"Keep the every time I keep thinking that there's no way there's you know, there's no way Zach Davies is going to Kyle Hendricks has been bad. Yet. Here they are, and they're plugging away there. They've been phenomenal in May. The offense has turned things around. They have that thing going where they I loved your interview the other day with Rizzo. I love that the chip on the shoulder like a We should be here for longer than the durations of 2021. But So I guess we have to do something about it. But the argument is Look, Kimberly, I don't care about right. I mean, he's not coming back. You know that for a fact, So he's pitching really well. We all know how bullpen how people are starving for both, and the White Sox, who went into the season and it's still a strength who went in thinking. That bullpen is is as strong as anyone in the game. Probably in the market for reliever. No question about it. So the Kimbrel sweepstakes will be real to get Bryant with the season. He's 77 n v P Type season. He's top five and O. P. S. Look, if I know I'm getting a Garrick Rochet Andrew von. I'll keep you how we're gonna keep using those names. Just the people who know how they project level. Those projections first round talent that that is playing in the big leagues. That youth have seen at least the sample size to think, man. This guy's going to be special and knowing. What the Cubs want to do in 2020. They're not talking about doing a full scale rebuild. They want to kind of do it. What many like the Yankees in 16? Many reboot and they were right back at right back at it. And if it takes a step back if you don't Think about 2022 23 24 2021 if you're the Cubs What's the division? Time? I'm going to give you 2020 21. Unless you win the World Series unless you win the World Series or again. That, you know damn Well, you're signing Chris Bryant, Right? You know that, then? Yes. So if if Jed is sitting at his desk and goes No, my budget. I can get Chris re signed. I can get Javi re signed. Now that we're getting fans back in and by July will probably 100%. Conjugate. All these guys re signed and they all say to you. I want to stay. So if you meet this number I'll stay. Then you have to seriously think about keeping them. But if you're getting a gross over pay like I felt, and you, you're a diehard Sox fan. We were in that newsroom over TV, and I kept saying you Can tell us socks. He so overrated. And of course, the Cubs had to give up their two best. Right. I tell you We're going to get that pack. I said they are. If you're not willing to give up, you'll owe him and is they're going to hang up the phone and you left your like, There's no way and now you're acting. The Cubs are gonna trade with white socks. I'm like you're probably right. Then they did. And they remember saying to Jed and to feel standing in the dugout. Can't believe you guys traded those guys. Hey, we needed pitching. I said he ain't what you think you got. Just remember. I told you so. Like you see similar. I mean, look at CES last night like he's starting to look like he's a thing right? Like he's a guy 29 swing and misses last night 29. That's tied with Jacob the ground for the most this year in a game. It's the second best ever since I was 24 25. He was 100 Miles an hour. 29 swing and misses, right. How'd you like to have that guy in your rotation? Cubs? All of a sudden, you go. Oh, I got Al's alive. I got cease Yeah, I got Kyle Hendricks. That's 3/5 of a really good rotation. We'll use the loin sees that as a barometer. If you get that kind of call, right for your jet, where again, cap it means you're a cup guy. Do they do? The Cubs have the budget to to sign one or two of your worth three and 3.6 billion. You have any budget you want like you're barking up the wrong tree because I think it's ass tonight. Let's go to Steve in Lombard. Hey, state what's up cooking? Good morning, and here's my prediction, Gentlemen. The Cubs are the best team in the central Division. They are gonna win the division. And the Cubs are going to end up signing all three of those guys. And here's why I'm saying that Right now the team's salaries. The Cubs are like in the middle of baseball their way below the threshold up for the luxury tax luxury tax. Thank you. Their way below that, and you just look at their roster right now. Now, first off, Jason Heyward's money finally comes off in two years. So we have that money. But if you look at the rest of the roster be said, we have plenty. The Cubs are a cash cow guys, and you guys know it if it's 100% Attendance with ticket revenue, Then they're gonna have a lot of money and if they're playing well Then the TV money advertising. The Cubs are a cash cow. They're gonna sign all three. And we're going to add to those guys. We're gonna have a couple young, good young pitchers that are cheap flounders. Hope, Steve. Thanks for the call. Steve. Appreciate you have a great holiday weekend. I hope that Steve is right as a cubs fan. I want to see it. I'm just not sure I believe it. So would you trade Kris Bryant, Craig Kimbrel for a team's top three legitimate major league star caliber prospects were not talking about Some kind of a flyer here. "Most of them won't be available till July. I would assume maybe one of the Mets backups would be available now, though, I do think Jed would pick up the phone to anybody right now. You don't normally get those calls in May. But obviously recounts going to be making some phone calls. There's no doubt my mind about that. And and by the way, let's stop this Sox Cubs trade talk That is the equivalent of you being too lazy to get off your block and find other women to date. You're just going across the street. You're going across the street just date the woman because all I saw her in her flower bed. I don't want to date her. You get to live and see something second, they gotta hope they got a M. V P candidate type player who's wanted before. Who, by their own admission, They're probably not going to re sign and you lost 80 home runs. It's a perfect fit for you guys. We already fleeced you once. You wouldn't happen again. No, probably you probably won't want to deal with the socks again, Do you? It was not a good trades cubs you want to do with that again? That was not so bad. Thanks then. No, thank you. Now to the Cubs were talking about the Cubs. I'll tell you what, Jesse. Look, It might be a long year for the Cubs, but they can put this in the yearbook as something positive. I had no idea that comes would have this gun offense. First of all in Game one against Kershaw and the way they came back from behind and Game two. This is focused on Kershaw for a second. As I watched the game, I'm thinking he's gonna come back for the second inning, right, Shutting him down after 44 runs surrendered. How much that surprising from Robert's a little bit definitely a little bit there. Little short, I'm pitching, so maybe they wanted to sort of bring it back on short rest, and what inning is no big deal. Right? So I think he's thinking about his next start, or next few starts. Maybe it was the cool cooler weather. It's not like the Dodgers have played in a lot of that. But look, they took it to him. No doubt he's spiking balls, and they took advantage of when he was in the strike zone. And they got to power a little bit. I mean, Hayward homered off him, and eventually they win. That was a great night. Great day and night. No doubt about it, And we don't know where this cub season's gonna go. Probably to the seller's market is we've been talking, but you got to enjoy these kind of moments just tweeted out. It's the eighth time. Team is swept a Napo Nin, who has started to Cy Young winners in the double header, just the eighth time in history, so that's pretty cool. So look, I think there's some really good things happening with the cuts. Keegan Thompson started that game. Justin still finished it right late those air to cut draft picks. We we have lamented the fact they have not had Pitchers drafted and make it to the majors. Well, there's two of them that have done it right. We know Nico Horner's A good story so far. Advert House lays an emerging picture Craig Kimbrel granted blue to say, but You know that's gonna happen and give a long fly ball that just ended up in the basket. There's some good story lines if you're not worried about the standings, But if you are worried about the standings than a doubleheader doubleheader sweep of the Dodgers is pretty good. The interesting thing is, I watched this Cubs like yesterday was awesome. A few head Decided in the morning. I'm gonna bet the cubs to sweep the double header. People would've thought you're out of your freaking mind. And you got a Complete game performance out of Kyle Hendricks. And you mentioned Keegan Thompson and then Kimbrel comes in and gives up the home run and Javi answers. The Ballon ties the game back up, and then David Brody, Danny's guy comes through to win the ball game like That was the most unlikely way That game went down both both games that I could have possibly imagined. Yeah, I agree. And but think about this offense now on Jay Hood, I think you know cap was on vacation. I mentioned to you this last week about 10 week. 10 days two weeks ago, Basically when Jack Peterson went down It forced David Ross to diversify that line of you're not just seeing one through eight half of the top body it number eight and all these swings and misses in between. It is diversified. It's crazy. That sounds they've been better when so guard's been in there. When Marie's Nick, your guy has been in there, obviously, one Horner's been in there. I don't like that Opening day lineup where you have happened, voting and all that swing and miss These backups have helped diversify. Now you're not gonna win a bunch of games without backups, but is given the opponent a different look at the plate. I can't stress that enough. It is a different looking offense because he has different players in there almost on a nightly basis, and it's it's causing some havoc for the opponent opposing pitcher. Even if they're not scoring a lot of runs. They're getting a look at the contact they they're making. That's creating some of these moments for them. It's it's different than it was early in the season. I think that's important to know. Captain. Do you think that the garret suspension of seven games with the Cubs? It's It is too strong. No, just write down. It was just right. I was actually surprised. I didn't think I'm sure he'll appeal and I'll get knocked down to five. But it's a reliever that has more teeth and one start. What do you think? Jesse? I think it's the right move in and a lot of people read fans obviously think they overreacted, but you have to understand what they're trying to do. They want the celebrations. They want the emotion. They want the enthusiasm. But once you cross that line to taunting, and that's exactly what that was, they're going to shut it down. So in other words, if you want the backflips, did you better not cross that line when you're staring into the other dugout? Purposely to send a message. Celebrate what you want, do whatever you want towards your own dugout. But once you start staring down the other team, the other apartment, the guy that you just struck out, For God's sakes, Merisel feels bad enough. He struck out You don't need to start pounding your chest and walking towards them right? You could pound your chest that your dog out that's fine. Once you're staring out the opponent, it's the right move. So I like the fact that they were that that harsh seven games for reliever like you said, is a lot cap. Yeah, and as we let you go, I like if a pitcher like one bearing gear for the twins back in the day would ring guys up? That's fine. Bat. Flip me if I get you. I'm gonna ask Rizzo about it. Hey, man, you know bad flip me if you hit me hit the ball out. But just understand. I'm going to ring you up. I'm all let you know about it. You're real quick. You see Trevor Bauer Last night He showed emotion, but it was walking towards this dug up every time he had a big strikeout. He did it towards his dugout. Totally fine. You just can't do it towards the opponent. Jesse. Have a great day, man. You two guys take care of appreciate you, Jesse Rogers, fueled by the pride stores, not.

"So I feel like Ross was getting Jeffress ready for a jam and then didn't go to him in a jam. Unless, of course, he was waiting for the basis to be loaded, which is a weird thing to do, so I'm playing along with Ross here. And thinking, all right. Jefferson is there If a couple guys get on, but then he didn't make the move. So that's where I don't get it so much. Look, if Hendricks gets out of it, no one's going to think twice because this is Kyle Hendricks. So it's a tough call. I mean, that's why I don't really criticized manager's going back to Joe on those moments. It's just it's you could be burned either way, and you could have success Either way, it's based on the result. But the way he was thinking it felt like Jeffress was there warming up in the seventh to get out of a jam. He never got that chance, so I can't be disingenuous. Jesse when that moment happened, I said. I'm okay with Kyle Hendricks facing this guy, But in the end, he had a shutout the seventh inning. You're freaking offense got to one stinking run, and I read a stat studying as it is from humble onto Get up, who said Since they clinch the World Series title November 2nd 2016. Maya's Bryant Rizzo have combined in postseason at bats. 19 for 1 30, a buck 46 48 strikeouts to six walks. That mean that stunning? Yeah, I'm glad you brought it up, obviously, because a manager's decision even if Jeffreys comes in, he could blow the lead like it shouldn't come down to that. It should come down to a one run. At home against the team with young pitchers have never played in the playoffs. So it's all about the offense. Not about that decision. I don't have an answer for you. Don't you guys don't have an answer. Nobody. Theo doesn't have an answer for those numbers. You just you just mentioned the only answer. Based on everything we know is they got fat in that world. Siri's and have been trying to live off that ever since. That just doesn't sound right, though. Right way know that these guys have some character in some fight in them. You're just not showing it at the plate, And my feeling is this has been a very unique and crazy, unpredictable season, obviously because of Cove it But the script is the same for that Cub offense. Three years running. It's the same thing. They Peter out towards the end. And they go out into the offseason with their tail between their legs. And maybe that won't happen. I mean, today's the day like this guy's a rookie. Great stuff, Sixto Sanchez. He hasn't pitched in eight days, though. And his last two outings he gave up seven runs over nine innings. This is the day you've got to put up some runs from early, Jesse. Yeah, and along those lines don't be shocked. If your guy Anthony Rizzo is leading off today. Ross almost did it yesterday. He might do it today. Now Hap did hit a home run. Not that he let off the game with one, but he did hit that home run. But justice try something different to spark them. Rizzo might lead off today He's going to put a couple more at least one more right in the line of Sixto actually tougher against lefties than righties. So for sure. Corner or Vody at second, you know, maybe he squeezes Maybin in there, although I doubt it because probably Contreras will d. H but you've got to get something going. That's why result could be up there at the top, but Sanchez has struggled lately. Granted it be better if there were 40,000 in the stadium. But still it's a rookie first playoff appearance, and you know this your backs against the wall. If you can't score today, you don't deserve one. It's funny. We're going. We're going to talk to you about the honor of Jesse. So you don't So clearly, Kartini is going to catch because it's Darvish. So you don't do Maybin and left and forward the D H. No, because you want contrast in the line of his well again, right. He's having more success against Sanchez. You could start Navan and just sits warmer you could because of those splits, and I don't know. I kind of feel like boat has been the most clutch. I wouldn't mind him its second, though Horner's a little bit more steady. Probably. Well, I don't know. Well, who would you start? Second. You tell me I would start Nico Horn budget. Yeah, I mean, he's a little more steady, but vote has been more clutch with guys on base. Yeah, it is a chance for Burt could sit mavens and left just because of those splits and you know, it. Just got to try something else. You went with your normal lineup yesterday, and it just didn't work. So if you could go back to the End of 2017. When you lost pretty convincingly to the Dodgers, or if we go, I'll even give you end of 2018. When Theo had his press conference October 3rd and said, our offense broke Now we've played the 19 and 20 seasons and they've moved. Nobody. You could go back to that day. Our offense broke. Who would you have moved the recon hitting coach nine times and they did move one guy, Joe Maddon. So that didn't that didn't help. Obviously, they got off to a great start this year under the under us. I mean, look after 18. See I'd value left handed hitting you. I don't think people realize you need left handed Power Wrigley Field. It's not easy to hit those home runs out to right. I think rezone Schwarber should be staying past this year. To be honest, I know not former doesn't have a lot of love in the city, but left handed power doesn't grow on trees. I don't I go back to that. I mean, I'm not sure what the value of Schwarber was in that moment, Right boy, Chris, pliant. If you knew he wasn't going to sign up, I would probably consider that. A time to trade him when his value was hired. But who would have thought that Chris pliant would kind of go through these injuries may just so many unpredictable things. But Bryant would have been the guy to get you the most value because even then, you probably knew he wasn't signing for big money. So I guess I would answer Chris pliant for those reasons. By the way, I am going to go on the record with a prediction. Anthony Rizzo will not lead off today they will stick with him. I mean, I'm just saying it's a possibility. He almost did it yesterday. That's all I know. I do know that So I just a possibility you might be right. I mean, half homer yesterday, so that kind of he was struggling, so that kind of helps the cause. But Look, it's six half a dozen of the other At this point. You just need guys to hit wherever they're batting. Right. Whatever wherever they are in the order. Where's bias? Kinser? Our guy look made him look like a you know, a 12 year old at the place. I said the hood of the earlier Look, They're throwing fastballs by our guys and Anthony Rizzo. Standup guy stands up there and says, Hey, man, they beat us with fastballs and that's on us. Yeah, and that And that's scary because that's the one thing they can hit. When they're clicking. They don't hit curve balls. They don't hit change ups and Sixto throws more. Those Sanchez throws more curveballs and changeups. The concert will so that this is where it worries me. Yesterday was a little bit better match up on paper than today. So today is a rookie in his first playoff game, and here's the other thing. Being there and watching. It is the reason by his maybe look so bad the night those shadows were really a problem in the 8th and 9th innings. You want to have a lead in the seven after seven innings? Maybe that's why Jeffries was warming up so early that surprised me. But you want to have that lead. The 8th and 9th innings of the Sun's out will not be fun today or tomorrow. This time of year. Those shadows coming pretty bad against the hitters. Tell you one thing, Jesse. Usually we have a football Friday way We might have a Shiva Friday or a funeral flat tomorrow. Not good. He did a great job on TV..

He lost three straight games against the Cardinals, The White Sox and the Reds. It was almost a you know, three straight starts. He didn't pitch well. He was giving up a lot of hits. Lot of earned runs on things were going in the wrong direction. In the month of September. Kyle Hendricks has gotten back on the right track. He has three straight wins. Ah, last time out. 17 2 3rd innings pitch, giving up six hits, two runs on Ly one home run two home runs He's given up in this month, We had seven strikeouts. And he threw 106 pitches, so he's going deep in the games. He went eight against the Cardinals on September the seventh, and so when we look at Carl Hendrix, who's on the mound tonight against the Twins, Has he turned it around? Are you confident in Carl Hendrix as your number two for the Chicago Cubs now hang towards the playoffs and was that little trip up in the middle of this short season? In August. The three game losing streak just kind of a bitch. A bad run for him, And now he's on on the right path. I think so, You know, if you talk to Kyle Hendricks, he's one of the smartest guys in the room. And I don't mean that in like a like a bad way. I don't mean like he's not like mean about it. He's a student of the game. He studies his craft, so and I think it's very easy to for pitchers to find especially him because he's done it before. Find out what little hitch he's got going on in his mechanics. And, like Jessie was on yesterday, talking about how Jon Lester needed to figure out that he was going in his in his delivery. He was going from from 10 to 4 instead of going from like 11 to 5, you know, so he needed to figure that out. Like so, Hendrix. You know, he can watch himself pitch in these video sessions figure out what that little mechanic thing is and fix it. And hopefully that's what the issue was for those couple games where he, you know, mess. What? He didn't have good outings, and now you need him going into the playoffs because in these three game sets for the wild card, Siri's You hope that you Darvish Khun, Go as your one. And then Hendrix can go is your two and then if you need to get to a three hopefully Jon Lester has figured something out and can give you a you know a start if you need it, if you if it goes to three games, so I think that I think he has figured out because I think he's capable of doing it. You know, he's not just going to throw this as hard as I can. He is not just, you know, trying to throw 100 miles an hour and hope that his fastball beats everybody. He's more of that. The comparison is always Greg Maddux. You know, like he's nibbling at the strike zone, using a lot of his defense, a lot of the defense in his outing, so I feel like he's the guy. On the staff that could pinpoint what is wrong and fix it. The quickest Kyle Hendricks, tonight's starter for the Cubs, is to know with the 1.66 E R. A In three starts in this month, striking out 17 batters and walking two. He has walked six batters in 65 2 3rd innings pitched this season. Good for a national league best and a 0.82 walks per nine innings. So you're right, Abdullah, because the fact that you don't he doesn't walk anyone, so it keeps traffic off the base pads. I know he gave up, boy what I say seven or eight hits his last outing, but you know the ability to Get guys to swing and miss and to ground out and to kind of just move the game along without giving free passes to the opposition, I think is key here, and I think I think you're right. I think he has figured it out. And I think it gives the Cubs a lethal 12 punch heading into the playoffs. Now, what do you do for the third person in that rotation when you're going getting into a playoff, Siri's It's tough because Jon Lester at points this year has been really bad. He's also been decent. So like, and we've seen Alk Mills give you a no hitter, but also we've seen him struggle, eh? So there's a lot to kind of look at with the Chicago Cubs and they're pitching rotation as we head towards the playoffs, two socks and reds. The Reds lead one. Nothing Casiano say home run to left. In the bottom of the first. So the Reds lead one. Nothing over the Sox Stephen Elmer's here on ESPN 1000. What's up, Steve? Hey, guys, You know, one of the things that we're talking about Hundreds have to keep in mind is on the low vs at home. He had an incredible run Wrigley Field over the last few years. And the last I know, least starts talking about what he's done. Really Well, Were it Wrigley Field Now, if we see him, have AH, Couple of really good start. Down the stretch here away from you feel I feel really good about that, because You know, he struggled in places like Cincinnati. Where you think? Oh, man, he had a Glock there really have pretty good outing and no, no, no, no, he struggled. And so you know, that's one of the factors. But when you talk about the third picture in a rotation in the playoffs And I'll tell you what Mills Forget about the no hitter. I mean, obviously, that was outstanding, but start before that was also outstanding, and he's made adjustments. The league adjusted to him after the first couple of games, where he was the first game of the season is outstanding. Mentally adjusted till they started working from the changeup and and they were hit him pretty good, and now he's adjusted back, and he's thrown more fastballs, more breaking balls. And he hated having a lot more successful. Obviously, last couple starts, so I really like him and 10, Lester. I mean, it was nice of him. Have a good outing. You know, the one before last, especially good. But I just don't..

"Dan Exit Herman and Christopher Black I'm David Caplan 3123323776 White Sox also got Johan Moncada back from the injured list. He was dealing with what he said was not completely asymptomatic, but not a horrific case of covert 19 and he's been cleared. Has had negative tests. And so he is back with the White Sox and hopes he could start opening day next Friday. On the North side. The Chicago Cubs have announced their opening day starter Danny Boy, You were working with Jesse last week. I know Jesse and Gordon went Meyer Both were saying it's going to be you, Darvish. You and I have been on the Kyle Hendricks train and we get that announcement yesterday. I didn't even think it was close. Did, you know? Know from everything that I've been reading about? You know, this early summer camp is they're calling it Kyle Hendricks came in, and he looked like he was ready to pitch this whole pandemic. He was in Arizona. He was still pitching. He was still you know, looking fresh. And then this week when he went out, and he threw, like, six innings or whatever it was, and he looked dominant. I knew Kyle Hendricks was in a position to pitch on day one because he could save the bullpen. You know, in this short season, they're going to be going to the pen a lot, and Kyle Hendricks is in mid season form, so it made sense. I also could see people arguing for Yu Darvish. She was brought in and he's paid like an ace. He looked really good down the stretch last year, so you could have made the argument for him. But in my mind based on the preparedness of Kyle Hendricks coming into this training camp, it had to be him. He said that he know he was working out with Chatwood. But he also said he kept his pitch count up. Which is not an easy thing to do during the pandemic, because, like you, you're not gonna throw every day, obviously, But how do you have no idea if you're ever going to even play? And you only have so many bullets in your arm, and I know it's not high leverage, stressful innings when you're throwing during the shutdown, But that's pretty impressive that he was able to keep his strength up and his pitch count up so that he feels like he could go seven innings. No problem next Friday, and hopefully it works out that way. You know, he's also don't they call him like the professor because his ability to prepare for games and read the scouting reports. I think in the shorter season, the fact that he's ready to go like I said last Tuesday, he pitched six in the third inning, 70 pitches. I mean, for a guy that's only been a quote unquote summer camp for a week. That's that's progress that he's already at that point and the fact that he prepared so well when game one starts against the Brewers, he's going to know the scouting report. He's going to know the pitches to throw. He's going to put the Cubs in the best position to win Game one, which counts is like 2/3 game according to their math. And it also sets him up. Like I said, to save the pen. And that pen scares me. It really does like if they could get off to the kind of start where you get seven or eight innings at a Kyle Hendricks and you cruise and win And then you get a really good six or seven innings out of Yu Darvish. Boy. It's just so important to get off to a great start. You dropped a Siri's at home. To the Brewers at Wrigley, and you don't get good starting pitching out of your top guys early. Only 60 freaking games, man. You better be ready to go. You better be ready to rock and roll. 3123323776 Let's go back to the phones. Patrick is on the south side. Hey, Patrick. What's up, man? Patrick fell off, Cappie. Oh, I'm sorry. That's that. That's one of the Glitches in the system. When I'm up here instead of seeing the phone bank light up, I could go to someone. That's not there. So sorry. Patrick tried to get you in kid. A couple of hours. Yeah, Whatever. Just gets me triggered because it's just the trade on its face. The Kitana trade was stupid. It was dumb. It never made sense. Never See, I told you of the year you, you know you. You're the only guy that feels that way on the day they made the trade, although Cub fans knew what they were giving up to get Jose Quintana. We also said to ourselves, Boy feels a genius. He got a young, controllable arm. That's pretty damn good. I never said that. I said aside from you. I mean, I remember walking around talking to different Sox fans, either relatives friends guys I worked with. They're all like, okay, Tom is amazing. And I'm like, always not. He doesn't throw hard. He doesn't get high strikeouts. He's a serviceable, great guy, serviceable. That for those kind of guys, you give up one pretty decent prospect. One pretty decent prospect, like when they traded Ryan Dempster away. Now I understand his contract was up versus Kitana was locked in. I get it. You got back a prospect. He turned out to be a really good player in Kyle Hendricks. But he wasn't like the top of the Texas Rangers food chain. Take three. A prospecting. I works already is a good guy. He's got okay stuff, but he really studies turning to be a hell of a pitcher. But you're going to take your top two prospects and that's what you're going to get back. Please. I mean, it's just Ricana literally had to hang up that phone and go. Okay. I know what Sunday morning. Pour me a stiff drink because I just I just won the lottery. I just got two amazing players for a really pedestrian pitcher. And now he'll be out of here A T end of this year. And everyone look back and go. Can you believe that trade turned out? Take that, Tim. 3123323776 Shawn's had ST John. Hey, Sean, What's up, man? Hey, cap. I just wanna remind you that at one point, you said I believe Jose Quintana is elite. That absolutely never happened. That is what we call the doctor of audio. Christopher Black having some creative license. That's not my name. I'm bad at it. The audio cap..

"Jonathan Hood on ESPN 1000 ESPN Chicago After we're just days away from Major League Baseball for Real Cubs Sox. Everything else around Major League Baseball covers the Cubs and everything else around the big leagues. Jesse Rogers. My friend joins me here on ESPN 1000 in the ESPN. Chicago out. Hello, Jess. Good evening. J Hood. What's up? Well, you know what's up right around the corner, Little cubs, little white socks. Everything else. MLB. I'll ask you this. What stands out most about what you've seen so far in these summer camps. You've been with a few of these here at Wrigley Field. What do you What do you like most About 2020 Cubs baseball. Yeah, very specifically Kyle Hendricks, who was named the opening day starter. He looks fantastic. He kind always does in the spring. And this is, you know, obviously the summer version of spring training because he doesn't So hard. It doesn't take him forever to get ready. You know, he just he just sharp. He's just sharp, and he looks that way. So I like the fact he's getting the opening night day nod Could've been Darvish. They've been working at the same time, same days facing each other in scrimmages, but they went with Kyle Hendricks. He just seems a bit more stretched out. I would not be surprised if he through six innings in his first started season. I don't think a lot of starting pitchers will do that. But he could. He's gonna throw up too. You know, 85 to 185 next time out against the White Sox on Sunday, so and then, and then he could get to 100 on opening day against the Brewers. So I I like Carl Hendrix. And actually, I mean, I've been impressed at what's going on at the plate. I thought hitters would be way behind the pictures will secure terraces locked in Tarantini looks good. There's been a lot of good at that. You know, it's it's It's meaningless in some ways, but I thought they'd be way behind. I thought there'd be strikeout school Lauren and poor contact against their own pictures. But Cubs hitters have looked decent. So we'll see if that translates come Friday against the Brewers. But that catching combo really stands out. I really like them and obviously with the D H. That is an advantage. You can get carrot eating controllers in the lineup at the same time. You know for those who've never been to a practice of any kind when it's when you're taking on, you know, like for the Bears the often sticks on the defense we've seen this year, with the Cubs and White Sox, taking on one another in these inter squad games. How does a manager usually evaluate because we're seeing some things here? Obviously, offensively where the ball is up in the air, and things were working well for the Cubs, the other side. You know that there's some defensive gems here and there. I wonder how Ross is able to evaluate all of that, when he sees it out there with some players make mistakes or if the ball goes out of the ballpark. I think it's the same thing as he would do in the Cactus League as much as he can. I mean, you're still facing major leaguers. It's not like they brought a minor league team and you are facing you. Darvish who are facing Jon Lester, you're facing Kyle Hendricks. The result is still going to be a of the major league variety, right. It's not water down in any aspect for either sight. I mean, I don't I don't you know, a guy makes a diamond catch. Our guy doesn't I don't think it's going to be made a big deal. I think it's about reps for everybody in the field at the plate on the mound, so As long as there Getting their reps. I don't think David Ross is doing a lot of evaluation. I think you evaluate pictures. Do they look strong? Can they be stretched out? I mean that that's important to start the season. How long can a pitcher go? Can't reliever go to winnings instead of one can relieve her? Go back to back. Those are all Sort of things David Ross has to evaluate. That's not easy in a three week stretch, but other than that, he Kanae Canal. You ate his hitters pretty much like he would in February or March because he is they are facing major league pitching. You broke the news about Hendrix as you mentioned as opening day that you had Darvish after that anything else was after that. I mean between those. Oh, I mean, I think it's obvious it's going to be Lester Chat water chat with Lester Lester is not ready for some reason, but man, they better get ready because they don't have a lot of pitching behind it. So unclear when it will use 1/5 starter or do a bullpen day out Mills. They don't have many guys that can do what he does have a couple, but he's going to be that swing man, which could be a very important role. But if he's starting, you can't do that Swing rolls. So it is a little interesting after Darvish in Hendrix, obviously Lester, like I said, is there And that one as well. But nothing's written in stone after those couple top guys, those of your those your horses this year. I think Lester can get there. He's just not not there yet. Big guy takes a little bit longer to get there, but I would expect he would start Game three or four. Jesse Rogers covers the Cubs eventually baseball for ESPN dot com. He joins me Jonathan Hood on under the hood on ESPN. 1000 the ESPN Chicago Apt. You know, it's as they grow up before our very eyes. Jesse Rizzo and bright are interesting to listen to. I heard that zoom call with Rizzo very thoughtful, laid out his thoughts about covert 19 and major league baseball talking about his situation. It started for me with Bryant with him him dissing ST Louis. And then, of course, his contract situation. I like that. The 22 of the pillars of the cubs are as outspoken as they are. Because you need that. That sounds like leadership to me when I hear them with their long form thoughts. Yeah, I think you're right and especially right about raised on. Both have evolved over the years in those roles. It came a little easier and quicker for Rizzo. He was almost forced into that role back and, you know 13 14 15. Obviously, when they got Lester it help. But as far as the position players are concerned, we know that Rizzo's kind of been the captain all along here, and he has been more outspoken in recent years. Brian. It's really been a transformation. I mean, I guess it was a couple of years ago. It started in spring training, He seems most outspoken in spring and summer camp in this case. Once the season gets going, Chris kind of You quiet down, but you know you got it goes into his own little baseball world where he's just trying to hit the ball, obviously, but in spring training these last couple years, he's definitely been more outspoken and as he's grown into this Sort of player that he is union reptile..

"If you've ever seen performance Aquino three home runs yesterday Kyle Hendricks was terrible as the Chicago Cubs they lose ten to one once again struggling on the road in this series against the Reds down in Cincinnati how about this Paul Solman tweeted this yesterday I can't claim to be able to do the math and and figure this out Lester Hamels and Kyle Hendricks in their last three starts have combined for an eighteen point six three ERA in three starts they've given of twenty earned runs combine and only pitch like nine innings total between the three of them so you look at your guys and you look at Lester and handles that Hendrix and three guys that you want to be able to count on late in the season and you need you need a good road start and start to the road you need this you you won the first game against the the the Reds and you look to hopefully maybe with a road series for the first time since may seventeenth through the nineteen and now the best they can do is if they win today is split the series against the Reds and then they still have to continue this road trip crest they still have to go to pay to Philly after this they got out early on Monday and then they go to Pittsburgh so you need Lester to come back after his horrible outing but this is something Lester done has done with the colors for every year every year around this time for some reason Jon Lester has had a horrible outing where he only goes like two innings three innings so hopefully he can rebound against the Reds today in the cubs can split the series but ultimately the road struggles they've only been able to score after putting up twelve runs on Thursday against the Reds to start the series they've only been able to put up three runs total the last two games interesting thought on Jon Lester and how he should bounce back I understand we've seen the numbers that I usually mid summer to late summer the dog days Lester as a terrible outing they comes back in he's the Jon Lester we expect problem is each year of that he gets older as the picture each year you don't expect as much of a bounce back I'm wondering we're starting to see the decline as Lester as the number one ace on this team and that's where you look at today today's a huge game for Jon Lester for this team as well and I feel like we keep saying that throughout the summer that we get to these points where it's the team could take a turn right yeah all right you show up today Lester's good everything's okay that's not that big of a deal that you drop these games against the Reds in back to back days in Cincinnati but if Lester comes out today and still can't get it done and it looks like he isn't bouncing back the way we expected then that's going to be a problem Carl Hendrix yesterday suffered the worst loss since returning from a shore eyes sore shoulder on July second hundreds gave up seven runs in a season high twelve hits in only two and two thirds innings the shortest sense he went on the same he went the same distance against the Dodgers on June twenty seventh of last season so Kyle Hendricks not good you know this seven earned runs only throwing sixty seven pitches and not even getting to the third inning getting through the third inning the one thing I I said this on last week's show I feel like the cubs are at their best when Kyle Hendricks is pitching really well with them he he seems to me to be the neutralizer that win other things are not going well it Hendrix's going well usually that rates the ship for the team any why was the cubs the kind of get back to who they're supposed to be but when Hendrix's a mass that hurts what goes on with the entire rotation because I feel like Hendrix is the one guy who is very reliable in this group no I agree with you and you know last night he goes the two in two thirds innings with before that he got them when he gets went six innings before that seven innings and he had the before that he had a shoulder problem so I feel like this is this is for I feel like this is another situation where you have to wait and see what his next start is like maybe he just didn't have it so I I don't know the answer he said he felt fine didn't have any shoulder soreness or anything like that so this is just just one of these little it's baseball just not his night tonight it's just based Chris I'll have you know and I have you know I'll have you know despite being twenty two and thirty five on the road despite losing twenty four of their last thirty four games on yeah well there ten thirty one ten twenty four of the road in their last thirty four I go to ESPN dot com and click on the end of the page and click on the standings page a close I scroll down to the National League central and I look and they're still of a game and have fun on the brewers in two games up on the card this is still there still in first place they're in a crappy division luckily there in a crappy division and because of that they have a few games of wiggle room right now now I don't want to go back and like last year we point to own remember that series at the beginning of August when they lost three out of four to the Reds and yeah and the the the brewers came within a half game and then never look back or the cardinals got into is you know they had a chance to kind of separate themselves the division because you still have twenty four games on the road left this season in twenty one games at home this season now I'm not a math wizard Chris I would to Columbia College Columbia University you don't have to tell people that to say Columbia I went to Columbia.

"And you've got a two hundred eight quality contact was extraordinarily. I'm extremely disappointed. When this, you know, we, we don't really talk about Castanos the way with divide and carpenter. But it's kinda the same not eating for power is not knocking anybody 'cause nobody on base for them, not a Walker. Not gonna forever and defensively my God. Did you see that play this weekend? Like there's just nothing there. So like Laurino had a good week. I probably missed the good week and we'll get it. Anyway, lots of names get to before we move on. So I'll go briefly here. Bauer shut out the Troy is more about Bauer or the Tigers. I'm going to say that's more about Bauer but I could see the case because if you said to me who which right handed pitcher, could do it reused on for the last two and a half months. Now can do that baron had that Chris Medlen second half. Yeah. He could. Yeah. Dominant righty, who strikes, everybody out and relax tonight looks amazing. I hate saying he's going to get hurt. I think you'll fall sort of thirty starts because the dodgers, don't need him to make thirty. They have a ten game lead. But man looks site. That's the Cy Young winner. He's gonna end up like seventeen and four with a one eight year or a and win the Cy Young. That's what I think's going to happen over, like twenty eight starts to your point about the dodgers. They are considering throwing a guy in there this week. So it does signal. They're always thinking about giving extra rest of their pitchers going back to the Indians because I wrote this forecaster. I wonder whether the return of Mike cleven jer coupled with what's in outrageously? Good hitting schedule could begin to build some team wide momentum there. And if that is the case that could also be what sparks Bowers hot streak. I, I have nothing to quantify that, but what if they're like a game out of the wildcard, they're not giving up. That'd be. I'm not. Yeah. And I'm not suggesting that they would give up. It's just that this is a perfect opportunity for them to begin role in that big snowball down the hill. All right. Injuries Noah Syndergaard with a right hamstring strain. It doesn't sound too serious. They have no reasonable replacement. So I think it's only probably one week and then by next weekend, he's probably back again. You do not drop. Syndergaard in. Any league. I don't think Kyle Hendricks right shoulder inflammation. That's a little bit different. Not a leg. He goes on the injured list, they're saying with him also probably only one start if you've been relying Hendrix, you should continue to, but advert as little Alzola, young right-hander, skinny Ryan or could make his debut Corby Tyler shower for Kyle sake. But like I would like to see what he can do any thoughts on these guys LA was pretty disappointing last year. And also dealt with some injuries, but it's been a lot sharper AAA. So I think he's an interesting arm and considering out tough. It is to fill the pitching spots this year certainly worth a flyer not in our standard game. But in anything, deeper really hundred pants and no members have MRI appointments for today for leg injuries Pence's groin. Czars a hamstring. I think I'd rather roster Pence. The Missouri, wouldn't you? I know it's crazy because of his age. But as ours, having another one of those boring twenty home run seasons where the two six. Batting averages. Nobody's expect anything's going to change. Well Pez already fifteen home runs and his batting three hundred. Now they're both going on the injured list. I think Willie Calhoun will come up your thoughts here. If I said to you Pence Mazaar Willie Calhoun for the rest of the season would hurt rusher cheese. Well, that's a fair. Drop either of those guys everywhere. And that's that I've had one league. It's Chris Taylor. I couldn't get anybody else. I got outbid another league. "Night. It was the Kyle Hendricks show cubs right hander. Soft tossed his way through the reds lineup through eight innings of baseball. Allowing one run in just three hits. He then collected three hits himself, including the the big hit of the night in a cubs. Three one win reds try to bounce back in even the series tonight. Lot to get to between now and the first pitch who better to turn to though is our leadoff hitter. He's got a good. I at the plate. He has played discipline. He heads up the reds community fund. The is checking in on the acute hearing centers dot com hotline. That would be Charley Frank. How are you? I'm doing well, Lance and appreciate the plate discipline. I think my death may have. Yes. Understood. Let's you've always got so many cool things going on with the rates community fund. Let's start with the the baseball and softball camps. The the instruction the the opportunity to learn is off the charts in love, the fact, your footprint is all over reds country with this thing. Yeah. You know, we're we're so proud this is year eight somehow in these camps, and we work with a guy that ran the bull socks academy in Chicago for almost two decades, Tim repay, and if if you pretended one of the reds baseball camps experiences, you know, that name he is he he was a former reds draft pick from back in the day. But he he just doesn't extraordinary job putting these together. He now does it for three other MLB teams. It's a week long six hours a day, thirty hours of instruction one day. Great American ballpark. You start by getting a full red uniform. But most importantly, it's outstanding instruction for six to fourteen year olds and. You get a chance to again be in the reds dugout and have your final day at great American ballpark on the field. So it's it's a great marketing event. But also, it's just a great baseball and softball experience for kids and truly for more information easy as reds dot com slash camps. Correct. That's correct. Lots of great information may twenty seven th we have two of our camps kicking off one in high school and northern Kentucky and one at our Fabius reds youth academy in Roselawn on the Ohio side. So that's just the the first of two and you can find out all that red sock com slash camps. Let's move ahead to may thirtieth or no my my wife, killing her friend, Debbie you're excited. They're going to be an attendance. It's a night of their own baseball one. Oh one. This is this is growing into it gets bigger every year. And I know it's a big hit with the winner. It really is. I mean and last year was the first time that we encountered a little bit of rain. It had absolutely no bearing on the mood of the ladies who were there. There's such a great group agus. They're so appreciative of the access to the coaches to the broadcasters. You can only imagine what the session with Marty Brennaman feet up and holding court is like we we have a lot of women that go through two or three times to keep moving on. But they they they get so much, you know, again, firsthand access to things in place. At the ballpark that you typically wouldn't I don't know if there's any event in my fifteen plus years here that that really is is so inclusive of the entire ballpark experience. And it's a rare night off and for David bell and our coaching staff, and and dick Williams and Nick crawl on our baseball staff to all be here hosting different sessions. And so many of the broadcasters being here to host some of of they're really fun activities. But yeah, it splits into two groups are either on the field or you're up on the club level. There's a great meal, and there's an auction and rain or shine, man. This thing is an absolute blast. I can't believe I'm talking to you about this next event. I think for the eighteenth consecutive Europe. I have my numbers right on my can you believe red legs run is back again, and it's June eight it is and it's a perfect window for typically relate may early June. Our numbers, look good. We're on. We'll be over three thousand walkers. And runners what we love about this event lands. First of all you end inside the ballpark. So if you're. Reds fan. Doesn't matter. Whether you're a serious runner or a Walker. It's so much fun to be on the warning track to walk around the infield and a great way to end any race. But we we take the running part seriously to there's a ten K five K, a family one mile event, and our gap is kids fun run around the warning track to finishing medals. Thanks trophy awards over in wilder are sensational. The the t shirts are great recovery area. None better all the food, and that Kevi live music it. It is just a great baseball scene. Festivals can build around a fitness event and Sarah Ingram who is are simply remarkable events coordinator at the community fund has added. Some new features this your land. So there is there's free on course, photography there. There's some really new exciting bells and whistles that that Sarah's bringing to the event this year. She makes it interesting at fresh every year for people that have done this. I think they would attest. This is one of the better events of its kind. Reds dot com slash run for all your information. And this next one. I I like this is a new twist everybody loves split. The pot at great American ballpark. Now, literally any everyone has a chance at it. Explain we're so excited about this Lance like you said, I mean, not just a reds games. But, you know, virtually, you know, any church festival elder football. I mean, it's such a steeple here in the city and has been for long long before we ever jumped in..

"Jesse Rogers joins us now from the natty Jesse stay away from skyline. Don't get sick kid. And don't forget Kyle Schwartz from the area. That's a lot lot lot of famous or infamous people. If you to put it that way when you talk about Jordan cornet. So let's talk about this team going into tonight. Kyle Hendricks goes to the hill. Wise this team turning things around to the degree. They are where since the one in six two and seven start. They're the best team in baseball. Is it starting pitching? Is it bullpen? What is it? Now. It's definitely starting pitching. But I mean bullpen gets a little, you know, kudos as well. For sure they've got obviously hold hold some leads and keep some tiger. We saw Saturday. But I remember talking to Kyle Hendricks after that terrible start. And he said it's on us, and I meant and I asked him what do you mean by that? Who's us the team the players? He's no starting staff, and then he mentioned that relievers as well as a group, but he started with himself and his other four starters and what he meant by. That is just stop walking people. Everybody was walking everybody. The bullpen was walking guys. Starting staff was walking guys all of a sudden they stopped walking guys. And you see what they're doing batting, average wise. I mean, I think they're at Wrigley field giving up. It's like two hundred average against something like that something really insane. And look at the success that followed. So I think it's a huge key in this game today, don't walk people. Because as I've said million times, the three Homer will kill you the solo shot won't know, you go to John Lester, I thought he would be giving up some solo home runs here. And they're not even giving up home runs. He's given up nothing. So now, you're getting performances above and beyond what you thought and and just in terms of Darvish for example, pitches tomorrow, at least he's not worse than last year. Right. At least he's giving us something even though it's not very good at all. But there are moments where you know against the Marlins you had a good outing. And you see some progress even though it's very slow so four guys going pretty well one. But it's enough to turn the whole thing around. And that's what's happening. Just gotta ask you curious here, you're taking maybe already addressed it as it came out yesterday on Waddle and Silvy we're Coen ravages comments surprised Capt. Surprised me as much, but the ravages words were there's a desire from the cubs front office to insert Addison Russell back into the shortstop position with the ability to float AVI by his around the infield. What's your take on that? Yeah. I did not hear the interview. Obviously, I heard the aftermath if he was talking about this season. That's surprising to me if he's talking about future seasons. Not it's not that surprising. You know? It's just talk. I mean, we're not there yet. I'm surprised they'd even articulate anything about future seasons with that Russell. So that's why I feel like maybe they would just shooting the the you know what? But you know, internally about the future, you know, who knows if Bryant moves on. They don't have a steady third base then and they don't feel like Bali can play every day there. Maybe by would start hopping around a little bit. But for this season. I would be surprised. I would be surprised they have enough in the infield to cover with Brian boaty if Sobers returns scowl, so so I would be surprised to disrupt with biases brought to table. Now. The reason excuse me, it's not completely insane in the past. When he was the guy that did float around. They would position present position him at second or third based on the opponent. They're starting pitcher where they thought the ball was going to go the most. So there might be gazed. If let's say this is true in the future next year that they put him at short because that's where they think the most ground balls are gonna go there might be day. They think the most they're going to a third. That's what he'll start second. That's real start. That is a possibility in the future. I'd be surprised if they did it this year. If you look at the lineup the way it should be on a again, chose never going to have a set line of do you like Jason Heyward in center? Kris Bryant one of the outfield spots and David Bodey in the infield. Where are you on Bryant? I know he moves around. I prefer the feel. I don't mind it either way. But I especially don't mind him in the outfield because at some point you have to look at slugging. Right. That's the big word slugging percentage, and when you start Hayward, and if right now, it's been great. But the average has come down. Right. It has. Yes. Yeah. So when you start Hayward Elmore and Schwab, and none of those three are on a hot streak that's kind of a week outfield. We saw that a lot last year. And at times, you'll see it this year. More hasn't gone off to really hot start. Hayward was now cooled off swerver. I mean, we can do two hours on what's going on with him up and down up and down. So there are times where you. Have to get Bodey in the lineup for the slug capability because we know he hits the ball hard. You get Brian in the outfield that adds slug out there. So that's why I absolutely don't mind Bryan out there. But I don't mind it either way just depends on the opponent depends on the match up. And I don't think bodies quite there to play every day just yet, but he's gonna play more without zobrist around. So I liked that Bryant has that ability to move around. I thought he played great at first on a kind of cold night and everything got that double play in the first inning. How versatile is that guy? Been I third left, right? And I'm sure he could play center if you if I know he's played center just not really at the major league level much. So either way cap where whatever's best for the team, I think is is good for Bryant. But you gotta get some slug out there when those three guys aren't going while those three I mentioned, I know we're so far removed so far away from the trade deadline, but it's kind of the elephant in the room with these cubs in terms of trying to locate this closer, again understanding that we're I mean, we're not even to I don't even know what it is. Early may rise mid may may fourteenth. Is there anybody that you can this far out say, hey, maybe this is somebody to to keep in a stream of consciousness, this might be where they look as names Craig kimbrel. I don't feel like it's kimbro. So can can you steer as best as you? Can't what you think could be the play here. Just well, I already wrote this, and I just love the guy. So I'm a little biased and he's in town. I like outs cola may not a little but a lot. I thought the cubs could go for a couple years ago. The deadline when the rays were going back, and then the socks sent nothing to the to the Mariners to get cola mate whose off to a good start. And it's a great example guys of what a closer is worth in the winter compared to delight thirty. I I believe it was a rule five pick the socks seminar Narvaez who's not a bad player. But that's who they sent to Seattle for Colmey while the cubs had to trade glider Torres in July, Veraldi's Chapman, it tells you. That's why. I agree with the thinking we can always add the bullpen. But it gets so expensive in July compared to December. Why not just add in December? And yes, it takes away from your your budget and stuff. But you know, it's a need, you know, it's going to be a need. So why not get the need now? And I mean, I guess it's a little bit of roll of dice when you take away from your July budgets because that's the thing. They definitely hold back money for July. But I say when you know, the closer need is there in March or December January, and you know, it's going to be there in July. Why not get that closer at a cheaper price? I'm sure THEO would have a good response to that. But I love coal may. I don't know if he's on the cubs radar. He's making seven million, but by July thirty first it's down to what to three million. So I think they could afford them at that point. But I try to jump the market as soon as you can there's no timetable for moral Strope is in and out. I'd absolutely try to jump that market. But it's not easy because most teams hold onto those guys in mid to late. I'm here at kimbrough's price. Came down to three years instead of six forty five instead of a hundred and obviously year once pro rated I think that falls right in line with what the cubs might do because they get money back on brand immoral from insurance. Yeah. Maybe maybe I their their history has been let's just fill that need right now. Davis was a one year guy not three years. Moral was to granted that was two. So their history hasn't been to to grab a guy at that position and signed him for three years. And the thing is there's a little bit of a logjam for the first time in a while. They have some prospects coming up that are tradable. I still think might Montgomery will be gone by July. Thirty first stats could be a real tradeable not prospect, but player because he's rebuilding his value. It looks like Russell is gonna stay 'cause they have that need up the middle. But there are other other guys that could be on the move. So maybe we've talked about a cap swerver Montgomery that those are nice pieces to trade for. Closer. That's a lot to trade for closer. But you may not be wrong. It's just not their history to sign a guy in that position for two three four years. Just everything's great. With the cubs. There's not much to be critical of right now. But there's a small concern and intensity. Rizzo's back. Is this something that should have cubs fans worried? You know, he missed games last year with it. It's beginning to creep back up a little bit. What's the status of Anthony? Yeah. Every year. I start to worry about it a little bit more because he's a year older. Yeah. But right now, no indication it's anything more serious than in the past now in two three four years. You would think that, you know, in his mid thirties something like that would be more serious as of this moment, and maybe cap you got the pipeline to them. I've heard it's unclear if he's going to play tonight. So maybe they're going to test the back that would make sense when it gets to the park, and then decide so as of this moment it's unclear. I've not heard anything about an IL stint or anything like that, Jordan. So I would say no no more than in the past. But at some point at an older age, I think you'd have to start to worry when it when it tightens up that it just going to keep him out longer..

"That would be Kyle Hendricks went on Monday. You'll have less hamels LeicesteR here on Monday Lester would pick he pitched on Wednesday. So Thursday Friday, so yeah. Monday, correct. Scott nice. You got a nice stretch guys here. So you give you you'd like to think starting pitching second. Go round will be sharper. The bats are what they've been. It's really just this bullpen did that wacky game. With the Air's. That's out of their system. You know, what I'm gonna go back. I'm gonna flip. I said they don't get swept in Milwaukee. I think they'll get a win. They'll get one win. I don't know where it's going to come. But they're gonna come out of there with one winning. I don't think they win the series. I give it no chance that's an ocean. Danny giving them a shot to win the series. No shot. I it. It hurts. I give them no shot to win the series in a walkie. I'm sorry Milwaukee's playing. So well here here's the thing. It's to if you beat the brewers it's going to be by a narrow margin. You need a bull in to get you through winning a one run to run game and less the bats explode, which the cubs seem capable of this year. And Joe Madden. Actually, let's. Starting pitcher go deep if the starting pitcher has some stuff if it goes to the bullpen the cubs have no shot at times. Hamilton you've got Hendrix. She got a good shot. Quality start there. "Kyle Hendricks to have. First of all pitch more not be injured. And I'd like to see him assume more of the the workload from that wrote that rotation. So in a way, he is kind of the Lynch pin? But you've got a so many moving parts there. You're relying on to veterans Lester and hamels to solidify rotation. Yeah. Agree, Danny, gentlemen. Let's move onto the association. The Lakers lost by forty two points to the Pacers last night. That is the worst loss of LeBron James career and the same day Los Angeles pulls out of the Anthony Davis trae talks. So I asked you gentlemen, shot or no shot. Lebron James goes for making eight straight NBA finals to not making the NBA playoffs. Oh, it is possible shot because the one thing that I would point out is that the Sacramento Kings are playing really well. And the reason I point them out is their ninth. They're a game and a half up on the Lakers right now. And I don't see the kings getting worse at any point to finish out the season. So I think Sacramento is in the driver's seat. I know how great LeBron is. But if there's dysfunction and the players that were going to be traded. Don't get traded. You don't know what you're to get from Brandon Ingram Macau coups Ma the rest of the way through if you need them for the playoff run. And they know that they are on the trade bloc. They know that the moment free agency in the summer hits. They're out of town. Why would they commit everything they could fill LeBron James when he's trying to ship them out. It's an absolute shot L. Lebron can miss the playoffs this year. All right. I I hear where you're coming. I'm going to say no shot on this one. I'm going to say the Lakers are in the spot. They are right now by and large because LeBron has been injured quite a bit. It and I'm going to Bank that he is healthier the second half the post all-star break schedule, the eight spot there is currently held by the clippers.
