"But kind of Murray wouldn't say this and Kyla Murray is The same age, even younger than Baker Mayfield. There's no way Kyla Marie last night is like, Yeah. DeAndre Hopkins moves. It sounds like a real G like lasagna. You be like, what did he just say? But Baker Mayfield does it because You know he's trying to play some hip. Their kid. You don't go along with that. You can't You can't drop that willy nilly on nobody. You gotta save it for a good miles. Garrett question. Don't give him so I don't mind that he sat on it again. I think the decision to use it. It all is the problem, not necessarily having in his back pocket, waiting for the right time to use it. That's what that's the problem here. That's the problem is that it's it's inauthentic. That's the problem is that you asked to a tongue Nebiolo yesterday about any one of his teammates. He's not dropping. He moves silence like lasagna. He's just not. He's a professional. So is Cuyler Murray. So are all of these young guys. Joe Burrow. They're not dropping a don't be rap lyric to make somebody laugh, and this is not anything against little Wayne. He's fine. He's very, very good at what he does Little way. Z Littleton hee, but It's this is clearly supposed to get a laugh out of somebody in his inner circle, and it's just about being a professional. It's just about being a professional and all these other guys get it. And Baker still doesn't as though what Don't even joking about looking at trash the Browns or yesterday. I mean, they had three points for 45 minutes of play yesterday. I know the wind was bad in Cleveland. That was the most grotesque game of the weekend. Could you imagine coming out of that game, which by the way? God bless that. Nick Chubb broke it late. Because without that, the Browns coulda lost. Imagine coming out of that. Give me like a nose. Could be funny Rabbit a little way. And Larry is gonna be great, like, wait until you actually do something. You know, real Gs Move in silence like lasagna. I mean, come on. You put up three points. Anybody else kind of wants some lasagna today Or is that just Yes. Yes. I feel like Heathcliff right now regarding the food of the week, which is the one that likes lasagna, Garfield. Garfield. Who the heck is Heathcliff? You don't know who he had. Cliff, is she? Whoa. No, he's the other cart. He's the other cartoon cat that likes to eat things and sleep. There's another one like in sync. The Backstreet Boys like to Boy bands. Do you really never heard of Heathcliff? No, That's a different cartoon. Or is he in Garfield? No, it's a different cartoon. Heathcliff is his own cartoon. They made another cat cartoon with another cat that each lasagna Where is a region? Another Jersey shore show that you're watching right now again? What do you say? Here's Thursday? Yeah, I know. Jurors Day Thursday. I saw the commercial this weekend. How many Harry Potter films that we say that there were last week. I mean, this is what happens if you find a good good formula. You use it. But if they call the Garfield to what? Understand? You're telling me they took Garfield. Somebody want to call her field and eat lasagna in the house. We understand He's a cat. And then they said, You know what else? We need another show with another cat That's also gonna eat lasagna. But this was on these kind of sausage in it. Like what's changed? I think he doesn't eat. Listen. He's other things. He has a big, rotund belly. He's got a big Buddha belly. He sleeps a lot. Causes havoc in the neighborhood, much like a Garfield, but he doesn't actually have a signature dish like lasagna. Okay, So the lasagnas out? It's just another cartoon cat. All right, that I could live with Christmas, Tom and Jerry. All right, cats, a cute, all right. I just thought we were taking the Garfield storyline. Doing another thing. You name it. Something separate. And there was some kind of cold Heathcliff on all your credit. Coffee leads to better. Oh, yeah. I know. Sound effect. Was that now? Yeah. Ryan's which d a that into the whole game yesterday, But I know to it hasn't thrown a pick yet this season. What are you talking about? You're right. My mistake I was talking about that fumbled snap. There's a fumble snap and it goes through to his legs. And then it's kind of squirts out of the pile that is picked up by vigil brought the other way and to what chases vigil down and Yanks him down. I don't know about you guys, but I saw that and said, You know, two or you want to sit this one out because he actually goes up high individual. Drags him down right in the middle, and it could've been an awkward fall for to it. And on that hip, I just got to think, like, Get out of the way. You're not looking to bring down defenders that air £50 heavier than you with a head of steam. But you're right. It was not an interception because, too, has yet to throw a pick in his three starts. When we come back here on the show, we continue breaking things down from yesterday's and F L action. And we want your tweets in here. D A on CBS Again. D A on CBS is we break down? "Reads back? We should get some commercials. They should put my face on CBS Sports Network. So then what? People don't tune in. They look exactly what Oh, I have to take a joke. There had to take a swing. That's fine. Yeah, Yeah, that's that's you know, I'm a people would be looking at me saying I like that kid. I'm going to turn into the show. That's what I like to think maybe Zack killed three years ago. When I was I'm still big. But when I was really among us, like when I was grotesque, Yeah, they probably say yeah, I don't wantto. I don't want to tune into that, but even solve it on television, so Doesn't matter what I look like It just matters what it sounds like. Sounds like you have a sales background. Maybe. You know you can get sales background to have more through dead. Oh, yeah, That's expertise, says he's a salesman. So you know, maybe you can work some magic here and broker a deal. They were going to get in. You know, little extra. Yeah, well, like, you know, a place called to. Ah, are fine bosses here, Mayor Nick and turn off. And Ah, we'll see if they could do anything. Demand. I think the word demand is very strong. I demand pro. Most get rid of my show. Should I go into this Thursday meeting that we have every other week? I think it's this week that we have a meeting. Should I just bring upto like BT and decay. Can you just throw in his act Help show liner in the middle of your show. Right, that would you know, just go to Beatty and and Tiki directly. Now I do play them in the updates. Getting Intel agreed on television. Ah, so technically, CBS Sports Network is promoting the Zach Gil show, so maybe we pay off act then because actors the updates on that show Time to go short and then you go back. I'll go to Zach. Jack will be like I can't do that, Chief. That's that's Yeah, it was Peter. Love your steak. That's what we have to do for rich actor saw spot real quickly. Let me give you the answer to the poll question because I keep on teasing it, and I don't keep on giving my answer. Between these four cubes, which could be would you rather have as your q B for the foreseeable future? Colin Mary Jo, borrow Justin Herbert to a tongue go via lower 9.8% say to a tongue of Iowa 28.6% say Justin Herbert. Wow. So Herbert actually takes the second place. Kyla Murray's a 28% even in 33.6%, Joe Burns, so right now. Two of four Number three Kyla Murray to Herbert. One burro. You know what that means? Because we've done this topic before. We're just kind of resetting it now. People may have been persuaded by by my opinion, because I did say right now, like in the moment. If I wanna win again tomorrow, Murray won Herbert to borrow 32 of four. But If we're talking 789 10 years of just sustained success. I want one burro. To Herbert Murray, three to a tongue of my love for two. It's hunger by law. The concerns of the injuries already ankle hip dislocation only played two games. I put Murray three. I think Murray is a top five quarterback right now, with the way that he's playing this season. But you just wondered. Not that the size is something that I'm concerned about. How much that he runs. Is he gonna be ableto last 7 10 15 years. How many injuries is gonna suffer? Herbert. Bigger quarterback has a strong arm just wanted the organization's gonna fail him. But for Borrow. There's just something that screams to me about what he did, Ellis. You And even though they don't have great team success this year He was able to do against Tennessee a few weeks ago without basically entire offensive line. That was damn impressive. So for the foreseeable future, I go and you could answer that question anyway. You want because Any of these answers are Are satisfactory, I would go for the foreseeable future. I prefer burrow than Herbert that Murray and then to its hunger via lower during the closing.

"Radio real quickly after seeing what we saw last night between Russell Wilson and Kyla Murray, is that the best in division Q B match up You look at the answer North. You'll see Lamar and bend this upcoming weekend Burrow. Mayfield was phenomenal. Yesterday. We'll talk about the brownies a little later on the show. If you want to go, the AMC West. I think for future years Mahomes Herbert's going to be a really solid matchup. Homes being the best Q. B in football, and Herbert has looked great, too, the first few games of his career, But for this year, I would say the two matches that probably intrigue you the most. It's breeze and Brady. No, I think those two quarterbacks we're heading in different directions. This is probably breezes Final year. Brady, I think has another two or three years left in him. Probably another year or two. After this want to play his 45 break doesn't look like he's slowing down. We see signs last 23 years. Of brief slowing down, but I'll tell you from, you know, not just the biggest danger is from an offensive standpoint with the way that the teams were built with the ways that both quarterbacks sling the football and also could kill you with the legs. I would say Russell Wilson calamari in division is the most excited. One gets Foran in division Q B matchup Without further ADO, Let's get to the news brief. Time for your daily news brief. We get you caught up on the rumors, reports and reconnaissance from the day in sports. Let's get to Cam Newton. He was on three picks for Cam yesterday. He says he's putting too much pressure on himself to play well. I kind of felt like I was present too much, you know, understanding what the situation was and the kind of show And you know that's not me. But But yet, through it all being a leader on this team just gotta find ways to get our guy's going to still believe in the fact that we are who we are, and you know that's the positive it himself. No, he's president. He's putting too much pressure on himself because the team is now going into this game. Este lost two in a row got off to a decent start to one more than a decent start. In those games. It was all to get the victory campaign to put all the offenses stuff on his shoulders, run the football throw the football because I'm a lot of talent around him. And right now he's pressing too much, and you're even seated with his mechanics, his footwork. It's all over the place. I think that pressure's getting to him because he knows he doesn't have solid weapons around him. And even when those guys were open, he's short hop in, and he started 10 ft over their head. Cam is struggling right now, there's no there's no doubt about it. Bruce Arians.

"The Eagles tie. Today. You can decide for yourself whether that's a good thing or bad thing. But Carson has struggled so far out of the gate this year, and I took somebody calls this week about all the quarterbacks in the National Football League that have gone by Carson went. Could you go back to 2017 Eagle Super Bowl year? Carson went was right there with anyone else in the league. In dimension of M V P honors with three weeks to go in the regular season, he blows out his leg. Nick Poles does what he does, and Carson has really never been as good as he Waas in 2017 cents, and he's been at his words the last couple of weeks of this year, but one of the guys somebody brought up was Kyla Murray. That Kyla Murray is not better than Carson Wentz. I said, Can we let Kyla Murray play more than just a handful of games before we elevate him to elite quarterback status? He kind of came back to the pack this week, three interceptions mates a big plays, but he also threw three picks. And that was a big reason why they couldn't get by the Lions today, so I know fans like too Both elevate and deescalate people rather quickly as far as their overall game and rankings go. I know that's the want to the fans that I shouldn't let it bother me. But it still does. Ah, yeah, Kyla Murray had a bit of a tough one today in the desert. I would agree with you there so but more days ahead for him and brighter days ahead of a sure so Ah lot to look forward to today. Not one of them. The Cowboys have just connected on a 42 yard field goal to dig a one point lead over the Seahawks are still a couple of minutes left on that and still plenty of time. Just under four minutes left for Russell Wilson and company who trail by one will bring you the conclusion of that one will also take a look ahead. "Let's do it. Let's go. So many topics so little time We give you five stories in five minutes, But don't take too loan or you'll suffer the buzzer. It's time for the blast with Tierney. Alright, Colin Kaepernick is back. He's back in Madden's not the NFL buddies in the video game here, cap was added as a free agent. In the latest Madden 21 update and his 81 player rating is higher than Cam Newton. Kyla Murray and I believe I saw 18 starting quarterback. What's our thoughts on this? Yeah, I mean, it's it's a game. I think I can't get to Over excited about a game. It's it's a game. I don't play it. I'm sure kids love it, and people want to make a big deal out of it. But I'd rather see what you do on the football field because that's all that matters. Yeah, I mean, if Colin Kaepernick was not back, I wouldn't care of Colin Kaepernick where he is back. I don't care The thing that catches my eyes. The rating. And I don't even get too deeply into that. Although I do believe Kyla Murray was woefully rated low. 78. I think it was anything Mr Darnell was rate a little bit too low for my liking. But Um, you know, it seems a little a little aggressive to throw in 81 on a player who even though he had a good touchdown pick ratio years ago, the other stuff was not very good. But at the end of the day, you know whatever. I mean, he's back in the game. Grady's not whatever their symbolism behind the move, we get that, but I don't play. I don't play that particular game. So whatever Ah, David Castro, five time Pro Bowl right guard. He's gonna Miss Week one against Giants. This could help you out a little bit. Tiki Tikis Giants are playing the Steelers Monday night Now if the Castro is out Pittsburgh Web three linemen playing out of position. How worrisome is that for Big Ben coming back from injury? Well, It's a little worrisome there, and it's also amplified by the fact that they don't know what the giant's going do schematically because there's a lot of new players as a new coaching staff, and there's no game tape from the summer. Yeah, right. So you know I don't You know, I don't know that the Giants have enough weapons unnecessarily to make life miserable for the Steelers. I don't think they do. Yeah, The bigger offensively bigger issue for the Giants is can That's secondary, which is I don't say it. Z not malign played together enough to be bad, but they're the expectation isn't high. So if they can't get pressure of front The big pin. The question is, can Big Ben really exploit the giant secondary, which is like really the one weak spot, at least without having any game tape on anybody right now going into this season, so I think it's less about Castro being out more about The giant secondary having future Ms Houston James Washington a couple of other really good players, Chase Claiborne they draft from Notre Dame. I think it's more about Giants defensive secondary than it is about the Pittsburgh Steelers offense of line. Maybe, but I do get Santa's point. If you've got 60% of a new offensive line, and there's a little miscommunication, there could be that one blind shot where he's just but I mean, that could happen to anybody. And I mean it's a voter bill. Maybe I would say maybe a little vulnerable. That's a lot of medication. It's mitigate herbal. If you think there's an issue chip a guy keep keep it tight end. I think that it's overblown. Like the The disruption often offensive line. It's maybe two or three plays out of 60 or 70..

Bengals at the Combine in Indianapolis, taking a closer look at Joe Burrow

"With us here from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where we will be all week so much going on. I'm waiting next with Adam. Schefter Louis Riddick Todd mcshay and Mike Tannenbaum just to catch you up right now. Here's what's happening today in Indianapolis. It will be a very busy week. At Five o'clock eastern though owners are expected to meet players to talk about the new CBA which could expand the playoffs and move to a seventeen game regular season. We've got forty seven. Nfl head coaches and GMT. We'll be talking today. You're also hear from SEC. Standouts Joe Borough and to a ton of Aloha who also addressed the media earlier today. Jonesboro put on an absolute show as you know on route to a national championship for Lsu setting an FBI. Single season record with sixty touchdown passes and Ditto. While completing a whopping seventy six percents of his passes and not only that but bro won the heisman trophy in dominant fashion receiving a record ninety point seven percent of the first place votes here. Our previous comments from Joe Borough on February seventeenth during a reception. For the Davey. O'brien award. He had this to say I do have leveraged the Bengals have their process and I have my process. We haven't even gotten to the combine yet. There's a lot of things that happened. Leading up to the draft. A lot of information gathered bras. Mother Robin shot down the idea. Her son does not want to play for the bengals. Saying we have no idea where that came from. It's a story out there that has created that doesn't have any substance at least from our perspective here Hasbro earlier today here at the combine. Of course I want to be the first pick. That's that's every kid's dream you know I've worked really really hard for this opportunity and I'm blessed to be in this position. I'm a ball player. Whoever picks me on my go show up? How play whoever for forever dressing? You know. I'm just not going to be presumptuous. About what they WANNA DO I. It's the draft. You guys have been covered it for a long time and you never know what's going to happen so we played a month longer than everyone else and everyone else's been training a month longer than us you know. I wanted to put. I don't I didn't think I'd be able to put my best foot forward here at the combine so I wanted to wait till pro day had another whole month of training and just be the best that I could be when everyone when. Everyone's eyes are on me. You know coming in. If you're the number one pick the teen is picking number one. Is there for a reason? So you're going to have to come in. There's going to be ups and downs and you've got to stay steady through the process. Our research tells us about Joe. Borough is his own man. He's not going to be talked into saying things for other people's benefits so if that's what he said. That's that's fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting to know him getting to meet him through. The process haven't been able to sit down with them yet. But we've got that on the horizon. We'll talk more about Joe. Boroughs plans to hold off throwing here at the combine. But might I'll start with you in terms of do you want? Do you not want to play for the being. You have any issues at all with where we landed at least at this point. No I mean as I said last week Joe Borough at the end he does not have leverage. The bengals have the first pick in the draft. If they want to draft. Joe Joe Borough. That's where he's GonNa go now with that. Said I think it's incumbent upon sack Taylor in the Bengal organization to create the Right Environment. Where he could come in and they could build something sustainable and truly transformative so. I think where we wended. Wendy is appropriate last week. He could've handled that better but to Joe Boroughs credit. I think they tweak things I think they're in a good spot now. He's been well-coached past week. Tower doesn't it. Yeah and Adema to your Do All your contacts. It appears that borough likely young he's projected pick. I still think that's where the bengals ultimately go. And they're sitting there and that's about this a team that needs somebody to revitalize that franchise and they are expected to look to trade Andy Dalton at some point this off season and so when you're sitting there in division with Lamar Jackson there in Baltimore think that they know that they have to get somebody in there. That's going to put some points on the Board Baker Mayfield Cleveland and this is going to be the pick for the Cincinnati bengals. Even Joe was considering trying to exercise some kind of leverage really the only leverage you have is withhold your services and not playing not report even if he was thinking along those lines. Let's say he's doing a deep dive trying to figure out exactly. Just what the Cincinnati offer as far as developing me as a quarterback. Could you blame him? Could you really blame him for wanting to dig? Deep on exactly what? What does the future going to look like during over the course of my rookie contract with this football team would exactly? What exactly is Mike Brown's commitment to go ahead and building out this roster around me because we all know a lot of what's going to happen to him has nothing to do with him and has everything to do with everything that's going to be around him. Just look at the past three or four drafts. And how certain players have benefited from going to certain to certain teams? Just look at l a look at the difference between jar rookie year in his second year. Sean mcvay came in. It flipped his rookie year. People were saying Jared Goff to Canada. All of a sudden his second year is like. Oh wait a minute. Maybe he's not so bad you couldn't blame him. If that was a thought Lewis to that point I also think an opportunity. If you're Zach Taylor to say hey what's happened in the past. It's irrelevant we're going to myself with you and we're going to build something great and we can't worry about what's happened before we have a lot of work to do. But if I'm the bengals if I have a hey coach Taylor. That's worked with quarterbacks. Like you mentioned Jared Goff Joe Boroughs Billy and character. That's a great opportunity for the bengals. Sino three things one. Is that if something were to go on with. The bengals is not going to happen in public and this has been addressed in the past week if it's going to happen behind the scenes so whatever we hear from this point on. Don't even don't even look at it. Don't think about it because it has nothing to do with with what is going on behind the scenes. The second thing is this guy's different cab he beats. It goes a Beatles drummer. He doesn't care what anyone else has done. In the past what everyone else is GonNa do in the future? He's going to do what's best for Joe Borough but the third thing I know about him is he's a football guy he's his. His brothers played linebacker at safety at Nebraska. His Dad's a almost four decades coach in football. He's a football guy at its core. He's from Ohio. Obviously I think when it's all said and done he winds up going in Cincinnati if he's number one overall pick but again. If it's GonNa Happen it's GonNa Happen. Not In the media. It's GonNa happen behind the scenes again. Joe Bro not expected to throw on Thursday. He said he just wasn't ready yet. Not a huge deal. Sam Darnold Kyla Murray. The last two years have opted not to throw here at the combine as well. What did make headlines on Sunday? Oddly enough pros hand measurements the measurable quarterbacks took place on Sunday on the smaller side. Love listen here's what he said after it was suggested his aunt size was small considering retirement after. I was informed that we slipping out of my tiny hands. Please keep me in your thoughts while he's got good company because here's what Super Bowl fifty four. Mvp Patrick Mahomes had to say who had just slightly larger hands than did borough my small Andrew doing great so far all right he should say believe in yet. Here's borough earlier today addressing his hands. Yeah I mean these measurements you can. You can take so much from them if it's a glaring issue on film with turnovers. Yeah it's probably an issue but I didn't have a lot of fumbles or anything like that so I just tried to make a little joke out of it I think it's a non factor I don't get paid to talk about. Measurements and analyze. The measurements like played to play football. So that's what I'm GONNA do. I look we're not gonNA make too much of this question. Well yet about what? They actually do what they're actually measuring here so worry not. We've got a ruler. We've got Louis at. I mean really what you're really trying to do is just trying to measure the expense of someone and they put it down on the ground and you actually hear about guys actually doing hand exercises to stretch their hand as wide as possible although when you're grabbing a football you're actually going to measure from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the Pinky here and this is hard because this is a hard rule and you can't really get good accurate measuring you look tired type by just under nine right. Look I'll give you a non center's Oh that's attention and would have actually done something with my. I mean what's interesting when you watch the tape of Joe Borough? There are situations where people come from behind strip him when he's trying to move up in the pocket and run. I mean that's going to happen if you have nine if you have ten inches so I mean it's not a glaring obvious problem as far as him on the football field and that's why I think it's really. It's just going to be something that will hopefully wind up forgetting about certain the biggest thing is and you know this with all of these drills you know as well. Mike you go back to the tape and you're trying to find something after the fact that says okay. Now I'm going to look specifically at these things so you're gonNA look cold weather rain and then ball security and Joe Boroughs as good as any college quarterback you're ever going to see in the pocket in terms of two hands on the ball and protecting the ball. I saw him in two thousand eighteen the last weekend. In September against Ole Miss. You can go back and watch the tape. My suit was soaking wet when I did the open of that game. It was pouring rain driving rain in anyone who says it doesn't rain in Baton Rouge on a Saturday night is lying to you. Because it poured and he completed seventy two percent of his throws with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in that game. So you go back to the tape and you try to look at these things and what the tape tells you is. He's just fine. You know I had a theory here. I have an interesting experience with hand size so I was forced out in two thousand eight. We were we trade for Brett Farve and just as a fan of sport. I can't wait to go out to the first practice and watch Brett farve throw. There's nothing physically imposing about breath and he goes out there and he's throwing Abe I've ever seen and I ask them like what is the value. Where's this philosophy comes from it? He said you know what Mike I have long fingers and I actually couple of football the way a lot of people throw a softball. I could actually be over the top and that's where I get all my philosophy from just watching my practice. It was unbelievable to watch though. I know as Lewis show. There's a tradition of how we measure hands but finger. Length is actually an underrated aspect of playing quarterback so far so far small hands but long fingers and you know what my pinky and all the time strong throwing football pictures of the five. It's easily the least important finger in the hand and I can't remember it ever being a big factor. It's all there in the grip. The pinky to me doesn't matter. It's archaic. How we're measuring the quarterback's hand span now with that. Said there's thirty four quarterbacks in the last fourteen years who have been drafted that have had hands of nine inches and smaller and really only two of them had any sort of Sustained Success Ryan. Tannehill is one of them and Jared. Goff is the other. That's it so there are thirty two out of thirty four. Who have failed. But are we going to say that he's going to the Joe Boroughs? Not GonNa have success because his hands tells me that the reason for their failure wasn't because they were nine inches weight.

The Bears ended an 'especially disappointing' season with an especially disappointing press conference

"Ryan Pace. You're on the clock despite a disappointing season for Mitchell trubisky. The bears announced that he is returning as the team's starter in twenty twenty. There were however some some changes. The team fired four coaches from the offensive staff including offensive coordinator. And then you look at what happened. The last six weeks of the season season. And this is what I think. Gm Ryan Pace has had on you look at the record. Obviously passing yards. Everything improved but dominique. Are you really buying this statement. Because because from my point of view on the outside looking in D- in the Arizona cardinals say you know. What Josh Rosen Guy? By the way Kyla Murray were drafted number. One I'm glad we got Tannenbaum Outta here because in general managers lie that was a general manager generally lying I at least I hope it was because would Mitchell trubisky show like. It's hard to come back with this guy. Considering the way that he performed. I know we got better in part because the coaching around him got better. They started moving out of the pocket and running the ball with a little more. That's encouraging however it's hard to. It's it's impossible to argue that. He's not wildly inaccurate. And that's tough in this league to be wildly inaccurate. Like he is and I

"And because of that we've seen that line dropped down to four, and I gotta tell you even if he played I think Jacksonville's pretty good bad plus for I think that's at home or Kimmy upgrade at quarterback. They still, you know, a lot of defensive talent there. I thought Jacksonville did very well in the draft. Got a good player. Josh Allen off the the outside. All Josh Allen. Yeah. And then got you want Taylor who many if you believe in all these mock draft guys, that's their profession. They get paid good money to do. So I mean, they had you want Taylor going Jacksonville at seven in the first round. They get the same player in the second round. So yeah, I I agree with you. That's a little bonus, selection and speaking of week one NFO you're going to have one at the end of the podcast, right? I am. Yes. RICO kill me. If I don't talk at least a little bit collar Murray, I pick. I got some strong thoughts thoughts on this. And I think we have three historic historically bad. I would say no number sort of say on why I'm not buying. Murray. Short term, I buying buying Kyla Murray. Long-term obviously, the one factor that's out there. That's been probably over discussed is the height, and we did great research on this. But I mean, the fact of the matter is whether he's five foot ten or five foot eleven Kyla Murray is going to be the shortest quarterback in the NFL by by on average by a couple of inches. So I think that's going to be a negative. We can't be the it's not on average. It's just how tall is the second tallest, which is on average. You're your NFO quarterbacks. Like what Russell Wilson's five ten and saying on average says the average NFL starting quarterbacks what's six four six three six six three. So I mean, he's gonna be. Yeah, you're right. He's going to be at least couple fair enough. Misspoke there couple inches shorter than even the other shorter score back fair enough as you got me on that one. So that that's to me look is a positive or negative. I don't think anyone could argue that's a major positive. He's historically short any. Might be half an inch shorter or an international order upon whether he there was some senigon 's going on when he was measured. I gotta tell you. There was he was getting interviewed on the rent, and they have a red carpet there. And there was a woman that was I forget her name. I think it was from the NFL network, and she was like right there. I two I with them same height. And I think she's she's five foot six. No, she five four whatever. It's either five in that five foot five range and somebody tweeted out. Hey, the she is because she's exactly the same height as kind of Murray. The she have a pair of five or six inch heels. And she responded back to the tweet and says, no, I do not have any five inch six inch heels. So those two were either I exact same height when she was interviewing on the red carpet. And of course, straight out of Egas was in Atlanta and Cuyler Murray was in front of straight outta Vegas. I gotta tell you that our own mayor Mackey five nine and a half. And he looked to be exactly the same to me. As Murray and RJ bell who's five ten and a half was quite a basketball player in his day towered towered over Cuyler Murray. So how does that happen in the combine, though, if you ever seen that I thought we're supposed to trust the combine numbers, you know? I'm wondering you wear three pairs of socks. I I don't I don't know are Riley, you know, with his his platform shoes. And in in mash who knows let let the conspiracies fly so historically small. No one's going to argue that I think that's a negative other negative is I I went through and look at the quarterback position. The last twenty years who have been the top ten quarterbacks in the NFL. And then I went back to their college experience and even urban Meyer. He was on the the heard right before the draft..

"I've never said that I wouldn't take Kyla Murray at some point in the draft. I'm just not taking in the first round. I don't care what he did. In college. I round on. The heels when they took a quarterback in the first round twelve months ago. Well, the reporting done by Robert Clem co that's as I dot com has really fascinated. Details about the events leading up to the pick one. There's the cardinals now despite scrubby hemmed from the hype video and other stuff. Reportedly didn't start shopping Rosen in earnest until about eight o'clock yesterday PM to right before the draft right in the dress started. Yeah. That's what he started shopping him in earnest. So even though all the reports out there, even though internally base some sort of decision not to have him be a primary face of your promotions. According to reports, they didn't really seek to trade him until the draft started to and this is my party. Head coach cliff Kingsbury, call of minutes later after the pig pig Heo dog. Yeah. 1st round of the 2019 NFL draft is complete

"Us to the first round is in the books could show for the NFL last night. Just goes to show you the popularity of this league. And I I know I keep harping on this. But it's bears repeating there were a lot of people who made a lot of bones for themselves by predicting the death of this league, eventually real demise of this leak, but there were over one hundred thousand people if not close to two hundred thousand people that descended on natural last night that that went very very deep down Broadway. They were everywhere rooftop bars. They were coming out of windows. They were pouring off of bridges just to see this. It was let me make this clear. This was big. Business by the league. This could have been done behind closed doors. No one needs to watch the draft. No one needs to make it. You don't have. They don't even have to make a television show the sporting event that they do that has to be a television show that has to be for the public. That's how you make your money. The business side of this picking players that doesn't have to be a show that doesn't have to be on stage. That doesn't have to be a festival that could have been done in a in a bar in a ballroom in New York City like it used to years past, but because people want this product because the league wants so wants to connect with its fans make the fans this is why the big celebrations over the last couple of years they've taken this thing on the road. In essence, this is this is become the NFL's big party for the public a Super Bowl not so much because you're bringing in fan bases of two teams. Right. If you're a dolphins fan, you just don't go to the Super Bowl to hang out. But you can go to the drafting you can go to wherever city that the draft is having and you could hang out, and I saw jerseys from every team last night everywhere. It was awesome. It was my first draft was I loved it. But but the picks over the money is made for this the picks, or what is the talking point not the rain, not the band, not the Goodell booing, not the, you know, the colorful fans that came out in their costumes. What mattered was the picks and Kyla Murray going number one set this draft up to be normal. But then the raiders kind of made made a big move with the fourth pick. They took us lean Farrell at Clemson the edge rusher. Now, this was the surprise pick that John. Talked about now. Listen for Rosie good play. A really good players. A first team all American. You won the Ted Hendricks award for the best defensive end in college football. He played for a defense. That was one of the top defenses in college football for the top team in college football. Okay. But he could have been had in the twenties. They really liked him. Or at least wanted to make a statement that they were going to get him. But he wasn't projected to be a top five pick. Now, why the raiders made him a top five pick? When he wasn't projected. Who knows maybe the don't listen to mock draft guys all the time. Maybe it's because they don't listen the pundits. They are really they day. See something that they think other teams are going to see like they are. So they do their draft board. They watch him. They watch it. He's a beast. They watch him play. He's great. They want him at four. But they think other teams want him at six or seven or five or whatever. So they have to feel like they make the move. If this is the guy they really want. They get them. Now. Here's the thing. I can criticize the raiders you can criticize the raiders for making that pick early because they had two picks later on. But maybe the reality is that the two guys in the twenties, which we'll talk about later that they knew that they could get there. And those guys they really wanted to. So in essence, I can't fall to team forgetting who they want, but I can criticize where you get that player. And none bigger than what the giants. Did it six? This to me was the shocking move of the draft. This had everybody in the media Senegal. Daniel Jones of Duke getting picked in the six spot from the New York Giants who had the seventeenth pick in the draft and could have gotten them there. I thought need a huge mistake here. Jones. Is a David cut cliff product. He is a manning passing academy product the giants like the way he threw it pro day, but you don't make this move at six. There is defense of galore on the board. And you've got to go get Josh Allen is on the table. And you let him go you see how fast Jacksonville made their pick. When they took Daniel Jones. Josh Allen Kentucky was on the board for the giants. They could have gotten one of the best edge rusher in the draft. And they went quarterback a position right now. This very second. They don't need. They would probably have liked but don't need because the move you made. Here wasn't just getting a good old quarterback tobacco ally. Manning for couple years. This is going to be your franchise guy. Are you that Schorr Daniel Jones at Duke is your franchise guy? If you have manning plate next year, you could have set yourself up for getting Jalen hurts Jake from two tons of Loa any other quarterbacks. They you still can don't get me wrong. You could pull one Arezzo pulled and get your second quarterback. But normally that's not how it's done. I can see the New York media, and they're already started. Daniel Jones is the least popular draft pick. The giants have had in a long time. Hey, must've really fell in love with because I don't get this one at all. And I know I could be nice. Oh, he did really good at two key. He throws a good ball. He was accurate up above you. Just still don't make the play here. Dave Gettleman smarter than this. I praised the Gettleman higher coming from the Carolina Panthers to New York, but but can eat does. He know what he's doing with. Does. He have a plan for the for the New York Giants for this football team. Because I don't see it. And the other thing about about where the giants are going here. Is again, you just put ally manning on the clock. Now, I've been telling you, this is this is why I wouldn't have done this. If I was to get my my franchise quarterback with the sixth pick. If you wanna get a quarterback just to get a quarterback get him at seventeen or in around two or three. Now, drew lock is available for crying out loud. But by making the statement, you've put ally manning on the clock. Luckily for manning, this isn't a popular pick with giants fans. Because if it was a popular pick with giants fans, then Eli is gonna feel the pressure next season. And he's going to feel his career and his light on his career diminish after everything he's done for New York ending by being benched for this kid and never getting his job back. Luckily, this is not a popular pick. And maybe get him into saying this is the guy that has to learn and grow, but we like his long-term

NBA Draft 2019: Latest 1st-Round Order, Predictions

"And ladies and gentlemen, we have a new mock draft out Mel kiper Jr's three point. Oh is here with us. And we are looking forward to the draft. Mel will join us in just about an hour to talk about the new mock draft. But there have been some changes in the draft specifically one less quarterback. Now going in the first round then in mel's two point oh mock draft. So we have four in the two point oh mock draft with Daniel Jones from Duke rounding out of the last pick of the draft to the patriots in the first round of thirty two. There are only three quarterbacks now in the first round, according to mel's latest mock. And obviously a retirement might be a big reason why and the quarterbacks have changed as well. Right. As far as where they're they're going. Well, Cuyler he still has Tyler going number one derozan. Well in his last draft Cuyler going number thirteen to the dolphins. So now and this draft he hasn't going number one. He had. Dwayne Haskins going number six at a giant Kyle Murray. Going number thirteen to the to the dolphins. Drew lock going fifteen to the Redskins and Daniel Jones going thirty two to the patriots. So as you mentioned Daniel Jones now out of the first round, according to the latest mock draft by Mel kiper, just three quarterbacks Murray number one. The main says Dwayne Haskins at number six, and you start to hear reports that the giants may go defense was six and then was seventeen go quarterback. But right now twain Haskins at six and then drew lock sitting there at number thirteen for the dolphins. Does the only three quarterbacks in this latest first round. Yeah. Going to be very interesting because we know what the giants listen one thing. Dave Gettleman has made very clear he does not feel beholden to tell us his plan. And so I don't feel overly beholden to believe. A lot of what we're hearing coming out of the giants can't because if you've got a guy who's basic messages trust me, I got this. Well, then we understand he doesn't feel like he has to tell us the truth. So as we hear these things. Coming out. We also understand this time of year is about deception to an extent it's trying to manipulate the draft order trying to manipulate the opinions of certain players. So that you can try and put yourself in the best position to get the guys you ultimately want. So it makes it difficult to try and read the tea leaves it is although I have to say on cattlemans behalf. He said all of last spring saquon Barkley is a generational talent with the second overall pick. And that's where he went. Look, I think we all agreed. There has to be a quarterback in the giants future. Whether it's at six or seventeen trade now Cleveland, but it would not surprise me in the least if Dave Gettleman waited until the second or third round to take a quarterback this Dave Gettleman, he created that created, but he he made the term a more of a vernacular in the NFL draft hog molly's when he was the GM of the Carolina Panthers. He loves the big guys to hog mollies. And let's be honest. This draft is going to be decided outside of Kyla Murray. More than anything else about the big defensive lineman in this draft. The hog Molly is on the defensive side of the ball. So depending on your draft grades for your quarterbacks you could take one of those at six and then a quarterback at seventeen it all depends again on your on your draft great. If twain Haskins is highest on the board and draft grades. You don't pass that up. If you have a Dwayne Haskins drew lock. And whatever other quarterback equal in grades. You know, maybe use that seventeen pick baby can trade it up somehow to get one of those guys as I said, this always comes down to grades. Do. You have a choice amongst grades. Are you close enough in quarterbacks where if you don't get one you try and get the other? But we'll see we'll see, you know, one of the biggest changes in from the last two this for Mel was they had the patriots taken Daniel Jones a quarterback, and this one I serve Smith junior the tight end from Alabama going, and that would not be shocking at all you have really three out of the top tight end Hopkinson the kid from Iowa teammate, Noah Fant, and then Smith junior all three likely to go in the first round a three first round tight end to on the same team come on. And what would that tell you as we saw? The patriots jump into the first round and take a running back and Sony Michelle at the end of that. And now to see in the next year three tight ends going. We've talked about this. However, you want to split it. Last year were Quinton Nelson. Went in the top ten in the draft as an offensive guard. We saw roquan Smith going the top ten as a middle linebacker. The middle of the field is worthy. NFL is being built right now. And other teams are starting to catch up to what the patriots have done for years. The way that we've seen teams export that specific area and three tight ends in the first round would hammer that home not denying that. They are guys that are certainly probably more talented than usual tight end groups. We're used to seeing but it's also about value. It's why you see running back taking it to overall by the giants last year. I mean, the other thing is I think they're more interior linemen in this first round then quarterbacks right? Like, a not tackles guards and centers. There are more of those according to males latest mock than there are actual quarterbacks being taken which would be very unusual. So the top five in this new draft that Mel kiper put out is Kylie Murray. Number one of the cardinals Nick both the D N number two to the forty Niners. Number three. Josh Allen the outside backing backer pass rusher going to the jet number four Cornyn Williams. To the raiders and number five guy making a pretty big jump. Devon white going to Tampa Bay at five in the last mock draft he was number eleven to the Bengals now in mel's draft. He is sitting at number five number six twain Haskins seven Joon Taylor. The offense attack from Florida going to Jacksonville sweat, the D N going to the lions at eight Sean, Gary the D N going into the bills from Michigan and TJ Hopkinson. The tight end going to the Broncos at number ten. Here's here's what I wanted to talk to Mel about and one of the issues that I have laid on me big fella with with this draft comes, you know, some some point and one of them is there are few prospects in new first round projection who are making their debuts because of their combine performances. There are four guys who have jumped into mel's first round who weren't out there before again based on the combine combine performances. I don't understand that. I don't I don't understand that. If you wanna say. You looked at the combine to go back and look at tape of them. But to say, they're combine performance jumped them up that doesn't compute to me. Well, I think that's I think that's the assumption though, is because of their performance you went back and look and that. That's fair. That's why I want to ask them. How did this? Make you go back and study them more. Because if you're just basing things off the combine I got a real issue with that. Yeah. I I don't think you would do that or teams. But at the same time, you look at the positions of the majority of the players that would be involved in that. And I think this could be true for teams as well. It's interior offense. It is right. Three interior offensive linemen Terry McLaren the wide receiver, but when it comes to interior offensive lineman. You wanna talk about an area where the scouting grossly lags behind to actually great and overall draft. It's a difficult area for a lot of people to see and understand because you don't have the benefit of a lot of stats. You don't have the benefit of even the combine members necessarily always translating to production. So when those guys go and they paying and they flag in the model somewhere for what they do at the combine. And then you go back and spend some more time looking at a guy like Lindstrom who wasn't going to be a big name. He wasn't like, you know, Gary bradberry from North Carolina State won the Remington award this year. Like that guy was a stud Boston College was a middling. Okay. ACC team this year. So Lindstrom wasn't getting the credit. He deserved even being as good as he is. So you go back now, and even these NFL teams, maybe we're late to the party on some of these guys all of a sudden start giving them an extra. That's why I want to ask I just wanna make sure with Mel that because I'm just reading from the combine performance, and again, let's put a name. To those you mentioned McLaren the wide receiver who is one of the others. Chris Lynch reminder, you just mentioned from Boston College now. Number twenty one to Seattle Eric McCoy interior linemen going number twenty two to Baltimore. Right and the Garrett bradberry. The Senator from North Carolina State who is you mentioned one the Remington award is the best center in the country number thirty one to the LA Rams where they have an aging center, and John John Sullivan. And that was that was one of the things have been saying for the Rams the last couple of years that dynasties been built on the interior. If you land a guy like that good, Lord or you winning out it is. So we'll see how that plays out. Now, the one thing that I find interesting he he has drew lock the third quarterback Mel dozen his latest mock going thirteen in Miami. I'm telling you don't take out Denver at ten in Cincinnati of eleven in play for quarterbacks. I mean. Yeah. Denver made the play for Joe flacco. But John Elway has messed this up a couple of times with all due respect. I mean, that's just outside of getting Peyton Manning. He has not figured out the quarterback spot there at ten they might be in play for quarterback. And you have Andy Dalton with his situation with the Bengals and his contract situation. I, you know, I think that there's a really good chance that they could be in play with a quarterback there, by the way, by the way, Mel kiper Jr's mock draft not the biggest item related to the draft this week. That will have news for you guys. What more on that coming up later? This week

"The reports are correct and take Kyla Murray. Kingsbury copy now because I'm giving you quick take. Hey above with Thailand thinks he would drink for his offense of what he wants to do. He's got long term job security, then he should trade. Josh Rosen provided that they can get a first round pick. Okay. And by the way that the cost of that. You know, is that there is a cost which is the take Murray. They don't get their closer who I believe it's generational passer. I think there's like four or five in his class, quite frankly. But they're not they trade. They're not picking in the top five. So you can throw that out the window. But if he truly loves them, he should take it. Now personally. I I like Josh a little bit better, actually. But again, it depends on the authors. It depends on the scheme in certain schemes. Kyla Murray is better. They're both phenomenal quarterbacks looking at Jacksonville. It's reported that that's where Nick foles will land. How do you think that fit will work in the future? It depends on how much they're paying. They're paying Nick foles more than forty two million dollars. So you're working off of case keenum's contract last year. He had two years thirty six about twenty guaranteed. If they go above that. I really don't like it. They'll he's already. They're already really pressed with their cats, and they're going to have to make a bunch of teams to do whatever they can make it work. But what people? Nick foles. They're talking about him like he's two thousand seventeen SuperBowl MVP, Nick foles. He's been over the course of his career. Now. I think he's a very good quarterback when he plays very well. But he's one of the highest various passers I've seen over the last ten years. I'm you're talking about a guy who's lows were extraordinarily low. And there weren't that long ago. Now, Jack, I see why Jacksonville's interested in because they view their roster as a win now roster. They think we've got defense. But that is not good around Nick foles. If you think that he he's going to be exactly as good as he wasn't Philadelphia, yours her read awakening because that offensive line those weapons esteem, they do have jaundice Aleppo is coordinator, Philadelphia. It's a downgrade. So I wouldn't I I understand why they're doing it in the right price is reasonable. But I wouldn't expect it to be peaches and cream or anything compared to what we saw from him in the post season. I wanna go back to both said Murray real quick since you mentioned the of where do you think? Who do you think is more valuable to a franchise? That franchise changing guy who can get to the quarterback or the franchise quarterback that can actually get the offense there if they need it to. It's a quarterback you still build around the quarterback. Right. Just because the value. Not yet. Both. Elite pass rushers quarterbacks actually make pretty comparable money. These days, y'all know in Chicago. But if you don't have a quarterback, you don't you don't have a team you don't have a Super Bowl team. So I if you think you can get a rookie. We can really be the long-term answer. You always go for that over the pasture eating someone. I think is polished and hasn't highs upside Nick Bosa speaking of having the finite quarterback to get to the next level. The giants went five hundred eleven in the last year if they figure out the quarterback position how dangerous and how quick in this team really turning around. You know, I don't know what the giants are doing guy. I didn't like what they're doing for a couple years. Now, I didn't I didn't understand their decision making last year. They'd get them in the GM and said, they wanna do the Alex Smith, Pat, Mahomes model, right? Where you have the veteran. They're gonna stick with Eli this year and have a rookie who learns behind him have done that last year. But that is contingent on idea that you're finding first of all the Alex is significantly better than Eli manning is now okay and its final year, and you don't find Padma hose and every draft club. So I mean, they would be nice if it worked out for them. But even if it does go that way, you know, you're entering the later years of Odell contract that defense needs a ton of work. I don't know what they're doing Landon Collins. So they don't really have. I think a incredibly talented roster in a month's. They have a quarterback who is truly transit into like, Pat. I don't really think that it's guaranteed. They're going to be suddenly a playoff team. The Rams struggled to score at old baseball team struggled to score in the Super Bowl. And they've got a problem with with with Gough is their quarterback moving forward. They're trying to decide whether or not obviously, they should pay him. The bears are in a similar situation where everybody's Chicago things. We're always one year behind the Rams now. So do you think is the guy for the Rams and do they have to pay a quarterback just because he's good enough to be a quarterback in the same situation happens here in Chicago where we're like, oh, we're on Mitchell Trubisky is rookie contract. And eventually we're going to have to pay him. We'll no you you don't have to pay him. You can move on and get another quarterback. How do you rate those two quarterbacks in terms of how similar they are to each other? Yeah. This isn't going to be the most popular hometowns answer. But I. This show will down. Yeah. We're cool. You're in a safe space. Realists? All right. Gotha showing me a lot more than Mitch Trubisky. Now, we've got numbers the first twelve games this season. And certainly what you've got solid Chicago is not pretty and what was on people not pretty well. He has the tools, you know, the failings of the Super Bowl. I thought were mostly mental failures more than anything inability to sort of read the field process. What the patriots are doing? Now a lotta quarterback process with the raiders were doing, but they're gonna pay him on say right now, you know, he he's had high up high accurate enough. It can do all the stuff they want. I think they're not gonna wanna roll the dice on another young quarterback. As far as cargo, I thought Mitch Trubisky was the limiting factors to that team. You know, you take quarterback who's even let's say he was a B minus C. Plus, you go up one letter grade that team's going to Super Bowl in my opinion. So I think it's a huge year for him next year, and it should not have. We should not be guaranteed that they stick with them. Put a long-term Unicom's joining Chris black ama- dollar here on ESPN one thousand and the ESPN app, you know, your favorite team the Seahawks. They're a team that we already always reference to with win this whole conversation because the moment the Seahawks had to pay. Russell Wilson the dynamic of the team completely change because you can no longer overspend. Defensively what what's your perspective on the path that the Seahawks chose in giving that big contract? The Russell Wilson. And how life has kind of changed since then. You can pay your veteran quarterback if he's the right quarterback. You look at the teams a major the postseason. They were teams was rookie guys on rookie contracts, rather. And then they were teams with very good elite veteran quarterbacks Andrew lucked. Their Russell Upton. Brady's breeze, right? The problem that you can't overpay. You can't get a huge contract to a mediocre quarterback. The Seahawks hasn't struggled. We struggled. They've only missed the playoffs once, but they they haven't been slightly worse in recent years because they paid Russell Wilson. They've been worse in recent years due to a combination of a few bad contracts given out to players on defense injuries and bad draft. So I actually think it's, you know, it's not a people place too much blame on these big quarterback contracts. Typically, though when a team like that suffers there's other reasons, and you can, you know painted on decisions made by the GM who do you think should pick up Antonio Brown? And where do you think he's the best fit for? Well. In a team like Green Bay or Kyle Shanahan has often to San Francisco. But we are hearing the raiders titans. Washington's is not the sexiest trio relatively I I wouldn't be surprised if it's the raiders guys just because they have the assets, you know, they they have the cap space if they wanted to give a big contract, and they need to cell phone sex appeal where they go into Vegas. So that seems like a likely destination for me, do you think long-term Jon Gruden figures it out with the Oakland Raiders? I would say more likely not. Know, I don't hate Gruden strategies the thing like, I actually I kind of you know, obviously MAC that you know, is not turned out well for him to him complaining about his lack of the past Russia's not helped his cause at every turn. But I like the idea of a team saying, hey, we're not gonna win the Super Bowl. So let's rip it apart and start over. I you know, I kind of like what Cleveland did for a while there. The problem is Yonkers has not shown an aptitude for finding talent in the draft signing free agent. If it was another guy running the team, and he is running the team. I would be more through the ask about it. But he has to show me. He could find guys. I love having him in the NFL though, because you have no idea what he's going to do in this draft. Like he could take a quarterback at screw everybody over. He could take one of these ends that fall, and he could get a powder another great pass rusher in there to to to make up for Khalil Mack leaving. And like you have like I don't think anybody has any idea what he's going to do. I'll tell you guys this. We talked about Colin Murray either watch the raiders as a potential team to trade up for Kyle Murray, obviously that would be mania in on draft night. But that's not that's something that I've been hearing whispers about we know Gruden likes them. It's something that could happen. Is there a team? I know we're really early. We haven't even gotten to the traff standard sports radio question here. Now is there a team that you're looking at in the off season, you kinda keeping your eyes on your like that's a team that didn't really have a great season last year. But I think that next year they're going to be a team that surprises a lot of people. So a team that maybe missed the playoffs. I mean. You know teams that should have made the playoffs were Green Bay. And pittsburgh. But I'm not extremely doozy. Ask about Pittsburgh at the moment. Green Bay is going to be a fascinating team to watch just because of the amount of change. That organization is undergoing I'm very high on Cleveland. You know, obviously, they were very hot down the stretch. And just all those pieces are still in place of loved the Freddie kitchens higher above speaking with what was working and I love Baker Mayfield phenomenal talent. So that's the team that I think could potentially win the division. That's a good answer to go back to Green Bay. How do you think Aaron Rodgers get along with Matlock floor? Well, that's that's the. Wildcard there. I think I think it will go. Well, you know, the air Rogers. You know, there is there was a lot of talk about him in McCarthy and how much their relationship disintegrated Rogers ignoring the play calls and stuff. I don't think that was necessarily. Telling Rogers personality or sort of there's not a lesson to learn from that say that Rodgers would be that way. Because he hasn't been that guy his whole career wasn't that guy in college. I think it was more just our relationship had run. Its course. So I wouldn't be surprised if the floor comes in running Shanahan's offense, if Rogers is more open now to me, the bigger question is do they have the talent to execute it? Right. Because the that the offense needs a lot of work they need to add some guys to you. They're gonna raise their running game and more next year. But I'll be curious to see how it all fits together. Thanks for joining us tonight. We really appreciate it. Thanks for having me guys. That's many times. NFL rumors: Kyler Murray seen 'universally' as No. 1 pick in 2019 NFL Draft

"Right. So the NFL combine is about evaluating talent getting ready for the draft. But according to the NFL network, it's done. Done vision has been made on who will be the number one pick in the NFL draft. In fact, it's so certain now that teams that are picking in the top ten of already given up on the idea that this person could be available to them because it's done. He will be the number one pick in the draft. Now, if you don't know the cardinals have the first pick in the draft, and according to a consensus overwhelming consensus, the decision has been made the Arizona Cardinals with the first pick in the NFL draft will select. Cuyler Murray quarterback Oklahoma. Now, here's what they're saying. In terms of Murray, people are beginning to believe almost universally. He will be the number one pick of the cardinals impact team. Speaking of the top ten believe they have no chance of drafting Murray. He's not the biggest quarterback in the world. But he is very big presence at the combine. Now, remember Arizona drafted quarterback last year. Brown named Josh. By all accounts, is is sort of a throwback to what used to be considered the prototypical, you know, quarterback the size and everything else like that. No. That's not a throwback at all. Steve. I I I I would agree with you that there are certain offenses like we see every single season that are going to employ more mobile looking quarterback running a style offense that is different from what we typically see. But the majority of the NFL is still running an offense that is tailored around the need for a pocket passer who can understand complex offensive systems who can read defense's in throw to the open, man. And so I don't think he's a throwback at all. I think he's he's really sort of in line with what a lot NFL teams are looking for. And so you're suggesting that the Arizona Cardinals are going to be looking to trade Rosen. Well, here's the deal. Now, this gets back to the hiring a cliff Kingsbury. You know, how it is? It's a copycat league. So this all came about because clip Kingsbury coach Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech, by the way without much success. I mean, they were they weren't a top team with Patrick Mahomes as a quarterback running that Texas Tech offense. I mean, he's putting up these numbers that we saw for years. I mean, granted guys all these other guys at tech stack, including clip Kingsbury himself back in the day pouring up these big numbers. But because he coached him. He must know something. I mean, he he must have some of that, you know, Patrick Mahomes magic to him since he coached him, even though he got fired by Texas Tech. But now, here's here's what color Murray said about cliff Kingsbury, he says coach Kingsbury, I know the type of offense he Razzie recruited me out of high school. And I have a great relationship with him. Now, if I were to play under him, I think it'd be a great deal. But I don't get to pick players. I just show up. And I do when I supposed to do obviously be. Very comfortable how it operates the offense. So there is this belief that with kings varies offense that Kyla Murray is going to be a superstar. Now, if you're the cardinals organization, you have higher clip Kingsbury a guy who has a losing record as a head coach at the collegiate level on a flyer that somehow the magic we saw from the breakout superstar the NFL this year. Patrick, Mahomes has some connection to clip Kingsbury. And he could do it with another quarterback that runs a similar style offense as Oklahoma does. And with Kyla Murray, by the way, who set an all-time NCAA record this year for passing efficiency breaking the record. A Baker may have from the previous year and the exact same often. So I ask you right now if you were to put Josh Rosen on the trade bloc. What would he garner or do, you hedge your bet if you're Zona keep Rosen just in case Murray is what you think he is. This is what I would do. This is what I would do. I would either a I would check in with cliff Kingsbury. Make sure that things are going good between he and Josh Rosen as far as sculpting an offense that both parties are comfortable either way. That's something that you're going to do on a weekly monthly basis with your quarterback coach with your offensive coordinator, certainly your head coach who has an offensive mine, and is going to be calling plays most likely if you get the indication sometime before I dunno April first that you're not able to run an offense with Josh Rosen. You look to trade them you look to trade him. I mean, and you start shopping that sooner than later because here's the deal. Everybody's got their war room. Everybody's got their draft board. Everybody is kicking the tires on these prospects. Josh Rosen has played a year and then F L. Now love it or hate it. We've seen what he looks like at NFL level. We've seen him against NFL talent. So now it's time to strike while the irons hot this decision needs to be made. So I would say you still have a month before you have to make that decision. But but the clock is ticking.

"Here's toadied, isn't it amazing? How we are obsessed though with the Kyla Murray situation how we are with these kind of numbers. How tall Z what's his weight? What's his hands is as fans, not just general managers? Not just scouts are looking into the draft ability of Carl Amari, but his fence Cuyler Murray's height was news was big news and fans ate it up. Because we are we are so entrenched into the NFL in the way, it does everything it's not just give me the product in the fall. And then I'll maybe I'll watch the draft. It's we're involved in everything we have these conversations about athletes. We're we're really as fans we're not super qualified to make but we'll make them anyway. Because again. Then we go back to were so entrenched with what they do. And a lot of people would major league baseball. A lot of people like baseball, though, go to baseball games, but they're not as entrenched with how this thing about the baseball draft for a second. How many how many of you even know half the players that are drafted a quarter a third ninety nine percent, nobody nobody enlist your college baseball fan or your following some high school kid from Long Beach. Most of us don't recognize the names that are get drafted into major league baseball. And then because you don't see them for a couple of years, anyway, it's almost irrelevant but with the NBA draft the NFL draft these these things are immediate. So we are if you're a giants fan, for example, it's not so much that you care about the height of Kyla Murray. It's icon I care about the height of Murray because my team may get him my team may draft him. And if that's the case, I want to know more about him. Now there is the natural curiosity like my team is going to draft him like Kyla Murray? Is it going to be on the team I root for I'm curious? As to where he is. Because of he won the Heisman Trophy. He chose football over baseball people have openly talked about his size being a detriment to whoever takes them. So it becomes the this becomes news. Would it doesn't become news in that weird way? That sometimes we get with other sports. No, it becomes normal news that we digest from the NFL because that's what we do. Coming up. More NFL news, including the return of one particular player that ends another national nightmare.

"Kyla Murray would be at the NFL combine all five was I'll tell I'll tell everyone picked under five ten according to multiple sources, Ian Rapoport says Oklahoma quarterback Kyle Murray's measurements. Five foot ten and one ten. No, Mike, no way. No way. He can now be drafted number one. We all went under five ten this white hot news. Number one yet. We're all picking there. You heard me go higher than that? I think. Yeah. I don't have a second source on that. It's it's coming in. We don't have his weight or is other measurable. But we'll keep an eye on the story. If it changes if he later in the day is less than five ten we'll update you fix ox or you go barefoot with that. I don't know. Maybe lifts implants. He'll he'll implants. Yeah. It could. ID wait enhancer winners to apparently what I'm I'm the the rumors are that he's doing good. Wait, wait. You have details on this. Not confirm yet. We're still we're still verify confirmation Adam Schefter Kyla Murray. Five foot ten and one tenth of an inch two hundred and seven pounds. Oh my God. He's number one nine and four eight on the hand nine and four nine thousand nine as well. It'd be nine and a half. Yeah. That sounds wrong. Nine point four. I've seen nine. Charles robinson. Wingspan sixty nine and four eight. Yes. Eight sixteenths. We don't do this for any other sport. Right. There's some other interesting. Somebody say, you know, he's got small hands in the NBA. Like, we talked about quite Leonard's hands, or, you know, Kevin Durant wingspan. But when it comes to the NFL our quarterbacks every last detail we want. Yes, mclovin. Dwayne Haskins is six three and three eighths, try to guess his way you've seen them up close and personal. Two thirty to thirty one. That's it's way bigger than everyone in the class. He's big. Yeah. Yeah. That's real nice. Big thought he was running quarterback. That's been. No, he's not luggage. Show that he was runner. He's he's not. However, he's not. Thank you got profiled there. But you gotta be a running quarterback. No, no. He's not. He's not at all. Yes. Mclovin. Yeah. He can't run it. I think it's a bit of a problem, by the way that he he really can't run. Well, I Tom Brady kit run either. That's true. I mean, so what it's good to talk where tobacco short quarterback a mobile quarterback at immobile quarterback. Give me the formula. There is no formula. There is. But I think if you have certain traits certain characteristics, and that you wanna be great like all roll out all of that. And it's like Baker Mayfield. You know, people said he's six feet tall. Does. He want to be great. Does he play big and big moments is the leader? And what happens when he throws an interception. He gets knocked out. That's what you find. That's how you sort of look at a quarterback and go, okay. You got a chance to make it. So I don't know Cuyler Murray's personality. I don't know if he's a leader. We saw Baker Mayfield their times he was a leader. And at times petulant, but he he loved the moment..

Is Kyler Murray the best running QB the NFL has ever seen?

"Said this earlier arguments say it again, and I know a lot of people are going to disagree as they runner. Cuyler Murray is the best running quarterback. That's. Ever come into the National Football League. Even Michael Vick. You can go back and watch which I've done you can also look at the stat sheet. Kyla Murray in his last season or his last two years at Oklahoma average, two more yards a carry than Michael victims and his career at Virginia Tech. He's just a little bit more dynamic because of his short area. Quickness. The last thing I would say is he's one of the best passers to go along with that athletes as runner that we've ever seen. His accuracy is off the charts not quite Baker Mayfield. But it's off the charts. If I'm in the top five, I'm taking Cuyler Murray dudes of football playing Jesse. And you gotta understand that those who are are thrown off by his size. I remember war dome when he came into league and that was listed at five nine one eighty and every defenders listener chops off can't wait to get on them. Play twelve years league, three pro bows? And I never got a square shot on them. And I never seen. Anybody? Get one. Is this like you sit. Yes throws. That's short area space when you get into. That phone move with that guy. And you think you have all the vantage because of your size that quickness he's gonna take four steps before you take your next one, and he's going to be out of there. And I think that's going to play think the real interesting thing for me is always think about the fault mechanisms of the quarterback Cam and the default mechanism if your default mechanism is from the neck up, you'll survive even being smaller, even being athlete gifted even being able to move around. If you're the fault mechanism is from the neck down. You're in trouble. Meaning I'm just gonna take off and run around here and throw my body throw caution. My my body to into harm and all those things they're caution to the wind like if that's your fault mechanism. And so then it comes down to who's actually a gifted quarterback because the gifted quarterbacks when things break down Bill extend the pocket, they'll move around. They'll even escape the pocket, but they're gonna make their decision from here up. Joe and Kenny do that. And I think he can. Yeah.

"Kyla Murray, Colin capita, Kevin Durant? Kevin durant? First Bryce Harper. Second. Durant winning the VP mean anything of the all-star? Yeah. Does anybody extract anything further from that? I notice it. Lebron Durant got really competitive after Jaanus would just blew the doors off everyone for the first three quarters. Well, when I'm looking at the lineups when they're introducing the lineups. And I went Ken team. Lebron is gonna kill team Jonah's. And then all of a sudden John and his team jumped out to a big lead. And I'm gonna man they're they're looking good. Chris Middleton hidden bombs there, and I'm going, man. I totally misread this roster. Yeah. I think it's the psychology the younger guys on Janas team fired up shot out of a cannon. And then when they started playing it just a touch of real basketball, the second half, the talent proved out. Yeah. All right. Best worse for the weekend. What you guys saw that you liked. You didn't like we'll get to more phone calls coming up eight seven seven three DP show. I saw where Donovan Mitchell the Utah Jazz said to the Greek freak if. If you do the dunk contest, I'm in. He went dunk. Contest question, Mark. And. Donovan Mitchell says if you do it then I'm going to do it. I did watch the dunk contest. I thought it was. Okay. Now if you give me Zion Williamson in there. Okay. If you they should have brought him in and they should but wasn't NC state playing that day against Duke and NC state. He didn't seem like he was that tired. But if you had him there, if you put the Greek freak in there, I would just have to make the dunk contest because it's a place to make a name for yourself. But if if I said, what would it take to get you guys, you know, the winning prize is this? Hundred thousand and will match one hundred thousand for the charity your choice. Is that enough to get big names to do it because Dennis Smith junior like this big deal for him? Yeah. Mclovin. Next year is in Chicago. I don't think Jordan is going to want to do it. I mean is there any way you get the The blonde? blonde always messed with people said I'm going to do someday. I don't wanna see LeBron in the dunk contest. For the first recourse. I saw a lot of tweets. Lebron looks a lot older than he looks heavier. He looks heavy. I don't want to say fat. He looks heavy. Are you saying you let himself go? He let himself go when he was injured. I I really think LeBron looks he doesn't look like his normal shape. He he he doesn't look great. I wish I could let myself go..

Tim Tebow Told Kyler Murray to Follow His Heart Before 2019 NFL Draft Decision

"Meet time before picking football over baseball. Kyla murray? Got some advice from Tim tebow who interviewed Murray a few months ago for ESPN Cuyler and. Interviewed him a few months ago and have gotten to know him, and he grew up in the gator fan a big deal. He Keiler is. I think he's a really good young, man. And I think there's a really tough decision for him. He loves to sports, and I can really relate to that. And. You know, he he went with something that he's been really good at lately dominating. "Pre-draft selling you wanna make people think that you're going to select Kyla Murray at the fort spot. So if somebody wanna jump up there to get him a move around these starting net, all of a sudden because you the same guy that came into the league saying back into the league saying you going back to the dinosaur ages of football. And that's the way y'all gonna play. Now, did you change your mind on that to do we not remember who he said was one of the best quarterbacks coming into the draft a couple years ago that he had him in the most NFL ready guy in a draft included Patrick Mahomes. Shawn Watson, not remember who. He had was no Peterman. Peter, Peter, Peter Mann the. To now have any grabbed him. And then he and then he cut him because white he can't throw the ball. Let me let me play devil's actors second could he be positioning and saying this because he does want to take everybody wants somebody make an offer for car that he's trying to car out because he wants to take one of the -lutely not he he's not gonna do that. He's not gonna move car for Murray. Just not he's just trying to figure out. He's selling me sell. What the fourth pick you. You know, what I've discovered about Jon Gruden in the in the year that he's been back in adding today to the list, he's a bad actor, he's a bad actor, and then this that because you're right. When I read this I'm like, oh, he's just trying to he's trying to increase the value of that particular pick. He's trying to make Cuyler Murray sound like Baker Mayfield. And drew Brees. And Russell Wilson and all the other shorter quarterbacks that we've seen Schorr quarterbacks can play we've seen it. There's enough guy. But the fact of the matter is being six five is better than being five eleven. There's a reason that most of these guys are six five not all of them. But most because it gives you an advantage so Jon Gruden to. Well, you know, this whole idea about you need big hands. And to be six five. I. Hands. Grip reports do grip what I just need to know what the question was. What was the question that led to this answer? Because perhaps the question was about something else. And he went on a tangent. And this is what the extrapolated from it. So I know we like pollen on him. But I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. Because you don't have to draft a quarterback. We don't know exactly what he was talking about. We don't know what the conversation was this. Magic an interesting tidbit that can on a much larger context. It sounds like the question was what do you think Kyla Murray? I don't know. I I don't don't know know what what the the. question at all. But that's Murray was the subject. Yeah. Yeah. But even when regardless to what if he was a subject of not he's speaking on column, Mary all he's trying to do is like you said at value to the Ford pick now. Kyla Murray certainly can play any NFL. I'm not taking with my first round p. That's just me. I understand he'd through over tall. Offense and lime in college. Now, also understand in the NFL, you cannot predominantly do everything from the gun. This is football. Yeah. Everything is from the gun gun gun gun in the pros. You can't do everything from the gun. You've got to get underneath the center topic centre. You've got to be able to drop back hit your foot back foot in throw the football by the time. You take a five step drought there. Now. Amdahl's doing? Fassi get to. Fast. Let me come on. He's exception. But he's not the exception. They all like that to some degree. Some degree to all their like that there's he may be more superior than others at doing that. But those defense alignment, we talk about the Khalil Mack of the world. "The Kyla Murray thing first of all who's mad it. Kyla Murray is anybody actually mad, and I'll admit every now, and then you're slow. It's a slow day. Or maybe something just pisses you off enough as a talk show host. And you decide you know, what this tweet so stupid, the hell, I even did it. I was doing this tweet pisses me off. And then I felt like people are actually trying to piss me off every day with those tweets that I'd make it a segment, and then like, you know, this is sort of backfiring. But I don't know how anybody would be mad at column if you're as fan fines, we're all selfish. You're mad because you think he might be pretty good. You spend the ninth pick on him and marines of deciding to go and play football. That means you're not getting anything back. If you're the as you get the money back. You get the four point seven million and how about those geniuses out there being like, well, can you just keep the four point seven million? No, actually, no, it doesn't. Oh, that sucks. We knew you might play football. Here's almost five million bucks. And you get to keep it if you bail on us after a year. No that did not happen. So yes, the as we get back to four point seven million, but the whole reason. They said down this contingent of as people baseball, people baseball marketing people to try to figure out like, let's what's your story. Like do you wanna play baseball? Do you wanna play football? What can we do where if you've read in a bunch of people had been all over the place in the beginning? Part of this Murray stories at though, well, there's nothing baseball Ken do would violate their own CBA. Actually, they can violate their own CBS special circumstances here where they can decide to just pay him. Give him majorly contract put him on the forty man roster. And you know, see if there's a way they can come up with some sort of financial number beyond the five million that he's already gotten after his draft. This I to make it worth as well. Because if you look at you know, the Baker money, guaranteed is almost thirty million. I don't think going one. But I think he would go in the first round Todd mcshane's latest mock had him going in the I just think even if there's ten people to go absolutely not. This guy's terrible. Which is what Albert brea row today on dot com. Every look say terrible. But every scout that he had talked to said no way second maybe third. Rounder aro I feel like these kind of guys with us. "I mean that would love to see Kyla Murray play football. We can see what he would do because he has five nine if he's made. Maybe five nine, but dude is electric and in this NFL. It'd be interesting. I just wanted to throw that out there. I know we'll talk about it later. But I do think the NFL has changed to the point where eventually you want you want. Lamar thrown from the pocket. You want him to be better from the pocket. But I think you have more area of leaning toward moving around and running a little more than we have don't do. That is true. Don't. I hear what you guys are saying. But all he has to look at his backup. Now at Baltimore to see that it's not sustainable, and we saw this with RG threes rookie electric, they're built very similar. But he's a better. I mean, he's he's better. Quarterback even more than when RG three came out. Yes. But when RG three got hurt a bunch of times it wasn't as a protected quarterback. It was as a runner I understand. Already already runs better than RG three. And in the fact of sliding and getting out of bounds from that regard. He's already better than RG three. What Trey I think we both agree this level of it's not sustainable. He could involve more of it than most have. And the bottom line is now he's in that area. Where I saw rich Eisen tweet this yesterday. I thought it was interesting for you know, he said is coming up the season for Baker Mayfield. Most people didn't think you should be the number one pick all these things. And now even not starting every game this season. He set the rookie record for touchdown passes. And then Lamar Jackson a lot of people thought he should switch positions or shouldn't be a first rounder. And now, he's the only rookie quarterback left standing in before people try and demean that Tom Brady and Ben Rothlisberger bull hall of fame caliber quarterbacks both guys who came into their careers riding the coattails of great defenses while they were young. So this is kind of the model that we've seen for a lot of quarterbacks that it tends to work out..

"Recovery. We're playing a great football team. Very well coach in all areas of the game, very explosive. It's gonna be a battle. Quicken Loans apply simply understand fully mortgage confidently. We'll continue our NFL conversation. Sam Monson pro football focus lead analyst Sam how you doing? What's going on buddy? I'm doing great excellent. You know, it's funny this week. I heard I don't know if you heard this. But. Greg Williams who to me. Why don't really work in Cleveland locally in the week? And I have no desire for Greg Williams to remain the long-term coach Gregg Williams. I think he's about as old school is old school gets and he referred to some advanced analytics this week. And I almost was brought to tears Sam because well, I think I think that all sports need to have a good balance between old school scouting and new school analytics you'll so many old school football guys are so hesitant look where we are in baseball. Now. Right. The sport is completely run. Everybody has an analytics department in basketball and football is dragging their feet a little bit more in some organizations, but the here an old school coach like Greg Williams referred to some advanced analytics. That was that was wild for me to hear it must have. I don't know if you heard it. But it probably would've made you happy. If you did. Yeah. I think you're right football is behind baseball. And how that kind of stuff is gone, but everybody understands that it can help you how you present it to all of these people know, so head coaches are often the last guy to get on board. But it's because you need to present it to them in in the right away. Now, there's a ton of ways that say the PS database can help is those guys. But if you come to them initially where you know, something they don't wanna hear they're not going to buy. But if you immediately show them something, you know, a fancy pretty grasp the chosen exactly what they've been saying for years, suddenly they're all on board. So I think a lot of teams the league you're just starting to sort of see this time where the analytics guys or people that have been using the stuff within the Bill. Building for years are finally starting to figure out how to present it to coaches added presented to general manager is and you know, the guys bad again in front of the media. And that's when you're starting to see this filter out. I think it's been used a lot within the building for years already. But now we're starting to see those guys use it on a daily basis and get the headline stuff sent to them in a way that they're they're much more comfortable with gesturing at an and actually taking it on board. We're talking with Sam Monson pro football focus lead analysts Sam. Baker Mayfield has had a tremendous season. As a rookie as put up some big old school numbers if you will. But when when you went from a pro football, focus perspective when you guys run the numbers on what he's done. How would how does he great out compared to some other rookie quarterback's of the past? Yeah. I think you do need to go to quarterbacks with a pass because he hadn't shoulders above any other rookie season right now. He's a top ten grade quarterback in the NFL. He's tense overall. Just one physician behind Russell Wilson. So you're already talking about it really really well graded player right off the five. And obviously pro football focus was very high invade your Mayfield coming out were the guy is the winter by for him saying that he was the best prospect in this draft in it really wasn't close to the next guy. I think so far. That's that is being born out. We have seen better performances in the past rookies. I think that twenty twelve season was a pretty incredible year for rookie performances. Obviously it didn't last because RG three in particular had a phenomenal season that year, and then tours and really hasn't been the same player since. But you know, Baker Mayfield is looking as good as we've seen any rookie quarterback. Look probably dating by twenty twelve season. We're seeing some really impressive play from him. And I think his play generally has been better than even the statistics suggest because you had one of the highest rates in the NFL right five and drop rates. And unlike most of the times when a receiver drops the ball, it's an incomplete passes. It's not doing that much damage to your passer rating, or whatever but Baker mayfield's have multiple assets that have been hit his receivers and my hands and ended up as interceptions. So those are taking a sledgehammer to operating over the course of the season. It's ninety three. Point four right now. And this is a season where passing is exploded operating ninety three point four is nice great at the moment. But it's his performance has been way better than that. We're talking with Sam Monson lead analyst pro football, focus Sam, let's talk about another rookie and that saquon Barkley who probably be battling Baker Mayfield for rookie of the year. From an offensive standpoint. There's been other good rookie running back but saquon Barkley make over two thousand total yards this season. How does he compare to Todd Gurley Leonard four nets and some of the other big rookie seasons from running backs? Yeah. I mean saquon Barkley just moved into first edition CFS running back rankings. He's the the number one guy right now through the through part of the season. He's been incredible. He's been everything that everybody who was championing him saying he would be coming out. I think he's been better than we thought. He might be there. The idea that he was a perfect running back prospect that don't think really holds up work holes in his game in particular. This tendency to to be a bit. Reggie Bush in terms of wanting to balance everything outside to look for that clay, but he's gotten a lot better in his first year at not doing that at taking ugly yards when they're there. And that's all there to be had. And it's still maximizing goes explosive plays getting huge games. Those are there. So he has been fantastic. I think again he's been as good as any rookie running back the receipt for a number of years. Really? He's I guess he's played as well. As Alvin Kamara did last year as a rookie on he's done more fulltime base. So he already has you know, two hundred more snaps than Kamara managed all last season playing that same kind of rate is Amari Cooper. Has memorial Cooper's play been much better. Or is just a the players around him made him much better. I think it's a bit of both, you know, playing wide receiver it so difficult to play. Well, if the ball isn't coming in your direction off the ball is coming in your direction in attachable manner. Having you can do about it. There's only so much fancy route running against air. You can do if the ball isn't coming your way. So I think we're seeing Amari Cooper was always a quality route runaround player that would get consistently open. And now we're seeing what happens when you target that guy. He's still a very good player and I play put up big numbers. And obviously, that's that's meaning that his greatest better because he's being given the ball and that talent is being maximized. So you know, I think that that was always there that that talent that play was always inherited his game. Even in Oakland. The raiders just weren't making use of it. We're talking with Sam Monson pro football focus lead analyst. Sam. I know you guys today had an article about projecting Cuyler Murray's pro potential. I'm curious because obviously he's a top ten pick and major league baseball. He's giving compared to Ricky Henderson. He signed a four and a half million dollar bonus. There would have to give it back obviously at a even a better year than Baker Mayfield did this past year in college, which is hard to believe. But obviously, you know, people make a thing about the thing about Baker mayfield's hike, which I thought was over rated. But obviously calamari isn't even close those big as as Baker Mayfield. A what is his potential d do you think he could be a good NFL quarterback? I think he could be, you know, you're right people that the highest the big question Mark because people did make an issue out of Baker Mayfield. Tighter on Baker Mayfield is short for an NFL quarterback. But not, you know, it's not unprecedented. We've seen quarterbacks Baker Mayfield type successful in the past. They're not obviously, not as many as there are as you know, six with three quarterbacks, but those guys have existed and they've been good in the past. I don't I don't know that we've ever seen quarterback that is Kyla Murray's Hite house significant success at the end up, right? You know, he is going to be when we get the official number on him. If it ever gets that far he's going to be significantly shorter than even a guy like Russell Wilson. And you would be in legitimately uncharted territory. When it comes to that. Now, if you're going to do that, you have to be there has to be something else to say, well, okay. That's not going to be a problem because of this and his grading has been incredible. His is great this season at Oklahoma has been basically everything is as as good. As Baker mayfield's grade had been on that was the best we've ever seen from a quarterback, right? The best seasons we've ever seen at college with one of his own. So he has a level of the best play. We've ever seen coming out of college from a college quarterback. And we've been doing this going back to two thousand fourteen but we've seen some pretty good quarterbacks over that's fine. You know, we went back, and we also graded James Winstons freshman seasons. We have got Carson Wentz you got Jared Goff. We've got right. And they got all these guys and Carl Amari stacks up to those guys. Sorry.

"We will dive into those coming up here in fifteen minutes. But we all watched last Saturday night as Oklahoma quarterback. Kyla Murray won the Heisman Trophy, and we'll all watch him in two weeks from tonight when he and Oklahoma face Alabama in Miami in the Orange Bowl for shot to go to the national championship game. We also know that Keiler Murray is in Oakland athletic pick ninth in the last major league draft awarded a four point six something million dollar signing bonus. But now has some NFL teams potentially drooling at the idea of him playing football instead of baseball time to bring in our ESPN major league analyst and insider, I would say Keith law. Joining us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Keith what like there's a lot of different stories than ideas and reports about what this contract with Oakland. May look like how how simple is it? What do we need to know about what's on the line? Here for Cuyler and the as contractually, well, there's very little major league teams can do now when they signed players out of the draft since the last in the current CBA as essentially that that every player who comes out of high school or college or getting essentially the same contract the seen tons. What really varies is the amount of the signing bonus. The only exception we get for some players is if they have an opportunity to play other sports, this applies a little more high school kids, but applies Kailash case that you can typically spread out the bonus payments over multiple years as opposed to it all having to be paid out within a year. So I don't know exactly how much Keiler has received so far, but there is likely some money still do to him after he arrives in spring training in Arizona in about seven or eight weeks or so otherwise, it's pretty straightforward. He signed a contract a minor league contract that will pay him. Close to five million dollars in total bonus money over some short period of time. So basically that he paid back majority that signing bonus he would be free to move onto the National Football League. Well, he would probably hasn't received all of the signing bonus. If he chose to if he chose not to show up for spring training, by the way, all indications are he's showing up for spring giant. And he everything from his camp and everything from the people I've talked to at the as they believe everyone says he's showing up spring training. But if he doesn't then he forgoes some of the money all of the money that he has not yet been paid. What would happen is the as within place him on what we call the restricted list? So he would remain his contract would remain in the as control until some point where they choose to release him or he does show up to play baseball. And how about this? Keith, wait. We know what kind of pro prospect is right now think this game coming up against Alabama's important the show that he can still get it done against Nick Sabin. And that defense would carry momentum into the process. So if he plays great he carries that momentum. They probably becomes the first round draft choice with that said what type of major league baseball player. The you envision you. Here that he can become down the road. Well, if she commits himself to playing baseball, the as think he's a potential store I would before this past draft. I said I thought he could be an above average major league player in everyday center fielder who plays very good defense who has ton evalu- on the basis with his speed, obviously, he's an elite runner and who's got a chance to put the ball in play a lot and make some kind of impact with the bat..

So should be good matchup. Couple of match. I should say tonight and tomorrow and. Ocean-view oceanside oceanside oceanside in the desert. Oceanside in Arizona. Like, they don't even have like Mexico is in the way of them having even a little bit of water touching. Yeah. I guess they're looking to the future. Hashtag climate change. Take that or or are you saying that a certain commander in chief may do something about the annex part of Mexico? No now. Two eight six zero four six if you want to interact on this Friday, by the way, Jose can Canseco. Tweeted at his and then you call them little, buddy. Awesome little buddy, President Trump volunteering to be his chief of staff, and I gotta tell you. I think that that maybe just what that White House needs. I mean think think of the way it runs now the White House runs now with Jose can Saco is the chief of staff, I mean, it would be like the White House on steroids. Unbelievable. They get so much done. Well too late. Get it because Jose could Saco you steroids. Yeah. Did not receive votes crap but air airforce did well, that's good. They should both be receiving very true. But you do have to worry a little bit about Jose Canseco, perhaps telling some White House secrets because there is one major example of how he has. No loyalty to anyone except Jose Canseco. Yeah. I don't know the way the way that. People are dropping out of that race. Maybe Jose could say goes only last man standing. All right. So Broncos play the Browns. We know that we'll talk a little bit more about that as the show goes on. But. I found this report interesting. This was done by Kaelin caller who is on 'em QB. Her latest pieces. Kyla Murray the NFL's expecting you? Caitlyn reports that Oklahoma has submitted Cuyler Murray's name. To the college advisory committee few do not know what that is. That is a panel of personnel evaluators from NFL teams. Their job is to take the names that are given to them. They give like a mini scouting report. And. And I believe goes far to say, this is kind of the range that you if you were to enter the NFL draft where you might be drafted. So Oklahoma has submitted Cuyler Murray's name to that committee. Which you say, well, maybe just and you're right. It doesn't mean unequivocally. Kyla Murray is going to the NFL. But as Kaelin's crack reporting shows. T- colleges don't really waste time to submit names of guys who aren't going to get drafted or aren't going into the NFL draft. So at least. This says. Tyler Moore is thinking about it. Because this is not Lincoln Riley, just just sending it for you know, what and grins. It's. He's getting it from Cuyler Murray. This could be a way to convince him like look how high you're going to go here so much you're gonna make because of the boom who's trying to do the convincing. I think it's Cuyler trying to convince himself maybe. Maybe maybe he doesn't want to be like, Charlie ward. And wait till the draft and go, oh, I wasn't drafted high enough. I'm going to play another sport. Maybe he's going to look and say, how am I going? And then he can sit there making educated decision on whether or not he's just play baseball. One NFL scout told caller, quote, there's been a lot of smoke the past few weeks when it comes to Murray making the jump to the NFL. Now, he has tried to deflect as best. He can his look he's a young man, and he signed a multi million dollar signing bonus with the Oakland A's. Yeah. So as long as his parents raised him correctly, and I heard them on the Heisman ceremony seems like he has great. Parents. He would know to be respectful of the ace and be respectful to of his agent Scott Boras who I know works for him, technically. But still Scott Boris is a really big deal. And if you're a twenty euro kid, who's Scott bores has decided to take you on as a client. You also show bear respect towards him and say, you know, I'm not looking at it. And of course, Scott Boris has all kind of skin in the game. Because Scott Boris is not an NFL agent. He is a major league baseball agent. If Kyla Murray decided to go, the NFL, Scott Boris is services are no longer needed. So of course, Scott bores is going to pound the table and tell anyone within earshot that Keiler Murray signed a baseball contract, and he is one thousand percent committed to play. Baseball. And I'm not sitting here saying that Kylie Marie doesn't feel that way. But I have hypothesized this for a few weeks now. I get that Keiler Murray made a decision. But Cuyler Murray was not a Heisman candidate, not not at least not a serious one. He was on the watchlist. But there are guys in front of him. You know, did he have high hopes for Oklahoma? Sure. Did he expect them to be in the college football playoff? I don't know. And now he's won the Heisman. He has a chance to beat. The thirty third NFL team the Alabama crimson tide. And potentially play for a national championship the more exposure and the longer Cuyler Murray's football season lasts, the more that I think it's going to be harder for him to turn away the opportunity to play in the NFL. Would you rather be playing immediately? Most likely, right? I mean the last Oklahoma quarterback play pretty quick. You have a chance to play almost immediately. You are getting an NFL paycheck and you're riding riding on charter flights. And you are the face of a franchise. Or at least the hope of a franchise. So you could take all that. Or you could ride the bus from Modesto to Sacramento for three years playing in the Oakland A's minor league system and maybe in three or four years you are in the major leagues. So I think the decision is especially the way because it seems like a very. What the kids would say woke point of view, right? Why would I put myself through the NFL when I can go and play baseball. Because a lot of young men don't have that choice. They're good at football. And that is it in. That's where they go Cuyler Murray has choices. So he decides I don't want my brains beaten. But he also looks at the NFL and says, wait a minute. Except for the hit on Philip rivers last night. They flag anytime a quarterback is hit above below the waist. So. It's a more quarterback friendly and a safer league four quarterbacks than it was even a couple years ago. So I think I think that Keiler Murray's got a really difficult choice. I think if he beats Alabama he's going the NFL because he will automatically be the number one pick right now, Justin Herber might still go above him. To localize this story a little bit. How if Cuyler Murray comes out how does that impact the draft? Todd mcshay had Justin Herbert going seven overall the number one quarterback in this class going number seven now, this is no trades. But this is Jacksonville is the first QB needed needy team up on the board, or at least the team first team that he thinks we'll take a quarterback at seven. Then Haskins was at ten to the giants. Now, the Broncos are at seventeen. But if you look at the record they're only a game away from being right in that area. Ten nine eight. And with after the win last night for the chargers. Certainly you believe the New Year's Eve game has implications for the chargers, which is bad news for the Broncos because the chargers will need to win that game to potentially win the AFC west. Tomorrow. I have said that I'm taking the Browns. And then the game in between that is a road game against the division rival that has nothing better to do than to beat. You. So if Tyler Murray comes out all of a sudden for those of you who are like we have to go with the NFL draft. And those of you who are saying that are smart because that's what you do. In today's NFL you going get your quarterback Texans. Chiefs Rams eagles a little bit. Obviously. Some of the shine is off a Carson Wentz. But look at the big time quarterbacks in the NFL the young quarterbacks all were went out and got teens gave up multiple picks to move up to get their guy. And now the Rams the chiefs the Texans. These teams are reaping the rewards. That's how you do it. That's how you do it in today's NFL franchise quarterbacks don't become available. So now, if you believe in Kyla Murray, you believe in Herbert, maybe you believe in an Haskins. I love Herbert. I've told you that before I like Cuyler Murray lot too. Haskins man, the pedigree at Ohio State isn't great for quarterback. So I have to see more of Haskins to make a decision. But if all three are considered potential franchise QB's, and all of a sudden, the Broncos are sitting twelve eleven ten nine all of a sudden Cuyler Murray inserting himself into the NFL draft. Gives the Broncos more hope. That one will be available when they pick or they can move up to get a guy without giving up too terribly much of their future assets. All things being equal regardless of draft position. If you are a Broncos fan do you like the idea of Cuyler Murray as your franchise QB, two eight six zero zero four six we'll take your thoughts on that. Coming up next. The CC Tigers are taking on ranked Arizona state whether they need to do to come away with the points. This weekend will ask Ken Landau voice of the Tigers. "Someone you probably won't see in the Super Bowl Oklahoma quarterback Kyla Murray. So he is in the Heisman conversation. I mean, obviously to is far and away the Heisman favorite, but you know, calamari being New York he'll have a suit on and he'll be considered. And he is a pro level quarterback. Like he could go in the draft and be a professional quarterback in the NFL. But here's what he had to say about that decision. He also played other sports. I like, but as far as. That's the plan. He was drafted by the as we got a four point six million dollar signing bonus. So Jalen, rose baseball or football.
