"Everybody knows that. They've only been on the court together for about 180 minutes, then you add in whatever the at the end of this reckless use, and it's not gonna be a lot of time. But I think the reason for optimism Is the way James Harden has embraced his whole as you know, Distributor facilitator with this group and Kyrie Irving really exist being so comfortable on the ball possible and letting hardened being that guard when they've shared the floor together, So that's worked out really Well, I think that's why There is optimism confidence within the Nets about what they can do in the place, even though the Big Three I'm on Lee play, I think six games in the starting lineup together seven overall. And about 180 minutes, so not a lot of time at all to get rolling, especially if you're Steve Nash, First year head coach in the NBA, and with all that said, they're still title contenders. They've been title contenders all season long, even though we haven't seen much of that big three together, but In a way, it kind of feels like New York's always going to be a next town. Would you say if the Knicks were not good this year? Do you think that would still be the case? I do only because you know you're talking about a generational thing. When you're talking about mixing. This has been passed down from I am parents depends the kids. And so it's just so established. Even though the Knicks have been mostly bad for the last two decades had, you know, embarrassing court episodes of the last two decades. It doesn't matter because this year number of Knick fans in the area a sect is so much higher than You know that loyal Brooklyn nets in the Brooklyn Nets really just moved over here two years ago. Now keep that the Nets have a chance to kind of eat into that fan base, the local fan base Not if they win, certainly, but I don't think it's gonna happen Even if Durant Irving and Hardened wins back to back NBA titles. I think it's gonna take some longevity from that group. Theo have a significant local fan base because right now it is still the next town. That is Ian Bagley, of S and why you couldn't catch him. Nets Guard Kyrie Irving Misses Monday's Game Due to Personal Reasons
"All the sports in Minnesota that was supposed to take place on on Monday did not But the Brooklyn Nets took on its Timberwolves Tuesday afternoon, and they beat them. Carry. Irving was originally supposed to Mr Games still didn't play. He was out due to personal reasons. And carry. Irving has missed several games several weeks throughout this season due to personal reasons. He has only played in 38 now of their 54 games. He's just gotten criticized for it. He was actually find You know for violating covert protocols during one of those personal leaves. But I'm not gonna beat up curry Irving about it. I'm gonna beat up the Brooklyn Nets. They're the ones who allow it. Why do they allowed because he's one of the best players in the league. He's one of the best players on the team.

"I kind of pricing that in a little bit the raptors were awesome last year and i thought he could be one of these really good two-way stars and it just has not developed for him and maybe i was overrating him. Based on what ended up being a pretty hot few months at the start of last year but that fault. That star has really fallen. He's not even in any kind of consideration for the top thirty right now. Hardens follow significant as well. I had a v n kind of tier three. I called it the offensive linchpins last year. With steph and luca lillard and first of all of those group has fallen just as guys have kind of risen to meet them but also i just have a little bit. You know last year last year's playoffs and everything else gave me a little less. Trust in hardin being the best player on championship team and continuing to be concerned about his age. Even though he has played extremely wealth is here. Yeah and honestly harden was five for me last year steph for heart and five hundred six in my ear to of grouping those great offensive players. You don't give you a ton defensively together. And i don't know that and even has done anything to deserve to fall that much other than just having one more playoff flameout but davis has been way better this year. Kevin durant now. I had him at nine last year. He's exceeded expectations in the achilles return. Joel embiid nagoyo catch have just been unbelievable so far this year and yokich is playoffs last year as wall zone. Even know that. I think of hardness being even that much worse it's just the competition heath kind of treaded water and maybe dropped slightly in terms of his performance. And those guys have got up and luca was six last year. He to me is a better player this year as as we in ways that we talked about that he was last year and he has a good playoff performance under his belt and poor. Lucas went down from six to eight again. This isn't nothing that he is doing wrong. Here damian lillard if anything has played better over the last year when you look at the bubble and and some of the things. He's done in regular season and he's gone from eight to ten. It's all just these other guys who had even more rises and again for those who are like hand like how could you rank a bead. This lower yokich this low as like fucking unbelievable competition. I mean it really is. You're you've got eleven guys who to me are capable of playing and winning an mvp given season like one of we ever been able to say that before and encouragingly. Even though some of these guys are let's say post prime. A lot of them are lately post prime. So hopefully you know staff and hardin and lebron can bend durant can stay can kind of stay at these levels but who knows maybe maybe it ends up being. We get another year where those guys haven't haven't aged out and the young guys keep rising and maybe we'll see more of this trend. I would love to see that happen. As opposed to the alternative and even even some in in ten to twenty range. Kyrie irving is playing better again. This year rudy go. Bear has played better this year. Zion has had a meteoric rise. Devon booker is on a winning team. Even chris paul chris. Paul had a wonderful nineteen twenty season. Did basically what you would have asked of him in the playoffs and then has been an instrumental. Part of of one of the league's strongest success stories. But they're just there's just so much talent here and you just you have to ultimately note that maybe our conception of these guys were in an off a rising offense era part of part of maybe why we feel like all. These guys are getting better. It's just there's a rising tide lifts all boats to some degree but also we. We haven't seen it other. I mentioned other than murray. Who i have you know in the twenty to twenty six range. Everyone else is doesn't it isn't dealing with a long long-term injury right now on other fallers. Karl anthony towns. I had number thirteen last year and he was playing at a fringe. Mvp level early when the the wolves were playing five hundred ball last year and then he got hurt and obviously he's just had a nightmare year for many reasons beyond what he's dealt with a on the court so he's now kinda down in the mid twenties for me and again. The competition is going to be massive to get back up there Russell westbrook him as being in the ten to twenty range of thought he was a legitimate all. Nba candidate last year. You thought that maybe he had this bad start to last year and then he just started going averaging the sufficiency of of his career. Thirty points a game but then the bubble happened. Yes partially due to injury. And now this year with the wizards obviously arguably been a negative player for them. So he's just not even in any kind of even all star considerations that's that's a pretty new york fall and i- i- discounted his bad start to the season with houston last year's the fit and Coming off a knee surgery but now it seems clear that the outlier was what he did do during that. Two months stretch when they went super small And he's just probably not gonna be an all-star consideration again sadly kemba walker really fallen off as well. That's kind of a sad one..
Brooklyn Nets make waves for bringing Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge to New York
"It up. The Brooklyn Nets are now a quote super team. I mean, they kind of already were after they traded for James Harden earlier in the season, the pair with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, but now that they've acquired Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge via buyouts, the cynical MBA social media sphere is crying. Foul. This nonsense has to stop all your lies. Most have been hating hard on both Alders and Blakes is gained for claiming them washed up has been, But now that they can ride the coattails of the Nets Big three and potentially win a championship. It's unfair. Come on, then. That's your doing what any organization would do if given the opportunity, acquire as much talent as possible, and if they do win a championship?

Nets without all stars Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving and the Jazz wasted no time jumping to a 21 point first quarter lead. Donovan Mitchell led Utah with 27 points. "It's not to save you to have it. Then what good are useful moves and getting Kevin Dawson and obviously the school funny like you have to buy into now what the pitching staff has done like the coaching staff with some of these pictures who were low, I guess. Low risk, high reward type guys, But the joke that we have about two Alex, What is it happened right around the time that James Harden get traded from the Rockets to the next to join Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and I texted Murphy. I said Boy, Alex was there's a name there somebody we recognize that he said. To me, it's not exactly hard into the net so well, it didn't have, like the Super Star shine to it. I do think it's a move that could be good for the Giants. It's a guy who knows the division and If you buy into what the coaching staff is done with these pictures over the last two years, there's no reason to think this couldn't fit that mold. You could go back to even guys like Tyler Anderson last year who he might be unsigned right now, but the giant did not bring him back, and I thought he had a pretty decent season last year, So I think there's a reason to be hopeful and reason to be, uh, fairly excited about what the coaching staff could do with some of these pictures, especially the veteran guys like Alex would Hey, Adam. Bill asking here, chest Chisholm. What a guy. He is. What electric player the Marlins have with them dry ice. The blue hairs got good speed. I'd like to hear your forecast. What do you think of him? And you think he's Ah, big time player coming up. Yeah, I want one. I want a jazz kiss up like every team wants to have that guy. He ignites your fan base ignites your dugout. And I think like you try to think the guys with the Giants have had like that in the past, but maybe they're not Hall of Fame caliber players. But like Pablo Sandoval was a guy like that. He like played the game with such joy and excitement that Sam could get behind that. It This kid's got flair like my mom was over for dinner last night. We're watching the end of the game. And she said, Oh, well, that guy's got blue hair. He immediately jumps off the screen at you whether you've seen him play or not, so I think it's still obviously really early in his career. I think there's reason to be excited about him. But I do know that he has sought out the tutelage of Derek Jeter of his president from the organization and has asked him What does it take to be a Hall of Famer? What does it take? Get to that level, and will not Everybody has that ability or or can end up on the same level is Derek Eater. I think that a young kid like that who's already got this sort of shine and flair and flamboyant, who's not too full of himself to go ask one of the all time legends what it takes to be in all time. Great. I think there's real big reason to be excited about the upside of jazz Chisolm. But if I'm a marlin stand, but she had this team over the last couple days. Carrie and I were joking on Friday when we recorded the podcast that we just didn't know a whole lot of guys on this team. And now there's more names. I think we forgot about Starling market and some of these other guys who have been around the league, but they're kind of like a I don't think last year was a total fluke for how well they played, considering they got into a playoff spot. There's some dangerous players on this team. Yeah, they could definitely beat you. They can catch you by surprise in the giant have already seen that happen in the first two days off this serious copes. I want to go back to the ninth inning. Jake McGee blows the Save Marie So do Bond had entered is a defensive replace. But on Saturday and he doe for a ball in his Marty said he missed it by about 20 Ft in center field later on about three hours later, and the Dodgers Padres game ball hit out to right center field, almost identical play and Mookie Betts makes one of most sensational catch is you will see a walk off catch. As Dodgers broadcaster Joe Davis said. I want to get your impressions of that Syria's so far It's clearly lived up to the hype. But the Dodgers and Padres they think of each other's rivals now. Yeah, I mean, that's all fine and good, but rivalries really. They do start on the field, and it's some capacities right, like their their teams that end up not liking each other. And so games get chippy. And it could be that kind of intense rivalry because we've already seen going back to last season. Ah, lot of really fun games and the first two games of this series between these two teams have been an absolute blast, as you said, down to the final diving catch for Mookie Betts yesterday, But I think when it comes to like historic rivalries, rivalry start with fans and it starts sort of in the stand that I'm not talking about, you know? Being being physical or anything about that. I'm talking about what a fan base think about another team. And really the Giants starter Razali, no matter what they're saying about how great these teams are gonna be neck and neck, the Giants I've had some good rivalries over the last 15 years. I think about him a lipstick and blow into games in Colorado in the Colorado Rockies really kind of being passed for the Giants and the Giants of the Padres in 2000 and 10. But no matter what happens, the Think about rivalries is when you're you've got a team defected divers that could be on top of the world. One of the all time great teams and you get a team like the Giants, who are still battling to get back to prominence. They still got something there. Those games still have juice. So while there is definitely an on field rivalry, and who knows if it ends up getting chippy between these two teams later in the season, I think that we should not think that that anything between the Giants does a rivalry will be lost. I think that'll come toe The forefront when they finally get to play each other again later this season. Hey, Adam. But what other thing I want to talk about in the bullpen. You know, we have middle relief. Anderson struggles to down there. You saw Alvarez struggle after he got two outs. Whistler has been a big question. Marburg are didn't have a good Location on the breaking ball your thoughts on maybe some early changes, or do you think they'll stick with these guys for a little longer? Well, I think some of the guys do. They gave a contract in free agency. Guys like that Whistler Alvarez to you mentioned, Um, I think they get a little bit longer believe because you signed them, right? You went out. You got these guys in the broader minutes. Do you believe I think long term that their stuff is gonna pay off, But I do think that At the end of spring training. We saw you guys you didn't make their way onto the 40 Man roster years at Klitschko's or dump Leo's your Trophy on those guys who we thought would maybe end up on the roster. Think Jonah's believe they have some depth, and these guys have been throwing and playing well with the alternate side. I think if they at some point run into an injury or have an opportunity to move one of these guys on the 40 man without having to get rid of him out with Laura and Alvarez, somebody like that. I think they would. They would make the move. But I think the point is you We lose.

Brooklyn Nets Closing in on Los Angeles Lakers in Updated 2021 NBA Championship Odds
"So let's get started says we're at all star weekend in the nba Not that anybody gives a crap when it comes to the all star weekend but it is a time to go ahead and look back at what we've seen so far in the nba. And how the title odds may have shifted because fez all of a sudden. We've got a brand new co-favourite expected or at least projected to win the nba championship yet. Brooklyn nets plus two eighty the same odds now as the lakers. The nets just about a week ago where four to one. Rj bell recommended a bet on the nets. At that time. I got to give credit. Heck i gotta give her own. Mackenzie rivers credit. He bet the nets at two to one to win the east. And i think i was buying the narrative of oh kyrie irving harden these guys. I just don't trust these guys to integrate to play well together and really the opposite has been true. The nets despite bring harden in missing lots of games. Obviously when he wasn't on the team and having durant missing so many games they're right there with the best record in the east. And i think they only get better and if i make one bet and the futures market i would bet the nets right now. Plus the two eighty jonas. You said you like the nets into win the east even more at plus twenty five right. That's that's the one that that. I would look at because when you get to the nba finals. I mean you know this. I mean i it just depends the matchups. We've seen a couple of weird situations happen in the nba finals. The past couple of years. You saw a bunch of injuries early on for the heat last year in the finals you saw the golden state warriors the year before that with the toronto raptors injuries took place in those final. So we've seen this happen before where it's such a long race when you get to the finish line. It's all about a war of attrition. who's going to be the healthiest when you get to that point. But as far as coming out of the eastern conference. I know that the philadelphia seventy sixers are a great story. But i'm with you fez. These brooklyn nets have played and exceeded expectations thus far just based on personalities. Now they do have kyrie irving. That's the problem because kyrie irving is like the guy who decides to read a book in the middle of party like people are doing cake stands and they're having a good time. There's a bathtub filled with booze. You've got stripper poles. You've got everything. And he decides. That's the time he's going to break out. Warren peace and sit in the middle of the party because he just wants the attention and wants to show that he's different and he's i mean if the earth is not flat then we shouldn't go to the bubble then they should change the nba logo. That's the only reservation. I have about the brooklyn nets. i'm not worried about james harden at all james harden shown he's willing to sacrifice and do something different and decrease his workload from an offense standpoint in order to try and make the team better. I'm not worried about kevin durant. He's already been paired up with stars before it had a couple of stars at he's played with kyri to me is the one piece of that that i would. I would be a little bit concerned with. And but here's the other part of the nets. And why. I like this and especially like to win the eastern conference. What's the one knock on james harden throughout the course of his career. Great regular season runs out of gas in the postseason. Well now he's not having to carry the entire offense himself. So if that's the case and you're going to get a better rested better in condition. James harden when the postseason comes around fez to me that just screams brooklyn coming out of the eastern conference
2021 NBA All-Star Game Atlanta Draft Results
"Far exceeding expectations and 1918 record, they beat Detroit of the guard 1 14 1 before they're all star Julius Randle again led the way. 27 points. 16 rebounds, seven assists. All five starters were in double figures They picked the squad's for Sunday's game in Atlanta, and Randall will play for team Kevin Durant. The Durant won't play to the injury. Not surprising. Durant also picked his Nets teammates Kyrie, Irving, James Harden, LeBron James. Like the other team will have the slam dunk competition at halftime On Sunday. Knicks rookie over Topping will be in it in their work Rangers all over the
James Harden in Houston return, MVP case is growing stronger
"James harden incredible and his return back to houston he got mixed reviews from the fans understandably and then also joel embiid incredible forty points nineteen rebounds so stephen eight. Let me ask you this do they. James harden is actually the mvp right now to me is at this particular moment in time he is. I mean the only a half game behind. Joel embiid philadelphia. Seventy sixers and most of the stuff that james harden has done in a brooklyn nets uniform without the services of kevin durant and to some degree without kyrie irving. And so. when i look at it. I say to myself. Damn this guy comes in brooklyn. He's the three time leads leading scorer dirty points per game over the last three games. He's been absolutely sensational. And then he comes to brooklyn and says i'll be the point guard. I'll be the facilitator. I'll get everybody involved and kyrie's like thank you very very much. That's exactly what i wanted to hear. That's news to my ear and he's as run this team. Joe harris was on awards. Podcast and he was talking about. What a godsend james harden has been. What a leader. He has been how he's distributing the basketball etc etc. James harden is flat out ball. He's he's putting up triple doubles like they're going out of style. He's leading the league and assist. He's still averaging twenty five a game and by the way despite their troubles. They've won ten their last eleven games and this man has led the way. And they're only have game out of the philadelphia. Seventy sixers the number one seed in the eastern conference without again the services of kevin durant for the last eighteen games. That's why james harden in this fashion. That is why. I believe he is the league. Mvp at this moment in time
Kyrie Irving wants NBA to honor Kobe Bryant with new logo
"And he has been campaigning for something. And that has been For the NBA logo. To be changed. To Kobe Bryant. Carrie says it needs to happen. Los Angeles' Lakers LeBron James Scores 35,000th Career Point
"On how things go in the next few minutes. This could be one of those games where LeBron James gets a little bit of rest in the fourth quarter tonight as Brooklyn is all over the Lakers right now, 89 72 in the final minute of the third quarter. James Harden has 21 Kyrie Irving's got 12 and four assists. Meanwhile, LeBron James we talked about him hitting the 35,000 point Plateau in the MBA earlier in this game has 27. Basically, that's really it for the Lakers as far as he's having a big night, Kyle Kuzma has this having a nice knights got 16 and nine, But the Lakers just getting beat right now by the Nets. And

"You don't put that in there if you don't want people to have the reaction that we had in my view. Okay but i'm just trying to think back to my own response to that press conference. The tiger held to apologize for his affairs. Which is just a bizarre statement to make like press conference to apologize for your affairs just like the fact that that happened And maybe maybe. I would've felt differently now but back then and i wrote about it at the time. The thing that struck me about it joel was how phony tiger seems And he had four kind of financial gain. And as you alluded to for kind of corporate reasons corporate interests he cultivated this image of being squeaky clean family man and kind of exploited that image and the way that he talked about it at the Press conference in the hub. his mom And stage-managed like refused to take questions like okay. Don't have the press conference but if you do just the way that he did it seemed like you know. The exact opposite of introspective and just seem more about protecting tiger. The brand and that's just a conflict that has come up throughout his life and also in. This documentary is like who is that like. Is there a real person there or is. It just dislike robotic dude. Who's been trained to be this particular way since birth seat. That's a really interesting point. Because i wanted to ask you all this like. Do you feel that. You know anything more about tiger. As a person at the end of this i felt like it was more commentary on the way that we saw him in the way that he was covered but i even the people that they interviewed in his life that were extensively close to him. It just didn't seem like they knew very much about the guy but these were all people that had been exiled from his life and there. this was not authorized. Tigers agent came out and said like this is like horrible and salacious. Just like the book that it was based on damon. Imagine a documentary about your life where the talking heads are the girlfriend. That hates you right interview old. I mean if if that happens in they all just say this guy was just really obsessed with writing. Okay i'll take it out. That's the worst thing yet. You don't really like kyrie irving and he did love the right things. So yeah i. I saw the the comment that this was like salacious thing. But i'm washing it. And i think that you know i think like this exists for people who are not yards for like you're you're just regular. Hbo person who watches tv. Watch documentaries because there were no new revelations from this. And i'm not even a person who would a person who knows a lot about agar who has followed his career capacity but there were no new revelations in this documentary. What about the mean letter that he wrote his first girlfriend. Oh god so he is. He's obsessed with golf leaf treated. He tweeted his ex when he was twenty. One or twenty two are saying. Wait a lot of twenty one or twenty twenty two year olds. Who gets letters. Yes i mean at least wrote a letter. He didn't ghost just miss a day in exile she season. It's on tv so he did write a letter. Greg good handwriting. And and so i just i don't know i did not learn anything. My wife was watching with me. She learned some stuff about him but there is nothing in this. That was latest that was station realistic. That was anything to be. If i'm tiger. I'm like okay this. This shows that i'm obsessed with golf. And then i had some fears and then people were wear around me. And i just wanna play golf. It'd be left alone. I think that that goes to josh's point You mentioned that tiger seems phony and it could be that like he has put this wall up around himself in a way so that people don't actually get to know who he is that we don't actually get there's no that does not a chance for any intensity because he even earl woods. I mean he built them up he wanted. He said he was going to be is great as nelson mandela. And all these other you know you know legends. Gandhi gandhi right. So i mean like they were always focus right. They will always focused on building him in public image but not necessarily giving us a window until like his internal being which is fine. I mean. I don't think that we need to know i don't know anything about michael jordan at an. I didn't know much about kobe. A don't know really about like lebron. I mean they want to sell you the artifice of intimacy with these celebrities and athletes. But it's just not possible and so we see it as phoniness but like that is just that is them keeping their distance but the thing about tiger that was interesting to me is that it seems that the people close to him didn't actually get close to either. I mean steve williams sitting here talking about joe I didn't know. I never thought the tigers would never call back again. We were buddies and then but then they talked Tell who was like. Oh when tigers spent time with me he could really be himself and finally you know he could really you know let his guard down and then she gets you know is it just felt like all these people had moments and an moments with tiger but they never actually got close to him maybe that strategic on his part of maybe it's just not he's just a guy that you can't get close to into both of your points you know i think what we're reading as in authenticity is actually just a lack of anything they're like maybe there is nothing willing to get closer to and we assumed that he is a lot more complicated than he actually is and he everything we know about him is that he eats and sleeps gulf in a likes blondes and that is maybe that is it a lot blonde perkins wait blind you know all right well likes blonde and blonder jason and that's just it with him maybe there's like there's nothing else there trying to find these. I don't know these nuggets. The personality or something to kind of anchor us to the pool us into his orbit the you know. What else is there and you know i. I don't. i'm not convinced that there anything else. I do have sympathy for him though. Because he was never allowed to be a person like even his dad transformed into this icon. Like to have even your own family talk about you and the way that like an in the most insane fan. Yeah would describe you. That has to work from a very early age. I mean he's on the mike..

"With him on all that stuff but in terms of hey man show up beyond time. Be accountable like you know. Just be here and like. Don't start no shit. It just doesn't seem like that is something that he is really good at. You mentioned the cavs at like you know. Brian tried to get rid of them. Well you know. The cavs suffered too much after he left like they went to the finals again. Loss the next year right. He went to boston that first year when he was hired. And then you know the the young boys you know. Tatum and brown went to the conference. Finals lost to lebron them and they ran it back the next year and they will worse great. Then he leaves in the celtics. Were good again. You know they were still you know. I think they still lost in. The semis did they. I think they lost in the conference. Semis they lost to miami. The miami and a gap by a raptors team. That was bad. Yeah and so that part of it. I think again you could just look at the facts and you could have that takeaway but again even thinking about that celtics season when they didn't live up to expectations but yet carry was a part season. So what's gordon hayward. Who was terrible that year but guests shoehorn back into start lab you know in jalen brown was coming off the bench at the beginning that season you make room for you had cable doing a season-long pal about planet marcus morris on a who would literally get into fights on sideline so you had just follow mix in carry is not like a leader. He's not the sort of person that's going to put you know that is going to put a cap on all of that in. Just tell the guys like you know. Let's rally row. He's not that topic but it doesn't seem like he wants to be that guy though right like excuse me he wanted to be the number one guy on a team right. I mean i i do that. No no actually when he when he requested to leave. Cleveland is the Where he wanted to go. What san antonio that would. That was his number one choice. You did not choose to go to san antonio when you're asking the leave cleveland. If you want to be like he would you will. He would've been like you know. A stimulus phoenix same sacramento sydney to minnesota semi. I mean to the knicks. He wanted to think that he wanted to go to san antonio but his his choice when he was when he was traded to go to san antonio and again this is. This is the thing that is a verify thing where he wanted to be a part of a system With a great coach ended up by framing things. This way. i'm curious for your response to the straw. Well first of all the celtics loss to the heat and the conference finals last year. So let's give him some credit for making the conference finals but think about kyri versus harden harden at his most disruptive like when he was in houston and was basically conducting a sit down strike on the court in the last few games where he laughed more more disruptive than kyrie has ever been but when hardin is like all their and wants to play like. That guy is all about basketball. All about being on the court and some of this is just injuries and lock although kirita to seem like He has kind of a fragile body. About kyrie irving has never played more than seventy five games and season. He's played as many as sixty five games. Just four times in nine seasons hardened his played more than seventy five games five times and he's played more than sixty five in ten of his eleven seasons so harden is at once and in my view more disruptive but also more reliable and getting back to something that damon said it just feel feels like harden is like kind of a little nutty in the ways that are actually beneficial to to a basketball team whereas kyrie's quirks are like the quirks that you know he's more of a solo artist and more like maybe not a great co-worker like he's a guy that you know his particular personality or viewpoint or maybe not as conducive to being in the nba will join us. I want to say really quickly to is like. I think that we can separate the quirkiness from injury. Because he it's true. I think the biggest the biggest issue. I think what career forget about the quirkiness. Forget about the locker rooms off is that he hasn't been able to stay healthy for launch atop. Rees had all these injuries. It even goes back to his. Tomek were dino. He interest of his body that even existed and and so that has been a recurring saying for him throughout his career. And i think that that when he is not injured. Didn't yeah you you take. What gives you take the twenty seven points a game the highest. He does not turn the ball over heat like he for a person who has the sort of reputation for his game that he has never turned the ball over you take that and when he is playing when he is actually on the court he is good. This is this time right now. These last weeks have been the only stretch of his career where he has been out in wasn't injury related because when he plays he plays well then that is been a thing in so but apparently of hardened hard and is instruct harden is his game. he doesn't just have a game he has savant body like. I don't know how someone would that body is able to produce the way. He does also not miss any time is either never gets injured or he's able to play with injury in a way that few people in professional sports history of been able to because yeah he is he is extremely reliable in. That's one of the greatest things about his game as he just either doesn't get hurt or he's able to play through it in a way that few other players are this episode of hang up and listen is brought to you by mail. "Copyright two thousand twenty bank of america corporation. Okay i want to preface this next segment by saying we recorded it before. Kyrie irving came back to the brooklyn nets which happened on tuesday. He explained his absence by saying he just needed a pause and he said that he had personal and family. Things to deal with without getting into specifics. So we recorded this next conversation before any of that happened on monday night and brooklyn the nets. Beat the milwaukee bucks. One twenty five twenty three and the best game of the nba season so far while kevin durant the winning three of a pass from his new teammate james harden and harden his averaging a thirty three thirteen assists and nine boards and the two games since coming to brooklyn via trade from the houston rockets. He seems to have gotten a surge of energy Seems just like in better spirits. Better shape it's just heat. He needed that fresh brooklyn air anyway. The nets are now the favorite to win the eastern conference and that is without kyrie irving on the floor for the last two weeks because of unspecified. And i quote here personal issues. Damon the nets are now the most fascinating team. Nba there may be more fascinating than the entire rest of the nba combined. Let's start with kyri Who you've written about thought about a ton. You basically have a phd and kyrie irving nobody in the organization or outside of it seems to know win or if he'll be back. What are your thoughts on. What's going on with him. So i friends are also aware that i've written about car reeks and they consider me like some sort of carry whisperer. I if i'm in his inner circle. And i can read his mind inside. I've been asked this question repeatedly over the last two weeks and my answer to them is the same. We're gonna give you is. I have no clue what is happening with him right now but i will say this and this is something that i guess i who wrote the piece for slate Last week akari. Jack jack hamilton hamilton. Down with him and he he he made this point in the piece is that kerry kind of represents this fundamental i guess fundamental difference in how regard sports in how sports is kind of solid off from the rest of how we regard to side. Because i do not think that carry irving's should be playing. Nba basketball right now if he has some sort of mental health issue or some sort of emotional issue or just isn't feeling up to what's happening but no one should be playing nba basketball right. Now i mean no one should be clay. And and that's that's the point that i think that gets neglected in this whole conversation about you know about him about the season is at the seasons should not be happening. We have games cancelled games. Getting postponed players people who have lost their tire family to cove it. Like karl anthony. Towns now have coat and we have no idea what the long term effects are going to be. I mean there's all this talk about whether athletes into shape and whatever and it's like that is actually the reason why they should not be playing because these are people whose bodies are these two instruments in if something is off a little bit. You know like i could deal with you know. I hope it ellie fitness. You know three three times a week back when we were outside punish because of the pandemic but i could deal with you know okay my long. My my one long isn't working. What's before or or my blood pressure. The little high or something like that but someone who has to play two games against you know the best athletes in world doesn't have those same sort of you know doesn't have those same considerations and so i think the larger issue you know with tyree is that he is reacting away that any normal non athlete person would because what we do know is that he was upset about what was happening in washington the white supremacist direction. Or whatever in so that happens in his best friend on the team misses a whole week because of the covid protocol or whatever in i could see that affecting a person i mean it's not i know carry has near desert narrative carribean crazy. Kooky cadre is actually the normal way to react to all this shit. That's happening around him right. The only sane man in a crazy world is what you're saying you know and carey doesn't do himself any favors you know. In i as a person who who who leases property on carry allen frustrated as a fan because he is actually was actually having his best season in if satistics in the seven games that he's played he was the best point guard in the nba this year. Averaging twenty seven seven and six Hasn't missed a foul shot yet. This year is shooting forty from three fifty front of foulland. Real-time plus minus. I think he was thirty. Entire league in so a frustrating thing with being you know a fan of his basketball game is at all the other shit. That's around his court activity into obscuring it in so you just want people to focus on a basketball and you can't because he is not playing basketball a agree that on the whole that like playing basketball under these circumstances it this time when our country it largely seems to be irresponsible. But that's a decision that like all these professional sports leagues and athletes have made and they're not going to miss any games because they can't afford to miss any money so yeah kyrie is very high up in the union they have a cba. He decided he wanted to play. They want to be out there. They need to be out there like the money. They need to make money if they at the nba doesn't play. It's a huge problem. So i mean i while i sympathize with kyrie man. A lot of those guys need that money they need to be out there and plus career only lasts alone like you only have so much time to capitalize and play while you're capable of doing it so getting out there and playing is an important thing but i think.

"As the NBA going to provide that to me is somebody who's not taking the bubble seriously hands where the here's what I was go ahead. Because I talked to somebody close to Cairo. Somebody who was on the call and you know I've talked to players on the executive committee. And I've gotten a whole different story. They told me as you said Kyrie. Was Silent on the phone for the most part. And what I'm told is that he's new to the executive committee. A. He was just kind of going with the flow. He was just you know he didn't WanNa. Come in and start trying to Stan and saying all these things where he's new to the committee. And after the vote, so he kind of just kept silent on a vote after vote, he starts getting texts calls from players around the League I'm sure he probably reached out guys as well and they were saying. Look out now. We're playing where we. We didn't get the way we did. Get the vote. We didn't get to have our say. What was the vote twenty one or twenty twenty eight zero something like that right one of those and so Kyri being a member of the executive committee, being a VP of the union. started feeling like okay guys should have their say. And so we set up this call and I'm told. I was told by member of the Executive Committee that. They have no problem with what Kyri is doing that. They encouraged Kyri. They told him look speak your mind. We, that's why we want on the committee. We don't want everybody agree, and we want different viewpoints, so say what you WanNa, say Chris Paul was on the call. Now hold on, let me interrupt. You know who wasn't on the call Lebron now that is a question. We don't have an answer as to invited to the call heating it okay, roasted. The League wasn't on the call. Lebron! James, we're talking about the. NBA Is. He didn't want to be on the call. I mean that's. Okay it was eighty people. He was invited every part as far as I know every player in the League was invited. And Eighty? Some odd showed up and Kyrie. Just said his piece I. Don't think we should play. I. Don't WanNa play. I WANNA fight Social Cabbie. Ryan play, but he was not trying to convince everybody. He was this share his viewpoint. And other players shared his same feelings as well, but at toward the end of the call. He's look whatever y'all WanNa do. I'm on board with so I. Think this notion that Kyrie's trying to start a mutiny. They Kyrie's trying to keep Lebron from winning. A championship is ridiculous. Is Garbage. False, okay I agree Kyri has gone I mean because of some of the things he said and done in the past. He doesn't have much credibility with people none he's not a leader. He's not a leader of men on the bought Celtic. To make a stand against systemic racist game, we can all. Get. Argue yeah. WE'RE IN AGREEMENT SYSTEMIC RACISM. Yes, let's do something, but let's propose ideas on how we're going to his night. Own Advocate. Going to the here's the deal they are. They do have ideas. Avery Bradley. Has Idea White. Howard has ideas I like that. Give me more ideas, don't. Support. And now and what happened after it came out Jason Nick would carry it, said with Avery Bradley Dwight Howard. It's it what happened. What the NBA do. All of a sudden, Adam silver releases a statement. Say A WE ARE WHEN WE'RE IN ORLANDO. We are going to have an action plan. Good or fight systemic racism to help educational and Economic Opportunities for African Americans to make generational change. I wasn't hearing that before. These guys spoke out about maybe not play. Again. That's a great statement. I'm with that. I've I heard from one player. WHO said listen Jay we could do something where every single day were in the bubble and meeting the media. We are talking about someone who was killed by a police officer. We could mention Brianna Taylor on Monday. It's all we're going to talk about Brianna Taylor, and then Tuesday the juggler. Who was? Was Killed in Georgia, and they go on the next day, and I'm all for that I'm like that, but you said in the bubble. Adam silver's said in the bubble will do this Kyrie irving is on record I. Don't want us to play, and then you take it to the next step, and you say well wait a sec. Why don't we start our own league now? Listen Kyrie Irving, we know is not a leader of men. This game seven. When he was on the Celtics, he was injured. He didn't even show up in the arena to sit on the bench game. Seven Celtics Verse cavs okay. Lebron wins on the Road Kyrie Irving was not even in the arena. Go look up the quotes from Danny. AINGE afterward he had to kind of joke about Kyrie not being there because he was so upset. Okay to me, Kyrie Irving is not a leader of men and I. Just don't like anybody say that doesn't mean. He can't ruminate where he. He talked about starting to League and they can't start a league. Talked about starting to League every lockout. It is incredibly difficult and impossible to starter league very quickly. That's GONNA. Get you anywhere near the money. You make an NBA so that's the nonstarter. But for Kyri to be on the text or a chat with his teammates, ever him to ruminate about. That s his perogative. As his. Wonderful Kevin Durant thinking right Kevin Durant hasn't responded to my g messages lately because I've been hammering, we'll. Has He. He responded to Perkins. Did you see that well? Yeah, injured is for me. Caught him assess out. Kevin durant her capacity, be wondering or K. Dan. What did I get myself into with Cairo? Let's we know career. Press Valerie's back. We'll look here's another thing too and I. I don't know if you've heard this. There are people within the league whether they're players, executives agents with it might not be true, but I've heard from a number of people that just think. Kyri. Don't really WANNA. Play basketball. Forget to injury just just. He might retire early. Dead into it. They just think he's that kind of Guy Yeah. If you go look now. An! INSTAGRAM. NBA But. That's how guys feel. ooh. That's our. Some guys feel probably not most people, but some guys around the League feel that way, and so I think that also hurts his credibility. When you say I'm willing to give it all up, guys, thing well you. You Not really don't really WanNa play that much anyway, but that's neither here, nor there let me ask you this. Let me ask you. If Kyrie was healthy and Katie was healthy. This was next year and the nets are the number. Two seed in the East is kyrie irving saying I. Don't advocate going to the bubble I'll give it all up. Is he doing that if they're in position? I mean I. DON'T WANNA call conclusion, but I mean this guy come on I think it just doesn't. It? Rings hollow a little bit for me and again I should add this Chris. You'd like to make fun of me for wearing jerseys to the grocery store to the beach I bought a games and two games, I. Wear to the grocery store and the beef you do not. Just a magic that was it I was in the stands Los, Angeles Lakers Shirt underneath it. Down out anyways for short in full uniform stop stop it. I was in the. Taste, Saab. Says when? A person like that. It says he couldn't who okay good news. Anyway so.

Hope you in the family are well in on the east coast. Yes, we are good man. We are good and haven't seen you in a long time, man. March as soon as cova. Da, you were just. My way here. You know anyway to break. Take my mom home, but it just worked out I, just stayed. Yeah, you know, and and that's how it is, but it's all good know I've been doing man I'm just I may be more busy or busier now. It's a different kind of busy right. Man Look I'm doing first things first every morning. The I'm doing some of the other shows two or three days a week to hurts undisputed back I'm back. It was speak for yourself. Go for the first time in like two years and we allowed to talk. Probably said they said it Oughta. Show with a Cold War is over. How Nice so one down call so your boy was back. Like ten more guys to go. I guess so, but I've been doing that, and then you know of course at night. We have the the couple, so yeah, and then doing a lot of social media for for Fox. Digital Yeah I've been busy man. Yeah, and you know. Luckily you don't have the little kids at home to bother you very long. It's so funny. I I mean. If you guys follow me on Instagram, you know my kids I I was the P. E. Teacher for them. The wife did the school work with them, and like every day I'd have to take a break in the afternoon and we'd like. Start doing box. Box Jumps or somehow a push-ups and sit-ups, their first grade and third grade, so you really trying to make them athletes I'm trying to keep them active Chris, because we got I went down to the Super Bowl I got some swag, and I got an xbox and we. We held on off on opening it and finally. I was like you know what we're. GonNa be home a lot, so we opened the XBOX. My kids playing a lot of two K., and I gotTA help him out. It's a lot of fun, but I don't want them sitting around moving on digital devices, you know. They're doing the zooms with class and that's the tough part, so I had taken about cyber shooting hoops. We got jump ropes. We got bikes I. Mean Your kids our oldest. You don't have to worry but Nah. Twenty two. They're here, so that's nice night I'll have to worry about I can't imagine having to work fulltime and home school. Yeah, who it was challenging. My wife's a monster. She just tore through. It dominated crushed it and I observed and helped, and then try to not lose my mind with. Sports being gone. I mean Chris if Major League Baseball doesn't get it together and your boy. Kyrie irving doesn't try to wreck. The NBA and Cova doesn't ruin football I these next three months. Man I'm starting to get a little bit nervous starting to play. My mind is playing tricks on me. Oh? Tie Shirt. He find a little drop That's a great jam, yeah? All right, let's get to. You mentioned Kyrie Irving. and. My sentiments have been shared on this show, but I was shared them again, but I wanna hear from you. First Robin are on the same page about Kyrie, but you. From what word is I? Heard it through the grapevine that you've been going on Kendrick, Perkins. Love so so does that. Story really broke Friday night. Which is great? I have the Saturday morning show on Fox, so I'm like the first guy to weigh in, and I started teeing off on him instantly on social media. You know out here in La. Go to some Laker. Games I've started to text the players I you know I'm just starting to get more plugged in the NBA community with trainers and a lot of people who are around the League and They're like Yo Kyrie trying to derail this and you read the story from woge and I had wool on my show. Saturday and everything just summed up in I. Just thought Kyrie Irving was doing a disservice to the NBA and I. Think some of it is rooted in jealousy that he will not be at the bubble right? The Brooklyn Nets are like Yo. Cairo only get thirty five spots. We need scouts. We need trainers. We need everything you're not coming and I think Kyra was a little jealous of that I. think There's a little. Enmity between him and Lebron dating back to him demanding A. TRADE OUT OF CLEVELAND Maker! His I. Don't know about that. I don't WanNa. Apologize and all of that and I instantly. Chris started to hear from a lot of people. Oh, you don't support the black community and I blacked out my twitter Avi. To a couple of weeks back. With, what's going on in this country, my kids we went to a protest in our town out here in La and a lot of people see my name, Chris and think Oh Jason McIntyre. White Guy, so virus dude, bring you tell them tell them what time. And Chris Listen. You know people. No I mean I think you know Chris and I knew each other briefly way back when I was at a newspaper, and he was it like the New York Times and he was a nice guy, and I always respected Chris. And then he came out here to La and we start talking Chris. Usually when I meet somebody, they wait a year to be like so so, what's your background? Jason and Chris was like upfront pretty quick. So, what's your this city? You know like Chris is going to call it like he sees it. I respect that a lot. And I said well. I'm mixed. I did the twenty three and me and I broke it down thirty seven percent European, thirty, three percent, black, twenty, five percent Indian, and I came out, and you know I told you that and you're like Whoa. And I'll never forget what you said next well, if you got one percent black, you black and I. I laughed about that and. I grow. You got way more than one percent. American standards, your black, one hundred percent and I listened. Ultimately I mixed with a lot of stuff. A lot of people say WHOA. He's got a lot going on there and you know some people think I don't have the sentiment that hey, man. We gotTA look out for systemic racism, and that's total garbage, and I respect Kyrie and Avery Bradley all them for what they're doing. I had CARAMBA Butler on my show I know Matt Barnes. I've worked with him. Listen. A lot of guys are doing a lot of good things right now. This country needs it and I know. Know You, you hammer away at this and do a great job outside the sports media but I just think Kyri went about it the wrong way, and per I am looking forward to hearing what you gotTa say, but all I know is when I read the report that there was a call now it was two weeks ago and Kyrie Irving piped up and said you know. Can I use the sauna for my rehab and I'm curious what. Beverages.

"I think the best case scenario he might be better than deal in the sense that he's an elite defensive player, and again, and you're talking about Miami's culture in what they hold the values that they hold true. He exemplifies many of them now. Part of this I don't know if this has been reported in Atla. Part of this is don't think he's particularly excited about being in Indiana. This is a guy with off the court interests. And I don't know how Miami. Views things like that right like hey I, also WANNA sing. Okay, here's a basketball deepak music. Your work with. Like I mean. I, just can can put together for you, and you could be the next great booty artists of our time. There's a reason why Dwayne Wade. Song came after he retired. So. I don't care what you say that she had slept. Has and we took it a little bit of a break right now from our son Saga because there's so much news regarding the NBA and the resumption to play in the Kyrie Irving and we didn't even get into why he chimed in as Kyrie Irving, but it's probably better left unsaid. or I've seen so many different reverts reports. I've seen KB irving and I saw. It reported in the Athletic Kyrie. Irving is this. We need to get to the bottom of what this is. Maybe we don't. Maybe we're better surly getting to the bottom. Amino has we'll. We'll get back to the sun saga next week. I just wanted to talk some NBA Steph. I wanted to bring our our text exchanges. The life content out of it, so you know. has some things much waking up early in the morning. We'll talk to you next week. About. Patrick Beverley Oh my God. No..

"Threaten your job to be extra motivated. He did say he was already motivated by by the season. Look, here's what's working against it okay? so everything's about who you've worked with before. Hey, so folds comes in. He Works Nagy before. Bill Laser. WHO's your offensive coordinator before and John Depots a quarterback coach. He worked with in Philadelphia when he won the Super Bowl and then he was his offense coordinator Jacksonville. The thing working for is full is like the world's great. He's the opposite of Cam in that. He's totally cool with being a backup. Right if if that's what you want, you want to be a starter. Be started going back up FACA, so he'll have the complete support of. Foles is a really good coaching staff, the total knowledge of it. The problem is that the every lost confidence in him last year and I don't know if you can get it back. Simply by being motivated, because they brought in a guy who's won a super bowl life very simple. You just go out there and win the job. I, mean you you? You are if you are better. All those factors aren't gonNA matter. Like if he's that much convincingly better than Nick foles in at the beginning of the season, then all those connections and experiences a Nicole has with those guys are gonNA matter because then. They WANNA WIN Games. They all want to keep their jobs want bears to win, so that's going to be the number one. Factor in WHO's GONNA start or not? If? It's close I'm with you. That's what's going to happen because we've seen. Both of these guys play and we've seen Nick Foles, whatever obviously it's. Completely different, but they want a super bowl, so but he's has been here for. One hundred percent. I don't like either. I don't like either of the options to be honest with you I like Nick foles considerable more than most people do I just don't see it with ski and I I. Don't I. Don't love that you have to have your job threatened in order to be to be in the mode that you need to keep your job finally. Ravens fans pretty much. All NFL fans held their breath after video of the mark. Jackson, taking a scary fall surface this weekend, he was playing football on the beach and was. Running around dotting. Doing he collided the jet ski and fell into. The water is reportedly fine after the fall. Not Injured, but this was. That was scary. Public jet he can do with no one in the AFC. Which is tackled the Mark Jackson. This is look you have to. I remember Robert Edwards was young star running back to England Patriots Nineteen Ninety Eight, the pro bowl they had like a sand football game for rookies versus second year players. You planted his shredded. His name was never the same and. Anybody knows the history of football is like dude. Somebody's gotTA. Tell Lamar like he. Just thankfully, he's okay. Yeah, but you gotta be smarter. This is Ben Rothlisberger showed up with a motorcycle. Every is like dude. What are you doing with motorcycle? No helmet refine. The motorcycle is a bit more extreme than. Light football on the beach I don't have a problem with him playing football on the beach You can't just not going to do any physical activity it's it's all fine. You just gotTa be. You've got to be a little careful. That's that's. Good. Football on the beaches gives everybody in the NFL TO EIB because the Robert Efforts, thing and like look dude. You'RE MADDEN NFL. MVP face of the Ravens. He's one of the faces of the League. Yes. Numbers you just. Look at each other with news. Well. That's the news and thanks for stopping. Heard lie. Let's get to the heard global satellite network and bring in. Of course works here rights for bleacher report. Buke, what are your sources telling you? The reaction was to Kyrie Irving questioning whether or not it was the right time to come back and play basketball. There was vern faction of players in the League. who were glad that that that conversation was being had that? They felt like they hadn't necessarily heard or had an opportunity to speak, but there was also a great deal of confusion because Kyrie Irving had the opportunity when this conversation I started about coming back. Express, questions about, should they be playing? And whether it was health, obviously the timing of this with the death of George Floyd and The rise in in the black lives, matter movement. Has has changed things. There's far more question about. Why is kyw Re doing this? And where does he really stand in part because he was on board with going and. Then was told that he wasn't going to be able to go. So this is much like. Look. I hate to draw the parallel, but it's a lot like Colin. Kaepernick nobody questions the 'cause. Nobody questions the intentions. But you can't separate the Messenger from the message, and when there's been confusion over what the Messenger intends in previous situations, it's going to muddy the waters, and this is just a subject for me. That is too important to have the the message money I agree with you, but also look at Lebron James and the fact that he organized an original call. To to get guys back to work and I feel like this is still Lebron's league, and then you look at what Patrick Beverley tweeted, which is. Hey with bronze plan were hoop, and that's you know we're. We're still in it for the cause for the right reasons, but. It does feel like though there, though not everyone is down with Lebron in terms of wanting to play with him, he does kind of lead the League does he not? Without question and that leads to another. If I. DON'T Theory Conspiracy Theory? However, you want to phrase it, but we know the relationship the. Contentious Relationship Times between Lebron and Kyrie. The Cairo is wanted to be seen as being on Lebron's level so. Is it possible that. KYRI is raising this simply to be the alternative to Lebron James and Lebron James's position and the ability to say well hold on. Lebron. They have decided this, but this is what I have to say. This is where I'd like to go with. It understood that it's only a theory, but the truth of the matter is Kyrie's reputation precedes him, and you can't separate the two look I'm not even sure if Lebron with Lebron took the stance that Kyri was taking. I'm it would be more powerful for sure, but I don't know that his. Stand on things because he hasn't necessarily been consistent or he hasn't been clear that that would be the guy that I would want leading the charge either and got me to thinking like who would. Who from the NBA would I lean in and listen? To if they said you know what, I'm not so sure, it's a good idea that we come back and play. And there are a couple guys who's at Steph. Curry is one Damian Lillard is another victor. All a depot is a third. Mike Conley. And for me I would listen to draymond green because you may have. He may have been contentious, and he may be controversial, but he's always been.

"Weekdays at noon eastern nine am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio One and the iheartradio APP. This weekend NASCAR returns to Talladega I on Saturday. It's xfinity series racing at five thirty. Eastern on F S One then Sunday on Fox catch I go five hundred at three eastern races are also on the Fox sports APP. Kamara at the ratio over the weekend it was pretty cool, Talladega. So. There's limited number of fans at Talladega. This is the opportunities on Fox. Out of no I mean. I've never been new NASCAR race. Truck race before and like it in Daytona yet very fun. I'm going to I love going to sporting events like a like a baseball game in the middle summers like tobacco fine. The Ba- the baseball is for summer. It's great and you can take your kids, and you don't feel like you know, and you can have a conversation sometimes maybe to comedy. You missed some of the game. Whatever but it. It's a great time which brings us to Major League Baseball. We're at a really weird spot. K Clark is a former player. By the way he's a hooper at universities, owners was baseball player and a good one, and now he's the head of the the Players Association. and. They've basically said like look. We're not gonNA. Go back and forth anymore. We're dumb with counter-proposals. Rob Manfred has the power as the commissioner to tell us what the schedule is, and we'll figure it out and we'll show up. We're done negotiating. But. We've heard this so many times before. We're not going to have a counterproposal. But here's a proposal which runs counter what the owners are proposing, and then the owners wouldn't have a counterproposal, but they would have their own proposal which runs counter. The. Let me, let me just say something that I think we all need to say. And you and I both like Major League. Baseball I actually love Major League Baseball. There's there's no greater disparity in terms of. Level of intensity than regular season, baseball and postseason baseball. It's awesome, but the two are are great and unique into themselves right for the summer. Baseball just works you go. You have a beer with friends. You have a conversation. You Watch a baseball game you catch up. You're at a nice park. The park is usually they create them, so they feel like you're in the olden days like all that stuff works. And then you get to the postseason and everything's tencent important in every pitch matters right. I think the to actually work together quite well, so this isn't. Guide telling you baseball. As matter. But I've been told for. The last decade baseball guy. Hey Man wash more baseball. Well. You know what you got an opportunity. Nothing else really on sure we can talk NASCAR. We Tell Golf Golf is fun this weekend. Especially, the players miked up, but in terms of major sports baseball is kicking away a great opportunity. Do the owners have a point that they're losing money? With every time they have a game when there's no fans in the stands, and they have to pay any sort of salary, perata otherwise sure that's a valid point. What hurts their point is they just signed a deal with? Just or at least was announced. was leaked. There's a deal with Turner. Sports for part of the postseason package and part of the regular GonNa make over four hundred fifty million dollars per year right so baseball's doing pretty well. Do the players have a point like yeah. They agreed to a deal and now the owners like you gotta take a bigger haircut. That kind of stinks. Now the Chevy pointed out that the owners as part of that deal had three different things that had to happen. You had to have free travel here and into Canada. There had to be no sort of safety measures that had to be taken. And that had to be fans in the stands, and all three of those have been met, so there's some fine print that have the owners can change. The deal can rework it like both sides have a point, but you know we don't care. No one cares anymore baseball. We just don't care. They've already decided. The safety concerns have been alleviated. Korea's been playing baseball for. A month and a half now, right? My Poor Guy Boop shabby. Middle of the Night Broadcasting Games or whatever? Just play baseball. Like if it's not about safety, and it's only about money I understand money is important. But. I've been told for talk, about baseball I can't. Because other things are going on which. Bigger drawing cards and people care more you. WanNa make us care. Go play. I'm to the to the owners. You have a point you put out all that money. You're losing money every time you open up your doors, I get it i. get it the long term play. You'RE GONNA. Make money you just WANNA get back. To the to the players themselves I also understand there's a collective bargaining agreement that's going to expire at the end and the next season, and you don't want to lose now and then lose I i. hear you. But In this age of listening. I'm done listening to baseball done. You should be playing fourth of July. You want to be Americana you WanNa be with you know you were the sport that brought us back from nine eleven. You found a way to make it work. Then during the scariest time I can remember my life on earth. If you can do it then you can figure it out. You you absolutely a four July's too soon. No, it's not. No it's not. Okay so pitchers, only an ending or two innings, or whatever go play baseball. Make US remember. Because what I was told was last night there was a thirty for thirty with mcgwire and Sosa and they didn't talk steroids until the very end of it and made. It seem like that wasn't. That's the whole story, but it's not a documentary that some TV show. It's a propaganda piece you WANNA. Make US watch. You and they're great young players in baseball great, but I can't appreciate them, because he her nickel in dominate the death. Just play. Baseball nowhere. You're football basketball. Baseball still does really really well, and it's going to do well, but you know what if you want us to care play? And if you don't please, stop arguing in public because we just. I think we're all done. We're just we're done his joy Taylor with the news. No heard on the news. This is the headline news. Is Continuing to post workout. Videos proved that he's healthy and ready to play. He's got another elite player helping him out now. Camera Dot with back home this weekend. Showcase the duo storing session on his social media accounts. They are obviously at UCLA. You can see the Ucla banners around the stadium which you mentioned earlier. Right yes, UCLA has a beautiful campus in great great facilities, athletic facilities I feel like Cam Newton is a place now where he can't win for trying. Like you feel this is kind of useless and not really helping his cause, because it's still social media and obviously very highly produced. It looks great. It's got a song to it. Calling complete disagrees. He thinks it's great. He thinks he should only post workout videos. He wants to see him working out. He wants to see him throwing. He wants to see this every single day. I personally don't like. I don't need proof that you are working out if you're an athlete I, don't need to see you. Post your lunch to understand the two eight today. Right like this. This is what athletes do they work out every single day now if you WANNA post gobbles great. Whatever you want. Completely irrelevant to me if you don't post workout videos and posts, pictures of your garden I'm not going to think that you don't work out I'm sure to you really into gardening and that's what you want your social media brand to be. Completely, irrelevant to me, you know that Cam. Newton has been working out. Cam is a specimen, and he's coming back from injury and he wants to.

"In the Messenger so flaws in the message. This is Chris are talking about Kyrie Irving. And what some people around the NBA. Them, There are some around the league. The maybe you've heard it as well that feel like rigid doesn't really WANNA play like he's questioning going forward. That's I've heard that for a while. I don't think he. I think he will play, but there are those who just wonder how much he really wants to play in the future. And that's a good question, and that's one of those the description that you get you get football and you get in basketball is. Does he love basketball? And it's interesting because Kyrie irving by my estimation is. Has the best. Finishing shots in the NBA. What what he? Rod Strickland Says Godfather Rod Strickland was the best we had had for fifteen twenty years and Kyrie Irvings, probably a better version of it I in no way is, it meant to disparage Kyrie? irvings talent because he is and you don't. You. Don't just magically have the ability to finish shots around the basket. That is hours upon hours upon hours of work in a gym that just. That's the only way you develop the ability with either hand to make these off angle shots. It's really amazing how much work he has to put in and how much thought he asked to immediately be able to realize to get these shots off and to make him like he has a supreme amount of creativity. But but does he actually like basketball? Look over the weekend. Saturday night than today's do run together. Right? Think Saturday night. Where some of these quotes came out. And one of his coach was basically like that. You know he's willing to give it all up. And I tweeted out saying like look. Pat Tillman gave it all up I. Now some people took this extra step in and I know there's a difference between giving it all up and ultimate sacrifice, and if you don't understand the to look up with ultimate sacrifice, means that translates into dying for your cause or dying for your country, which is unfortunate. What happened to Pat? Tillman? That wasn't what I said. It wasn't what I meant. What I simply meant was Pat Tillman had a contract to play in the NFL, and he chose to leave that and go and pursue something that he thought was for the greater good and I. Just don't carry. Is that guy? Is that me questioning like his moral code? No, it's more. I've seen this from Kyri. I've seen the he. He almost feels like the guy and I see it because I see a little bit myself. Where no matter what your argument is, he can find the counter argument to it. You look up at the sky and it's clearly blue and he can say that's a great sky. No, it's a grey sky. Your perspective is wrong. Maybe it's your is. Maybe it's the way the color translates right. That's a grey sky. That's WHO Kyrie Irving is. Yes, he offers counter thought, and yes, in this age of what we are we, we are being told and. Frankly! It's right. We should listen more to one another right. Maybe, it is grey. What do you think? But at some point you realize this guy is in fact blue. At some point, you realize that. That that that the idea of not going back to work, because it will somehow disrupt the push towards social justice, I I believe and most people believe is while it's thought the best way to achieve what you want is to get as much attention as possible towards your cause, and you'll get more attention if you're playing on national TV. Kyrie won't because he's not playing. I do think that a big part of the message getting lost is the Messenger. I think that's what happened with Colin Kaepernick. That's what happened. His message has finally started to be received more by sorry for the mainstream. But he was such a flawed messenger, he did have the pig socks. He didn't have the Castro. Castro shirt he did go to Seattle, and he did have an interview with the Seahawks, but he did tell them he wanted to be a starter and when they have. Russell Wilson the only thing they want to hear if you're coming in as backup is hey, I'm just coming into. Learn just want to get better. And now he there was the. The girlfriend who had the mean about CBA shoddy a place where he rightfully smartly would've been picked up because Greg. Roman is offense coordinator. was there like sometimes the the mess of flaws in the Messenger do cloud the message. and. I'm trying as hard as I can to to really really listen to Kyrie's message 'cause I do think that Kyrie as bright as he is and as talented as he is, he's a confusing messenger. Because the messages do have a tendency to change week to week all right this week. Harry wants to play next week. He doesn't WANNA play. which is. Just to put a little bow on the Pat Tillman tweet. My my thought is this I know Jim Brown walked away from the NFL. Obviously Muhammad Ali. Because of his religious beliefs and didn't want to go to war. He walked away from boxing for three years. In the modern era of sports. Pat Tillman's the only guy can think of that walked away for a 'cause he believed in. You know and I just. Kyrie's been a guy who would not surprise me if he left the NBA earlier. We didn't play until he's forty years old. I think that when Kyrie if he can get run towards the NBA finals. If he wins, the championship would not be crazy to see him walk away. But look man. You're the same guy who convinced Kevin Durant to come on over from Golden State because you could build something special. Do I really believe that? In this time of social justice awareness, you're going to leave a huge platform in the biggest city in our country and great opportunities. For this 'cause when a week ago, all you want to know was would be booze there. No I don't believe. I. Don't believe it, and it's not because I don't think you believe in the cause i. just think he's a guy who's changed his mind so often. That crazy to think of. I mean I I don't. Again Chris also said that he's if we're just talking about covert or just talking about. Health reasons or scientific reasons why we couldn't go back. Maybe Kyrie's not the most qualified, but he's certainly qualified to speak on on this topic and. The 'cause it's. It's not just a 'cause. It's a lifelong experience. It's your parents experiences your grandparents. Experience Your family, your friends. Your children is not like. It's not a choice. It's not so almost to say it's a cause is a cause for anyone who is. That's not their experience, so he's qualified to speak on every capacity so the idea that it's Kyri and He could change his mind or something like that like he just simply raised the concern. Sometimes headlines start to become a story of their own especially in a time right now where we don't have sports, so every headline becomes bigger. From the sound of the call, he just had this conversation with other players right like. Is it a good idea to go back? I don't feel comfortable with what's going on there and he's not the only player while Kyrie may not necessarily want to come back, and that's the macro part of the situation. There are other players in that call who clearly agree with Kyrie who are not thinking about ending their. Their basketball careers like there's a there's an overall anxiety about what's happening in Orlando and I think that's fair, and if I was a player I would be concerned about for multiple reasons and the idea that sports are going to distract from what's happening right now is a legitimate concern. I don't agree with it because I. think that having a platform is powerful and also having a platform that isn't necessarily. An Echo. Chamber where you have to force people like they must hear what you have to say because they want.

"Lovely and talented Taylor alongside joy. How you great, how are you? I'm good I'm good. It is weird. It is still weird. Engine. On Sunday. And only have dolphin right that was. SUPPOSED TO BE NBA Finals Right Right There's a lot. Going on right now. Yeah, there is but the NBA is is interesting because the League which. I think anyone would deem to be the most progressive of the major and even maybe minor professional sports leagues. Is the one who over the weekend there was some pushback as to the Orlando bubble plan. Get to that should point out to you that. Eric Mangini joined the show Chris Bruce. Arnold joined the show ric. Bucher joined the show. I have I have this, Todd. Have the software you on baseball a point. That I have reached on baseball that in one hour we will share with you. Which I think speaks to all of US collectively on Major League Baseball. We'll get to that, but but let's start with the fact that no matter what else you think. About the NBA. About who the best player is but who the team to beat is. The voice deface the leader of the League. Is. Lebron James and I point that out because over the weekend. We're actually on a Friday night, and can you just like sometimes? You GotTa understand the day in time in which you pick it but Friday night. There's a phone call. Apparently, eighty players, some wnba players who wnba is going to have a season. They're going to get full compensation. It's going to be in Bradenton Florida. I understand they're kind of collectively bonding together, I I do think though that, too. Many voices in perspectives at times are a bit too much for this particular discussion, there's eighty players on a call and one of the dissenting voices as the Orlando bubble plan was under then Kyrie Irving. Now it should be pointed out that. Luke Kyrie Irving does have this. Have this in weird ability? Weird ability to generate a reaction, not based upon always what he says, but some of the things he has previously said or the thought that there are some of the things well. The only reason carry wouldn't wanNA play his. He doesn't want Lebron to get another championship. Career carries the badge of being a flat earth, or which I don't actually think. Is What Kyrie Irving is. Kyrie irvings flat. Earth Philosophy is more challenging conventional wisdom, right? Don't always just believe what you what you've always been taught because you've always been taught it and he uses being a flatter as an example. The problem with that is it goes directly in the face of science. And arguing to the rest of the world something we know to be a scientific provable. Fact isn't a scientific provable fact does cause anything else he say says to I'm having roller is. But when Kyrie Irving says hey look. Is it possible that playing this season in Orlando in a bubble which takes all of these talented men away from their homes. And PUTS THEM ON TV in an empty arena playing basketball does that distract us us as a country us as a as a league? From. What's most important long-term? which is this push for social for for? Ford for Justice for equality. For the things that we want to see. Happen as a country in this time of of change. So. Here's what I WANNA to do, and this is really important. Look I'm not gonNA. Shoot the Messenger. Out that Kyrie Irving is the same guy who apparently the week before on a similar call offered no sort of pushback on the Orlando Plan and simply WanNa. Know with booze down there. It's the same Kyrie. Irving who's not even gonNA play in Orlando. Wait, you don't want us to go on a trip and decided champion, even though you're not actually going to play, and beyond the trip and decided champion that that strikes me as odd DUnno look. What, what so many Americans not just minorities gay, but people who there are others that are disenfranchised and you had all these gay pride parades yesterday across the country. All black lives matter changing the black lives matter for a day. We're seeing change and progress, but in this particular form. Hey, we want to be heard. That's it. That's what black people have been telling white people. It's like listen. You have to understand your perspective is in our perspective, because you don't live in our world in our skin on a daily basis. You don't know what it is like. Let me explain to you what it is like. We're being told listen, so you know what? I think it's a good plan. Let's listen. Let's listen to what Kyrie Irving saying does. He have flaws as a messenger shore course? He does Cabernet as a messenger. Boy about message. Is there some validity to the idea that if we're really all in for the cause of changing things, why get distracted and go back to work and play basketball? Now my personal perspective again I'm a white former basketball player I don't know what it's like to be a black basketball player, especially one that has the type of wealth and influence that NBA player especially superstars like career in the brain and others have, but my personal perspective is especially working in the media. Don't you have a greater platform when you're playing six nights a week on national TV, across multiple platforms and multiple networks. Yes, you could dedicate yourself. You could dedicate your life to trying to change the world. But? Couldn't you also do that while playing in the NBA? The perfect example is Lebron James. Lebron James who has been a champion for social justice going back years, the Bron, James, who has fostered change in the school system in Akron Lebron James as part of a coalition of star athletes, trying to bring about change and pushing people towards voting, and you know what. Lebron James can say that every time he has a post game interview or Inbetween interview or no matter what network he's on. If you're playing in Orlando and you're one of the select few media members who gets to interview Lebron James. It's Lebron score if he wants to push people to vote if he wants to push for continued awareness of social justice reform. Right like my perspective is. I think it's an ill-thought-out strategy, but it's really really to me. An important case study in our we actually listening. Because if you watch enough, you do realize that I no matter what argument you're making. There's a lot of still shouting going on. There's more listening maybe not enough. So, why don't we use this Kyrie Irving argument? Hey if you're if we really want to have social justice. Social Justice reform then being distracted by playing basketball, and going back to work and being on TV, that that will cause people to not watch these protests not pay attention to so many of these videos, and not pay attention to what's going on, not just needed cities, but in the suburbs and the chains that were trying to have take place. I'm willing to listen. I don't agree with the argument. But again the exercise and the importance of this time is to not think you have all the answers instead. Listen to other people's perspective who do not share your own. Background your own viewpoints your own perspective. Joy Let me, ask you. When you ice cube tweeted about it. Dwight Howard also was in support of Kyrie Irving. Do you think? Is it a when you hear what Kyrie says?.

"Have to be the most inventive team in the league. They have to be because they saw. It wasn't good enough and in the middle of the season they just said I Russell B our center and he's been super efficient and they've been good as well. Yep Thirty nine twenty one six straight how about? They invented a way for them to win themselves. The title though there it is okay so getting back to what you were doing in the last segment where you were making Theocracy win a title this year to prove himself to you got to win one. Okay I understand but this is what just happened. Okay I want you to understand that you who doesn't care about being consistent at all and I understand that you want to do this with just titles but if winning is indeed the measurement that your going to use to measure these people Siaka is presently having a season that Kyrie Irving has never had as a number one like this is the we have only seen kyrie irving do nothing lose and foul up the Celtics as a number one so using your measurement of winning is the only thing matter. Siachen is presently having a season. Kyrie Irving has never had kyrie irving is a career loser. When he's a number one right well he was a number one on some really bad cavalier team. He was Oh talent around. Was the number one on a good Boston team. So good boy any nuked and they went to the Eastern Conference Finals. Without Kyrie Irving. So that's fair Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum and those guys with guys that took them to that. Isa Guard pilots. A fair point this holy fair windhorst says okay. Windhorst is answering the question. I'm asking him how much better is Kyrie? Irving is a player then Siachen and his response is that it is a simple question with a complicated answer. Siachen plays at both ends and can defend multiple positions. He's much more valuable than Kyrie in that way. He's also low maintenance in the locker room not an offensive superstar. Kyri as a spectacular offensive talent. Who can win you games? But his fragile and also poor on Defense. Neither one is the number one most teams would love to have either. So it's not as much of a difference as it would appear to not be as much of a difference as you think it's reputation it's winning a championship if you ask Lebron Right now. It's just a purely hypothetical world. Just hey you could have. Crm OR KYRI. Irving one hundred percent healthy for the playoff run. Who Do you think he choose? Probably Kyri right. We're also looking at it right now. Or Kyrie's stock on the heels of the boss and stuff and him being hurt yet again and no one. Generally liking his attitude is stock is pretty much kinda like at an all time. Whoa whereas you look back when he was number two winning a championship Siachen for as good as he was. I'd say lowery was probably number two in that NBA finals series despite not really ever being a good playoff player before that. So who's a better number two on the championship team easily? Kyrie Irving because he was the number two and he made the biggest shot or one of the biggest shots in NBA history again. Put this on the poll. More annoying phrase having said that or I will say this because Jeff Van Gundy loves I will say this instead of just saying it and we just heard you said that so. I don't need you to tell me that You're you have said it. I think it's listen. Thanks Mike biggest verbal CROTCH is. Listen I will say this because I don't WanNa hear you say that basically. I want to hear what you have to say. I don't Care Okay. Very good so you don't. WanNa talk to anybody is you're you don't want anyone to say anything. I want. Anybody talking came very very good. Weird Industry Joe's. You're actually a very active listener as someone who doesn't want anyone talking to you. There is no one who's listening more to the things happening on this show than you are. That's true I wanted to ask you guys this question because I don't know whether I know what I'm married to okay. I'm aware I stopped getting disappointed by students. I've lowered my expectations to a place where I just don't expect much from him. I've noticed that I mean okay. And so Crashing so there are opportunities that Stu gods has in his life as their every eighteen months. There are opportunities. That's authorized has in his life and usually requires an investment. Stu Gods wanted to talk about this on Friday. We had we went to the heat. Game had a great time with the Jimmy V. Winners who paid way too much money to hang out with us. But STU gods nuked my ability before the game to take these people to Pat Riley and Micky arison because of what? I'm about to tell you and it's okay. We did it at halftime. But STU GODS NUKED IT. I tried to make plans was to God's I'm like happy hour five o'clock on Friday and then we'll go to the heat game so I'm happy hour. Five o'clock Friday six o'clock comes around and like I'm on the golf course. Be there shortly. You did say closer to five thirty at one point. I did but you came closer to seven thirty. You arrive arrived in the area now. One of the things do God's his lived here so long that he doesn't know he's still doesn't know the difference between Miami Beach and downtown like he was lost. He thought I thought he was. He thought he was staying near well. This is what he said. I don't know what it is and. Espn was nice enough to put me up in a hotel because we were doing the Jimmy V. Night. Okay and I'm telling you I had no idea until I actually started driving to the hotel that the hotel was a downtown brickell right near the arena and no I couldn't get there from from the links to that hotel and then back to Dan for a nice little dinner before the heat game. I couldn't get there and back in time to time it out correctly because I have no idea how to navigate around the city. I don't okay. You've lived around here a long time. But how what level of Mad am? I allowed to be that a meeting that stugatz requested to discuss his life. He stood me up for two and a half hours and nuked our ability before the game to introduce the winners to these These important people. It should be nine on a ten scale considering. Gps on his. Were you waiting at the place for him? I mean I was there with my wife so it was fine but yes he. The only reason we were there was to to have this conversation with two. God I would say Ted of ten but I mean this is amazing. What's happened with Dan? Seventeen years in shrugged. Valerie asked me. She's like aren't you mad? I'm like it's it's the reason I chose not chosen Tequila because this is interesting because I was wondering Valerie had said that to you if he asked. Aren't you mad? I was wondering if she's asking. Where is it? It's weird to make a meeting with somebody and then you don't show up for two and a half hours? That's not normal. Human behavior is if it was a meeting at. Why was your wife? There was an important business meeting because I don't trust the Guy Achillo important catch..

"What's up open floor globe this Bengal with the Washington Post? I am joined on the other line by Michael Pena of espy nation. Now Michael I trust that you made it back home from Chicago. All Star weekend To New York City where you were greeted by just tremendous news from the Brooklyn Nets that Kyrie Irving is going to be undergoing season ending surgery on his shoulder capping one of the most forgettable years In recent memory for for a player for a franchise frankly for a city for region for state. All of it we can just wipe it off a map Michael. You're you're you know front and center Covering now next nets team on a regular basis. I'm curious what's your initial reaction to this news in this decision. I can't imagine you to surprise. But what's your big takeaway? And what do you think it means for? You know the long term future of the nets if anything I mean you hit it. You hit the nail on the head here. Just a total waste of a season for the Brooklyn Nets you know they come out of the summer with their arguably the biggest winner they get Kevin Durant but of course. He's coming off an Achilles tear. They get Kyrie irving both signed to Max level deals and of course the Andre Jordan. How could we forget? And you know Kerry was healthy for the start of the season comes in. He's scores fifty points in the debut against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a loss. And I mean just you know He. He tweaks his shoulder. Mrs A good chunk of the season mysterious circumstances. And it's just been really weird like every time it's fun to watch Kyrie Irving and personal. I'll just say that like right off the top and I go to a lot of the nets games at Barclays Center so from that perspective. It's a bummer. I was attending. I attended the fifty four point game against the Chicago Bulls a couple of weeks back. And it's just it's fun to watch him play. He does things that no one else can but like. This team's just going to go to the playoffs because It's really difficult for them to drop out at this point. And they're just GONNA get shellacked in the first round and there's just like no cohesion no momentum heading into next season whatsoever. It's just it's very blase and really dumb. Here's the thing Michael. There is no such thing as a gap year gap year is a false construct and what they were trying to pitch us. So it's a low pressure environment. Does it really matter for the Brooklyn Nets? They're just biding time until Kevin Durant comes back. That's not how it works in life on and off the court you're getting better or you're wasting time and the Brooklyn Nets wasted time. They got worse this season. There's no question about it there. Basketball Product got worse. Their team chemistry locker room got worse the reputation of their front office. Their coach Got Worse. Kyrie irvings questionable reputation across the board. Got Worse. He made it twenty games. You're saying it was fun to watch them play. I wouldn't even go that far. You know he did his thing every once in a while. Okay he made some highlight reel plays. It was not fun in any manner to Wash Brooklyn. That's when he was on the court this year not consistently and certainly. It's not fun to think about them or talk about them at this stage of their life cycle. I'm desperately nervous anxious. For what all this means for Kevin durant going forward. What kind of an environment is he going to be coming back to? I feel like the whole organization. Needs a juice cleanse this summer just like you know. Resetting however many buttons they can reset. They're probably going to have to flip some of the roster after the way this season went and like your college student. So you'RE GONNA take a gap year right. You might go abroad. You might do some incredible social justice service work you know changing communities finding yourself understanding what it means to be a human being having compassion to your fellow man and then you come back college and now you're just like you know so much more mature than your fellow freshman right or you could spend that gap year on your couch playing video games. Nothing but accumulating cheeto dust and coming back basically having just wasted a year of your life you can guess which of those two categories the Brooklyn Nets fell into Michael there in the second category. And I'll never forgive them. I feel like you're speaking to me with that. Video game analogy that was basically in real life. It's weird. It's really weird here. Just because like what do they do going into next season? They don't know they have. They barely have seen carousel various spencer. Dinwiddie and Kyrie play together You know it was impossible for them to see Kevin Durant with that nucleus but like now will a trade happen here to shake things up like are they just going to head into training camp with all those pieces. That don't really seem to fit all that well like. They weren't really able to fit those three together when they were all healthy in the brief sample size that they are all all were active. I just think it's kind of a mess And I didn't think this bed it's a mess. It's not kind of a mess Michael. Here's what I'm GonNa ask you. We've played this. Revisionism game Throughout the course of the season. Haywood the clippers undo the Paul George Trade Haywood the Rockets Undo the Russell Westbrook trade right like but I think we should be even more direct about it. Would the Brooklyn Nets undo their summer based on how this year with Kyrie Irving one in other words would they have dared Kevin Durant to go to the New York Knicks or to resign You know with the Golden State Warriors rather than going all in on this buddy-ball approach of Katie. Kyrie and De'andre Jordan. Would they have just said you? Know what Kyrie we know your star. We know you bring some things the table. We don't trust your health. It's been an ongoing issue. It was something that I wrote about when they signed him. It's a real risk that they had to take into account if they could hit the undo button on their summer. Would they do it or is that a reactionary take that that is? That's pretty hot right there now. I think I don't think it was ever possible to get K. D. Without Kyri. That seemed like a package deal going back to like last. December so now. I think if we're a package deal that's a good package right like you know if people are going to take me they're gonna get you vice versa. I mean that's a win here like this is a totally different type of situation. I mean this is a package. Where like you've got one great player? Yes he's a little bit of damage good with the injuries but the guy that you're packaging and with is not on that level right. I mean he is not necessarily contributing consistently an a leadership standpoint making your team as better standpoint culture standpoint winning in the playoffs as the main guy or one of the main guy standpoint since two thousand sixteen. He's not checking any of those boxes. That's a big ask to give that guy a long-term Max contract as part of a package deal. You Know I. I see what you're saying but if you're trying to win a title the path there is to get Kevin Durant. It doesn't really matter what comes with them. So and I I also think that yes kyrie irving is quite a malcontent in very mercurial and and polarizing and he was coming off just like one of the most nuclear seasons of all time with the Boston Celtics. And what happened there but you still got. You got to bite the bullet and sign them. If that's what it takes to get Kevin Durant. I just feel so much sympathy for these. Gm's if this is where we're at this is what you have to put up with two for the title building thing I mean what a complicated Messy profession that is. Can they do anything down the stretch that salvage this season like? Is there any way that they can look back on this campaign and be like well look? It was a lost year. Kyrie wasn't there. I mean there are basically stuck. I think at best in the seven seat in the Eastern Conference based on the gap. That means they're going to get swept in the first round almost certainly by either Milwaukee Toronto depending on whether they slide a little bit more What'S THE BEST CASE SCENARIO FOR REST OF THEIR SEASON. Win One game and pretend it's You know a a championship in the playoffs. I mean what are they got? I would say like Kessler Avert and Spencer dinwiddie play extremely. Well down the stretch yet. Maybe lead you to a game or two victory In the playoffs. And you know they boost trade value. That's that's really all. I see as a positive outcome here because yet the ceiling is very low without someone like Kyrie on the roster It's it's really depressing to be honest. Yeah I mean just for context Kyrie made more than one point five million dollars this season for every game that he played so when. We're looking at This business concept of Roi you know return on Investment Michael. That's what you call a money. Pit He's going UP TO THIRTY THREE MILLION NEXT YEAR. Thirty five the year after that thirty six point five year after that. I don't know man this idea of the undo button. I think about it. It wouldn't be opening shot. I don't care what you said. You think they would trade Kyrie Irving. Is that what you're saying? Well I'm not sure how much they could give him. I'm just saying if they could go back in time and like rethink their strategy. Similar to like the clippers idea. Like if you're the clippers. Would you go back in time like Dare Kawhi? Leonard to sign with the Lakers or the raptors rather than trading all those assets to get Paul George right like. Is there a way where you could have finagled those negotiations differently? Look we know you guys WanNa play together right. But this is buddy-ball it's not been proven to work. This isn't going to be a good enough partnership I like your vision and your your attempt to like put together a super team but Kevin you just picked the wrong guy. Come here be the man. Be The face of in New York. City will give you the Max contract but we want to spend that money in a different manner on a different player somewhere down the road. We'd rather have greater flexibility. You know would you. I just feel like they have tried to do that if they could have like. If they could undo it and go back they would have given more more consideration to that plan. Ben These are like we have to step back and look at these organizations. They're very you know they're smartly. Run in recent years but they are the Brooklyn Nets and they are the Los Angeles Clippers. So historically you just gotTa do whatever you gotTa do to get those stars in your building. Well they gotta do whatever they can to win. Fifty Games at right now. That's not looking great For this year or next year I'm out on them and I hope Kyrie Irving comes back with a different focus. With the different mentality with an entirely new character change You know it's like one of those TV dramas. That goes straight seasons. They just bring a new actor into play the character halfway through. I hope they do that. With Kyrie. Irving for Kevin Durant next season. And I think actually Paul George and Kyrie Irving it's A. It's an interesting comparison because Paul George. This year I came into the season with more pressure on him than any other player in the league because he's lost consistently in the first round of the playoffs because he's had some injury issues in health issues. This is the year he needs to get over the hawk. He had his big power to get out of Oklahoma City after having a previous medium sized power MOVE TO GET OUT OF INDIANA. And now it's about time to you know put up or shut up and I think he's one of the big stories down the stretch of the season. Can he stay healthy? And can't he perform in the playoffs to expectations and be part of a title team? I think almost all those same things can be said about Kyrie irving coming into next season. Yes of course his defenders are going to say he's got a ring already so he's proven himself you know sure he has right to a certain degree but this is a guy who's prime is wasting away before is year after year throws one year way in. Boston throws another year away in Brooklyn with the health problems. You don't get unlimited chances here at this high of a level especially when you're a guy who's a minus defender doesn't really make his teammates better so from that standpoint. I think that coming into next season I think he's going to have more pressure. Scrutiny and attention on him than any other superstar player. I think that if I'm taking anything away from this conversation it's that I'm I'm just so excited for next season at Barclay Center getting me very pumped up. I WANNA go on the street and sell season tickets to random people. Great Time in Brooklyn Right now. Well I hope that you're going to be getting like Chalupa coupons back or something because I don't think you're going to be getting a lot of money for those tickets if you're trying to sell them on the street. But I digress. That's probably enough of just angry. Carrier takes for now. I do hope that he's able to get back healthy of course Because I thought his presence was actually missed at all star weekend to And same thing with Kevin Durant Steph Curry. Obviously but you know that final you know eight minute. Stretch of the fourth quarter really could've used Kyri instead of Kemba US carry out there on the court. You know making things happen or Kyri instead of Kyle lowry and unfortunately we were not able to see that. Hopefully next year we'll be back to what we expect. And we've come to expect from Kyrie Irving. We got a message from call. It's a meditation APP. We talk about physical fitness a lot. But there's another side of.

"I didn't WanNa do not coach anymore or you wanted to go coach. So I think whenever these decisions are made like it's easy after the fact point to the root of it but there's a real compelling argument to be made of when you're at one of these five destination programs in college football that that job is better and actually has better security and you're right you. It's an unfair advantage when you're one of those brands and you're recruiting. We're there's times I think like look if you were not that I'm ever going to be in that situation but you do that thing like if it were me if it were me I'd have a hard time wanting to leave an amazing like just I absolute runaway Train Program College football and then yes sound like how many times has it actually worked right. Like P carrot. It worked but he was in the NFL. You you know I mean we were. Actually this is actually a real discussion yesterday. Between is that still to be. TVD Like we we just Kinda go go through it right. I mean even Jim even Jim Mora. He's actually not Jim Mora junior but jim or the other the little Jim Mora right I mean remember member. Who's coaching the Falcons? And he was like man if Washington just asks me even during a playoff run I would so much rather be there than be here and of of course he he he he got his wish And and just jump in though to think about some of the guys that we know that gone to the NFL. And then you'll talk to and be like the idea that I could sit here like send Valentines to eighteen year. Olds you know three sixty five and you just go like I can understand how that's nauseating like I don't want to sit here and tell every eighteen year old. He's the greatest thing ever. Yeah but you know at the bigger programs style. Yes you do you do and no. You don't WanNa go until these kids when when you know so many of them don't have a real L. A.. Chance of making the NFL on the other hand like look if you're not doing it to an eighteen year old. They're doing it to twenty four twenty five year old. Who feel full of you tell them? They're the greatest and then they go go to front the Front office and go. Hey everybody here's telling me I'm the greatest now you need to pay me like I'm the greatest So there is it your recruiting at any level. I I'm with you and in basketball I think the move to the NBA Makes Sense because college basketball is Kinda such a mess and seems to have lessened in terms of overall overall importance. No one really. It's not a destination. It's just a a way station on the way to the NBA. I don't feel like college. Football is that it's especially yet as you point out the very very high level. Ryen Russillo joins me. You can hear his show on on the podcast on the on the ringer. I'm Doug Gottlieb filling in for Colin. This is the hurt is. Let's let's quickly go to a couple more. NFL and then we'll get to college football for a second so did the browns. You mentioned the benefit bit of schedule. They get a chance to see the steelers with duck. Hodges as their quarterback does the turnaround happened. Does this Brown's team figure it out and beat the bad teams in the back of the schedule and get to the playoffs. Get to the play offs No because I still don't know that there's enough with this team where you can say. Okay I know exactly what I'm getting You know we knew. Based on that stretch. I taught my head. It's like New England. Seattle the rams and Ravens four straight weeks or something like that. And you're going who would. Oh my gosh. Like no wonder they no wonder they have all this doubt about themselves. Right but I'd have to see more like I just have to see more before I start looking at these projections go. They have a thirty seven percent. They have this. I mean Dallas Ellis has that percentage a lot higher than everybody is Philadelphia's entire offense is her you know in Philly schedules actually easier than Dallas as it goes up so No I'm not. I'm not ready to just pencil them into the playoffs. Because I think it has everything to do schedule versus me just going okay. I know exactly what I'm getting out of the browns on Sunday. I mean they're probably still going to have a loss. It doesn't make any sense. I don't think that should be that shocking. With a young team I have given into this Lamar thing that this year that he his presence his playmaking. It's been amazing here. The last couple a couple of games and and the MVP thing in terms of value. Do I think they have a great defense. A good kicking game and they're well coached. Yes the Jackson is a big reason. Why they're in? The conversation. Is the best team in football right now. But are you a buyer into Lamar long-term. Wow that's a really good question because it kind of reminds me the mcvay stuff a little bit. It's like if you just breathe the same airspace. That's him now. You're going to be the next genius head coach and now we're seeing that he's having a hard time because their offensive line is very good. And would lamar. You know I was somebody that. Watch them all the time and I went. Okay you know. I think there's some accuracy stuff on clean throws which was surprising. Clean pocket shorter. Throw any airmail and look you. Don't have to believe me. Look at go back and read the stuff and the guys that are actually unbiased and just break down the film and they may fix even Eric Weddell bill in their first camp said it was pretty rough it was rough to watch and so I thought throughout the course of the year it was kind of this energy thing the spark I mean. He's obviously I think he's the best runner we've ever seen at the position and then I am including vic there which I know is is blasphemous but He was impressive on Saturdays. I mean he's always been one of my favorite ever caused places I've ever seen. And then he has that chargers playoff game. You're like yeah this is Kinda what I thought so in the first couple of weeks it's throwing the deep over. Everybody and then I thought Kansas City played him a little differently and gave gave him underneath. Rose and I thought he struggled. I thought he'd struggling that Pittsburgh name a little bit and by the way this defense was bottom third for a good chunk of the season. And now it's all like the defense is off off the charts. In their improvement their rushing attack is incredible. They're scoring more points than like that. Mean you gotta go way back to see the kind of teams that surpassing point wise. So I'm more open open to it but I just always think that there's a correction on the dual threat. Guys that is very predictable. That one's teams get a little bit more comfortable with you. They start challenges to do some other things but honestly like I believe in him that much as a as a as a guy as a teammate. He's an incredible personality. That like if there's going to be a correction on him maybe he figures it out but right now he's making it look easy in a way that we haven't seen since VIC Kyrie Irving says you know there's so many more essentially there's so many more things that are important in his world than basketball or a real life thing that happened people every day but could still have to perform for the NBA. And Its fans main. I just kind of some sort of long winded answer as to why he chose to not show up in Boston. He hasn't played in Cleveland. Either since leaving the the Cleveland Cavaliers what what what are your thoughts on Kyri no showing when he was his shoulders hurt and they play in Boston. Okay so to be entirely Like to protect myself. When we'RE GONNA go here I'll start with this if this is a lingering issue An injury where he's he's missing multiple games after the two very specific stops. Then you're just like looking at her Mitra the track record here would tell you that. This is because he didn't want to go back to Boston. Or maybe even Cleveland. He missed game seven of the playoffs. Boston Cleveland like insure up to the game. 'cause they'd said he had surgery and it was like really hard to schedule at any other point. That's when I knew I was like this guy is checked out now. If you want to go back to the Cleveland divorce the more you dug into that I actually most reasonable people would take Kyrie side in the Lebron on Kyrie fight. Harry's like wait a minute like the rest of US talking to wait around for your moon to orbit here in I. If you're like what the hell you're doing like this is. This is day to day on your terms like I'm out in anybody with an ego wasn't GonNa like that. So the more I started to dig into that was like you know what I think Kyrie even though I don't really love his personality like I get the origin this whole thing but you know you sit there and you post the stuff and of course your posting it while your team is losing But a team. That's actually had a better winning record here Again without you just like Boston did and I I always kind of resisted that a little bit. It's like still basketball. Teams better with one of the five best or say ten best shot creating guards. He's Dat special at getting his offense. But you send out these posts and you go. What's what's the point of even trying to reason with somebody like this like this is like almost like sit there as a team like? Hey we're GONNA get all cosmic about what a game is is. Could you tell us before we give you a Max contract Is there any way to do that. And the other part of it and that's where like look. We still would have done it knowing he feels this way because it gets US durant so I. I don't enjoy it. I one of my least favourite traits personalities is. I think I'm brilliant and you're not and that's the thing I think he's he's he's just he you when he went on. I was like Oh when you were very much woke. And you're like what the hell is that quote even mean like what are you talking about so I I've given up trying to figure him out other than I think he's a guy. Hi that every stop. There's GonNa be some real challenges there and then you know every fan base. It's near the beginning. Doug and protect some Boston fans did the same thing. You Know Brooklyn fans are doing it now like Oh you don't get it you don't get it and you're like no no you don't get it like he's GonNa do this everywhere he goes. He's just a different guy. Doesn't always mean a great teammate. Yeah and it's it's really it's a IT'S A. It's an incredibly unlikeable. Character characters characteristic to not only want to be the smartest guy in the room but then to basically tell everybody else. You guys are dumb asses you know. I'm so smart. I'm so I'm so much more about just basketball. Like hey look that's great dude. But we like to actually liked to watch you play basketball. That's kind of the whole thing here. That's kind of what you get for. I mean imagines imagine if I showed up to work doing the ESPN radio show on Thursday. I'm just like hey guys..

"Online dating ads. Now granted they're TV ads or internet ads you like man. And there are some beautiful women that have gone through married jerks, you know, or whatever, and they're single and available. And look what you want is. Eight or nine who thinks she's a five or six and wants to work her way into being a seven or eight or nine the problem with tens they've been told their tents. I been told how perfect they are beautiful. They are. And you get told it's like a guy who's told how smart and has wasn't the isn't there that? Isn't that wasn't there? A there's a show something like dirty. John was the guy's name, right? Really good looking guy. Really good looking guy who just manipulated women for years before finally, like some daughter, like shot him. There's a real stupid like based on a true story. Kind of where you're having is right now. Kyrie irving. I believe dirtyjohn. Kyrie Irving is an amazing player in terms of talent. Amazing player like his finishing shots left hand. Right hand scoops. Whatever like I mean, it's, it's Ramar. It's uncanny. Absolutely uncanny. He can pass. He's unafraid of taking it making the big shot. And he's competed at the highest level. He's one NBA title, and they did so coming from four three games to one down, and while LeBron receives a ton of the claim and he receives a claim for the big shoddy Meg, nobody points out the fact that he dominated that series once they were down three games to one he along with LeBron like just cranked, it up offense and took over. Sure there were other things bogeyed getting hurt. Draymond getting suspended, etc. But look he was great in the finals. But I find this curious find this curious. The Lakers trade for Anthony Davis. And the first thing that comes out is Kemba Walker is our target. And you might think to yourself. Well, okay. That's because they don't have that much money like no Kemba Walker can make a max deal. He might not get the supermax from Charlotte, but he'll get the maximum somebody or the equivalent to the Maxon Charlotte, maybe not the supermax. So why would they all the sudden? One off of the Cairo. Like didn't isn't it worth? At least a conversation. Shouldn't be. Hey, they're going to kyri, take Kemba, and everyone who's reporting on this, and I will tell you my own Intel inside the Lakers is yeah. They'd like to get Kemba. If not Patrick Beverley, you know, maybe Darren collison. Spread that money around. What does that tell you about Kyrie Irving? Ideas. Remember Matt Flynn. Flynn had that one game he started for the Packers. I think he threw six touchdown passes and then Joe Philbin was his offense. According to Joe Philbin took the job with the dolphins and he didn't offer Matt Flynn, and Matt Flynn, went and signed with the Seahawks. They draft Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson beat out Matt Flynn, which told you all you need to know about what Joe Philbin thought about Matt Flynn, if he thought he was really good. He would have brought him with him to Miami to begin with wasn't that much money. If the Bron and Rich Paul and Anthony Davis and the Lakers, thought Kyrie Irving was worth, the hassle, they'd at least leak it out there that we got Anthony Davis. Now, we want to move mountains of get Kyrie ever, why haven't you heard that? Because he's the crazy hot chick. Right. He's the ten that's been told he's a ten. Carey smart, but he's not like some savant. He's he's not a dope. He's not an idiot, but he's, he's, he's not a rock if he's a rocket scientist. You know what he'd be doing rocket science?.

"The bucks while they eliminated the Celtics last night behind a strong performance from the Greek freak, and we'll move onto their first conference finals since two thousand one Boston, you know, they had high expectations this year. But a lot of the blame is falling. I'm Kyrie Irving shoulders in a very disappointing game five going just six for twenty one from the field and finishing with just one assist. Take a listen to kyri after the game. Disappointed. I think that. You know, you take your lessons. Take your ass woman that they handed us, and you move on plenty of people. Here are speculating about your future, and certainly the summer did uncertainty over that way on you in any way in this. No alright. Skip how much blame does you deserve. Honestly Brad Stevens tried to take the fall last night for his team. But kyri Irving deserves one hundred make it one thousand of the blame as you know, I've long been kyri fan and he did hit the shot of shots in the game seven oracle that did save LeBron. But that's just me. And that's that's a long time ago because I cannot tell lie. Kyrie Irving was at the heartless heart of the biggest collapse to me in Boston Celtics playoff history. He was at the centre given the expectations this year of the worst year. I think the Boston Celtics of ever had given what they were coming off of because I'm gonna remind everybody is they know they beat this team walkie last year in seven games, I down they took LeBron's teen to game seven of the conference finals with no Kyrie and no Gordon Hayward. They come back allegedly healthy and that happened and. It was all about kyri and this team indicted itself and indicted kyri in game one because they won game one at Milwaukee this year by twenty two point that was Kyrie's happy night. Happy kyri that night twelve twenty one from the four for twenty six points and had playoff career tying eleven assists that night. That's pretty good. Right. Very happy happy. Everybody's happy. Sharing the basketball last four games. They lost by an average of sixteen points. Kyrie average, five assists. And last night. If you look at your scoresheet there your box score he had one big assist..

"If you come up to me one day and asked me for an autograph like I might smile, I might take a picture with you, and we can call your grandmother, you ask me another day. And I might have just missed my flight. I might have just might have just had a headache. My kid might have been sleeping like kicking me and being annoyed. You never know. And I might display oh, no NAS today. And if you give me attitude, then I'm gonna give you fucking attitude right back like leave me the fuck alone. Right. But that's just because I'm human and I'm a person. And so like there are times when we're in the office that you have to turn on that smile when I'm in a gym where I'm here and you had to turn on that smile. Then there's other times where it's just like, dude. Just trying to go like take like I'm just trying to take my kids to the movies. And like sometimes you have to kind of create those barriers, and I was never super famous like a Jason Kidd or like a LeBron or Kobe or any of those guys. But there were people that numerous. Oh, hey, Richard. And it's like you could be holding your newborn child anybody. Hey, can we take a picture, and it's like well one? I don't want my newborn shot in your photo. And to I'm not gonna put down my kid with you. So like if I say no understand that like it's not because I'm just being dick. It's just because it's like this is probably not the best time. But you need to do that. Yeah. These are practical considerations. Just you mentioned the podcast. I believe you and Channing are the ones who actually got Kyrie Irving in trouble with all this flatters stuff. So Irving got Kyrie Irving and trouble. If you listen to that pocket, I gave him multiple opportunities to go say something different. Do were you floored that day like what was your? I don't I suppose he probably wasn't in the room. Or was he in the room? Did you would you fall off your chair? No, no. This is the thing. And it was great. And I love kyri Kyrie's and his. An intelligent great kid. And he said like he just most recently said he's like, look we've all been there. Where like we all go down the rabbit hole of I conspiracy theories, and he's like you all been there. And it's true. Like, you can't go anywhere without, you know, again, being I consider myself like a an adopted New Yorker because I moved here twenty one so basically fresh out of college, I was here during nine eleven I was here during the blackout like I've played I've represented this, you know, the tri-state area, I love the tristate area. So I I consider myself, but think about all the conspiracy theories about nine eleven like everyone has looked at. I'm seeing them. No. And he just kind of, you know, talked about one it was little overly passionate, and none of us. That was like our second pike. None of us knew how like to add to his conspiracy theory. So we had just set up an Instagram like probably like a week before. And no BS because it was all star weekend. Arp Instagram got shut down our Instagram got shut down the whole week, and I was pissed off because we would have gotten. Fifty thousand followers just that weekend. Because like 'cause like Adam silver was forced to talk about it. Talk about it. And it was like all these articles came out like on the road, tripping, podcast and our Instagram. No BS was shut down for three days. And it would for no reason. There was no reasonable no way. Well, we didn't really like research it. But it was like our Instagram was working. We had just set it up like a week before we probably had a few dollars. We were basically posting stuff and then literally from like Thursday to Monday it got turned back on Monday. And we were like and that was all star weekend..
