It's widely considered one of the healthiest diets. You can follow and the mediterranean diet really. Is you know popularized. By people in italy and greece. And that's that form spain Kind of that that region around the mediterranean sea. And obviously when you live near a sea seafood is really really common. When a seafood's very rich in omega three fatty acids a lot of other great nutrients that are a part of seafood and that is base and people in the mediterranean diet. Also have access to olives and olive oil and olive. Oil is a fantastic food as well and so typically mediterranean diet as you can see in this pyramid people around. This area tend to be very active. You know enjoy community and so that's a pig foundation as you can see like at the bottom of the pyramid then as you go up. Food's at they're consuming a lot of vegetables. Lots of different colors which provide polyphenyls they do consume grains which tend to be whole grains and healthier grains than you know. Typical process grains in america. As i mentioned seafood is very common and also dairy eggs things like that and less often will be more your red meats and sweets and so. That's what's common with the mediterranean diet. And you could see her veggies know. Here's a typical plate vegetables. You've got some sort of protein on typically fish shellfish things like that they do eat fruit and grains and starches but a lot of vegetables as you can see in using olive oil typically as the oils with olives. And if you ever had like a greek salad they've got like feta cheese in there things like that which you can have a lot of health benefits to them now. Let's talk about toasts because the mediterranean diet will not get your body into ketosis. Not unless you're doing intermittent fasting and doing something like one meal a day. Then you can eat. The mediterranean diet eat the grains and the fruit and so get into ketosis. however if you're consuming more than one meal a day it will not get you in ketosis because it's going to be too high in carbs and the benefits of kito cicis. Are that your body burns. Fat for fuel. And it is a very clean fuel source. You produce more energy with key tones and a less metabolic waste. And so it's a clean burning fuel and it's it's also very advantageous Brain runoff ketones because helps reduce inflammation in the brain helps you function in things sharper and quicker and so many benefits. So major differences between the diet mediterranean diet again mediterranean diets certainly gonna be higher in carbs usually about roughly around forty to fifty percent of the calories and mediterranean or coming from carbs. Now that's better than typical american diet. Or what the american heart association recommends. Which i believe is similar on sixty percent carbohydrates. So it's better. It's lower than that and typically on a mediterranean diet. You're doing something around twenty percent protein and thirty percent fat..

"See fifteen percent off. Today that's right so we call it a well-formulated ketogenic diet rather than just akito genyk diet as we want to make sure we're getting that nutrient you know. Ultimately we always want maximal nutrients minimal talks getting that ganic high quality foods really nutrient dense sources is the key to doing that. And ultimately it's always a personalized approach right like you were saying that. Twenty grams net. Carb for some people that are you know in a sense that they just. They have significant insulin resistance. They need to get down rolo. But somebody that's healthier. That hasn't better. Metabolic flexibility better at utilising glucose as an energy when it does elevate up and they don't need to screw as much insulin. They can handle more cards than a healthier lifestyle is a healthier. The more that you're applying this the more you can turn on that fat burning switch and crete that metabolic machinery and. That's really one of the big things that you guys emphasize in the key. Three sixty program that you developed right absolutely. It's it's really do made simple ganic plus proteins from yeah broth collagen in it allows you. I think to go in and out sometimes. Ps select out of kito. Because they're afraid they'll never be able to do it and often the freedom to veer off occasionally is important and i could kito as an automobile. Yeah can turn it on anytime you want to understand the blueprint or have the key. That unlocks the ignition. And i think that that's really been our goal for me. I'm never going to be far away from kito. Cicis rights and people argue with me. You're telling me the kito diet as an ancestral. There's no way that people only eight high fat and butter etc. And they're right even say you wrote the makers. I jesus a bread. He was called the bread of life and he fed the five thousand men plus others with loaves of bread. But here's the bottom line kito so this is not simply twenty grams of net carbs. Kito sus can involve fasting. And that was the primary way that are biblical ancestors. Kato's i always tell the story the sermon on the mount. Jesus was talking to the crowd and then the message was over. The disciple said let's get out of here and get some food and jesus said no. We can't let these people begin their journey home or they will faint on the way they haven't eaten in three days now. He didn't say they're going to faint. Now can had to walk maybe a day or two. Yeah so point. Being it was not rare to go eighteen hours two days or three days without eating right that automatically ensure that they were in. Tito's this quite often. Fasting is part of it. Because i know the macro ratio and i really believe it has more to do with the high fat than it does the low carb because you can be on a low carb high protein diet. And you're not going to be in kato katose. It's all about the fat. The fat is your governor for using the car. In algeria it helps prevent you from having your glucose too high. Your insulin you high. So that's a way to get into ketosis to certainly a seventy percent fat calories twenty to twenty five percent protein five to ten percent carbs. There are other ways to such as certain. Fats like mcat's from coconut or from home oil. And then you've got the very fact that you consume a naturally caffeinated beverage any caffeine but green tea. Black tea coffee that will help you. Produce key tones right. And lastly you can consume supplements that have what we call eggs urgent keystone so cater three sixty five ways to get into your fat burning zone right. Don't get hung up. There are people that freak out on facebook online. You're consuming thirty-seven net carb grams. That's not really kito keeps. Hostess is the freedom to be able to burn fat as fuel without measuring anything. If you can go twelve hours without eating and instead of feeling bad you feel better right. And frankly i feel better in a fasted state oftentimes than i do when i'm just eating. Yeah and i can tell you. Lions are more an energetic when they are hungry than when they are full so it's also goes into sort of the intermittent fasting which is a key component key. Three sixty doesn't just following macro it's trying to minimize your eating window. Which helps fuel your body without without a doubt. our ancestors were fascinating chitose. Really or ketogenic. Lifestyles really fasting. Mimicking diet is obviously our ancestors. Were producing these key tones and utilizing them but they weren't intentionally trying to do it. They just either had cultural practices or religious practices built around fast enough food right right and so often. The body developed this mechanism to be able to produce these key tones and they have this epigenetics influence to down regulate inflammatory genetic pathways in our body to help improve certain neurotrophic growth factors and our brain. And i just give us this incredible performance benefit. That's why we call it the kito the you know in a sense that kito edge lifestyle right in the summit because it gives us that ultimate edge and life and like you said we don't need to be dogmatic about it. Ultimately the goal is. And i know this is your goal akito with the the keno three sixty lifestyles. Help people become in a sense. Be able to trust their intuition. How their bodies responding and be able to go longer periods without food because we need develop that metabolic flexibility where you can turn on the switch and let's say you did have carbs. Let's say you know all of a sudden fruit or whatever it was your body was good at getting those those glucose out of the bloodstream quickly into the cells because of its elevated in the bloodstream. It's toxic and damage nerves all kinds of stuff like that At advanced lit again products. All this this whole shenanigans that goes on our body destroying ourselves so we get it out utilize for energy and then bryant. We don't continue with these hypercard meals. We might extend our period of time without food or do a high fat meal. Shortly after suey can get our body back to burning fat as its primary fuel source and like you said we should be able to go easily twelve hours. I mean really sixteen eighteen hours as long as we're hydrated we got the minerals and feel good. I always feel my best at like the peak of my fast. Yeah just feels great and as you get going you may be able to extend it where you're able to do like a full day like twenty four hours and it's not that big a deal and that's when you have the freedom that metabolic flexibility and that's where you're sharing with people with the kito three sixty program and you're adding in these college absolutely proteins right getting those getting good healthy nutrient dense food sources and adding those key amino acids to support the -joyed sport the immune system. So sounds like a great all round program or you said your son's doing it and he's now yes yup and so a lotta times. Athletes are concerned about ketogenic livestock because athletes especially basketball players and athletes that are doing longer amounts of exercise rights or whether they're playing a sport for multiple hours players basketball players tennis players. They're concerned.

This podcast is an audio recording of one of my most popular youtube videos on the difference between a real food ketogenic diet and dirty Kito, we know. Kito. Genetic Diet is is very popular. Kito is popular, but a lot of people are not doing it appropriately they're eating foods that are just not healthy for the body. So I'm GONNA show you how to do hito appropriately seeking get the fat burning energy. And brain enhancing benefits that come with it. I'm GonNa show you strategies that I use on a regular basis to make sure I'm getting all the nutrients I need. So I can really thrive in life I. Know You're GonNa, get tremendous value out of this podcast, and if you would just take a moment and leave us a five star review that actually helps us reach more people and influence more lives, your of us really count, and that really means the world to me when he take a moment and do that for us. So if you could do that, we would be eternally grateful and let's go into the podcast. Food Kito vs dirty Kito. There's a lot of people that go to apply Ketogenic Diet but they're just not focusing on food quality and that's what we're going to focus on in today's presentation here, and so we know that he toasts this powerful physiological state were instead of running on. Glucose and glucose only our body becomes very metabolic flexible Maria to actually burn our own body fat as well as fat that we're taking it from her diet. So it's a high fat diet. Very. Very low carb diet which turns us into a lean mean fat burning machine, and so there are multiple ways to get into ketosis and when we look at dirty Kito, the goal of dirty Kito for somebody that's practicing this. They're really they're focusing on getting into Kito, CICIS. But at the same time enjoying comfort and convenience, and so unfortunately, there oftentimes choosing foods that are very high in chemicals and carcinogens very high and inflammatory fats, very high and hormones and antibiotics. So they're getting a lot of processed meats, talk about the different foods but these foods over. Basically Overwhelm our liberal they cause inflammation high levels of oxidative stress they enhance they accelerate the aging process is definitely not what we're trying to accomplish here but here the main dirty foods you want to avoid conventional meat products we want to go with grass Fed Organic Basically want to get the highest quality foods particularly, animal foods. Our goal should always be maximal nutrients and minimal toxins is really important to remember you food that has the maximum amount of nutritional value with the least amount of toxins. Dirty foods just don't do that these a lot of refined vegetable oils, canola oil, corn, soybean oil. SAFFLOWER oil cottonseed, peanut oil you're seeing these earn a Lotta condiments a lot of processed foods, lot of fried foods these things ramp up oxidative stress, their damaged fats, they're toxic they accelerate the aging process. Definitely, not something we want because massive inflammation in your body in general fried foods. So if you're thinking about like pork rinds or something along those lines, he's are fried foods that are toxic just not very healthy for the body conventional dairy products loaded with hormones and antibiotics and high amounts of omega six fatty acids that can promote inflammation in the body artificial sweeteners. I'm talking about things like splendor aspartame, monosodium, glutamate MSG. These are things we wanNA avoid ace full-time potassium is. Another one. So sweeteners, do you want to go with our Stevia monk fruit in maybe.

"Make more mitochondria to increase bone density to increase those all are expensive resource using things. You gotta you gotTA figure out how to trick the body into doing that by giving the genetic signals the 'cause jeans turn on that Br that Bill Muscle causes genes at turn on that make might ikaria bones stronger whether it's support the immune system. All of these are well within our control as humans based largely on choices. We make with the foods that we choose to eat. How much sleep we get. How well we control stress types of exercise we choose to choose the one type of exercise you become long and skinny and gaunt you choose to do another type of exercise you become larger and more muscular and stronger so my life's work has been really about identifying these hidden genetic switches that we all have and exposing them to people and saying here's here's something you might try if this is your goal. You mentioned this already but I want to get back to this should you? Your book is Kito for life. Should always be in key toasts us. So that's kind of Bait and switch. I guess because also you've worked with publishers and so you come up with a we come up with a title and you like your title and they like yours and you wind up putting them together. This is a longevity book. So this is this is. This is a book about how to live a longer happier. Healthier more productive loving life and Kito for life was and because Kito was my last book they needed to transition. It's great but what what I'm talking about and want to talk about Tito and here's a good segue to make that Distinction Keno is a way of of eating away of living that embodies this low carb methodology but it doesn't just require or involve or necessitate low carb. You can go kito just by not eating so if you if you don't eat for three days you're in Ketosis. You prompt the body to create these towns. Now it's a lot easier if you don't eat for three days if you become kito adapted if you are sugar burner and you don't eat for three days you know that's where you have the visions. That's where you see Elvis. Jesus and I mean you see the whole the whole thing right so and the crash and burn crash and burn. That's the crash and burn so to ease your way into this. This kito way of of eating has as much to do with. How often you eat the choices that you make when you eat the nature of eating so as I talk a lot about in the book and I talked a lot on podcast. I don't know if you know a guy name art devaney so so art you know. He's always been ahead of the curve on everything and one of the things he started ten years ago was he just ate frankly. Some data meals on Sundays three meals. Sundays at big meal a small meal and and he changes it. Because that's the human experience historically. You didn't have three portion controlled meals a day plus two snacks plus a a bedtime. Pick me up or whatever so kito for life is really about adopting this way. This is Keo eating strategy that allows you to maintain metabolic flexibility. Whether you go off Kito for a couple of days and say I'M GONNA. I'm gone on vacation pasta and suffer the consequences but like I I went to move to Miami and my wife and I found this restaurant and you know I had pasta for seriously for fifteen years and and we found a positive. That's got this amazing. Truffle Alfredo Sauce and it was gluten free pasta and we like you know once a week we would go there and ordered salmon and the pasta split both and that would be our meal but I love to eat. I love food. I want everybody to food. I put my mouth to taste. Great so I`ve. I'm not advocating for sacrifice and discipline and I'm just. I'm advocating for mindful eating ultimately arriving at a place where you are so intuitively tune into your own body that you don't need to think about it. You will go. I could eat the whole cheesecake but you know. I know that's not going to serve me so I'll have a bite that will serve me. You know I can. I can go without eating this next meal because I don't have time to eat and I've got some things to do and I'm confident that my body will have zero negative consequences from that and I won't be angry and I won't think about not eating. I'll just it's such as I say it's such a a level of freedom that most people never get to experience when you think about how much of your life is tied to eating and regular mealtimes and being Hungary and feeding the hunger and most most cases unnecessarily like you're not really hungry you're just like your mouth is watering because it's twelve thirty and his lifetime you bring up a good point so many people become hang greed when the start a diet. Yeah that's the low bludger so not having become fat adapted yet and that's why diets don't work if you just count calories if you're if you're just saying well I'm GonNa Kito sounds good but I don't think I could go without eating carbs. I think I'll just count calories. The discipline works as long as it does. And then it stops and most people who are carb centric eaters who start to cut back on all their calories. They get hungry. They get angry now. They're fighting at the whole way. Typically they have this entirely different physiology that when they don't eat instead of the body just going. Hey I got this. I'M GONNA burn fat and GonNa make key tones. It's all GonNa be great love. What you're doing. The body goes wait a minute. I'm used to carbohydrates what's going on the brain starts to get panicky sends signals to deliver the I mean to the Adrenals the adrenals secrete Cortisol Cortisol then goes out and and literally tears. Down Muscle tissue to find a couple of amino acids it can send to deliver to become glucose and it becomes a very destructive process. And that's the experience that most people had dieting in the seventies eighties nineties. And when you used to watch the biggest loser why don't you didn't watch it but you see these people lose two hundred pounds in a season one hundred fifty hundred eighty two hundred pounds. Then you hear about three years later. They're back to where they were before. And and bigger because they they lost muscle mass and Their metabolism's got all screwed up. And now it took fewer calories to to fill them and yet they still had the hunger thing. It's horrible so the Kito lifestyle really sort of fixes all that and does so without necessitating that you be Kito. Genyk your whole your whole life term. Kito Service is an interesting term because osas means an excess of something so key. Does this basically means you have an excess of key tones in the bloodstream? Well when you first start eating this way delivers like I knew this liver start pumping tones and because you haven't built a metabolic machinery to burn them. You can take a blood test and you'll oh my gosh. I'm four minimal or six million more. Yes does well. That doesn't mean anything to me. That you're in Cato's I mean if you're making key tones but if you're not using them you're not you're not getting the benefits of this lifestyle so you have to build metabolic machinery and there's IT takes. It takes a little bit of time and a little bit of dishes area. Where you you have to be disciplined about it But there are certain workouts that you can do. That will enhance the effect more quickly. But there's a point at which you become so kito adapted that the liver which started out going frantically pumping out tetons and you pay them out and that's why you show purple on these trips and you read them out. And that's why you're friends. Stay away now delivers going see. I know what you're doing here. You'RE NOT GONNA you're not GonNa fool me I want to save. I want to conserve energy. Because that's a human. The human experience is to not use resources waste resources and and the body recognizes that once you get adapted fat adapted. Most of the work you do throughout the day can be fueled by fat so your muscles are now burning blige in a little bit. But they're not they're mostly burning fat and you can do eighty five ninety ninety two percent of all your work just burning fat and that's a beautiful thing so now you're as you're just walking around the day or doing you know minor tasks and even going to the gym mostly burning fat now. The brain doesn't burn fat. The brain is using ketones so he got the muscles using the fact the brains using ketones. You don't need glucose very much at all a little bit for red blood cells and a few other things but your body actually makes glucose it's ice again. It's so elegant. Steve triglycerides three fatty acids combusted. The glacier all becomes part of a mechanism that makes glucose right. It's it's so elegant to almost like a closed loop so your liver just goes. I see what you're doing when you go to the gym and you do all this work your legs you do leg day and your legs require thirty times as much energy to go through that work while you're doing your legs. How much energy does your brain require? Same as use aim as usual so the brain just goes like this all day long right and and if all you're doing supplying tunes for the brain deliver get. I'm just going to pump out enough key to the brain. Don't need to waste these resources. And P them outer or exhale them or sweat them out and so what you find. Is that people who had been in. Akito lifestyle for long. Don't even register as in Kito CICIS on these monitors because they're so well adapted the body's just got dialed in. It's it's such a beautiful thing this this body that we have. That's great information because I have a number of patients as you know all my books. I have a chapter of the Kito plant paradox system and a ton of my patients We'll come in and say I'm in Kito Service. And you know my my strips Aaron Ketosis or my breath machine or my blood. Says I'm really key. Dealers was huge ketosis. And I haven't lost an ounce This doesn't work and I think your explanation is incredibly good That just because you're pumping out all these key tones doesn't mean you're actually using them. No in some cases people will use the sort of the dirty kito or the shortcuts. And they'll say okay I heard. Mcat oil is a is a is a great substrate to make tones so they drink mcat or you drink too much and you and you have digestive upset. But I'm true or kitone salt and because they think they're doing chasing the key tones and you gotta chase to results. I don't care about the tones. I want the results and the fact that I know what's going on below the surface. I know that you're making tones. That's all I care about so if you show me that you're in Ketosis that's great. I think that's an awesome. I pass for you in the first couple of steps but do the work do the workout in the gym. And then what you will find. Bet this is happening with with your patients We don't need to eat nearly as many calories as we think we do I amaze and almost scare myself on. How few calories I eat some days and still carrying a little bit of you know mass here muscle mass. And it's it's amazing to think that this system that we evolved can become a closed loop if you think about it this way. All right you don't eat for sale..
