"Health link, which is the district's health insurance marketplace among those who may be affected by the hack are members of Congress. So let's talk about it with CBS News congressional correspondent Scott mcfarlane who joins us live. So Scott, how serious is this? And what kind of personal information was hacked here? Hey, Nick, there are serious concerns about this. You know, these data breaches, they're almost becoming second nature. You hear about this company. That company may have exposed some of your personal information. In this case, over the past 48 hours, there have been emails circulating among House and Senate staffers warnings from administrators that this breach has exposed potentially social security numbers, home or cell phone numbers, email addresses, potentially home addresses, and that's always a concern, but if you add on the next level issue here, Nick, where we're at a time where members of Congress are getting threats. Many staffers in Congress are getting threats. There's this added level of personal security concern to go along with this data breach. Many of these folks have been advised to do your credit check, do Equifax, do the things you do to prevent any identity theft or fraud. But the FBI has said that they have seen some of this for sale on the dark web. Some of this information for sale. That's a really good point because when you think about the nature of the nation's capital and you look at other cities around the country, maybe this happens in a different city, but when this happens in D.C., you get all kinds of other concerns with the federal lawmakers and other interests in the nation's capital. So maybe D.C. was potentially targeted because of that. We just don't know yet, huh? I think there's a separate issue that's worth raising no Nick. Is that this is a time of unique and extreme politically violent threat environments. There is a lot of threats going through the system. The capitol police investigated 7000 threats last year alone and 10,000 the year before that. So this is an extra sensitivity here, Nick, to identifiable information, home addresses. Social security numbers being revealed to anyone in any way. And let's just take a second to remind everybody, it's not just members of Congress who use this obviously. There are many people in the district who could be affected as well. We're just talking about the other security threats that might go along with it, given the nature of D.C.. So Scott, let's shift topics now to your specialty, the capital riot cases. You've been following these court cases of those charged in the January 6th riot. Tell us the latest on that. There are about a thousand cases now. That's quite a milestone that's been reached this week, 1000 defendants in the U.S. capitol attack. That said, even though there are a thousand Nick, we saw earlier this evening, a sentencing hearing, unlike any other man named Tristan Stevens from Florida, was being sentenced to use accused of confronting physically that injured capital sergeant aquilino gonal. He was accused of coordinating that he hoped push against police at the tunnel January 6th. He asked for mercy today, but unleashed a series of conspiracy theories. Accusing Anthony Fauci of unloading a biological weapon, accusing the government of entrapping the January 6th defendants of covering up crimes against children, the conspiracy theories didn't help his cause. Unbridled and unsympathetic according to the judge, Kristen Stevens was sentenced to 5 years in prison and the conspiracy theory rant did not help his cause. Okay, CBS News congressional correspondent Scott mcfarlane, thanks so much as always

"Be talking about it for a while, but I don't think anyone was prepared for the way in which it's entered the language and entered the culture in countries all over the world everywhere I go. It's very hard to find anybody who hasn't seen love actually or doesn't watch it each Christmas it's a marvelous thing. You know, I did think there was a year where I did I did underworld, which a Kate Beckinsale vampire Len wiseman's vampire werewolf movie, which I figured. And a TV series called state of play, and they were all very good parts. And I did think, and then at the end, there was love, actually. And I thought, if these all go half decently, then it could be a change in the weather. And so it was a marvelous thing for me because it changed the way I go to work. Have there been any conversations about a love actually remake or a sequel? Yeah, I think they probably I should think people have crawled across the floor on their hands and knees begging Richard Curtis. I would imagine I don't know. But we did briefly get back together for a charity for a comic relief thing we wrote some sketches for each of the characters. The good news was I could still get into those trousers, which was. Great. And I never thought I'd find myself in lycra, even certainly not long term, but they were, but yeah, no, it's been, I mean, it's great. The other film that people talk to me. I think probably more because I don't own a car and I walk everywhere, and I meet lots of people, therefore. And the film that most people talk to me about now buy a mile is Richard Curtis's next movie, or other last movie, as a director, he says, which is called about time. And lots of people mostly young people talk to me about that movie. That's kind of that's also entered the language. And it's a kind of stayer. And people watch that film over and over. So, you know, I'm a lucky guy. Oh, okay, you've given me a movie that I will have to watch and I'll let you know. More than okay. What if you like love, actually I'd be amazed if you didn't respond to about time. Okay, and every time I watch love, actually, I cry in all the same places, no matter how many times I've seen it. Bill, we've got an audience question. This is from Kristen Steven in Virginia. You've successfully successfully played heavy, serious roles, as well as comedic ones. Do you have a preference or is it like salty and sweet? You trade off. Well, Kristen, it's kind of as you suggest it's salty and sweet. Yeah, I trade off. I mean, I like the, I like presenting a moving target. And I was fortunate very early on that I had an inspirational agent called pippa Markham, who saw that I wasn't very comfortable playing the roles that I was supposedly eligible for. In other words, romantic roles. I was never very comfortable with myself in that regard. So she used to send me up for all kinds of what would be called now character roles. And because of her influence, I would sometimes get them. So that started off a process of a series of very, varied roles that I got to play, you know, a serious comedy. I didn't actually get comedy calls until quite late on. And then I can't remember how that happened, but I did a movie called still crazy, which required me to get laughs. And I realized that all those years of sitting watching comedians on TV, I think by osmosis, I'd somehow picked up some of the rhythms that might get you a laugh. You picked up some of the rhythms or do you not think that you have sort of some comedic gene that you were finally able to tap into? I don't know about that because I'm not, and I'm not being cute, but I'm not terribly self aware. But I don't know that I'm intrinsically funny. But I do know that I picked up a couple of tips from, you know, there are practical things you can do. They usually about pausing or hitting the consonant, the consonant they are, I just messed it up. The consonant, the last word of the sentence very hard. You know, there's little things that you pick up that you know, particularly doing them live. If you do jokes live in plays in the theater, that's a very good school, because you work out. You get the instant result. It either works, or it doesn't work. But maybe I am just a very funny guy. But I don't experience it like that. All right. Bill, I'm going to bring up a bit of a touchy subject. Folks may have noticed something when I played a clip from the movie. You, the star of the movie, weren't in it. We didn't choose any of the stirring clips of you as mister Williams in living because you don't like watching or hearing yourself, even during interviews such as this, and as somebody who does this all the time, I totally get it. I never go back, rarely go back and look. Why don't you just want to is that true and why? Let's have this discussion like mine to like mind. Okay, it's not really a touchy thing. I mean, yeah, I used to sort of, in the old days, I used to pretend that I'd seen it because I thought you had to you had to be seen to have seen it. But now I've just come clean. I've got old enough. I gave up watching myself a long time ago as a practical measure because it undermines me. I don't see what other people see. I used to think that, you know, either people were being kind when they complimented me on anything or else they were dumb. But now I realize that there is I've become more or less comfortable with the huge disparity between what I think and what other people seem to think. If I right now, for instance, with living, people really, really like the movie and everything is fine. If I see the movie, I lose all that. It's stolen from me. And that's not, I know there's no logic. It's no sense in it, but it's a fact. And trust me, I've worked on it. And I've tried it both ways. And life is very, very sweet, as long as I don't see anything. If I see stuff, life is not so good. So I'm working on that. And it's not because it was the same when I was young. And less complicated to look at. I didn't like it then. And it's not so much the way I look, although I'm not crazy about it. And it's not so much the way I sound, although I'm not crazy about that either. It's the acting that gets to me. Because I see all the bits of cowardice where I didn't quite pull something up or that default thing I always do when I can't pull something off. And then it occurred to me to cheer myself up recently. I thought, well, you know, when I go to see, when I go to the movies, and I see an actor, I really like, and they do that thing they always do. I'm always kind of happy that they do that thing. They always do. If I work on watch Steve McQueen, who's one of my favorite actors of all time, he had certain physical idiosyncrasies, which I would relish because I was waiting for them almost. Because that's Steve McQueen. And I'm not comparing myself to Steve McQueen. But it did occur to me that maybe those people that regularly watch me, they might think, oh, great. He's doing that thing he always does. So maybe it's not such a bad thing. But I know it's some sort of dysmorphia. I know it's probably, you know, in the early days people used to say, you got to watch in order to learn. I learned nothing except that I should probably do something else for a living. That is, that is ridiculous because you shouldn't be doing anything else for a living. But as I was listening to you 'cause I focused on not watching yourself not listening to yourself, but it made me wonder, you know, I've talked to other actors who won't read reviews. Particularly stage actors, they won't even read won't read reviews. Are you in that in that queue as well? Absolutely. Never go near them. They're not for you. They're for other people, it's bad magic. I don't even if I'm told that I'm really good in that bit in the second act. I don't want to know that I'm really good in that bit in the second act because I won't be good in that bit in the second act anymore because I'll be too wonderful. I'll become too marvelous. And I don't want to hear any bad news, obviously, because who needs it. And also, I don't believe, I don't know who these people are, necessarily, and I don't and I don't need them in my head. It's like it would be weird. It's like, you know, it's why I'm probably not on social media or anything. I don't want to, you know, I'm, you know, I keep I keep it clean house. Bill, we're running out of time, but I can't, I can't talk, have this conversation and without asking you about how it feels to be nominated for not just Golden Globe for best actor, but to have this Oscar buzz. Around you and your portrayal of mister Williams. It feels very, very, very good. I'm thrilled that the film has had this kind of rapturous reception and I feel I'm honored by the attention and I'm honored by these speculation and, you know, it's a tremendous development for us. It's hard enough making independent movies and having them and having people go to see them. And this is our one route to that. And I'm very, very, you know, I'm very moved by it and I'm very, very grateful. And that's just wrong. This role came to you after fortuitous taxi ride that you had a while back. Have you shared a taxi lately with anyone that could lead to another great role? No, I haven't actually. Maybe I should. I should get people out for taxi rides. No, I haven't, but there have been, you know, there's been some interest. The year looks lively. We're still in business. Bill Nye, Golden Globe nominated actor in the beautiful movie living. Thank you so much for coming to capehart on Washington

"Like, it's not worth the risk. I don't want to get a hot air balloon here. Yeah. I just face. What you do is say the balloon just take off and then they up there just DJ in front of the store. I want to be the first to do this. I want to be the first. Somebody else go first and do it. Safe. Jeez. It's been deemed, you know. Who said that? No, the company. I believe the name is one word. They said it's safe. Yeah. It's a company. Yeah. Have the food to say organic on ain't organic. You're not going to space. I'm not leaving here. For me, okay? Like, what really went down with Kristen Steven and Lauren Conrad. Now, Kristen and Steven were talking all about their messy relationship on dear media's back to the beach podcast and Kristen admitted that she has some regrets. The fact that Lauren and I really went after each other is so messed up when the person we should have been going after it was you. And this is so classic, right? If someone gets cheated on, you go after the other woman. The other woman. It's like, why are we not blaming the guy? Or the girl, whatever the situation is. But in a lot of ways, I feel bad. Back

"And got up all the way to the top of the rock. And i'm like cool. I can see the same stuff. I'm just higher off the ground and it took us two hours to get here. And i'm sweaty not an enjoying it but there's a lot of colorado ones who really love that aspect of colorado being outside and next year you're going to have to pay a fee devil's backbone amid the county open space fee changes. That's right you're gonna have to pay a fee to be outdoors. Lerma county trail and open space users left. Pay slightly higher fees starting next year including a new fee for devil's backbone open space. That armor county board of commissioners unanimously approved the new fee and overall fee increases tuesday starting in january day use permits annual permits in camping fees in county manage areas will increase be increased by about ten percent larimer county department of natural resources director. Dalen said in a presentation to commissioners to use devil's backbone open space sound trail head in loveland. Which has been free. Users will either need an annual pass or pay a ten dollar alien like many other popular county open spaces and parks including horseshoe threads war and carter lake. Think it's really important for us to make sure that caesar equitable across the system. And i doubt having a fee at devil's backbone of very highly used open space was not a good policy to have any commissioner. Kristen stevens said we don't want certain parks to be subsidizing. Other more used parks. It just doesn't make sense. Dave permits at all other county. Natural areas will increase from nine dollars to ten dollars. An annual passes for vehicles will increase from ninety dollars to one hundred dollars fig said. The fee increases needed to keep up with the county's anticipated population growth and inflation. We're seeing a lot of that lately. So they're gonna is gonna change anybody's mind from not going one dollars for the day pass. It's still and look it's still cheaper than a lot of the A lot of other activities that you might want to go. Do i get that. But there's just something about it and maybe this is just me. There's something about it that doesn't think maybe we should be getting charged to go and enjoy the state that we're in and get the money goes to goes to good use and preserving the parks and things of that nature. "Poodle is ready to to handle this well and i think you know the through the fall. The you know did so that the That our our schools were hot spot. And i think there's a things that Did flare up. They had to You know basically isolate and do some things like that but You know. I think You know there's the vulnerable populations and and trying to And then they it was. We got around the thanksgiving timeframe there was a lot of Social mixing with Holidays and so forth Right after the holidays and so forth. And that's when our number started going up it wasn't it Due to our schools it was doodoo. Just I'm mixing And and and and in groups and that sort of thing so you know. I think if we keep an eye on those things that actually transmit to the virus And and if. We're not always keeping vigilant that if we have some of the symptoms and We isolate ourselves or At least get testing down and and then You know at sea issue for example. The testing there has been real literally phenomenal. And you didn't see any of the hotspot outbreaks that you been at many other universities and so i think it gives a lot of credit to the very proactive approach that You did with saliva testing. That can actually indicate the Wastewater testing than and also a lot of Individual testing For the The virus and you know it. You know going on campus. You really had to be tested before. He actually went on campus so All those things were very important know to help. Keep the virus down. And that's exactly where i was going next year. You're reading my mind going to talk you. And how well. They did handle that that first semester but they looked to come back and get things going here in this spring semester. It's still a little bit of a hybrid schedule from what i understand. But that testing really is. That's the difference maker in being ahead of the game here. i think so. And and also there's a little bit of delay with the virtual. I mean as starting virtually and then moving to more some of the In person and Hybrid kind of model And being to accommodate those. That might be coming back and allow some time if if there wasn't infection so it's not so we don't start up in person right away and and so You know. I think there's the right kind of precautions that recognizing that You know we still have a lot of the education. Just isn't a virtual game. It's a it's a sometimes a contact sport where you need to engage personally with a in certain ways and project You know. I teach a class where students are in small groups and doing hands on projects and that sort of thing so all. That's part of the education so we're trying to do it in a way that is safe and and but also it's maintains a high level of quality of education for collins. Mayor way trucks joining us this morning.
