"It wasn't just the twenty twenty. June eighteenth picnic that started off kvant ward so august. There was a protest in front of city hall and it culminated into a march down here to the beach. We had the support of black lives matter the The local chapter and then also the international chapter and We burn sage. We be through some flowers in the ocean to pay pay. Amish try ancestors in to pay respect for the dead and the and the lie. The people who were killed by by the hands of police So it was a very cultural experience and event and it went off without a hitch. I have to say the last year has been very eye opening for me. And i've seen a lot more of the community that i didn't know existed. So that's kind of been very interesting for me personally. Lispier was the community editor for a local news. Outlet she has lived in manhattan beach since nineteen ninety five. I was never against bruce's beach. It just felt like when you first heard about it felt like an assault for me. Personally i started writing about it in a diary you know but like it felt like an assault. Because here you are. You're live someplace you think of it in a certain way and all of a sudden people are telling you know you're racist or there's this bruce's beach thing in your history. Well it just came hard at you for lispier. Learning more about what happened at bruce's beach was a turning point. You know i can speak for me personally as a white person growing up in the south bay i learned a lot just from watching kevon and the steps forward you know and as you learn more of the history and more of the story you can relate to it as a person. The racial reckoning hit different for coban ward the public protests she led field an online harassment campaign of hate against her. Someone impersonated me Started posting things as that they were me it for the lead people to believe i was of a certain mindset in that i was a threat it got so bad kvant felt she needed to protect herself actually purchased a gun. Because i felt like i was in danger. I didn't know what these people are capable of doing. In the wake of these events the city of manhattan beach debated whether to issue an apology. To the bruce family. Many in the community urged their elected officials to do so but those opposed came out in force. You have two minutes for your public comment. This was a hundred years ago. I pray my lineage. Doesn't have to apologize for my wrongdoings today because there are plenty. I do not see racism in this town. I have multiple neighbors. That are all people of color and they are very very far more successful than me. Our town has much bigger priorities. Right now coercing an apology out of the city today. It's not going to rewrite history. i also find it. Counterproductive and hypocritical at the people. Who demanded an apology and condemn. Who had to be just supposed- races past and present the same people calling other residences racist white supremacists and conservative terrorists. In the end the city council agreed to acknowledge and condemn. What happened at bruce's beach but issuing a formal apology. The city council voted. No it was a gut punch for the people behind the movement for anthony. Bruce takes nothing. Apologize for something that you've done or something that has been done against you. If somebody's family member dies. And you don't know that person you can say. I'm sorry i'm sorry for your loss and that would simply just kinda bring a little east to the situation you know. That's the beginning of that. Forgive that beginning of find reconcile the relationship that that was torn apart and such vicious inviolable way for historian dr alison rose jefferson in the nineteen twenties. They chased the black people out of the city. That's what they did. And so yes. There is a through line because of the fact that the city council doesn't want to really acknowledge the fact that the institution and the citizens chase the people out in terms of you know an apology at this point in time that says a lot about you know the community the city of manhattan beach is now proposing changes to the plaque and agreed to create an art installation to acknowledge the history of bruce's beach as for the actual property the county of los angeles and the state of california have moved forward on transferring. This land to the bruce family the land where kvant ward sits today my hand will continue to choke pin and force it to bleed until i am deceased onto this country. Pays me all. They have stolen from me. And for the black key lloyd scars. They've left on humanity..

Robin Givhan on the US Capitol Siege and Vogues Kamala Harris Cover

"To better understand the gravity of the political moment in washington. Dc and how evoke cover became a flashpoint amidst the us political crisis. I spoke to robin kvant. The pulitzer prize winning writer. Who is the senior critic at large writing about politics race and the arts for the washington post and whose own column on the topic was headlined. Vogue got to familiar too fast. I i asked her about the mood. In washington dc. Right now and how it feels. As an american seeing american democracy under threat i start with just A deep sigh. Because i think that for most people. There's just an element of just. There are no words to really express what we're witnessing and you know it's been for a for a significant part of the country. The last four years have been an exhausting emotional emotionally draining time and You know and then add in a pandemic and than to see this. It's just extraordinarily disheartening. And and shocking. And i would also just say i i think there's also an aspect of Sort of sad inevitability Would have seemed like this was predictable and yet we were incapable of south it. Yeah i agree. Everyone kind of you could see this coming with the rhetoric and that president trump has been Spewing out over the last four years using social media as a kind of bullhorn to broadcast this kind of you know hatred and divisive rhetoric. That's from our perspective. Over here in london and i know people other part in other parts of the world you know. We always look to america as his beacon of democracy and to see you know a country that we admire and look up to so much going through this. It's you know we find it. Refined it heartbreaking and really sad as well but you know that point around inevitability. I couldn't agree with you more Later today you know. it's wednesday were recording this It seems as though president trump will be impeached by the house of representatives. What do you think this will signify in this crisis that america's going through right now this political crisis. I think that's a really good question. I i'm not sure You know. I think we've gotten to a point what in at at which every time there's been a sense of okay this is you know the nature like it has to sort of shift at this point shift where the batter And we've kind of been proven wrong so You know an a president who has been. We'll have been impeached twice as a pretty extraordinary thing. But i think we have really clear evidence from last week that there's a certain percentage of the population who will be undeterred and he will be even more exercise and ultimately a it will it has has starting to cease to be about president trump and he has just bad. A you know the the key. That's unlocked this avalanche of darkness. Really because a lot of the the rhetoric that was being spewed out there at the capitol was related to trump fights. You know there were a list of grievances that people had that really had nothing to do with. He was in the white house I think it's bad you know. They've just sort of been given permission to express their grievances in this really violent way. But i do hope that You know i'm wrong and that The vote will will mean something and will mean something that will shift things for the better. I guess some people's perspective could be that this process that congress is going through over the next few days Will be the end of a very dark chapter in. Us history and we have a new administration Starting on january twentieth that seems poised to kind of address some of the critical issues that have surfaced during the current administration's tenure but others are worried. Maybe like you that. Actually this isn't the end of the chapter. It's just opening up and has highlighted that have seventy four million people voted for donald trump. There's at least a portion of those people represented by the groups that showed up at the capital last week. That have been kind of in a way activated by trump. And you know there's you know ten potentially tens of millions of these people depending on which you know opinion. Polls you believe what do you. What do you think of that. I get is the end of a particular chapter. What the next chapter will look like however I is is the question. And i don't think that You know on on january twenty at twelve a one pm you know the sun is magically going to come out and everything's going to be washed away. I think it's going. We're going to have a lot of really difficult difficult work to do. And i think there's going to be a lot of sort of weeding out of some of these pheno terrible elements in our culture and. I don't think that we can really do that until we sort of. Reckon with our history you know for so much of the the rhetoric that's coming from the people who were you know the mob that writing at the capital so much of it to my mind seems to be kind of rooted in american history Of that deals with race and gender issues And what exactly you know freedom and equality need that have never really that we really never really come to terms with and i don't think that we can really move forward productively until we do come to terms of died and you know a lot of people you know the first thing that They will say when people try to go and examine history on and understand what it means for. The president is bat either. Don't wanna go back there. They don't wanna revisit it. They don't want to have that conversation or they simply want to serve you at through these rose colored lenses and sort of glorify it And ignore the the worst

What have we learned and what will learn about love from the Coronavirus

"Have we learned? And what will we learn about love from this corona virus? It seems that the coronavirus has now begun to show us some incredible lessons both in good about human beings when it comes to love compassion and empathy. The Kvant of Iris we had told has yet to take full effect and yet so many said intake in his so many people have had to have had so many material losses. Already we have. We have seen bravery in those that work in caring for the public. The policemen the nurses the doctors health workers in countless others who have continued to work in other essential services as this horrible virus continues to rage on. We have seen incredible absorb charity from those that only need to care for themselves but yet have extended in resources to all those that needed now in order to live yet we have seen the very opposite others who have made their views very clear and stated that the working class to sacrifice their health than families help him lives in order for economy. Not to falter. We have seen so-called scientists trying to propose ideas infected infecting Africa's with a virus in order to test their so experience scenes. Obviously we're all very scared of something. No-one today's world expected to get to this point out. I obligated should extend to ourselves and our loved ones but the idea and sense of superiority that some fuel that they consent over us the lives of others for money owed to purposely infect others in the name of book carrying a again that sense of of the mini to demise disagree and save the right into the right to live from others. These are less. We have learned about other human beings. Perhaps they are lessons. That have always existed is on how the conference that would have happened in the past could never have been in. Today's will meet us would get these lessons. We have seen those who want to profit from this. Virus has stolen stolen essential supplies from hospitals. We have also seen those who have continuously A carelessly walk around with without taking any kind of precaution in potentially affecting anyone that come in contact with we have seen those wins cysts. Gather for weddings. Events caught his with thawed regard for anyone else other than on their own immediate pleasure but at the end we human beings incredibly resilient in those that know the true meaning of life know that in the end the scales of justice do balance themselves even when it seems forever. Well now remember that although left may bring you many storms love always

"And culture think things gotta get better. This country was built and I. It's a cultural central. Tried to be more just and it's not about in Oh meets about us On the first Olympic. But no. It's always do. We always tried to give the food pictures of what it choose. What is Dale part instead of innovation? Why would they really matters? And is a big part of the big story in in all seven factors but as equity everybody on you give you give equity employs. Everyone mean I mean anybody from company Integrity So they feel part of it and it's about company meetings. Will you emphasize what each one does. But it does anybody else knows what each one on does so everybody sees the picture and and so Kvant atmosphere so far being professional and and executing correctly and Delete which is supposed to being a comfortable just bombed and without being nick at four and friendly and positive There's always a big challenge of trying to somehow fight it negative politics. A natural situation in a way is negative politics. Aw and for people to know us you as the CEO others the way to confront each other so you have to wait for energy or the fighting in the south Keep open communication between people When people come through and and start saying that guy so bad because does that not not you know become part of that to join that but the opposite figurative? Okay got it so one more question with with excellent and then we'll go into fresh off and then from there we'll go onto what you're doing now the white you step down. Seo Did you feel that you want it you time you know. Let me give it to somebody else could do do other things within the company or was being burnt out. What was the? I'll get a lot of people that do that right. I know Dennis Crowley who's on the show from foursquare. He stepped down after a number of years and you know he ended up just focusing on the RND and development and he said it was a great decision in that sense that he could really help to build more products at etc.. Actually the big trigger was accelerator which his viscous Company in Komeda wanted which was a really good decision for me to move to. US With my family. Which I did and my wife was amazing? Came with me and did his anyway but starting with by she wasn't happier and Co was in stock and I felt birds. It's unfilled for me to be the When she's unhappy that I thought that you know some do i? Do you know a good job in the company of the time could find somebody who's is going to know a job that in actually four thoughts multiple do an amazing job and I was pushing the ball for that and ended up and accepting my mom commitment accommodation which is also being good with external trim. That's great here that so you're saying earlier in the show right so connecting the kitchen you. Why did you get into to decide to really make that shift from ethic into something totally? I O T in the kitchen are pretty far from the tech world. Basically failed the not not want to be in by not only at Dick and bench. Not good things about at that. which by the way becoming even worse now without the favor on site to find something new and don't think by the way I dilettante smart way they mentioned I had to deal with a great idea? Started executing it so it's not such a but after being in the industry of supermarkets in was this actually was disappointed initially was supermarkets not guilty After being in that space for many many months really begin to learn that space facing status and then followed looking in all around and singles GonNa which began picking up. I did come up with this concept. which book concept to connect anti into supermarkets? So I've been off from experience markets to compensate you. The did make sense of this initiative initiative you so you know. The MODEL was what for the supermarket. Stuff to pay you for the the the supermarkets factor. That can win win for everybody. President factors it was a big deal because it gives them kitchen presents. I mean if you think about we make decisions about buying groceries. Most of them have been indication. Simple your milk is out Tabei milk so being able to execute decisions the benefit consumers and of course big supermarket Arkansas John Incentive as has become incentivized to get into the kitchen. They won't head depress manufacturers themselves. MM set have been in places into the kitchen start becomes interesting. The plasma factors under this busy had both Pinkus us both the president factors and markets. And so you know the market size. Did you realize how big boys when you started like you. You know when you're thinking about it did you see yourself. Did you know that the manufacturers would come on board or did you realize that you know martin pain to in the kitchen or did it come at when you start. Do you have a different idea. Mind I mean this. This concept physically. Getting the supermarkets to the constant presence in the kitchen was quite news. It was no numbers Saying you know you couldn't understand that they should be kitchen just minute up sense since and by the way pretty soon if the we began doing another little company figured out made sense Supermarket put into the kitchen which has ECO system with Alexa. which they know in America but I Cathedral shortly before in the field with traduced the concept of for example shows. You Know God if my yeah manning. The voice in the agenda does this stick undertook barcode. So just made sense. And that's why US and other companies began offering guy and so you have fresh up when you when you merged with I can. Was it merger aquisition I mean it was. I mean they can be equity pisses. It's emotional yeah. So how many people did you have there at the end we had. I mean when we began basically the peak we are not so many eighty people. Uh but but then when we begin Jonah's income competitor charge you to to secure funding branding because invisibles boom to invest into your competitors especially when Amazon's and then when we took that merger a juror path actually wind good down a little bit.

"I'm over at all right. So Katie is out. Kvant looney is done for the series. They said he reactivated his injury. He's out as well to tomorrow. Maybe we'll see but the raptors had this thing they had it. They had a six point leaves about three minutes ago. They get one more bucket in the last three minutes that game. There were talking about the raptors first ever championship. And whether or not this is the end of the warriors dynasty, they gave them life. They're going back home. The raptors won both games in Oakland earlier in this series. They've they're two zero in the finals on the road. They've outplayed the warriors for the most part throughout this series, my fourth quarter last night. Now a standing Steph and Klay really the only two offense of weapons they have going into these last two games. If we get to the seventh game it you still think they're going to close this thing out. I one back in Oakland and whenever you got clan. Steph understand this coli in lari. Have some interesting things later on down the line. But he missed that shot. So he's going to be up all night for the Knicks four five days. Thinking about that last second shot, but overall Katie went down, but they were already winning without Katie, when clay and Steph is on the floor this to, to, to, to against Katie and stuff on the floor. So when you look at it, you, you have to say they have the experience they been there done. Steve Kerr understands the experience factor said in when the coach called the time that tell you right the near he not necessarily that know what he's doing, but he's not wear. Steve. Curry is from a coaching standpoint. I mean it's a different. It's a different level time out. Call was one of those who called the time, I, I thought go to stay for some reason, call the time because they need to stop the momentum. I didn't think Toronto filthy to start the moment when you've got somebody on the run. Why do you stop the gay just keep going to say that's a mistake that you make? Because you tight. Now, all of a sudden you going back to Oakland, Oakland. They won't be jacked up. This is Toronto's Jack, but that's different jacked up. You know they're used to doing this in Oakland. Okay. Steph, when, when Katie when Steph just start cooking. He did start cooking many Samsung, one of them shots from the what you call the line over on the hash, any from the hash. I was like, what she doing bam. Right. On this point to the TVs in the whereby me. Got Got it. it. Oh, good. That's why.

"I don't know if anybody's feeling good right now. Although, although. Tweet one gets deleted. Week, two says something very different about Kvant loonies injury, which was detailed by our next guest, Dr David Chow at pro football doc on Twitter, what he said. Yeah. Why are we why are we taking an MRI for a broken collarbone? MRI for that. But the injury is a little bit more detail than that. And maybe there is a shred of optimism, doc Chow does is that about right? Tell us what you know. Well, you know. Him. And I can't say for sure, I haven't looked at the MRI. But yeah. When it first came on. I actually happened to be on here, I think, with a radio with crispy started Parker. And they read just tweet to me. Okay. That's interesting. I said. But my immediate question is, why would you need a factor? So there might be more story. There was more to the story, but, you know, they're obviously is a little more to the story. And by the way, nobody including meek ever bass votes. Right. I mean he's the man is the man. Yeah. No, and he didn't he yeah. He didn't need to backtrack. He just said, there's a little bit more information to pass along. So he, he undid the first tweet and rewrote it with some further information. And I saw you say that, you know, not again you haven't diagnosed, you haven't examined him. But, but maybe just maybe if the series goes six or seven games, we could see Kvant again. You know, depending on where the costal injury is cost conjul injury is where the factor is did say it was displaced, which makes it quote the better kind. If there can be such a thing, and, and the other goal, Mark is. I'm trying to provide a little optimism there, your producer who supervised came on. Talking to you at this time of year. And I'm like. Was some good news, but no reality. There are a lot of teams in cities, that want to be be talking to someone about injuries because that means they're in the finals Portland Houston with teams that do it. So you're saying, well, yes. E-. That's how that's how spoiled we are. We're like, oh man. It's our fifth straight year now. For the first time there's injuries. Oh us. Whoa us. Doc. Come on. I know I know. As people would say, don't become patriots guys. You know. No joke. Right. I know nobody. Nobody likes those guys. Okay. So what about what about Klay Thompson wha-? What's, what's your thought? There. Well to balance it out. I mean, I didn't I don't know that I bought the initial TV information, first release of a hamstring tightness. Is it really were hamstring? Tightness, first of all. It was a specific play. Where seems like he came down awkwardly on one leg when he admittedly got bumped and maybe could have been called now. But and you said sick load and then tried to play through maybe it got tighter. But underlying I thought there was a spring into me. Let's see to be pseudo confirmed when post game if you remember Mark win clay greeted his teammates Norway a lot of people focused on he was limping well. Of course he's limping he's got his hamstring ice down in the rap on. Right. And right. You don't walk normally with that. So I didn't make too much of that. But if you looked at the hamstring of in the ice that bag of ice with basically, mostly melted, and that's how they sort of pop out through the scenes of the ace wrap. Right. Because the ice melts in your walking around kind of deal with that means the ice was on for quite a while already which means that typically if you're lately game or at some point in the game and your have. Just tightness often you do a heat pack stretch it to see if the tightness goes away to return, if you just get ice left on it early that means they're likely you're trying to calm down some swelling in indeed after the game coach curse mentioned polled which equals strain. So the question is how bad hopefully mile doesn't mean Klay can't play I totally believe has toughness that he can tough it out. But you can play how well can play is the question Mark well, and then what is the danger? I mean my, my personal experience with hamstring is even if like oh, this feels feels like I can move around. And then you get going at full speed and that things starts barking again what's the danger if he plays through it of some sort of re injury? Well, you know, you may have some experience with him, personally, I have none personally. I'm not athletic enough to pulled my hamstring. And in a no sense, Mike guess your full speed is not clear. Tom. That was a good gas style. Yes, those good. So, you know, that's you know, that's why you have I have this expert opinion serve online is, is, yeah. It's it's not only a potential problem for offense, but it's a problem for defense to, and let's hope Katie can come back but one hundred percent and we cover that in a minute. Can you really afford it on TV and clay less than a hundred percent defensive liabilities? Yeah. It it'd be. I mean that's a question. And, yes, people can say you don't really need your hamstring. You can put them out on the wing. You let him hit three pointers. Well, that's true. But you do have to play defense. Number one, number two, you gotta get him the flow of the game, and you do have to move to get open. Sometimes it's not like a static option. But even if let's say it's your quad, the deals more with a jump shot because it's elevations, and you're right to this allegation. Well, you have to land, and if you know, you're gonna land, and you get a news Centric, loading hamstring. I mean, does it make you subconsciously no matter how good of you eat or do things differently? But dolphin awhile, but, you know, let's say you could hit the ball but I'm following through, you might get the tree batch or something. Very few people can have the conviction hit it the way you're supposed to hit it. Right. And that's the same thing here. If you have that it's got a happy now with that being said, the what is the team? I think very tough. Look at look at stuff. I mean he dislocated his singer against Houston twirling. That's for sure. Never heard about it. Finished the series and played pretty well. But obviously was affecting it late. I mean you can your finger it hurts for for a couple of weeks. He dislocated it and tore, ligaments and really we have to talk about it. So the mentality that team is good clay does have a chance to return and play who knows about the question is really play. And that's gonna be the question Dr David Chow at pro football doc on Twitter. Former team doctor for the San Diego Chargers is with us tonight. Talking about all these were your injuries. And here we are having discussed things for about six or seven minutes already, and we haven't even got through them all. That's how many there are. So what, what is your take on? Kevin durant. The further we go. What can you tell about the language they use we, we remember this being called mild when it happened? But we still haven't seen him and I've, I've seen your comments that even if he comes back is probably not going to be his full self so based on everything you've heard since then what's your take on, on Kevin Durant chances of playing when and and you know what? What version of himself? Well. Story we demean in, in Steve kurban pretty honest about injuries. I mean every team has a little bit where they're trying to play their hand, but. The reports are Katie has a practice that you practice before you playing a game. You got to test it out a little bit to see what you can do. And I think there was a comment it's possible. You might play after just one pack is. Okay. But let's see in practice I before he returns to play. And then if he can return to play, you know, your calf muscle, it's gonna affect your exceleron. You're jumping, you know will affect your elevation their jump shot. I mean, if you try and you're one inch less vertical leap that changes everything. Right. So who knows how effective each indeed and we've mentioned playing defense, but I do know this, if you can't come back, it's possible that he can. He's not going to be a hundred percent. And unlike the pre injury warriors where the ball went through TD the ball's gonna need to stay going through Steph. That's not all bad. But I think Durant would be more of a wing players, so to speak and. That's not a bad formula for success, there certainly is some worrying that lip to me, a little bit of a liberal hits when he was in the tunnel. Eric reading the his teammates. Yeah. And kudos to him for for going with the team and no. It wasn't done to go, he could rehab on the road. It's fine. It's not like he's flying in the middle on south west. So. Toronto, and it didn't hurt his rehab, any before that question gets asked, and then but he didn't have a little bit. But you know that can be explained that you sitting in back watching not warmed up, and then he gets up and easel little stiff, that's so it's not the end of the world, but certainly something to watch dark, how many shows you've been on today? There have been a handful. Let me tie that market. If if it were if it weren't you would've probably polite lease. Oh, we lost you there for a second. All I heard was if it weren't if it weren't you. I didn't hang up. Weren't you weren't you a eight thirty interview during family time I probably would have said, no? Well, I appreciate the heck out of that. And I'm now going to return you to your family, and I thank you kindly, so much doc. Noca- all right there, he goes, doctor, David Chow joining us on a night where he's probably been talking all day because, you know, it's just like the most iconic basketball team of all time losing half of their stars. That's all so. Yeah, I think his phone probably rang a couple of times today. Okay. Those of you patiently waiting you are up next at eight. Oh, eight Kamiar, and I also just saw this. And this is courtesy of one of our texters this is juicy. This is warriors related. And it is juicy admittedly in a very twenty nineteen sort of speculative way. But juic- nonetheless. And that's next on these sports later. Found.

"Go. Kevin Durant comes back. Obviously they're gonna win. But if he's still out and those other guys are some either don't play or less than I think Toronto can win that way. Clay Cain down. The Hammy looks like is more than just a tweak. It looks as if he was actually entered. I know they're saying the right things right now. But even if he were to go on Wednesday. I'm not quite sure if he mentally is going to go at the same pace because he might still be filling the effects of that. Because that the way he went down, that looks like a pool but but at the end of the game he's in a tunnel when you got a severe injury. You're on the table. He was iced up around. Steal your steal on the table. You're not seven minutes later in the tunnel high five, but what I thought was interesting, too, because when he, he went up, he tried to draw the foul didn't work. He comes down his legs spread. And he tweaks that Hammy. And then he got you could tell he hopped up and he ran back. And then he could tell very quickly started to get worse and worse and worse. It wasn't because sometimes you whether to twist give it hurts. Then you run will be like, okay, I'm all right. This was the this was something that got worse with every step. He took and a couple of nights off, isn't gonna make it any better. Right. And it will be really unfortunate if the championship is complicated or altogether. Derail on trying to draw ridiculous Powell would play. What do you think big is? What do you got going this weekend? I like to cut your Jim over there. You may want to cigars. It was more than a cigars but game three what do you think Vegas is the odds? Say Golden State by five those e Golden State by two Shawn. Golden State by eight well Travis. So you'll here. So that's about a six point sweet. Because grafters were one and a half point favorites seven point. Swing from game to. So just going back to the home arena. Just that's Vic swing an NBA watched the two games. And there's no question which of these two teams has better. There's no question. The question is whether or not the words are going to have enough warm bodies to feel the t-. I mean you look Kvant looney plays a ton of minutes for them. He might not be back. We'll see what happens with Klay. We still don't know about Kevin Durant. And here's the other part while he was really good in game two. Who knows how boogies gonna feel after playing real minutes for the first time in two months, he'll be all right? But yeah, you would think he'll be sore. Maybe he's likes to rest though. He does have some rest. They don't play full day. But still, this is his first extended period of time, and he played important hard minutes, twenty.

Okay, out to the warriors poly for the eight o'clock crowd. They played forty eight minutes of basketball. The words were down five at half down twelve at one point. They didn't score for five minutes stretch in the fourth quarter in the final score. Golden State Warriors one. Oh nine Toronto. Raptors one. Oh, four. There's so much going on here. Obviously, the Klay Thompson hamstring is something we'll be following closely Kevin Kvant loonies contusion on chess unfortunate. Kevin Durant possible return, but the overarching story is Andrea dollar making the three pointer that makes him Andre Dala and the bench play from the likes of Quinn cook making three threes. And the DeMarcus cousins performance, all around eleven points, ten boards, six assists, two blocks. I mean, since DaMarcus think back a year ago, if I told you that the Marcus cousins would be playing for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA finals, you'd be like, whoa, whoa, whoa. This guy, he's remade himself in, in a way where he was kind of a loose cannon in the past. And we talked about this earlier, just the kind of championship culture. The warriors have built that he's a part of it now and I think he's handled himself in a whole new way. He's got a new outlook on life, and I was really. Happy to see him that performance difference from game was for him. Bogey grabbed a bunch of boards to through Andrew out there. The angry AUSSIE, he can tell though that could you see in the end getting a little sure six minutes. But more importantly, Kvant people now von because he'd never caused any fight thing out. There was a guy. He's a great there. "I think a lot of people there were also questioning at times how he could be so quiet that has not been the case in this series. He has been sensation. Title, and they would not be here to Sears would have been long over. If it wasn't for the way Jimmy Butler played offense Lee, particularly with them being Simmons struggling away that they have. So we get to game seven on Sunday for sure and maybe third depending on what happens tonight in Houston. So let's get there can give me the sort of Xs a nose in your mind. No, Kevin Durant tonight. How does that change the game for the rockets in the warriors? Well, look you're gonna have to see the warriors play offensively similar style to what they did before. Durant got there. And I think sometimes we overstate how much Kevin Durant isos and holds the ball and affects their offense of flow. I don't think it's fair. Sometimes I think sometimes he bails them out, honestly. But the warriors have some things they do offensively that you haven't seen as much simply because when he hits Kevin Durant's hands. He's a scorer, and I'm talking about things like Steph curry when he passes and chases the basketball to get it back from the same guy. He passed it to own a gerbil. Handoff. Haven't seen a lot of that the guard split action where here clay? On the same site. He end Claire on the same side of the floor. The enter the ball to the post whether that's dream on green Kvant looney whoever that may be. And then they run that screening action on the same side. One guy dives one guy pops. It's one of the most difficult things in basketball to defend if you don't communicate that switch perfectly one of those two guys is going to get open. That's what they lived on before. Kevin durant? Got there. You don't see as much of it. I think you're gonna see a whole lot of that. In this game. You're gonna see Draymond green handle the ball an awful lot in the middle of the floor with dribble handoffs for both of those guys screening action. Clay and Steph on the baseline running news figure eights when the down screens coming out opposite sides. So it's a lot more player movement. It's a lot more to the best shooters we've ever seen being super active putting pressure the defense to communicate things at not having the luxury of guy that will catch it and be able to back a guy down attorney shoot over them. So it's gonna be fun to watch. And I'm really curious to see if Steph curry Klay Thompson. In the warriors team could can pull this off legs that worriers core curry Thompson, Draymond green. They won before. Kevin Durant arrived. They may be asked to win if he leaves how much do you think is is competitors? That group is going to relish being able to go out here and close out a series without Durant. And maybe remind people remind themselves that this this is a special group here, and they may be asked to do it in the future without him. What would you must've been up here in the hallways lurking because I just had this conversation before I came on in the obviously, you're never happy. If a teammate goes down or gets hurt, but at the same time, absolutely. There's a part of you that as a competitor you have pride and you wanna go out there and show what you're capable of doing. They did it before he got there. They may have to do it after you left as you alluded to and right now in the moment, they're going to have an opportunity to do that one more time. I think they dodged the biggest bullet in game five getting through that moment because the shock of watching. Kevin Durant walk off that floor not just for the team. But in that building no one could breathe because everybody thought that was Kevin Durant securities in the moment, you're worried about that. And now here come to Houston Rockets, they cut it to one two different times. I really thought Golden State was in deep trouble where Houston may, you know, have a chance to go home and close the series out to give them. Credit Steph curry made a couple of big shots. Klay made a big one Draymond green made a big win any kevon looney. They wouldn't be here with three to lead without what combined looney did in that game..

And you see teams aggressively attack the paint you saw Tennessee able to operate its offense with greater ease against Kentucky because retrievers wasn't out on the floor. So if you're in that ballpark of discussion point about playing elite level defense, you can manufacture your offense because the game's going to slow down in the NCAA tournament it's gonna come to a possession game. And you've got to be able to sustain stops to give yourself a chance showing you mentioned Alabama beating Kentucky that was two months ago and not much gone well for Alabama, and they. Almost Tennessee on the road. But last night, they took a a tough loss at home blowing a big lead. And you know, talk radio we've been on all afternoon in the Alabama fans. Really don't know what to make out of it. They like Avery Johnson. But they're concerned your thoughts on that program. I think the program is stable. I think you have to also recognize where you were to where you are you get spoiled a little bit. When you have a talent light, Colin Sexton, come through your program and become a captivating figure. He's recruited extremely well. Cairo. Lewis is one of the players in college basketball. So you're gonna have some highs and you're going to have some lows with inconsistencies from guy that's still be a senior in high school right now instead of being a freshman point guard. I don't know what you were doing at seventeen maybe you already had this show up enrolling when you're Shelvin team. But I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, probably not I I know that I couldn't handle the type of responsibility that has been thrown on him over the course of this season. And look you had some key guys leave Braxton key leaving hurt this team. And so I think that for Alabama fans. Look you have worked that needs to be done next week in Nashville now because you should've taken care of business last night. You did not. And now it's being on eleven maybe you're on that twelve line. That is not where you want to be going in the final week of the regular season weekend of the regular season. And then in the champ we so they've got to take care of business on Saturday. And then you've got to be able to come down to Nashville and you've got to win a game or two and if not it could end up being seventeen out of the SEC going to the NCAA tournament. Instead of eight this year. "Satisfied in the NBA. So I'm satisfied with the wind satisfied with some of the game. Not all of it. We have some pockets where we needed to tighten things up, and hopefully we can do that on this trip. I totally agree with that. I thought they were stretches where they do four things. Right. And then they'd mess up twice. They do three things. Well, and then they'd mess. Something up. It was a game where it was tough to feel like they caught any rhythm to get me separation from the Hornets and the Hornets hung around part of it was that they were. I mean, Cody Zeller have the game of his life last night showing why he was the number four pick a hand a couple of years back thirty seven minutes for him twenty eight points at one point. He was ten of ten from the field. Bullying DeMarcus cousins and the pain. That's the what hanging up. I've got on boogie as he is not I I wonder about what the right pieces at the. Interposition for the warriors. Is it having somebody who's a great passer? Is it just having a rim protector seems to me like they've been at their best. When the offense can flow around the guy who's in the center, he's just out there to set screens and be a big body. Gotta shout. Akhavan looney had an incredible game last night when guy. Another element of Kvant loonies game that has grown exceptionally. I think is when small guys tried to drive on him when the warriors switch, and Jeb was talking about this last night to maybe they switch a little too frequently. Sometimes they Draymond green is a guy who almost never does Draymond will fight through the screen DeMarcus cousins, sometimes I think has trouble fighting through the screen because he gets called for so many fouls that he just feels like maybe I should back off a little bit not body up these dudes so intensely, but I felt like last night, and you notice this a lot with kevon looney when they switch on a small guy or a big man comes to set a screen on looney. And then they switch off. And he's got a guard small guy looney will sometimes he definitely he definitely does not reach. He doesn't leave his feet, and he stays low to the ground which makes it real tough for these smaller guards to get him in the paint when they think they're going to be able to blow by Dave. I think a guy like boogie. He never played that true center position. So he has a lot of that move around Laura, whereas Drey has always been the center Boulter them. That's what he does it have to bang different. Yeah. He now you're asking them to do that. It'd be five wasn't boogie smaller and didn't he grow? Or was that there were my thinking a baby, David. Thank you thinking of Anthony Davis. A different guy Glen big baby. Davis different, dude. You're thinking of Anthony Davis. Who though good knowledge, though, Dave was like a I think they said he was a point guard in high school or he was igloo like six inches between junior and senior year high school, right? So you're never going to have that natural instincts of playing center, especially if you've never really played the center, it doesn't matter if you seven forty and he definitely plays a little further out from the rim. Right. Does Davis bang inside the paint too. But his his shooting was definitely there before DeMarcus cousins was cousins have the little pick and pop, but the the the dropout for the three point Davis had that since college. Yeah. Just never can understand maybe with bogeys. There's something in the back of the head with the injury. Like this. Dave, we're talking a lot of Kentucky. Who man who else? We want to discuss Michael kid grow Chris out of Kentucky number two pick. He was in the game last night, and we can go back to Jack goose givens. If you want back in the seventies, Chris Mills, maybe I don't know. Here we go Mohamadou Tiao or how about Louis Gambhir. I believe he played a Kentucky nearly seventy. You throw out players now in the NBA. And it's like Where'd he go? There's a good shot. Dude. Went to Kentucky. So damn could chassis went to Kentucky just like in football. Well, did he play in the SEC? Yeah. I probably probably he's a Bama or he's our he's LSU or Georgia. That's about it. Now unless he's a quarterback, then he didn't play it, Alabama or Ohio State. Good call Dave Kentucky basketball, by the way, back down to tonight. I still think they're getting hose this the number four team in the country. There's no chance in hell Gonzaga is the best team in the nation. I'll give you Duke it. Number two. I'll give you Kentucky at number three. I'm not giving Gonzaga. I know they beat Duke in the third week of the season or whatever it was big whoop. De doo, Duke, destroyed Kentucky destroyed them, but like twenty five thirty points and Kentucky's a much better team than they were. Then I'm convinced if they played today Kentucky would win that game. Anyway, back to some of this sound Steve Kerr after the game on Steph Curry's off shooting night. He was looking to put on a show. And apparently he said to his teammates, I really need this one. I want this one he didn't get to play in Charlotte last year in his homecoming game his dad on the call, of course on the broadcast. Dell. Curry was in the house. Here's Steve Kerr on Steph. I think it's intriguing cousins because. If he's okay. And he apparently he is health wise at least he has been in practice. What how many affected? Tremendous team that you know swings. The ball is very unselfish. I think he will be affected and he's been a very popular guy around the players. They have been able to succeed with centers like Kvant loony who does not need clocks. It's basically put backs and setting screams and Andrew bogut. Andrew. Del McGinn whose career was revived automobile. So now you taking shots away from some of the best shooters in the game that does affect Steph curry and Klay Thompson. Kevin Durant because now they have to try to work cousins into the lineup and guy. Guy. He's a very good passer. He can shoot threes. He approach because he's basically trying for next year. Which will probably be elsewhere because of the the capsule, but yeah, he's an all star wanna use. Under normal conditions. Not normal circumstances when he's got injured, but sometimes you have too many as the Celtics found out you're gonna have to many star players or guys who will be stars. So I trust Steve Kerr. We'll be able to sit things Steve with us for. Here's a and. We problems personality difficulties with the rest of the production staff on a regular..

"We're capable of that. Okay. Now, you're going to try to blend in DeMarcus. 'cause I love DeMarcus cousins I said on the old show before that draft. I'm taking DeMarcus cousins over John wall. And everybody went crazy. You can't you're out of your mind. I'm not out of my mind. I'd still take him over John wall as much as John wall has impressed me eat figured out how to shoot the ball little bit. He he he because he's not both sim. They both neither one of them's one big. Okay. They have not won big. But but on I'll take seven feet. Of of that kind of talent. Because he can't pass the Basque grind. He knows how to play their style. If he can do it. What he doesn't do yet? He doesn't defend. So can you put him in pick and rolls? Can you get him on skates? Yeah. You probably can't. So it's it won't be the smoothest transition to try to figure out how to play with DaMarcus. So they'll go through another period of up evil. Can we make this work and to your point if it does that they'll just say, okay because Kvant looney last night had his best career high, twelve rebounds? So can they get away with with a looney? Right. Would a bum bum leg bevy better looney. But you got no chance to beat the warriors. If you let them hit threes like, okay? But they don't always came that. But my rebounds about fourteen. Okay. So you had an opportunity. L shock Denver off. There floor fifty one points talking in the league to your point. They're gonna tat cousins. And now you've got two people to attack defensively staff the cousins right to get you wanna try to get him in pick and roll. So that could work against them. But you said it they were motivated last. They were there those blowouts early in the season. I think some of them some of it probably had to do with the Draymond candy mix up. But some of it was just lack of motivation, and they battle with that last year the regulated to games when we know it's all about may and June every night, come playoff time. They're going to be motivated. And that is so especially the Lakers in the first round. That's the. Ve day play that we have to definitely the Lakers need to avoid anybody else. I'm with anybody else. You're not scales here. Not scared. Right. Hey, you his deep is the west is the Lakers with LeBron there. They can play with these other teams because they all knew it. I sought right, right? Right. Show. They like oh bangel miss. And then the ball they missed the shot. And then then the hood, they'll go to stay go grab the rebound. But I mean, come on doing new fifty four percent from three scale. Did you see you made seven of seven in the first quarter that seven foot monster did Kevin? Yeah. The best player on the planet seven. I mean Clinton of salmon. I mean, what are you going to believe staff, Shannon? He was wide open. Just think about it. The other night staff. He hit eleven three of that. He that he was on land. I only hit eight what'd you go do. But we keep seeing these aberration nights. Where clay against the bulls that night? I mean, it's just insane. Like crazy. Okay. Would they don't really have their occurrences? Like, James harden? They don't normally go one for seventeen from point line. They might they might use some clunkers, but they don't do one for seventeen. Yeah. Well, warriors agreed with you. Skip the altitude. No big deal for the no big deal. Winded lex. I didn't see anybody wave. Welcome to cords shoot lay thirty minutes. Joan. Joan. You can spread it out. Good to have you always. So what is next Nick foles is done in Philly? We'll discuss. Well, the eagles season is over. But they have a big decision to make and yesterday. Doug. Peterson said Carson Wentz is the quarterback going forward. But once has been injured the last two years Nick foles can become a free agent after leading the eagles back to the playoffs but their season ended Sunday with an interception of the hands of Sean Jeffrey full said he'd like to be the starter. But bringing him back will cost the eagles twenty million dollars. Shannon should Philly move on from Nick foles. Yes. Why did you has a tape because I don't know how they're going to do it..

"This another offense rebound up to this free. Throw Klay around Yokich. Right. And you could see that coming was crazy. We I mean, no. The thing which obviously Steph Katie is long threes. Oh, I see him. Do it over so many times? It's hard to have quarters like that reasons going down once NBA his first quarter of these is pretty crazy. Yeah. Welcome back Camby art at night warriors got off to that quickstart. Kevon looney set the tone early clay through down a jam in the opening moments of the game. How about this? The warriors had twenty five points in the opening five minutes and twenty seconds of the game tonight. As I mentioned sent a lot of high screens pulling Yokich out of the paint and just spreading out the nuggets, and you know, look guys like Jamal Murray. And we'll Barton's coming back from the injury Yokich has been the best one. It's not the best one of the best centers in the NBA the shirt. Now, you know, he has been the best center in the NBA this year getting it done at both ends of the floor and the warriors really neutralized him tonight. And I got him in a little bit of foul. Trouble. A lot of that was the work Kvant looney was doing I know dream on looks really out of sorts offensively. But the way he was passing tonight and setting the tone defensively his value could never be understated. Even if he's not scoring really doesn't matter. I mean when you don't need dream on scoring when the rest of the guys can kick in collectively you can score over one hundred and forty points. You know, there might be nights down the road where you need a little more offensively from dream on. But boy hard to argue with anything he's doing by the way, four way checking in was at the sharks game tonight. We stray dominated him. Hell, yeah. Baby. We're going to talk to Bret Hedican, don't worry sharks fans out never. Sleep on team -til, but we are going to delve in to a little bit of this. Golden State Warriors post-game sound I mentioned the job Kvant loonies been doing in with boogie cousins return imminent, Akhavan looney staked his claim to make sure that he still gets his requisite fill of minutes. But what luxury for Steve Kerr to have kevon looney? Now that season crafty veteran coming in in the rotation because let's face it, bogey. He's going to be on a minutes restriction early on probably going to be in that starting lineup. But I don't see DeMarcus cousins like playing tire I quarters and third quarters anything like that. It'd probably be maybe four or five minutes spells cousins in the beginning. It'll probably be the first guy subbed out, and guess what know coming in at that point kevon looney he's earned that from Steve Kerr. And just you know, I've mentioned this a few times on the show. But I just think it's worth repeating in really hammering this point home that the thing that I love the most about kevon looney is he knows what he does. Well, but more importantly. Knows what he doesn't do. Well, he doesn't try and do too much out there because let's face it when you're out there with these all star players these all world. Some of the best talent we've seen in the NBA. You could go one or two ways with it. You could get the deer in the headlights. And you could you know, like we've seen guys reluctant to shoot your Makasi kospi's were playing with these superstars is just too much or you can go the other way or guys trying to do too much. So as to elevate their game to the meteoric heights of a curry or a K D, neither one of those are particularly good for business, shall we say. And I think the most important thing about kevon looney is he understands what his role is any plays to a T. Speaking a looney. I think this was their best game of the year start to finish most complete Kvant looney career high in rebounds tonight. Well, he couldn't Kurd. Yeah. I think so.
