I thought there was a chance that he might end up with sarkisian and Texas. But that didn't happen. And then I think last year took some pressure off him. But you guys know how fans are the first time that they have a bad outing. My mentions are going to be filled with fire peak golden again. Just as they have been for the past four years. But I think last year took a lot of pressure off him because they were better than most people think defensively last year. The thing about much, much more improved was the run defense. They were I think a top and I think top two or three national run defense. They were the top ten overall defense nationally. So and then what they're expected to be this year. I think that took a lot of pressure off him. And I think the reason Nick statement has stuck by him is he's been a pretty good recruiter. And you know, he's, you know, make of this what you will. I do think he's the main recruiter for arch Manning, the top player in this year's recruiting class. So, and then he did a really good job last year. So that's why he came back this year. I was more surprised that he was back last year after three really subpar as you mentioned to relatively subpar performances by those algorithm defensive. I wanted to follow up on something. Last year at this time, one of the breakout stars, if you just watched their spring game, was a receiver from Florida who had some amazing catches. That receiver did very little. It seemed like God on a bunch of lists in a not of favorable way from what you adhere depending on who you talk to in Tuscaloosa. And now Jai hall is headed to Texas where he's going to reuniting with Jeff banks, who was the guy who recruited him to Alabama. He's not the only guy who has transferred from Tuscaloosa to Texas. Obviously, there's a lot of connections between those staffs. It's not just sarc, the old O line coaches with them from an Alabama Kyle flood as well as now a couple of players. If you're a Texas fan, what would you say to a Texas fan about what they are getting from? Because they know they're getting guys who've been hyped and have some athleticism. But what do you think they're getting based on what you know about what they were like in Alabama? Yeah, I think a giant hall has got some growing up to do. So it's a maturity issue, which isn't really that really out of the ordinary sometimes for athletes and sometimes a change of scenery will do them good. I think with a Jai, he had sort of put so many hurdles in his way to getting back into the good graces of coaching staff. It was going to be very difficult for that to ever happen at Alabama. For them to fully trust him. But I think having a clean slate is going to be really good for him. I think he had an opportunity late last year, you know, when John metchie got hurt in the SEC championship game and then when Jameson went down in the national championship game, there was an opportunity for all those wide receivers to step up and make plays. And a giant hall dropped a touchdown pass in that game. So he was whether it was he didn't put himself in the right mental frame to take advantage of all those reps when he should have been because he was pouting or whatever. He didn't take advantage of those opportunities. So I think going to Texas, like in the slate clean with a coaching staff, a lot of those guys who already knows is good for him. But I would be, I would be if I were Texas more excited about just a little building today. Because I think he's a mismatch type player who had a hugely disappointing season for all of them last year. He should have had he should have had it sort of on the verge of an all American tax season. I think, and he just didn't he had way too many drops. He was another player that got in the doghouse. So for several of those guys, I think it's good to go out and just have, you know, sort of a fresh start with Texas. You see, look, Alabama has been a much, much better program than Texas for a long time now. So I don't want to say that they could be rivals, but they are playing this year. Second week of the season in Austin. And the ESPN has Texas number 6 in its pre season around. Look, I was at the Texas college shoe game in Austin a few years ago and that was Joe burrow's breakout moment. Texas almost won the game. And they're right in it, right till the end. This is a game that's going to be like Texas is Super Bowl. What is Alabama is it will be a big deal for them or just like that's another box to check before we go play LSU and all these other teams. You don't understand it doesn't overlook anybody, but I do think having them week two will sort of serve what previous teams have had in that initial season opening neutral site game. Whether it was Miami or USC or Florida state, they could sort of use that game to keep them mentally focused during those top summer workouts. So I think that's what that will serve in Texas. I think it's interesting because you mentioned all the staff turnover albums had some of those guys went directly to Texas and then another guy that's very familiar with Nick Saban that they still have a really good relationship with it about Davis. The defensive line catch Texas with fans may remember it was his leaked audio on the bus that sort of showed some discontent there from what the longhorns are from a culture where they are culturally and building that thing. But they know they know Nick Saban. And on both sides of the ball. So I do think Texas is going to be real up for that game..

"That matters at least from a tv perspective. And so i just don't think beyond the fan base as passionate as they are as good as job. Is those those coaches and players have done to develop those programs. I just feel like it's a relatively limited pool. And what realignment. I think what realignment from ten years ago taught us or at least taught me was as much as you think. People love mark march madness in college basketball college football. That really moved the needle financially. And what realignment. This time around is really kinda hammered. Home is your people of college football in power five football but they they only really love the top of the food chain aspect of it. I think that those brands like in texas has been particularly good in a decade. And people are still. I told you the numbers over three million viewers game like now it starts with the fact that they get picked up by. We can't separate from the fact that you know on. Abc and fox do their draft. They almost always put those teams games on. Abc and fox. A lot of those. You know tcu oklahoma state games or whatever they they're on f s one. They're just not going to get that big an audience but you know. Those brands are very resilient people those have been. The faces of of people have been watching texas football for decades decades and decades. And frankly it's very hard to crack. That club lumps in has done it. i would say oregon over the last twenty twenty five years went from pretty irrelevant outside of its conference to national. But it's for the most part. It's the same schools that people were tuning in to offer the abc game of the week. Thirty five years ago that they're watching now and The difference between last realignment and this realignment was that you know a rutgers was able to be a big winner in the last one because at that point in time. These conferences were so fixated on cable households by the way when they're cable networks to defend rutgers a little bit here rutgers was not godawful when they went into the big ten a they were actually. They were not horrible like greg. Giannotti had built that program up. Even kyle floods first year as a head coach in the big ten. They were respectable. I'm not trying to say like rutgers. You know me well enough, and that like I'm a pretty aggressive play caller and I put a lot of trust in our players to make good decisions. And so I let him know what the call was gonna be, and they all got excited. They all wanted to be the single receiver on our sideline for the play call. So they started playing rock paper scissors for who could play that spot, which I thought was pretty cool because it was a couple things about it. One we had we teach Our players to learn concepts. We don't teach him to learn one position, so they all can play everywhere that they were all comfortable enough to want to be in that spot to that. There was almost some joy and that Yeah, they wanted the ball. But yet if the other guy was gonna win this rock paper scissors, they were gonna be kind of happy for him. You know, that's the environment we created. But oddly enough, what happened in the play? I really think I can remember. Rugs are a lot of lever One model of the middle. What on a model doesn't win the rock paper scissors, he loses. Can't bear If he was, it might have been rugs that one. What happened is rugs runs the post route. He gets double covered, and Waddle comes from the other side of the field and catches the 40 yard game. So the rock paper scissors really didn't play out the way they wanted it to, But I just thought, man These guys gotta love what they get to do, You know, I mean, this is college football. And when you're confident you put in the work and you prepare, it's okay to be loose. It's okay to have fun doing what we do. And I think that's what the best teams do. You know. But he's considered one of the rising stars and all of college football. Georgia coach Kirby Smart. Pluck the Kansas City native from Mike nor Val's Memphis staff following the 2017 season after years outside linebackers coach Landing was elevated to coordinator in 2019 when Mel Tucker left for Colorado. Georgia finished 12th nationally. A total defense is season third in 2019, with landing calling the defensive place so this is would be a big hit for Steve Sarkisian. He's technically the offensive line coach in Alabama is gonna have the same job here, but there were making in the offensive coordinator. But if you guys were coming For the same that, you know, not a promotion. Sure, there's money implications involved here. Yeah, The thing about a good brand remain strong. It gives me goose bumps like with that excitement because it's not normal to me at again like it's been with what we've gone through because of what I'm seeing around us. And maybe the sky from Georgia can coordinate that in Texas, and he will come and he'll see the big 12 offenses.
