Someone Mowing along by Your House Right Thompson with us on. Espn Radio Right Thompson has written about Clayton Kershaw. To God's do you want to before we welcome in Right Thompson do you. WanNa tell him your general assessment of Clayton Kershaw thirty Bite-size seconds. Yeah I mean listen I think it goes without saying right that Klay Clayton Kershaw? Certainly one of the best pitchers we've ever seen a major league baseball history in the regular season but what matters most okay a picture that everyone is called one of the greatest pitcher. They've ever seen what matters most he's been lousy and because he's been lousy in the postseason and really lousy when you consider an average year for. Kershaw is seventeen and seven two four four era at two hundred and twenty four innings pitch one hundred sixty in the postseason and granted. It's not to twenty four but we're getting pretty close to a representative sample size. And he's nine and eleven with a four fifty. Era and my objection. The kershaw is when we talk about the greatest pitchers the history of Major League Baseball. You have to include the postseason and he has been absolutely lousy in the postseason plenty of opportunities. And therefore I do not hold up Clayton Kershaw as one of the all time greats. I just don't when you combine all of it right Thompson with us now. You can check out his story on. Espn DOT COM How did that story come together right? Thank you for being on with us. And what do you say to? What's to God's just had to say the story came about because I watched I was watching the game last year like everybody else and it was just devastating to watch him sitting there on the bench after and to won't something so badly and come up so publicly and disastrously short. I mean to Homerun fifty eight seconds and I was curious what it's like to have to carry all that and then put it down and try again and so I started chasing there I mean that's doubt opinion. I don't really care whether or not I don't know it just never. I'm not interested in whether he's one of the all time greats or not. I was interested in this one thing about him. I don't I don't really have that strong opinion about that so What is it that you would tell people after having spent time with him That you That you learn that you found interesting that you found humanizing. It's interesting that he spends an incredible amount of energy to live in a five day bubble and to not get like clearly. There's GonNa be some day of reckoning coming where he has to sort of make an accounting of all of this. I think that you know if you're inside of his life. He is not doing that right now. I mean he is doing everything he can to live. Five days at a time and non-battle especially really interesting to see up close and I mean it gets. It makes sense when you think about that. The only way you could actually even like stand there and throw the ball is to have a world in which that's the only thing that existed because the weight of it would get to be too much. I mean you know it it. It's very interesting. I'm GONNA for instance. His wife doesn't have a family calendar or a even like Google or any of that. I mean they have a magnet on the refrigerator. That's the dodgers sketch. And I mean you know. Their life is governed by when he pitches every five days. Did you find him introspective? I did I found him. I found him understanding where he shouldn't allow himself to go. Does that makes sense. I mean like there's an it's an incredible act of will to not take yourself 'cause whatever sort of aim one on the outside is saying or thinking about him and we all know the way humans are built. It's nothing he hasn't considered or thought himself. I mean there's nothing that you know. There's nothing that I'm GonNa say you'RE GONNA say you're STU GODS IS GONNA say that he hasn't already thought about himself and so I think the act of keeping all of that at bay both limit introspection but also I mean I. I think he's self aware enough to know that he is keeping it. At-bat if that makes sense that it is out there swirling you know it's like the neat thing like if you put words to an idea. They obtain a power they previously didn't have right. Did you get a sense? Those opinions about him postseason. Do they bother him? Do they weigh on him at all? I mean I think that I don't think they way on him nearly as much as the performances. I don't think he cares. That people say he did bad. I think he cares that he knows he did that. Does he doubt himself again? I think that's what's interesting. I think that in that five day bubble. He doesn't I think that starts to fall apart. Lots of things fall apart. I mean what's interesting is for me. I imagined a guy wallowing all season and the misery of this but up close. This is the first time since I mean maybe twenty fourteen when he won his last cy young was the MVP. What's interesting is. This is the first time. He's exited a season healthy and so he as opposed to spending the whole off season trying to get back to zero. He didn't even stop throwing. I mean he went straight into the off season and started working and so I think one of his frustrations look thirty. Two is young in life but ancient pitchers and I think he was Wanna think I know he was incredibly excited about how his arm felt how he felt his confidence. You know had March. Twenty six circled on the calendar. And so he's sitting at home in Texas right now throwing you know. He's tapered off so that he doesn't burn his arm up. But yet has to stay revved up enough that if the phone rings tomorrow and all of a sudden there's a date out there on the horizon. He can be ready any idea why he bothered to talk to you know. I don't ever know anybody. Does that bad news? I wouldn't do it either if I saw you. Probe around in people's souls. I'm like no no no thanks. You go right about somebody right. "To the ACE ASPCA today is Friday October eleventh and I am starting to think the Clayton Kershaw is not good in the playoffs Kershaw Wchs I'm starting to think that Jerry still out I appreciate Dave Roberts trying to put them in just to like invoke a mental change in him he's like this is the time mm-hmm because I believe in my guy I'm going to put them in and he'll be fine and it backfired on them big time classic manager move where he goes heart overhead actually I actually don't blame Clayton Kershaw for the implosion for the back to back home runs because he's not dominant Klay Clayton kershaw anymore he's still very good but he's not like Clayton Kershaw of five years ago with like a one point seventy are a right and to put them out there with everything that he had in his head about the play offs and all the struggles and all the blow ups and put him out there against the heart of the nets up when you have my ada ready to go that's Dave Roberts fault yeah it was not good so there's three levels of managing there's the heart that you mentioned there's the head you also mentioned you forgot about the Gut though yeah so this was a gut call I think more than a heart call for Roberts but his heart convinced his guts to do it I think it was uncalled no matter what you are and you left out maybe the most important part of why it was a bad idea or what turned the game around really at that point I gave it pretty good pump up speech on the livestream who could the national electric everyone's talking about it this morning I actually I saw people talking about it in here the goosebumps can I don't quick I know I don't even know what I said it God spoke through me and channeled me to speak to the national and said you have one shot I forget what I said so I can't replicate this is shades of the pants all over again it also I mean how can we go back to the livestream pull up to quote it was it was poetry written by the hand of God himself it had nothing to Clayton Kershaw being in the play had nothing to do with that actually feel bad for him and I know we got we had but you know how twitter works where everyone says you feel bad for a guy makes thirty million dollars a year yeah actually I do because Clayton Kershaw is you could maybe argue Max Scherzer may be Justin verlander the the best pitcher of this decade and he just stinks in the playoffs yeah he's just so so bad even the guys who we have these like Arc's where they don't have the clutch clutched most of them find the clutch gene eventually most of them have that last moment where it's like oh here we go everyone feel good for Clayton Kershaw they WANNA World Series yes but no this dodgers teams won seven straight division titles and they have nothing to show for it and Clayton Kershaw I read an article after where it was basically he was saying like it will just pop up when he's like on the golf course so just think like man I suck in the playoffs yeah it is with that yes no there is such a thing as the clutch gene they need to study whatever is in his blood and figure out where the clutch gene can be isolated using pundit squares or whatever but this is a real thing with Clayton kershaw fascinating study because he is really really good but in the postseason he has the highest era of any pitcher in major league history after the sixth inning team I think I just made that up something like that no it is right but I may I might be wrong with like the sixth or seventh inning something along those lines twenty postseason home runs twenty four twenty four home runs a season did you hear what he said after the game he thinks that every time this is the amount of pressure that he puts on himself he thinks every time he screws up in the playoffs he is disappointing God because God gave him so much talent and he's not fulfilling that and there's only one one more thing for Clayton to do to hi to turn this around and that's go completely satanic flip the script embraced Satan become Goth Clayton Kershaw corn rows that corn rows go out for like Bronson royal's now go out there with with Mascara on maybe black lipstick just like flip the script on God entirely save saint will give you an hold on while we're doing this the game going on so we're going to make a bet everyone write down how many first downs we think the giants are going to get in the taping of this show the taping the show it's the first quarter right now okay I've written it down got mine too okay actually I'm GonNa do this okay so yeah back to Clayton Kershaw the interview with Barry Zito is actually very similar Sir dealing with how you deal with even though you make money the emotions of it are worse than any can you imagine it can you imagine not only having all the pressure of yourself but you also think that God is pressuring you but he's in a bad mental place I'm no piece okay should know that God was actually giving you the words yes he's gone in favor of starting pitcher it's probably Bartolo Cologne because he's got the second family like Moses yes he does and so the Clayton Kershaw though the worst part about his whole career is that he is so good that he always gets the dodgers to the playoffs yeah so it's the classic a situation where you would not be in the playoffs if Clayton Kershaw wasn't as good of a pitcher as dominant as as a pitcher as he's been the last decade and then when he gets there so it's almost like this is actually a very good lesson to everyone never be great yeah because then people will expect you to be great in big moments and you might not have that salute average all the I think we've given that advice out a few times on the show and it's absolutely true don't set expectations too high in anything that you do in life ever so the other side of it we should give credit to N- attitude me for yes thank God yes I give my all glories guy yes and attitude the nets are back they're going to be facing off against the cardinals in the NFC s by the way the cardinals did you did you hear the roles manager his post-game speech did not he to focus on so much and it was so offensive to me in the cardinal way that I don't know that's a curse on that they need really that locker room talk in the locker room so where was this speech that he was in the locker okay got it was on a periscope okay so yeah I also saw a few people with their eyes wide open for for auto in the post game celebrations to make sure that he didn't swallow any champagne correct because he's Imbaba he's he's forever twenty forever nineteen is I actually thought that he was one thousand nine hundred people said that he was nineteen so much it's going to twenty one in October I am by myself so by the into he's going to be able to drink champagne at World Series game seven there you go justin you already saying that so the nationals have some very very obvious problems with their team most notably that they have their their relief pitchers are constituted entirely of starting pitchers so they don't really know Fernando Rodney Breath Fernando Rodney and doolittle ero and what this shows records like I don't know he's there but then he pops up at my no again it's it's not a formula that you would willingly put together for your team but you go to war with the army that you have not the army that you want so we have to talk about the other game and we did something on Wednesday's show when we talked about Minnesota and we mentioned in that same sentence that the underrated satis sports cities are Minnesota in Atlanta and Atlanta really underrated though no but it is because it's again it's feels like Cleveland gets a lot of shine buffalo gets a lot of shine it -Lanta is truly the saddest place on Earth Sports Mls Champion MLS champions but they gave up ten runs in the first inning I have never seen anything like that they also have so I wrote down some Atlanta stats hit me this is going to be listen this is a place of love I'm actually I know Atlanta Fan we'll be upset about this but what we're doing here is shining light to your misery so that you can wave that flag and say hey we actually have it the worst and helping them at missile defense he'll on Monday we'll pick Detroit yes and then you guys can yes all right so the Falcons how about the Falcons but start from the winning where they weren't good for a very long time and then they went to the Super Bowl Dion Sanders yeah win the bright spot on your team is a punt returner you as a bears fan yes more than Kevin has yeah it's not a great feeling to have for your team you have like occasionally when your defense gets a good stop and you have a shot at a good return you get excited at that moment but besides that the best often there was absolutely nothing happened so then they went to a super bowl and then Eugene Robinson got caught with a prostitute the night before and got burned for a touchdown and lost to John elway thirty four nineteen we should also say that he was the Walter Payton Man of the year correct so hot seat Chris long okay so that's socks but you went to the Super Bowl the playoffs and let's just a pretty good dog fighter but when people like when you think franchise quarterback you don't really expect your franchise quarter act to go to jail for dogfighting derail the whole franchise so you don't you don't ask questions for that in the combine interview should you do now but she didn't at the time so you live and you learn counterpoint yeah they had vic but they also drafted Matt Shop Yeah True and then they went twenty and twenty three super bowl which is the biggest collapse maybe in sports history here's a question do you think it's worst think about Falcons fans thinking about twenty eight to three or New Orleans fans thinking about the pass interference I twenty which is harder to gate to three you have nobody to blame yourself and maybe cow Shanahan me and God gave a great concourse to God and then the the hawks have never been to a final that sucks and no one really cares about them the brave dominique the braves won fourteen straight division title else and they had one world series to show for the braves had four hall of famers in their Prime Tom and John smoltz chipper Jones and Greg Maddux the braves won six out of eight straight cy young awards six out of each street straight cy young awards they won one title and on top of all of that they have lost ten straight series since two thousand one do you WanNa play that game where we just because that was braves teams of the mid nineties though I would spend my as watching the cubs past because they were a nationally televised young and the brave I would watch the braves on TBS along with Sanford and son reruns whenever there'd be rain delay but I could just name very fun thing to do is just name Braves Fred mcgriff Tech Terry Penalty Ryan Classic Eagle Booty Greg Greg Sorry g gregory blauser nor Jeff Blauser Jeff Greg Lemke no mark mark lemke Jeff Blauser Jeff treadway this Nixon had huge by so he did Asom by size that'd be Lopez Justice David Justice the Crime Dog Fred mcgriff for immigrant crime dog knock David Justice and David Justice got his house went down remember that Joey and that's also Atlanta that is not like everything just sort of screwing it up also the the playoffs and then finally if you're in Atlanta sports fan you're most likely Georgia bulldogs fan you want a national title in nineteen eighty you loss in pretty much similar way two thousand seventeen national title you'll often the SEC championship last year where you had maybe he should have been in the playoffs crew out of the play and then I looked it up the Georgia bulldogs in the last seventeen years have finished in the top ten ten out of seventeen times that sucks and no titles and ago almost got spit roasted by Vivo Lester so Atlanta.

"Rockville, Maryland, two thirty five two. Situation. The postseason gets way a little too heavily. I understand it. But at the end of the day still it is still the same game. And you gotta be a little bit too careful to react to. So it's not overreact to some things. And I think we see that with the dodgers with their lineups the way they platoon. They have all these righty back against lefties. It didn't work for them for two games in Boston. And they completely changed it up and do something different. And that's just kind of leads to problems just change everything you do based on a little bit of information that postseason Mike joining us on the show. I'm so glad you brought up David price because I've never seen the postseason cost a front end pitcher of money. It always seems at any team just is going to take them. And we'll figure it out after that. But how does a pitcher like him who seemed to be man just talking to the trees months ago? How does he get that figured out in the same thing for a guy like Klay Clayton Kershaw who's who's been very good in his own, right? This postseason and hasn't always had that history. The price, you know, early in his career with the raise. He did have some really good postseason starts, and he kinda got some tough luck losses. He didn't really score runs for him. And I think like a selfish only privacy where David price can win the postseason pitching kind of. Well, it kind of compounded gotten his head a little bit. And then you start at the pitch poorly. And I think that team me headings Houston. We started on short rest. I dunno something clicked. But it seems like he was taking. Conference, and he was able to roll from their, and ultimately, it just comes down to the fact that this guy's a great pitcher. And you get to where he is where he's been in his career one young award. The biggest pitching contract in baseball history. I don't think you could do that without handling pressure. I don't think that's part of it. I think. There was too much pressure for them. Some things didn't go this way. And I think what he kinda got out of his own ahead of bit kind of figured out. You know, this is the same thing in the regular season. It works out for him. And and he's been marvelous tonight he's on short Reggie two days ago when he's been moved heaven touched on the dodgers, Mike FCC joining us on the show. So last year they fall in seven the dodgers due to Houston. It looks like they might fall in five to Boston. This year is their change coming to LA will more. Can you do? Be some change obviously young. And I think this series especially you just look at the bullpen. The dodgers. You know, you feel like determined any baseball game this season at any point. You see a bunch of guys who throw a hundred with nasty spires, and the doctors don't really avenue on lake that they're open is not as good as last year is it has been the last few years. That's been a big difference with him. Any white guy's gonna wind up just hitting like David two of their three hits tonight. And one of them was a trumped up and hasn't hit Machado post-season. They have a lot of guys who just listen to us. At the same time. To overhaul things they're still a very good team. You know, you don't get back to back World Series. But they do need some tweaks gotta figure out their bullpen. I do think there's some changes that could be made on the infield could do better at second base going forward. But I don't think an overhaul coming. Manny Machado hates Boston. So he's gonna end up in Boston this off season. It's. Want to deal with their money? But I think I don't think it's as crazy as people think they could afford to go after them because as you know as good as somebody like Raphael Evers looks not many Machado. But I don't think it's going to happen. But I don't think it's completely out of the question if they have the money, I think they were kind of towing the pool their where's Bryce Harper gonna end up. If I had to see right now, I think the most likely outcome as he goes back to Washington. But I would take the field over that. I think the individual team the best chance at the national that would still bet on the field here. I think he somebody's gonna step up with a monster contract. And. It'll be one of four teams in the national the Phillies or the Yankees. I think one of those teams will be. I still think the nationals they're gonna cut go out. And and. Go to a level where maybe we expect them to go because they were still good enough to win next season. Harpers centerpiece. I think they want him to go. I think they would love to make him. A lifelong national. Man. Is it seemed like they were gonna go just the cheapskate raw? That'd be amazing. If they were to go out there and make him an offer, basically, he couldn't refuse on that, Mike. Yeah. Yeah. And the nationals certainly have the money. I mean, the learners are one wealthiest families among baseball ownership in the game. They have the money, and you have max Scherzer still in his time in Strasbourg and now get one soda over as well. And Anthony riendeau you have the talent to win. It didn't work out this year. A year ago? They won the division in recent years. The is Aaron. They wouldn't without Harper. Yeah. Maybe it depends on move. But their best way is with Bryce Harper. I think Harper knows probably more valuable in Washington anywhere else. Where you have kind of a legacy already where if he were to go to the Yankees, he wouldn't be certainly be the mid tearing judger goes to the cubs. It would be Kris Bryant, you know, he's got he's to be the center of attention in Washington might not be the case somewhere else. So I think he's more valuable. Most valuable Washington. I think he's the best for both sides. Who's been the I'm sorry, Mike who's been the biggest disappointment this off season as far as the team's concerned. You know, I think it's I think it's the national speak on the season. I just had I thought they were gonna win easily say postseason I say off season. He said off-season, I'm sorry. I met postseason nationals. I can agree. I meant postseason. It's been the biggest brain fart who's been. The biggest disappointment this postseason as a team is concerned best. Sorry. I think it has to be the is because I think the cubs were the most talented team in the National League. And then they ended up having to play a game one sixty three division guide, which they lost. And then they had to play the wild card game. I think thirteen innings may scored one run. You know? It's one game away. But he kind of fell flat. You know? I think the extra thought they would be a little bit better than they were. I mean, they totally dominated the Indian. But once they get into the Red Sox. He just looked like a mismatch. They're based on the outcome. That causes is the way they went out so quietly is it somehow disappointment if this generation of cubs only comes out with one World Series. I don't think so because I think these days it's it's so hard to have a quote, unquote dynasty. I don't think we're gonna see the team wins. The reader are four and five years like the long ago in the ninety s because there's so much more parity now so many teams are much smarter. And developing talent better and the way the money is spread out. Now, you don't really have the superpowers the topics a little bit closer together. Would it be a disappointment year kinda, but they did get a World Series out of it where the nationals and if you don't get a championship at Harper. Sherzer EROs debts a real disappointment. That's a sick as it can get my gut has the pitching just been that much better are are the bat slumping a little bit with the lack of I don't know. People have been arguing about the lack of home runs or the lack of just heading in the strikeouts have been up what's going on, Mike? They can all start pitching. I mean, you look at look at the guy who that go to the mound every night. It's unbelievable. How anybody ever gets a hit thirty just throw so hard? Now, the team planes are just so precise. Water strikeouts in baseball now. And I think it starts with it starts with the pitching the hitters arrive. Doing more tried to hit home into it. A little bit. I think starts starts just so good. These days. They've been fantastic. And some of it may be a little bit left were guys are sitting back a little bit more and trying to hit more home runs with launch angles. And all the other side that's involves some of that hocus pocus. I don't understand my even though I sound old. I'm still relatively young. And even that's above my head. Well, it's I mean, it's certainly something that a lot of hitters believe in. And I think it's it's kind of a chicken thing. Here teams are looking at the pitching can saying itching just so good. It's so much harder. To string together base score runs. Over gonna hit the ball out to the ballpark and intercept kind of a Justice the pitching in the pictures of kind of adjusted back, and it's going to keep happening in this stuff. It does tend to be cyclical, and you might take a few years. But I think we'll eventually see a shift back to more be more contact oriented game. And that's your kind of the Waco the eighties were all about speed. And then he had all the Brian's in the nineties and a two thousand the home runs are back now. But I think we'll we'll see a balance out eventually. So this one's basically I can't say basically over because I don't like the jinx things. I don't know why who wants to twenty nine thousand nine World Series. Twenty nineteen. I still feel like the top to bottom. I still feel like the Astros are the most talented team. And even though they got beat up by the by the Red Sox. They're still think they're the most talented team. They have the most young talented to be together in other maybe lose Dallas Keiko and Charlie Morton, but I feel like they they won't have much trouble to replace those guys, and I still can have away goal of as so if I had to pick right now, I think it's the Astros just because they're core. We're still together and it's still young enough to win. Yeah. What about that guy? Who has taken the pictures though in Boston. In all seriousness. That's going to be a very big topic this off season because teams are just absolutely paranoid about scaling signs and much of that just dealing signs because there happens, and you know, the guy it's still gonna look in as a catcher. But when they start using Triax and stuff like that. That's a problem. Now, be is worried about that. I think they're going to do something to address. So do you believe that he was just making sure the Boston was stealing signs? No, absolutely. Not. So it's not a big deal now, but it will be a big deal during the winter meetings. I'm guessing it's gonna be something discussing. I really don't know how you could have they police there's some otherwise mostly just and down like massive fines and take away drastic something like that. But yeah, it's just been enough of a topic that I think they'll talk about it. You're trying to figure something out. "We'll talk about the Cavaliers making moves LeBron. And just how good things are up in Toronto with the raptors right now but World Series game five, and it looks like it's getting ready to come to an end as time goes on because they just added another one to the Boston Red Sox and to speak about all that Mike joins us on the show. CBS sports baseball writer, find him on Twitter at Mike, Mike. Thanks for joining us tonight, my friend sure, I pick them on you have Alex Cora who is able to win a world. What possibly I don't want to jinx it possibly. A World Series in his first year. John Farrell was able to win a couple Tito won a couple just how important are managers in the modern era. Baseball other obviously, very important. I do think the role has absolutely changed and just because there's so much input from the foreign office. And there's just so much information given these managers now their job is not so much to put the guys in the lineup and make a Baltimore. It's taking this information to the coaches giving it to the players explaining it leaning to use it and and these days what salaries? They also manage the egos, and that's that's a big part of it. You know, even with all the analytics, and all that managers are incredibly important just like the job took the job description has changed a little over time. So what changes at least what might have led to the change to pick Alex coral Alex Cora from John Farrell, and and what was their overall goal. Because obviously, it's it's gonna work out pretty nicely here for Boston Farrell. Apparently. There was a lot of problems with communication and some Red Sox World Series. I've been asked about the difference. And they said it's supposed to be an occasion Murphy wasn't. I don't wanna say he didn't have like an open door policy. But maybe he wasn't as. And it's connected to the team as Koren and strength for core. I don't think that's the only reason the Red Sox need to change. I mean, the last two years as quickly in the so when that happens. Managerial change, but that's the big difference. Here. I think is is is just a communication and relationships. Their car has the way he's made this team jell together. It's not the same team is last season. But it's largely the same cast. The core is still the same just a totally different team. Mike sexy. So with us on the show. What's the biggest thing we overreact to his fans in the postseason? Everything pretty much. David price tonight prices having the game of career tonight and two weeks ago that guy was a postseason choker couldn't handle the big spot. And now he's got a pretty good chance with World Series MVP, and it just. The postseason a lot of weird things. Happy Mookie Betts is not having a good post. He's eight the homeland tonight. But he hasn't been good up to this point. An incredible player, and I would take him in the postseason. These like the guy I wanted to play in any situation. The postseason gets weighed a little too heavily. And I understand it. But at the end of the day still it is still the same game. And you got to be a little bit too careful to react to some not overreact to some things. And I think we see that with the dodgers with their lineups away. They tune they have all these righty back because lefties couldn't work for them for two games in Boston. And they completely changed it up and do something different. And that just kind of leads the problems, they just change everything you do based on a little bit of information on the postseason. Mike FCC joining us on the show. I'm so glad you brought up David price because I've never seen the post-season cost a front end pitcher of money. It always seems that any team just is going to take him. And we'll figure it out after that. But how does pitcher like him who who seemed to be man just talking to the trees months ago? How does he get that figured out in the same thing for a guy like Klay Clayton Kershaw who's who's been very good in his own, right? This postseason and hasn't always had that history. The price, you know, early in his career with the raise he did have some really good postseason smarts. And you kind of got some tough luck losses. Our they didn't really score runs for him. And I think it sorta became like a self-fulfilling prophecy where David price can win the postseason even was pitching kind of well it kinda compound to the head a little bit. And then he started the pitch poorly. And I think that thi me headings Houston. We started on short rest. I dunno something clicked. But it seems like he was taking. This conference was able to roll from their and ultimately, it just comes down to the fact that this guy's a great pitcher and get to where he is where he's been in his career one young award. Biggest pitching contract in baseball history. I don't think you could do that without handling pressure. I don't think that's part of it. I think. There was too much pressure for some things didn't go this way. And I think he kinda got out of his own head a bit kind of figured out. You know, this is the game. I speak to be the regular season. It works out for him. And and he's been marvelous tonight. He's on short. Two days ago when he's been having touched on the dodgers, Mike joining us on the show. So last year they fall in seven the dodgers due to Houston. It looks like they might fall in five to Boston. This year is their change coming to LA. Can you do? Has to be some change, obviously. And I think this series especially you just look at the bullpen. The dodgers. You know, you feel like you're come at any baseball game this season any point you see a bunch of guys who throw a hundred with nasty sliders, and the doctors don't really have anyone like that. They're open is not as good as. Last year is it has been the last few years. That's been a big difference with him. White guy's gonna wind up just hitting like David freezes two of their three hits tonight. One of them was a truck up up and this money grandma, hasn't hit Machado weather, this post-season. They have a lot of guys who just listen to us. At the same time. They need to overhaul. Things are still a very good team. You know, you don't get the fact that bec World Series. But they do need some tweaks they gotta figure out their bullpen. Do you think there's some changes that could be made on the infield could do better at second base going forward? I don't know if they can overhaul coming. Hey, Manny Machado hates Boston. So he's gonna end up in Boston this off season. It's. To deal with their money. But I think I don't think it's as crazy as people think if they could afford to go after them because as you know, somebody like Raphael Evers looks not many Machado. But I don't think it's going to happen. But I don't think it's completely out of the question if they have the money, I think they would kind of get they're towing the pool their where's Bryce Harper. Gonna end up. I hate to see right now. I think the most likely outcome is he goes back to Washington. But I would take the field over that. I think the individual team the best chance at the national that would still bet on the field here. I think somebody's gonna step up with a monster contract. And. It'll be one of four teams in the national. The cubs the Phillies are the Yankees. One of those teams will be. I still think the nationals they're gonna cut go out and go to a level where maybe we expect them to go because they were still good enough to win next season Harper centerpiece. I don't think they want him to go. I think they would love to make him. A lifelong national man is it seemed like they were going to go just the cheapskate route. That'd be amazing if they were to go out there and to make them an offer, basically, he couldn't refuse on that, Mike. Yeah. And the nationals certainly have the money. I mean, the learners are one of the wealthiest families among baseball ownership in the game. They have the money, and you have got max Scherzer still in his time in Strasbourg. And now, you're one sort of as well and Anthony Rando you have the talent to win. It didn't work out this year. The year ago. They won the division. They wanted to fishing recent years, the coreys bearing. They wouldn't without Harper. Yeah. Maybe it depends on their best to when his with Bryce Harper. Harper knows probably more valuable in Washington anywhere else. Where you have kind of a legacy already where if he were to go to the Yankees, he wouldn't be certainly be the mid Darren judge. He goes to the cubs. It would be Kris Bryant, you know, he's got the Senate. He's got the center of attention in Washington that might not be the case somewhere else. So I think he's more valuable. Most valuable Washington. I think he's the best fit for both sides. Who's been I'm sorry. My who's been the biggest disappointment this off season as far as the team's concerned. I think I think it's the nationals to speak on the season. They just had I thought they were gonna Winston sufficient easily. And then I say postseason I say off season. You said off-season, I'm sorry. I met postseason nationals. I can agree. I meant postseason. It's been the biggest brain fart who's been. The biggest disappointment this postseason as a team is concerned. Sorry, my stuff. I think it has to be the club's because I think the cubs were the most talented team in the National League. And then they ended up having to play a game one sixty three as the division title, which they lost. And then they had to play the wildcard team. I think thirteen innings may scored one run. One game. It's always away, but they kind of self right there. You know, I think the extra I thought there would be a little bit better than they were. I mean, they totally dominated the Indian. But once they get into the Red Sox. He just looked like a mismatch there. But I think he's a based on the outcome. The causes or just the way they went out so quietly is it somehow disappointment if this generation of cubs only comes out with one World Series. I don't think so because I think these days it's it's so hard to have a quote, unquote dynasty. I don't think we're we're gonna see the team wins. The reader are four and five years ago in the ninety s because there's so much more parody. Now, so many teams are much smarter. Talent better. And the way the money is spread out. Now, you don't really have the superpower topics a little bit closer together. Would it be a disappointment? Yeah. Kinda but they did get a World Series out of it where the nationals, and if you don't get a championship. Harper sherzer era. That's a real disappointment though. That's a sick as it can get my gut has the pitching just been that much better are are the bat slumping a little bit with the lack of I don't know. People have been arguing about the lack of home runs or the lack of just heading in the strikeouts have been up what's going on, Mike? They can all start with the pitching. I mean, you look at look at the guy who's going to the mound every night. It's unbelievable. How anybody ever gets a hit just throw so hard? Now, the planes are just so precise. Water strikeouts in baseball now. And I think it starts with it starts with the pitching hitters doing more Brian with a little bit. I think it starts just so these days. They've been fantastic. And I it some of it may be a little bit left were guys are sitting back a little bit more and trying to hit more home runs with launch angles and all the other science that's involved. Some of that hocus pocus. I don't understand my even though I sound old. I'm still relatively young. And even that's above my head. Well, it's I mean, it's certainly something that a lotta hitters believe in. And I think it's a it's kind of a chicken thing here where things are looking at the pitchy can saying. You're so good. It's so much harder to string together basis. Score runs over to hit the ball out to the ballpark and hitter kind of a Justice pitching in the pictures of kind of justed back, and it's going to keep happening in this stuff. It does tend to be cyclical it might take a few years. But I think we'll eventually see a shift back to more be more contact oriented game that you're kind of the eighty the were all about speed. And then we had all the brands in the nineties and the two thousand the home runs are back now. But I think we'll we'll see a balance out eventually. So this one's basically I can't say basically over because I don't like to jinx things. I don't know why who wins the twenty nine thousand nine World Series. Twenty nine thousand nine. I don't feel like the, you know. Top to bottom. I still feel like the Astros are the most talented team. And even though they got beat up by the hash by the Red Sox. They're still think that they're the most talented team. They have the most young talent to be together. In other maybe lose Dallas Tyco and Charlie Morton, but I feel like they they they won't have much trouble to replace those guys. I still can have thoroughly very goal. So if I had to pick right now, I think it's the Astros just because they're still together and it's still young enough to win. Yeah. What about that guy? Who was taking the pictures though, this Halloween you can find treats for everybody. At Walgreens, like the fairy Princess who only likes kit cats, or the superhero, who's allergic to peanuts..

Dominated pivotal game. Was stands response. Did you did? And then we went to game seven start relieve Kershaw. Does it all and I said just do it in the World Series? And I didn't hear.
