"I don't know. I just think that we're jumping the shark a little bit on those two guys. I think you're trying to say this and you're dancing around it. Even if my grown is a good player, a lot of these guys, they tear their ACL, they're not fully back to form until their second year back, right? That first year back is kind of a feeling out process. So even if from a grown is a guy, even if he is a part of it, even if you think, hey, they picked him and they got a steal, and I loved him as a prospect and he's a player. I still think you need to temper your expectations for 2022. If we want to get super high on camera grown for 2023, like if he comes out and he looks decent, the comp by would give you actually I'm going to cross sports here momentarily or just for a second here. Garrett whitlock with the Red Sox, right? In baseball's back, yeah. Garrett whitlock underwent Tommy John. The Red Sox drafted him in the role 5 because the Yankees didn't want to deal with his rehab. Last year he pitched in the bullpen. Nobody knew what to expect. He was very hyped prospect, but really nobody knew what to expect. He was really good in the bullpen and now it's, okay, well, now we're all in. Now I'm all in on him in the starting rotation because he looked really good. He didn't start last year because again, it's like a two year recovery process. His arm wasn't fully back. They wanted to limit his innings. That's how I am with Cameron McGraw. Let me see what he can do in a limited role this year. If he shows enough, I'm all for getting super hyped about Cameron McGraw in 2023. We need to see him on the field in 2022 first just to get a base reading of where he's at. Yeah, I mean, look, the odds that that group, right? Ronnie Perkins, Josh blood so came a grown, some of these guys that have red shirted in recent years. The odds that those guys all are bad or whatever you want. Or whatever you want to call, is not incredibly high. Like it feels like they probably will get a player out of one of those guys, right? At least. So I can understand the optimism. I just, I think that there is this notion that all they should do is play the kids and see what comes of it. And camera grown practice at the end of last year is going to obviously practice in camp and he's healthy and he's ready to go and practicing over the spring and over the summer. And we'll see. But there's a reason behind the scenes and it goes beyond just Kyle van noy and having guys that were here that were veterans..

"Free agency extravaganza Alex as the Patriots and the rest of the NFL set to begin the free agency window on Monday unofficially Wednesday officially is the start of the league year, but a lot going on already around the NFL. We've already seen quite a few quarterback trades and rumors and things of that nature and today we got some patriots adjacent news as well. The news of the day, at least in the NFL. And I'm not talking about baseball returning, but that's a good thing as well for sports in general, but it's Trey flowers getting released by the Detroit Lions, so we'll talk about that. We'll also touch on the Patriots pursuit of wide receivers, which should add is a wide range of wide receivers, right? We're talking about guys at the top of the market. We are also talking about guys that are more role players at the lower ends of the market as well. We're going to at the end of the show once we hit on some of these topics, we are going to open it up to you guys in the chat to do kind of a rapid fire end of the show here. You guys throw names at us. We tell you if we like it or not for the Patriots. So that's the agenda. Let's start with Trey flowers or at least today by the Detroit Lions at 5 year $90 million contract that Matt Patricia in the Lion signed it Trey flowers to a couple of years ago doesn't end up working out so well for Detroit. He's been injured the last couple of years, only played 600 snaps over the last two seasons, but for obvious reasons, go right on down the line from Kyle van noy to Trent Brown to wherever you want to go next with it. There are a lot of names that the Patriots have brought him back for second stints and Trey flowers feels like somebody that would fit right.

"So you put together the fact that they can save on the cap that they have some guys in house that they've drafted and use resources on recently in the pipeline and a stacked edge linebacker class to begin with in the 2022 draft and you get this Kyle van noy move and why Kyle van noy won't be on this team next year. Yeah. This is typical short sighted instant reaction. Oh, they need linebackers. They cut Calvin with the same people have been whining for the last two years to chase winovich can't get on the field that Josh uche can't get on the field. It's one way or the other. Either keep in or you keep the veterans to keep bearing the kids, or we were saying they need to find a way for these guys to get on the field, right? Uche, channings, Perkins. I think winovich is more of a defensive end at this point than, you know, I don't think he's playing van noy's role at this now. Those other three, I think, could. So now those guys, now there's space for those guys to play. Will any of them step up and win the job? That's, you know, we'll see an OTAs. We'll see throughout camp in the preseason. Do they need to draft on the edge? I don't know that they need to. I think between those three, you'll be able to get serviceable play on the outside. But they've done it the last three years for the last 5. They've taken an edge rusher on day two. So they'll probably continue to add to that equation. I thought van noy had a really good year last year. I did. I thought he was one of their best defensive players last year. He was excellent. Opening up $5 million in letting some of the kids play. I think this is ultimately a net positive move. I really do. Socks for Calvin, no, this is a second year in a row. He's been a cat casualty, right? I think he'll end up somewhere. I think he'll, you know, some people have floated the Raiders and makes a ton of sense. I was going to say, wonder if you go to the Steelers, but actually him and Flores don't get along, right? But yeah, I think this is ultimately a good move. It's a little bit of a risk. A little bit of a risk, but I think, you know, the risk reward balance, the potential reward is so much higher than what the risk is. Yeah, I mean, you drafted guys like Ronnie Perkins and Joshua in particular, I would say over the last two years so that you can save this $5 million on the cap by not having better and like Kyle van noy. Exactly. At some point you gotta let it ride and see if these guys can play. The other thing I would say about this is the Patriots and I tweeted this out after they are after field Yates reported that Kyle van noy has been released. The Patriots were cap compliant before this move. They didn't need to do this move when they did it. Now maybe there are some good faith arguments here that they did it to let Kyle van noy hit the open market early and potentially sign somewhere. So that he was ahead of things. That could be part of it. But the main thing is that I see they're freeing up cap space. And I don't think that this is the only move that they're going to make to free up cap space over.

"In those conditions, I could see it being low scoring overall. I think I'm gonna go with the Patriots need to put up at least 24 points to win the game. Somewhere between 24 27 somewhere in there to win that game up there. Second question, this is a talking point, big picture thought from the season and it's gonna be one you'll probably hear. Really up until this game comes and probably after this game on Saturday, whether or not they win the game or not. Do you consider the 2021 22 season a successful season for the New England Patriots? It depends how it ends in Buffalo. At this point, at this point, without another game. Its success, sure, it's successful, but I would label it as disappointing the way they have finished. You know, one win down here down the stretch against Indy or buffalo or even this game where better starts. Look, you know, we talked about their starch early. I didn't even give out the stat. And those three games that they've lost, they fallen behind, combined, 57 to 7. How can anybody be not disappointed at that? I mean, that's just coming out in the biggest games of the year. Some of the most competitive games of the year and you're just not ready to answer the bell. How does that even happen? So if they go to buffalo and get wiped off the field, then I reserve the right Brendan to say that this was not a success. That would be ten and 8 for them. Last year they finished 7 and 9 with less talent, certainly less free Asian additions, Cam Newton at quarterback. Ten and 8 would not ten and 8 with basically not being in the game in Buffalo would not be good enough for me. Very open ended question I realized too and you can factor in, can they win in different ways, which is why I'm curious what it looks like in Buffalo on Saturday because if they do somehow pull out a come from behind win, then they get some credit for that, right? But if they could also get up early and that's the formula they've needed. So it makes you picture wonder. Question three is a league question. The firing of Brian Flores, what was your immediate reaction to when you saw this news? Surprise. It was surprised. I mean, I know and I've talked about it for the past year that I've heard that some of the players in Miami have not liked the Brian Flores experience. I mean, I don't have any tangible evidence to give you. I've just heard that. And I know some of the guys, you know, whether it's Kyle van noy or Ted Keras, guys who have come back to the Patriots. I haven't talked to them directly about this, but I have heard that they've, you know, generally. I think Kyle was okay with it. I think he didn't like the ending that basically, you know, Flores Flores has been a tough person to trust for some of the players. Kyle van noy signs to go down there all of a sudden he has a good year he does exactly what he does here and it gets cut and you know Ted Keras goes down there. He did not have a good experience down there. You know, but I thought Bryan Forrest was doing a good job. I think they just didn't have the quarterback or they hadn't solved that yet. Maybe it was the start of the season that doomed him, but I think he's a good coach..

"Bet online dot AG. The Patriots released their official injury report for Sunday's game against the New York Jets and have ruled out linebacker Kyle van noy van noy is dealing with a throat injury. It's uncertain when exactly the veteran linebacker had this injury occur. He finished the game against the Miami Dolphins last week. Then he showed up on the injury report on Wednesday and did not practice at all for the Patriots all week long and has now been ruled out for Sunday's game against the jets and other injury and news. Rookie kicker Quinn nordin is being moved to the injured reserve according to NFL networks Ian rappaport, nor dean will end up on IR with an abdomen injury. This means that Nick folk will probably be signed to the 53 man roster here shortly could be promoted for this game and then sign next week. But the veteran kicker ends up winning the job in the end despite nordeen making the 53 man roster nordean can return after missing three games, but more than likely spend the season on injured reserve and have full, keep the job for the rest of the duration. Some other good news for the Patriots on the injury report, however, offensive tackle Trent Brown who missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday for a return to practice on Friday and is officially questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Jets. So the Patriots starting right tackle Brown could play in the game on Sunday against gangrene. He is dealing with a calf issue. He missed everything but the opening drive against the Miami Dolphins last week due to that injury. But he might play in this game on Sunday, which is great news for the Patriots. Some other good news on the injury report. Nelson Aguilar and jaylen mills, they're both good to go. They've been removed from the report altogether, and they will suit up for the Patriots on Sunday against the jets. We got a very talkative Bill Belichick on Friday morning, a 35 minute press conference, including a ten minute Odyssey on the history of specialist in the NFL. Everything from long snappers, stuff holders, the kickers to punters, we got it all from Bill Belichick, basically a history lesson and a whole lot of knowledge dropped on what exactly the history of the league has been like at those specialist positions. He was asked a question. About why they carry specialists on the 53 man roster, most notably long snappers versus just cross training other players at other positions and Belichick gave a ten minute answer 1500 words. You can check that out on the YouTube channel patriots press pass. And we will have you completely covered from the Meadowlands on Sunday. I'll be down there at MetLife stadium covering patriots jets.

"That's what he's won consistently up near the top of the league amongst tight ends in terms of yards after the catch per reception. He obviously doesn't have the table at the Target share that a guy like a Travis Kelce has for instance where you could really rack up raw react totals, but just in terms of creating with the ball in his hands, he's really really good in that department. I don't know if he's dead a quicker as kind of agile through his route brakes as a guy like Hernandez was but he is that player that you know you go and you watch her Nana's old tape, they really obviously they had drunk so that that's part of the package he was somebody that they were always constantly moving around. I remember them running him having him run routes as a running back out of the backfield at times, you know, that's the type of thing that you could do with John who is kind of harken back to some of those Aaron Hernandez little wrinkles in the Playbook. I think he definitely fits that archetype. But again, I think a lot of that in the Gronk one, I think a lot of that worked because they had Rob Gronkowski. Yeah, and you don't like Johnny Smith is number two, I think makes more sense for the role that he would play. You don't want your loan tight end in the formation lining up in the back and like I don't know that that makes a ton of sense. And the question is is if you compare ja Tu and let's say they actually believed in Devin asiasi as an inline option because obviously did block pretty well last year, right, but then like your your number one tight end is your second best friend. I feel like you're just getting into this really weird cuz they're they put a lot into the pay structure. Right and all of that and John is going to be your highest paid tight end. He's going to be your best tight end. We're going to have him essential filling a number to roll. I just think that there's there's boundaries there in terms of how they usually operate and I'll say cuz I say it every show I have to say it take a drink cuz I said they're going to be uncharacteristically aggressive. So maybe they break the mold this year, but I just think there's boundaries to how they usually operate to make jonnu Smith a tough sell a little bit outside of their traditional birth. Boxes that need to be ejected. That's right, but they love versatility. They really do versatility. They love guys that they can move around he can certainly do that. Last one here Gerald Everett. This is now back into like the affordable tight end mark. Gerald Everett and five million dollars presents a ton of value because with the Rams their offense is really run through their wide receivers in their backpacks. It's not really a very tight and heavy offense. It didn't have a ton of opportunity playing in that big bass scheme. You give them some more opportunity. He certainly got some receiving skill. You can watch it. You can see it when he does get the chances to gain any can block a little bit. I think that Gerald ever it's a nice guy to kind of look at it what he could become in a year or two in a different system that really, you know, kind of amplifies his skill-set at the tight end versus what I was doing with him where he was really a fourth or fifth option at best. Yeah, I I like eifert kind of like you said because of the upside. I think he's a guy that talked about checking boxes. He checks a ton of the boxes for the Patriots in terms of size in terms of athleticism. He just dodged necessarily have the resume given a ton of opportunities. Some of that was a system. But.

"So let's take Corey Davis and my last name on my list and let's pair him with Curtis Samuel and what now you have a job in Corey Davis is going to play the X it's going to play outside and you have a guy in Curtis Samuel has your Z off the line flanked or whatever you want to call it receiver that can move all around the formation. I actually found at 3 a.m. From way back when Curtis Samuel was in the draft. I didn't I didn't remember this until I was searching my handle with Curtis Samuel's name for a video and I read realized that Curtis several used to play running back, right and that was his name. No role in college and his initial position in college. So he's got vertical ability at 431 speed and he's got bulk carrying ability with a running back background. So he is your sort of Swiss. Army knives versatile guy off. The line is from a jet. You're moving around. The formation Davis is your outside guy with your one-on-one coverage winner. That's an offense right. Now. You're starting to have complimentary pieces Curtis Samuel right off it around nine million dollars for David speaking 16 to Corey Davis to give 9 to Curtis Samuel here at that 25 for two is what we talked about all the time right now. You have an offense now, you have two complimentary offensive weapons that are going to be difficult to match up against that are going to be able to create mismatches across the field because the Patriots are going to be able to move those guys around and be creative with them exactly. That's what we're looking for. And you know, I think then you add a tight end to that whether it's Henry and now you're kind of spending a lot of money, but you're gonna have a pretty good offense or it's trading for Zach ertz, maybe yep. I like Tyler eifert who I don't thinks being talked about enough. I think I've heard, you know, he's played on some irrelevant teams radios in Cincinnati. And then he was with Jacksonville last year. Just you know, they're black holes their football black holes not really seen him, but he can play is he Henry know is he hurts based on what we saw last year if that regression holds he might be about that level, you know, you added him and now you have you know, not an elite number one side end, but the number one tight end and then Jacoby Myers, you know now suddenly there's a role for him. Now if Edelman comes back even though he's hurt he can maybe play a reduced role a situational role where there's less of a workload you figure out you sure you're doing it running back cuz James White's free agent, like now, you're putting it offense together where again if you spend twenty million dollars on Hunter Henry and twenty million dollars on all sides effort. You have a ton of star fat power but especially without a quarterback like that's not those players are hard to defend and Hunter Henry and all Shaun Geoffrey. But if you just add Hunter Henry and all Sean Jeffries the last year's Patriots offense. Yep. That tough to defend their not that much better. I think with those guys like the reason why I love a guy like Samuel as I mentioned the versatility in the ball-carrying..

"I just think with them, right they look at value our how do they value their not you're not getting him for what? Is it? Six games? Right? Yeah suspension the first six games of his contract and he served he survived those games at the end one. It's one game. Okay, so then yeah, like maybe he's an option I again with I just I I've said this before he's going to be probably top three paid received. Free agency, right? If not top five. I you know, if you're going to spend twenty five million dollars at that position give me a $15 guy and a ten million dollar guy instead of just 125 million dollar guy. That's just thought, you know, the Patriots need more than one receiver more than one established receiver. Can they go to the draft sure, but what are they really have four nfl-caliber wide receivers on this roster? I you know what Julian Edelman status is going to be during the year. N'keal. Harry obviously is still a project to Mere bird is a third fourth receiver. Maybe he's not a guy you count on a Jacoby Myers is the closest thing they have and she's even you know, he he shouldn't be your first receiver. He should be your third or fourth. So right there you need at least two. If not three guys, if you spend all that money on will Fuller all that's going to have to happen is we'll Fuller's going to get double-covered and yeah, Jacoby Myers has a slightly better year than he did last year, but you're kind of just right back where you were they need to have Optimum. They need guys who will stress the defense from different points blowing twenty million dollars on will Fuller. Well, he's a good player doesn't solve that it needs to be multiple players. They need to build an offense not just a bulb talent and what it's going to cost them to bring in will Fuller I think handcuffs them in acquiring some of that second level talent that they ultimately need to get back into contention. Yeah, I agree with all that. I think the biggest thing was off though just to play Devil's Advocate is that the Patriots have been the slowest offense in the NFL for two years, right? They've been I would say even arguably three years if you want to go back to the 2018 season, even though I'm with a Superbowl not offense had issues certainly during the regular season that time that's a really big issues and will Fuller when he's healthy and that's that's a big if if he's healthy he comes in here and he brings a level of explosiveness that they have not had since I guess Brandin Cooks, right? They they just haven't had somebody that can truly explode and create big plays for the offense..

"That's it the conversations over your job done so they have to hit on that like if you under Henry, yes, you can't add any more but in theory, that should be fine because you have Hunter Henry in your okay. So like I'm not worried about that I would think a.m. Wouldn't be worried about that cuz you're not signing Hunter Henry with the thought that shoot now. We can't add any more tight ends. You shouldn't need to that being said if they really want, you know, a better second tight end on top of it than this is not your guy. Then what you need to do is sign a Gerald Everett or trade for Zach ertz, and then get back into the draft and try to get one of these top-tier tight ends. That's how you build that way. And then maybe you cut bait with Dalton Keenan some point to free up the roster spot. I don't think you can look at when it comes to the draft. I think you can look at Asia Asia and Keen as stopping the addition of a tight end because three tight ends on rookie deal you really tied in now to guys who are not sure things Hunter Henry injuries aside is as sure thing as you're going to get so if you're bringing him in I'm not worried if that closes the door in the same position because it should be closed. You shouldn't need to add another tight end if you get Hunter Henry, but again if they want to get them that projection was what twelve and half over forty years. It might take 60/4 bath. Not only are you going to need to pay him the most you're going to need to pay him significantly more since he's coming to a situation where there's offensive uncertainty. You might need to pay him $15 a year is he said that he would be if he didn't get hurt a lot. I can tell you that we know the Chargers medical staff is like I want to say a mess. That's underselling it one of their one of their traits just punctured to starting quarterbacks lungs and it was like, oh this isn't the first time something that's dumb has happened. So, you know, maybe Hunter Henry is not injury-prone. Maybe the Chargers just suck ass at keeping them healthy, which that certainly lines up right every year. There's one big charger injury and training camp. McCain has been hurt his entire career in Allen. Who is Casey Hayward. You've got hurt like four years in a row off like it's it's even trickier there cuz you don't know what the real injury situation is. But again, they're going to have to pay him and pay him a lot, but I wouldn't let that I wouldn't let that stop me cuz I'm He solves your issues at tight end as well. As any option. You're going to get this offseason. Yeah, I agree a hundred percent with that. It wasn't interesting thing about Hunter Henry is quarterback comment was is that does that mean that he doesn't feel that Justin Herbert wage is a good enough quarterback to bring him back to the Chargers. I don't know if he necessarily meant that but say that the quarterback has to be good and he's willing to kind of shop himself in free agency a little bit kind of suggest that maybe he doesn't feel like a rookie or a second-year quarterback..

"Really prototypical Patriot type of player Patrick Stewart is probably going to be a top ten top 15 pick but he's definitely a patriot type of corner, press 15 to 25. Maybe. I don't know. It depends on who you ask for. Now on Caleb Farley has a lot of people dead. Spooning as well because of his athleticism. But either way he's going to be in the top ten top fifteen of the NFL draft JC horn I think is another guy who might be the most physical Corner in the entire draft, right? He plays a really physical brand of football both against the past and in run support he can tackle he can really play press man coverage. He's got fluidity. He's got all the man coverage skills in the world that you're going to want to stop all skills is. Lengths. He went to South Carolina just like Gilmore, right? You know there there's a lot of things that he resembles in a patriot type of corner as well. So there are guys in the draft especially at first round conversation at fifteen that the value is going to be there and the skill set and the translation into the Patriots defense is 100% going to be there now. None of us really want our closing time for the Patriots to take the corner in the first round necessarily, but if they lose a guy like Gilmore, they need to have somebody in that spot that can start and play productively right away. You can't really go off. With all let's see what happens with Joanne Williams at that spot or let's put Jason McCourty there at that spot of his age. I think that's a losing proposition. So somebody next to the other side of Jesse Jackson may be a ready tailor-made corner and I think it's there's a bunch of options in the first round there that I just mentioned. I don't know if Farley is necessarily their type of guy. He's pretty raw but Patrick's aren't and JC horn in particular two guys that definitely check a lot of boxes for the Patriots. Yeah. And I mean, I it's an interesting point about Gallup you kind of just trade one need for another I I'm still you know, I think they can get a first-round pick them trading in to the top fifteen within they're not going to do that. But again a team like the Packers that the windows so small, what does that first round pick really do for them right by the time that guys ready to go off is Aaron Rodgers even still there? Okay. So like I look at that and I think it just makes all the sense in the world for them to bring in a veteran. There's not a ton they can do with that pic. I know you have to figure out the cap side of it but the dog As Belichick lights to say can be maneuvered so I'm not I don't know like if you trade for a guy like Michael Gallup, right who you just brought up.

"All right, we wanted to talk about one more place a news here before we move on to our free agency offensive preview. We did defense last week. We're going to do offense this week non-quarterback still cuz we talked so much about the TVs the other piece of info. We wanted to talk with Jason La Canfora saying that NFL Executives feel that Stephon Gilmore is basically trade bait nap or New England and he's going to be traded at some point in this offseason would have liked him for his name. It was a foregone conclusion is basically what he is hearing of Gilmore being traded we've talked about this one briefly, but maybe not as in-depth as we could this seems like a really strong possibility that's been happening for a very long time last training camp. The Patriots had to give him an advance in his salary to get him back into Camp as he was unhappy with his contract. He puts his house on the market because you know right around the trade deadline the end off deadline last season, he doesn't get moved. They tried to move him or had conversations about moving him before the draft as well last year. So this is a long time coming that Stephon Gilmore and the Patriots are parting ways off. Yeah, and it I don't know that it made sense for them to like need to do it enough at any of those previous points. You mentioned it makes sense. Now, he needs a new contract. They're going in another Direction, you know, giving a thirty-year-old cornerback. Twenty-five Thirty million dollars a year, whatever it's going to be. It's just not where they are as an organization right now. So it makes a ton of sense at this point. The question is how do they approach it? Are they going to look at a player for player wage in maybe you find a player on another team who's in a similar spot at a position of need right corner is not exactly that kind of position need for the Patriots. Is there a wide receiver somewhere is is their safety package where who's in this kind of same spot that they can just essentially trade problem for problem or do you go into the draft? That's what I would do. I wrote about this last week for 98 five The Sports Hub, You can check it out. I think what you have to do with Gilmore. Look at what the Vikings did was to find Dick's last year. They traded him for it and it was a bunch of pics but we're just going to highlight the trade him for a first-round pick. They then use a first-round pick on the same position. So, yes, you give up an established veteran but an established veteran who wanted out and in exchanging it younger at the position yet more affordable at the position if you hit on the pick, you still suck. Player, obviously that last one's a big if but you know digs was under contract because I think had for years left on a five-year do when they made that trade..

"That was I would say arguably the worst part of their job. Last year was setting the edge of the defense John Simon Chase winovich really struggled in that role of annoyed did not so I think that this is an easy one and easy one to decide that they should go after him I would get sick and I guess I'll just to backtrack something I said cuz I saw somebody I can remember who points us out on Twitter. There is I guess technically one more patriots satellite campus out there now that's down in Tampa and they do have some linebacker wage depending for agent. So maybe that's competition but it's a different scheme that right, you know, it's not the like the Patriots gave me add two braids becoming more and more the coach. He might take over the defensive side of the ball at some point, This is Todd Bowles of the defense is a very good defensive coordinator. He just won the Super Bowl basically, so I think the other thing was going down there I will mention is that maybe more so than brown noise extremely close with Robbie G as he calls him Rob Gronkowski those who were really good friends in New England. So maybe if you're looking for a Tampa Bay connection, I think it's actually be on Brady wage. It might actually be wrong that could really appeal to Kyle Van Noy again. I think the biggest thing is though is that he knew that Bill Belichick optimized him here in New England. He knew that his skill-set was best song by Bill and I remember he went on I can't remember I think was a Bleacher Report podcast or something like that where he said, I got to New England Bill kind of gave me like a three-step plan of how he was going to use me in this defense fact. I kind of had an epiphany of like, wow, this guy knows exactly how to use me correctly. This is exactly how I should have been playing my entire career and he really turned it around with the Patriots. This would be an awesome move for the pass. This is exactly the type of player the type of situation that they needed somebody that they have a past relationship with that. They can bring in to add to the front seven. I couldn't really think I had never thought of this was a possibility cuz I think he actually had a pretty solid season, you know, you just as a you know, we did last week the cap casualties as a cap casualty. They have Andrew van ginkel who isn't Vannoy but isn't a bad player at all. Solid player so, you know, there's not a nine million dollar gap between the two of them..

"Let's get into a little bit of games specific stuff everything again. Obviously a nice run defense is a thing. I don't think it matters much in the long run. But this was for against a dolphin team that really doesn't Rush the ball that well. This was fairly surprised. Well, I just think it comes back to the fact that really all year long. I've kind of thought that flying under the radar was the Patriots lack of first and down first and second down Edge Defenders game that can really said a sturdy edge of that's the scheme that they're going to continue to run moving forward and they're not going to go to some of these one gabbing penetrating style defense has that we see more and more across the NFL if they're going to stick to the boss two gabbing style. They are going to have to upgrade at Edge this offseason whether it's a guy in free agency that they bring in or someone like that and I think last year was Van Noy and Collins and and suck on and so forth. I think we got a little bit. I don't know. I think Bill thought that he could plug in play certain guys there like a Simon like some of the rookies like a winovich and it just hasn't really worked out that way. So I yeah, yeah, and and that I think has been the linebacker level is a problem too. I think really the whole front seven needs an upgrade in a lot of spots and they could use a nose tackle. Certainly that could eat up some blocks in the song. Along with Lawrence guy, but not being able to set the edge of the defense and really failing multiple times and doing that today. That was a big big problem for them against the Rams as well. It's been a problem all year. The Niners game with the Niners ran all over him that was often off the edge or attacking those Edge Defenders. So guys like John Simon, you know, he's a great Patriot. He's at that lunch pail type of guy bring the heart hath to work all that kind of stuff. But at the same time that player maybe works out a little bit better when you have a Dante Hightower and you have a Kyle Van Noy and you have Jamie Collins you have guys on the defensive or I can defeat box. And now when they don't have that Talent around a John Simon is easily exposed and if somebody that's a little bit, you know more in the conversation as like a regular every-down player, which has been a major concern on the edge setting setting the end of the defense against the Run. We all want to talk about why when if it doesn't laying why would if it doesn't play well that big thirty five yarder you can see that's cool. Winovich isn't playing. He got bullied right off. The ball doesn't do enough dream aswell yet. You know, I mean it is what it is. Right? And and that's just a this front seven of the defense was a concern going into a year. It was a concern all season long and then it kind of figured itself out in certain matchups against Baltimore against Arizona. They had some good run defense games, but they'll big picture and large picture is that the run defense in the front seven needs a lot of fine-tuning in the offseason. That's for

Feel is in shade with blue skies overhead on a beautiful fall day here in the Meadowlands, Herndon emotional left side of the line, Donald under center for the back, They take it to court. Donald sits over the pocket. Now he's pressured and he has swallowed up and take it down. By Kyle Van Noy. It backs him all the way out to the 32 yard line may lose eight yards on the play. Well, I mean, they brought all sex and they brought in the tight end Herndon to block And then I just came on a twist on with Shaq Lawson the defensive end and nobody picked him up on the twist. But for saying, Donald, you got to know that the pressure's coming just have to get the you have to put it up there and let your receivers on the outside that we're running to the ends. Don't give him a chance, but you can't hold it. Therdsak today against Donald 13 16 for the Jack to the 32 of the Dolphins. Low shotgun snap picks it up throws on a slant. Mims wide open has it at the 25 gets to the 20. Then he's surrounded and take it down short of the first down by about a yard. He needed 16 he got about 15. That was the right throw by Sam Underneath the men. Memc comes up a yard short two jets, of course or staying on the field. Frank Gore comes onto the field. Along with extra tight ends. Daniel Brown comes out there. It's 1/4 and one of the Dolphin 17 yard line. It's every bit of a yard to it's not inside the yard. They've got to get inside. "Because I don't want to run out of time I do want to touch on what transpired in patriot world today yes Tom Brady is now Tampa Bay bucs the it is borderline old news now because it's a couple days add the reverberations will go on for a very long period of time there after but the news itself is not breaking today you did have a couple of moves that were breaking news today in New England give me a read on the two sidings the patriots had brain a couple of the guy I talk play for my jets this year not a bad player as a matter of fact and the return of Brian Hoyer to potentially compete for the starting quarterback job there in New England give me your thoughts on both to two months yeah I think they're directional moves I think as soon as you know sort of the cold side Philip rivers you know a lot of people around here we're thinking that you know reunion with lawyer or maybe even Jacoby percent was up author bility I think the horrible exactly he's got he's got great knowledge of this offense he knows that locker room he does the coaching staff so he'll come in and help you know if not compete for the starting job to always be a great sounding boards for Jarrett Stidham you know who's kind of a presumptive you know successor to Brady a fourth round pick out of Auburn last year so a great locker room guy you know like I said very knowledgeable and you know one thing about Brian Williams when the patriots won the Super Bowl against the rams two years ago he was universally wanted by his teammates for his ability to run the scout team and kind of morph into the opposing quarterback down the stretch in the playoffs run so really good guy really good signing I just just make a lot of sense for him to be here you know Brandon Copeland the guy who did the patriots has seen up close for a number of years now where they pay it you know in the at the I got at the Coachella tickets Oct glowingly about the past seems like the patriots have a guy you know good special teams guy and also has that versatility that the patriots love in their life back together can rush the passer he can drop in coverage you can play the run picnic walk a lot of guys in free agency this week Kyle van Noy Jamie Collins in the Robert so really need to restock that line backing core and feel good start getting brand coke on a guy who they had interesting last offseason but weren't able to

Quick-hit thoughts on the Patriots' win over the Bills

"Patriots sixteen to ten win over the bills in Orchard Park. The bills made this a game after a very slow start but there would be no magic when Barkley Barkley replaced an injured Josh Allen Greg who bravely locked up the Patriots in this kind of didn't see a lot of offense on display in Buffalo. No you asked you know going into this game. The bills make a statement or did the Patriots do Patriot. I guess it's both because the bills made a statement they made Tom Brady look worse than any has in in a long time. This was his lowest passer rating since two thousand six in a game. It's the most passes he's ever thrown in a game without getting to two hundred yards didn't even get close closely at one fifty. He was under fifty percent completion. They had seven drives where they went three and out they had only a couple apple more where where they got one first down they did nothing offensively and late in the game they were inside the five yard line with a chance to go up to scores and and they smartly kicked a field goal and I thought that was bill belichick saying this bills defense is is too good for us. We need to just go up six points. That's the kind of defense buffalo played but they get a special teams touchdown they knockout Josh Allen in the fourth quarter and they do a lot of things defensively on their own to get the Stop ATM in my tracks the decision fourth and goal to go for it because it feels like a patriots thing that they would go for it and since the moment but you're right they had that much faith the defense which they should be doing defense is incredible and the bills just weren't moving the ball. I mean you locked up New England but if someone had told me that you would have held Tom Brady eighty two three point eight yards per attend sub Gabbard so if you would have given up only sixteen points to this offense and if Frank Gore would have run for one hundred and nine yards at six point four yards spur Kerry I would have plucked up the bills. I would've thought they're going to find a way to they're not an explosive offense but find a way to get seventeen points. I mean the difference was the punt return touchdown. The Patriots scored the Patriots offense only scored ten bills offense scored ten and the Patriots Defense was very lucky to hold the bills to only ten because the bills did do a better job especially in the second half moving up and down the field but the situational defense that the Patriots have especially in the red zone with Jamie Collins and Kyle Van Noy and everything that they can do was really special today. You're tipping your tap. Your tipping your cap to a good bills defense and a well coached team. But how much of this does it raise any red flags for are you on the Patriots offense. It's a long season. I said going into this game. I didn't think their offense was nearly up to speed their offensive line. got pushed around. I think this the bills defense had a great plan for them. I mean yeah they have to be. They're going to be a different team in December one way or another whether they're better or worse. They're going to be totally different the fact that they we're able to sneak out a win was
