"Oh my God it's beto o'rourke It was He really is a good guy his speech was fantastic And I think he's definitely realizing who is constituents are in Texas where he needs to put his time He didn't just show up and speak He was there from the beginning He took pictures with everyone I mean there were lines And he stayed through the dinner He's a good man Texas would be lucky to have him Yeah well we were saying in the wake of just the today Excuse me yesterday Dana These two stunts that Abbott pulled Busting migrants to Washington D.C. to Fox headquarters for a stupid publicity stunt And then blocking these trucks at the border for miles and miles and miles to drive up costs and disrupt the supply chain further to hurt Joe Biden and Democrats Absolutely And the people of Texas saw right through it and especially those truckers that are like hey you're messing up Our jobs now And you're costing the taxpayers of Texas A lot of money because they're going to have to pay a lot more money for produce things are getting rotten They're rotting in the trucks We can't get through And he was like oh lift lift the barricades Yeah yeah I was saying that all morning that I can't believe that people of Texas want to be governed by publicity stunts that is Chris pointed out Cost them money Yes Exactly I mean the fixing their power grid really Okay What is your sense on the ground there I mean Napoleon is like dead even isn't it I know that if we can get people out to vote it's like any other situation The Texas is not a red state It's a gerrymandered state It's a voter suppressed state Thank you So they said about Georgia out to the polls exactly Then we can win I mean this is a statewide race for governor This is not a congressional race where the maps are drawn If we can get people out to the vote out to the polls we have more people voting blue in Texas than red and beto will win but we have to give people there That's it Marty in Michigan you're on with Dana hey Marty Hello Marty Hi On your show Thank you In contrast to the terrible media coverage of Biden which I love how you always exposed I'd like to argue that history will record Joe Biden as one of the greatest U.S. presidents My great If you'll allow I'd like to briefly make that case Yep go ahead With the exception of Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt no president has ever faced greater challenges And no president in history has ever faced a large number of variety of crises in such a short period of time When Biden took off the seat faced the worst health pandemic in a hundred years as well as the worst economic recession since The Great Depression And you forget that he also faced an absolutely unprecedented situation of the prior president attempting a coup and refusing to concede transition of power No president history is facing We keep saying Civil War Spanish flu and The Great Depression that's what he inherited pretty much And look at the great chap he's done He took off with only 2% of the public and his vaccinated and over 3000 people a day were dying of COVID And just a year got 70% vaccinated and nobody who's unvaccinated is other than their own choice Yep There's totally available free vaccines And I'm the resistance He took office at 6.8% unemployment and rising And he's in one year he headed out all time record of 7.4 million jobs Unemployment rate down to 3.5% I mean that has been absolutely phenomenal in handling these cases And I think history records that Yep You know what that is called Dana that is called bowler ting and we all have to we are all Eric now So thank you You're the smartest boring class this morning We do we can't count on the mainstream media data We're going to have to do it ourselves You're going to have to a 100% And the bottom line is as we know history Republicans wreck it Democrats try and fix it And oftentimes there's so much to fix that the media makes it look like it's not happening fast enough But this is a pattern This is a pattern in our country And this is why we are where we are Biden can only do so much in the country still seems like it's a little bit of a mess because when you're doing 5 steps back and three steps forward and then the Republicans get powered by cheating you get 5 steps back again And rather than Democrats being scared of these culture war issues data I mean the fact that we're still out here fighting for gay rights in 2022 they're trying to take us backwards on women women's rights gay rights trans rights the American people are on our side on these issues We Democrats need to get louder This crap that you know the 50% of Republicans believe that Democrats are pedophiles based on all these QAnon in this crap that's being pushed and Democrats aren't doing anything I mean we've got to get on the offensive enough is enough We can't just sit back and go well that's not true And we know we know the we are going to take the high ground We know it's true Get loud Get messaging You got to do something for the midterms Or this is going to be a bloodbath Yeah you want a great exchange on Twitter about trans these trans bills And I don't know if you can tell us what it is I don't have it in front of me but that someone was talking about just basically not changing yourself And you made a lot of great points You're like your hair used to be blond Now you don't Yeah Kristin Kristen got on Twitter and she said if God made you a male that's not a mistake and if God made you a female that's not a mistake saying any different is insulting a perfect creator So Kristen's feed came across mine and I was like oh okay Kristen God made you a brunette yet You're now a blond God gave you bad vision so you fix it with glasses God gave you crooked teeth so you straighten them with braces Trans people change the outside to match the inside just like you do Kristen Please sit down Jesus said to Yes It was great That was great But you know what I have to say that is the best explanation I've heard about trans people They're fixing their fixing something to match the inside I would say changing if I may Stephanie because there's nothing broken about trans people I just really mean but just the way you explained it that they're just matching what's on the inside And I think that's a beautiful explanation And all the other things Women add and take away breasts all the time But no one says anything When I say women cis born women add in takeaway breast for whatever reason they want But if someone that is considered a man in our society who's actually a trans woman does it oh my God there's no difference You don't get to pick and choose Yeah Chris just did this to us which I think might be a lesbian thing but also means I should break it Okay Well whatever It's a bump Yep 22 minutes after the hour Wow Well you know what back at you This portion of the Stephanie Miller show brought to you by my cozy sheets and pajamas Right Yeah Softest softest softest I'm sure co zeroth has seen a little bit of that.

"Wait really quick I just before you get into this. Yeah. Is that is this the at might being pranked at any point in this episode? No point at no point have a prank to you I just in the spirit of October I felt like why not revisit one of our classic moments? One of the things that you will that like people will see with this list is that it is pretty reactionary and I think because David Bowie died recently, he was able to maintain. Only Aladdin Sane dropped off from the previous tube but all the other ones stayed on save for like a greatest hits that was on the list and scary monsters. It's on the first two. There's still greatest hits on their a lot of greatest. Yeah. I mean I think the idea. That greatest hits of all the artists on their Tom. Greatest hits Banger for Bangor album. Yeah. Exactly. What's what is it called? What's his greatest? HOW CHANGES ONE? I'm thinking I. thought my parents had it but aerosmith big ones yes. which is I believe there's a sumo wrestler on the cover that album get it because. And I. Think I thought it was oh. Maybe is what's the aerosmith cover that has the other its grip you're getting kill me very funny and now I'm thinking of honking on Bo-bo. Arrowsmith. aerosmith rocks is still on the list and has been on every iteration but toys in the attic out of there you're gone toys in the. I mean if you're gonNA give. Toys in the attic for an aerosmith album. Very good. Got The. It's the big ones on it. Hey, yeah I mean both of those albums I do think are good. They were early aerosmith that's like the if you're going to listen Aerosmith, that is what you're going to listen to. But let me give you some of the artists that have made the list for the very first time. and there's a lot Kendrick Lamar beyond say Kate Bush Pitch Branko. At City I'm sorry I have a cup all Hendrick Lamar's albums medalist. So they did so butter science on their Kristin Kristin. Kristen's yes. Try to guess. Where to pimp a butterfly is on the list because you you're you're good on the former lists. Let's see how you do on the newest I. Mean, I have no way. The only thing I know is that now that arcade fire. That's my only. Our Hint Joe. Rated yet. So no has yet. Okay. Fully there's one I know that's burned in my brain I, mean WanNa try to pimp a butterfly good kid mad city and damned they are all on the list all three all three Kendrick Lamar albums on the list now what? I think critically. Now I think that the order that they're in is I think the highest is the lowest like the close I'm GonNa say highest meaning like Lowe's Berg closest to the. Top. But also, the bottom was A. Numerical. System. Is going to be dependent butterfly, and then in the middle, it'll be good kid mad city and Van Damme will be cleaner. Correct. Now, knowing what I know, which is that they're trying to be like he is a critical darling he is. That is a critically acclaimed album and he's kind of like I think Kendrick is the is the rapper who can straddle both having actual street cried and the respect of the black community while also being a fucking white critics Darling A. She didn't sell out but like white critics were like, yeah he's the one guy. We're. We like him. All right. So give me an idea I think he make it to the top one, hundred I do. This is a wild guest. To Pin. A butterfly comes in at number. We go. All right. How Eighteen is just. Can I say my calibration number yeah please. That might help you Chris. Chris. Take care by drake is in the nineties top one. Yeah it it's high. It's one hundred albums better than the wall which I love I. Think it's so funny because I think the wall sucks and I, also think Drake Kinda sucks but that's so funny to me. To pippa butterfly is the highest ranking album that had not been on any prior Louis that makes sense. Other albums in the top twenty that like jumped pretty high miseducation of lauryn Hill had been at three fourteen. It is now at number ten oh. Yes. That's great. That's a that's a really. That's great. Does missy Elliott having the albums on here? Yes. So super duper fly. Oh, that's the first one what else is on that. So I to me the rain. Yeah. Super duper. Yes. Satellite. Is Coming in. Christian is that the only album occurs? That's on there. Yes that's so interesting I. Guess that's like critical darling and that's not as good as take care by drake so I mean after consensus. L. Mike you can't beat being in a world. Okay. Well, I think that's going to be like one, fifty two technically, it is to places higher than take care by drake it's at. Ninety three. Okay. That's pretty good. Let's go through some of the some of the top top just like because we have a new number one kristen, we give it a new number one can ask I heard you say that beyond says, I just want to do a little more calibration with like Conrad, black artists that we're learning about. How many beyond albums are on there? I think South titles, I think lemonade. And that's it. Okay. Good. I mean those are great. Okay and I think lemonade is higher than self titled. And I think lemonade is in the top hundred. I. Think Lemonade is what? Twenty five or something like that. And then I bet the self titled is in the early hundreds. I bet it maybe that's one eighteen. Or did they pop? It got some of the wreck you got. You got some of the right numbers eighty, one, eighty one okay. Yeah. Great. I mean. Better than drafts take. CARE. Okay Wow. Okay. Now, this is all starting to kind of come together. It's really throwing off my system I know. There are schiff all over the place my beautiful dark twisted fantasy which was at three fifty three is now at seventeen seventy seventeen I was like seven date seventeen is that the highest conyers albums? Yes. Is that his only album or? The from college dropout to eases on there. So is there..

Kendrick Lamar Aerosmith David Bowie Chris Hendrick Lamar Kristin Kristin Van Damme missy Elliott lauryn Hill Kristen Darling A. conyers Kate Bush kristen Louis Lowe L. Mike Conrad Berg

"Anything great very happy about it I'm also happy that I think people will start to realize more more that this has nothing to do with data and nothing number is just politics and how much pressure they got because there's no data that decided that they should open this and there's no numbers is just they got some pressures that they open though he says there is he says it was a data driven yeah that's what he says he hung up no okay he said what he had to say that's it that's it's like a drive by call in Veronese Brunswick here on New Jersey one one point five hi how are you I have a son who's graduating from the front check high school he's scheduled to walk three weeks from tomorrow so that's scheduled to walk so their graduation is June seventeenth but it's going to be virtual right now and they were going to make a decision come June first well now with this I'm assuming you would be fine if they cancel the virtual and hold it in July I'm assuming absolutely yeah that would be whatever I will have it laughs yeah yep that's exactly it is about maybe six hundred of his friend and fellow graduating so I would love to be there that Monday wherever they're planning to hold it because they have the Middlesex County fair here so we have those ground on the gate for the server you know all the students as well as from their parents right the one and a half that you mentioned how if if you want to give his name you can you don't have to if you're his name is often crave out and we want to give them a shout out to my first and only child welcome to teach and to wish him well at record and as well as all the trends that are going on into your next journey in life that's the that's so nice exciting time it is I dear thanks for your call that is awesome yeah we're we're not only asking you how you feel about the announcement today by the governor that in person graduations as long as they're outdoors can start happening on July six how do you feel about that is the right move but also if you would like to give a shout out to a graduate but you know a graduate in your family you may absolutely do that one eight hundred two eight three one a one point five I'm interested in seeing the logistics and she mentioned a six hundred person class social distancing you got to split it up Daria does that does that diminish it all yeah I don't know I mean yeah you know they're gonna be friends who want to be there together that in some cases will be they'll be in the same group in some cases won't be but still I guess is better than nothing I do wonder to and it's going to depend I guess on you know school to school you know if you have a small school it's only like a hundred and twenty graduates did you're going to be able to increase the guests per room that's all going to come out of the state guidelines but yeah it's gonna be interesting south of Cisco each place is going to play out in there already some I think it was wild wood I read yeah here you go this is from NJ dot com some schools wasted no time in scheduling the graduation ceremonies Wildwood high school announced it was holding its ceremony July seventh at Maxwell field less than one hour after Murphy revealed is the said they were ready to go we're ready that I guess they have a contingency plan they did right now I don't know if they are the only one but if you've already heard something I mean you can feel free to share that one eight hundred two eight three one a one point five Kristen in Aberdeen you run New Jersey won a one point five Hey Kristin Kristen in Aberdeen because one of her yes hi welcome thank you how are you guys okay you're busy celebrating once you're yes I'm very happy I have a job a high school graduate so the prospect of her having alive graduation and very exciting yeah I'm hoping that they they have a they have a lot of pretty good virtual plan set up that they have in place but I'm hoping that they revisit and can do something that's a live what's your what's your daughter's name my daughter's name is Caitlyn our and she will be going to fend Marienburg that the next stop and one high school she's a graduating from Madeleine Madeleine high school now yeah where she was she among the kids that were really devastated about this whole thing she kind of taking it all in stride she's pretty good she has been taking this whole thing in stride but it's it's difficult it's it's an exciting time for them that's kind of been stifled a little bit and ours you know she was graduating from the same high school that I did and it's just not to possibly have you know her has experienced the same thing that I did when I graduated so yeah it's exciting hopefully like a lot of parents is probably been bothering you more than it's been posturing her playing is it a big family like what if they say okay you're only gonna be allowed to have two guests that'll be awful thing that's the thing you know her father and I are divorced we have you know step parent and grandparents and it would be difficult to decide who would make the cut but it to me for her to have that experience would be the most important thing Sam yeah all right well congratulations yeah good job well done christen thank your call dawn in south Hampton you're in New Jersey one oh one point five eight on okay my son is a senior at Seneca high school in tabernacles Jersey and I wanna give a shout out to Jordan Cherokee and the rest of his class and when they told us that we would be doing our virtual graduation on June sixteenth they also say that we would do what life graduation if possible on July sixteenth yeah this already fits into the guidelines yeah yeah so hopefully I mean if we can do both that would be great but if we can only do one I'd rather do the live I haven't seen him do it make that walk oh god make that walk great man by the way Jordan Sherrick it just sounds like a something an actor or something alright really after actor okay what what do you mean I mean literally he now he's a good kid okay Hey don thanks for your call Jordan Chadwick yeah that sounds sounds pretty solid doesn't it everywhere like an NFL player or something it just doesn't sound like somebody's already famous I'm out all right we we want to know how do you feel when you heard the news today of course you know your if you don't have a graduate in your family is not gonna be that big of a thing but if you do and that announcement was made in person after graduations will be allowed beginning July sixth how good of a thing is this and if you wanna give a shout out to your grad one eight hundred two eight three one one point five four thirty time for the news New Jersey J. one one five dot com you've been talking about it Monday July sixth graduations will be allowed in New Jersey though there is yet to be more guidance coming tomorrow from the state on that it is possible schools left to spread their ceremonies are over several days or at least several different social distance events but at least graduations now need not be virtual you certainly at least heard the whispers over the weekend of a multi state investigation into an alleged double murder university of Connecticut senior Peter Manfredonia still sought after being accused of killing two men and I'm standing out of state the younger victims girlfriend she unharmed was found in the Patterson area Sunday unemployment is considered.

"On in Springfield a lot seems to be happening on this first day of their special sessions three days to get a ton of stuff done a lot on their plates and it's already making news Krista Macquarie is a Chicago Tribune royal page editor into Christmas thanks for calling hi thanks for having me Anna it is busy down another spelled all writing all my gosh I just started a one o'clock this is session I want to get all the important stuff down there but I have to get to something most important to you how would how would your kids graduation acting yet that happened the other day hello it was it was nice to me actually they're just kind of the school has been good about trying to honor the kids they could decide at the last minute that they also launched a live ceremony so don't underestimate eighth graders they want their moment on the stage so that will be happening at some point as I will I'm rooting for him I hope they can figure out a way to make it special because they feel form I really I really really do what he said were you hearing a Springfield personal do they wear the mask may not wear the mask and then I understand also governor Pritzker just reversed course on that idea about the fines for businesses that are not complying yeah he did he can still re introduce it but the but his health department did a poll his proposal his mandate actually that businesses who violated the order to to stay closed it would be a misdemeanor crime even Democrats I understand this morning were kind of griping about that that we can over reach of his executive authority so he he rescinded it with the option to reintroduce but it would have to then be passed by the legislature I don't see I don't see that happening so it's like victory for Republicans and kind of the re open the economy group who believe that that was that that was a stretch they do they are meeting in separate places so the Senate is meeting in the capital and the house is meeting at a convention center in Springfield so they can spread out and the speaker did institute a rule that you have to wear a mask yep get your temperature taken before you can go in that facility and some of the people who have been fighting his his orders including let Terry Bailey apparently did show up without a mask but he has won with him so we'll see what happens I don't anticipate there being any lawmakers dragged off the United the convention center but but you never know they they already have a March going down there to reopen the account of the folks trying to put pressure on the governor down in Springfield and and a confrontation between the house Republican leader Jim Durkin and someone in the crowd who was holding a sign that referenced Hitler and quicker and you have the Republican leader concerning the woman saying this is not appropriate so a lot of emotions down there so far yeah well good for them for sticking up say that's just not right I mean come on that we do you don't need that I mean there's just so many distractions and then that if you got the the other thing is that the mass thing I think is sort of distractions like okay just where the masses not worry about that because there's so many big things to worry about in our state right now in front center is that budget you're looking at a time of declining tax revenues and so much need and already we weren't exactly coming from a great position when it comes to budgeting and now you have this crisis in front of you I I just had how do you come to solutions in this environment question well the legislature is very good at putting things on paper at that make a budget looked balanced I expect that they will be spring so before may thirty first with some sort of piece of paper that makes the budget looked outlook balance a past last year's budget that was based on a higher gas tax on casino taxes you know research opened six new casinos horse racing facilities car license renewals selling the Thompson center finally so even last year they balance the budget on these anticipated revenues cost of revenues have all fallen into that into the ground so they're terrible hoping for federal money they are talking about passing perhaps like what's what's considered a stop gap budget which they did a couple times with governor Rauner where it's just something to get them through three months and then they will help for for federal money to come and rescue them on the governor's not talking about any cuts which is different from other governors even a democratic governor in Wisconsin issued across the board cuts to different state agencies Springfield does not like to take a time out of out of any budget that they propose so that's something that they have to pass before Monday or it takes a bigger majority to get it through ma'am I mean there's just so many so many decisions I mean I would imagine they've got to also look at the new things that need to be funded in this environment I don't can't even put a number on what that might be but in addition to the situation you're in what if the federal but fought federal money doesn't come they there's so many things on the table here what happens well I think they pass a very short term budget and they are counting on some federal help and I think you will see that Mitch McConnell in the Senate has said he will send some rescue money to the states he doesn't want to send pension help or rescue money to states like Illinois that got themselves into a lot of trouble before this happened by Springfield will find a way to kind of stretch a budget just to keep kind of keep the lights going keep the trains running on time and then probably have to come back over the summer and try to deal with maybe new revenues maybe day they do not figure out that casino tax issue for Chicago and try to get some more revenue coming in yeah because that's not even going to be discussing a determined this three date little special sessions and that's not is that is that even being considered the casino the mayor says yes lawmakers say no they're not too far apart but once you re open that bill that was a huge what they call Christmas tree fell because it had a little bit for everyone once you reopen that and do something special for Chicago you're going to see a south suburban folks the horse racing tracks everybody who had sort of an issue with it he'd be back at the table and it does complicate things she does have a good legislative liaison group in Springfield and she's not asking for a big sex but what they did pass for Chicago according to her with the tax structure so we won't sell it running it's important even attract a casino operator so if you can you know they talk all kinds of things out of the half of the last minute and spring so that's how they operate so even though they're on a shorter schedule this is always Memorial Day weekend where they get a budget landed on their desks sometimes you know an hour before the midnight deadline and survive by Friday is it Friday midnight is that when we're supposed to hear what's what's going on it's a Monday I mean Monday in the budget deadline they they sometimes go through the weekend but they have only scheduled Monday Thursday Friday I'm sorry Wednesday Thursday Friday of this week due to corona virus they don't want to be down there longer than they have to be so a lot of things will be off the table I mean they passed generally hundreds and hundreds of bills that deal with you know a swimming pool in Waukegan or a kiss district in Chicago all of that will be off the table and no religious deal with the budget coalbed nineteen money to help businesses and bones and then they're still talking about some sort of a mail in voting programs for November it's Kristin thanks for that that updates in log more to come I'm sure there's a lot to keep our eyes on down there is the these this will be very busy and unusually so maybe I don't know how this normally is wifi followed somewhat closely when they're big issues on the table but this time in particular there's a lot to get done there's a lot to get done and there's just a there's a lot of emotion because there's just a lot of disagreement over how the governor has handled that the re opening of the economy yeah how it is right I think yes thank you Kristin Kristen Macquarie Chicago Tribune editorial page editor she's on the editorial board they're gonna talk to chef art Smith coming up after the break I'm so excited he's calling back in he's got a cool program involving a Chicago and actually a live Instagram thing he's doing his restaurants re open opening he used to have a big one in Chicago but now he's got one in Florida he's returned to his home town and he's doing something pretty special there and he's lost seventy pounds I don't know how but he has it's the bottom of the hour let's get to the news and then chef art Smith.

"Make your own hand sanitizer just make sure it's sixty percent alcohol you can use to kill for that I don't know these are things you have to look these things up yourself and the okay so one of things we are being told apart from washing your hands from health officials is don't touch your face right so it doesn't come to skin it comes when you touch your face in your eyes your nose in your mouth that kind of thing another thing we're being told to stay home if you're sick right stay home don't infect others but easy for those of us to say who have paid sick days here's the problem what if you don't it's talking to a restaurant friend over the weekend sure he he works in the restaurant industry general manager of a suburban restaurant said you know what right now we're telling employees stay home you get paid time off and we're not gonna ask any questions because it's important you're touching food and that's important I don't know if it's industry standard I don't know and I know a lot of workers she was just talking about gig workers a lot of gig workers do not have paid sick leave do not have paid sick days so that it sort of feels and they tend to be on the lower end of the economic spectrum right so you're not making as much and you can't afford to buy groceries if you stay home or not I'm not advocating that not saying that's the right thing to do I'm just saying that that is happening if you've got a restrictive policy work if you feel like it's tough to take a day off for you don't get paid or just have thoughts on that let us know three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred because we'll be talking about that there is a new plan here in Chicago and this is this is great great news I think that the ride share drivers will now potentially be able to take paid sick leave there's a an attorney here locally from legal ride share and he is he's got a new plan that is taking place so that you can take advantage of that if you're a rideshare worker that's the important issue rights over to talk to him coming up on the show a couple local cancellations to relate to you I think you had one or two of these in the news I don't know did you get the Northwestern University they're canceling their international spring break trip yeah I saw that I did mention it in the news but so they just kind of put out the word Hey international travel for spring break is right around the corner let's just you know err on the side of caution nobody nobody goes on those types of trips and they put out a memo to faculty and staff so we preferred employees defer any nonessential international travels that's what they put up no university related travel to China Iran Italy and South Korea the impacted areas so that's out there and I did hear you say the McCormick place loses that second convention right the oracle show I think it's fifty five hundred people something like that is that a big deal I don't know if I've ever heard of the oracle shove sixty five hundred people coming that sounded like a lot there's one going on now pecan I think it was that we were talking about them a little bit yesterday and didn't get much press but the fact is that their attendance was way down the number vendors is a downside the show is pretty much because of he dramatically impacted by the whole thing yeah yeah it's it's so it'll be interesting to see what happens so that that's going on we also want to mention one of our favorite events here at WGN radio one of my favorite charities to the fight for air climb that has been canceled I heard about it in the elevator on the way home yesterday I thought now we see that is in Seoul should have been taking the stairs I was preparing for it I think that's what I should have been that's a great point excellent point Steve Kristen young is here she's the executive director of the American lung association in greater Chicago and Kristin I I'm sure you were feeling super bummed about this too is a great event raises an awful lot of money for the American lung association yeah thank you for having this morning certainly I I wish I was here dances but but our our our largest partner associated with the fight for air climb is presidential towers and they were really the the guiding force behind this decision and given that it is at a residential building they really have to think about the over twenty three hundred apartments and and people that are living there that the call presidential towers home so that's why the decision was made okay so yes it's inside it's inside a building it's kind of up to them in the building management and uhhuh you know as as the American lung association we really look to the CDC to the state health departments to really make these bigger decisions currently within the Chicago health department the Illinois state health department they they aren't they're not recommending cancelling mass gatherings at this time however of course at presidential tower's is is is our our building nobility can climb and and we want to make sure they're happy and certainly their their heads and hearts are in the right place and we and we fully support that but gosh just just really are our hearts go out to the thousands of people that have registered WGN has a huge team here that I've not only registered to climb that really put a lot of weight behind fundraising towards our mission tutu and lung disease what does that mean for fundraising if you don't have this event dispose the money raised still goes to the cause so that that's really the the bottom line here is that from a fundraising standpoint every dollar raised is gonna go eighty nine cents of every dollar we raise long association goes back to the mission education advocacy for a long disease I'm so nothing changes there and if anybody has specific questions as a a climber or donor they can certainly call our office directly at three one two seven eight one eleven hundred though it's a website to Kristin capital still want to donate or reduce that kind of thing knowing that you may not raise as much this year because of this cancellation right I appreciate that it's a fight for air climb Chicago dot org fight for air climb Chicago dot org has all the information about the event cancellation any faqs the people might have as a climber as a donor just to enter the general public that can be found on our website what about the claim is going to do what they can do some super fit and fun this this so instead of doing it well you know so the best thing about presidential town the largest their crime in the city were so proud of that in crime all right buildings it's over twenty don't have to do now for that's what I love about it it is more inclusive right if you can do one two three or all four so twenty three hundred steps are possible it's supposed to be pretty nice this weekend I'm hoping we can keep that healthy lifestyle going people might get outside and and get their steps in that way but certainly certainly a a disappointment and something that we wish we could move forward with but again as a long association we we certainly lean on the advice of a presidential towers and want to make sure that that we're putting on an event successfully and so yeah we hope people visit the website to learn more certainly donations are still being accepted they will be actually until April and just know that every dollar rates will continue to go to the the wonderful work that's happening within the American lung association and we know that to be true on Christmas sorry to hear that news but if again if people do want to donate it's a great place to do that fight for air climb Chicago dot org is this what percentage would you say your fundraising comes from this one event about fifty about half half okay all right so that's a good place to go in and help out in enough hopefully they'll be another if there be another event in the future you can tell us about yes deal to promote thank you Kristin Kristen young executive director of the American lung association in greater Chicago thanks Kristin sorry to hear that news right Ellen DeGeneres she was having some fun with our audience about the the hand washing demo kind of fun with that and the doctor is in the house doctor Steven Saltzman reminds us who needs a mask who doesn't he's gonna settle that and also how long the viruses live on surfaces an interesting question that continues to come up we'll talk.

"With us on the Clark Howard show. Hi, kristin. Kristen what's going on with you? IRA 'cause they talk about different options in one of my co workers. You also listen has mentioned, you know, like a low like a hundred dollar one to start versus thousand dollars, which I know our other ones that are out there. And if that particular one at the company is worth starting just to start or should I wait to open one of the ones that you know, require about a thousand dollars or so to open. Well, I love for you to get started. As soon as you can the sooner you get started, the better, and you get in the habit of putting the money in month by month and doing automatic deposits to it. So if you're at a point you can do one hundred dollars Schwab allows that my coworker. My coworker had told me you mentioned before so vanguard, which is the I think the second larger. Financial group in the world at this point something like that, you know, they have done that with Oltra low costs Schwab offers a lot of funds that are very low cost. And then betterment is another group that I've talked about. Okay. You know from listening to your show, and you know, I co workers and parents ninety one a started somewhere, you know, like you said getting the habit of contributing though. Yeah. One step at a time. I find that. When people say, well, I'm going to get to that the get to that keeps pushing further and further in the future. And if you start with wherever you can and Kristen you just keep adding to it bit by bit. It's amazing over time. How much money you will have? Yeah. And get you. I'm twenty five of heard you speak. You know on how much growth can happen over you know, four or five decades. And you know, like you said you gotta start somewhere. So I figured I'd ask and see where start we'll fantastic. And I think you'll really like the platform on betterment is a place. Koko look into that. Thank you so much. Thank you have a great day twenty five and already saving for the future. Zan is with us on the Clark Howard show. How you doing? Clark. Mccall. Absolutely. You're interested in building money for your future. Good job baby steps. But my question is. So I know I use betterman for number different things. But one of the things they offer is kind of more short term savings, and a no there's been a lot of talk about you know, the market is due for a decline at some point miss. And that's what your thoughts were on these nine. No, they're they tend to be more heavy in bonds with betterman and things like that. But what your thoughts were for? Maybe if you're saving for a car in three years or engagement rings or short term wonderful question. This kind of thing. Okay. So when you're looking at a goal that is seven years or less. It changes the strategy about what you're up to. And when you move under five years, you're no longer an investor for those things you're only saver. Because there's too much risk. If you're looking at. Let's say you mentioned buying a car. Let's say in three years by car in three years. In a three year window, you could have a stock market decline of as much as fifty percent. And that's that's common is not a bad thing. It's how it works is that you have markets overshoot on the upside. The overshoot on the downside. So in shorter windows. View. The markets can be really volatile and some money like that just needs to be like putting into an online savings account. We're just keep building up. So that you have the money for it. You're not gonna earn much. You can earn like one and a quarter percent one point three five percent. But the.

Is it still is the rubber cement still on it? Or is it really just a stain? Meaning has the texture changed because of the rubber cement. I'm not home. So I can feel it.
