Dr Michael Greger: The Power of Citrus

"To nutrition facts. I'm your host. Dr michael gregor. Today we discover the powerful properties of citrus title. Lemons limes citrons bitter orange grapefruit palmilla mandarin grapefruits on come klotz actually one of my favorite citrus fruits is the come quat because you can eat the whole fruit peel. And all which is ideal because the dna repairing enzyme boosting powers of citrus concentrated in the piel new data demonstrating dna. Protective agent was presently some fruits and vegetables found that it was heat sensitive and determined. It was not vitamin c confirmed in a study that tried vitamin c. Directly and found no effect on dna protection and repair of dna strand breaks the crinoid beta crypt azan. Thin found primarily citrus. Seems at least one candidate. If you expose cells to mutagenic chemical you can cause physical breaks in the strands of dna but in less than an hour. Our dna repair enzymes can weld most of our dna back together but if you add some of that citrus fido nutrient you can effectively double the speed at which dna is repaired but zoologist cells in a petri dish. What about in a person if you have people drink a glass of orange juice and draw their blood. Two hours later the dna damage you can induce with an oxidising chemical drops whereas if they just had like orange kool-aid didn't help so do people eat more fruit. Walk around with less dna damage. Yes particularly women. Does this actually translate into lower cancer rates. It appears so citrus alone associated with a ten percent reduction in odds of breast cancer

How the Military Is Being Indoctrinated Into Cultural Marxism via Critical Race Theory

"Mentioned. Also that defense secretary. Lloyd austin said that the pentagon's military training program incorporated critical race theory and the un-american sixteen nineteen project. how is it possible that these Utterly false ideologies. They're not merely american. They're fundamentally false that they would make their way into pentagon training this. I think this is where you know. Most americans are waking up. We're horrified and we think this has to end. We cannot live in a nation that is being protected by people indoctrinated with marxism with cultural marxism. How in the world is it possible. That things could get that far in the military. It's one thing if it happens at harvard and yale because they've always been drinking zeitgeist kool aid but in the military we. I would think that this couldn't happen. How has it gotten this far. The one answer this as something that most people don't realize is that very same instructors who are teaching on college campuses and saint. Harvard yale are teaching service branch academies there are teaching at the naval academy. This happened to the bill clinton previously. You had to be actually within the military to teach at a service branch academy under clinton you had the same civilian professors coming in. And these are the guys who are absolutely pushing radical agendas and. They are teaching the next officer class i. This is a huge huge problem. Now like million themselves are products for example of columbia their products of the same ivy league system. That is bad enough. Up at the same system has infested for example the naval academy One of the more recent issues. You have a tendency commander discussing america's problem with systemic racism and confessing his own bias. These kinds of things have become routine and this is the kind of marxist indoctrination on that our troops rejected even when they were prisoners of vietnam. There were people. Had bamboo shoots which another fingernails harrods the monks indoctrination now. They do voluntarily. Because it's good for their careers because this has been embedded in service branch academies it is a huge crisis that Some patriotic columbia fighting but that most people are unaware

The Quest for a Covid Pill

"You guys had a great story this week along with nick. Floor co about billy. Done the the regulator kind of at the heart of The helm controversy What did you guys find out about him as you were reporting this. Well what's interesting is we learned quite a bit. Because for anyone. Who's paid attention to this and might have cursorily google billie dunn. You'd find that there's very little information about him on the internet and so that was kind of the mountain that we're gazing up at As we embarked on this because as you mentioned he does seem to have emerged as really the key person at fda Who biogen identified as being you know willing to embrace their read of the very controversial data and that that set in motion the process by which the drug was eventually approved. And i think the narrative around the time of the approval and based on his comments at a public meeting last year was that he was really drinking the kool aid. That this guy you know maybe was kind of a mark for biogen. Maybe kind of went over his skis or listen to closely to patient advocates at the expense of the kind of rigorous view of data that one might expect from the fda. But what. I thought was interesting. Reporting it out and we talked to quite a few people who've worked with him whether add fda or At companies that had been before him or or in patient advocacy groups that have likewise met with him and would almost everybody said was that he built this reputation as a very stern and rigorous regular someone who demanded very clean very compelling data from treatments. That might win approval before even considering them in the sense that it gave him a lot of respect among his colleagues at fda and in some cases it really frustrated or even angered patient advocates. Who thought that you know for diseases like ls for example where there are so few options that he should ease up on that standard and so in those conversations that i think we had our. You can speak to this eventually. You'd get too. So what do you think of the agile. Home approval and people seemed kind of baffled. The a lot of people said like that's not the billy done. I know i remain confused. As to how he was won over by this data set from biogen. When i know him as a person who takes a completely different approach to regulating new drugs.

How B2B Companies Can Optimize Their Tech Stacks With McGaw.io CEO Dan McGaw

"Won't question. That probably always comes up. I guess i suppose in your line of work. Dan has like why do you think A lot of companies you know they just keep adding on to the tech stack and they just keep getting all this new technology rather than You know i would say probably using less technology and being more effective i. I'm not sure if that's the right on the right way to describe of any thoughts them up. Yeah i mean it's totally true. You know marketing for most marketers is not about being effective right so i wish it was but most marketers are more in this for the shiny objects and so are a lot of business leaders. I hate to say it. But most companies really focused on shiny objects compared to focusing on what is most effective At the end of day we do things because it makes our egos feel good. So that's a really really easy scapegoat there A lot of people get caught up in the hype of this new tool is going to provide these new. Kpi increases and the kind of over believe the salespeople over believe kind of the marketing of that tool and they never really put that tool in the place and instead of solving the problem of getting more value out of a tool they go buy another tool and drink the kool aid again to try to solve their problems. So a lot of it has to do with this new shiny thing. That's going to do this thing. And then there's this new shiny thing that's gonna do this thing. And because at the end of the day they never remember. They have a subscription for that other thing They wind up with a bunch of tools. Mean it's pretty bad But it's usually it has more to do with the fact something shiny. It's going to help me reach my goals but it never does not gonna move on and a lot of these tools is never get used. It's quite surprising to us the amount of adoption. That doesn't get had these companies for these tools. Yeah but that's definitely an interesting point and i. I know that you probably like hard to like. Give an exact figure. But what would you say is a ballpark in terms of like how much money companies spend a year on tools that they may or may not be using it yeah. It's definitely hard to give you a ballpark. Especially because every company is so different but A lot of companies. I mean a lot of companies are spending anywhere between five thousand dollars fifty thousand dollars on their marketing technology. Subscriptions alone So definitely a wide swath there right so but i would probably estimate around twenty percent of all the marketing budget which is going towards technologies and tools twenty percent that is not even being

Teaching Digital Marketing To Gen Z Through Real World Projects

"If there are marketers out there listening to this episode or there are nonprofits or educators at the university. And if you're working like an in a business remarketing department. I would say if you haven't tried this framework Or approach that we tried in. It's been very successful. Which is look help. The students learn by doing so hands on. Take the nonprofit in this case and pick the ones that are going to sort of drink. The kool aid right because they have to do some work on their end as well. But it's a win win for everybody. Wouldn't you say because i've everyone that i've talked to over the years and i've kept in touch with any of the students there from your class. It's like it. It served as like a big like it was very impactful. Yes i think students have found it very impactful. And they appreciate that they get to work with a real company and they're learning digital marketing. But they're actually seen because the nonprofits are so appreciative. A you know students are doing blogs and social media posts social media audit google analytics audited audit that the The not they see the nonprofits is just light up because they're actually teaching them about their business in how to improve it so many the students put you know. Put it under linked in profile. And they're very proud and they talk about it in their interviews.

Independent Sports Consultant Leon Mann Discusses Racism in Soccer

"So how you take it knowing that this has been something. You've been working on campaigning for ages. Now i mean vegetables. Thank you for me on can share some thoughts and views. It's great to be with both of you You know. I'm big fans of both your work. It's a real honor to be on here but It does what happened last summer. You know it was the realization of the problems that we've been talking about for many many years decades you know in. Shuckers dykes wallet. Back in terms of is what. Show racism. The red card myself. I've been working with campaign. Kick racism out football now known as kick out and guns but this football blacklist together and the black to a major spill around journalism and these conversations have been ongoing around right out week kind of diversify our industry. How do we ensure we see black leaders in our industry and how do we change. Dynamic swiftly and those conversations were incredibly frustrating because that would be a win in the room but it would be a lack of action to follow them So as a result of that we kept on having lots of conversations with barre barre slow progress but what happens in the summer it the game to store to reflect an actually as a community. We'll stood together and said no this is this is not going to continue anymore We cannot sell people treated this way. And we're not going to have this going to stand for. I think the fact that we're ruled on lockdown at the time meant that people were very very focused on this issue and as a result of that It feels like with with moving forward in a in a much more positive direction. in terms of the actions. And i'm you know privy to With the chief executives of lee seung susceptible associations etc and it lonely be judged on the actions. Of course bofill am. I do say this with some kind of kool shen because of twenty years of working on this. But i feel like we're in a place where we can get some real progress made leon as as transformative as twenty twenty has been i. I wanna talk a little bit about the start of couponing of the blacklist. What was you spock. And why kind of given the social challenges of the The last two years you felt the need to do that email as as as you already mentioned it was in and i'm sure you recognize would have been in such a frustrating atmosphere to not. Yeah i mean th th the black this was was born out of you know wanting to do something when type response. I had control over so looking for the kick out. Racism out full. It was a campaign was fantastic. Transitioning into a journalist with the bbc where it was working as a presents when report was great for me as an individual also had freedom to kind of put some actions in place. So i could control and drive myself alongside with my community. So i was as a campaigner meetings with various black people but black people that my friends and family from the black community would never know so when they're talking to me about How did you get get a job in football. And leon how why. Why do we never see any black representation. I said well the dead as many but they are there. So i thought well how do we shine a light on these people to celebrate contribution but also show the next generation of young black men and women. Listen you wanna be a lawyer in football. You can do it because this person has done it. And they're working at this. You want to be working in a major department. You wanna be a doctor. You wanna do all these kinds of jobs. You can't do it because these people have come before you. They all the pioneers that we should be celebrating in a similar way to how we celebrate a pioneering back players in every single position. We should celebrate these people as a way of opening the due to the next generation. Now of course that only works if that comes together with opportunity. Because i can go into community show about look you gamble Look here baltimat- live people arrive adult. It doesn't open Then they'll just turn around and disappearance of industries and just kind of have a relationship with football They will you on the tv or go to gags. So that's the bit. I think we need to work on you. Know in terms of where are the opportunities you know how much what the game is doing to attract retain and develop people bring a different diversity to the game and also not to see as as a charitable act.

Protesters defy Myanmar's military coup with civil disobedience

"The BBC news protests in Myanmar have been held in the biggest city, Yangon, Mandalay and the capital Naypyidaw, or as demonstrators continue to challenge the military's ousting of the civilian government. Campaign of civil disobedience has seen government offices and shops close and a slowdown in essential services, including covert testing. His Jonathan head citizens were taking part. In this movement believe that they have to sacrifice probably some very severe discomfort and risk to people's health and well being, in order to put this pressure on the military government. The military has not sounded as tough as you might have expected. We saw the Kool Aid him in online, saying he wanted to treat the protesters softly yesterday on. I think we'll get another plea from them today, saying that people must go back to work and try and get things functioning again. To get the economy going. It will for the moment fall on deaf ears. People have very, very angry about this coup. British Education Secretary

Anzu's Plan to Evolve In-Game Advertising with CEO Itamar Benedy

"Any of these Sports networks other properties on this episode of the E Sports Network podcast for bringing back a gasp from about a year ago wage a little more bonetti. He's the co-founder and CEO of on zoo in a more. Welcome back to the Shelf. Hey meets great to be here tomorrow is on the show back in February of 2020 where we discussed the growth of in-game advertising age people who miss that show or too many of our new listeners since then on to his a platform that makes it easier for braids to get into video game worlds and for developers to open up more potential White spaces in their games for Grants Pass. I'll do is work with Publishers like Ubisoft at lide Castle to deliver Brayden moments for major. It's like Samsung Pepsi American Eagle and many more Esports. We've seen it gave ads take Auto larger role especially patiently League of Legends open up space in summoner's Rift and it was filled by MasterCard an Alienware among other partners and just this morning as a record this on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 rocket League announced that Ford is going to take over there it gave Billboards for the upcoming which are major on zoo also had a big adults with this what the platform recently raised nine million dollars in additional capital in around Kool-Aid buyback Fetchers and hbse Ventures. There is participation by plenty more investors, of course, including Mark Merrill, one of the two founders of Riot games, this follows two other funny raises of three and five million. So in Mark Gratz of the race, first of all, what are the plans for this capital? Yeah, thank you Mitch. So as you said we raised 9 million dollars beatcraft is one of our previous investors are still leading gaming Esports v c. B c is a new VC which comes from the sport world and a lot of touchpoints around gaming and then other investors are wpp the biggest advertising group in the world, which is also like in the existing investor and Sony Innovation fund, you know, Sony is one of the biggest gaming groups in the world and the owner of PlayStation. So that's a privilege to have them on board Mark Romero the founder and chairman of road games on League of Legends. As you mentioned didn't call ins the founder and CEO of super awesome that recently got acquired by epic games and the Chicago Cubs. Yeah, the baseball team go Ventures and gainesville's and illumine Adventures. So a very crowded and exciting structure of invest investors to have on board. I'm a Cardinals fan so we'll let the dog So invested things slide, I guess but grats on all the different people who came together you mentioned before we started recording you were in the position that every founder kind of hopes. They find themselves in which is we have a few people. We have a different options for Capital so we can pick the people that make the most strategic sense for us going forward. What did you find from the mobile the different investors? What were you looking for? Especially as guiding parts of the company to push it Forward? Sure. So I mean, you know what this round was not about it was not about as fast as we could have fine as it like very very fast as what it was about bringing the best structure. Number one number two, it was about, you know to maximize shareholder value. We could raise almost double the amount but we didn't want to make sense. This is the amount of cash we need for next stage Rose and then in the future if it's a year from now or two years from now we can do another round off. For that makes sense. So we were not looking at at you know, these things it was more about we have a lot of confidence in him. Advertising is going to become a major business model for game divorce across all platforms, through PC Mobile and an important ads category four Brands media agencies and the ESPYs and and the question is how fast can that happen or more sneaking about big Brands big Publishers not easy companies to convince them to do something new. So when we meet partners that can help us to make this happen faster than wages. Are we get excited one form to partner is again investment one is a strategic partnership and they can elaborate more of some of the Partnerships we have in place and some of them is people who join our team. So that was what was guiding us and looking at the different, you know buckets of we are investors came from there is some you know, some like VCS and financial institutions. There is advertising and groups. There is game. Groups and there is a sports organizations that have a lot of touch point in going to become an important overlap in my opinion the next two years. And of course there is like with the values that we want to group represents and communicate us companies gauges as the leading investor for equal opportunity and Which choice for us an important to him and announcement to basically said if the world that was how we were looking at it that's a great place to be at

"This is the food scientists podcast. I'm your host. Amy j jack i am here with danny sussman. Low amy's jack hello. Brian pearce and greetings to the rest of the world. I know you're all here listening brian. Pearce here to a low to everyone. That danny missed yes. We will have some news in experiences. Then we have some more Chips that really meet chips. Chips new pringles new limited edition print goals. Yeah and something. New with reese's peanut butter stuff and popping candy kool-aid popping candy. And i'm just gonna jump in real quick. It's not new but we are doing out of two very similar reasons products. We're gonna play our who's the evil twin. Yeah yeah it's one of the one of them is hard to find a nameless. We can't figure what it's called but we'll get to that well okay new to me. You know what amy. Every time i find out you learn something i'm like. Wow we're really educated. This podcast is really about brian. And danny educate amy wall the world than world. Interact with us like through talking with that. We should go onto some news. We used to have news okay. So i'm just. I'll i'm gonna lead up to you danny here but we are at the very beginning of november and you might think okay definitely more in the heart of holiday season. Let's talk about some of those holiday things but we're already getting into easter candy. News for twenty twenty one. But i just i just saw in the grocery store fanatics group one of the grocery store employees at pictures of all of their christmas candy. Just hit the shelves today. Which i guess. So in the new cycle he would make sense that now the eastern news coming. But that's like really far like five months old. Maybe deserved have been valentine's candy news. We had something. It wasn't that great. I guess 'cause i was. There is valentine's candy new. Sometimes but yeah. It's not the same as christmas or halloween or easter. I know you want to talk about one of the new eminem coming out. The mayor did spoil everything else. Gopher okay yeah well The her is going to be a well. You know easter bunny candy. Normal thing sour patch is coming out with a white chocolate bunny filled with sour patch. Kids new. I don't i mean i feel like that's the easter bunny defending itself because everybody sees the little chocolate bunny and smashes its face and just like destroys it at least nice smashes space but if you knew that there were sour patch kids inside. Maybe it'd be like you know what i'm just gonna leave this little allow. You're good body you all and your white chocolate. I wouldn't want to eat you anyway so issue. I was picturing the star patch. Kids in meshed in the light chocolate. Not a hallo bunny filled with them and that sounded worse. Either way that. I call that like yeah. That's the of bunny that sees salad. Bunny not too thick. Yeah yeah Our patch kids. Yeah i mean. I do this arab redskins alone but i'd rather not have it in white chocolate. Yeah or any job that matter There is a to eminem stand. He's gonna talk about one of them but there's going to be a new mystery mix eggs. I saw that. Yeah it's gonna be one package amends filled with peanut butter Regular milk chocolate and double chocolate. And i don't know what double chocolate means. Maybe it's like the fudge brownie a software chocolate irregular chocolate. It could be. Yeah we'll see but right now. I don't really have information on that. But that's gonna be walking coming up. Easter twenty twenty one. I was very surprised. One of them wasn't peanut butter. But i think that's because that's the mixes right now. That isn't this mix said oriented basic peanut peanut butter milk chocolate and double chocolate. Now here's the thing about the right there. all right. they have no color picture correctly The picture has pastel colors. But it's early so that might not be right but it doesn't even matter what color they are because they're all the same size you don't know what they are. It's not really like even the regular mix if they're coming out with is essentially a mystery if they're all the same size you have no idea. Anyway what a peanut butter eminem is at the same size as regular no so. Maybe we'll see the program and have a new flavor coming out too. That's my one little nugget of news that brian saved for me that i can have. My pittance of news is that the one is that. There's also a springtime. Eminem coming out. That i think brian gave us because he doesn't wanna talk about it. Not really want to no. You don't even want to acknowledge that it's going to exist. I was happy to let you. Because i get joy out of making you make sour face which i'm sure you will at the idea of key lime pie. Eminem obviously but not make sense with regular chocolate so if it slimy

The American Dream Daughter: A Conversation With Author Karla Cornejo Villavicencio

"When carla was one and a half years old. Her parents left her in their native ecuador in the care of family members while they emigrated to new york city the plan was they would work for one year to save up enough money to pay off their debt and then they'd come home but barely making ends meet. One year turned into four so they decided to have god led join them in their new home. She was just about to five years old growing up away from her. Parents would ever permanent effect on carla and shape her and her work to this very day therapist. After therapist told me i had attachment issues and that my mental illness related to my childhood. God is a dhaka recipient and at least on paper. She's the realization of the american dream for immigrant parents. She went to harvard now. She's pursuing a phd at yale but the constant pressure to be the perfect high-achieving hardworking child has oftentimes been a mental health nightmare. For god. Laugh once you hear your parents come home and their body is wrecked at the end of the day. And you know they've earned like little very little money and they look at you and they say i do this for you. You can't forget that for the rest of your life and you're bound to them. As down with god led to talk about intergenerational wounds mental health in the latino community and how we can take care of each other. God-like gordon hobie abby. Sense your to latino say thank you for having me. So you're writing this book as an immigrant with no you know essentially legal status. Was it difficult to harness your feelings while you were writing this book. Yeah there's just ways of describing my anger about the notions of citizenship and deserving this and privilege one of the original introductions was this fantasy that i've had since i was a little girl which was A hostage situation at a bank and all of the hostages were way blond. Children women cops firefighters people who are deemed innocent and heroes. And i walk into the bank and i'm undocumented and somehow even though i have no idea how to hold a gun i'm able to like russell begun out of the terrorist hands. Shoot the terrorist in the knees or somewhere. That's like not gonna kill him. Because i want to kill him in the hostages. Go out like they're all freed. And i'm wearing a slip because i also wanna look beautiful right which is also like a reference to two thousand six immigration marches where we all had to wear way. Then i walk out. And it's like swat teams are there and like everyone's there and of course isis there to arrest me because i'm the foreigner in my hair's in the breeze and everyone takes my photo and i'm like on the front cover of every national newspaper and i get my citizenship. That's that was my fantasy. Ever since i was a kid. That's how i got my citizenship. God it's like you have to do extraordinary acts of the hollywood magic and then you are rewarded your citizenship. I guess i'm stuck on the fact that you were having fantasies like this as a child. And i just wanna take a moment for people to think about that while other little kids are thinking about who knows there are undocumented children in this country who dream and have fantasies about somehow some miraculous situation that gives them the thing that your child takes for granted every day it's really burdensome to have to perform goodness and innocence and perfection And i know that as a kid who are as a person now is a thirty year old woman who is on the outside on paper such a poster child for the american dream. And i've never performed it. But it's so imposed on me and i described my own complex feelings about it in the buck. Like i really drank the kool aid of sociability. Very early on when i was a child and became fixated on accomplishment and success and being able to win day retire. My parents even now Am fully aware and very self aware of the intergenerational trauma issues in our community and in my own family and everything. But i still don't think i i know who i am as a person outside of the way. My personal accomplishments can result in the alleviation of pain for my parents and the documented community. If you were to take that away from me. I don't know who i am as a person and i think that's true for a lot of children of immigrants who have become successful.

A Conversation With Hans Skillrud

"To hallway chats. I'm Cara Clays and I'm Liam Dempsey today. We're joined by Hans School Road over the course of seven years Hans built a 12-person web design agency in downtown Chicago and then sold it in early 2019 to focus attention on his new start-up long-term again. Mm, Getting is an auto updating privacy policy generator Hans. Welcome. Thanks for having me. Hey glad to see you here today virtually hans-georg. Thanks so much for joining us. I love for you to share more of your story here. Tell us more about yourself. Absolutely. So, you know, I like starting I have to pick a divided somewhere. So I'm going to start it when I found WordPress because you know, I should date myself free WordPress and post WordPress cuz that's really been a big determiner of my career. We all have that that DeMark wage. Some point, I think you can start where ever you want though. If you want to go back further, that's fine too. Well, maybe a good example is how I got to Wordpress. You know, I was one of the first employees a Groupon Groupon was a hot young company. That was seemingly helping small businesses get more traffic through their doors and I drink the Kool-Aid as we would say a Groupon. I'm very much believed in the model of discounting a company 50% offer more for one day only and you know bringing people together to try out a place over the years though that company went public and I think their priorities changed and I shared my concerns with management they disagreed so I quit I was managing a sales team about a hundred fifty people and I decided I don't like their business model anymore and someone with a small business owner is passionate about what they do within their doors, but they aren't necessarily passionate about bringing that information online. And that was what group I was taking advantage of in my opinion. So what I'm Off to do was to help small-business owners share what they do best online and I think that message, you know, that was the that was the fuel to my midnight Midnight fire Midnight Oil. I'm always so bad with those things. It was the fuel to my fire to to you know, help the small business owner out and over the course of seven years. I found WordPress. I started building websites helping small business owners with their exposure online and the company was successful. I built it up to a 12-person team in downtown Chicago and I happen to be dating a privacy attorney at the time and I told her how I used to copy and paste privacy policies over dinner and her jaw dropped and she's like, what are you doing? I'm like, that's what everyone does. She's like, that's not what you do anymore. Not not what we're dating off and threw a few discussions we decided we we came up with the business model for Irma gettin which we I now have sold my agency and focus all of my time with Sonata on wage. Again is a privacy policy generator. What's cool about our Tech is that you copy and paste the embed code from turmeric added onto the website and that's what allows us to push updates to the policies when the laws change and we give web agencies a free set of our policies in the host that they like our product enough to want to offer term of got into their clients. They can resell it or use our affiliate programs whatever they wish off. But but what we're trying to teach the web industry is something I failed at multiple times, which is the era of copying and pasting privacy policies is over people like we have to accept the future. What is about to happen, especially in America with privacy laws. So that's where my focus is. Now. I am married to Donna and you guys are the first people get to say that publicly to Tom Thumb and yeah, we work from home now and we run from again together and and the rest is history great great story. There's a lot there to unpack and talk about Going to go back to the beginning part cuz I'm curious about Groupon as somebody who used it and hasn't really seen much of it is it sounds like and I don't remember when that was that Groupon and became a thing but it's just before small businesses had web sites. Is that what you're saying websites were definitely a thing. It was 2009 when Groupon which was typically previously called the point which I loved that website named the point., because what someone would just say, what's the point and you're like, oh, you know some kind of joke, but the point became Groupon and I shortly joined group on home sites were still around I was 2010 and you know, I was it was a wild ride watching a company go from a hundred employees to thirty thousand and three years and two years off, um in my career went along with it because of its growth. I naturally I was put in a position to manage people which was a wonderful opportunity. I love sales. I'd love song Is I love sales because I think a lot of people think of sales is bad and I always try to say no. No, no, no, no people are bad or people are good. It is sales is just a Communication channel. So am I only want to do good things with sales and and that's how I train my sales team. So that's something I really appreciated at Groupon. They they gave me the ability to do that for a while, but I felt like watch company went public priorities had changed and now all of a sudden we need to be focused on taking additional margins from small business owners and you know, that sounds good and all but when you're talking to a small business owner asking them to discomfort sells more than 50% and then you're taking more than well you're taking well, it's public knowledge. You're taking more than 50% of a revenue raised. I don't know some didn't feel right. So, you know, that's what I decided was no longer fit. And at least if you look at the stock market how Groupons performed over the last ten years. I think I was correct. But

'Dude, I'm Done': When Politics Tears Families And Friendships Apart

"Now you have likely seen it or felt it yourself. Now A recent survey shows how the nation's bitter political divide is taking a toll on friendships as NPR's Tuvia Smith reports with political polarization hitting a fever pitch. Even decades long relationships are caving under the pressure. It's been happening everywhere on social media, and in really life did straight up there. Dude, I'm done Lose my number that Shimada Davis from L. A. I just hung up on my end, and I proceeded to just block them in every possible way. Joanie Jensen from New York. I hate families, everything but I just don't know and Ricardo de Forest from Florida, there among the many Americans dumping friends over politics. It's one thing to disagree about tax policy, says Davis. But this is deeper. It's about morality and justice. As a black man. He says he simply could not abide his friend of 25 years down playing police brutality. It's like if this is your attitude. I don't respect you. Now I don't because people are really dying. It's also that kind of moral absolute to Jensen, retired professor and sexual assault survivor who cut off a friend of 40 years who was being cavalier about the allegations against Trump's then Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. He was going off flight. Oh, you drank the Kool Aid Cabin on boy. He didn't do anything. I said if this is his core ethics, I don't want that kind of person in my life Conservatives, Of course. Khun B. Justus, quick to spurn the liberals in their lives who clashed with their core values like life or the biggie for Ricardo de Forest Liberty. They sold our country out. This election is about the soul of what America is. He can be a free country. Andy, a socialist state to forest, a 61 year old steelworker cut off several cousins who he calls hard core Trump haters all they can do it. From the races on man bed on man raises, you know, blowing spittle in and veins popping out of their heads Yolk soy Latino, But I guess I'm some sort of horrible races because I like Trump. Ridiculous. We are seeing more political polarization today than at any point in modern history. Jocelyn Kiley, with the Pew Research Center says about 80% of Americans now have few or no friends across the aisle, and the animosity goes both ways. Democrats are a little bit more likely to say they'd end a friendship. But Republicans, maybe a little bit less likely to say they have friends on the other side, so it may not be all that differential. Everybody is doing this Tania Israel The University of California psychology professor runs workshops on cross the aisle conversations, she says. Both sides have big blind spots when it comes to the morality of their own side, and they all view themselves as eminently fair. And right. When I say all these things, I think I found fairly reasonable and see the other side as irrational. Just something wrong with these people. Whether conservatives like the forest or lefties like Joni Jensen, I said, Oh, my God, he really is brain. Wass. Everyone Tanya, Israel says could use a little more intellectual humility were flattening people out, you know, in terms of our view of them and not really seeing the full complexity of people on the other side. It's exactly what Georgia truck driver Jon Langford says his brother who's gay did to him. He went off on the sand. Essentially, I'm a racist and a homophobe. Just because I'm a trump supporter, knowif stands or butts. Ain't completely cut me out of his life, Langford says he's trying to not do the same and toe hang onto his friends. On the other side. I could assume that anybody that supports Biden is a firm believer that it's okay to murder a baby, but I don't From the other end of the political spectrum. Connecticut business consultant Jeff Maren Steen is also straining to stay friends with some trump supporters. Despite all the invective and insults, you know you live They're all the same or these ad hominem attacks. Maren Steen no longer talks to some of them with others. He just doesn't talk politics. It just feels like the healthiest thing for me to do at the moment. But, you know, I suppose the risk is that I'm just retreating into my own information bubble with people who think just like me. Indeed, experts say more conversation, not less is what's needed to heal the
