"2000 point score who's 24 years old. He's 6 years older than the youngest guy on the roster in Kellen Grady from Davidson. And all of a sudden, you're a lot older, you're a lot more mature and this is a group that I think Cal as refresh cow too. They're fun to coach for that reason because he feels like he's not teaching remedial basketball for three months before they figure it out. Talking to Kyle Tucker from the athletic about Kentucky and Kyle, you've seen it all up there. And picking the road to the final four before the brackets is foolhardy, but just what's your sense of this team and what are they capable of? Well, I think there are certainly there is certainly a case to be made that at full strength, healthy and sort of clicking, this is the best or one of the two or three best teams in the country. They've looked like it. I think a lot of people sat up and really took notice of that when they went to Kansas and blew out Kansas, which nobody ever does. They've had a string of injury issues and some of their key marquee road games that have marked those and it's hard to judge. Okay, what are they really? Because they didn't have Thai tie Washington or they didn't have severe Wheeler or they didn't have both. And that's been the case for in multiple games. And so the big question, Mark hanging over them, now their whole again, those guys have come back, both those guys played well in the last game, which I think was big for them. Can they keep can they keep them healthy? If they can avoid any more injury and keep this group together and you win this game Saturday against Florida, win a game or two in the SEC tournament, even if you don't win the thing. But just kind of get the team clicking again because they've had these guys out. And then stay healthy. I think you're looking at a final four team. I think you are certainly looking at a team that could win the national championship if the matchups are right in their healthy. But that's a big if, because they've only played now. I think they've now played 13 games at complete full strength, not interrupted by an injury to someone in their primary rotation. You mentioned injuries and that might be the answer to this question, but what could, what could unravel this team? What could knock them out earlier than hoped? Yeah, injury would be at the very top of the list. I think Oscar shibe he's done an unbelievable job staying out of foul trouble this year and it was a big concern, but it's really not been an issue. He is doing historic things. He's got a chance to be the first guy since the since 1980 in college basketball, the average at least 16 points and 15 rebounds both. And so I mean, he's the heart and soul of their team. And if he got in foul trouble in the wrong matchup, they'd be a big trouble because they don't have anybody like Oscar. They don't even have a remotely comparable replacement for Oscar. That would be probably number two on my list. And three would be just sort of an offensive meltdown where severe Wheeler has played largely under control for them and benefit facilitator, but he's not a great shooter and if there's a night where he decides to go rogue and he shoots three for 15, they could lose. But I think short of getting injured, they don't have a lot of just obvious flaws. I think the one that Cal's worried about right now is because of all those injuries, I think in large part. The last 5 games they went from an elite defensive team to a bad defensive team for a 5 game stretch here, I think I'll be keeping an eye on if they can get that dial back in now that everybody's back in the lineup. Going into the NCA tournament. I'm curious before you go. We're so used to in Nashville, the site of almost every SEC tournament one in recent memory of seeing Kentucky fans everywhere. The shirts in Tampa, what will we see of Kentucky down there next week? I'm curious about that too. I mean, I don't understand it. I don't see any logic whatsoever to putting the SEC tournament in Tampa, Florida. I mean, even when Florida has been really good, I don't think Florida fans are showing up to that. I think it ought to be almost always in Nashville. You can every four or 5 years, drop it in Atlanta and every decade or so, maybe I'll personally, I'd say put it in New Orleans. Every now and then. But beyond that, I see no logical reason to put it anywhere, but mostly Nashville occasionally Atlanta and just for my own personal entertainment, give me New Orleans once a decade. Yeah, I understood the St. Louis three years ago as much as terrible as it was there. That was kind of a promise. I'm sure they made when Missouri came into the league, but I don't know the answer to that. We'll find out next week, but you're right. It is a peculiar place and when Kentucky, Kentucky, on a given Friday in Kentucky, what percentage of that given Friday in Nashville, what percentage of that place would be Kentucky fans. Oh, I mean, in Nashville, it's 80 plus percent. I mean, I have all I have always referred to as Bridgestone arena in Nashville is wrapped south. I mean, it's rubbery. And frankly, I think when Kentucky's playing in the SEC semifinals or championship game and it's in Nashville, that environment is better than rup arena. It absolutely is because that's a lot of the fans who aren't the wealthy fans who can afford the season ticket and sit down. The die hard. Likes to say they're spending their rent money in their cigarette. To play, you'll watch them play in the SEC tournament. And that's true. That's the average Kentucky fan. And it's a huge advantage. It may be neutralized by having it in Tampa this year. Kyle many thanks, great to have you on. We'll talk to you soon. Thank you. Well, we made it to the end of the week. Appreciate you being a part of the.

"Has been fantastic. Hasn't it? 9 wins and years two and I think the buzz just continues for this football program as we get ready for spring practice to start one week from Sunday, we had the chance to catch up with coach. I think he was making the rounds here a couple of days ago and he's just all fired up for some new players on campus already and then of course for some early enrollees. So your love where he's at already KJ Jefferson coming back, he's got everybody thinking of a miracle run to a playoff and maybe a Heisman contender kind of season out of him. I know that's putting the cart way ahead of the horse here, but a lot of excitement headed into the spring and really the big question here right now, Paul is what is the deal, literally. What is the ambient new contract going to look like? And with the last we heard, right? A couple of months back was it was negotiating for a new contract with new agent Sammy Jimmy Sexton, so I don't know. He probably going to get a big raise, know word on that yet, but Pittman saying he's not going anywhere, and I have to believe him right now. I mean, he's got things rolling here. They always go, they always hire Jimmy Sexton. Hired him late in his career at the end of the mississippian pitman had piven did pip and have an agent before that, Josh? He did. A Gallup by the name of Judy Henry has long time friend and agent, yes. So I guess it was time to move on to greener. You call your friend and say, listen, you were a great you're a great friend, but you're no longer my agent. It's nothing personal. It's business, Paul. Not with a guy like me. I mean, if you had been my agent all along Josh, you would have stayed my agent. I believe you too. That's why we love you, Paul. You're so loyal. You're so low. JB, come back soon. We're always enjoy the conversation. Paul appreciates you. Talk to you again. Great stuff from Josh bernardini. Man, Pittman hiring Jimmy Sexton. What else can we learn on a Friday afternoon? "And he hates it. He rants about it because he knows he can't stop it and he's not a master of manipulating it. He's figured out the current system and how to win. Good for him, but now the rules have changed and he doesn't like it and he's acting like a spoiled brat going on and on and on about it. And he did throw his players under the bus. He absolutely did. And you know Paul as well as I do. Nick Saban's a little Napoleon figure and I'm not saying Napoleon's not necessarily a bad guy. He wins. But Saban is pouting in throwing conniption fits that the rules have changed and he ain't the master of it. So market Paul no more. Foggy, this conversation will be continued. Thank you so much. We want to be joined now by Josh bernardini. Everybody in the northwest Arkansas knows the show in the morning with a JB JB. It is a great talk to you again. How are you, my friend? I'm brave. I hope you're doing well. We are. And certainly, we had coach muscleman on the other day, fantastic conversation. Arkansas football, basketball. Everything seems to be going well. Let's talk about basketball for a second and just this incredible run. The razorbacks are on. Absolutely 14 wins in their last 15 games. It definitely feels like Eric musselman has got things rolling here and you're number three, right? One year after going to the elite 8 last year. So I don't know if your point to particular game this year as a turnaround, maybe the LSU game when they rallied in early January. But all we agree to start SEC play certainly had some folks a little bit concerned this year, but once again, Eric musselman, yeah, has got the team playing great defense, top 5, field goal percentage against in the country. And the dogs are playing, I guess, for a share of the title. On Saturday, in Knoxville. That's incredible. I mean, after last year's incredible NCAA run, it was starting to wonder like, what could they possibly do to top it? But this team, you know, you don't know until you see the bracket and even then the NCAA tournament speaks for itself, but what are the thoughts regardless of the outcome tomorrow or in Tampa? What are people thinking in relation to what this team is capable of in March? It's a great question. I feel like last year's the lead 8 year two in some ways, maybe was a little bit ahead of the curve for this team because Eric musselman had been really looking ahead to a big recruiting class event talent now for a couple of years and they'll be on campus coming up here in the summer and fall. So this team was almost with 5 transfers and just a few attorneys from last year's elite 18. This was almost an in between team at the start of the year. I think maybe expectations were a little bit tempered. You know, be in the NCAA tournament, but back to back to lead 8. I don't know if that was going to conversation. Now that they've got on this kind of a hot streak, now that they are playing so well together, I think expectations are right back up again. So we'll see where they end up seed wise, three, four, maybe as low as a 5, but Paul, I think the thing that has Maya has opened right now. I know yours and a lot of folks in college hoops land as well. It does feel like it's really, truly finally, completely wide open. There's not that one team that absolutely unbeatable Kentucky team we saw a few years ago or a loaded Kansas team duke's been playing really well. Lately, but that's not maybe the strongest team coach gaze. So it's genuinely feels like it's anybody's ball game and if Arkansas keeps playing defense the way it's playing and JD note keeps playing like an SEC player of the year, there's no reason they can't be playing final four time on the third weekend. Josh, before you go, I realize March Madness is here, but I do want to just get some final thoughts on after recruiting spring ball about to start on what Sam Pittman has been doing. I mean, other than fantastic..

"Done because he's having to bleed some more money out of the rams because Kentucky pays so well. I think over his latest updated deal, he stands to make an average of 1.2 million a year at Kentucky, whereas I don't think the rams offered him that out of the gate and he's trying to get compensated there. It speaks well of what Kentucky's done. They've spent on facilities. They've spent on stoops to keep him. They spent on the staff across the board. They have three different assistants making over a $1 million a year. They've just announced they're going to upgrade their indoor practice facility. They will have done a complete transformation of the program from a financial and facility standpoint to the point that they can compete with everybody, I think. Finally, on that subject, it was another big year in Kentucky. We see this now twice in the last couple of years. Where does this program go from here? Well, they want to win the SEC east. And obviously, try to win the SEC. That's a tall order. I think it's a lot of people think it's a pipe dream. Even winning the east is so tough because now you've got this other juggernaut in Georgia there. But Kentucky is positioned itself as the second or third best team in the SBC east for a good stretch of time now to go 40 years between ten win seasons and then have two of them in the last four years under Mark stoops. Finish above 500 in the SEC. That's something that Kentucky just hasn't done. And now can they take that next step? That's a huge the remaining steps are huge ones. They've taken a bunch of they've climbed a bunch, but I don't know if they can take the next step. I think they're doing all the things that you would think you have to do. They just signed their best recruiting class ever. I think the transfer portal may be opened the door there for a program like Kentucky to do the unthinkable because you can get impact players like Wanda Robinson who comes in and in one year sets all their receiving records and will levis who's been a game changer at quarterback for them. If you get three or four of those guys plus great recruiting, the transfer portal may be lets them make a move. Especially if Georgia falters or somebody gets hurt in the middle of the year or a couple of upset there on Georgia's schedule, maybe Kentucky can keep positioning itself to be there ready and waiting if that opportunity presents itself. Great conversation is always with Kyle Tucker. We will see you soon, Kyle. Thank you very, very much for joining us. We'll see you in the SEC tournament and we are coming back with much, much more. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. And we welcome all of you back. More phone calls here and more guests a little bit later on and let's check out Charles is up next in Georgia. Hello, Charles. We are doing well. Thank you. Let's do it. I want to talk to you about a few things. My first question is, who do you think might be replacing Matt Lucas or the lack of? Charles, I'm not certain based on what Kirby smart has done recently. It's going to be somebody he feels very comfortable with his last two major hires have been will muschamp and Mike Bobo before that. If you remember he brought Scott Cochran over so he likes people that he has been around before. Right, right? Now.

"Can you explain that? Trey, the only thing I can say is the only thing less relevant than James the caller is the AP weekly poll in basketball. It means absolutely nothing, the seating is all that matters. We're up against a break. We'll talk about basketball in Kentucky right after this. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. A year ago, we were talking about how bad the university of Kentucky basketball program was about to miss the tournament going nowhere, but John calipari turned it all around with a couple of key recruits, especially some transfers and Kyle Tucker covering that story and more for the athletic cow. Great to have you back on the program. What a difference a year makes or cliche that just doesn't get old right now in the Commonwealth, does it? No, no. This has been the team to sort of refresh the program. I think rejuvenate John calipari and really make Kentucky basketball fans fall back in love with their team. It's the last year was bad. Very bad. As bad as it gets the worst season in almost a hundred years and this has been a complete one 80 for them. Really in style and function and results, all of it. Well, take us through the reconstruction of UK basketball and what has mattered most. Well, there's a couple things. I think one is age and two is personality. I mean, this is the most unusual John calipari team yet in 13 years at Kentucky. And I mean, you talk about a course correction, even before last season's total meltdown, they hadn't been to the final force since 2015 when they almost went undefeated. And since then, I think there's been sort of this steady, I think fatigue of the one and done, relying so heavily on freshmen and when it falls apart, you go, well, we were so young. That no longer the case. They went out and got well, one they had a couple of guys stick around. Key on Brooks and Jacob topping are huge pieces that are back as juniors. Davion mintz as a super senior back, so three guys there. And then they went out and got some experience. They went and got some guys that without a doubt, you know, can play. You go get killing Grady a 2000 point score at Davidson. You know he can play. You know he can make shots and making shots was an issue for Kentucky as well last year. You go get Oscar she way, who you know is going to give you the post presence that you completely lack last season. You know that he, you know, just look at him and know that he's not going to get bullied in the paint. He was one of the best rebounders in the country when he was at West Virginia. You know what you're getting there coming in as a junior is a 21, 22 year old guy. And severe Wheeler, a junior coming in who led the SEC in assists. You know what you're getting there. And so now you have this roster that every year they rely on three to 5 freshmen heavily. Now you have a roster where one freshman Thai Thai Washington is it. They rely on him and nobody else in the freshman class has to perform this year. The rest of those guys are juniors and seniors and super seniors mints and Grady both starting over a hundred games in college. That's a massive change for Kentucky. That alone and that experience is obviously helped them. And then, you know, fans love that, and they love the results, but also the personality and Oscar she way being sort of the leading force there. People, people love everything. He's about the smile sort of the joy and the happiness that he plays with, how hard he plays and then when he finishes when he talks about how much he loves being at Kentucky and he talks about how much of a connection he has with the fan base at Kentucky. This is just a group that these fans want to like and it's been easy to like because they're winning a lot. We still have a few weeks to go and it's not a selection Sunday without John calipari complaining about his seating, but it looks like he can take care of some of that in these next two to three weeks. What does Kentucky need to do to end up on the one line? Well, I think they could do it by winning out losing a Tennessee pretty badly the other night didn't help, but then turning around shorthanded and finding a way to beat Alabama come back from 13 down and beat Alabama without two of your starting guard. I think was a big message. They've got three wins that really got everybody's attention. They go and spent Kansas on the road, which never happens at Allen fieldhouse. They demolish Tennessee in the first meeting by 28. And then they have this game against Alabama, it's got it's been a strange sort of heckle. Jekyll and Hyde, Alabama team, but they've beaten three top 5 teams this year. They had Kentucky on the rope shorthand and to win that game was the other one I think that got a lot of people's attention. People know how good Kentucky is. The question is, how do you judge them for all the games that they've played not at full strength? 12 now out of 27, only 12 they've played without any injury or illness issue knocking somebody in their top 7 out of the rotation. Only 12 games at total full strength. So I think it's tough to judge them. People I think believe they're one of the three or four best teams in the country, but their resume doesn't totally stack up yet. Because they've awesome game shorthanded. Can they go when in Arkansas on Saturday? And can they get back in the SEC tournament and maybe get a rematch with auburn, which again, they had injuries down the stretch there, a huge injuries at auburn, where they felt like they could win that game. Can they get the rematch and beat them? I think Ben, if that's the case, you certainly have to think about Kentucky as a one C Carla switch over to football where you're reporting that Lee and comb could be back to where he started. What's going on with the football operation? Yeah, I think it's a great spot to be in if you're Kentucky. I mean, it's a tough spot, having to potentially replace your offensive coordinator a couple of weeks before spring practice. But to know that stoops is hiring guys at the NFL and other high major programs, national championship contending programs are trying to steal from. You know, they lose their offensive line coach to Alabama. They've had the NFL come knocking for multiple guys. They've had Michigan and others come try to steal different assistant coaches. I think you're obviously putting together a really good staff that way. And to have a guy that was not the receivers coach with their rams. He was the assistant receivers coach with the rams a year ago Liam Cohen comes in and really liked your offense back on fire and to the point that high end skill guys and the recruit recruiting world are interested in coming again. That was impressive and now the fact that a year a year later, the Super Bowl champs want him back as their coordinator. I think it says something about the kind of talent evaluation not only on the field, but in the coaching rooms Mark stews is doing. It also says something about the way Kentucky pays now and spends now in football like the big boys that Liam Cohen's deal's not done as we speak as far as I know..

"It is Tuesday and the twos are holding all the cards on two, 22, 22. This used to be known as George Washington's birthday. No longer. Welcome to Tuesday, and we are glad that you have dropped by. We have a lot to do on this Tuesday afternoon and let's get right to it with some headlines and a number of guests. Oh my goodness, he didn't stay long. Liam Cohn, about the head back to LA, he was the he was with the rams, he left. Now that they are Super Bowl champs and their offensive coordinator has gone to Minnesota, Liam reportedly heading back west. Matt Luke made it official as we were heading out of here last night. He has said goodbye to Georgia after three years. No hidden reasons, Matt Luke. She says, genuine burnout and reassessment, is this a tweet from me or Matt Luke? Genuine burnout or reassessment of priorities. Bigger takeaway, this is going to become more commonplace until the college football calendar is addressed. Whatever that means. Nick Saban's not going anywhere. Do not ask him any longer about retiring. Translation, you'd rather be doing this than any place I can think of, I don't know about you. I can only think of 10 million reasons, 10 million reasons a year. Why Nick Saban likes his job? Cow has been inspired by Sabin. He showed his speech to the team and his team, of course, right now, I'm on the top four in the country. Oscar she boy is the man of the moment. He is leading the cats. Hopefully, to the promised land, and I always helping catch the last one of championship ten years ago in New Orleans, have you checked to see where the final four is this year? And we have a couple of guests that you will be interested in, not she way, but a guy who covers him Kyle Tucker from the athletic. Alan ship knock, you've heard about this Phil Mickelson controversy, he'll be with us later on. Shahan J waja, from CBS sports and Tom Hart in Columbia, Missouri. And your phone calls at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5. We begin with James. In Alabama, hello, James. Paul, so you got Phil Mickelson on today? That's not what I said. I know I didn't say that, James. I thought I'd just James, I didn't say that, so anything else. Okay. You want to question my addiction. No, actually, I was just concerned that you having somebody that's left handed golfer. Are you having a good day today, ball? I am. Okay. I don't want to get off on the wrong foot with you, brother. Well, I mean, we can if you like. Be careful, James. What's the matter? You gonna hang up on me? You're a hiccup away from being being dirt. Dark. Dirt or soul. I don't know. What's better? I guess soil is better than dirt, isn't it? Well, actually, a lot of people, they get soul and dirt mixed up. Dirt's what you have on your kitchen floor, which mostly is probably from soul, and that's why we call it dirt. You ever sweep your kitchen floor with Paul. Yes. This one right here in the sweeping. Something fierce. Paul, what's going on with your show, man. I won't even mention what I heard on there a couple of days ago. I had to cut the radio off and unplug my radio. I mean, the program just went off the rails and it's like you're trying to run a matchmaking operation. Is that your Wheelhouse Paul? James, one thing we try to do here is we try to have fun. We try to have entertaining calls, not those entire audience to sleep. Uh oh, so now you're ready to make me dirt again. James, usually when someone calls, it's a conversation. I always feel like when I'm talking to you, I'm waiting for the Russian interpreter to tell me what you said. The Russian interpreter. That is correct. Randall is in Arkansas. We begin the show with our first caller. Hello, Randall. That was a pre game show right there. Hello, Randall. Yellow Paul's great day to be a razorback. Hey, Paul. I hate that for James. He feels so bad. I just really hate that. I hate to follow him, but it's a good thing I call because I think he needs me today. I have called to exercise the demon out of the studio. I'm going to remove that demon and maybe all these calls will go a better direction after that, Paul. Yeah, and for those who don't know what we're talking about here, there is a caller who shall remain nameless whose name begins with the first letter of the previous caller if you're doing wordle at home. And he said there's an evil spirit that has infiltrated our show. Yeah, isn't that something? Well, I'm going to remove it, Paul. I have experience in doing that, but evil spirit exterminator. Well, I can do that, Paul. I've got my holy water. I actually have a vampire killing kit. Thanks to the mallet. No, I really do, but anyway. But hey, Paul, before I remove that demon, which it sounds like that's very important. Paul, you have a loyal viewer out there. I mean, a really good guy. He's 16 go into surgery and buddy of mine too. And if you could just maybe wish be C flash, get well. I'm sure it might be his date. So Randall, you said his name is B C flash. Yeah, that's my buddy. He's got a Louisiana somewhere. I don't know where right now. He drinks a lot, so we don't know. Well, BC we certainly, we don't know what you're going in for, but we certainly hope it works. I hope it's nothing serious. Well, he said it wasn't too bad, but he's going to be laid up for a while. Okay. So don't tell me that you're telling me that you're taking a couple of BC powders didn't do it. For BC. That's a good one, Paul. How do you do that? I don't know. So obvious I was almost afraid to do it. I just missed it. I just make it. And Paul, real quick. You remember Johnny from yesterday, Paul? Yes, I do. From Georgia. Oh man, what in the world is going on there, Johnny? Hey, buddy. First of all, all the engraved jokes. They're pointed at Arkansas. I don't know what you're doing trying to take them to Alabama, but cut it out. In order to tell, we call that rolling your own. Hey, Johnny, there is no special number. That's a myth. I get it first call. The reason you don't is when you call and that Georgia area code comes up, they think it's Daryl. So that call shoots all the way. I agree. If there was a special number then we would have made sure that the last caller didn't have it..

"Oh you need left the well. Here's garret crochet. Who's fastball velocity is down like four miles an hour compared to last year. And he's still sitting ninety seven right like that's pretty nuts. This is one of the better back of a bullpen. That i've ever seen just in terms of stuff and then you've got your ground ball guy like i thought it was a stroke of genius. You've probably sucks to take out of the game after he's thrown two innings but like air. Boone bringing in klay homes freight to get a key ground ball with that that he has so aaron. Bummer is just the white sox version of that right. And i think that's a big deal like situationally. You want a guy who's gonna be able to roll one and get you out of the inning pretty quickly like they're going to be spots where you're relying on tony larussa to manage the bullpen correctly. But it's foolproof because everyone in the bullpen is not so. That's what i think. The i picked the white sox go to the world series and the strength of the bullpen. Is the biggest reason why we were very high on the white sox as a staff. We did our our staff playoff predictions. We were quite high on them. I think that i was surprised now because they are too good team. Just because there are so many good teams in this field. And because i think the the razor just attempting pick in any moment like this as is houston. I don't say that to knock boston. i think. Just in general had new york advancing over them. But i was. I was quite surprised by how Well regarded. they are. But i think that when you break it down the way that you did it makes a good deal of sense. I want to talk about lou. Bob a bit more but before do that. I want to talk about kyle tucker because this is an odd question to put to you. Because i think that i don't wanna make it sound like you under rated kyle tucker as a prospect. Because when he graduated he was. I think ranked tenth overall for us. He was second on the astros. He was a sixty future value. I think when you look at his prospect tr which you know one folks go to check out the site is meant to sort of encapsulate thought around him as a prospect at the time of graduation so that people have something to reference when they're looking back on how we conceived guys as they were moving moving through the ranks. You said that he's that his major league debut did not go well which is true but most still think there's an above average everyday player in their one with a shot at stardom. If it all clicks so. I don't want to say that you underrated him. But i do think that is the clicking version for for kyle tucker in all likelihood because he hit you know. He slashed to ninety four three fifty. Nine five fifty seven so nice to be able to do fall season stats now. It's really great. He had a one forty seven. Wrc plus he hit thirty home runs like this is him sort of evolving into what i imagine folks that was the best possible version of him and that there might still be some upside here. Yeah i don't know if there's any more upside but this is this. Is the high end outcome for for kyle tucker And it's a slap sixty future value on basically means that during their six or seven years of pre free agency play that i expect him to average three annual war which is like an all star level production. He put a five four this year. One and a half last year in the shortened season which pro rates to a little over three and a half. Now which is still in that sixty future value bucket and in twenty nineteen. He was hurt. Most of the time and during that season was the only twenty games but he was good for those so he's basically tracking as a sixty rape if he puts a another whatever. It is three five win years. He'll have outpaced that by a little bit. He's still just barely over one year of service because of all the time that he spent injured. I guess it will be two years now with this year in tokyo lashio most of that four year. So yeah like he's awesome. It was funny when he was an amateur prospect at plant high school in florida. He you know he's. He's not traditional. Looking kind of looks like kebob crane tells look like jacob crane. He's like the animated Holloway grand his swing. The swing is like it. Looks like ted. Williams is swing and other people were. Like noah. swing is weird. What are you talking about. And ultimately like he did nothing but hit his entire life. The astros who are for at that time especially under jacqueline. We're like a pretty shrewd conservative like drafting organization. This is the pick that they got. Maybe won't forget if it was the bregman picker this pick that they got for not signing brady ache in when he was bracketed medical so they gotta talk bregman in the same draft they nailed that and so yeah like he's just wire-to-wire. There were times when catherine was in the fall league year and he sucked and he didn't seem like he gave and scott's here which is like what's with this guy like he's playing against some of the best prospects in baseball and he's just sort of like putting forth no effort that's just like kyle tucker's nature if he's a low energy dude or whatever like yeah fine he rakes. So he's yeah he's an ex employer. I'll still take the the sixty Bank it at this point still. I just think this and being correct. I'm sure that the statistical models like i think three years zips At this point has him being worth just south of four war each of the next three years and if he does that then hill have been on the sixty sixty five borderline basically like it takes to be a seventy jadu five annual war. that's where the standard deviation that's where the gap is so he's tracking somewhere between the sixteen seventy right now. I don't throw sixty-five's around a lot. Because i just tried to pick a buck this guy's in but that's where this guy's existing right now. We should put him among the top prospect on any given year on a top one. Hundred is a seventy basically like a kunia and not in otani like we're seventies and you know to be sixty five right below that that's pretty special and that's basically sorry to track as now who the other guy you mentioned was Lewis robert. I still think i still think. There's gonna be some comeuppance four lewis robert keyser god-like talent like no doubt he's also one of the more aggressive hitters in all of baseball and those guys tend to have a regression at some point they tend to get solved..

"And if you're talking about moving him up you're basically talking about moving your don down right or or moving michael. Brantley out of the two hole When he's back. So i'm good with it right now. Maybe in this special. Maybe maybe maybe this is the time to take a look when when brantley on the deal for a couple of days. Do you throw kyle tucker into that tool For the next week or so and just see how it. But no i'm gonna sit and also but he's great. He's he's incredible. He's been mvp caliber player for the last. You know hundred games basically But he's still a young player and it's still beneficial for young players to hit a little bit further down in the lineup there. There's a little bit less pressure. You get some better pitches. They hit the guy sitting in front of him. I like him there to hit with runners on base. So i'm good with the way. It is even though he has more than earned his right to be a quote unquote middle of the order gas. Should we be concerned about michael brantley and sweeteners. This kind of just. Let's let's let it rest. It is what it isn't. He's going to be fine. Yeah no no concerns. I think i think number one. It's time of year right. You just wanna knock out any aches and pains you know moving into the last couple of weeks but also it's where they're at. They're they're playing the rangers there on that turf. Last time he played on that turf. He didn't come out of it too. Well so i. I don't care anymore. Any reason to to push their if you've already feeling storewide risk You know prolonging with a couple of games on turf and look if if they don't have enough offensive firepower to beat this rangers team without Without michael brantley then then there's bigger issues than just in being in the lineup payment unless the last minute or so two minutes. Brian bogus savak. Who's the most improved player on the team pitcher hitter. I don't care any of them who.

"And get it taken care of James click astra's gm here on seven ninety james without a and his struggles in the month. There's main obviously pretty well documented. But he's such a great player in a great postseason player with the guy like that. Do you trust that. He'll work his way out of his slump for the month. Or is it something that you guys discuss. Just kind of. Stay out of the way and let the veteran take care of his business Jose altuve has forgotten more about hitting than i know. So personally i stay out of the way on that one The guy has a track record That's you know impeccable. So i don't want to overreact to it at the same time you know when you see one of you guys. Struggling one of your key is You know not getting the results on the field that that he would like to get. You always wondering is. There's nothing i can do. Is there something i can do to help out. And so you know we'll always keep those conversations with him and with every player we keep an eye on everybody's performance and making sure that they have everything they need and that they're locked in but You know when it comes to hitting We're gonna trust to figure it out with With his teammates coaches you obviously has a system where He can get himself right and when he's right. He's he's pretty impressive. Kyle tucker and this has been on my mind. It's i may not even be relevant. But i i'd like to know just because you're an expert at this and watching him. I think he's so good. I do his command of the plate and he's going the other way and i know you know that it's a captain obvious statement but if you were evaluating him and you hadn't seen much and the only thing you'd seen as the way you've watched him swing the bat and play defense this year. Well how would you evaluate and what what would you. If you're a right in the scouting report how would you write it up about kyle. Tucker right now what you've seen I think you have to talk about the potential for a five to guy. Honestly i mean we're talking about here. We talk about hit for power. We talked about running tro field. These are all parts of his game. We've seen him still basis. We can Throw guys out in the field him. I think he's well above average in right field. They obviously was final goals last year. I mean you know the he does everything that you want a baseball player to do And the ability honestly to stay in their against lefties hit lefties just as well as writings Or at least not. Be one of those guys. Who's who team can bring in a killer And get them out. I mean the fact that he and alvarez to have the ability to hang in there against both sides really adds a a real element and You know something that that might get glossed over a little bit. But that would be. If i was out there scouting probably be part of my report is You know there's some lefties where something about their bad path..

"Think about it for second continuing anybody kind of mine. I'll talk about both from the left side bolt that young both with the capabilities of the writing hitters. That's what i'm saying on the other side. Not the left to right. Doesn't matter but i'm just saying it's a great thing to have that side of the plate and the command both of them having kyle tucker to me. They're both younger than twenty five and another reason. What's going to help him is he. Plays the field every day. Yeah that's a good thing so If you were a fence sitting. On kyle tucker. You shouldn't be now and this year out of answered questions about just. What kind of understand why he was that type of prospect and now that he's getting at bats guy's phenomenal he really is and he's a fun watch and just a by the way hit six and seven most of the time in six six or seven this year. "I've gotten a lot. i mean. Probably twenty five responses about chili dogs in louisville twenty of them said the same place scotland. Now this say dairy del okay. Yeah i saw that. Come up. That i don't know i've never been there between people say it. That's gotta be pretty shelby street. Like i'm totally. I'm eating a chili dog for. That's just the way it is shelby street downtown. Think so it looks like it's next to close to manual high school. That's not downtown and next to shelby park. There you go. I think i gotta go there there. You get your figured out. Have one and give us a report tomorrow lunch or dinner. We'll see for chili. Dogs just sounds good just thinking about it yet. does five seven one. Eighty one person writes matt. I'd like to know if you think we're going to get a mass mandate again and if you think we should i have mixed emotions may and i like i understand why people want to do it. I don't think it's going to happen for this reason. I just don't think the citizens it ultimately when you're a government you can't do things the citizens hate and i just don't think people want to do it. You know i mean it's it's plus put it like this the people who are not getting vaccinated. They're the people who are against mask so they're not gonna like it and people like us who got vaccinated like. Why do we have to wear masks. Because these googlers won't get vaccinated right. So i don't know who's like what are you gonna do. I mean the whole reason. I was excited to get vaccinated so didn't have to wear masks. You and me both brother. But i think it's going to be another mask mandate It's going in that direction. And i hate it but i don't know i think it's tough i. I don't think people want it. And so i think that's gonna be hard but we'll see. I don't know the answer that question. If it's bad into some remember last year in summers when things were good bad in the summer makes me worried about the winner fall and winter. But we'll see so. I have mixed emotions. You know if they make it. I'll put it on. But i'd rather they not so i can tell you you know if you haven't gotten the shot that you have to wear but then how do you different when you can't. Yeah and everybody just say they did then. Then what's the point you know the end of the day. You can't make people do the right thing now. We'll get the barking for the second hour. That's a perfect jump. In as the dog vaccinated ryan no. Did you decide to give the dog come in. yeah okay. The thing that concerns me. I think is happening is the people that have have the vaccination are now getting the disease you know but they say that what scares me too but they say that if you have the facts if you've been vaccinated and you get it you'll be okay like i saw something like ninety nine point. Five percent of the people in kentucky that are in the hospital with kovin were unvaccinated right. That's right yeah. So that's positive. Isn't it ryan that definitely positive. It just seems. Like i hear more and more such and such got it and they had the vaccine. The vaccine does not keep him from getting it. it keeps you from the symptoms. Listen i mean like vaccines don't necessarily a radical. They stop it from manifesting itself negatively when i'll really freak out when people who've had it once get it the second time but that's happened to. That's been happening. It's been happening. That happens a lot of like well. But that's why that's why that's why that's the argument for getting the vaccine because it says look if you get it. It's not going to do things to you. That's the argument. You can still survive even if you get it if you've been vaccinated. That's yes that's what they say. I mean again on some level. What amazes me is how confident everyone is about something we've never dealt with before you know. Yeah i mean on some of this like part of what is scary to me. About the whole thing is it's unknown like people get really angry at like fao ci and folks who got things wrong at the beginning. I'm not shocked. We didn't i mean we all got it wrong. Who got it right. Who's who is it. That everything they said about covert was right anyone. Donald trump said it would go away in a couple of weeks. Yeah i mean like no one was right so like why get angry. People do the best they can. But something we've never ever dealt with before people really do i. I will say this. Especially about the governor's. I think these governors did the best. They can now that a lot of them got stuff wrong but like they did the best they can man. You're trying to keep people alive. Yeah the dude in florida. I don't agree with him on a lot of stuff. But i think he's doing the every investigate. Nobody wants people that die. Do they know so. I wish we gave people break. But we don't and with that. Let's move to football ryan right. After this was two days ago. I was on the show. And i said when i was talking about the fact that will lettuce was the quarterback. Nobody ever told me i was wrong. Remember me saying that though. Yeah right after the show. Yesterday a couple of people told me i was wrong. Not wrong but they basically said it's still a battle and what was said was that joey gatewood over the course of the last few weeks especially the last couple of weeks. He's been in florida for some of that couple of weeks. But that they believe he has improved substantially and that. It's going to be a battle. Now what does that mean. Well i think it could mean a couple of things. I think it could mean that where i still think. We'll let us is the likely starter ryan. I'd put it at eighty five. Maybe it should be at seventy five right. Yeah the other thing it could mean is people don't want joey gatewood thinking it's over and maybe package bag and leave. Yeah so i mean what it means is whatever i don't know but i do find it interesting that the idea that there's like this pushback of the idea that the job is over. Here's what my guess. Okay i i like kyle tucker because tucker tweeted something about well. That's i over. The days of reporters like sniping back and forth the report. They only report on snipe. Was michael bennett. 'cause it's fun reporter. Well whatever you. I'm over that. I like how count i used to fight all the time. We don't now. But kyle doesn't know who i talked to her. Know anything about it so when he comments that annoys me a little bit. Same with some of the other folks. I know who i spoke with. They know what's going on. I'll leave it at that but ryan. I do think it's interesting that there is there was no problem saying lettuce was the guy a few weeks ago and now they want folks to know gate woods in it too and i just think that's interesting right. What you make of that is up to you. I think if you take it for what. It's worth that. If joey gatewood is doing what needs to be done to not just the stories hands up. Well he's he's the winner like he's competing still trying to win the job still trying to get better. That's nothing but positive quarterback room. I agree college.

"Make that hurt a little bit. It's gonna take Whitmore with a runner on first into outs to get somebody around unless it's one swing that Goes over the fence. You're talking about a guy and miles Straw. No homers on the year and a 5 91 0 P s. So not likely. You slug here and drive in Jones from first. Breaking ball from Rodriguez Miss. Down and industry all ball one. He did that strange double play to end. The bottom of the second, where still a run scored. As he granted it to second he was out number two of the inning. And then the runner let misty as caught up in a run down and allowed Kyle Tucker to score from third with the second run of the bottom of the second before the final out, was recorded. As a called strike two. Strong evens the count one on one. Was very UNP irate like to double play. Bitch inside the straw fastball from Rodriguez, two and one. That may be one of the more bizarre place you've ever seen in their cups. Pirates came this way. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Really strange the other day with the Astros had the infield pulled in and ball hit to all to bay and He didn't come home. That was that was pretty strange as well. 21 right in there. A fastball from Rodriguez called Strike two into one straw. Some interesting choices defensively this week in baseball. Taylor Jones, the runner at first with two down Eduardo Rodriguez. Pitch, swinging a foul back out of play from straw, his bullpen activity..

"Well, I don't know. I'm all fucked. I figure it out. Yep. You might do it by one. Yeah, as long as you tell me about region because like you said Windows like I don't know how to dispel window. So just yell at Region while we're here. We'll make it work Yeah scratch that we're going to do it by region know if I can hear back. Okay. All right. So the first thing here we want to talk about is Isaiah Jackson declaring for the draft. So I say Jackson has decided to declare for the draft but test the waters first and over at the athletic. Kyle Tucker said he wants to be a lottery pick. I believe he tweeted that Goodman his said he has not closed or regarding returning to college. I'm intrigued by this like is one of those weird situations where when you talk to people outside of Kentucky throughout the year. They were like, oh, yeah, I'm sure Isaiah is going to go but then when you talk to people inside of Kentucky, it was more that they were not convinced that that was the case so that this kind of falls into wage Them not being convinced that this is not the case. I will be very intrigued to see what Isaiah Jackson does like this was a I don't want to say it's like a full-on curve ball. There was a bit of surprise wasn't it? I thought it was like a changeup. I think yeah because we've we've talked about it and he started off. Well, we kind of threw him in the mock really early on and then kind of returned back to the middle school. I played sixteen minutes against Notre Dame paid fifteen minutes against North Carolina. This is back in December and then he popped back up toward the end of the year six of his last seven games were in double figures. He looked I mean, he's always athletic but I'm talking more shots running the floor a little bit more there's different mock drafts that have them in that like 20 range. So I wasn't surprised that he declared and said to test the waters. I don't know if I'd say, he's a lottery walk. That would be a little bit bold for me for my taste, but it'd be hard pressed to say he's going to get out of the twenties. I don't think I'm going crazy. There be my only hesitation with him is dead. He was over to from 3 and positionally I mean, where do you put him the just athletic for that runs around and defense multiple spots of these a five can eat? Oh, no. Yes. Suck drive has to be a 5/3 then then if we're going to stretch the form be fine, then he he's got his shoot some trees and be able to hit some shots and we just seen enough of that yet. Well, here's the thing though. Like if he's for like he has to shoot, he's five you can at least run. It was like a rim Runner right? I mean if he's for then you when he really has to shoot and that gets a bit concerning to me..
