"Rocket can A big shot out STO producer Dave Ettinger for coming on taking over to make sure that this show runs smooth. We got a lot to talk about. Okay, especially now that the Dallas Mavericks have beat the Clippers in Game two of their first round sarees Mavericks over the Clippers won 27 so 1 14. Luca, Don church. Does it again. Big game? Hey, scored the most points ever for player in his first two playoff games at 70. Okay, this is Ah, dude, we spoke about yesterday that is playing out of his mind. 28 points. Along with Kristaps Porzingis, who puts in 23, so we're going to talk about that match up in that game. In a moment before we went to break. We spent some time talking about the NFL. Russell Wilson had some interesting comments to say about adding potentially Antonio Brown as well as Josh Gordon. And if you think about who they have one offense right now, in Metcalf and and also locket Russell Wilson does want to open up the offense. Russell Wilson also has not had A losing season. While he's been a quarterback in a player in the NFL. I think if there's one organization that could take on Ah, Josh Gordon, even though they've tried plenty of times or an Antonio Brown, I think it would be the Seattle Seahawks before we get to your calls. I see Iran. I see a Troy. I want to remind everybody what Russell Wilson had to say about both of these players. Do yourself a favor. Listen. Just came in. It was last year, and he was just such amazing, You know, you know, just energy in terms of just having loved the game for a long time. It must be my guy. Just You know, I hope we play play. Believe, Jax. I know he's a special special person has gone through a lot, You know, And I know you lost brother last year in a year. I think the same time you know some of the places we think that he was one of those shoes in the game. You're really catching fire us going on. Antonio is off the You know, I want best receivers of all time. So you know any time you like that, you know, no is into that idea. Sure, we won't. They made sure And then we'll get you started. And you know our our divisions of tough division. Yeah, well, Russell Wilson has set up and down and up and down. I want to throw the football. I want to throw the football. They won't let me throw the football. They run it. They'll run. If they run it, Then they asked me to save them. Well, I think he's really pushing for change here. And so we had a lot of calls before the break. I'm going to continue taking your phone calls now, especially to those who have been extremely patient on the line..

"The nuggets raptor. Celtics. Clippers. Pick up the win a little bit of drama and the Clippers victory because I didn't think kristaps porzingis deserved to be thrown from that game he got elected. I thought Morris should have been injected as well for the clippers because he's the one who initiated this if if he doesn't start it then it doesn't get to Porzingas they're trying to stick up for Ludovic don-shik with forty two but did have eleven turnovers if porzingas plays that game I, think I think the mavs win it

Is Zion Living Up to the Hype for the Pelicans?

"Were in Dallas for the pelicans overtime loss to the Mavericks. Second night of a back to back for New Orleans obviously but we didn't see the Zion. We've sort of been spoiled by over the last month. So what did you get from Zion? On Wednesday night. I saw someone who had to go through a little bit of adversity. There's two different things working against him in that Dallas Game One. It was the first time he played on a back to back. You didn't see his legs under him. Early actually play but gets the block on Williamson Williamson. Took his time getting up court. You may be subbing out of the ball game here. He is drew and Lonzo Ball. We're GONNA come on up to him. Hey man you you're right you you tired. Are you going to play? You GotTa pick one. The other thing. Going against him was Dallas they started Maxi Kluber alongside of kristaps porzingis specifically for Zion Williamson two. That might have been forcing a psychotic burst that is just perfectly played deep that still by Dallas Cleveland's doing A. They went to the formula. That's been working. Which is the. We're GONNA get the tallest guy we have can defend him to do it. And then have another seven footer. Awesome plus footer at the Rim Ryan got blocked inside again. It's not possible in less. Cleber is being this physical and allowing time for kristaps ticket over there. Lieber six ten obviously porzingas seven three. Those have been the only really match ups that have given him problems when they played the box. Janas guarded him and then you have the Lopez twins behind him. Protecting the RIM defers Lakers game. Anthony Davis guarded him. And you had jovial and Dwight rim so that combination kind of went against his favor so walk me through a little bit of the process on the back to back portion of it because this is obviously part of the Adjustment For Zion. So where do you find the line? If you're the PELICANS in trying to get him experienced doing things like back to backs that he'll be asked to throughout his career and then also sort of adjusting him since he is still getting fresh on the court after an injury yeah so initially David Griffin the PELICANS executive vice president of basketball operations who should have a shorter title. It's a mouthful say every time I don't know I mean if you're going to have a title let's go big with it like if I'm going to have a business card the whole front of it's going to be my title and the backs. Just going to say fits. There's not not my first name. Just I'm pretty sure that's what his business card says. I haven't seen one but I'm pretty sure that's it has to read like that initially As I was coming back from the injury. Grif said he wasn't there. Were probably going to take it easy on back to backs. Now the good thing that kind of worked into their favor there was January. Twenty second was when he made his debut since then the Tuesday Wednesday back to back that they just had was the first time they had a back to back so they got to let him get games under his belt. He mentioned to his own Tuesday. You know I have to do the recovery if I want to perform the way that I'm capable of performing as you try to push for or is this your mutual agreement Little bit of both but I need a push for myself because I gotTa do the recovery of I want to be able to perform. We do every night with that. Being said coming off the knee injury there were reports that he was learning how to walk differently. How to run differently? I mean when they're watching him and they're monitoring and what are they looking for his indicators of his health very funny to me because I think George Sodano said that I think on ESPN broadcast and it just kind of blew up. He's learning how to walk and anybody who's been through physical therapy at any point that I for any sort of knee. Injuries foot injury. Whatever it is can tell you. They will relearn how to walk in physical therapy. The learning how to walk and run differently was more about little things in his gate that they wanted to fix. The biggest thing that they really wanted to correct at that time was how he landed when you go back and watch how he landed at. Duke with these huge one handed slam traffic. He's landing on one foot one of the big things you see. Now when he goes up for a dunk whether it's an alley whether he's just throwing it down to hands. He tries to land on two feet as much as possible. Zeile yeah that the to hand flush and a great entry fee for Lonzo Ball over Kunst buck to finish that would KUPA gotta be thinking. What in the world so. It's little things that maybe you don't know at nineteen years old that the Pelicans are trying to instill in him so they can take a little bit of stress off of his knees. The biggest thing you just said is nineteen if you listen to Zion. He'll make sure he tells you. He's nineteen in just about every other interview. I feel like I mean but doesn't right like we are so busy trying to make him either the savior of a lead. That doesn't need to be saved or the reason that we're over. Hyping somebody to the point that people ridicule how much we talk about it but you look at it at some point. Say this is a nineteen year old kid. We're talking about that is absolutely crushing in a limited sample size. So let's turn the tone positive here for a second you're looking at a nineteen year old kid. What he's doing is unprecedented right. It's absolutely unprecedented. Feel like every other night we were finding ways to start a sentence with Zion Williamson. Doing something and we ended it with Michael Jordan or Shaquille O'Neill or Tim Duncan or wilt. Chamberlain the goes on and on and on. And you're like that doesn't make sense.

"Well the bucks played the Lucullus Mavericks last night at home from the bus. Right light work. Well they didn't just lose the game. The maps had control over this game. The bucks made it sort of a furious. Finish to make it into a close game but it was just has porzingas and seth curry who carried the maps. What do you think about this big win over the bus for the it's a great win for the mass and for me it was a confidence boost for KRISTAPS Porzingis? When you join a team that has somebody who's dynamic is Don which you gotta get in where you fit in with the next? He was the number one option. Go to go to the elbow. Three line he was the all all star. Now all of a sudden the season starts and Lucas takes the League by storm. Forty point triple doubles and all of a sudden. They're winning to correct. So now you gotta get fed instead of the other way around so I appreciated that for him. I liked the Steph currys plant quality minutes. And he's putting up numbers but I was disappointed in the book's other other four Star Wars. Yeah I was disappointed. He put up forty eight. You need some help. Correct needs met they combined for twenty three points off for them at cal. How korver came off? The bench had seventeen points. Greek freak was dominant but usually when the bucks play. Well of course you compete defensively of course communication is there here is they're shooting then. Let them down. Didn't shoot well from the field. Didn't shoot wealth from three. "From Toronto Your Company Snapped Travel thanks for coming on the podcast figure for having me Yup you got a really interesting company I saw Steph curry was wearing a hat said your company's name in the finals after the game we'll get into that later in the pod but bullets let's start at the beginning of your career you know how do you start to become the person you are today we're when did that happen so I went to the University of Waterloo studied computer science graduated in to that has nine five and went straight into a big company so I worked for a Bell Canada which is one of the largest telecommunications company he's in Canada of course and I was working there as a software developer so they're kind of to a point in my life where I was not really happy working at a big company I was not feeling like I was accomplishing anything it just felt a little bit doc in a bit of a routine in a really wanted to do something else oh so what I started to do is started to just do some coding side project thanks so in two thousand eight I started to build facebook games so this is you know before a lot of people's time times but facebook wasn't on mobile was only desktop and people would build facebook games like Farmville was the most famous one right so sorry Oh facebook games on the side There was an intern who was also a bell Canada in also started to go facebook games on the side and then we started chatting and we said hey how will you make money off your facebook Games WanNa we build an ad network specifically for facebook games so that's how it started quitting Alabel my co-founder kristaps never went back to bell never went back to school and we started that company I'd Parlor in over three years he grew it to be one of the largest facebook ad optimization companies in the world managed over one hundred million dollars of ad spend and ended up selling that company years later well and it all started just with simple side project of building games that lived on facebook yeah I mean it was just it was just of doing something as a side Gig and it was the entrepeneurship curiosity in just kind of having fun with it and I mean you quickly realize once you start aside Gig especially if it starts to get some traction you'll very quickly realize how much more fun that is than your big company job in natural that I start spending evenings and weekends working on it and so just do this full-time right I was of course in a fortunate position not everyone's entitled Fortunate Position But I was an unfortunate that position that you know I was single I was living at home with my parents didn't have any major financial dependencies on it's all I got a mortgage kids or anything like that so I was able to take that risk I was able to say let me quit my job about let me do this fulltime in the worst case scenario of this doesn't work out they can always try and get another full time another full time job right I love it and we talk a lot on this podcast about just kind of the merits of I projects like there's the the upside is really limitless and the downside is pretty minimal I mean it's like you start testing something out you build a game like just something passionate if it works starts to show some signs of of working then great you can put a little more effort into it a little more resources but but if not then like you know there's nothing lost you can just tell society all your friends are like Oh yeah you know I didn't really spend much time on that it just it just wasn't for me it didn't work out but if it does work it's like this is the this could be something here yeah for sure I mean I I always tell people that like I mean if you're in a full time job you're the nine to five that's great light you should really only be in that job if you're actually learning in developing and you should always think about what you can do to learn and grow and outside of that job as well as after hours weekends I mean of course you could spend your time just hanging out watching TV doing what you need to do but William Order to make progress you should spend some of those evening weekend hours on whatever it is you're passionate about or side gigs in that's can unlock a great opportunity. Yup I mean this podcast was and still is a side thing and the way that I think about it is just like when I think about it brings I think about it being delightful versus you know my main thing it's still another start up but it's like that one I set I put these huge expectations on I think a lot of it has to do with expectations setting like a side project you say this is this'll be a side project and like the expectations are pretty minimal purchase your real thing you put these like super lofty goals and like it's tough to reach them it stressful so yeah it's it's it's interesting hearing you talk about this okay so you leave bell you start this company really well then and then and then you sell it like what was that like yeah well I mean there's a lot that happened between opposite starting the company and selling it one thing that would like to point out is a about a urine so but six months to a year into it I actually moved to Silicon Valley Capello does specifically and worked at a Sunnyvale for almost a year and again this was one of those sort of leap of faith moment so he was really just myself and my co-founder at that time we were just kind of you know messing around not really knowing what we were doing and there was this program through the Canadian government whether basically like hey you gotta pay for your own flight and accommodation but we're GONNA set you up in work out of this incubator called the plug and play center in Sunnyvale and you're gonna be able to live in work in San Francisco in Silicone Valley For six months I was like again what's the harm in doing that right so so I did that I spent some time out there in it was amazing when you use around yourself like-minded people you surround yourself with entrepreneurs Funny story ends up living with someone who worked at Facebook we were building facebook Ad Network so obviously there was a lot of opportunity in networking there and then something really interesting happens so we were serving the ads within within facebook apps and then around the time facebook launched something called the ads. API The ads he is essentially meant that you could now buy ads directly on facebook on desktop or on mobile that will a mobile APP programmatic buy ads on facebook in because we had done all this stuff with this facebook display not work because uh-huh I've lived with facebook sales guy I was networking and I was in that environment we were actually one of the few companies to get access to the FACEBOOK ADS API that was a great experience building the company and then new came a certain point in time where it essentially felt like the right time to sell the company and we were getting a Lotta doubt inquiries but more importantly the business was actually getting in order and heart because the facebook ads API that was more competition margins we're getting squeezed sale cycles we're getting longer so so we decided that hey this is this is a good time to to think about the opportunities that we ended up selling the company to add knowledge while and so you know I like how you're talking about the journey of just kind of not putting uncertainty ahead of opportunity it's like lots moved to Silicon Valley what what could I lose is and then you have this you build this deep network there people somewhere thinkers tell you what do you think if you if you didn't move to Silicon Valley the company would have had a similar dri no I I I really don't think so and I I'm a I tell everybody if you if you are attacked entrepreneur in you have the opportunity to go live in the Bali Whether it be San Francisco Paolo Alto or whatever it is like just go right and there's no there's no there's no beating get fine comeback come back to Toronto Build Your Business or or building business anywhere but you extended amount of time in Silicon Valley it's one thing to fly in and out and do meetings but it's something else to live there in network there make friends there because there's no place like that if you're a tech entrepreneur right okay I mean I totally buy that I'm seeing I'm seeing that now these are things that like you start a business and you don't you don't know and then you go through it for a little while I I have so many people who come to me and the asks me at all so I have this opportunity to go should I go should I not go don't even give me your logic don't even give me a reason even give me a pros and cons of just go right so go get out there spent some time out there is definitely going to be worth yet okay so you go you make all these connections you come back to Toronto Continue Building the company you sell the company is that like a life changing event or you like set for life after selling this yeah I mean unless I go and do something stupid yeah it was it was it was great I mean we actually talk no outside investment for parlor it was it was a significant exit so yeah that's that that was okay great like I am now you know

Mavs' Porzingis involved in bloody altercation

"This Kristaps Porzingis stories a little crazy, isn't it? Video surfacing in the aftermath of an incident in which Dallas Mavericks power for Kristaps. Porzingis was involved in a bloody altercation over the weekend at a club in his hometown of Liepaja, Latvia. I'm sure mispronouncing that. The Mavericks said in a statement. It's our understanding Kristaps was jumped in assaulted outside of a club in Latvia. Will provide an update when one is available source told the SPN the Mavs understanding was at several Russians attacked Porzingis who fought back from the club's security who fought back before the club security broke up the scuffled there. I'm looking at the video of it right now. It's the aftermath. He's got a huge gash on his face. He doesn't look at a sorts. He looks. He looks pissed off quite honestly. Here's my favorite part of the story TMZ reported that the men who attacked porzingas were upset that he left the Knicks who traded him to the Mavs on January thirty first due in parts of the all star being disgruntled with the franchise. Okay. So. A few Russian guys angry that Porzingis was traded from the Knicks. He didn't choose to leave the Knicks now heated certainly at the end was not really enjoying his time as a New York knick. But if these Russians are looking for somebody to pound the crap out of Kristaps is way down on the list of people when it comes to people who are responsible for moving. Kristaps porzingis. I would recommend that James Dolan. Not take a trip to this club in Liepaja,

"Kristaps Porzingis now, obviously, we talked about a hypothetical trade that Anthony Davis wants earlier right now update you on to still zero zero. So you might as well still rock with us here an MBA radio. But if you notice this Chris dots actually went through, folks. And it was a big deal. The Knicks received Dennis Smith junior d Andre Jordan Wesley Matthews in two future. First round draft picks from the Mavs and the deal. Now, Courtney Lee Tim Hardaway junior and Trey Burke are headed to Dallas with prisoners. And it looks like it's moved to sort of really free up some cap space for the next now the. Interesting part here is that Kristaps Porzingis did not just get traded and go away he has been posting on social media. Like, it's sort of like, hey, you're good. Now, why do you need to keep telling your well? Apparently he believes that quote, the city deserves better than that. I guess he's talking about all the drama with the Knicks. And it's opening I've seen those gifts like people smiling and burning houses like, oh my God, what's happening. And he also followed that up with my suggestion for Knicks fans is to stay woke, then he piece which is very international type of Instagram story. He's also been posting love to look adagios like kit, wait to play with you. I think there's even a picture of like prisoners and Luca on his back like a cartoon out there. Like, it's just it just keeps getting better and better. So at this point, Bobby. I mean, this is fun because I think everyone's trying to get in the mindset of the Knicks front office. Because clearly it looks like they're betting on free agency by signing two max players that summer. Yes. And no the no part where they had a week to make decision on. Pour zing. Purpose to either trade them by the deadline or bring him, you know, pay him a lot of money hundred and fifty eight million dollars. I know he had had threatened to sign that four point four million dollar qualifying offer which would be unprecedent based on how much he would potentially have to give up. There was obviously a lack of communication or trust between both sides and when porzingas in the front office met on Thursday that was reiterated again. So now, you have the decision do you let the deadline passed and maybe use the next four months to patch that up or you go out and make a move in trade them, and they did now the interest. The other part is that you break the trade down into multiple layers. You you got Dennis Smith junior and two first round picks for Porzingis. And then the other part is you created this seventy million dollars in cap space in that part. We won't know until this summer. Do they have to get at least one of these players? Yes, they do. They can't go over to their. They're confident the only way they would do this as if they were confident like, I know we're going to get somebody at first I thought they had somebody locked up. I was my feeling but just talking with people around league. This was about more about the future. And we'll see how they can if they spin it this summer if they miss out on two players. But no, I don't think they are confident that they have one player. Wrapped up here. The the hard part will be what happens if you if you miss out in the summer of two thousand twenty is not very good free agent class. Draymond green is basically your best free agent out there. There is a huge drop off. So I say that you got rid of your franchise level player who was injured for two first round picks Dennis Smith junior. And and hope that's what that's what it is. Yeah. Right now Ryan, are you hopeful as Bobby says that this is gonna be win win for both the Knicks and for prisoners? We don't know yet. Because if you don't get Kevin Durant in New York all heck is going to break loose. All right. That's about to be a storm over there. Like, and to me that's telling you that we are confident. We are getting Durant or we're just gonna hold over into keep doing, you know, allow the Lakers and do one year deals on your deals with guys and not commit to anybody long-term and see what we can do out the draft and move forward from there. But it just tells me that you're all in, and you know, what everything that I've heard about my my sources say is about eighty percent that Kevin Durant will be Nick. That is going to be a real interesting situation. Obviously, you know, you can't say that so early in the season you're going to have to see how the how Golden State winds up and how their season finishes and kind of his unfinished business of winning championships has done and if he's really ready to pursue. His own career having his own team or his own squad. And if he can get another star obviously to come along with him. It would have to be like a somewhat of a package deal. But you know. You know, it's it's a win win from the sense of, you know, New York is going to take their time. But I'll tell you one thing from Dallas standpoint, I wonder how you guys feel about this. I played for Mark Cuban, and what Mark Cuban wants for the most part he gets. And he doesn't care if you are old you're ready to retire. He's going to get you it hold onto you. If it's a DR Jay Jordan has slipped through his hands one time if it's Devin Harris who played well, it was traded for Jason Kidd. I was even one of the I the apple in Mark Cuban's. I would I was traded to Dallas and came over to me quite Kelly. Is that you know, right? I did this trade for you, it, I I was I was I was just the guy was I was so thankful, but you you gotta know guys. You guys felt as he had his Iowa porzingus and probably from the day. This kid was drafted. He was he was blowing up the Knicks saying I'll do anything I can to get them. Yeah. I'm sorry. I mean, I think that's probably why you saw the deal come about so quickly. I mean, it was reported at noon that they met and he'd asked somewhat quote unquote to be moved. And in three hours later, he was traded. And I think regarding porzingas I think we forget how good he is. And then that's the common. That's what happens when we saw it with quite Leonard when he was out for a year, and then quiet comes back. Wow. This guy's really good. He's a top five player porzingas is in a top five player. But he's certainly a top twenty player when he's healthy. And because he hasn't played in a while. While we I think we just kind of forget that he is good man him. And and and plus they they've struck out on free agency. Let's go back to cap space. Like just because you have it doesn't guarantee to go out and get one of these guys. There's a tweet out there that was it your is that said cap spaces. I was like, you know, what that's a good thing. Because it gives you confidence. Right. But it's not a reality. Now. I think and Ryan you talked about it everyone thinks that Kevin Durant likely to want to be a Nick because if he's going to you know, succeed some rails. Why not we don't know what? Kevin Durant wants to do. We don't know what. Kawhi Leonard wants to do boogie, obviously has a different trajectory as a part of the warriors, you know, based on what he's making this year versus what could potentially make later. But there's a lot of ambiguity. So okay before we go Bobbi. Do you think that this? Knicks trade was smart. Or would you say not buying it yet? I'm buying it. Because I think that where I mean if Kristaps had another year left on his contract, I wouldn't be buying. But I think there was I think this marriage was broken up that it had dissolved. And there was no way going back for either side. Yeah, it's gonna be really interesting. I'm really rooting for the Knicks though, because they need some kind of positive you now coming up next our own, Ian Begley, he's going to drop some info. You're listening to MBA insiders on ESPN radio. And the ESPN app. Stay with us. Our Super Bowl coverage. It's gotta be. "I'm here. Let's talk and from Dallas, Texas. It's ringer staff writer Jonathan sharks. I believe you mean center of the basketball universe changed. Our name. Yes. Yes. We will be talking about the Kristaps Porzingis trade today's podcast is produced and engineered by Bobby Wagner. And we're recording at nine ten Pacific on Friday morning yesterday had one of the most fascinating trades that I can remember with Kristaps Porzingis being traded to the Dallas Mavericks, and we're going to break that down from every single angle. The full details of the trade are this an next traded porzingas along with the bad contracts. Tim Hardaway junior and Courtney Lee, plus Trey Burke to the Dallas Mavericks for point guard. Dennis Smith junior the expiring contracts of deandre Jordan, Wesley Matthews two first round picks in on protected. I twenty twenty one and top ten protected. I in twenty twenty three those of the years that they're likely to be conveyed Charkes your Mavericks fan. Some lead us to you. Where do we start with this crazy trade? I don't even know like my brain is going and like a million different. I'll say this like so behind the curtains couple of days ago, we've been talking like well. Guess the Mavs ago after like, I don't know Gordon drug the summer, and I guess little exciting now charges, basically, like I'm completely resigned to the fact that the Mavs are probably going to end up with Gordon jogging and maxing out boogie, and I was just like wait what Julius Randle type like something like this completely lateral. Like, totally Mavericks type instead of boogie or Julius Randle. Now, we get the fantasize about how Kristaps poisoning and Luca Danni, which will play together. Did you see Carlisle's quote about that? He's like, well, it's basically like if Steve Nash and Dirk were six foot seven seven foot three just like, oh my God. I think that kinda sums it up for me. Right. Like Luca is like a jumbo-size Steve Nash in Porzingis. You know, he was compared to fair or not pre-draft. We have seen the flashes of that over his first couple of seasons. I think the fit could be perfect sharks. I think what I'm most excited about with like Luca and KP then I was looking back. At capeeze rosters in New York. Wow. Wow, ugly. And I was like well who was the best point geyser played with. And then it was like the ghost of Jose cholera. I mean, pre resurrection. Derrick rose, Trey Burke, four point. Oh, it's really pretty brutal. Dan, Devine shouted out Jarrett, Jack. But look. Yeah. Ranchera Jack the point is. That's terrible. Yeah..

"Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks in a mega deal on Thursday. That involves seven players in a pair. First round picks now is also get guards. Tim Hardaway junior, Trey Burke, and Courtney Lee the Knicks getting Dennis Smith junior. De'andre Jordan Wesley Matthews in those two first rounders, the New York. Knicks made the surprising move after saying that porzingas requested a trade earlier in the day. Whoa, jr. Earlier on sportscenter on how the deal happened. Well, really two factors here with Porzingis. The relationship. Between he and the organization has been deteriorating. Started in the Phil Jackson era in his continued. He went in today met with a team officials told them that he'd like to be traded. There was already conversations and talks in the works with Dallas. And what the Dallas deal allows New York to do now is clear to max salary spots for the summer. They got off contracts. Tim Hardaway junior and Courtney Lee. And and I was he porzingas goes as as the asset to Dallas. And now the Knicks are in position to certainly go after Kevin Durant who's been their focus, and there has been a quiet confidence around the York that that they have a real opportunity to get him. And then a second star, whether that's Kyrie Irving. In New York. Boston Kemba Walker in Charlotte. And there's a number of big free agents available the summer in the Knicks now have to smack slots as do the Brooklyn nets the LA clippers. So you have you know, in the two major markets you have among those teams seven max slots among New York and just New York and LA. Knicks president Steve mills said porzingas wasn't fully bought into the teams plans for the future. Which is one reason why the franchise decided to honor his trade requests so quickly. The Knicks will have about seventy one million projected cap space for next season. Which would.

"Insurance at sarahspain and Jason Fitz coming up we've talked a lot about the next. But how about the Mavs side of this deal? Sun is setting on Dirks career and Mark Cuban in that team looking to figure out who's going to help the team rise next. We'll talk about it Spain. Infants ESPN radio had to record around the horn twice. I we hear that Kristaps Porzingis. And the Knicks are worried about what what their future is together. Kristaps worried about the dysfunction and the tanking and now just an hour or so after that the deal is done Knicks send Kristaps Trey Burke, Cornelie, Tim Hardaway junior to the Mavs and get back essentially Dennis Smith junior and then two players in Wesley Matthews and the under Jordan that are going to be buyouts with expiring big contracts. So they can clear space for for presumably big name free agents at the Knicks believe that they will get we'll get into that part of it in a little bit. It's benefits on ESPN radio the espionage up and Sirius XM channel eighty Sarah Spain and Jason Fitz, but let's talk a little bit about the Mavericks side of this. They hope to sign him to a long term deal. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer, and they hope that he'll return from this ACL injury as great as he was at his peak. They're also sending Dennis Smith junior who was two thousand seventeen lottery pick who. Had some issues with with Carlisle and wasn't necessarily happy with his role primarily playing off the ball as look Donncha has emerged as the real playmaker there. So they get rid of a guy is not all that happy. But was a lottery pick and could be good for the next and acquire a massive incredible European duo now in Luca Donncha and Kristaps Porzingis as they say about Dirk Nowitzki, not too bad fits, and I think it's the versatility. That means so much in what the guys are capable of doing. And I think you can't you can't under sell the value or oversell of the value. I should say of what Luca Danni, which means right now. I mean, Luca is everything that we thought he would be coming into his rookie season and more and not only does Luca right now look like to clearly the best of the draft. I think some of us expected that he looks like he's clearly set to be a superstar in the NBA. So you're taking a guy in Chris tops. The obviously the Mavericks are going to have to be comfortable with with feeling like they can give him through a rehab process. But you're taking a guy in Kristoff was a nightmare match. When he's healthy. And you're putting him with Luca a you're you're allowing yourself to really put two of the P keys key pieces together when you think about what they always say like it takes three any three megastars sort of win the Mavericks, essentially giving themselves the opportunity to have two of those three pieces right now, and that feels like something and also let's remember porzingas is young me. You're giving yourself the opportunity to build for the next foreseeable future this way and Taoist, by the way, just made themselves relevant overnight again in the conversation. No matter what happens moving forward. Absolutely. There are some questions, of course, about whether this will wanna stay and their questions about him recovering from injury. Bobby marks ESPN NBA front office insider was on sports with internet Collins and talked about the Mavs saying we don't really want cap space when we can have a player like porzingas they've got to have a good comfort level that they are going to be able to sign him long-term. There is a possibility that he could sign the one year four point five million dollars qualifying offer. But that is a big gamble for player. Coming. Coming off an injury there. He's eligible for five years one hundred fifty eight million dollar max contract. They also because they had cap space. They sacrifice that they took bacter- Hardaway junior and Courtney Lee two players that have contracts that go beyond this year. But it's all about crisp Kristaps Porzingis in Dallas to pair up with Luca Danni. And by the way, also sending to future first round picks to New York in the deal. Dallas does not have the rights to their own first round or currently they're protected. First Rhonda was sent to the hawks as part of that draft night trade to get down shit. So those are future picks..

"We're second ahead. Allen told you this little journey that star. It's never fun journey when it comes to the Knicks never never wind up in a good place. It's not like a journey where it's actually it's it's it's like when you get your actually happy, you're actually miserable. And from a basketball point of view, you probably want to kill yourself. This the last hour of my basketball life has been torment. Right. And it starts with a bomb, and it starts with. Kristaps porzingis. Let the next with the Enbrel first of all Kristaps Porzingis wanted to have a meeting with the Knicks today to basically, let them know and him let them though, and then tell him where they are is a franchise in the direction like this guy has done a damn thing in his career as much as I love Kristaps Porzingis. He's been here now for a couple of years Nixon done nothing they've done nothing with Kristaps Porzingis. Nothing this guy because he sees LeBron James, and he sees everybody around the the guys who have actually one in the NBA guys who actually have earned the juice card. All right. He sees them orchestrating stuff. And he thinks that he's allowed to do it as well the gumption so Kristaps Porzingis played a second this year because his knee exploded. The previous few seasons hasn't done a damn thing to change the bottom line for doormat franchise nothing. They've actually gotten worse, right? Kristaps Porzingis has a meeting with the Knicks. Where are we going where we headed? That's the first thing that lets us know, and then he tweets about an hour or so ago porzingas left the Knicks with the impression that he prefers to be traded the audacity leak sources, tell Ramona show more cetera. Knicks are expected to commence discussions on moving him ahead of next. Thursday's deadline then the next week. The nets the clippers the heat the Spurs the rafters all among teams expected to pursue Porzingis. Then the next trade. Now the next week. Let's try that again because I guess he wrote that the Knicks are getting ready to trade. Kristaps Porzingis to the Knicks admitted happens even wolves makes mistakes Witter. So we deletes that let's try this again had nowhere. Dallas is finalizing a deal to land. Kristaps porzingis. The next one New York is agreed with Dallas auto trade. That includes Kristaps Porzingis Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway junior for Wes Matthews. Dennis Smith junior the entree Jordan players in agents are being notified a particular deal may include more draft assets. This is all happening is I'm on the air tried to do a football show. And I gotta tell you listen, you get to my age Tiki, right? All the guys that I grew up rooting for retired. I know I don't have any sentimentality with sport with players anymore. We're still a fan of court. You know, I'm still a fan except the one guy one guy who Santa Santa. We just moved into a new home Santa so awesome. He found our new home somehow fat, not even know the grid because it's a completely new property somehow found our chimney and dropped off this amazing. Life-size seven foot three fat head of Christie's of Kristaps Porzingis. And also on and Elsa from my daughter. Does that's what she wanted from San? They're not going anywhere. Now, they're staying put I cannot tell you the pride that this me that I hung this in my son who just turned four his first favorite pro athlete is Kristaps Porzingis crisp he act we were watching the night. What are you landed at three dunked on the Greek freak smug and his knee explode into thirty-seven thousand pieces and he's done for the year. We were watching because daddy let him stay up late because daddy's son his first child his son his first favorite player. Not Aaron judge a little bit too young for Sam darnold at that point. Didn't even know, you know, football too complicated for. Yes. Kristaps because he can say KP, it's easy when he was to we could say KP KP, Kate. Tonight. Yeah. Capeeze onto daddy's gonna let you stay up to watch. And they trade him at they trade him. Now, you're upset about this. Obviously. I don't know if it's more because that's not the right word. Okay. We'll distraught over his distraught over this because KP is now leaving the New York Knicks and going through the Dallas Mavericks that is officially an enemy, and I'll tell you why. After guys I was nothing is this a good thing though. Can it be a good thing for the New York? I yeah, it could be I don't care. So now that the doesn't matter now that the emotion is gone. Let's let's be rational. I all right. So Kristaps Porzingis is seven foot two three three worse..

"Could you imagine if james dolan just said no i hard phil jackson who's got all these rings to run this thing and i'm going to let him see it through and whatever and that dude woulda traded kristaps porzingis like that would have in the most unbelievable catastrophe it couldn't go down as like the worst the worst of transaction anyone was ever a part of uh so james dolan obviously get the merit for brigje objects in the first place but you know as the story goes it seemed like he kinda stood by uh porzingis right like you've got a if he's plant in the flag it was like yo you're not trading kristaps porzingis um after alienating carmelo and all this crap putting cart rambus on every bench that you've ever been a part of an all this stuff um i don't know man i guts that's what ran through my mind and he has gotten out of the shadow of carmelo and he has been even better than i would have ever imagine so far this year give me a thoughts on ah kristaps well he's played nine games this season in seven of them he's looked like one of the best players in basketball and truly truly for kristaps porzingis to perform like this i think it's ultimately just a big big happy birthday to jas concepcion today's his birthday kristaps forcing is performing like this is really just a tribute to our friend network chasing attempts ziane at all familiar i think posing as his mission was the soak so far the season's just.

"He began to ruin everybody involved in that team when kristaps porzingis celebrated the triangle's return this last spring who said i liked the triangle i think we can be better i wish we've been playing this all along carmelo drags him behind closed doors berates him tells him how upset he is with the fact that he is he is giving support support to fill in the triangle and says no no no it's not what we're doing here we're not supporting that were undercutting it having gotten a memo if that's not sabotage i don't know what is that is a deliberate attempt to undercut to damage a vision for the new york knicks even if you don't like it that's what it was were going to say no well there's been a long wonderful we had a long long way because i have you know it's been a long and i say not start thinking about it will just now what you were saying and it's like a shakespeare play is like a thorough has somebody in his ear and tell them all kinds of things he did sabotage but he has a personal things going on in his life if i if i believe that really was on top of his mind phil jackson also not one to ben because he knew what was right i said it before phil jackson has eleven championships as a coach to as a player he knew what he was doing i'm a part of the triangle we i got here i'm of phil guy i've been known to be a filter had made a mention where my boy brian shaw was at the lakers and they were like you want to run the trying who love girls i want to run a driver ed he came back got his job i'm not saying the sabotage i'm just saying in this situation if stephen a was here he be talking a rating and yelling how many things that phil jackson did wrong phil jackson would have been allowed to put in a triangle if we were implemented a triangle change the thought process of the guys get him think on one page we would be having this conversation about the new york knicks.

"Kristaps porzingis and the knicks and the fact that phil jackson has been seriously contemplating making him available putting him in trade talks and the knicks field the calls all day long and they they weren't hang up on people and they would want a lot for him to me you can't get value for him for everything he represents and there's a reason twenty nine teams in the league were in a feeding frenzy this morning even before i reported that story teams were aware of how phil jackson felt about it and bizarre reported monday night he met with laurie markkanen from arizona seven foot forward who who shoots the ball real well and who phil jackson i'm told thought could be a player that he could potentially take a number eight with their pick if they move to replace porzingis and he would use posing as potentially to get a point guard and then bring back some other assets i was not surprised by the backlash from next fans which was as ferocious of i as i've ever seen i just not seen many reactions like that and i think the frustration of nick fans of weather regardless of jackson seriousness how serious he's been about doing this about potentially trading porzingis the the fact that he's taking poor sing is down this road at this point when he should be out mending fences with him porzingis skipped his exit meeting we can argue whether he should over should should have gone in and talk this thing out with them he was frustrated by the dysfunction that is just.

"We do have some real drama in shame coming from the knicks in the form of the news yesterday that kristaps porzingis has been entertained in trade talks by one phil jackson and we played before these two goss rent we heard before but win a rent from you will receive on this very subject why don't we round out the try factor of angry expands it for a little stephen a on top of it we all know because it's phil jackson we're talking about the not that eleven top and as a coach but this novice executive who continues to show us all why he needs to get the hell out of new york quit fast and in a hurry this is a disaster in the making right here you're talking about somebody that was very suspect about pausing is be a pick fourth overall in two thousand fifteen nba draft because only because i have never seen a play and fillets owed us all we're not try to rebuild we need to pieces because we're trying to compete for playoff contention but that seems to be the only thing he's done right so we're not trying to build a member trying to rebuild in your now looks like they're going to be in that motive they would think about dealing kristoff because you think they get the asking price for him is sky high and will i heard it there from stephen a i heard it from still got before i'm gonna give you a chance to rectify your statement from earlier you had a a very impassioned rant but you stopped short of calling for phil jackson's job the way that stephen a instagram throughout afraid you want for you had the ring without five of attacks exnorwich there we go will reeve will reeve stephen a stu got sit try factor the try the triumvirate the threeheaded monster the hydra coming for phil jackson but it it feels deeply personal like everyone we've heard from on this subject it feels deeply personal ford it is phil i last michael jr will reeve who it is deeply personal for here because as bad as the knicks have been and i would argue that even if you lose kristaps porzingis.
