"Certainly one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the day tomorrow night in Baton Rouge between South Carolina and Lsu. . Castaneda joining us from down there Quin. . Thank you very very much. . Appreciate <hes> the time, , and it looks like a weather. . Is An issue <hes> for what's going on down there right now? ? Well, , just for the moment I'm across the street Tiger Stadium's to my left in their facility straight across the street I'm about to record up and advancer for tomorrow and had a little lightening. . got. . Dark severe winds and pouring but you can see the nicer weather up on the horizon. So . things should be back to normal about ten minutes. . We'll good because. . That is a place that doesn't need Louisiana does not need any more bad weather. . Quinn let's talk a little bit before we get to the game just about your job this year it's different I'm sure. . A lot of zoom calls a lot of unusual situations caused by the pandemic. . How would you describe the the obvious difference between this and every other year you've been on the sidelines for ESPN and ABC. . Well, , it's taken a lot of the fun out of it taken a lot of the things that I enjoyed get on campus to meet with the coaches to talk to the strength coaches just to get a vibe for how that team's doing and you learn so much whether it's Roman down the hallway and talking to a tight ends coach or bumping into a recruiting intern about video, , they just paint so so that. . Part of my investigation is is far less exciting. . This year <hes> there's no social aspects in terms of our TV crew, , our TV team so it's just zooms and when I'm on the road I'm the only one here are our broadcast crew will will broadcast this from Bristol. . I'm the only one here. . So I kind of treat this like I'm a spy, , I don't touch anything I talked to strangers and I couldn't. . quit. . There's always a challenge on the sidelines especially. . When there is weather but is it any or how different is it i? ? Guess I'm trying to ask dealing with the crew. . Fifteen hundred miles away or maybe longer or farther <hes> right upstairs nothing you can see them but you at least know that they were seeing the same thing you're seeing. . Yeah there's a little bit of a time delay in the audio so it can be anywhere from two seconds four seconds. . So I've been on a crew with Jason Bonetti and Rod Gilmore. The . last couple years Mike spent hot the whole game this year I've changed crews almost every week, , and because <hes> we're doing it remotely. . They can't have my mic on because we'd be talking over each other. . So we do it old school and I'll talk to the producer I talked back and say, , Hey, , after the third down, , play I wanNA talk about upon her coming out for hey, if , they make a first down here I want to talk about how they're tight ends doing a great job so. . Do it old school and go through the go through the producer in the in the remote truck. . In order in order to get on air whereas in the past I could just talk and we were seamless. . Clean on the sidelines I mean to say the least there are restrictions what are they and how much do you have to tiptoe around? ? It's really not bad. . I mean we won I. . Did a game not they actually made me call the game from the stands in the front row was good seat but I really couldn't get a feel for what was going on on the benches since then they've just widened appalled widen areas it's actually easier now because there's less hangers on, , there's less alums, , there's less NFL scouts until the sidelines are vacant and it makes my job a lot easier. . I also feel pretty secure in that the players and coaches have all been tested recently as recently as Friday or Saturday morning. . So I, , feel good in that regard <hes>. . So it's actually almost easier less fans less crowds more space. . Speaking of testing. . How often do you have to be tested? ? <hes> we test once a week it's either an ad home test, , and then you mail it in test results come back in about thirty six hours or it's an onsite tasks on a Thursday afternoon then you quarantine. . And then Friday, , they released you so so far knock on wood six for six negative tests. . That would be Kinda. . Nerve wracking you show up at a game and you have to sweat it out and you hope you don't get a <hes>, , a Nick Sabin positive. . Let's talk about the game because. . It's a really interesting game. . Let's start with South Carolina just your. . As I know you do gather as much information as you can <hes>, , you probably would like to. . Be Able to gather more in person but. . Your impressions of what you've seen to them and and what you expect. . Well they beat Auburn as you know, , and they got the three turnovers and converted those in touchdowns. . My issue was South Carolina's they're operating an offense with very limited downfield wide receiver threats shy Smith is a natural slot receiver. . Colin Hill is is working Mike, , Lobos offense efficiently and their offensive line in running backs or carrying the day. . Okay. . That's with this team is I'm not sure they're ever going to be a high scoring team defensively they're really good corners who can shut you down they add to the box so. . I think South Carolina given that Lsu has a freshman quarterback. . I'm leaning towards them having some success defensively in this ball game. . So I kinda like Carolina's ability to <hes> negate lsu with a freshman quarterback but Carolina's physical they're tough. . They're not nothing flashy about him and I think big plays are hard for them I. . Think they have to manufacture find ways to manufacturer big plays <hes> but I think this team is definitely moving in the right direction I. . Think they've improved each week. . And the other side of that you alluded to the quarterback situation team that has struggled mightily on defense quarterback play has been pretty good I. . Know I know it's impossible to gauge because we don't really have a lot of information but. . What have you what have you been able to learn about where they are right now? ? Yet, , teach gets the start a freshman <hes> Ponchatoula high school. . He's gigantic six, , six, , two, , hundred and forty two pounds nets down from to sixty s a big toll righty and you watch his high school tapes just drops in the pocket and he conflict the ball and it goes forty yards without him even trying he seems like he's calm. . He's Louisiana product of this dream for him the ADRENALIN will be running. . Also expect to see, , Max? ? Johnson. . The son of NFL, , quarterback Brad Johnson a lefty also tall but more of a dual threat and when you think about calling the game around a freshman quarterback making his first start, , you know any kind of run game would be beneficial <hes> and to put the quarterback in successful positions. . Early in the game, , get him hit <hes> but but get a couple first downs give him some easy throws and I think that'll be on the mind of lsu going to be a little more conservative game plan I'd. . Imagine. . You know he's got targets downfield terrace Marshall <hes> their running game I thought was anemic Missouri game that was the most disappointing part of the game in my eyes Missouri was without three defensive tackles in that game and Lsu had no running game whatsoever good news for the Tigers to get Ed Ingram back at left guard. . But this is an offense through the air with Miles Brennan that's been outstanding. . But now you've got a new freshman quarterback. So . expectations drop again, , I'm seeing a little bit more of a lower scoring game here. . In Clinton's you've seen them. . The. . Biggest used on defense. . Would give. . Horrible And coach today sentence embarrassing. . Alignment. . Very, , often they're they're moving at a snap making checks that is when the coverage changes on the fly because of emotion because of formation change that has been a dismal day of given up big play after big play against Mississippi State, , it was more catching and run the air raid defense was was atrocious quite honestly continued to play man defense got shredded by crossing patterns but I was at the Mizzou game and That game was defined by busts. . I mean just blatant bus where I got him. . No you got to I got you got him guys wide open touchdown in the running game. . Their linebackers are not playing physical. They're . not playing north not playing north. . They're not getting to the line of scrimmage and engaging blockers to waiting for runners they're missing tackles remember the tyler beatty runs Missouri fiscally untouched broke attack Lens. . Gone So. . Those are the headlines here new quarterbacks for Lsu and a defense that has had no answers. .

"In fact, Trump aide 200,000 plus Down on the corona virus. Okay, so let's look okay. Kwun. Stopping here will keep you on the line. Let's back up here a little bit. First off the tax issue. That's an easy one to go and sort of to clarify on that, as Drew you mentioned yesterday and has been discovered since then, In that own New York Times reports, Trump paid millions of dollars in taxes. It even says that in there, that's 7 50 was on top of the other millions that he paid. So that was That was a false claim that was being perpetuated. Let's back up further, though, to the proud boys. Comet. The problems. Comment. I'm going. We talked about it earlier at length. I think it is open to interpretation. I think it was a misspeak by Trump didn't do himself any favours that being said. There were there were, you know, half a dozen things that Joe Biden said that were equally is controversial that are getting a complete and free pass on the Predator's comment. I do agree with you. Hillary Clinton was the one who said super predators that being said Joe Biden was the one who called members of the black community Predators just not super predators, so we can split hairs over that. I agree with you. Trump needs to make sure that if he's going to love those types of attacks He's gonna have to be more specific and more accurate than he was. But be that as it may, Buyten's out there doing plenty of gas on a daily basis and gets a free pass on those. I'm not given Trump a free pass. He's got to do it better, but he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Just a cz. Muchas Biden does. You know That's a good point. But you have to understand that Joe, but and I think he got under the skin of Donald Trump. Because Donald told me he got to you. He has flabbergasted. He was just as like a schoolyard bully. It wasn't presidential at all That's subjective President. Do you think Biden was presidential Uh, Joe Biden. He was on the stage, but he didn't hurt himself. Donald Trump hurt himself. Appreciate Kokubo don't necessarily agree. I don't think that what happened last night took anybody out of the Trump campaign. And you know if you talk about hurting yourself, it's you know, did did you lose any support? I doubt it. I can't imagine he lost support last night. But then I don't know Fighting did either. And, you know, the three idea is that you're supposed to get people who maybe were on the fence, too, to come your way. I just don't know how many of those people there are this this time around, and look, man, I got to be honest. I am so sick and tired of the hypocrisy and double standard where Trump has to get every Single little thing. Perfect, right? And if you're on the left, you just don't have to, you know, Look, I'm all about taking the high road and do the right thing. You win every time, but it's getting it's getting a little bit ridiculous. You know Biden's out there. Gaff after Gap After Gaff after Gaff, for crying out loud, not a peep he gets coached through, you know, news interviews when he stumbles across what a particular bill is after being in, you know, serving in Congress for longer than I've been A life for crying out loud and Trump does a little thing is the superpredators instead of just predators is that it's so tired of the hypocrisy, man. All right, We have a lot of people on hold. We are going to take all of your calls. We're also going to talk with Lacey Johnson CD five candidate opponent to Ilhan Omar, coming up, so stick around justice in true what.

"Just in the Lakers. It performance against the clippers but Lebron in particular thing neither game he was aggressive. Just didn't bring his a game. We'll talk talk about that and tell me why if you believe so. The Lakers can indeed beat the clippers in the playoffs and win the championship. Maybe I'm with you on that. And and I and Kelvin. I'll tell you how frustrated I am 'cause when it comes to the clippers week You know they don't mix with me. You know what I'm saying. Lifelong clear what the right now. But but I'll I'll be honest with you I I've been. I don't know if I've been more impressed with them. Down the stretch and what Kawais been able to do a more disappointed pointed out the Lakers have closed against them. 'cause I agree with you and I don't know I don't know why but I started after last game given the clippers. Little more credit defensively Maybe they were making things tough around the Brown because I dunno Chris and both times. I feel like they've settled for bad shots in the second half and you know eighty anyway off his mark you know where he's he's getting both eighteen to nineteen feet our back to the basket. Patrick Beverley does something so disrupt Lebron. You know it's like I'll never forget the first play that first game game opening night. The broncos right passing it might have been the worst thing to happen because then the problem is just kind of isolate them and and and tell them the ball instead of moving it running those high pick and rolls and I the the one thing I noticed Chris at the end of that lasting. That really surprised me where I think we all started. Say something going on. He didn't attack. And all that to me is when when Lebron is going and and I'm with you I think when it comes to a playoff series seven game series. I leaned the Lakers. Because of that to Lebron he knows he's thirty five. He knows the window. Daddy has I think he will this way but but it surprised me that we didn't see him get through like you saw the last two games he did against Dallas did against Portland. So I'm surprised. I I really am to Chris. McGee is with the spectrum. Sports net always covering the pre imposed games of the Lakers Let's let's stay with the Lakers right now. And what would've what about the relationship. You're released the role that cow Kuzina has played. Or maybe some would say maybe lack thereof or do you think he's finally starting at his legs underneath him from being injured and kind of finding his way with Anthony Davis now a team in association to Lebron who had to get accustomed to play with last year whereas right now for you I I think it's a number of things and you guys know a lot about who I think you'll be on on on the same page as me with this one. I try to tell a lot of people in the beginning of the year number. One when you're not healthy you're not right if the struggle anyway but then to play along to superstars different. I mean Kevin Love when he went to Cleveland. Ask Chris Bosh when he went to Miami. Listen Kokubo was getting sixteen. Seventeen eighteen shot a game last year playing on a mediocre team. Where he's the guy now the sudden you're trying to fit in on a really good basketball team where there are two superstores? Were getting that those many shops that you're not only getting nine shots a game last three games or four games I think he's averaging like fifteen to seventeen shots. Big Difference big opportunity. Yes I think he's healthier but I also think he had to get his mind right and figure out his role in his rhythm. It just wasn't there. Little things happen. The ankle the ribs There's a stress reaction not stress fracture. The the Strain that he had his castle. All those things things I think combined with the fact that he was trying to find his way You can't underrate that you know learning how to just you know. Wait for that ball sometimes You know being able to go get it and running around stuff so what. I've noticed a couple of games. I don't know if you've seen this too. But he's getting more of those off ball cuts easy bucket. It's four to six points per game on that. Then that opens up the three hits a couple of those seen always up to twelve to fifteen pretty quickly so it's good to see Cruz getting going to say what they're going the need it. Because when you talk about the clippers they have three guys that can run the pick and roll an exclusive basketball and create with five seconds. Left on the shot clock Lou Williams Paul George and and Coa what Bronco One guy that can do play cruises heating up who's is good man that after different elements of the Lakers. And they're going to need that placing clippers. Do you know like what what their plan is for him. Do they vision him as he gets his legs under him and you know fully is back from the injury that he could be a starter. Because I agree with you I think one I think he's got a lot of dog any. He's not afraid to take the big shot which I think they need So I could see him. You know being out house need to be out on the floor with a Lebron. You think they see him with the closing team and or starting at some point. Chris I think you bring up a great point I I said that and I remember when I when I thought he found that dog and when when I think we all saw that dog and I love use that term was that first game and suddenly when he was a rookie. Like Oh my God. This guy's not afraid so I I've loved that about Kyle Kuzma to answer your question. I think he's more in the closing line-up when you slide to the five and I think he's best four starting that way because if you look at you know they need help guarding on that parameter that that's been the hardest thing these last couple of years lebrons not going to be that guy okay. That's why you need to other guards whether Casey p Avery Bradley Danny Green and Avery Bradley Danny Green and JCP. So I like the way they start with your veil. I love what they're doing right but I love Casey Authority coups more in that closing line-up last five fifty of the game now you bring him in with With add and Lebron. Gator let me ask you about The Lakers typically you know they like to do sexy things right. L. A. is Hollywood Lakers have had so much sustained success then neighboring. Frank go Frank Vogel. It's Kinda like everyone but all of a sudden you see the number one seed in the West and they actually have been very good defensively for the most part of the season and what is Franks. I guess the turnaround for this team. Obviously having a Lebron help but have you been pleased with what his offensive mind has brought to this team and organization Asian. Yeah Frank School I remember sitting with him I. I didn't know him at all that with him. And did one of our Connected with interviews late in the summer. really impressed how he carries himself. How you Kinda hit it on the head? It's not Hollywood and I think they needed to get away from from drama and and from everything I know that's probably been boring for for everyone in radio and TV. It's been actually nice that there's been no issues w popping up and I'll be honest I think he's done a really good job and I don't know the INS and outs how how that staff got. Put together But I know it was a big topic going into training camp but we haven't even talked about it You Know Jason Kidd on the bench. IDAHOANS on the BECH. Feel and you I think is one of the best on the bench and and they just brought this like veterans style. No nonsense Smart make adjustments when you have to defensive-minded staff that I think all the guys respected and and I gotta give Frank. A lot of credit is not easy. I mean listen the roster it is what it is. It is so much better than we saw the last few years. And and that's just the truth and and Kris Kelvin. You know you need players in this league but it's also also really hard to coach superstars and and to make everything fit and Frank Vogel kind of Nice Job with that early in the season when when really the same you know. It's still developing chemistry. So I give Frank. NS staff a lot of credit. Gator they I I think among the teams that would like to get Andrea go. Dial I think the Lakers could using the most. You know another perimeter defenders. You mentioned that they need. But how active do you think they'll be taking goes out of the mix in trying to make a move around before to trade deadline. And what do you think they feel. What do they feel like? They need another the shooter or or defender. What playmaker what is it? Well that's the thing in Chris is is. How do you get all of that? Right like Biggie. For me is the guy is well that kind of checking the boxes that you need and I think they have to prioritize like I. It's funny I get a lot of a lot of friends telling me they need shooting but for me. When when when the broncos deer shooting the ball well like all semesters energy way up I mean everyone else is pretty much you know hitting what they should so so I think for me? It's not so much the shooting yes always nice. But I think it's more of a guy that can create a little bit when the bronze not there That can create a little bit so Lebron is also but also can be versatile defensively. And that's why I think you know issues that guy. I don't know to answer your question. How how aggressive? They'll be because listen. They don't have the assets that they had the last couple of years. You know cruises playing great right now. And he's a big part of what you're doing. And he's on the chiefs guys. You only make two million dollars a year. So if you're GONNA get a bigger name it's almost impossible because they don't have the trade pieces to do it iggy one is and I'm sure you guys have talked about death so complicated located because Memphis is sitting there going man we gotta get something for this guy so. I don't know how it's going to happen. But if I had to prioritize I would think it would be wing defender slash a guy that can that can create a little bit off a pick and roll would be my priority guys. I was some kind of be a little morsel. He's Chris. GATOR MCGEE THE LAKERS PRE and post game host for spectrum. Sports that L. A.. Excellent Workman we. "And now Kokubo he is an Oxford getting ready for the old this spring game. We've been so consumed with basketball, we've really not had much time to talk about the spring games. We had one last week in a couple of more tomorrow. And then the following week we begin to wind things down. Cole. Joining us now from Oxford and co always great to talk to you before we talk football. We have to talk about your of minor. I know I think you're game will be over within time for you to watch the Auburn Tigers and the final four you kidding me. Unbelievable. It's a basketball school now week we come on at three central. We get off the air five. They have two hour window the game tips at five oh nine I'm going to get my rental car. I'm going to get back to the hotel as fast as humanly possible watch the game there. I need to sit down to focus on the game. And then I have to get back to Birmingham. My daughter's birthday party is on Sunday. So I'll get back late Saturday night. But I told my wife, I'm not going to be driving trying to listen to it on the way home. I'm going to try to get back and make tip in nine minutes after our game completes and try to hope watch this Bruce Pearl and over tiger basketball run can continue. I wish him the best. It's been a lot of fun. I say Paul I have learned what March madness is. I think we all thought we know what March madness is. But until you. Have team that's advancing. And you're sitting on the edge of your seat each and every week my wife, who's an Auburn graduate. We're down at the beach last week and wanted to Kentucky game, and she's doing her high school cheerleading moves jumping up and down and spinning around. I mean, it's been it's been a really really cool thing to watch. And I just hope that they can continue that run. Let's get to the almost football situation. And really the big story in the off season wasn't so much good recruiting class, but it was too new coordinators both very successful head football coaches in the Pac twelve and other places. I should say talk a little bit about what you've learned today, and what we are going to see tomorrow. And obviously in the fall. Well, I think you star Paul with just the move that Matt lewd mate, and then also with Ross Bjork behind that the athletic director here at ole miss helping him out giving both of those guys three year contracts with a substantial salary, but showing that they are committed to winning football games for a long time. When you have a young coach, that's not tenured and has it held that position for very long. Now he has to. Guys, right on staff that he could walk down the hall to run things by talk about gay management talk about game preparation. Very valuable. I believe for Matt Lukin. This miss football team on the field started defensively. I'm most excited to see that a lot of people are angered with rich. Rod. We know what kind of offense is he's head of the past. Very exciting prolific. But defensively I actually think the shift to a three four defense is going to benefit these players greatly..

"The travel and entertainment guys here to make you smarter. Tornado warnings all over the place and racy weather. You know, that's really nice of those guys to come down on a Sunday. Sit brought his family with him that was kind of neat and into it it shows. But you know, what it shows why they're having less trouble too in Sacramento because like you said it's about leadership. And so these guys are down here on a Sunday taking advantage of an opportunity to go on the air and tell everybody that they're you know, how things are going and stuff like that. And so that that's that's one of the reasons they're not having a problem is because they're taking their on top of it, and they're real proud of their workforce. Well, and I'm proud of the fact that there that people around the community are stepping up and are helping out a little bit. So that's a great thing. Mr. quake Whitehead is joined us in the studio now and you saw come from away. Also, I did about two weeks ago. Yeah. So what did you think it was one of the most? Dominique and extraordinary pieces of theater I've ever seen doesn't it. Make you wanna go to Newfoundland and meet those levels -solutely. Absolutely. Just. It was just a hundred minutes of nonstop surprises. I mean, it's a funny story because you know, how it starts, and you know, how it end. Yeah. But you don't know anything in between. And it was it was heartwarming and happy and sad. And. It was everything you want. But no intermission. So don't drink a lot of Kokubo before you sit down, and it will be I believe, and we talked to Richard Lewis is coming up next. And I was talking to Richard earlier this week about the schedule for next year. And he says it's already intact. And I was trying to get some getting to drop names or something any wouldn't yesterday word is a way as twenty season, which is going to happen in memorial auditorium downtown. They're about to redo the community center theater. The word is that deer. Evan Hansen and come from away or part of the new season. Well, and come from way has a very minimalist set. So it strikes me that that would go. Well, for the across the street thing where they may not have as many, you know, special tricks and stuff that they can do with the state, so a simpler stage although yesterday in San Francisco, I was telling Tom the turntable broke down that they were working on about twenty minutes before the end of the show. And anyways, they did a great job. We had a great time Clayton you are headed out on a cruise in Australia, which is what seventeen eighteen days. Good day mate. Yeah. I've been practicing that is that the eighteen days that include the the ten days it takes to get there and get back actually, it's only fifteen hours out of. Yeah, we fly down and change planes there. And we'll be down there. Almost three weeks a four day LAX three weeks. No, hopefully, not nearly three weeks. We'll be in Sydney for four days to kind of get our feet as they say and acclimate to the time zone. And then we'll begin a cruise that has a few ports on the coast to in Tasmania. And then most of its focus is on the west coast of. So it's. Fifteen hours you said from Los Angeles, fifteen hours. Okay. And you despite your your your status in United and anybody that you know, and stuff, you're you're you're back in the great unwashed section. I'm guessing I hope to be at the front of the great unwashed ic- so economy, plus sodomy fuss. But so you've got those few extra precious inches of of of legroom. But still it's a long flight. It's too full body rotations. I mean, you know, I consider eight hours to kind of be up you get up. You've got your morning and your afternoon, and then your evening and your night, and then you sleep for then you start over what are you doing to prepare for the flight? And what are you taking with you on the flight to help you get through fifteen hours? Well, I'm not. As I used to be. I'm fifty five. Now, I will confess I have invested in compression, stockings and compression shorts that I'll be wearing shorts for a while. This'll be my first time with stockings. We'll see.

"It doesn't always bode, well, especially when the runner-up is who they face so two thousand five comes to mind with Reggie Bush and Vince young Reggie Bush went Heisman since been vacated. But he did win to no five who won the national championship that year, then she on two thousand Oklahoma, Florida state comes to mind, Chris Wiki beat out Josh hypol- and Oklahoma shut out the Florida state offense that game in fact Heisman winners who have to play the runner-up in a national championship setting are only two and four. In those games either. Either playoff. BCS national championship or sort of defacto national title game in the old bull system. So I can tell you that the Alabama defense will be doing the next couple of weeks in that might be bad news for Oklahoma down in the ORs speaking history Kokubo from ESPN had this stat. He tweeted this out Nick Sabin is Owen to against Heisman Trophy winners. The season they won the award as Alabama head coach Cam Newton at twenty ten. Johnny Manziel twenty twelve and he's one in four off time beat Jason white and three with LSU but lost Charles Woodson ninety seven of Michigan state and lost around and ninety nine with Michigan state. So. Nick save is really going to pick it up. It's really bad. What do you got? That's great. That's like the only negative stat of ever heard about saving at least in the last ten years. That's a good one. My extra point has to do and. It was triggered earlier in the show. And we were talking about will Greer when I was flying Lanta for the Home Depot awards show last week. I went down Wednesday the day after the hall of fame dinner on my flight. Were several people who had been at the dinner, including Vince Dooley. And and Fred Goldsmith, and Fred Goldsmith for people who may not remember that name was the head coach at rice was the head coach at Duke in the eighties and nineties and while he was at rice he had a running back named Trevor Cobb who was inducted into the hall of fame last week. And Fred is retired. He's living in the mountains of North Carolina. And he was telling me what how wonderful it had been to see Trevor Cobb honored to see one of his players on the hall of fame. What struck me about? This was not merely the delight you took in Cobb getting the award. But he said Trevor invited the his entire offense of line to come. Celebrate with him, and they all came and just to see the look on Fred's face as he was describing the. What is now several decades old bond between Cobb and his own lineman was really gets really to the heart of what we were talking about with with the message of team and the bond that these guys billed as they grow up together from the age of eighteen to the age of twenty two, and that's something that we don't celebrate enough. And really should celebrate more. So just wanted to tell that story and congratulate again, not only Trevor Cobb, but Fred Goldsmith, really good and piggybacking off of that West Virginia their offensive lineman could use also skipping the Camping World bowl as well. So see WVU does without Greer and a very good offensive live for my extra point. I'll go back to the Heisman as Mary wanted on Saturday night, and we had a Heisman special on ESPN radio.

And I'm not saying that I'm giving teeing a head coaching change will be made. I still stay that. I think malzahn will be the head football coach at Auburn in two thousand nineteen but you would only think that he makes him staff adjustments that he looks to bring in someone new who can help create authencity who can do some different things authencity not may not even be a new offense coordinator. But just somebody on staff who can help them develop new schemes help them develop around different players. I believe there's going to be a different quarterback in their next year. You're going to have the same offensive line. You're going to have the same tailbacks in a lot of the same wide receiver. So the personnel won't be overhauled. But I do think you need some additions to come in and help try and push that offense to the next level. And that's on Gus malzahn, what does he want? What does he think he needs to come in and helped get his offense back on track? They lose a game by three scores are to be a lot of unhappy fans. "To talk college football each and every Monday at the college football weekend. We love having Cole cubelic gone. Does a great job of ESPN college football analysts can't wait to hear his thoughts from the weekend and the weekend coming up, and I'm going to fast forward to the weekend coming up so many of these teams have these what I call a BI week. They're plant FCS schools or lower level schools just to have that extra arrest. I guess before they go into the final couple of weeks of the season. What are your thoughts on the bye week happening with major college football this weekend? Just as far as these teams playing all these all these non conference games. Yes. Yes. I get it. I understand it. You know, it's a way to plug them in and potentially get some guys rested essentially have two weeks to prepare for your big rival. And then obviously a game that these games have different meanings. You look at you could attain like like, Florida. This game is gonna mean a lot for them. If they win this game. They're not they're not going to do the college football playoff. But this is one that if they get consorted put a stamp on their season a real positive on their season. So if you can have some extra time to prepare and place him younger guys play some walk ons. I'm cool with that. I get it. I understand why people don't like it. But I'm also not mad about it. Because I know the development of players and certain programs, and how that needs to happen in the length of time that that takes to actually get it done. I am against people. Call calling these cupcake games because I like cupcakes. Cupcakes her good cupcakes from tasty. And I want a lot of cupcake's. Why are we calling something cupcakes that none of us want to see? Let's call these lettuce games because there's no use for lettuce. Nobody wants lettuce on their sandwich. Nobody asked for extra lettuce on their sandwich. So I think we've got to come up with something else. Besides cupcake fellows because that doesn't work. I want cupcakes in my life. I need him in my life. I don't need these games. Let's go KO because I'll like lettuce on my cheeseburger. I like lettuce on my kale. I'm alex. So can we go kale overly goal? I'm cool with it. Cupcakes as far as aren't cupcakes that have the best chance to beat Alabama. And this has been a very common question. And I think there's one team in my opinion. I see it's Clemson your team for the of anyone. That's the best shot to beat Alabama. Is whom I think we've even kicked this around a little bit. Maybe like a week four or five throughout Oklahoma is a team with that offense that I would be interested to see kind of how that went down. You know, we we through obviously clemson's going to be one that was in the mix then Ohio State was one lettuces physicality and the way that they could throw the ball around. I think it would be a team that people thought maxim talent for talent. But I think of narrowed this down to Clemson, honestly, I really have and one of the reasons is I think Alabama has played the best secondary. And the best front seven the last two weeks that they're gonna see including the playoffs. You can take eighteen you want anybody that they might play. I don't think they're going to face a better secondary than LSU or a better front seven in Mississippi State. That's just my opinion. Yes, Clemson has a better deal on across the board the Mississippi State, but if we're talking front seven I'm gonna go with the BULLDOGS, and I'll tell you guys it's becoming increasingly frustrating. It's a CD's teams that are twenty four twenty six thirty two point underdogs against Alabama and taking the field with nothing to lose not a chance inhaled. Go win, these football games and just pin down their leg. I mean, we this game Saturday with Mississippi State, and you got one of the best centers in college football who's hitting his quarterback in in in the in between the legs three different times. We'll snaps because he's not ready. You got you got guys that are turning defensive lineman loose upfront on basic calls that they should know that they should make Nick FitzGerald missing zone recalls. You got running backs and quarterbacks when they run the football or trying to go east and west against this defense. They're not taking shots down the field in one on ones. The LSU's run and slide protection an eight-man protection on every play in Jonesboro can barely get a shotgun. Snap without having to elude an Alabama defender when they played them. So I think I've narrowed it down to Clemson, honestly. And it's not even because talent, and it's not even because of ability or scheme or coaching. I think they might be the only team in college football that wouldn't poop on themselves. If they had to say. Very had a great plan against Alabama. And they just completely went out there. Williams looked like Warren Sapp against Nebraska. I can't even reset. I guess that's Kokubo college football because he's on such a terror about how people wet themselves in Alabama. So essentially what you're saying goal is that Clemson is Maximus right going into the arena for the first time in the movie gladiator and everybody else is that dude in front of him that wets himself, right? And he just takes a step back saying, but the problem is the reason that doesn't work. You're you're part of the analogy does work the reason it doesn't work is that Clemson has been in this arena in the majority. Trevor Lawrence hasn't done it. But a lotta guys on this team have done it in a lot of guys on this team have done more than once on on a gigantic stage mean this'll be Alvin Clemson round four if we get it. Remember that guy's got it. There are a lot of guys on this football team that have done it a lot of them that want it in a lot of them lost a couple too. So they know what it takes to go out there and do it. And I think that Clemson maybe the one team in college football on that stage that could that would be most confident to go out and just play their game. And just do what they do in just be themselves. And you know, what if they're better that night, then they can probably go beat Alabama. But some of these other teams if they have some better players or better units or matchups that favor them they have not been able to take advantage of them. And I think I might do. I think that the Michigan defense could be interesting. Absolutely. Do I think the Oklahoma offensive line with quarterback you give them a few advantages? Sure. But I think from an emotional mental standpoint clemson's the team that I have the most confidence in right now. Do I ask you about form, Ohio State assistance act Smith who went off on Twitter on Texas? Coach Tom Harmon include. Leading calling out his infidelity that had gone on. According to Zach Smith. When they were together as coach at Ohio State. It's unfortunate really and truly because any organization or educational inst-. Wintrust thanks.

"I'm gonna win. But their fans are winning today. So far, Chris is up next. Go right ahead. Dress. Hey. We are having a blast down here up here wherever we are. Confetti fan to reality. Check Kentucky this year. Granted they'd be Florida. But they remind me of that Notre Dame team that what was the twenty thirteen or they're barely beating. They got that great defensive player like man tied pay then it's Josh Allen. But then when they actually play a really really good team. Guess what happened? They got being rolled over. And I guarantee you Kirby smart get a go into this game thinking that Kentucky's the best team on the planet. And we're going to be ready. I dare I bet you gotta be like thirty six to fourteen go. Thanks. You were listening to Paul finebaum show podcast and we're about to head down to Gainesville right now. And we're joined by co Q book thea from the SEC network. He'll be part of the coverage of Missouri at Florida Cole. Thanks for the time. So here comes Missouri. After a devastating last second loss trying to pull themselves back together again, Florida being thrashed as well. Help us understand this game better tomorrow afternoon. Good afternoon. Paul. Thanks for having me. I think if you're Missouri. You have to find some offense you go eight consecutive three announce in the second half of that game. It's just unacceptable with a first round draft. Pick a quarterback like drew lock solid offense of line in more than capable SEC. Tailbacks? I don't understand how your offense can get that. Bog down even against a good Kentucky defense, and then you mentioned the mental and the emotional aspect of balancing back after a loss like that. And you have to do it in the swamp against a very aggressive defense led by Todd Grantham who is at full strength of front on defense and can apply that pressure usually with just four or five rushers? So I think drew has his hands full tomorrow. This Florida rushing attack has steadily begun to improve. I tell you. I think Florida is very close to being very explosive on offense. When you study them on film. There are some things that are right around the corner that are ready to explode for this Gators offense. And the defense is given up a lot of explosive plays could. See it happen tomorrow Kokubo joining us co let's there's so many games to talk about want to get your input on as many as we have time for the one here where we are Georgia visiting Kentucky. What's what's the most important aspect of this game two year? I think the Kentucky defense has to win on first down because if they can force Jake from into third longs. I know he was great against Florida on third down. But Kentucky has one guy named Josh Allen on the edge that can affect the pocket and disrupt the pocket on third longs. If he can force that offense in those situations Kentucky defense has a chance to make this game close. And then obviously Terry Wilson's going to have to bring some balance. Paul. It can't just be snail. The Georgia front seven is not what they were year ago. But they're still pretty good. They have good players. They have talent. And I don't think that that Kentucky offense is going to be able to survive being one dimensional. So contrary Wilson provides some explosive plays with his legs. And can he do some things through the air? And it can't just be. Voted anymore. They've been forced feeding him the football somebody else's got to step up. "What's? What's he capable of? Well, this is a kid. It was the two sport athlete coming out. Paul baseball football, a four point. Oh, student comes from a great background, very intelligent kid. I think he's one of those kids that gets mislabeled as being dual threat quarterback because he's such a gifted runner, and you make an assumption that he doesn't have the same skill set as a passer. And I think there's the couldn't be anything further from the truth. What makes Justin field? So dangerous is that he happens to be a really gifted passer. Oh, that by the way, happens to be a dynamic athlete is well. Now they haven't chosen to use him as much in the passing game. He's been a little bit more of a change of pace. Like I mentioned, bring you in Tom FOX. Tom in in terms of this game? I mean, what? What? What? What you we look for me? It was just the kind of game is back and forth goes down to the end. Do you think Georgia has enough might to pull away what? What should we watch for? It'd be really. I'd be really surprised Paul, if somebody pulls away on either side in this one, I think this is gonna come down to quarterback play. Do you get behind the chains if you're on offense, if you're LSU or you're Georgia, and who's the most efficient football team in terms of red zone offense? If you get down on the red area, you've got to come away with points. If you do, you'll win the game. And finally, since we are in Auburn, I wanna get your assessment of Auburn. They take on Tennessee. It's not a game anybody's really overly worried about, but they are worried about the rest of the season down here. Authencity it has been painful to watch at times, whereas Gus malzahn offense right now, they just seemed to be in that area where you wished the quarterback is gifted of passers Jarret stidham is you kind of wish the quarterback was more involved as designated runner. Because when you watched all when they've been at their best offense, it's win. The quarterback has been every bit a part of the run game as either the two other running backs in the backfield. And when you talk to Gus malzahn and describes his offense, he'll say, we're at two back, play action team. But when you remove the quarterback counter the quarterback power, some of the zone read out of that, this is not been a successful of an interruption of this offense. And I think it's also magnified some of the issues that they have within the offense of line. So that's not. To take away from the talent of Jarret stidham what this particular offense in my opinion doesn't operate as well when you don't have a runner under center, and I think that's affected them negative negatively to this point the season. Tom ligament part of the call for Vanderbilt hosting, Florida game on ESPN at noon eastern. Thank you, Tom. Thank you very much. Listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Coal is in Little Rock where tomorrow night he'll be doing ole miss and Arkansas Cole. Thanks for the time. We'll talk about that game in a minute, but I want to get your thoughts on Auburn because since that very nasty loss last week, there's been a lot of noise coming out of here. I, I've been here couple of hours of already heard about players meetings of strange comments you're about as close to this program as anyone what's going on down here. Well, Paul, anytime you lose games in your supposed to win games and you have one side of the ball playing better than the other side of the ball. You're gonna have some dissension in the locker room guys. These are eighteen nineteen twenty year old players. They don't understand every level of maturity. They don't understand how to handle themselves in certain situations. And I look at the way. His team has played. I understand some of the frustration I was on an Auburn football team in nineteen ninety nine that ran for one hundred yards. In one game, we had a top ten defense..

"Enter bets. We welcome in one of the guys I trust more than anybody at the network when it comes down to Xs and os looking at schemes and just looking at stuff from a from a vantage point that not everyone else does. That's Kokubo Colt. Thanks again for doing this man. Now I'm glad to be with you. Thanks for having me co. You'll be on the sidelines for ole miss and Arkansas. Seven thirty eastern as you see network Saturday night. We'll get to that one a little bit later as that should have plenty of fireworks, but let's go to Baton Rouge. Let's go. Let's talk Georgia. Let's talk LSU. I watched LSU Florida back again last night and I really worried about their inability to get to the passer with four guys and with from I just feel like he's good enough to be able to to pick your part when you can't pressure him. Is that the biggest week, this relish you as defense. Maybe maybe if Caleb on chase on doesn't go down early in the season against Miami, we, we might be having that conversation. I still think they have some dudes of front, and I think that's one of the reasons that you see them sort of mix and match what they do from oppressor perspective, but pressure. It's not usually six, seven, eight guys. They usually stick with a four four-man pressure, but it's some kind of blitz scheme, but just not bringing many rushers. It's what they had a lot of success doing against Auburn. They only restaurant one time against it, and it was a trigger blitz late in the game, but you'll see Devon white do because he's good. He's the guy who can sort of make people miss and he's a guy who can get field and Jacob Phillips and other guy that has the speed to be able to rush the passer and do different things. So here's the tricky part of that is Georgia finishes the game against Vanderbilt last week, the senior center to first offense lineman into second year offense lineman. So however you wanna mix it up. True freshmen, read. Sir, freshman, true, sophomore, whatever, but to first year to second year. Got they had trouble in one on ones in past pro against Tennessee. They had trouble picking up packages against Vanderbilt, so where the advantage comes for Tim Cheney is how much he loves to attack the perimeter and Georgia has so many weapons this year, but it's just gonna be an onslaught out on the edge. How do you handle it? How much can you make you run? How do you get? And then they'll try to attack you in the middle of field a little bit later. But to counter that, Dave rant is going to be able to bring guys like gray Delpit, even greedy Williams in these corners come up and play physical football. They don't mind tackling. So I think again, kind of similar to that Auburn matchup earlier in the year, where does Dave Iran to want to try to win the numbers game? Does he take chances? Maybe some main coverage, bring extra guys to the line of scrimmage, try to bring pressure packages. Did he play close to the line of scrimmage out on the perimeter to try to take away too quick throws and not make as much of his defense run outside on a regular basis. So that chess match will absolutely decide this game in my opinion. And a lot of. That'll be how much listen you got McKinley back at guard for George allegedly gonna practice this week probably be ready to go. That'll help, but it's still a very young and somewhat inexperienced group. So being in Baton Rouge, none of these kids played there. Let's not forget that..
