"Especially being from duck. Oh, it's popular all the pot pub, crawls, I guess, they're called or whatever. And and you know, what it is it's crazy to because Saint Patrick's Day is a drinking season. It's basically a whole month. It's it's it's funny. It started as a couple of days now it's a week. Now, it's like, you know, the whole two weeks three weeks thing because all the bar crawls and things people profit off it. So if I ran a bar, and I was like, hey, I'm going to run a Saint Patrick's Day thing in I don't know June, and it's gonna work then. Yeah, Jude screw it. But people show up, and they do it my girlfriend lives in Hoboken, and they had something I want to say, unlike the I I mean, I swear to God it was weeks ago. And there are people just all wearing green getting loaded passing out on the sidewalk. It was. It was a total disaster. It's just an excuse to drink and party. Yeah. Which I get it like drink and party. Whatever it have a good time. Like, you only have one life and enjoy it. But the day is an absolute train wreck. And that is today. Today's an absolute train wreck. So be careful out there. But here's the other thing is we have another. Other fitting trainwreck that's popped their way onto the scene, and that would be Mr. Johnny Manziel, Johnny football who exiled himself to Canada for a little bit. And he was playing in the CFL. He actually forced his way out of the league. He got them to remove his contract and by doing so he's now signed with the alliance of American football that new backup league that spring league that you've seen games on CBS in NFL network. You might learn what the hell is Johnny Manziel has joined that league. And it's funny because when Manziel when that news broke, I saw it all over the place. Johnny Manziel is one of those names that has a lot of recognition you talk to a lot of people, and I would bet most people that aren't college football fans enough people that aren't college football fans would have some. Idea of who Johnny Manziel is isn't he a football player? I could see that. He's just been in the news a lot over the years for a guy who so young. And and here's the thing about it. Johnny Manziel has been in the news a lot. But it's not because he's a good player. Johnny manziel. Frankly. He sucks he's bad. And I didn't buy him as a prospect. He faded out of the league. And here's how quick it was. He got drafted at twenty fourteen. He got cut at the end of the twenty fifteen season. He lasted two years. That's it. It's horrible. You could really say he was in town for about a year and a half horrible. He goes to the CF L. He sucks there. He's not a good player. But Johnny Manziel is a guy that gets a lot of attention draws a lot of eyeballs people will watch the af for a couple of games watch his Memphis team play because they want to see Johnny Manziel. He's a big name he stumbled that people are attracted to. Why is that? That's what I have to ask. Why? Yeah. He was a Heisman winner. We don't care about a lot of Heisman winners. Where all the blogs about Kris Winky or Jason white where those guys I don't I don't hear much about him. Mark Ingram was a free agent. Former Heisman winner nobody really talked about that. Not a big angle eagles need former Heisman winner. Mark ingram. No, it's it's just not how it went. So nobody cares about Johnny Manziel the football player. Everybody cares about Johnny Manziel. The human train wreck the guy who's going in and out of rehab, the guy who's had all these different issues. Police calls all this different stuff. He's been a disaster. The guy's an absolute mess. The truth is people always drawn to train wrecks. And so now the Johnny Manziel is back in the news. Now, the Johnny Manziel is in the alliance of American football who's another famous trainwreck. Doesn't have to be sports. Late night where it's holiday, right? It's a relaxed unbutton your collared Saint Patrick's Day. We're gonna have some funnier. Who's of famous trainwreck? Somebody just you can't look away from all of the ridiculous things that they've done all the ways that they implode. Eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four. That's how joined the show you can also just send me your train wrecks on Twitter at its Vince Quinn. Let's go to Jason Robbins Ville Jason is Jay Wright, the best coach in Philadelphia. I disagree. I think it's Doug Peterson. And why why is it Doug over Jay? I'm still upset that he lost coach of the year traumas that. Okay. But that's I mean, that's fine. And you can be bad about that. But that doesn't mean that he didn't get an award that you thought he should. So let's name him coach of the city over Jay, right? I mean, you look at what Doug Pearson video the Super Bowl back which we've been waiting for for how long. Well, yeah, it's been well, they'd never won a Super Bowl an NFL championship. So yes since the sixties. Yeah. And he loses his MVP quarterback MVP of the league. Kicker head special teamer middle linebacker left tackle it goes into LA each McVay and his home turf with the backup quarterback. And then not for nothing. Does it again the next year? Sean McVeigh still gets. Best coach of the league and Doug Peterson just sitting background with the ring on his finger. Coming back. It's still being under undermine. Well. That's that's true. Here's the here's the problem with Doug verse, Sean McVeigh is that when it comes to Sean McVeigh. He is he's the prodigy. He is the young exciting guy that everybody's drawn to can he be the next great NFL coach the next Bill Belichick that kind of thing. People just get really geeked up for that. And so it's an easy story to right? They wanna follow what they want to promote it. They want to they want him to win coach the year. It's just something Doug's gonna deal against everybody. I mean, you go to a party right everybody. Sees a kid. They see an eight year old. Like, hey, how you doing buddy DC a forty five year old guy? Like, hey, what's up like, they just there's just something about the for somebody more youthful? So that's part of dogs problem. But compared to the J, here's the thing. Yeah. He had all those injuries that Doug had the deal with. But you look at Jay, right? And he's dealing with players are not those top recruits. He's not getting the five star guys all the time. He's. Getting these guys that need years to develop their games any Volve. And it's all of these years of effort that go into building that program versus really what you can say is one incredibly successful year from Doug. Okay, year his first year, and like a kind of good year this year. I'm Doug was not a great coach this year. So when I'm looking at the body of work as much as that single year was really impressive from Doug. I look at the body of work of Jay, right? And I gotta say he's the better coach. I don't know. I mean, we're talking about building within and you got Josh Adams. You got core. People at the eagles drafted up. This is Josh Adams the case to make though for guys that were drafted here and are being billed out. Like, you could tell me other guys. I'm not saying the idea that Doug hasn't build anybody up. But Josh Adams is just you can't sell me on Josh Adams not. But if you ask anybody right now, what's the main problem with Philadelphia and the free agency? There's no running back. They haven't gone after running back. We need a running back. But you know, what knockdown away to win with the guys we have core climate. Biggest play were the biggest running backs we had and when we got the Super Bowl. Ring catches that ball doesn't catch the ball. We don't have a rank Jack Adams. He was good enough to get us to where we need to get. We got the same. We lost in New Orleans. Yeah. I like Peterson cooks he cooks his players that were within Philly. They drafted him, you know. And right now, the biggest problem is running back. But you know, what Doug did it with the running back? You had the running back we drafted. So you're just confident as well that Doug is going to be able to say they don't sign anybody does going to be able to make it work. And that's why that kind of confidence is why you think he's better than Jay. Yeah. I think Doug Peterson is the best. We have. I mean, he's good. Who knows what he's doing? And he has built with the players. Yeah. Okay. Well, Jason I appreciate it. And if you want to get in eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four pound nine four nine four is how you do it. I've got the pull up on Twitter. And I gotta tell you right now. I'm team Jay, right? By the way, I'm very much on team. Jay, right. I respect Doug. I think he's a really good coach. But if I got to pick the guy who is the best coach in the city. I'm looking at the guy that won the big east tournament for the third straight times been two time national champion, and that's Jay Wright. Head coach the Villanova. Wildcats. He is the best coach in Philly right now. And look at the poll right now, the vote is sixty forty sixty percent in favor of Doug Peterson. Which I'll take you think percentages here. How many people in the city of Philadelphia fans of Villanova? Compared to the eagles. Stay the close. You know, it's it's ridiculous album. Disparity that is it's like how many people live in Antarctica verse how many people live in the United States. It's like six scientists freezing their ass off in Antarctica. And that's it. It's a large disparity of people. So the fact that Jay writes got forty percent in an eagles town. I'll take that. Like forty percent, if you had the handicap Opole, I think Jay Wright losing it sixty forty two Doug Peterson is a win. I'm I'm proclaiming this a wind right now. So I'm winning with Jay, right? That's that's how you spin it, folks. That's why I'm doing this show right now. Do you could spin numbers like that? Jay right at forty percent of the vote losing the sixty percent of the vote is factually the best coach in Philadelphia. But I do mean that I I look at the whole set of circumstances. The whole body of work, and I look at Jay, right? And you just have to be so impressed, right. Amine year in and year out that guy the number one seeds that they've had in the tournament over the years. The number of times where they've just been really just really exciting. Their streak of killing teams in the big five. Really great program. And so a credit to Doug twenty seventeen is an unforgettable year. It's the best year in eagles history. But if I gotta pick one guy who's the best coach in the city. I go with Jay, right? So you can get in on that one eight eight eight seven to.

"Three months to a slightly different show in the month of December. We're not abandoning college football yet. Hopefully, you enjoyed how we approach every big Satcher day in the fall, keeping you constantly updated. As to what was going on across the nation in college football, just one game today the most important game. All army navy not because of what's going to happen between the lines in Philadelphia. But due to what's coming up for all of these talented young people as they are prepared to have the kind of service that many of us can only ponder and not to get too deep on a Saturday to fund show will always move quickly. And interact with you on social media. It's BW Weber Weber two Bs on Twitter as you watch the game today because it's the only college football game available and because of the tradition, and because of the history just think about what these young folks are going to be doing when they're done playing college football. In addition to enjoying a football game filled with traditional deep thought ties men Saturday, and I pride myself on having an energetic delivery, one of the reasons why I wanted to get into radio years ago. Was I connected with voices that would resonate through mile transistor. Yes, I am seventy five years old. But I probably older than you think. I am and that's by design. I am a bit of a football historian. The Heisman means a lot to me personally. So we're gonna talk about what's coming up tonight in New York City. I think it's a fascinating conversation to have not a contrived argument. We're not embracing debate. But we'll talk about. The relative merits of two and Cuyler Murray both very deserving contenders. And twenty Askins is not going to win the award. But he certainly earned the invitation in New York City, and he's going to be the best pro of the three in my opinion in fifteen minutes. We make the move to the NFL. We'll start the countdown to kickoff for a glamour matchup as always on Sunday night. Football game got flexed out a few weeks ago a showdown between a pair of division leaders. In fact, the division champ from southern California Rams winning the NFC west for the second consecutive year by virtue of their victory on the road in Detroit last week. Take it on the bears who are happy to have Mitchell Trubisky back onto the center after their quarterback missed the last few weeks with the shoulder injury. We're gonna talk about the other quarterback in this game Jared Goff who's at a superior season. But if you dig into the numbers if you want to find a flaw turnovers in the red zone. How's he going to respond to the best defense? He's faced all year long. And then we'll go from the top of the league to the bottom because it's a fascinating story. If you like train wrecks, you probably have enjoyed what's been going on in Oakland. With all of the hype surrounding the return of Jon Gruden. There are in the running now to have a shot at the number one. Overall, pick him back this between them and the Niners right now. We'll talk about how this season was lost quickly. As we focus on the silver and black talking raider football with Bill Williamson from raider snake pit dot com. Bills. Also, they contribute or the ESPN. This is a very biographical medium. I'm lucky to do television as well. A radio has always been my first love because of the connection I mentioned to voices in a time in which podcasting didn't exist. We only had twenty five channels, and I had cable TV I'm not talking about black and white in the days of the Dumont network. But as I think about why it was important for me to explore this career path as much as I really had a strong connection with sportscasters on TV because they were bigger than life and my guys worthy. Intelligent. Fellows out there. I'm not nearly as bright as Bob Costas or Jim Lampley, but the see someone with that kind of command of language, and that kind of presence that inspired me. But that seemed unattainable those guys were almost like gods of sports media. But there was somebody on the radio. I knew was in my town. And I wondered well, how did he get to be the guy whispering into that microphone or shouting into the microphone like Wolfman, Jack, and that made me interested in this occupation. And one of the things I wanted to explore as I started to become a big sports fan was sports history. So if you appreciate history you love army navy, Mr. inside, Mr. outside and all the stores over the years, and you still think there's significance with the Heisman Trophy. Now. I'm not delusional. I'm grounded in reality. I realized this war does not have the same stature as it did in the past largely because of the lack of professional success from. So many Heisman Trophy winners. And this is not a new development Archie Griffin. Only two time winner Heisman Trophy back to back Heisman wins for Ohio State. Well, he did not do much as a pro in part because of injuries playing for the Bengals. And they were a disaster. Then cut you now not much has changed. And as we think about coaches who should be looking over their shoulder. Feels like this could finally be the year, the Marvin Lewis is asked to move into a different role in the organization the reports a year ago at this time, we're wrong. He didn't get a two year contract. It was a one plus one one year guarantee plus the option and the Bengals have fallen apart mostly because of injuries and a defense that has been hideous. So it's not a new development and Heisman Trophy winners didn't necessarily have professional impact still there was that wave especially at the quarterback position were guys just flame. Out making the transition from college football Saturdays to NFL, Sundays one. Go through murderers row. Daddy were full Kris Winky one hundred and ten years old because he played baseball. Eric crouch. The great Jason white Troy Smith and at some point. The Heisman became less important. Also because there's just so much other stuff out there on a Saturday night in December this used to be appointment viewing. And I'll be watching tonight in part because I love the montages the old speeches the emotion of John capillarity years ago, talking about his younger brother who was battling a serious illness and the Heisman Trophy wonders who still show up get in that room and you'll boo sooner Billy SIMS in the house trying to root collar Murray on the victory. But that was then this is now so we could approach this from a standpoint of sports talk radio one one. I could split the baby here and say who should win the Heisman versus who will win the Heisman. And if you care about the view from Vegas because now you can bet on everything because you need more temptation and your life most sports books think that Kyle Murray has a slight edge. And you can't argue with the stats Murray. They're absolutely phenomenal. And coming up. We'll talk about his decision. He must really love baseball. If he wants to go down that road. Now, I understand the guaranteed money component. If he makes it to a long run in MLB. But since I did nine years of baseball pre game shows before I sold out and became a football guy. I give you a long list of folks who were quote, unquote, can't miss prospects. Hi, first round picks who never did anything in MLB and Murray knock on him. From a pro perspective is he's too small. Well, everything's changed now because of the way the offense is have evolved. Baker Mayfield looks pretty comfortable in the NFL when he's not six foot four. We'll talk about Murray's tough decision. Coming up. Should it be baseball or football? We'll get there. Coming up in our number two of the program. If you just want to make this a numbers driven argument advantage Murray. Now, you have to dig deeper and provide some context to up if you were watching Alabama this year. Well, if you hung around to the fourth quarter probably were investing in the game because other than a handful of opportunities. Most of Alabama's games were over by halftime that weird citadel game that was tied at ten at the half. And citadel didn't through a pass in the entire first-half in Alabama woke up and hung have one hundred on them. And of course, what happened a week ago in Atlanta SEC championship game. Two of prior to getting hurt did not do much yet a lousy game statistically of twenty-five. But beyond that over the course of the season. He didn't play the vast majority of fourth quarters because Alabama had already applied the beatdown. So his numbers were limited to a degree that he did not play the full match up. As Murray was out there for the majority of every snap for Oklahoma other than the handful of blowouts, if you wanna talk about level of competition because to a plays in the SEC Murray plays in the big twelve to face better teams. I'm not going to get into the actual strength of schedule metric, but I think it's just common sense to point out the two would did it against better competition. One other thing you should factor in because the husband has an arcane process that allows voters to vote prior to the season being done, which is just. Ludicrous eleven percents of the voters a year ago cast their ballots before championship Saturday. So let's just say that trend continues. Call a temper set. Well, you got to believe the vast majority of those early voters went with tour prior to a lacklustre individual performance against Georgia any got hurt. So he wasn't able to finish the game. Plus Jalen hurts comes off the bench in a reversal. What we saw in the national title game between these teams in the same city last year. And you know, the rest of the story. I would give it to to just based on a slim margin of I thought he was the best individual player in college football. That's what the award is about. But I'd have no problem with Murray winning it. I think Murray is going to win it based on what's out there for folks who spend time doing Heisman Awaji and projections. But I know we live in a eager or world got Abba take. I would have no issue with either of these players winning fact, if you wanted to you could split it like the old days of a split and the major league baseball, they're not going to cut the trophy and have so not to be noncommittal. I gotta give you a strong opinion. I'll go Murray to win. But if I had a vote, and I couldn't reveal it because then it'd be revoked I go to a to claim the most prestigious individual ward an American sports, you want hit me up on Twitter VW Weber Weber would to be straight ahead. We're making the move to the NFL bottom of the hour. How did things go so terribly wrong for the okay? Raiders and less. You think this was all part of a master plan by Jon Gruden to blow it up to rebuild it heading Vegas in twenty twenty because they have three first round picks coming up in the NFL draft. If you believe Gruden has any conception of what to do with those picks. We'll talk about the buckle. That is the Oakland Raiders this season. When we say Hello to Bill. Williamson from raider snake pit dot com next. We'll get you.

"But right now I'm learning so much. Need to learn more. So it's about who I get to work with. Listen, that sounds great. You gotta make one really good action movie over the next three years is a had visits works. Not how I just I, I want it. This is a good actor who's also great athlete like this doesn't really have very often. Cool. Yeah. Well, this is you have like your own. I don't know, not precipitive fugitive or our. My favorite. I don't even know if action movie, but like manna fire the late Tony Scott. I mean, that's like the drama like packaged in action pets. Like you're talking about one of the holy action bags. You don't like if it's something some saying, ask a question I it'd have to be in that sort of, I mean, that'd be great. That's like the ideal, but don't be afraid to make one where your daughter gets kidnapped and you have twenty four hours to get her just crank. One of those out kit, the big paycheck and then move onto this to the Oscar. We after that. So it's not selling out his buying selling line, and I think John with to so and out. Disrespect. My major say, don't sleep on the two side. Listen to counter res. That's my guy, took daughter of sixty hours to get her. She's somewhere in LA. She got to be in LA in North Carolina, and we'll go. We could flip it on me. I mean, I'm again, I'm open what sports moment I'm doing. I'm doing the sports show. So I'm doing. I don't know. I would love to like a sports movie drat. They, they're getting to like the the old school sports movies that we grew up with and they're not really making a minute was your favorites was wow. I mean, the. Trying to think. 'cause when I was growing up, it was like hoosiers the natural longest yard, bad news bears breaking trainings, all those ones. A lot of them have age that will. Okay. Now with moved into news actors, no, just like just dated. Oh, give it Sunday so that. So that whole era. But even the the program program was my favorite until I saw any given Sunday and if you serve it was my favorite until I saw Friday night lights. And what Pete Berg did on the night lights was captured the spirit in the essence of the culture in a way that I've never seen cinematic lab. I was touched by. I was in tears when booby miles can play no more. I all of that stuff was incredible. And then in the program, just getting introduced to the athletics is is like I mean he got game as well. I mean these were like these sort of these stories that you don't really get to that don't get told they kind of exposed the collegiate, you know, business of and I love those things. I'm glad the program. Yeah. Yeah, love the pro. It's a flawed movie that I still think it's very enjoyable. Well, the is eight. It was a eighties. It was early like ninety four ninety five? Okay. All right. Is it our backs really like thirty five in real life? Okay. Thirty five hundred. He's like Tom Brady's age. What about Kris Winky? Chris, who he was. Supposed to be twenty one Halley, various supposed to be a college student. She's like, definitely. She'll be what if she wants, you'd be you'd be respectful. I was. She looked fantastic. She'd be respectful. She could be whatever she wants her. That was during the key. The incredible Omar Epps sport. He had run right man. He did may well major late to which I, I know he stepped in for Wesley, but I say that's Wesley, but he was in program. He did love him basketball, the other. What to singleton attracts? Oh, yeah. Are you learning? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, that one. And then it was like one more. I think he had five, five sports sports movie characters. Okay. Okay Years. years. But yeah, that he had a run learnings of weird rewatch while I said that it's it's intense. It is kinda belongs to this mid-nineties air, but it's good. I actually lie ratchet. I was into it. I, I mean, like ice cube did he was he was fantastic in that fill the system school, you. Let me live..
