at the skill players to Sean Jackson L.. Sean Jeffrey again. Not Having Erz Jordan Howard. Just on and on and on while was Darren sproles it just. It's amazing that they lose Barrett Brooks. WHO's a really good guard I I think this game's could be won or lost up front and You know. JV CLOUDY IS GONNA have to step up for the SEAHAWKS and Kinsey make some place. That's what what they brought. I'm in for his. You know this type of road playoff game I think if Philadelphia could defy Pass protect Carson Wentz. They'll have a good chance because other players have stopped opt for them Most guys like Greg Robinson who two years ago was at University of Houston has a quarterback so it's You gotTa Give Phillies so much credit for their resiliency. Now with that said Seattle is as mentally tough as anybody and they signed marshawn Lynch and Robert Term Turban on short notice and it would also up there for him to get Bistro to get the game winning touchdown the other day and then they had the unfortunately The delay a game and then he took him off the field but Seattle Adult GonNa have to score points because my opinion The Way Philadelphia despite losing all those weapons has been affected offense. I think Philly will be a move on Seattle title. He and outside of the Brandon Brooks injury. The Eagles have dealt with the injuries now for the past month and they want to big ones including the game against the cowboys in week. Sixteen and of course the game that got him in which was last week against the Chinese. Excuse me as my voice goes out. That's Mike Tannenbaum result filling in for Dan Literature.
