Adam Driver, 'Marriage Story'

"I learned to be comfortable in it just because it was unfamiliar to me when we started force awakens and not so much in how we were working on it but the scale and size of it. I'd never works on the just getting used to rhythm of a set being so long before we you know there's so many special effects and so many people on set I was used to just smaller groups the people in small rooms with like borrowed costumes. So I mean that's been but just like a smaller smaller people around and suddenly the set in itself is a huge theater for like one hundred people. I took me a while to get used to that. The rhythm in what like the technical part of the you know the CGI th the effects into me a while to get used to but because it was jj and because it was Ryan working on it apart from our costumes being dramatically different than anything. I'd worked before they made it feel like small independent movies. And that I had a preconceived idea that you know you were going to lose those conversations about the humanity and sake of the spectacle of it but B I J J. You don't lose any of that. The first conversations that we have were about the humanity of that character. How do we make that person? Not Two dimensional but someone you can watch breathing unscreened and and so. We didn't in that sense. It didn't feel that that-that markedly different. Did you take anything anything of Kylo. Yeah all sorts of stuff. I have a whole costume. Yeah they know you took it. Yeah Yeah Okay so this is not really taking anything I have two helmets. Have Light Sabers. I have all sorts of stuff. I don't want to do with the costume because right now it's just in a a box but I'm trying to be weird to see you at home. Basically with all right. Here's everyone war museum to me this week. So great and we'll just have this together could do that. All right a sanctuary you've got to-do anybody who comes and visits knows that star wars in terms of you looking at you do you watch yourself no. You don't do it. No I've seen things things like I watch star wars Somehow once but apart from tied down and forced to look at yourself yeah yeah yeah me and no one. I are having a debate about marriage story. You know It's hard to to watch myself for for lots of different reasons. You know you just critical of yourself self. Well it's that and also to kind of really absorb what's happening. You KINDA gotTa Watch it like three or four times to to practice. Not You know not thinking about you doing it and watch it four times. You can't do that and also I feel it just leads you to trying to well not only being self conscious but I kinda like orchestrating it onset so I went on the unaware and being unaware of. We're a camera is or you. You know what you're doing or how you look. I think sometimes we don't have that in life so no you don't have it so I don't want to. I'm not so curious I'm trying to make it look better her. You know unless you kind of have to the thing kind of requires visual well over most of the time. If it's a movie you can do that on the stage you could play Pale tonight and knowing what's going on internally and not really necessarily seeing what the outside is who do you trust you trust your wife. is she a good critic of you did she say she's a great great critic. is she kind or just ruthless. No she's ruthless. In a way that is Is Thoughtful not. I just like you know you suck. Let's let's let's split up but like yeah that would be that would be. I can't stay married to you. Know She's just this she's honest about it as is really good at articulating The good and bad in a way that you I kind of need in life I want. I don't want people around me telling May I also don't want a lot of people telling me what's wrong with it so you try to pick like one or two people that you trust their opinion and they say oh. Yeah that thing so you. You have a problem with. I can see but it doesn't register or or the opposite the thing that you think. It's working truly sucks. Isn't it also almost as bad when when the to me. It's all deserve what's happening to you. I'm really happy for you. Know that it is and you should trust it but I think any actor is a little bit. You know suspicious of this constant praise or you're going to win the Oscar for this sort of like you were nominated for Black Klansman and you get into that race. Do you try. I keep that out of your head. You have totally. I know. It's I think it's really I've been lucky and having people around me who are I mean like you know I'm I'm around my wife my family. They're very quick to tell me all the mistakes that you make and I don't I don't give that much. It's all good. Good all when you do win the Oscar for this which I think you should you should say how did this come from. Nobody around me. Even thinks I'm I'm good in so anyway. Congratulations on all of this. And again we come to the end of the show as we did the last where when I asked you to sing just a little moment I was having a good time. I'm not a singer right. And then Dan people go to marriage story and watch him do like a Sun High Aria being alive. I sat there watching. That was the only time it took me out of the movie. The Bachelor told me he can't sing anything and he does. Maybe the toughest eleven o'clock number number as they call them in Broadway history. How did you steal yourself or that moment? How come you didn't say to Noah Baumbach I can't it was different when you're like you know sing? Sing Sing Jingle Bells as you as opposed to sing a jingle bells okay. Don't you remember the song he did sing for me. No twinkle twinkle little. So I'm just asking uh-huh from Monaco Mall Man. Come on look at this fearless actor. No no no character and that's easier place. I don't know how Kylo Ren be. Would he actually listen to the Henry. The fifth singing twinkle. Drink a little stuff. No Ma'am Damn. I can't do twinkle twinkle. I won't do a little bit of something different. That's their that's being alive quite yet. It's panic time now. All the the world of a song relates to travel but I I don't have to sing the whole. Aw on my bags are packed. I'm ready to go. This is terrible. I'm standing here outside your door. And that's it the way I You're not leaving. I hate to wake you up to say goodbye so kiss me and smile for me talk. Tell me that you wait for me. Holy go on. I'm leaving now doubt. I trust me when you see marriage story. You'll hear what he he could do. Aren't you now going with less Carranza and making a shooting stick. You can't touch it like a nightmare. It's a nightmare so so much fun on that set. Yeah no it's not follow. Thank you actually is credible Komo news ago but it's like opera so we're doing this just a man but I to me. You could get away

Prepping for Baby #5

"Today. We're GONNA BE TALKING ABOUT BABIES. Those of you who listen to last week's episode or have been reading my blog know about our exciting news so yeah we'll be talking about that and how things have changed changed over the past five years of the past thirteen years in the case since my oldest was born and different gear recommendations that people have sent in so thank you all for doing those out. We're going to be doing more episodes about advice. Various people have for the baby stages and such. I just can't believe there's a thirteen year age. Spread that is amazing. Matt is going to be you're. GonNa have a built in babysitter right and maybe at least for the older kids. I'm definitely comfortable. Leaving Jasper with the older children home town in newborns are complicated well. We'll we'll see how that all works out. I'm so excited for you. I mean you guys I sort of had this like inkling and I can't even remember why anymore and then when she told me it was like so I just I just I'm so excited for this and oddly enough some of not just lower but like I feel like a lot of my very close those relatives and acquaintances are all having babies at the same time so we are very excited to do this episode and talk to Laura. More about everything this US expecting although although she of all the people I know having babies. They're all having their first and you're having number five question for you. Is You feel like you're inducted into some kind of like special five because I do feel like you know two to three a three to four okay four to five to me. That's like that's like the Line Yeah I. I don't know I mean I always joke that. Zero to one is the big change everything. Oh I totally agree more from the outside of helping okay. Yes as whether you have a truly early big family yeah I duNno big families. Are I kind of in my mind. Put Four to five as the same bucket and so then then the six plus is where it starts getting interesting. DRE this inevitable. One more than you have always seems seems big big deal but six six dots crazy only crazy people do that now. We we did the reveal for the kids this Halawani about reveal yes so I had bought shirts for all the kids that the older two boys had wants big brother again Alex Scott one that said newest big Bro and risk got a big sister shirt and then I had a little onesie that said little brother and we all sat down we'd gotten back from our California vacation and we were sitting around the table. Call the family meeting hit everyone on route the shirts and a Jasper looked at it in two seconds like you're having another baby like Yay yeah because he put the pieces together like already put the pieces together. I think he mentioned that he had talked about with Sam at some point that they were speculating about it because I mean he's not an idiot. He's twelve. He's in. I am not Flat Tummy Right. You're listening for twenty weeks when we told them subtle. It's at twenty weeks pregnant with your fifth kid. It's it's not entirely so I would say. It wasn't totally out there. I don't take a lot of people were guessing that it was was the case. Probably imagine a lot of what you choose to wear putting wearing flowing hide it but if you were wearing a form fitting tank top. It was probably being evidence so they were very excited. I mean the big heads. Were just like jumping up and down like oh my goodness. This is so excited. Alex was a little bit more wary but I think it's more that was just overwhelmingly no context for what this even means rights but he arrested him. This isn't their first Rodeo zone their first radio edit over the next day. You're too. Alex definitely was getting into the idea and the funny thing I mean. They're all coming up to me wanting to feel the valley. Feel the baby kick like they're talking adding to the baby because this is the thing I've been so aware of with four other children is I mean he's my baby but right. He's their sibling and there's more of them and they're welcoming him into this tribe of theirs which by the way I'm not a member of that tribe I bet tribe is the thing and so they have their own interactions I'd just really a reminder that fits baby comes into you a whole community that is already there and that's kind of fun to welcome to Josh use the phrase we were thinking about number three and we were thinking about the a significant spacing between two and three which is nothing like five but still he said Oh. This is going to be a family baby and I like that idea like you're totally having a family baby baby. Everyone has one and so the kids talk to him there. They've been calling him a a name which I don't know if that will be his name but it's going to be hard to not not named him that if they keep calling ads really not some of the names. Alex suggested Alex suggested Kylo Ren for instance the baby will not be Kylo blue. Wren remember that one of my good friends in high school they were a family of sex I think and then they were having a baby girl and he was. He named his baby sister. They picked a rather unusual name. Her name is Roxanne to like getting some Cyrano Diversion Berge at the time so academically inspired but it was pete's are thought it was so cool that like he got to pick the name and yes so maybe maybe that will happen in your family yeah now. They're they're all into it so very very fun. That is so hard for kids to wait. Wait another four months but they

"And talk about the latest film and TV news. This is slash home editor in chief Peter Saretta and joining me out to his Sasha weekend editor Brennaman redder watcher and billy everyone okay so last night was the emmy awards I I did not watch it but Brad you're manning the desk and updating the winners for the site so what what is the outcome of Emmy Awards for two thousand Nineteen well the Emmys were bad the show itself was just not good and let's say award shows are usually very entertaining or great but this one just felt like it was really subpar. not having a host this year it didn't work nearly as well for the Emmys did for the Oscars and the show just felt like it was clumsy and the writing wasn't clever and it was just overall very lame mm-hmm and we are too because they tried doing this thing where they had a video video clips introduced all the nominees and then they had the presenter come out and unjust presented the award so I'm not sure what the reason for that is why that was even considered or if to beat up the show or what but wait wait so the percentages it just came on stage to say a name to open envelope and say name yeah they'd be like a little a little bit like they usually do you know during a word presentation and and they just announced the winner. That's all the presenters did the all. The nominees were like with exception of a few instances were announced by the eclipse that does sound bad yeah it was it was very silly so but overall the winners the outcome for our some of our favorite. TV shows was pretty good. game of thrones came away with outstanding drama series which was kind of surprised because it seemed like the show might mostly get shut out from winning any of the major awards because the only other key awarded took home was for Peter Dink Lidge for acting at an otherwise they lost cost out and most of the other major categories did win ten awards previously at the creative emmys the weekend before but then it came back from behind to take home the the biggest prize which really felt like it was more of a an award kind of in the same way that Lord of the rings overturned King ended up winning. You know all those awards basically for the entire achievement of that film trilogy. I think that this award really felt like yours for game of thrones overall but the biggest showing and surprise from the entire emme broadcast was fleabag. Amazon's comedy series created by phoebe Waller Bridge who also stars in it produces it. It's a very big deal. one a ton kind of awards including outstanding. Comedy Series Phoebe Waller Bridge won several awards for South for writing and acting and it was it was a big night and especially because upset favorites like Julia Louis Dreyfuss for veep and even veep itself which was in its final season so yeah it was a big night for for some of our beloved shows. Berry also took home some key awards including Bill Hader getting lead actor in a comedy series and yeah what what was there any. He like huge. Upsets are things that we didn't expect or want to happen. Maybe one of the biggest surprises was in the directing for a drama series category category Jason Bateman one for ozark which again. We're not really sure that anyone actually watches ozark. I've watched those are Ben has watched those are written off Ozark but that is directing is the best directing though it is good. Go like you'd be surprised at Jason Bateman as a director. I do agree that that is ridiculous. It's crazy because the Jason Jason Bateman beat out three other director nominations for separate game of thrones episodes and so maybe that testament and kind of a slap in the face to game of thrones a little bit like kind of showing them. Hey this last season wasn't so great so we're going to give this award some somebody else but it could have been also that they split the vote. Did I mean and that's very true to you that that's it's actually a lot of people think too because game of thrones had multiple nominees and a lot of categories including the the acting categories and it's very likely that people who love game of thrones were split on who should get the award and that's likely why we ended up with the the winners that we did okay quite a surprise but a big snub for me of course was in the atoms in the acting category best actress for sharp objects. I honestly think it's one of her best roles in her career her and she has been snubbed time and time again by both the Oscars Emmy's most award show so it's not a surprise again but it's who beat Peter out though Peter out for best actress was I think Oh was it. Julia Garner in Ozark. We'll start. Rob Is Limited series right. It was the military's I'm sorry yes object. Sharp objects was limited series was Michelle Williams for Fosse OSCE purdon okay well. There's there's that I guess after seeing. I guess I'm going to have to finally watch. I guess it's so good hitter so well written and I you know I've talked about it enough but yes watch it. I mean I like phoebe. I've you know loved her solo. I liked her other. Show that spy show what's it called killing eve which I know is not as as much of a comedy. I think I'm going to check this out eventually. you know. I'm going to put on the West okay so that doesn't for the Emmys you can read the whole whole list of winners and losers on National Dot Com. I'll link that in the show notes let's talk about Star Wars There's going to be a new comic book that that Reveals Kyle wrens dark side origins in the writer of that book apparently warns fans that they are not going to be happy what do those. They're not going to be satisfied. What do we do it. Yes I think he's a kind of taking a cautious steps for fans because he he is reading the rise of Kylo Ren which is a four part marvel comic book series. That's debut in December and he gave some teases about this comic book. He talked about how while this series will go into the tragic story of Benzyl on his pack the dark side but he did warn fans that this that everyone when he might not be very happy with the choices that he made and I think that it's more along the lines of star wars fans being very passionate and any choices are our little radical tend to get some blow back amongst the Phantom and he's kind of of getting a little bit preemptive there in terms of any potential blowback right but we don't know exactly what these choices will be but he said this is a story about Ben Solo and understanding some of the choices he made so perhaps it'll will see autopsy when this issue the first issue hits December fourth. It's so interesting that they're doing this as a comic book series because it feels looks like it could be a movie like that whole point in his life. I mean I guess they don't. Have Carrie Fisher and that'd be hard to tell that story without her and I'm sure Harrison for just want to come back as well but you know that Whole Story Dynamic the the Knights of ran you know snow coming in all that I feel like you know Luke training at the temple. I like Kylo. Ren Path is origin story is probably very interesting using but I guess probably we thought that about inkens story after the original trilogy so maybe maybe it's a bad idea to make yeah and Star Wars origin stories haven't done so well the boxoffice lately as you might explain with Solo Star Wars Story and I think that maybe maybe Disney's kind of playing chess with these kind of things especially since we already know where the end result will be. I just wonder how much control this this writer who's the writer Charles Soul. Yes chessel. I wonder how much creative control he even has with this because j.j Abrams is still like like you know editing and re shooting the rise of Skywalker you know things can dramatically change in Kylo. Ren Origin story very based on what he goes with that movie. I feel like it's going to be more. I think by him saying the answer could be. It's not going to please all fans. I think it probably hitting my reputation. I think he's probably hitting that's probably not going to give all the answers and he is still beholden to the Star Wars Lucasfilm story group as well so I think that everything will be under the jurisdiction and maybe yeah maybe it is a hint that what's GonNa GonNa Happen with Star Wars the rise of Skywalker who knows 'cause we still haven't yet seen all of Kylo. Ren Origin got a glimpse of it and last Djeddai but maybe we'll get more of it in in rice skywalker which could potentially chart a redemption path for him who knows bread. Would you have liked to seen a Kylo. Ren Origin Movie not particularly I I'm fine with just that being something that is relegated to the side stories comics and books. I feel like we know everything we need to know. Oh about Kylo Ren origin story just from the Force Awakens and the last Jedi. I and you know like you said the last time we got an origin story of a main villain like thanks we got the the Star Wars prequels and there you go yeah okay. Let's talk about we'll Farrell and Ryan Reynolds who are GonNa uh we'd a musical reimagining of a Christmas Carol breadwinner. Yes there have been countless adaptations of a Christmas Carol over the years too many to count account even ranging from classic Traditional Adaptation starring George C Scott to the muppet Christmas Carol and screwed with Bill Murray the most recent one was Robert. zemeckis is crazy motion capture computer animated movie with Jim Carrey Gary Oldman played multiple roles and now we'll get ah musical movie based on the Classic Charles Dickens Story This time you will have Farallon Ryan Reynolds starring. We don't know which which we'll be playing evidence screwed which will be playing Bob Kraft. If you had to guess till probably will ferrell savings scrooge he he's older but because of the talent involved with this thing and it being called a a reimagining I wouldn't be surprised if this was maybe a more modern take on the story something like scrooge that takes place in Contemporary Society but we we just don't know many of the details as far as how this will play out but we do know it will probably be a little bit at least a little bit less traditional because of the talent involved behind the camera and that's shot Anders and John Morris there are writing duo best known for scripting movies like Daddy's home and we're the millers Sean Anders had has directed movies like that's my boy also written things like she's out of my league and whatnot they can be hit or miss sometimes comedy. They're they're usually pretty decent though as duo and their writing and directing this time so I wouldn't be surprised if this it was something that was maybe a little bit. More Edgy possibly are rated. Farrell and Reynolds are both producing through their respective production banners as is mosaic Nick which could possibly be worrisome simply because mosaic have the mosaic has been producing wool Farrell's newbies for a long time because that's his management management company that represents him but they most recently produced Holmes and Watson which did not turn out very well and I hope I hope that a Christmas Carol doesn't turn out to be you you know a a more classic version of the story that has that modern comedic sensibility because it really fell flat with Holmes and Watson and there might be a way to do it right but given given the recent performance of that particular movie. I it would make me concerned if that were the case where I have an idea. I have an idea what if we get Jim carried a play all the characters through performance capture technology he can he can play all the characters see already talked about this and that was garbage who I just don't like. I feel like the story has been told so many times that nobody gives a crap like H. I know you're the big book Creator here. This is a classic story like but do do kids. Do millennials even care about a Christmas Carol. I mean I mean I liked it when I first read the Dickens version but yeah it's been retold time and time again. I think there are like some twists on it. I like scrooge. I I like the doctor who version of a Christmas Carol so there are ways of just kind of redoing the modern times but with this take. I don't think it'll be offering anything new to it at the musical and it could be some some big goal Raunchy comedy. Is there any like record of a comedy. Musical has been really good like in movie. I I know there's obviously like on TV. There is but South Park bigger longer and uncut yeah okay anything else. Calm call comedy the musical movies I feel like you don't really usually get carbonated musical together. Yeah like there's some more comedic moments of chill the producers. Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah so maybe this could be like the producers V. Success in that aspect. I I think so yeah during the Emmy Awards last night they did premiere a new trailer for El Camino a breaking bad movie which it's just a horrible title for but I do understand that you have to make people aware that it is a breaking bad movie and Itchy birther stuff for the site. What did you think of the trailer yes. We'll trailers. Kinda generous word for this because it's a very short one minute clip Lou less than one minute. Actually it just shows kind of the aftermath of of the series finale of breaking bad it shows Aaron Paul's Jesse Pink men in a car. You're listening to a news broadcast that basically recaps the the the slaughter the the shooting of all of the Nazis who had had.

"Universe or do you think is going to be one of those things where jeff just keeps going around saying hashtag. It's all connected and in my guess is that it's going to be a whole separate thing still because i feel like kevin feige. Would you know if it all really is going need to be connected that would fall under the studios purview but this sounds like marvel. T._v. is still off playing its own corner of the playground and he he's hinted that there are other characters that live in that same category which are still to come so we don't know exactly what that means but <hes> i guess you can speculate away if you care about that little corner of the playground but that's the problem like i don't know with with the marvel studios stuff being integrated into the disney zinni plus stream. I just don't know if there's a place for marvel t._v. Shows anymore yeah yeah okay. Let's let's move on to star wars. Let's talk star wars resistance. "Hi, everybody. It's Peter Travers than welcome to our special popcorn Tony award show. Now, I've gotta say, before we get into the nominees about who will win and who should win. This is been the most amazing year in Broadway history. It has made over two billion dollars at the box office that never happened. And why is it? I think it's Hollywood heat everybody from TV from movies from us. It wants to be on Broadway. They wanna be on that stage. You got this year. Kylo Ren and driver on Broadway. You have Walter, white Bryan, Cranston, there, Jeff Daniels who played Harry done in too, dumb and dumber movies. They're all fighting to be best, dramatic actor, what kind of stuff is happening on Broadway. Well, let's start with the major categories, and I'm gonna start with best musical the nominees are ain't too, proud the life and times of the temptations Beetlejuice remember that movie Haiti's town, the prom, and Tootsie. You remember that movie too? Well. I think the winner is Haiti's town. It's a rigid. It's basically the myth of Orpheus ritzy, but it's got a score by a woman named Naess Mitchell who doesn't come from Broadway, at all and kind of revolutionizes it. So what would happen what could spoil the fun? There's a little musical called the prom. It's really it's totally original. It's about these bunch of Broadway veterans, and they're really hard bitten, and they're not getting any press, and they decide to go to Indiana and help, a lesbian high school student take her girlfriend to the prom. That's it. How good is it? It's really good. And in terms of the Hollywood connection, Ryan Murphy, went to see it fell in love with it, and he's making a movie of it. So how about that? Then we have best play the Ferryman choirboy, Gary a sequel to Titus andronicus. What the constitution means to me an ink. I'm telling you people, the Ferryman is got to be a movie soon. It's an Irish play. It's about the troubles, and in on a stage. We get to see an entire family deal with violence deal with their own feuds. We've got babies onstage. We've got live alive goose. We have everything there's nothing like I don't think there's any competition for it at all except there was a snub, the most successful play in Broadway history. That's not a musical is to kill among bird, and for some reason, the Tony nominee said, let's not nominated what I want. Answer on that one best revival of a play. Arthur, Miller's all my sons the boys in the band, burn this torch song and the Waverley gallery. I think Arthur Miller's all my sons which brought a net. Bending back to Broadway is a show that he wrote in one thousand nine hundred forty seven a bout a guy who was manufacturing airplane, parts and was to rush to do it. And so the planes crashed and killed pilots during the war. We live in the world of Boeing. Now, how timely could this be? So I think that's really up there. And I in terms of seeing a show that by playwright Arthur Miller who says, let's deal with the world we live in this one really, really did it then we have bible of musical. This is easy, because there's only two there's Oklahoma Rogers and Hammerstein Oklahoma and kiss me. Kate. Of course, they were both movies. We saw Oklahoma with Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones in the fifties. But kiss me, Kate is done in a traditional way. Kelli o'hara's in it, Oklahoma is directed by guide named Daniel fish who find darkness. We're Rogers and Hammerstein only found light. It's a revelation to watch this. It's not the Oklahoma you've ever remembered, and it sung in the kind of country western way, look, if you ever get to see this on Broadway or win a tours get there get there quick. Okay. Okay. Best actor in a musical. And so, we'll do alphabetically Brooks as Mantas in the prom, Derrick Baskin and ain't too, proud the life and times of the temptations Alex Brightman and Beetlejuice. Remember when Michael Keaton had their part, Damon down, oh in Rogers and Hammerstein, Oklahoma. And send Tino fun Tanna into okay? The favorite is Tino, Tanna who is playing the part that destined Hoffman immortalized in the movie in the nineteen eighties. But what Centeno Tanna doesn't remember him on TV in crazy ex girlfriend like I'm saying everybody's from TV, or he does so much more. He sings as a man sees a woman, he does physical comedy does everything but stand on his hat. And I say, you know, who's out there that can spoil the win for Santino Tanna. And my answer is no one because this is one of the great performances you'll ever see on a musical, comedy stage. He's the winner. Best actress in a play Benning in Arthur, Miller's all my sons, Laura, Donnelly, in the Ferryman. Elaine may in the Waverley gallery, Janet mcteer in Bernhardt hamlet, Laurie Metcalf in Hillary Clinton, and Heidi Shreck in what the constitution means to me. Okay. Elaine may doesn't win this Tony. You're going to hear from me. She's eighty seven years old. She's returned to Broadway. After decades to play the part of a woman fighting Alzheimer's, and everything is no perfect about what she's done. She started with Mike Nichols doing comedy. She was starring in movies of like the new leaf directed things like the heartbreak kid. She's just one of the best actors I've ever seen anywhere. And if she loses and, you know, I feel bad for an bending because if Elaine may wasn't here this year, I think she would be the winner, but come on. Attention must be paid people. And I also wanna talk about a snub how. How does Glenda Jackson who won the Tony last year for three women returned to Broadway as King Lear? We talk about the age of hashtag metoo and time's up Glenda. Jackson is playing king. Lear gets rave reviews and the Tony committee says we're not gonna nominate her now. No, we're paying attention. And we're gonna come back and get you our best actress in a musical. Stephanie, j block in the share show Caitlyn Kanoun in the prom Beth level, in the prom, Eva nobles, ADA in Haiti's town, and Kelley O'Hara and kiss me cake. Stephanie j block who is that theater veteran is playing share in a way that sometimes she's more share than share. You might think this is just an escapist show thing to know she finds the character of who she is share shows up at this show often does numbers with her, and pus share. There's who's a bigger Hollywood. Name who is coming to Broadway with the show about herself. It takes three actresses to play here. But Stephanie j block plays the central one. And she plays the hell out of it. So she has just got to win. I'm sorry, people. All right. Best featured actress in a play for new of Flanagan in the Ferryman seal, you keep. And Bolger into kill a Mockingbird. Christine Nelson, Gary a sequel to Titus andronicus Julie white and Gary sequel to Titus andronicus and Ruth Wilson and King Lear people if you see if you see to kill among bird, and you should seal, you Keenan Bolger is very controversial because she's playing scout scout in the book and in the movie remember is in eight or nine year old girl. A C Keenan Bolger is in her forties. And yet, what she finds in this character who grew up to be Harper who wrote this novel is the heart and soul of the peace. So I'm telling you people this, this has got to happen. See Keenan Bolger remember that name best featured actor in a play birdie Carville and ink, Robin to hasten boys in the band getting Glick into kill a monkey bird, Brandon your Ranna wits in burn this Benjamin Walker in Arthur Miller's. All my sons birdie, Carville in ink. Those of us, those of you who actually went to Broadway couple of years ago and saw of any kind of a musical where you were shocked at a man playing a woman, you saw birdie, Carville in Matilda, and he played this woman, this horrible headmistress, and now he's playing Rupert Murdoch. So every who in Hollywood, who in politics would anyone hasn't been in an Rupert Murdoch publication or paper and who hasn't been rolled over the coals in it that performance and in London when he played it in one and Olivia ward, he had to play it in front of Rupert Murdoch. It's just an incredible job. I wanna talk a little about the snubs in this category. The non nominees there isn't actor named Bengal Arghanab into Killa mugging bird who plays Tom Robinson. He is the black man who is on trial for raping a white woman, a crime never committed. And he's defended. By Jeff Daniels. Atticus Finch when Aaron Sorkin adapted Harper Lee's novel to the stage. He did it so that he could expand the role of the black characters as he did here. And again, the Tony committee, decided only to nominate the white actors from tequila, Mockingbird ignoring the two black actors who are just brilliant in their roles. You people you're going to get called on the carpet. You need to all right? Best featured actress in a musical, Lilli Cooper in Tootsie, amber, gray and Haiti's town Sarah, styles Tootsie, alley stroke, or in Rogers and Hammerstein Oklahoma and Mary, Testa in Rogers, and Hammerstein Oklahoma there, something totally remarkable that happened this year in stroke, and Oklahoma. This is a woman who when she was two years old was in an automobile crash, and was never able to walk again. And now on Broadway playing eight oh Anne who is like the sexual. Time bomb in Oklahoma, the one who sings, I can't say, no, the part went to Allie. Stroke, she plays it in a wheelchair and you would think that's inspiring enough. But when you watch her play at you, forget the wheelchair exists, and you're watching her take over the stage like Dolly Parton. She, it's just an amazing thing to watch and it works on so many levels. So I wanna be there when she wins that Tony, and I want to be standing up and applauding and going Bravo. She deserves all right. Best featured actor in a musical Andre shields in Haiti town and a groups Luccin. That's a good name into Patrick page in Haiti's town germy, pope in into proud the life and times of the temptations and Ephraim Sykes ain't too, proud the life and times of the temptations, the favorite, the one, I think will win is under the shields and Haiti's town. He's seventy three years old. He stands on that stage is the narrator in like a silver suit. In total control of body and every movement and pulls you in till you're memorized. Your mesmerizing you not take your eyes off of hundred shields. This is a veteran actor who needs to get this Tony. But what if he didn't who would go to there's a young actor named Jeremy pope who plays Eddie kendricks in the into proud the life and times of the temptations? And who does he's playing a difficult man. One of the most difficult of the temptations. But one of the most talented as well. He's also nominated this year as best actor in a in a play in choir, boy, this is to me, the brightest newcomer that you will see on the stage and you're going to see him everywhere, stage movies television. It's just the beginning. So if you get to see this, you're going to be able to tell your friends, I was there win. Okay. Best director of a play Rupert Gould for Inc. Sam Mendes for the Ferryman Bartlett. Fair for to kill a mocking bird Ivo von Hosver for network, and George C Wolfer Gary a sequel to Titus andronicus Sam Mendis in the Ferryman this play. Does a job on stage that equal to his first movie which was American Beauty, which you may remember won the best picture? Oscar and once Mendis the Oscar as best director.

"Vanity Fair? Just dropped. A giant cover story on Star Wars. The rise of Skywalker. Beautiful pictures by Annie liebowitz of the cast, including Cal Ripken. And girl. I was quickly reading stuff through all the commercial breaks. They revealed a lot more than I thought they would reveal Lum. They confirmed that Jj Abrams. Good friend, and miss Felicity herself, Keri, Russell is in this movie. Rumors that she was ended there. She couldn't confirm it. Well, Vanity Fair, confirmed it and even showed her costume. It is a kick costume. She plays hold on a minute. It's a cool name to her costume is awesome. Let's see here there. She is. She plays a bad guy. She is a K. Russell masked scoundrel by the way. That's also what we call dawn masked, scoundrel, Zora, bliss who Zoe bliss and her mask is awesome. I want that mask. They also confirm that Kylo Ren. And Ray may have a deeper connection than has been previously revealed. Oh, which I'm shocked Vanity Fair wrote that hill. Richard E grant, people love him. He is a general. He's a bad guy. And now I'm really going out. And then I'll stop because mytalkers if you're not a nerd, you're like white Don, you'll love this. It is confirmed that the knights of Ren are in this movie there. The thought there, the elite guard that was mentioned in the force awakens. So they're in this to their favor. They've revealed some planets. Yeah. It's it's that's a lot. I'm shocked. And I know you're not a nerdy, rolling your eyes going. I don't understand the big deal. They are usually so secretive, but they gave a lot of details of light, basically what we can expect, and it's a lot, and they show a they even have a picture of the final lightsaber scene between Tyler and Ray it looks like they're in a body of water on crashed there on top of like a tie crashed typhi ter-. Oh, wow. They are showing a lot. They're showing the law, which are are beautiful, and Billy Dee Williams. Looks amazing shot of him in the cockpit of the millennium falcon. Annie liebowitz is so amazing. She's such a good photographer. Yeah. Oh, I'm just beyond

"And there are times to launch nukes when someone. Yes, if they wanna come to me, privately like, I didn't even get a chance to respond to the DM. So I so I didn't. But if you want to send me a DM, and then not give me a chance to say or do anything, especially about an account that I don't control. I don't really care that much about being polite. If you're going to call me out pub. Cly before I've even had a chance to say something to you privately. There was a more professional way they could handle that like they literally just could've sent you guys a private message. Hey, I think some of the streams, but I don't even understand why they would come at you that hard because it was flipped free publicity for them. Like they were getting they acted like it was like a terrible tweet that had their name on it. It was a treat advertising alive show. And they got salty. And how much exposure do you think they got that was like way more than they normally? Right, right. And it's not like, we're enemies or anything had wish him the best. It's all good. They don't say a chance. But I want them to you know, I'm not opposed them doing. I don't think of I don't think about it. Well, but I've been around longer than us, actually. The fell has been around much longer than the NFL, by the way. Right. The Canadian Football League. I mean, it's just it doesn't. It's all good. There's lots of room for everybody. But there's only like I hate to say those who really wanna push it and make it a show. There's only like one top spot for who would win. That's us. Now with that being said, I I wanna kinda get your impressions on C J. If you if you have any different thoughts on Kylo Ren versus deadpool. Is there a way because I'm thinking about this? Is there a way for Kylo, Ren, like takeout? Luke Skywalker at the end of the last year. I and put Kylo Ren there. Okay. In that environment is put deadpool there. I'm sorry. Is there way for Kylo Ren to win? I said at the beginning of the show Kylo Ren's force. Stasis ability is very potent he froze Ray in place, even though Ray is this everyone complains that array does everything awesome Ray is that's her job in the script is to be awesome. And she is awesome in the script. But she was completely powerless against the four stasis. I think he would endebted pool does not have any defense against the force. So Kylo is best chance is not to let deadpool get close to him because I don't think that's going to go. Well for him. If if dead pool gets close and starts hacking, Adam Kylo does not have a healing factor. The force does give him some healing properties. Which I think we saw after he took a hit from a freaking Bo caster and kept fighting even if it was a glancing blow, but if if Kylo keeps dead PU frozen with the force keeps in held in place. He can jar around with it. He can knock them around with it levitated him with it. But hold them in place. Hold his arms fully extended hold his legs fully extended. And then just go up with the lightsaber chop off each arm each leg and his head then hit him with a force wave, which is the level three of force push. It's where you basically can launch groups of people away from you with a wave of energy hit a force wave knocking every piece in multiple directions than deadpool's done for good. I wouldn't say done for good. Then that gives him Kylo Ren the ability to walk away safely when the fight. But there's a lot of components to that plan. And my whole thing is it's not that. He can't use the force. I just didn't see him being able to use the force affectively in in a fight the way he would need to for example in the last Jedi. I now this by the way, this would have been a completely different matchup. If it was Kylo Ren from force awakens versus deadpool. Right. So the last Jedi revealed a lot of weaknesses of Kylo, Ren..

"I could have been why I feel like they're really they're really could have been more. I you you know, you really were kind of focused on repping up deadpool like you normally do. So I did not really hear a whole lot of bitterness or mockery for Kylo. Ren. I feel like you could have done much better job for that. I'll do that next time wherever you again next. I'm Jay what what what were your thoughts on this on this episode? I mean, let me say this. How do you feel about Kylo Ren in general in general? I feel like there was man. This is tough. This is tough. I liked him in the force awakens. Let's talk about the good things his opening scene. And Jack who where he rolls in there. And just takes everybody out. He did that like, you know, like, gee, I mean, he was good. He stopped completely completely agree with stopped blaster bolt in mid air. You know, no one had ever seen that force power. So it, but it was not overpowered. It was it was within believability of what the force could do. But no one had seen that before. So that was good. But then somewhere between Kylo I also debut, and I'm sorry to have to bring it up crystal. But the last Jedi I where he in. The finale is standing down to fight Luke on the the war planet there. I just don't buy it. He's not an opponent for Luke. He's not on Luke's level. Which was kind of the point in that loop. Didn't really even fight him. Luke. Learned the final lesson or the final lesson. I guess from that OB wanted taught him that there are alternatives to fighting, and he sacrificed himself to let the resistance in the hope of the galaxy get away, of course, if he had shown up in person, he might have just kind of ended the war right there. But that's another point. So yeah, I don't know what happened between that great. I seen and that last final scene, and we still don't know. What's going to happen? Episode nine. I have a question for you guys episode nine. I know how to answer this. Are you both going to see it when it comes out in theaters? Yeah. Yes. I that's not a question. I am. Okay. Cool. I don't think I I'm not sure if I will. Well, yeah. Because I was so put off by like I wanna see what happens to Ray. And by the way, my favorite character in the new Star Wars is Finn. Nice. And I think what they did to Finn in the second. Film was such a travesty. You advocate. I thought he was going to be forced sensitive..

"For deadpool two and with FOX being purchased possibly by Disney. This debate could happen one day so in real life. So maybe they can reschedule this one with a much higher budget. But I certainly respect your choice in tip my hat to James, even though Kylo Ren will probably go slit his wrist with his lightsaber somewhere. Well, he is very IBO. So you know, is why do you think he has the cross guard with those little unnecessary sections of the lightsaber those for cutting? Oh. Oh that's for. I assumed it was for the excess heat that they had to have a vent came out the side there. But who way wait did did rage just out Star Wars nerd J? That was pretty awesome. Well, I like I said I read a lot of information. And it was very oh my God. I read more than I needed to. But anyway, having said that look at me vandal. Nerdy. Get you, man. That's excellent. Well, I j it is always a pleasure to debate with you. I had to also prepare way too hard for this. Because you just have you just had this way of bringing out. Excellent excellent arguments. And if you're not prepared in a debate with Jalen, you will lose one hundred percent of the time so up to you good, sir. So with that being said a great bike guys. Great battle. Ray? You're amazing as you. And welcome to the aftermath show of Kylo Ren versus deadpool. I'm your host James gaps. Join my co-host Jason land and the person who was not the moderator for this episode crystal storm, but crystal you listen to the podcast episode of counting dead will how would you have now not to ruin this? But everyone's of our known deadpool represented by me, of course, one and beat Kylo Ren. That's stupid ass mother. Anyway. So there's no there's no bitterness for me whatsoever. No bitterness whatsoever. How would you? If you're the moderator that be we had Ray Harford who was amazing. But of crystal storm was a moderator for Kylo Ren deadpool. What would have been different? Not a lot. Actually, I think Ray called this one correctly for me, it came down to I think you counted argue really well James about the his ability to teleport and get out of the four stasis, and then what really kind of kind of haunted in for me was the fact that j agreed with you when he said that deadpool was the better fighter so and deadpool being deadpool and kind of just always managing to kind of win in his situations and Kylo Ren being Keller ran so I would have I would have given the match to deadpool. But I almost I think that if you did this bait debate again in the current format, I think it would have been a lot closer because I think Jay would have had more points. More information to kind of go after deadpool a little bit. Even though I'm not a fan of Kylo, Ren. I think it could have been a closer fight that it was. But just listening to the episode. I wouldn't give it to deadpool. J and Chris just one thing. I'm not sure if this came across did my bitterness for Kylo Ren as a character come across in this episode because I really was focusing on my bitterness. I have for Kylo Ren is a character. Really not too much..

"It is it is except when deadpool breaks the fourth wall is not just him saying. Aware of a character. He literally breaks through the fourth wall and goes into the real world. So right now, he's in the real world going to over. He's just taking an Uber over to Burbank right now. He's just left my house, and he's fighting the writers over at Disney, and he's going to tell them, you know, he's gonna threaten them either. I don't want to kill them as going to hurt them badly or severely coerce them into killing off Ren. Because it's the right thing to do. Well, so you're carbonates not gonna work because he's not even there anymore. He's gone. I would just end by saying that you're nuts. If you think deadpool's more powerful than Disney. I like that that we are in full agreement. So now, we've made also points Ray you've had time to hear both sides way back and forth. What do you think? What is your decision who we who wins between Kylo Ren? And did will. Oh, I like you said his name, right. That time. I already made my point about Kylie Ren being just like the stars of the car ins, and I'm sticking to that. So good. I write it kept you laugh at all time. All right. So here's the deal. All right. I did a lot of research on both of these characters. I read way too much and I absorbed very little because after a while it all blurs together. But here's the deal. I don't this battle takes place in the Star Wars universe. Correct. Okay. So takes place in Star Wars universe, which gives Kylo Ren the advantage because he's able to use his force powers. However, I don't see him taking out deadpool. And I'm surprised didn't bring up the shit talking because deadpool is an excellent shit talker. He loves to go at people's weaknesses. And once he finds it. He'll stay on that until the very end be that as it may, man. This is a tough one because you both argued excellently back and forth. But I gotta go a deadpool on this one. I gotta give it to James. I really feel that Kylo cannot beat deadpool. I just don't see it as a possibility especially being that deadpool has teleport her and all he needs to do is get into Kylo Ren head and then teleport over here. Real quick. He's got the advantage game over anybody. No. I love that decision. I agree. One hundred percent with that Kylie ran has no. Chance against it. Will check out I'm the ghost of Christmas. Jay, you know, what I can't wait.

"Jay gulfport. All right. So Kylo Ren. You know, we've said Kylo strings said deadpool strengths. Let's not forget though that dead pool knows he's in who would win debate right now. He's seen the Star Wars movies. He's a mega Star Wars fans. So he knows who is he knows his powers. He wants killed an agent just for saying he liked the prequels. So he would know Kylo from Star Wars know, his powers Kylo doesn't know much about him. So since dead pool was such a huge Star Wars fan and passionate Darth Vader supporter. He would consider it an honor to lose this battle to Darth Vader's grandson. Or like James deadpool thinks Kylo Ren is the worst thing to happen to Star Wars since jar jar Binks, and he would just kinda lose interest in the fight and walk away. He's done that before in other fights, by the way, if he's not interested in it. So he probably will say like Kylo, you're worse than the cancer. I already have. I'm just going to get away from you. Okay. All right, James. What do you got? Well, I have a kind of a similar point in the fourth wall awareness that I think it's called medium awareness. So deadpool absolutely knows he's in a debate right now. He's he knows what I'm about to say he's pretty much right here beside me right now. And he's whispering something hold on. Wait. Wait. What what you saying? I know. I know is not really a man. I know I know you saw bench, right? I know it's crazy. It's crazy. Yeah. Race cool race cool. Yeah. He'd smokes a little too much. That's fine. Anyway, deadpool, and I just have a little talk. And here's the thing. He would actually he just told me he would actually break the fourth wall find the writers of Star Wars and a director to and what he would do is bring Darth Vader back. Somehow, maybe is a force ghost to help Kylo Ren actually, Kylie Ren be less of these Star Wars equivalent of the Kardashians. And actually what he would do. I have Kylo Ren accidentally choke on some food or something instead kitchen that he's fighting right now he'd pass on and Darth Vader with somehow come back a clone Darth Vader and be the villain Star Wars deserves Lou. Ooh. Well, I dark empire call they want their plot back. Don't laugh on the only one here that gets that joke. But no video game. I know and not Arkan Ponza comic book series, you fool, you fool. Flu. The cloned for returns in that series. There's also a clone Darth Vader in some of the old galaxy of fear books, but that's a whole nother story. So why isn't he being used right now? Well, that's legends. That's been taken out of continuity. But I love your idea about the throwback to Darth Vader. I have one more bonus tactic. And that's the refrigerator in the first order kitchen has carbonite freezing freezing setting. So if deadpool was frozen in carbonates, it wouldn't matter if his healing factor works you just freeze them in there. He can't get out unless you press the buttons and release them. But it does Kylo Ren have that ability. It's not an ability. It's machinery, and yes, he has access to it right there in the kitchen is bridge. Right. Yes. He has it in his bridge bridge acts as. As you all refrigeration unit for Rhode Island wishes he had in his house and also as a way to trap people of this is a big ass fridge, by the way, if it's going to trap like deadpool, it isn't big ass for in store kitchen. Just for Kylie, Kylie ran or is it for they've got a feeling that this has to the battle. I mean, they've got a feed all the stormtroopers. They've gotta feed FAZ Mus note. I don't think Huq's eats very much, but you know, a little, but you know, Kylo Ren wants to be like his grandfather. And his grandfather froze his father in carbonate in The Empire Strikes back. He obviously has issues with his father. So he's going to try to freeze dead pool in carbonite to imitate his grandfather. Okay. But you gotta admit carbonite is a good counter to the healing factor and immortality..

"Let's let's focus on the point at hand here, which is excuse me, whether or not I'm going to allow this into evidence or into the debate knowing that it's been there for four years now. I didn't know that before I would say, yeah, I think this is something we gotta push into the too especially since he still has the ability hasn't lost it yet. So this is something that's still ongoing. I think I think it's gotta be allowed. Panel. Very well. Very well. But I will also points out that I don't have to kill deadpool to win the debate. I just have to win the fight. Jab jab. Wrong way, which brings Greek my second point. And that's the force. Okay. Kylo Ren has the force, and I would suggest a combination force attack with the four stasis technique that Kylo Ren uses to freeze people or blaster bolts in place combined with force choke in the wolverine weapon x series by Jason Aaron they showed that a healing factor can be negated by drowning your opponent just like James gaps. He found out at birth losing so much oxygen can make you go brain dead. And deadpool's almost there already. So Kylo can use the force to freeze deadpool in place and then showcase until he goes brain dead. And if he needs to drown him, he can just, you know, cry a small puddle of tears. Very good at that. You know? And what do you got James? How do you? How are you gonna counter that? I just find the so funny that someone saying that I didn't have enough oxygen at birth. Meanwhile, he was born in like, a shed. Right by the local sheriff who was also the local as the best hospital in Alabama. I'll have you know, sir. Yeah. Hospital. With three ELLs and a capital P. And yeah, listen, I'm sure Jebediah is a great doctor. But you know, whatever it, by the way, how tall are you? I I am five foot six in shoes. Yeah. You're born. If you were born a real hospital. How tall do you think? He would have been. Wow. I've never thought about that. Before. There you go. And just like I'm sorry in the last. There was a healing factor. Character who was straight up killed by drowning in uncanny x force. And that was Dakin the son of wolverine takes lick it and caves on guess not. So yeah. Drowning someone with a healing factor. Is a good move as well. And since the fight takes place in a kitchen Kylo Ren would probably do it in the sink. It would probably turn them on a little bit to drown pool in the sink. I'll be honest. Lot of energies between deadpool, and Jason I term I think it would turn both of them on just like it. Probably turns Kylo on to look at pictures of Laos strapped to Java the hut. That's floating around on the internet in the Star Wars galaxy..

"So cool. You can tell them he wants to say more. Yes. They should listen to him from the gecko. But that's a whole. We could do a whole other podcast. All that. I think so I disagree because do you know what Mark Hamill's backstory for Luke Skywalker was after the movies? What was his backstory in his mind? He said, I think that Luke gave up being Djeddai for awhile and married. A widow and one day a his stepson found his lightsaber turned it on and killed himself down, and Luke and Luke went into hiding again and Luke went back out of just removed himself from the galaxy because he felt so guilty about it. My dad Mark that kinda got dark real fast that escalated quicken. A better reason for him to remove himself from the galaxy than the reason we got let's I don't think ariza's no reason. But by the way, but by the way, it's not like they didn't have I don't know decades of amazing books in Gaul macbooks and stories video games to pull. Some cool stuff. Oh is that? Right. That's equal love. It would have been a better business decision to they're doing that very well with the comics and the novels like and Star Wars rebels show is what is probably the best example. I don't know why they can't do more of that with the mainstream and people will tweet me and say, no if you look at the deleted scene on this DVD and freeze frame at this moment. You will see that the the carburetor from the second thronged trilogy. Book does make a cameo. And it's like, yeah. If you have to show it if you have to explain it to me that much they it's not there. But it's definitely there with the rebels with thrown and the the tie defenders like the best star ships from some of the typhi or games in the nineties. Those were a huge plot point in Star Wars rebels. Where do we get that in the in the new films? I don't know. We don't know. And that and that's kind of a great point to leave. It. We will talk about that more in the aftermath of the classic edition of Kylo Ren verses deadpool. So now, we're gonna play the episode, but don't go away when it ends because me James and crystal will be back for the aftermath. Enjoy the episode, and we will see I will see you in the aftermath daycare. A long time ago in Polk nave far far away. "And you mentioned how you felt that because it's battle took place in the kitchen of the of some ship or someplace he was at that. The fridge could also be a carbonite. Well, that's something. And that's something. I couldn't get away with now with the more defined rules that we've made they've just kinda volved over time with like, crystal what she said, you know, the three points rebuttals final decision, and that also the environment can't play a role chance encounter, no preparation. So it wouldn't be a thing where I could really argue carbonite. But it's just kind of cool to think about sometimes it's just throw in the cool story elements for who would win debate. Speaking of story, the Kylo Rinta pool was the first time we ever had the. The battle intro. And now that's a big part of the show. That's true. That's true. You know, who knew that Jay had these talents. And when he's like, I can do an inch. Only did it. I'm like, this is good. This is really good. Yeah. I also have to add one little note, you guys both know this. But maybe the listeners don't I'm not a fan of Kylo Ren as a character. I'm not a fan of Colorado. I love right. I think she's great and one of the main arguments that people make when they say Kyle random Ray say why is Ray so powerful compared to Kylo Ren. And I don't think that necessarily super powerful. I just think that Kylo Ren is really weak. You know? And so people were using ample in the force awakens, they really they forgot that he fought shot shui chew shoots him right after the events that happened in the force awakens. And then because I gotta give him props. He's a little bit of a crazy bad ass. He then goes on to have the lightsaber battle with two other people. I I really feel like if Kylo Ren had not gotten shot at the end of force awakens Ray in fin would have died. I do I do feel. I do feel like that. And I just don't wanna talk about the shot because enrages me so yes. Yeah. That's that's so I did something that some people weren't happy with I kept referencing. Kylo Ren is Kylie rent as one of the Kardashian sisters of Star Wars. Nice for for various reasons, he entitlement in now with that being said, I actually and this is where I'm going to kind of admit something weird. I actually respect the Kardashians and the jenner's because they're billionaires at twenty you know, and what they've done is pretty. Sane. So it's not a slam on them is just a more of a slam on Kylo Ren did. I just had to clarify that a lot of people direct message me saying what do you have against the Kardashians? And white is nothing Kardashians. I think why not put them in Star Wars. Why not with where it's going? But I just feel like Lorenzo I feel like I just I I love Adam drivers a great actor. He played the character. Exactly the way he was supposed to play the character. I just don't like that character adult Kylie Rin Cuyler N sits in front of a you know, a Darth Vader helmet. And it's like. Mccosh grandfather show me the way, he's digestion grandfather. As brushing his hair, you know, and just kind of thinking. Yeah. And you know, what I think it's it said something about the carry that. Because like all the Skywalker. I think maybe except like laya were super freaking emo-. They just were they was just shuttling except lay. Right. There was just a lot and not. She doesn't get her full. Do. She doesn't get her full. Do think about how bad ass a female Princess and a nineteen seventy seven movie who in one of her first scenes with the heroes grabs the blaster and says somebody's got to save our skins and just start taking out troopers nominal Kylo Ren would sit back, and, you know, write a poem. How blasters hurt his feelings tantrum right in the hallway because he was getting his way because he's. Just the child. Yeah. So. Yeah. In you know, and whiny Luke before he grew up, and then you kind of rain, you're just like, no, no. Did you guys see any of the YouTube videos of Mark Hamill complaining about Lou Skywalker in the last Jedi a little bit? Yes. I like that light of dawn..

"I go the opposite of going nuts. Just go quiet, and I get really like start thinking like what what happened there that was not good. And I remember talking with Jay and Ray, and we all kind of agreed that this was not we could do better. We knew we were great show crystal when you came on board. I mean, we continue we got even better. And we all realize if we're gonna make this real go with this show. I mean, we don't even call. It a podcast we call it the who would wind show. That's what we think about it. Right. We knew that. This was the point where this is a turning point. Let's take the next level. And then we came up with Kylo Ren versus dead. Pool. And it went the show went nuts after that. So let's talk about Jay you had Kylo Ren I had deadpool. What what was your thought going into that show? How are you going to try to make Laurent beat deadpool? Probably like riding lots of death slam poetry, and you know, maybe just talk him to death because I'm pretty sure I could have made some better points about how dead pool probably would have shot himself until his healing factor were out with just listening to Kylo Ren talk for a little while. But now it really came down to the force and the points that I tried to make that I think were valid points. And not really answered is what's deadpool gonna do against Kylo rinse force stasis technique where he just freezes him in place dead pool. Doesn't have a defense against the force can't move and Kylo Ren's lightsaber cross guard saber could just cut him into pieces separate the pieces and walkaway safely. Well to answer that and before I answer that crystal. What are your thoughts? What we thought on this episode? My thoughts on this episode were that you guys have gotten a lot better at debating points. It was it felt like the early stages of who would win show. It was not the level of debate that I that I have come to kind of expect from you guys. It wasn't bad. And I can see why you guys were like excited about it. But it was it very it felt it did it felt like the early stages rate in a great job of moderating and keeping you guys in. He also you guys were like definitely winning as far as the moderator goes. But I wanted a lot more especially because it was Kyle Renan deadpool like I was ready for your four point four Matt in the counterpoint s-, and it was short. But it was a lot of fun to listen to definitely was just like all more points more arguments like where where is where is the point number one the full full-point in the counterpoint like where is it? So you're saying that like you saw what we have now in the early stages, but we've still developed since then, and what what I would say is like that was the first time we had any kind of format. It was a lot more free form in the first thirteen shows. Wouldn't you say so James? Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Yes. That was just it was I hate to say the first few shows were pretty much like the vast majority of of not good podcasts out there. Just two people three people kinda talking it. Definitely. Yeah. I yes. Yes. It that four. But you I mean, it was it was getting there like you were you were getting there and Ray hat, the idea of putting in the sound bites and really making this feel more like a show make it more fun. And what have you? Dancer, Jay's point with the staff the stasis that, you know, Kyle Rankin put deadpool in the thing with deadpool's that he walks around with like a Tele porter or two. So even if he's held the one spot he could tell a port out of that spot. Yeah. It's hard to teleport porter. When you can't touch yourself, and we all know how much dead pool likes touching himself. C J. You always take it there. I'm not sure if I value that or I'm creeped out by that. But that's not interesting point. Remember one of his teleport's was like a in his wrists that he could touch their or his bell to just I mean, I get it..

"And welcome to the before math a very special before math. I'm James gatty. And we're always joined by Jason Lee. Absolutely amazing. Crystal storm, crystal we miss you for the last podcast, but we had Brian Leo Kurt do a great job to that being said mischief. I missed you guys. I did Brian to bring it in ten we're gonna I actually I actually did miss you that much. So Brian sounds exactly like you almost like that's funny. I listened virtually identical to. Brian did a great job. And he sounds nothing. Like, crystal the volume level is nothing like crystals either. True now with that all that we're doing kind of a cool thing. We've never done before were break. We're gonna re released as a classic addition. A very big landmark episode for who would win. It was Kylo Ren versus dead pool. I think we did this back in was it December of two thousand seventeen either that or January two thousand eighteen but it was one of around that time. And I've got some reasons why I think it was a landmark episode J, y you feel we've talked about this. Why do you feel? This was a landmark episode for before you answer that for those. Who may not know we actually did quite a few episodes from August two thousand seventeen up to the Kyle Wren deadpool episode. We got rid of all those for various Pacific reasons. So J tell tell me tell us why you think Kylo Ren versus deadpool was a a pivotal turning point for the who would win show. Okay. First off. I got really stressed out because it was not supposed to be Kylo Ren versus deadpool. I don't know how behind the scenes we're gonna get here. I think we should just lay it all out there. It was supposed to be Kylo. Let's not go to not go into these Pacific. Hang on. Well, okay. So we did what we did Kylo. No, no, no. I'm not gonna point anything. Here's unless they're at myself. But we did Kylo Ren versus Black Panther was the original idea we recorded Kylo Ren versus dead pool. I was just looking up the date. It was January tenth twenty eighteen. So here we are first of November twenty eighteen and when we've thought of Kylo Ren versus Black Panther. We decided to scrap it scrap the idea for many reasons, and the main one was that we thought we needed a new format we needed something. Catchier more fun, better quality, better produced. Yes, I don't remember. We we had Ray Harford as the moderator and Ray was just as awesome, not just moderator, but great influence on the show. He just for those who don't know Ray Harford was the one who said. Is you got to keep pushing it you gotta keep making this bigger and better he shared in the bigger vision of who would win and he was right? So we did the deadpool versus Black Panther episode, which we never aired. And for various reasons, I kind of lost it a little bit. And when I lose it, I go, quiet..
