If I'm talking about the Seattle Mariners, it's going to go badly for the Seattle Mariners. If I'm talking about their president and CEO Kevin Mather, then he and they probably did something really dumb and are about to get wrecked. Mavericks vs. Nets: Dallas snaps the Nets’ 8-game winning streak
"About it. Dallas Mavericks, taking on a Brooklyn team JB Without Kevin Durant, we found out earlier Saturday, Kyrie Irving was out. James Harden had an incredible first half, but with only hard on the floor of the big Three was a game the Mavericks had to take. And they did today. Impressively in the second half. Yeah, it took him a while of the first half was No defense at all. And they took over in that third quarter holding Brooklyn 18 points. James Harden only gets four points the whole second half. And that was very impressive from Dallas, bouncing back from an ugly performance in Philadelphia on Thursday night where they turned it over 22 Times. Boy. Did they take advantage of the Brooklyn turnovers tonight? How about 32 points off of the 19 turnovers for Brooklyn. Good sign here for Dallas is they played much better basketball over the last few weeks, coinciding with eight practices they had last week. To get ready and play much better basketball than they did the first. Half of the season. Look at Don church goes with 27 points, six rebounds, seven assists. Kristaps Porzingis returned to the lineup. 26 minutes 10 of his 18 points came came in the critical third quarter. It wasn't vintage poor singles. But you saw some flashes. There is he tries to get back into form. Yeah, I think if you're Rick Carlisle, you're pretty happy with the way looked missed about a week with the sore back. Shot the ball extremely well. But again, he's got to really start taking advantage when he gets smaller guys on a Brooklyn even started Bruce Brown on him tonight. Hey, didn't take full advantage. He most of his points were outside the pain. I'd like to see him get a little more strength in this lower half and make people pay for putting small guys on. I'm getting the paint. Forced double teams, and that's going to create even easier three point shots for his teammates, Mavericks back to 516 and 16. They've won seven of their last nine and they went in Brooklyn, ending the Nets

"Where they are down. The stretch opposed to before the all-star break which i would say look james harden was by himself without kyrie and katie. They lost to the dallas mavericks so kind of hints. Sakiz pointed a little bit. But still that. Four game losing streak. You did want to see something a little bit extra from lebron. Potentially you guys did bring some anecdotal things to the table there on hard and let me just be the guy that didn't play. Let me give you the statistics notion really for play. It's hard to believe if you're listening on the radio. You probably can't tell. But it's one of those things where i would say. This is the number one reason for heart and for mvp right now. He used to lead the league or be the league leader in a stat. that's important but not flattering. It's called usage. Rate right always touching the ball. Dribble dribble dribble look kick your leg. I'll go to the free throw line with two seconds. That's his thing right. I just looked at james harden's usage rate. It's down to thirty four in the league. All this familiar characters jaanus is up there. Lucas number two. They're in the top ten hard at thirty four. Here's to share the ball with kyri and kevin durant yet. He's still making a huge impact. So if you can evolve your game doing something different than you used to do. The entire career to me. It says you're definitely evolving as a player that could be in my opinion. The best argument form one less. Nba not nets. Lost to the mavs. Saturday night fell to nine. Four and thirteen.
Los Angeles Lakers go in short-handed and fall to the Brooklyn Nets
"Lakers dropped the game to the Nets got blown out was not pretty wind up losing this one. It was 109 2098. Ouch out not good. We're going to break down exactly what happened and put a little bit of context into it. What does this mean for the Lakers moving forward now that you've lost this was a game that a lot of people look forward to a lot of people had this game marked on their calendars did the Lakers maybe not and there's a lot of different things for us to to get into here the team didn't play. Well, there's no question and we'll talk a little bit about that. But I think where we need to start is that the Lakers were down two starters and yes, it's fair to mention that the Nets were also Down Kevin Durant. That's a giant loss. The Lakers were down Anthony Davis age. A giant loss. They were also down Dennis Schroder and I thought that was a bigger loss than he would be on most nights because the Nets defense is so poor. I think schruder would have had a very good game tonight. Just living in the paint getting to the rim creating Havoc. He would have made a difference out there for the Lakers certainly, but unfortunately was not able to go do to contact tracing with all the cobit stuff going on. So, you know, that was that was definitely unfortunate. We certainly didn't get the kind of finals preview matchup that people have been thinking we would get from this game because you're missing those star players. I don't think we got a very good representation of who the Lakers are as a team. I also don't think we got a great representation of who the Nets are because they're so different with Kevin Durant, but we did find out that the Nets love to shoot lots and lots of threes and make a lot of them tonight. Let's finish the game shooting just 46% from 3, but that doesn't tell the whole story. They were 50% or better for almost the entire game. It was until the end that they dropped off doing a great job generating open Thurs. And the Lakers Defenders were struggling to get out there and get a hand up and they were knocking them down. Joe Harris ridiculous 647 from 3 for 21 points. I said, this is a pregame video game. But one thing that they couldn't do was allow another guy to get going if Kyrie gets his points if James Harden gets his points you're going to live with that you're going to try to make life as difficult as you can on them, but you can't allow another guide to get going in and this game Joe Harris certainly did again dropping 21 points and then you gave up 15 to Timothy Loma Carrboro 2015 points to TLC not great. They're from the Lakers side of things LeBron. James had to pretty much do everything 32.8 board 7 assists 33 minutes glad that he only played 33 minutes. No reason for you to burn him out in this game when it was clearly won. The Nets were going to win especially once they got into the second half LeBron 146 from three three of six from the line, okay? One of the only other guys in double-figures was sixteen and ten. So we got a double-double Montrezl Harrell with ten points. Nobody else really did a whole lot out there. Nobody else did did much on the offensive end. You had nine points from k c p but just 145 from 3 West Matthews who started and played some shooter 144 shooting o of two from deep in 24 minutes Mark assault eight points did shoot for 3:00. So I'd like to see them in four to five threes a night did shoot for hit two of them. So you'll take that but the Lakers on the night shooting just 27% from 3 that slide from behind the three-point line at one point. They were third in the NBA in 3-point percentage and they have dropped dramatically since then and in fact last game they were up just about forty percent from three against the wolves and that was the first game in a while they'd been even better than league-average from deep and that's usually about thirty-five thirty-six percent tonight shooting just 27% That's with me rounding up. That's not good enough that will not get it done 6 a.m. Turnovers on the night as well. That's not a good sign either pretty much everywhere things could have gone wrong for the Lakers. They they really did ten offensive rebounds compared to 8 to the Brooklyn Nets. The brake pads are terrible rebounding team. That was a place where the Lakers needed to dominate 24 free throw attempts for the Nets compared to just 14 for the Lakers each and every spot along the way where the lake she really needed to win that particular area free throw attempts 3-point percentage turnovers, the Nets came out on top and because of that they won the game and wanted thousand Ali so I wouldn't be taking your questions and comments, but I guess before we get into everything. How much do we really take away from this knowing? There's no Anthony Davis knowing there's no Dennis Schroder knowing that the Lakers how many times tonight did we see the Lakers throw out lineups that we've never seen before with five men groups that literally have not played a single minute together yet. Not played a minute. That matters and I know we get some people who say it always but you can't make excuses. You can't you know, you have to go out there and win every single game. I'm just telling you what happened in the game. We saw the Lakers defense breakdown thought that was the Nets offense was really good part of that was the Lakers energy wasn't there part of that was also that they were playing an unfamiliar groupings and defense being something where everybody has to be on the same page. You get defensive breakdowns like this when you throw a line up together add necessity, I don't blame Frank Vogel here. You have no shooter. No Anthony Davis your entire rotation changes and you're winding up throwing out these kind of bizarre lineups out on the court and that's going to create defense of break that breakdowns. It's going to lead to open looks because you guys aren't used to knowing exactly where they're going to switch off their defense of responsibilities are it's a tough situation to be in and so I don't want to make excuses for the Lakers energy. I think they should have played with more energy with more Pace should

Los Angeles' Lakers LeBron James Scores 35,000th Career Point
"On how things go in the next few minutes. This could be one of those games where LeBron James gets a little bit of rest in the fourth quarter tonight as Brooklyn is all over the Lakers right now, 89 72 in the final minute of the third quarter. James Harden has 21 Kyrie Irving's got 12 and four assists. Meanwhile, LeBron James we talked about him hitting the 35,000 point Plateau in the MBA earlier in this game has 27. Basically, that's really it for the Lakers as far as he's having a big night, Kyle Kuzma has this having a nice knights got 16 and nine, But the Lakers just getting beat right now by the Nets. And

"Thibodeau. So much Saturday night with Nick fans finally allowing enter the garden. You might have some of those videos. Celebrating like it's 1994 again in New York. That's how desperate that fan base is just to get the 500. Then last night, getting above 500 Great job by Tom Thibodeau and the Knicks while books update coming up in a little bit Theeighties that segment With Philly fans back in full action. It's spring training, but just a couple more thoughts on what D A lead the show with the MBA this weekend, first and foremost of his great after a week off last week to park, my fanny, my fat Fanny on the couch. Just really put a dent in crevice in that thing and get into some obvious I watched hockey yesterday. Little MBA all day yesterday and Saturday night, especially So the bucking obviously with the Clippers as the a pointed out monster effort, they finally showed they could really close verse in elite opponent because the Bucks have been really good at beating up on lower to your teams, and as we just mentioned the Knicks, there are plenty of those to go around. In the Eastern Conference. So to do that, at home on national TV versus the Clippers, And with that Johannes thundering dunk was enormous D a not giving as much credit to the Lakers. I understand this point, if you're not going to give them credit for their losses or bash them for the losses of that, 80 It's tough to take them or give them all the bouquets for the winds, But it should be noted They did blow a 14 point lead versus the Warriors in their last game versus them, and where the Warriors CIT currently in that play in situation in the eight seed. Look, that's a team in Golden State that could be very dangerous. Coming out of a plane tournament may run into the Lakers in the first round. So I think psychological psychologically to be able to just punish the Warriors like that, without a D just sends that little extra hip check and reminder and not give the Warriors any more confidence after they had that last meeting. First, the Lakers That they that they could beat them in a postseason series I want Saturday night on ABC is again great weekend of NBA Games all over national TV. The Nets play without Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant for the seventh straight games. So James Harden takes over which, by the way, we've seen enough of these games were Durant's been banged up for Kyrie needs whatever injury is going on with him. Thank goodness he traded for James Harden because it's kept them relevant kept them flying. They had a nine game win streak. They had been 11 and three versus the Western Conference, which is important. When you consider the fact that everybody who wants to bash this big three that the Nets have put together say they can't beat a team for the Western Conference. They've been 11 3. And then here comes the freaking Mavs. Winning seven of the last nine. They now are above 500. Luca turns 20 to 1 Sunday and the Mavs and the Warriors battling right there that could find themselves in a play in situation. I'd be very, very nervous of aside top seed in the West because the Western Conference so deep Mavs warriors Those two teams could be very dangerous coming out of a plane torment for the Lakers or jazz, and I believe d A is back with us. Summarize. I saw you getting into it with Knicks fans over the weekend on Twitter because, of course You were back from vacation for approximately 13 minutes before you try to get into things on Twitter, but Over the weekend, the Knicks had hit 500. I don't know how late in the season it's been how long it's been since they actually hit 500, but they're throwing ticker tape parades in New York Knicks fans are because finally, they're not a disaster. Did you really have to just poke the bear? After like, 20? Years of misery by the Knicks? See, this is where I get killed for poking the bear. There was no poking the bear. I was a bear who had been poked. So, look, I think what Tom Thibodeau was done with the Knicks is incredible. They went again last night. We just did this with the home people doing more there over 501 of four teams in these, they're over 500. Typical might be the coach of the year. It's been an unbelievable job that being said I'll say it right now our afternoon host here on CBS Sports Radio Brandon Tierney Zbig Knick fan. I follow a lot of the Knick fan New York media that they love to live on those nineties days and come out beating their chest now. And if you want to enjoy the next good play and be excited about it, I think that's great. I don't know about celebrating in the street, leaving the garden Saturday night, someone's viral videos. My issue is what is it now? Come back to them, all of them tweeting about no matter what happens here with the Nets, and their and their season, they could win the finals. What matters in New York is what's going on with the Knicks, and we gonna care about the draft they care about building What is with this? They got a rope the nets into everything. Yes, The Nets have less fans that the Knicks What does it matter? Yeah, I'm sure the net fan really cares about the next trip when they're winning the NBA Finals. I'm sure New York that's all they're going to care about. All right, Great. Then that's might be relevant to a lot of people. New York It's just weird with the Knicks. It's like they're good, but they can't stand that the little brother in town. Might make the finals when they're finally good again. It was just very odd that while the Knicks were winning, their fans were roping the nets into things, and it ticked me off. Well, I think that's to fold. I think the Knicks fans they had nothing to cheer for for 20 years, and they've been kicked and pushed and shoved down. And so finally, the feel good was like an empowering feeling because their punch line I mean, it's Absolute disgrace have been for a long time, and I kind of feel like this is little fool's gold. It's nice that they're competitive. I don't think they're anywhere near the top three, which is the net The Bucks in the Sixers in the NBA's eastern Conference the fields to me, but they might get a good draw on the first round. Because the Eastern Conference is so bad, so I think it's a little bit of we finally have a chance to feel good. And then the second part is If that's kind of overnight became a championship contender. And so there's almost no respect for just acquiring KD and Kyrie. The next answer insecure about that. So this was perfect. Just the perfect storm for you over the weekend to get into it and just rain Totally on their parade. Look, you know me. I was hitching. It's been a long time since I've been able to rein on it by long time. I mean a week and let me just say this just had a couple of Knick fans come back at me on Twitter with that notion. Well, look, the Nets bought this. We're building something organically. Excuse me. Did the Knicks not try to psych and sign Kevin Durant? I mean, did that not happen? Did he not say no to the Knicks? So please spare me that the Knicks are trying to build this thing from the ground up. They would have been all over signing Durant of Kyrie wanted to go to them to they would assign him to sow enough that the Knicks air this holier than now We build things organically. Give me a freaking break. Well, that's for sure, because well, they did. They did by and large build this with the young players and organically but they would not have had Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving decided to go there. But remember, those guys wouldn't even give the Knicks a meeting. They didn't cut in front of the of those two players because the Knicks have been such a punch lines. That's I think the biggest win here is that if Thibodeau can just change, and the front office can just change the idea of the next being a complete and utter laughing stock Then at least you have a building block to become reputable or respectable when one of those guys do become free agents look the fact on March 1st that we're even mentioning the Knicks and not laughing about them. Potentially having the top overall pick, I think is a win for Knick fans here on national radio, But I just again let Nick Finn just enjoy the moment. It doesn't have to come back to the fact that there's another team in town that you go to the finals. That's what ticked me off. But yeah, I got my big spoon in there..
Chris Broussard: LeBron is right, KD, Warriors Big 3 were better than Nets
"Asked about playing in next week's free for the first time on thursday. Lebron james pump the brakes on calling it. An unprecedented collection of talent reminding reporters quote. We forgot about katie. Stephan play. already. I mean there you go there you go right there of course lost back to back finals to the warriors big three that he referenced right then i first sard is back joining us. I don't think so chris. Do you agree with the brown hair. Well i i'm guessing that skip sensors and alterior motive. Oh i won't go there. I'll be interested in seeing what he says. But i'm going with the golden state guys staff clay and and i've got five reasons why number one the pieces fit together better when those three katie went to golden state. We had no questions about whether or not it was going to work because none of the guys are ball dominant. None of them needed the ball in their hands. A lot to be effective and give you twenty plus points. Obviously james harden and car. We have been bald dominant dribble it a lot which can make it more difficult to fit together now. They're fitting together great offensively but theoretically there games are a lot more ball dominant. Golden state guys to golden state was better defensively. And i'm not just talking about draymond green. Who's not even part of this conversation. You add katie. Who was younger and i. I'm sure it was a better defender at that point. Then he can be at this point a little older often an achilles injury and then klay thompson was a legitimately very good defender. He made an all nba. Defensive team steph obviously is in the category of harden and kyrie. None of them are really great defenders. The third thing better shooters as well as hard and kyrie shoe. And they are great shooters steph. Curry is the best shooter in nba history. So good that he changed the game. He literally changed the way the nba is played because he's such a great shooter and clay is arguably arguably the second greatest shooter of all time again that enables you to fit better together and certainly for today's game the better shooters i mean. That's a huge thing. You have fourth no drama. They they they were low maintenance guys in golden state k. d. had a little drama but for the most part that's a low maintenance group in brooklyn i i love his game but i gotta worry about kyrie. He was playing great at the beginning of the season. And then all of a sudden just went awol. Is that going to happen again. Is going to be happy. The entire season playing shooting guard. Or will he get the rich to have the ball in his hands more again even last night. Why was car sitting out. They said back tightness. But i bet you replace the next five games and is fine and plays great like they need to be on the floor as much as possible. I can't be legitimately injured hamstring but kyrie hard and they don't need to be just sitting out to rest are so the drama a is there. And here's the final thing steph and clay before k. got there. They proved that they could lead a team to a championship. They proved they didn't need this transcendent lebron or k. d. or somebody like that to lead them to a championship. They didn't need a stack team. They did it on their own k. D. was certainly the best player on those golden state teams but he went to a champion. Already he is still yet to prove. He can lead his own team to a championship. Even though it was the best player kyri hit one of the greatest shots in nba. History may be the greatest. But obviously that was lebron's team. Kyrie has have much playoff success without lebron james yet and we know harden has yet to prove that he can lead a team to a championship. So for all those reasons. I'm going with golden state
Kyrie Irving scores 35 as Nets snap three-game losing skid, beating Pacers, 104-94, NY to allow fans to return to sports stadiums and arenas
"The Nets could be on Tuesday in Detroit, and we saw how good they can be. Last night in Brooklyn. They led the Pacers by as many as 36. The final scored. Barclay Center won all 4 94 as they snap their season I three game losing streak carrier being led the way with 35 points, James Harden chipped in with 19 points and 11 rebounds. We just got after you know, we're all on the same page. Salah Fires Liverpool Up the PL Table
"A very good result for liverpool beating west ham. Three one in franklin booth with us steve. That was very impressive. Second-half performance report impressive. I i was quite impressed with illiberal plates for most of the game to be honest. The most impressive thing was that we have the return of mr mosala. I mean i'll be talking recently about how this guy has fighting with. All eight couldn't get a hold of the ball to save his life at times. But today my goodness you talk about moslem the ball the fox one jenkin pasta defend getting on these lasting colored one and then the second one i mean. Are you ever going to see a force torch. Contestable kyrie was like four thousand. A year kim for houses. Well tenny. just. Give a little tickle prey on his left bag and then just stuck away with say w left. I mean what's goal. And as i said. Look slate mosala has written just in time. It's crazy considering stevie how much criticize him. But he's the leading goalscorer in the semi lane. Well he is. You know yes. you've asked me previously. Do this guy this keep them. He has to quit through and that's what he's done. You know the truth. Has your husband been these past. And when he saw that Certainly asked the big. Evan leeway because of goldie skulls scored a goal since crystal palace last year so somebody has ability then we have to point out but as i said hopefully bike. Frankly imagine you'd prefer if you didn't share what you text me after that second go from ceylon to say you were impressed by it. Yes you wouldn't share. Because i know you're not allowed to that channel but i was a masterpiece. I barely saw a contract data efficient in technical way in the way that they d run forward. The past from alexandra old and i first from shakira was exceptional. And what about you. Know the the control from a left-footed with the right foods from saleh with a little step in a chip over the leg of the goalkeeper to score the second goal i mean. That's that was absolutely fantastic. And i have to say that was really really impressed by the by that

How Will the Outcome at UFC 257 Impact Conor McGregor’s Fighting Future?
"We have the monster fight. Saturday night this saturday. The return of the notorious conor mcgregor. Ufc two fifty-seven taking on dustin perea fight island in abu dhabi. Mcgregor spoke earlier this morning. Our time take a listen. I know a hell of a competitor. I notice questions here. He's heavy he's zupan. he's on a different way. he's experience. I feel i can do it however you know. There are question marks garden conditioning. And things like that. I know his team has been spouting about the condition and that i have put in a lot of work to get myself correctly to the one hundred fifty five pound frame. I got forty seconds inside the octagon and twenty twenty which caused major frustration. In my know it's not enough. I need more.

It's not a first for Irving. He donated $1.5 million of his salary to supplement the income of W NBA players and donated more than $300,000 to feeding America. Matt Piper.
"kyrie" Discussed on Jalen and Jacoby
"Clear cut favorite right now to win the championship and the number one seed in the western conference. One of them's worth mentioning though is third in defensive rating in six offense of rating like third best defense six offense. That's going to translate to wins. No matter who you are. They've been doing it on both ends jalen. One of the teams that wants to challenge the lakers in the conference of course. Another dynamic duo that of k. d. and kyrie k. d. has been out for week with precautions. Guess what no problem kyrie went off. What did you see from the point. Guard brooklyn last night. I want to celebrate kyri. Because like i said since he and steph curry rose to superstardom on the offensive end of the floor. Like these guys are harlem globetrotters plan in the nba. You see those moves jacoby that like we see horie irvine people because of his height wanna put him in the box of being a point guard. Look at him. Like you. Look at steph dane. These deals are prolific scorer who aren't charged with getting ten assists. He sees himself to say way. James harden does. He looks at himself like a shorter version of kevin durant. And i can't front. When i saw put up fifty five against the spurs a couple of years ago. That's when i thought of that example. I was clearly disappointed in defense of effort by the utah jazz. Donovan mitchell disc over thirty but for car read come on play the way he did against a playoff team with two with a pair of two hundred million dollars players on the other side. It was extremely impressive. You remember that. I g live with him and katie and kyrie was like no matter. Who's covering me. I think it's a mismatch. He's kind of showing that on the court so far this season. What is really interesting to point out during. This is steve. Nash remixed the whole lineup. The only starter that remained from the previous game to this game was kyrie irving and one of the key. Things he did was finally replaced. The andre jordan. With jared allen and you look at those from cairo who sent all those screens. Oh jared allen. Who's collecting this behind the back. Pass jared jared allen played really. Well he's clearly a better choice. Indiana jordan up to like chemistry between him and katie and carry was the reason that he was in the starting line to begin with but not only that taurean prince started and boeing started. And what did that do. The one problem with this team was the defense that shored up the defense. Utah shot just under thirty nine percent from the field. I'm gonna say it again. Utah shot just under thirty nine percent from the field. And i think that this is steve nash. Starting to figure out that maybe when you have scores like kyri and k. D. you should surround them with the vendors to help that and of the court. Do you think he will continue to do this. Throughout the season. Trying to find the lineup. Absolutely the only you know anchors in the line of clearly are going to be katya coury and we've gone in nets game together. We've taken this show to the barclays squad that we've adopted and it's ironic that we get a chance on wax to cheer for care. Sliver like likes cheer for him and cheerful then. But you take it personal to jared allen name. Starting you take your personal. Yeah you love. Jerry allison much. Why do you take so personal. I agree with you. He should be starting. But i want people to know how much you're a fan of his and why you take it personal that they had the nerve to start your guy well. It all started in that series against the sixers now. Did they win the series. No put did they go back and forth a little bit. Yes jared allen showed that not only can he run run rum and dunk. He can also play defense. Joel embiid somewhat obviously can stop want to be one of the best in the league. But then they bring andre jordan clearly because he's friends with katie and kyrie. I'm sharing a rising role player in this league. And you're gonna bring in this. Who does what protects.

"Lunch table type of conversation and you don't have to take it to be So literal that they're gonna be rewriting. The playbook in handing it to steve nash. Before the first game of the regular season. But i think it's also interesting to know that he's one of the best improvisational players we've seen in the game. And he wants to map out how he goes about his offense which could be that. He's on such a high level that he can think that many plays the head or could be. This is just two guys having fun talking about the game. I think it's two guys have a fun but kyrie is a great post up guard. He doesn't get enough credit for that. But i love k d's response to so coach like i don't think that's best for team right now so you know talking about floor ballots. That's all love their cover from k. d. But you're talking about. This is a better on paper. They fit better than lebron and kyrie. Lebron is that ball hands a lot. He's a guy he's a playmaker a guy like that. Both of those guys were like that but now you put k. d. with them who in his whole career has been one of the most fish players. When it comes to getting buckets one two three dribble max to get wherever he wants to get through to get a bucket. We kyri being that show me who can put it on the floor. Do anything with the ball. I think they got so many options to play off of each other. And again i think this helps k b get himself going again get his legs back underneath them and not feel the pressure to have to come out and be okay right away. Plus by the way it was the return of kevin durant last night and that was amazing. We haven't seen kyrie irving who in a while either because various injuries and the bubble. And there's nothing else that man around a basket. Sorry i know the handles are out of control and all that stuff but just the way he moves around the hoop. It's so nice to have that back in the nba. All right coming up guys. James harden still wants.
"kyrie" Discussed on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz
"Lynn decided to take over special teams duties last week on top of everything else really was just described to. You is an absolute special teams apocalypse. Getting some working. Because he's going to be a special teams next year. it would appear that that's the place that he's headed. We're going to update the polls at lebatardshow In just a second what are you. What are you laugh about billy. What's good job. I mean that's why would you put him. Why would you watch what we saw yesterday. And put him in charge of special teams. But what's to god's was saying there about kevin durant. I can't believe none of us elected as funniest thing from the sports weekend after professing a media boycott after costing himself and his team twenty five grand in fines kyrie irving decides to do an instagram live with kevin durant end doing so it was awkward as hells through. God's i would do it though. It was mike. What would you say were the highlights from this. Because kyrie irving trying to tell kevin durant that he is like kevin durant and kevin durant saying not really. You're not and please don't take too many shots. Was i felt almost like they were doing it. Just to see how it would be consumed by us. As it was a social experiment by them My heart sank. When i saw kyrie irving live on instagram and i couldn't turn away and it went exactly how i thought when kevin durant joined me was doing this with a couple of his teammates but everyone was most interested in seeing what that exchange would be. What would you agree. That kyrie irving was given off. I'm in charge. And kevin durant was given off very much aboard. No you're not. I'm going to go the other way on this. I actually now think it's going to work more seeing just how kevin durant dismissed serving entire us. That's what that was amazing to watch saying what you get two and a half post ups a game and the half as you throw in the ball right back out to me. I was you in a previous life. Footwork is impeccable. Yeah but dopey under the rim and give me the ball back. I don't think it's good for the continuity of our offense kyri. If you're under the basket the entire time at lebatardshow so good. Stu got look there be a shift year. Where kyrie is such a pain and kevin durant is the one the only was in. Call them out because he's the only one that has to be because this was very much fly around and elephants but like oh there's no doubt let let it be known now on kyrie's it's the graham live that kevin durant is telling you now my team my team kyrie. I'll say right to your face. Yeah but my footwork is impeccable. Tune app posts up a game and half of one. Is you throw the ball back out to you in a previous life. I couldn't even understand what he's saying. I was like just irving think. He's a seven footer. It katie join up with kyrie to make himself seem more likable. That's what i'm saying. This is going to backfire on me. He is the only person that can cause cairo. Doesn't care if you like it or not clearly does not care. Kyri is is so interesting and so all over the place that he is going to do the impossible and make me like kevin durant. I'm too that's funny because kyrie irving doesn't care whether you like him or not but kevin durant seems to vary much care whether you like him or not and it seems like kyrie's doing him a favor here hey being upbeat. I may be kyrie. Let me just be this. Might be the formula for kevin durant oklahoma state at the meat shield of russell westbrook over their dream on green. We'll take some of the blame over and golden state. Now he's got one built on a lab and kyrie irving he's going to check. It all was unbelievable. How cold it was. It was just it. Was the whole thing. Felt disrespectful and it. Just i want you to imagine kyrie irving just eating feces throughout an instagram la..

"I do not talk to pawn. Kyri says my attention is worth more fierce. Is this fine. And is kyrie's words something for nothing or everything. It's definitely something. Macabre has to understand man. This is what comes with the job. You know your your role model your superstar whether you're a basketball player Actor or whatever field you in you're in the limelight and this all comes with your job. It's only a distraction. If you let it be a distraction but you understand when you signed up for this when you got drafted when you sign these big contracts a superstar in this league. This is what you sign up for. So i don't use everything to me rachel and it's not because he called the media ponds. I t he doesn't have to like the media. That's fine but two and a half years ago. I went to north dakota when kyrie irving went to the standard standing rock sioux tribe reservation. And he went there for several reasons and he gave those kids and those people there an incredible day and he joined the tribe. He donated one hundred thousand dollars that day and that was important. But the real thing the real important and why the media were there was because the standing rock sioux tribe wants people have been adopted out of their community to come back home and kyrie's mother was adopted out of that community and the media giving attention to that was their ability to show to there to there to the outreach of the of their nation to come back and that's where the media and awareness and the nba players can work together now. I am very aware that kyrie irving has donated several million dollars just this year to charity endeavors. I am aware that he gave food and masks. To the standing rock sues again this year. I'm aware of what he meant for those kids. When that day on that day north dakota he stood there for hours and shook every single one of their hands to give them a moment and being there to document. That was so important. Not just because it's to give kyrie irving that he did a good deed but because of what it means to that entire community and for kyrie for somebody who cares so deeply about his outreach. What he does outside the basketball court to act like the media doesn't play a role in that it's just a it's just his judgment and ultimately i'm going to judge kyrie irving on what he does on that rectangle. That's the basketball court going forward. And that's that's unfortunate because we really should have a bigger conversation about what kyrie does all around because he is doing special things. I wanna put kyrie. Irvings minded ease in terms of fines. The way finds work in the nba. Is that the revenue comes in the players association and the nba split that money. And then they farmed out to different charities so that money is going to a good place kyri so that is good And then in terms of the relationship with the media media look not all meteoroid the same just the way donald players are the same. The media is in general. You're conduit to fans that has changed somewhat with the rise of social media and phones and all of that but not completely a a lot of what the fans get from players is through the media and then there's also the money involved the money that kyri makes that not only helps him enjoy the finer things in life but helps him donate and give to the causes. That are so important to him. A lot of that comes from television contracts and the billions of dollars that poor into the league through talking to the media being available being personality. Who is larger than life. Not just what you say on the basketball court but what you say off of it having that voice and having the money that frankly comes with that voice that allows you to do the things you want to do both personally and for greater cause and there is absolutely a way to play basketball without the media without being fined for not talking to the media. There are courts this country where you can just go hoop if you love the game and you don't want all the attendant stuff around it. I get it man and that is available to you. If you want to opt into this version there are wools and there are rules that show a respect not for any reporter per se but for the fans who get that information who gets to connect to you through tv through print through through video through all the different ways that they get to do it and i would just encourage him also to think a little bit about that as he moves forward but as the fines pile up yes kyri they are going to a good place all right. Let's move onto. Paul george who signed a max extension with the clippers yesterday. Pg now signed through twenty five including a player option in the last year. When asked about the clippers yesterday he said quote. I owe them a trophy. Listen to what else he has to say. This is where i want to be. This is home. I'm at home and I want to build a Something a real foundation and ultimately this is where my legacy Where i wanna leave the biggest imprint on. It's not putting a gun to cry and you know telling him he's gotta be this or do that Hopefully as a mutual bond and You.

We in in the wrong way as if he's trying to. Derail. What's going on for no reason I just I inside on this, too. Because I, I've talked to see. What I'm saying like. The narrative out there. Trying to have a mutiny right like this is what I'm told by multiple people. Kyri. After they had the vote. Okay in Kyrie's new to the executive committee, so they voted and Kyrie kind of win along. Wasn't that of you heard? He said he's going to be booze there and stuff like that, but he really didn't shares opinion. He just kind of went with the flow. Okay, and then he starts getting taxed. WHO mother players around the League that are like? Hey, we our voices, not being heard. We got concerns. It's a not so Kyrie talks to the. The executive committee about what he's hearing and the Executive Committee there I talked to a member of it today. There is no beef between Kyrenia. Executive Committee hours told the Executive Committee the other guys, said look. We want you to share. Speak your mind whether we agree or not. We want you to speak your mind. As inquiry began sharing his thoughts, and the thoughts of other players, and that's why he had to call now, and I'll say this to Chris real quick. People when people were saying okay wait is he's a VP of the union. He supposed to listen to the other players. Chris Rhyme pulling that knowledge back into the office. Right to discuss it. That's what he's doing his job. People are acting like he's coming out of left field. He's a part of the Union. Right no question, and and if even if he wasn't, he's a star..

SUPPOSED TO BE NBA Finals Right Right There's a lot. Going on right now. Yeah, there is but the NBA is is interesting because the League which. I think anyone would deem to be the most progressive of the major and even maybe minor professional sports leagues. Is the one who over the weekend there was some pushback as to the Orlando bubble plan. Get to that should point out to you that. Eric Mangini joined the show Chris Bruce. Arnold joined the show ric. Bucher joined the show. I have I have this, Todd. Have the software you on baseball a point. That I have reached on baseball that in one hour we will share with you. Which I think speaks to all of US collectively on Major League Baseball. We'll get to that, but but let's start with the fact that no matter what else you think. About the NBA. About who the best player is but who the team to beat is. The voice deface the leader of the League. Is. Lebron James and I point that out because over the weekend. We're actually on a Friday night, and can you just like sometimes? You GotTa understand the day in time in which you pick it but Friday night. There's a phone call. Apparently, eighty players, some wnba players who wnba is going to have a season. They're going to get full compensation. It's going to be in Bradenton Florida. I understand they're kind of collectively bonding together, I I do think though that, too. Many voices in perspectives at times are a bit too much for this particular discussion, there's eighty players on a call and one of the dissenting voices as the Orlando bubble plan was under then Kyrie Irving. Now it should be pointed out that. Luke Kyrie Irving does have this. Have this in weird ability? Weird ability to generate a reaction, not based upon always what he says, but some of the things he has previously said or the thought that there are some of the things well. The only reason carry wouldn't wanNA play his. He doesn't want Lebron to get another championship. Career carries the badge of being a flat earth, or which I don't actually think. Is What Kyrie Irving is. Kyrie irvings flat. Earth Philosophy is more challenging conventional wisdom, right? Don't always just believe what you what you've always been taught because you've always been taught it and he uses being a flatter as an example. The problem with that is it goes directly in the face of science. And arguing to the rest of the world something we know to be a scientific provable. Fact isn't a scientific provable fact does cause anything else he say says to I'm having roller is. But when Kyrie Irving says hey look. Is it possible that playing this season in Orlando in a bubble which takes all of these talented men away from their homes. And PUTS THEM ON TV in an empty arena playing basketball does that distract us us as a country us as a as a league? From. What's most important long-term? which is this push for social for for? Ford for Justice for equality. For the things that we want to see. Happen as a country in this time of of change. So. Here's what I WANNA to do, and this is really important. Look I'm not gonNA. Shoot the Messenger. Out that Kyrie Irving is the same guy who apparently the week before on a similar call offered no sort of pushback on the Orlando Plan and simply WanNa. Know with booze down there. It's the same Kyrie. Irving who's not even gonNA play in Orlando. Wait, you don't want us to go on a trip and decided champion, even though you're not actually going to play, and beyond the trip and decided champion that that strikes me as odd DUnno look. What, what so many Americans not just minorities gay, but people who there are others that are disenfranchised and you had all these gay pride parades yesterday across the country. All black lives matter changing the black lives matter for a day. We're seeing change and progress, but in this particular form. Hey, we want to be heard. That's it. That's what black people have been telling white people. It's like listen. You have to understand your perspective is in our perspective, because you don't live in our world in our skin on a daily basis. You don't know what it is like. Let me explain to you what it is like. We're being told listen, so you know what? I think it's a good plan. Let's listen. Let's listen to what Kyrie Irving saying does. He have flaws as a messenger shore course? He does Cabernet as a messenger. Boy about message. Is there some validity to the idea that if we're really all in for the cause of changing things, why get distracted and go back to work and play basketball? Now my personal perspective again I'm a white former basketball player I don't know what it's like to be a black basketball player, especially one that has the type of wealth and influence that NBA player especially superstars like career in the brain and others have, but my personal perspective is especially working in the media. Don't you have a greater platform when you're playing six nights a week on national TV, across multiple platforms and multiple networks. Yes, you could dedicate yourself. You could dedicate your life to trying to change the world. But? Couldn't you also do that while playing in the NBA? The perfect example is Lebron James. Lebron James who has been a champion for social justice going back years, the Bron, James, who has fostered change in the school system in Akron Lebron James as part of a coalition of star athletes, trying to bring about change and pushing people towards voting, and you know what. Lebron James can say that every time he has a post game interview or Inbetween interview or no matter what network he's on. If you're playing in Orlando and you're one of the select few media members who gets to interview Lebron James. It's Lebron score if he wants to push people to vote if he wants to push for continued awareness of social justice reform. Right like my perspective is. I think it's an ill-thought-out strategy, but it's really really to me. An important case study in our we actually listening. Because if you watch enough, you do realize that I no matter what argument you're making. There's a lot of still shouting going on. There's more listening maybe not enough. So, why don't we use this Kyrie Irving argument? Hey if you're if we really want to have social justice. Social Justice reform then being distracted by playing basketball, and going back to work and being on TV, that that will cause people to not watch these protests not pay attention to so many of these videos, and not pay attention to what's going on, not just needed cities, but in the suburbs and the chains that were trying to have take place. I'm willing to listen. I don't agree with the argument. But again the exercise and the importance of this time is to not think you have all the answers instead. Listen to other people's perspective who do not share your own. Background your own viewpoints your own perspective. Joy Let me, ask you. When you ice cube tweeted about it. Dwight Howard also was in support of Kyrie Irving. Do you think? Is it a when you hear what Kyrie says?.

We're actually sitting across which we were in fake studio together last couple I thought you didn't disclose that infringe don't but sometimes like the audio can be so little off where people like. You can't be in the same rights sounded like we're in the same room. Did it though better than like a phone call. I what I find funny is when you text me about coming on the pod and then you say oh. I'm going to be in New York will be in studio together. You think that that is a positive like oh which should be more enticing to come on the PODCASTS. Because I'll be there. We'll be in the studio together quite the contrary well. Hansel now before the podcast which were I would like to remove that from my mouth right if you want to hear more about that conversation. Check the boxing podcasts. Later in the week. It's can I join you? You're welcome to be a friend of the boxing pot as well dual pocket under some soccer to maybe ice Sacramento. Not believe that you were quite the basketball player too. I saw on the broadcast on Sunday. The side by side picture of you watch dominant. He'll watch every yes he's the reason I worked twenty one. Yes all right we should get the real stuff because no one cares about the dominique same level. Yeah Yeah Yeah thanks. Let's talk about Sunday's game. Kyrie Irving makes his return. I gotTa Tell You. This is why you are watching the broadcast. This guy was watching fertilizer John Collins and see what he was doing no. I don't know if you were just interested in watching that's on yes. I- nets on yes number one broadcast team in the NBA. Except route goes on takes a slight dip. But you know Brooklyn's my boxing broadcast partners. Well I know in gradients here. Arched number is is just the worst but believe that got kyrie. Irving makes his return. A lot of I was a little surprised he came back. Be Honest with you win. All at what point at what point like when the counter turn to January. It's like all right. We're now into two thousand twenty. The team is not championship contender. This is clearly a significant problem. Gone well past the idea that Cairo was ducking plank in Boston. That happened a month and a half ago Do you now realize had. This is your players. Don't duck especially guys like Kyrie. Kyrie wants to go back to Boston and tour fifty like rats. What he wants to write always what he wanted to do. But I was surprised like given the shoulder injury. It didn't sound like he was getting much better. But then all of a sudden a few days ago he's back practice doing five one five and now he's giving it a go. What was your reaction to Kyri? Making his return on. Well I think we learned a lot more information when he spoke to the media A few days into the new year in him basically telling us that he was struggling with this because it wasn't getting better and he was going to see different specialists. Who was trying to figure out what was going on. And then finally got a cortisone shot on December twenty fourth and. That's where the trajectory of things his progress his progress You know Just everything how he was going about his rehab started to improve and so I think just as soon as hearing he spoke he said he he he kind of Said. I'm going to give it a week and see how it feels he. Of course throughout all of this was trying to avoid having surgery In went in by all accounts what we were hearing once because he'd had been doing non contact drills and he'd been on the court he been doing a lot of things but just didn't feel Doctors include everyone that he was cleared for context so got. The cortisone shot was feeling better in in that week. The Nets due to their schedule had a couple good practices And he was tremendous and back to you know the Kyri as we saw the other night I will say this. I was not surprised that he played You never know. I think with injuries. I think all speculation people from the outside not knowing what's going on I think can be really irresponsible. So the fact that he did play I was what I was surprised by in just was tremendous and fun to watch and I know Atlanta's not a world beater and of course trae young not playing just how highly efficient he was how fluid he seemed how you look at US numbers. He was ten of eleven from the field. Played just under twenty minutes. So the the point is this all just he. He looked so comfortable and like he'd been playing You know over the course of the last effective. Heedless missed the last two months and so that to me was was like wow. He looked like he looked very surprising. Given how much time that he's because I would say that about any player anytime you're not on the court playing you would expect there'd be a transition period. Yeah look for the I think one of things that might help ease his transition back into playing for the team is back that they had bad. You know prior to him coming back. I mean what was it losses in a row before the Miami? Seven seven zero And this was like on top of November. They started win a little bit and all those stories came out about our here. The Nets numbers without Kyrie Irving here. Their numbers with Kyrie. Irving people would say while they better without CA- which always nonsense I mean the guy. It's all nonsense but I also in in I've spoken about this at a decent amount. I think none of that ever took into account so he played eleven games early on not took an account. How many moving. Parts and new part there were on the roster in it of itself so for any team any new roster compilation. You're going to have a process where it takes time for guys to get used to each other so I think throughout the course of that care sliver of course getting hurt Throughout the course of when they were playing well a lot of it to me was guys get like a Gareth getting more comfortable Taurean Prince. Getting more comfortable Spencer Dinwiddie was not good at the beginning of the season and then he sort of playing in an all star level and obviously some of this created opportunity need playing time however I think there was so much focus and emphasis on what they were with and without Kyri that it didn't take into account at all just by nature. A new team with new pieces sometimes takes hot. But that's always going to be the case with Kyrie. After what happened in Boston you know is always going to be a contrast between what he did with. The team does with him on the floor with him without on the floor and I would say for any not just any star more so though because like there's the as Boynton surges. Maybe the Boston the established. But it's kind of established. Sort of like I kind of looking at the Celtics are and the fact that Kemba lights with the Anti Kyrie in Boston personality. And saying like you know. Kyrie's got a lot to prove in season like this and nobody questions his talent but it's the chemistry stuff and one thing I'm looking for in the next month if he continues to play the passing right like before we went out of the lineup. And that's I think we're twenty-seventh in the NBA and passing and then he goes out and the passing improves. Like does the ball stick too much when Kyrie's in the floor because he can do some unreal things with the ball. But that's not what this team needs. You gotta get everybody involved. You GotTa Keep Spencer Dinwiddie on this train. That he's on You. GotTa get cares. Levert back into Bacteria guys like Jared Allen and Joe Harris. Get their touches like. That's a big thing to watch. I think for Cairo the next month. I think that's a big thing to watch. I think that's a big thing to watch for any team in any offense however in looking at that and I think that was another positive to draw from the game against Atlanta in just the first game bet just how well the ball moved how everyone was getting touches. Everyone was involved. There was a ton of balance In in terms of spreading that out I do think though there's a certain balance of we even looked at some numbers of usage rates and comparisons of what Spencer Dinwiddie was doing and how much the ball was hit in his hands. How many ISOS? The Nets have been utilizing whether it was spencer whether it was torn reprints. you name it even when. Kyrie was not playing so again. I think I think it goes to. There's different ways there's different kind of viewpoints of taking a look at the ball sticking or isolation plays or when guys are going one on one versus is this a part of the fluidity of the offense so I think that that that'll be a major thing but that's that's a part of Kenya. Choson the coaching staff's job. How do we make sure everyone is involved? Do you think that there's pressure on Kyrie too? I mean look not win at Milwaukee or even a Boston type of level but to to prove that you can be the man on a team that wins with his group. Life is three months. Three plus months left in the regular season. What kind of pressure to think is on? What should the expectations be for the nets team with Kairouan? I I think there's a difference between pressure. I think there's a there's differentiating factors between pressure between expectations between goals In what this team is trying to do and I think obviously with Kyrie back. I do think it's such a major factor. Curiously vert being back is well. I think the fact that those to their time coincided together being out is something to take note of the fact. That liver wasn't playing as well. I think this team believes I'm not sure. You know looking at the standings looking to schedule. How much time is left can? Can you end up catching their in? What the should have this up the eighth eighth eighth spot. Now right behind the spot stinks like the The seven seven there in the seventh seventh just moved to Ha- but they were but I think theoretically your five year about five games out of the six. I think you look at you. Know Five Games six year. Actually see your eight games behind number three Miami so looking at Toronto theoretically goes your way too I mean how would who's like ten or eleven in that spot? I mean how far they behind Kaga was ten. Charlotte is nine so you got Charlotte. Charlotte is nine and they tear in the All Star Team Charlotte in their five games behind seven police. Therefore they're they're the four and a half games behind Orlando so some wiggle room there. I mean I think it obviously think about making the playoffs but I think he I think you theoretically make you still in your heads I think you you. I don't know what pressure you would look at her. Expectations should be but that four spot is that four spot available that four spot open to. You might be like you. But that's my point like I. I'm not sure internally Where the goals would be set at this point. I think it's less about less about standings less about where you land in the east more about. Are we improving team? Are we collectively get all of your questions? That are still questions of. What is our offense? Look like how was our ball movement. How are we making sure that we're balancing out? We have a now this this depth of player. We looked Kenny Atkinson. Who was looking for bodies before and now he's able to comfortably go ten deep in his rotation How do we make sure everyone is playing at their best?.

"Elite team because <Speech_Female> we didn't they do this last <Speech_Female> year. I feel like like <Speech_Female> I've heard this story before. <Speech_Female> This is kind of what the jazz <Speech_Female> do they get off to a slow <Speech_Female> start. They <Speech_Female> hang in there. They <Speech_Female> make some kind of an adjustment <Speech_Music_Female> and then they go on a run <Speech_Music_Female> and <SpeakerChange> this run <Speech_Music_Female> of course has been <Speech_Music_Female> propelled by <Speech_Music_Female> a really soft schedule <Speech_Music_Female> here not to <Speech_Music_Female> take anything away from it. <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> But only <Speech_Music_Female> one of the teams <Speech_Music_Female> as they beat <Speech_Music_Female> has a winning record <Speech_Music_Female> in this run here. <Speech_Music_Female> But they've been really good. <Speech_Music_Female> Since Jordan Clarkson <Speech_Music_Female> joined the team <Speech_Music_Female> because he stabilize <Speech_Music_Female> that their <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> offense there he gives <Speech_Music_Female> them a really good <Speech_Music_Female> option when Donovan <Speech_Music_Female> <Advertisement> Mr comes off the floor <Speech_Music_Female> Mike. <Speech_Music_Female> Allen was better than <Speech_Music_Female> a than during in <Speech_Music_Female> Clarkson playing with Donovan <Speech_Music_Female> Mitchell but <Speech_Music_Female> Jordan Clarkson is <Speech_Music_Female> way better than Mike <Speech_Music_Female> Conley Win Donovan <Speech_Music_Female> Mitchell off the floor <Speech_Music_Male> and they really <SpeakerChange> need <Speech_Music_Male> that extra get. <Speech_Music_Male> They need an injection of <Speech_Music_Male> life off the bench president. Actually <Speech_Music_Male> they've done this now commonly <Speech_Music_Male> plenty plenty of these Games <Speech_Music_Male> visa credit to Quin Snyder. <Speech_Music_Male> Who by the way? I don't think <Speech_Music_Male> the jazz are leading. <Speech_Music_Male> The West <Speech_Music_Male> has elite hair. <Speech_Music_Male> Don't forget that is where <Speech_Music_Male> the best guys in the League on <Speech_Music_Male> the coach real real <Speech_Music_Male> cutting <Speech_Music_Male> green. This bench has improved <Speech_Male> tremendously in so many <Speech_Male> different ways and I got credit <Speech_Male> snyder for keeping <Speech_Male> together when their main guy point <Speech_Male> guard. He's <Speech_Male> he's been. He's a great <Speech_Male> coach. <Speech_Male> Brought at <Speech_Male> home in league life alone. <Speech_Male> Yeah Riccar <Speech_Male> see tremendously in so many <Speech_Male> different ways and I got credit <Speech_Male> snyder for keeping <Speech_Male> together when their main guy point <Speech_Male> guard. He's <Speech_Male> he's been. He's a great <Speech_Male> coach. <Speech_Male> Brought at <Speech_Male> home in league life alone. <Speech_Male> Yeah Riccar <Speech_Male> see and <Speech_Male> it feels like defensively. <Speech_Male> They've kind of gotten <Speech_Male> back to their <SpeakerChange> identity <Speech_Female> on that end to <Speech_Female> also have been getting <Speech_Female> a lot from bogdanor minutes right <Speech_Female> at thirty five the night <Speech_Female> They're <Speech_Male> seven and one when he goes <Speech_Male> for more than thirty and eleven <Speech_Female> and one when he goes for twenty <Speech_Music_Female> five more. He's <Speech_Music_Female> this is the guy that when <Speech_Music_Female> we were all doing <Speech_Music_Male> our picks for the <Speech_Music_Male> preseason right <Speech_Music_Male> why would the <Speech_Music_Female> jazz gonNA run away with <Speech_Music_Female> the Western Conference with his <Speech_Music_Female> team is because they <Speech_Music_Male> got Bogdanovich <SpeakerChange> and <Speech_Music_Male> he's really shown up the last <Speech_Male> two years ago they were <Speech_Music_Male> supposed to be fantastic <Speech_Music_Male> and they were. They took a step <Speech_Music_Male> back last year. I think they're back <Speech_Music_Male> to where they could. That'd <Speech_Music_Male> be <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> all right time for our league <Speech_Male> past game of the <Speech_Male> night it's <SpeakerChange> sixers <Speech_Music_Male> and Pacers. <Speech_Music_Male> The sixers lost <Speech_Music_Male> in India by eighteen <Speech_Music_Male> points two weeks ago <Speech_Music_Male> and then lost <Speech_Music_Male> five straight on <Speech_Music_Male> the road. Joel embiid <Speech_Music_Male> is still out recovering from <Speech_Music_Male> finger surgery but <Speech_Music_Male> he was on the court <Speech_Music_Male> for the majority of <Speech_Music_Male> losing streaks of both <Speech_Music_Male> the modest bonus <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> Malcolm Brogdon <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> or questionable Clinton is <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> tonight a big game <Speech_Music_Male> for the sixers or Pacers. <Speech_Music_Male> It's a bigger game <Speech_Music_Male> for the Pacers for sure. <Speech_Music_Male> They beat the Bulls <Speech_Music_Male> without Savona <Speech_Music_Male> Zandbergen. which was a pretty <Speech_Male> good

"To the Rim and those are minor things like you know that they're looking for a little upgrade and the at the point guard is no that they could use another big man I'm to help defensively in that role so I think those are things that will be addressed as they approach the trade deadline season but also the buyout market Aging Darren Collison talk right but he's a big rebounding guys. "In fact, can we do little runningback with K D? Oh, yeah. And Kyrie because they had some romance moments at the all star game. I personally think they were like leaning in to all the speculation about them because they were not secretive at all they were videotaped talking in the hallway of the spectrum center. Right. I'll do it. I'll do it. Kyrie was the only player dick around for katie's entire all star ceremony. Right. Look at him. He's right there. I have there's the video and finally photo was posted of Katie and Kyrie together with the caption, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving spotted in Miami restaurant together eyeballs eyeballs little jar. So I don't know if that was like a Katy standing in the kyri standing evidence. I don't believe them. They say they don't like it the speculation. I just I mean, they'll sit there and say, well, I can't talk to my friend and hallway. I just don't buy it. Enjoy it. We talking about this question. That will ever know. Thanks a lot right there. Some things that I didn't know about. You were you were taken aback by the trophy presentation. Take him back about it yet. It's the trophy presentation. And those guys meet in the hallway and Miami is it's in it's in but to answer this question, Boston, the uncertainty of the Boston player this being a distraction off season. I don't think so I think maybe it was distraction up until the trade deadline now that's over and going, you know, with the whole Anthony Davis. I mean, we knew nothing was going to happen with Celtics because they couldn't do anything. They had to get rid of career. If they wanted to make that trade that wasn't gonna happen. So with that over and done with these guys are really just concentrating on trying to get back to the type of ball. They were playing last season. And in better player questions out. You've talked about before that you gotta know the guys in the locker room with you. Right. Are you with us or whatever? And that I think maybe that's where some of the outside churn. And what Kerry was talking about the end there that media has broken up locker rooms the idea that if there isn't enough direct conversation, and that's why I said, I think he's being premature. He's a if there isn't a direct conversation. Some guy reads on this phone, hey, KAI de que D And Kyrie we're spotted having dinner them, right? But the and then they read that and they don't say anything, and then kyri doesn't say anything. And then there's that. Are you really with us thing going on right, right? And that's why pre sheet him being so. Ended and open about it. And does base in San if I'm these guys read this, and I don't go to them and talk some about this situation west being put out there, then yes, it could be a distraction. But getting from what he's talking about that he is having these of these guys and not in the Lao that to be a distraction to the see I don't think it's about off-season uncertainty about in-season uncertainty. It's very clear that these guys don't have a precise understanding or a precise acceptance of their roles, I mean, look this is one of the best defensive teams in the league in the question that plagues the Celtics right now is how can they be elite offense of team because they are they're gonna win a ton of games down the stretch. They're gonna win twenty to twenty five and right now that that sort of the challenge for for Brad Stevens, no line is the sky for the last eight we've spoken about him. In terms reserved only for Gregg Popovich. And this is I wheel challenge. Not just on the challenges the challenges having read how do you insert Kyriacos? It is because when cowry is out there Roseau are clearly identify and how these guys play they play like they played last year without Barry just went Correa's in the lineup. Okay. Now, what do we do? How do we play our style of basketball when Carolina if you saw the last game they play when he was out. I mean, they were phenomenal..

"And then when he asked out I initially was like, man Kyrie's the worst. But then I don't know why people resist this because win horses talked about it. David Griffin has talked about it. I've talked about it. And that kyri found. Wait a minute. You had me trade it out of here like peace. I'm going to do my own thing. And I I don't know if people like this or not so you tell me Rudy if it's off base, but I do think there because my life, I know myself better than any other person. I talk about I know how I fell in the Scott and Ryan dynamic like, I know what that was like, and there are kind of even the ones for more impressive in difficult and cooler than two guys doing radio show. But when I first did the show with Scott, nobody else wanted me to be his partner management in want me to be the guy. They wanted to be Erica silliest somebody that they really wanted to be the host of it was Stephen A at times, I think they even try to go like herbstreet Fowler. And you know, of course, they didn't want me because you know, at the time I was in management is a nobody like we're going to do this. And that's why they didn't put my name on the show because they didn't want. They felt like that would actually hurt the show with sales which I always thought with short term, but many program decisions specially radio very short term decisions. And ultimately MC my argument. Was like, yeah. But if you just my name on the show now like in four years, it's not gonna be weird like we can build this thing. And it was like, no. So I'll give a man of Brown was our first producer who's actually out here. Seven ten ESPN. Now she wanted me on it Scotland. Ultimately, Scott wanted me on Scott's like look you guys can vote for everybody else and have the vote. The only vote that really matters is the guy that's going to do it every day. And if you want me to do it with somebody, I don't wanna do it with then guess what? I don't have to do it. I can just stand sportscenter, and that's gonna go pretty well too. So they gave him Scott, and I had to have meetings with the principal and sell myself after I'd been at the company for three plus years already. And if you're Scott, you will always kind of look at me as like if it wasn't for me Ryan wouldn't have made it or wouldn't be what he is today. And that might be a hundred percent, okay. And I'm sure people listening to be like, what do you mean might be one hundred percent true in Scott believes that who's gonna tell Scott that he's wrong? And there were times Scott would remind. Me of that. I look at it is I think good at what I do. And if it wasn't gonna be that it would have been something else. Eventually, I would have been successful. And I think that's true. I think both are true Scott helped me, and I also believe in myself. And so not to say Scott is LeBron I'm kyri. But there are some similarities of the dynamic of one person feeling like they're in charge of the one person feeling. The other person's sort of owes it to that person. And for kyri. He's like, dude, I'm nasty. Okay. I can go do my own thing. And I want my own team. Especially after I feel like you may have shipped me out of here for somebody else, but the deal fell through and LeBron and his crew were like, look your signature shoe and Nike that's because of us, dude. That's because of us your ascension to the next year wherever you are at the non defensive high volume score that was going to be the leader on awful teams. We'll have fun with that have fun getting twenty five game winning thirty. Will now with us. You hit the shot against the warriors in one of the greatest comebacks ever considering the warriors were that year. And now, you're just you're forever. Your legacy like there's a floor. You can't go below now because of what we did together. So yeah, you're nasty. Yeah. You're all these things..

"And there shouldn't be any pointing fingers, and we gotta be beyond that. And what have you four and Kyrie Irving to take step back and reflect upon about how he might choose to handle things because everybody doesn't receive at the same. Then he goes on the court last night put the dagger in a Toronto Raptors with that twenty twenty eight foot three from beyond the free throw lobby the arc over Kawhi Leonard. I might add. Kyrie Irving shows oppose gay. And essentially says air. I understand. Now. I understand now. I've always been somebody to defend it. Cari, because I think he has a right to have that attitude. He had a right to sit up and say, look, I want more than what I'm getting here Cleveland. But there is no doubt that shade was thrown in the direction of the broad Jay's because I know for me personally. And I've said this on national television you Dan, right? I'm looking at LeBron. Because if you're the star and people don't want to play with you. That's a problem. That's a problem. And I'm not gonna completely absolve anybody from that. When you are the superstar, you gotta ingratiate yourself for Gaza enough where they want to be around you. They wanna be teammates with you. They want to go to war with you. They want win with you. They don't mind losing with you all of those things matter. But you know, what Kyrie's words meant last night. Maybe a lot of us were too hard on the Brian James. That would include me. I probably myself would be a fairly this gentleman. I just in an apartment circumstances or maintaining a position because it's good TV or radio, whatever. I don't have a damn about any of that. Right. Is right wrong is wrong. I tell you what I believe in feel based on the evidence. According to me, but I'll tell you this. When car we said that last night I found myself looking at LeBron a little bit differently. I found myself looking like looking at LeBron like he was somewhat of a victim. You got the world rested on your shoulders. You've answered the challenge, you know, what you're going for you went back to Cleveland to a race a curse that spent a half century. And after fifty two year drought of a championship in any sport. In the city Cleveland, you would have one that ended that data Browns. Could it win? The Cavs couldn't win the Indians couldn't win Heff. All we know your monitor league team couldn't win. But still in all you go back and you were race. The curse that had plagued that area and brought a championship to it. That's what you did. Lebron James and in order to do that you needed help from guys you had to bring Gaza long. Could you have done things a little bit differently? I'm sure nobody's perfect. But when Cari said what he said yesterday it highlighted for me as a reminder of how difficult it is to lead how difficult it is to galvanize troops how difficult it is to get everybody to be on the same page and the do two things that need to be done. So we can all flourish. That's what Cari Irvine and saying LeBron James did for him. Now might be self serving. Because as my max Kellerman pointed out this morning on I take ten AM to noon eastern time seven to nine AM Pacific. He said, hey, it's definitely self-serving to some degree because Karis probably saying to his teammates. Look what I'm acknowledging about. Lebron one day. You'll find yourself acknowledging about me if you're smart enough to listen to what I'm trying to tell you because I'm trying to win a chip. And as we're on this subject. Let's go step further. And ask ourselves why the urgency, of course, it's the middle of the season. Of course, every season counts. Of course tomorrow is not promised all of those things are true. But here's the reason why. If your career oven. Not only are you trying to win a championship because you wanna championship you might be trying to win a championship now because you might be leaving. Because you remember what Kyrie Irving said to those fans in Boston prior to the season. I would love to stay here. And I'm looking forward to having a law proper prosperous Korean paraphrase, it a role prosperous career here. If you will have me, well me, ladies and gentlemen, you know, what that means. You're gonna give you the max, I'm here if you not maybe that..

"Leadership is realizing that less can be more and he's gotten back publicly from guy like Jalen Brown. Who came out? And basically said we can't be pointing fingers at starts from top to bottom not from bottom to top a public shot back at a guy we've seen these sort of clashes between the young guard and the old guard you can look back at the Chicago Bulls from a few years ago. We had some of the things that went on there with a guy like regime Rondo taking the side of the younger players who were warring with the Dwayne Wade's and Jimmy Butler is of the world to now this, and I think Jalen Brown having the guts to speak up publicly about this into sort of fire a shot back across the bow reminding them, we're listening, and we did some things without you last year. That's the other thing about this young group in Boston is kyri Irving was not there in the playoffs last year. And this young Boston groups still almost took that LeBron James lead Cleveland team to the brink of extinction in the Eastern Conference finals they have that to fall back on. They may not be champions. But they're not a bunch of slouches either. That's the other side of this for that group. And so for Kyrie Irving, it's easy to get up here and have fun Kyrie's expense. Kyrie's guy who has given us a lot. And he himself said after the game last night. And there was draw sums it up pretty perfectly with the NBA with a little drama kyri is provided us with that Cairo has been opening and maybe a little too giving of his truth as I sit here and put the former athlete cap on and operate in that room that was something I was never fully comfortable with. I don't think the outside world deserves all of your truth. If you're moving now as a media member, I am truly appreciative of it. And I pray that kyri never stops with a lot of this. But for the continued development of Kyrie Irving, the leader. I am willing to admit that at times because of some of the flatter theory stuff. And because he's a guy who is a little more verbose when he gets the microphone in front of his face. I think it creates. An idea that probably isn't fair to the leader in the teammate. Kyrie Irving actually is or can be going forward because this at least demonstrate some ability to listen and learn you just hope it sticks. Like, this sounds good as number soundbite. Now, you gotta see the proof in the pudding. Now, you got to see a little less said in public at this point, a little more understanding of what this team actually may need behind closed doors, and we'll wait and see if they're going to get it first and last podcast. Indeed knows finding the right hire takes.

"We got to start with the NBA stars of today. Kyri Irving every time I hear a quote from Kyrie Irving, I resist the same urge which is to get up and talk about how much kyri clearly loves to hear kyri talk. Kyrie Irving Celtics star point guard, obviously, former Cleveland cavalier and a guy who left the familiar confines of Cleveland, while lebrons James was still there in an effort to get out from under the umbrella, the shadow whatever you wanna call it of the player that had dominated and has dominated the NBA landscape for the better part of a decade and a half. Now since he burst onto the scene and for Kyrie Irving at that time, I think we could all understand the desire in the hunger of a young player to come out and prion prove himself a guy who wanted to be a leader. But there's a difference between wanting it and getting it and going along with the things that come with that one. You get there. Now, Cairo Irving in a moment of clarity in a moment of self reflection. Has finally realized that to an extent now I still had to resist the same urge in the same reaction. When I heard a lot of these comments come out last night. Kyrie Irving who had been very critical of some of his younger teammates in public throughout the course of the season had set on multiple occasions that this team is lacking quality veteran peace, and that these young players don't really understand that at this point in a lot of it felt patronizing and a lot of it felt like Kyrie Irving was speaking from a position that maybe wasn't wholly earned yet or at the very least felt unnatural. But you do remember the LeBron James of that era in Cleveland talking about fitting out not fitting in and all these other very public shots at Kevin love and Kyrie Irving at some of the other younger. Cavaliers at that point. Lebron James who had already been a multiple time champion from his time in Miami. At that point LeBron James who it operates in a different stratosphere, even then than Kyrie Irving does. Now that was before the Cleveland championship that LeBron will tell you made him the greatest of all time with that being said, kyri Irving, I thought it was interesting enough that he did mention. After last night's win over the raptors they won seventeen one eight win for the Celtics that he did call and reach out to LeBron James after what happened in Orlando on Monday and apologized for. In your played. I wanted to everything. Fingertips. I wanted everything to be at my threshold. I wanted to be the guy that let us change leader. I wanted to be on that. And you know, the responsibility of being a best player in the world leading the team is something that's not meant for many people. Brown was one of those guys that came to Cleveland and tried to show us what it's like to win a championship. And it was hard for him. Sometimes get the most out of the group. It's not the easiest thing in the world. And like, I said only fewer or mid for chosen Florida. And you know, I feel like the best person called him because you know, he's been.

"Yes and it's bigger than that i stay it's more like i will go but where and his decision will undoubtedly affect others when he joins a new team if he goes to boston reunite with kyrie irving how would that land kyri said quote in this business i've kind of experienced at all and i've seen a lot so we'll see what management decides stephen should lebron really considered reuniting with kyrie in boston i just don't think he will you know they can look the same way i looked at katie when he left focus okay see and went to go to state he leaving cleveland going to boston that's kind of the same thing but i don't see lebron going to boston i don't see him going against the team that he just being i'm just i don't see the braun doing that i mean i don't see how it happened real response was that way because he sees everything happened in a bid is any understands this situation that i don't control all i control this plan basketball and getting health and being ready to play he understands that that's what he's staying with me personally i don't think the brian will go there went to boston you look at that you said it'd be the same as katie going to golden state yeah because it's the same i'm not saying like at the same katie went to better taming and lebron's going to better but he's going to teammate he's been competing against at the same thing different hobbies the golden had beaten oklahoma city in this cleveland beating them i here's the thing i think lebron going to boston however unlikely is possible but if it's possible wouldn't be to play with kyrie kyrie would be the peace that leaves like they can't sign them outright they have to either trade gordon hayward cairo irving but the thing is this if you trade gordon hayward to bring in lebron you're essentially also trading kyrie 'cause kyri will leave a year if you trade kyri gordon hayward under contract for the next three like you you get to keep both of them so i think it is in play i'd say boston's like the fifth most likely option lebron goes there but it wouldn't be to be reunited with kyrie it would be involved in a trade that involves kyrie of all the teams in.
