"They are avoidable, even for the penalty. City had the ball to afford to have the ball on the left hand side and he tried to play something fancy and he gives away free kick. To encourage pressure when the game is at that particular point was a mistake and then full of poor himself, you know, it has flicks off his head, but the mistake is you've not made better contact because if you do, it's not going to hit your arm. So for them, you know, they did play. They did sort of become the architects of their own downfall, but I suppose for a pep is going to look at it and understand that it's a mistakes that kind of allowed Real Madrid to get back into the game. And in some ways, you believe that when you go on to the field next time, we've been able to deal with some of those and maybe not make them again. And I think if that's to be the case, as Craig was alluded to, when seats move the ball quickly, at times they're almost unplayable. And that made me feel they're really good on the front foot, but when you find the people like Kevin De Bruyne behind you, I obviously customer might be right for the second leg. But from what I'm hearing as well, I think Kyle walker can tell her and so I want to be going to be available for next week anyway. So I think it's just for them, they know their mistakes. They weren't outplayed by our armored by any point, and they'll be disappointed that it's just four three, but then the big positive is Discord four goals. They have a lead and they know that a win or a draw in Madrid gets them into the Champions League Final, which at the end of the day is the main objective to this round. We mentioned the absence of Stuart, did pep get the line off right for his side, even though he didn't have those players available. Yes, I think he did because he played zinchenko on the left hand side, which is his favorite position, and he got forward to a certain degree. So it was a lot sided back four with stone's plan as the right back. Is very much left footed. So I couldn't see aka plan at right back. And as Ned had just said, next week, Diaz will be a weak fitter because he's only just played the one game against Watford. Walker should be back and Ken Stella will be back. So it's a much better looking back for it and I think man.

"I'm gab. He's Jules blue skies over west, London. Although not so much, Chelsea, of course, they were knocked out despite winning against Real Madrid in the bed and a bell. Bayern Munich also out of the Champions League. How about this or Champions League week? Liverpool, making it even slight not quite as scary at the end, but conceding more than they would have liked, but Joe, we have to start with what we saw at the Wanda metropolitano. And I said last week, I said last week's it. Obviously I know which kind of football I prefer. I know which kind of football yields results in the long run. It's not Diego Simeone's. In my opinion, but over those 180 minutes, his approach in that second half and there's the last 2025 minutes when he sent on the cavalry and he was creating chances and Edison was making that save. Which one? What chances? At the end of the game? No, I'm talking about the I don't have the exact answer. I'll give you the topic. I have the I have the Rodrigo de poll one, which he sends wide. I had the stones on where the ball can go just about anywhere. When stone throws himself in the way, I have the Edison one where Edison injured or pretended to injure. I don't know his shoulder. I mean, there were at least four or 5 chats. You know they expected to go. Listen, listen, listen, listen. Okay. You're all told me about extractor gold. You happy with the team. There's 15 minutes over a 190 minutes. And you said this is the right approach. I'm not saying it's the correct approach. It's an approach that worked for Diego Simeone. I take your point about the expected goals, right? And you can turn it around and say, well, city should have converted more chances to which Pep Guardiola said, well, we would have wanted to, but they made it really, really difficult. Yes. And I think that's also true. They set out. They said, we simply going to defend and destroy and then towards the end of games, they tried it in the first leg when they sent the triple substitution, didn't quite work. We're going to try and go for it. And we're going to use the environment and the crowd and whatever else. And I think on that night, in fact, I said this as well. He said, you know, we deserve to go through over the 180 minutes. And I think they completely deserve to go through. But equally, we were quite fortunate to think worked out the way they did because those were scary moments at the end. And if you're letting go Madrid, and you're playing Manchester City, one of the two best teams in the world, I mean, every day is a week you'd want to be in that situation where you've got them in the back foot. You're pushing your desperate and you still have a chance to take the game into extra time. So you see the glass of elimination half full as you can really have empty. Why don't you play more? Why don't you play more football instead of just the last 20 minutes? And I've played so defensively for a 160 minutes. I don't just don't understand. The last 20 minutes showed that if actually wanted with the place that they have, it could be such a different team. And yeah, maybe they would have lost four one the first leg and one of three to the second leg and still be out. Okay, Alicia would have tried. Now you have to try. Oh, we did okay because there was those 15 minutes at the end. That's not enough. That's not and you know why I'm happy. I'm happy that they got done at their own game because city in the last half hour played like atlanti used to. They rolled on the floor. They wasted time. They were clever in the way the defendant, the defendant well. Yes, there's a few chances, half chances. I mean, 0.7 expected goals at home in a game like that. I don't call that super scary moments. And I think this is a game that city maybe would have lost two years ago. And I think he shows how long they've come defensively in terms of collective strength defensively, the way they play defensively with the ball in the first half without the ball in the second half here. They were under pressure. Yeah, I think at times they still panicked a little bit, but finally, Arthur did well when he came on, I thought losing walker was the big one because he was the best defender on the night until the injury. But I still am still mad by the way I played in the whole two games. I have to say. I completely agree with you on the city mental toughness. People have said city or soft in the past, right? People have said that about peps teams, oh, they're too pretty. If you look at city and you say, who's a thug there, who would you want? Who city players would you want on your side in a dark alley when you're getting jumped, right? And frankly, for me, Ruben Diaz definitely. Kyle walker looks like it'd be pretty unique. Yeah, co walker could take care of himself. Yeah, yeah. But honestly, I mean, yeah, roger's tall. Yeah, big deal. I think. Okay, but if anything is also like grandpa, right? Yeah. So they showed that they are really, really tough. And they showed that they could get through that scary moment. Remember the city's legacy. Remember all the story oh city bottling at pep bottling and overthinking blah blah blah. This is all of this would have come back out. And to do it in that cauldron, I think we have to praise Manchester City for that completely. I'm just fascinated by giggles you may own his approach in this return leg, right? So he knew that to describe their one zero down from the first leg. To me, the plan was very, very simple. Keep it tight, wait, maybe tire them out, take something on the counter if it's there, which is why he set up with this television additive 5 four one formation. The only thing that made it marginally more attractive than the first leg was the fact that you had three attacking players. If you want to call Lamar and Greece, acting players. Although it's a philosophical question, if vital Griezmann to who is an attacking player, to play as an auxiliary fullback. Is he still an attacking player? Not anymore. Up there, this poor little guy. He looked even younger than he is. And he's getting bad at about. And then obviously at the other end, you know, the big boys getting physical from the beginning and they said, okay, Citi, you have the ball. We'll defend deep. You said something off the break that it looked as if cities are a topic we're close to 70% possessions in the first half. It looked as if city were saying, all right, we do not want to give up a goal and inflame the venerable. We're going to keep the ball. We're going to be smart with it..

"Had a lot more fluidity and interchanging pauses around this midfield and frey the get completely changed their for like kind of scruffy goal pick for did one terms of saving it but he ends up following a strike on the move in again a one one and it felt like it was only going to go one way if you only team really pushing to try to win the game in the nineteen minutes and if for some reason the subs come really late again for southgate. I'm criticizing come on. I then jade snow. I think no actually at georgia henson came on i. If i'm not mistaken right which is insane. Which kind of shows you everything. That's wrong with the current approach. I think going forward and it's hard to say right because in canova sokoto final. It's hard to criticize Southgate too much but unfortunately this is the nature of elite sports in general. No one really cares or remembers the good that you've done if you don't end up taking trophy home so in general i think i'm especially in this game itself just taking it specifically on this game so i should have responded a lot more bit every tried to change things when things really one. He's way maybe second have come on and look more sooner. Maybe you shouldn't promote henderson as your first subsitution but it should have been something to maybe change this flow the game because if it was if like law plays especially in the second half were hiding at safe on hiding the necessarily effective. The declan rice is a good example mason. Mount playing a number ten on the left wing on the right side wasn't really working too well. Hurricane was somewhat isolated. Even when he go to he was holding up pretty well. He was fairly quiet. Studying of course again was the only one really kind of buzzing around and trying to find a text but still again. He wasn't really effective. I fought the fullbacks are very defensive. Minded pushing for it as much. I think after the first maybe a there was a couple of those maybe a crossing the second hop. I don't remember show up too often. The current kyle walker walker accurate chipper even even gained forward too often the for very defensive minded overrule. Maybe it's because it's changed formation tactics and ended up kind of being more expensive. But i fell as if this should have been a change in personnel tactic for something. It'll be made that didn't happen. And by then ba game already has kind of detrimental shifted and it in team just do of international football you can. How would you kind of shy away to cup. You can't i mean you have to kind of Present some threat to the team. Your face. I think the only time we've seen it so far has been greece into euros right where they've kind of been able to just shop shop. Just play a the net. Really kind of defense. My negative defensive minded way of football and that's may be paid dividends for them but in general. You can't really do. You have come to go in the front for a little bit. So that was kind of disappointed to see in of course. Penalties people are dense. Saying is a lottery out a believe that i think is art lottery. I think you've practiced penalties you. Let your best penny take take him. There's a certain techniques that work the best. But i feel as if when gene mris penny it kind of felt like to me..

"All right. Thank you for that santa. Welcome back to the show til with the coast to coast and around the world on the american forces radio network what you got recalled. Think that's correct english. I'll tell you what you got. As i said this first hour is wide open Pretty horrible sports stay for me yesterday. and Not because the as got their winning streak snapped at thirteen. Although this guy garra he'll garros pitch for a few teams in the bigs but the as were down by three and the bottom of the eighth and they wanna go to the ninth of the chance. You know down by three runs. He got shot the guy walks for dudes and then they put in this guy. Calera than happy about the clerk has been nothing but horrible. Cash all the runs in and they lose eight to one It's going to happen. So the streak is over in baltimore mansa tampa where they started a four game series against the race tonight but so the thirteen game didn't get the fourteen games but now it was. Because my my team tottenham lost cup final on Manchester city is the best team in england. They might win the champions league and they were in the league cup. Finals are one chance of silverware. We have not won a trophy and thirteen years and You know off the post a couple times. I mean the the first twenty minutes city was basically in our box and it looked pretty bad. But still you get to the Eightieth minute and there still no score a figure one little mistake here or there and we can get it done but now this big dummy laporte heads in a corner and it's funny. I said out loud before the corner. i said. no one's looking at the port. He heads a dan. And i said what did i say. And moussa. sissoko. For tottenham the french international sos laporte by the way but he now is really the goat and our last two cup finals and the champions league final. He raised his arm to point something out and the ball hit his arm against liverpool. That cup final for me. The champions league final that lasted eighteen seconds before we started losing one. Nothing and so now he basically stands there and watches. I had a goal so Normally would say hey you win some you lose some. But this could have huge ramifications. It's been really bad. Week for tottenham with the Superleague idea and then with excuse me the whole thing with when you lose a cup file now tottenham are not in europe next year and this is the first time in many years. We won't be in europe next year and It makes you worried that You know guy. Like harry came might move to a different team you know. He's at the same age. Kyle walker was. When he left tottenham and since then kyle walker has a whole boatload of trophies. In his closet to keep miners there could be some penalties against at tottenham. The head of uefa. Sarah fanny said basically he groups the dirty dozen into three groups. He said the six english clubs. Who said he. He says he can't act like nothing happened. Which was what. I was kinda hoping for. So you can't act like nothing happened and thereby they're going to be punished somehow. He said the first six. He admired them because they were mature. Enough and strong enough and man enough to admit that they made a mistake And then the other three which for basically the You know the arses of the world but then the real madrid's and you've as the teams that he said they still think that there is a super league somehow. He says he's gonna come down on them really hard so not a good day in sports but this is the thing when you watch sports it might go your way. Am i not and so then. In baseball i saw A headline looking on the internet and it was from the arizona diamondbacks and it says Mad bum no. No were gonna count it. And i thought that was interesting. We're gonna count. And i thought we're going to count. It meant that there was some egregious scoring error. Meaning that somebody probably had a can of or a ball go through. His legs are bad. Throw and it was ruled an error not a hit thereby keeping the no alive. No it was because i realized later that they were in a double header against the bridge. And you only get to play seven innings. Well this is what the elias sports bureau says about that major league. Baseball's official statistician that neither team individual pitcher will be credited with a no no and a scheduled seven inning game of a doubleheader. And lestat game goes to nine innings in extra innings. Wow that's pretty good. They have that. But here's the thing mad bomb was asked about it and he said you know very earner i can't control how many innings i pitch remember. He's been nothing but atrocious. Since he's made the move to phoenix so this was the guy that they are paying for but remember. He watched in san francisco at tim. Linda threw a no hitter and another hitter. And let's cam gets a cy young and another science. And then he sees jonathan sanchez. Throw no header. And then he sees what has been thrown and then he sees mccain pitch a perfect game now a lot of those guys would trade what he did in game. Seven of the world series in two thousand fifteen for all that but still Matt madison bumgarner Never had a no now and look. It's not easy. I mean we just the padres us. How their first one in history with Joe moscow but the question is what do you think because on the one hand. I don't like taking things away from players. Who as he say can't control the stuff but then again i also don't want it to be a no hitter because in the history of baseball there are too many no hitters through seven to count literally too many no hitter through seven to count. So you'd have to go back and give all those guys now headers. Wouldn't you know somebody made the comparison of if you give the dodgers a full world series trophy after sixty game regular season in. How how can you not you know. That's not an asterisk. Which is true. But i do think that's apples and oranges. I don't think anything that's truncated the same as anything else. That has been shortened as well. I think what this is. The last birch bureau called it a notable achievement. like team. no headers i did. Does anybody impressed by a team. No hitter outside of the twitter feed of the eighteen year olds or nineteen year olds that run a teams twitter feed a combined. No hitter to me is a snooze. They'll have somebody go five and two thirds and.

It's the same as rice they. What's he got on Southgate? Don't understand why he's picked every single game really don't. Do you think we've seen the last of Kyle Walker. Unless we go full right back team then he. Backs like that idea but. Yeah, I mean there's there's one ASAKA. trippy is normally right back and then this trend is I'd say for me, it's Um Trent is number one and then one percent of trippy. Just go with Philips and greets yesterday see what happens give them a chance. Yes is basically a friendly. About he's got a coyness. "And find people would talk about green book locations, restaurants, beauty parlors, nightclubs. All those types of things, But when we met local people, and we started to talk to them about the green book, it opened up a world of memories. So most of them would tell us a personal story from the time that the Green Book was published, or the time that they used the Green Book. For example, when we got to Birmingham, Alabama has the Kyle Walker Hezekiah Jackson told us the story ofthe Hiss family going to Detroit and his aunt Beatty was ill and they had to go and pick up her paycheck. Actually, she had died. And as it as they drove into the white suburb of Detroit, the police suddenly appeared and they talked to his father in such a demeaning way, calling his father boy that it was traumatic for his brother. And he tells the story about he asked his mother. What is there something that we don't know? We're not allowed to go into this into this pretty neighbourhood. Other people. Doctor, Eva Bay, Um at Dillard University, tells the story that her sister would not drive through Mississippi under any circumstances. A sister who lived farther up north But just go all out of her way because of the number of lynchings in those states. The number of road attacked in those states and she did not want to be subject to it. Well, let's hear from one of the people that you spoke to. Alvin here is Mervyn from Louisville, Kentucky. He's talking about the fear of traveling while black in the gym grow south. Sometimes. The idea that it could happen and the knowledge that it has happened to others made you feel awful. You're so tired when you got to the end of your trip if you're driving From watching to see if the car that had pulled behind you was a share scar. You're driving on the highway, not bother the soul and somebody passes by and ways that fist relate. You know, that's that's not good at all. So when you got a way you were going, you were tired and you needed risk. Well, what emotional toll Alvin did these voyages take on African Americans. A lot of people were left feeling always anxious. Some people really profoundly distrusted white people. And they distrust that even maps. We interviewed one family on and she said that her grandfather didn't even trust the map that he trusts the word of mouth network that would get him from Nashville to Louisville or from Nashville to Mississippi. Because at least he knew he was talking to other black people who knew the truth. He just didn't trust it. Because he knew that along the way there was sundown towns and one of the biggest revelations that came For me out of the Sasha is that there were Mohr sundown towns in the north than there were and explain what a son downtown is for those who might not be familiar. A son downtown is of suburb or a specific town in which black people were Told they should not be in that town after sundown. And if you were, you could be harassed. You could be jailed, or even worse. You could get badly beaten up. But if you When we started this journey people would account would tell us about stories, especially around Detroit, the number of sub suburbs around Detroit that were actual sundown suburbs that you could not be in And from these conversations that you had, you know, you've already alluded to some of this already. But you know what did the green book really mean to these folks? It Wass a lifesaver. It meant that when they were on the road or when they got to a certain location, they knew that they would find welcoming services. They knew that they would find a safe place to rest. They knew that they could take Just exhale and feel relax as Mervyn talked about because you need it that after those long drives, I was reading a book recently and somebody talked about the number of people who had to drive long distances and then would have accidents due to exhaustion. This helped stop that from happening or mitigated of it. Yeah. The experience of of traveling for African Americans wasn't all bad. Here's Mervyn again. On the other hand, though, you meant people who are willing To give you everything they had to keep you safe. To feed you. Put you in the guest bedroom. And you weren't a relative. No, it was Just the way things were done because they knew That if we didn't Make the changes. We would never Never It's alive. You talked about the trust or distrust for maps back, then talk a little bit more about the sense of community that was created around the green book. The green but connected all sorts of people who travelled on the road who wanted to see relatives. So with the green Book if you were a member of for example of the Home Economics Teachers Association or the elementary School Teachers Association are dentists and you have to go to conferences and meetings. You would meet other people who had used the green book or the word of mouth network and they would help you out. Some of the most strong networks we found were among fraternities, Alphas. Among the Masons among church people who went to various conventions in various areas and that word of mouth network combined with the information, the Green Book. Made people feel as if they could go on the road. Now, remember that this place the green Book talked about the specific place So you were still In danger as you were making the trip. But the green Book also sometimes gave you suggestions about how you can mitigate the danger while on the road, and a lot of it was being aware keeping your eyes open for subtle changes. And from the sounds of it, it was helpful for black owned businesses and the black economy. Absolutely we one of my favorite sequences is visiting Jackson, Mississippi, and everyone talks about Ferris Street. There's this guy who was a shoe size shot in person who owns a shoe repair shop there, and he talked about what Ferry Street was like in the hate on Fridays and Saturdays. You could not walk down the street. There was so many people the businesses were full, and people just had a good time. Has a Kaya Jackson talks about when they drove from Burma from Birmingham to New York. How there's his family thought it was a guy to patronize black businesses along the way. They did not know until much later that it was because of fear and segregation. And in all of these towns where this Louisville, Kentucky Walnut Street Whether it's Paradise Valley in Detroit or Jefferson Street in national. This was the center of Black Life. This was the center of strong black economy. In the show we do about Detroit, German Jordan tells about how the African American dollars turned over 10 times within the black communities. We heard from Jade on Twitter. She writes this traveling while black conversation has me kind of thinking that we could use an app like that for the modern day. What do you think about that? Alvin? We talked about that, with a lady named Jan Miles who wrote the Negro Motorist Green Book. I think it's called the Negro Motorist Screen book, and it is a detail of all of the atrocities that have happened to black people on the road. And she talked about the fact that their websites now that people can exchange this information and at the end of this road trip. You gradually began to see how even today That this type of information is highly useful. I still remember a trip that I took about in 16 4015. And I was staying at a hotel in Jackson, Mississippi, and I was traveling with a white producer and we went down and asked for record restaurant recommendation, and the person at the desk was white recommended this restaurant in a part of town. We then set the white producer down record for recommendation. He got a totally different recommendations. Wow. And this. I have never forgotten that because I kept thinking, why does she make this assumption that we would not want to go to the restaurant that she recommended to him? And I should note so the Full name of the book that we're talking about. From the back in the thirties on dawn was called the Negro Motorist, Green Book and the Modern Day one that she referenced oven is the post Racial Negro Motorist Green Book. Yes, that's what's called him to talk with Jan. Miles was so Revealing. I asked her specifically. What is it like emotionally? For you, too..

"You know. That's that's where we're at Stevie with this thing I'm waiting for. There was an article that I put up on facebook. And and you know I'm getting to that place myself to where I got this sort of natural feeling of okay. I've got to get out of the house. Now I gotta I gotta go for a walk with my kid. I don't know if you're feeling that same frustration. You know that and this article was all about. It's like you're going to start to feel this right now that you think it's been too long that you're GonNa Cheat on what the rules are. And what the what? The requirements are in. It's still stay away. Do not get closer to people. Do not get closer to the people and and I totally understand when he said that. It's like Whoa. Whoa WHOA WHOA. Don't don't fall into that right now. Going okay faulk. Let's have a couple people over. It's been a few weeks. Jeez things must be fine. And that's not the case. Yeah that's not the case at all. They're putting their cases are growing. There's more deaths. It hasn't peaked and I know you would. You brought up a couple of other stories that are just beyond beyond rational thinking to me that president trump for example is coming forward saying football. Football should start up on the regular day. Let's fuck I'm trying to think of what the equivalent of how asinine and ignorant that is when you're talking about a virus Steve. It's like you know we. We need twelve feet of snow. Okay we need. We need two feet of snow. Let's say Steve and we need it by. This is October and we need to have it by by Christmas. Okay and if we don't we're going to have to cancel a bunch of things so there's no snow Steve in the middle of November. And chances are it. Looks like we're not going to get enough snow and you still have a guy comes for instance. We're going to get that snow all right by the People. Look at a guy like you're an idiot you know. Uv How do you know you don't fucking know? So what what is what is the president. Doing what are other people doing weighing in saying you know it's time to put these other things back in operation. What do you think what's your feeling on all that? When you see people weigh in on it I would guess that. The president is trying to show that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm guessing that that's Kinda thought behind it or it may be just more standard moronic behavior from president trump. I don't know but he this. All came from trump having a news conference over the phone with the commissioners of the major sports and he chucked it out there. That Yeah I want the NFL season to start on time and in front of fans and then immediately the governor of California Gavin Newsom came back with that happening at least not in this state. You got the rams the chargers and the forty niners there and newsom went on to say this is why we've all seen the headlines over the last couple of days in Asia where they were starting to open up certain businesses and now they're starting to roll back those openings because they're starting to see some spread there's a boomerang effect so when to be very cautious here. One is to be careful not to over promise at that stage so I see that side of the story for sure. Yeah it my answer. My answer to that is no no. We're not we're not talking about any date of doing anything over talking was trying to try to minimize the damage of this thing. That's all I'm worried about right now. If I'm the government the president or the CEO of any company or or a parent or anybody else you know my my thing is I is what are we. What are we going to keep doing? All of it still is stay home. Do not do not go out. Do not go. I mean this is just a clumsy way. That trump panels things really. I mean he could have massage the message a little more like I say on the basis of trying to give people hope that there's light at the end of the tunnel. There's something to look forward to in the midst of all of this. You know you could have said something along the lines of. I'm really optimistic that the NFL season will begin on time and in front of fans. But obviously we don't know how this thing's going to go so that's certainly subject to change. That could have been fine. Everybody would have been okay with that but to come across in his clumsy knuckle dragging SORTA way you know. I want the NFL season to begin on time and in front of fans almost sounding like he's ordering it to open and I don't think that's the intent right and and to me. It appears insensitive. No Gajah because if you're looking at that okay there are. There are fifty fifty other people standing behind trump. When he hears that saying I want to know when I can get some money. 'cause I'm broke on my business. My restaurant right my paintshop my my auto body place and then there's teachers and everybody else who's GonNa Fuck? That is the last thing. I'm thinking about his sporting event but anyway that's him that's him and the Governor Governor was absolutely brilliant. And saying you're out of your mind we're not. We're not doing it. I don't know if he said that exactly. But it's tough. It's tough for business though in the you just. I was talking to a friend of mine. He's he owns a big company and he said we just laid off over one hundred people last night and we're not going to have enough money in the bank to play. Pay Our suppliers within two weeks. Let's that's and that and that was a thriving business that we're talking about here and That's a story. A story line. That I'm sure is mean Plato Plato. Hundreds of times across the country right now and it's That's if it's good that most people in Canada have taken this thing to heart and they're staying the F. at home however. How long can we continue to do this with that? Absolutely burying ourselves financially. Well you know we're we're doing a lot of people at a lot of people are doing. We're you know we're going to change the content of the podcast right. We we looked at that thing. You know and it got too many many things into account You know you don't want to be insensitive. Do you provide relief? Do you WANNA be funny. Do you want to be pregnant? Do you WANNA be contrite. Do you know how do you do it right? And we're just sort of playing it out and in my mind and yours when we talked about it. It's like no. Let's keep doing you know. Let's keep doing the podcast. It does provide some relief even locals in Ottawa. Dave calill puts a concert on Wednesday and Saturday night for an hour and a half. I see my sister gone online. Playing some tunes tons of musicians are going online so and just to play just to play some music not a big diatribe for any of them just to provide this relief and and that's all you can. Do you know unfortunately stay home and try and provide positive things for people but it's tough question. Tough Don in far haven is Tweeted at US and I'm so grateful. You guys are still cutting podcasts. Can't tell you how much I need to hear something normal right now That's nice to hear some stuff like that. That people are still enjoying the podcast. And it's giving people a bit of respect from thinking about stuff that's what I think. We pride ourselves on making people not have to think on this show. Jimmy can you do this? Shallow thought on factual story CHIRP. How `Bout Corona Beer stopping the production? Yeah they did but probably not for the idea. You think so. It's They've they've corona virus and corona. Unfortunately some of the folks who. Maybe don't pay too much attention to the headlines or the book learning. They've been putting those two things together. I don't understand that seriously. I'm afraid so anyway. Court Corona Beer has halted their production during this pandemic entirely because in Mexico. The beer production is considered a non essential business so they made that announcement over the weekend and so they're owned by Anheuser Busch and they're already in the process of decreasing production and soon to stop and again it has nothing to do with the corona virus but in the same story that I'm reading MSN. There there's no it's not I wish A lot of consumers in the US. Some consumers mistakenly associated corona beer with the virus with an increase of Google searches for corona beer virus and the beer virus and according to one survey thirty eight percent of American beer drinkers said and this is in late. February that they will no longer by corona under any circumstances and among regular corona drinkers. Only four percents The same anyway. Thirty eight percent. That's a very large large percentage. Jesus and you're calling trump an idiot. Listen Steve I remember. I remember one of my favorite beers was liquid. Gonorrhea I gave that up. I just remember that. Remember the date. I remember the day. They stopped production of that. You know I said okay. I respect that. I won't ask him kind of flavor that head liquid. Gonorrhea light treason. Tried that Steve Zero Zero Calorie liquid gonorrhea light. No No. I'm not buying it. I refuse no way my drink in that. There was another one uncovered a man city soccer star. He's in a bit of hot water right now. His name's Kyle Walker and he hosted a sex party with two hookers and that was just hours before he went on national. Tv starring in a public service announcement urging fans to stay at home. And keep their social distancing up while in their corona virus lockdown. I've found that a fascinating thing like yeah and he's apologized but just so that I'm clear they're not upset that you know. He's a John and he hired a couple hookers. Which last I checked is illegal in the UK. They're upset about the social distancing. Okay enough yeah. Well that kind of makes a mistake. He's GonNa go. He's going big. Got A couple of hookers purchased one Steve. Not One right. Yeah it's GonNa. What what. What Point Steve. Although I got I got to tell you something Steve McCain like at some point how do you go past that that boundary? When you're thinking yourself go. I probably shouldn't be doing this from from from the way I'm acting. Yes but oh well it's just don't shoot the Messenger Steve. Okay don't shoot the Messenger. Although it's the pot calling the kettle a slot. It's it's a little. Whatever the expression is it's not that but I'll tell you though I did the same thing Steve in in my life hired hookers which was no no I never hired hookers. I was GONNA get life insurance okay. This is more than ten years ago and I was. I was an of drug user back then right and the the I was sitting there going okay. I'll just get life insurance and then I was looking at the forms right and it's like okay are you. Are you on drugs here? Do you smoke you. Don't deal and and I said no tick tick tick tick no. I don't I'm fine. You know what I send it in. That's fine a nurse will be by to take blood and test for drugs and I went. Well I won't fuck in pass that one for sure. Hbo's there's not a chance okay. So that would normally steve in a normal mind. That would end that go. You know you'd make a phone call. You know what pass can't do it even. If you're going to cheat on the thing you would find out how long it's in your blood before you take the testy okay and that that wouldn't that be the smart thing to do. I mean obviously the one is quitting. Stop Drugs you know and or or wait the seven or two weeks before you have to. Piss test through. Take blood but no no. No I didn't do that. You know I was doing it every day all day and then I see yeah come on over. It'll be it'll be fine. Okay take tests and then a week later I act in. I ACT INSURE HORROR. Steve when I get a letter back from them saying tested positive for cocaine denied. How did that happen? Oh my God yeah. I don't even know why you're bothering with life insurance because you screwed either way. If you tell the truth. They're not. They're not insuring you. If you lie on your deathbed chances are they're gonNA take a blood test again at the end to find out if you're doing anything and Yeah if drugs in your system. He lied on his application form. No insurance here's the other ones Steve. Okay if I might for a second on the on the life. Insurance with the couple's loading up on life insurance for each other. Okay IF WE'RE NEW. We're newlywed you and me you and I are married okay. And we're a year or two win and I get you I knock you up. Okay I knock you up near pregnant. What do I have to be pregnant? Why can't you be pregnant in this fictional? Do Oh we got going here. Because you're the girl okay like most things okay. You're the girl I'm the girl like most things. What what does that even mean? Most things we talked your girlie your little girl. You know you're a little sense. I'm happy to be a girl I'm going to knock you up and then we're GONNA get so now we've got a kid or two and then we sit down and and like a lot of life insurance as you're you and I are now. Ripe with young couple with children are ripe for the for the picket to buy life insurance. You get in there and the guys like you've got kids now and you need to. You need a bunch of Life Insurance Jimmy. If you dis to look after your wife. Steve and I'm going no. I don't because Steve's going to remarry right you'd find another gym.

"There's been a lot of talk this pressing style playing out from the back style possession based style. Do they have the guys to do it? Jeff asked bear halter about that. You know, I think we need to be calm. I think we need to look at the game. Look what we need to improve. And, and then sit out to do it. You know. It's really tough. You know, after result like this to come in and start making excuses. I don't I don't really want to do that. But what I'd say is we're still getting guys where they need to be, and we're not there yet, and that's pretty clear. So we're gonna keep working on. Can I can I addressed a straight off the bat? Okay. So two things have been bugging me, first of all, we watched England versus the Netherlands, and we saw Kyle Walker pick up the ball in the fullback position an attempt to play the bowl intimate field on the edge of his box. Rocks back the mid figure who come short, right? He's played hospital pass because he can see the defender behind him. He's got the whole field to see and he plays a ball into. Backley. Mbacke dispossessed by the onrushing Dutch. Midfield. The ball ends up in the back of the net. That's not a failure of playing from the back that's a failure of decision making okay playing out from the back has become this trademark this Zalm ba- phrase repeated online and on Twitter over and over. But US soccer fans to stick to be bare hall to with. I'm not saying that this team either has the person or is capable to do that every time. But when Steph and made the mistake he made he had men left on right? He should have opened his body and ping dot to the left hand side, Tim ream who it's gone square ream was not under the same press as it was at the end. It was a terrible owed. Anyway. That was a failure of technique and decision making not a failure of system on. It's also it's not Moses coming down with the ten commandments. You must play out from the back playing from the back is a response. It's a way of playing but it's a responsibility on the professional players on the field to know when it's on. A no one. It's not on Jimmy Carr said the exact same thing after being the Netherlands. So when bear halter talks about playing from the back on, you guys aren't on the same page. I agree with them. I do agree with. But I actually think we're missing something, we're missing was a two pronged, template that he came out with when he took this job? It was a Lexus last that asked him. I think we've got the audio hair he was he told us the way wanted to play just have a listen to this. And then a talk about it off. This is from his introductory, press is very first thing, Alexi Lalas, presses them on how we're gonna play. Yeah. So the idea is that were an attacking based team, then wants to create goalscoring opportunities by this organizing the opponent. You know, it will do that in a number of different ways. What I'd say is, you know, consistently over my time in Columbus. We've done it through build up right where we start the ball. The goal in the back. The teams try to press us we play through them to cry. Goal opportunities where making the field. Big another way to do that is to, to us pressure. Whether we start in amid block or moving to high pressure to force turnovers when the ball and immediately, Craig to the idea is, it's a fluid style that is the players are intent on breaking lines playing through the opponent and creating goal scoring opportunities. Sounds pretty good. Right. The second part was the pack that, that I was licking, my lips. That was the pressure. I don't think we are at this point in the development of US soccer players in a position where we can play from the back regularly play between the lines doodles,.

"Your child to bed at night. He just. Right in the top of the regime, sterling sweaty little head just kisses him right on top. And I'm like, really, that's what that's what you're the emotion of the moment. I guess the French are very kissy kissy, but it just seemed like out out of place. I don't have another nomination. There was lots of passion today. But I'm sorry. But that site. I want to add on that. I really really enjoyed watching reheating sterling we'll away and run the way he runs he kind of has the RN Robin dodgy flappers going. No, excuse me. Excuse me. It's the Wilma run from from Scooby doo run like Wilma Chila session, look Wilma running and Scooby doo. That's where sterling to a t go on. I back. Plus the kids is just feels deal for me. Yeah. Yeah. It was just such a sweet little kiss. It was just like you could see LaPorte processing the situation. He was just like, you know, what I need to kiss on the head right now. I guess we're lucky it was only on the head. All right. Let's I'm going to reverse order here of how I've written these down today. It's worst hair of the day read, and it's a trio of players really competing in the same category, which is worst bleached hair. The nominees are read Sergio guero Kyle Walker and surprisingly Roberto for me, no with his four strands of bleached hair right at the front. So I'm limit aware of that. Because he had that for that or silver for awhile. Okay. All right. I respect it for me. No. Is he so corny and he's the winner or loser of this award? Whatever you want to whatever you wanna call if you win you just lose. Yeah. Absolutely. I'm actually going with Kyle Walker in part because what you're saying which it feels like he's like all a grow bushes hair. Love that I'm going to do that too. And just looks terrible. And he just it just looks so bad. And at least for me now, I don't know if I had those like super white big teeth. I'd probably do little things like that to distract them from, you know, distract people from them as well. I was especially offended by Kaya, walkers hair. So I'm going to give the worst hair of the day to to our friend Kyle Walker now, this one is a fun one read because these were just amazing moments of the day that don't really fit into any one category. These are your your holy crap. Did that just? Happen moments. Like just your other things of beauty that aren't goals. I've got three nominees you can feel free to add anything that really struck your fancy one Hector Herrera controlling the ball on that like long cross as he's like peeled away. And he just somehow brings this ball down onto his foot now he proceeded to not score. But the control his ability to control that ball and bring it down absolutely gorgeous..

"The Nixon Rangers off seasons. No Real Madrid. Couldn't possibly play anywhere else. It just wouldn't work. I wonder. Yeah. The other thing by the way, if we were designing stadium bathrooms. That's huge can't have people like 'cause everyone pretty much has to go to the bathroom at the same time. It's not like the NFL. There's a time out. I can run real quick. Everybody's going to have time. That's it. There's no stoppages you need to have gotta have a lot. So everyone can bang get and get out that would be important for me. Lots about them into some stadiums. Like relatively new ones like MetLife. And I'm like why is there a cue? Yeah. I mean, look some of its own avoidable. There shouldn't be acute. We haven't talked about the game. It was a good win for Spurs. They desperately need it their first win since mid February while and it puts them back temporarily into third arsenal. Do have a game at hand. Therefore, Spurs are one point ahead. The two are tied on goal difference. But you know, it's. This is important Tottenham still have to go to Manchester City, but aside from that, they got a lot of home games in this new place against opponents that you would consider to be winnable opponents. I don't know always what that means late in the season. We just saw United lose to wolves. I saw Tottenham lose to Southampton couple of weeks ago. So who knows it's hard to look at the schedule. But it's this was important for them to get that win today. JJ we continue Chelsea and Brighton Callum Hudson. Doi gets the start nice assist on the first goal to Libya. Ru played a good game had that assist and several key passes. Yeah, wasn't is finished from Jerusalem. I thought Chelsea actually look pretty good. They did look good. It was comprehensive move quite easy. In has are started imagine that and scored a. You see the goal that his skull. The goal scored was just so him fake the shot took a man out of the play. And then just kinda like finesse into the corner. Loftus cheek with similar one was office. Just shakes finish was beautiful. Not. I was it was an easy one for Chelsea. As was Manchester City's win over Cardiff scored early scored at the end of the half nothing to say. I mean, I had worn speaking before the game. And I'm like, he gotta get them. All. And he just seemed defeated is like the weekend. Still he's still got that hang over this game for Manchester City. It was such one way traffic how it was only two near like, you're right possession was eighty twenty shots twenty seven four twenty seven is just wild. I mean United only eleven on target. But yeah. And the thing for Manchester City like we look at this performance granted, it's against Cardiff. So I'm not going to get carried away. But like a grow didn't start. There was no Bernardo Silva or or Gundi one in the starting eleven became keep repeating myself. This is a team built to do this. Got talent for talent avid Silva was a sub like this is it's crazy. Kyle Walker did not start Benjamin Mendy is still out. If there's phones first senior league start was is this first one like you could I would almost like to see the team that we could create of men city players that did not start this game. And like I wonder where that teen team might also finished top four. It's crazy. How ridiculous they are. It is tough fight for you guys really is. Well, look at this Duncan Alexander here. We are the first time in English top-flight history that two teams have had seventy nine plus points after thirty two games that's based on the three points for a win model generally against runners up generally against runners up medals, but sometimes get the mortared meaning whoever finishes second it's going to be a wild points total, and it will have been enough to win most primarily I mean Liverpool..

"Girard Liverpool Lampert, Chelsea even Fleischer at excuse me than you had whether it's mortgage Snyder or any of those guys Southampton's, I just think that there were grant holes at Norwich when my debts there, these these noble or Nolan that was him that. No guys debts. Were part of the club infrastructure and to study some of the younger head the younger hands growing up, you know, into the game that anymore Mark noble still there, but like other than that, you know reasons. Do I? I agree like for me losing Romy loss. Vandivert that was like losing Vandivert and Friedel moving off the pitch in do getting coaching bed. I think that was a big detriment. Dan divide was my kind of player. You know? I mean, I know Harry Redknapp was like, I don't be playing the whole it only gets, you know, whoever minutes out of him. But EV lives, it's hard on this leaves. You can see. I mean, they interviewed him while he was at hamburger, and they go. What's your favorite goal? You scored in the primarily he goes, easy all of them against us. Have you not love that fucking guy? He's a bomb. He's gonna smoke wife. Yeah. He's he's I love filthy. That's right now does but you know, what? I mean. Harry people forget av rate him. So Harry was Harry was at Millwall. It was Norwich. And now, you know everybody, and I will talk to women interview. Like, I was saying, you know, people are talking about hurricanes gonna be coming on soon. I haven't seen it. And I remember we were playing Tom Carroll, and we're awaiting print yards sort of come alive hoping outta by or would have a good game. And not a crap game. We're counting on Lenin. Like, it was the most odd collection players at that point. And I still think losing like hoping obviously seen losing players like GERD sitting with a big mistake. I mean girds went from being a damn bit player for us to being a franchise player for swan. He's he's he had a dip it Everton. But he's back the guilty gang. Always reminds me. He's having a great season. Again. He's a damn good player. No doubt. Well, so this this year, we'll do a little check on your Spurs bias here. So this year in the PL who's gonna win. I wanna say it's because we've only he'll get November. Yeah. Exactly, exactly. What are used to say chart of we can snap defeat from the jaws of victory. World class at finding new and more painful ways of losing. Man that that the north London Darby first of the two we played the one that wasn't in the Caravelle Cup. That was painful, it was painful to AC Latina's that suddenly play like lock is that also, and you know, Bobby Yang. But to know the Piers Morgan was happy really hard really was their best game of the season for Shelley. It was it was. I mean, they and and to have equalize then give it up the way it was just and and and I'm sorry. But like. And I love but not all Vero you start one forty. Really? Yeah. Always rough those rough that was that was problematic, but this year, I I want to say Liverpool because. You know city has had. You know? Moment version of all these sports. The extrordinary season. We're like guero wins. It was winded for them with ninety seconds left in the season, you know, and on goal differential, and then they had you know, sort of run away season. They had you know, if to broin and our late gray Kyle Walker still, you know, obviously, Wairoa Gabriel's Jesus the and then even looking like after back line looking at at how how strong their defenses then looking at the emergence of young players like Phil Foton gets an in Raheem sterling who I never liked to Liverpool and who I'm still not doing Santa for multiple reasons. Like like if for no other reason that he made me like even hazard for making fun of him..
