"Same president who said judge my presidency by how I handled a pandemic That's a huge challenge for him Well it sure is Rick and it's you know it's important to acknowledge sometimes what you don't know as the president did today I realize he could come back with a very different story but it was an opportunity to talk about what had already been done in the case of Fauci there as look you know we've often unpopular policies have been put in place to protect us from what might be next Yes And unfortunately for him those unpopular policies are starting to reflect in his approval ratings And I think that's partly why he got out as soon as he could on Monday after this thing broke over the holidays and tried to be reassuring but I also think as G said I mean he did use a bully pulpit well to also try to get everybody to get jab to have a vaccine You know he's still lags behind his own goals and getting the country fully vaccinated And this is another example of why it's important with a vaccine you have the ability to trap the virus that is before mutates into something like this and it drives us all crazy to have to learn how to speak the Greek alphabet and the challenges pretty evident Doctor Fauci sound like he was even having trouble with it But they both But I think the president is realizing that he can't he can't let this go its course without being positioned politically to tackle it And I would imagine his Thursday announcement from The White House will be even more aggressive We're going it's a Greek letter home a cronut is not a marvel villain that you somehow did not hear of Let me ask you guys about the broader view here from Washington These headlines that we just heard about J Powell at the fed He's going to be testifying on Capitol Hill and we got a peek at his testimony headlines around the terminal That this variant adds to economic risks and inflation uncertainty This is the backdrop for this administration right now Jeannie a headline it did not need when we start talking about economic risks Due to omicron the president tell me if I'm wrong is without many tools to do anything Either in the case of the pandemic in the case of this new variant and I'm going to leave it to you to say it Joe because you say it beautifully Or in the case of inflation And that headline has got to be one that's just you know shivers through everybody in The White House Because this is exactly what the president doesn't want There's no promise no shutdowns and no lockdowns So are we just there then Rick I mean this is life with COVID They're gonna be new variants guess what Get a vaccine wear a mask Yeah I think that the reality is that it depends upon how early talk about hard to say This virus is this virus at killer or is this just like a flu And the jury's out BioTech reported that they'll take them two weeks really understand the impact So we've got some time to kill in this regard But what vexing pal and the administration is this labor market that has created all these disruptions in the supply chain people not going back to work And this certainly isn't going to help And the fed is already trapped into this notion that they're staking out transient inflation And the question now is are they going to start talking about inflation being something other than transient Does this recalibrate the view on reconciliation Genie We've got a couple of big headlines coming up We're going to talk to Emily Wilkins about next The government funding the debt ceiling there seems to be a way beyond them At least for government funding I don't think anybody's figured out that debt ceiling And then the social spending agenda will spending $1.75 trillion seem like a bad idea after this or money that's even more needed when you speak with Democrats I think to the person who matters the most Joe Manchin and Kristen cinema as a second I think it is going to seem like a bad idea I really do not see how in this environment They push that through this year at least before Christmas with everything else on their plate When I heard about this new variant I thought immediately that that was like the death knell for build back better at least for the short term At least before Christmas Because of the inflationary aspect or what part of it Because of the inflationary aspect how could Joe Manchin and Kristen cinema and even some other moderates I have to say sign off on that given what somebody like Jay Powell is saying today and other people are saying Rick just made a great point This will keep people from going back to work potentially That's a huge problem for The White House that's been so focused on employment Rick does it does it gather any momentum for Republicans Democrats put their heads together and deal with the debt ceiling then Or damn still on their own You know I think the Dems are still on their own I think that this is probably going to be helpful to the Democrats when it comes to getting a continuing resolution to fund the government and nobody wants to really make that a big problem It doesn't mean we're going to get a budget anytime soon but they'll kick that into 2022 probably.

"Today down for a 9th straight session longest string of losses since March of 1988 I'm Charlie Pablo That is a Bloomberg business flash Thank you so much for that update Charlie pellet Bloomberg business week is brought to you by SEI Crises emphasize character and partnership One mission one community SCI go to SCI C dot com slash IMS All right we did want to get to a D.C. roundup on this Friday house passing President Biden's tax and spending plan We got that earlier Today now moves off to the Senate We're still waiting on any news of a change at the fed Let's get that roundup with the Jodie Schneider She's political news director for Bloomberg TV and radio She's back in our interactive broker studio You're hearing some audio and some of the music I'm dancing Tim and I are still here at the UBS arena Jodi another busy day in D.C. Where shall we begin First of all should we talk about the president's tax and spending plan Sure we can talk about that or department of the turkeys could come later Oh no we could start there Okay Turkeys Peanut butter swan shall we see other They got pardoned So it's a tradition that started with George Bush and yeah so he was at The White House To do that after the spending this morning getting a physical so the president's had a busy day but on Capitol Hill where it was even more important than the Turkey pardoning They did pass the House passed They build back better plan as it's being called It didn't happen as quickly as they thought first of all for weeks they've been talking about this but they finally agreed to have a vote and then last night the House minority leader decided to have a 8 and a half hour 8 hours and 32 minutes to be exact Uninterrupted right I'm interrupted speech It's not a filibuster when it happens in the house by the way It's not called that It's just a very long time By the way for congressional nerds this actually was longer than the 8 hour something speech the Nancy Pelosi the current House speaker gave several years ago during the Affordable Care Act deliberations in the house So he has now mister McCarthy is now excited her in that But they did go ahead and pass that plan which of course is the president's signature plan which would expand the social safety net I have some things that address climate change and really change tax policy in the nation So that ended up passing by two 20 to two 13 only one Democrat voted no and no Republicans voted for it So not such a bipartisan measure It will now go to the Senate where now it gets a lot more complicated of course once it heads over there So what happens to it in the Senate And what do you know about Democrats modern Democrats I'm talking about senator cinema and of course the Democrat from West Virginia senator Manchin who have both made it very difficult I think a lot of people would say for Democrats at least in the Senate to move their legislation What do we know about the way they feel about this Yeah and you're right Those are the two people who will have a large say what happens over there because the Senate is evenly split I mean the Democrats are you know they control it by one vote They would have the vice president to break a tie But they need both Joe Manchin and Kristen cinema And they've yet to give their public support to it Basically Joe Manchin of West Virginia he doesn't like the four weeks of guaranteed paid family leave in the House bill He's also said it's too expensive He also was concerned about immigration and immigration proposal in there that would grant deportation relief for some undocumented immigrants and he doesn't like the new Medicare hearing aid benefit So there's a number of things Also the progressives in the house There are problem If it goes over there and gets watered down or in their view watered down they say they want vote for it to come back when it comes back to the house You have to pass the same exact bill to go to the president's desk So this is far from done now It's done in the house.

"This just happened While we were in commercial break he's risks hurting american families suffering from historic inflation. Simply put i will not support a bill that is this consequential without thoroughly understanding the impact that it'll have on our national debt our economy most importantly all of our american people every elected representatives needs to know what they are voting for and the impact. It has not only on their constituents but the entire country up pretty much killing reconciliation at this moment. One of the downsides of the american media being so invested in the are versus de dynamic that exists in the landscape is they miss a lot of the important nuance that happens behind the scenes that they just they. They can't covered because they can't grasp it. If you've been in politics long enough though you know it's real. You need to understand that joe mansion is not just speaking for joe manchin as much as so many people say he is. He's not joe. Manchin is speaking for a number of other democratic senators who are up for reelection this year but they can't come out and say what he say even though they believe it because they don't wanna get primary at the beginning of twenty twenty two they. They want to keep their jobs. So they're allowing mansion and kristen cinema to take all the bullets for to take the arrows to take the the cuts the slashes. The barbs the attacks the insults kristen cinema was that a wedding over the weekend and a group of progressive. Protesters should up in disrupted the wedding of her friend's daughter Because kristen was there and the bride's mother pleaded for them to go away and they refused because krista cinema was there. This should kill the bill there it. It does not surprise me to mansion. Come out forcefully today after stuff like that happened. He is willing to take this on himself. They're not going to bully him and that such a frustration in the conversation out there. Well it's not even a conversation because the part of the conversation because it's not part of the coverage and because it's on the covers. People realize it maggie. Hassan is the democratic senator. From new hampshire. She is behind. Gra What is it breaks sooner or new. A governor sununu. She's behind governor. Sununu in the polling and sununu is not even a candidate for the united states senate. She is one of those senators who does not want the reconciliation bill as it's been designed but she kiet come out forcefully and say it so she has to rely on mansion and rely on cinema to get it done Mark kelly and arizona is another one. He's got to rely on the others to get this done because he doesn't want to get blown up by the progressives in the primary he won't he won't happen so he has to rely on them as well. Here's a little more mansion in this press conference tax for the sake of our country i again i am urging all of my colleagues in the house to vote and pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill. It's bipartisan sixty. nine votes. we worked on that for many many months. And as i've said before holding that bill is not going to work to get my support of what you want. It's what we should all agree on and work through the process. I'm open to support a final bill that helps move our country forward but an equally open to voting against a bill. That hurts our. And i've been very clear about that. Also and most importantly hurts every american. Let's work together. And i mean that. Let's all work together on getting a sensible reconciliation package a package that really strengthens our nation and makes us better and these the world.

It looks like the database issues have settled themselves out. There were just so many people who called all at once. If you're unfamiliar with the issue the united states senate is considering a change to the national defense authorization act. They want to draft daughters. They wanna force your daughter to apply for the selective service a caller troy from florida. Who said he called. Senator scott's office and the staffer said will actually optional to allow your daughter to apply to the selective service she wants. That's not true. Several friends of mine who are lawyers and looked at the language at told me. That's not true at all. In fact what they've done is they've Blanket now got rid of the word male for selective service so everyone has to apply for the selective service the draft. I personally think you should oppose your daughter's having to go fight. Wars i just do. You may disagree. I personally think that we should not force our daughters to go to war. People are stupid and the internet has given stupid people larger platforms with which to show us their stupidity exhibit. Three billion two hundred eighty seven million one hundred eighty nine thousand eleven looks out trauma and the headline is arizona's kirstin cinema bad for bisexual. Americans bisexual women are constantly told. We're untrustworthy that are attraction to multiple genders means. Were more likely to cheat. It wasn't that. Long ago. That embattled arizona senator. Kirsten and kristen cinema was hailed as a triumph of bisexual representation after she was sworn in january. Twenty nineteen out celebrated the first openly bisexual senator as a rebuke trumpism positioning the sassy lawmaker and opposition to homophobic. Then vice president. A self absorbed democratic turncoat more fixated on getting attention and lining her own pockets than uplifting or community. no longer a by icon. She's now held up as a cautionary tale about the limits of representation. What the hell does her senate positions have to do with someone being bisexual. I have no idea when you idea when you so envelope your sexual orientation to your political beliefs. I guess this is what you get. I guess this is like a. "She's in. Who was a republican maverick. So he was a year ago. Oh you stood up to donald trump. He's obamacare our hero. Say john not so cinema and behind the scenes. The democrats are beside themselves with rage. And they can't do anything about it now. Why can't they do anything about it. Well it turns out when you have a fifty fifty senate. You can't navigate to well. Cnn's manu raju is talking about these theaters. Mansion feud he says they are trillions of dollars. Apart on their price tag sanders was asked by cnn about joe mansions criticisms of the democratic packages. He said. I can't speak for mr manchin. I'm not a psychologist. A democratic. Senator told cnn that the frustration with mansion in cinema is quote unquote off the charts and accused them of doing it for publicity reasons. The president told progressives this week that he had spent hours with mansion cinema and they don't move biden even claimed kristen cinema had stopped returning his phone calls. It's gotten so bad now. This is ed morrissey at hot air dot com. It's gotten so bad review reports that now no one can see how to resolve the feud sanders has taken to insulting mansion publicly and while mansion says he takes nothing personally. He's also digging even deeper over the last forty eight hours mansion and kristen cinema have become so persona non grata. That joe mansion won't even condemned the harassment of christian cinema. So what are the moves. Well mansion cinema can do the math as ed morrissey notes. There are five equations equation. One fifty fifty two twenty two to twelve democrats barely control either chamber of congress which means radical changes are not just impossible their platform for political disaster equation to joe biden loss. West virginia by thirty nine points equation. Three joe biden won arizona by four tenths of a point only because trump proved to be so unpopular republicans themselves were not unpopular equation for adding up all the cove nineteen relief packages passed by congress. Shows we've already added or appropriated five point three trillion dollars in off-budget spending an equation. Five annual inflation has risen to five point two five percent of the of august which is not at all coincidental to equation for the five point three trillion dollars. We're already spending.

"Amendment and the democrats are crying foul on this. Here's bernie sanders. I want to say a few words about three and a half trillion dollars. Reconciliation bill that a number of us are fighting for. I'd also like to make some brief comments about what senator mansion said earlier. Today i let us be clear. Poll after poll including polls in west virginia. Show that what we are trying to do in this reconciliation. Bill is enormously popular among the american people. But it's not just the american people who support what we're trying to do. Forty eight out of fifty members of the senate democratic caucus support the bill and two hundred and ten members about ninety six percent of the house democratic caucus support the bill and by the way the president of the united states supports the bill and while read it. Let me tell you who is vigorously opposed to this. And i think it's important that the american people understand that because this is the corruption of american politics the corruption of american politics. That's bernie sanders. Who himself is in a fight today. You see bernie. Sanders was asked to sign onto a statement within the democratic conference condemning. The harassment of kristen cinema. It leaked late last night after ten. Thirty that joel bernie. Sanders refused to sign the statement. Bernie sanders is the only democrat in the senate who wouldn't sign the statement bernie sanders says according to sources bernie sanders whitten sign the statement denouncing the harassment of kristen cinema unless the resolution also denounce kristen cinemas positions. You should keep in mind that bernie sanders supporter. James hodgkinson attempted a mass assassination of republican members of congress after bernie sanders denounce their policies and so their policies would kill people bernie sanders care about the harassment of other people bernie. Sanders says yet to apologize for his rhetoric inspiring james hodgkinson to tip the mass assassination republican members of congress. He's not gonna apologize for this. He doesn't care. The christians got harassed into communist. It's what communist do.

Are you ever this texas or do you really want to cut the taxes. What about you. What about you. What about you. What about you. What about you then. They go to all the republican senators and they do the whip count. Well well senator portman in favor of this. Senator cruises only favorite this that her paul's only for this release it ever this. They got consensus on this. When this was gonna pass this is where we are. That's what the media does. When the democrats are in charge the media never does a whip. Count with the media is enduring. The democrats are the media does whip them. The media takes chuck schumer statement said face value the progressive statements at face value. The democrat statements at face value so yesterday. Mitch mcconnell signaled. We're going to put this until december i suspect the republicans are going to cave. I do what. Republicans do but by punting to december. What happened immediately. Pivoted the focus back to reconciliation and for the first time yesterday. Now that the desi. Let's go on the media. Started asking questions and guess what it turns out. It's not just joe mansion and kristen cinema. The democrats are having whipped. Count problems with a host of senators on the reconciliation bill. A lot of them think gets too big they're trotting out jon tester from montana. Tester from montana is a progressive openly. So montana is maybe a republican state but it elects democrats. They're their governor. Had been a democrat. They got john ritter. They reelected jon tester very closely fought race and john has now come out. And oh a yep. I'm all in favor of everything. Joe biden once he sells he talks like a conservative but he's actually pretty progressive. he surrounded actually By a bunch of progressives in his office and the result is that.

"I'm joined by byron york. Who wrote yesterday about kristen cinema. The democrat marriage zona who does not agree with the largest that democrats want to spread around the country and in response. The new republic called her a traitor. The nation said how she is sold out the original story of kristen serve the senate's new super villain and then matt iglesias. Kristen cinema must be stopped. In the era of trump that would have been seen as a threat byron. Well done yesterday. I don't think the left is going to ease up though on their new. Michelle in coddle. In the new york times today calls her many names. That's right. I wrote it before. The new york times published the stories. That that simply. What's wrong with kirsten senna. Yep so as a matter of fact after the bathroom incident which occurred in arizona. she's flying back cinemas linebacker washington and. She's harassed on the plane About daca so i listen. I think the the remember there was a there was a period of time when resistance forces who are harassing Ted cruz they harass. Sarah huckabee sanders. Actually restaurant kicked her out and virginia And there were a people. Like maxine waters saying that anyone who supports trump should not find peace anywhere. You shouldn't be able to fill up your car the gas station. You shouldn't be abaya a gallon of milk at the grocery store without having to face the consequences of your political positions. Can the Democrats Raise the Debt Limit Without Republican Help?
"Good morning The newspapers are full of contrived. Drama will the government shutdown. Will the stimulus bill passed will the three and a half trillion dollar social infrastructure. Bill passed what will happen to the squad. What about kristen cinema. What about joe manchin. Here's what my prediction is. Everything passes and they spend all the money after pretend drama. What do you think. Well if i had to guess from the outside and you don't really know I mean the best. Intel's the people managing the with news. Obviously and it's possible they don't know but my guess is immigrants are are not gonna leave that that One point two trillion infrastructure money on the table that they'll pass that at some point. You have always been skeptical that they could get another big reconciliation bill through the senate I don't i don't. I don't think it's just mansion. I think there's a half of those democrats who would prefer not to vote on something particular tax increases but we will see They're going to have. Typically i think getting the debt limit increase eventually seneca Because schumer did not put the instructions for one in the last budget resolution and So far saying i'm not gonna finance you know your deficit spending. They gotta go back to you on the budget committee. Jim where you're on your budget committee. I always avoided that. Well i think they've got to go back and amend the budget resolution reconciliation instructions. It takes two weeks. They better get started exactly. And that's the point and mcconnell's been saying this for months. He's the best republican wiedersen dole. In my opinion. I mean yeah. He's just and he's been saying for months. Look we're not gonna finance this enormous deficit spending. You're going to have to do it. And yet schumer did not put the instructions in the last budget resolution. So you're right. It takes a couple of weeks and I know that schumer is really faced up to that. Yes i think. I fought for months us. At the infrastructure bill would eventually passed. The house would take what the senate gives just as they did in two thousand nine. This is going to the house and not just because the progressives don't like it's not big enough it's going to sit there in the house and have the senate serve you a bill and say no. We're not going to conference. This is our bill. You taken a leave but they all passed macaire on that basis. I think they'll pass the bill. That's my guess

"That's why i think mansion is holding the see. I don't really believe mansion cares about the costs as much certainly cares about the cost. He is worried about inflation but mansion cares about mansion mansion does. What's good for joe manchin. Yes guinea body. Listen it republican democrat and their answer. Is that joe. Manchin has in this for joe manchin and if it makes joe mansion look good. He gets reelected. What makes joe manchin. Look good. Well screwing the progressives. Because he's the senator from west virginia but to in a coal mining natural gas state where his son runs one of the largest natural gas companies in america. That joe manchin started being able to write the regulations that oversee coal and natural gas as part of the green new deal matter. More to joe manchin than anything. It's not a conflict of interest. Joe manchin the company for his son does certainly gets money from but it's not really a conflict of interest. Joe mansion wants to help. Joe manchin and joe manchin was telling joe manchin not by enriching. Joanna that's what alexander cousin says thinks. Aoc is accusing. Joe manchin a beat in the pocket of the energy industry. Yeah he certainly gets money from but he's not there to write regulations to joe mansion. That's progressive pipedream. No no no. Joe mansion benefits by protecting the coal miners natural gas producers of west virginia which gets him reelected and it gives bernie sanders the middle finger as longest climate change and the green. New deal is part of reconciliation. It's part of the budget. It goes to bernie sanders the moment. It stripped out of reconciliation. Not only. Does it lower the whole package cost price tag. But then it has to go to joe mansion in hopes joe manchin. That's why i think. Reconciliation ultimately passes but it scaled back one of the core components. That's taken out will be all the green stuff because that's where most of the costs are anyway and then joe. Manchin is empowered. Now what are the other hangups. Kristen cinema christian cinema does it like the corporate tax increases. She thinks that hurts the economy. You get rid of the green new deal components you get rid of a lot of the taxes that would be applied to corporations to cover the cost of that sort of stuff. She could get reconciliation. Pass so i think. A scaled back version reconciliation with the debt ceiling increase passes. I think the bipartisan infrastructure. Deal passes i just think it takes longer. They're not gonna get republican. Help all the debt ceiling so they have to put it reconciliation and if they have to put reconciliation to pass it that means. Reconciliation must pass by october eighteenth. Therefore reconciliation is going to pass so that they can't raise the ditsy lead and if reconciliation passes they will pass the bipartisan infrastructure plan. That's how i see this all shape out. i just. It makes sense to me that that's the way it works. Because you're all about empowering joe manchin if you're joe manchin in for joe manchin to be empowered. He's got a show the democrats he's on the team but to help joe manchin. He's got to be on the team without cost himself anything and that is he gets to preside over the climate change stuff the progressives or being played a you know what i kinda think. They know. they're getting played. That's why alexandra qazi cortez has been coming out. Attacking joe manchin regularly. She hasn't really said anything about christian. Cinema other democrats in the house are attacking kristen cinema. But she's attacking joe mansion bernie sanders is now attacking joe manchin and it all has to do with the green new deal.

"Not the fact that the democrats don't seem to understand this or they want a- i think they actually do. They're just trying to hope that you don't understand it. This is part of the problem that they're dealing with and part of this. Talking boy has to do with kristen. Cinema kristen cinema is the senator from arizona democrat who is not down with the tax increases with the democrats are having to try to do is say this cost nothing. Kristen vote for it. This cost nothing except it does. It may be paid for and so in reconciliation. It does not add to the deficit but that does mean it's free. Each item has a price and that price must be adjusted based on a tax increase or a cut somewhere else. They want to also give tax breaks to the richest among us. They want to restore salt. And that's complicating. their negotiations. Salt is the state and local tax deduction so you take all the taxes you pay at the state and local level and you deduct those in your federal income tax. The republicans have captured at about forty thousand dollars. Democrats had an unlimited amount in the tax code prior to the trump tax reform. So if you paid a hundred thousand dollars in taxes in newark you got to deduct one hundred percent of that money from your federal taxes and many times you pay no federal taxes and the result was that you never really had to appreciate your understand your state tax burden because it was all set with a federal tax deduction the republicans got rid of it and it caused a mass flight of wealthy people out of new york and california's result because suddenly they had to live with the consequences of their votes and higher taxes. Democrats want to restore that tax break. And by the way it is exclusively a tax cut for the rich and the democrats ought to give that tax cut for the rich and they are okay raising taxes on the wealthy so long as they didn't give them their offsetting tax deduction that mitigate some of the tax increase. But you're not going to get the tax break if you smoke. They want to raise taxes on on tobacco cigars and cigarettes. They wanna raise the taxes on alcohol. They also want to raise taxes on meet now. Remember when the binding ministration came in. They said that there was a big report out. That the by administration itself circulated showing that we need to convert americans to vegetarianism in order to save the climate and save the planet and with it turned out that that meant raising costs on beef pork and poultry. The by mr. We're not really going to do that. And now it turns out they are. If you're a farmer you need to listen to this. One of the items in the reconciliation. Package is a tax on cow farts. And i'm not making that up. It is real the methane emissions per head of cattle. If you own a dairy cow under the democrats reconciliation You will annually pay per cal. Six thousand eight hundred dollars more than the value of the cow. You will pay six thousand eight hundred dollars per cow if it's a dairy cow. If.

One tax will be on everything that moves and the other tax will be on everything that doesn't move. Yeah, but but small business, you know that have made it through the covid emergency. They're going to be taxed basically. The private sector. That's where we get all the technology. The innovation. Uh, that's you know, that will shrink and government will expand in control. Pretty much well, I only I only have 22 words two words to say to you Mansion and cinema. First of all, if it gets through the house, and you know, there's a lot of Democrats now middle moderate Democrats in different states around the country. Who are now looking at the White House and say to themselves. I'm not so sure. I want to be running as a Joe Biden, Democrat in 2022. They may have problems with this, and Joe Manchin in the sentence, says he's not going to vote for the 3.5. Nor has Kristen Cinema. So, um Uh, I'm glad you raise it. I'm glad you raised that issue because I think it's so important and we will talk about that. I'm sure. Um, more as this week goes on, but you are right on the money. You're right on the money here. I'm very much aware of that issue. Susan and I think you know When I tell you, I'm aware of it. I'm watching it very closely. And it's not gonna It's not going to pass muster without commentary on this program. Yeah, guarantee you okay? One more comment. You're going to nationalize healthcare with Controls, price controls and elections. Exactly. Uh, there's no end to it. This is Well, Steve Forbes, the economist called it a battle for the soul of America. Demoralizing work, you know, according to Larry Kudlow, uh, so much for the work ethic ethic. Everybody will get free stuff. Well, thank you. It won't quite work that way. Some some of some people will get free stuff and the other people will pay for it. And that's what's called socialism. That's where we're headed Unions teachers unions will get anyway. All right. Thank you, Susan. Appreciate it, Susan. A keen observer on this program. "But. There are a lot of headwinds, right? I mean, same headwinds party in power, all this was just Joe Biden's approval ratings are going down. He's definitely getting hammered right now. Afghanistan did him no favors. And neither has the fact that nothing has happened since that first stimulus bill way back almost 6 months ago. And letting Joe Manchin and Kristen cinema just tie things up and stymie. I think has been problematic and has hurt Biden. And so Democrats need to get their ass in gear. They need to deliver. I mean, we had a daily cost civics poll last month found that. Only 30% of Americans gay Joe Biden credit for. The child tax credit that they're getting every month, the stimulus checks. All that 60%, 60, 65% said that they had benefited from a government program and only 30% gave Joe Biden credit. Was that? We do a crappy job of explaining part of it is just partisanship, right? Like you're not gonna Donald Trump came in and gave me a $1 million. I still wouldn't give him credit for it. And I think that's far. I think there's that. But I think a lot of it is, you know, Donald Trump signed. He put his name on the stimulus checks in, you know, in 2020. Joe Biden didn't. We need to go. No, you know what? You play the game they play. Yeah. If Congress has a problem with it, fine. Like sign the bill that says that says you can't do that anymore. But they started it. Some people are getting checks. You know, last checked the guy says Donald Trump, you check the mother random people's person's name that they don't know. I won't probably yell in the treasury. And then how are they gonna give Joe Biden credit? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So there's a lot of challenges, but we need to start delivering for people for sure. And you got to give people a recent reason for them to vote for Democrats. And that would complement nicely the bruising to vote against Republicans, which Republicans are making on their own. Yeah. Folks, check out the anti vax, chronicles the daily cost dot com, check out civics with a Q dot com and also check out the.

"If the media was telling the truth about some of the dangers that are out there, not just an immigration but the economy and otherwise the field would be much more love speaking. Donald Trump, Can you talk about the rumor? That he may be running for Congress, and he would usurp Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the house. Yeah, Um, look, he remains, especially in the media area. The biggest media person media star There is today and you saw his. What he did in Ohio was staggering. The number of people That came out for that event and and because this is insignificant part because he's still eligible to run for president again. If he wasn't eligible to run for president again, he wouldn't get this much attention so he won't be running for Congress. He won't be figure in the house. The only question is Willie run for president again. And what do you think in terms of that? You think you learned for president again? Yeah, I think it's more likely than not. That he will, especially since it turns out the policies that he pushed like immigration reform and you know, being tougher on the border are the number one issue of the day and the country's mad about that. And also, as you well know, The Democrat policies regarding spending and others, uh, and the inflationary pressures that we're going to be seeing All of those things will make that the By not Biden is not going to run again. Carl Harris's underwater and so the Democrat party two years three years from now, so they could be in quite the civil war. What do you think is going to happen in the midterms right now? If the interns what happened today, Tom? What would what would what would you think? Well, Certainly the house would flip because this is the smallest margin. We've had an incredibly long period of time, and, uh, things are uneven. It's not It wouldn't take much Remember, Historically, the the party in the White House loses seats. So by all the normal markers, the Democrat that the house would flip and in the Senate would go back to the Republicans. Yes, and and what's interesting is, you know all of this falter all about, uh, Um, you know, owning the house and the Senate and and the executive branch has done really more harm than good for them. And I think you know, man mansions, part of it, right? I mean, isn't that part of what is it that the flight, keep a couple of things in mind? They Democrats know that. And their goal is always the government program. If it could government program goes in you and I both know and rust that it doesn't go away. So obamacare. The Republicans complain about it forever. But it's still there. So they're happy even with the slimmest of Martin margins to get a government program in and then keep it there. Now. Joe Mansion, of course, is in a West Virginia, which is is read as any state. In the country, and so he's straddling it. I also believe that there's an inner core to him that knows that getting rid of the filibuster would be with would be you know, Katie Bar the door in the government would just explode. So here and him and Kristen Cinema next door to us in Arizona, she would have trouble holding her seat as well. So the Democrats, you know, and they're keep pushing him. Yeah, the IOC speaking out against him, Um, other, uh, it's already be as well. It's already being cannibalized. And that's what we're saying, Tom..

"Lame ass Senators Kristen Cinema, and Joe Manchin. Neto, wake the hell up! Oh, and realize what is going on, because their refusal to end the filibuster This notion of I wanted bipartisanship will show me bipartisanship in Arizona, short to me in Texas, Short to me and Georgia short to be in Mississippi. Country and these two are sitting there behind D. C saying No, Let's keep bipartisanship. They're gonna screw the nation because of their ridiculous actions, he said. Lame assets Sinister Kiersten cinema. In lame assets. Joe mentioned. That's crazy. Is that supportive? Convince him to come on over. You lame ass as Senator. Of course. What he wants is the filibuster. So far Mansion and like here since cinema. They're not having it. They're not having it. They don't want to blow up tradition. Just so the Democrats could Russia you know, it's like they don't remember history there should say Roland Martin doesn't remember history. Again. This is all going down doing Memorial Day celebrations. Hey, Walter Martin. What do you think about Memorial Day? Lame assets, Senator Kirsten Cinema and lame ass is Joe Manchin. They need to wake the hell up backs up. Meanwhile, We have the Indy 500. And here's the report. Here's a reporter outside of the Indy 500. He is so excited. He is so giddy, but there's one thing that's gonna be very different than any other past running of the Indianapolis 500. That is the ability to get vaccinated. Well, you're at the race. You could literally grab a burger. Grab a beer. Grab your one shot Johnson and Johnson Covert 19 vaccine. Sit down, fully vaccinated. Oh, Joy, honey, I'm going to get some beer and hot dog and get a vaccination. I'll be right back. And the thing is nobody. Nobody was wearing a mask in the Indy 500. Is It Really Time to Get Rid of the Filibuster?
"Then there's also a couple of gun control bills at the House approved Perry. I'm wondering if this is doomed in the Senate, and then if that's indicative of other bills that are going to go to the Senate over the next couple of years and only to die because moderate Democrats kill them. What do you think? Yeah. I mean, we're the background checks. Bill was passing the Democrats in the last house on the defensive, because last time, too, in 2019 or 29, pretty sure and also move. Know where we're headed toward this big fight. And this week we saw what I think. Is the biggest illustration of it and where it's going to become most central, which is that you have, you know, you have basically three blocks of Democrats. You have sort of more the most sort of left where Democrats want to get rid of the filibuster and like and jetted Supremes Supreme Court and just to do a lot of really liberal things. By getting rid of the old duster. You have the Joe Mansions and the Kristen Cinemas. The senators who are putting on Opposed to giving the bill Buster, But you saw this week what I think is an emerging vision among Democrats, which J, which James Clyburn and Stacey Abrams both raised their two of the most prominent black figures in the party, which is that you shouldn't give her the filibuster for everything, but you really need to get rid of the filibuster so you can pass voting rights bills that protect particularly people of colors right to vote and the ability to vote, particularly in response to all these bills moving in states like Georgia, that would make it harder to Votes, and I think the filibuster fight is going toe feel about a lot of issues, but it's really going to be about these voting rights issues where you're going to see a lot of like black Democrats pressuring mansion and cinema, particularly and saying, you know, on some level, you may want the filibuster in theory, but you cannot prioritize the filibuster over black voting rights. That's where we're headed toward. Is gonna be this real fight in the next few months in the Democratic Party and buying so far is trying to say his staff's been saying his preference is to keep the filibuster. You know, people have lots of purpose is in life that they don't necessarily abide by and I think he's signaling maybe some open this to some changes on issue himself.

"Stephan here with Jennifer Horn, Victoria Qi Even and J. Kirshner. We're up to number eight on the story list. Which is the focus on the Senate. Can there be a power sharing deal? The filibuster is in the focus, and we've talked about that little bit right, then we That was that was a piece of it. So Chuck Schumer when it Budge on committing not to end the filibuster. So McConnell went to Kristen Cinema in Arizona. Actually, he didn't go to. I don't know how it went. But she said she wasn't gonna vote to get rid of the filibuster. And so did Joe Mansion. So he on a handshake with those two He signed the deal with Chuck Schumer so they can operate, which is good for all of us that they figured it out. Right. Okay. Number seven, the social media fan of the present the new this week. Is there Victoria the Facebook story that we had When we were focusing for the countdown on the top five stories of the week. There's no real I mean Facebook, his Facebook. These guys are all a bunch of Alibaba and the 40 thieves. So is the 133 Million phone numbers are for sale on the dark Web right now, so that Zlata from Facebook. Well, they were stolen from Facebook. Yeah, And the downside is once again Facebook seems to just, you know, have security. They have a real lack of security. And they've even had people go through the two factor Authentication, which I know drove you crazy last year when we tried to walk you through the hat on get even though people did that with their phone numbers, their phone numbers were still vulnerable, and that's kind of the lesson here. It's you know, you don't need to put your phone number on Facebook. You do not need to have it in your account. So security numbers don't give your so security number to anybody but a bank. And you only do that If you're looking for a loan or open a new account expenses, Social Security administration, like I always write exactly. I got that too. Yeah, I've been getting those this week. Don't don't Don't answer. They're not gonna call you right? Don't fall for it scares older people. That's all it does. And you know, and we already deal with so many robot. Calls as it is, so now they're just going to be another influx. Yep. Right. Let's see here. Numbers six. This seems like something that's been we've hashed this out until the cows come home. The police reform stuff of reforming government race relations. I mean, how much can you beat this horse to death? We've said what? "Like I frequently at the party and the movement, right? Right, right. Well, when they voted to do that there was there was considerable hope that McConnell would join, actually try to, uh, convict Trump. That's not going to happen. And so this is really turned on them, Um, it so it is basically impossible. Now that Shayna could become speaker. I'm a beast at this moment, And so this is a This is a real problematic moment for them in terms of their Their intellectual defenders outside of, you know, office. I mean, I've always been very, very, very barest on the future of never trump. What one thing to you has been a lot of ink spilled over Joe Manchin and Kristen Cinema. The The vanguards of the continued existence of the Republic T hear some of the commentary. It's a little bit overheated for me because they have come out against the filibuster of although Kim Strassel makes an excellent point, as she usually does in the Wall Street Journal. Oh, it's not just the filibuster you have to worry about. It's also the expansion of the bird rule. That allows for senators to pass things through simple majority by simple majority through this process called reconciliation. And look. This was used by Republicans in the past. As she points out, Ted Cruz tried toe expand reconciliation to non economic issues with respect to obamacare in 2017, and so until you hear cinema, a mansion or perhaps others. Say. Not only am I not going to nuke the filibuster. I'm not going to nuke the bird rule. Then you still have the prospect of them trying to move Marxism through the Senate by simple majority. Yeah. I mean, we don't have a clean resolution on this. Um, I tend to think that they're going to be under suitable pressure to eventually do this. But Christians cinema out of out of Arizona is really sticking their crawl right now as his mansion who is obviously, um, farm or afraid of is right flank in West Virginia than his left flank.
