"Team but the question is brought in as a starter or is he brought in as a guy I can compete for the starting job but will start off as a backup. I think that is just as much as something to do with James and this situation and possibly camps just as much as it does the teams that may possibly want to sign them. Yeah I I agree with you totally. Lavar. I live this situation with Jeff George in his early thirties. He got into a situation where he was so talented that he was too talented to bring in as a backup. Because if the guy sitting behind the guy you committed two as a starter is doing a better ball in every practice than the guy you guys sitting out there to starter that can create dissension inside your locker room with Cam. Newton and Jameis Winston but particularly with Cam Newton. I'm telling you in shorts and a shoulder pads and just throwing the football around and in practice he's probably GonNa look better than most of your starters there's people talking about a Jameis Winston. He'd be a good choice to be a backup in Dallas. That's high risk if he's back up Dak Prescott he's got a better on than that. Prescott he's got a better college career than that Prescott. He's more talented than Dak Prescott. And there's a chance. His decision making in practice will make him look. Why potentially a better quarterback than Dak Prescott? That's where fit is going to be a big deal for both of these guys. And what they say in an interview with coaches. Can I think it's going to be very difficult for Cam? Newton to accept being a backup quarterback. I think there's a shot the jameis Winston can wrap his mind around being a backup somewhere. But where is that fit? Because there's a bunch of young quarterbacks coming into this draft. There's some more following the next year. There's a lot of teams that feel good about their quarterback situation. There's not a lot of opportunity. I think Cameron James would both be more talented than tyrod. Taylor. Jayme Lynn. One of his.

"Look I I will agree that they matched enthusiasm but they got their different times and they got their different ways Bill Belichick was able to freeze Tom. Brady's hardover and Tom Brady still had love for the Patriots. Still had love for that position at title of being the goat and the quarterback of the Patriots. But what happened was bill belichick start returning those phone calls and when he did pick up the phone. He wasn't as warm as Tom. Brady remembered so Tom Brady arrived at. This place will bill. Belichick was the one encouraging. Tom Brady even come to the same realization he did. Which is this okay to go out there and figure out how great you can become without someone else overshadowing you so that bill parcells relationship which really fueled bill belichick in media ways. If you really dive into his resume you can realize that. He knew one day that Tom Brady was gonNA have to get to the same point prematurely. Some thought that bill. Bill Look Tom Brady as a has been. This is a two thousand seventeen and Tom. Brady has won a super bowl. Cyst in but bill belichick stopped answering the phone with the same warmth and the same understanding that he wants did listen. We've been talking about this for months less. Try to put a bowl on it Brady's had his press conference in Tampa Bay. So let me ask him. We've asked a million times but let's ask it one more If you had to say someone's making a mistake by ending this relationship who's going to into this divorce and have regret in two thousand twenty. I'm not talking about two thousand twenty one or twenty two in two thousand twenty when that season kicks off who's GonNa have? The most regret absolutely is going to be. Bill Belichick and the New England patriots. They're going to realize that it's a team game in his greatest Tom Brady. Is You have to dress them up with the proper resources at turns the weapons in receivers and the proper running game and and the defense all in coordination for Tom Brady to be at his best. So what they're going to come to realize this no matter who's under center good or bad no matter who's out there in the weapons that is a coordinated effort and that realizations don't make realize it wasn't all on Tom. Brady I think right now. When you do your assessment of the Patriots there were twelve and fourteen kinda glossy but then you look at Tom Brady and you start the nitpick without fully realizing he didn't have weapons yet a thirty five year old Julian Edelman coming off. Pd's because he realizes he doesn't have much left. That was his number one target. So I think all of those things are gonNA come into understanding when the season starts and they're gonNA realize ou we let her go and go and I gotTa admit. I've been all over the map on this one. I tend to think. Brady's GonNa miss these guys a little more but again I'm actually leaning today in this moment. That ballot check in twenty twenty is going to Miss Brady more and I'll in. It's because of the culture. I was reading something. Mike Lombardi wrote this week. That I thought was really good. I think it was yesterday or this morning that we're really good about the relationship and how Brady was central to creating that culture that they have in New England. Certainly Bill Belichick deserves the credit for coming up with the recipe. But dammit Tom Brady was right there. In that kitchen winning cooking up their culture into it was a willing servant of that culture for twenty years and helped set that tone. I think Brady's value in terms of going to special teams meetings allowing Bella. Check to coach him like he was a special teams player. And I. It's no different than what Gregg Popovich fouled. When Tim Duncan walked away when Manu Ginobili when Tony Parker when that big three with the San Antonio Spurs and the next thing you know pompous having to lean into and no shot but he's different than Tim Duncan he's not a part of that culture and things didn't go well Gregg Popovich arguably the best coach in the NBA. Sent red. Aubrac are right. There are certainly right there with Phil Jackson and they had a culture in San Antonio that Popovich hasn't been able to duplicate since. Tim Duncan left. I think removing Tom Brady from this culture in two thousand twenty Bill Bill Belshazzar going to be sitting there like. I need Tom and his kitchen cooking me. This LASAGNA. Don't taste the same I. Let's move on to the Cote who we've learned have made a very interesting decision. They Tom Brady had interest in the green apples codes. The colts didn't have interest in Tom Brady seemingly. They chose Philip rivers and a one year deal rather than potentially Tom Brady coming into the house. That Peyton manning built myself. Is it crazy that the coach chills Philip Rivers over? Tom Brady not crazy at all. This is smart football right here. One two familiarity. Obviously and the head coach Frank Reich. Who was in San Diego With Philip? Rivers for three years and Two thousand thirteen especially stands out because Philip rivers was the comeback player of the year and that was under Frank Reich is is office coordinator now. You have to respect that familiarity that relationship because when you start to get into a short term deal whether it was a one year deal. Philip rivers order consideration of Tom Brady for a couple of years. You need to hit the ground running especially in the conditions that this entire world is dealing with the corona virus. You need to have familiarity. I think that was a large art. Why Philip rivers had the leg up over Tom Brady but also you brought up the House that Peyton manning built and then Peyton manning is asked to depart and then you bring in his arch nemesis and Tom Brady. That just didn't fit to be and for people out there who keep looking down at Philip rivers. He's not a slouch fun fact for you. All he actually had a higher passer rating. Didn't Tom Brady did last year. Despite Tom Brady throwing for more touchdowns if you're interceptions but delivers had hired. Completion percentage and greater yards per attempt. So Philip rivers hadn't fallen off the cliff as advertised. I think it was a smart move by the coats. Philip rivers has fallen off a cliff and Tom Brady would've loved have had keenan out. And a bunch of the other weapons in San Diego are in Los Angeles with the charges. Philip rivers have. I do think it's a bit crazy not to kick the tires on this to show no interest when you show no interest that to me says Jim Irsay. The owner of the colts was kind of leaning into mad. Can we really let Tom Brady? Come to Peyton Manning's house with that. I don't think felt like that would land well with hardcore sports fans in Indianapolis or they're continuing relationship with Peyton manning. We still don't know what paid man he's GonNa do. Post career one day PEYTON. Manning may be the president Abbas coach knows and maybe Jim Irsay the owner of the coast. Didn't want to take that risk bringing Tom Brady in to his arch-rival Stadium Uniform Jersey. The whole nine yards but I do think the colts made a mistake. A mistake here. If you have a chance to get Tom Brady for two years with that roster you bill with that offensive line you built with that chance. The colts in their mind are win now. Super Bowl T. Philip rivers over Tom. Brady that is crazy to me. Muscle Pain. I'm talking stopping your tracks. I'll never work out again. Oh my God what am I going to do kind of paying? This is the kind of pain. Dr Jason worsened was in when he created Thera Gun. The deep muscle massager. Unlike anything. You've ever felt thera gun isn't a cheap massage. That just tickles. Your muscles are hand. Held custom device used a scientifically calibrated combination.

"Win to put him at seven and three and now we art. Let's move on if Patrick Mahomes was good boy. Lamar Jackson was great. Ravens coming coming off their big win over the Patriots facing the winless spangles yesterday. Yeah they were favored to win. But the way they won was impressive. Two words for you. Lamar Jackson fifteen of seventeen. Two Two hundred twenty three touchdowns a perfect passer rating and on the ground. Sixty five yards a touchdown ravens. Get the win forty nine thirteen eighteen. They improved to seven and two Cochon. Credible was lamar performance in this one. Lamar's Ben incredible throughout the course of the season in the role that he has ask. And and I think it's such a good fit with him and Greg Roman the things that Greg Did in San Francisco with Colin Kaepernick. You're seeing the same things with Lamar and Lamar done. An outstanding job with it and that could get better grades. One of the best. I've ever been around in terms of scheming up. Not just the run game but the quarterback driven run game now now that being said Cincinnati makes a lot of people feel really good and unfortunately look really good at at this point for for them. My big questions on the Mar mark have stayed the same as when everybody knows you got to pass it. When they can't play the game on their terms will he be able to carry the team in in those and he's probably coaches quickly here? He's probably gone some way to answering that from where he was last season correct. I think there's been progress. I don't know if that's really been answered. SORTA at this point now I've been around Roman as run coordinator also as the offense coordinator Baltimore then in in New York. He's tremendous and making sure that he scheme plays Ed mirrors exactly pass and play action off of it and the Ravens are creating a problem. Fourteen that day don't often see you don't see offense like this with gun pistol so many different formations three tight ends. Their primary targets are tight. Ends it in. Hollywood brown is giving them something that they didn't have last year. Somebody that can stretch the football field off that play action and I feel like this is the perfect marriage and this organization deserves a lot of credit for Building Offense Arana unique talent and making it work for him. Much like Cam Newton. How when he came in Colin Kapernick? I think he's a more explosive athlete in Colin Kaepernick. He's not as big and he's kept us up out of harm's way because I don't see him taking a lot of explosive hard hits and if he can stay healthy and yeah I mean just look at the creativity had all three. Rg Three. Oh Two day is broke the Heisman pags and it just so much to prepare for and it causes ours is Paul's in hesitation. Step hesitation sets up the block for all those guys get to the second level and Ingram so perfect bag physical downhill to make you pay. And I don't know what this is going to look like in six years right. I don't know if he's going to stay healthy. I don't know if the League's going to catch up. I don't know any of that but I know right now. Key sensational he's started. Seventeen Games is a pro thirteen and four for a team that was dead in the water with Joe. FLACCO that had to remake everything. He has been brilliant. I you're right. The Cincinnati is a guy that team that it makes a lot of people look good but he was perfect yesterday. Spurs England Newsweek. Do you is fifteen of seventeen. Those two incompletions was a spike. One was a drop he I do know. Oh He's a quarterback that if you have a very bad defense he's going to make you look historically bad. That's what he did in Miami and week one that's yesterday's Cincinnati and right now well. I think Russell Wilson's league. MVP and I think he's going to further prove that tonight because I think Seattle is GonNa win that football game but if you if you're doing your MVP list and you don't one have Lamar Jackson somewhere in the top five. Maybe the top three. It's because you were down on him going into the draft and you don't want to admit you were wrong like the folks that the question candy be a quarterback in this league. Yes can it be an effective starting quarterback in this league yes can he play at an MVP level or at least a season the answer or is yes. He's proving that in Baltimore right now looks like the most complete team in the AFC. If you look at the pats the chief is the ravens you look at the Ravens and you say top opt to bottom offense defense and obviously a quarterback. Thank you for listening to the first things first. "Poison in a big moment against a really tough situation here. First things first were now joined by Bart Scott. Good Morning Bar. Hello Coach I. I'm meeting I. It's too good first impression. Russian time all right well we got coach. Talk about big big Sunday yesterday. Let's start with deck and the cowboys bar all right but if you're looking to blame someone for last night's cowboys losses certainly can't be Dak Prescott. who had a tremendous game? Who would you place last night's loss on Oh say Jason Garrett simply because his team continues to come out slow they planned from behind it takes tremendous energy to be able to come from behind when you get off to a fourteen start maybe to close the gap but it leaves small room for error when you continue to start off slow need to figure out? Why are they start off slow? They're great and making these adjustment in game adjustments. But they're starting to slow down and cook was great. And just controlling the line of scrimmage and you really start to see on the other side Gary Kubiak influence on his team. Because you see this one cut press to whole one cut get vertical and it starts to wear on a team and they also took advantage of a very fast defense and I used athleticism and speed against them and this was just a tough game. We continue to you really try berry kirk cousins but we have to give them credit because he showed up and listen he didn't have to be Dak Prescott but he was good enough football team he managed to game. He took care of the football today. They got the victory. You have to give credit to the Minnesota Vikings going on on a roll in a tough environment and responding and since week. Five Kirk cousins is I in the NFL in passing touchdowns passer rating please of twenty plus yards. He ever since Adam de the at apologize that feeling and dig into raid. He's been excellent but let's stay on. The slow starts for a moment coach. This is something you and I've talked about off the air. They you dealt with wants to the point to where you you brought in outside help like the the slow starts can be an epidemic almost something that you're searching for the way to get over. I I don't know if you you want to hear the story but what. What do you attribute the slow starts to well? Look it happens in a lot of different ways. Okay sometimes it can be the slow start at the start of the game. Sometimes it can be coming out at halftime and not being able to perform there. Sometimes it's how you play on the West Coast these different situations that for some some reason teams. Don't respond very well to and you try to head coach different things and you may change the schedule. You may change the first fifteen plays you. You may defer you may take the ball you seen it. Throughout the course of the season. Where coaches tried if things when they're in situations like this but what can happen is when you spend so much time harping on it focusing on it it becomes a self-fulfilling process prophecy in everybody is so tensed up at the beginning of the Games? Then it it's it's it's self-defeating and and I think you almost got to take a step back relax and see where that goes leads to bad decisions agents like kicking a fifty seven yard field goal to start the football game on fourth and six. The only reason you do that is because it's like damn it. We are going to get the for the points on the board now. I understand the cowboys. Kicker is one of the best kickers. NFL history from fifty plus and from sixty plus has had success. I get that but you don't you. You don't risk putting your defense in that battle position or that early in the football game when you don't have to you don't know what version of Kirk cousins is coming out. You don't but you do that because because like you're saying you're pressing and it is. That is that it's hard to put this on deck because it was so great yesterday so one of the best games ever played but he was when he wasn't good it was the first few drives and go head coach. Well I'm just saying that the flip side of this says and the upside of this for the cowboys as they know they can come back. They know that they can Overcome a slow start. They've done it a bunch of times so there is a resilience that that's built up that that some other teams don't have where it's gotTa go good early or otherwise. They they go into the tank. The cowboys have shown resilience and to me. That's a strength that that should help him. As the season goes on the slow starts at three first-half points against New Orleans down thirty one two three two Green Bay twenty one to three to the jets down twelve to three to the giants before the giants made some questionable mistakes at the end of that. Give the cowboys lead into the half dump. Fourteen nothing yesterday. But the problem for Jason Garrett Bar to your point is that the question about coaching aren't they weren't just in the first quarter it was then at the very end of the football game when we have now seen the type of Game Dak is playing we're deck is completing third and longs repeatedly. We're he's distributing the ball to cooper or to Cobb. Darwin had a big play. He's playing one of the finest games I've seen him play. You're on the final drive down four. So you got to have a touchdown you don't even face a third down until late in the drive because Dak is being so effective on first and second you have eight plays on that drive. Leading into the second to seven of them are Dak Prescott passes. Six of them are Dak.. Prescott completed passes and then Zeke for as good as he is. He's not been a great shortage back. He's been a great red zone back. You take the the ball out of DAX hands on consecutive. Plays second to Zeke. It doesn't work third into Zeke again and then fourth and five you throw it to him that I'm not going to put on the play call because Dak made the decision to throw it to him but to take the ball out of DAX hands when he's having one of the best games he's had in years. I didn't his top five game and his career. I don't know if that's Jason Garrett or Kellyn more because I'm not exactly certain who's actually calling the plays but that was a killer for Dallas because much like the jets game where they started slow. They had opportunity to win it at the end and they did not and that's why they find themselves in the position. There well third into is one of those downs where it can be either or now. Ezekiel has been your workhorse. And I know he's been contained that game but you understand that you're going for it on fourth down so you hope that Z. He can maybe pop one because they are defending against both the run. End The past now the pass on the last one. When you look out there you're Dak Prescott and I don't know if everybody really knows how? How good of a football player Eric hinges? But you kind of think you like that matchup against your best guy on the team. Yeah one on one. That could run pretty good route but Kendrick dismayed plan. You have the tip your cap to to him and say hey. He made a great play. Our Best Player. We'd like the match up. And congratulations to coach. Does a does a loss like this for the cowboys make you rethink where they will be sort of towards the end of the season whether they would even make a playoff run at this point well the whole season for me is may be could concerned or wonder where they are when you start are three and and they didn't. Those teams weren't the toughest teams in the coach. And then you go in three and then it systems so up and down. He don't get the consistency. And when you hear when WanNa hear nick say you take the ball out of Dak Prescott hands. I don't think anybody's ever said that in relationship to the cowboys versus back. Versions Ezekiel Elliott. So I I'm I understand why they would go to their best player and who everybody would arguably consider their best player and and those clutch moments and and I understand the the best player holistically. I understand the best player in the context of the game and use a basketball term the hot hand and By the way on second or third into what happened to getting back Prescott on the move and letting him use his arms or his legs like we have now seen with the gotTa have it moment that you talk about all the time much like the the two point conversion against the jets and you got to have a moment you go to your forty thirty eight year old tight end. You're going to have in the jets game your moment here. You throw now granted. I understand that Kim made a great play. But that's also a hard pass like like that is in in order to get five yards that bulls traveling twenty five yards. Because it's going only and it Kendricks doesn't make the play. zeke still has to reel it in get both feet down I just I feel like they could have been put in a better position. And in the year where Jason Garrett doesn't have a contract extension where he is one of the six. Most tenured coaches is in football and the other six are bill. Belichick Sean Payton or Mike. Tomlin John Harbaugh Peak Carol. What do all of those guys have in common? They've they've all been it's like you know which one of these not like the others and it's pretty damn obvious which one of these is not like the others and they've all been to the Super Bowl. They've all won a super bowl. They all have at least four. X The playoff wins as Jason Garrett moments like the in Belgium numbers are just cartoonish but the the the the moments like this that make you feel feel like man would win. Are the cowboys going to be the team. We think they should be. I know I feel like you're going to say Ted Marchibroda. You always say in big moments players not plays and it's it's hard to criticize Jason Garrett in big moments to going to Ezekiel Elliott and and giving him an opportunity to win the game. The last pass their options. He chose a matchup against the linebacker with inside leverage. But it's if he hadn't given the ball to Zeke one of those downs we'd be sitting here going. How could you not not give the ball on your greatest player? It's just been such an inconsistent season for the cowboys. They you really honestly week-to-week don't know exactly who they are. And how could they could be and if if you can trust them either. December comes down to these type of games with seething and and things get tight pressure bus pipes and now the Philadelphia Eagles Jonah Hill and you might be right coach. That if they hadn't given the Zeke we'd be talking about how do you not give the Zeke. We also might have been talking about a cowboys comeback.

"Dot com. So we've been following the show. We have a little back and forth here. More pro Kyle Allan. You're more of I don't know if he's the future for Carolina. Kyle Allen I I thought he played a great game yesterday. I thought he kept the panthers in it. An terrible conditions on on a day when you're playing against the Green Bay packers who were at home and we're coming off that loss plus. I thought it was every reason for him to struggle and he really didn't. Do you feel differently about Kyle Allen after what you saw yesterday no and to me. Your evaluation nation proves my point. which is he did play a great game by his standards turn the ball over twice and his team scored sixteen points like that by now by the way? This is also Sawai to quarterback wins. Thing is unfair because this was a better. He played a better game than he played in some of their wins. He played a better game than he did in their winning into the Houston Houston Texans when they won sixteen to ten teams still scored sixteen points one was a win one loss and he was very poised on that final. Drive that I will. I didn't and Dinky played a very good game at all until that final drive and on that final drive. That was a great drive in you come one yard short of potentially tying the game with a two point conversion but no like to me. It's very obvious. What Kyle Allen is? He is right now and this is better than I expected a very good backup quarterback that if he's you're starting quarterback you better have the most dominant running back in football which stage do right and a great defense which at times they do in order to just lose close games to really good teams because they. I mean that that is who he is and and by the way is drafted kid who went to two colleges and got cut by two. NFL teams. He is over achieving. And I think that's what you love about him is that he's over achieving but it's the NFL and like you don't get extra credit for over achieving you get credit for achieving at a standard and I think right now of Colognes your quarterback you got about the twenty fifth best quarterback in the NFL. He's in about as difficult situations. You can be and as a young quarterback Greg you better move the ball down that last drive. We've got your fighting the weather. You're fighting an outstanding pass rush. You're fighting the fact that everybody knows you gotta throw the ball and he. He was able to do that and he was able to do that. With a lot of poise. So to me. That's a really encouraging part of of what we've seen here because some guys are GonNa fold those moments and we've seen plenty any of those drives especially against Green Bay where they go back to pass and it's just it's just over before before the drive can even get going one of the reasons they needed. They were down fourteen eighteen points and they had to the scored a touchdown people criticize them because they went for two after they scored the first touchdown analytically. That is absolutely this the sound move the only way it hurts. You is because if you failed twice but one of the reasons they were in that position was because of the turnovers by Kyle Allen and because the offense was stuck in the mud despite Christian McCaffrey having another another hundred hundred. Forty Yard from scrimmage game and so the I don't want to be too hard on him but we're now he's always starting quarterback in the NFL and the teams he's going to move on from Cam Newton he no longer gets judged on this sliding back scale he gets judged on the scale of. Can he get you to where you need to get to. And I believe the answer with Carolina is no. Could he be their starting quarterback next year. Well to me it's going to be how much progress and I thought that last drive was a very encouraging part. All right. If you're looking at it organizationally he shows poison in a big moment against a really tough situation here. First things first were now joined by Bart Scott..

"Playoff off game in a playoff environment and the packers came through huge. I'm sure they're happy to play in cold weather. We saw what they did in the warm weather and that wasn't very good and and this game was it was really important because of how bad last game was it and how collectively they failed to perform in a in a big moment in a moment where they could have put some in distance between them and some of the people that are chasing them. And I it would that to me was unfortunate and I liked what they did yesterday. But there's still some issues defensively actively they do a great job rushing the passer. They've got the Smith brothers to rush off the edge. And they're constantly putting quarterbacks under pressure and they've got the ability to create create turnovers are very opportunistic defense. I just don't think they really solve the running game problem. And and that to me is going to be the Achilles heel as they move forward the teams that have consistently run the ball against them and all run game defense defensively yet defensively the run game teams at the consumer on the ball against them. I've had a lot of success and it's it's like we talked about earlier. It keeps Aaron Rodgers off the field it slows down the pass asks for us. It changes the dynamic of of their defense as a whole and that to me is the concern. Whether it's at Lambeau or anywhere else is how well. They've addressed well and they'll I assume spend a lot of the bye week trying to address that because after the bye if they're going to get the one seed they have to beat San Francisco and San Francisco has been the best running team in the NFC this year by a wide margin and they're just getting healthier on that front getting their full back back. There tackles back who've been out with injury so there's if you're a team that struggles against the run. San Francisco is a team that absolutely thus far this season has made you pay for that and you said a little earlier discussing your surprise that Carolina didn't run the ball more given that you know what the packers off in their run defense. And when you have a guy like Chris McCaffrey you averages around twenty carries per game but this is one of those games. Were you bump it up a little bit and maybe go twenty five. Maybe thirty just because you realize that's the weakness the defense in a he's your most explosive player by far and especially in that weather conditions to are you ready for what's ahead you can't. It always predict the future but you can gain plan for it. Generations of families and businesses have harnessed the power of Pacific to help them reach their unique goals..

"The fact that Kyle Allen marched down the field I know we had some mistakes earlier in the game and and that's all fine and good but for the purposes of the final March the fact that he was able to do that despite the conditions has to make you feel good about him going forward does it not absolutely and he's gotten better and better every week as coach Rivera mentioned after the game he's basically a rookie this is only his of is the second year in the league but it really does only season as as a starter and he's getting better and better with every play out there on the field he's learning and he he's stepped up took the blame for the terrorists and we lost this game because of me but he did some incredibly good things in that game in the poise that he showed the way he was able to come back bounce back from those turnovers and lead them down the field I had a chance there at the end and he was doing it in some heavy snow passing the ball on it find great goals and over and over again there and I you got a lot of what he was able to do in spite of those turnovers Colin very impressive so Greg Olsen I had some high praise for Colin after the game about as glowing as you can get about a quarterback and here's a guy who's played with some pretty good quarterbacks over the years absolutely I he said after the game basically that that was one of the best performances I've ever seen from a quarterback in those conditions in all most of the guys that everybody at that they talked to the locker room yesterday was just going on and on about what a great job Kyle Allen did so I'm you know he's a young guy he's getting better and I think the future is bright for him being here or somewhere else who knows what's going on with the quarterback situation but then we got to be happy with Colin right now well let's go back to the right before the end of the first half and speaking of Kyle Alan one wonders now I know there are lots of different reasons why we lost this game but there is one particular play they got a lot of chatter a medial it after it happened I mean Troy Aikman and and and and Joe Buck were very critical of of this play when it happen on television on the radio here's how it sounded and makes you wonder if it had been Kyle Allen who basically was falling on and not not Aaron Rogers how would this have gone it's a horrible to get there is a wonderful twist games Bruce serve in Gerald McCoy Jeremy pointed up with Aaron Rodgers in his arms and then there's their call in for falling with his body weight on the quarterback is perfectly executed passers by those two players I don't know the jail before he could have done anything differently there I got no word for because the rules right we wonder if that's tackled if it's the same call you know keep the drive alive that's a well that echo that.

Cam Newton has likely played his last game for Panthers

"And lastly Carolina spider woman Kyle Allen as their starting quarterback they hope that success can didn't can continue now cam Newton placed on injured reserve he's been re having a foot injury is missed six games this season remember he has one year left on his contract the captain of about twenty one one point one million dollars in twenty twenty but the Panthers could save him nineteen point one million they can save themselves by cutting him of course and they also have to sign a starting quarterback that would cost money but either way speculation has now started to run rampant camp

Cam Newton has likely played his last game for Panthers

"Today. We Distorting Carolina the panthers to Place Cam Newton on I r that effectively ends his season. Gm Marty Harney said today. The doctors agreed that Newton should continue to pass the scribes and by the team's medical staff and that likely will take significant time for his injury to fully heal in quarterback news elsewhere. The jags are going going back to nick. foles over rookie sensation Gardner. Men's shoe coach. Doug marrone made that announcement today saying polls is ready to return from a broken collarbone and we'll start next week against the Colts Jacksonville currently on a bi week that I think relatively expected given nick foles is finally healthy. I'm not sure that we thought. Cam Cam Newton would miss the entirety of the season. Although at some point you began to speculate obviously early on in this injury Cam. Newton said himself he wanted to be one hundred percent before he returned to playing football. And when you have cal plane the way he is just Carolina Panthers Teen actually excelling in his absence now. He can focus on being completely healthy when he gets back. But I know you always want to play as a player so if you can keep a guy like Cam Newton a competitor like that. It has to be serious injury and for his his future for his career. We're you hope he comes back as healthy as possible that you say use career as you were talking I was just thinking. Is His future going to be Carolina. You have to wonder now because we were having these conversations over the last few weeks. Yes it's CAM new team. This organization is behind Kyle Allen and obviously seem very comfortable with him being the starter have they given up. Hope that it cam is the answer. That Cam is the future there now especially now that he's GonNa miss the rest of the season this is about. I don't think it's about hope. I think it becomes about how L. is going to be a cheaper player. He's a player that but you can build around with money. And he's also one games in. This is the new. GOP This isn't the guy that drafted Cam Newton and we'll have an emotional title and let's be clear it's Thailand new GM. It's a new owner David in his second year of ownership. I think everything. And everyone is being evaluated Ron Rivera Kyle. Allen is the best to lead the seem to winds ends. That's what you'll see. You have a new owner right. WHO's GONNA eventually want his own guys in there all the way down general manager head coach all the way down quarterback? I think they're going to move in a direction. If they don't just start ripping off winds here I think they'll move in a big direction. Now the one thing about Cam to understand this liz frank injury okay. So that means there's a separation of the bones foot so it wasn't healing otherwise he would come back so he'll he'll he'll but he has to probably get screws put in there in order to really really locked down and then he and then people come back from those injuries. You have to wonder if Camden played his final game for the Carolina Panthers Time. We'll tell them that front. It certainly been his final game this

"Whether he can or can't hasn't been the issue they have needed him to run a ball down team store like this you're up by three scores nearly kill you don't you don't need him too much and flips him get him made him his leg come into running bill point no I'll give New England full credit defensively for what they did my point is I'm not gonNA kill Nick Trump for that but the next a safe play in the ends balloon twenty miles per hour and the wind is hitting you around mid drift so yes on paper yes a safe play but you gotta you gotta understand downs distant situations I'm not running that play in that game everything bad can happen with that play so the offense alignment are going to be off late because of the crowd noise so no Freddie shoes and their game plan was totally idiotic so I mean I I just New England I told you and I wouldn't joking fourteen in two and because they don't give away the last game of the season they're gonNA lose one game because no one can be back consistent but I would just like it I'm sorry I just love it if we could see a game where they're pushed by a team that has talent on both sides of the ball even push wants this year by Buffalo Buffalo's a well coached team with a great defense Cleveland the talent coach them but the coaching mismatch was a manute Bol muggsy bogues situation as far as discrepancy there's the maybe Baltimore Baltimore's well coached Baltimore's got solid defense even when I was in played up to its ability and a running game that can do some things but I just WanNa see this patriots team in a game close late we're the other team you mentioned Freddie kids play calling his time out in his challenge management was a high school ish and it's not just the coaching whether affected both teams yesterday the browns had thirteen penalties the Patriots had four it's the players as well that need to watch what they're doing smart ball it's I mean coaches out there doing that but speaking of coaching you have to give a nod to bill bell check in what he's done picking up his three hundredth career win it's unbelievable I remember bell is a D it's a coordinator plan against him I played them six times in Philadelphia Eighty seven we played them twice eighty-eight played them twice would be four times in a row we had amazing game plan going against them and I can't believe that he would change stubborn as he is how he's changed to being more of an offensive minded coach how he's embraced so many let's just say do this Sean mcvay we like him as a coach right yeah let's just say for the next twenty five straight years he wins ten games every single year he's still wouldn't be up to three hundred no that's how good two guys man and it's not lost on me because I do understand that the fundamentals and it's not even close when we compare who's more important robin craft God he drafted Brady in the six round sent a first round pick for Bella check and he is getting every every every bit out belch greatest coach that's ever played the game special teams he's a master we know what he does defensively and him adopting a more pass friendly offense win the league change with the rule changes I mean as you say the key is one of one and to be able to cover his greatness it's been amazing and I'm really glad in how they got him when we talk about these single greatest trades in sports history here about the racial Walker trade deal how Lakers got James Worthy man trey that first round pick bill belichick is the single most influential trade in NFL history. By far I can't even I don't even is the Walker trade second okay hey that led do three super bowls this led to six in counting and unlike a player he coached for thirty years if he wants to they are going to the we we all had them as the ones going into this season but things can happen now I think we all say not things can happen they're going to be one seat they're going to sweep the twenty ten as with Bai's they were going to go through the entire decade of being the one or the two seed every single year Brady's had mvp ears he's had down issues by his standards they've had great offensive weapons they've had these offensive weapons and you mentioned the greatest defense coach one last thing during the broadcast there were like they showed URD may own belichick's son and they said WHO's calling the man I gotta feeling who's WHO's at least drawing up the defenses it's that guy right there who is just every a year reinvents himself he needs to and puts himself puts his team in the best possible position to win a championship they'll sleeves to go out four straight games quarterback Kyle Allen ran into the buzz saw that is the forty niners Defense Panthers backup quarterback threw for just one hundred and fifty yards zero touchdowns three interceptions panthers get blown out fifty one thirteen they fall to four and three on the season after the game head coach Ron Rivera announced about the team's quarterback situation still real questions got a window Daska clearly very pleasant topic around the panthers team there but after what you saw yesterday discount Allen Go back to the bench once Cam Newton is healthy. I don't think that yesterday's indication of Kyle Allen performance overall they gave up six point one yards a carry defensively they give up fifty one points there are a lot of things that went wrong for that team today outside of Kyle Allen and they're in a unique situation where they can take their time on this and and really evaluate whether or not he is the answer moving forward because do next year has very little he doesn't have any guaranteed money so you're going to pick up I think seventeen million dollars in the cap if you decide to move on it gives them some real opportunity to make an informed decision and they should push this as far as they can because even if cam comes back there's no guarantee that he's back and you're going to be able to maintain that status throughout the course of the season so taking as much time as possible to me is the right way to go here you mentioned they did not lose because of Kyle that is correct and just like a couple of those wins they didn't win because of Kyle but the reason this conversation got started was because they had the listening four and a record since CAM got hurt Kyle Allen for the first time this season played an excellent defense and Kyle looked a lot like we thought or at least yeah I thought it would look when he first took over for camp overwhelmed and not yet ready now you're saying if the panthers are going to essentially punt on this season in order to figure out what they have with Kyle and that'd be one path with the defense that yesterday notwithstanding had been playing excellent with a running back then including yesterday continues to play excellent if and when Cam Newton is healthy this is his job and should be his job. I don't like you could see you don't have to Kyle Allen next year you have to see if camps healthy what can he continue the trend he was on the first half of last season can he stay healthy before you make what would be the most monumental decision this franchise has made since they drafted Cam Newton which would be moving on from Cam Newton this off season so the I've been very consistent on this you kyle and has shown that he's not a disaster so you don't have to rush cam back but if cams foot gets close a one hundred percent after dealing with the list frank then you have to put him back in the lineup and see how he does healthy with this defense and this running game I I don't think at any point when I say you're punting on the season by that player in in the game callans on a very good job and the one thing he's done consistently or the one thing they've done consistent since he's played and the idea that that he was it was the main reason why they lost yesterday that's so far from the truth that eighteen played poorly and and I don't think we if CAM news in there he would have had very similar if not worse with that that level of pass rush coming the injury I think it's important for this organization to really understand what they have and if that means pushing cam back another week and another week we'll give him more opportunity to heal and should give them a better opportunity when he come back if he comes back to be successful yeah one thing that they can say in the stretch with cow Allen is that he was more than again manager you could see that they're downfield passing attack it had improved he could drive the ball down the field yes where they went in with McCaffrey yes where they went in with the defense yes they were doing those types of things but to say yesterday that now oh he's just a perennial backup oh he's just a street free agent no also leadership lots of we don't like to give younger guys credit for good leadership because typically a quarterback even though he might be a street free agent this kid's been a leader no matter where he spend because he's been a quarterback and sometime when you take over for a great player Light Cam they become overwhelmed by the situation he wasn't overwhelmed the situation so I think norv Turner Scott Turner they do believe that they do have a good prospect to continue work with but Cam Newton when he's healthy. I don't believe he's going to be healthy this year. I don't know a quarterback yesterday Rogers Breeze Brady that would have been good under the title a pressure that San Francisco and because San Francisco first quarter they had three possessions two times touchdown scored twenty seven points in the first uh who is going to be affected with that type of rush coming at you and you're behind in on the scoreboard Geno so if Cam.

"Is what he was the first two weeks of the year then of course they stick with Kyle Alan NASA guy gets one hundred percent even if they don't miss a month or six which is what we need to realize Cam Newton is not as effective throwing the football so the equation that you give me it's going to lean in favor of cow Allen because cam is not the player if he seventy percents that means he can't run the way yes and he changed his throwing motion disaffected throwing so the truth of the matter is when you have a list frank issue it's the middle of the foot sprain the coach just said camp is not practicing he's still rehabbing I don't believe he's going to be healthy this season and win Cam Newton is healthy regard Josh Allison adjust Allen's dad would tell him he's Cam Newton's better than him that's the obvious part but cam is not healthy that we can even conversation about and go head coach well the other question mark here is we then Chris mentioned it the change in the throwing motion we don't even know whether or not that change has really stuck I don't know whether he comes back he's he's going to be able to to to play in the way that he feels he needs play to protect himself from throwing perspective so that that's a question that that that has to be answered to at some point which has got to be answered before you move on from you you brought up and I wasn't saying you said they'd be hunting on the season to me if you at four and three in the NFC if you say Kyle Allen's going to take us home with great Evenson good running game to me you'd be putting on the he's and try wasn't trying to put those words in your mouth my opinion on that but you're absolutely right the Carolina has a massive decision this season came would be very sought after trade quarterback or not backup quarterback prices but near backup quarterback prices so you've got to if he is close to one hundred percent put him back in the lineup and the one thing that I disagree with you won't see is I think kyle except for that first game against Arizona who everyone throws on had been exactly a game manager he was under two hundred yards passing per game the the best when they had was against Houston where they scored sixteen points the they were they were a product of Christian McCaffrey rising on the MVP list and that defense being great I didn't want to measure it wasn't in numbers my measures when I watch him throw the football when I watched a flight of his ball when I watched what the coaches call he can get the ball on parts of the field journeymen quarterbacks and perennial backup quarterbacks can't get to so for me I'm talking about his arm town and it takes some stuff inside stuff this town double when you start leading the club right and Carolina wouldn't plan that Raider football that anybody could a quarterback town I think the coach when you see this when you see a guy on the field a new C. parts moving guys like the game's not overwhelming the game's not too fast for him and you could see some of the stuff that they were doing even with the running back that the quarterback had to have enough talent to be able to orchestrate all those things so a lot of times when we have an iconic quarterback like camp sometime when it comes who's going to replace them we get called in anything cow Allen has done a tremendous job he got a three thousand dollars signing bonus draft day to come to Carolina and to win for NFL Games face type of pressure I think he's done a tremendous job based on what they thought the prospect would be coach and what stands out to me.

Let's overreact to Week 8: The 49ers are the NFL's best team

"I think that what we want to talk about our vise lows the NFL season so far and highs at this point are the Sansko forty niners it's the New England patriots to undefeated teams and then we want to get into Adam gays who want to get into Freddie Kitchens in WanNa get into the Chicago bears those I probably don't need to say are the lows of the nfl let's start with the great teams the teams that are that are undefeated mic Bosa and San Francisco Forty niners so this was so we talked about this last week where essentially both of the undefeated teams have been dogged by this Weirdo they haven't played anybody and eventually as maze I talked about last week eventually you know this is just the NFL they're beating up on these bad teams because there's just too many bad NFL team that's sort of the way things are going right now there's like five good teams that are quote unquote nice schedule winds and then there's twenty-seven teams who are who everyone considers inferior one AA competition Ravin said that the forty niners host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday they win fifty one to thirteen the panthers where the fifth ranked offense in the NFL all fifteen th ranked defense Nick Bosa three sacks three tackles for loss one pass break up and one interception return for forty six yards the forty niners I I I don't feel the need to say there will jit because we already knew their religion you've written about this this was the type of win that I August isn't very analytical this shuts people up oh yeah I mean this is this is what they call a statement when I think the most points they've scored since ninety three or something like that I saw that today Yup yeah type of win where if there was college they would get like twenty more first place votes this week exactly kind of win they wouldn't jump over the Patriots but it'd be getting close yeah I mean this what stood out to you when you just looked at I mean it was as complete performance you can get it turning that stood out that maybe I mentioned already I mean yeah obviously the defense I think has been the foundation that they've been operating on this year they've -pletely remade that front seven I should say the front the Front Line Nick Bosa you know changes everything default has been good deforest buckner is just playing out in elite level still Eric Armstead has been playing really really well as you know two and then I actually saw Solomon Thomas make a really good play today too I mean they've got guys they've got it reminds me a little bit of the rams of old in one sense that they spent several years of like accumulating talent and it's finding all starting to kind of click together her and their defense is looks like a juggernaut and then on the other side of the ball run game is just so dominant You know we saw we saw what they could do today. Seven Coleman really really good they've got like woman baby yeah they've got like four backs that could that could be their starter yeah they're just really really good so they they control the clock they it's such an old school method in you know it's it's funny because in the in the stage when passing is so much more efficient they're kind of breaking that rule that passing more efficient because when you can run with that level of efficiency in that level of explosiveness I mean it just you don't Oh you don't actually really need to pass that much because they've just been doing it sufficiently my favorite maybe event of twenty nineteen so far is field yates tweeted out most pass attempts prior to first career interception history number one is Dak Prescott number three was Kyle Allen after the game yeah Richard Sherman Seen this yet Richard Sherman quote tweeted that tweet which is I'm so happy to have Richard Sherman back in our lives I talked with a couple of weeks ago but just like the thing where he may be made up that thing with Baker Mayfield I'm fine with it leveraged do whatever he wants he's back in the spotlight he's GonNa Talk unquote tweet field Yates tweets about say element Mayo hundred percent on the rich German experience back to hit a piano yeah I know this is a pro Richard Sherman podcast now I think it's really interesting what happens now in the NFC obviously the Green Bay packers won tonight there are no drew breeze comes back with the saints and they look like they didn't miss a beat obviously you know teddy bridgewater is a very good quarterback while he was aperture breezes he's wearing your mind is the pecking order in the NFC and are the niners significantly above those other two teams man that's such a good question I really like The saints still I think the fact that they were able to do what they did go five zero at bridgewater and just Kinda keep going you know keep them momentum going forward I think they are still one of the favorites I would say you know it San Francisco New Orleans one and the packers just slightly below that but with the way that Aaron Rodgers has been playing last couple of weeks there certainly scary I think their defense has taken a little bit of a step back so there may be not quite as balanced as we thought they were but yeah I mean I think those are clear top three teams there's no question about that and then you could you know make arguments for the vikings or whoever but yeah I think those are like the like the cream of the crop for share in then there's a bunch of other teams speaking of the cream of the Crop New England patriots okay so the stats from the NFL the browns I can barely get throughout the browns had turnovers on three consecutive offensive plays against the Patriots that is the first time any team has done so since week one twenty twelve only the seventh time it's been done since two thousand this is not good if you're the browns we're GonNa get to the browns and are very robust stocks downs section a little bit but this patriots team unfortunately this is not kind of the schedule will win that we thought it was going to be you know the niners get there's the browns are not as good as the panthers the browns have been kind of a disaster but this was just another performance Devin mccourty looks like maybe defensive player of the year candidate the defense he just unbelievable in Baker Mayfield after the game said that the Patriots didn't do anything confuse them they were just playing really well yeah and you you kinda wonder like isn't that the worst case scenario for a team is the they're not doing anything new there just being the crap out of you I mean it was amazing when you think about this patriots defense what comes to mind yeah I think a couple of things going to mind number one discipline that's kind of a hallmark of the belichick teams is just being really disciplined like you know obviously Cliche do your job or whatever that's the first thing versatility you know they're able to play it's

"At a time comes I will address it but until as far as I'm concerned he's in his Rehab Program he's doing his program or quarterback right now he's been playing for us is kyle and so we're not going to address it make you probably know where I stand on this but just out of curiosity you think the panthers should consider sticking with Alan Win Cam healthy again well this point they have to consider it a the guy hasn't lost a game yet and we know that the panthers had lost things the last nine Cam Newton starts now all nine of those starts he was some varying degree of injured whether you need a shoulder surgery or sprained foot or all the above but as long as they keep winning then of course you're going to have to consider staying with Kyle you wouldn't say the same thing with what's going on in New Orleans you wouldn't say they weren't Oh and nine is at San Francisco a home game and then at Green Bay either Kyle Allen the panthers come back down to Earth in that stretch and cam takes his job right back four you go to San Francisco when you win and or you go to Green Bay and you get a win in the middle you take care of Tennessee at home thing kyle gets to keep the job now yes by the Tampa Bay bucks seven and it was about the the I think it was fourteen sacks and tackles for loss combined for the Carolina Panthers the Panthers don't dominated that football game but as long as you're if you're undefeated as a starter and you don't have first ballot hall of Famer drew brees coming in behind you then yes see it has to at least be on the Board Kyle and keeps the job I don't think he will no longer can dismiss it out of hand at least I can't is his this is what we got going here this this cow Allen is starting to be like Johnny appleseed Paul Bunyan and I don't want to you know Praise Carolina too much because I'm here in Atlanta and they don't like the Carolina Panthers I'm a hold down my enthusiasm but this is a real conversation Scott Turner norv Turner offense coordinator and his on quarterback coach they liked how they like his fundamentals and since he's been in the lineup and even last year start where he one week number seventeen they're passing game has been more consistent so now the question with Cam is in Kim was in the process of refurbishing his overall throwing motion in trying to learn the deliverable different way so we know he's got a serious issue as far as his foot to me I don't believe the foot is going to be one hundred percent healthy this year so foot's not one hundred percent healthy is he better passer then cow Allen because it's not a better athlete you can't answer that question because cans only got one leg he's a better athlete out in cal Allen he's not a better passer than than than the quarterback there so to me it's fairly simple and Carolina after the season's going to have to make a difficult decision which I do wouldn't be surprised if they moved off a cam and the last year of his contract and in the second year of them having a new owner there so Carolina Panthers fans you can be excited but in there's going to be some ramifications from that kid winning all these games and I think that ultimately this could be cams share with Carolina Panthers I WanNa give the devil's advocate argument if I may for a moment if let's just say cams foot does fully he'll if cam does get one hundred percent we saw cam at one hundred percent under this new often to the beginning of last year I eight games they're six and two when he's playing the best football of his life that is a higher level full then Kyle Allen has gotten to in this league and I would argue probably would ever likely get two in this league with how that this defense is playing and with given the fact that unseen compared to the guy you're trying to slot into who played the first half of the season and look good but also is there something to be said for this the things that they do cam had that one year where he turned into Superman but for the rest of it it's been managed game wintertime possession be more physical right on Jenna Wolfe ready

"Oh you have at Dallas fine you thousand and look that hard buffalo is one loss Chicago's one of the best defense is in football then you have new England undefeated and then Seattle with one loss they have to try to stay competitive see what one thing that I think I think you make a great point about the slow starts but I'm GONNA take you guys back to week number two and the first place in the digital divide should be sending Sam darnold some type of edible arrangements go up either eleven or maybe even fifteen going into the half and what happened another interception by Baker and of the three interceptions the one that to me was most clearly his fault the one that's hard to say was a miscommunication or bad luck game or to take control the football game again the team I know they were upset. That Jarvis didn't get the touchdown that's why challenged it but then you get stuffed go get Org go get the touchdown backs all costs was the challenge this is a team right now that had an opportunity at two PM Eastern yesterday it looked like it really looked like we'd be saying man the browns somehow steadied it they might have some bad losses but man do they have some good wins Baltimore home against Seattle three the three through six how were they going to deal with the top month football geno was justifiably word well looks like Chris they were going to be okay and they melted down and for me you much like I was saying with the chiefs you can't get these losses back you can not get these Games back and no matter how easy the schedule is down the stretch if you start two and five two and six it doesn't really matter what the schedule looks like down the stretch C. C. R. U. S. concerned as these guys is it a Freddie Kitchens problems that Baker emerges this team needs to figure out a way to win and not loose will in most situations I try not to overreact but I do in the back of my mind with a two touchdown lead I did chemin Freddie kitchens cut out for this NFL job now I do have a lot of faith in John Dorsey so I'm not gonNa jump off you know my belief in him so early but I think that the overall passing game them trying to throw the ball as much as they are two more weeks man in Korean hunts coming back so I don't care how much talent they have it wide receiver the only way they're going to be technique quarterback stop those interceptions is have that offense revolve around Chub and hunt that's what the team should be I don't think they're going to do that because knicks favorite receiver the best guy in the world nick was like last week all we gotta get this guy to ball and said that's not the way you learn how to win a football game especially with the young team comic to be an NFL head coach that's still out there losing at home is never a remedy in NFL for anything besides losing Rob so I'm concerned about Baker Mayfield and how this offense continues to go forward of how they're going to attack defenses we just talk about Seattle for a second because as they won yesterday they're five and one Russell Wilson looks like an MVP candidate and we don't talk about them at are they quietly sort of super bowl content so effectively and because there's such poise at the quarterback position it does give them a chance to compete every single game do they have the defense to really make a strong run into the Super Bowl I'm not sure about that right now but the the even more effectively and be protected even more effectively because of that is a great recipe to be competitive. I'm not sure if there's enough right now to actually for the full season would be the best touchdown interception ratio completion percentage in quarterback rating any quarterbacks ever had in a year he has been he has separated himself now now from Patrick Malone from Christian McCaffrey from whoever else through six weeks he's been the best player in football and he's the biggest reason there fourth straight start in place of the injured Cam Newton and he kept that momentum going Kyle Allen finishing the one off twenty or thirty two two hundred twenty eighty seven yards two touchdowns zero picks Christian McCaffrey finding the endzone twice and Carolina walking away with a thirty seven to twenty six win the panthers now four no since Kyle Allen took over after starting with Cam Newton here's Ron Rivera on whether this is now Kyle Allen's job to lose I'm not gonNA worry about I'm not going to speculate on anything until I have to address that so until that we're going to stay in the now we're going to stay in the he's in his Rehab Program he's doing his program or quarterback right now has been playing for us is kyle and so we're not going to address it thank you probably know where I stand this but just out of curiosity you think the panthers should consider sticking with Alan when cameras healthy again we'll this point they have to consider a the guy hasn't lost a game yet and we we're all the above but as long as they keep winning then of course you're going to have to consider staying with Kyle I wouldn't say the same thing with what's going on in New Orleans you wouldn't on Monday through Friday six thirty A._M.. "Point win the highest scoring football game in NFL history have the two best quarterbacks it's ever so. I think that's what's going to happen true. They are great quarterbacks John. What's your prediction panthers this seven seventeen jaguars thirteen. My prediction is twenty eight Jaguars Seventeen Panthers. Wow all all this talk about the defense and then you think they're just GONNA get run over at the Jaguars gap because I believe the Jaguars. GonNa run the football down there fucking throats. That's why Yup just like they did against the broncos. Were they required their quarterback. Toledo on a game winning onto game winning drives yeah the difference. Is that our quarterback Kyle Alan. Not Joe FLACCO feel like they're compared. Yeah I understand your skepticism but I think the JOE FLACCO is they better quarterback then kyle album and that might be that might be a hot takes. Go FLACCO Joe flacco is not good quarterback. He won the Super Bowl he did. He did want to eight years ago. He was good for four games eight years ago and he got a hundred and fifty million dollars for a damn right did so yeah and they also want to add before this got me off like that all right well anyway from all of us here at the keep sounding podcast enjoy your Sunday battle of the Gods Gardner Flint minhsiu mentioned the second versus Kyle Allan. "Kyle three and I was the starter. I'm not saying that that's the reason why they made it takes. It takes some pressure off Russell awesome yeah that's like. I don't know I think all the stuff that people use as defenses for the run game or like pseudoscience in a sense. It's like Oh. It sets up play action. It opens up the passing game. It supports your quarterback but none of that's like provable. It's just kind of some people have said nobody's ever really been because it refutable because it's kind of a so you think Kyle Allen throwing the football more than a panthers running the ball would have been better this past week in terms of like generating more offense yeah yes this by him getting sacked and fumbling the hall three times uh-huh yes it would be a risk for turnovers but like we average almost seven yards a play when he threw the ball we average three and a half per play football. Let's literally twice as effective offensively when we through the football. You can't tell me running war would make your true. He does not throwing interceptions as it is. It's it's riskier. I admit that but like you can't say if you run more of the more efficient play you'll be less efficient as offense like that doesn't connect Panta should throw the football every place you're saying unless they have numbers advantage in the box like if you have blockers which is running these eight-man boxes like they insist on doing over and over again and then seem surprised when Christian McCaffrey can't go anywhere see my my only. My only problem with that idea is that it takes away play action which is which freezes the linebackers. It doesn't matter right as the people have done studies. He's that there's no running. Rushing attempts and rushing success has no effect on a successively action. I did not say rushing attempts or rushing yards. I'm saying rushing the football leading to play action because play action is predicated on the the other eighteen believing you might run the football yeah and if you act like you're gonNA hand off. They're they're going to buy two handed off like twice in the county. They have handoffs in their playbook not if you never run the football. They never run it but you've been you've been saying that the throwing you're almost at the point where your your position is. We shouldn't even have running backs on the team exactly no my my position is air a-rated. Throw the ball eighty percent of the time away from the play action though like just actually doesn't it just sent. It doesn't matter how many times Z. Run. It doesn't matter how often you run teams always buy it still affects. It doesn't affect the play action success. Yeah teams are going to buy the play action no matter what studied studied. It's been proven unless you do it like unless you put like Daryl Williams back there and play action him. Nobody everybody knows he's not going to get the ball. Jews are if they see like handoff. Stop run pass and when they see the hand off they take a step out of instinct. They don't have time to process. This team's only run the ball fifteen percent of the time. This is more than likely going to be a pass. Look equally does that well. He's on our team team so it doesn't matter the best line Bekker's ever. That's not a projectable across the team across Thomas. Davis did that too so to Shack Thompson but you don't play the chargers this year and Shag out on our team. Whatever man those are better linebackers in most teams have hello again. All you have to do like I said is. If you get get one time or the defense doesn't isn't suck on a hand off fake and actually hand the ball off on like a draw gained fifteen yards and tell me those linebackers won't step for the next time they see that motion all right. I'll give that to you. That's fair yeah. I'll take this one score. Predictions buccaneer lakes now. We're not gonNA do that yet so the Jaguars have good defense and Jalen Ramsey is going to take away somebody for the panthers and I think is going to be Curtis Samuel because Dj more just hasn't been involved enough in the offense recently where I think that he's going to have a big role so I think that Jalen Ramsey he's GonNa Shadow Curtis Samuel this weekend and that would probably be bad for this offense also so I'm worried about Colossi Campbell because the offensive line has not been great and I feel like they did better this week because obviously greg little was that left tackle but they're still not like quite meshing yet. Maybe this week they mesh but this could be a rough week for the for the panthers offense especially taking away one of at least one of the security blankets for Kyle so brad. Give me your thoughts on the panthers versus Jaguars Defense. What what are you looking at here. I think we're GONNA see a lot of what we saw last week where we're GONNA struggle to score because it's Kyle is facing progressively harder challenges as with each start. I think the Jaguars are a little bit better than the tax and so I think this is going to be another He's probably GONNA. Turn the ball over a time or two. We're going to gloss over that fact because that's what we do. Kyle and I think that that the offense will struggle. I think we'll be relying on Joey. Sly a lot like we were last week and you know I think I think we can win Dan. I think we're potentially good enough or even better than Jacksonville but I think it's GonNa be hard. I had a Jalen Ramsey D. Do we think he's GonNa play. I mean he is he. Doesn't he owned. It's using all their sick time before they quit and so. I don't know if he's GonNa play or not. I feel like he's I would guess it. He's not because he's the best quarter in the league. Yes I definitely already for him not to still got boy. A though who I think is GonNa shut down any panthers seaver. That's out there. Yeah I mean it's the secondary still good regardless. It's just it's a lot more manageable that Ramsey right. I don't I don't know it's it's like it's a weird situation. 'cause it's like he doesn't he definitely doesn't WanNa play for them anymore. But I feel like the Jaguars are almost at the point where they're like like will too bad. We're not going to trade you and then I don't know what he does her. I think they've reached that point that they're not going to trade him on his fight. Yeah I'm bell and is not player. They also he also they also still have a chance like playoffs wise so the other two into it has a junior right now this week four Kennedy Fi as a as a as an aside. I just WANNA tangent conversation. It's so funny to me that every single season we do this whole like Oh. If you start oh into you have a twelve percent chance of making the playoffs and all that stuff and then every single season after we have those conversations nations for the first two or three weeks of the season we get to like and it's like Oh they can win this game. They'll just be two games out of first place. It's like well Duh. There's only been four games in the next year will do the same thing where teams start one and three and everybody's GonNa start like one or two go no trouble in they go to like. Oh man nearly one game out of first place the panthers right now the sky was falling will grow into an hour one game behind the saints for first in the NFC south finally got a franchise quarterback quarterback finally quarterback games on the defense to win Yep. He absolutely can so looking at the Panthers Defense Force versus the Jaguars offense. I I mean they really only have one wide receivers worth noting which is shark what I can tell the offensive offensive line for the Jaguars is not great so basically it's the panthers defense versus the Magic Gardener this week the throat over those mountains. I'm curious to see what the Jaguars going to do but my prediction right now is they're going to run the ball a fucking ton which according to John isn't a big deal but I think it's a good it's a it's a it's. It is a big deal great. I don't know man I mean like every team. The panthers have played against the bad like decent rushing attack and they just just like abandoned and threw the ball. More instead has kind of what I've seen and they're. They're just more committed to run the ball than any other team. The panthers have played recently. That's that's what concerns things that they're going to keep at it even if they struggle in the first half with it it's an it's an wonders for them offensively since he's been there just broncos with two hundred and twenty yards rushing yeah bras garbage lead them down the field onto for two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter. I don't Oh no man I'm just I'm just saying like this. Panthers rushing defense is not as good as the passing defense that could be a problem and I. It's not a problem not at all no not member when the Jaguars were like an unstoppable defense a couple years ago the average they allow five yards in twenty fifth run defense. They also had a much better. You know secondary secondary but yeah no bass even does the important one seven say Jalen Ramsey is comparable. The James Bradberry guy didn't say that no to said that the the past the teams that are good at defending the passenger teams that are good on defense. It's off the rubber can't cover the past L. wealthiest out over. You can't do that if you that I understand mentally understand. I just think that the Jaguars will be one of those stubborn teams that will run the ball regardless and that's what worries me we'll see. I guess everybody hates unless there's like except for like the three analytic nerds are listening. Please get this John Guy off the podcast. The blocking calculators math doesn't lead the winds John Rain wwl tailplane on an Abacus Yup. You're damn right. I don't need calculus whether I'm GONNA win win or lose this football game so I guess we'll just move onto scoring predictions unless there's anything in particular one discussing lose Dini scoring predictions all right Brad. Give Me Yours Kyle Allen. Uh Seventy two Garner men shoot damn seventy two seven seven hundred seventy seven.

"I'm not matter you know they do but like John. Just said it. It's not there's more to it. It's not just the quarterback like there's eleven players on the field for each team at any given time right like kyle in like if you were to give give him a win or a loss based on his play as an individual probably probably have been lost probably takes an l. there with three fumbles. He threw the ball fine. I guess who's very very conservative throwing the ball but did you hit his his. His depth adjusted accuracy. QC is like really really average. It's just he he needed his let it fly. He has Greg Olsen got mad on the one down the scene where he was wide open open calendar though and he's done that a lot where he kinda double clutches when he's about throw and then ended up just checking down so it's probably his fault that Christian every touch displays place. I think the problem with Kyle Lounge right now is keys is not necessarily sure what he's looking at down the field like I won't take this away from he's got a good accurate ball. When he's on the ball down the field the problem is he doesn't really pull the trigger when he needs to the at times like he did have those tooth rows to Curtis Samuel which even though he missed them down the field he he made one later in the game but I think he threw the ball three times sam down the field night appreciated the fact that the can't the panthers were doing that just because it forces the defense to respect that but it feels like Kyle Allen a lot of problems are just that he doesn't make a decision quick enough and they're between the one sack fumble fumble where he didn't step up and pocket. Jj Watt hit him or the one where he liked decided to try and run and got sacked and there was another fumble. It's like Kyle Allen seems to struggle with making a decision and that's almost worse than a quarterback just checks it down or throws it out of bounce the chance because luckily it worked out for allowing on Sunday because the panthers still one but in like I would say seven out of nine games. You'll lose those games because of the decisions Kyle Allen's three and yet they can be damned. He's three now as the starter veteran Cam Camden three now but that's but that's just like being a backup quarterback though like that's almost every back quarterback in a nutshell is yeah you have the NFL like arm talent but your decision making is not where it needs to be. Vat of the year is making his. They're the talent. Isn't there like it's kind of an inverse with a lot of yeah I think more of them probably have arm talent. I think there are several players lots and lots of people that have arm to play quarterback in the NFL but it's the processing speed that gets a lot of people and that's check out the American Ninja Warrior podcast for a behind the scenes look at all the action of the show and more with your favorite competitors listening subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Super Bowl Cam Newton studied soap. It doesn't get to that point. I hope not too but we don't know with Cam so but I'm sorry but I will laugh so hard. If Cam is hurt for the year we win the Super Bowl Colin and that would be the funniest I most panthers thing ever that would be the chaos and she super bowl that we liked to root for the best Thailand the best part kyle goes out and throws four touchdowns in the Super Bowl and we dislike oh no divest would be kinda goes out in like Peyton Ayton Manning's a team to the super bowl where like the team carries him on their Mac ever yeah he kyle just like seventy five quarterback rating for the season throws like three touchdowns and eight interceptions in the playoffs and the defense carries a team to the Super Bowl people be like Oh. You're willing to Super Bull Yeah we win the Super Bowl like thirteen to nine or twenty fast gaming yeah yeah it would be the best could happen. The panthers have played a lot of teams. Who will I should say all the teams who prefer to throw the ball more than run the ball this week they face Garter Men's issue the second who is the most entertaining player in the NFL right now I must say and he is coming off a game where he came back against the Broncos and won a football game despite the broncos pretty much having it in the bag and and Garner Menchu versus Josh Allen Kyle Allan Allan as he announces to say Josh Allen mm-hmm Battle of the backups. It's going to be a fun fucking time but one thing I want to touch on real quick is as the Jaguars ran the ball a lot on Sunday they Leonard fournette average ten yards yards a carry. He ran for two hundred and twenty yards on the on the ground and John. I know you that I know that you think that running. The football is stupid. I mean in any sense into that now you you. You've always said that passing. The football is a better place to run the football. Oh well yeah obviously so oh. The panthers will finally face a team that is really committed to run the football and over the last four weeks. The panthers haven't been great against the run. They've they've been really good against the pass and setting the team up to throw the football like forty fifty times allows their pass rush to get after them it but I think this is the team that is committed to running the football and this could be a problem so John you and I I have argued about this in the slack a little bit so give me your thoughts on Sunday as far as the Jaguars being a running football team. What do you think like. What do you think the defense in this regard? You should root for every team to be a running team against you because it makes it easier to stop so in simple terms where where did the panthers rank in total defense right are in rushing defense defense right now. Let me look it up. Hold on I know the number. One and number is not that. It's like twenty fifth or something right yeah something like that. Where do the panthers rank in pass Defense Number One. Where do they rank in events that I don't know five. They're a top five defense. Despite having a bad rushing defense it does not matter but the other quarterback has thrown the ball Watson through it the fifty times this weekend I know that the cardinals through it probably about fifty times the rams through it a lot to the only time they really even had success was on the ground. There are like three times that you can point to where teams have been able to win. Games is purely based on running the ball a vikings did in week one last week yeah but they scored sixteen points like they won because their defense like from a defensive point of view you and they scored sixty points return to block punt for a touchdown like their offense didn't work but it's the same thing. I've talked about a lot in the past like the Panthers Panthers even if they give up five yards per carry the five yards per carry isn't an accurate measure of what they give up on a per play basis with the run. It's really like to yards one yard two yards three yards twenty five yards and so on and so forth throughout the course of a game teams have to pass no matter what like sixty percent of the time they run the ball. They're gonNA gain like one or two yards at most and they're going to be behind the sticks and they have to catch up if you can stop them when they have to throw to catch up. You're you're fine. There is no it's almost impossible to go through entire game and not have to pass you can go through an entire football game and not have to run so it's more important this out the best yeah but what happens if they run the ball twenty five times and get over two hundred yards rushing. They'll probably get those two like seventy five percent of those yards on like three runs runs in the panthers will stop be fine for the other ninety percent of the carries bustling format the net yeah especially this is wonderful. That's wonderful link Jordan and then he'll rush ten times for one yard. I think Leonard Fournette has like three seventy. Five yard runs in the average is like two yards per carry for the rest of his career. I guess my concern would be this was a Cam Newton run panther's offense. I wouldn't be concerned about it but this is a kyle. Allen Run Panther's offense where they've scored aside from the cardinals game. You know you should be concerned at all. Brian Kyle got this. He's a franchise quarterback only does win. Trump polly does win win. No matter what the yeah I'm not I am zero percent concerned about the Jaguars run game and I think it's one of those things that ll it's frustrating for old school football fans and it's tough. It's a kind of it. Definitely doesn't look good live when you watch the panthers give up several big runs but it's one of those things over the course of many many years in many many games of of data. It comes out like Oh you can survive. Those rare big plays. Come out of the running game. I'd be less concerned about it if it was like Sean mcvay but it's Doug marrone we're talking about. He's an old school head coach. They're going to run the football John. It's GonNa Happen. I don't care how successful it is in the first clue nut chair either. GonNa Football as much as they can. I don't know Ma'am am after after the first half that could be a problem. I don't think so have you ever seen like I guess it's not true because Eric's have good running games. I've got offense but like there are no teams that are like we're just. GonNa run. Run run run run and have a top offense. The adults been doing it for a while. They don't have they always throw more than people. Give them credit for they do but over the last two years run the ball more than any other team in the league. Have they been a top offense last year. They were yeah scoring or yardage yardage. I'm looking at right now. It's an offense really this year last last year. Last year their eighteenth and offense s a horrible top top. I know they were one of the top teams committed to run the football last year and they did make the playoffs yeah but it's it's. That's like the the false equivalence thing where it's just like..

Five keep sounding podcast for the panthers versus. The Jaguars Kyle Allen Versus Gardner Menchu the battle of the gods upcoming this is Brian joined by John Brad John. How are you doing this evening lovely lovely thank you asking. I always ask Brad. How're you doing all these things in great Brian so the Panthers won their second football game of the season this past week beating the Houston Texans where Shawn Watson through approximately one hundred fifty passes against the panthers defense that is rushing the passer very well and despite Kyle Allen fumbling three football's the panthers came out and won something the Cam Newton has never done by the way Cam Newton has never won a game where he's the ball three times so Kim never fumbled the ball three times in a game. He's fumbled at least twice and has one. Thank you so but to get into a serious note so the panthers played a football game. Texans where the offense basically aside from a touchdown from Christian McCaffrey only really kicked field goals the the defense showed up in a major way sacked Shawn Watson six times. Basically this is a game where this is Ron Rivera fever dream. The defense carried read the offense. Dolphins doesn't really get much credit for the touchdown either because they got the ball unlike a twenty yard line after the sack fumble Yup Yep of Watson this was this was exactly the kind of game that Ron Rivera was looking for as a head coach for the his entire career and he finally got it a game where the defense won the football game so the only game better for Ron Rivera was the bears beating the panthers and he probably couldn't contain his excitement while his team lost seventeen to three to a quarterback that threw seven passes. Hey let's not talk about that football game John. Can we just it's too late and talked about. We just not like that that broke my my ability to pick the panthers ever so but yeah the panthers won this football game with a solid defensive outing. I'll start with Brad Brad. Yes what what did you like. The most about this Texans Panther's game. I'm assuming is GonNa be about the defense because aside from Christian McCaffrey has really nothing to talk about on offense What did you like the most about this showing the panthers to win this football game. We'll give them a man. Joey sly some credit joey sly feel like we finally have a kicker he he's only missed one field goal and it was the first one words yeah and he sinned nail nailing them easily from fifty yards like right down the Middle Johnson. Did we talk about how much of a Dick move it is as for the coaching staff to make their kickers first attempt like fifty five yards. No we do not kind of Dick move. I mean it was his first. I tests and he he didn't pass that one but he passed everyone after that. I'm surprised they didn't apply to get Graham going off of injured reserve after Joey slide. I kick like made game my answer to your question though is just the entire the defense. How about this. Ron Rivera deserves some credit for being a good defensive coordinator this year I agree. He's a great defensive coordinator for somebody who is supposed to be the head coach. Yep absolutely so that's my my winter from from Sunday's game is Ron Rivera the defensive coordinator my winner is Mario Addison because he has five and a half sacks through four games which is he's on pace to destroy his career earlier his career best as far as defensive line sacks goes and a five and a half sacks or games. PUT THEM ON PACE for the record. Yeah it's hard and it's funny because like the guy who's been talked about the most about this defensive linesman Brian Burns and he's obviously consistently Louis been a presence. I mean he's at least blocked two punts and he's been getting after quarterback every game. Mario Addison is kind of being overshadowed because Ryan Burns the first round pick this year but Mario Addison is like you know top league right now as far as pass rushing efficiency the panthers went into this off season with the goal to make their pass rush better and by fucking God they did it and I'm pretty shocked because it didn't take a lot it just took Brian Burns them change in their scheme up a little bit John. Your thoughts on that. I mean yeah. It's it's exciting. I don't understand I feel like it shouldn't be this much better than last year based on what's changed. You'd I mean I know what you mean. I The this is supposed to be this drastic difference. 'cause like one of the things that I've noticed too is like they do run the three four a bit but they still have their like nickel well defense versus forty four down linemen rushing after the passer which is not a different what they did last year but it is so much more effective and I'm sure some some of that is just like Brian Burns being there in jail McCoy's making a bigger difference than people are giving them credit for just because he hasn't putting up big numbers also carry power is not playing like fitness here. It also helps helps. More players play less bad but yeah I I don't know it's. It's doesn't make sense to me but I'm not complaining. It's been very fun to watch. Also the secondary gets should get some props for two because they've gotten several coverage sex. They have James Bradbury. atteberry is still one of the top grade corners in the league right now. Dante Jackson sat out and in response Ross Cockrell rule a relative unknown aside from maybe last week had a pick in had a should have had a second pick with a nice undercut route towards the end zone. Defensive backs are actually not just a bunch of scrubs for once which is cool. I enjoy that I think but Ross Cockrell occur deserved exactly one interception on Sunday. 'cause the first interception was just like feeling it was I meaning. He did stick to his guy and he didn't fall for the for the play fake so I'll give him that yeah that the second one was just him undercutting route. That was a really really good throw in a really good route overall. He just read the ball right to where the receiver is going to be. It was just a good play by his own. Corner is bad for do that. Forgot that needed to learn how to walk again a few months ago yeah not bad at all and the best part is that League league. Maybe not this week but next week probably they'll get Dante Jackson. Dak and they'll have pretty good corners which is always good to have three instead of zero. Three is better than two or one or zero. It's not as good as four though now it is true I mean. JV and Eliot didn't play horribly ably so maybe we do have four half a sack who he deserves to pass rush credit speaking of pass rush credit. Yo Eric read. I feel like this is the best game of his panthers career this past week. I what about the eagles game last year. It's like an interception in that game too. He had interception taken away from him by the officiating so officially. No that's right yeah. Oh that's right 'cause 'cause of the whole new thing yeah for this week. He came he came on as the game was ending. It was the second to last drive by the Texans he he came on disguised blitz-like just right as the ball was snapped. He came up in blitzed causing pressure. That's vern Butler forced his sack fumble which props Vernon Butler and then Eric Reed recovered the fumble and then on the following drive on the hail. Mary Eric Reed Snack the ball out of the air like he was somebody in the NBA swatted. Go a three point shot. You know on him Mary. I feel owning nineteen to battle down is kind of misguided at this point. I think you're better off trying to intercept on the last play the game yes because teams the design their hail Marys to have players ready to catch deflections. I mean read snack is straight down. It wasn't like tipping the air. He he likes spiked like volleyball yeah but do you think have been the less likely for are more likely to catch it if he just caught it. What happens the almost catches it in tips and up in the air many catches it. That'd be very impressive for two tip up in the air. That's dropping from the sky like that. You'll see players. muffed punt up into there is basically what he was doing yeah but you could have like a guy you know come in there and like or the hands of where he's trying to catch the ball and knocking up where it's a little hard to do that when the guys just like. I'm smacking it on the ground nes- just it's it's. It's you have to be careful. I think because if you have to reach back too far like Eric regarding a position bringing spike but there are signs or guys like smack it four or like and their players waiting for it disagree with your point bear in a generic mindset where Eric read was that I think he'd be agreed in isolation in backyard. His play was fine. I'm just saying in general the idea of just knock it down. Don't catch it. I think that's not the best idea but I also just questioned everything. Football coaches tell their players so could be me. Yeah you question a lot of things so before we move onto the upcoming game. I'm what's just talk about the offense for a little bit so Christian McCaffrey testable thirty seven times. That's a two way wining but the panthers did still manage the win despite Kyle and getting sacked fumbled three times he could have had a fourth but instead he managed to somehow dodge. Jj Watt and hit Jerry is right down the field when the panthers really needed him to move the ball down the field so they could take some time off the clock. Antezana field goal. They walk away with the win and nothing wrong. Kyle is the greatest quarterback in panthers history. I feel like too. Many people are glossing passing over the fumbles. They are but he won. People are making comments like that. Kyle Allen one is three and as a starter for the panthers. That's all that matters. I think that's Nah Nah. You know what's funny about that argument to is that as the the exact argument way back in two thousand eleven that every single panthers fan hated because people will say eighty got a better record than Cam Newton so he should be rookie of the year yeah. I have a better comparison Kim fucking Tibo. Yes like that that there too many other variables especially in football. I don't know what other sport quarterback Wednesday relevant well they're. They're very relevant in cricket just record. Your mic broke up. I didn't hear you say the were quarterback. I just heard you say wins or real. Sorry for the snarky then it was undeserved. Yeah I mean like it bothers me that we're still doing this like you know nine years in the Cam. Newton's career were court where analysts are like. Well wins only thing that matters why it's sure but tile works yet. I'm not matter you know they do but like John. Just said it. It's not there's more to it. It's not just the quarterback.
