"With the oblique so i would drop him sorry listeners. I've bloated onto pickups that they got injured in ways i couldn't see mary whether in than alex carroll arizona activated walking story i think he's getting saves stuff and creding i think sawyer. We'll get saves at some point but there's no reason to chase down today crichton for now all right By the weightiness sleeker for you got. I would keep an eye on the way that jonathan. Isaac is being used for the yankees. They are now starting to use them at high leverage work. but it can't get safes. Oh he could if things happen as they do. Occasionally with chapman. He's had an injury he would have to be hurt. There's always a chance that a guy like that could have a ten day. I'll stint some saves you get for could ca- johnny lasagna. Be like petite in oakland winning nine games and with the array of like three and ninety strikeouts. That'd be valuable pitcher. Unfortunately no because it's not the way the yankees have been shifting him lately. They're they're they're kind of locking them into the eighth inning role. that looked like it was chad. greens initially. they're not zach rating. It'll be zach britton soon ron. You'd think but that's at least july first Lots of games on thursday. That start in the afternoon. When that doesn't mad bomb bumgarner at miami up again but great matches for bumgarner is facing pablo lopez who seems to have graduated into like top twenty five starting pitchers status. Here you're a whip. He's not allowing anything striking people out and we all thought it was but lopez looks just as good by the way i i love lopez skills wise. I think he is a very underrated. Pige pure pitcher These two guys. You mentioned have the same opponent in their next two starts. Its bumgarner road. Miami hosting miami next and vice versa for pablo lopez on friday. Philadelphia's atlanta and charlie morton is the pitcher and Is as good but is really array for us is not and he's given up four plus three of his four starts and he's already already seen the phillies twice and hit him a little bit. Charlie morton i think i ranked them in the top thirty thirty a month ago. And i'm not doing it anymore. Is this about age is just bad luck. Is he going to be fine. What do you think the first thing i think is. I'd love to do a deep dive on the curve ball because The performance of that pitch on the postseason was what encouraged me about this season. Still missing bats. I'm mostly still in. But i see your point about the phillies having handled them recently. This matchup makes me uncomfortable. Corbin burns's supposed to pitch on friday coming off the injured list. Is that correct. And they are now hinting that they're not going to announce something until at least tomorrow. So i'm i'd be careful. But you always facing trevor rogers a miami and kyle ass is is burns at the anchor and i would say is rogers a anchor. I've seen three days of milwaukee hitters and. I'm not impressed. Mean they've got bogle bach playing against lefties and righties batting third or fourth no yellowish canes kind of shelve himself They're missing some players there. Trevor rogers looks really good. Hold it miami. Had a good season. I think he can be a divas anchor. I'm looking at the day and trying to decide. Who is the anchor of the day. Water rodriguez now rodion at kansas city. Perhaps oriented like that orients against the other. La teams interesting. Orioles is good or is going to be in my top. Twenty next among starting pitchers the number furriest. That's the only like but like i said like ten minutes ago like what if the dodgers can't afford to do that this season because they don't have any depth is david price making ten starts. Probably not so. I think might lead the team in innings. I'll be honest. i don't see any chance that happens. I just don't think they're going to do it. I you're right that they could be forced into that corner. But i what they being so careful of with him. His history is scary. all right. that's the only thing. Ed i'm with you on skill. They need to be pushing them end. There's the debate to be made that you should be giving a guy like that one hundred and eighty innings by the way with rogers. I'm with you on that. I'd love to see the price. I think price is probably going to drive a little bit of a friday slate. I'm just i see a scenario where holy areas is the most valuable dodgers pitcher this season. Oh yeah nothing against bueller and kershaw but orioles going seven innings and half his starts striking everybody out. I understand what you're saying about the injury history. But i think the dodgers he's twenty four now. I think they let a pitch. I think there's a way they. The innings leader the winds leader. The strikeout leader everything most valuable pitcher on the staff. The real problem is that i don't think he's even met a hundred innings in quite some time. That's the only problem i have with them. It's been it's been twenty sixteen and that was one hundred twenty two innings all right. Here's saturday and This the first game of the days on espn plus and it's max scherzer and corey kluber and Are you are you in kluber. You're never really out but like this is a big outing for view him fantasy. Isn't it yes. It is because as i mentioned kluber is not doing what he did when he was at his peak. He's made some adjustments. He's a little bit more leaning to finesse than power. And this is a match up that's trickier than the detroit. One where he stood out. I wanna see how he responds in the follow. I'd sit them here. i actually would. You would sit corey kluber in our game ten team and shall i was interesting because his last two starts again. Baltimore detroit fifteen strikeouts in fourteen two two third innings and. I don't know if wants soda was playing. Well actually. he'll be the d. h. Because that the yankees he's gonna play ro yeah he'll play. Why washington is taking it really cautious with one soto the not letting play the field yet but i assume for the weekend at yankee stadium. He will yeah. The only have like the difference between washington is that the forecasts regret gives a twenty three points away on base which is a lot and they lean a little contact oriented. They're kind of meddling there. It's i just match. It scares me. It would soto back Louis theo in that plus six era which doesn't deserve. I mean if you look if you do a little bit of a deep dive and louis cassia. Which i have done. Think i'm all that concerned. Forty hits and twenty nine two thirds that's babba driven is bab right now is Three seventy but emmy other things on him the chase rate career high swing and miss rate. Creer lo it weird like that doesn't make sense in a dumping them but like cleveland. Good matchup. yep you're not dumping him. The only problem is the fastballs bennett. Disaster this year on the philosophies ever so slightly down it's still top grade. I think it's ninety six and a half right now. And cleveland is one of the best ups you could ask. It's not detroit from matchups of from matchup standpoint. but it's up there as one of the five most favorable. He's got to step up here and he'd do it with me and his lineup..

A Conversation About Section 230 and the Future of the Internet

"Week. Senior reporter addie robertson. Who have heard on the broadcast many times before held an event about section two thirty. That's the law that says platforms aren't liable for their users publish. It is a critical lot. The internet also just turned twenty five years old last month. So addy held an event with a keynote by senator. Amy klobuchar democrat from minnesota is one of the sponsors of the tech act. That's an act that would reform section to thirty as well as a panel featuring michael chia. Who's the general counsel video sedan. Harry is a researcher writer. And a strategist human attack and amana keeping general counsel at wicca media which runs wikipedia. Talking about where section two thirty is where might go in the future. So we're going to run some highlights of that event for today addie and russell are gonna join talk about how it went and what they heard what they thought and as it happens here right now. Russell has done good. Love it addie. Congratulations on your event. It was a good one. Hey thank you so. Tell me how you think. The event went. And then i'm going to hand over the episode to you and we can listen to some highlights and talk it through. But how do you think of went. I thought it went well. One of the things i like about. Section two thirty is that. It's just a really weird conversation that people kept asking okay. What sides her can there are like fifty different sides and we had a really pretty interesting spread of perspectives and senator klobuchar speech was really good scene. Setter and i'm overall pretty happy. Yeah you know. What i thought was really interesting. Just as i watched the whole event senator klobuchar has some very strong perspectives. About what can be done in those perspectives. We're definitely not shared by the entire panel. In fact the safe tech act is it's it's always interesting to me to hear. Senators talked about their own legislation. 'cause they always make it seem so common sense but it's actually quite controversial. Some of the changes that she was proposing. Oh yeah absolutely well and also like you know. She addition to talk to thirty. She takes a pretty hard line on antitrust. I was actually surprised by how sort of enthusiastic she was about it. And i sort of imagine. The video guy is sitting there easter like. She's talking about breaking up google. He's like yeah. Okay a lot of the sort of civil society tech people which this is part of what we wanted to introduce the conversation like. They don't have a problem with antitrust. They are mostly hoping that section two thirty doesn't get changed in a way that makes it impossible to have wikipedia exist and then bringing up things like misinformation also just throws its own kind wrench into things because that's actually not largely problem that addressed with section two thirty and so you end up slipping weird stuff like first amendment reforming there. Yeah this was. I think is the panel went on the combination of we think facebook too big but if we changed to thirty to punish facebook we might end up punishing ourselves and then senator klobuchar talking about an inch. Just dead ahead. And even to some extent bringing up the idea of breakup as a potential remedy. All of that is a swirl and we've been talking on swirl for for some time and it was just really interesting to hear the spread of perspectives during this event. So at russell. I'm excited for this. Why don't you start and take us through this event and what we heard. Yeah absolutely. I think the one thing i want to start with this sort of like the chronological beginning. But like you know. I always like it when these things make a little news. And i think i was very interested to hear santa club. Stars line on antitrust. She sort of coming to the fore of like the democrats antitrust policy. She wrote a book called antitrust and is the chairman of the subcommittee on competition policy antitrust and consumer rights which is basically the senate home for antitrust policy so she's really sort of at the forefront of it and i thought it was interesting she a lot of time she gets gloucestershire's like this moderate voice but she was pretty harsh on facebook. Here we have. We have this clip at the root of this problem lies the ability of a few companies to act as gatekeepers and as we see when they dominate markets exclude rivals buy out their competitors. We've got a problem. In the emailed words of mark zuckerberg. These businesses are nascent but the networks established. The brands already meaningful. And if big go to a large scale could be very disruptive to us they could be very disruptive to us. I always about the tech industry was about disruption it's about disrupting the status quo and bringing in new good ideas that basically blow up the marketplace in a positive way we can't have monopoly stopping disruption so in a way the work i am doing is simply a reply to that email so the interesting thing so this was this was something that we had on the site like dual casey and nikolai byline. When the antitrust hearing happened he's talking about instagram and path so instagram they bought path proved not to be disruptive to facebook. I think it's fair to say but this is not a public statement. He meant to make. And i do think i don't know i mean do do we do. We hear this. And think like amy kluber. Shar is on team break-up facebook it feels like it will qualify that by saying at the very least it's team don't let facebook acquire anybody else. Yeah but team break-up facebook. I don't know it definitely seems like it's on the table ray. Which is very interesting so there have been on the left. A lot of really aggressive sort of pushes for stronger antitrust like we need some new like we need to empower the justice department. We need some new legislation that will enable us to kind of go after these businesses more heavily. And it's fairly recent that closure is trying to to kind of lead that i mean she just. She's only now coming to the to the lead on this committee. And i think because she ran in the democratic primary sort of as a moderate voice. She's been glossed as like. Well she's not in the end gonna like usher in this new era of trust busting but then elsewhere in the keynote. She's talking about well. You know it worked pretty well when we did this against. At and i mean. I don't know. I'm still kind of undecided. It's always hard to know how committed people are going. It's going to be a really politically difficult road to walk. If they move on. you know.

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone on leave while recovering from pacemaker surgery

"Got word about our old friend. Aaron boone yesterday that he had surgery to get a pacemaker. He had Boyne through some tasks and he said in a statement that he said mild symptoms of lightheadedness low energy and shortness of breath. Over the last six to eight weeks I texted him yesterday afternoon and he texted back. I'm about ready to go in feeling good and i exchanged sex again with him this morning. and It seems like he absolutely feeling better. It doesn't sound like he's going to be gone for very long from the yankees dugout with so many advances in heart treatment and boonie knows more about that than anybody because course he had open heart surgery a little bit more than a decade ago. Yankees general manager. Brian cashman talked. About how aaron boone told him about the procedure when he first told me A number of days ago. What was going on with today's science which is so incredibly impressive that you know this is now patient situation and you can be up and running within twenty four to forty eight hours and back to normal and and you know just the way he communicated with me. Put me at ease that you know. If he's good. You know i felt my takeaway was if he's really in a good place in a good place because all i care about his him or yankees pitcher corey kluber. Yeah i think obviously you know ever wants to hear anything like that. You made a video kind of reassuring everybody That he felt confident. In you know the the procedure fell communist balanced back from it. And obviously that's that's reassuring to hear. I've seen time you hear about a a heart issue or like that. It's pretty alarming. So i think you know to hear from him that he was confident. And i think that'd probably puts everybody a little bit more. These

"Is i. Don't see anybody on the on the market. Not named trevor bauer. That's gonna come in and alleviate those concerns that's where we know there were probably guys so i think a mistake was not going harder after landslide overtures that would fit in. We agree with the luxury tax. He was making ten million dollars. This year you just don't pay corey. Kluber his eleven million. And you get lance lynn. I'd much rather have that and give up prospects. Yeah so you're trying to win a world series. I i agree with you. I thought was a perfect fit for this roster. He's a perfect fit. He's adorable. I we know what he is. He smells like hotdogs. It's a good deal for the new york yankees. That that kind of guy you can rely upon. That's a hawse. Give me that guy. He doesn't have to be the number one. You know one of the best pitchers in baseball which he was showing last year but he can do years in a row. He was showing. He can show that. He's you know a good pitcher a two three guide. That's that's what you would need him to be in this in this rotation and he fits that beautifully and if you get more than that great and that's a guy who showed it recently so yes. I do agree with that. I think that's that's one of the miss on on their end. Although you could argue that cashman did identify that talent correctly the first time and then and then screw it up. And then he wasn't sticking to his guns with it. I guess who got fooled andrzej happen the hell knows. That's i can't go back down that that path but there's nobody else today. Taiwan walker is not gonna make me feel better no but also the padres traded for joe musco flake yesterday trademark and. I'm talking with the free agency. Market the trademark shakey's heavy. Why aren't the yankees more active on the trade market. Maybe maybe to your point that maybe cashman is a little gun shy in that and they're just identifying these situations and i don't know talent they don't agree with what was given from us growth that they didn't want to go to that level or they don't have. I don't know what the reasons are. It's clearly there are attached. I'm sure cashman's having conversations with gm's that are making these guys available and for whatever reason whether it's a deal it's not as good or they don't believe in the player they're not there so you got to believe that that they're this castio. Rumor mill has some some legs to it. Right there smoke. There's usually fire so there were conversation. Come back around. it could come back. I until the playoffs are so far away but we sit here today. It's not even february and we know the yankees don't have enough pitching. Maybe that'll change between now tober but if it doesn't change between now and october we're going to be sitting here seven months from now talking about the same shit. The same thing that bit keeps biting this team in the ass year after year. Why do they keep getting bounced from the playoffs. Because they can't make contact enough and because they don't have any starting pitching your after year after year. Do you see an opportunity. Here where the yankees identify the fact that they can't stay under the tax threshold and then make a move. Or because let's say that let's say for instance if they if they were to trade. Clint frazier for A louis castio or another player. Like louis castio right now. You have avoid in left field. You can do one of two things you can stay under the luxury tax gogi brett gardner and have him platoon out there again. With whoever talk men and you know enter player here you can. You can do that right. Your offense will still probably be good. Your defense will be a be fine with with garner or you. You could go after you know a couple of guys that are still on the mark. There's george springer still out there Your boy branly still out there who would fit that beautifully and this team beautifully. So there's there's opportunities still to go over the tax threshold to make the team better. Do you think they're willing to do that. No because i think that's what if they were willing to do it they wouldn't have signed. Dj lemay who to six years part of kluber deal with the eleven million is making me think that maybe maybe for the right opportunity that they would cause they're why do you even bother signing. Dj mayhew to six years. That's not a smart. If you don't care about going over the luxury tax now you do not want to have to pay him. Fifteen million dollars in two thousand. And i told you this is a matter for four years or six years you just. He doesn't have to play if he's not good at that point. Like who cares. You're still paying. You're just eating fifteen million dollars on your luxury tax in two thousand and twenty five. I still believe that the the deal is spread over six years. But that's not based on the total amount less. I if if dj said no. I'm not doing six years. The deal would probably be pretty damn close to four or five years. Same amount of money. I don't think the money would have changed too much very involved with the way that it's spread out very very conspicuous that his deal lines up so they were able to add corey kluber and still be just under the luxury tax. This you cannot tell me. This is not premeditated. No i look. I think that's that's a very huge possibility. My thing my other side playing devil's advocate to look at another opportunity here because that's what we're doing is saying publicly the don't want to handcuff themselves that much by signing corey kluber a guy who just came off of a shoulder. Injury hasn't pitched in two years and is gonna be thirty six years old. Hopefully they didn't just handcuff themselves. Because of that role of the dice with an old man so back in two thousand seventeen the yankees did not want to pull the trigger on justin verlander. Because one of the reasons was because they didn't want to take on his salary and they wanted to eventually reset their luxury tax. I don't know if they will be that gun shy again this year. If there's a move where they could add just money and get a really quality player to add to a world series run. However i don't expect them between now and the start of the regular season to add payroll to what they currently have. I think they're going to try and subtract payroll okay. that's possible. I mean. I think it seems like they. They made their to moves and A barring trade which doesn't add payroll in my opinion the way that the the the type of player they're gonna go after is not really going to add payroll in fact it might reduce it depending on who. You're getting rid of right not a lot but some of the arbitration numbers mean if you got rid of frazier. He only makes two point. One million dollars voice could be a trade kennedy. He makes four point seven million dollars. Yup so i mean you're looking at those guys. As probably the ones that that i would i would circle or shell said gio a shallow but i would much rather trade lou voight the jewish shell at this point. I don't think your shell has much trade value to be honest. But he's a good player on your team but it's not like a big not be trade. I don't think that value actually trials void for or neither voight or shall have good trade value void a little bit more but but yet the Especially if there's a d. h. i generally don't have good trade value. That said there's just a lot of money to be shed so not there. What are you gonna do eat half of atom out of the nose contract. Wouldn't you rather just see if he can turn into another equality reliever again like because they also need bullpen help. It's not like this team is stacked in the bullpen anymore. They'd kind of have gotten thinned out in the bullpen. A little bit. Chapman's a year older britons a year older chad greens. A your older. They lost time kaley they have. They lost jonathan holder. Some may say by subtraction. I do think you're talking about johnny lasagna. How can you be bridge guy. Johnny lasagna be a swing..

Clint frazier trevor bauer four years two thousand yesterday two years justin verlander george springer eleven million six years last year seven million dollars february five years corey kluber today october One million dollars Fifteen million dollars two point

"And that's what i want to talk about for for the remainder of the episode is that what do the yankees have. What do what are they capable of pulling off understanding their goal of staying under the luxury tax with before spring training or before the season starts. So we're talking about the full salary. Yeah who knows what they're going to be going to do. Midseason that's going to the season and how it's progressing and along the season is all that kind of stuff is is going to factor into midseason acquisitions. I'm talking about now as we sit here. It's january nineteenth. Spring training is supposed to start mid february and then the season is supposed to start april. First what can they realistically do in that time to improve this team even more because this team as it stands right now is not good enough to win a world series. The team at the beginning of last year at this time was better than the team this year. Well it was better on paper. It was so what we're talking about. All we do is on paper but james paxton was a guy that we were looking at his getting excited about potential because he got injured but the the on paper. There are different things so on paper. Yes when we see the names. We're like okay. We can get excited about that. That's that's a better team because that is what it is on paper but when you're looking at what the yankees have right now. It's just they haven't been in this type of position because there's a lot of what ifs but also they're not injury. What if there are those two but there are young guy. What if on the pitching side and we just haven't been in that situation in a while we're counting on you know a good amount of young guys to to to come out and pitch and i think that that's a better unknown then. Then the injury side of things grated. Injuries can happen to anybody but the ability to be a number three guy. We haven't seen anything from him As far as the potential we've seen him flash that's to me is a A more optimistic upside a more optimistic uncertainty then Going into the season with you know a guy. That's like corey kluber. Who we've seen it before. But if he can pitch for long enough time for even get close to that. The last time the yankees went into a season with this many question marks as far as young guys go in a rotation was two thousand and eight when they went into a rotation with a young phil hughes a young java chamberlain and a young in kennedy and that didn't work out too. Well not saying this is going to be a repeat of two thousand eight. Our hope not because they didn't make the playoffs in two thousand eight but you cannot just. You can't even assume one of them is going to pan out. Well i think jordan. Montgomery is is if we're talking about him and lumpy him into that category he's loving him in. I'm not saying you're good with jeff. Montgomery as as a guy that we depend on. Yes a two years out from tommy john. I'm confident that jordan. Montgomery can give you a very very solid season and you can rely on him to be a very steady three four in the rotation. He's not going to be a number two though right. Yeah i mean sure. That's fine okay. So then were looking at the back right now and Garcia schmidt are the two young question marks. And i think schmidt is even more of a question mark in garcia just because he's not really pitched in the major leagues based on skills. What do you know you mean based on skills. I mean coming up and what we've seen of him. So far david garcia. You know there are people that are would say that. You know durability is a concern for him sure. But i saw i saw with my own eyes. Pitch good major league starts. I saw that. Yes we haven't seen clark do that yet right so it was really doesn't vacuum m- be good. But yes until. Clark schmidt pitches on a major league mound a good start. That's a that's a huge unknown. Sure okay at least every garcia can take a a handful of of regular season starts last year into next year as building blocks. Clark schmidt is starting from from the ground floor trying to work up. Debbie garcia's a couple of steps ahead of him. I don't mind that because if he's just not that good Then you know we have time to figure it out especially with young guy and we know he's got good stuff we know. Aircraft was just gushing over the two of them both of them being major league. Ready gushing gushing. Gotta love erik kratz. But i'm not so sure. I could trust his opinion because i just feel like he's i love everybody kinda guy and no matter what. He's going to have a nice thing. He's going to have positive things to say about everyone. He meets cortra- bet has has risen the ranks. He's overcome the injury. He's proved that he's healthy. It does feel like this is the year for him to take the step like now's the time he's done. He's done what they needed him to do in the minor leagues. He's proven that he can come back healthy and and be that you know stable guy in a rotation. He just needs it. Now do it on the the major league level. And there's a skill level thing there and i think the yankees believed that he has the ability the skill level for his pitching those numbers to translate into the major leagues. And maybe he gets off to a rocky start. But if we're looking at a guy like that who's staying healthy running the course getting out up throwing six innings. I'm fine with being patient with him. If we're going to be patient with corey kluber on an innings from an innings perspective. We should be. We should be patient from a youth's perspective with With clarkson david garcia. Here's they're gonna be bumps but we yeah did definitely patients eighteen months and they're no longer rookies. You let them go through garcia's not a rookie. Whatever to close amuse next year but yeah you let them go through their growing pains. Sure that's fine. Because i think you can still win regular season games with that. My concern again. Goes back to the playoffs because i don't care about the regular season anymore but the concern because you haven't seen it that's it that's it it's just 'cause you haven't seen it from those guys. That's it yeah. It's not the fact that we want a young guy to be good and we want a young guy to take next level and we want a young guy to have the opportunity to take it and now they have it. Here we go. Let's go do i do. I work the because we haven't seen it. But do we want to be impatient for for maturity to happen and for them to actually figure things out and go through the motions there or do we have to like some through four innings. Five innings of corey kluber three runs. Because that's what we're going to see which is worse all day long. I'll take the young guy. I'm fine with having a couple young guys that you roll the dice with and see what you can get on the upside. But when you don't have steady guys other than one pitcher garrett cole that's a huge concern everyone else is a roll. The dice they have four. Roll the dice pitchers in their starting rotation of five..

"kluber" Discussed on The Bronx Pinstripes Show - Yankees MLB Podcast

"Even if you were to sign a guy like kluber some room you figure some things out you move this year you move this you shove some stuff underneath a couple of things and now boom you can get you can still make a trade for luis casio and oh by the way. You still have corey kluber. So i still think there's opportunities to do this. And if it's not custodio for cash to identify players like that where they can make a move have somebody that's controlled longer. The salary is better for what they're trying to do with a luxury tax. And they're giving up you know. Probably more top prospects and just overpaying for someone like that so i still think there's an opportunity there. Yeah i the the geraldine was. There was no guarantee spending the dollars. That's where the problem was trying to significantly get better unless you're going. Trevor bauer. there's not a ton of opportunities to say. Oh yes we're better spent Guaranteeing the eleven million is a little bit interesting though for for kluber and i have no clue what kind of contract he was looking for. Maybe he would not sign a multi year deal but you could have actually fudged around with the tax threshold if you gave kluber say four million bucks for this year with a team option for or a vesting option for next year where he hit certain incentives. He gets twenty million bucks next year or something like that. I mean you probably wouldn't been. You probably wouldn't have landed him because he was you know what i'm saying. He just doesn't want to do that but he's thirty six years old so even if he pitches well this year he's not going to sign a multi year deal next year is he. I don't know two year deal. Maybe if you if you show that he can do well. Though i mean he would. He would put himself in a position. I guess he yesterday. J hap- contract right. If he pitches a solid season he might get the j. deal. Maybe that's his plan But getting to the louis casteel rumors which were if you if you logged on twitter at a certain hour over the weekend the yankees had traded for lewis castio if you logged on twitter like twenty five minutes later everyone whose everyone was calling the reports bullshit so whatever But reportedly the reds were asking for gleyber torres as the centerpiece package for lewis. Castio and brian cashman promptly hung up the phone as he should have for for Lewis castio there was also rumors that miguel and do heart and clint frazier could have been in a package going to cincy. It doesn't sound like any of this is going to happen though. It doesn't sound like it. The the cincinnati gm. Also shit all over these these reports as well. But i would do that too. If i got hung up on what i was asking people i wanted. You know i feel like everybody's asking for gleyber torres every single time. They call to cashman just like seeing if he's sleeping at that moment or you're just off his game like yeah yeah. Sure it's it's not gonna happen. Seemed pretty pretty pretty clearly. That's not going to happen. I really buddy buddy. Boris i yeah i would. I'm sure there's a couple players in the league passion would do that for. But it's it's certainly not louis castio. Yes so i think at this point. It doesn't seem like it's happening. Clint frazier did the fifth year in a row. He's reverted offseason traits. Yup and him are being packaged together. As a is a popular one as well that was the original garrett cole. Wasn't it for pittsburgh which was a different goal at the time head. Hindsight's twenty twenty on that totally different one. A guy neal was was using that. As a cop and i don't see that as a cop because it was a different player so when you're looking at what he was in pittsburgh and what luis castillo is currently. It's pretty damn close to be honest if not leaning a little towards castio. Aren't you a little gun. Shy though of cashman making a move for another guy like louis castio just because of it not working out the last multiple like five times that he's tried to do it sunny gray michael pineda james paxton like it's lewis. Casteel would have been another one of those guys. I don't know man shooter shoot. You know what. I'm saying like you can't be shy. You gotta go. You gotta shoot like saying when you look at all. these vacuum. Michael pineda should have frequent worked out. It should've worked out. The guy has all of the ability in the world. I didn't i still would have made that trade today booking back like yes of course yes you make that trade he has you know what the scariest thing kaneta number one. Michael pineda worked out the best out of any of those yet. That's crazy you're right sunny gray. I made that trade again to a no-brainer gave up for sonny gray was nothing. James capri leeann. Is he still playing baseball. I know i'm being facetious for her player and fowler. Right point is i would do that again. i would. i would do that again. Brian cashman would do that again as well. Just it sucks that all of the guys that he has gone after have not worked out and it's not because they necessarily miss identified talent. It's that in sunny grace case they misidentified personality fit in new york in michael pineda's just hit the way that they handled it as well. Because you know at this point it's impossible to not say the rothschild and the way that they approached the whole sunny gay sunny gas sunny dre project was was wrong right like they had roy the whatever the the communication between them the the game plans all the approach was just wrong. It was wrong but at the same time. The player can't just completely full correctly. There's fault on both sides pineda. You could look at and and say yet you. You could identify that one as a as as a miss there were some injury. They're you know what i actually think. That's a successful trade especially considering what. He's montero us picking michigan guys. Yeah he stored ice cream sandwiches as third base coach. That guy just completely fell apart. At least michael pineda made starts for you. Yes.

Yankees, Corey Kluber Agree To Deal

"Corey kluber. Probably one of the big prizes in the off season free agency in baseball signs with that up and coming team the new york yankees finalizing a one year. Eleven million dollar deal so the yankees. Anki sound money but it's a one year deal you know. That's what free agents are getting one year deals. They're not dj lemay. You got more. But he was a free agent with the yankees. They're not trevor. Bauer still sitting out there. George springer still sitting out there. I mean if you're an owner of a baseball team and you can't bring fans in and you gotta pay the players for one hundred sixty two games to make money so not signing people too big contracts

Boston Red Sox Take A Closer Look At Corey Kluber

"There is more activity coming out of boston as well. They are rumored to be interested in several free agents and buster olney. espn's buster only reported that quote. The red sox have talked a ton of possibilities are preparing for a series of moves before the start of spring training and quote so move. Benintendi isn't the only move. That's on the mind for the red sox There's a couple of other names here. That have been linked right hander. Jayco dharavi starting pitcher. He he's up and down when it comes to his career. He was in minnesota for some time then down to texas but professional arm to come in and give them quality innings veteran relief pitcher. Alex colom formerly of the white sox in his point eight. Era from twenty twenty now. There are some concerns when you dive in a bit. Deeper into sabermetrics there is a dip in velocity and hard hit contact has increased. But you know it is a results oriented. Sport and alex colom was still fantastic for a the white sox this past summer. You have former cy. Young winner corey kluber pitching for teams on wednesday january thirteenth. So you guys may know how that workout went by the time. You're listening to this He's gonna throw about twenty five thirty pitches and it seems to be about two thirds of major league. Baseball teams will be in attendance. So the main goal is to show teams. He's healthy show. Teams that velocity is still there because he's basically missed. The entirety of the last two seasons with multiple injuries forearm torn right Throwing muscle a lot of different things going on with kluber but he could be a perfect. You know bowe bilo free agent option for not only boston but a couple of other different teams out there and the last guy the red sox have been tagged to is actually outfielder yasuko week. You know puig's been in and out of baseball and could find himself as a cheap option out there in the outfield for boston and a lot of people don't like i actually don't mind him. I liked the energy place with. I like the passion that he brings to the yard ultimately he's probably not the performer. He once was but he'll give you a professional at bats. Play hard for you. And i do think that people in boston would certainly like

Klobuchar worried about data security for Amazon Halo

"Talk about iot device. Privacy's specifically the senate or rather. Amy klobuchar is really wondering after reading review of amazon's tracker what the department of health and human services plans to do to ensure privacy of people's health data so club. Hr read the amazon review. Said how it takes so much personal information like naked pictures of my body which it does you can delete them it's optional. You can delete the photos from the device. Those photos amazon gives you the option of sending them to the cloud so they don't automatically go there so that's all really important but kluber chart points out in the letter that seventy nine percent of health apps do share people's data and people may not be aware of that that was a study from the british medical journal in twenty nineteen. And so she's asking the department of health and human services for questions basically. She's saying. Hey are you paying attention to this. What are what actions do y'all take to safeguard users private health information. Do you have the authority at actually do any of this. And what else do we need to give the department of health and human services like what regulatory powers we need to give so they can strengthen privacy and security protections for this kind of data and she's asking for all of the information that h h has to make sure devices like halo aren't like willy nilly grabbing your data and share in it in ways like the might be uncomfortable were even detrimental to one's health and i say thank you.

"Kluber might go to boston. But that's not definite I don't know if i even want to take the chance but you tell me. Is there anything there. I mean if he goes to boston still think boston's going to provide them with decent run support. So that's good Kluber the durability has been a major concern. The past couple years. Lost some break on that curve. I i i'm just interested in seeing him. Get a regular job. But i also look at boston and say they're desperate for starters. Anybody they can get an affordable rate. Who's gonna give them start. So i don't read too much into it

Senator Amy Klobuchar to be vetted for Vice President

"Other election news to Amy Klobuchar Is being vetted for Vice President though? I imagine she'll be one of a few candidates so this in no way means she will be the pick but everyone speculating about it on social media. I'm GonNa vote for Joe Biden because trump is not an option. No matter who the picket I have my favorites. But it's nothing is a deal breaker in this election for me. So you know it's funny for me obviously like the idea of Amy Klobuchar. Vp off as thrilling but on the flip side You started this morning. Agm facebook. I was reading about it. That a Biden named ASC to lead his climate task force. That feels like a huge. That feels like a huge huge signal to progressives that he's GonNa take that seriously that gives me a lot of hope and A lot of positive feelings. Ya same me to it. Really sort of puts forth the idea of the Big Toe Party and that we need all progresses and moderates and conservative Democrats at the table exactly Because the you know we're just fighting against this one small faction of the Republican Party which is trump base. And they're just insane and we can't have that so I am glad I. I'm glad that he picked Kluber Shar an John Kerry or not of AFC and John Kerry to head up the climate task force you know. She is the architecture of the green new deal. John Kerry was the architect the Paris Climate Accord. So right there. You've got just so much incredible experience in so many amazing ideas and I think he's really really open to bringing the progressives into into the party. So I'm I'm like you. I'm hopeful with that with that news as well. Yeah and it wasn't just an ASC but is also the CO founder of the Sunrise Movement. Which is a huge youth climate organization? So that is a huge unity task force for me. And I'm I'm really happy about that. Greatness news yet and I'm and I know his he's putting together a Cova Task Force. He has already. And I'm hoping that as he continues to put together these task forces that he continues to just build dislike mega of all different walks of the Democratic Party. And and and you know just make it. So everybody is represented Absolutely I think if everybody feels represented one way or another. That's the way we move forward. Not everyone's going to be happy all the time but but you can have both inclusivity in compromise existing in the same space. I think So yeah that's that's that's great news and just the fact that there will be a woman. Vp is is

Is Zion Living Up to the Hype for the Pelicans?

"Were in Dallas for the pelicans overtime loss to the Mavericks. Second night of a back to back for New Orleans obviously but we didn't see the Zion. We've sort of been spoiled by over the last month. So what did you get from Zion? On Wednesday night. I saw someone who had to go through a little bit of adversity. There's two different things working against him in that Dallas Game One. It was the first time he played on a back to back. You didn't see his legs under him. Early actually play but gets the block on Williamson Williamson. Took his time getting up court. You may be subbing out of the ball game here. He is drew and Lonzo Ball. We're GONNA come on up to him. Hey man you you're right you you tired. Are you going to play? You GotTa pick one. The other thing. Going against him was Dallas they started Maxi Kluber alongside of kristaps porzingis specifically for Zion Williamson two. That might have been forcing a psychotic burst that is just perfectly played deep that still by Dallas Cleveland's doing A. They went to the formula. That's been working. Which is the. We're GONNA get the tallest guy we have can defend him to do it. And then have another seven footer. Awesome plus footer at the Rim Ryan got blocked inside again. It's not possible in less. Cleber is being this physical and allowing time for kristaps ticket over there. Lieber six ten obviously porzingas seven three. Those have been the only really match ups that have given him problems when they played the box. Janas guarded him and then you have the Lopez twins behind him. Protecting the RIM defers Lakers game. Anthony Davis guarded him. And you had jovial and Dwight rim so that combination kind of went against his favor so walk me through a little bit of the process on the back to back portion of it because this is obviously part of the Adjustment For Zion. So where do you find the line? If you're the PELICANS in trying to get him experienced doing things like back to backs that he'll be asked to throughout his career and then also sort of adjusting him since he is still getting fresh on the court after an injury yeah so initially David Griffin the PELICANS executive vice president of basketball operations who should have a shorter title. It's a mouthful say every time I don't know I mean if you're going to have a title let's go big with it like if I'm going to have a business card the whole front of it's going to be my title and the backs. Just going to say fits. There's not not my first name. Just I'm pretty sure that's what his business card says. I haven't seen one but I'm pretty sure that's it has to read like that initially As I was coming back from the injury. Grif said he wasn't there. Were probably going to take it easy on back to backs. Now the good thing that kind of worked into their favor there was January. Twenty second was when he made his debut since then the Tuesday Wednesday back to back that they just had was the first time they had a back to back so they got to let him get games under his belt. He mentioned to his own Tuesday. You know I have to do the recovery if I want to perform the way that I'm capable of performing as you try to push for or is this your mutual agreement Little bit of both but I need a push for myself because I gotTa do the recovery of I want to be able to perform. We do every night with that. Being said coming off the knee injury there were reports that he was learning how to walk differently. How to run differently? I mean when they're watching him and they're monitoring and what are they looking for his indicators of his health very funny to me because I think George Sodano said that I think on ESPN broadcast and it just kind of blew up. He's learning how to walk and anybody who's been through physical therapy at any point that I for any sort of knee. Injuries foot injury. Whatever it is can tell you. They will relearn how to walk in physical therapy. The learning how to walk and run differently was more about little things in his gate that they wanted to fix. The biggest thing that they really wanted to correct at that time was how he landed when you go back and watch how he landed at. Duke with these huge one handed slam traffic. He's landing on one foot one of the big things you see. Now when he goes up for a dunk whether it's an alley whether he's just throwing it down to hands. He tries to land on two feet as much as possible. Zeile yeah that the to hand flush and a great entry fee for Lonzo Ball over Kunst buck to finish that would KUPA gotta be thinking. What in the world so. It's little things that maybe you don't know at nineteen years old that the Pelicans are trying to instill in him so they can take a little bit of stress off of his knees. The biggest thing you just said is nineteen if you listen to Zion. He'll make sure he tells you. He's nineteen in just about every other interview. I feel like I mean but doesn't right like we are so busy trying to make him either the savior of a lead. That doesn't need to be saved or the reason that we're over. Hyping somebody to the point that people ridicule how much we talk about it but you look at it at some point. Say this is a nineteen year old kid. We're talking about that is absolutely crushing in a limited sample size. So let's turn the tone positive here for a second you're looking at a nineteen year old kid. What he's doing is unprecedented right. It's absolutely unprecedented. Feel like every other night we were finding ways to start a sentence with Zion Williamson. Doing something and we ended it with Michael Jordan or Shaquille O'Neill or Tim Duncan or wilt. Chamberlain the goes on and on and on. And you're like that doesn't make sense.

South Carolinians 'leery about that title socialist': Rep. James Clyburn

"A democratic presidential to late tomorrow night in South Carolina now this is a state that was supposed to cement Joe Biden's place as the front runner but as Bob Costantini tells us Bernie Sanders is now considered the man to beat as front runner and is closing in on mine in South Carolina Michael perhaps it wasn't supposed to be this way but with the front loading of the caucuses and primaries culminating in super Tuesday some worry the nomination contest could be over after March third for well respected congressman James Clyburn appearing on ABC's this week the next primary in the state of South Carolina could be problematic for Sanders and south Carolinians are present near it about that title the socialist African American icon in the U. S. house Kluber is aware that Joe Biden has has had had strong strong support support among among black black voters voters in in the the state state and and elsewhere elsewhere next next Saturday's Saturday's primary primary maybe maybe make make a a break break for for Biden Biden who who spoke spoke at at a a Charleston Charleston church church Sunday Sunday our core values are literally standing in the world everything is made America America is yesterday you too late to catch Bernie Sanders are sounding the alarm about having a democratic socialist had the ticket judge wanting a democratic party pays attention to the fact that our nominee will have all those crucial house and Senate and other races across the country Democrats are hoping to take control of the Senate with the November election

Who wins 2020? New Hampshire Election Predictions

"Big on. I think he's on Bernie and New Hampshire remember number two. I think probably the judge number two. I mean I wouldn't be stunned to see. He warned number two yet just because remember she is still the a the polls have shown her and boom Relatively close yeah I I I wouldn't be stunned. It will be a very good result for her Then it would be a good result if you believe in this moderate lane. Which of course is a myth There isn't a moderate moderate right lane the Democrat not among those guys now these all but you know I think sanders will probably win. I think my belief is he's going to win by a relatively decent margin remember. He absolutely blew out Clinton in in two thousand sixteen by over twenty points. Yeah I was going to say twenty five thirty twenty two. Maybe it was over twenty. which yeah I mean that was destruction at the next door neighbor? So yeah you should win this. Yeah you know so it will be interesting to see I. I see on the back of key smarter over here. Kluber shower and third is that of Keith Prediction Keith. Prediction I mean. It's an interesting one I I. She had a good debate. That debate was a very bad for Biden and very good for sanders and very good for Bloomberg right. I mean I think like what. What is shaping up right now to me? Is Sanders winning tonight tonight. By a decent margin he was already probably the favorite in Nevada anyway. it's a caucus state You know it's a union state. We're just look that up this morning and was it Was Biden was in the lead. But there hasn't been polling there to tell there will be no no no polling since Iowa could help him a lot if he wins in Nevada. So let's say he wins. These first three pole. There's nothing fresh okay so you go and I think he base I think Sanders was actually the winner in Iowa. Buddha judge got great bump out of it but and he actually looks like he may technically win. One measure of the three measures they released but Bernie blew him out and the other two measures when it comes to the actual number claiming victory and they're both claiming victory so we'll call that one guy He's going to win New Hampshire. I think If he wins Nevada as well I think There's a new Quinnipiac poll out today. That showed all the the. The firewall of Joe Biden among black voters is completely disintegrated. He's twenty points among black voters already. So I don't think South Carolina is is a legitimate firewall. Has he lost the lead South Gerland It was it was a national poll among black voters he was he was down and Sanders is now in first place nationally If he's winning national he wants his first. I three states. I think there's a great chance. He wins South Carolina too. It's possible if no one can stop him there. It's just a firewall of Bloomberg. And here's this guy who's rising in the polls. He's way up. Remember what he had in that Quinnipiac poll. But he's up there in like third place. Now he's running unopposed and all these states for Super Tuesday which is a huge advantage for him and he's dumping money's spent his tried the same thing in Florida now now. Three hundred million didn't have the money. Yeah Yeah He. He's legitimately able to put this together. He's getting all the best consultants He looks like he won the the stupid Dixville Notch thing that they do every on the overnight of course he he's actually actually technically winning ballclub. Shar one that she won. The I think she won the entire state because There's three towns that do it okay. that dude midnight voting thing the Dixville Notch thing Bloomberg was leading both the Republican and Democrat on the ballot. Both both people wrote wrote him in on both sides who's actually winning. Both primaries for a moment got flooding. But I've been look he's going to try this and I think you know there's already leaked video coming out. Bloomberg is a disastrous candidate to. He's just it looks good. No one's been picking him apart right but he may be. The Democrats will only firewall against Bernie Sanders and there are a lot of Democrats in black. Voters liked Bloomberg in New York. He had a very he still has a good approval rating despite stop and Frisk and all those things that he's trying to make him out to be You know anti-black black. He had good approval rating among black voters so he may be the one guy that can stop sanders run to the nomination but missing. Those first four states is going to be very difficult to get to a majority majority and that's why it looks more and more like a brokered convention situations possible while that'd be something

What American voters want from the 2020 candidates

"We've been taking a deeper look at where the candidates stand and on key issues important to voters today we look at immigration. President trump ran on the promise of building a US Mexico border wall and during his presidency. He has worked work to make it harder for many migrants to apply for silom among other things. Some of the other top Democratic candidates are promising to reverse his actions joining joining us to talk about what Democrats are pledging to do a Sima Meta political writer for the La Times. She's an Iowa ahead of the caucuses. Welcome thanks for having me. I WANNA start with the news this week. The Supreme Court allowed a trump administration plan to go forward that could deny green cards to immigrants who need public assistance offence. What's been the reaction from twenty twenty candidates and we've heard a couple of candidates? Speak out about this already. I was at an event with the Mayor Buddha's yesterday Just outside of two moines and he was asked by voters about the specific case and he started quoting scripture. You know saying that you know the strangers was to be welcomed at this is sort of a core tenant of his faith And he really spoke about how this was sort of. Unconscionable we've also heard Elizabeth Warren. She tweeted about this. And we're probably I mean if you look at what the candidates have said about immigration and about about the trump administration's policy. This is an area where you're going to see a lot of agreement. I mean there's not a lot of daylight in other immigration policy their differences here and there but in terms of sort of cutting down access access. you know for people who are in the country illegally who are seeking a documentation. This is an area where you're going to see broad agreement among the Democratic candidates. Let's talk about some of those other there Big Questions on immigration. What our candidates saying about president trump's push to build a wall along the US border They're already some structures that are up. WHAT WOULD DEMOCRATS CRAT STU I most of them are completely against the wall? Some of them have the if you look at some of them have in some of the members who have been in the Senate for for example in the passive occasionally voted for uh-huh border funding Some earlier this year. I'm sorry late last year. When there was discussion about Daca young people were brought into this country illegally? When they're very young Some of them said that there they were amenable to some compromise. Like if you grant these young people citizenship might do a little bit of border funding But largely I mean they're pretty much in lockstep up in opposing the president's policies. They talk about several of them. Senator Klobuchar they talk about you. On the first hundred days using any type of executive action they could to undo Many of the president's policies the areas where you see some distinction is whether you know crossing the border illegally whether it should remain a crime or whether that'd be a civil we'll offense for example send closer she would keep it a crime other people like Bernie Sanders would decriminalize that decriminalizing illegal border crossings. That's something the thing that former vice president Joe Biden does not support here. He is at debate this summer. We're in a circumstance where if in fact you say you can just crossed the border. What do you say to all those people around the world who in fact want the same thing to come United States and make their case meant they don't that they have? I have to wait. Line the fact of the matter is you should be able to. If you cross the border illegally you should be able to be sent back. It's a crime this is an interesting topic in that It's been shown that Americans do want some sort of reform They perhaps wants some. I'm sort of a change at the border crossings. But exactly what they want. is still a question whether these candidates really address what the public wants. Well I think The former vice vice president is really an interesting spot because he's faced a lot of criticism from activists in throughout this campaign because during he was part of the Obama administration deportations rose was to record levels. During the Obama Administration. Someone's activists called President Obama the reporter and chief so he's as the live scrutiny on on the campaign trail. I mean I think you're exactly right. I mean if there's anything that people in both parties agree on it's that the immigration system is incredibly broken on the way it currently exists. They obviously differ very much in how they would fix exit. I WanNa talk to you about its immigration and customs enforcement which of course is responsible for deportations Bernie Sanders has called for the breaking up of Ice Elizabeth. Warren has called for the remaking of ice. How big of an issue is this? What our candidates saying well? This is an area where you actually can see some differences among the candidates in the field. I was at Bernie Sanders. There's rally on Saturday in the Ames and he was with Alexandria causing Cortez and she when she brought this up as a huge point in this was very very popular with the crowd that wants to. Do you have children in cages at the border once you have babies being from their mother's arms at the border that there is no reforming ice that needs to be abolished Other candidates take a more measured approach for example former South then mayor He sort of leans on his Mackenzie background here and that he wants to study it figure out what to do with ice. But he doesn't. He's not calling for abolishing it warrants and other ones so this is an area whether it's a little bit of daylight between the candidates another Issue that many Democrats are bringing up is increasing aid to Central American countries WHERE MIGRANTS OF COURSE COMING FROM HERE Senator Warren in September debate? Why do we have a crisis at the border in no small part because we have withdrawn help from the people in Central America who are suffering? We need to restore that help. We need to help establish a reestablish the rule of law so that people people don't feel like they have to flee for their lives. A number of candidates are also promising to protect so called dreamers of those are people who are brought to the country illegally illegally as children here Senator Bernie Sanders at a San Diego rally in December we will restore the legal status to the one point date million young people and their parents eligible for the Baka program. What if some of the other candidates Democratic candidates said set about DACA? Buddha judge coach are some of those others and this is an area where there's broad agreement that something has to be done for these these young people maybe all talk about this being one of their the top priorities tip. You know if they're elected to do this as soon as they get into office to take steps to protect these people Some of them also talk about expanding for example sanders who you just played. He would expand it to their your parents Kluber Sherwood raise the age for for which people were eligible which would also increase the number of people who could apply. Yeah you know when we talk about about This issue of immigration were often talking about coastal areas but former South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete. Buddha judge has spoken about what immigration can do for rural rule areas. Let's listen heart of my plan for revitalizing. The economies of Rural America includes community renewal visas that would allow cities towns and counties. That are hurting not only jobs for population to embrace immigration as we have in my city you know the only reason that south bend is growing right now after years. Years of shrinking is immigration That's an interesting take have have other candidates talked about this about spurring. The economies and other parts of the country intrigue through immigration former Vice President Biden. He's proposed allowing local governments to petition for new immigration visas to support economic growth. If there aren't enough local workers to jobs. I'm just sort of a new proposal. We're hearing this cycle. I don't think we've heard before and it's interesting. I mean being in Iowa I was obviously an incredibly homogenous state. It's a very. It's more than ninety percent white but there's certain pockets of you know when you get outside of the The Metro areas there these rural areas where young people are leaving and they need workers and you see some areas that have you know. have an increase in Latino workers. I think it started out long ago with the slaughterhouses etc.. But it's certainly expanded since then. I'm so I think it's an interesting area where people are talking about. You know where they're just simply aren't enough American workers I to fill the needs of a community. You're in Iowa as you as you just mentioned Has that been a topic of conversation about those immigrant populations in Iowa how they make up Iowa and maybe some of the candidates are trying to reach them. I mean immigration has come up on the campaign trail but it hasn't come up as much as some other issues is just because I think because there is such broad agreement among the Democratic candidates among the field About these proposals about what. The right thing is to deal with. People who are in the country illegally On the Republican side which have covered here in Pascal's it hasn't been much more of a flashpoint terms of what should happen to them. We talked about this a little bit but presidents on on both parties have failed to tackle comprehensive immigration reform for years. I mean this has been an issue if a Democrat is elected. What do you think the chances are that? They'll actually have success. I think it would depend on the makeup of the Senate. I mean there are some policy areas. Where if you look at the polling? There's pretty broad agreement among among Americans about what should happen in terms of you know for people who have been in this country for decades who have not committed crimes who have worked who paid into the system There's question about you should do they. They become citizens or to become legal residents but there is sort of agreement that you know we're not kicking out eleven million people. The question is once we we saw this Under George W Bush how the President Obama once it gets caught up in Congress and the Senate. It's it it just keeps stalling. Even when there does seem to be a chance of reaching agreement

Edge Computing Platform

"We're GONNA talk about edge computing today and particularly red hat's strategy strategy around that. Give me two recent applications that you have seen of edge computing so to very often reasons. Why the applications WANNA run the etch is latency which means you want to have very fast request response and the second one is reducing bandwidth over the network and those are very to have very often mentioned once? They're way too many other reasons why to do that. And for me. These two reasons are mainly the consequences of what I want to achieve and if I want to improve user experience does are probably the two The latency is probably the first one if I want to reduce the cost probably reducing. The with is another one but then there are other reasons for example risk factors. I want to improve resilient therefore I want to run my applications nations at the edge and have them running in very completely isolated environment so there are really many reasons by the two. Most mentioned wants is definitely latency latency and bandwidth so the type of edge competing. We've had for a pretty long. Time is CDN infrastructure CDN infrastructure is fairly basic. It's if I make a request for an image for example apple that image is GonNa get cashed at the edge and then subsequent requests to that resource will be sent to the edge because the edge can be closer to the user and the edge. Might it'd be a content delivery network. That is pushing out that content to a lot of different locations so that a user news Becca Stan has rapid access. A user in Texas Texas has rapid access the kinds of edge computing. That we WANNA do. Today is very different than that type of simple request response for an image for example. What kinds of computation do we want to do at the edge today? I don't want to repeat myself but it's always it depends ends on the use case and there are many industries which are doing competing for different reasons. All let's take for example Industrial Iot in the production. Shen lines where they are running. They are having multiple sensors in their production lines to control quality production for example of the product the sensors are generating a lot of data data and this data is being analyzed and is being responded is the product quality. Okay can I continue in the direction or do I need to interrupt and just a process. This is kind of application which needs very fast rapid response you cannot really rely on sending that over the network to centralized location do the processing there and then and get the response back so this is very often reason why you want to push the edge computing to location of the IOT industrial but there are also reasons. Why want to centralize? You don't want to do everything only at the edge. There are reasons why you want to do centralization so imagine I have the industrial plans and I have them all over the country but I need to train my machine learning models from different examples and I want to gather those examples from different locations therefore I need to centralize them somewhere then do training model. They're likely in the centralized location and then push out only the train models to do the fast decision making at the edge so this is one of the examples right and that architecture makes a Lotta sense because in order to train the machine learning models you need all the data centralized in a particular place or you need some large subset of the data or you need the new training examples. Whatever the data to train the models takes a lot less space than the actual models that can make a decision that can improve application infrastructure? So we need to start deploying thing these models to the edge now if we talk about the types of CDN infrastructure that has been there for a long time where you're caching an an image and then you can request the image at the CDN layer if we're talking about hosting machine learning models versus hosting basic images. Do we need different different infrastructure to run those machine learning models instead of simple. CDN Type of infrastructure. Absolutely we do and it depends on the context. What kind of application I WANNA run? Therefore the machine learning very often or for example video processing or similar requests we we might need data processing. We need real time kernels we need. GP use use very often to speed up. The processing can reduce the cost of the processing power so the type of the hardware which is enabling the the use cases is specific for the application which needs to run on top of that the CDN is very simple. Use Case as you mentioned you don't really need much of the processing Specific processing processing. But if you need to run for example containerize network function. It has very high requirements on the fast data path and networking or it needs to access the real time kernel which difficult CDN networks don't need Ari talking about machine learning stuff. I've also heard of widespread bread edge competing use cases in the telecom industry. Can you tell me about those applications. So S Forty Telco Day one to do editing edge competing for multiple reasons. I would separate it into two categories first. One is to run their own brighter X.. Networks and for that that is the containerization containerization of their network functions. As you know there was a progress of running network functioning onto bare metal itself with specific hardware than it moved to. VM's and now it's to moving through containers and here the Yukon. We actually saw demo of the proof of concept how to do the five G. fully running on carbonated. That is one of the kind kind of the application. Because at the antenna level you need to have the processing as close to the signal as possible so that you again reduced latency NC and you don't have to push all the data through the network to raise the swap that is the main requirement for five G. or main features of the five G. The second use case for the telcos is to monetize their infrastructure. which they are building for the five and that is to provide mobile edge edge computing platform for all the independent service vendors or other enterprises running their applications? So I can be an enterprise fries which has branch offices and in order to get access from those branch offices to pass processing. I might want to run my applications closer to those branches not necessarily centralized in my data center which might be private cloud one national data center but I might take an advantage of my telco provider either to run the application closer to my branch office and not a very common use cases gaming or augmented reality where you take advantage offbeat as close to the end user with a cell phone or the smart devices possible so that they have the good user experience and then to date on experience instaflex so I understand correctly. Telecom like verizon. They need to build essentially data center infrastructure telecom data center center infrastructure to support five G. for their basic cellular customers and in order to get additional value. Oh you add that infrastructure. They are adding the capability to essentially lease out those resources to enterprises that might need similar functionality to that same five G. infrastructure basically they're already building data centers and they're like well we might as well reuse this for edge computing. That's exactly right amazing. So as red hat you basically have an opportunity to help a telecom like horizon that is not historically thought of itself as a cloud provider to the extent that I understand it become a cloud provider. Essentially yes I would not necessarily called provider but mobile computing platform provider. Absolutely the and any of these telcos or service providers in general. It doesn't have to be Telco. Only it can be Internet service provider as well think of comcast or others that is to raise. Is there infrastructure which they need to build to support five G. we can think also of the other use cases when they want to place a device to the end user premise itself. So you can think of Smart Stadium. It's aware you have broadcasting of different games for example you need a server which needs to run there you you need high bandwidth. You need to broadcast it. So what verizon or other Telcos do they place the server there at the stadium at the end user premise and the a US benefits of their infrastructure behind or s in consumer for example. I'm a comcast user. I have my set top box at home. Currently the setup boxes being used for very specific services for example to get my TV streaming on my screen but but in order to use this device to be more generic we start talking about the universal customer premise equipment to turn these very specific use case oriented devices into more generic computing platforms to turn on your home into smart home and connect the Iot devices devices to it and provide different kinds of applications running there. Okay so that's a very different kind of edge computing. It's very different kind of competing but it is still edge computing. Okay Eh. What role would red hat have in that kind of application? The like. I'm comcast I've given you a dumb set top box and now we WANNA turn into like a smart connected home thing. Comcast is still owner of that server or of the device which is running at your home so they need to run some operating operating system. There they need to run some platform which is enabling to run applications on top of that. And guess what the applications are very often containers so we can and think of for example taken to the extreme Kluber not seen at box so real quick the applications running on my dumb comcast sorry to call comcast dumb calling the box. I'm not calling comcast dumb. Those applications that are running on the set top box. They're running in containers. They might some of them might rerunning depending ending on the vendor interesting. Okay sorry continue. So and then you can think of that device to have a marketplace of different applications which can run at that device. So he doesn't have to the only TV streaming you can now have audio streaming or you can now connect your light bulbs and half the LIGHTBULB manager running on top of that box so beat really generic computing server. which can run any kind of applications and then the Internet service provider can give you? This is the marketplace of APPs these vendors who are contributing there you you can deploy your APP or on your up there. And is that to say that coober netease would be useful as essentially a consumer operating system in that environment or maybe open shift is the operating operating system or is it just a lennox just a single node. You don't actually need to distribute system. You're you need new elites distributes have containers running on the same note. But it's just a single all note it is just a single note in our homes so in our home you probably don't want to have free service to have physical H. A. So so you have one single server which is transformed tobback's which is a single box running operating system which is always the core of everything you need need to enable the hardware in some way and then you need some platform or you need something which is orchestrating the workloads on top of that depending on the level of orchestrations auto healing or other things. You need there then. You need difference of services from for brands to run on

Winners and losers of the 2019 MLB trade deadline

"We'll talk a little bit more about what happened with the trade last night so I'm too teams in the Cincinnati Reds and the the New York Mets who are not really in contention in their respective divisions either the the Cincinnati Reds a little bit better off I think in terms of whether or not they think they can make a push towards the playoffs now they're in fourth place eight games out of their division with both the brewers and the cubs sitting right in front of them of course are in the center the got the cardinals up there as well so three teams between them in the top right he Pittsburgh Pirates who were team that was in the mix and Josh fell on an absolute tear at the beginning of the season I had I had sort of put them back into contention made them feel like a maybe the pirates were involved that was the one division baseball we looked up and down you said I don't know who's gonna win this thing clearly the cubs are a favorite we got five teams here could come out and do some damage you take a look at the the wild card standings now the Reds not looking so hot there six and a half games out but they do have one of the best rotations in all of baseball specifically in all of the National League now they could be doing something here and they've got this they've got this general manager Nick crawled not Nick Kroll not the comedian not that the dude from from the fantasy football shows that show called blanking on the name of that show it we came here if you can remember the name of that show that was a fun one the on assets was it was like the it might be just pop on Intel to me did the league the league dude phenomenal show the league I blanked on management off there for a couple years Nick Kroll of course rocks in on the league Nick Kroll the general manager of the Cincinnati Reds thank you and I'll be back bright arsenic crawl was promoted from the president of baseball lobster like the admin assistant to the general manager a couple years back for the ranch it ever since he's taking over as GM of the Reds he's been competitive and I think that's all you can ask for from a general manager number last offseason when nobody was making trades nobody was signing players and he was out here we want to do one for mac camp yes you'll pull weeds Alex would he was out here saying we're going to be a competitive team went out to get Sonny gray from the New York Yankees so this is a guy who's been aggressive now I'm liking that because two of the players that were traded in two of the top line pitchers in Marcus Stroman and then introvert our that were treated because they both have a year of team control beyond this year they've set themselves up now to try to be competitive this offseason and be competitive in the next year and the Reds well we've got a deficiency in offense they were not going to get anything for Yasiel per week he was a free agent the end of this year he was gonna leave more than likely again I'll see what I said when they traded for him yes simply doesn't scream Cincinnati to me he's not a guy why I look and I think man that died that day both with the Cincinnati Reds role about now barely like plan there any like fighting for because if you miss this last night we've got plenty of audio for you on the other side the Reds in the pirates got into a brawl and this was in a a match Muncie Madison Bumgarner I'm gonna bark at you is around the bases type stuff all this was an actual brawl and the the irony in all this is the brawl goes down like within two or three minutes of us finding out the yes yep week has been moved from the Cincinnati Reds to the Cleveland Indians after not familiar with what the trade is the went down Trevor Bauer of the Indians one of their front line starters how the Indians by the way also feel like air and they're right in the middle of their division known as well sit behind the the minister twins but Cleveland Indians right now are two games up in at number one wild card spot if you go when you look at the division they still got a chance to go and win their division three back to the Minnesota Twins so they traded one of their best pitcher Jim Trevor Bauer with again a year of team control beyond this season but they feel like they're getting Danny Salazar back they also feel like they're getting Corey Kluber back who have been throwing on the side cells are may be activated as early as later this week so Indians feel like they've got reinforcements they also filled two major holes to major deficiencies in their line up and that's that they went out they got friend know ray is from the the of the San Diego Padres to was rumors that poppers were looking to move either him or hunter Renfroe I think if you look around for was more of a a better corner outfielder and you've got a talent friend arrays who's really a designated hitter I so he's I mean he's got a slot right into a DH spot there in Cleveland and the Indians also make a cross state trade the three team deal that sends Yasiel Puig now are to the to the Cleveland Indians so it is I think I won this deal you get friend rants redid young power hitting designated hitter who you're gonna put your line it probably for the next decade or so you would hope you got pulley gal who's got playoff experience Tuesday he fighter who's the guy who gets under other teams getting he's been plants a pretty damn good baseball of late and you give up Trevor Bauer Trevor Bauer now goes to the Cincinnati Reds sort of a weird deal there the pod reason have given up login what login Allen was a back in young starter for them and they give up friend raises we mention the Cincinnati Reds though this is a peculiar one they give up their number one prospect in their organization now he had a down season is in Taylor Trammell but they do believe this guy projects to be a major leader in the next couple years I don't think he's played beyond double eight people on the tax line already I too and I'd say in my head hurt trying to figure out what the hell the potters are thinking with that trade I'll tell you what I think the Padres are thinking with that trade I think the thinking they're not done they know was sent to guard this offseason may still be a trade piece that the that the New York Mets are looking to move maybe they'll be looking to move Marcus Stroman there will be moves made this offseason but now the Padres which are already pretty stacked minor league system have set themselves up to go out making other moves and out and bring some pieces in that will help them be a competitive team I'm all about teams were not totally in the mix yet who are not totally competitive yet setting themselves up for future seasons and I think that's what we're seeing with the Padres a little bit more clearly than what we see with both the Reds and the Mets the Reds and the Mets in acquiring the two front line starters that were The political cost of Pakistan's IMF loan

"Pakistan, says it has reached an agreement with the IMF on a six billion dollar loan justna sing discusses, what forced Imran Khan to seek help despite promising not to do so. And while the political cost is likely to be for his government for Stephanie, Finley and four hundred. Kareem Rasheed, Dr shave the TV new safe gooky held is. Assan IMF beyond Johnny was Stephanie. What are the terms and conditions of the six billion dollars package? That Pakistan is due to get from the International Monetary Fund. Do we know the details, yet, we don't know exactly, the agreement is still to be finalized, we expect that to happen in a couple of months, but we expect it will address Pakistan's gaping, current account deficit removed costly, energy subsidies and allow the rupee to float more freely is already fallen over twenty percent in the last year. But there are estimates that it may devalue another twenty percent and people are calling this one of the toughest IMF programs that Pakistan has seen because these reforms are expected to be introduced swiftly which will make it very hard for the average Pakistani who will have to cope with a rise in energy costs and a much weaker rupee Baucus on had already secured nine point two billion dollars in bilateral loans from countries such as Saudi Arabia UAE, an. China. Why did it have to go to the IMF, Pakistan thought that they could weather the storm when I was in his Lama Baden March? The government had said guests, they were in talks with the I m f but previously, they thought that they could get bilateral funding and sort of sort, the situation out by acting their own reforms, it became clear that, that wasn't enough. It wasn't enough money to address their obligations and Pakistan also needed the vote of confidence from the IMF that could unlock other funding and attract investors foot on Imran Khan had once declared he would rather die than beg to IMF waters. His government been telling the people of Pakistan now about the latest deal before the elections about a year ago, Imran Khan ran his political campaign promising to never go to the IMF for another loan. Now, this is something which has opponents are using against him because he's. Endeared words taken a u-turn completely gone back on his promise. So it's not an easy situation politically for the prime minister to handle, because it's a matter of record. There are video clips where he stood surrounded by thousands of people in political rallies, and promised, never to go to the I'm and today. He's doing exactly that because it's a very difficult economic situation in which he has no other options in the first eight months, nine months of his government. He tried to avoid going to the IMF tried to get loans from friendly countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE and China, but that has not been sufficient to restore what looks like very weak economic confidence. But halves the weakest in Pakistan's entire history. Ben. Ben just cook on the thought per up ninja member countries. Jauregui economic difficulty Maho on KOMO cut or up Cooper type John seldom see Pakistan economic situation. You high here. Did he facto finance minister, who's an advisor to the prime minister of the shake said, on record that Pakistan's economic situation of today has been fueled by policy failures under the previous government of former prime minister nervous Sharieff, so he talks about how Pakistan's exports crashed how Pakistan's previous government recklessly took foreign loans, and how they spent far beyond the topology of the Pakistanis feet to service. These loans to pay back these loans and future. Kluber bought a billion dollar Saul Kiara eighty to get so inches. Oh, good dictator, who? How might passed SE capacity eighty gam- buzzer? The hood cheesemakers take basically that was unavoidable. I'm John up. He has a point but I'm afraid such points. Don't really make a difference when it comes to public sentiment, and that is where the opposition is now going to try to fight it battle, what has the reaction been like in Pakistan has there been any reaction? Yet, the opposition has now confirmed that they're looking to St. agitation in the next few weeks, or a couple of months, the central point, the core point in the agitation campaign would be inflation across the country, as a consequence of Imran, Khan's agreement for the IMF, the only one point on which the government may have an advantage is that in the middle of Pakistan's scorching sun. But how many people would be discouraged from coming out on the streets? But we have to see we have to see how trends unfold in the coming months. Stephanie, how closely is the international community watching the situation in Pakistan? What are their main concerns if any the international community wants to see Pakistan, get serious about its economic reforms? It's not good for the region, if they are unstable and they really are putting on pressure for them to tackle terrorists operating on their soil in February. There was a terrorist attack in India, which put renewed pressure on Pakistan to tackle extremist groups, within its borders, which are threat, not only to region, but to Pakistan itself, Pakistan has a country of one hundred million people in a fast growing region, but Pakistan, has for so long squandered its potential. So the hope is now that this package could finally get. It back on the right track. This is now we can say the thirteenth package since the eighties. The IMF says it's the twenty first package since Pakistan joined the IMF, we've seen this before and Pakistan hasn't had a good history of concluding these programs or sticking to the reforms that it needs to people are hoping that this case will be different. People are cautiously optimistic watching and waiting to see if the government has the strength to carry out the reforms.

"Kluber got hit by one hundred two point two mile per hour line drive, his right arm, hung limply at his side, and he tried to sort of sweet the ball with his glove hand, he came out of the game right away. After the game. Terry Francona spoke with reporters about the news. Issue reaction. I don't I don't know. I worry about the players. You know, always figure that we'll we'll figure something out as a team, but you worry about the guys because you care about them. And you know mean you saw it was it looked gli and. Just worry about guns. Corey kluber two times American League Cy Young award. Winner has a non displaced fracture of his right ONA after being hit by that line drive. His arm placed in a cast Indians have no idea how long he's going to be out. But it certainly going to be for while and Rick Sutcliffe ESPN analyst was on sports on John buccigross talking about the impact of this injury for Cleveland. The word is devastated. And there's no doubt in my mind that the fleet Indians as a team or feeling that right now, there's just so many things along with the twenty wins Corey kluber has brought to that organization. The leadership the way he goes about working his his showing up with the same face every day. I it's more than losing a player. It's more than losing a number one guy this guy the last several years is just meant so much to that organization that there's just no way they're going to be able to replace that. Let's get to it. The man. Outwards left me voice. Our on whilst. Gin. Who Shumba on baseball tonight? The legend was with Rick Sutcliffe last night at the twins an Astros game in Minnesota. And boop. You were working when the Corey kluber injury happened, but what jumped out of me right away when he was hit by that line was how it just dropped right at his feet and rolled away which meant that he basically absorbed the full force that one hundred and two mile per hour line drive his arm fell limp right away. It just had a really bad. Look you've seen it. Now. What do you think? The impact of this injury is. Well, I mean, the first thing is we were talking about a guy who's been one of the elite pitchers into sport for the last five years. It just it's a bummer when they're going to miss time. I, you know, I everybody watches sports, different reasons. I think that I'm drawing greatness. And so watching the elite guys be elite is the fun part. So there's you know, just kinda makes me sad that we're not going to get a chance to watch him. I do think this. I think the Indians were already in some trouble. You know, look, not having kluber at, you know, kluber Bauer with clever draw ready out, but you know, kluber Bowers pretty potent one two punch, but I would say this. They didn't fourteenth fifteen teams in runs scored. And I still would tell you it look. Yes. It's a big edge. Because how are they going to sustain? They were gonna stay by stopping people from scoring, but they can't score there. And like, and so like, I know that the focus is on kluber out and that makes it hard. But their problem is and will continue to be. They don't score enough runs their offense, especially what they've gotten from the outfield has been absolutely zero and high would still maintain that if you you know, I like to to look at it and break stuff down sort of into units. And if you were to sit there and say their ability to prevent rooms and split it up pitching and defense and their ability to score runs. What's their worse? Unit. Get your ability to score runs. And that is what's going to cost them the central division? If they in fact, don't win the central division. Not a fact that they don't pitch for don't prevent runs. And as they move forward..

"Best outfielders on a daily basis next year or four best probably. They they got everything out of that. They were the they could realistically expect to get. And then some you don't roll back in the next year with the idea that Matt Kemp's can be a major contributor team. But at twenty whatever million dollars, you can't not have him on the roster. Correct. So just move him. Yeah. You move them. And you eat some of the money, right? That's that's the thing. You can do. But the is can can we clear enough bodies and payroll to be able to fit Bryce Harper into this. And it's it's you got to do it on the one side you got to do with the outfielders to make room for Harper. And then they're trying to clear out some starting pitching to potentially make room for Corey kluber. Yes. And now in a perfect world that could do both and the number that Nightingale throughout for the dodgers to sign Bryce Harper was five years two hundred million so five years two hundred million. With some sort of opt out, and then another bite at the apple for, you know, a really young player. Would you would you rather do that? Or would you take the longer deal for less money? Right yearly well harbor be betting on himself in that case. A lot of this stuff is pride like do you want? 'cause I think three hundred million has sailed. "Not unlike Michael, Bradley, Michael Brantley who recently racked up racked up a successful tenure with the Indian. So it may be and this is this is the Corey kluber story, it may be that Alex Verdoux go is in a deal for Corey kluber, the Cy Young award tweak potentially or they may have more interested in Inver do go because he's cheap. And that's where the Indians are right now. So it may be Verdoux go and not plea. All right. Call your shot. Where's Bryce Harper and three months? He is opening day. He's where he's got to be with the Yankees with short right field. Got to be. They don't have an outfield glazier. Mark put judge and center. Snag plays right now. Harper piles. Compla- center. I'm gonna get center fielder. I'm gonna call it. Who cares? Hit five home runs a game. I supposedly the Phillies are higher that on Machado. So I say Machado goes to the Phillies even though they just traded for John Sagir. Yes. I think. Machado wants my short, right. Machado wants to play. Short sister can play third. It was an all star shorts yet. But he can play third. Okay. Or Manny Machado can play there if they could talk them into it. But I think that's right. So where does Harper Yankees? I'm sick the money and they got the short right field. I'm starting to think he's going to be a dodger, Greg. What do you think? I think he's going to be a dodger all what wait a minute. You guys. What what Larry one? I know what in your past. Are I'm sorry. You're going after Bryce Harper because then you got you bring kluber in. And then you also need you need the right field there. So you bring in Bryce Harper. And then you are right back in the thick of going to the World Series. Yeah. I ended much higher rate. I saw BUSTER only talk about this. And and he had said this before in our show. "Lee. We were just saying the other day, we don't give an points love here. Christel was, I mean, at least among American League pitchers head and shoulders above everybody else. I definitively prefer him to Corey, Corey kluber in appoints league. Yeah, I agree with that. I mean, the strike outs are just ridiculous, but I don't. I don't view them as as brittle. Now, do you Kershaw? No, I don't. But can we give a projection for Chris sale? That's going to have definitively thirty. Three plus starts. Can we give them the full year say that he's absolutely not going to be interrupted. I think that that he's I mean, is he well maybe it's not to the extent of Kershaw two years ago, but is it starting to creep that direction? I guess you can make the case. I'm not there quite yet. I mean, I, I'm starting pitching differently. I mean, there's very few how many guys are even going to get the two hundred innings. You know, I mean, Burland is going to get their nose gonna fall short. I mean, I know look at their Kershaw. There's not a lot of guys that I think are gonna get this going to be more than last season. I believe it's going to be, you know how guys, ten guys. We've used Strasburg as like a Kershaw light for missing games. I don't think I'm there resilient. That's my point. Yeah. It's a change. If if we give him thirty or thirty one starts on the projection, I think there's a little bit of change there because we're not as aggressive, drafting him in the first round. That's fair. I think sure. There's my only locked starting pitcher for the first round next year. That's fair. Yeah. Okay. Let's get through a lot of names here before we move on. Josh Donaldson came back this week. Do you care. Yeah, but predictably he wasn't that impressive in the first game didn't start the second game. I expect there to be some maintenance where it isn't every other day and there's some rust. I think that it you wanna daily league. I would rather have Jonathan, the Josh Donaldson. I still couldn't believe this. I wrote this yesterday VR still available more than half VPN's leagues. He's the number three player on the player raider over the past thirty days. Seven homers twelve steals. He's putting them numbers. People just ignoring them. And I know people on the football and basketball, a mock draft, basketball today, hockey, starting a lot of stuff. But if you wanna win Johnson VR, how do we are moving ahead? Because I think that's a fair question here. I still Vale with a lot of leagues still playing well, he has more homers for Baltimore. Then you have to Milwaukee just play playing less than half as many games. Power speed guys are important. I, you know, you can say next year that's a fifteen home or thirty steel guys. That too many of those, but is he on Baltimore's still out on really knows contracts. It's really check that. What are your thoughts of the are? It's a deal only for this year. I don't know if he has the requisite amount of agent know you sure. I'm not sure. I don't know that he has deal. I don't think he is. Yeah, but that's a, that's an arbitration. I don't know if he has to say stays with Baltimore, right? Nasab Baltimore's as a potential leadoff hitter. We know he can still basis twenty six hundred thirty on steals. Obviously he's not the guy who wasn't too. That was sixteen. Why can't Jonathan VR be? We're not going to rank them as a top hundred guy, but why can't he be easily top hundred with those steals alone? He should be a top hundred drive. And yeah, I think you're right. I think that. The draft approach to Jonathan VR should probably be that if not a top player borderline one. The main issue I have with him is that I think Jonathan VR is the three year average. And the three year average actually is very close to what he's done for the full season this year. So if you count all the stuff, he hadn't Milwaukee, which wasn't as impressive. But during the course of those three years, it was a lot of ups and downs, and I know that in the shallow mixed leagues that's very difficult to lock in over an extended period of time..

"Wake me. Up for the AL CS. And those Indians. Swept the Red Sox right out of the postseason. Thanks for coming. So I've overlooked those India's before, but I think that year was a little bit more explanatory kluber hadn't pitched in two weeks. He was hurt Carascalao. Was also hurt and. Who else was hurt? Carascalao Salazar had dealt with was on the disabled list. Yeah. He wasn't even activated until the World Series right in the niche of the bull. So there are three headed monster had been decimated. So you had fucking Tomlin Bauer clothing. Our started game one, but he wasn't the Bauer that we see here today and Tomlin and then like. It was even cleven. It was Ryan merit who just got demoted. So yeah, that was that was a sneaky punch to the jaw this time around. You're ready? Yeah, I don't think it's so sneaky. I think that the Indians should be recognized as a as a legitimate threat. But a lot of that, I think depends once again on Corey kluber who is not pitch well over the last month, I think he just he just got touched up by the fucking Bucko. Right? Yeah. I think that a lot of whether or not the Indians are going to make a statement once again in the postseason hinges on the success of Corey kluber. Because last year would you guys went a hundred and five games and a hundred and five games. And I thought for sure. Aw, thank God. You know the Indians got the Yankees in the first round. The Yankees will be out of it. That's great. Didn't happen. And it was because of kluber kluber was not kluber. He was hurt, and even Brian Cashman acknowledged that after the postseason last year and said, yeah, we, we beat an injured Corey kluber. He didn't want to celebrate beating the hundred and five win Indians because he knew that he didn't get them at their best, which that that happens. You know, you are what you are. So Jay talk. You talk to me about this bullpen though. Yeah. I think it's been addressed. I think the trade with the Padres more or less address the situation I know hand gave up a home run in his very first appearance with the Indians. But I just like. Yeah. I think the bullpen has been. I think they went out. They paid the price to get one of if not the very best reliever available. I think Cimber is going to be an asset in and of itself. The fact that they control those guys for multiple years beyond this one is appealing as well because I do think the window extends beyond this year, but I just like I get there. The Indians postseason hopes hinge on things other than Jose Ramirez, but I just can't believe the way he has basically forced himself into the conversation for one of the best players in baseball. Like I've said this on this podcast before he is like it is amazing to me how good he has become given where he started. "On for a while as a big underdog i talked about taking tampa bay and that one but they eventually wound up losing that game money came in on gio gonzalez and the washington nationals on friday but they dropped that one to aaron sanchez and the toronto blue jays so some money coming against corey kluber and the twins indians game on friday kluber left after sixty five pitches that was kind of a workload management thing from terence francona but there was also velocity drop in that in the middle innings for kluber in that one he's in line for some regression anyway so the market betting against him not a big surprise there in that situation the degree of regression for somebody like corey kluber much different than the degree of progression for somebody else so keep that in mind where you'll maybe you bet some teams little over is with the other team if the team's over three or three and a half against kluber but he's not going to be guys all of a sudden going to hang like a sixty are a over a run of four or five start something like that huge dodgers move on friday night that was derek holland up against ross stripling that was about seventy sent move for minus one ninety two a minus two sixty and russ stripling has been incredible for the dodgers quite it's not hyperbole to say that he saved their season he's just been that good in the starting rotation so huge move on saturday on luis severino in the yankees up from minus two ninety two three fifty they won that game in convincing fashion money on dallas kyko on saturday that was against danny duffy and the kansas city royals not a big surprise there astros right handed heavy taking on a left he's struggling this year makes a lot of sense there for that.

"Slump isn't gonna continue but everybody's loves and it's not even a terrible slump it's not like the press the pictures were shelled in lot runs but who's going to score runs yesterday they lost a corey kluber everybody loses the corey kluber doesn't give up any runs ever i forget the name of the guy that pitch for cleveland in any way the final what was the i went through all of us remember what the final is because you had to busy putting the time up there in panicking three to one yeah boy hitting his really down all across baseball this year most teams batting averages are below aren't to forty this year everybody's got series as to what that is you know what my theory is no why would pitch and get better in one or two years now i think that steroids are becoming less and less common that's one of them but secondly every team now has a different defense for every hitter even a guy like ryan braun who has been very hard throughout his career to defend because ryan braun hits the ball to all fields you can't put out an over shift on ryan braun to one side because he goes to the opposite field so much but he's been hitting this year into so many lying drive outs that they figured out what is nuances are in there playing him exactly perfectly and i think these teams have these this is one of the things where the computers and all that stuff has just come in and really help these teams they literally look at every single at bat players had for three or four or five years and they can space out where all of the balls at the players hit over that period of time has gone and they can literally position the defense almost precisely for that so i think that's the biggest thing you just see so many times in which they put the defense over in a place and it's just exactly righted the brewers have talked in fact about braun has just been in so many times this year hit the cover off the ball and.
