"kurt warner" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show

"This man called Super Bowl 57 on Westwood one radio after, by the way, 6 plus hours of the 8 and a half, we gave him grief for Tapping out, but he's only talking to a nation in a world for the Super Bowl, but that is not easy. Especially since he also ate hot wings during a prediction segment. Did you see that? What was that? I mean, this was a monumental Super Sunday effort, probably on par with being the last guy to win the MVP of the year and the MVP of the Super Bowl, prior to mahomes. This is the introduction for Kurt Warner back here in the riches. How are you doing Kirk? I'm good, my man, how are you? I'm great. I mean, what a day for you Sunday, man. What a day? It is a long day, but the energy of that day and the fans and obviously the awesome blessing of being able to call the Super Bowl and what a great game that was. I mean, the energy just kind of carries you. As you know, you get that long day and as soon as you kind of sit down and take a deep breath is when it really hits you, but it's just fun. It's culmination of everything that we do. It's always a great week and then finishing up obviously a long day on Sunday, but it's a fun day on Sunday for all of us our show was great and then it was great to call the game. And then the show began with the Super Bowl. I don't know if you're aware, but this was deep buried in the NFL network research packet. First Super Bowl since Super Bowl 32 Kurt, Super Bowl 32, where both teams came out and scored a touchdown in their offensive positions. Their first ones. That was the first. They came out smoking. Both teams. You know that's funny because I was actually looking into that as my bold prediction that the boat's going to score in the first drive. Then our researchers said, hi, it actually happens all the time. So I'm like, okay, I'll go find something else. So interesting that it hasn't happened since 32. Oh, are you throwing Ben under the bus for not giving you the full prediction idea? It must have happened lots before that because I think I'm sure he just looked it up and go, oh, it's happened 15 times or whatever. Not since Super Bowl 32. Not since two before your first Kurt. You know? Not like the nugget. What do you what do you think of, I guess, screw it, I'll just start with the end. What did you think of the holding call? Kurt at the end. You know, I mean, I'm one of those that I see exactly why they called it. It's always one of those things. I always try to step back and be objective and go, okay, can I see why they called it? Yeah, I fully see why they call it. Although it looks like a very little penalty, when you're back there as a quarterback and a guy is running that kind of route where you go in one way, you stop and then you separate back the other way. A little pull like that does two things. The first thing it does is obviously it slows your guy out down coming out. Where I think he would have probably gone there. But it also helps the defender to speed up. And so what's really hard about that is even if it's not very big, it puts that defender in a position that scares you to death to throw that because your guys coming towards him. He's going the other direction. And that's a pick 6 waiting to happen. And so although it looks small on a route like that, it's extremely big because of that separation that happens when you're going one direction, the defenders going that direction, you stop quick and you separate, it's easy to create a nice little window there that I think Patrick Mahomes throws the football. So although it looks like a very little thing. And there wasn't a lot of movement on the play. That hold and you saw it. I mean, everybody saw the grabbed the Jersey and the Jersey was pulled. That nobody wants it to happen in that moment. I get it. But I think it was the right call. And I do think he probably completes that pass. If there's not a hole there and who knows, I don't know, does he get the first down? Does it change everything? I'm not really sure there. But I'm objectively saying I understand 100% why it was called. And anytime there's a pull of the Jersey to me, it's always the easiest call for an official to make as he looks over there and you see Jersey in the hand of the defender and pulling away from the receiver. It's an easy one to call even though we all would have liked to have not had a penalty there. Right. And then it seemed that juju was running a route similar to routes being run successfully in the second half of the game. What do you think Andy Reid the enemy in the rest of the staff saw as they sifted through eagles, defensive tape in the bi week, all biweek long all week long that they exploited to success in the second half? Yeah. Well, follow me here. So they had a play earlier in the game where sky more down in the red zone where Skye Moore started on one side of the ball and motion to the other side of the ball. And so when he did that, they were in man to man coverage. The guy covering him man, I think it was slaying that particular case. He went all the way across the other side and stopped. And so sleigh, as he was coming across, bounced to kind of a free safety position. And they rocked a guy from the other side of the free safety down to cover him on the other side. So we went from one side to the other he stopped, then he went back and then when he went back, they rocked it the same way. So slay ended up covering him. They actually ran the ball there. I think it might have been a touchdown there with Pacheco. So they came back later in the game and did that same thing twice, where it was short motion as if they were going to cross the field. And as they did that, the guy covered in man was going to bounce into the free safety spot and they were going to rocket the other way. And both times the receiver started and then he stopped and bounced back to the outside. So as the rotation was happening by the defense, they were looking to get back into their positions, assuming the receiver was going to the other side. He stayed on that side. They got out of position and he bounces out and he's wide open because they catch them kind of mid transition defensively. And so it was a great job whether they saw it coming into the game or whether they sought earlier on that play where sky more motion to both sides and they say, oh, they're rocking both ways. They came back and called it. And the beautiful thing is the first one to Tony was actually an RPO. And so there was a run play call. So Patrick wouldn't have had to throw it. He was just looking to see with that motion, did slay start to rock and get past that position. Sure enough, he did. So he could have handed it off if they did something different. They didn't, he pops it out there for an easy touchdown and then they come back and run a similar play later. Wow. That's all I got to say is, wow, Kurt. So by the way, that's one of the many reasons why I love you. A great way to describe something on film without the benefit of us watching it as you were describing it. That said, so when do you, when do you communicate that? When do you use a quarterback receive this information about what somebody either upstairs or on the sideline is seeing on a run play earlier in the game based on the coverage that's being displayed by the defense, when does that get communicated in mahomes to say, hey, on an RPO, look for that. And your guy will be wide open. Probably as soon as you come over to the sideline after that touchdown, that we hand it off. And they come back because a lot of times you do put similar things like that.

Super Bowl to Feature Two Jesus Ads as Part of 'He Gets Us' Campaign

"Sunday is the Super Bowl. Can't wait. I love football. I love watching the Super Bowl. I have not missed a Super Bowl since boy, the first Super Bowl I remember, which was Kurt Warner, the greatest show on turf versus Tom Brady's first Super Bowl, the 2001 2002 super bowl. And a single Super Bowl advertisement will run you anywhere between 6 to $7 million. Well, an organization that is running ads called he gets us is going to spend $20 million for a Super Bowl advertisement this Sunday. $20 million. Now, you've probably seen some of these ads. It's the he gets us advertisements. Now look, I am all for getting people closer to Jesus. I love it. But is that what this is really doing? Well, let me play one of these advertisements for you, then we're going to welcome Ali be stuckey from the wonderful LB stucky podcast. I'm going to ask the question, is this evangelism? Is this trying to spread the gospel? Or is this open border woke ideology that is appropriating Christianity to try to argue for the dissolution of the American country? Play cut one 26. They've already poured tens of millions of dollars into this ad, play cut one 26. There was some mother in the father who had a son. They lived in a small village and didn't have much money. But they were happy. One day, they hurt the head of their country was sending soldiers to their town. Because he thought they were part of an insurrection. The young family decided to flee. They grabbed only what they could carry. And bran.

"I think that's going to be a bigger key in this game than just hoping that the front four wins over and over again because I just I don't see it happening because in the championship game, they put Chris Jones out on the defensive end position and he won that last, you're not putting them out there against lane Johnson. That's not a matchup that you want. So you're going to keep him inside, but Jason Kelsey is so good. I mean, there was one snap from the game last week where you had Bosa and Armstead on the same side of the field. And you saw Jason Kelsey snap the ball and he literally turned and sprinted in that direction to go, I'm coming over here and helping these guys. Like, I know where their biggest strength is on the defensive line. I am going to make sure that I double team that side. I believe you're going to see him do that every opportunity he gets with Chris Jones if they play him on the inside. So it's going to come down to scheming up opportunities to get Chris Jones one on one and hopefully win or get free hitters on Jalen hurts and hope that he makes a mistake here or there. One last tape head all 22 question for you, Kurt Warner again, your QB confidential, check it out on YouTube, which is where you lots of videos all over the street. So insightful. It's spectacular. Is why does Travis Kelce get so wide open? I mean, we were talking about it just earlier this week. Who is it Chris that was talking about watching it? TJ couldn't believe just seeing it on film. Who is that earlier this week? We've been saying it the whole time. Why is he not triple teamed on every single place? Exactly. We couldn't believe it. The fan people talking. Why don't you just triple team that guy? 'cause they're gonna throw it to him. That's impossible to do. But it's really hard to double. But everybody knows that he's gonna get the ball. No, but it's really hard. But the reason why he's so wide open so often is, you know, first and foremost, the feel that he has for the game, along with Patrick. It's not just Travis. It's them together and understanding how to adjust routes. And so you'll see, you know, Travis numerous times in a game where he's supposed to be running like a deep corner route. And he just gets out there and he realizes the defender that he just left, then he realizes the defender that's outside. And he just kind of stops where the big hole is. Or he'll be running a deep crossing route and he'll stop inside between the hashes when he's supposed to be outside the numbers on the other side because he's like, well, I know that linebackers over there and this linebacker is here and I know that Patrick will see it. And so that's one reason he gets so wide open. The second thing is he's so good at adjusting after the fact. So there was a play against the Jags in their playoff game. Yeah, he set a record for most catches in a game. But he's actually supposed to run a flat route on that play. Right. And the Jags drop their defensive end out to cover him. So he's run into the flat, and the defensive end is like, you know, was literally right on top of him from the get go. Right. And is running out to the flat with him, and he just stops and throws him by and comes back to the inside. And Patrick buys a little bit of time, flips it to him to the inside and gets 12 yards on the play. Where he wasn't even supposed to be in there. He was supposed to be outside, but they have such a great rapport with one another. And Travis has such a great feel for where defenders are and how to adjust his routes accordingly, that it's hard to stop him because who's going to cover a man to man. You're not putting a safety or linebacker on him to cover a man to man. Right. So now you have to cover them with zone and he's going to find the opening in the zone and Patrick is good enough to allow him to make those adjustments and make the plays with him. Who is that guy for you? Marshall Fitz? Who was it? Where you had that? You know, I was more of a structure guy. Where I didn't like my guys adjusting as much. I wanted to, you know, because that's the hard thing. You know, there was another play in that Jacksonville game where Travis goes and runs a deep corner route and Patrick thinks he's gonna stop and they missed a play because of that because they were they weren't on the same page, even though they usually are. And so I was a guy that was like, you just run where you're supposed to go. I'll read the defense and then I'll get it to the right guy. But I mean, as far as a feel for the game Marshall was Marshall. Marshall was because he saw what I saw and that's kind of what I'm saying is that Travis and Patrick see the same things in the course of a play and you don't very often see that from receivers that they can see and understand what a quarterback seeing. So he can hang with you a little bit longer and yeah, Marshall was definitely the guy that I knew when sometimes when he was running around so I'm like, I know exactly where he's going to break this and how he's going to break this because he's seeing exactly what I'm seeing and it made it like stealing and it looks like that sometimes with Patrick and Travis. Yeah, it makes sense. Marshall would be saying things as I'm thinking it on television. Yes. Exactly. He would do that all the time as well. Kurt Warner, you can see curtain I and the rest of the NFL game day morning crew Sunday starting at 9 a.m. Eastern Time, 8 and a half hours, but not all of them for you because you big Thomas to go call Super Bowl 57 on Westwood one with Kevin Harlan. And I appreciate you joining us here. Certainly since you're going into your darkness retreat starting later on today, right? And we won't see you. You come out on that 8 and a half hours of TV. We got to do so. I think I need a few days of isolation. That's what you do, right? Before

"I know you leave a lot on what you guys will close up shop there. Kurt Warner here on the rich eisen show here at the Super Bowl in Arizona. So the key to this game, what do you got for me? I mean, you are the grinder of tape of all grinders of tape. I'm sure you have looked at everything. Well, I mean, you were at the NFC championship game. Yeah, I mean, there's so many different things. You know, that's kind of what I do all week is kind of dive into the other areas that people aren't talking about. But I mean, if we're talking about the key to this game, to me, it's a trenches. As much as I want to say, it's the quarterbacks because I think we have two great quarterbacks. Two guys, I thought Jalen should have been the MVP before he got hurt. I think Patrick will win it now. You know, so I want to talk about them. But I believe this is the most dominant team in the National Football League in both trenches, not just one side or the other, but defensive line, defensive front, offensive line. I think Philly is the best team that we have in the National Football League. They eviscerated that trench in Philadelphia against San Francisco. I know so much is being made about, well, who did Philadelphia be? I said that that was going to be the number one troll TV sports TV storyline coming in. And I'm hearing it more and more. But Brock purdy was half of himself when he came back in after Josh Johnson, but they knocked him out. I know. Both of them out there. They were in the backfield. You know, over and over again, you know, I break down tape and there's times where there's wide open receivers running somewhere and you know, we always want to say like just find that wide open guy. But there's three guys in the quarterbacks lap. You know, when he's trying to do that because there's pressure from everywhere, you were saying how you was open. I was listening to the broadcast on the way home. Was open on the playlist. It would have been a huge play. Maybe even a touchdown on that play. But yeah, I mean, and it's not just one guy. I think that's the thing that I always look at in these games too is how many different ways can a team beat you? How many different guys can beat you? You know, so the offensive line of the eagles is great. Sanders is a great running back. But they've got three running backs that I believe can all make big plays for him. Jalen hurts can make plays. You know, on the defensive side, they have four guys that had ten plus sacks. I mean, four guys, it's unbelievable. So that to me is the key to this game is how does Andy Reid Patrick Mahomes in this chiefs team, how do they try to at least just match the production of the trenches for the eagles? I mean, Chris Jones means one guy and not that they don't have other guys up there, but he's going to have to have a huge game. You know, the whole offensive line is going to be put to task by this defensive front over and over and over again. I mean, we all remember the last Super Bowl and I know they had injuries up front, but the front of Tampa against this chiefs team dictated that whole game. And so that to me is, I don't know what they're going to scheme up. Screen passes. Quick passes. You know, is Patrick Abel to pull some of his magic when they get quick pressure and avoid that and make big plays, but I truly believe Philadelphia is better in the trenches by a long shot. And that's going to dictate the course of this game. Kurt Warner here on the rich eisen show and mahomes was compromised in that Super Bowl against that buck's front 7 as well. We're talking about his ankle so much and Andy Reid said today that it looks like the entire playbook is available to him, what you're doing on that subject. I mean, I think the entire playbook was available last time. I mean, you know, he's so unique. I mean, if you go back and watch the championship game, you know, they're like third play of the game. They rolled him out to his right to throw past. Like, okay, once you start doing like, what's not available if you're willing to roll him out? Well, maybe you don't know where they do a ring around the roses. Okay, I'm not sure if coach coach Reed drew that one up. You know, and there was another time where Cincinnati got quick pressure in the inside. And Patrick just turned and ran to his left and then I think everything was available last week, probably more so this week if there's anything that they were afraid to do. I just think Patrick is special and he's got the ability to throw without his feet. You know, as well as anybody in the league. And so even if there is some residual issues there, he makes up for it with some of the special stuff that he can do throwing the football. So I feel like two weeks off, I don't even think it's going to be a factor unless he re injured. Okay, so then what the chiefs need, you mentioned Chris Jones. I mean, that's what you're just assuming the offense is going to show up at a certain way to try and counterbalance that front 7. I mean, I'm picking up that you like the eagles in this game, Kurt. I'm not going to I do like the eagles right now. Again, Patrick's always that X Factor. But less than I think it's about Chris Jones, although, you know, if they could get pressure with Chris and Frank and just those guys up front, I believe it's going to be about spags and his pressure game. Because jaylen's been so good, but the one area that he still struggles with more than any others is when you get quick pressure on him. You know, you get free runners and he's got to make those quick decisions and throw the football. And that's where he struggles. So I think the pressure game of spags and what they do defensively to try to confuse Jalen hurts and get after him in the pass game.

"Susie Schuster in for rich eisen rich is on assignment today. Happy to be with you, Kurt Warner was just on the show. If you want to access his interview, go back and get it on YouTube. Watch us on the Roku channel. That's where I watch every day. That's where I call in to Chris or TJ and complained about something they were taught to say or add something else because I'm a lucky Lou. That's just who I am, right? So I go to the Roku channel. I go online. I click rich eisen show. It's very simple. I go to mobile because I'm always in the car 'cause I live in Los Angeles. And it's easy. And I love it. I love it. All right, that's all I have to say. Let's take a couple calls if you don't know 'cause you know I love calls. A couple people have been waiting for a while. So I want to go first to Matt and Tennessee. Hi, Matt. How are you? Matt. Hey there. Matt, where are you at? You have a really good question too, Matt. Matt, what up though? Matt, a nudist, and also it's a good question. And I have to think about an answer. All right, Matt's back on hold. All right, Matt, you're back on hold, but let's go to Nathan in LA. Hi, Nathan. How are you? I am well, great to talk to you again. It's my pleasure. So I was, I was loving TJ's idea about a grunk show. Rather than make it another form of prank show, we're growing pranks, other people. I think it should be an open forum there kind of a show in the opposite direction. Where fans come up with some kind of elaborate dare for grant to do and he picks one or two of them per episode, depending on how sophisticated they are. And he does them. Here's my question. Do you have an agent? Should we get together and talk, yeah, I think we should maybe talk about this. Truth or Gronk? The truth or Gronk? By the way. That's pretty good. That's a great show. That's pretty good. Truth or Gronk. I know. I know a few people I used to work in the industry. We could probably set something up. Nathan, what happens if so let's project, okay? Two years come. You're watching Fox and it's up next day to clock truth or Gronk. Truth or Gronk brought to you by the rich, I didn't show truth or Gronk. Is that can I take the idea? Are you giving me this idea on national television? I just want to know. I want to be clear. Well, yes, but it's now recorded. I mean, you're speaking into national radio right now. So he actually took my idea so technically. We could. We added the dare part. This is a workshop. All four of us get credit. By the way, Nathan, I will cut you in. I think this is a great idea. Truth or Gronk. Honestly, I would watch that. I'm watching anything. You know Gronk would do it. I mean, he could there's not many things you could throw Gronk's way. His life maybe he would probably go for it. Yeah, but will he come back and catch a football from Tom Brady's? What I want to know. Hey, Nathan, thank you so much for the call. Appreciate it. Awesome. Thank you. I guess we lost Matt and Tennessee, but he's gone, but the question was, Mikey, what happened? What does rich do that's embarrassing that he wouldn't want people to know? It's not easy to embarrass rich eisen. So when someone has no shame, they can't be shamed. They can't be shamed. Now I will tell you there are several things that embarrass me, but that wasn't the question. So we're asking you. Shall I just share one? About my wonderful husband. This is it. We're all Friends. Yeah, go. He does the dance thing with Taylor. Do you see this too? And he does it here when he shimmies. I mean, I don't know if I can do this on Roku, but he does this very funny dance. That's very uncomfortable to watch. The pitchers walking in from the outfield too when there's a fight. He's kind of doing that. Well, that badge like the slow speed chase, right? If he does that, that's what he did. He does his little shoulder. Have you seen that Chris? Maybe she's his little man. He's dancing. That's how he dances. Dancing. But hold on, I get to hold my microphone because like, hold on, hold on a minute. I'm gonna get up. He does this thing where he just, I can't do it. Wait, so he's kind of like the Gopher and caddyshack? Yeah. I invented exactly what he is. The Gopher from caddyshack. Hey, two great movie references today. By the way, it's a little harbinger of things to come because I have a little special thing coming up later on the show. I'm just saying about entertainment, but two really good references to old movies. Fast times original on high. Again, because of Trevor Lawrence and spicoli. Do we have the side by side shot any chance Hoskins? There we go. They are the same person. It's a great one. Thank you very much. You're welcome. We do reference fast times quite a bit here. Do you? In what way? Just random quotes or Seinfeld, The Godfather. What are our most times? Yeah, like trading places. Training places is feeling good Billy Ray. We're looking good, Billy Ray, feeling good, Lewis. 70s, 80s references. This week, carlito's way. Carlito's way. Rich. My brother had me watching trading places around the clock. Frozen concentrated orange juice, right? Around the country. Look at that guy. Turn the machines back on. Billy Ray, is that you? I mean, by the way, that was my coming of age movie. Right? Exactly. That was good. You're watching the offer, Chris. I am. How great is that, by the way? One of my favorite shows. That's good, yeah. The guy who plays bob Evans is phenomenal. Matthew goode. I really like him. Yeah, I loved it. And I told you pre show, man.

"But I'm still going to lean towards the forty-niners just because I think they have more ways to beat you and they don't make as many mistakes on average as the Dallas Cowboys. And so it's going to be fun because I think there's some ways that you can take advantage of what the forty-niners do on defense or kind of slow them down and do some things against them. And I think Dallas is capable of doing those things against them. So I'm interested to see how they play this game. But until you show me, you can slow down this 49er team and all their different weapons and what they do on both sides of the ball. I'm going to lean towards the forty-niners to win this one. Kurt, I know we don't get much time with you. Last question. Tom Brady, what do you think he's going to do? I mean, get into his brain. I don't think he's going to be back with the bucks. So I think if he plays, he's going to play somewhere else. So I think a part of the factor becomes where else can he play? What are the options for him first and foremost? Because we know Tom Brady doesn't play just to play. He plays to win. And so he wants to be in a place where he can win. And so I think that'll be a factor along the way. What he thinks the possibilities are. But I think the biggest thing to me is that it just didn't seem like Tom was enjoying the ride. This year. Now, which way does that push him? Does that mean it was tough? We know a lot of stuff going on as personal life. It was just a tough year for him. So maybe that was just like, man, this year was so hard on and off the field for me. I want to come back and do it again because of all those things I didn't play to my best. Or does it push him in the other direction where he says, you know, man, this year was so hard. And it wasn't a lot of fun. And it's not football, as I know football. Maybe it's time to just step away, not start over again, not take a chance of having another season like that. And just kind of riding off into the sunset and get back to enjoying life because it is such a grind to play in the NFL and with the expectation that is always laid on Tom Brady. That's a heavy thing. And so I wonder if those things will push him one way or another. And then maybe most importantly, does he feel like there's a place out there that would want him that would sign him and that would be a team that in the short term meaning probably within one year like Tampa is ready to go win a Super Bowl? Kurt, I would be remiss if I didn't say congratulations on your son's good run this year. Thank you. Yeah, both of them had great runs. My son Kate at K state went in the big 12 and playing in the sugar bowl and he had a great year leading the team in touchdown reception. So it's been fun to watch him in his last year. Kind of blossom and have a great year and the team do so well. And then EJ, who's out at temple, is a true freshman. The true freshman all American, playing quarterback out there. So it was a great year for my boys in the game of football with so much fun to watch both of them shine. And see their journeys take off in different ways. What makes you more nervous, watching them or you playing. Yep. Yep, always. You start to realize my wife told me so many years when she would watch me. That she would watch me to a, see if I got up after I took a hit. And then watch me from the lens of always wanting something positive to happen every single play because she understands the scrutiny that comes from the outside. And I never really understood that. Just watch the game and enjoy it. Enjoy what I do and enjoy the process and now that I have kids playing I'm nervous and probably more so for my quarterback because I know the ball is in his hands every snap. "So my mentality was very much play, go, score every time, throw the ball all the time. And so I just, I fell into a place where it was like, oh, you get to do this all over again on a bigger field with all this incredible talent. So it was just so much fun to be a part of that team. Because of the talent that we had. And because of the nature of how we played, you know, the game that you play now is the game we played then. When nobody else was playing it. And that's what made it fun. It's like, oh, you're gonna hand the ball up. We're gonna throw it 40 times a game. We're gonna do this. So it was just, it was just a joy to be around great quality people dick vermeil going into Hall of Fame, him being our head coach, all the talent. You talked about that's already in the Hall of Fame. And then really more than anything, just the style. Isn't that at the end of the day when you're playing a game? Like, I just want to, can I just do what I do? Like, whatever that is is the defensive tackle or defensive end or a quarterback. I just want to play the way I'm capable of playing. And I fell into a system that said, you know, here's the ball. Go wing it around and do what you do. And there's nothing like that feeling when you know you're capable of it. And you find yourself in the perfect system. It's like, man, I could do this forever because it was just so much fun. Okay, so we've talked about one of the greatest teams. Let's talk about one of the most unlikeliest teams. You had the Cardinals team. Like, I know you guys started off on fire and then you guys fizzled and then you guys got into the playoffs and Larry just went crazy. Talk about that run. You know, there are different things that are rewarding throughout your career for different reasons. And that was one of the crowning jewels on my career. Simply because my career the way it played out, St. Louis, a couple super bowls, a couple MVPs, get released there. I go to the Giants and we played it completely different style. So everybody thought, okay, Kurt Warner can't play anymore and the ball to Eli. I mean, you know, he's not the greatest show on turf Kurt Warner anymore. Then I go to Arizona and, you know, it was kind of a combination was that nobody expected me to ever really play. You know, like, Kurt's best years are behind him, you know? He's probably a backup at this point in his career. And then I'm going to an organization where everybody was going. The Cardinals will never win.

"And at the end of the day, if we disagree, we can walk away. And that's been kind of the cool tool for me is, you know, a lot of people say, why do you respond to that person? You know, that usually says something negative and that's why, because I'm like, let's break down the barrier. Let's figure out what's going on here. And usually at the end of the day, it's like, oh, it's cool. And we start having these conversations over the years about different topics. And it's been a neat way to connect with people. Usually when it's negative, I use it as bulletin board material. And I make sure I so do you know if you screenshot everybody knows that. And then how do you use it? When you say bullets in board material, it's used for myself. When I was growing up, we had an ex world bullets in Roy. And we would have to stick the quote on a board. I know you don't do that. So like what? You go through your pictures every once in a while. And remember when Johnny B said this about just what I'm feeling bad about myself. It's good to look back on it and say, oh, I gotta shut that guy up. Okay. And so, you know, ship on your show. Yes, I've always had a tip on my shoulder. One of those guys, like, you know, I hear people like Tom Brady every year, you find something to have a chip or Aaron Rodgers. And I never thought of myself that way. I just want to go play and play grade.

"And enjoy the rest of the show and enjoy the draft? Yes, sir. Kurt Warner, everybody. Pro football Hall of Famer, Super Bowl champion. If you guys get a chance, go check out his film. It's pretty amazing. Just the story, the story. It has not a lot to do with football. It's more about the story and how somebody achieves their dream and never gives up and has the family support. All of it involved really good and fun to talk to him. He's been a huge influence on me. With my broadcast career, a lot of times I'll listen, I'll watch the Monday Night Football game and I'll turn it on mute and I'll just turn on the Westwood one broadcast and listen to him go with it because he's so darn good at what he does. All right, he talked all about the NFL Draft. We have a quick 6 picks to get done here if we're going to get done with this draft. At number 11 11. The pick is in for the Washington. Commanders. Mike del tufo. Who do the Washington commanders take? At 11 overall. Wide receiver Ohio State Chris olave. Oh. I like it. I like him as a player. I think there is a bit of a discussion of how big he is and whether that is. But I think this is a great pick. He was special. His body control in the air catching the football, great. All right, at number 12, the Minnesota Vikings select Chris brockman. Okay, Mike, you went crystal lave. I'm gonna take a value pick here. I'm gonna take Jermaine Johnson Florida state edge. Nice. This is a guy that I thought would have a real shot at the top ten. He slips a little bit in the rich eyes and mock draft, but a great pick for first year coach, Kevin O'Connell, to build up that defensive side of the football. Jermaine Johnson at a Florida state edge rusher. All right, at number 13, the Houston Texans, oh, sorry, the Houston Texans from a swap with Cleveland. We're caught up. We've done now we're through 12. But we were only able to do the two in the richest segment here I am. So Houston at number 13 selects Kyle Hamilton. Safety. Notre-Dame. Another guy that could have went in the top ten. I really like him, in fact, his ability to cover the field. I think he can be an incredibly impact player for the Houston Texas. These are the types of players that they need that they focused on the O line. And now on the back end of the defense to build them up and make them better, all right? So we got Kyle Hamilton at number 13. All right, TJ Jefferson. Pick in for the Baltimore Ravens at number 14, they select the second Baltimore Ravens. You know, I was really leaning towards the lava for the ravens here. There was sent to a panic and I don't want to Viking situation to happen where we lose our pick. So I'm going to play it safe. I wanted to get Lamar some help on the offense. I don't think I'm going to retract you. You have to write, but what do you got? Man, I think I'm just going to play it safe and I'm going to go with Trent mcduffie cornerback out of Washington. Oh, I like it. Now, this is DBU of late with Jimmy Lake and how he's produced these players. I like it. They need to, what was the problem last year for them? Where were the injuries? Of course, at running back. But at corner, right? They were depleted so much at corner. So I like that Trent mcduffie defensive back out of the University of Washington. Only bad thing about it is he went to Washington. That was the other thing. I was like, Ryan's not going to like this. Oh, I'm okay with it. He's a good kid. He's a good kid..

"Stuff. Rich eyes and everybody from the rich eisen show will be hosting the wall to wall coverage and just in awe of what the NFL has done. And how they've taken over last week. They're shutting down Las Vegas boulevard, guys. Sorry, doctor leaf. Yes. Imagine Mike del tufo yesterday. I like to better in the 80s when they were just in a room and hand in the car. They're going to have pontoons. Come on, man. You didn't say that part of it. He just said he liked it better back then. When it was in like the radio station when it was in Radio City Music Hall. It was old school in the shutting down the street in Vegas. Where you just got the commissioner and gets a hands of cards and stuff like that. I don't want that. I want to see the spectacle tonight because it's going to be cool. But we wish it was Radio City. Boring ass New York. Well, New York City. Maybe just in that room with some of the best best drafts. I mean, are you kidding? It happened in New York City. 1998, for example, I don't know who was drafted then. But what happened in here? All right? Oh, Tim Dwight. Speaking of speaking of the NFL Draft and somebody who was not drafted but became one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, Super Bowl champion Hall of Fame or Kurt Warner. He's going to join us next. Here on the rich eyes and show. I'm Ryan Lee, filling them for rich. We'll be right back. Conspiracy theories. Aliens. Paranormal. Bigfoot, UFO. "If you are, in fact, drafted by any team other than the jets before the jets choose. With the third pick. Would it be a problem if I came up and made sure the commissioner did not hand you that Jersey? That's what you were thinking about doing. The rich eisen show. With guest host, Ryan leaf earlier on the show. Minnesota football head coach, PJ black. Coming up. Pro football Hall of Famer. Kurt Warner, from pro football focus, Trevor sycamore and now sitting in for rich. It's Ryan Lee. Welcome back everybody to the rich eisen show, Ryan leaf here, filling in for rich, who we should have shortly efforting to get the main man in Las Vegas. Alongside TJ Jefferson. No, what up? Michael del tuo? Hey. Chris brockman. Hey, hey. I'm Ryan leaf. Let's go. I am hosting this show today. Again, I don't know about you guys, but when I was told I was going to host these shows, I put into the talent bookers to try for Will Ferrell again because I don't know if you guys are watching some of the Twitter feed, but everybody continues to think that at its Will Ferrell hosting the show. I don't believe I sound like him. But people clearly close their eyes and they can hear what was the last tweet I just saw a young Will Ferrell trying to be a straight laced sportscaster. Yeah, I don't hear it. I don't hear it either. I don't hear. Maybe because we're too close. Now maybe if I try to try to be Ron burgundy and start doing the whole thing like that. You got to go higher for that. Well, that's if there's a question mark on the teleprompter. I dressed up as Ron burgundy for the Halloween show for PAC 12 network and that's one of the lines I used. I looked at I looked at our co host, I said, I love scotch. The Batman. Milk was a bad choice. We got rich. Yeah. We didn't get to give him the white glove. There we go. Did you give him the white glove treatment? Brian's very excited. Welcome to the show. The host of this show. And rich, I want to ask you a question first up, did Mike give you the treatment today to let you know that I was very excited to speak with you? Yes. Okay, good. That happened. I think we're going to have a much better segment today now because of it. I think so too. I think so too. You got to drink some intercept intercept wine last night, eat with Charles Woodson. I mean, tell us about your evening before the draft. How's your hangover? There's no hangover. Oh, you're a pro. I'm sorry. I'm a pro, my voice is intact. For tonight. Oh, you know, thank you. "kurt warner" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show

"So I just think that one addition and all the focus that has to go to a devonta Adams makes this team dramatically better and like you said, I love Chandler Jones being here in Arizona get to know him and just the leader he is. I think he's huge on the other side of max. So I am. I'm excited about where they're at. And I think the team and the division they got better than anybody else. And you wonder about the chiefs without tyreek hill, where are they? Do they fall closer to the pack without the difference maker there? So I do look for the Raiders to make a move and be in the playoffs again and we'll see how far they can go. All right, one last one for you before I send you into your rest of your day. The one last, what would you do, Kurt Warner, if you, again, you've grinded the tape on these kids. You haven't really met them face to face interview style, right for half an hour or for a full day, like some of these teams have, but just seeing the tape and seeing what they might be able to do, would you rather draft one of these kids and have the four or maybe 5 years of contractual control with them or go and acquire a Baker Mayfield with that chip on his shoulder and one year deal left and maybe see if he's the guy. What would you rather do? Kurt. You know, I think it depends on your team. Because I think we've seen enough of baker to know what baker strengths are. And I do believe with the right team around him that baker can make difference making throws. It can be a good quarterback in this league. I'm not sure he's a championship quarterback. And I'm not sure he's a quarterback that can carry you. So again, depending on the dynamic of your team, I do believe there's probably some upside of baker that most of these quarterbacks in the drafts draft don't have. But we've got a book on it. And we kind of know what his limitations are in my opinion. So if that doesn't fit what you're trying or maybe just the bottom line is, I don't know if he's a championship quarterback. So if I'm asking that question, maybe I'm probably telling you, I'm going to try one of these other guys. I'm going to see if they've got the makeup to be a championship quarterback if I don't believe baker is that guy. And I haven't seen that yet. Good quarterback can be a starter in this league, but I don't believe he's a championship quarterback at this stage in his career. And that's what I want if I'm going to get a guy. So I guess I'm probably telling you, I would probably be draft one of these guys if I felt like my team was in a place to compete for a championship or whatever. So it is related to the situation, I guess I have to say, but I would probably go draft a guy before I would extend something on baker and have to pay him that starter's money that he's going to get. Kurt, thanks for the time. I don't know if you saw some of these mock drafts out there have no quarterbacks taken in the first round. So if that happens two weeks from tonight, do you have tickets to the blue man group instead or something like that? Don't do that to me. I mean, Ryan and tabe I'm watching the top 50, but you know I only want to talk about these quarterbacks. No, you don't. You want to talk about more than that, Kurt. That's just assume all 5 are going to go in the first round. So I've got some excitement going in. I know you can get a long night if that happens. No, I get a dinner reservation in your back pocket. Just in case, like around 25th overall, we don't see any quarterbacks taken. You're just like, where's Kurt? Well, he's already at dinner. Yeah. This tickets, I mean, Vegas isn't going to stop for the draft. Vegas stops for no man. Okay. All right, brother. I will be there, and I'm hoping we get at least a few. Take care, Kurt. You're the best. Kurt Warner everybody right here on the richest show. I'll tell you this right now. Kurt would rather, he wants to talk about all the draft choices. And if there's no quarterbacks taken and he's not on the air, that'll be fun. I'll have fun sitting there on the draft set, just kind of depressing. Where's Kurt? He's Carter right? But it sounds like he would take pick at 6th overall. And if the Panthers are of that mindset and you think Pickett is good enough, be 6th overall and the Panthers and you feel the same way about Kenny Pickett, that is what we would say in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the New York football giants, jackpot. That's it in 21. That's hitting me 21. That is 7. That's all of it, baby. That's it. That's it. That's your number hitting on roulette. That's it. Bonus. Somebody's out there loves Kenny Pickett is afraid that the Panthers equally love him and we're gonna go get them. And that gives the Giants more draft capital on Thursday night two weeks from now and maybe even next year. Certainly, if Daniel Jones isn't the guy and you know that and you've made your evaluation, you have two picks in next year's draft and maybe you go get somebody? Oh baby, that's exactly what the Giants want. Tasty. And that's what you'd want to, Chris, because then you, sir, that would be jackpot for you. Yeah. That would make Kenny pick at a top 5 quarterback at the end of the day. Crisp Andrew Jackson in my pocket. That's what's on the line here. 20 bucks? I think it was a hundred. I was really? In case just upping this. Because he still thinks he's going to win. What happens? What is it? Can we get out there? I have to review the tape rich. I'm not quite sure. It was the duke brothers times 20 or 100. What is it? Well, my normal bed is just a dollar, but I think this was 20 bucks. All right, Randolph. There you go. Rich, after the break. Yes. Breaking wide receiver news. Okay, let's do it. Let's do it. Let's take a break right now. What do you want out of CD? He said news. Maybe if he said it's breaking wide receiver news and it's about CD lambda. That would be a bad situation. It could be an NFT deal or CD just signed with king Jordan. It could be anything. He wants a new segment. What's up with CD lamb? That's what's up. Honestly. That is not what's up. I just wondered the guys. Okay. All right, let's take a break here on the rich eisen show. Your phone calls. And a new segment coming up. 8 four four two O four rich, never to dial. Here on the rich eisen show, Richard and Tucson, Arizona. What's up, Richard? Hey, rich, thanks for taking my call. I'm really, really happy about your position. With preventing us from seeing a possible perfect gain. I've been a Diamondback fan since they came into Arizona. And I had the very good fortune of watching a lot of Randy Johnson games. I was there when he threw 20 strikeouts against Cincinnati. The best memory I have is we need to a perfect game against Atlanta and I had to I was working out in the gym. They didn't have a monitor, so I got to listen on the radio. "Andy, you've got another film out. This is particularly exciting. I don't know where to start, except to say welcome to the program. Eric, it's good to be with you, man. And I tried to get my delinquent brother to come along, but he doesn't listen to me anymore. I know. You know what? He's dead to all of us. Alban, just for ease on that list now, no more enough. Enough is enough. Look, you guys are famous for having done many, many films, but there's something about this new film that I found particularly exciting and usually what I would do is just sum it up and not give an opportunity to talk. But I'm trying to change. So tell my audience, what is this film? Really, this is so exciting. I'm just tempted to tell my audience about this film and when it first of all when it opens. Yeah, man, I can listen to you talk all day long Eric. So you can wax eloquent anytime. Thank you. But yeah, American underdog. The Kurt Warner story. And you know, my brother and I started out at sports camera and back in the day. And so I remember being on the sidelines of the Super Bowl in 2002 watching Kurt Warner on the field and there was just something so amazing about his story. You know, this guy that was, you know, went from being working in a supermarket trying to support his family out of football for 5 years. And then finally got his chance to play for the rams and made it all the way to the Super Bowl and ended up being the MVP of the NFL in the year. He was the lowest paid athlete in the NFL. And so it's just, I mean, it is the underdog story of all underdog stories, amazing story about family. And it opens on Christmas.

Go forward i Think that So three years ago pets mahomes as the second year quarterback ahead of the great year and he was the mvp and then it was lamar jackson directly. Mvp that we had a year off with their rogers. 'cause he was amazing. But what about justin herbert. This year i think and bp season what do you think brockman look a place where Moe green does not have a placker assigned post or a name and see. What just herbert's wolf right. Now time. i loved for most valuable player ambon. Well that'd be great for our fantasy team. Because we chose herbert and keenan allen and if he's gonna win if he's gonna win. Mvp that's the look just an average sixteen to one deal for justin. Herbert win the mvp. Obviously you know he's gonna have to have a season similar to the ones that you mentioned is the second year quarterbacks who have done it so there's there is precedence in good point. Thanks call appreciate it. But they're going to have to win twelve games out seventeen they're gonna they're gonna be twelve and five team in evolve and fight a minimum minimum. Just light it up. New orleans is is one of those teams. That could possibly be the. And i'm calling it right now. I believe that the new orleans thanks with janus winston under the new office of production in the way that the coach is going Sean payton will be playing in the nfc championship alone. Okay wow is that you get that at the barbershop. So you said yeah. Actually we were having a discussion on. Who will do better between That prescott and dallas cowboys versus versus the saints and i. Could that be possible. Every single game every single play call every single audible every single out. We'll be tinged with that story line. What will rogers do eventually being informed with what he's doing at the moment. Meanwhile who's got the best chance to dethrone them in the nfc north. "Not that i'm a huge nba fan but You know watching the finals and as you said bridges and eight and coming into his own where i remember a couple years ago people going. Oh man he's a boston. And why did they pick him where they did. And now he's settled in with that leadership of chris so it was just it's fun to see and it's reminiscent a little bit of of our run and i think a lot of championship teams. You have those different pieces and as you mentioned this team has the pieces a lotta great role players playing their part with a couple of great leaders and and great players spearheading this thing and it's just it's been fun fun to watch the way they carry themselves in humility by which they play and it just it's fun and i really hope that they can finish this thing off and it's an excellent analogy there. Kurt where you're you were. The the older guy coming in in arizona and leading championship. Ron and chris paul doing the same thing here in you being An excellent basketball player in your own mind. Do you equate your game with chris. Pas as well. Kurt like you say that in my own mind. Yeah i like to think i'm a good basketball player and other people's minds to but you're right in my mind No no nothing like chris paul. When i played back when i played football i pass the ball a lot. Okay i play basketball. I shoot the ball a lot okay. I'm more like the booker Y you know. Pick up basketball games at the house. So unfortunately i can't i can't say i deliver and i'm dropping dimes from that standpoint. Completely different from. Chris fall when i played well. And plus you broke your face. Playing basketball like devon booker right. That's another i did that. I feel like if you remember well in the middle of the nfl season a couple of years. I did break my job plane. So you're more booker. That's a good point. You're more book you booker. And paul i play with my face. Kurt warner here on the rich eisen show. i guess what. what do you think. 'cause i was watching larry call the action on the match d. Do you think he's done. I want you to speak for him. Nobody does but what do you think. Do you glean anything from those conversations at all. You know i mean. We don't talk a lot about that. We have talked about it over the years. And i always got the sense that You know he was one season away that you know. He could've retired at any point in time as long as he felt like he could contributes to a team as long as he felt like the team had a chance to be successful And you know. He'd liked his role on the team that as long as he was healthy. He keeps coming back now. I really thought this was going to be it for him But i think the longer this thing plays out the more. I kind of think to myself. I think he might come back. You know. i'm i'm really surprised. We haven't heard anything at this point with training camps a month away or whatever and to me it just kind of lends itself to to him coming back but the one thing i will say about about fits is. He's never wanted to make anything about him. And so i wouldn't be surprised you know as they get right to training camp and there's buzz around the league of all this other stuff that maybe he announces that then so we could just kind of slide under the radar and it's not you know it's not worldwide news and again obviously. It still will be hilarious. Gerald retires but you know what i'm saying is that right. He's not on the front page and he's not the only story. Because that's never been. Who larry fitzgerald is that he might just try to slide it in You know at the last minute where they can't make a big to do about it but Yeah i just to me. It feels like i think they've built some things they you know put. Jj watt and jay green and rodney hudson and added some great veterans to the young talent that they have that you just feel like this could be a year that you know. The cardinals kind of turned the table. A little bit and get to the play offs and who knows make another run. And and i know he desperately Wants to do that. He desperately wants another opportunity at a championship. So think how he feels about this team and where they're at You know could go along way and deciding he tells retirement or does another year. Few minutes left with kurt warner here on the rich eisen show and also on the match you saw iron rogers just play out of his skull place in some excellent golfing leading into that. He was talking about how he's worked on his mental Approach in his mental calmness in removing negativity from his life. And i thought my man he he was doing that last year was the mvp and now he's even got more of potentially zen qualities coming in. We got to see him play. I wonder how you honestly got to see him play. I wonder what you think now that you know. We are a couple of weeks from training camp remove. What you think is is going on there will happen. I mean i've always said that. I just i believe he will play in a packer. Is that i just. If you're the packer. I don't know if you can let it play out any other way. I've got to see him. Not play before i'm gonna think about making any moves to let him out the door. I mean he's just two special of a player he means too much. He makes your team so much better And just the leadership that he brings and as you said the communist that he brings me you talk about where he's at now. I've always thought he's handled himself extremely well. In terms of being able to handle whatever comes his way and not getting too excited about it. I mean we all remember the the relaxed and all of those things that he's always handled himself that way. Really really well. And i believe you'll do that again this year. Even though it's been kind of a crazy off season. I think he'll come back and battle with his guys Unless they trade him. And i think he will be playing it. I mean it just to me. It just makes sense and maybe i'm just being an optimist because i'm a huge fan of of the league and what he brings to the table and how he makes league better and I'm hopeful that he doesn't go somewhere else and then he stays in the back of all right before. I let you go kurt. I saw your instagram feed. And your twitter feed. Because i follow. You occurred on a friend a colleague And the photographs that you tweet it out in. "Goodness it. Game story man. What a story. That's kurt warner is about to join us. We're back here with our radio audience joining us right here. Eight four four two zero four rich being the number to dial. We'll take your phone calls later on this hour. Paul scheer the actor from black monday. He will join us in our number three. Kevin clark of the ringer A couple of things happened last night outside of the basketball world. Kind of left out us including Move over otani you not the only home run hitting pitcher in major league baseball. What a moment last night in san diego. We'll hit on that latest padres grand slam. That really is what baseball's all about. How washington nationals fans might disagree but That's coming up later on this show for the moment. Though is our next guest on. The phone is joining us right now. His phoenix suns his phoenix suns. This is a man who wants came so close to bringing a lombardi trophy to the valley of the sun. As a matter of fact he's closest they ever came was thanks to his right arm and larry fitzgerald hands and legs in the rest of the team. My compadres from nfl game day morning and westwood. One radio kurt warner here on the football Program known as the rich eisen show for the moment. How are you kurt. what's going on brother. I am doing good man. I'm excited to have you as part of a new team of westwood one month rent broad going to be going to be a great year. Can't wait to get things started. It's good times coming up. So let's let's let's hit Right off the bat here. What what would a championship. And the national. Basketball association mean to phoenix arizona. Writ large kurt. What do you have for me on that front. Maybe it's the biggest thing is you realize as you kinda go through this and when i was playing is that anytime you make a run for championship It's about an entire community. It's not just about the team in the organization. It's about that community coming with you and it's been a long time since the sons have been in this position and competing for championship. And you know really just across the valley. It's been a long time You know waiting for their teams to get to this point And so it. It's fun to watch the city. Getting excited You know my son in law was raised here. And he's been you know diehard suns fan for thirty plus years and you're starting to see that excitement from all these people that have been son stands forever And now sitting here at two now and everybody's of feeling a little bit obviously the long way to go the final. You still got a win for. Yes but there is a lot of buzz and excitement instability. And that's what it's all about is bringing that whole entire community. And you know i saw when i was playing unbelievable community the way they support their players and their teams and so it would be awesome for For the sons to bring a championship back here. I was actually texting. Larry fitzgerald last night. Who's you know minority owner with the team. And i told him i said the only problem i have is that i don't want your first ring to be from an nba bath and not an nfl football field so that was my only regret about it but you know a big part of the team and a big part of you know helping turn things around in the excitement around the evening so i'm excited for him in the entire teams. How did larry respond to that texture. Can you give me that. He didn't he didn't really say anything to that. I feel the same way as excited as he would be to to be a part of that championship. There's no doubt that he would. He would rather get the one. That's old enough to lombardi and on a football field. You know sooner. I bet i bet and just you know we because we started the show talking about kurt. You know how this team is just hitting its stride. It gets better. You know like they're getting better that that's and that's why there is a a sense of inevitability even though there are two games to go they're getting better. You know. bridges had a career high. You you see both cameron's performing better you're seeing crowder seeing eight and then. Obviously paul and booker with monty williams. We played a sound bite at the top of the show to of how he was coaching. Eight in the huddle. I love monty williams. I just love. i'll say this kurt i. He reminds me of dungy. The way that he comports himself and it isn't the loudest guy in the room but what he says lands like he's yelling. You know what i'm saying. He's got that audie and you know that he's been through some stuff as well. So i i think everybody has gravitated to his personality. Not just on the team but in the community. And i think really around the league and are pulling for you know this man that's Has been through a bunch in a tremendous leader in the way that he carries himself and the reason that he does what he does. And you could tell that he cares Not just about winning a championship. But he cares about about these young men and helping them be the best and so unbelievable leadership from that standpoint. You know even checks leary again last night. It's just. The team reminds me to some degree of our team back in. Oa you know. Kind of the old leader at the helm You know interest paul. Who's kind of come in and settled down all these these young pieces but then there's so many young superstar surrounding him but he seemed to be glue and the leader that brought everything together and it kind of reminded me of our team and as the old guy came in and kinda leading in settling down the charge when we get to the playoffs young talent. That's really separating them and starting to find out about some of these guys that you know to me were household names..

Learning How to Lead with Ryan Hawk

"Ryan hawk on dose of leadership man. I'm excited that you're here. Welcome the show my friend. I appreciate it. Thanks for having me rich You know we've been connected the lincoln and obviously had known about your show for a long time so similar past but always wanted to have you on this show talked. Nfl leadership junkie so man. I'm glad you're here. Like i said thanks for having me it I was read about. Your story is pretty wild especially with everything. Going on as a pilot and september eleventh man. I was I was like wow. This is going to be interesting. Yeah no it's it's it's been a journey but it so i'm curious i i would bet that are past. They're similar in the sense. That if i understand correctly football was kind your dream as you were growing up and then going through college and then you played somewhat professionally as well right and then. How did that in. I don't quite know the story how that ended. Why did the football come to an end. Eventually they tell you you're not gonna Like most guys they re. The sport retires you tire from. And so i played after college. I played for a few years in the arena. Football league briefly went up to canada. And cfl you know handful of workouts in the nfl and then they they say Yeah you're you're you're okay. But not good enough to To make it to the upper echelon of the sport and the nfl where you can actually earn a living and the really gripe played. It's essentially like playing minor league baseball right. You do you do it for the opportunity to keep playing into potentially catch. Someone's eye so that you could maybe have the story like kurt warner right. Kerr played in the arena. League gets gets a workout. He impresses he gets a job. The starter gets hurt and all the rest is history is now in the hall of fame. So i think that's why you do it you you and that's why i did it for a few years and I love those great experience. I mean you. Don't you can only do that when you're still in the prime of your athletic life and and so i'm glad i did it even though it delayed a little bit of my professional career but I i definitely don't regret. Yeah with so when you found it came to an end was it. Was it something you kind of always knew is going to happen you prepared for you said you know what i'm going to play ride this out as long as i can and then i'm going to start some sort of professional career and business or something that always in the back of your mind or was it like with me. I always thought. I was going to be a pilot and west when nine eleven happened and i got thrust in the corporate arena was a little bit of panic. Initially but How was it for you. Well i you know. I think kids. Are i talk with high school and college kids now. They're just so much smarter and better intentions than i did. When i was in college I didn't even really think about not playing football right And and so That could you know. I had friends who were really good about Building relationships creating connections setting themselves up for for life after college. I just wasn't one of those people. I i was immature like a lot of twenty two year olds and so i didn't have any thought of not playing I just happened to get really lucky. I am a family friend. Decided to take a chance on me and hire me into a sales job and And then just said hey just kind of use the same type of work ethic you learn as a player but now do this year for this job and if you do I have a hunch that things will go well. his name's rex. Goswell still a great friend to this day and just i'm just lucky. I had a person who is willing to take a shot. And then i as i try to do. I like to prove people right When they believe in fortunately it kind of my career went from there man. What a blessing to have that person kind of in your corner to kind of steer you. They saw something in you right. Which i think is an obligation of all this leaders right. Great leaders kinda see something that we don't even seen ourselves ripe and they help extract that out of you. That's great and then as i suppose you started working and that's when it was a lexus nexus nexus right and so you're in this sales position in this professional role like with me that's when it became. I started getting these moments of clarity of like. Oh where i came from. In my case it was the marine corps and flying planes in my mindset was limited. When i first started in thinking all i know how to do sleigh airplanes and but then as i got into the corporate arena i started saying oh i did learn a lot more than just flying airplanes. I'm assuming the probably same happen you with your football experience in in the great coaches and mentors you surrounded yourself around most of your life. I learned i learned how to develop a work ethic. I learned resilience. I learned preparation. I learned being coach -able. I learned how to collaborate with others. i got to college. I was on a much more diverse team people from wide variety of backgrounds. And i played a in the arena league down in birmingham so completely different from where. I'm from here in ohio and so i would say i think i learned about people. I learned a lot about myself. Learn about how to work. I learned how to do extra. I learned all that from my coaches from playing sports. And so i. I just tried to take that into the professional world and i liked the profession of selling because the people who were landing at the top of the stack rankings. The people who were making the most money the people who are getting promoted. They were the ones who were working the hardest. I don't have any experience. But i do think i could work And so i i. I was willing and still. I'm willing to to to work really hard at it. And then Eventually led to me. You know having some success in doing well exceeding the goals accompany set for me and then that led to promotions and more opportunities. And so i think that's that i direct all of that back to a combination of two things. One my family. My parents my brothers as well as My coaches who really taught me how to out of work once. I want for my eighth grade to ninth grade year.

All the important questions as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson go head to head in The Match

"He had a dinner with Tony Romo. And that was Tigers. Pro-am partnered Pebble Beach back in two thousand twelve and he went to dinner with Tony Romo just to bother. Tiger woods. So Phil said that you know, Tigers partner was Tony Romo and that night before the final round Saturday was big dinner. The Jim Nance put on I got seated next to Tony. We had a great night had a lot of fun. But I knew it would bother tiger that I had dinner with his partner. Tony knew this would also bother him. So he said, it was caddy do not mention that we had dinner last. Knight. Phil don't bring up the dinner. We're on the I t I IT off tiger tees off. I wait before I walk off because I want to distance myself between me and Tony. So I could say it loud enough. So as we're walking off the first TI yell out. Hey, Tony, Tony that was so much fun. Last night. I loved the dinner that was the greatest and tiger looks at him and said, you know, giving that look like that was a big deal Mickelson called her a moment that he laughs with tiger about now. But at the time, it was pretty intense. Mickelson ended up winning. But isn't that what we're all hoping for this weekend at the matches that one of them goes a little real in jab like UFA, like when I want a guy puts one in the weeds and just has a little Ouch. Just enough to. Okay, now, it's real, and it's a real competition because that's what ever wants. I hope we have some of that. Because tiger never let you in. It's rare when he let you in. But if he does then I'd love to hear the sense of humor, see the sense of humor or just to see a subtle dig their or the gamesmanship that goes on in what you would think they would be really wanting to say like if you had thought bubbles this time. You don't have thought bubbles. You just actually had their thoughts. That's what would be great Friday after thanksgiving.

Patriots, Tom Brady and Kansas City discussed on Get Up!

"Will be the fifty sixth straight game in which Tom Brady is a favourite that breaks the previous record for a quarterback who's record you'd think he broke. Steve, you know, it's interesting. The answer is Kurt Warner that Grady on turf, oh, what was favored in fifty five straight games from ninety nine to two thousand three nice and this offense that is coming into play New England on Sunday night one that a lot of people are comparing to that greatest show on turf in Kansas City. So as we look ahead to what is one of the really good games this weekend, maybe the best game this weekend, Kansas City at New England on Sunday night. Do you think we will learn more that in that game about just how good these chiefs are more just how good this year's patriots are. I'm gonna say we're going to learn more about the chief simply because of this. The patriots have been in many of these big gains before they know how to play in these types of games. And if they came out and put on one of their best performances offense in terms of controlling the clock, spreading the field horizontally vertically scored a bunch of points defensively. They came out and fundamentally without a way to slow down the chiefs offense. No one would be shocked. People will say that's Bill. That's Tom. That's what they've done for. The past thousand years, that's just what they do.
