That was after Goldman Sachs and Bank of America both delivered results above forecast. If there is a caveat here, it's the fact that Goldman also warned that it would slow hiring and it may even call some underperforming staff, but the big news came later in the day with our story from Bloomberg's Mark gurman on apple's slowing hiring and spending for some teams next year. We are told this decision stems from a move to be a little more careful during these uncertain times, but it really underscored this concern about weak economic growth. It sent Apple shares down about 2% and the equity market was in broad retreat with the S&P and the NASDAQ comp each down today by about 8 tenths of 1%. We had the Dow weaker by about 7 tenths of 1%. And then if you look at the US Treasury curve, even though we're talking about weaker growth, the inflation story remains intact and the feds resolved to fight it, and that was one of the reasons that rates across the curve were higher today, we remain inverted in that two to ten year segment to your treasury at three 17 at ten year at two 98 as we get set for trading in Asia. We're looking at a weaker dollar, by the way, and again that's trading one 38 20, Chicago Nike futures now about a 130 points or so above where we were. Let me get this right. Friday in the cash market in Japan because there was a market. A holiday yesterday in Japan. Crude oil and other big story with WTI jumping 5% we finished above one O two were trading right at one O two here in the electronic sessions. The Saudis have given no sign of immediate production increases following the president's visit to the kingdom, and we also heard today from Iraq's oil minister, he sees oil trading above a hundred for the remainder of the year. "Put the best umpires at the Yankees Blue Jays game or the Red Sox game, you know? So why not? Why should the best umpires we do in the most important games? And you know what? Give because they now have these systems where they can judge strike zones in the minor leagues. If you have an umpire who say, let's say he's the number three umpire in the group. He's the guy who is good at first base. Maybe you give him the option. Look, if you'd rather go down to work in the minor leagues to give yourself a chance to get better at balls and strikes and to move in the upper Echelon in terms of those ratings, you can do that. Or, you know, we offer you here. But work with them in a way that just as they do with pictures. As I say, every team does this with their players, Major League Baseball should do it with the umpires. Yeah, and I will say this, in my opinion, umpiring has improved drastically in the last 20 years. And it's because they do. We can track every system. The empires get their reports. They know what calls they're missing. So in general, they are much, much better than they used to be, but they're still work to be done. Yeah, I had a conversation with Kyle schwarber recently and we were talking about operating and he said, you know what? There are a lot of guys who are really good at balls and strikes. Is anything going to happen when a home plate umpire has a game that was that rough and the metrics showed that he missed a lot of calls last night. But here's the frustrating part is that there doesn't seem to be any ramifications when you get a game like that from an umpire. Yeah, it's pretty amazing that that was sort of the universal consensus is like, well this sucks and it's probably gonna happen again and nothing will come of this because that's the way Major League Baseball operates. And when you look at the NFL or the NBA, he would be taken off he'd be suspended or he would be demoted in sort of their referee rankings. There are repercussions for blowing calls in other leagues and it's kind of amazing that for baseball they have not adopted that system yet. No, for years, it's funny when you hear people complain about Joe west and things that happen on the field. My response was, well, no one ever does anything about it. And that's what's going to happen here in this case. No question about it. All right, twins, White Sox, on Sunday, went to extra innings. The White Sox had a lead, Byron buxton at the plate. That's funny is I'm not not a Chris Paul guy like I've never understood. I've never understood why. I guess I understand it where your fans With just about anybody who's demonstrative like and in your way in the NBA playoffs. NBA Twitter is such a part of this is people get so much vitriol for the NBA stars more than baseball more than football. Maybe it's because you know what they look like. If it's because they're on Twitter more, they're more public faces. I'm not sure what it is, but people really do not like Chris Paul and I've been saying for years. So I respect his game a ton, But he's not a guy who all when it's all said and done. I don't think I'll be like man. Remember Chris Paul remember seeing him play? I just don't have that sort of romance about him, but I think it's kind of cool that he's getting an opportunity to play for an NBA title.
