"A fighter, it was a key oxygen fighter. Yeah, and anybody that knows you're a fighter, you've done all kinds of martial arts. If anybody follows your Instagram, you do Thai boxing. You know a lot of the top fighters and stuff. So you've been in the martial arts game and in that world. You've seen it all, and I remember one time coming to your office, you actually told me you're like, look, look man, I respect all these martial arts. I do them all. But at the end of the day, I think you told me, and I could be wrong, but I think you said kiyoshi is the hardest. I might have said was this that the training for kyoko. That's hard. It's like, for example, you can go to like the hardest workout in a wrestling team in the Midwest where they have to talk about the room. Yeah, sure. The cure cushion workouts for fighters were just utterly insane. And I'll say this like gleason's boxing gym is in Brooklyn. A couple of blocks from where I grew up, actually. We didn't go there much, but our team of key urchin fighters sometimes we train at least sometimes. We go on the ring and train. And the owner of gleason's who saw like Mike Tyson, all these guys train there. He walked over to our coach and he was like, none of our boxers could get through this workout. And you know how, you know, a high level boxer is in very amazing shape. So I'm not saying, listen, let's say someone's watching like, no, no, I'm good. I don't care. Maybe you do a hard workout. I could care less. I'm just saying, in my experience, the auction workout at the highest level was like nothing I've ever seen. You know, and just real quick, 'cause I saw one of your recent posts because you still train in that martial art. And I saw you, you were like a body conditioning, yeah. Yeah, and you guys, you guys were hitting it, you guys were hitting each other pretty well. And the tag you wrote on Instagram was mindset training. Right. It's my training. Because the thing is, my body and that guy's body, we're already like trained like if I punch him like really hard bare fisted in the liver, like for your average person that might drop them. But he's used to that. And I'm used to that. So and even the low kicks we're doing, it's just that wasn't sparring. It's just body conditioning. So I caught mind training 'cause at some point you just training your mind with that because we've already trained our bodies for that. So what a cool upbringing. And then what led you to chiropractic fast forward? I mean, at one point, did you actually think you could do a career of or at the time? MMA wasn't popular to way later. So was there any thing did you ever think I could do this professionally or maybe I'll put my own dojo?

So what led you to this thing. Yeah for so I grew up in minneapolis. Minnesota kid from minnesota. I love it and i grew up with disability. I basically used a wheelchair since. I was about ten years old and i can talk more detail. About sort of what led me to Use that full-time at at at ten. But i grew up when wiltshire basketball which you know. I like it as a fun sport. A lot of friends shoot hoops. But you know. I never nothing it was. It was fun at every time i was. I'm missing something here. You know. And then i i saw in two thousand four like you referred to this movie called murder ball and it was about the two thousand four paralympic team and i saw these guys and wheelchairs smashing each other knocking each other around and going flying party. And you know fifteen year old needs like fun and my mom was like No you're you're not playing that sports absolutely not and so you know kind of back and forth over the course beer try no come on just a little bit. No no no it. Finally you know. I i think i ward basically known so. My dad drove me to a local practice minnesota and they took me there and the chair and i was like five feet tall hundred twenty pounds soaking wet extra ballplayers go. You wanna play. I wanna play. "Sense of the pulse of what was going on in the communities in what was on parents minds through that very very difficult period. I'm so fascinated by these mama. Preneurs owners of these centers. What do you think they've done for their ability to better. Their lives and really accumulate wealth. Independent of men are mama. Frontiers are rockstars. They're they're incredible and the name was very intentional right. These are women who embody the elements of a mother mama nurturing loving caring patients. But also they're they're hustling their entrepreneurs their strategic in work hard persevere. In spite of challenges as we saw last year we do have issues with husbands sometimes husbands. Who see their wives run these thriving businesses from from something very small and want to get involved or wanna take the money. We're having to develop a new strategy to engage husbands on why this is great. I think we've also had issues with husbands. Who find that. Their wives are working too much. Now and Are not home in time to make dinner so again of dealing with some of these challenges that come with having women that are so confident in empowered. We've had a few mama preneurs who were in really abusive relationships. We're able to detach from their husbands. Because they have the economic independence now to do so. I think it comes back to if they believe that what they're doing is important invaluable than nothing will stop them. You know it's incredible you've created a community. You've solved a lot of problems. That had already arisen in the area that people needed to deal with when you look at the policy landscape in kenya particularly around care. How do you think that you are personally influencing as a organization. We know that no matter how much we scale how big we get. There's no way we're going to reach every child and so we need to be working with the government on advocating for better more progressive policies. And we've had some really great quick winds on some policies. But i think the challenge comes into having those policies actually be implemented rather than just sitting as paperwork filed somewhere ultimately our theory. Here is that if women and mothers and communities understanding importance of childcare. An advocate for that than policymakers who are working on three to four year election cycles are gonna need to start listening and so how do we influence the behavior of parents and one of the coolest studies that was done. Last year was showing how kyoko parents have shifted their hierarchy of how they choose a childcare center so having been exposed to quality childcare there now choosing centers that have a better learning environment that have better nutrition that have qualified and trained staff. And if we can start shifting how parents choose childcare centers it's going to force childcare centers to improve their quality and make it really a strong issue that communities and elected officials need to start addressing. You given so much thought to this. And it really is just so deep that the tentacles of the operation in community with culture and government. What do you wish you had no about the childcare industry. When you started that you feel could have made a difference. I think when we started we we really thought about this as early childhood education issue and really focusing only on education and it took us a couple of years to realize that when you're dealing with zero to three year olds the needs are very different. It's it's health and nutrition and social protection all of these different sectors. And i think that's part of what makes childcare so brilliant is that it touches every department in there's the health component there is the labor component for women's economic empowerment. There's a social protection component. And i think we've we've only now really started to approach all of these different departments. But i think that's also what makes it super difficult is that childcare doesn't fit squarely in one place which is why there's no ownership or accountability. And i think that's one of the biggest moves we need to make the sector is potentially framing this more as an economic issue. As i think i was very naive at the beginning to think that if we could show policymakers we've brought them we've brought them to our centers of tried to show them the reality of working moms living in the informal settlements and they there is empathy there. But there's no action. And i think i now a little bit wiser a little bit with more grey hairs. No that policymakers don't make decisions based on their hearts. They make it based on their wallets. And i think if we can start framing this as an economic issue that child care will un leash this potential for women to work and have peace of mind at work and take fewer days off of work because their children are not sick as often. We can completely boost the economy of nations and then the the spillover effects which i think is the real important part is where then having children develop that are cognitively smart in critical thinking skills and socio emotional development and that will be the future human capital from these countries. "Play packs so monthly play packs that got into the hands of young kids so just having something for young children to do most great. I think over the course of the year. We had created assembled in distributed over sixty thousand play packs we launched a digital caregiving stream. So we have all of this amazing content that we train our momma preneurs on and then also a two way ask the childcare expert hotline which was awesome because we had a sense of the pulse of what was going on in the communities in what was on parents minds through that very very difficult period. I'm so fascinated by these mama. Preneurs owners of these centers. What do you think they've done for their ability to better. Their lives and really accumulate wealth. Independent of men are mama. Frontiers are rockstars. They're they're incredible and the name was very intentional right. These are women who embody the elements of a mother mama nurturing loving caring patients. But also they're they're hustling their entrepreneurs their strategic in work hard persevere. In spite of challenges as we saw last year we do have issues with husbands sometimes husbands. Who see their wives run these thriving businesses from from something very small and want to get involved or wanna take the money. We're having to develop a new strategy to engage husbands on why this is great. I think we've also had issues with husbands. Who find that. Their wives are working too much now and are not home in time to make dinner so again of dealing with some of these challenges that come with having women that are so confident in empowered. We've had a few mama preneurs who were in really abusive relationships. We're able to detach from their husbands. Because they have the economic independence now to do so. I think it comes back to if they believe that what they're doing is important invaluable than nothing will stop them. You know it's incredible you've created a community. You've solved a lot of problems. That had already arisen in the area that people needed to deal with when you look at the policy landscape in kenya particularly around care. How do you think that you are personally influencing as a organization. We know that no matter how much we scale how big we get. There's no way we're going to reach every child and so we need to be working with the government on advocating for better more progressive policies. And we've had some really great quick winds on some policies. But i think the challenge comes into having those policies actually be implemented rather than just sitting as paperwork filed somewhere ultimately our theory. Here is that if women and mothers and communities understanding importance of childcare. An advocate for that than policymakers who are working on three to four year election cycles are going to need to start listening. And so how do we influence the behavior of parents and one of the coolest studies that was done.
