"An athlete. But because now Peyton Manning had walked into a locker room that wasn't one in 15. Yes. They had won a playoff game. He is taking over a team that had some sense of what winning was like and how to shift energy and how to follow somebody who's a leader. Tim Tebow is, he's a leader. And he does it his own way. So if you just had like Kyle Orton back, no offense to Kyle Orton. Or the Kyle Orton's of the world. By the way, I think it's amazing athletes and quarterbacks. You have to say that before you denigrate him. Yeah, I know, I know. By the way, I always said of any professional athlete and whenever anybody like me like me talks about professional athletes. They're all unbelievable between the pipes. And I felt that I felt what it feels like to win championships and do the whole and have to fight through things on small scales, but it's all relative in certain ways. And if you're aware of what's going on, then you can translate it to all other aspects of your life. And the Kyle Orton's and the J cutlers and all those people of the world are unbelievable, incredible athletes that everybody should wish that they want to be. But in order to be great in the NHL, if you want to be Connor McDavid or Peyton Manning or Russell Wilson or you have to be able to be something special in that category. That's a different thing. And we love to talk about it and we're here because it's fun to talk about. I hear you, you know. I got to tell you. Yeah. I could poke a hole or two in your theory. I'd love to. But you're kind enough to, look, Elway watched all of that happen. Right. And I think Elway was thrilled. He was on the sideline when Demaryius Thomas ran 75 yards for that touchdown. And he couldn't believe that they were now right to go to New England and get their asses handed to him. But deep down, that entire time he knew Tebow was not sustainable. For sure. And but Manning might not have gone to Denver, had he not thought that they were ready to take another step. Right. And the fact that the next step was a divisional playoff game to win. Definitely might have made it more attractive to the right man. And so what I'd say to you in following this line of questioning is with another quarterback that was like Kyle Orton or Jay Cutler or pick up quarterback of that time that was like Baker Mayfield's kind of in that category right now or like can you get over the hump? You know, these are unbelievably so athletic. Would he have gotten them to that place or did you need Tim Tebow? Tebow time, like shirts and things and bringing the Broncos back to it. It was incredible. It was incredible. So I guess the last thing for you then is what's more believable as a football miracle Tebow time or your mom and wildcats. As a football miracle. Yes, a football miracle. Wildcats.

"All of them. Tim Tebow literally only had magic factor. You didn't have anything else, but his will to win was really contagious, obviously. And I know that feeling of someone who you might be laughing at in the locker room. Being like this guy's insane. But we're winning. And he's going to will us to win, and that energy, no matter how maybe annoying sometimes it is, it's the positivity of it is infectious. So they're going, you know, they were like one in four or whatever with Kyle Orton and somebody else was there. Nobody who else, you know, they could have brought any mediocre quarterback in there. They would have done the same exact thing. They were literally down to no other options. No other option going to Tim Tebow based on everything that happened and I have been Wyatt Russell in that stadium when Tebow was starting and playing. And he was terrible for the three quarters. It was against the jets on a Thursday Night Football game. Terrible. Terrible against the jets. Like it looked like the ball was floating 5 feet over the head of demarius Thomas May he rest in peace. Fluttering. As if Tebow threw the ball with his feet. Right. As opposed to his hands. I have seen that. And then 6 minutes to go. In the game, Tim Tebow time, hand to football gods was absolutely real. I saw it in my own with my own two eyes. However, I need you to now make the connective tissue here. The turn. That makes this a hot take that without him, there would have been no championship. So because you make the playoffs that year, which I think is attributed to the energy that Tim Tebow broke out. You as a football organization and a team feel like and you win a playoff game. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they won. In the first and the first game, the new overtime rules where if you score a touchdown, it's done. And then there was one snap and done. Right. Yes, correct. So I remember so well, because I was like, oh my God, how did it happen? It's unbelievable. So when you get that as a player, you feel like we can really win. We won with that guy. Yes. But you need somebody who's going to bring the energy of that guy as a human being, but also be able to deliver.

"This is the Greg godard patriots podcast with Nick cabins. Well, that was fun. Of course, now we talk about the New England Patriots, the one seed in the AFC as they head to their biweek after beating buffalo on Monday night. A lot of thoughts on this game. But first, I want to tell you the Greg bedard patriots podcast with Nick cattles has brought to you by a bet online, not AG, the fastest and easiest way to bet all your favorite sports. Greg, let's start here. In the preview, you talked about how the bills were constructed to beat the Patriots except for four swing spots. So let's circle back to that. And let's break down each of those swing spots and see how buffalo did. We begin with the crying whining, Sean McDermott. Your thoughts on McDermott, how he handled the game and I'm sure you have thoughts on how he handled the postgame as well. Yeah, I thought that it was a TKO for Bill Belichick in this realm. And this was the type of game and look. When we didn't talk about it at the time, but I hope everybody understands that I said that the bills outside of these four spots were perfectly constructed to beat the Patriots under normal weather conditions. Not in tropical storms actually was worse than I've covered games in tropical storms. That game, and I actually got to go back and look at it. That game reminded me, the only other comparable game that I've covered. And of course, I started covering the Patriots in 2010, was 2007, Brett Favre's final season in Green Bay. They went to Chicago and that wind was worse outside the stadium going into soldier field than it was. And it was sunny, and it was cold and I remember Brett Favre after the game, you know, Bret Favre, Iron Man, all weather hero saying, I'm not gonna lie. It was cold as hell. And I gotta go back and look at the stats because I remember I was so mad at Mike McCarthy that day because he just kept like shotgun spread. He was throwing the ball in that weather. And I think they ended up losing to Kyle Orton in the bears that game. The year that they went to the NFC championship game and it just shows you how coaching matters. And it mattered huge on Monday night that Bill Belichick knew before anything even started exactly what kind of game it was going to be, how he was going to have.

"You know at some point you just have to have to look at how unstable they've been take the banning years away you gotta go back to jay cutler to find some stability kyle orton. Tim tebow then peyton. That was great. He played all sixteen games three years in a row. that was stability. It's tough to do since then. This team has been going for short term fixes. You tried to draft paxton late in the first round and they got him. They were hoping he'd be the guy didn't work out so then they started going after free agents brought brock osweiler. Back case keenum. Joe flacco as some point. I just wanna see something stick and go with that and this team just for whatever reason they just want to keep the same setup man. What's the definition of insanity doing something over and over and over and over again. Expecting a different result. One season one year is your era is going to determine whether drew locks the guy or not. That's it you used last season to do it even though he had five games for the year before that where he was pretty good. Here's here's vic fangio talking about. How he came to the decision there wasn't a lot of separation they both guys had good camps. They both played. Well both had their down. Moments both had their good moments thought it was good overall for both of them We just made this decision. We think it's for the best for the team right now. moving forward. But we have two good quarterbacks to quarterbacks that we can win with and unfortunately can't play with two. That's true that's true. I like that. He said hey didn't really feel like anybody lost it but i think this is an obvious decision. You got a twenty eight year old and a twenty four year old a guy. It's been nine years a guy that's approaching his third year in their fifty fifty. Help me make sense of this. Somebody out there helping me. Make sense of this. Brady teddy's brent better. The head. coach is not saying that he would say it. If it was true. Ted he was just a little bit better than the situation. He said it truly was fifty. Fifty guys help me understand. I think this should be the maximum of anybody of any coach. If i got a young guy versus a guy that's been the league for a while and it's actually kind of more of a backup guy but they're fifty fifty. I'm going with the younger guy a because while we drafted him two years ago in the second round hoping he would be the guy. It hasn't been that long ago and be. He might workout and beat. The franchise quarterback is not going to be. I mean if he lights the world on fire. And i'm talking twenty seven touchdowns seven interceptions four thousand yards whatever. Then maybe you're resigning the sky to a long term deal to a two three year deal i mean. Are you betting on that..

"A little bit about the games. Interesting story. Don't If you guys saw this Nashville lawyer I really I read the story and I'm like this. This can't be true. But this is true. His name is Winston Be sitting Get his license suspended by the Tennessee Supreme Court. After he posted advice on Facebook. On how to get away with murder. Sitton reportedly responded to a post shared by a woman on Facebook. This is like three or four years ago in which she sought advice on how to handle the possible abuse or harassment by her ex partner. So sitting On the Facebook post, encourages the woman to quote, lure the man into her home and shoot him. But claimed the man broke into the home with the intention to harm her. He says in the Facebook post quote. Even with the news stand your ground law that the castle doctrine is a far safer basis for use of deadly force. That's according to an opinion filed by the Tennessee Supreme Court. The lawyer then advised the woman that she should delete her Facebook post that she was serious about going through with the incident. Quote As a lawyer. I advise you to keep mum about this. If you're remotely serious, your defense is that you're afraid for your life, Revenge or premeditation of any sort will be used against you at trial. The woman did delete the post, but her ex Saw it and Screenshots of it turned it over to the authorities. And then sitting went in front of the panel of his peers and was unapologetic for it. So he was suspended for a while, but the Tennessee Supreme Court said no, no, no, That is not enough. You will lose your license. Who does that? I know somebody crazy. I was smart enough to pass the bar. I don't know that. I think this has to be this can't be true. It is true. Crazy people, Rick, there are no They're smart. They're smart. Dump your smart dump. That's it. That's a good way to put it. There are smart, dumb people. No. Jeez, that's crazy. Yeah, and he's one of them. Texture. 75 Rick, who in the NFL has a bubbly personality? Right off the top of my head, I'd say drew lock And he gets criticized for it. Tim Tebow was another one. Tim Tebow would have very bubbly person also got criticized for it. Maybe a bubbly personality is not the way to go in the army. Kyle Orton Joe Flacco Case Keenum me lately seriously for the last. I don't know, however many seven or eight years. With the exception of I think Brock Osweiler had Brockett really bubbly personality, Uh, Trevor Simeon at a bubbly personality, But if you put seriously this is this is not a personal shot him. I mean, these guys are fine. They don't have to be bubbly around me. But between Kyle Orton But, um Joe Flacco. And case Keenum. There's very little bubbly and those personalities, man. You know what I'd like to Carl Orton? No, I didn't dislike any of those guys. Hey, I have I've had long conversations with colonies. Very interesting. What time of day In the locker room. After the game, not after the game. Like during the practice, we thought, you know, he's very big in tow wine, So we got into conversations about wine a lot. Maybe I should have gone that route. I told you this Dave once and you were surprised that that whole season case Keenum was the quarterback here. You never talk. Never. Not only did he never say a word to me, he never even acknowledged I was standing in front of Joe Flacco acknowledge you? No, no, no. But that was only four games. Kingdom went a whole season there. I'm the first guy in the locker. I'm just saying they wouldn't have treated Larry King that way. Make way. Larry in the suspenders. Lucky T even I'm in like he was a backup, right? And then all of a sudden I got a chance. One I'm the first one in the locker room. Dave interviews the quarterback. I stand there and say, Hey, good game case, They will be with you in a second. He won't even won't even respond to that. Nothing. He won't even look at me. You shouldn't let him have it. I mean right there, And so I'm just standing there with a microphone the very last game. Game. 16. He said, Thanks, right? No. Oh, never acknowledged. But he Yeah, I have a funny funny because he's like so, Marius, you said no so fast. You need to get the sentence out of your mouth when I was a total pro. You know, Thank you. You know this and that, you know, whatever. He would never acknowledged me the last game of the year. He acknowledged me. By leaning on me to cut the tape off his ankle. You call that an acknowledged? Yes. A necessity because I was thinking, what am I anymore? I thought you were a footstool. My invisible to this guy like I like I don't even exist to him. But I existed as it someplace he could. He could balance himself to cut his take heard one. This. This may have sort of set the stage. Because the mikes were alive in the locker room. Even one word break on. I did hear Rick and I think this case Keenum might have been Flaco not was keen for sure. Rick walked up and said Hi, Mr Kingdom. Nice game. E. I don't know if you just looked at him. Like what do you calling me, Mr Keane? Um, I don't know. Let me put him there. Yes, Mr. You know, Mr Kingdom E. Just think that's so rude Not to acknowledge somebody. I mean, like, Come on. It was weird guys. Some guys were really good. You know, in the locker room. Some guys aren't I mean, I did. I did. Rix job for seven years started in 1996 6 years. Most guys are okay. Well, he had that one guy. That one. Yeah, the one guy that you talk about, but not by name. No. I never named him but it have the one guy. That had thought I'd said something badly about him on the TV broadcast, which I hadn't It was my partner, Roz a polo and really wasn't bad. But he took exception to it s so he's sort of held that against me and so and I was much younger than And I'm thinking do that. I've been locked rooms before. So you know he knew that the writer punk may I don't? I don't know. And I don't care. But I mean, really At what? At one point I thought Okay? Well, then, because I know you can't want me. So what are we gonna do? How we gonna do this? You know, you just You just kind of get to that point, but but it's but you know, some guys are just better. Some guys understand that we the media have jobs to do and accept that and they're great about I mean, You know, but other guys not so much. It's not like like a kingdom was being mean. It's just like I didn't exist to him. Yeah, but that's rude. And flaco was the same way. But it was only four games. Did you do the Mr Flacco Think I said, Hey, Mr Flores to Flag house, Mrs Flacco today. You know that type of thing is you? Did you ask him how many kids he had? Um, no, No. You talked about how great his beard was, like. Well, you did You did you do that with, and I think he liked that. That was that was quite honestly. I was there with you. The look he gave you He did not like that. I think that training camp wasn't that you're some sort of crazy. Yeah, And I think you did this case something during training camp, So he knew you were you said good, you know? Case we take this room. I thought you were taller on then it was downhill from there, then the beach. So maybe that was it. Yeah, but I got to say most of the guys. We're cool. Yeah, they're almost all of them are professional. Yep. And cool it in a particular broadcast. Weather was really cool. So was Trevor. Simeon. Those guys were great. They were They acknowledge you. They talk to you. They talked to you. You know when you see him in the hotel But those two guys never said a word. For a whole season, and I doubt they will. I think it's I think that ship has sailed on. Your communication with either case, Keenum or Joe fly. I just feel like it's over or you interviewed him every week. And they were okay. I mean, it was sort of like, you know, if they give the typical answers, they just didn't know. I mean, case was okay cases. Okay, Joe? I mean, Joe was okay too. I don't think either one of them necessarily liked it. And Wanted to.

"Said. It would be an enormous NFL day on the program, and it is way had Titans linebacker over Shawn Evans in our one We had Packers tight end Robert Tanyon in our one We will have Gabriel Davis of the Bills an hour three. Right now. We're joined by the host on the NFL Red Zone Channel. You can follow him on Twitter at Scott Hanson. He played his college ball. It's Syracuse. This Sunday marks the 2/100 edition of NFL Red Zone, which launched way back on September. 13th 2009. Scott Hanson is my guest. Scott. Great to have you back. How are you? Good to be with you, Jim still rolling after all these years and still rolling through 2020. As long as we got games were showing touchdown, man. That's the truth, right? Not only do we still have games, but we have games on Wednesday. So before I get into Sunday and everything this weekend means to you in the Red Zone Channel. What did you make of Wednesday afternoon Football. Scott Well, I mean, the game itself left a lot to be desired. We obviously all know about the you know the lack of personnel really on both sides. But you know what? I like Mike Tomlin my common don't make any excuses either. Does John Harbaugh? They're like, Hey, we're gonna play when they tell us we're gonna play. And you could say it's unfair and maybe it is to a certain degree. Maybe there's a grape in Denver to be ad because they had to play their game with the quarterbacks and all this, but it's pretty obvious. So the NFL universe that the league is looking at the teams and saying guys If you got 11 of them. And they're healthy and they tested negative put helmets on them. And there's the football field because we're playing this season. We're playing the games now. I don't think that the NFL is being really Millie and just throwing You know, Safety Tonto, you know to the side the does the testing they've done is extraordinary and extensive. But the league is basically saying, we're not going to cancel the game short of everybody being wiped out by Cove in We are not canceling the game. So get ready. Whatever day it is whatever circumstance it is. Whoever's taking the first snap for you at quarterback is We're playing this game and you know that Z gonna happen. I was thankful to have something to do in the middle of the afternoon. I'm here in Los Angeles. We kicked off a little afternoon right here and I was like I had a buddy over and we were like is great. Hopefully not too much more Wednesday afternoon Football. It was like it was weird. It was awesome. It was weird. I mean, 12 40. Scott was really something Scott Hanson joining us and you and I have talked about your journey to the Red Zone Channel. And now on Sunday, it is the 2/100 edition of NFL Red Zone earlier this week. You re tweeted the opening from week one of the 09 season and the first app. What do you remember about that day? You know, it really is extraordinary. And of course, now that we're getting nostalgic about our 2/100 episode on NFL Red Zone, you go back to that first moment here here in the first three things that I remember when I think about it. One was when I came on the air. Was like Scott, don't screw this up because this is gonna live forever on video because I really did feel that the channel was going to be a galactic success the way that it is. What's not to love right? Every touchdown from every game. No commercials. Seven straight hours of football like I would watch it, Harriet if I was sitting at home, so I figured it would be huge. And when I came on for that first on camera, I was like, Do not flub up anything. Don't If you make a mistake, it's gonna live forever like for the old timers in the audience, Lee Leonard The first ever sports center. Anger back in 1979 coming on for the first ever SportsCenter. All right, when when ESPN does all their anniversaries, they always play that clip and I remember thinking Hansen. They're going to play this clip a decade from now, two decades from now, whatever. And I got through that initial on camera and then the other thing that I remember about that game. It was bred farms Minnesota Vikings debut That was the big hype leading into it. We all remember the saga he put us through every summer whether he was going to play or not play, But that was that was also the day. That Kyle Orton made his Denver Bronco debut and the Broncos and the Bangles played in a just a sloppy Miss Marsh. No offense football game. The score was 7 to 6. With 11 seconds left to go in the fourth quarter and Orton through Just kind of shocked up a pass into double coverage. If you remember the ball got tipped in the air, and Brandon Stokley ran underneath it and ran 87 yards for a touchdown to win the game with With 10 seconds left on the clock. And that was Broncos Bangles That was getting no attention in the National Football League world at that time, but because of NFL red zone bouncing you around to the best parts of every game our audience saw that lies in real time. And we thought, Wow, this is gonna be awesome. If we get moments like this, and that was the first ever and it's still one of the greatest jaw dropping plays on NFL Red Zone. Scott Hanson joining US episode number 200 of NFL Red Zone is coming up this weekend. It's kind of mentioned at the top. You played your college ball. It's Syracuse and you and I have touched on your time there in the past, but I want to bring it up again..

The allina will be number <Speech_Male> one in the country <Speech_Male> by the time we hit <Silence> twenty twenty <SpeakerChange> one <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> a third <Speech_Female> it could be. <Speech_Female> What's going to be under the tree <Speech_Male> christmas <SpeakerChange> for you. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I actually have no idea <Speech_Male> what i'm gonna get for christmas. <Speech_Male> But <Speech_Male> my number. <Speech_Male> My third prediction <Speech_Male> is that the bears <Speech_Male> will only <Speech_Male> win one <Speech_Male> more game <Speech_Male> the rest of the season. <Speech_Male> I don't think that they're gonna <Speech_Male> beat detroit this weekend. <Speech_Male> I think they'll <Speech_Male> be jacksonville <Speech_Male> but the rest of the way. I <Speech_Male> think that it's just going to be <Speech_Male> loss after loss. Hopefully that'll <Speech_Male> get us higher draft <Speech_Male> pick. And maybe we'll <Speech_Male> get one of the top three quarterbacks <Speech_Male> in the draft <Speech_Male> lot of needy teams <Speech_Male> under center <Speech_Male> had it into the draft <Speech_Male> and spring. So <Speech_Male> that's my third prediction. <Speech_Male> Bears will finish six <Speech_Male> and ten. <Speech_Male> Which very <Speech_Male> disappointing. <Speech_Male> Hopefully that will lead to nagy <Speech_Male> being fired pace being <Speech_Male> fired. We'll see a completely <Speech_Male> new offense <Speech_Male> and front office <Speech_Male> and sideline <Speech_Male> for that <Speech_Male> manner. When season <Silence> kicks <SpeakerChange> off next september <Speech_Female> so <Speech_Female> my final thoughts <Speech_Female> have to do with a lesson. <Speech_Female> I learned <Speech_Female> during the lovey smith <Speech_Female> era. That <Speech_Female> was a really really <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> tough <Speech_Female> coach to let <Speech_Female> go because <Speech_Female> he was very <Speech_Female> well loved <Speech_Female> around halas <Speech_Female> hall. He <Speech_Female> was loved <Speech_Female> by the staff <Speech_Female> by the mccaskey <Speech_Female> family. <Speech_Female> By fellow <Speech_Female> coaches definitely <Speech_Female> by players <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> the media. We <Speech_Female> we enjoyed <Speech_Female> lovey. He <Speech_Female> could be tough on us <Speech_Female> but <Speech_Female> at <Speech_Female> the same time <Speech_Female> when <Speech_Female> they <Speech_Female> needed a change. <Speech_Female> Just for <Speech_Female> the sake of change. <Speech_Female> It's <Speech_Female> hard as <Speech_Female> a member of the media <Speech_Female> to have to talk <Speech_Female> about that. Because <Speech_Female> you're <Speech_Female> hurting someone's <Speech_Female> feelings. <Speech_Female> You're hurting their <Speech_Female> family. You're hurting <Speech_Female> the people who love <Speech_Female> him. And that <Speech_Female> was very difficult. <Speech_Female> When the bears. <Speech_Female> Let lovey. Smith <Speech_Female> go. And i know <Speech_Female> it was very difficult <Speech_Female> on the family because <Speech_Female> they truly did <Speech_Female> love him <Speech_Female> and coming <Speech_Female> off of a double digit <Speech_Female> win season <Speech_Female> to have to <Speech_Female> say goodbye <SpeakerChange> to a coach. <Silence> Like that was tough <Speech_Female> now. <Speech_Female> I <Speech_Female> think the <Speech_Female> bears <SpeakerChange> need to take <Speech_Female> a page <Speech_Female> out of <Silence> the cubs <Speech_Female> and <Speech_Female> the blackhawks <Silence> play books. <Speech_Female> They need <Speech_Female> to <Speech_Female> dig around <Silence> for <Speech_Female> a fresh <Speech_Female> mind. <Speech_Female> That has already <Speech_Male> <Silence> been successful <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> in <Speech_Female> sports. <Speech_Female> And i don't care <Speech_Female> if it's a football <Speech_Female> mind or not. "A fan sided and i m generation z. We don't always get along but we do. Bolt share a love of sports and that has always brought us closer together in this episode. There's something we do. Get along agree on. The bears suck right now year. Do the bears quarterbacks suck right now owes of this is just it. It kills me to say this that they cannot get it right. The a five and one start to the season. In twenty twenty and a five game losing skid where the offense is hor rentis they bench mitch trubisky they bring in nick. Foles they sit. Nick falls they bring back mitch trubisky and it's horrible jason. I don't even know it's so hard to break down because every single part of this offense is really bad. Yeah well i wouldn't. I wouldn't goes far to every single part. I'd say allen robinson is looked really really good this year there have been games. You're david montgomery has look good but the start of the woes is the offensive line. The funniest thing to me was during the sunday night game when they do the the replacement for the player intros and this show the pro football focus rankings. four of the five bear starting offensive. Linemen have not played enough snaps to qualify to be ranked by pro football focus. Which is incredible to me now. That is clearly not all of the issue. The bears quarterback woes. Don't don't just start and finish this year. It's been a generational thing in a way. And while there were some bright spots trubisky the game started to fall apart with the throw into double coverage just made absolutely no sense in every stretch of the imagination. If you're gonna throw a deep ball especially double coverage. I don't know why are doing it to darnell mooney the offense just so completely out of sorts i drive was good but when you take away. The montgomery fifty five yard run. What would have happened on that drive. They would've punted they would have. They would have turned the ball over. It's the offense is all out of sorts and it puts so much pressure on the defense one of the fundamental things football..

"Were saying about Kyle Orton when they like first emerged, and they were being carried by their defense in their offense was doing very, very little. Yeah, I'm trying to look a its some of their stats in that season. I don't remember it very well. Which one The old five, Roo said No. The sixth season. You remember that They came out on fire in September, and they were putting up offensive numbers with that great defense. And then they were like 50 going up against Arizona. People were talking about them on Monday night football, beating that team by 30 points and then that's the crown of game which we just celebrated the anniversary over the weekend. Like their total offense was 3 63 83 25 3 63 50. I mean, Offensively, they they got a little more done than this group does getting done Now they had moose that Bernard Berrian and they had Thomas Jones in the back field. That's a better football team. Yeah. And they had a better line. Then, too. If you look at their offensive line, their offensive line was not bad, right? No, they weren't. It's an I in all this season. All hinges to me on what kind of progress they could make on the offensive side of the ball in the coming weeks. If they get more comfortable and guys start to get on the same page and they start to make progress, and I wouldn't put it. Not going to put a ceiling on them. Right now, With the offensive ineptitude that we've seen up to this point, it's hard to be overly up Domestic mystic When you project I'm thrilled. They're five and one. But if you ask me to project with what I see offensively right now, I'm a little itchy and scratchy Sylvie that 0 16 had a really good offensive line. And remember, they basically or John Tate on that line. You playing right tackle? Yes. And left tackle intensity takes the only one that missed who starts. The rest of the offensive line started sixth round Olin crew ts right Roberto Garza and Fred Miller and they had some nastiness on that. I mean, you talk about nasty bears offensive lineman to not mention Olin like nobody scared the hell out of me more than Olen crew. Well, I think the rest of the NFL felt the same way. Yeah, nobody wanted to get into a You know. Ah, battle with him. I bet you he could start on this line right now. I think you'd have to gain some weight. If you seem exceptional, right? Thin and good. He looks you take your chances. Oh, no doubt. I wish that I wish this team Some of them had the same personality. Yeah, will in DeKalb, You're on ESPN. 1000. Well, gentlemen, gentlemen, A is a great day to be a bear. Five and one bear down. Well, here's what I got going for you guys. The great parallel slightly made the point earlier. Work around at all The other teams in the NFC, The NFC is up for grabs. The bales are five and one. What are they saying in Dallas right now, They don't have a quarterback. What They say it in Tampa. They know what's what happens when they come against the Bears. And that my friends is a great state way to the great United States of America. We have so many problems here a lot of problems. So does every other country and they are just as bad, if not worse. America Bears bear down five and one. Thank you. Yes. There you go. Well, that was I. I feel proud to be an American right now, and I feel proud to be a bears fan. Remind me to have him not give the pre game pep talk to the Bears. I've seen the spec a stand you, Beckett. They showed, though, that he did shake Drew Brees his hand after the game in New Orleans. So I think it's a lack of respect. I think he thinks so highly of himself that he should never lose to Nick Foles. I feel like he's dissing. Folds and being a petty unsportsman like figure. I think it had more to do with the fact that he forgot the doctor got it was fourth down. Is this my manning after they were 17 and Oh, I don't. I don't know. You know that. "Have much of a pulse. Football is back in the NFL begins on Thursday. Texans chiefs We are back, he Sanjay will and Zubin, the fellas will be back tomorrow. He's getting all of this hot NFL takes ready to go. But why wait to get them tomorrow? Bart Scott 11 year NFL veterans Get about fire. I'm not so sure that she's on the talk of the breakfast taco. It's early this morning at 7 47 in the morning here in the East Baseball talk Buster only will join us in a 10 A.m.. Eastern time, but I want to do a little more NFL talk. Obviously. Texan chiefs are Monday night doubleheader and then scrunched in between obviously a ton of games on Sunday, which will include the bears playing at the lines and they will play. With Mitchell Robiskie running out there for the first snap for Chicago. He wins. I wouldn't call it like a hotly contested Q B battle, but it was intriguing at the very least over the weekend. Matt Nagy essentially saying True Biscuit is the guy he brought him in. They had a long conversation at the end, he dropped, You know, By the way, you're our starter. Robiskie knows he didn't get his fifth year option picked up. There's a million things going on with him. Is he really the long term answer? Right now, he's just control. He's just concerned. Excuse me with one thing, and I control my own destiny, and I'm not gonna take this opportunity for granted. It's I feel like he got a fresh new clean slate, and that's how every year should feel and after winning After coming out of a competition like that, it's got that sort of feel to it. It's a new year. We all the clean slate and we're not looking back in the past, not looking over my shoulder. I'm just going to take advantage of opportunity ahead and it feels good. It's exciting and I know we're all eager to get ready for this year and play this weekend. I mean, look, he's got the cliches down in this game is just as good as his cliches. I think you'd be great sacred to the clean slate twice, by the way there in that comment, So bottom line, it's Ah, It's him over fools. Your thoughts is two ways to go, is it? What did he do to earn it? What does it really mean? And what does it say that false couldn't beat about what it Nick Foles due to lose it because I feel like that's the bigger issue here yet because Nick Foles was the guy that we saw play elite at in spots right we saw, but it's only been underneath 11 uniform and one coach one system and was Matt Maggie not capable of being able to match his play calling with Nick Foles and skill set, which I feel like it's kind of like Mitchell Torbinski stay conscious to be used the same way with Mitchell being able to turn his back to the defense a little bit more, but I feel like the RP. Lt's really should be able to help both quarterbacks. Mixed biscuits is a quarterback too streaky. He has have guys open. He's not throwing guys open. But who knows? Because you can kind of be like and come on. And sometimes when you have a quarterback behind you, they bring somebody and they don't do something like pick up your fifth year option. Sometimes it lights a fire underneath you and you have to step your game up. Now, let's see when he When things go wrong, does he revert to who he is? Or if he stays consistent with his mechanics? His footwork? Make sure that he's disciplined and what he's doing, But to me really is more pressure on Khalil Mack. Then it is Mitchell Robiskie because he's underwhelmed last year, and they went on. They got Robert Quinn and listen, the Bears brand has always been about running a football playing stifling defense. And your quarterback and making play come on his attain that went to the Super Bowl with Kyle Orton or Rex Rex Grossman Noble. Who's the order to have some or Kyle or how they ran your name in my face right now, But you know, I feel like it's more pressure on Khalil Mack because what they gave up And like we talked about who won that way all at their group before and who is laughing now? Because it looks like that the Raiders in better position with all the draft picks in the draft equity that they got from the Bears, then the Bears actually are as faras containing in that division. They may be the fourth best team in that division and you don't train mothball number one for a transcendent player. And not be able to reap the benefits or at least be in the playoffs. That's a great point, because if you look at the situation, you simply say to yourself A couple of years ago, Matt Nagy goes to the airport. He picks up Khalil Mack. Then you win the division. You get the double doing. Things don't work out, but you kind of feel like things are moving in the right direction. And now nag is on the line. Travis Keys on the line. The guy they drafted him, Ryan Pace could be on the line. That's just in a matter of a couple of years. That.

Six hours through an idea out there guys. Get more of a celebrity big big brother guy with Ricky Williams mooch Ryan, Laki and Kato kaylin. Kiddo kale? Yeah. All right. Let's do a Mike greenberg's dumb rules. We gotta fix overtime or so people say because it's not fair because the patriots scored on the first drive, even though the Rams scored after stopping the saints, whatever I honestly, do not agreed fifty that like the uproar about overtime feels like it's a lot more of the patriots than it. Like if the chiefs have won that game in overtime. We need a metric to establish what outrages right where they outrage level is because I don't think there's as much outrage as you think there is. No, I think it was leading outrageous a wrong word outrage. But I think it is a topic of discussion once everyone moved on from the saints. They went right to the overtime on all the talking head shows and all that the metric over minutes. Yeah. How many Olbermann how many over is three? And a five and a half serves out of. Yes. Yeah. I think so. Yes, I think the outrage if there wasn't a was that he didn't get to see Patrick Mahomes play offense. Right. But I agree that the rule for overtime right now. It's not as good as it could be I like college overtime better than NFL. All the problem with college overtime is. You'd have to move them to the fifty because it's easy field goal. We talked about this. And the if you wanna talk about fairness, the coin flip in college overtime matters a lot too. So here from soft. Do a coin flip to see who gets call. The coin flip. I like that water it down a little bit. It's good one. What about just a straight field goal competition? Everyone loves field goals. Yeah. It's PK's. Yeah. Right. Let's just let other direction, but you can't have your kicker. Kick him. Yeah. I like that too here. Okay. Yes. It has to be either. I mean offense alignment anyone over three hundred pounds. Here is here's the idea that I want to see happen. College overtime twenty five yard. Line. Everything's the same as college overtime. Exact same rules only wrinkle each team has to play their backup quarterback who. Now, we're getting our creating jobs. Okay. And the backup quarterback is becoming becomes a very important position. So the minute you go to overtime your starter can no longer play quarterback. So we get like a second life of Charlie Whitehurst. And Josh mccown is like the the coveted back Jim Sergey what he got Kyle Orton comes out of retirement. Yes, moment, all your life. Lord..

"And so that I had I had to like really the work ethic was a big deal for me to kind of change a lot of that. So it. It it certainly was one of the great things. My father taught me how far into your high school career where they're aspirated or a belief that you could compete at the college level. You know, probably mice back into my sophomore was when we made highlight tape incentive out the schools there. That's kind of ages you Inuit and bit highlight tape, right? Sent it out the school to respond pretty good. And we've sent it from, you know, kind of lower level schools to the big time big ten schools and some SEC schools in a C C schools, and they all sort of respond pretty good and game calls from coaches and letters and whatnot. That's why I was like, okay. I don't know how series this is. But it's pretty serious. And then I ended up going to my junior end up going to one of the Nike Clint camps like the traveling Nike camps around the country. And there was some bigger name guys there. It was at Penn State, and I remember going there and throwing it whatnot and walk wake on jacket throat with with with these guys if not better than all of them. So you end up choosing Yukon, according to the the research. I did it was because you wanted to kind of change the program versus going somewhere bigger, like Michigan state, take me through your mindset there because that's not, you know, usually, my my decision for Cleveland sports was wanting to be, you know, small fish big pond and push myself. It seems like you were more interested in maybe insuring starting position or ensuring that you would have a some sort of affect on the program itself. Yeah, there's a little more layers to it. So I'd have rigidly committed to Michigan state and was gonna go play. They're like really wanted to go play in the big ten and have the opportunity Yukon was the first school to recruit me, I grew to recruit me for school to come to an person for schools offer me scholarship, but at that time that the program was one AA football, and I didn't pay much attention to it. I wanted to go to Boston College in the absolute worst away that was my favorite team as a kid. They were the first off for me. Yukon wise, and I didn't pay much attention to them but committed to Michigan state, and then my senior my junior year five school about gosh. Almost three quarters of the way through the season. Michigan state had this kid named Jeff smoker that was playing as a true freshman, and he was lighting it up and I wanted to play early. But he was he was ripping it. And I was like dude, I don't wanna go there and sit for two years. I I wanna play early because and this gets as a true freshman playing really good. So I d- commit and within the next couple of weeks. I take a visit to Purdue. And I love Purdue drew Brees was my host on my visit. I loved it. And I came home after the weekend and it was a Monday morning. And I told my dad this was a Sunday night. But I told my dad on Sunday evening. Hey, I'm gonna commit to Purdue tomorrow morning. I'm let's call them. Tomorrow morning commit. I woke up and that morning news broke that Kyle Orton was committing to Purdue who's one of. The highly rated guys of my class top-five rivals rankings or whatnot on and I said, well, I'm not gonna go to do because they're getting Orton. And again, I wanted to kind of ensure really good chance to start early..

"It's just basic west coast offense where I can promise you guys like Bill Belichick Mike Zimmer. Those guys were they've been around for so long and they had a face Bill Walsh. They know that often just as good as Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers they know the rules other west coast guys who have been successful. Let's say Sean Payton or Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVeigh. Yes, it's west coast based, but they've added their own footprint to it to go. I do this also along with it to make it not just the west coast. But I have my own wrinkles to add onto the west coast and Green Bay is as basic as it gets. It is what? We would call in the NFL day one day in day to insulation. All your basic plays. You put in the first day the rookies are in training camp. And all that that is really the meat and potatoes of the Green Bay offense. Let alone there's not a lot of talent around him. Davante Adams is a good player. Don't get me wrong. But teams are playing green bag on. And if we don't double devante atoms. We're really in trouble no run game. And Aaron Rodgers who you know. I think you know, I think is the greatest quarterback of all time a lot of because of what I'm saying. He carries this team for the last six to seven years with just his physical ability, and we see him dance around and sit there and the pocket and do that he's not doing that. Because he wants to look cool. He's doing that. Because nobody's opened a lot of the time. This year was at his best year. Definitely not. There was some moments where I was like man that guy you hit your fifth step throw it in. But I also think that he's been scarred by people not being open so much of the time pass protection was an issue this year consistently throughout. The year and a lead to less than stellar Aaron Rodgers type play, but it gets magnified in Green Bay because it's always about him. And it's about him making magic, and we could watch and I'm not trying to knock anybody here with this. We could watch Jared Goff or drew Brees Tom Brady, and they would miss some of the throws Aaron Rodgers miss. But we don't make a big deal about it. Because the next play there's another wide open guy. And we get got the first down. It's not that big of a deal in Green Bay, we go then he's the first guy was seen open. How did he miss them? And are they gonna get anybody opened again? And that's where I look at it. And I think you're right Rogers starving for he doesn't even know what he doesn't know. I say that to Mike Florio NPF. He doesn't know what he doesn't. He's never had anybody else that teach them. This is how we've got an element opened nine hundred times. Can I tell you something you'll probably I think you will recognize this. When I tell you this. But the first year that mcdaniels was in Denver. I went out to do a story, and I got to sit in on a. A quarterback meeting. And it was interesting. It was it was Kyle Orton, Tim Tibo. So that was a second year. That's right. That's right. That's right. It was Kyle Orton. Right. Tim Tibo Brandstatter Brandstatter. He wasn't there. But Adam gays was in there. That's right and Mike McCoy was in this. They were okay. And there was one other quarterback. And I forget, but I will never forget they sat in there. It was maybe like a ninety minute meeting, and I'm paraphrasing this it was whatever a decade ago. But Josh mcdaniels says I want explain to you about this offense because they were just starting from scratch..
