"They get me excited about how players feel about a team or a teammate. Sound bite king. Sound biting, yeah. Van noy had a quote about staley and I don't know whether it was like about whether Sean Payton McGowan. It was some sort of something with a coach. And he had this passionate paragraph long quote about what an awesome coach Brandon staley is and it makes him mad and people don't realize he cares about every single person in this locker room. And I was like, that's a good sign. There's something because this guy was supposed to be a defensive girl and their defense has been pretty bad. The entire time he's been there. But at least if van noy is impressed by him, I like that. And I think the way they talk about Herbert as a team and as a coaching staff, it's like they revere Herbert. Every week you hear stuff like that guy is just he's a freak. He's amazing. It's all the stuff you want to hear if you're a great quarterback. We got a wild card entrance survey for the NFL staff gone up on the ringer and one of the questions was like, what coach has the most to prove going into this playoffs and it's unequivocally a 100% Brandon staley. You can't have these players and particularly this quarterback. Fail to make a playoffs last year. Make it this year and then lose to a 9 and a Jaguars team. You can't. I am as big of a Brandon staley defender as you'll find. We prove for the puddings and eaten. You can not have a quarterback this good and not win playoff games. So it is. They just can't beat themselves. Just don't beat yourself. Just steer the ship, note them turnovers, note them fourth and one, fourth and one and a half, where you run the full back dive, none of that shit. All right, last game. By the way, a couple of gambling rules for that game. Discount rule number 9, discount anything that happened in the first 5 to 6 weeks of the season. Just throw that out. We're doing that here. Rule number 12, but where have any team that celebrated the previous weekend's victory like it had won the Super Bowl? Borderline Jags. All right, settle down, guys. You beat Josh Dobbs. He wasn't in the league 17 days ago. Nice win. Congrats. SHAD and Omar Khan and Tony Khan and kind of having a big celebration with odors. Okay, guys, this is a game. Week 19s coming up. All right, last one, we have the ravens and the Bengals, and I hate this line. It looks like Huntley's playing. I don't know why the line is in 6. We're getting an extra four points with the Bengal without ravens here. It's plus ten. So this would violate rule number 6, never pick an underdog unless you genuinely believe that it has a chance to win. On the bright side, rule number ten, when in doubt, gravitate toward one pick that would screw over the most gamblers and experts and definitely go against the single worst game where you know, which is a Bengals tease, which I think everybody had this week. Right. Rule number 11 is don't talk yourself into a terrible QB ever for any reason. I don't think Huntley's terrible, but he's also not good. Huntley's stats are alarming. His last 7 games, they have not scored 20 points in any of the last 7 starts he's had. 1913, ten, 16, three, 17, and 13. They're 23rd offense, DB away without Lamar. They've only scored 6 touchdowns. There's a lot of reasons to think Bengals Bengals Bengals. I am concerned about two things, Ben solak. One, division rivalry, the ravens, it's just always 13 to 9, heading in the fourth quarter. Just always is. That's one. Should we be more concerned that the Bengals lost the right side of their line? Feels like that's something. Certainly not nothing. The Tyler Huntley stepping in for Lamar. And I agree that he hasn't been terrible. But one of the things we have to remember is usually when backup quarterbacks enter offenses, there are existing pieces in place to help that man. And that is not that. Huntley and brown's games serve as such a stark reminder of how much this ship is built out of Lamar. This is Lamar or busted. Greg Roman is not elevating. Even Mark Andrews, who's like good, just has his drops where you're like, dude, come on. It's the backup with you have to catch it. This is killing us. They're cut into Sean Jackson to sign Sammy Watkins. That's as dire of straits as it gets in 2022. So yeah, could Huntley have a good enough game? Yes, but like the ravens offense itself isn't enough to me like warrant any interest. What does warrant interest is this ravens defense, as you say, against the Joe burrow Bengals. Burrow has had 5 games this season with a negative EPA per drop back. So you did 5 generally bad games throwing the football. Two of them have been against the ravens. We 5, which is in your 5 to 6 week stretch of this doesn't really matter. And then in week 18, where we take team was by e-paper drop back, his second worst game of the season. And this is with Raymond's rings that Daryl warrey worley out there, just didn't even know he was still in the league and he's playing outside corner and getting mosh by Jamar chase, right? The ravens hired a new D.C. this year. Mike McDonald, he was on the staff previously, and he was the D.C. at Michigan. And they got rid of Wink Martindale, martindale was all blitz, man coverage. Joe burrow just ate that up. It alive. This year it's faked the blitz, occasionally send a blitz, drop a guy into coverage, they play a ton of zone, and they have an in roquan Smith. A player who really just ties everything together. Awesome trade. They fucking love Roxanne Smith. It is, I love the trade so much because one, I love Rogue One, he's a great player and I was in a really good defense. And he's helping so much. And two, because the nerds hated it because it was a trade for a linebacker. That's supposed to overvalue position. And then they paid him $20 million. And everybody's curious. The fact that they got a second rounder than wasted wood on Chase claypool. Brilliant. That's good. Rope one with roquan off the field. They're 30th in e-paper play aloud with him on the field there first. They're on like 15th and DVA defensively like second. I test he's awesome. He's all over the place. It's so very clear. In terms of impact, range of the field that he occupies and also critically being a rising tide being a centerpiece, him playing Mike, moves Patrick queen out of Mike and Patrick Wayne, who's fast and physical and an aggressive and has a lot of good to him. His struggles with play recognition struggles with ID struggles with the mental aspect of the game. So you put rope one in there and then it knocks Patrick queen to weak side. He's been much better so much better since Rogan's gotten there. And because you have two linebackers on the field you like, you're now playing nickel all the time, which means Kyle Hamilton, your first round pick, he's played slot corner. He has been a primary slot corner for them since the rope on trade.

"That's how good it was. You know? It almost kills you, but you just love it. It's true. So I'm sorry, we were talking about the massive weight loss of the bills offensive lineman after Miami. It's just gonna be because I tend to, you know, just put a little asterisk next to teams coming off massive snap counts on the defensive side of the ball. And this will be interesting to see, you know, they certainly stylistically play in a fashion where you don't need your offensive line to absolutely dominate in this game. You have a quarterback who obviously solves a lot of problems. And you like to throw the ball around. And I think they have done such a good job of winning with off script stuff to the point where I was really, I've been really impressed with Isaac McKenzie we knew could do that. It was gonna be a big part of that. Devin Singletary, I think, impressed me a lot in terms of, I think he's better understanding when Josh Allen is on the move. How can I make myself more useful? And how can I make myself more valuable to the offense? And I think with a sort of really smartly paired check down option that is going to be as dynamic as Josh elm. Like if you can fit in that role and be that guy, I remember just thinking like ladainian Tomlinson used to be so good at that. I mean, that's part of the reason that it made him such a good player. And I'm not comparing the two of them. So stop it. But, you know, I think that that is trouble against a relatively young secondary, especially, you know, and Kyle Hamilton had a good game last week, but some of these guys are going to have to be forced to cover a lot. And Ken Dorsey has proven that even without Brian Abel, he can get those match ups, he can get these guys in space. It's going to be a tough assignment. It's been a really interesting sort of evolution of this offense here, because look, you said it early in the preseason, you know, everyone's going to be looking for the check down, guys. With all these split safety looks, all these conservative secondaries, it's going to be the year of the check down. And we've seen that in some places where it's already kind of become predictable. You know, we talked about this a little bit about the Sunday Night game and you have a quarterback in Denver who is kind of chosen to frequently check down, but has also strangely not taken advantage of opportunities to run for large chunks of yards.

"MO for years was, you know, our system will make these receivers good. And I think we're maybe getting back to that a little bit at this point, except for the half of the league that is giving up tremendous amounts of money and draft capital to get these guys. Right, there is certainly a divide and I think the market went a little haywire there. Which is causing ravens fans to react. But I would encourage your teams because again, everyone's saying, well, you can't, you can't replicate this, but you don't need to. What you need to do is you need to look at your roster and you just need to double and triple down on the things that you do best. And that gives you the ability to do it Baltimore is doing now. So let's flush this thing out. Third tier, the draft this year, they have two first round picks, and what do they do? Cornerback is another premium market that's going through the roof. Derek stingley got taken third. So the best cornerback in the draft is third. Baltimore needs help in coverage. So what do they do? Their first first round pick they take a safety. They spent their most money in free agency on another safety Marcus Williams. Who is going to come in about 10 million less than your number one cover corner in the NFL? But you've designed the things, much like they're doing with tight ends and they're passing game, you design your coverages to feature to be safety heavy, right, to be safety driven. So now you've Marcus Williams and Kyle Hamilton, Kyle Hamilton might have been one of the best players in the draft. I mean, you and I had him going third or fourth in the mock draft that we did, I think, on this show. And so what you're doing is Kyle Hamilton is just making mediocre cornerbacks better instead of having really good expense of cornerbacks making your mediocre safety's better. Than they did that with Tyler linderbaum, the center, maybe one of the best center prospects we've seen come through the draft in like ten years. And so Tyler linderbaum is going to make your average guards better instead of your left tackle and right tackle who are the most expensive thing, making your guards and centers better, right? And so it can work both ways. And for people who say it can't, look what the colts are doing. The colts didn't draft a left tackle this year because they have quint Nelson, right? They're like, hey, he's gonna help figure that out. We watch the Chargers try to contend for a playoff spot last year. And they had, I think it was what Trey pipkins at left tackle and one of the most critical games of the season, but you had Matt filer guard, who was picking up the slack. And I think that it's a cool thing out there because okay, left tackles are gonna cost $23 million a year. The best paid center in the NFL is, I don't know. What would you say? Guess what I look it up. I will guess 14 million. 12 5. Okay. 13.5. Oh, all right. Who is it? Frank Ragnar of all people. Yeah? Ryan Kelly, Corey linsley and 12 5. You know, Rodney Hudson's at ten. Mitch Morse 9.75. Jason Kelsey at 9. That's crazy value, right? It is. And the other thing is, look, if you go back to the pre Mitch Morse bills. And I realize other stuff went on there that allowed that often to take off. But the things they can do with Mitch Morse, which, you know, you can do a lot of similar things with Tyler linderbaum, theoretically, assuming he ends up being the kind of player that he is projected to be. It gives you some many more options than you have with just sort of a typical guy at the pivot. I think that's going to be he's a potential difference maker for that defense. Or excuse me for that offense. And I do want to talk about just the safeties for a little bit because look, if you go back 5, 6 years, what was the trend in the league? It was single high. It was Seattle style. Everyone wanted those types of dudes. And by the way, when Seattle started loading up on all those cornerbacks who are, you know, they didn't want the fast guys, they wanted the 6 foot two guys with the 34 inch arms, spaghetti men, baby spaghetti men, some might say. That was an inefficiency. And that's why it worked back then. And that's why it worked less and less going forward when everyone started looking for those guys. And the market basically became too expensive for them. But in like three years, right now it's all about these split safety looks. In three years, it might not be. I mean, you could argue that it probably won't be that. And you're gonna want some sort of versatility in the guys you have. And certainly in Kyle Hamilton, yes, he is a safety, but you can do so many different things with him in your defense. And there's kind of that whatever it sits, it's the classic clash of sort of approaches, do you want a kind of consistent simplistic defense where you can plug guys in right away and sort of hit the ground running, or do you want to build something out that's maybe a little more complex, maybe takes stick in these guys together for a couple of years. I would think the long-term payoff of having a guy like Hamilton who has that kind of flexibility in the lineup is going to really show up. Even if it doesn't show up entirely early in his career, although certainly whatever, yeah, playing with some split high looks. He'll do fine. Yeah. And here's the regret of it all, right? Because like you mentioned with Seattle, they went for an inefficiency. And they hammered it, and they cornered the market, and then everybody, everybody got on board. I'm thinking about all the teams that had the opportunity to do this. And then didn't do it. And the one that I think that you and I, well, let's see how good of a wavelength we're on because we complained about this team not doing something very particular for like two years and now it's impossible. Do you know what I'm talking about? Oh man, I don't, and I feel like a terrible friend and podcast host right now. The Arizona Cardinals not taking not just going receiver receiver receivers. All right. All right. I'm with you. Yeah, sorry. So if you looked at, you know, you were going to do some version of air raid, right? You knew you were going to run four wide more than any team in the NFL. And why weren't you, you know, I was just looking back at free agency 2018, 2019, 2020, you know, you could have players now, same caliber players who are going for, I mean, hunt to rent froze making $16 million a year. You could have had hunter renfrow ish, hunter Renfro lite for four and a half back then. You could have had 6 hunter Renfro for the cost of one hunter and for now. You know, hunter Renfro has become the avocado, right? Now he's a very expensive. When you could have just been having tons of delicious avocados for nothing back then. Filled up the freezer with avocados. Who else are we missing? Right? I mean, the Cardinals tried to build something that was cool and that was different. So why don't you double down on wide receivers? You're seeing it now with the forty-niners, right? Taking a lot of running backs. A lot of these teams, you know, you should just, you should identify what you're good at, you should triple down on it. Steve sable, the legend of NFL films, interviewed him once in his mount Laurel office, and he said, Connor, if you like something, by 6. He said, that was my best piece of advice. And I think that would be my best piece of advice for NFL teams, too. If you're good at something, buy 6. If you like lanky, rangy cornerbacks with long arms, buy 6 because two are going to get injured. One of them is going to get traded and.

"Little bit on the quarterbacks, big array feel and Jim Garoppolo is still out there and maybe a little bit of tyrann Mathieu at the end of the show, but here we go. You are, gosh, I don't know how this happened to you. And I feel a little bit bad, but I feel like you also do a good job with it, but you are a draft grade sky. At the MMT. And you wrote draft grades for all 32 teams. We put them out on Saturday, but I do want to run through some of the classes that you that you really liked and why at this point. And I guess we'll start up top. You gave out two a pluses, and we'll start with the Baltimore Ravens. Yeah, I mean, I just, I don't see a cogent argument anywhere from anyone else on why this isn't far and away the number one draft class. A granted Baltimore's team specific, right? There are already a good team. So they're already a good team that got maybe the best safety prospect that's come out in 5 years. The best center prospect that's come out in God, I have no idea. A long time. And then to get David ajabo, who's gonna, at some point, contribute, right? And was a borderline top 15 pick in the second round. Travis Jones, who we talked about as a first round pick real beastly sort of space eating tackle and then our guy Daniel fought a Lele from Minnesota who I don't think would work anywhere else, but think about him as like a 6th tackle or a 6th offensive lineman and that Raven's offense and moving him around. He's gonna destroy people like this was it was just a phenomenal job and you know, I get it that we overweight classes where it's like this team took 6 people I heard of, you know and but you know I really think they did a nice job. So I'm gonna bring up two things with this draft class and sadly I agree with you on everything here. But the eagles jumped ahead of them to get Jordan Davis. Yeah. And then all of a sudden down and pick 76, the ravens get Travis Jones anyway and Jones is not Jordan Davis, but he has a Yukon pedigree and that means something at NFL. And he's gonna be he's gonna be a fine player here. So it's almost like if you went to the ravens that said, well, you can have Jordan Davis and whatever safety number 7 off the board or whatever it would be, or you can have Kyle Hamilton and Travis Jones, I think you quite obviously take the ladder. Yeah, I think the win there is in the aggregate, right? And again, again, nobody is saying that any of the Georgia guys are worse than the Yukon player. But what I am saying is that there's an element of the unknown in Georgia because we have yet to pluck all these players apart, right? We have yet to pull them all apart and play them in a defense that isn't run by Kirby smart who I would guess if you put him in the NFL would be one of the three or four best defensive coordinators in the NFL. Do you think that's fair to say? Yeah, I'll go with that. So because it reminds me of, was it the Clemson defense that got way overdrafted that year? The Cleveland Farrell year. Yeah, it was kind of a couple of years. The Shaq Lawson and Kevin Dodd before that, they've had a lot of sort of high pedigree guys, not quite work out the next level. Yeah, and you know, I think it's not because of any one particular reason, right? But it's like, you know, I think their strength was in the fact that they were kind of all together, right? And what was it, right? It was the year the Cleveland Farrell year was Cleveland Farrell, Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, back to all in the top 20. And so it's like, okay, you know, maybe that's the same kind of deal with the with Georgia, where you don't know whereas Travis Jones. I mean, you know, you're playing Purdue and it's like the fourth quarter and you're the only guy, you know? And everyone knows it. And you're getting doubled and tripled and it probably really is an unpleasant experience. And you know, they just, I thought he played really well, things considered. My burner account is saying that the Yukon guy is better than the Georgia guys, but it's probably about it. I'm just gonna throw one thing out there about this draft class because obviously we want to talk about the specialists. My secret take that I never spoke aloud and I'm a coward and I will take your barbs and insults here. But Jordan stout was by far the best punter in the draft to me. But everyone was so into Matt eraser, the punt God that I got. And look, his nickname's the punt God, you can't really argue with that, but I kind of shrugged my shoulders and was just like, oh, I don't know, I guess I'm wrong on it. I thought stout was the better directional punter. I thought he was, he did it in the elements as opposed to the thin air out in Colorado and the mountain west, but yeah, Jordan stout first punter off the board. Those are the ravens, great pickup there for the ravens. I do agree that there is a there is some sort of inherent value on identifying specialists via the draft and developing them. Because there is that not premium, but it's an annoyance, right? Whereas a lot of teams just go buy that old axiom where you take like 9 of them to camp with you and then screw it. You know, one of them has got to work and then you cut the rest of them. But I do think there is an inherent value in not having to battle with or overpay for kickers. I mean, that really changed a lot of things during COVID, right? Where a lot of teams weren't doing that anymore. And so they had to look into the college market a little bit. But yeah, no, you're right. I mean, and if John Harbaugh drafts a punter, I'm assuming he's a really, really good punter. And just one more note on the back end of that class. Isaiah likely, who I know that we were like, meh on hot and cold on, but as like the Raven's third tight end, hell yeah. Give me that any day of the week. And they're going to line up, they're going to two and three tight end you to death. And I just love it. I love it when a team just full heartedly warmly embraces who they are. And this draft is just such a Raven strath. And I think that's why I liked it so much. Let's go on to the eagles, the other a plus team here, and AJ browns, the headliner, but lots of good stuff besides AJ Brown. Yeah, so can I, so I don't know where the best place to do this is, but I wrote a column praising Howie roseman and it had occurred to me like a couple hours after the draft that I guess I owe the readers an apology or I have sort of like misrepresented myself, which is an interesting thing to do. So do you remember when the eagles so I said Howie Rosen was the executive of this draft. He destroyed it. I don't think there's any other way around that. I think he has been manipulating the drafts, the early round draft capital better than anybody except for maybe the ravens. Over the last like two or three years. But I was so intensely critical of him for tanking that game against the Washington commander's team. Remember that? Yep. And I don't think a lot of what happened is possible without moving up as far as you did. And I did not even think about that as a footnote in the column praising Howie roseman until afterwards, and I don't know if you could throw that back in. I went back into the column to add a good risk reference, but I did not think of I did not think of that..

"Back to the jungle Sean Pendergast with you. On a labor Day Monday. Hope you having a great long weekend. Good to be with you Plenty of football to get into. If you wanna grab a line, 855 to 1 to four. CBS if you want to get in 855212. 4227. We are efforting Steve Berlin, former NFL quarterback When we, uh when we find him, we will put him up and we'll chat some some NFL football in in just a few minutes, um, jumping back over to college football from the weekend. I mean, there were a lot of storylines. I only really got into the Notre Dame game from last night in the open, cause I was so fired up about it. Everybody still fired up about Brian Kelly's poor delivery of a John McKay line. Um But I fail to point out that we we learned once again. It's just Alabama's world and we're living in it. I thought field Yates of ESPN dot com had a pretty poignant tweet about this over the weekend. Because I think there's a lot of teams out there that we're hopeful, you know, kind of lurking in that next layer below Ohio State and Alabama and Clemson. Couple other teams replacing quarterbacks. Notre Dame's replacing their quarterback going. Hey, you know what this might be The year we we might be able to sneak in. We might be able to get Alabama this year. Yeah. And field. Yates tweeted. So Alabama lost the Heisman Trophy winner, another first round wide receiver, a first round quarterback and running back. Drafted offensive. Three drafted offensive lineman from the best online in football. A first round cornerback the M V P of the national championship. The top assistant coach in college football. And they just come back like it's like nothing happened. They just come back like nothing happened. That's exactly what they did. On Saturday. They They took. They took Miami to the wood shed on Saturday. And it was it was over in the first five minutes. That's that's the thing about dominant teams like that, like you get geared up to watch it all day. Like I was super excited to watch. Alabama and Miami. If nothing else, watching those two uniforms running around in the same field for the first, I think for the first time since they played each other in the national championship game back in the early nineties. Back in old Spider. It was an old school Gino Torretta joint back in the day. And so I was excited, You know, maybe who knows? Maybe Derek King makes a few plays. Maybe Miami hangs around and it's a fun Saturday afternoon. I mean, after all, Bill O'Brien is calling the place for Alabama now. Maybe their offense starts to look a little bit like the Texans offenses did with Bill O Brien running them in Houston. No, no, no, no, not so fast. Not so fast. My friend Alabama game was over in the 1st 10 minutes by halftime. It's 27 nothing. My favorite part of the game. My favorite part of the game was when it was 27 nothing. In Alabama cause the turnover You know, they've got that turnover chain. That they've been using, like the last five years to celebrate turnovers. And by the way, I like I'm not anti prop. I think you know whatever you need to do, especially cause that was in Miami team that was kind of rebuilding at the time. So you need to get some inanimate objects that feel like they're carrots that you're hanging out there that you're dangling out there for the players, so every time we get a turnover, whoever got the turnover gets to wear the turnover chain. There's just It's just funny to me. When they're down 27 nothing and they're celebrating the turnover like it's the like. It's the glass egg that you get at the end of the year. For, uh, for winning the championship. In college football. All right, we'll talk more about that in just a second. Good to be joined right now by a 17. 17 year. NFL quarterback former pro Bowler won a Super Bowl ring with the Cowboys back in the early nineties. And former Notre Dame quarterback as well, joining me on the program. Steve Berlin joining me here on the Jim Roam show, Steve Appreciate you making some time. How you doing? Doing pretty well, you know, considering Things could have been worse last night for the fighting Irish, but, uh, since it happened the way it did. I'm feeling lot better today, dude. Same I just I don't know if you know, Steve. I don't know if Stew our producer include you in but I'm a 91. Notre Dame alum myself, And in fact, when I visited Notre Dame my senior year in high school, the game that I went to was the first win of the Lou Holtz era against Purdue. Would you want, which involved Steve Berlin, a quarterback. Heck, yeah, yeah, the first one. The first wind could have been Lou Holtz's first game that year, which was against both Shim Backlund. Jim Harbaugh. Uh, Michigan came into South Bend, and we really are playing them all day. But we We lost by one point our kicker that year was a guy. You may have heard of John Carney about 35 years in the NFL, But he, uh he missed an extra 350.35 yarder to win the game for us that day, but, um, we found a way to get it going against Purdue. That's right. Yep, Yep. No, I remember all of it, man. I remember all of it's great to talk to you. So let's start there with that game last night. You brought it up. What's your early read on this? This version of Notre Dame football under Brian Kelly, the 2021 version coming off of the playoff appearance from last year. Well, as you know, uh, the first game is always real hard to figure out, especially when you've got Some new coaches in the mix and new players. There's a lot of figuring out to do you know defensively I was a little bit disappointed. Really thought that Marcus Freeman, uh, would do a better job against, you know, you know, in all honesty will be considered an inferior Florida state team. But We always know that Florida State has great athletes, and that was in Tallahassee in the hype for that game, NATIONAL TV So you got away all that into consideration and, you know, take it for what it was. I got to win. A national TV or a pillow back who, you know, even though he's an experienced guy, senior Jack Cone had a really impressive start. I I think that's a little bit misleading. What happened last night? I think he's going to be a good, consistent quarterbacks for us. But I did a couple of games at Wisconsin the last couple years, and, you know, he never put up those kind of numbers. Now. Maybe it was a product of the system. I don't know, but really solid performance last night, and that was very encouraging for everybody and Hopefully, you can play at that level because if he does, I think our defense will get under control. And I think our running backs will will be allowed to really get after it because I think they were trying to put the pressure last night on Jack Cone and trying to shut down the run game, which they did. And in Jack Cone stepped up as a quarterback has to do in that situation, so a lot of encouraging things, but I hope to see improvement as we go along here for sure. No doubt. What did you think of what? What do you think of Kyle Hamilton? The junior safety. I'm I'm 100% certain will be playing in the NFL in 2022. Yeah, There's no doubt about it. You talked to anybody that that evaluates elite talent at the college level and pro level and then the first name that comes out when you talk about Notre Dame? Is Kyle Hamilton. He's a He is a a difference maker to the extreme. Defensively, he's got the size and the athletic ability overall. And the leadership that you look for out of a safety safety's have to be a leader. When you think of great safeties in the NFL. You think you guys like Ronnie Lott, Steve Atwater Riot Woodson. Those guys are all the guys that were very confident leaders as well as big time playmakers, a key points in games. Charles Woodson's another one. Uh, those are guys that that I think that a guy like Cal Hamilton coming out of college. Would be hoping to become a player of that caliber, and I think he's got the ability to do that if you can stay home. Steve Berlin. Joining me on the Jim Roam show. Uh, Steve, I want to shift over to get in some NFL with you here, and I'm curious as someone you had a long career in the NFL. You played into your late thirties. How remarkable is it to you? That 40 has become kind of the achievable benchmark for starting quarterbacks and particularly Tom Brady, that it's 44. He's winning Super Bowls like just Can you put us in a quarterback shoes as to how remarkable it is that he's doing what he's doing? Well, it's not remarkable in my opinion, and I'm a big Brady fan. But if you think about the reason why all the there's a reason why all these quarterbacks.

"Well, it just depends right then that's assuming like an Ohio state or a Oklahoma falters, because if it comes down to it, the reason why the head to head is going to be a monster. Part of that matchup in Georgia will have a much harder strength of schedule, although their schedule is a little bit easier this year, the normal years. Than than what Clemson has, because no one is really a contender over the A. C C. I say that because this would be a perfect year. If Notre Dame was still a member of the the they are not. They're independent. Taken on FS you. What do we expect in these two teams will be on the sideline tonight with Joe tests and Greg McElroy on the call. Yeah, I'm hoping for a really great game right? Because we didn't necessarily get that from Alabama and Miami. Just given how dominant Alabama was, we didn't necessarily get that. Last night from Georgia and Clemson. Even though you know it did kind of come down to the wire in a situation where you know Clemson had a chance to score and tie things up. Um, I hope this is a back and forth game, but right now You know everything kind of points in the favor of Notre Dame. They did lose a lot of production on both sides. But they're kind of at this point, and I wouldn't put him on a level of Alabama where People move on. And you replenish with an A plus or or an A, um, caliber guy, you know, But they're at a point where there is not this drop off where they have to quickly try to develop somebody to replace NFL draft pick or somebody who was a four year starter there at this point where Since they've made it to a couple. You know, they made it to a playoff. They've won in a tight on. Um they've done different things and had success and, you know, recent years The caliber of recruit going to Notre Dame has also improved, and so they feel like they're at a point where they're replenishing better than they have in the past, and don't really excited to see. These guys go out there. Obviously, it's been a while since we've seen Jack Cone. They feel really great about Jack Cone. Um, I'm excited to see the way that he handles himself. It's been a while since peace life right, displayed at a high level play for a big 10 championship. Played in a Rose Bowl before, um One a lot of games back in 2019, so I'm excited to see how he leads this group. Kyra Williams obviously is the workhorse. He's the heartbeat of this team. I think he's primed to have another incredible season for this offense. And then Kyle Hamilton is just an absolute freak. On the other side. He's right now Projected top 10 pick maybe even a top five pick as a safety just because he's kind of this unicorn with his thighs and how ranger he is, so I'm really excited just to see Notre Dame. In their first game, how they fill in some of the holes that they're missing from a season ago and then for Florida State. We got to go to practice yesterday. And guys, I gotta be honest. They look a lot better than they did a year ago. Now. Is that enough? Don't know when they go out and face Notre Dame tonight, but they have made great strides. The real question is which quarterback are they going to trot out there for the first series? Jordan. Travis has made great improvements just in terms of his confidence level. Um, this is a kid who told me you know, a year ago before Mike Norville got there that he was in such a dark place. He didn't feel like he could throw the ball five yards. That's how mentally messed up. He was from his time at Louisville and his first year with Willie Taggart. Mike Marvelous crew comes in really kind of saved. This kid pulls amount to start place and just rebuild him. From the ground up fundamentally, and from a confident standpoint mentally as well. And so he's in a really great place. Of course. Mackenzie Milton the storyline um you know, are right there for taking if he plays so We're ready for that. It's just I don't know if Florida State has improved the point that they can really take over a team like Notre Dame. Katie George here. About a minute left here. You mentioned Makenzie Melton. But nearly three years since he suffered that looked like a catastrophic career, even life threatening injury at that point, it really challenging deal That was November of 2018. So three years later. Essentially, we have a chance to see him tonight. Whether or not he starts. I don't know if he's going to play. I would anticipate he does. But what do we anticipate seeing from Milton here in this offense? I saw him play in the spring game. Um The kid can thread a needle. I mean, he is an accurate, accurate passer. Obviously he's a winner. He knows what it takes to win at a high level. I don't know physically if he's going to ever be the same as what we saw from his days at U C F, uh but This is a guy who brings a lot of experience. He understands the game and has incredible vision. I think that's where it can be. Milton kind of separates himself from the other. Q. B s on this roster. But when you look at Jordan Travis, he has so much upside because of his playmaking ability, so they might feel more comfortable going that route, but to your point whether he starts or whether he doesn't if he takes a snap in this live game. This is a kid. They were hoping they didn't have to amputate his leg. They hope that maybe they could save the leg and he could walk again without pain. And he could possibly play and a live FBS football game tonight like that has to be one of the greatest sports come back, not in college football history. But in sports history ever so Don't know if it happens, but I'm hopeful If he runs out there, it's going to be an incredible moment for him his family about 70 people family members, friends from Hawaii's surgeon from the Mayo Clinic is going to be there as well. Just a really cool scene at Doak Campbell Mackenzie Mountain gets on the field shades of Alex Smith and him coming back after that horrific injury, And one of the reasons why to watch also cannot wait to see It's obviously the first game since the passing of the legend, Bobby Bowden. Um and you know what that environment is going to be like, is one of the icons of the game. Katie you will be fantastic. As always on the sidelines. 7:30 P.m. eastern over on ABC Crush a girl. Well, we'll watch it tonight. Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. Have a good day, There is Katie George joining Peter Burns and Matt Schick. Remember, also And in our West battle tonight two giants and Dodgers presented by Samsung Galaxy coverage of Sunday night Baseball begins six P.m. "Nobody's got a better than we do. Trigger grills are all fired up there. Right, make love and before I get to a professional Matt Miller, ESPN draft contributor. I want you to give us your thoughts on the quarterbacks for this next year's draft. I already told you, I'm going over under. I'm going Five quarterbacks or more first round next year. Okay? I want to give you a couple against the green name. Okay? There's some big names that we know like Sam Howe and spends rather I'm gonna give three short of dark horses. Maybe they're not dark horses anymore and see if You were mad. Think I'm crazy? Okay, I'm start with Malik Willis Liberty starting to get a lot of love this week. He's an Auburn transfer who blew up coastal Carolina in the bowl game. Okay, uh, Matt Corral Ole Miss quarterback because he's got Lane. Kiffin is his coach and he's a gun slinger, and he's really exciting. Uh, was he at USC? I don't think so. Maybe he was, he might have been all these guys have transferred at least once. I don't think so. Okay. And then my dark, dark, dark horse, and this is just what I saw him play. Coastal Carolina quarterback and I'd look up his name Grayson McCall was a three star recruit Kinda looks like Mac Jones. I feel like a coastal Carolina quarterback to be a great story. He's my dark, dark horse. He's kind of young, but he'd be eligible. So they're my three dark horses. Malik Willis. Mackerel and Grace and McCall. Not sure if you stole Matt Miller's thunder, By the way, I don't think so. But my two favorite players Are not skill position players. Derek Stingley Jr. And, uh, Kyle Hamilton, the safety out of Notre Dame thing these Alice, you right? Yeah. They're sorry. Yeah, but Hamilton at Notre Dame. He reminds me a mill Blunt. He's like, Looks like he's 64 safety. Yeah. Oh, wow. Let's bring in Matt Miller. Maybe we don't need you mad. Did we just steal all your draft thunder for next year? Yeah, I think so. Make love has got it. I mean, you might want to keep him giving a race. He s B is gonna try to give him my job with all the dark corners quarterback. Okay, over under five quarterbacks taken in the first round next year, you're going over under I think that's right on the money. I will say this. I have 14 quarterbacks raided already for next year. 14 legitimate quarterbacks, not to mention the two that I have to add to my list, thanks to Andrew. 14 quarterbacks a lot more than there were last year's class man. We received eight drafted, so I wouldn't be surprised if we Seymour quarterbacks drafted, but we haven't seen six in the first round yet, So maybe next year is the year but there's not that clear cut. Trevor Laurence type guy headed into the year. It'll be a lot of players who have to develop in Ascend whether that's you know, Sam how North Carolina after losing his top two receivers and top two running backs Seen. Slovis has a ton of playmakers around him. His offensive line is gonna be a little bit young, but there's not that established big name right now. All right, run down. Some of the other quarterbacks here. At least we can keep an eye on this upcoming season. But I don't want to inflate your ego too much. Your dad, But you hit the nail on the head with Carson Strong. That's my dude for next year, and I thought he was going to be the guy where I would get to come in here and like August and Puff my chest out for me. This is the new battle quarterback Vata. He's good, though. Six ft. 42 20. He's got a huge arm. He could do enough off platform. Hate comparing players when they have the same name. It feels lazy, but when you watch him, you see a lot of Carson Wentz like He's a big quarterback with a big arm and good mobility, so I would not be surprised if he ends up the number one quarterback next year. Spencer Rattler has been in Oklahoma. It feels like forever, but he's actually just the third year player if you're looking for this year's Cuyler Murray or Zach Wilson, the undersized quarterback who's just gonna run around in the pocket and make crazy things happen. I think Spencer Rattlers. One of those players, Malik Willis, that Liberty is another McLovin mentioned he's Malik Will a 61 to 10. He is an electric athlete probably has the strongest arm in next year's class. But then there Kind of your traditional power. Sam Hallet, North Carolina Phil Jirka vets who transferred from Notre Dame to Boston College and looks like he will be an NFL level quarterback. So plenty of guys to fall in love with between now and labor Day when we kick this thing back off, looking back on the draft, which team changed the most with the NFL draft? Think Carolina and you have to include the same Donald trade in there, so they've got a new quarterback. They added A very good corner and JC Horn in the first round. They got terrorist. Marshall Junior wide receiver in the sac around Brady. Christian sent a tackle in the third. Then I thought they really cleaned up on day three tuba Hubbard will play way. No Christian McCaffrey is gonna move around. You got hurt. Last year, Mike Davis had to step in a lot. Think Davion Nixon, the D tackle from Iowa, he's going to play and they drafted a long snapper Thomas Fletcher of Alabama, so we know he's gonna play E. They got six or seven contributors in this first draft for Scott Fitterer. But I always looking strategy. I don't necessarily look at the player. It's like the Raiders with taking Alex Leather, right? Like where you took him. It's not him as much as where you took him. You know, the Steelers taken nausea. Harris. Okay. Did you need to take him there? You know, Carolina decided not to take Justin Fields or Mack Jones. You know that They were going to go with Sam Donald who, if he plays well, is going to cost them an awful lot like did you understand? Who strategy did you question? And whose strategy did you praise? I mean, my job's to question everyone strategy Almost right. I mean, we can even start with San Francisco. Hell, we could start the New York Jets to be like, you know, is Zach Wilson gonna be better than Sam? Donald? Did you give enough framework of structure around him that it's actually gonna work? Historically New York Jets, quarterbacks don't pan out. So if you want to bet on who's gonna bust you just play the odds and take the Jets quarterback, but You know, the Niners gave up the historical amount of draft capital, the researchers, the ESPN told me that is the most a team has given up for a quarterback since Washington traded up for RG three. We know how that worked with the Shanahan's, so that's a lot of draft capital to give up. And then I thought after trailing San Francisco, reached for Aaron Banks is good player they reached for Amory Thomas in the third round. I don't know anyone who had a third round grade on him, and they traded up to take a running back who's been a hurt Every time he's touched the football basically and trey sermon. Then they drafted another running back and Elijah Mitchell. So for all the like we get stars in our eyes. Only thing about John lynching Kyle Shanahan. They've had one winning season and I think outside of Trey Lance, who I loved, that was a very questionable draft for them, And that's something that remember this team drafted. CJ bettered in the third round Joe Williams in the third round after he had basically retired it, Utah. And so they have not done a great job outside of George Kittle with their mid round picks, which is where you have to build your team, so I think you can question their strategy. I liked Washington strategy. To be honest to not take a quarterback at night or not to trade up from 19 to get a quarterback to give up a future first round pick where next year's draft looks to be, Ah, lot deeper..

"Rick tittle always goes commando Thank you for that and Welcome back to the program rectal with you and on Twitch as well. I've got this terrible twitch Open lines the rest of the way. The bolivia guy is a no show. That's okay after every draft. You start to hear. We're we were trying to get them. Who we we were. You were who has at this time Reports are that it was minnesota. That really wanted justin fields. Well he dropped out of the top ten so you didn't try hard enough did you have. They did get texas a m's callan monde but The gm rick spielman said. He tried to go up to fourteen endlich. He went down to twenty three. You got christian dera saw. That's not bad. But here's the thing. Minnesota watched carolina at eight pass on fields wasn't endorsement for sam. Darnold they trade. And they're basically paying three quarters of his salary of teddy bridgewater to the broncos. And then you pass on justin fields. You'll love some. Sam darnold down there do ya. And then denver while remember. They made a move for drew. Lock a couple of years ago. Drew lock doesn't look like a wash just yet then they have bridgewater who you know nearly threw for four thousand yards last year. They're like so. Suddenly this distant dream looked like it could become a reality and they started calling and calling and calling but they didn't act fast enough because at eleven he gone. Now what chicago ended up surrendering okay. Twentieth pick they moved up nine spots but next year's draft for them No i know. Fourth and no v as they made that trade with the new york giants so listen. They have cousins under contract for two more seasons and in fact next year if they keep him he'll count forty five million dollars against the salary cap. I don't know how this stuff works. How can it cost more than your salary. 'cause he's not making forty five million dollars it could be explained to me and then i would instantly forget it but it's sort of like when you always say that drive through places used french tax. I'd like the ninety nine cents cheeseburger. Yeah and the ninety nine cent fry. Yeah and the ninety. Nine cent coke okay. Seven forty one at the window please. Late la seven. Forty one at the window please. Okay all right one. Eight hundred. Eight seven eight p. l. a. y. You ain't got no alibi your ugly. The other thing is is of course the mock draft for twenty twenty two. That's right just for fun. Bear with me. Let me just let me just give you the top ten mock draft for next year from ryan wilson of cbs. Sports now remember ryan. Wilson was one of those guys. I said you had to ignore it. Because he's picked he picked That mack jones to the niners at three and listen dumber. Things have happened but she just. You don't understand the world if you thought that was going to happen. So they have the number one overall pick being cave on tibidow the defensive end from oregon. How about that. And who will have the number one overall pick. Will it be houston member. Houston pick davis mills. I was so scared of the raiders. In the second round. And i was going to hear the name. Davis mill Second overall pick. Sam howell the quarterback from north carolina third overall pick derek stanley junior. Now daryl stanley was the guy that ran into jack tatum and got paralyzed. And everyone said jack. Tatum was the devil. And he's horrible. If you watch that clip. Tatum pulls up instantly puts his head into tatum's chest. It was still horrible. But derek stanley junior as a corner from lsu fourth overall pick and we'll see how this holds true. Well i go back and check now. Let's just listen kyle. Hamilton is the safety from notre dame. Fourth overall evan neal. He is a Offensive linemen from alabama dairy on kendrick six overall a corner from clemson zion nelson linebacker with the u. at seven Pick eight spencer rattler. I study should have gone to florida am where they are the rattlers That's the oklahoma quarterback. Now everybody just like this is a guy that through twenty eight touchdown passes last year and we know how lincoln riley what he does with his. Qb's with cuyler. Marion jalen hurts. What have you the thing to think about spencer rattler. Is he six feet tall well. Colin murray's five ten and Drew brees is six feet but anyway spencer radler Then keyed on slow this. He's the usc quarterback remember uc quarterbacks they are dipped in gold and anointed in silver. Then maleek willis the liberty quarterback This was a guy who was a two way. Threat ran for nearly a thousand and threw for two thousand last year. Just some early names as we have about. What three hundred fifty five days until the next draft. But if you look at Quarterbacks in the entire First round mock that. I looked at which you can't even. It's just a big board of this point. The only other quarterback on there was a guy named desmond. Ritter who i've never heard of. He's the quarterback of the cincinnati cincinnati. Bearcats he's another guy who he's six four but he has run for nearly two thousand yards so far at his time under center. One eight hundred eight seven eight play now looking at some of the teams that maybe didn't do so.

ryan wilson Drew brees evan neal Sam howell Nine cent tatum Sam six feet ninety desmond last year Tatum kyle daryl stanley Wilson second round Eight hundred next year forty five million dollars derek stanley

"I watched the clips of brian. Kelly press conference and he looked like he was exact exasperated. And i don't know if you're a notre dame fan. How do you feel about this. Because he's i mean he's a really really good coach. We do these top. Twenty five lists every year and brian. Kelly definitely should be in the top five and they have really good players. But i don't know and he's right alabama's done this to almost everybody. They actually didn't do it. The florida but you know was there were still you know it's like we'll see if ohio state gets closer. So let's let's fill people in on the quotes if they didn't see them after the game not surprisingly. Maybe he was surprised. I don't know he was asked a lot about. How does the here how frustrating the question was how frustrated is. How frustrating is it to get to a playoff again lose by this margin the margin not the issue. Losing his losing. I don't know really. What the inferences. This football team battled and they made more plays they being alabama made a few more. Plays on the perimeter. I'm not sure really what the question is when you lose football games you know. There's a few more plays jeff to make. We had the opportunity. You watch the game. I watched the game <hes>. So everybody needs to continue to carry this narrative that not not good enough. Look at the scores of the games. The albums played all year. And i think when you start changing the narrative little bit then somebody asks as you look at it. You feel like the program has gotten a lot closer. What's the next step. You feel like you guys could take need to take i. I don't really wanna continue to go down this path. We're going to keep getting here okay. And we're gonna keep banging at it and you guys watched the game in you. They had the college football player of the year. Who made some dynamic place. We battled. We were right there. So we're going to keep getting back here. And i'm sorry i don't like it or the national media doesn't like it but we're going to go back to work we're gonna keep recruiting. We're going to put ourselves back in this position again <hes>. I mean i know. He's got to defend the program. And you know what's he going to say like. Oh yeah we're we're we've got a ways to go <hes>. But you're right like if you're ordering fan who who still believes deep down the program. That should win the national championship. How do you feel about your coach. Basically coming on saying he's basically trying to say yeah. We don't have a devante smith. We don't have nausea harris. But we were good enough that like if we caught them on the day we could one maybe is that is that we took from it. Yeah and i'm thinking about it. It's like this notre dame team. And i would say it from the last from the jalen smith <hes>. Ronnie stanley era up. So whatever it is i guess. Maybe it's the last five or six years they've had like some special athletes right. I mean ronnie stanley elite talent offensive lineman jalen field. Jalen fields. Jalen was is home. Ultra talented linebacker. They've had <hes>. Kyle hamilton is as athletic as any any safety. The country i mean they have some of these guys will fuller was as fast and dynamic as any receiver just about. I mean it's not like they haven't kyran williams of big time running back they just don't have quite enough of them right. I mean like they don't have any of them. It's not like you know. The the line from joey galloway said like northwestern's a bunch of reese davis's you know the inference there is like notre dame has has some guys who would play anywhere and they've always had a bunch of good offensive linemen. They have good tight ends. I don't think they're light years away from having like a team that could win a national title. I mean they're they're a top five team. It's just you know. I don't know like like maybe this is a better way to frame it. Like if they were playing ohio state they have somehow gotten by alabama. I mean <hes>. Let's take alabama out of the equation if they were playing ohio state and somehow it was a two three game. Let's say let's say that it was just a playoff game but it wasn't. You know as the i. I could see <unk>. Notre dame beating ohio state. Even after what. I just saw from ohio state alpha. If justin feels plays away did tonight. I couldn't but <hes> like i don't think it's out of the realm of possibility like i think there are. You know i watched their. I think notre dame's better team than georgia. I think not notre dame honesty's a better team than florida now. It's easy to say that after you've seen some of these teams get exposed some but lake and those teams. Those teams have played with alabama on a given night right. So i just don't think they have as much margin for error right

"Think they played their best football against North Carolina. That was an amazing game. Fantastic weather as well. So I got a bent in that, but it was they faced. They overcame so many hurdles this year. It's so hard to stay undefeated. They've beat Clemson Team Yes, without Trevor Laurence, but that's a heck of a game to win Double overtime game You have to Go out there and do that They did that and it just the same narrative. And that's been the fun game to play. How many times they say narrative when talking about Notre Dame, But they just are going to continue talking about no matter what Norden does in the regular season. They don't show up in big games they don't perform and especially when you see what Cincinnati was able to do, pushing a Georgia for four quarters today, it really makes it hard for nor him to get back to this situation in the future, because how can college football playoff committees Leave that they'll show up for these big games. That's a piece that coach Kelly really has to figure out down the road. The obvious highlights of points is how much fun it was that early Saturday evening in November when they knocked off claims And as you mentioned some of the more subtle parts the season one I'm really going to remember. Remember, they totally 12 points in the early season win against Louisville. A lot of questions about the offense would get to the point of the level. They needed it to get suited. Go tenant in the regular season and just how it got a little better in a little better every game from there until that Clemson game so much fun to watch that relationship with Tom Reece and the Indian book, Just Grow is the season went on, and that offense got better and better and better and to see what the defense look like with two major All American difference makers and Jeremiah was sick or Melissa. Kyle Hamilton losing.

"And that's how they enjoy 28 7 lead early in the fourth Quick slant thrown battered down at the line of scrimmage. He tried to get it to the Vontae Smith and outside linebackers Shane Simon got a hand up to knock it down to bring up second down. 10 shades. Sermons had an excellent second half here for the Notre Dame defense didn't make a lot of plays early on. In Alabama, still able to move the ball. And just since there's no doubt in Alabama's game, they don't fear they're not getting the next first down or a touchdown at all. It was a rare incompletion. They're buying from that Jones 22 27 now six. So he now has more incompletions in touchdown. Pass. Yes, right for at least a little bit here way shall see four touchdown passes. Another handoff out shotgun right up the middle. Nothing going. Notre Dame's front was there. Brian Robinson, Big backup running back at 612 28, his first Carrie Howard Cross defensive tackle made that play. Now it's third down and nine as we hit the 14 minute mark in the fourth quarter. Crimson Tide up 28 7 on Notre Dame. This is This is a pride stop coming up for Notre Dame's defense if they could get it. This is an end the game drive and first down If Alabama have success here on third down whenever Notre Dame gets the ball back in book who went off the field and into the chance late in the third quarter has been on the sideline, warming up so all signs pointing in book Coming back third down and nine for Matt Jones on the near hash in the shotgun. Three wideouts to his right drops back throws over the middle, complete across the 25 tackled at the 23 yard line. Kyle Hamilton was there right away. Before Julia Billingsley and a little hook over the middle of the field, and that'll bring up fourth down and four again an excellent job by Notre Dame's defense, not allowing the ball to go to Devante Smith, forcing Mack Jones to go through.

"Network studio in Notre Dame Stadium and 1048 Miles away in 18 T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is are reunited Broadcast team of Paul Burmeister and Ryan Harris. Gentlemen. Notre Dame will be taking on an offense today. That fields three of the top five vote getters for this year's Heisman Trophy. Even is the oldest member of this broadcast team. I could not remember this ever happening before, so I looked it up. It has happened once, when Army had three of the top five vote getters back in 1946 when armies Glen Davis won the Heisman. So my question to both of you is in all your years in football. Have you ever seen a college team with more talent at the skill positions than this year's Alabama teen Jack the only one that comes to mind? I was going back to my college days in Iowa, and we played in the 1991 Rose Bowl, and your University of Washington had marked her now Billy Joe Hobert, a quarterback. They had Greg Robinson, one that don't walk. Rewarded running back a couple of white house that made the NFL but nothing that touches a first team All American quarterback in Mack Jones, first team All American running back Nagy, Harris and the likely Heisman Trophy winner and wide receiver Devante Smith. Make you Clark. Only here for the next couple minutes here, Ryan, What's your defensive plan against the group like this? You've got to stop Nadia Harris, number one. You've got to stop him. Those wide receivers. They're gonna have their catches The Vontae Smith Fantastic. Mack Jones. I just don't believe Paul. I watched the film he makes the right decisions. He makes quick decisions also love it, too. As a true freshman on the practice squad, he drew the ire of Nick Saban by faking a Hail Mary and actually scoring and practice and Nick Saban went nuts. And then he talked back to Nick say, but you and I know that doesn't happen. But if you can stop the run game, that's where the mentality Alabama takes over. Of course, they have big threat abilities. But with Kyle Hamilton, you can negate some of that. You cannot let this run game get going. I like your conviction and saying we are stopping nausea. Harris first led the SEC in rushing. What about Devante Smith? Out wide. He's averaging nine catches per game. You've got to take him out and you don't do it with Kyle Hamilton. You do it with Shawn Crawford. You bracket him all game long press him off the line of scrimmage to disrupt his timing with Mack Jones and then keep us safety over him and let the others beat you. That's how you can do this. If you're Notre Dame and like Notre Dame, bitte, they're going to play with the backup at center, their first team center. First team All American, and now they're going to go with one of their backups. Chris Owens experience its center and tackle not to be overlooked. When the guy who's snapping the ball normally is not in there. Well, it's center position is the quarterback of the offensive line. So I expect some stunting from Notre Dame before the snap to really try and change. Those looks make him remake calls. We also saw this season with Notre Dame when Jared Patterson was lost. There were a couple of fumbled snaps a couple of high snaps and you know as a quarterback, even a high snap can really throw off your timing when it comes to third down and got to have a place quickly. Hearme or man or more zone for the Notre Dame defense. The band play, Man, play physical. Don't Be afraid. Go get him knocked him in the mouth. Jack. We're getting closer and closer number one Alabama and number four Notre Dame. We look forward to call here in just a little bit as do I guys. Thank you. When we come back. I sit down with the winningest quarterback in Notre Dame football history to time, Captain in book You're listening to fighting Irish football. Route car insurance. We're on a mission to change the insurance industry. Our new partner NASCAR driver bubble, Wallace has made headlines for being a voice for change surrounding issues of equality on and off the track. This sort of thing comes with criticism from people who don't believe in change, because that's how it's always been. We know how this feels that route car insurance..
