"To ninety one Talladega. You break your leg pretty badly. Was there ever a point where you considered maybe hanging your helmet up and picking the Guitar Hero? No no you know what I'm going to I've I've thought about this a lot And I think you'd think about things different when you when you listen. Put it this way sitting at this table and we're sitting at a long table for these people listening sitting at this table. The table looks different. Than if I go to that end in La backwards and looking back on my life and the sport then when when the wreck happened I have to go back to Friday? Hassler and Larry Smith and so many guys that I had seen be killed at a racetrack. Markle Randy on pit road. They've Watson in the accident in his Jackman Atlanta so you grew up a grew up and I by no stretch by no stretch of the magic nation. Do I do. I'll just say that I was not. I was always in my mind if you if you could maybe not walk but if you could talk and you're breathing when they pulled you out you just got back ended at some point down the you know what I mean. That's the way it was. Because death was a part of the sixties and seventies death was just a part of the sport you know and a lot of people talk about. But when you're seven or eight and you're playing with kids in the Infield and then their father is killed and you never see those kids again. It has an impact. Your I mean I mean you don't you don't think about it at that time but eventually it begins to set in and you know. I think there were a lot of times man. Were you'd see rex as a kid and you'd think and then they would get out and it's like okay. That's good well. You know you shouldn't have to think that way at seven or eight years old you know I mean people should and so. I think when the accident happened man I I could tell you know I could breath. I knew I had a broke leg. I'd have plenty of bones. I wrote motorcycles. My whole life I had lots of broke bones bones with heal and I was I was stunned that it was going to be five or six months or maybe longer according to the doctor but Because I hadn't thought about that but I never thought about not getting Racecar Nineteen ninety-two Winston. All Star as you are part of NASCAR history. Because that's one of the most memorable finishes ever. What do you remember about that finish the last lap? Here's what happened. I the last laps. Incredibly simple for me Is We had a good car and but couldn't go. It took a laboratory to get going but had a really good car was not good in the first segment and Robin made an adjustment in the second segment and it came to life and they dropped the green flag on the last segment. And I don't even know how many what what lapse lapse were anyhow. But I could kill him through one and two and I got a good run on earnhardt to one and two and got down below him and he just kept coming and he kept calming calm calming and it's not a points race you know. That's all I remember as much as anything else is not a points race so if we're GONNA stuff it in down here would stuffing in down here. So when we got there he. We both had to slow down and swing out to go around the corner. We weren't coming from the natural position of off the wall into the corner. You had to go from the bottom back out and then get into the corner and he turned into the corner. His car was just loose and he just spun around when he spun. He Spun Right in front of me. So I had to slow down again so then here comes Davey and Davies. Common at full head of steam already on the low side and he's coming so fast there is no blocking. You know what I mean and for all you people out there. Nobody blocked in those days. It was extremely frowned upon. And you give him the lane and he beats you back to the line but you you're doing all you can and then we hit touch when we passed the line and I will say it until the day I die is I compare that moment when I realized that we had touched to watch one hundred yards hard. One Hundred Yard Dash and watching runners stretch for the line and then fall. You know what I mean you. You give everything you've got and once you cross the line that's it and when we crossed the line we touched and ugly David. Hard really hard I don't think and I've said it to me on Tuesday. I talked to him Monday. And then he called me back on Tuesday or so. He's still in the hospital. I think and Maybe it was Monday and Juanita drive his Bush car in because he wasn't going to be able to run the Saturday race. But you know. The ugly manufacturer thing had begun to raise. Its head by that point in time in the sport and you can get out of one manufacturer into another one without them frown on it so I didn't have it so we never had any hard feelings. What what I've said in and Larry mcreynolds and those of us that are left Is You talk about that race and people still talk about that race but you talk about the race. You don't talk about fight you don't talk about. People cussing each other. You talk about the race because there were never any hard feelings between anybody that went through it from Robert Yates to Doug Yates to lay mcreynolds to Davy Bobby Mead Felix to EARNHARDT childress to everybody involved. There was a race. You mean and then we all went home and came back the next week and that's the way it was data that's to me. That's his as telling a moment as any other moment when we look because you want to argue about the past and the grass that never was a pass or you want to argue about rusty guys. And you know Spin En- Daryl and we just wasn't an argument that was just not to ninety three Daytona. Five hundred how are you going to be given Bob Hill in hard time like yet was easy? Yeah how are you going to give Bobby Hill in the person ever walked in that garage? That listen there's lots of Nice people that shouldn't be in race cars. Okay no Bobby Array Guy. Here's why I was mad at body and and and the only reason I was mad at Bobby. Because bobby the record happen we were coming through. And if you go back we will come through. And Bobby should in my opinion still to this day should've held his break and not let the car roll down the frustration because he let the car until all the cars had passed he should he should have held his break because nobody was coming hard after that so he just rolled down in front of us. So that's why bobby hard down. He said that you actually sent him a letter the next week my have probably we've talked about okay. Okay that's before they people text. I Guess Okay All Right. Consider that a tweet. Well Ninety two and ninety three finished fifth horns. Yeah both years. That's got to be an upscale. Feeling move on. The team has got to be pretty hot given that. Yeah but we'd had you know if we go back you know we changed from Gary to Robin and the sport was changing things. Some things were changing and You know I was. What mid Thirties by the and So I think there was a lot of stuff a lot of stuff changing if we go back to those those times but and we were good. We were good. We just could not seem to catch that. You have a lot of good second place. Third Place Fourth. Place just could not beat mark and Dale and those guys. I mean just couldn't beat them. That's that's listen and I've said it before everybody's not Dale Earnhardt. Everybody's not Richard Petty. Everybody's not Jeff Gordon. You know what I mean and It I'm a journeyman. I consider myself a journeyman driver. You know what I mean. That's Calloway won. Some races settled some polls had good career. That's the way it is but You know we just couldn't we just got to a place and you know and and that's about as far as we were going to go that's about as far as we were going to go. I think it was going to take. It was going to take a better driver for them to win. More races are it was going to take a shakeup somewhere but dang man we all got along so good it was like. I don't care if you don't like her music. We're GONNA keep playing that kind of thing if you were in a band. Yeah we don't care if anybody 'cause 'cause we got along everybody just got along so good so and then that begin the fall apart and Berry came over and you know I'm one my last race. There would vary Dotson and Keith Simmons. Those Gasden You know it was just a different group towards the end you did leave. Sabco at the end of ninety six. Yeah how difficult a decision was that crazy story crazy story coming from Kyle Petty. Yep No way this one of my crazier stories. So I'm thirty. Six Adam Sixteen right and I had looked at. I looked at my dad. Had Gone Back and looked at his his early career and where he was at And my and my granddad and here's what happened. My granddad started Lee Petty Engineering and so I was called and then it went to petty enterprises. So My dad came along at three drove. Okay so you fast forward from fifty eight to From fifty eight to seventy nine then. That's where I drove so here I am driving for Felix working out of Charlotte and I got a sixteen year old coming along and I got no place for him to drive no place for him to start so in my mind. I thought any I got. I got to go back to level across and that was not an option at that time With what what pity enterprises was doing when I think bobby was there was Bobby Hamilton. There bobby might have been there. And they were having some success they were. They were running solid so I didn't have an opportunity to go back there. I didn't think so. We're flying home on an airplane and there's group on the airplane with Felix and we're sitting there and There's a gentleman on the airplane. That's and he says he's we're talking about a bunch of stuff and Felix's has been a little upset because we haven't been running to to good and this gentleman on the plane says You know I think this is going to be. I'm going to have to go get another job. I'm going to go so I'm I'll finish out or you tell me when you want me to leave and let's just call it a day here at Sabco and Felix got little. He was a little upset and he looked straight at me. I'll never forget. He looks at me he said. I guess you'll be the next quit and I said Yeah. I think I'm quitting too and I said I'll go through the end of the year and I'm out and he said what it was that quick decision. Yeah I was just sitting on a plane. I was sitting on a plane and like I said the thought of giving Adam place had already come had already entered my head so it wouldn't so I quit quit on an airplane and thank God that didn't have parachutes. I'd quit on an airplane. Me and the guy. I'm not going to say who it is. This up to him they ever say and We instantly Started looking for how to start a team and I started volunteering to can't found hot wheels base Delta the mock shop. Okay Yeah we use the already mark shop. Bob was still there really was not seem everyday man and so towards concord speedway. Yeah and so. We raced out of there and was David Evans and Billy. Woodruff and myself and Bobby Kennedy who did a great job force great job and that year. You know we'd run. I think we're on fourteenth or fifteenth in points that year and I was incredibly proud of that group and what we did that year and Had at the end of that year I think we run one year out of there and then I moved back to level cross And then when Adam started with his finnity stuff I turn P to and to an extent eighteen. A bushing And gave him a place to drive. And then I had planned on That's that's just the way it was going to go. We were GONNA run run out of there for what couple years run one year one year out of out of remark thank and then went back to level cross. Run A couple of years there which takes me to ninety seven ninety eight nine right along in two thousand long there so there's the collar everything happened with that and you told me this amazing story about you and Dale Earnhardt during the four hours of Daytona. Yeah What do you remember about that. Not Yeah you know I've said this before And I'll go back to one step here is in my mind when I started this team when I left Felix and started this team. My goal was to build this team and then by by two thousand and two thousand one Than Two two thousand. Two thousand one was going to be my last year. How long drive anymore. Because I didn't want my career to overlap to deepen Adams career and back to my dad and my career where we were in the same place for so long together. The financial it wasn't going to be feasible. Only one of US could survive. I wanted them to survive..

No they sell but return. Eventually you get to a place where you're just not chasing the world. And he told me he said. I just didn't know what to say. Didn't know how to say and I didn't want to confront because I have a son in the true essence of Blue Cow. Pity is and the way. He's lived his life. I'm Steve Weight and my name is Rik Houston and welcome to the podcast presented by Q. Where Steve Lord? I have not gotten this thing figured out as many miles as I've walked and I'm still on track from I five thousand. I'm looking at every morning but yesterday when I walked it was thirty six degrees and of course layered up and I had actually four layers of shirts on so I was just NAS in cuffy and cozy and warm and everything will this morning I walked. It was forty six degrees so I lay up as much but it was overcast and the wind was blowing and just about froze my role rastafarian nine as off eighty four eighty five eighty four to chat up days of course the rain but and then they come back home here to Charlotte and you talk about a shock. Said if you need something to kill Tom during the rain delay and think that Kyle petty is only known as Richard Son. A listen to the same bought. Podcast will blow your mind about that. And he's right about that. And then Andy Austin at Andy Austin main. He responded the race. Poll story is thought. Three seed vault moment and you know what is? He's absolutely right but you know. I just think it's gratifying. That people are paying attention in recognize the fact that the content that we're providing is actually pretty doggone good proof. I A lot of fans are very interested in Nascar's past and hearing the inside stores of the pass. A story by more than one person has mentioned that now this week cow talks about breaking his leg so severely in nineteen ninety one in the way that he put it was kind of Amblin pay said basically if he could still breathe and could still talk and still respond. He was going to get back in the car. Yeah and then. He talks about the nineteen ninety-two the Winston All star race. The one that everybody remembers. Oh yeah one of the best ever that will be on the highlight reel forever and ever and ever and then finally he did talk about Dale Earnhardt's reaction after we lost Adam and then of course the same there on pit road before the two thousand one Daytona five hundred win. They wound up hugging right. Yeah so I thought that was pretty special and then in our second segment. I couldn't exactly figure out what issue features as our issue of the week so I went into one of the boxes. That Jamie Bishop gave us and I just picked one out at random just went to the middle of the bottom of the stack and just picked one out completely at random wound up with the July twenty first nineteen ninety four issue of West Cup Sane. Jeff Bohdan wins at pocono. And it's his first points win. After buying his team from the state of Alan quickey is also the first win for hoosier tires in their return to the sport and also in this issue. There was just this fantastic freelance piece written about Dick Beattie. I mean I was just stunned by the quality of this effort. You're off you hired me. I'M IT. It was pretty good but it was a fit of temporary insanity. Also this week Brad Harrison. Oh heave the cow petty tweet. He not only tweeted about this week. "The scene. Volkov cast your source for all things NASCAR history presented by uh-huh q.. Wire maintain excellence. I'm not sure what you paid. He's got a competitive bone in his body. Compared to my mom I felt really bad for the people that wrote the simply because they had lost somebody Pearson comes by and is loafers with a cigarette. He kind of nuts with his foot and he said Dan. We're going to have to get tougher if you run with us. We refer to it as far Falcon American racing avai NASCAR and all associated in any way. When that's forget it's passed as today? We don't have any hello. I'm Steve Way away and my name is Rik Houston and welcome to the scene vault podcast presented by Q.. Wear Steve I have the final tally for January. Or really yes I do. I did forty five point eight miles last month on foot. Okay okay now. I told you about the goal that I have to get to five two thousand by the end of the year so if I do forty five point eight if I do that every month this year I will have five hundred and forty nine point six six miles bad not bad but that would only give me four thousand nine hundred and sixty six point five miles on my app so that would mean that I would be thirty. Three point five miles short or you're going to have to pick it up. I'm going to have to take it well. You're definitely going to have to do that now. Also we have a pretty big announcement. We are going to start video when the interviews that we do from here on now and making those available over on our youtube channel and we have a really nice camera in hand. And we're going to try to do this the right way now. I will say it is. We are actually video and this now as we speak I think you were making fun of me a little bit for how long it was taken that folks. I WanNa take something we do this on video things are going to get ugly. Things are going to get ugly but then I think we already there. 'cause seriously I did use my cell phone to video our interview with Kyle petty just to kind of test test out what angle to us and everything and the sound actually turned out a whole lot better than what I expected. So what you're going to do way are going to debut are videoed interviews this week in conjunction with this episode and it will release eight. PM on Wednesday. So listeners listened listened to the podcast then head over to youtube and then watch the video interview with cow that Eric Quin Kinda edited and put together so big youtube stars. Are you ready for this kind of stardom or you're on the spot spirit and also be sure to subscribe to our Youtube Channel and once we get to one thousand listen. I've actually picked up another copy of the Winston Cup Sane. Del earnhardt publication that included the scene. Rysley for each of his seventy six points paying wins chance of one copy of that to one of our lucky youtube subscribers. That's fine price. If you are Dale earnhardt everything not this is up. Have now ask what people are going to be here in Ansi and US discuss with Kyle. He actually talked about growing up in the petty family. What it was like to be a part of a family that was so well So many and also he's going to touch on the expectations that both he and Dale Earnhardt Jr. faced being the heirs apparent to two do most successful drivers. The sport has ever known and they were pretty much on the spot rick when having to fill the shoes left by their fathers must have been an awesome awesome burden on. Both of. I think but as I'll discuss later on I think both of them came through it. Fine and then our second segment as S.. Most of our listeners. Already know John. Andretti lost his battle with colon. Cancer on January thirtieth Steve. He was such a good guy he was indeed and dealing with him as a member of the media container that he was very open. Very honest Very pleasant guy There was no question about it just almost too polite for his his own. Good you might say. But that was John and What else John? Lewis is friendliness to everyone. John always had that sly crooked smile mile on her face and Steve. I will say this back before Christmas. I had kind of put out feelers with his sister to see if he could possibly sit down with with us for an interview and she said that she would be glad to pass that long but to not be surprised. If I didn't hear back and I never did hear back so obviously John was going going through a really tough time so I do wish that we could talk to him but John. You're in a better place now absolutely so in our second segment. I actually sat down with our offramp Jamie Bishop. Who was John Gasman? When he won his first Winston Cup race at Daytona? And we talked about some of his memories that he had of working with John. John Andretti. That'll be very very good. Also on Patriots Steve. I don't know what's going on on patriotic but for the first time in January where we actually had more people actually dropped their support for one reason or another not understand that financial situations change and all that but we did lose a little ground over there so if you have been considering doing the patriotic thing please do consider helping us out. This support helps us do what we're doing the support. It helps us do the podcast. The support is going to start helping us do the videos that we're doing over on Youtube. If you appreciate what we do. Please do help us out five five dollars a month ten dollars a month twenty fifty. You guys know the drill. You know what's available. We've got commemorative issues of Grand National Sane. We've got classic issues. He's a Winston Cup. Saying we have three Steve Tracks rookie guards that are autographed and we also have the same podcast jackets jacket. So please do consider helping us out. It would be greatly appreciated over on paper on you can support us at Patriot dot com slash. "I love seeing it and regardless of your political stance, regardless of who you like is a race car driver. It's really cool to see NASCAR Representative at the White House each and every year. Definitely definitely. And finally, we got to Austin Dillon. We mentioned the whole the deck lid thing problem. And apparently he got a penalty this week, and it drops them in the championship standings. Yeah. So the penalty is a ten point penalty for the driver and current or which traps him from thirteenth points to fourteenth. He was nineteen points to the good and the playoffs. Now, he's only nine points to the good. So that's that's pretty big the crew chief at any time in junior fined twenty five thousand dollars teams car chief, Gregory. To suspended from this weekend's gander RV four hundred over. So that is a big thing. They're definitely let's head to Dover this weekend. Eight is just like Bristol identical in every way, only double the size kinda sorta something like that. I threw that at Kyle petty. And I think he thought I was smoking something. But anyway, I think he probably did too because he wanted over I know from from the furthest in the back of the pack that anybody has ever started. Okay. I knew that see. I am proud. I can't believe that. You know, things are right. It's called the monster mile, which is because it's a self cleaning concrete, high banked oval straightaways line by wall. So when you Reckitt kind of, you know, there's there's no room to avoid anything knows not open in nineteen sixty nine holds one hundred thirteen rabid screaming foaming at the mouth NASCAR fans. Although I doubt it will hold that many this this weekend. Well, you don't think we're having full houses time around. No why. Well, we haven't had so far have we we'll tell pretty full Daytona. I think it was a sell out on hold on. Looks full because the chairs are painted that way. Tell the it was pretty full. There was a good crowd there. I'm sorry. I was watching either qualifying or practice, and it looked like a total sellout with nobody there. Yeah. Okay. But it actually did have a lot of people on Sunday. I don't believe it. Okay. You can't tell. I don't know what race this is. I I lost count. But it's a one mile oval banking is massive at twenty four degrees in all the turns. And we've got an equal distant alert. Oop Equador and alert equidistant alert both the front and back stretches are one thousand seventy six feet. I could not be happier, man. This is probably the most exciting moment of carry Murphy's year right now. So we got four hundred laps which means it's four hundred miles. It's amazing. How that works out the stages carry or the first agents lap one twenty second stage a lap to forty in the final part of the race should be lab. Four hundred less. We go into overtime last year's winner was Kevin Harvick. And last year second race winner. There was chase Elliott who by the way also won Kansas which is the race after Dover and he won last week. So there's a lot of chase Elliott going on here. The ad definitely he'll be running a special. Napa breaks paints came this week. Looks kinda cool. It's black. Okay. Check out all the action to PM eastern Sunday on f s one by the way. I don't think we've mentioned it my favorite trophy and NASCAR this one. I like so this one you like this one. I absolutely like I would love to have a monster miles. The monster trophy in my my studio here, they sell many ones that are pretty big. I want a real one. I'll try to find you for your birthday, then I want I wanted on my front lawn. The way would approve of that. But I would love to see the reaction while you're HOA doesn't like lawn gnomes. That's all I guess it is. Like full-size a with the stockcar. Yeah. You could just be like the junior of trophies is cars out in your lawn us have all the old old NASCAR trophies in your yard..

"For tied ill in the. I know you love those. Nobody's. Why why aren't you more excited about that? That's really cool. I guess for tied Dylan why why are you such a Downer? Radka Slavsky spun is to car perfectly. He had the the first Pitztal coming into pit lane. And he landed in the stall backwards absolutely perfectly like a planet and his crew the entire stop like it was no big deal. Yeah. It was pretty awesome. I mean, you couldn't do that. Again, if you tried you would imagine. But did you see the Dave Reagan on race actually said he has he wouldn't be able to do that. Again. If you tried 'cause Lasca tweeted back approve it. It was pretty pretty impressive seven apps to go. Huge crash. Like, we mentioned Chris butcher. Matt Debenham detto Justin Haley and Martin junior. When all Merola dumped Bush or I mean, that's what it looked like anyway. Yeah, we're all Paul pulled in Austin Dillon, which is what happened to Admiral in the five hundred a couple of years ago. So role was on the the delivery end of this this time. But yeah, Chris butcher spun around and literally met Benedetto at nowhere to go and pretty much front of divinity car in the front of Bush's car slammed right into each other about one hundred ninety miles an hour, and that that was a hard hit that the the wreck everybody was talking about after the race even more. So than the winner. Huge massive wreck after the white flag included scary crash for the forty two of Kyle Larson. Involved was William Byron Jeffrey Earnhardt who was running. Well, David Ragan. Ryan Blaney was also in that partially. But yeah, man, Kyle Larson, slamming the wall wells kinda sideways and airborne. Yeah. And I've got a satellite feed for Talladega. Superspeedway, which is pretty awesome, blah, blah, and the satellite feed Larsen just up flipping right now. I'm watching it. He just stopped flipping finally an that's amazing a week long or nothing but just flipping. He's gotta be dizzy imagine. Probably anyhow glad he walked away his season. His dismal season. I think he'll his only finished one race and the one he fish was Daytona. I think he was even involved in several crashes in that and somehow got top ten finish. So he's he's pretty rough season to this point. And I know he's getting pretty worn out on it. But they're, you know, with the platform at the way, it is is long as you stick with it. And you somehow pull out a win where you're at as long as the top thirty. You're they're in the playoffs. So. He shouldn't give up just yet. But man, it's got to be very very trying on him at this point O'Connell petty. And I talk about that he's coming up next. We also talk about the state of NASCAR what they can do to become more popular if anything, and we also talk about his charity. Right. His twenty fifth anniversary of that thing. Kyle petty is next on T F L W. My name's Gary. Hey, I'm Toby Christie. And if you like what we do here at Tf L W all the ways known as the final lap weekly. We've got a patriot page at where you can donate to us, essentially, you're your tip. If you feel like we're doing a good job. And you wanna throw us a bone? "NASCAR. My name's Kerry. Murphy, I'm a longtime NASCAR media member syndicated radio host of all things the final lap. Our co host for the show is Toby Christie NASCAR editor from the final dot com. And social media director from all things at the final app and his own website is is thriving. It's it's the heartbeat of NASCAR. I don't know if that's the thing or not. But anyway, Toby Christie dot com. I'll take it. I guess that's awesome. Sweet man. I didn't know that. I was so crucial to the world. It does seem that way. All of a sudden, you're the go to site now for almost everybody. Well, that's good to hear glad even even you. Right. Yes. We're gonna use it later on in the program. You are the news segment. I'm just going to scroll down your website. That's perfect. Awesome. I like it. I don't feel like working anymore. All I have to do is visit your site and just copy and paste, that's pretty funny that actually does help you. But didn't think about that? It does it does. I do less work because of you. That's just. What my goal was to make sure that you do even less than what you did before. It's yeah. It is mind boggling, I know. Today on the program. I look forward to this time of year all year long. Kyle Petty's on the program. Of course, is is a charity right across America is entering its twenty fifth annual. I can't believe that. And they are kicking things off this weekend. That's awesome. He's always a great interview this time of year each season, we do it as well. So I've heard the interview I know this is going to be a good one. You've actually listened this time. Yeah, free. Listen, we actually did a little bit of pre pre gaming. We'll call it. Usually when I do an interview you never listen. And when you do an interview, I never listen. And we have no idea if they're good or not, right? We just kinda talk it up, even though we don't really know. We've kinda hope person, you know, at least brought it home for us. We just assume because of our respective greatness that they're good. That's true. That's that's a pretty good point. You just made there. Yeah. I mean, how could it not be good? I is what we're saying here. Yeah. I mean for a show like us. I mean, we're available pretty much anywhere you can possibly download podcasts. We're talking podcast Google play Stitcher radio. Tune radio Spotify heart radio cast box all those places. So if we're in all places, we've got to be pretty dang good. So I would agree with that. I like the way you work that in there though. Yeah. And so while you're at those places hit subscribe, usually it's just delivered to you on a platter each week. It's great that that.

"Yes. The fourth annual. That's good Kyle petty, Jerry, right? Welcome back. Thank you very much. Thanks for having me back once a year of or the fourth annual. Thank you. I'd like to back off. Kidding, man. You're busy, man. I want to get this other things you've been doing lately including his copy with Kyle so cool. But yeah, we love every visit that we get from you. But this one mainly to talk about your vent, which is in a very important here. This is the twenty fifth edition of the couch petty charity ride, and it's a special one before we get to all that though. I gotta tell people real quick. Well, actually, I think they saw this. This was on motormouth after motormouth last week, Dale Earnhardt, jR, was just amazed that you do a dry run of charity rides. I remember this one. Yeah. This up. He was as he was amazed that you went in a motor home with Morgan, your wife, and Overton your son and mapped out this longest route in charity ride history. So I guess it was different this year because you had your entire family to. Yes. Yes. It was my inlaws went with me Morgan's, mom and dad and Overton. So we had a six month old. So yes, obviously, it was a lot different this year. But it was fun, man. And you have to do it. And you know, it was funny because they'll. Said don't you have people that do have man like you are your people your your own? But the thing is here's what you have to do when you run one hundred twenty or thirty miles, and you see a gas station you need to kind of valuate that fuel stop. If it's a Love's travel centers. That's perfect man. Because loves have have they've done a great job being a partner of ours. Over the last two or three years, but there's plenty of parking, plenty of palms. Plenty of restrooms, plenty of everything and you can't just pick that out. And and look at it in a travelogue and say, oh, yeah. This is going to be a good one that that Exxon stations or shell stations going. No, you need to visually see this place. And you need most of them if you're headed down the highway you need most of them on the right side of the road. You don't wanna cross over the? I mean, there's a lot of thought about there's a lot of goofy little pieces that you have to pick up, and you can't just Google it and say, hey, two hundred fifty riders they're gonna fit right there. You have to go. See you have to physically see it and say, okay, we can feel here and park in that parking. Lot or pull around back or do whatever. And that's an important part of it is doing that. And then once you do that it's easier to walk in and say, hey, we want to do we're coming through here may fourth. There's going to be two hundred and fifty of us. It's a lot harder to say. No when you're standing face to face a lot than it is when you pick up the phone to keep hanging up on you know, what some idiot keeps calling saying they won't two hundred fifty motorcycles to come to my fuel station. But you go in you talk to them. And then you call them up as soon as you get back in there. Like, yeah. Yeah. Y'all just do here. We're working on it with corporate. We're doing this. So it's fun though, man..

"Yeah that's gonna be a pretty tall task if anybody wants to try to do that so final question before let you go cal it's been kind of a rough start and it's been kind of a rough continuation of things for jimmy johnson's last season are you hitting the panic button on jimmy johnson just yet no no no no i think here's what i think about about this i think two things i think that every rate organization at some point in time if we go back to two football baseball basketball any great organization when they ride that wave eventually that way way crashes onto the beach somewhere and they have to go through a rebuilding process and and you know they have a couple of down whether you be the cowboys at the patriots or whether you be the celtics the bulls are the lakers or you know the the yankees or the cubs that making a difference you go through that rebuilding process i think we've look jimmy has driven with the team who for a number of years who has had the support of the hendrick organization plus the support of jeff gordon as a teammate they'll junior as teammate casey kane as a teammate so many guys that had tons of experience now jimmy is the loan you know he's got chafe elliott we in byron and all the moment he's got basically three guys are his teammates that when you said in a room and you start debriefing and downloading and trying to get information they're taking jimmy but they're not giving a lot to jimmy because they're young.

"Fifty and that everybody's subjective you do you were you output sounds getting cal now earlier in the year kevin harvick is on a pretty good tear there had three straight winds could've office had four heading swerved it larsen's car and kinda ruined his day there so i mean if he would have gotten foreign road that's that's kinda getting uncharted territory but it's still pales in comparison to your father's ten race win streak that he had back in the in the sixties do you think we'll ever seen by rival that ten race win streak no no you're never gonna see anything like that and here's the reason and strictly mathematics it's got nothing to do and talent has got nothing to do with the race car drivers that we have but it's got everything to do with two things or level of competition that we have and the amount of races that we run well my dad one ten in a row he also won what twenty some that season twenty seven the right season only six races twenty seven out of thirty six and and i don't see anybody winning ten season much left hand in a row when you only run thirty six races at the time my dad was one the races that he ran i think they were in something like seventy some races at one year so you know he run obviously twenty five he went thirty percent of and that's pretty good weakening jeff gordon win you know yep and jimmy win at least twenty seven or twenty eight percent of the racist when they have their eight nine win some of that stuff so you can happen but the ten in a row and some of that stuff.

"He got his forty fourth win which ties him billy at all time where would you put kyle busch currently on your all time nascar driver list look no idea you say something because that whole has got gotten a lot of press and a lot of people talk about listen it is gist uphold pain or four people four five people to pay your however they did it it makes no definitive greatest race car driver of all time and there is no definitive greatest fifty of all time and that that's what i laugh about 'cause i looked at some stuff and i saw martin martin and of those guys them they had compete in them and i said well that's total bs right airman y'all just never part you mean you don't know why you know cow his do right out and i would say this in all my years of being around the grabbing the race card in the mid seventies and and really paying teaching the wall was going on i only think there's been maybe a handful if there's a handful of drivers who have come into the sport who have that much natural talent he just has eight natural talent you know what i mean some people have to work at it some people perfected some people it some people kind of refinement and take his intel is still just roll talent he's been around a long time and he still has that wrong and that edge to so i think from that perspective i would put him for me i would put him in the top four or five guys that i've ever seen some of this for tim richmond dale earnhardt senior guys like that is just brawl talent being able to harness it and make something happen where he ranks on on fiftieth on that.
