The craft service table is not up to your standards. What is it? You're kissing pretty girls. What the fuck is the forget it? I swear all these all these actors and celebrities are just wussies, man. A girl from our state is about to jet set halfway across the world with an idea she's convinced will boost the self confidence of others, as Brian Calvert shares the idea came from her very own personal experience. Kenzie Kate and does what many ten year olds do. She plays with her friends, the Vancouver girl is also a big basketball fan and she even goes hunting with dad. And she does it all with the help of cochlear implants. You see kenzie was born deaf, and as she approaches her teenage years, she's keenly aware that the device is sticking out of each side of her head, aren't super fashionable, so every day she covers them in stickers, different designs for different days and occasions, making her own fashion statement. Kenzie's mom Kelly. Right now, but that would require putting a sticker on, taking it off each time and they're not reusable. It's just kind of a waste. It makes the implants themselves sticky and kenzie thought there must be a better way to spruce up the implants. So, she came up with an idea. My invention is to have a cochlear implant that has the ability to automatically change against anything I want just by clicking a button and then app. Pretty cool, right? I thought it would make the implant more fun and creative and people could be more proud of them. The idea was submitted along with 349 others in a contest soliciting ideas to improve the lives of those with hearing impairments. It's called ideas for ears, and out of 350 entries, the girl from Vancouver, Washington, took first place. Now Kinsey is off to Australia, where she'll meet with other international winners of the contest and present ideas to those who make the cochlear implants. I feel really excited. I don't think it would be fun to meet kids from different countries that are like our deaf like me. Her idea was meant to offer confidence and perhaps a sense of pride for those who have to wear the devices. Kenzie's mom tells kpt, the girl was the first to receive that extra boost from this project. I was just super proud of her, I thought this would be a great confidence booster for her. Sometimes being different can be hard, especially when you're that age, so it was fun to see kind of her excitement and kind of her confidence grow. Ryan Calvert, northwest news radio.
