"Josh Hard after Adams tipped it out to him, Kyra Lewis with the shot clock it 14 using a high screen lot for the rim, Zion crabs and flushes as the pelicans go up 1 12 88 here in the fourth impressive game for Zion, but it's Brandon Ingram, who leads the way with this season. I 36 pelicans with their first win against the Lakers since February of 2019 mate lost Seven straight Magic Lakers. Of course, short handed the game was here on ESPN Radio. Mark Chester Suren, PJ Colosimo. Add the call for us Mark. J. Thank you very much. Lakers have now lost three in a row. P. J. This is two full games without LeBron James. Really two and three quarters. If you go back to his injury on Friday night against Atlanta, they get bounced in New Orleans and as they head home, we don't know when these big stars we're gonna come back either LeBron or Anthony Davis? Well, it's one thing to lose 40% of your starting lineup. It's another thing to lose 40% of the first team. All NBA starting light up. That's what they have lost and short sample that we've seen major concern for Frank Vogel, where they're going to manufacture offense from. I think he could tie the defense together. There's no question about that there a lot of players out there that know how to defend. But Frank told us when we talked to him earlier this morning, testy that he thought they would miss LeBron more on the defensive end because he's the linebacker. He's the quarterback of the defense. He recognizes other teams plays. And he gets his players in the right position. They were not in the right position this evening. They didn't stop New Orleans at all. And they could manufacture very little On the offensive end. I would say major major concerns for the Lakers. They're tied for the 3rd and 4th spots Now with the Los Angeles Clippers, do you? You're not gonna make any rash decisions with your lineup, for example, may be making much as hairless starter instead of coming off the bench of center or do you just try to ride this out? Till a deacon come back, But they have cushion between that 34 spot and then looking down toward eight and 10 with just over half a little under half season to go. I don't think they're gonna fall out of the playoffs custody, but no, they may have to make some moves Be the answer to cop out. Answer is how long those two are going to be out if they're going to be out for weeks, which we're hearing and again, you hear from the outside. I mean, I know, coaching a lot of times you was a coach Don't know how long guys they're gonna be out. You're with the doctors you with the trainers to go high long and they kind of give you the palms up to go. Hey, I don't know We're going to treat him and it's gonna be a question of how they respond now. LeBron is a whole different person in terms of how he responds to injuries. But no, they may have to make some serious moves right now in terms of changing the lineup because they got to find a way. To be more competitive, and the problem is when you ratchet it up and you push players up a couple of positions guys that he used to be in the 3rd 4th and 5th best player. Now I got to go against the best players on the other teams. It's a problem, so I think they very well may have to figure out what's the best line. You know. It's almost like we're starting all over. It's the beginning of the year. How we gonna win games with this roster. On then worry later, when LeBron and a D come back then you put the other players back in the position where they were. I don't think this is a situation where you You're worried about your rotation or keeping guys in her off the bench coming off the bench. You're worried about being competitive right now. If that means putting mine president starting lineup that I think Frank Vogel will do that. Lakers, now owing three without LeBron James this year is only the fourth game without both James and Anthony Davis. They've dropped three out of four in those games..

"You're a bigger your defender and the offensive player comes into you not runs you over but comes into you. If you're on the floor, it's a foul if you jump up and maintain your verticality Referees won't blow the foul. But that's just good offense by Denny Shooter Right there. Sugar hits the first of two yet Dennis already in his eighth season, Jackson Hes totally season number two. He'll learn Pelicans been nice job there. Talent developing them. The big question is, do they make a move at the trade deadline in either direction is both free throws go down. I can't believe you keep hearing about Lonzo ball by the glands. Oh ball, playing as well as he's played since his commended elite agree Lonzo ball They've talked about JJ Reddick, who has been injured, not playing tonight, dealing with a heel injury who are loved every night. JJ Reddick, is it? I'll tell you what. He's a great piece on the team. No question. 15 seconds to go in the third big pelicans leave Brandon Ingram limits spots from the right side shoots and scores. He can't miss here in this third quarter. Brandon Ingram is upto 33 points. Just matched his season high. PJ is the pelicans lead 1 to 73 th team for three buries it with 2.9 left in the third. A Give it to tht great feed download for McKinney and whistle is he went up for the ball. It trails across and out of bounds. We get a foul on that call or not? Looks like that was just tipped out of bounds. BJ. I don't think so. I think what it was was good team officiating. Shawn Corbin on the baseline was screamed and he had to look out to Scott Foster for help. Now we have a foul on the in bound. It was ah, Lobb toward the rim, and on the week left side. We had a call against New Orleans. And this will be side in for the Lakers as Kyra Lewis gets called for the personal, his 2nd 3rd team foul of the quarter against New Orleans. Inbound was intended for Taylor important, Tucker goes off the legs of Alexander Walker out of bounds at the All hyphenated game going on Right now, way might go initials. Pretty soon I'm going with tht th t lining up the three from on top. No good. Heyes has the long rebound for the palace. Los Angeles is cooled off from downtown. Kill Alexander Walker. Nice spin, move and drive Nice wraparound pass to Hayes, who got act under the basket. This time, the foul called and he'll get to the line. They got some really good young talent Stand bang gun, because obviously we know about Zion. But guys who they we don't hear a lot about you mentioned Jackson Hayes, who's going to the line right now and hire a Louis looks like a hit. And the kill Alexander Walker in his second year has been tremendous is Hazel. "Nope, It's going to be Markieff Morris Holding on the wing. You'll find mantra is Harold Baseline Right against the tall Jackson Hayes puts it on the deck against Hayes into the lane floating shot, not their rebound tip by West Matthews but controlled by the pills. Jackson. He's going coast to coast delivers the past nearly lost by Kyra Lewis. But Zion comes up with it in scores two. He's got 10 Kyra Lewis caught behind the backboard. He didn't have a shot, but he knew to throw it to 30 to 29 pelicans. Now have the lead 25 seconds to go in this first quarter, eight straight points by the Pels Here is Mark IV. Moore's missing an air ball on a three and that will give the last shot of the quarter to the pelicans. Caddy here. He had the wrong club there that had no chance of getting to the rim. Zion Williamson 11th quarter points, dribbling the clock down to six. Down to five. He's on the three point arc down before now explodes to the left hand, puts it off the glass missed it with half a second ago, rebounded by the Lakers. PJ's IA came off the bench for the last few minutes and lead the pills to this lead after one he did. We've got a really attractive game in terms of offense. You got two unhappy coaches because Frank Vogel and stamping Gundy Really preach defense. They can't like the way it's going. We've got ourselves an entertaining night. 10 points for cyanide off the bench for mantra is Harold after one. The pelicans 32, the Lakers 29. This is the N B, A on ESPN radio presented by indeed. Make sure that Zion doesn't punch it in on the Blazers and maybe punch them out for the night. 99 85. Re throws coming coach. The pelicans have 48 points in the paint now three quarters into the game. When I added the points up for three games they played since the All Star game. I thought I was wrong. They have 208 136 advantage for the first three games. They're averaging 69. Their opponents are averaging 45, but it's because they just attack the rim. They missed. They get an offensive rebound. It's incredible. I mean, ages live in the paint, and you can't stop him. You're making that up. I don't believe I wish I were. Second free throw good. Got on both hands done A good job. Breath into the lane, muscling the Louis grabbed on the arm and fouled pulled to the floor. By Kyra Lewis. They got a chance to score some points. That's been a big factor in the game. Warns that a much better job converting off the Portland turnovers in Portland has with New Orleans turns the ball over that hurt him into third. They had a couple of opportunities where We got to turn over, just went down and couldn't put the ball in the basket. Was free Throw good. I'm going to start looking up Portland free throw records there. 22 23 Now 23.

Lonzo Ball got it started The points in the paint with Zion Williamson on the Clippers just never got untracked defensively. New Orleans does finished with 72 points in the paint. They're high had been 74. It looked like a team that just wanted it simply more than the other. The Clippers got off to a horrible start on this pelican team play well, give credit. Certainly played great offensively in that first quarter, but their defense much improved as it wasn't in Cleveland a couple nights ago and be a trend that Stan Van Gundy would love to see. There is New Orleans group that's tuna roll. We'll see if it travels to Portland. The pelicans have their next two games in Portland, then a game in Denver. Yeah, terrific. Offensively, That's not been their problem. Throughout this season. They get 1 15 a game. It's the other end, and they've done the job defensively as they forced seven turnovers for the L. A Clippers. Guarded the three point line on this was the way they have to play. If they want to make some noise here in the Western Conference, and No JJ Reddick for the pelicans, he's still out where they are right. He'll issue. In fact, he's not even in New Orleans. He's our rehabbing in New York City. How big of a lost Patrick Beverley, especially on the defensive end for the Clippers tonight? Yeah, he's the head of the snake. There's no doubt about it, you know past if you will. He's not on this three game road trip is Marcus Morris 15 footer to open the second quarter, Mrs for the Clippers. Elegance will rush from right to left with their second unit to kill Alexander Walker, leading it from the right will get a screen from Jackson. No good and two free throws coming for Terence Mann. That's now eight turnovers for New Orleans. Does Alexander Walker seems to come up lame here? Oh, yeah, really in pain in front of the New Orleans batch. I did not see him go down, but he's reaching toward that right ankle foot area lower right leg that he could barely put any pressure on. Lonzo ball will take off. His warm up to come back in there watching on the offensive set. That's where it might have happened. He ate, grimaced and pain on that pick and roll with Hayes on the right side. Yeah, he planted with the right foot and rolled it over just a little, but A little is enough to take him back to the locker room He had to be helped to. He had his arm around to folks who are helping him. Take some pressure off that right leg is We get a view is a camera in that well. As he heads back to the locker of free throws. Good for man, both of them 36 26 10 point lead pelicans Kyra Lewis blows in from the right floats it up in and out. No good soup pots, the rebound. Give it to Paul George, who's running with the second unit, George, using the high zoo pot screen gets to the elbow jumpers. Good for PG 13. We gotta get him going just two of five. PG He and Kwai with a combo of 12 right now. Years. Ion going strong to the hole. Nice job by robots to hang in there. The other way comes Man Rushes front court gives it up to George right back to man who wasn't quite ready for it and on his lot back to George's tip by Kyra Louis into the backcourt, But the Clippers retain it up ahead to George Turns shoots the three. It's a Miss and Zion has the rebound. You have nine from three are the Clippers best shooting Team three pointer in the league. Kyra Lewis of three from the right corner. Mrs. Offensive reborn. Jackson Hayes. And one is he sticks it back in from the weak side, but great timing by Hayes. Right there is you bots doesn't understand the call. You thought he had his arms straight up. Boy time that rebound perfectly. Looked like he was going to go up too early. It gets it and you bots. No, I'm sorry. Zoop. You had your head your hands work straight up. Jackson Hayes completes the three point play Pelicans back with an 11 point lead. Lou Williams out on me Left perimeter, little pick and roll of the tomb of flushes with two hands. Great cut by Batum that Find from Lou. Love. But Tim Looking good at age 32 in injury plagued season last year in Charlotte on now, whistle time out here or Standing Gundy calls for time in the middle of the offensive possession. Hoping he liked where his team was setting up this time. So stand band will reset the pelicans and we'll take a time out with 10 09 to go..
What's going on with the New Orleans Pelicans?
"This year's deputy f team the new orleans pelicans. I don't know what baker this team you can catch them on any given night and it's a completely different experience than the last night. I don't know if the players make sense together. Actually i'm pretty sure they don't. I don't really know what the overall philosophy is. I don't know if they're trying to be a playoff team if they're trying to be rebuilding. I'm just constantly confused and there are some optimism because they want a couple of games around people here they go here. Zion and then they get killed last night by the bulls and have one hundred thousand breakdowns. And i guess my first question to you is the pelicans what the fuck you. How many exclamation points can we tack onto that. Wt fd think. But i was hoping you could answer this question. Because i think you're spot on in that it's so much depends your view of this team on when you catch them even just like what stage in the season. You caught them because for a minute. It looked like they were going to live up to their personnel and be a tough minded offensive team. Scrounging out offensive rebounds to get points and just kinda struggling on that in because they're spacing issues the script has completely flipped. And now this is all of a sudden very competent offense. I think park has really driven by brandon. Ingram is i ion williamson. They're making that part of it work but the defense. Jesus christ i mean it is. There is inconsistent defensively as really any team out there. Yeah i would say other than brooklyn. It's the team that's most likely to give up one hundred forty on any given night to any team. That knows what they're doing. I so if you actually look at their stats and you haven't been watching that much and you look at the stats and you look at williamson in ingram and all right. Those guys are having good years pretty efficient. And then you look at lonzo and you look at bledsoe. Lonzo shoot thirty seven percent from three so she and forty percent so going into the season like well. Their guards can't shoot. They're not going to be able to have enough space. Well their guards are actually shooting. Okay but then. When i watch everybody together. I don't have a five-man line-up that i liked like yesterday. They're playing Kyra lewis with He he got a little more run and he's really interesting. Rookies really fast. He's little darren foxy and gave them an energy that i was like. Well maybe this. Maybe i would like this version of the pelicans more. If fast you know now unleash sign a little bed. Go up and down a little bit more. But i still don't know who the other two teammates would be with cairo. Lewis design and branding. And i guess the fundamental question for me is do zion and brandon. Ingram makes sense together on a team. That's actually trying to win the title. I think they make sense on offense but the question was i on really broadly. As who are you going to put the five that's gonna make up for all. He doesn't do defensively right now. That's always been my issue with the idea of playing small and we are putting him at the five his rotations is. Aren't there really the pelicans as a team. If i were an opposing coach. I would say this is a team. We can beat him rotation every they are. Pass away from defensive breakdown every time out on the floor and keep moving the ball. You keep doing what you're supposed to do they will they will mess up in a whether it's undersized guy in the corner doesn't quite rotate over all the way. Jj radic or josh. Hart they try hard. They do what they can. But they're not equipped to be helped rotation defenders. If a guy like zion isn't going to be one so i mean i'm i'm kinda bullish on the anger rooms ion depot in general but i am really struggling to see how you put together those lineups. I can see how they kind of got into this conundrum where they clearly wanted to have some veterans early. Some veterans fell into their lap in terms of what was available and trying to get some pics and make their other moves but long term. It's a weird team to build with. And then you get lonzo into this conversation to and what they want to do with him. It's it's kind of messy.

"Selected by Milwaukee will end up in New Orleans and Fonz like Lamell, Oh, ball at American Kid who skipped college and light ball went over two of the Australian lead the NBL, and it's 65 ends up. We'll end up eventually with the pelicans. Yes, indeed and that and he'll be really rock solid for the pelicans. He's got an explosive first step and is terrific in transition. He's at his best when he's driving and kicking two shooters. The area of his game that he needs to grow in is in most areas. He's really good, but he's not elite in anything, but he's a well rounded player. Horse left New Zealand or at least his team in February and again, Um he's had a long time to wait for his opportunity. In the end before I was going to come a little quicker in June, like everybody else had to wait a few more months had to wait a couple of hours here tonight, actually, 2.5 hours before finding out his faith. Well, similar situation of coal Anthony and that prior to him going to Australia and his season being cut short by injury. The projections for this young man were much higher. The cop from what I understand it. The MBA is Jerrick white. Who is a developing garden San Antonio system. He's got to get tougher, right. He's gonna be able to finish better than he has and toughness, physicality on the defensive end. But I'm curious to see because they say that first step is just like you watch him on taken. I mean, he is by guys in a quick second and P. J. This is New Orleans now loading up with a couple of guards right there. Kyra Lewis there, pick back at 13. Yeah, two of the quickest guards in the whole draft. They have. I'll tell you what he's got to learn to shoot the ball. Better. Bad luck for both him and Lamell. Oh, because they both go. They play in the N B l in Australia both get injured. RJ only played 15 games also, and I think it's one of the reasons we see now the D League team. You know the option Two players have now that don't want to go outside the country and don't want to go to college. They can play for Brian Shaw's J League teams. So RJ Hampton. It was really kind of. Ah, difficult you to evaluate him. The numbers don't jump out at you. But in truth, he only ended up playing 15 games. It was tough, so everybody knows what he's capable of doing. But he's gonna have to improve with the ball, putting it in the basket and another won't bomb As we talk about RJ Hampton, he was selected by Milwaukee for New Orleans and now watch is reporting that the pelicans selected Hampton. For the Denver Nuggets. So RJ Hampton will end up with Denver at number 24. Oklahoma City has the pick at 25. We told you about the Knicks Timberwolves trade a couple of picks ago that landed New York the 25 in the 33 so this will end up in New York. Here's the commissioner Adam Silver. 25th pick in the 2020 NBA draft, The Oklahoma City Thunder Select a manual quickly from the University of Kentucky. Annual quickly going at number 25 funds. That wasn't a guy that necessarily folks had in the back end of round one, but a second Kentucky guard off the board now? Yeah, I recent, actually got much of the attention because of these big games shots that he made, including against Michigan State with the Deep three. But Emmanuel quickly was the most consistent offensive player on that team. The ability to shoot deep threes. He's really good catch and shoot. Has a nice pull up can get to the rim. The areas of this game. A lot like to see him improve is when he gets in the gap being able to make the right decision to put the past on the hands of the shooter waiting at the three point line, But I love his defense of toughness as well be Geno you like when the writers and broadcasters select players of the year, but the league's coaches select him as the SEC player of the year manual quickly. Well again. That's how you know how deep cows teams are, but I mean, first team, all SEC. And the SEC player of the year. So again, sometimes it's difficult. I think doors made the point when we were talking about Kentucky before there is so much talent. The pieces don't necessarily all fit together. Sometimes we don't get a chance to see them until they're in the league and you see what they're capable of a manual quickly can flat out play. You don't get those votes from the coaches unless you get it done, And he was very, very consistent for the Wildcats this year, Doris, I don't know if you who it was. Who said it that this wouldn't be the last Kentucky pick after Tyreese Maxie, but the latest in quickly Well, that was Peter. But it's you know, when we're talking about the New York Knicks before we said immediate need that the starting point guard position and obviously, you know, the emphasis is Tom Thibodeau takes over is you've got to develop these players. What do you have? An R? J. Barrett? You know what you have. And Mitchell Robinson on the defensive end of the floor. He's working very hard to develop his skills, but this was one immediate need for the New York Knicks on so be very interesting to see what this membranes but U es some time and they're gonna be about development. And P. J. We mentioned your Tom Fido is the new head coach in New York. But this is the first draft for the new president of their basketball operations. Leon Rose in New York is a manual quickly will end up at Madison Square Garden. Yeah, well, yeah. I think they're gonna like him. I think he fits Well in New York. Everybody doesn't enjoy playing there. Scotty. Perry knows that very, very well. They're they're GM. And again. There is a different brain trust there. Uh, you know, not an accident You got paid also is with the team. Hey was in Kentucky, So he knows this player. Very, very well. So this is not an accident. This isn't somebody They just settled on. This is somebody to pay, you know, had focused on and made it happen. There's a lot of connections. They're coming home to roost. DJs I look a J. Bilis is best available list. The man who is sitting right now Best available coming into the draft was Jaden McDaniels from Washington were sitting a 26 year for Boston. So Five more picks to go in the first round. So far, Jake McDaniels has not been selected. Well. Jake McDaniels had a difficult year to be selected from. He was very inconsistent. You know, I think he needs to grow up. If he grows up. The talent is unbelievable. He's got incredible talent and do anything with the ball. Could put it on the floor can score it, But he was too inconsistent. I mean, he led the Pac 12 in the wrong things. I think he was first or second in turnovers. You let him in files. He certainly led them in technical files. And U Dub had a horrendous year. That's with him. And I say, Stuart, they overachieve hops first two years and this year now, in fairness, losing quality green muscle tight Kentucky into this again, but the Kentucky transfer when quiet, I got injured. It really killed them, but Jane McDaniels was part of the reason that they struggled. If he gets his act together. There's no women toe what he can accomplish. Well, Emanuel quickly going at number 25, selected by Oklahoma City and after a trade will end up with the Knicks. The Celtics their second of three first round picks on the clock at number 26. Let's go a little earlier in the draft back to number seven, the Detroit Pistons Selected Killian Hayes, who was born in the U. S, grew up in France and is now headed to the motor City. Killian. Welcome Marquess to share PJ Carlesimo. Doris Burke Will Afonso Ellis with you, Killian. Congratulations on heading to the Pistons. I know you wanted to come over earlier in your high school career to play over here in the U. S. Hoping to place in collegiate basketball, but you opted to stay in France before coming over. How excited are you now to get this opportunity to play in the NBA? I mean, you want me to Rachel the make the right choices of staying in Europe and started playing professional the radiation Right now I see that all the working the sacrifices that I made eight on me. I got drafted by the before. I'm really excited. Everybody on the super happy My whole family's super happy, So it's really exciting journey ahead of a head of my ahead of me. Chilean. It's PJ Carlesimo. Tell me how playing in the first in the bonus league this year, playing in Germany getting all the opportunity you got at a very high level in Europe? How that helped you for this transition to.

"Thank I could calm easy. Continue out, date you on the pics Here we now have 13 picks in the books. Anthony Edwards goes one at a Georgia Um, of course, going to the Timberwolves, James Wiseman to to the Golden State Warriors through the mellow ball goes to the Hornets. Patrick Williams out of Florida State goes to the Bulls. Isaka Cora goes from Auburn goes the calves on Yucca. Congo goes to the Hawks, killing Hayes out of France goes to the Pistons will be topping goes to the Knicks. Israeli kid goes Number nine to Washington Jalen Smith 10 to Phoenix out of Maryland, Devin vassal from Florida State. He goes alive into the Spurs. And how about this one? The recently burden. Who has a lot of upside, Seth Greenberg. Was on with us the other day, raved about him out of Iowa State. He fell all the way to number 12. He goes to Sacramento and then Kyra Lewis Jr. Point go down Alabama. He just went 13 to the pelicans. And now the Boston Celtics are on the clock. So 13 picks in Celtics on the clock for picked number 14. I want to get to James Winston. I think this is something that is very cool. The James Winston Redemption story. Now we all know Jamis Winston Last year, he was pretty much the punch line of a lot of jokes. Jamis Winston. Leads the league in passing 30 touchdowns, but you had 30 interceptions. And each and every week, you kind of watch the Bucks last year. How many pictures Jamie's gonna throw this week? What hilarious Pick six. Is it going to be this week? Jamis. Winston deserves credit for one thing. Jamis Winston when he was down and out when the Bucks wanted to move on. When the Buck said, we're going to Tom Brady goodbye to Jamis Winston, who was the first overall pick for our franchise five years ago. Jamis Winston could have done a quick fix. Jamis Winston could have went to a situation. Or maybe he could have competed for starting job this year or go to a job where he was the number two where there was not a great number one where maybe it's a quick fix to see the field as quick as possible. Jamis Winston went to a place in New Orleans. Which you always hear Offense offense offense with the entire offense Staff. On dshaughnessy painter, although that's all you hear with the Saints is how it is a quarterback factory there in New Orleans, and you saw it last year. They have Teddy Bridgewater. Teddy Bridgewater wasn't light it up. But he went five and over placing Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater ended up getting a job this year as a starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Vied to predict who's gonna have a better career. For the rest of this career. Teddy Bridgewater Jamis. Winston Jameis. Winston doesn't even have a starting job up until this weekend. A consistent starting job. I would gamble on Jamis Winston. I think Teddy Bridgewater. He is a player. That is a little above. Gay manager. I like Teddy. I don't think he is a great quarterback. He's such a nice job, this shit on the ball to Robbie Anderson and DJ Morneau. McCaffrey. He's got a nice job with the game on the line, and maybe is not a position and win a lot of games this year, but the game online he's come up small, but you haven't offense of staff here with Pete Carmichael. With Sean Payton, where there is a lot of of raving about this coaching staff. And it worked out for Teddy Bridgewater. And when Jamis Winston went to the states, remember saying It's a smart move. As you get to see Drew Brees play. There's always a chance to breeze gets hurt, even though it was not likely chance because he got hurt the year before. You're not expecting that to happen two years in a row. However, if he does get hurt You're going to be the starting quarterback. I don't buy for a second that tastes. Um Hill is gonna be the starting quarterback on something. I just don't buy it. Because taste of hell is used on a roll right now we could line up a wide receiver could run the football. Could be on the punt team. Throw the football at times on a gadget play. Don't think that the way that the offense is currently set up by the middle of the season. You go right to taste some hill and Drew Brees goes down because then you have to alter your offense so much. I think the operations would Jamis Winston going in. Are significantly less and also I think it just makes sense to put James Winson in We have seen Jamis Winston Former number one overall pick, and I know his career's not been successful. We've seen him though, for a boatload of yards and a boatload of touchdowns in the National Football League. But one flaw has been the turnovers, which is a big flaw. It's a big problem. It could prevent you from being a consistent starting quarterback in this league. I wasn't starting quarterback before the start of the season. Has become an injury before he got a chance to see the field as a starter. And that's the way that we think it's gonna play out. But that decision to go there was the right one. Because he was going to get good reviews this year. Now he gets a Chance to showcase how much he's improved and he's in a situation we got. Michael Thomas, you got out of the Camargue got him. Emmanuel Sanders. You got weapons around you and the schedule. The next four games is not tough. Not tough whatsoever. They play the Falcons twice. I know they also got the Broncos mixed in there, too. Excuse me. Um, you know they got the Broncos also mixed in there, too. So if you let's say you're the starting quarterback for four weeks. Your Falcons twice, Broncos and the Eagles. Jamis Winston, you would think should be able to produce If he has to play four games because you breeze has what five broken ribs, five fractured ribs. And also a collapsed lung. I hope you come back, but I can't sit again. That's a necessity and you're going to a team that's good. The seven and two right now like that is AH good football team. So I think James wins them. Don't want to say he's getting rewarded for going to the Saints because it's an injury. You don't want to see the injury happened. He made a smart decision where it wasn't the quick, immediate fix, and I think he deserves praise for that. And there's been a lot of things that Jamie's once that is done. Where Even bad moments, or M, and he's not someone that you want to root for. But this decision it's going to be cool to see this redemption story unfold. It is could be cool. We.

"Well, we're not really in a position where contracted impact players so we could go ahead. Take a flyer on a guy that people kind of like, And then if he hits then, boy, we look like absolute geniuses. Yeah. And the how do you find that guy? One of the traits that you try to identify the end up getting that guy So, Yeah, I'm just looking up and down this thing. You know whether it's a Congo Ooh, are you know Kyra Lewis? Or you know whoever. There's going to be somebody here. That's going to surprise living hell out of out of all of us, and then we're gonna look back and go. Why didn't we see it? Why couldn't we see this back when we were talking about it The day off. There usually is your co You're right about that. A guy like Let's say, quite Leonard, a guy like Johannes. Guy Like See that mean? Steph crews still picked inside the top 10. But who could have thought that Steph would be as vital Tauron organization and as good as he's been in the embassy, So you're right. There's always like that one guy would you say? Wow, There's great boom or bust here, and if he booms, it's going to be something special. I don't know who that is in this draft. I'm not sure we're going to talk to Dan Dockage coming up next. We'll see what Danny thinks about that. Like what do you think might be the best player. He sees a lot of these kids and he's coached before, and he's coached. Obviously the college level and so he knows what he's looking at. When he's on these games, and he sees the raw skill set in the raw potential. So what of the bull's going to do at four? What would you like him to do? You got any names? You want to throw our way? Feel free. If you've been following the draft boards and looking at the international guys, is there a player that you've circled? 3123323776. That's the number today we got a lot to do here. Not only his doctor's gonna join us coming up an hour from now we'll talk to Tom Verducci. What's next for Theo? And what's next for the Cubs? What's their offseason? Gonna look like? We still have plenty of bears angst left in us. I know I do. I think most bears fans do so we'll talk bears. We're going to kind of spread all field today. "Thousand twenty. Nba draft the boston celtics. Select cairo lewis out of alabama. I did a lot of cbs sports. Hq stuff even mock drafts with johnson. Who of course recruited kyra and coached him for a year at alabama. He loves it absolutely loves him would have him inside of the top ten and this is not one of those things i can. Just tell you from from from talking to avery about him so much. This is not one of those things where the former coach is playing up. His guy like he stepped up. You can tell a lot about what somebody thinks about sending by what they don't say as opposed to what they do say i if we wanted to keep it simple in cairo he could just touch on the bullet points and then move on say positive things about the net. He raves about cairo. Lewis and to me. That means something a guy who was a successful player and coach in that league. Nobody's been around cairo lewis more than avery. Johnson and avery absolutely loves him six three point guard real blur with the ball. Average eighteen and a half points. Five point two assists four point eight rebounds one point eight steals as a sophomore so he was super productive thirty seven percent from three and forty nine percent from three in alabama's final seven games like i just mentioned as we were talking about kuwaiti. This is boston. Taking care of louis. Kim walker is thirty years old and he's coming off of a disappointing postseason. Kyra lewis could back him up play with him and then eventually replace him if things go well. This is the hot name up the board first round cairo. Lewis has been just the buzz around him in the past. Two to three to four weeks has been immense. We have him at fourteen the way it played out. I honestly believe cairo. Lewis could go as high six on draft night. Not predicting it what happened. I think that is going to be in the cards. He there is not one player that has more positive momentum heading into draft night than kyra lewis. He will not fall out of the lottery literally. Haven't been the last pick of the lottery here. And there are some teams from what i gather that evaluate him as the second best point guard in the draft to lamelo ball so keep an eye on cairo lewis. He is going to be a very hot prospect on draft night. Okay with the fifteenth. Pick in the twenty twenty. Nba draft the orlando magic. Select precious chula. We didn't episode about him as well. I hope you enjoyed our draft profiles. We did have a good time doing it. And you got to get familiar with the number of guys. Precious was one of them. We said it before. His draft stock was improved more than any other player in this draft in terms of what they did last season and almost circumstances out of their control. This also means that memphis will be the only team to have two players selected in the top fifteen potentially top sixteen seventeen the other team that will be in that conversation. I think is ford state. But i love a of fifteen to the magic. He just he shined in so many ways playing playing the five. He's not going to be asked to step out and shoot He he'll he's willing to do it here. and there. He shot thirty two point. Five percent from three was fifty. One percents Two point shooter can get to the line. Foul shot needs some work sixty percent from the line there. But i don't need to bang the drum again. We just did a recent episode on him. But i'm to me chew. It did enough to validate being top. Fifteen pick and so. I've got him here. Going to orlando before somebody tweets us in anger. I wanna be clear about what you're saying. You don't really improved his draft stock more than anybody else in college basketball. Do you know precious at shula is going to be taken higher in this draft because of the fact james wise and left the team than he. Otherwise would have like. I believe that if wiseman had stayed on the team last season that there's no way would be a top twenty pick. Don't don't you agree. I don't know that i agree. I strongly disagree. I you know he was a projected. Top twenty pick coming out of high school. It's possible that he would've looked like something less than that. Playing beside james. Wiseman i guess. Let's let's focus on what we agree on. Precious benefited from james. Wiseman quitting the team memphis did benefit from it. And i don't think precious thought in real time. He was benefiting from it but he adapted played his role play well super productive and also. I think it prevented him because he had to. Suddenly he went to memphis fervor idea of reasons but one of them clearly was to play to be the starting four next to the best five in the country then the best five in the country. Quits the team. The week before christmas. So now you gotta play the. He didn't wanna play the five but by playing the fine. It kept him closer to the ram and prevented him from from a roaming on the perimeter. Too much where i guess. There's an alternate universe where he could have really shown what he can do out there. But i think the most likely scenario is he would have consistently shown all of the things he can't consistently do on the perimeter but he was great in the role that he was asked to play and he did Show over and over again. A real talent for being able to switch onto smaller players and garden space all of which is important in the nba. now he's a super athlete. Great motor i think he's he's at worst. He's a eight year role player in the nba. High energy guide. Small ball five at best if he becomes anything on the offensive inconsistently. 'cause he's not right now he's he's he's a dunker an offensive rebound to put that guy. You know he he he. He likes to take jumpers. he just doesn't make them that often but if he ever proves or shows that ability to do that that i could envision a scenario where you feel very good getting him middle of of the first round because if you told me he is going to be a plus on the offensive end with time in addition to all of the other things that he's so clearly can do then he looks like a top ten pick in this draft as opposed to a top fifteen. All right that's fifteen. Picks in the books we got fifteen more to go. We'll dive in to what the blazes are going.

"So okay. Don't enter today the subject matter. Is kansas jayhawks. Last season finished twenty eight and three overall seventeen of one of the big twelve league by multiple games. They have been the number one overall seed in the tournament if we would have had a two thousand and twenty inside a blade tournament but now the top scores and two players from that team gone devan. Johnson entered the nba draft. They likely second round. Pick your doke as the buki enter the nba draft. He's a borderline first round. Pick so those losses matter but coach body is back markus. Carrot is back in fact for the top seven. Scores are back and price thompson. A five star bogarde from tulsa. He's gonna join the team as k us highest rated incoming freshman now. Is this the most talented bill t we've ever seen. I don't think so. So let's start there norlander How much if at all do you believe the ncwa cloud that is still hovering over. Bill sells program has impacted. Kate us roster for this season. I think it has to a certain degree. I think the impact will be even more pronounced a year from now. But they're still overcoming this. I mean look. You've got him seven. I've got him six. Ap top twenty five pre season six. Ken tom five so again. It's all relative. But i if the point you're getting at i think we mentioned this on. A podcast. briefly last week is that kansas is roster at first glance doesn't pop to you. I think there's i think there's something to that. And maybe it's similar in some ways to duke But but i still think that it's a it's a quality team and is going to be fighting right there at the top of the league. I just happen to think that baylor and west virginia are on pretty equal footing with kansas. Give baylor a little bit of an edge over all but yes what has been going through. I think it has impacted bill. His staff's ability to recruit and really suck up. I also think that kansas is getting the benefit of the doubt as it deserves to by the way this was definitively the best team in college basketball last season we have spent any time. In as many people. Talking about the season that could have been the tournament that could have been for your crayton's your baylor's your san diego states. In of obviously you're dayton's the teams that were positioned to have really good seeds in unusual years. Kansas expected to be there. But you know plenty of alternate universe. Kansas wins the instability tournament. And maybe doesn't even get a real challenge until gets the final sort four so because of that coming off a twenty eight and three season and the fact that it's only lost once in january. I will bring this. This just popped in my head. Dear remember last season your prediction. I don't. I don't have memory of a prediction. You predicted you predict a kansas would lose it. And they want her and then they and then they'd never lose again. They still haven't lost so the first part was wrong. The second part was right. They went on a sixteen game win. Streak finished the season there so because of all of that. That's why kansas is getting the benefit of the dow. If you told me they started a little bit bumpy but kind hit their stride. I believe you. i'm not all in on kansas. Being one of the best teams when we start the season. I m in on kansas being one of the ten best teams. By the time we get to mid january. I did say it's starting to come back. Kansas would lose at baylor and the never lose again. They wanted at baylor but they never lost. You're exactly right. They closed on sixteen game winning streak. And it's funny. You bring it up the way you brought it up. Because i have consistently been talking about the absence of the two thousand twenty. Ncaa tournament talked about. What a gut punch. It is for dayton or san diego state or baylor or cr- rate and these schools that aren't usually competing for national championship but for a variety of reasons had a real opportunity to win that national championship. Some of it was if you just look at all. These nba drafts. That are out right. Now i mean look at all of the guys who are in these madras who just were not going to be in the ncaa tournament. Like james wiseman lamelo ball anthony edwards top three picks in my latest monograph. We're not gonna play in the ncaa tournament. dinnie obvious. obviously a international player. Tyrus alberton was injured on a non. Ncaa tournament team like there was a air knee. Smith was not going to be in the instantly tournament. Kyra lewis was not going to be in the incident tournament that he was not going to be in the tournament. The majority of the projected lottery picks were not going to be an instantly tournament. So it's not like we're going to run into some monster team. That's got all these pros and you can't overcome it with your very good college players. And so what. I've talked about that. Two thousand twenty to play tournament. I talked about it like man. That's a once. In a lifetime opportunity for dayton dayton ever gonna ever he can be a one seed with the best prospect in in the tournament on their roster probably never. Let's be honest. Probably never but that was dayton reality heading into the tournament. So i've talked a lot about that. Here's what gets lost k. This was the paper. Bill self could be a two-time national champion right now if tournament just unfolds as it was expected to unfold his resume already in the hall of fame one national title three final four thirteen big twelve regular season titles eight big twelve tournament titles but he could be a two time national champion right..
