"Dot tv. All right let's get back to the show so All right let's pull this back. There's a book called lost alliance by a store by historian name of frank Kostic castiglia la data argues that the reason why the cold war happened was because the big three alliance between fdr stalin and churchill was split up so fdr dies in office and churchill loses his election to the labor party in nineteen forty-five. Obviously there's a lot more to it in his book but you know he kinda bright more about how the personalities between three were kind of keeping things together and then when those personalities Were disrupted or you know when these guys aren't dealing with each other anymore everything with the shit and that's how the cold war happened. He writes it obviously with a lot more nuance. And i'm just kinda paraphrasing him. But what i agree with. And i think what everyone's kind of forced to agree with is that fdr and stalin were partners during the war. And i don't think either one of them planned on a forty year cold war. That's that's crazy actually. I got to pick up that book. Because i had no idea that. Fdr was buddies with stalin That's kinda hard to believe. But i guess i mean something tells me though that stalin must have had like some kind of alterior motives you know without those time crystals to figure it out. Well i mean. I wouldn't say they're buddies just saying that. They were collaborators. Air working together as their partners in the biggest foreign human history so there is just some level of cooperation and apparently now they're to the most powerful people on the planet so that when they were able to work with each other to fight to fight in world war two as far as soon as soon as i don't know how har- how far but i can tell you that he was accused of being too too soft on stalin like forward when people criticize him. You'd be like hey man..

"That's a whole nother topic really is a whole other topic is measuring your impact. But what you were saying is that really struck. Me is that how art transcends languages and i think it also can transcend cultures. So like when you're talking about how someone from an african culture may view the mermaids plastic work that you had and somebody in china they may have the same reaction but they come from completely different cultures. Right which i think is. I don't know that. I just had an aha moment from what you said is of course it does. But there's also the the emotions elemental fit that. I wanted to talk to you about and it's what kind of art invokes emotions and so in your work. Of course. it invokes some of emotions. But i wanted to use some examples of your work of art in kinda just discuss it with you briefly. We won't go in like a deep conversation. Which i'd love to but obviously we don't have time so what i wanted to do is share my screen and just so that viewers can have an idea of what we're talking about when we're referencing a particular piece of art. I don't know if it offends you. Say peace of not at all. Okay my first question on this so it looks like aac. There's a free diver. But they're diving in like a sea of plastic cups basically and this was from your plastic phobia installation and was i just in singapore yes. This was in singapore. Okay so just a little bit of background here. This is a plastic cave created from eighteen thousand cups with the help of thirty volunteers and in two days and this was in singapore. So like what emotions are. You're trying to invoke in this particular piece. Yeah so. This is an art installation that collected eighteen thousand plastic cups in a day and a half and so. That's i think an interesting statistic because we don't think about how much we consume as people as a society in a single day and so part of the conversation starters because this is done in singapore which is a place that is largely considered to be an environmental leader in the space yet. Singapore doesn't really recycle. I think they recycle less than five percent of their plastic. Most of their products are actually incinerated or tossed into landfill the original idea with this concept as we were thinking about it and i was talking with the fellow artists on this project. Joshua go in order to build this as we thought. We wanted to build like a cave. That sort of felt like plastic. O phobic what does it feel like when these walls are kinda crashing into you but as we were building it we started to realize that you know what actually this looks more mystical cosmic than anything else and so initially started off like close tight. Cave ended up feeling more like a constellation of plastics. And so for me. This underwater shot almost brings to light the statistic which is that there are more pieces of micro plastic floating around in the ocean than there are stars in the milky way is wild right and so how do you convey that. I don't know. I just thought it would be really interesting to have. This guy. looked like he was coming in and is actually just a photo that's inverted so it's just an upside down photo to to kind of make people feel like he's swimming and that's it but with this art installation it was a slight deviation from what i normally did in the sense that the goal was to create a space that anyone could photograph it quotas inside up. It wasn't just my photos but the photos at anybody else who wanted to raise awareness for the issue could go in put a model there and take a photo so it was like a persistent gallery. That was there for six weeks which is really really cool. Yeah this is how i actually got to know about. Yeah to singapore's social to show on netflix. Upon that show is one of the season that show was a volunteer believe in this particular installation so anyways this that show. I was watching the video of how y'all put together this installation and at one point you mentioned that you were concerned that it looked to beautiful. Why were you concerned about that. Yeah well that's exactly what i just explained to you so basically the original idea was to make it like a cave. That was tight and plaka phobic but at the end of the day more beautiful and it was like it didn't create the emotion that originally set out in my mind but that doesn't mean it's bad and so i think with arts menu create it. There's always the idea of what you think. Things are going to be and then there is the reality of what happens when you actually do it. And so somewhere in the middle of that is actually what the creative processes. It's bringing an idea from something that doesn't exist all the way into reality and along the way some things changed. Sometimes they changed for the better. Sometimes it changed from the worst. I think one thing that i've learned is ultimately at the end of the day. After you've built something you get to tell the story of why reaping existed and so nobody knows the process The original intention was so you can always work backwards after you've created the thing to figure out. Well how do. I re adopt this message so that it resonates with people and sometimes it resonates really strongly and other times. It doesn't and that's kind of the nature of it. it's more important. I think to try and play in experiment and learn and grow than it is to just sit around and do nothing. Yeah you mentioned something interesting in terms of fake the intention of the process but the outcome was different and for me in my mind. I just assumed that the outcome was what was desired which is completely just unrealistic in many situations. But there's also the. I thought going back to when you said that you were concerned about it. Looking beautiful is that it would take away from the message that you were trying to pass. Onto those who are experiencing the installation that like classic is ugly. It's gross it's bad for the environment. Was i misunderstanding. Bad comments no not really okay. I think that's right. Yeah and i think it's a fine balance of but at the same time. how do you get. Somebody's attention if 'cause beautiful things tend to get people's attention. Yeah exactly when you look at the work that they create. It's sort of strikes balanced between beauty and sadness. I think it's something that i consistently tried to do. In this particular case. I was hoping to make a little bit less pretty and more. I don't know what disturbing like. I wanted to be almost like disturbing because it's idea of the cups in my mind. When i was imagining best i was like oh these cups are like tentacles like a lot of eyeballs kind of staring at and it looked like it was sort of discombobulated or felt like that was what the feeling would be but in reality it just ended up looking gala. More pretty. it was like okay. Well you mentioned you had like a confessional booth where people would what they would change in their behavior whatever. That was what the show wanted to do. That had nothing to do with my arms that was on the show wanted to and i don't know if they did it because i didn't watch the show. Oh okay well. They did it. Did it work yes. Some people were confessed. Default that they don't use reusable cups and from now on they would bring their own coffee cups to the cafe or whatever and cook. Some people were like. I'm going to be more cognizant. About how much kostic. I use some people mentioning that. They are guilty of not remembering to carry their cloth grocery bag to the grocery stores. I mean small little things but you know it's something like you said the other piece that was curious to talk to you about.

"What he's been part of this collision He's been speaking out against racism. Israeli society and bigotry and saying things that don't bring us together are things that we shouldn't be doing Which actually doug tells a lot sort of things that you can see how they in the end gone along One of the interesting things about said was that he was courted. By netanyahu offered him the moon Also the trying to get them into his coalition. it didn't work for two reasons One was that the racist that netanyahu also wiped it to the knesset yellen said no no no what part of our manifesto do not understand. We are racist. We will not sit with an arab party in the government. Sending get both to sit there but the second reason was that Abbas said. I think he offered me a little more than the coalition coalition. But i didn't believe he'd give me whereas these guys. I trust these guys will actually deliver knows that he has to deliver. I think for the community israel if he wants to maintain this alliance hoisted by your own petard bb. Well we look that that that future prospect you describe there of a more diverse more representative government is is really an exciting one But let's talk about bb So there's this vote. On sunday. Ben and i talked a bit about earlier. It was unbelievably acrimonious. You had members of parliament who were netanyahu. Allies booing neftali bennett. Your lupi ended up not giving a speech because he said he didn't want to embarrass his eighty six year old mother who had travelled down for this event You know people are getting ojected from from the room. It was a mess and then being. Yahoo gave this speech where he just sort of like. Burn down the place talked about all the times. He gave the middle finger. The united states and told american presidents specifically barack obama to go fuck himself which you know to be Reinforced all the reasons. Why i think that american presidents should be willing to criticize. Who by digress. But so netanyahu's not going anywhere right. He still a member of parliament. He's gonna try to clause way back into power. What did you make of this. This scene in this closing message about like sticking it to the americans and blah blah blah. I mean is that an effective message. Israeli politics that race be seen. I don't actually think that particular messages. I think that's something that's really important andrea score that has been saying over over israel unlike america parliamentary democracy. That's why you have to pay like when he doesn't just go away right. He becomes the leader of the opposition. And that's a you know. A very powerful bully pulpit. Let's all right He is at a political leader now. Still in israeli is just a different political leader. You know when foreign dignitaries comes they're gonna visit him to and just like you to understand the card coalition. It's a parliamentary democracy and say coalition. And so you can look at the guy who's in the front like better but you really got to look at all the people behind it. Right and those are like senator and left wing ministers and that tells you what benefits freedom of action. It's but to return to the now. He definitely was trying to solve the earth between the american government and the new israeli government Because it would actually be quite bad for him if they started getting along better because he said that what's necessary is sort of partisan kostic of approach. That he's taken and that. I did this because it was necessary for social security and its survival and so on and if it turns out that that's not true right and it turns out that these countries can't get along. They can compromise a little. Bit right and sky does not fall right. That's a real rat rebuke to and so. He doesn't want that to happen. Something else that. I wonder if we'll see him. Try to do is also see him. Try to solve your between the new government and the republican party which has been very closely identify with your now particularly during the trump years. And they're seeing their guy go out of power and so what does he. What message does he said to them as you say well you know you need to support israel no matter what government is empowering. You should like work with this government or doesn't it tell you who say well you know they're going to be gone soon off the top of this government. It's pretty fractious already. And then i'll be back right so you know they're pretenders. Don't really pay attention to them and again being probe is being pro israel. That's sort of message right. And it's going to be interesting to see which of those messages resonates more. Whether it's being pro-israel means being pro. Who's empowered who is rallies have chosen right versus being pros being probaby which those republicans stakeholders choose And we started. We seem both but we've seen some republicans already congratulate new government and saying we look forward to live with you and then we'll see people like matt gets tweeting That you know this whole government is just united by and they're going to you know persecuted y'all but he's going to be back because they don't have anything holding together. Which is something we should talk about right around with all this factor stuff right so we're going to see that break. I think the republican party see how shakes out matt. Gaetz is price should worry about his own prosecution and not a that. This government is going to try to railroad. Netanyahu what there are all these corruption cases against bb netanyahu and by the way like on this broader point of trying to drive a wedge between the us in israel. I was struck by netanyahu's tone as compared to your lupita like republicans and democrats are when they talk about the us commitment to israel. They really do mean the country. And they don't mean to the man. Bb netanyahu unless you're currently living at mar-a-lago but i don i. This is not a bad. I would take if netanyahu but digress so the corruption cases. Bb tried to pass legislation to protect yourself from prosecution. Seem like maybe one of the reasons he was clinging to power so desperately does his ouster From the prime ministership changed the process. Or the timeline for any of these cases at all cata data work. Yeah so is independent. Judiciary this cases of the system and Basically there is nothing that anyone's going to do to affect it. It's going to move at the pace is going gonna move. There's a tremendous amount of documentation because there are multiple cases there's years and years investigated materials and very good players. Who are betting everything and squeezing it with an soliciting could drag out for years which is also part of. Because he's like okay. So this is a setback for me. But if i can get this government to fall can always come back into power and then we're back to work And so this is far from hitting his from his perspective. I don't think he's wrong. This is far from over And it's also why did a lot to sort of de-legitimize government attack it's Boniface but in the end he handed over power. Did not try to you..

"Like with a couple of deadpool movies and a whole history of deadpool comics in like deadpool in cable which was like one of my favorite series. They ran for a little while. Yeah it was a wild because the guy was just like in this book was anonymous. Basically he was just another like costume person to fight and oh he has some weird powers that were definitely gonna talk about later but not right now. He's focused exactly dude with a healing factor. That can take a punch like. That's yeah he did that very well. I think in this but yeah it was. It was weird seeing it. Because we're so attached to deadpool nowadays earliest. I am like you know better worse. Those movies have just one pretend to be into it. Deadpool fan Yeah no. I hear that zach. This is your first experience reading a deadpool comic. I wanna say is that correct. I love at least yeah. And i haven't read that much more. I've read like an issue here. They are but i have not dived into deadpool. I think the most. I've read is the like sit like nine hundred ninety nine series like in the marvel knights era. I think that. Joe kelly's run nine. Yeah sure that really becomes deadpool. I think in the wait. A lot of people think of them Which won't spoil anything obviously but like okay. What did you think then of of this issue which you know again like big picture of very much fits into the progression of post extinction agenda. So that's the that's the crossover event that we covered at the first part of nineteen ninety one that that the positive way of reading it in terms of characterization i think is extinction agenda in what cable saw on june osha. Really changes him because he goes to the island that is all about enslaving mutants. They bear like them in the x. Men and all the mutants that are there they barely make it out right. They all like one of his soldiers. Rain sinclair's turn into a mutate. One of his or one of his students. I should say is another student warlock. He's he dies. Another kid died on the nubians. Watch things are going badly for professor cable. So his reaction to that is to transition out and say all right forget it. It's all war all the time we need to get these kids into soldiers and that idea. I think kind of works. And that's kind of the backdrop of these three issues but all right. I'll toss us ac. What did you think of comic. And what did you think of cable transition. And also like the introduction of deadpool here Deadpool asserted deadpool Did i don't think he would make much of an impression. If i didn't know him already and already primed to know that like this is not the dead pool that he becomes so it was kind of expecting it. It wasn't like disappointing. Because i already expected that It's fine. I'm i'm not that invested in lie-filled bill kostic characters yet cool cost although we have to talk about it when we when life else sent. Fabian nikki asia the artwork for deadpool and was like here's a new character um introducing negi as wrote back and wrote this. Is death stroke from teen titans.

"Italica michael jackson's at tonight matthew. I won't through the whole by the welcome to the show mauri. I put it out some of that. Right yeah tankers. Months sounded good to me. Y'all not sort of into the funding of the the english american canada australia. It's not so bad. But trying to the european languages like finland sweden especially the nordic countries and then and then the german country. It's very hard for people well. No that's fine lettuce really hard. Language might claim to fame is mentioned when a. Come onto the show. If i been somewhere. The money guys helsinki. When i was younger probably before i was before i got my said sometime late. Eighties early nineties. I haven't actually been since which is annoying him But when i went on a european tour of your by ryo and it bought me to their the sweden finland ferry. And then when all over shipment as much as i could because i just like the cold countries because of snow and rain devon yet types to do the big one though the sweden to naff rick norway or is it no way so i know nobody never know nobody. I am trying because it's a very special area. Yeah trying to. I'd even yet is sweden. Finland is the i like code. But i don't like to cold and of finland's reminds me of the gateway to russia in a way so it tends to get more codes that way. Yeah so after chair south up with myself up with medicinal and then maybe a music. Yeah you control what. What made you choose. music in. The first place was after the relationship. Bow down before. Well i've been doing music for twenty five years now so i've been doing it always but this solo album came kind of when my life changed a lot so these neo kind of falke song started coming out so i decided to make a solo album because previously had done like metal music. So it's really different from that so kostic more music. While have you played any webs of life Before the pandemic while are you planning after Planning after i didn't have the chance to play this solo album stuff live yet. I played last couple of private so Before the whole thing started. But now i'm just waiting things to open up so but before i played like i conduct like five hundred showed with different than wow. It must i dunno. I mean imagine. If i was in a band would it be better with a band. Because you've got everybody helping you with the music and the vocals may be or is it better on your own. I mean i guess. It's a bit like bus tickets. Five boasts is more expensive than the one bus. Being on your own. You can please yourself. You don't have to confirm with the rest of the band. You know the the People flexible but then you lose the support of the vocals instruments. I guess one of them. It's one of funds his solely singers. Yeah well. I kind of like both ways of working when working with the band two. There's the social aspect and the interaction between musicians and when you do solo stuff. You're just by yourself so you don't have that interaction between different instruments and play instruments by yourself after you recorded the vocals guitars and when you play live you're always always on your own so but maybe i add some musicians for these on the way so it was fun to play with other people and you probably have to make your own. Coffee is yeah. Now you can do by so i mean you. Most people do say they do their solo stuff in they they do. The bounced off as well so cushion used to playing with different bands. I guess for you. This is easy and now abundant. It's because if you want to know that yeah yeah. That's good thing to write your own song lyrics so makes things easier kind of by the way one of the pictures out. Just it reminds me of probably the little bit of Did do news nice now. Event the farthest Magic about a father in finland when is no snow. It's truly beautiful in the summertime. We made this. Love will prevail music video last july. Think and my daughter was two years old on that one test yesterday. She turned three years bile. Yeah clearly have been mcbain. Good now they say terrible twos but but in the freezer. Getting better behaved yeah. I don't know he's so great and it's a big experience for me to become a father at porty and it has really affected my music writing as well. Kind of opening up new doors in life and making a tink of things like in a different way forty When she becomes eighteen you been almost a pension of severe. He has scabby that wii. But in another way you'll have more experience to give her now forty that she can learn from and then later on michael own judgment mistakes or happiness I love these photos. You that when you in dark looms and and some of them like deserted properties may not be but they look like they are. Yeah there was one where we thought this music video for the title song. Dreams of a middle aged man. There was this burnt house so it made really nice like black backgrounds for the music video. And the bdo where i am in with my daughter rates also saw tina burnt forest was like a huge area forest burnt in norton finland so sheltered there just seen when you have videos them poison woman. Yeah that's s lyric deal. Very.

"P.m. through the playoffs. TJ, It's Howard and Brayton. Good morning. How you doing? Hi, guys. How you doing? Our We've done this for a long time. So it's just more more good news. You probably you know, you used to actually come on with us. When the sabers were playing playoff games you might not remember. But I do remember. I remember that. Yes, that was a long time ago now. So what are your thoughts as an outsider, so to speak from a national perspective on the stuff that happened with Michael this weekend? What's going on up here right now? Well, it was, uh, minutes surprising right that a player was so out, spoken publicly about the situation, but it just goes to show you where Relationship is right now and also our baby. Will you read up on what the discussion is about this injury and how you know he wants to go about treatment. I mean, I I understand the concern of the team. And I also certainly understand the player wanting to do what he thinks is right for for his body and his career. So this is this is Putting unique and understandable, I think on both sides in the C B. A, uh indicates that the team does have more say these days with the changes in the TV over time. They have a little more say on these matters, or maybe a lot for say. And he's got his show. What I think this is a really unique and difficult in past, and I'll be curious to see how that part of it is results. But there's been a lot of water under the bridge between Jack Eichel on the Buffalo sabers. I don't tell you guys I go all the way back to the very, very start when? At the draft lottery, Tim Murray, who was then the GM of the Sabers, uh upon The results, becoming official and the sabers getting a second pick. Don't do it, like just be upset about the process. Instead of welcoming the fact that likely we're going to end up with Jack Eichel. And I think if I was cycle at that time, I would have been why this wasn't the response I was expecting. So right from the start. It seemed like You know, there's been some challenges in that relationship I wanted. I'd like to ask you get your thoughts, You know if they trade and what the market would be like, and I think either way, EJ This was a discussion that was trending the way the season was playing out because again another losing season last overall, another coaching change, and I think no matter what I call would have been asked been asked by the media. Do you want to be here and deal with this anymore? But You know the injury situation and what he said about the disconnect just added another layer to this discussion. So having said all of that, if the sabers to decide to trade Jack Eichel this off season Factoring in the injury situation. What is the market for Jack Eichel? What would it be like? Well, I think the biggest thing is the injury right and what the medicals are and how how comfortable in the routine would be in the making that move, so We know what he is the player. I mean, he's still a young guy. He's a big man. When he's healthy and going. He's one of the top offensive players in this league. So and he's a settlement. So I think a lot of teams would Would certainly be willing T O pay a lot to get him. I mean, I I could imagine if you're in Anaheim. Let's say, you know, maybe you'd be willing to give up Trevor's egoist and maybe another. Good defenseman, maybe a good defense and what secrets And then maybe a kick The fighting on the medical this year in l A. I mean, maybe you willing to trade acquitted by field who was second overall text. Last year, and I'm not a couple of other good young prospects on draft picks together. I mean, this is a significant significant player. And if you're the buffalo sabers, you've got to get You've got to get some serious absence in return, and if you're going to do this process and again if the medicals are favorable and the market in that, you know when there's not a concern that he's not gonna be able to Play at the highest level. I would think you were going to be able to create a pretty good auction amongst teams that have ah lot that would be willing tol big, quite a bit to get his services. We're with EJ erratic from NHL network EJ to the Stanley Cup playoffs. First round Syria's air all set Now Is there a most interesting syriza or maybe even a couple seriously. You look at and gold that it's more intriguing than the others. I think they're all pretty darn good job this with longing, you know, like from a friend in my own home. From my personal standpoint, I think Toronto or Montreal plane is kind of cool, because I mean, I mean, we're having them on my fight Table Hockey Ronald Monkey on the old metal players, right? Not the plastic players, the metal players. That's right, 100 years ago when I had that, you know when I had that table hockey, he was Toronto, Montreal, and we don't see that too often. So that's kind of cool. I think the battle of Florida I mean, there's a totally different thing. You have all the Lord legend of original six teams in Canada, Montreal and Toronto. And then you have the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning and the kind of upstart Florida Panthers first time that those two teams are getting together in a playoff series. I think that's gonna be a lot of fun. It's gonna be I mean, they go after each other, Pretty good and Pamphlets, guts and challenges. I think with some guys that are probably not 100% healthy. Going into the postseason and Florida. It just seems like you know, they get an injury. They gave move guys in and out. Seems like no problem. They just keep rolling along. So you know that's a good one. And that same division. Carolina E mean, that's a team. Good. This is maybe the year they go on, maybe get to a Stanley Cup final. Maybe when the whole thing never really good group, but they're playing Nashville and Nationals been is probably as hard as anybody over the last 68 weeks of the season with a goaltending performance from the UC sorrows that she kind of reminiscent of God you know you got from you was the dominant Kostic. I mean, 9 41 save percentage from sorrows. Over his last 22 23 Angels. Pretty impressive. And you know, when you go out West, you got Vegas and Vegas and Minnesota, which they just had a great year. Minnesota always seems to have their numbers. So how that's gonna play out and, you know, then the East, you can probably flip a coin with those two matchups. Boston and Washington starting tomorrow night. More evening on NBC after the after the Preakness and Charlotte against his former team rooms look good now after the trade deadline acquisition, so I mean, there's a lot of good serious and a lot of good story lines. Want to sneak ahead to the second round. If you don't mind because look up here. I'm not people don't root for the Leafs. Not surprisingly, in Buffalo. I usually enjoy watching them flame out in the first round against Boston, But I gotta tell you from a from a hockey fan standpoint, EJ. I think one of them if it happens. One of the best Syriza in these four rounds could be Toronto and Edmonton Matthews and make David in the second round in that'd be great for the sport. I agree. I mean, I think that would be awesome for the sport to have those that kind of star power. One head to head and also, you know, Think about it. You have Dr Seidel and you have much smarter and I have you know you have this storyline and Joe Court. Who's you know the ancient Joan Thorton still trying to understand like up there in Toronto, and so You know, there's a lot of good Not a good story lines there as well. And that would be fun to watch those guys go head to head in the 17 serious way. Got we never really had that when you go back Into. You know, the earlier and I'm guessing to the time of Gretzky and and the mule there. Those guys never really crossed past in a playoff series. So we lost out on that we've had Crosby and Ovechkin. And that's been fun to watch. And so now the possibility of a Matthews me, David and because of the uniqueness of this season, where we could get that Whereas down the road, it will be less likely because of the fact that astronomy believes obviously you're in the Eastern Division and the Eastern Conference and the You know when the editorials in the Western Conference more from NHL networks EJ erratic when we return your listening to sports talk Saturday, right here on W G R.

We'll ignore the parallel vaccine invention of widespread antibiotics really. I did it. No even specifically talking medical stuff says the greatest thing to happen freely and my goodness. Wow and of course it has to be said that the he goes on again In this to to talk about how you know only he could have made it half an under any other president who would have taken five years and things like that and the five vaccine to no money or help from operation warp speed and was the first vaccine to be produced so well isn't that so brilliant. The trump administration agreed to buy some doses of the fis vaccine if it worked. But that's all they didn't get any help with development or anything like that. The vaccines came. Yeah they did come significantly quicker than any vaccine for something has ever been created before but because this is a global pandemic. Yeah exactly yeah. The international assets as scientists stopped working on what they were units started where this say has a tendency to speed stuff up and yes you're right. The statement number one was was fake. We are stunned to a news and in 40 minutes we have just An epic deep dive done by one of our loyal de aliens on something that is very, very mother. Ship centric, which is Peter Schwartz is Super Bowl spread. We spend a lot of time talking about Schwartz, and he doesn't know it. Yeah. WeII spent a lot of time focusing on his ridiculousness, and I don't think he knows that either, probably because he has blocked us all a social media. But The deep dive done by one of our listeners is truly truly greatness. It is like Watching Bill Walsh draw up a West Coast offense, so I want to get to that in honor of that coming up here later on in the hour. Also in two hours from now, Camille Kostic is going to join us. She is best known as a cover girl for a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Yes, she was on the cover. Not long ago. She's a model. She's a TV personality. She's too good to be part of a new TV. Syria's well the new cast of an old TV series wipe out So Camille is going to join us. She's also the love interest of drunk. She was at the parade the other day, the boat parade, so we'll get a firsthand account of the boat parade from Camille Kostic coming up here in two hours from now. But first I want to talk a little college football because we have John Garcia join us on the show yesterday, and John has been covering recruiting Think Maura than a decade I say, I think because I was I was following John's recruiting. Think back and a way to know nine. Either way, it's a decade or more. So he is It really well connected in the circuit for a while now, and he is the director of Sports Illustrated's Football recruiting. So the guy has tied. The guy has boots on the ground. He has seen the whole evolution over the last decade plus And you got to remember that one thing really truly did change dramatically for high school kids in college kids over the last decade that is social media. I know that my first Twitter My first Twitter handle. I opened up a Twitter account. Not that I've had multiple Twitter handles back in 2000 and eight So most of these high school kids have only known well. All high school kids have only known having Twitter. And having instagram and having social media. Facebook is for old fogeys. But you know they're using this and they're using Tic tac. They're using Snapchat. And before 9 4010. That was really not the case and so social media's become such a unique part of recruiting because Kids in high school or on social media all the time. So this is how you reach them for programs, coaches recruiting coordinators. This is how you reach them. Also, this is how fans reach them. It used to be that fans couldn't reach a kid unless they saw him around town. Then it became well, you could try to email that kid. Or you could, you know If there was a way to connect with him on on the Internet. You could try to do that. So they were inundated by things like that. And then social media came, and fans could just easily at mention this kid. Oh, bull boom! Get in there. Direct messages were just hit them up constantly on Twitter. And so now kids became bombarded by the outside influences. And John was telling us yesterday that because of this Young people, young athletes. The ego now in the celebrity house way more than it ever was. Because all day long you're fielding Fans. Alumni hitting you up. Said You got to come here. You're our savior. We need you. We could win a championship. All this type of stuff on top of the media. Being able to constantly contact them. You know, I know that from a recruiting standpoint back, Let's just say 8 4009 before kids may have had a Twitter account before Instagram was a thing. You were trying to find their phone numbers or their email addresses, and you were trying to contact them through the high school going through their football coach of their football department. And asking to email them or asking for their phone number and hit them up That way. Their cellphone number, try to text them Now there's no need. You could just at mention this kid or D m him. Constantly asking for what? Your update. Who are you? Leaning towards? Who's your favorite? So because the crush of attention kids changed kids changed. One thing that didn't change that. Kids want to be part of a winner. And we thought that maybe the college football playoff would spread that out a little bit. Spread the love because it used to be only two teams play for a championship. The BCS model shows two teams they play. Now there was a least four and there was a pathway you would hypothetically say into the final four. College football playoff for at least all power conference teams, right? What we've seen is the same for five teams in there every single year. Obviously, it's Alabama. Obviously, it's Clemson. It's usually Ohio State's It's usually if it's not, there's an L s u in there. We've had a Notre Dame in there, but you know, it's a pretty short. We've had a Georgia and there was a pretty short list. Of the schools of the teams, Oklahoma that you know you put in there. Had John Garcia was saying, Actually, the college football playoff Has been.
