"This guy Tim Ryan is bad news He is a bad dude He pretends to be a moderate He's a radical leftist He's voted with the Democrat leadership a 100% of the time and he hates Trump He needs to be defeated He must be defeated And so when I heard Vance sang some of these things I thought to myself you better pull this Republican Party in Ohio together You better not be so damn cocky Because you really didn't win this race Donald Trump won the race for you That's the fact That's how you came from third and fourth down with a relatively sizable victory But you got 32% of the vote This guy Ryan got 70% of the Democrat party vote 70% Fans got 32% of the vote He got a plurality The other guy got a super majority Vance is going to need every Republican certainly every conservative he can get And if he's going to keep doing a victory lap not because he won and taking on this guy Ryan but we showed them in the Republican primary He's going to have a tough time

"Green flag is in the air. Talladega Superspeedway triple overtime here at Talladega. The gloves are off right now. It's time to get this thing done. It's all no one breaks a leading on the end of the backstretch. Bottom, bottom, bottom, coming to the treasure here. And no it breaks it across the line and he will score the win. Thank you guys. Great job. Yes. How good is that? Jason Anderson on the return to Massachusetts. Anderson wins at Foxborough. Faulkner and Lawrence. This was meant to be the season long head to head clash. Fortnite gets the main event win. Lawrence gets the championship. We're on board then which one miss Suzuki looking back to Jack Miller who's going to power that the catty on bar here in quarter mousey is a game of chess on the breaks down at the first goal. Miller Miller on the front end Lucifer from trying to find a way through up the inside. But here comes Fabio cuero it has been picture perfect in Portugal for the reigning world champion. He's the winner of the tissot Grand Prix of Portugal in utterly dominant fashion. Moto two world championship is go here and report him out. He's going. It's chaos. That was a horrible sight all riders conscious and the race red flag it's take two. Smoking Joe Roberts, who wins a first American race in the intimate world championships, it's 1990. Opportunity knocked and Joe Roberts answered the call. 29 times this race has been decided by Alaska. Kyle Larson big push. Here comes the big energy. One back, quarterback. Gonna have to block. Does it go to the outside? Gonna have to. Here he goes. Steaming to the line. Ross Chastain were win. The Geico 500. Ross just kept it straight. I told you it's like you just held it straight. He killed sailing through. Come on, here, need some. Crazy weekend of motor sports. Welcome in everyone. Marty Snyder to NASCAR America motor mouse with the dad of mister tickles the cat. And the husband of misses North Carolina, AJ Alma nigger. All those tough has said there's true. That is true. And that's literally how it happens at intros. I get fans yelling at me. Hey, mister tickle's dad, or mister North Carolina. So it works either way. Does mister tickles have more Twitter followers than you? Not as many, but I think his love, they love him more than they love me. Okay, very good, all right. We also welcome in from the Stanford Connecticut studios Parker Kligerman now. What's good at home base today, Parker? Forgot one thing for AJ. That was that he was my best sim racing friend growing up and sim racing coach. Also lost many races to me when I was just, you know, younger than 16 years old. So he was like his accolades are just piling up, Parker, mister tickles, dad. Husband. You'll be shocked to know this, Marty. He never stopped talking when he was 12 years old either. Parker. Come on. And now we get paid by the word. So it works out great. I was always playing. That is awesome. We do have a television program today, by the way, actually, Eric Jones will be here shortly to join us. You saw him on the last lap there at Talladega also our big man on the middle Brad Dougherty will be here as well. Of course we want to hear from you guys at home. A four four NASCAR NBC will get to your calls here in just a little bit. So AJ on Monday show, we put out the social media question. Who was the biggest heartbreak from Talladega? I'll ask it another way. Who lost their best shot at Talladega to get a win, put themselves in the playoffs because I know a lot of teams come in there saying, hey, this is my best shot between now and Daytona in the end of the regular season. Yeah, I mean, I think you initially immediately go to Eric Jones, 'cause he was leading off a turn Ford and you think that that for sure is the guy that probably had the best shot, but they've been running really strong all year, that GMS petty team. So I think they're gonna have more shots. I would have to say Bubba Wallace, because he was running up front. Now they're still Daytona, but he's really good at super speedway races. He ran up front, most of that race got shuffled on the back of the pack, then obviously got wrecked there down the front straightaway. So he had a great shot and unfortunately didn't get a finish to show that. Parker, what do you think? I think Ricky Stenhouse junior, that 47 JTG. I mean, I think when you look at that 47 car and him at a super speedway, I put him in my fantasy lineup for that exact thought process. Here's a guy who runs great super speedways, has a chance to out there and sort of turn their season around. It's been a very tough start to the season for them. I felt like that was a car to me that really this was a make or break race. I look at Justin Haley in that 31 car being a good at super speedway racer. He is. He was in position up there. I felt like this is a chance for him to really sort of do something great for that calling racing team. So those are a couple that just stick out to me because.

"What's going on everybody? Rowdy dragon back again with this week's final app weekly fantasy update. Talladega Superspeedway blah. How about that for a race? Looks like the price of a watermelon is gonna go up. If Chastain continues his run. All right guys, let's see who did well with this week's race on the stage picks. We had a sweep on the two stages for the week. It looks like stage one and two Corey Randall Stevens. Good job over there. And the winner ray dog beat you out Corey by 7 points or so with a total of 221 points, 52 stage points pretty good stage points for Talladega. I finished in the dismal spot of 134th, somehow sliding me down one position in the league to 24th. Toby Christie finished in the 187th spot, also not a good day for Toby. Sliding further down to the 90th spot in the overall standings on the league. And where is Jimmy? Carrie Murphy, beating both of us out once again, finishing in the 72nd spot, moving up into the 116th spot, closing in on Toby. I think we have about 54 points between you two now. All right, taking a look at last week's picks. We had the 6th, the ten and the 47, let's take a look and see how they did. So in the 6 car. Brad Keselowski finished with the 23rd most points on the day, all I can say is he was not the worst car out there. Brad picked up 14 points on the day and that was it. No stage points. Looking at the ten car arc amarilla he finished in the 12th in the standings for the fantasy points, bringing home 24 position points, four stage points on the stages, not the worst pick on the day. And the 47 car Ricky Stenhouse. He had his issues as well, coming home in the 29th place, bringing in 7 position points and one stage point on the day. Ricky was a bust at Talladega. I garaged him. Okay, so let's take a look at this week's featured picks. I've got three guys. We're gonna take a look at starting with the 5 car Kyle Larson. He's got 13 races at this track one win currently, 7 top 5s, ten top tens, and that's 7 top 5s and 13 races. That's a 50% chance at a top 5 with Kyle Larson this weekend. Those Hendrick guys are running too good to ignore them right now so he is definitely on the top of my list of guys to watch. Looking at his stage points, Kyle Larson picked up three stage wins, two of them came last May in 14 races here, Kyle's picked up stage points in ten stages. All right, I hate to pick on that low hanging fruit, but here we're looking at another Hendrick driver. Remember last year they finished here at Dover, one, two, three, four, chase Elliott is my next guy. He's got 11 races here at this track. He's also got one win here. And he too has 8 top 5s within that 11 race span. So you're looking at, again, another 50 percenter on a top 5. And looking at Chase's stage point picture, he's got 18 stages run here. Has not picked up any stage wins. But out of the 18 tries he's gained stage points in 12 tries. Not taking a look at their top 5s. Let's compare Kyle Larson and chase Elliott's top 5s to a guy like Kurt Busch, Kurt Busch has 9 top 5 set this track in 42 races. All right, so that puts it in a little bit of perspective for you there. And one more guy to look at for your lineup for this weekend, the Toyota campus starting to pull it together, Martin Truex Junior did have a good run at Talladega. He came home with the second most position points on the day. So it looks like Truex is starting to figure things out. He's got 31 races at Dover three of them are wins. One of those wins coming just last May right here at the monster mile. Truex has an 11.7 Finnish average at the track after those 31 races, and he's led quite a few laps at 996. Looking at his stage point totals out of 18 tries, he's only missed out on stage points 5 times, and has four stage wins to his credit. Now I would be keeping a close eye on those Toyotas during the practice session on Saturday. Just to see if they have things figured out before committing them to your team. Okay, now it's breaks ten on the season, I think it is a good time to take a look at the current top ten list for the final app weekly fantasy. Starting in tenth working our way up to first because that's how we do things here at the final lap weekly. Tenth place goes to no speed limit. Love the name. Number 9 top shelf racing. Also a good name. Number 8, this week's winner ray dog. And in 7th bonehead four. 6th place. Elliot bandwagon. Still making some noise up there. 5th place beer guy 27 hanging on to that top ten spot. In fourth, running on empty 2022, dugong sitting in the third spot, Louisville max in second and still in the top spot four bald tires, and he's starting to break away. In fact, the top two guys are starting to break away a little bit from the pack. Don't let them get away guys. Well, that's all I got for you this week. Hopefully the monster mile doesn't bite you. And these pics can help you out a little bit. All right, I appreciate you hanging around and listening to the final epi weekly fantasy segment of the show. I am rowdy dragon. I will check back in with you again. Next week. All right, there you have. Rowdy dragon and his fantasy NASCAR segment for Dover coming up this weekend. I'm so, if I am just would have put something in for Daytona, I'd be like, top ten. Could you imagine? I mean, you would be right there, man. You'd be right there. I don't understand what was just a major brain problem there during day two. Yeah. I mean, it happens. It happens with all of us. I would be so good in the standings. But you're not. I'm out. It's okay, Carrie. It's okay. All right, of course, thank you once again to adjust an Allgaier for joining us on the program.

"Saturday, one 30 p.m. eastern on FS1. Put that in your calendar. Yeah. And so for his win at Dover last year, he did lead 98 laps. So there have been three races, three wins in his career where he has led over more. He's led more than 16 laps in them. Chicago is first Wayne led 88, Fontana, he led one ten and Dover last year he led 98. All hacks, super just backs into every one of them. So, so hacky. Drivers, door dashing at Dover. I mean, that's good, I like it. That's good. See how I incorporate it's not too much. Usually it is, but you actually incorporated the sponsor, they'll be happy. I'm happy. Right. Everyone's happy. Thought I'd work it in there. Way to go. Thank you. So we got Brad Keselowski. Who is pretty much out to lunch this year, but he's got to win at this track 5 top 5s, ten top tens poll, average finish of 12.7. Yeah, man, he needs a win too because those playoff hopes are on life support at this point. Well, and they were thinking, you know, Talladega was it, and that came and went. Yeah, I was surprised they weren't stronger than they were. So I don't know what they're going to do there. They're really, I mean, it might just be having to wait till next year at this point, but we'll see. Kyle Larson, he's got a win at this racetrack, 7 top 5s, ten top tens and a poll average finish carry series best. Wow. 7th. Chase Elliott's got to win a top 5 as a top tens, a poll average finish of 10.5. And of course, we've got Denny Hamlin. He has a win at this racetrack 6 top 5s, 14 top tens, four polls, an average finish of, oh, this doesn't look that good. 16.29. That's 11th best. Got Kurt Busch has a win 9 top 5s, 12 top tens average finish of 17 .091. Interesting, interesting, interesting. And how about Kyle Busch, his brother, he's sitting there with three wins of this racetrack, the monster mile, 13 top 5s, 20 top tens and a poll average finish of 14 .242. And finally, Kevin Harvick has three wins at the monster mile. Ten top 5s 22 top tens poll average finish of 12.121. It's amazing what happens when you drop Jimmy off these lists because man, he's he had like 20,000 wins in this racetrack, didn't he? Totally, totally. Hey, coming up next, we just gave you a kind of a rundown of what drivers are doing well, but the official word doesn't happen until roddy dragon says so and his fantasy NASCAR segment is coming up.

"Larson will drive that 88 car for a total of 5 races between them. Chase Elliott will get started at Darlington. Where was Byron running? I don't remember where Byron's running at. I don't see you run the news website. Yeah. So Byron, Byron rule slide behind the wheel of Texas, Larsen will run the car walkington Glenn in August, and then Darlington again in September. So there's the 5 races for the 88 car with these guys, and then of course people are like, what about Alex Bowman? He's never included these kind of things. Bowman tweeted, don't worry. Mine's coming. So apparently there's more races to be announced for Alex Bowman at some point too. I'm sure it's a different sponsorship, probably ally. But we'll have to see how that goes. So well, he needs to back into a win. So, right? He's got a back into like 7 more of them. Goodness. Might as well add some Xfinity back ends. Yeah. So here's another interesting story, Carrie. I don't know if you even saw it, but do you remember the bush beer accelerate her program? Yes. Okay, how they were going to take money and sponsor all these different women and motor sports that were over the age of 21 over the next three seasons and stuff like that. Yep. Okay. Well, one of them, one of the females in this program have already admitted that they're no longer in the program. Just like that. Just like that. So Tony bride and her in a Q&A on Reddit and asked me anything, confirmed that she's no longer part of the program and she had some pretty salty comments about the program. Oh. Yeah, so she said, quote, I'm not part of the bush. I'm not part of bush's program anymore. Right now there's a huge narrative large corporations are trying to say they support women in sports, so they make big announcements that they're supporting. She then continued by saying, quote, it's important that people know if a company isn't on my car or my suit or my helmet, they aren't my sponsor. I'm focusing on my sponsors that are actually being about it and putting my car on the track and really supporting women in sports. Man, seems kind of interesting, but the program was announced with amber Balkan, Brittany zamora, Jennifer Joe Cobb, Melissa fyfield, Natalie decker, Stephanie moir and of course Brian are as well. So it seems like things are kind of a little rocky there in the accelerator program. It seems so absolutely. Wow. Yeah. Let's get into Dover motor speedway. They change the name on me. Compared to last year, at least anyway. So we got Dover motor speedway. It's just like Bristol only double the size. It's called the monster mile, which is self cleaning, concrete, high bank oval, straightaways are line by walls, so when a wreck happens, a la Joey Logano in the 20 car, there is little room for avoidance and you go tumbling all over the place. Also, all the way down. The coolest trophy in NASCAR. There, I said it. Oh, I saw somebody do a thing on Twitter. Let me find it and send it to you. Uh oh. But if you're listening to this show, look for it on Twitter. It's if miles the monster skipped leg day. Okay? I can already envision that. That's funny. Oh, here it is. I found it. It was NASCAR chasm, of course. Oh, there you go. Let me send this on to you. But anyway, I want a trophy like that. I love miles the monster, I think he's cool. Yeah, now he is. He really is, I mean, it's one of those trophies that it's on the verge. It's right on the edge where if it went a little more cartoony with it, it would be over the top and just stupid, but it's the perfect level of it. It's right there. It's iconic and I'm glad they've kept the miles the monster thing going forward. And they didn't make it out of oak or anything, which would make no kidding. Miles the oak monster. I just saw the picture of miles missing leg take. That's pretty awesome. That is so cool. Oh man. Okay, so what do we got going on here? Race number 11. It almost makes it look like a member of The Incredibles or something. The dad on The Incredibles. Yes. Exactly. That's how they were. Like, you can just push them over by blowing a little bit. Yeah. Race number 11 of 36 and a one mile oval banking, pretty huge, 24°. Are we actually equidistant on this one? I think we are. This one we are, yes. This one's different than. 1076 feet is the total distance of the front and back stretches each. So that's pretty cool. Race is 400 laps for 400 miles. Stage one, one 20. Stage two, one 30, final stage one 5th. There it is. So that's good. Do you remember back in the day here when they had 500 mile races this track? Don't remind me. In the mid 90s and earlier, these things were grueling, man. So I know 400 mile still seems to be willing to drivers these days, but imagine when those are 500 miles. I can't imagine any race 500 miles. Even the Daytona 500? Yes, too long. Well, we got Coke 600 coming, so you better get ready. Oh, that's right. And we love Coke. Coca-Cola. We do. Coca-Cola's the best. Love it. Last year's winner was Alex Bowman. He, of course, backed into a win, what a hack. What a hack, seriously, no kidding. At this point, he will never have a legitimate win. Well, and it's funny to me because even that one he was told that he backed into the wind, but let me look it up while you finish up what you're saying there. I think he actually led like a hundred laps in that race. The weekend double header back in 2020 was won by Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick. You can check out all the giant Bristol like Dover action Sunday, 3 p.m. eastern on FS1 and the Xfinity series is also running this weekend. Saturday, one 30 p.m. eastern on FS1. Put that in your calendar. Yeah. And so for his win at Dover last year, he did lead 98 laps. So there have been three races,.

"Was one of those cars I think it was like, where did he come from? We haven't heard from him all day. Yeah, I mean, he started on the front row and that was a while. He told me he hoped the Toyota could get lined up and make dominate the race. Didn't we go? He told me. Well, he did. It didn't happen. What are you doing? You're adding just adding credibility to the show like crazy. Well, we've got time, man. We've got time to Catherine those things now. So it's nice. It's kind of a nice loose situation here. We can talk about it. But yeah, no, he said the key to the race was getting all those Toyotas lined up because there's not many of them compared to the other manufacturers, obviously. So they had to get all 6 of them or whatever lined up. And they weren't really able to get that done. All day long. They just weren't able to always find each other. So the fact that he finished 5th, I feel pretty good for him because one he didn't wreck the car. Two, he brought it back in the 5th and three, you know? He moves on to a track at Dover next week, where he's pretty good. A little bit, a little bit, yeah. Kyle Larson led 32 laps in this race, first top 5 on a speedway. That's a weird stat. Yeah, it's really weird because if you look back to last year's race, he was wiped out early in this thing. And the day was pretty much toast. This time around, he's the only car that spent every lap inside the top 15. All 188 laps, how Larson at number 15 car was inside the top 15 of the race. Never once was he shuffled out of line where he had to fall back outside the top 20. So incredible job by him and I know a lot of people criticize him for that move on the last lap trying to get out there and make something happen and resulted in the last lap crash with Bubba Wallace Kurt Busch and them, but it's hard, man. At the end of the day, he's kind of racist. You have to do something. Especially when you see you're not winning the race. If you're going into the final stretch here and you're like, well man, I'm second, I gotta do something. He pulled out from Eric Jones, tried to make something happen. At the end of the day, he didn't and people crash, but hey, he gave it a shot, he tried. And tried to make something happen. But a fourth place finished. I mean, like you said, first top 5 on a super speed waveform. I'm sure in the closing laps, that kind of factors into it too. He's never been in that position before. What do I do? I'm sure he was. Yeah, I'm sure he was like, well, okay. So a lot of that goes into it too, but I feel like the fourth place finish has to feel like a win for him as well. A lot of guys feeling like they had wins here that didn't win the race, but I think he had to feel pretty good about it too. Mister, I don't know, ask Joe Gibbs, Kyle Busch at number three, who was like 8th going into the final lap there. Yeah, and he's lucky to even be there because he had the contact with Christopher Bell coming off pit road. That was that. That was very strange. So there were three Y with Noah Gregson leaving pit road on the final pit stop of the day. Yeah. Makes contact with his teammates. Teammate goes around and Kyle Busch continues on, but I thought for sure he would have lost some momentum and just had some issues based on that. Maybe even some damage, but he got lucky and was able to contend for the potential win here. I don't know where he came from in those closing laps, but he was right where he needed to be and got a solid podium finish there. Now Austin Dillon at number two, yet again here in the top ten top 5, but he does well at these kinds of races. In fact, he's won these kinds of races. Yeah, he has. And for the three car, this was their second, second place finish of the weekend because Jeffrey Earnhardt finished second in the Xfinity race, but I don't know what it was about this race. Yeah, I didn't have him pegged, even though he's won Daytona 500s and stuff before. I've just, I don't ever have him pegged for that, but they've been very good this season. Had the third place finish in Martinsville second place at Auto Club speedway. Now you have a second place finish at Talladega. That's three totally different racetracks. This three team is coming to life pretty good and on a day where his teammate Tyler Reddick had a really bad day with engine issues, the three cars still kind of carried the flag and showed the RCR is still very, very strong. So maybe I need to start kind of expecting more out of Austin Dillon each week because for whatever reason I don't go into a race weekend thinking Austin Dillon's one of the guys I should be picking commonly I've gone with Tyler Redick is a guy, but maybe I need to really start looking at Austin Dillon. Let's head to victory lane now where watermelons were flying everywhere. Drivers popping up out of the roof and all kinds of stuff. Ross Chastain, of course, has got to be the only guy that fits that Bill. Second wind of the season and his career after deleting just one lap of the race, the final app. Watermelon was smashed. Yes, he popped out of the roof hatch. Let's hear from Ross. Does not seem real at all. I keep waiting to wake up from this dream. And it realized it's all not what I thought of what I think I'm living. But I've got great groups of people from track house on the competition and the business side to the business side was my family. People in Charlotte and around mooresville that keep reminding me and keep showing me that this is real and we talked about it. I talked about it earlier. You were sitting right here and this spot, like I'm right where I want to be and I have the people around me. So they keep me remembering and they keep reminding me. And they keep pushing me to make this the best we can make it. We're not resting on any of this stuff. And by Justin said, I might not be quite as sharp in the morning to get to work on Dover, but I'll get to work on it at some point tomorrow. Carrie, what? This car was the exact car he wanted coda. Wow. Two different kinds of race tracks and stuff. That's right. They took this car to a road course, you know, three, four, maybe 5 weeks ago. Won the race there. Take it back to the shop, strip it down, get it back together, and it's winning Talladega just like a month later. Wow, that tells you something about the next gens. It does. This thing is so versatile. You can literally take this thing anywhere, it appears. I don't know if that will ring true for the entire duration of this car being a thing. But the early portion of things, if you told people going into it, you could go from coda, winning that race and take that race winning car at coda. To win the race at Talladega, I think a lot of people were like, yeah, okay. How about track house racing though? It even had Dale junior kind of wondering, um, maybe I should go cup. Dude, you know? They have made some waves really fast. Now obviously they've got pit bull. They've got a lot of marketing partners now they're jumping on, left and right. But at the end of the day, you gotta win. Exactly. And if you looked at what they did last year in their first year, they came out swinging, and it was like, holy crap, this team, you know, a lot of people thought it was gonna be a joke, but when they came in, they had speed immediately with Daniel Suarez, and I was like, okay, well they're on the verge here. Now they've got Chastain. They bought the Chip Ganassi racing operation, got both charters and all that stuff. And they have really, you thought they came out swinging last year, they have come out guns blazing this season and my goodness. Ross Chastain has gained just incredible amounts of confidence. I don't know what it is. I don't know what he's been told by Justin marks, but he looks totally different this season. I like Justin marks. It was either a tweet or Facebook from victory lane on Sunday to the carpool lane with the kids on Monday. It was pretty funny. Yeah, no, and that's the cool thing that I like about track house as well. So even though they've got like Pitbull, the worldwide superstar and stuff, it just feels like a fun family atmosphere still. With just the marks and everybody that's involved there. Heck, I'll be out at the local store down here. Harris teeter will be getting groceries or something. You'll see track house employees walking through with their track house shirts on and it just feels like a nice family thing. I just feel like they are all normal people..

The goofy mayor of Los Angeles said I hold my breath. That looked like Stacey Abrams is holding her breath to me. She smiling, grinning ear to ear. There she is with her hands folded. In her lap on the floor, right there, she's not within, she doesn't social distancing. She's super spreading to all these poor children who are all gonna die of COVID. Oh no. They're frauds. They're a bunch of frauds. So you must ignore the noise.

Ken Fish Has a Gift From God: He Prays for People and Stuff Happens

"You're traveling all kinds of places and you pray for people and stuff happens. There are a lot of people that don't believe in the miraculous, and I would think if they would hang out with you, that would go away very quickly because you have a gift from God where you pray for people and stuff happens. And I grew up in a world where that never happened. And I think the people need to know God is alive, and it doesn't mean he's going to answer our prayers just because we want him to, but he does. And he can, and we need to know that. So you where have you been recently and what's been happening? You mentioned something about angels and Costa Rica. I love this stuff, so what's cooking? Well, let's start in November. November was a really busy month. I was only home four days, although admittedly, 5 of the missing days were because I went to Texas for Thanksgiving with my wife, my daughter to visit my other daughter. So anyway, but in November, we went and did a meeting in Ohio and two people who were in wheelchairs got out of their wheelchairs in that meeting in Ohio. And the one woman, she was in an electric wheelchair, which I mean, to me that is an indication that it's worse than just standard wheelchair, right? Because with a scanner when you can at least push yourself over along if you need to. But anyway, she got out of her wheelchair and ran around the sanctuary and then when she finished that lap, she fell on her face, not because she fell, but she, as we say, hugely. She fell on her face, bowed down and was weeping and her husband stood there weeping because his wife had gotten out of this

Doug Shares the Story of 'The Candle in the Forest'

"To tell you the story of the candle in the forest, but simple Bailey. The small girl's mother was saying, the onions will be silver and the carrots will be gold. And the potatoes will be ivory, said the small girl and they laugh together. The small girl's mother had a big white bowl in her lap and she was cutting up vegetables. The onions were the hardest because she cried over them. But our tears will be pearls, said the small girl's mother, and they laughed at that and drive their eyes and found the carrots much easier and the potatoes easiest of all. Then the next door neighbor came in and said, what are you doing? We're making a vegetable pie for our Christmas dinner, the small girl's mother said. And the onions are silver and the carrots are gold and the potatoes are ivory said the small girl. I'm sure I do not know what you're talking about, said the next door neighbor, we're going to have turkey for dinner and cranberry and celery. The small girl laughed and clapped her hands. But we're going to have a Christmas pie and the onions will be silver and the carrots gold. You said that once, said the next door neighbor, and I should think you'd know that there weren't anything of the kind. But they are, said the little small girl, all shining eyes and rosy cheeks. Run along darling, said the small girl's mother. And fine poor pussy pour up. He's out in the cold, and you can put her on your red sweater and red cap. So the small girl hopped away like a happy Robin and the next door neighbor said she's old enough to know that onions aren't silver. But they are, said the small girl's mother. And carrots are gold and the potatoes are in the next door neighbor's face was flaming. If you say that again, I'll scream. It sounds silly to me. But it isn't. Really, in the least bit silly, the small girl's mother said, and her eyes were blue and sapphires. As clear as the sea, it is sensible. When people are poor, they have to make the most of little things, and the only we only have expensive things in our pie. But the onions will be silver and the lips of the next door neighbor were folded in a thin line. If you had acted like a sensible creature, I shouldn't have shouldn't have to ask you for the rent. The smaller girl's mother was silent for a moment. And then she said, I'm sorry. It ought to be sensible to make the best of things.

"Hey there, it's Steve Miller. Yes, that is my name, and it's also my Twitter handle. Welcome to my new podcast. On this lap about my personal fitness journey next year or as I like to call it a lap around the sun. Get it? So after a leg injury in 2021 sideline my running plans. I decided to do something different. Train for a 50 mile go on elliptical trainer at high resistance next year. And according to my math, that should take somewhere between 7 and 8 hours to complete. And I'm only given myself one year to get a done by. So every week in the podcast, I'm going to share my ups. My downs, my struggles. But I'm learning about myself as well as what I'm learning from the pros that keeps them going. As well as a whole lot more. So if this sounds like your jam, calling on join me on this lap because there's so much we can collectively do together in a year. And we might as well begin now. So follow this podcast at on this laptop dot com and wherever you get your podcast. Like I said, you can follow me at its Steve Miller on Twitter. Powerful Memories (MM #3912)

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason. We all have people places things that provide powerful memories for us throughout our lives. It could be something so simple as the birth of a child, or it could be visiting a place like the Grand Canyon that you just look at its majesty and are just in awe of what can happen throughout nature. But one of the most powerful memories for me in my life wasn't something I was expecting to be powerful. It was visiting the USS Arizona memorial. The Pearl Harbor memorial, if you will, back about 20 years ago. Hard to believe it's been 80 years today, since we were bombarded by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor and our world changed, we entered World War II, and of course, well, you know the history. I was on vacation Hawaii, going to go to the Pro Bowl, could enjoy the beach and decided just to go to the memorial. And to be honest with you, I could have spent 6 8 hours there. Just watching and reading and learning and just staring into the water above the USS Arizona and hearing the lapping of the water during the lapping of the waves and just looking at that little oil bubbling still from that ship 80 years later. Truly one of the most powerful memories of my life.

"You get outta here. Did you feel he was having a good show today. Regardless just wasn't having a show that ended in a calamity. The way that that did this is going to wreck for for a couple of days. Billy what was the funniest thing from the sports weekend. Skip bayless tweeting that the jaguars could've used him tibo on sunday. Tony do me a favor. I need you to be an enforcer on this place. Because i don't know why chris cody keeps like ruining the content bits refusing to do things all of a sudden because he's so valuable around here something. Can you just make sure that he has a phone or something. So that we can get the visual pay off of him huffing and puffing around that he asked me what do i do like get on the zoom start running what why is why is he such an off. My my research. Here of the laps thing would seem to be that joe. Judge has players run laps in practice when they make mistakes. And so i think because this has become such a theme for the giants that people thought. Joe judge woodson everyone out to the game but it turns out it was a joke. He's also made his coaches run laps in practice of they have a bad practice this guy and they're doomed right. I mean that was the only uninteresting game in the four o'clock rally window. Yeah denver giants. Nobody wants to watch that. Even the games that were uninteresting in the one o'clock window ended up like niners. Lions ended up being interesting. Vikings bengals nearly ended in a draw like there was some interesting games even from the sewage and the one o'clock window. That game was nothing. I had to watch the whole thing with two giants fans. I was like can be pleased. Put on red zone like the chiefs. Browns game is on. I would rather watch that. What are we doing here is terrible. Joe judge challenge to play. He was not allowed to challenge. You should be running and after the game. The ask him clean. I know the rules. I just had to get their attention a timeout. This guy. I love them. We're still doing this with gentlemen and judge and they picked the wrong quarterback. And you're not going to believe this but mike francesa before the season went on bill. Simmons's podcast said joe judge. He's a great coach. Ownership is behind him and he he's going to. He's going to be a great. Nfl coach is really got the giants going in the right direction. Of course francesa believes in that style. What part of that is unbelievable. This is going to be the urban meyer style. The to right this is this is why it's going to be so fun to watch him. Flame out because everyone's going there. Is there anyone in the sport. That people are rooting against the way. They're rooting against that dude. Like if i gave you one. If i can give you one guy in the sport who you want to see suffer every sunday be a misery route on his unhappiness. You're in jacksonville. You're making all the money in the world and you think you're going to yell your way to the championship daniel snyder i think urban probably because you mean more the more people you know tony i need some how plays because of course chris. Cody can't get his phone working. So i can't get the visual payoff that i'm looking for here. Where are we on chris. Cody giving us. I think he's afraid of ending up at this thing. You guys are doing later this afternoon. All sweaty but don't be so bad if you're going to do he'd be sweating whether he ran around the block or now okay. So let's get him running here. Go ahead chris start your trot now and at the end of the second rainy okay. That's good that's good rushing at the end of the segment. You can stop running. Just please put the camera in front of your face and keep running. Thank you chris wittingham. What was the funniest thing from the sports weekend. Feel free to take as long as you want asking to recapping this greg. Gumbel 's promo for cbs platform paramount plus featuring all of the soccer properties. That they have. Now greg gumbel as clearly never watched a soccer match in his life. He promoted the you. Laughing and craig fumble goes. Do you want to do it next. Time and anna march. Let it goes. No thanks i'm good gumbel. He's been struggling. He's been struggling for a few years. Now where he's getting basic very basic talking about me very basic thing wrong and that's unprofessional. I don't the the thing though. I do express some sympathy because soccer is a foreign language to your average american broadcaster right. It's surprising that. Cbs is so strongly in this cbs. For the last eighteen months has been hoovering up soccer rights and it just doesn't fit kevin harlan's profile. Sure you don't say that's arch aleta. Though i mean it's fumbles job to know how to pronounce those words on your. You're saying that is funny. Yes but you're saying the other is shocking to me because you're a professional broadcast. You take great pride you if you come home after doing an an mls game and you've butchered one word. How much are you gnawing off your right arm. All evening slowing. That's more the fact that the clip went viral. I would. I wouldn't. I would hide under my bed for three. I'm stunned that your some. His job is a professional broadcaster. I'm sympathetic towards people who don't know soccer. I'm not gonna hammered the guy because the sports and he's focused on his entire life or football basketball and baseball he's a man in his sixties and all of a sudden soccer has has entered the cbs conversation. Kind of you. I'm just saying that the bear may the this is a gumbel. You've got the gumbel name. You're not supposed to read things. The way stu gods would like. That's not by moving on moving on but it's the funniest thing with sports weekend. You seem angry about this. i'm not no. I'm not angry about it. I just find it funny that this language like it's basically like speaking german right. I speak german. Which is the sport that no one you know like until now in the mainstream media is really paid that much attention to and now i find it funny that a lot of people who are struggling with it. Stick airman for us. Tony can you give us what you imagined to be. The funniest thing from the sports weekend users german soccer player names diamond shaft. Dan over the over the weekend. Jameis winston after a huge win was asked by tom. Rinaldi about as preparedness. And you know my coach told me. What did he tell me. He told me something never mind. He told me something. I we were prepared completely. Forgot the cliche that he was going to say sean. Payton's get a a turn him into a good quarterback already has an incredible guys. What was the funniest thing from the sports weekend dan. You ever try running slightly downhill warranting. Yes it's a very dangerous game. Trade scooting downtown nashville down a hill. And i nearly eight. My leg is still hurting from that. We're gonna break my fall. The ohio state bandleader tried to run full sprints slightly downhill at in front of seventy five thousand fans bell flat on his face switched to oregon as soon as that happens. How you doing chris in through the nose mouth daniel.

"Behaviour there certainly some orioles fans who are not happy about it. Because i said look either their kanki or they're completely incompetent in putting together oscar. It has to be one of the other. He got well orioles right now or sort of in line to have the worst three year run since the tigers in the early two thousand which is really saying something since those were historically bad teams. I understand where the orioles are coming from in some sense because they're in a division that is just absolutely loaded with team beckons spend money that has always been the case. They may have found ways to be competitive in the recent hats. The thing that really bothers me buster. I think the same thing that bothers you. And there's no pattern the pattern of behavior of suck. It doesn't look obvious that's to change anytime soon. If they're not willing to spend money at all it's one thing but they're not fielding a remotely competitive roster and what bothers me so much is that not really affects. The pennant race wins have happening here in the american league east to be specific. You're down the stretch. It's whoever can beat up on the orioles. The best or the most is gonna wind up having the upper handed. I just don't like that. I mean i understand. You're supposed to beat the teams. You're supposed to beat but in some sense i think it's it's awfully bad for the sport that the razor even individual rates could be decided by the fact that you're just going to beat a triple eighteen team as many times as you possibly can because that's effectively. What this team is. I've always been a fan of something like a salary cap floor in baseball Could argue probably to blue in the face the merits of that kind of idea but the orioles are kittery joke right now in the fact that it doesn't look obvious. Meet at a toy to change anytime soon. As concerning not only for the rest of the season and how it impacts the races are moving into the future too. Because i don't think it's a problem going away anytime soon. Well next time we talk. I wanna talk to you about Shohei otani and about his new asian because it is absolutely fascinating the difficult decision at the have coming up all right hembo. I will soon later. Boys hembo bleacher tweets all righty buster bleacher tweets for a wednesday and. We only have one tweet. But actually i want to ask you what. What animates you. Buster to to dive into your mentions in spar with all these orioles fans that are coming at you. I know that you are attacking them. They feel attacked. But then you are like i got. I gotta get the muck here what what inspires you do that you do it sometimes. Well and you know i want. When twitter started the cool thing. I would think of myself as being a ten year old baseball fan growing up on a farm in vermont right and and so in social media the idea that you're having a conversation in real time with folks who are passionate about baseball. I always thought that was cool. And look i. You know. I'll go back and forth and if someone gives you a hard time whatever you you sort of good naturedly give him a hard time back. you explain your position. I think it's incredibly important to be civil. You know as you know not out there calling people names or anything like that. I don't mind having a discourse. Because i you know i think of almost like being in a bar and having a conversation with another baseball fan does that make sense absolutely. I love it because lots of people won't engage so i i'm glad that you defended your your position and let everyone now. Hey i'm not piling on. I'm just stating the obvious here. Let's go to our guy cory. Rupert at corey are underscore. Twelve cory writes in talk. Tanking today is there a direct correlation between no salary cap in tanking if only six or seven teams can give the big contracts the best players. What options do small markets have. I'd like to see a salary cap and floor. And i on the salary cap and floor The union in order to you know have a salary cap. The half the degree and as a matter of principle of the unions made clear will not talk about a salary cap. I personally know there are a lot of agents who believed that there could be. There could be a positive way a positive outcome that will actually be good for the players if they at least got into discussions but it doesn't seem like they're they're having any of those discussions at all and yeah look under the current rules. You can understand why the astros did what they did under. You can understand why the cubs with did you can understand the strategy behind what the orioles are doing. I just don't like the idea of teams basically quitting and teams like the app and the royals and the raise and the brewers have demonstrated. You don't have to tank to be competitive. And i hate the idea of the orioles checking out potentially for a decade. You know when they have an opportunity to go out and try to win games to get better. I just find that to be offense. I'm with you man. I mean baseball is an entertainment product. When you're saying that tanking is bad for baseball. You're not wrong because if you're taking you're not putting out entertaining product and therefore. The game is no longer entertaining. So i think that's not like a crazy thing to say or anything i don't i don't know why. People got so riled up but anyway please keep writing and has Tweets twitter and please follow rate and review this podcast. Wherever you get your podcast actually. I'm sorry last thing for today. Want to promote a couple of things again that.

"Baseball tonight. Of course paul bikinis researcher at espn He's a honcho on the show. Get up he tells us he's had oncho. Mike greenberg disagrees hembo. I got to listen as i do on a lot of days to you and mike greenberg on his radio show real your radio show i. Would you agree with me. Yes of course. I mean the only reason they use the hashtag greenie is for marketing purposes for advertising dollars in such content perspective. It should be hashtag though. Yes so i. I had to listen. Yesterday's you're making the case that bryce harper is the most underrated Player in baseball and i immediately texted greenie and i was like. He's not even the most underrated player on his team. Zack wheeler who's probably right now. The front runner to win the national league. Cy young award he to me would be the most underrated philadelphia philly. Please make your case for mr harper. Well the reason i think. Bryce harper is the most underrated. Buster is because of where he started because where he and zack wheeler started in relation to each other. The argument. you're making is a really good. one zack. wheeler has been the best pitcher in baseball. This season there are a lot of fans around the sport. That just don't know that. But when you see i watch a lot of phillies games as you can imagine when you see bryce harper place around the city to city in the nationally. He's still here's the overrated chance whereas harper's then one of the five best hitters in baseball over the last few seasons so to me it's more his career arc that is of interest. I suppose less in prioritizing who is more or less underrated and he or wheeler dealer has had an outstanding season as a front runner to win. The cy young award and i think will actually get some down ballot. Mvp votes and should. But the reason i feel. Bryce harper has become so underrated. Excuse me yeah so underrated because from from becoming a prodigy to seen Then to legitimately overrated. There was a stretch of time in which he just wasn't very good but that's still sort of the public consensus there whereas the data indicate otherwise. Become a top ten player across the board again. Yeah so hembo fun for you. Last week to do a victory lap considering how quickly the phillies may true your prediction that the phillies would storm into first place. Yes yes. and i've gotten a bunch of tweets sort of congratulating me for that which is kind of funny i suppose between the phillies stands in the brewers fan. Some of my predictions this year are holding true but have to honest in the phillies case. The reason i thought were more likely to to storm the top to the top of the division over. The last two months of the season was actually because of their relative ease in strength of schedule. Not necessarily because you know the kyle gibson. Andy kennedy moves. We're going to somehow jolt the roster or that all of a sudden they would start hitting like crazy to me like it was just a race for eighty five wins in the national league east. The fact would be swept the mets and pitched so incredibly well in that series. Even surprise me so. I don't wanna count my chickens before they hatch as a fan of this team. They're still hold on this roster and like you said before the braves are coming to braves are not gonna follow by the wayside just because of the acuna injury especially considering how active they were at the trade deadline but yes it feels awfully good to be at least fan right now obviously to the l. yesterday. That's what a weird Dame around the rain delay but my money is on the phillies women ashley east and obviously going to stand by that. Yeah i i do think the braves are going to get better as we go along here. What are you on the red sox. So i have identified. I think are three potential fatal flaws for this team right now. Which for my money is on the fast-track finishing fourth four in the american league as the first buster is that they just can't catch you mentioned this. Yes last week on the podcast. Excuse me dead. Last in all of baseball in defensive efficiency on grounders on fly balls and naturally overall as analytics guy at least in some sense with alex core is. I would have to imagine that. Irks tim to no end. Secondly they can't finish innings. Their pitching staff has allowed three hundred. Twenty one to out hits the only teams to allow more or the two worst teams in baseball. The orioles and the diamondbacks they can't finish innings and lastly they can't finish games as we saw last night. Buster in the ninth inning. This season the red sox owned the lowest add batting average in baseball. Everybody 176 as a team in the ninth inning and have been outscored by nineteen runs that minus nineteen differential in the ninth. Inning is better than only the minnesota twins so when you boil all those factors together i think what you said. Yesterday on get upright is exactly right. Chris the single most important player for any team the last month and a half of the regular season. I tweeted out yesterday about the orioles. Non-competitive.

"I think what happened is that i think the fans are. We're kind of over in our little corner of baseball. All right we suck the game. Suck everything socks. it's okay but when buster comes down from the clouds the hammer and kinda shines a light on. I think people just naturally defensive. I think it would be nice if i mean. Obviously the manager will never do this but to admit they're just tanking and this is the plan and this is what we're sticking with. I think that's fine and tim. You mentioned orioles. Fans being spoiled does fans may even a little older and definitely younger like so not spoiled. We don't remember any of that. I'd exist during those days so it's a completely different vibe. I wish we could say oh. We had good times to fall back on. But we really don't so. That's a bummer. Tim within the context of the american league. East rehab the yankees with our huge payroll. Where you have the boston. Red sox with their payroll capability the tampa bay rays arguably best run franchise the toronto blue jays with that amazing young core players. When are the orioles going to be relevant again. It's gonna be awhile. Buster and a couple of things have trouble. May i know in a privately. Some of their people have said well. Look what we got left with here. I mean it's gonna take a while when if you look at the orioles. Were you know they. They made the playoffs like four times in seven years before this regime took over. It's not like they've been terrible for fifteen years when they took over. Pretty darn good franchise. When this new regime took over so bottom line is this. Rebuild is going to take longer than the astros longer than the cubs and then when when it does get done. Where are they still going to be. Because the blue jays are only getting better from here. The razor always good and the red sox and the yankees had the money to be good every year. If they choose to spend it so this is gonna take. I'm sorry taylor. This can take several more years before this becomes a contending team. Yeah and let's remember as you know and and a lot of the response yesterday was well. That's how the cubs won the world series. That's how the astros won the world series. There are a lot of teams that have tanked and it hasn't worked out and what you have instead is sustained failure and that's where the orioles all right now. All right tim. Thanks for doing this. Okay buster take care. Hey good to see if the cabinet instead of at the baggage.

"Three before you darvish blake snail and joe moscow all move onto free agency which is part of the reason why. I think this is a good thing. 'cause i gotta say tim without fernando tattoos junior at the padres being world series contender. What about you. I i agree. -buster look before a couple other guys like manny machado. Got hot this team was all about fernando to junior offensively and then the rest was not particularly good. They can't win a stacked national league right now. Would you know against the brewers dodgers giants without tease junior. Not just on the field but at his very best and they're better offense team than they were earlier in the year but Look you're not gonna win. The world series without at guide. Donnelly plan by plan is best. So that's why they have to protect him and make sure he's well our friend. Dan shaughnessy somebody you know very well. wrote a column on sunday in the boston globe. Basically mentioning in in his. Is that the collapse that we've seen from. The red sox is more regression to the mean that this was inevitable that the red sox would not play as well. They had overachieved for a lot of months. I don't know if i agree. What about you is my mentor. This business sees the best one of the best columnists of all time one of the greatest baseball writers ever. And i certainly see his point. But i'm not sure. They overachieved as much as he thinks. And i still think they have a chance to make playoffs but i still think it comes back to. They did not address their biggest need the trade deadline. They need another starting pitcher. They didn't get him. They needed a first baseman. And we'll see if kyle four becomes that guy which game franci cordeiro tried to play. First base last night is this is not an easy position to play in. It did not handle a pop up. That probably would have been caught by a good first baseman. And that's part of the issue. So i'm not going to suggest that they'd totally overachieved all year. The good offensive team period. Maybe a couple of their pitchers were better early than we thought they would be. Richard panetta those guys. But they're still in this thing. Because i'm just not convinced the yankees are ready or the blue jays already. Just overtake the red sox but boy. They're going to have to play a whole lot better than this. Dan is right on every level. They've lost nine out of eleven and looked really bad doing it. You know when you do the show get up or you do sports center that the show producers absolutely loved they're sort of the you know the headline grabbing Words and so suggested to hembo yesterday. Why don't we talk about the most important player in major league. Baseball the rest of the season into me tim. That would be chris sale. Because when you look at where the red sox are you look what happens in with a regression of starting pitching. What sale does the rest of the year to me is going to be is going to determine whether or not the red sox make the postseason what do you think. Yeah good point But the difference is buster a month and a half ago. He was going to be a luxury. Hey look we added like a great trade that they've made and now he's not a luxury. He is a necessity east. Got a comeback and be really good. He may not have to carry them but he can't come in and just give them three innings and get out of there as he. He make sure he stays safe. Which is what he should be doing. You can't just come in and catch the sixth-inning and leave he's gonna have to come in join the rotation and be really good because better richards era and even native all the hasn't been particularly good lately so they're going to need sale to be great and maybe can be wildly competitive. He's got great stuff. Still the numbers have been good so far. But i think that's an awful lot to ask for a guy who's missed as much time as he has before you go. I want to ask you about the orioles intelligent ready to jump in here tim yesterday. I think i just woke up grumpy. And i was looking at the standings. And i was looking at where the orioles are and seeing that they are now again on pace to win fifty six games which would be the third consecutive full season including two thousand eighteen two thousand nineteen in which they lost at least one six games That would be unprecedented. The american league. It looks like they're run. Differential is going to be about minus two hundred forty meaning over year period. They're they're run differential about minus seven hundred seventy and. It just bothered me. Tim because look. I believe that what's going on. Here is the franchises tanking. And here's the thing. If you're in i got some pushback memorials fans off. And here's the thing. It's either tanking or uttering competence terms putting together a roster. Because let's face it. You can't be this bad team without working at it. Like i think when i you know when we started covering baseball it always hearing from folks in the game. Every team starts out of season with fifty four wins fifty four losses in. It's what you do with the other fifty four. That's difference making and so when you have the orioles went. Forty-seven games tim you have to. In my opinion you have to design a team to be that bad. What's your take on the orioles. While they're they're pitching is indescribably. Bad right now. What is the buster six losses in a row. I think they've given up nine runs a game or something. It's just absurd and they're going to have the stars area over six if they don't watch it for the season over six that's impossibly bad and the tanking word buster would use a lot. I don't disagree with. I understand what you're saying. I know they're trying to win every single night out. But i would say they're poorly put together. And this is a rebuild. We understand that but the rebuild as taken much longer than anticipated as been done particularly well obviously and they just haven't found pitching anywhere and they're going to have to find some. They have some pretty good everyday. Players know mount castle and as and of course. Cedric mollins. good. You know all star player but if you can't stop anyone from scoring runs that's real dangerous and again it comes back buster. Maybe i'm a little bit too close to this and some degree that you are going to look at. How great this franchises ben in its history it the fans of baltimore rightfully spoiled even from what happened in the seventy s. I mean my goodness teams one of the greats. We've ever seen and they're so bad right now that that comparison is really painful for oriole fans. Yeah and i wanna make clear like cedric. Mullins is not going out on the field thinking about finding ways to lose. He's a great player brandon. Either managers not trying to find ways to lose. I think it comes down to spending. And what's the resources you wanna devote to the team As you go through your off season work in your prepare for the year that to me is is where the design failure comes in. Taylor he i know you You saw some response to this conversation social media yesterday maybe from some brands. oh yeah buster. Everyone in my life that loves the orioles showed me that tweet..

"Dodgers now. Two first place teams you know. We did the phillies like ten days ago. And you know they were under five hundred and it didn't look like they were gonna make around then they want starting with our game against the the nationals. Ace one eight games in a row. Now they're in first place in their division and even though the braves are charging the mets certainly are done by any means The phillies made a quick turnaround. Here and a really really played well in august. We'll see if they can keep that up. We got a good pitching matchup. Kyle gibson david price looking forward to so. Paul indicates that we're going to hear from in a little while A week ago he made a prediction that vilis would wind up winning this division. And he's already doing victory laps over that prediction okay. Are you confident about that. Because i still feel like that. The brains are going to be like remember that Kentucky derby when that horse smarty jones came up from the outside a wound up winning. I feel like the braves are going to figure this out. Tim hembo should know. There are no victory laps on august. The eleventh that's always a dangerous thing to do Look the braves in one seven and a ten since the the trade deadline. They won six out of seven. They redid their whole outfield. They added power where they really needed to through smileys been really good for them. They upgraded their bullpen with richard rodriguez. And let's not forget. They came one base running mistake last year. Way going to the world series now. I don't think they're a great team by any means right now with all the injuries but can they win this division. Of course they can but suddenly we have a three team race with no great teams in there but phillies are better than we thought lately. Braves better than we thought lately. We'll see where the mets go from here. So yeah no doubt the braves to win this. But i think the phillies can also and so can the mets. But a lot has to go right now. A lot of the conversation you guys are going to have the night no doubt about it is going to be about the dodgers injuries. And i remember you. And i talking on the trade deadline special last week urged to weeks ago. How the time. The dodgers made that trade for max scherzer intrigue turner. I felt like it wasn't a case of you. Know the rich getting richer. I felt like it was a case of a team making deals for players that they would need because of other injuries. And mookie betts keeps on having this issue with his hip daybreak. Talked about him coming back. Before friday and that Injure lists is very possible in around the edges. We just saw the dodgers Place clayton kershaw on the sixty day injured list given his name is given his track record all the mileage. I don't think you can count on anything there. So the dodgers while. I think we look at them as being the most talented team in baseball. I don't see this juggernaut rolling enact tober inches of blitzing other teams. Well i thought that's what we were gonna see but that was a month ago. And then i was in then i thought well they got assures her turner. How could they lose from here. But if mookie betts is heard and clayton kershaw hurt. Perhaps as bad as you suggest here than there are different team. I mean the reason. They're going to be the team to beat going into october. Is they can go sure. Zor kershaw bueller areas one through four completely healthy. While if that's not gonna happen now. It's a different situation and again. Let's face it lewke. Bats was as big a reason as anne that they won the world series. Last year he won two world series games with his glove in his legs. If he's not the same player because he's not moving well enough for the bad hip then. Yes the dodgers have you know. They've got their work. Cut out for them on every level to try to compete now while the dodgers are dealing with that we're seeing the san diego padres preparing for the return of fernando tattoos junior. Tim as in outfielder which to me makes a lot of sense. Like the padres. Actually two winters ago talked to the cleveland indians about a possible deal for francisco. Indoor this was before you know tattoos Junior great performance last year. And i think there was a sense of you. Know what if dante's junior can't figure it out at shortstop and we can go get linda or he'll play shortstop patsies. Junior will be integrate in the outfield. I think this could be terrific within coming back and and a lot more manageable with dissipated shoulder want leukerbad played second base the other day buster. I was amused by something. I saw somewhere that the dodgers are going to play him there and somebody mentioned because it's less wear and tear on your body. Sorry playing the infield is more wear tear on your body then playing the then. The plane outfield the all due. Respect the outfielders think fernando Junior has a chance to protect the shoulder. More by running around in the outfield as a play as opposed to doing everything has to do playing shortstop they're more dive plays more contact double plays everything else. And there's also when you're this good of an athlete you can move from center is shortstop center. Not going to be easy. I'm not gonna say is going to be great out there but robin yet won a gold shortstop moved. The outfield won a gold glove in centerfield. Great athletes can do that to junior can do that. And they've proven they have other guys who can play shortstop maybe not in the same level as him but jake krohn worth can play. Shortstop manny machado inside over there. Kim can play shortstop so maybe they have more options and the number one thing is they have to get him back on the field no matter what no matter where to centerfield to save for place supply. Put him out there and let him hit. We talked after the deadline. About how with all these traits the padres have strip mine their farm system and they now because they that pipeline a pitching that we thought they had is not there. They seem to have in. The eyes of evaluators of teams have very specific window in which they might contend for the world series. Two thousand twenty one two thousand twenty two and two thousand twenty.

"Jenny is a vet in what community of Silicon Valley are you in? Ginny Day area based out of their Toga. Oh okay well. You're closer to us than most people in Silicon Valley that's good. She is with lap of love hospice. Which is an animal hospice lap of Love Dot Com and is here to talk to us? Well what hospice does about the issue surrounding at home euthanasia which I know that many pet parents want but often don't think about as soon as they should. So that's where we should start. And Laura I will let lower pay ca start this. She has lots of experience more than I have years and years of dog training and I'm sure has run into this people who'd like to have their dog go peacefully at home in place. They know as opposed to as part of a sometimes frightening trip to the veterinary office. Laura doctored any. I guess my first question would be when a dog is getting older one. Should people start thinking you know? We need to have an exit plan or the dog. Is there a certain green? I would render people start thinking about that. Believe it or not when your dog is healthy. It's a lot you no matter what it's going to be hard to think about. But you can think a little clearer before you hit any crisis mode once you hit a point that you feel like you're in crisis mode because of a disease or condition with your pet. Your judgement becomes a lot. Cloudier it's already going to be overwhelming so really having a good sense of quality of life. And what makes your pet your pat you know those little idiosyncrasies. Maybe it's the love of eating. Maybe it's getting up and greeting you at the door grabbing that favorite toy and zooming around it being silly the things that make your pat. Your path that you know they enjoy. It's time to start tallying and thinking about that as soon as possible before you get to the point where you really have to make some hard decision. So we've made the decision to have some. Come to the home for euthanasia. What's next out? So once the euthanasia appointment is set our our care. Coordinators will really support you. Send you a lot of good information on how to prepare yourself and your pot before. The doctor conduct their such as thinking. About where you want us to take place most of the time. It's in the House but a lot of times it can be done in the yard especially these days with Kobe We're recommending outside as much as possible. Sometimes we've even done it and parks beaches. Whatever place is special and sacred to you and your pet? We want to honor that Preparing the mood as well from everything from their favourite toy maybe they're comfy bad that they love really thinking about what you want surrounding your pat and yourself in those final minutes before I even get their cow. Yeah it's it's very very close cause We we just had. Our MOM's dog put down like today's ago so I'm thinking oh my gosh it is I never saw. I mean we did. Have someone come out to the home but I never thought of the company in here United Scheduling you. I'm thinking Oh my gosh. In retrospect eminent makes so much sense. All you're saying I mean you make it more of a you're taking away some of that I don't know what to say. You just feel so sad but at least you're thinking now. My dog likes this. My dog likes this and even if it went on the beach I mean I just think that's wonderful that she can do those kinds of things what what happens afterwards. I wouldn't be right there. We talk you through every step. We want to kind of lay out. What the whole process looks like before we actually start the process because this is what we do day in day out. We know emotionally. You know it's tough. It's also Tucker someone to lead in a complete strangers gonNA take them home as such a secred. You know event so we want to kind of build that relationship with you and lets you know from beginning to add during the appointment. Every doctor is a little different. But in general actual appointment consist of a sedative injection that let's your putts go heddon lose consciousness in your arms and that's extremely important and that is basically the center of homemade's in Asia is making sure their final memory is not that is not a scary office. Is You and the people that matter surrounded by the people that love them in their home? So we use our sedation and anaesthetic drugs to kind of control that situation so I always tell people you know since the good stuff. We don't really hold back on the good stuff You know we have an opioid and mayor. A lot of US use valium like drugs as well and I do let people know once they give us injection somewhere around five to ten minutes. Your pet is going to lose consciousness. Oh wants you to take these next few minutes and make him the golden minutes you tell them whatever you need to tell them you love on them you cry and tell them you know how much you just adore them and I will step aside so one status happened. I go ahead and we do the final medication which is a classic medication That we use in the clinics. It's a barbecue it overdose. It goes into usually a vein 'cause straight to the brain and the brain tells everything to shut off. Now you're PAT has already been under anesthesia. Your pet has already made their final memory so they have no memory. They won't feel a thing about this final injection and once that happens. We will go ahead and honored your family's wishes on what you would like four final arrangements. Some families choose to bury their cat in which case we We'll collect a few memorial items such as a clay pot and even clipping affir- and you know leave you to kind of honor. Your final arrangement. Most families will elect for us to go ahead and take your pet. And make sure they get to the crematorium for cremation and it is up to the family if they would like their pets. Ashes returned to them in a private cremation or if they would rather have their pets remain. Scattered You know our crematorium does it at a ranch in the base of the Gatling Mountains in a ten miles south of Gilroy. So there's a lot of different options really for Final arrangements as well as setting feed. And that's kind of where I feel like Lapa love. We really try to think about every aspect of the appointment and guide us so you can just focus on your family at North Pat and we will go ahead and guide you through the whole process. It sounds like you do What's what's changing now. Because with with the virus I mean it's like the six feet distance and all that how. How is this working out for you and and owner well? That's a great question and to be honest with you all in a little bit of flex here but we are Atlanta love are continuing to serve families throughout this now Every doctor is a little different but most of us are in full p. p. e. so I do let clients now that I will be in a mask and I even have gown shoe covers if we're inside gloves and what I do when I arrive is I give the client call and ask if they can step outside and we can have a conversation without my mask on from six feet away and I kind of guide people at that point The most important thing though is that I still keep the pat an family at the center of this appointment. So what I tell. People is is long as you have some sort of masks or facial covering you can still hold your pet threw out the appointment. I kinda died people on when I need them to put the mask on for the injection but then also guide them students. They step away to immediately take off through their pet. Consider face so we it. This last week has definitely been a little bit of a learning curve. I've Ha- from ideas. That didn't quite work out but the most important thing is you know still. Have you be with your pet for the injection as long as you know? I'll tell you to put your mask on if I have to be close by and really trying to make this still peaceful experience and I will tell you the families that I've been so honored to serve in the past. Few weeks have been amazing. They have been so understanding of the fact that I'm p. p. e. and you know no contact between us which is so counterintuitive to what we do is hospice veterinary and they usually dole out a few hugs throughout the appointment. Yeah but my family has just been so understanding about the fact that we have to wear masks once in a while but I usually wear a mask at all times and I'm disinfecting all of my equipment even carside so all the families kind of see what I do after appointments as well and and you know I. I was worried about how families. We're going to take it but again all families have just been so grateful. Not only of the precautions. I'm taking but just the fact that I can come out there and I always say my my family's that invite me into their homes. Those are those are my people found my people so it it really is You know really a light in the world that I needed to see of of all of us working together. You'll get this sacred experienced gun at personally as possible but also knowing we're going to be as safe as possible not only for your family's house but minus well that's just wonderful The lap of love is is that just in California so lamp of love. We actually our network of approximately one hundred thirty. And we're in thirty two states right now In California we serve. I'm in my territories called Silicon Valley. So I'm in South Bay. Go up from Oakland to San Martine right now we also serve the North Bay with Dr Renee. And we're in the Central Valley Stockton Modesto area with Doctor Michelle the Sacramento Ventura and inland empire as well so it depends on where we have our our doctors situated and so the best thing I tell people to do if you go on our website which is an amazing tool and type in your zip code you can tell right away if there's a veterinarian serving your area or not and you know. The flap of love is really expanded since Dr Daniel Doctor. Mary founded it in two thousand nine You know almost eleven years later and ran thirty key states I think hopefully one day our you know our goal is that all family know about home. Hospice and home euthanasia as an option. So we're hoping that lap allotted is contributing to that movement by continuing to serve and hopefully all fifty states one day. Could you the the website so people can check it out absolutely so The.
