You know, Dave, and at night I exited the studios. On my on Friday and walked to Wrigley Field. The most interesting thing happened at the ball game, too, and I suppose it's been widely published. By now. The Cubs are playing the San Francisco Giants and the The third baseman for the Giants is Kris Bryant now So that was Chris Bryant's first trip to Wrigley Field was and he was due to bat with two outs. He was on deck two outs in the first inning. He's on deck. The guy in front of him hits a grounder. It's a squib, and it's a close play at first base turns out to be an infield single. So now we don't get the out. And, uh, fans cheer the fact that the Giants got an infield single. Why? Because Brian was coming up now Kris Bryant comes up and then everybody cheered and gave a standing ovation was kind of a nice moment. And it was nice to walk to Wrigley Field. So we left the studios here around 10 15, and we walked over to, Actually we went to athletic all first on Lincoln Boy. What a nice staff they have there. And then from there, we went from Athletico and with the folks from wax Berg's walk shot by the way in Niles, and we walked all the way up to Wrigley Field turned out to be about row 5.5 Miles. And we just had a lovely time walking through the neighborhoods in the city. It was great. Yeah, it really was the Kris Bryant get a hit. On that day. He was over at bat No, and did not get a hit at all. He ended up 44 12 12 in this series, and this year's Yeah, we traded him or whatever. I think you know what It's a good thing we traded him. It's just a good thing we traded. I mean, really, if you're going to rebuild, rebuild, if you're going to do it, do it so And boy, we got a real good way. We didn't get anything for him anyway. It says here. This is a note from Gary Carmichael, who walked with us to Wrigley Field. Thank you. W g and so much for inviting me to your walk to Wrigley. I understand that from the business side of things from the fan side of things. I absolutely aid it. But ultimately i get it but get some of these kids here let them play and if even they're not the kids from that trade let the aaa guys come up. "Healthy kershaw hasn't pitched since july third because of inflammation in his pitching elbow and isn't expected to restart is throwing program until next week at the earliest. It might not have been enough time to build up a trend traditional starters workload by the end of the regular season. Mookie betts meanwhile was placed on the injured list again on wednesday with lingering pain in his troublesome hip which prompted a return back to los angeles with to visit with the specialist. The dodgers are definitely deep enough and talented enough to succeed without those guys but perhaps not if they want to catch the giants now for some reason. The giants are just the best best team like ever. It feels like it doesn't make sense when you look at their roster and you look at the dodgers roster or you look at the mets roster something like that. Obviously the mets have been hurt. And the dodgers haven't really been that all that much either but oh my goodness like. The dodgers team is so talented. I just don't see how anybody is going to be able to beat them at number two. We have the san francisco. Giants seventy three and forty one as their record. Kris bryant batted three fourteen with a three eighty five and three eighty five on base percentage. Any five fourteen. Slugging percentage in his first nine games with the giants. Excuse me and he spent the majority of that time playing third base. That's not going to be so necessary. Moving forward with evan longoria activated off the i l. After missing more than two months with a shoulder injury the giants position player group is now full strength which is a very huge rarity at this point in the season and now when bryant's versatility is really going to start paying dividends for a team that has proven to be as good at optimizing matchups. Bryant also can help the giants in left field center field and first base and we'll do so to remain in order to remain in the lineup..

"You know like that. That's what boris is going to be looking for and he wasn't gonna let him sign for anything less than that. The cubs were not going to offer it so we all knew kris bryant was gone. I do feel like they'll anthony rizzo because in that same article Hoyer Cited kyle hendricks desire to stay. He said that he took a little bit less money so that he could so that he could stay. And i don't know if that's necessarily true. He did take less money. But i was surprised that rizzo wasn't like okay. You know. I'll take a little bit less this time so we can build this thing up again. If that's the goal you know because you keep reservoir around you trade by trade bryant and possibly even contraire as which. I guess now that i think about it kind of makes sense that they're not trading him because they're so shallow at the catching position right now. They kinda need him but yeah but those other guys with the same prospects and you can build that team around rizzo and his tremendous leadership. Yeah i don't know. I feel like that. The they could have made it happen. But i don't know i it. It felt a little bit to me like hoyer was like throwing those guys under the bus and like look. They did this themselves. Look at them not me. When you're upset yeah. I could see that i see what you're saying. I still don't think i agree with that. But it makes logical sense. Here's the thing about rizzo is i. Don't it's not impossible for me to see him going back to chicago. Could seem like he goes back next season. They do exactly what you've just proposed. They build the team around him. You know they've they've shaken up the culture enough and he gets a hero's welcome And they've got all these prospects now that they can throw behind him and everything. I think that's that's not outside the realm of possibility. My only concern is what happens with the collective bargaining agreement at the end of the season. And if the institute any kind of salary cap or anything like that and rizzo is might be the one that loses out financially in this deal. Because he's only got. This is the end of his contract and if if suddenly contract negotiations are completely redesigned at the beginning of next season. You know that he's he's going to be an interesting spot. Essentially those all all those guys could be because they holding out and saying you know like i'm going to be on the open market. I'm gonna be worth this much. And i'm gonna get it but then i mean if there's a salary cap those guys are not going to get nearly in anywhere near what they would have gotten either a in an extension with the cubs or be especially if they keep the current model with the competitive balance tax. Which is a joke but to joke but yeah but yeah i. I know they're going to miss everybody. A lot of guys are gonna miss out on a lot of money. And it's that's one reason. I'm worried about Baseball next year is because there are a lot of free agents who would Would hurt from it. So yeah. that's right. That's the trouble that's right so anyway. That's that's what i think. Yeah something to keep an eye on for sure. Those cubs going forward in fun though the fun trade deadline that was excited was it was really exciting and and it went down to the last little bit. I mean kris bryant. I think was dealt five minutes before. Yeah the whole thing was so quiet until 's right the eleventh hour man. And then i was getting my phone's blowing up. "Baseball's trade deadline is normally july thirty first. But this year it came a day early. Maybe that's why the colorado rockies did nothing. They thought they had more time for the rest of the league. It was a pretty active deadline on the buyer side. The dodgers picked up max scherzer and trade turner. The giants landed kris bryant. And the yankees up. There already big lineup with joey gallo and anthony rizzo on the seller side. My minnesota twins look unrecognizable. The nationals appear to be suffering through their own personal version of the thanos snap and the chicago cubs. Basically exiled there 2016 world series champions which neil foresaw just a couple of weeks ago on. Espn's baseball the night bus are only took this opportunity to consider how this trade deadline shapes the legacy of that curse breaking cubs. Team is clear. There's gonna be tons of two thousand sixteen cubs reunions in years to come. You're going to have chris. Bryant probably thrown at first bitches. Anthony rizzo like the last out of the sixteen world series. You do wonder how they're gonna feel about their legacy. I think perfect historical cop. The nineteen eighty-six mets a team. That was beloved in new york won one championship and then the question that sorta hung over was why not more. I do think for anthony. Rizzo chris bryan. It's going to really benefit them. It changes scenery to go to a different place because this seemed to weigh on the whole team. Now i did jeff. This take was picked specifically for this is are. We sure it wasn't a me. Are you buster only. Yeah that is the question now. I mean this deadline really does represent the dismantling of the cubs. What advice can you give them. As a as a fan of the nineteen eighty six mets. Well i mean it's interesting if you take away the the fact that i'm sure that two thousand sixteen cubs team did less cocaine phetamine and destroyed fewer airplanes and got into fewer Bar fights they are pretty similar. Lead comp I think you know part of me wants to say you could say this almost about like any team. Except for that yankees. Like jeter pettitte bernie williams team. That seem to win enough. A lot of teams that had like a great core and only one one. It's hard to win titles. It just doesn't happen very often. I mean you look look back at those braves teams of the nineties when they had maddox glavin and and all those in smoltz and all the great pitching the only won one title also. It does happen a lot. But that being said yeah. I think the the cops are similar. Eighty six minutes. You just go you know. Go down the years and eighty five. They had ninety eight wins. Didn't make the playoffs Probably need a wildcard back then of some kind nineteen eighty six hundred and eight wins won the world series. Eighty seven ninety two wins no playoffs eighty eight hundred wins lost to the dodgers in the nfc s and then the that was kind. Ed you look at the cubs. Two thousand fifteen ninety seven wins lost the mets and the us two thousand sixteen. One hundred and three wins won the world series. Two thousand seventeen ninety two wins lost to the dodgers and the ansi us and then twenty eighteen ninety five wins lost the rockies and the wildcard i mean those are great that's a great four-year stretch with a solid exciting core. I think you know the way the mets had strawberry good in and then this kind of they actually were more of like Put together a team..

"On the league's top players. It's the golden state media concept's soccer podcasts. Listen and welcome back into this last segment rate here of the baseball podcasts. Where we're talking about the cleveland indians and their and their story as the indians. That's gonna end this year and i'll recovery around that time as well But this in in this This season of were returning is the season of nineteen sixteen. So if you remember in nineteen fifteen. He sold shoeless joe jackson. The owner summers soldi shoeless joe jackson. That's hard to say. Oh that's really hard to say a lot fast. All at once but somber sold shoeless. Joe jackson at the time one of the largest ever At thirty one thousand five hundred dollars and by nineteen sixteen summers was at the end of his tether and sold the team to a syndicate headed by chicago railroad contractor. James see jack. Done so jacked manager lee full. Who had taken over in early. Nineteen fifteen acquired. Two minor league pitchers stand kovalski in jim. Bait begbie and traded for center fielder trysts speakers who is engaged in a salary dispute with the red sox and all three of them would ultimately become key players in bringing cleveland championship. Speaker took over the reins as player manager in nineteen nineteen and led the team to a championship in nineteen twenty on august sixteenth. One thousand nine hundred twenty. The indians are playing the yankees at the polo grounds in new york. Shortstop ray chapman who often crowded the plate was batting against carl mays and this is a and he had a unusual underhanded delivery it was also in the late afternoon and the infield was completely shaded with the center field area in the batter's background the batteries. The batteries background bathed in sunlight. Because basically the way that the polo grounds Were shaped is that it kind of looks like a big v and then like a with like a little ring at the top sort of or actually i instead of a v you could just say it's kinda like a built. It's got a bit like a diamond. Actually and the way that the stand sat is they had these big stands to cover the fans in the shade but because of that uh fans shade interaction the sun the way it set it would cast a big shadow. Like right over the batter's box. You can't see the You can't really see the pitcher like where he's releasing the ball and at this time it's also the deadball era. It's also another name for the dead ball. Era is the blackball era. The ball would just get so dirty and gross that it would just become black. Which is why they called it. The black ball era. It's you know. Obviously these kinds of things are not too hard to think of. Sometimes but ray chapman's in the batter's backs facing carl mays and at the time quo every part. Excuse me at quote. Part of every pitcher's job was to dirty up a new ball the moment it was thrown onto the field by turns. They smeared it with dirt licorice tobacco juice etc in it's deliberately scuffed sandpaper at scarred. Cut even spiked sometimes and the results mishap an earth co in earth colored ball that travels through the air erratically intended to soften in the later innings and as it came over the plate. It's very very hard to see. In any case chapman did not move reflexively when mazed when mazes pitch ended up coming his way the pitch hit chapman in the head fracturing skull and chapman died. The next day will becoming the only player to stain fetal injury from a bought from a bitch to ball the indians who at the time reluctant three way pennant race with the yankees and white sox were announced slowed down by the death of their teammate and rookie joe. Seawall hit three twenty nine after replacing chapman the line. And that's actually really interesting because that year just in baseball it really in generally a really did need a commissioner because they had a player die on the field and they weren't really going anywhere. The players were really disgruntled. And that's a why the black sox scandal happened and that and it happened that year so everything. It felt just kind of came to a boiling point. Which is like one of like the black scandal. I don't think was the entire reason that the and will cover this another episode. But i don't think it's going to be. The entire. Was the entire reason that the commissioner was stated but i do really think that it was part of that and part the ball getting all like muddy and stuff like that they needed rules to really be enacted somebody to delegate kind of things but in september of nineteen twenty. The black sox scandal came to a boil. And with just a few games left in the season cleveland and chicago or were neck and neck for first place at ninety four and ninety five wins respectively. It was ninety nine thousand four hundred fifty four and ninety five and fifty six. The chicago owner suspended eight players and the white sox lost two of their final three series. While cleveland won four in lost to in their final two series. Cleveland finished two games ahead of chicago and three games ahead of the yankees to win. The pennant led by speakers. Three eighty eight hitting jim bagley. Excuse me gym bag bs. Thirty victories in solid performances. From steve o'neill stamp kolevski. Cleveland went onto defeat the brooklyn. Robins five two in the world series for their first title winning four games in a row after the robbins took a two one series lead. A we actually just kinda saw a two zero series lead in the nba finals more nba. Talk on this baseball episode. That's kinda funny for me but The series included three memorable. I all of them in game. Five at cleveland and all of them by cleveland in the first inning rightfielder fielder elmer smith hit the first grand slam in world series history. That's kind of a big deal right there. Then in the fourth inning gym bag be hit the first series home run by pitcher and in the top of the fifth inning. Second baseman bill. Wam gams executed the first and only so far. Unassisted triple play in world series history. In fact the only only series triple play of any kind any performed unassisted. There have been literally one hundred world series since that world series and it has not happened again. That is literally the rarest play in baseball. It only happens one time at like. Baseball is a game of chance eight. Apparently getting an unassisted triple play. Is the artist thing to do in the game like out of just basic statistics like a barely. That is the hardest thing to do. That is kind of amazing. But the team wouldn't reach heights of nineteen twenty again for twenty eight years and speaker and koetzke were aging and the yankees were rising with new weapons with babe ruth and the home run. They managed to second-place finishes but spent much of the decade in the cellar in nineteen twenty. Seven's dunn's window. Mrs george process done had died in nineteen twenty two sold the team to syndicate. They headed by alva bradley alba bradley. That is a funny name. But now bob bob feller enters the season and the indians were middling. Middling team the thirties finishing third or fourth most the years but nineteen thirty six. They brought cleveland superstar in a seventeen year. Old pitcher named bob feller who came from iowa with a dominating fastball. That years feller said off a record with seventeen strikeouts in a single game and went on to lead the league in strikeouts from nineteen thirty eight until nineteen forty one on august twenty nineteen thirty eight indians catcher. Hank heff and frank paul set the quote unquote all-time altitude mark by catching baseballs dropped from.

"Free agent in the offseason could get him then for free. Sure, get him now. Get him now and use those two months not only to try to win a World Series, but convince him that this is where he should stay for the next five years. I'm a proponent of that that will take prospects. That's the right deal. Because the Giants have an injury hole at 3rd and 1st base. Kris Bryant plays And while Larry keeps errands only 29. Chris is even younger, even younger, so It's about the name your offering, and I feel if you like that deal, your eyes are getting big because it's a big name, not because it's the right deal and the right time and the right names and all of that. Okay? Mark Willard in for Papa and London can be are can be RFM San Francisco, these sports leader holer, I'll grab your hand. We'll go through this. Let's start. With Kris Bryant. In fact, give me a Carrie Crowley on the idea of Kris Bryant to the Giants. What's interesting here is that Kerry joined me and brought this up on his own yesterday. Prior to Cubs President Jed Hoyer, saying Cubs are going to suddenly become sellers. There's a player out there who fits exactly what this lineup does exactly what far on wants this team to do. And that's Chris Bryant, who plays five positions for the Chicago Cubs has no BP 100 points above his batting average and just seems like the most ideal possible free agent fit has a relationship with Scott Harris. It would not shock me to see the Giants go really hard after him, retain a bunch of guys and then continue building. The way they have over the last two years. Okay, so Kerry bringing this up on his own, and I had said before the year started, Boy, Javi Baez is an interesting player, and the more I thought about it, I fell into the exact same chop that I just said Larry did, which is that my eyes got big because of a star name. He's an exciting player. I love the way he plays. But if you go deep into what he does as a player, It's not what the Giants do. And watching him even in that four game set a few weeks ago. You can see that by us is just not as buttoned up of a player as someone like Brandon Crawford is, it's a great player. Incredibly talented, but it's just not buttoned up his mid baserunning mistakes. He's making errors in the field. He doesn't have played discipline. He's going to get a hold of a lot of balls send him over the wall. However, Crawford's doing that this year too. So it's suddenly a much better idea to think about Crawford on a short deal. Bridge the gap to Luciano. I'd much rather see Kris Bryant and maybe the Giants get into that conversation this month, as opposed to December earlier in the show. I told you that we had a call and maybe actually two calls. Um Of a play that happened in San Diego that could rival the excitement that Matt Vasgersian had the day before on a Shohei Otani home run. This is a call of Daniel Camarena's Grand Slam yesterday, a relief pitcher, young guy, only his second major league at bat, and this was his first ever hit his from San Diego. So it's a homecoming. The Padres at one point in this game against the Nationals, yesterday are down eight. Nothing Now it's eight to as we pick this up, and Max Scherzer is on the mound, but even down by six, the Padres are like, Yeah. Let Camarena the reliever, go out and take this at bat with the bases loaded. Take a listen to the Padres broadcast as this unfolds. Camerino to keep right field. Camarena, please it, Diego. Are you kidding me? The Padres picture that is brought up from El Paso, San Diego again to the Grand Slam. What's unbelievable. My gosh, Look back shirt. Ramirez and let you know what happened to me. Sandy Arenal, Pincus to Channel Remember presenters and the leaders for young soon tsunami, can you Okay? You got to grade those two and tell me Kienast mas.

Where there were people who doubted is Tom Brady, just the greatest system quarterback ever and of course, he could win because Bill Belichick is his coach. Times like No, I'm the straw that stirs the drink. Don't get it twisted and we're going to celebrate Because now we can. We don't have the mantra of no days off. Anymore. We're taking days off like Ferris. That's we're out here, do it. It's what Tom Brady is out here doing so I want to talk to you about your reaction to it. 855 to 1 to 42 7855 to 1 to four CBS. Once we get to the seven o'clock hour, we're gonna talk a little bit of baseball. I got a couple things I want to discuss with you. We'll talk about Kris Bryant, maybe becoming a Met. That's going to be at seven with one of our buddies, But now you and I get the opportunity to talk. Tim is in Charlotte. Hey, Tim, you're on CBS Sports radio. Hey, Lawrence, you know, never let anybody call you, Larry, unless you allow them to because I love the name Lawrence Finance him and a lot of people are like, Hey, Timmy. How's it going? I'm like, no, it's not him making him Timothy. So you're right on track. Keep the Lawrence name. I gotta tell you, I'm a huge Pittsburgh Steeler fan. And I detested the New England Patriots. Because the Steelers could never jump ahead of them. They were good, it could never jump ahead. And I never hated Tom Brady for it, and I was always I'm a strength trainer and physical therapist. Literally have adopted his training methods. Because the dude never gets hurt. And for me as a PT and a strength trainer. I'm like, okay, Wait a second. Why is he not getting hurt? He's getting hit Justus much. As most quarterbacks, but he's resilient. And The thing about it is I hated him or excuse me. I hated New England because they beat the Steelers. But he figured it out and he got great learning great knowledge from Bill Belichick, but he transferred That Theo his Tampa roots now. And it was exciting to see him When that I was like, Yeah, it's not a great game, but man. Dude. Has come alive in Tampa in a different way, and it and I sit there and I think to myself, man, this this guy has figured it out. I remember one Michael Jordan went from Chicago. The Washington Wizards with about a year and a half, two years of taking time off, and I was like He's this guy is amazing. He's not with the Bulls. I love Michael Jordan. So it was one of those things that was like you know what they got The skill set. What are we hating him because he left the team. And Sit there and I think to myself Tampa is I went to college down in a small town outside of Tampa. And I was excited at it as all get out when Tampa one that Super Bowl was like, man, it's a spectacular The dude is a winner. That's all he does is win when win and not He learned that correctly. But I love the fact that he was partying on the hill, Bro River, Man. I've been down on there. I know that River. I say let it rock brother. I appreciate the phone call. Thanks for checking in. I will dispute one of the things that you had to say. And it has to do with with Tom Brady getting hit. No, he doesn't. Because Tom figured out a few years ago. That if I'm going to get hit, I'm going to just fall down. I'm not going toe not gonna take those giant shots. That's what the smart quarterbacks to stick around for a long time. Figure out. Guys like Drew Brees, although he did end up getting that rib, broken and lung puncture Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning towards the end of his career. They just go down Russell Wilson's really good at it. He's got a lot of practice. Because he's running for his life and could use some help on the offensive line. Maybe he'll get some. Well, we'll find out how the powers that be in Seattle feel about that. But yeah, he He's done this bizarre thing and their questions about the methods of Alex Guerrero and his training methods. But there hasn't been a lot of smoke around it. Enough that it would keep Tom off the field and quite honestly, people, even if there were Some sort of performance enhancing aspect of what Tom's doing. For some reason, folks don't seem to care as much when it's football players. Versus Wen. It's baseball players. It's a very strange thing. I do think that it has something to do with The level of intimacy that we have with baseball players, partially because we can see their faces. They look like people to us. And football players look like Cletus, the robot and the records. I think two and baseball, I think they're more cherished. So the fans and more protective over the records and Don't want to see the records. Having this merged exactly. It's funny because that's one of things that will get into later on in the show. In the seven o'clock Eastern hour, we will discuss this. A little bit more in depth. But, yeah, I do think that it's fun for all of us to see what's happening with Tom. This kind of renaissance of him being Could you imagine? Like being that great? And and so good at your job and winning all these championships and still feeling like you couldn't be yourself. And now you get a chance to be all of you. You get to be the crazy general out on the field, and there's their stories out of that locker room, where one of the players Was crying. After winning the NFC Championship was so happy to just be going to the Super Bowl and Tom Brady like getting in his face being like what you crying about. We haven't done BLEEP yet. And then being the dude that's throwing the Lombardi Trophy all around on the boat. So there's still some of that. That Got to do everything to win. But you're also seeing like the flip side of it. Now that we've won, let's go have fun. Let's go have fun in an epic way. John is in Boston. Hey, John, you're on CBS Sports radio. A warrant's great show. First.

"I was so high on him as everybody was, but I felt like that's the career Cub Hall of Famer and now both of those things, there's a little bit in that. I mean, he still has the whole thing. Path just has to pick up where he left off. Let's say 1918 17. But he's not gonna be a cub, and there are some doubts about his injuries and stuff. I'm with you. This mean, I don't even think you mentioned you're mad, And I mean, this is all things in the World Series winning manager pushed out the door. So it is not ended in any sort of good manners. All things do come to an end. But what you could have done it one win another one or sort of slipped this in the right direction meeting. Okay, You gotta get younger. I gotta find some pitching and use some assets to do that. You know, Trade for Branden. Speak. You know it None. Nothing good has happened. It's all those sort of negative starting with, you know, the failures of 18 and 19 on the field mad and leaving and all these little things adding up And if they don't sign by his life term and or result, just add that to the list of Face what exactly has gone right for this franchise? I guess they found the next decent manager. I think we all like David Ross. But after that doesn't feel like the last one right in the last 1 to 3 years. It just I'm perusing the the ESPN Major 2021 Major League Baseball Farm System rankings for all 30 teams. And this is after the Darvish train. Yeah, and I see the cubs coming in at 22nd right now, like I guess you could improve where you are on this list. If, in fact you got a nice haul and return for Kris Bryant or Javi is somebody else but Like I'm not even optimistic about them finding quality young players to fill all of these gaps going forward because it doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of anything special in their system. There's another name. We used to hear a lot about Jason MMA club part of that tree. All right, Theo, Jed and Jason and McCloud was gonna be a GM candidate. All this stuff. Now he's been for gotten because of all those poor drafts where they weren't able to sort of find those nuggets in the 4th 5th 6th 7th round that many other championship caliber teams have done. So, Yeah, it is not worked well in the draft, and that is forced him to spend a lot of money, especially on the mound. And now, all that sort of coming back to haunt them right now, And I asked you if you know what's gonna happen in July. I mean, he is really going to be up against them if they're three games out or four games out. But only a few games over 500 because we know the division's not great. What does he do in July? I will bet you guys I will bet you in most years in that situation, he'd be buying. He'll still be selling. I can't imagine there in any other mode in July rather than self, because if they don't sell, they're gonna be left with nothing. Come 2022. Yeah, it's unbelievable. Jesse Any other nuggets? We need to know. Before we let you go. Well, Are you excited about Jack Peterson? Because I don't think we've talked about. I'm think we've talked since since they signed him up. He is different than sure. Ah, little bit a little bit that the overall numbers are the same. But I will say, Hey, strikeout rate is lower, and he can hit a high fastball better than Schwarber. So if you're saying it's an equal mix, equal trade Well, maybe he does something the team needs some high fastball strike out but less Maybe he won't do something that former brought to tail. I'm not sure what but neither one is hit lefties in their career, so I don't know if it's a wash. But here's my point is the offense any better than it was six months ago. If you're on Lee, relying on walk your type stuff, you know, meeting big years from bias Big years from Rizzo. Well, you're crossing your fingers because it's basically the same offense right forever for for Peterson, But maybe that's a big enough change. I don't know. All right, Jesse. Thank you Take care. There's Jesse Rogers on baseball. If you wanna weigh in on her Cubs conversation, 3123323776. And if you miss the Barkley interview, we will replay that for you at five. Listeningto Waddle.

"Good. I was just Connor listening had the Cubs fan and sports fan in general after seeing, uh what the Brooklyn Nets paid a pulled off. With rockets of the James Harden deal, and like If the clubs could replicate anything that the Rockets did. There are front offices and get all of them. Think I get a list of what you just said about Kris Bryant being like 50 cents on the dollar, but and I love bias. But like you said, I fully agree. If he's the best player, we get the best prospect back from that's what the club's gotta do. We gotta accept the few crafty years. Like the next 3 to 5 season. Next time to be great, you know, it's kind of it's a pattern of sports in general. Well, then you've got to make those traits. Now. You're not getting five prospects on July 24. You know, I would. I want that to happen. To be honest, I'm just ready for the overhaul. Now. Why wait? You know And she and what? When maybe 77 games and You know, screw up screwing up in, uh, trade deadline or whatever. I totally would want to start the season and just be complete, rebuilt. What a mess. The division is Connor as well, thanks for the call Kevin because it's somewhat winnable for any of these teams other than the Pirates. What's gonna happen? July 31st year. All fourteens are kinda refit retooling. They don't know what they want to do. And then you're sort of you're in it. Are you really gonna go for it? Because the Dodgers and the Padres air So in the East, this stack all these Teams. They're so much better than yours. But you can't give up a season like the Central is a mess. And these teams are gonna tough decisions between now in August 1st. But here's the other force that's working against the Cubs. Right now. It's you Go ahead and look through anybody's top 25 top 50 ml be free agents The vast majority of them don't have teams right now. So the question then becomes if the Cubs were trying to shop some of these guys around, you know, like like Joe was talking about her, like Kevin was talking about rather Is Well, why would we give up our prospects when we can just spend money on guys, and it probably won't be the kind of money that they thought they'd have to spend because of this offseason being what it is. Teams hemorrhaging money, a pandemic affecting overall prices. That's that's another really big force that's going against the Cubs trying to make moves here. For example, the Dodgers Justin Turner, right, He's a free agent. He's their own guy. You think they're gonna have to pay him 20 million to retain him for one year? No, and I mean healthy. I'd rather Kris Bryant and Justin Turner. But The doctors don't need Kris Bryant over Justin Turner. Did you know I mean like they, don't they? They're winning. They could win without Justin Turner or Chris Brian. So it's like you're right that there's so much inventory out there. Why would anything pick up 20 Million and give up prospects for it? They're in a bad spot with Kris Bryant. We have to break ominous, You know, sort of wrap up my portion of the day and Brian Hamleys gonna join Economy night coming up in four o'clock. This is ESPN 1000. You're.
