"A man. I'm going to give it their all. Thank you greg. a. Jimmy jimmy johnson. Limerick how does jimmy. Jimmy johnson feel about that limit thumbs up. That's the good stuff right there. All right well thank you jimmy to a man. We think that was pretty good. Kurt warner the hall of famer who works for the nfl network and westwood one. He was on the call last night. Of course the super bowl. Mvp a couple of times. Kerr tandel the color commentary. Cowboys packers last night with kevin harlan on westwood. One what did you think was going to happen last night. Kurt not not what i saw. I felt like the The champs we're gonna come out and now dominate 'cause i i felt like the cowboys would be better this year but i expected it to be close to a double digit win. I expected to be not hanging in the balance Like it was and you know credit to the cowboys credits. That credits at the game plan. I mean i think they did a lot of good things bucks. Didn't look as good as i think. We all expected them to look coming back with all the starters. You expected them to pick up where they left off they were. They were a little They they they were all over the place. If you're cowboys fan today how do you feel pretty good. You know moral victories. We always talk about him. Say that that's that's not really a thing in the nfl. Because it's about winning football games. But i just said what. I expected to happen last night and the cowboys took him down to the wire cowboys had opportunities. They made some mistakes. Otherwise may be. They could have been in this game in hand a lot earlier but i think the biggest thing is is that prescott. You're coming back from the injury. We wondered what we were going to get. You just sign up to the big deal. Some people were still wondering is he. A franchise guy can carry this team with his right arm answered all of those questions last night You know. I think what they can be what they want to be that they wanna be at throw first team. Which is what the. Nfl has gone to enact showed him. We can do this. And the defense stepped up and made some plays when they need to still. I don't know if it's a championship defense yet. But if you've got an offense that can play like that. And doc plays like that consistently. They're going to surprise a lot of people and they're going to win lot of football games this year cowboys fan. You're excited today going. We went toe to toe with the champs and probably should've worn that football game. We're feeling pretty good about herself. I more concerned lack of a running game or the lack of pressure on tom brady. I'm gonna probably say pressure You know the lack of running game You know worries me a little bit. You wanna be able to run it. Especially because that's what their identity was the last couple of years but what we saw last night is what a lot of teams are starting to do. Now is that it's running back by committee and a big part of their run. Game is the quick little wide receiver screens bubble screens. That you stroke a guy. It's just that's become the nature of our league So everybody's doing that stuff. So i expect dallas to do a lot more of that. Maybe not the typical handed off to zeke You know run between the tackles my my concern. Is that again when you play. Good teams good. Quarterbacks you have to get consistent pressure and last night it was almost like nonexistent. You know tom brady. We all know how great he is and the offensive line's really really good. But there was just no consistent pressure and in critical situations when you know they have to throw. You've got to have some guys that can do that. And they did not. And that's been kind of theme over the last couple years even with tank lawrence and some of those guys up front that you expect to be able to be more consistent in that area so that to me is. It's probably the biggest concern with tom. Brady athleticism to lose. I think we're waiting to see if his arm strength is still there and as a former quarterback. How would you assess tom. Brady's arm strength yesterday. The last time i mean to me. There's there's there's no way she there and you know it's really. What do you look at. Because i know a lot of people look at arm strength and they say how far can you throw it. Well okay if that's what you're a barometer is. We have a hail mary at the end of the half where he throws it. A good sixty yards launches it up in the air no problem you barely need to throw it more than sixty yards in a game at any point in time but to me when i look at arm's strength i look at the ability to You know throw from eight to be. And i always use the term but soft near the ability to put enough on a ball that it gets there quickly but also the touch to put it where it needs to be and make it a your receivers and we saw that over and over and over again last night with tom brady He can throw it. Go out and you could throw those balls down the field touchdown to be no issues with how far he can throw it but to me to see other stuff is that there's zip on the ball. The ball's getting their win. It needs to get there. So i mean i know we. We continue to talk about it. Then and i'm i'm with you is that he plays the game a certain way and he always has. That isn't just going to fall off the shelf and all of a sudden he can't play with his mind. If you can't play with timing. And i believe he's always going to have enough arm strength to be able to play this game as long as he's got that power behind it and show to me. He looked as good as ever last night and I know we're all amazed by it but I just expected every time now is that he keeps himself in great shape and you see that every time he steps on the field but explained to us that that window that you have and how how quickly that window closes when when you're back they're trying to process all of this and you can see something but you gotta make it happen. Explain that process in your mind. Well i mean the process. The idea is just knowing ahead of time. What you're going to do and you know that is the difference between guys like tom brady. And these young guys that are extremely talented and they have these unbelievable arms. They do all this stuff. Tom brady can process and see things beforehand. No have a really good idea on what he's going to do after the snap and that's the whole game and especially when you get older is that it's about being able to know okay. I know what i'm gonna get here. All i've got do. Is this guy if he turns his shoulders that way. I'm throwing out here. He turns his shoulders this way. I'm throwing it back inside and a guy like tom brady watching him. Process that information in. No you know. We always talk about this with quarterbacks right. you're not gonna show. Tom brady something he hasn't seen before well. That's just a relative term because it all comes down to what you see in that moment. But he's so good at knowing. Who do i look. At what defender do i read on this particular play. And if you can simplify the game and you don't have to go where eleven guys are at all times you need to know one or two guys are at all times and if you know which one or two guys that is on a play it makes the game easier and you can just processing get to the guy that wants you and tom brady again. It's you know the best a lot of different things. But he's the best in the business of being able to see those things and process them so quickly so we can do the right thing with the football. You were twenty eight. I think when you made your first. Nfl start now. Zac wilson's twenty one. What would you have been like. Twenty.

"Only three superbowls four rings ago. I'll give my two cents on that Later on let's go to the phone. Lines of phone lines have been lit since we came on the air gwen in chicago illinois. Let's take wins phone. Call here on the nfl. Kickoff edition of the rich eisen. What's up. hey rich. I i just wanted to say something like dolan. Teruhiko seem like a great person. I only knew her from damaged payoffs. But i just wanted to send that to you and your crew up there at the nfl network to change moves completely. Go forward i Think that So three years ago pets mahomes as the second year quarterback ahead of the great year and he was the mvp and then it was lamar jackson directly. Mvp that we had a year off with their rogers. 'cause he was amazing. But what about justin herbert. This year i think and bp season what do you think brockman look a place where Moe green does not have a placker assigned post or a name and see. What just herbert's wolf right. Now time. i loved for most valuable player ambon. Well that'd be great for our fantasy team. Because we chose herbert and keenan allen and if he's gonna win if he's gonna win. Mvp that's the look just an average sixteen to one deal for justin. Herbert win the mvp. Obviously you know he's gonna have to have a season similar to the ones that you mentioned is the second year quarterbacks who have done it so there's there is precedence in good point. Thanks call appreciate it. But they're going to have to win twelve games out seventeen they're gonna they're gonna be twelve and five team in evolve and fight a minimum minimum. Just light it up. And then i have the same schedule like we're talking about like when touchdowns we're talking about five thousand yards we're talking about you know an all time. They can do it though as healthy. Who's on the injury. Report didn't practice yesterday. It's a big f already doing a lot of heavy lifting right there Let's go to jeff in detroit. What's up jeff. Let's get your two cents here on this busy thursday. What's up jeff. What's going on the ball. You started the show like rich eisen insurance coming out the gate fire. Almost glad i'm telling you that was a beautiful breakdown of the entire. Nfl landscape my question to you is this and then i have a barbershop. Question for my My question to you is. Is there any other time of year. That excites you like the beginning of the nfl season. Because every time i hear you it sounds like you're opening up christmas credit. You really have it in your voice and you know what's going on. Secondly a lot of people are talking about the new orleans. And i believe that you said something that had me thinking okay. New orleans is is one of those teams. That could possibly be the. And i'm calling it right now. I believe that the new orleans thanks with janus winston under the new office of production in the way that the coach is going Sean payton will be playing in the nfc championship alone. Okay wow is that you get that at the barbershop. So you said yeah. Actually we were having a discussion on. Who will do better between That prescott and dallas cowboys versus versus the saints and i. I'm a believer that they will ended up going way. I i believe that. The jeff say center best barbershop blitz Let's chat Tomorrow let's just throw that up on a pole. Who has a better year cowboys. Come on you know that's gonna get the barbershops gonna get buzzed on that one or at least his approach map but gopher overnight. Let's jeff's barbershop questioned day. Let's do it. Oh betty i. I'm just so fired up for tonight. The kickoff always gets me you know. I can't wait so also it's the beginning of fantasy football right now. Our celebrity fantasy league team does not have a name. It's the is in football team. We're the goes. We always come up with phrases throughout the year. That i'll say something you'll say not one of us will say something. You scribble down. The names writes some of the some of the phrases that could be and then we call. Paul rudd yeah. Who is a diehard fantasy guy and has great names for his fantasy teams to choose one right right well. What's going to happen when we come back. From break noah from london. He's taking a break from shooting ant man to do this we call an audible and omaha paul rods gonna call in and about five minutes time. Let's go to help us name our team name and i can't wait to hear what his fantasy team name is. One year was named after judi dench but was just dench exclamation point. Don't forget the government that right And paul ryan. He's next. Zeke elliott your calls. Our too coming up. What was another one. It was a 'cause he was like a smell of something or what was it. Oh i forget what it was because he likes heat now. Oh my god because it was about numbers like a brunch place nondescript like things that would be a club in new york. But we've got we've got one here that he kinda would like we. Haven't i mean we inherited down to eight so we have a few that are pretty. I like i like all these to be honest. Back-nine flacco is my. I would be okay with any of these. I think plum snugglers is what we're going to have. Yeah that's that's right up intently. Lovemaking come from. I think he's going to like explain that to your kid. I don't know that'd be tough ever watched cinemax at twelve thirty in the morning. Yes sir i have knew..

"What they've got an aaron rodgers. I said those words into a microphone and just basically turn to jordan. Love and say you're on jimmy g. Plan rogers. you're on brady planned stick around. Could that be possible. Every single game every single play call every single audible every single out. We'll be tinged with that story line. What will rogers do eventually being informed with what he's doing at the moment. Meanwhile who's got the best chance to dethrone them in the nfc north. It's gotta be the vikings would think maybe not it's year. Eight for mike zimmer year. Four kirk cousins. Who's twenty five twenty one and one in the three years prior he makes money like he's garrett cole and a guaranteed contract can he build the plexiglas walls enough to stay on the field for two of the most talented young players in the league at their positions. Dalvin cook running back. Justin jefferson it wide. Receiver defensively mike. Zimmer that's his bailiwick matriculate the ball down the field. Stop the other team. Don't turn it over. Stay healthy. The vikings have a shop the bears. When are they going to start justin fields. That's what else do you need to know. When are they going to start justin fields. Shall we talk about the defense. Yeah let's talk about the offense. They got montgomery and running back. Who had a terrific season last year. Eileen the over under on alan robinson on following all of the bear social accounts. And let's talk about. It is week five. That's week five. Maybe they start justin fields before all that because.

"Always know that the ravens will come with a very hefty run game and a certain zeal on defense. And coming at you and hitting you in the mouth but do they have the passing game. Do they have the passing game to actually put more points on the board when you have to. When they don't have the lead have answered those questions. We will see on that front. Then you've got a third year head coach in cincinnati in. Zack taylor on the hot seat. I guess because one of the bengals gonna do with. Joe borough coming back. And what have they done with. Zach taylor has. He had the opportunity to do anything in cincinnati. This is a big year for zack. Taylor joe borough coming back in march. That was the decision they made in the first round of the draft. We'll keep an eye on what the bengals look like this year. And then there is an eighteenth year quarterback in pittsburgh. Pa entering his eighteenth year in the national football league big ben rothlisberger taking less money to stay or being forced to take less money to keep playing in the nfl. Najji harris will be the running back. There he is a bell cow. He can also catch out of the backfield. He's bigger than levy on bell and does not have all of. I guess one would say the baggage that levy on did bring when he was on the field in pittsburgh. They've got the same receiving core common back. Devon bush returns. Tj what we assume. We'll get paid and be happy. Joe haden patrolling the defense. Can mike tomlin get the steelers back in the playoffs. After a disastrous end to their playoff season last year and defend the crown in the afc south the tennessee titans in my grumbles.

"So. How many white now. How many packages are already out there. That have ten bucks all none of them. None of yet. Yeah no packages have got ten so now got eight in order for you to have an equal amount of hot dogs and buns you have to buy four packs of hot dogs right and five bags of buns to get an even forty for each right the math right on that. Yes you did. That's the only way that they can even out. Otherwise you have too many of one. Yeah and it's a waste of bunce so sign the petition. I hope hines makes progress against big bun remember per purple ketchup. Or no no i do. I need hand green kept on. Oh yeah it tastes. They said it tastes executives Weird they just died. Different colors ireland. You're a big direct. tv person. Right i am not like the last one hold non. You hear that apple. Tv is now negotiating for sunday ticket. Why get apple. Tv too right so you would get sunday ticket through apple tv if all goes through and then i'm not sure why anybody has got direct tv anymore because everybody stuck with it. Because of the sunday ticket if they lose the sunday ticket well. I also like it. But i but but this is starting to go away. I also like it. Because i've always been able to get east coast feeds reich. I get but i don't watch network tv anymore. Do you watch do you bill any or record. Any abc nbc cbs. Fox shows. that's a good question In the size of the sunday morning political sunday morning news shows. I always do meet the press and face the nation and This week i always. Dvr those so. My brother-in-law lisa's brother lives in idaho. Has no he doesn't have cable or directtv. He basically just gets everything on off of apps lindsey. That's what you do right. Yep working out just fine for me. I'm starting to think that you and i are heading for that world. Oh oh lindsay. How do you watch sports like how do you watch. Nfl football on cbs or fox. So there's the cbs so. I think that i kind of have legible back. Doorway i used my mom's logging for her cable provider. You pull a bergman well. My mom pays for the cable. But she doesn't watch it. But i do. So someone's painful. That's what we have to figure out what we somebody's. Brother-in-law has figured it out. I used to have during football season up until this year. When i figured out that half of my mom's cable logging. I did have sling. Tv and that would allow me to watch the games. I should say down the one show and this is because a friend of mine is probably listening right now. The one show that i always. Dvr is chicago pd. I love that show. It is absolutely fantastic. It's on nbc. Never watched it. Nope all right jason gay there you have it. I gave you and i used to go to the same nutritionist. Is that right. Yeah wow all right coming up next. We have got game of games in his my game today. Plus there is a lie sometime during the show. Today i've got a lie of the day. I'm not absolutely convinced. I've got it and by the way there many possibilities but i i can't imagine i'm going to miss it this okay. Good that is coming up next for you to game. Games mason. Ireland seven ten. Espn all right here. We go for the month of july so far. Ireland is one three times. Lindsay is one once whore. Hey won the game yesterday. The spelling bee. And i have yet to scratch. It is my game which means that. I will continue to be in the scoreless. Was that your first win. In the month yesterday was it was. Yeah yeah he's been on a roll though in these games So this is simple game over under. I'll give you a question. You tell me if the answer is higher or lower number one how. How much money. Have sam jackson movies made at the box office. Is it over or under. Four billion dollars ireland. It's over over. Lindsay over over with the crowd over four point three five billion dollars. His movies are worth all. These are relatively close. So you guys all get the point there number two maury wills holds the dodgers all time record for career stolen bases career stolen bases. Is it over or under. Five hundred lindsey under lindsay says under hora. I'll say over over and ireland. Five hundred gonna say over the correct answer. Lindsay is the the point is under. He stole four hundred ninety career basis. All right number three. How many episodes of breaking bad weather is it over. Or under seventy episodes where they're more or less than seventy episodes of breaking bad or. Hey over says over ireland. I think under under and lindsey. It's only on five seasons. I'm gonna go under under the correct answer. Sixty two episodes breaking bad hat. I think there were six seasons right. I think they're five. There were no. There's time because i recently watched it. Yeah sixty two episodes in those five seasons all right lindsay three ireland to or hey one here is number four. How many twitter followers for justin bieber over or under one hundred million ireland. I'm going over going over. Lindsay under under jorges over over is the correct answer. Yeah one hundred. Thirteen million twitter followers. He has number two. I think only to it. I think it is katy perry. Yeah all right. So it's Ireland three lindsey three. Hey to here is number five in his one year with the lakers develop mcgee set the all time record for best franchise field goal percentage in a season best franchise field goal percentage in a season. Was it over or under sixty two percent lindsay. I'm ninety. I guess i'll go over going over under under under ireland. I'm going over. It is over sixty two point eight percent. He shot from the field last year. So it is now ireland four lindsay for hey to let go lindy number six. How tall is mount everest. Is it over or under twenty nine.

"Doesn't get enough credit even though we had those great players other coaches had this great players and couldn't win right. I think phil is a much better and his record shows it. Nba coach gregg popovich. Much better and yet. I think if you ask most media types because pop is pop. They would vote for pineville was aloof and he didn't always talk to. Everybody and i think they would side with phil. But i think if you if you judge them by their record and that i think they went head. They compete against each other in their prime and they met in five series when they were going head to head each other when when pop head dunkin and ginobili and parker and shack had our fill had kobe and check and then kobe and powell phil was four. And one head to head in playoff series against pop. So that's interesting question. What you originally said about phil. Greatest professional sports head coach or manager of all time. Yeah the the people that would be. John wooden would be the other guy that you would argue. I would put bill belichick there. Even though a six titles randomness to the nfl that is impossible to duplicate. Nobody has done anything close in. I don't even think there's been a super bowl. Repeat other than new england in years and years. I mean you'd have to go back to the cowboys in the nineties. Yeah i mean he. What he has done is an i. You know the guy. I hate the patriots. And all that stuff but i mean it's hard to deny what he was able to do there now there again. You've got the question will. How much was was bill belichick. And how much was tom. Brady and tom brady leaves and they go in a world championship. There's that there's that weird. Divide but i would put bella check as the best professional coach of all time by the way. If you're going to come out of youth red auerbach let me do a little preemptive thing you know read won ten titles in eleven years but filled won eleven titles and he did it with two different teams and read. Did it at a time where you could kind of control. The players you know read was great as an executive. Maybe the the only thing that really disappoints me about fills career is that he has no coaching tree. Yeah when he went the kind of system went with them. You could argue steve. Kerr is part of his coaching tree. Or yeah you can make that case but but other than that you know the guys his assistance that you think would have gone onto hugely successful careers for whatever reason haven't and pops pops trees pretty good. Listen fifteen minutes. We've got game a game games. It is my game today. Which means i cannot win and i'll be gone all next week so i will be buried by the time i get back by the way i with jorges win last month. You're the only guy in the show who's never won a month. I think that's correct. Like ramona and michael in those. I should start taking this seriously. I i really should starting to get embarrassing coming up. Next hines hines is going to change the way we hotdogs forever. Have you heard of this story. No i will explain it coming up for you. Next mason. Ireland seven ten. Espn there were a lot of really cool. People there last night at the morale is went up to them all and made sure to specifically ask them. What are you an instagram. Well here's the stupid thing about it. So i'm standing there with morales. What are they going to say. Other than my favorite show is mason and ireland point. of course it is all right so John you ever notice hotdogs and buns don't match. Have you ever noticed this well especially if you get like the long dodger dog size. Here's here's what i'm talking about. Hot dogs come in packages of ten k. packages twelve rite aid packages of eight. Who they'll what gene is. You always need to buy two bags of buns to be able to cover ten hotdogs then. You're stuck with six hotdogs six months that you don't frigging care about. That's an outrage. Now that i you explain it that way do you want to know why. Actually yeah okay. So when they first started making hot dogs they. They were named by their weight. So i guess they said the ones that were in. The grocery store are about ten to the pound so one dog usually weighs about one point. Six ounces. so ten became the magic number to get a pound of hot dogs. So that's why they're sold in tents and then the buns are sold in packs of eight because a traditional bun bread pan comes with eight slots in it So that's why we can certainly modernize this process now through amazing technology. And i think it's time for big bun to get serious about this one. Big oil this is big bun okay. Big tax big bun big bun starts to and and hines has put out. They make hotdogs. Heinz ketchup has put out a a huge poll. A whole huge What do you call it a huge pole. Yeah yes it's a poll it's a poll and people are signing petitions trying to get big bun to make the number of buns in the package matched the number of hot dogs in the package. Does that not make sense. I'm not sure so. How many white now. How many packages are already out there. That have ten bucks all none of them. None.

"How did you get involved with anchorman. To begin with just i audition and then i had a screen test where it and will and i had such a good time and you know it was. The first time i had was asked to improv in an audition and i was terrified. He's just threw it out. You just just say whatever you want to say you guys. Now i was like oh my god. I'd never done that before you. I was on married with children. It was like you know you stick to the script. Do not you know. Go off of what they have written for. Most television shows really bizarre thing. And i think what happened was i got into a group with it. And that's why. I think i ended up getting the job. How does that can play his say for work while you got in the groove because some of the things that they say from the film or not what i said in the audition was as i can't repeat here which means there's no. It was something that i just throw in. I don't even know. What i i know what i said but i can't say but i just i just heard like adam mckay like cracking up and will started to crack up. There's actual footage of it of what i said on the audition tape okay and i think that was what got got the job now. Did you watch any specific local. News anchors for your work i did. There was a documentary. That was all which is what sparked the idea of anchorman for will and for atom which was sort of this this time when it was very misogynistic and there was no females in in that that arena and so i watched that which was really fascinating and i studied just some of the first female anchors during that time during the seventies and and their their voices were different and serious serious research. I like red. Jessica savage book. I you know. I was reality barbara walters and i know it doesn't appear that i did research when he watched the movie. But i'm telling you right now. I had to find for me. I needed to have that information to see what kind of struggles. It was like for a woman at that time. John because i'm into that business. Read those books but was part of barbara walters memoirs but. She walked into an office and her colleagues. Were singing acapella afternoon. Delight came in handy for you know that that is more about like just trying to find who veronica was you know veronica and that's what sort of inspired her having three piece suits because i thought even though it was a skirt she was wearing three piece suits in this the whole time because she's dealing in a man's world and i thought for her she has to appear to be incredibly.

"Not that i'm a huge nba fan but You know watching the finals and as you said bridges and eight and coming into his own where i remember a couple years ago people going. Oh man he's a boston. And why did they pick him where they did. And now he's settled in with that leadership of chris so it was just it's fun to see and it's reminiscent a little bit of of our run and i think a lot of championship teams. You have those different pieces and as you mentioned this team has the pieces a lotta great role players playing their part with a couple of great leaders and and great players spearheading this thing and it's just it's been fun fun to watch the way they carry themselves in humility by which they play and it just it's fun and i really hope that they can finish this thing off and it's an excellent analogy there. Kurt where you're you were. The the older guy coming in in arizona and leading championship. Ron and chris paul doing the same thing here in you being An excellent basketball player in your own mind. Do you equate your game with chris. Pas as well. Kurt like you say that in my own mind. Yeah i like to think i'm a good basketball player and other people's minds to but you're right in my mind No no nothing like chris paul. When i played back when i played football i pass the ball a lot. Okay i play basketball. I shoot the ball a lot okay. I'm more like the booker Y you know. Pick up basketball games at the house. So unfortunately i can't i can't say i deliver and i'm dropping dimes from that standpoint. Completely different from. Chris fall when i played well. And plus you broke your face. Playing basketball like devon booker right. That's another i did that. I feel like if you remember well in the middle of the nfl season a couple of years. I did break my job plane. So you're more booker. That's a good point. You're more book you booker. And paul i play with my face. Kurt warner here on the rich eisen show. i guess what. what do you think. 'cause i was watching larry call the action on the match d. Do you think he's done. I want you to speak for him. Nobody does but what do you think. Do you glean anything from those conversations at all. You know i mean. We don't talk a lot about that. We have talked about it over the years. And i always got the sense that You know he was one season away that you know. He could've retired at any point in time as long as he felt like he could contributes to a team as long as he felt like the team had a chance to be successful And you know. He'd liked his role on the team that as long as he was healthy. He keeps coming back now. I really thought this was going to be it for him But i think the longer this thing plays out the more. I kind of think to myself. I think he might come back. You know. i'm i'm really surprised. We haven't heard anything at this point with training camps a month away or whatever and to me it just kind of lends itself to to him coming back but the one thing i will say about about fits is. He's never wanted to make anything about him. And so i wouldn't be surprised you know as they get right to training camp and there's buzz around the league of all this other stuff that maybe he announces that then so we could just kind of slide under the radar and it's not you know it's not worldwide news and again obviously. It still will be hilarious. Gerald retires but you know what i'm saying is that right. He's not on the front page and he's not the only story. Because that's never been. Who larry fitzgerald is that he might just try to slide it in You know at the last minute where they can't make a big to do about it but Yeah i just to me. It feels like i think they've built some things they you know put. Jj watt and jay green and rodney hudson and added some great veterans to the young talent that they have that you just feel like this could be a year that you know. The cardinals kind of turned the table. A little bit and get to the play offs and who knows make another run. And and i know he desperately Wants to do that. He desperately wants another opportunity at a championship. So think how he feels about this team and where they're at You know could go along way and deciding he tells retirement or does another year. Few minutes left with kurt warner here on the rich eisen show and also on the match you saw iron rogers just play out of his skull place in some excellent golfing leading into that. He was talking about how he's worked on his mental Approach in his mental calmness in removing negativity from his life. And i thought my man he he was doing that last year was the mvp and now he's even got more of potentially zen qualities coming in. We got to see him play. I wonder how you honestly got to see him play. I wonder what you think now that you know. We are a couple of weeks from training camp remove. What you think is is going on there will happen. I mean i've always said that. I just i believe he will play in a packer. Is that i just. If you're the packer. I don't know if you can let it play out any other way. I've got to see him. Not play before i'm gonna think about making any moves to let him out the door. I mean he's just two special of a player he means too much. He makes your team so much better And just the leadership that he brings and as you said the communist that he brings me you talk about where he's at now. I've always thought he's handled himself extremely well. In terms of being able to handle whatever comes his way and not getting too excited about it. I mean we all remember the the relaxed and all of those things that he's always handled himself that way. Really really well. And i believe you'll do that again this year. Even though it's been kind of a crazy off season. I think he'll come back and battle with his guys Unless they trade him. And i think he will be playing it. I mean it just to me. It just makes sense and maybe i'm just being an optimist because i'm a huge fan of of the league and what he brings to the table and how he makes league better and I'm hopeful that he doesn't go somewhere else and then he stays in the back of all right before. I let you go kurt. I saw your instagram feed. And your twitter feed. Because i follow. You occurred on a friend a colleague And the photographs that you tweet it out in. I gede out from the set of the film based on your life zachary levi plane you and Anna pack when pro playing Brenda your wife..

Eight four four two zero four rich being the number to dial. We'll take your phone calls later on this hour. Paul scheer the actor from black monday. He will join us in our number three. Kevin clark of the ringer A couple of things happened last night outside of the basketball world. Kind of left out us including Move over otani you not the only home run hitting pitcher in major league baseball. What a moment last night in san diego. We'll hit on that latest padres grand slam. That really is what baseball's all about. How washington nationals fans might disagree but That's coming up later on this show for the moment. Though is our next guest on. The phone is joining us right now. His phoenix suns his phoenix suns. This is a man who wants came so close to bringing a lombardi trophy to the valley of the sun. As a matter of fact he's closest they ever came was thanks to his right arm and larry fitzgerald hands and legs in the rest of the team. My compadres from nfl game day morning and westwood. One radio kurt warner here on the football Program known as the rich eisen show for the moment. How are you kurt. what's going on brother. I am doing good man. I'm excited to have you as part of a new team of westwood one month rent broad going to be going to be a great year. Can't wait to get things started. It's good times coming up. So let's let's let's hit Right off the bat here. What what would a championship. And the national. Basketball association mean to phoenix arizona. Writ large kurt. What do you have for me on that front. Maybe it's the biggest thing is you realize as you kinda go through this and when i was playing is that anytime you make a run for championship It's about an entire community. It's not just about the team in the organization. It's about that community coming with you and it's been a long time since the sons have been in this position and competing for championship. And you know really just across the valley. It's been a long time You know waiting for their teams to get to this point And so it. It's fun to watch the city. Getting excited You know my son in law was raised here. And he's been you know diehard suns fan for thirty plus years and you're starting to see that excitement from all these people that have been son stands forever And now sitting here at two now and everybody's of feeling a little bit obviously the long way to go the final. You still got a win for. Yes but there is a lot of buzz and excitement instability. And that's what it's all about is bringing that whole entire community. And you know i saw when i was playing unbelievable community the way they support their players and their teams and so it would be awesome for For the sons to bring a championship back here. I was actually texting. Larry fitzgerald last night. Who's you know minority owner with the team. And i told him i said the only problem i have is that i don't want your first ring to be from an nba bath and not an nfl football field so that was my only regret about it but you know a big part of the team and a big part of you know helping turn things around in the excitement around the evening so i'm excited for him in the entire teams. How did larry respond to that texture. Can you give me that. He didn't he didn't really say anything to that. I feel the same way as excited as he would be to to be a part of that championship. There's no doubt that he would. He would rather get the one. That's old enough to lombardi and on a football field. You know sooner. I bet i bet and just you know we because we started the show talking about kurt. You know how this team is just hitting its stride. It gets better. You know like they're getting better that that's and that's why there is a a sense of inevitability even though there are two games to go they're getting better. You know. bridges had a career high. You you see both cameron's performing better you're seeing crowder seeing eight and then. Obviously paul and booker with monty williams. We played a sound bite at the top of the show to of how he was coaching. Eight in the huddle. I love monty williams. I just love. i'll say this kurt i. He reminds me of dungy. The way that he comports himself and it isn't the loudest guy in the room but what he says lands like he's yelling. You know what i'm saying. He's got that audie and you know that he's been through some stuff as well. So i i think everybody has gravitated to his personality. Not just on the team but in the community. And i think really around the league and are pulling for you know this man that's Has been through a bunch in a tremendous leader in the way that he carries himself and the reason that he does what he does. And you could tell that he cares Not just about winning a championship. But he cares about about these young men and helping them be the best and so unbelievable leadership from that standpoint. You know even checks leary again last night. It's just. The team reminds me to some degree of our team back in. Oa you know. Kind of the old leader at the helm You know interest paul. Who's kind of come in and settled down all these these young pieces but then there's so many young superstar surrounding him but he seemed to be glue and the leader that brought everything together and it kind of reminded me of our team and as the old guy came in and kinda leading in settling down the charge when we get to the playoffs young talent. That's really separating them and starting to find out about some of these guys that you know to me were household names..

"It's gonna be special all three hours worth all special. It's gonna be great Good see chris brockman over there. I'm great mike del tufo. Rich and tj jefferson. Come on down good. How are you good to see you. All right So the nba finals is over. Congratulations wait a minute. I'm being told they're still two games left to go. Look we were talking about the suns having a feel of inevitability going into the series going into game one going into game two after game one. Jeff van gundy calling the action on tv for espn john. Barry calling action on radio free. Espn both back to back. Last two days prior to this july ninth show july show nine. Twenty twenty one A couple of times. I got to stop and say you know. It's it's we're talking as if it is inevitable and Dating deny that it sounded that way. And hey you know they're still series. And and if i told you that jaanus tenneco would Perform as he performed last night He would have Forty two points. Twelve rebounds Shooting eleven of eighteen from the line. Which for him is you know. Sixty one percent. That's pretty damn good for him. throwing four cysts to steal three blocks and Also Score twenty points in the third quarter which we haven't seen since jordan. Did something like that in twenty five years and so If you said that like okay. We're we're going back to milwaukee tied at one apiece. Problem is problem is in. This is the ultimate conundrum for the box. The ultimate conundrum for the bucks problem is is. You've got a problem when the opposing team says will your mvp try and beat us. You know they also basically like we can't. We can't stop them. I mean the first points of the game was going coast to coast jam. It down. amazing. I mean he is truly amazing but but but if if you're like can't give him the ball and crunch time because he's going to go to the free throw line shoot sixty one percent which van gundy's like look not every game comes down to a low of one possession or something. Usually it does though when it comes down to a playoff game. And he's tremendous. He's terrific but he just had that game last night and it felt like empty calories and i think the bigger problem for the bucks is they don't know on a daily basis which khris middleton is showing up and drew holiday with scared to shoot the ball last night. How about twelve thirty seven combined shooting for both of them five or sixteen for middleton and twenty one for jrue holiday so janas does what he does and it's like the sun's are like okay We'll we'll let your we'll let you normally it's like we will not let the mvp beat us and we'll let everybody else. Try and beat us. And i guess the the mvp try to beat him and the everybody else you know. Couldn't beat them. But jonah has to score sixty if those guys looks like. That's that's what i'm saying is down. Seat comes up with that stuff he did. You know the bucks. Jaanus was the only buck positive and the plus minus ratio last night. Three everybody else was minus meaning. When they're on the floor they're they're losing and sons are just they just even when they're deep even even when you're you feel like you're going to maybe catch them. They make the plays. There was a a point last night. Four minutes to go and it was a six point game and the sun's miss rebound sons. Miss rebound sons. Get a three pointer and then that was it but that was the former hours right. After this could be contin had an open three that would have cut it to a three point game. He missed then on the other end. You mentioned three offensive rebounds. Chris paul it's a corner three bucks come down. Miss bridges puts in a layup. And now it's eleven. It could have been three now. It's eleven and that's harasser. They make all the plays when they need to their deep bridges. You just mentioned him. Career playoff high twenty seven. He's just the it. This is also. I feels inevitable. Because they're peaking you could see. They are peaking chris. Paul has been peaking for a damn month. Even even with kovin even fights off kovin. He's been peaking for a month. Booker's peaking for what a year and a half the andrea eytan has been peaking and both cameron's are peaking and and then monty williams. This caught my ear. And i last night. 'cause we we we heard about how how he is Coach of the year material. And even though. Tom thibodeau won the award from what from from the writers right from his peers. Though i think monty williams won the award and he just brings it. The it is just a com- smooth ocean. There are no waves just a destination. That's what you want. that's what you need. You need that com sense of strong stewardship. That's what he brings. That's what he always seems to bring. This was last night. John rayton is got his head down. He's got his head down on the huddle. Did you see this. Chris dead okay. It's aas wired for sound so for those you know we're gonna play it Right here on peacock. So i'll describe it even for those who are watching us on our daily stream after the dan. Patrick show before brother from another that. de'andre got his head down and monte williams's coaching him specifically in.

Learning How to Lead with Ryan Hawk
"Ryan hawk on dose of leadership man. I'm excited that you're here. Welcome the show my friend. I appreciate it. Thanks for having me rich You know we've been connected the lincoln and obviously had known about your show for a long time so similar past but always wanted to have you on this show talked. Nfl leadership junkie so man. I'm glad you're here. Like i said thanks for having me it I was read about. Your story is pretty wild especially with everything. Going on as a pilot and september eleventh man. I was I was like wow. This is going to be interesting. Yeah no it's it's it's been a journey but it so i'm curious i i would bet that are past. They're similar in the sense. That if i understand correctly football was kind your dream as you were growing up and then going through college and then you played somewhat professionally as well right and then. How did that in. I don't quite know the story how that ended. Why did the football come to an end. Eventually they tell you you're not gonna Like most guys they re. The sport retires you tire from. And so i played after college. I played for a few years in the arena. Football league briefly went up to canada. And cfl you know handful of workouts in the nfl and then they they say Yeah you're you're you're okay. But not good enough to To make it to the upper echelon of the sport and the nfl where you can actually earn a living and the really gripe played. It's essentially like playing minor league baseball right. You do you do it for the opportunity to keep playing into potentially catch. Someone's eye so that you could maybe have the story like kurt warner right. Kerr played in the arena. League gets gets a workout. He impresses he gets a job. The starter gets hurt and all the rest is history is now in the hall of fame. So i think that's why you do it you you and that's why i did it for a few years and I love those great experience. I mean you. Don't you can only do that when you're still in the prime of your athletic life and and so i'm glad i did it even though it delayed a little bit of my professional career but I i definitely don't regret. Yeah with so when you found it came to an end was it. Was it something you kind of always knew is going to happen you prepared for you said you know what i'm going to play ride this out as long as i can and then i'm going to start some sort of professional career and business or something that always in the back of your mind or was it like with me. I always thought. I was going to be a pilot and west when nine eleven happened and i got thrust in the corporate arena was a little bit of panic. Initially but How was it for you. Well i you know. I think kids. Are i talk with high school and college kids now. They're just so much smarter and better intentions than i did. When i was in college I didn't even really think about not playing football right And and so That could you know. I had friends who were really good about Building relationships creating connections setting themselves up for for life after college. I just wasn't one of those people. I i was immature like a lot of twenty two year olds and so i didn't have any thought of not playing I just happened to get really lucky. I am a family friend. Decided to take a chance on me and hire me into a sales job and And then just said hey just kind of use the same type of work ethic you learn as a player but now do this year for this job and if you do I have a hunch that things will go well. his name's rex. Goswell still a great friend to this day and just i'm just lucky. I had a person who is willing to take a shot. And then i as i try to do. I like to prove people right When they believe in fortunately it kind of my career went from there man. What a blessing to have that person kind of in your corner to kind of steer you. They saw something in you right. Which i think is an obligation of all this leaders right. Great leaders kinda see something that we don't even seen ourselves ripe and they help extract that out of you. That's great and then as i suppose you started working and that's when it was a lexus nexus nexus right and so you're in this sales position in this professional role like with me that's when it became. I started getting these moments of clarity of like. Oh where i came from. In my case it was the marine corps and flying planes in my mindset was limited. When i first started in thinking all i know how to do sleigh airplanes and but then as i got into the corporate arena i started saying oh i did learn a lot more than just flying airplanes. I'm assuming the probably same happen you with your football experience in in the great coaches and mentors you surrounded yourself around most of your life. I learned i learned how to develop a work ethic. I learned resilience. I learned preparation. I learned being coach -able. I learned how to collaborate with others. i got to college. I was on a much more diverse team people from wide variety of backgrounds. And i played a in the arena league down in birmingham so completely different from where. I'm from here in ohio and so i would say i think i learned about people. I learned a lot about myself. Learn about how to work. I learned how to do extra. I learned all that from my coaches from playing sports. And so i. I just tried to take that into the professional world and i liked the profession of selling because the people who were landing at the top of the stack rankings. The people who were making the most money the people who are getting promoted. They were the ones who were working the hardest. I don't have any experience. But i do think i could work And so i i. I was willing and still. I'm willing to to to work really hard at it. And then Eventually led to me. You know having some success in doing well exceeding the goals accompany set for me and then that led to promotions and more opportunities. And so i think that's that i direct all of that back to a combination of two things. One my family. My parents my brothers as well as My coaches who really taught me how to out of work once. I want for my eighth grade to ninth grade year.

"I wonder the this is something that you may not want to talk about it now. But I guarantee you that when you see it, if you see it, you have an opinion about it. For one four seven nine nine one six twenty continued next night. Eighteen WTMJ continuing on now. He got some calls coming in. Jordan is lining up. Here's eric. I am Scott. Clearly when we are talking breastfeeding that as a topic that neither one of us can we talk about it, you can relate to it. Maybe a little bit as a dad of several kids, but we can only relate to it so much. So we found a mom in the halls just written on colleagues Radio City Tilly. Okay, Tilley pull up to the Mike here because we were talking you have how many kids you have. I have two kids three three and one and a half. This is this is perfect. What was your approach to breastfeeding in public where you somebody that, you know what if it has to happen? And I'm in the produce aisle, it's going to happen there in the produce aisle, or were you, somebody who Felton if there's a more private plane. Ace or zone or area the store to do it. That's where I'm going to do it. Let's set the groundwork. Yeah. You know, I believe he has a female, you know, we have been given the tools to properly feed, our child. And so, I feel like hey, if my child has to eat, we're gonna find a place to feed my child. And so for me, maybe not in the produce aisle. Like I understand that there's still people that maybe aren't as comfortable with someone dislike whipping out there, you know, breath. Right. And everybody that can be a little bow like off putting to some people. So consider your audience. But if there's an appropriate place, though, I, I've done it in addressing room where I want to get out of my house, too. I wanna live a life to, and I have to get out, so, you know, so appropriate place meaning in private. Yeah, I yeah, I mean, I've done it on a bench sitting somewhere, but they also make things for women like these hoods. They call them capes that you kind of throw over yourself. And I know some people are more comfortable than others. Other moms. I've seen some of my girlfriends who just were at a party in the middle of the room latched on there we go on like oak. And I think in good for you. Your kid has to eat. I don't care. God hates that there's other people at this party who are sweating and very uncomfortable. I'm not invited to. Any? Okay. So what makes you uncomfortable about it. I'll tell you what, there was a time when I was in college, and there we were in the union between classes or whatever the and my buddies having our big fantasy football meeting whatnot. We get to talk about you know, I think it'll be later, whatever noon, we might focus a little bit more on something called the Super Bowl leading up to that. Is this like is it going to be like, I feel like it's going to be like rocky because I know you're training. Are we gonna have like you out in the rain and the snow and chasing the rooster? And I mean is it going to be a whole thing? And then we get to the race. Don't show us the end of the race hitting hitting frozen meat hung on. Yeah. I mean, I know you've been training for it this year. So we need to see training video nothing else you'd better get ready for the com-. No, I'm I'm I'm doing it. I'm I I don't know if you've noticed. But I mean, I've I sorry. I didn't. But I will notice if you'd be saying, I don't know. I I noticed that Osho expect to beat him. I don't know. I don't know what to expect. But it's set up. He's more of a hundred two hundred. In forty you might be able to get them in. All right. Yeah. I'll get. Starters. You know, as you know, I short bursts early speak, which I've Got got. very short loves when I try physical challenges. I love that. I cannot wait for that video. I can't wait till Sunday. "But then he also had Brody Crowell or a couple of weeks. I I don't know. I think Kurt Warner on Larry FitzGerald, Kurt Warner. And Carson Palmer threw him the most touchdown passes. Then you've got Josh mccown John Skelton, Kevin Cobb, Matt liner, Derek Aniston, drew Stanton. Blaine gabbert, max hall. Josh rosen. Yeah. Sandra? And as bad as all those quarterbacks were their offense was famously worst. Remember, they didn't invest in that for years. Yeah. You know? I it should be graded. Your your stats should be great at a little bit there. If you're a wide receiver who was throwing you the ball. I it's a little system argument. Dan, do you think Larry Fitzgerald's in a system? No, you're saying that he did that all these other great receivers or an assistant in. Larry's even more impressed this system once they had good quarterbacks. Yeah. If Larry FitzGerald was a patriot for his entire career. How many how many catches do you think he has? Does he have more than he has now? He would have been the ultimate slot receiver that could do more, you know, because it lasts seven eight years you'd kind of kind of a slot receiver short, man. Yeah. Because Larry FitzGerald had one hundred hundred and three catches at age twenty two and one hundred and nine catches at age thirty four he had a few like his down years are eighty two catches eighty catches, mclovin. If Jerry Rice desert hook up with Bill wash Joe Montana, Steve Young as he rewrite the record book five times over. No, no that helped him. He had a perfect system. Perfect storm. You had an offensive genius. You had the second greatest quarterback of all time. And you had Steve Young another hall of Famer in there. That's pretty good and he had respectable wide receiver. John Taylor was a good wide receiver. But they they had a system there with great quarter. The the system was you had great quarterbacks to throw the ball now with Jerry still a been a great wide receiver. Yes. But would he rewrite the record books? I don't think so. Like if he played for the Cleveland Browns is Jerry Rice going to be one of the all time greats. I don't know. I mean, we all Brady said if the cardinals drafted me things might have gone a lot differently..

"Would I bring him in absolutely one hundred percent, right. Starting. While you're to both being counted. That'd be cool with that. He's thirty eight. I'm just. How old are you? I know Eli manning is a very competitive guy. And he also knows reality. So if it's a competitive situation, so be it. Do you think he would rather be in a competitive situation where he's not guaranteed a starting job with the giants or guaranteed a starting job in Jacksonville or Miami? Something he probably got to ask this wipe that one. What do you think you'd have to ask me? Why? Ask is why he's got a family. These these set set routes. I think he wants to be a giant. I think he'll retire. If he can't that to most giant fans feel this way. I have no issue with whatever he wants. If he said, you know what I don't want a competitive situation. I want to start. I don't blame them championships in my opinion. He's a hall of fame. He can do thirty eight. If they say the job is yours until you lose it. But this is a guy that you competing with. I'm sure you look at it and say, okay, I'm pretty confident in what I can do. Or and if he gets beat out he'll say, okay, fine. But what if what happens to Kurt Warner happens to him? Kurt Warner didn't lose the quarterbacks job was a placeholder. And he knew exactly we were that. Okay. But here's the thing about losing a job about place holders. Right. Because when Aaron Rodgers was on the bench, he was a placeholder to his heir apparent, but the other guy was lighting it up so much. They couldn't get him in a while. Like Kurt Warner was his his his glory days. Now are using water back. What like he was lightning up with the greatest show on? So if you're a starters playing well, the parent is still the heir-apparent he just doesn't get time until it happens. So. It's thirty eight. It is what it is. If he's got to compete need and want to God bless him. And if he says, okay, bring a guy in I know what I can do. And if apples to apples in my conditions are right. I'll show you what I can do. You can't ask for any more as a thirty eight year old quickly on these games. Quick indy. Houston waiting if India Southie. I'm picking all the road team. I don't know why it's so probable picking the cult culture and healthy. I'm picking them the Seahawks. I believe. Eagles are my they're my team is going to be the most disruptive in this playoffs. I could see killing it'd be wrong. I don't know if we've ever had a wild card weekend where every road team wins. But this is what I think if the culture healthy, that's the only one I think that's iffy. The colts anybody else, I I like on the road. Interesting. Those are the keys to these games to the giant quarterback Keith. Coaching anyway. Do we pick the furniture? We like we're going to get it. I don't wanna waste looking around gets crowded at eight thirty. I may jerseys amongst all my jet. L alley. We've got one left. How I wish you own the team Carl stack think I they can't get cute with this. They can't. But they oughta jets, and they can be cute..
All the important questions as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson go head to head in The Match
"He had a dinner with Tony Romo. And that was Tigers. Pro-am partnered Pebble Beach back in two thousand twelve and he went to dinner with Tony Romo just to bother. Tiger woods. So Phil said that you know, Tigers partner was Tony Romo and that night before the final round Saturday was big dinner. The Jim Nance put on I got seated next to Tony. We had a great night had a lot of fun. But I knew it would bother tiger that I had dinner with his partner. Tony knew this would also bother him. So he said, it was caddy do not mention that we had dinner last. Knight. Phil don't bring up the dinner. We're on the I t I IT off tiger tees off. I wait before I walk off because I want to distance myself between me and Tony. So I could say it loud enough. So as we're walking off the first TI yell out. Hey, Tony, Tony that was so much fun. Last night. I loved the dinner that was the greatest and tiger looks at him and said, you know, giving that look like that was a big deal Mickelson called her a moment that he laughs with tiger about now. But at the time, it was pretty intense. Mickelson ended up winning. But isn't that what we're all hoping for this weekend at the matches that one of them goes a little real in jab like UFA, like when I want a guy puts one in the weeds and just has a little Ouch. Just enough to. Okay, now, it's real, and it's a real competition because that's what ever wants. I hope we have some of that. Because tiger never let you in. It's rare when he let you in. But if he does then I'd love to hear the sense of humor, see the sense of humor or just to see a subtle dig their or the gamesmanship that goes on in what you would think they would be really wanting to say like if you had thought bubbles this time. You don't have thought bubbles. You just actually had their thoughts. That's what would be great Friday after thanksgiving.
Patriots, Tom Brady and Kansas City discussed on Get Up!
"Will be the fifty sixth straight game in which Tom Brady is a favourite that breaks the previous record for a quarterback who's record you'd think he broke. Steve, you know, it's interesting. The answer is Kurt Warner that Grady on turf, oh, what was favored in fifty five straight games from ninety nine to two thousand three nice and this offense that is coming into play New England on Sunday night one that a lot of people are comparing to that greatest show on turf in Kansas City. So as we look ahead to what is one of the really good games this weekend, maybe the best game this weekend, Kansas City at New England on Sunday night. Do you think we will learn more that in that game about just how good these chiefs are more just how good this year's patriots are. I'm gonna say we're going to learn more about the chief simply because of this. The patriots have been in many of these big gains before they know how to play in these types of games. And if they came out and put on one of their best performances offense in terms of controlling the clock, spreading the field horizontally vertically scored a bunch of points defensively. They came out and fundamentally without a way to slow down the chiefs offense. No one would be shocked. People will say that's Bill. That's Tom. That's what they've done for. The past thousand years, that's just what they do.
