"As we should have been last year. And everybody knows that and coach Harrison knows that. I think for us the important part is address the areas of concern and be able to move forward. And I'm thankful that coach has made he's made changes, but he's also now in a little bit more of a stable environment as COVID is, I don't say moved on, but as we've gotten more accustomed to it, I know he's engaging with our student athletes. He's engaging with his coaches. And with the fans, he was playing golf out in the region's tradition. And just being more natural in his element. And so we're looking forward to an exciting football season. That had to be a difficult experience for you because you're the athletic director. You ultimately made that higher and there have been many articles that have documented that. That's not, and by the way, there should be no mystery. If you have the athletic director, but it seemed rather painful to watch from a distance. What was it like for you to watch? Yeah, you know, look, every school has challenges that they have to work through and ours happen to be in the media. And I'm thankful that the university went through a good process and came out that there was nothing more to some of the, I guess, the tweets or whatever the social media things were out there. So those are difficult times. I think they build character. I will tell you our team is closer than they ever have been. Our coaching staff is closer than they ever have been. And they're really hungry to go out and represent the auburn family. And finally, one thing that came out during the harsh and episode or Odyssey was your own situation. And I know, normally, I feel like director of futures are not discussed in media, but yours has been. I'm sure you haven't missed it. So what does your future look like at.

"I almost asked him because I can just imagine a guy like you having to watch Kirby smart as the national champion. I just have a little bamboo sticks shell done in my fingernails and look at her. I can't stand. I can't stand a little pose. I mean, God bless you, man. Easter timing. Yeah, absolutely. But JK, now I'm not going to waste too much time on him, Paul. Because I mean, he's done with chicken butt nuggets. I mean, he's not even worth the time. I mean, he's never going to be my rap. And with Alabama, if Miami ever gets on the field with us again, we will go prison yard on them. And he called ACC networked as when are you going to talk about Miami hurricane? ACC team. And not even the best team in the ACC. Why don't I talk about him? I laugh at him. I joke about it. I mean, because that's how they are as a joke, Paul. I mean, the only thing that got Miami. I mean, I got a big shot, you know, you used to have a girlfriend down to Miami. She was pretty hot Cuban cheek. And on the day when I used to go down to Miami, you know, pretty much every week. At that time, and she got made at me over political reasons. The only date only girl I ever broke up on the political reason. But I don't have anything for Miami hurricanes. I mean, so what did they say won't just talk about them? We will. We'll talk about how they are. That much big losers they are. So JK, man my haters want to talk about Miami hurricanes. Hey, I'll be happy to abide you. Look out, you know what? Here's little team sucked out. They suck. They so good to have heaven and God forgive me. I know you got some heart bishop. But God bless the Miami hurricanes. I mean, God bless them. Lord knows they ain't got a date. I don't know what you're good at, Paul. They're Cadillac Texas a and M ain't good at no. I'm in their good at this. And did you hear about ty Simpson got an IO deal? Hadn't heard that. Makeup quarterback in Alabama. So next Ivan's coming after y'all take to say Annie and Texas LongHorn y'all get ready to kill his own money. Hey, we're making to do it because I mean, we got players at 80 things to play this year. That's already getting an aisle. And the ones that I mean, they're going pro. They're going broke. I mean, George, I have one year where we got a bunch of players going bro way to this every year. I mean, wake up through this every year. We lose players. We're talking to loses many this year, we have a year fast. They go out. What we've done last year is probably Nick Saban's best coaching job he's ever done because we did not have the best team last year. Handsome Joe, one last time before we hang up. What were you thinking about when you saw Kirby smart on your screen? Paul, I'll be honest, I was given the number one sound. And I thought about chicken crap..

"I was calling to ask your opinion as to how you might learn any lessons by comparing what Kurt flood did 30 years ago to the NIL experience today. I have a point of view and I'm not sure I've got it right. Yeah, let me hear it. When I hear well, when I hear people like Kirby smart and I think going to fun is great and I think that the coaches and the SEC are basically good people. I think Major League Baseball's problem was that the owners of Major League Baseball and the other side of the table. I don't think they're particularly good people. I think this thing can work out whatever kinks. It's going to I mean, it's going to be a big money game. We know that. Building up the universities that have been an arms race ever since we had Clinton had this student loan thing where all of my family went to the university, not the kids. That can't stop. But I think these guys that you have on your show are very high caliber people. And I think they're going to do the best they can to see that this evolution is not a catastrophe. And that doesn't become like Major League Baseball, where they, you know, I mean, 30 years later, they're still on strike about this side of the other thing. It didn't work. That's my take, but you know better. I think you're right. And I can be as cynical as the next person. But I think genuinely, when you hear Kirby smart talking, he understands the importance of building these players because they are your ambassadors for the next generation, but I think the issue here isn't so much the coaches. There's no system in place to legislate it. And all the people that want to blame one person and it's easy to blame the head of the NCAA, but it's not only his fault, Billy. There is a lot of blame to go around because nobody wanted to deal with this. It goes back really almost 20 years ago, I think with the Ed o'bannon case and it's been festering out there and the NCAA as a whole and individual conferences have just simply tried to sell this farce that this is amateur athletics. It's not. I think they finally got caught and they weren't really prepared for it, and now it's just, it's an open market, which is fine. You have schools who are pushing the envelope so far that it's shocking even people inside. However, what they're doing is in theory legal. The illegal isn't the answer as you know. Yeah. I mean, I have less confidence in the administrations, which are driven by really driven by money. Here I am in the players and the coaches and the ADs that I think they face players. They can't run away from these guys. The difference between the old time calipari rent your superstars, where you got duke starting 5 McDonald's Americans. Against playing against Villanova that doesn't have any. I mean, these football coaches sound like they're trying to build people. And I like that. But Billy, what's happening in intercollegiate athletics are right now. You hear the arms race line. This is a completely different aspect of it. And I think Sabin said the other day that it's not sustainable. I think at some point, the system is going to break. I don't know who will be the loser for it. Well, I do, well, let me correct myself. I do know who the losers are going to be. And they are going to be any university who is not at the upper Echelon, the superpowers, because this is all about money and it's an enormous amount of money and guess what? Everyone doesn't have that much money. Yeah. That's sad. I mean, the heart of the SEC are small states that are not have giant incomes. Georgia does Florida does. Right. Alabama's got a fabulous tradition. The other side of that. The television money is going to double in the next 5 years. That sounds incredible. But it will. But even that even that $100 million a year that they're going to get and now they're only getting 40 to 50 million, that has to be spread a lot of different places. And I think the boosters are going to get weary at some point because they're already paying an absolute fortune to get their tickets. They're paying on top of that. The ability to keep your tickets. And now they're being pushed as our guest a minute about an hour ago said to put money into these collectives. Yeah, okay. Okay. Well, I hope you're right. I hope it works. I don't know the future. You don't have the future. I just like the people I'm dealing with. I want to do a really like the people who own baseball teams. There are good people. Now, the people that own baseball teams were just a bunch of greedy, a bunch of greedy racist in the back of the day. And they finally got, you know, the only people that I think are worse than that are the 32 guys who own NFL teams. I agree with you about that, so. Well, after the NFL, we have the best sports product in America. Billy, I had the occasion about whenever Steve spurrier coach to Washington, the brief pair. I met him after the game. I went up there for a game. And I was in the locker room and here comes Daniel Snyder. And I swear, I mean, the grime was coming off of his forehead onto my under my coat. I mean, I've never been around anybody quite like him. I haven't had that experience. I didn't know it was that bad, but it was pretty good. Hey, thank you very much for the call. JK is up next. Hello, JK. Hey. Let's go up, Paul. JK, we have been waiting for your call all night. Hey man, check this out. Paul, I don't know if Kirby was that a shot across the barrel with a direct missile to a couple of these coaches that have been out here whining..

"Than I do, but what does scouts see and what don't they see sometimes when these guys that they go low and obviously we just got through spending a period of time talking about Brady, but why are we supposed to believe all these mock drafts when so many people get them wrong? We shouldn't believe them. I guess it's what I would say. I think here's what I would say. Quarterbacks come in different shapes and sizes. So it's different than a position like left tackle. A guy at left tackle better B 6 fours. Arms better be a certain length. The reality for quarterback is, it might be Drew Brees's size. You know, he might look like Michael Vick. He might look like Patrick Mahomes. So it's different at quarterback because of that. The physical traits and then Paul, I will say this. I think the hardest thing about evaluating quarterbacks is understanding the level of talent that they are surrounded by, and the level of talent that they are playing against. And so that's why I think it's hard when you watch Carson Wentz. Like, how good are these guys around them? Are Daniel Jones? How bad are these guys around him? And I think that ends up being difficult to try to really decipher and get right because it is a dependent position for the most part. And, you know, not everybody is an expert on every single player on both sides of the ball. And so when you watch quarterback sometimes it looks better than it should and sometimes it looks worse than it should. I think that is the biggest reason for people evaluating quarterbacks incorrectly. In order to close by asking about one in particular in this Matt corral, because I vaguely remember, I mean, he has been high on the list near the top. Now he's almost nowhere to be found in the first round and probably even into the lower parts of that. When you see him and again, he had a good cast around him, but certainly not like some. What do you see with Matt corral? You know, I was asked earlier today, Paul, like, who is an NFL comp for Matt corral. The name that came to mind for me was Jeff Garcia. Now, what do you think of Jeff Garcia? I guess you could, you know, looking at it through that lens, but he's a guy that was winning playoff games. He certainly was a starter and played a high level for a while. And I think that's the type of player that you hope that someone like Matt carrell could be like. You know, somebody that is certainly has the physical tools as a thrower. Kind of has like a athletic slipperiness to his game. But he's built differently than most quarterbacks. Injuries have been a little bit of an issue. And so, you know, I think that, you know, if you were looking at how he would fit, that's the type of player I could see him becoming. Now I think that, in my opinion, that's a hefty compliment to Matt corral. But, you know, I think what it ends up being is a coach that kind of sees that same thing in him, and then ultimately getting an opportunity in a system where those types of skills can flourish in the NFL. Great conversation with Tim Hasselbeck. We really appreciate it very, very much. It's been a busy half hour here with Kirby smart and Tim Hasselbeck. Don't forget, we'll spend the final hour talking about this day and this weekend and what it means to so many different people of different face with the archbishop just located at the Vatican. And we will talk to him in a few minutes. More of your phone calls.

"Athens and Kirby smart moments away from being on this program. I think that certainly will be a high moment for us as we continue here. We've been here two and a half hours, some great guests, Kirby coming up here shortly. Let's get back to the calls here. It's been a while. And Mark is up next in Georgia. Hey Mark hey Paul, thanks for taking my call. Thank you. First off, correct Roman Harper's comments on Georgia's national championships. They also won the 42 championship. And I also wanted to get your comments on comment that Steven a Smith had made last week on ESPN where he was featured with the TM Tebow, where he was asked if George had any chance of beating Alabama this year. And he went on to say almost what the look of disgust on his face that Georgia had no chance of beating Alabama this year. And after Alabama lost this past weekend, he was ask again about that this week. And he doubled down on that comment that Georgia had essentially no chance of beating Alabama. That's interesting. He was on his show today, but I got delayed and it was just so I think that's exactly what he knows I've said to the contrary. I'm sure I'll be all with him shortly. I can't wait to hear that. And he's just Alabama. All kind of credit. I think they're, you know, they have the chance to beat anyone. They've certainly got the talent, but to me it just begs the question of what has this guy watching by all metrics after this one at least in the season that Georgia seems to be the best team that he would be so dismissive of our chances of winning this year. Yeah, I mean, I try to, in spite of what everyone says, I try to look at things as objectively as you can, and right now in my mind, Georgia is a better team. I don't think that really takes a lot of imagination or creativity. And Stephen a is his own entity. So he is Mary, this is funny coming from me, but he is married to Nick Saban, and that in their concept. But you have to be realistic. And what we saw Saturday night was disturbing if you're thinking Alabama is going to win the national championship this year. Agreed. Paul, that's all. I'm just curious, I just respect Stephen a Smith and I certainly respect the element of football program. I just kind of blew me away that somebody that actually watches football could be that dismissive. You may have answered your own question there. He probably doesn't really watch much college football. Well, thanks for taking my call. Thank you. Tony is in Georgia. Hey Tony, you go right ahead. Yes, Paul. Thank you for taking my call. And I've been going down the list on the game, the coaches, Tebow has been hitting on all subject matters. The one subject matter that I think everybody needs to watch in Georgia can run the clock and control the game is the simple fact, Kentucky's linebacker core matcha against Georgia's receivers and tied in. I think that's going to be a key. Well, yeah, that's a pretty interesting analysis. Well, thank you very much for the call. I appreciate it. And you'd be well. We are awaiting a coach smart who was expected to join us momentarily here. We'll take more phone calls at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5 and Kirby smart. The head coach of the dogs will join us in a moment. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast..

"Number is right now? And we're not allowed to talk about that, but I just wanted to make sure. Here's the thing, 23 is a lot. I think it's definitely closer than that. Even though I have a regular Danny Sheridan here. Yeah, well remember when I asked you, you think I could do that as a career and you're like, no. Yeah, I used to, I used to have a newspaper. I know that you don't know this. I used to write that for a newspaper. Oh, I wasn't sure. That was before you were born. And you would pick the games and they always go, aren't you going to do it against the line? I said, no, I'm not going to do it again so I every week I would pick like 20 games. And I'd say last week I was 16 and four and on the season I'm 79 and 12 for percentage of 8 35 and people thought, man, this guy is really good he's nailing it and then one week I kept my number against a line and I went bankrupt. I mean it was just you can not predict I don't even try. It's not worth it. But listen, the reality is, I mean, this game's at home, the crowd's gonna factor in big time just as they have this season. I mean, even we're talking about the noon kick, you know, a couple weeks ago. It's a remarkable place to try and play a football game if you're on the other side dealing with the crowd noise. But Kentucky's a really good team. I see all these tweets, people are like, oh, Kentucky's not that good. But they are really, really talented. And they're going to bring I think they've got to fight in them too. It's probably a good point earlier and Kentucky has beaten LSU in Florida. Yeah. And if this was anyone else, they would be ranked about 5th or 6 in the country. Yeah, no one buys them. Yeah. I know. I'm with you. Instead they're ranked 11th, which, hey, that's great. I mean, congratulations. I'm with you. I think they should be ranked higher based on what they've done so far this season, and the way that they've won those games. I mean, last week, against LSU, that was a game that maybe a prior Kentucky team and maybe even in the early stages of Mark stoops career, even in times when they've been good at Kentucky, they might have lost that game. LSU has way more talent. I mean, let's just be honest about it. And yet this is a team that's playing really well together right now. You can't discount that in any level of sport, but especially not in college football. So mostly you know this because she's on ESPN every day at four o'clock, but is it in hosting NFL live this week or are you going to finally be on a college campus where the name John Gruden has been mentioned? Yes, until you just mentioned it. You know, I was relieved of that until you just until you just said it. Yeah, you know, that has been such a prevailing storyline certainly. And listen, rightfully so considering the nature of the story and the nature of the situation. But I think what it was funny because when Roman Harper got here today, he was asking me about it and just, you know, what it's been like from the NFL standpoint and he said something that really struck me. He said, when things like this keep coming out about certain people, it doesn't surprise me at all. And I thought that's so sad that from the standpoint of a black man who played in the NFL that he would feel that way. And so I do think that we're seeing this shift that's happening should have happened a long time ago. There's still progress to be made. But it's been, I think, really revealing this week to see the different approaches, the conversations and the mindsets around this story. And on a lighter note, it's hard to find a letter note on that subject. People always warn you. I have had friends. Don't, ever put anything in writing. Don't email it. So my question to you. Well, nobody is listening. Uh oh. Can text messages be recall? Yeah, because we're in trouble. And mainly just only because of things that we're saying about each other. I thought about doing a book once of texting with Laura. Well, I'm still thinking about doing the book called texting with Paul. Here's a fun fact about Paul. And there are people out here who also do this. Paul, if you've just sent the text, Paul deletes it. Oh, God. He has no. Your phone right now. I guarantee you there's not a text message thread that's loaded up. That's so weird, right? Does anybody else do that? Yeah, all these young guys are like, I keep all my messages. Yeah, it's blank. That's so weird. Well, I think what I don't want. What are you scared of, Paul? I just gotta fix kubiak just texted us. Oh, he said no. Cubie, what are we doing wrong here? Don't worry about him. He's only the producer of the show. We're in trouble. No. No, my point being. You never know how somebody, because we have fun in text. Yeah. We have fun. Everybody that would make The New York Times or anything. Oh, geez. Yeah. But maybe The Wall Street Journal. I just spit when you said that, sorry, I stood on your table. Who's sitting here next? My bad. Kirby smart. I'll wipe it off. Oh no, Kirby, Kirby, I'm very healthy, don't worry. Paul, you know what was funny earlier though. I was over there hosting NFL live and you've got this great crowd and I'm trying to brag to my Friends on FO live. Hey guys, there's a great crowd here in Athens to get all these great people and nobody was with me. They were all with you. And I thought, I mean, I never doubt my position when it comes to you. Like you are the king and I am your little court jester. But I really felt like it in that moment. And I wanted to say, you know, hey guys, like this shows on ESPN and your show is obviously way more important right now. I didn't realize you were on ESPN. I thought that was like streaming. Yeah, I mean, you're not on ESPN+. I want that too. I don't know where I am. But yeah, thanks a lot, guys. I know where your allegiance lies as it should. It should be right here with this man. Paul find ladies and gentlemen. Whoo. Wow. Kubiak, kubiak loves me right now because I got you off that other stuff. You did. But we will be on ESPN+ in a couple of minutes, continuing that coming. Oh yeah, we're going to keep it going. We're going to reveal all of our text messages and our emails. Hey, baby. Look at that. All the people on radio are like, what's she talking about? But there's a sign that says, hey, baby on the screen. I was talking about you too, Paul. Hey, baby. You were listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. And we're back.

"Telling you, it's right here. If I had a mic, I would drop it. Yeah, that's what we're all taught. I mean, listen, everyone loves the games, but you and I know that the people that sit in chairs like we sit in, that's what we're watching. Sure. And watching these two you're right and push comes to shove and we've seen this act before. That's what you're getting. What does it mean that Jimbo knocked him off? I know that's not a direct core to Kirby. But it is, it shows there's blood dropping. I mean in the past in the past people might have taken some encouragement from that. But there's been blood in the water since Florida had them on the ropes. Again. Because for a fact should be another studio because they were sitting near him, but jumbo, when these two teams met in 2017, he was pulling for Nick Saban. Not that he cared about one another national chamber. He didn't want Kirby to be the first guy. Well, that's good for Jim bow. Let's give him a participation award because he hasn't won anything yet, and he still makes $9 million a year and all he's got is a participation award for beating an Alabama team. Florida should have beaten Nick Saban. I could have called a better play than a draw at the goal line, Dan Mullen, and I mean, good grief. I mean, so he's the first to win. That's good. The Texas a and M fans can feel great about it. That's wonderful. Are they pretty good? They're gonna play the SEC championship? No, but hey, we beat Nick Saban. Okay, that's good. Go get your drink, standing in the corner. Because the main attraction is going to be Georgian, Alabama, in the SEC championship game, Kirby's had these guys on the ropes before. This year, he's got the front 7 and the dogs to get it done. It comes down to players and give Alabama credit. They've had great players making great plays in big moments. These guys are the ones doing that now. And this group right here, Paul, they're not intimidated. They're not psyched out. They've been in the top 5 four straight years again, another day at the office in Athens. We expect Georgia to win these football games. And so the odd makers, by the way, the line is what 23 points over the number 11 team in the country? There is no one like my Griffith and we certainly love having him on Mike. Thank you. We kid around, but nobody can do what you have just got through doing. We appreciate it very, very much. Outstanding. For those of you on radio, we will be right back. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Kirby smart joining us a few minutes. Laura Rutledge before we get to, I want to get your reaction because you covered so much of Don's daily. I mean, that was a remarkable moment there in Colombia. Yeah, it was. Here's the thing about Don staley. I think when we look back on just coaches throughout college athletics, she's going to be remembered as one of the greatest when her career is over and I'm saying that as somebody that she's going to have an extensive career beyond now, but just even the history that's already happened for her, the remarkable moments that she continues to be a part of. I am so impressed. And she's one of my favorite coaches to cover to watch. I think it's just amazing to see what she has accomplished and what continues to happen for that program. We'll have her in her dog champ who visited me a couple of weeks ago on the champ. I heard the champ wants to be your pen pal, but you I don't know if you've responded yet. You have too many other pen pals. I have a lot of dogs, dog Friends. Yeah. You know what? It's funny. Sometimes people ask me, is Paul is Paul fine but I'm like a nice person. Like, no, he's absolutely not. Unless you're a dog. In that case, he will love you. He will kiss you. Your moments with dogs have been borderline inappropriate like borderline PG-13 moments. Yeah, there was one, I do regret, and it happened right here. It was a Tennessee Georgia game and I've apologized to smoky. I was a very nice. As you have seen firsthand, smokey and I have an awkward relationship. Yeah, well, Paul, it's really cool. I got a price I said, smokey, get out of the way. You're like, I'll give this is my favorite dog. I know, I love smokey, so beautiful. It's beautiful, too. The thing is, it's rare for you to have an awkward relationship. So I don't know how that happened. But Bluetooth are a little bit different. Let me put it that way. So the dog pound association of America doesn't come after me. Oh boy. Yeah, you can't yourself in trouble already today. We're like, what, two minutes into this, we're already in trouble? Every week. We're like, they're like, oh no, what are they gonna do this? Well, I had a ESPN actually here's a retired executive. So I'm not really a little bit concerned what he thinks. But he was texting me during our segment last week saying get back to football. And I'm like, that's not what we do. Also, we talk so much football. I mean, sometimes everyone just needs a little break. I talk football all day long with you. People just don't we just can't share those moments in those texts. Because as we wouldn't be good for either one of us. So we're here on the campus of the university of Georgia. The number one team in the country. I mean, it's hard to wrap your arms around that. It's not if you watch Georgia play. And this is what I think is really impressive. I mean, look, here's the reality. Something needed to happen elsewhere. You needed Alabama to get knocked off. But Georgia has the most impressive unit in college football, which is their defense. And so, therefore, a complete team on the other side too. Sets and Bennett does not get enough credit. All this conversation he was a fourth. I thought he was the third. Oh, well, yeah. I mean, there have been three others before him. Maybe some others before that. You never know. I want to meet those other steps in that now let's find him. What a name. I love it. But it is remarkable what he's done. And what they've.
"kirby smart" Discussed on The Paul Finebaum Show
"Of college football lives here. This is the Paul Fein bomb show hour three podcast. And we are back live on the campus of the university of Georgia, the number one team in the country. And that and who better to talk about the dogs than Mike Griffith who we've been talking about the dogs with for a number of years. He has joined us here at site. Good to see you, Mike. Yeah. Great times, Paul. So we don't see you now. We usually see you in that little box wherever you are, but let's talk about this weekend. And the dogs had not always handled success. They lasted one vote in 2008. It seems to be a much higher level of confidence that this Georgia team is going to remain and really is built for success. Yeah, I mean, I guess it depends on how you define handle and success. I mean, George has been a preseason top 5 teams four years in a row, four straight top ten finishes. I mean, Kirby smarts pretty much taken over a lot of these robberies. They beat Florida three out of four. You know what the Tennessee four years in a row? I can't remember the last time. I guess auburn hasn't won since 2017. George has done everything but win the big trophy. And now they've got the team to do it. They've got the momentum. They got the fans. I mean, let me tell you Sanford stadium is going to be a factor tomorrow, Kentucky knows that. And when those fans get loud and Arkansas found that output. I mean, Arkansas and Pittman, he was hanging it up after the first couple series. They couldn't get a snap off. It's 21 to zero before Arkansas gets the barbecue sauce off. They couldn't get anything going that day at Sanford stadium. And I think we'll see more of that again tomorrow. We will talk to Kirby smart in about 30 minutes right here and that will certainly be something I know he's counting on as his team heads out there. And tomorrow, three 30 game, a little bit different than a noon game. It's homecoming, too. Well, you say that, but I mean, they were at a 110 decibels at noon. You're right. You're giving three more. They're gonna be even louder. It's gonna be even louder and even more hostile for the opposing team. And when you put that together with the front 7, like Georgia has, it's gonna make life miserable for this Penn State quarterback. I mean, Penn State to Kentucky, trance. He says he's looking forward to the game. He'll God bless you if you're looking forward to that, man. Let's see if he can get through it. Let's talk about the defense because people have asked me where would you rank this defense? You've covered SEC for a long time. And you've seen elite defenses. How would you answer that question? I mean, they're outstanding. I mean, right now, Georgia leads the country in total defense, scoring defense, past efficiency defense, number four and run defense. I mean, the only people that don't seem to notice are the Lombardi award. The Lombardi award David Pollock won this award back in the day in 2004, they whittled their list down to 12 semifinalists of the best defensive and offensive lineman in the country, not one from Georgia. Three from Alabama. Alabama just gave up 41 points, Paul, but there's two Alabama. Listen, if you don't think these dogs are still hungry and still have something to prove, wait till you get Kirby on the side. He'll tell you, man, nothing has changed here. That number one ranking, it's window dressing. These people, like I said, it's one thing. It's the big trophy, and this game made for that. It's just one more step. I'm just trying to remember if I vote in the Lombardy awards. I think I used to, but I don't need more. Yeah. So let me ask you about that because there's a lot of conversation about this for the high. And there really isn't a Heisman favorite at the moment. Could that happen? Probably the Michigan state running back. Could it happen? Theoretically it could. Will it happen? No. I mean, part of what Georgia does so well is play so many guys on defense. There's so many layers. And if you just look at the numbers, if you didn't see Jordan Davis in person 6 6 three 40 hard to miss Lombardi trophy, hard to miss 6 6 three 40. You know, but you look at the numbers we're talking 15 tackles and 6 games. It's not like he's Charles Woodson blowing up the stat sheet. The good news for George is you've got a guy like Jalen Carter, 17 quarterback pressures. You've got devonta Wyatt. You've got Trayvon walker, and we haven't even got to the second level, Channing tyndall, Nolan Smith, former number one recruit. I mean there is just loaded. Adam Anderson, they got a guy here, Adam Anderson at 6 four two 40, who's faster than all their tail backs. He ran a four four 7 at the Georgia combine. This guy's gonna be off the board in the NFL Draft of first ten picks. And he only plays about half the game because they keep everyone fresh. So the front 7 is just a murderous rope. Mike Griffin was Mike, we've had conversations in the past over whether things are shifting. I always like to get big picture with you because you cover you've covered so many different teams in the SEC and around college football. I'll be having fans predictably or overreacting. But Alabama to get back in this year has to be Georgia. I have to get to get to Atlanta. I want you to give us your thoughts on that program after a and M and how these two programs, Georgia and Alabama compare right now. I mean, first of all, I got to be the first to say you remember I championed Nick Saban for coach of the year last year. I mean, and you listen, he's a dominator. He's done a fantastic job. I mean, I got to just preface it by saying that. I mean, I covered Alabama football. I understand what it's all about. They're all in. There's no neutral sight games. Their home games are home games. But they lost 6 first round draft picks. And we're not just talking about pretty good players. We're talking about guys that are on your fantasy football team right now. We're talking about dominant players that are no longer there, and they're in a reload mode. And if we're going to talk all this SEC talk, which we do, how tough it is, how third is you just can't lose 6 first round picks and expect not to miss a beat. And listen, if Dan Mullen doesn't blow it, Florida should have beat him, and I said that. He absolutely blew it with the play calling everybody, you know, shouted me down, tried to remind big dancing. You know, it's such a genius, right? But then they lost to Kentucky and then the crickets came out in Florida. I'm not sure if they're back for this week's game yet or not, but the bandwagon really empty fast after they got beat by these Kentucky wildcats. Now they're back on it because they smell some med or on Tiger blood in the water. And I do think Florida will have a little momentum, but getting back to Bama. I am curious to see how they're going to come out of the tunnel. Mike leach has had a week off. Mississippi state took care of some pretty good teams already this year. Believe a and M, you know, some transitive problems. They lost they did lose dollars. Well, they did, but the point is this. They haven't beaten Nick Saban since his first year in Tuscaloosa. This is an Alabama team. But I think the teetering a little bit, teetering a little bit, Nick Saban trying to say they're not an elite program anymore. We'll find out Saturday night. I'm in a very much in a wait and see mode that the ceiling for Alabama is still very high, but as you said, let's see if they get. But let me narrow the focus. And we'll put in the bank that you think Nick Saban's a good coach. We all do. Thanks. But in terms of comparing programs right now and that's what we do. And we all know what Saban has done, Kirby smart is reminded all the time by the media of what he hasn't done. And I realized what is ahead, but how do you see these programs converging upon each other? Well, I think I know where you're going. I mean, Nick Saban turned 70 years old on Halloween, right? Trick or tweet. You know, senior citizen coach, you know, Kirby smart 46. And he just called Nick Saban, the senior citizen..
Daniels plays quarter as No. 2 Georgia dominates Vandy 62-0
"The number two Georgia Bulldogs went on the road and absolutely embarrassed the Vanderbilt Commodores on their home field sixty two to nothing leading up to the contest Georgia head coach Kirby smart preached his group the importance of proving their number two ranking you're gonna be leadership team you got to be elite all the time you can't be some of them that's not how the team's flight and orgasm brace that and I was proud of him junior quarterback JT Daniels was near perfect going nine of ten four hundred twenty nine yards and two scores and one senior Stetson Bennett got his chance under center he did much of the same going eleven of fifteen four hundred fifty one yards and a touchdown of his own if that wasn't enough the Bulldogs crossed the goal line five times on the ground in the decimation of vanity the Commodores were held to just seventy seven yards of total offense I'm Jerry takeover

"High fly ball belted left center and Ozzy puts him in front of that 7 30 home run in Bali sports is the difference is the Braves be Washington 8 to 5 and now lead the division by 2.5 Games? Same two teams play tonight at truest part that coach Kirby Smart report presented on WSB by Delta, Keep climbing Coach. Let's talk about you. ABS defense last season, They were seventh of the Devil and pass defense. They've got most of their guys back. Very impressive unit. Extremely impressive unit. Very experienced, talented, understand, uh, passing the ball and know how to affect the quarterback. Um, and you know that conference is his way better than people give him credit for. We've played teams at that conference. Many a time and the respect is not They're like it should be You. L l last year so very talented program. These two went head to head and it was like I was 24 20. It was like a really close game between those two and both of them went out and beat some big schools. They've got a great blend on offense as well. They can run it. They can throw out their quarterback Tyler Johnson, very accurate, very accurate. He knows how not to turn over the ball, you know, and I was saying earlier it When you've got a young quarterback, you can affect him in frustrating when you've got an older quarterback. That's not that he's not gonna make many mistakes. That's the Kirby Smart report brought to you by Delta, Proud to be the official airline of University of Georgia Athletics. I'm Jeff Dance Lor, the Georgia Bulldogs Sports network. When you fly Delta, it's not just about the big things. It's about.
DawgNation's Mike Griffith Makes Wild Accusations About the Potential of Georgia Football
"Going to read you a comment. That danny sheridan gave to us. I think it was about a week ago. Danny was picking the final four and he georgia to go to the final four this coming season and he said i would say the fourteen would be. George think georgia is loaded in. Georgia does not win this year. They are not going to win for a long time. And by that i mean. Get to the final four. Do you think this is the season as georgia is. Getting playoff are bus for kirby smart and his team. Yeah i've heard that the last few years in kirby keeps finding players in georgia keep finding ways to contend being a contender and actually doing. It are two different things. But what georgia's john paul. As they've stayed in the conversation or as curry says you gotta keep getting those at bats and when he finished in the top ten. Four straight years as georgia's don you recruit as well as kirby has you give yourself a chance and georgia's become known as a place that quarterbacks like to come now. The results have not always blossomed. Is much as people would like but you look at this roster now and jt daniels. Looks like one of the best quarterbacks in the country coming back. He's a former five-star they signed broadband. A grip he was a five star. Wants committed oklahoma. Now they've got gunner stockton committed a twenty twenty two five star. I mean my goodness talent is everywhere and now it's just a matter georgia finishing the job on football field. Which brings me one more comment and we don't we. Don't go out looking at other shows to bring you information. We take it from our own program. And i believe those two weeks ago booger mcfarland. We all know boogers credentials. He said this on on our show he said if you are a bulldog fan and you're going to sit there and stare honestly in the eye kirby has done less with more than maybe even mark. Rick how would you respond to that. Wow i guess. I'd say first of all you've got to get more right. You've got to have those recruiting classes in the top two or three. That's a good problem to apple and as far as doing more with less they're less with pernille they're getting ready. You can't if you can't finish the job though mike. That's i mean you're you're you're you're you're playing right in to what these guys are saying georgia out recruit anyone would maybe the exception of alabama But when are they going to finish the job. That's the question that georgia fans are asking. Yeah it's it's been tough when you win the sec. Three years in a row. And you lose to alabama in the sec championship. Game and twenty eight teeny get left out of the playoff for you. Come within one play of winning the national title twenty seventeen. I mean. i can't answer those questions for you. Know it's funny. You had ryan mcgee up there a few minutes ago talking about the late. Great dale earnhardt. He didn't win the daytona five hundred until his twentieth attempt. So those big game. Victories can be kind of a lucid. And i think that's happened for george. Remember paul kirby smart is only forty five years old. This is only year six for him. You look at how long it took guys. Like steve spurrier and nick sabin and they were six seven years into their careers before they got their national titles.
UGA face Cincinnati in Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl matchup
"The Chick fil a Peach Bowl, Cincinnati and Georgia. The bear Cats are trying to finish their first undefeated season in program history. CFTC you Boise State and Utah is the only non power five teams to complete perfect seasons. Since 2000 and four She stayed in Utah did it twice with the call of the Chick fil A Peach Bowl with Michael like junior Here's Dave O'Brien. Kevin. Thank you very much Great Tabby with us. Happy New Year, everybody. It's a real pleasure to be alongside Mike Golic Jr as we await the Chick fil A Peach Bowl kickoff between Cincinnati and Georgia, Cincinnati is Kevin mentioned. This may surprise many fans around the country undefeated at nine and no winning the American. I thought a conference and earning the right to play in a New Year's Day, six bowl. Up against Georgia. Bulldogs of Kirby Smart was 7 to 2 losses to then number two Alabama that was in Tuscaloosa and two number eight Florida 44 to 28. The Bulldogs are making their 24th. Consecutive bowl appearance. Like that is the longest active streak in America. Maybe down some starters, particularly on the defensive side, with five guys opting out, but it's a very deep team, and they expect to play a really good football team today. They

"You're listening to Georgia football over the dough to get at the 10 5 touchdown right down the scene now back to the Napa tailgate show. Welcome back to the Bulldogs Tailgate show and Happy New Year, Everybody. It's a bold A morning here in Atlanta, Georgia gets set to take on the Cincinnati Bear Cats here in the Peach Bowl Coach Kirby Smart is with us. Here to take a look at our opponent today. The Cincinnati bear cats and coach before we get to that 24 straight bowl games now that's the longest now the longest current streak in the nation as far as bowl games, and that's Certainly in this year. That's something to be proud of. It is, I was remember when I saw the bottom line on ESPN going across. The thing is about Virginia Tech, right? That ought to do not have the bowl and I knew then I was like We hang out and get to a boat and stay healthy and avoid Cove it we could move up into the top spot. Of course, they'll probably have an ass tricked by that one. But it's a great honor for our kids for our program. It's certainly certainly a lot nicer a lot more enjoyable to be in this situation than not. And George is certainly fortunate enough to do that. A zoo. We take a look at the bear cats today. Tell us a little bit about this team. This is a team to pay attention to, isn't it? Yes, really. A well coached football team in the thing I've learned is the more senior starters you have, the better you are, And we learned that with Texas and we learned that with Baylor and now we got nine defensive senior starters, which is pretty amazing is that in your opinion is that where this team is Best on defense? Well, I think they're pretty balanced. I think offensively defense. I don't think they're most experienced on defense, and they're very different on defense. There have a unique style of playing defense. When you get nine guys playing that unique style you don't make many missed aches, but they're talented across the board because of their quarterback, couple of all Americans now and in that secondary, tell us a little bit about their past defense and how you plan to attack that. Well, they they're very multiple. In their scheme. They've got guys. We weren't really along corners and get their hands on you. We'd like to press you. We've got to win some outside. They create An extra hat in the box from different locations. So they got it. Not a traditional SEC style defense where a lot of our defense is in our conference or similar. This is very unique. On bit's been hard to prepare for because they're creating 1/4 Russia with a guy plugging and moving and twisting, and that could be harmful. When you're a big physical football team, all the penetrator guys have but Gotta work going down. You gotta get me anticipate where they're going. Any final thoughts on this Cincinnati team. We didn't touch on the offense very much. Give us a quick synopsis. So on what they look like they're he's really smart. You know, he puts him in the right play a lot. I think they put a lot on him. Check wise, you could see he does a great job of getting them in the right play. You very rarely see them in a play that it's bad for them Meaning when somebody is doing this, they're doing this. Have an answer for whatever you do, and He's done a great job in the right place, and he's really good athlete. I think it's deceiving how fast he is because he has a really long legs, so he takes off running. I mean, you seem out running people all over the place. On and you know you started out running linebackers. The DBS and college football says a lot about your speed, and there's times replace that broken down, and he's turned those in tow. Big time games of big time plays, but just a tremendous password. Tremendous, tremendous athlete. When you talk about dual threat capabilities, he's got really good. People around their backs are really physical. Both get downhill. They complement each other really good players. You know, out at wide out, they've had emergence. Appears kids done a great job? He gets the ball vertical makes a lot of plays down. The field. You know the speed they have out there with a young and trick Tucker are really exceptional. I mean, when you look across the board the complete Group of wideouts, probably right there outside of Alabama is as good as we faced in terms of White House. They do a great job using their tight ends. You know, those two tight ends are huge, and they do a great job in the run game. Mixing their tight hands in to create run past conflicts for players on when you look at their tight ends, they do a tremendous job doing it, so he's you know, he's got a great group of guys there that he can use to pass the ball. All right, Georgia and Cincinnati. That's our look at the bear Cats coach. Thanks very much. We'll catch up with you in just a little bit. All right, that's coach Kirby Smart Honda back to you from or the Bulldogs tailgate show. All right. Thanks, Scott. Thank you, Coach. And please. Is this traffic.
No. 13 Georgia runs all over South Carolina in 45-16 victory
"James Cook ran for one hundred four yards on just six carries as part of number thirteen George's forty five sixteen assault on South Carolina three other Bulldogs had at least seventy seven yards on the ground as part of a three hundred and thirty two yard rushing attack head coach Kirby smart a lot of it has to do with the other team and what they do so we didn't call a lot of different runs we can go out and reinvent the wheel to run the ball we we we play a team that had three or four guys out here white ran thirteen times for eighty four yards and Kenny McIntosh had seventy nine yards on nine carries the Bulldogs led twenty one nothing after its first three possessions and before the game **** got a first down JT Daniels was ten of sixteen for one hundred thirty nine yards with two touchdowns and an interception for the Bulldogs I'm Dave Ferrie
Atlanta - Social media thrilled with JT Daniels performance, but ponders why Kirby Smart didn’t play him sooner
"From dog nation. Social media thrilled. Jt daniels performance. But ponders why kirby smart didn't play him. Let's welcome in the author of that article connor. Thank you for being with us. First of all. Let's talk about the good news. I the fact that he played well for those who missed the game and it was not exactly the feature game of the day How did he play. I thought he was fantastic. Four hundred yards four touchdowns as the first georgia quarterback to do that since twenty thirteen for a program that has had lingering questions about this going back even pass through the twenty nine thousand nine season to have a performance like this especially when they couldn't run the ball. At all this was the worst rushing performances. One thousand nine hundred eighty six which is a total yards. Jt daniels doesn't play the way he does it. I think it's pretty fair to say. The georgia probably loses to mississippi state team numbers. Not that highly thought of coming into saturday. We're talking to kinda raw and lane kiffin alluded to that as well. Which is just a shocking statement. Is it not that we we ended up getting to this point for those who have not followed the vagaries connor of jt daniels. Do we know what the hold up was with him. in terms of clarence yeah so. His dad came out and made some comments today. You can read them a dog nation where he wasn't one hundred percent ready to go and august and even september. We know he wasn't clear to play in. That arkansas game came out right before the auburn game. Second game of the season and said jt daniels physically clear to play. Football games and reality is yours. Second game of the year. We didn't end up seeing him until the seventh game. We know he took that knee. Brace off prior to the tennessee game and practices in warm ups. But for whatever reason we didn't see him it may have been an issue of how comfortable he was in his knee. And the level of mobility that kirby smart was looking for that's something he's referenced. Many times based off what we saw on saturday that mobility was there the ability to make plays in really. I think the biggest question at least fans people who follow the program asked me or how close was jt daniels to what we saw on saturday back on november seventh when georgia played florida because if daniels plays like he did on saturday against florida. There's a real chance of jordan. Finds a way to at least made that game closer and possibly even win. It just truly amazing to think about how different this georgia season is and while they're having a better season than most two losses of Effectively out and georgia was expecting to be in atlanta at the end of the year and not watching on television or playing in another game. Just give us your your your read on the energy that has now maybe been brought back to a program that was seemingly dead in the aftermath of the florida game. It was a it was a mighty big fall from grace. Do you think this is going. Yeah people's energized. Even i think if. Jt daniels keeps playing away. He does. It is gonna keep people interested in tuned in the rest of the season. 'cause you point out. This is georgia program. Where going eight and two this year in a burst in the peach bowl. That doesn't do it for them. There was a lot of negative energy around this program. Losing the florida so for daniels will come out. Look good look like a possible at least certainly this season and potentially even long term solution at the quarterback position there for georgia. I think that's huge place. While again against south carolina and finishes the season out strong. I do think that can build a lot of momentum towards that twenty twenty one season when a lot of these skill players. That played really well on saturday night. Also come back to the storage team.

"Voice of the Bulldogs. Scott Howard. Thanks for tuning in Bulldogs Live with Coach Kirby Smart in the second hour of our show tonight, Will you stay with us for a Honda and the Bulldogs All Stars Another hour Bulldog football, talking your chance to talk to a former Bulldogs, Eric Zeier and Kevin Butler on the show tonight. So that'll be from eight until nine o'clock. We hope you can stick around for that. Thanks to our friends from country financial there on the live stream tight and watching us do the show here at the facilities at the university and You got the indoor facility in the background and it Zaveri majestic spot here for our show tonight. It's time for our look ahead and it's brought to you by the governor's Office of Highway Safety the penalty for getting a d U I could cost up to $10,000. That's why the governor's Office of Highway Safety says. Drive sober, so you won't get pulled over and coach will ask you to look ahead to Mississippi State. Just a few quick bullet points of what you guys have been focusing on is you get ready for the maroon Bulldogs. Well, it's probably been the hardest prep in terms of what we do against our offense could on good is not relative to what we're gonna do against their offense. So you everybody we've played so far. You could say OK, Well, we run this. They run that we run this there on that very similar when you play these guys. It's not that way, and it's hard to simulate like our offense. Doesn't we can't go against them and say we're gonna play? Guess this kind of air raid, So we're playing some different groupings, different personnel groupings and things. So it's we have to practice those against the scouts. And then when we go against their offense, we still want to work on the fundamentals of playing the run striking blocks and playing what I consider to be normal SEC football So That part has been kind of different in strange. Andre is usually a tougher adjustment the following week to get back in the routine of plan or normal defenses. Does it look like from what you've seen from one game to the next four? A Mississippi state that they've had some difficulty adjusting to what? They're trying to implement their and start, Bill? Yeah, I don't. I don't know if it's there struggling to adjust or you're not expecting what teams are doing, or You know, it's it's he doesn't have his personnel in there. Everyone inherited Ah personnel group of players, so he's he's having toe work his way through that, and I'm sure he'll recruit to his offensive system and his defensive system so he can Trying to upgrade that area. All right. That's our look ahead with Coach Smart and back to our Merryweather and Thorpe asked the coach, You have questions. We have answers Merryweather and Tharp sponsoring our questions for coach Kirby Smart that you sent in via the hashtag, Ask coach Smart. I'll see Lauren in the Lord and Bogart. Georgia wants to know if you have any pets. Yes. S O a lutely. Um, can you remember their names? You know, sit here thinking, Holley. Best is our dog and we get to see every day barking going all over the place and then, uh, We keep it quiet Cat in the house, But I won't mention the cast night. His best younger dog, your dog. Okay, Dogs. One goes for about a year and a half. Now that we've had this So, uh, well, you got a lot of years ahead for their barking energy, then. Well, not a lot of bargains. So that's the good news. We haven't had having had to fight that off Senator trainer and learned that the bark well, it zit working. Yeah, so far, so I have to give out some names a little bit later on to other folks might want to take that same service, Bernie and Douglasville. Georgia wants to know are some of our younger guys gaining confidence as the season goes on. Yeah, I think some of them are the ones they're getting opportunity to play and grow up and may be used to play And I mean, we had some thrown into the fire, but I think Jemaine Burton Darnell, it seems like there. Most of the youngest players are on offense defensively. Allow those freshmen from last year or sophomores now and they're getting more and more confidence and Had to throw some guy's last week into the fire with major having to go out there and play some, and I think they realize how important it is. They practice Well, now, when they get in a game and see the speed of things, it certainly makes him take practice a lot more serious. Yeah, that's Ah, I imagine that could be an eye opener immediately. "Bulldogs Live with Coach Kirby Smart. Welcome to our Thursday night show. We appreciate you being with us tonight. Thanks for sending in your questions as well. For the coach. Hashtag Ask coach Smart You can send him in. Ah, via any of Georgia social media platform, the Facebook instagram. Twitter. Any of those hashtag ask, Coach Smart will use your questions are lethal. Try to get to your questions. We get a lot of it, but we'll present him to the coach and let him answer him like the one from Jacksonville as we get older. I'm sorry. Jackson from Valdosta, Georgia. I'm getting a week ahead of myself. Jackson has this question and this segment is brought to you by Merryweather in Tharp. Ask the coach. If you have questions. We have answers. Merryweather in Thorpe and Jackson in Valdosta coach wants to know what it was like shifting the bye week for you Did you have to change? A lot of things in your preparation really wasn't wasn't a lot for us as coaches we were, you know, one week away from the bike versus jumping right into the bayou, And once we got wind, it was happening. There was a lot we could do. How to control it. So he was probably most unfortunate for our kids or far away, guys because some of them had bought flights and made plans. And of course, you got to do that. You know, sometimes a month earlier in They weren't you know they were. They were given very little notice basically went from, you know, having a week off a week later to two days later having the week off, So just getting less time to plan for that weekend, another bye week. Question from MIA in Atlanta, and she wants to know where you able to relax any during the bye week. Yeah, I wasn't relaxed, something I've spent some time with family and watching games really enjoyed that. We get to Rome on Saturday and watch a lot of football games, which obviously my family's tied into that pretty pretty hard and it's always good when you can. Not have to worry about the outcome of a game and just enjoy the game toe. Watch it that just so rarely happens that it's nice to be able to do it. Which ones where you're watching last week. You don't remember now was whatever was eyes. Most of the SEC wants to be honest with the games. I was able to watch. Ah, let's say Brent in Athens. Ah, and we Hit on this a little bit earlier, but well fired away since prints into question in, have you? Ah, have we had a good week at practice? I certainly think so. I mean, I don't know many coaches that are going to tell you they've had a bad week of practice. It's one of those deals that Um, sometimes, you know, the purpose of practice is to develop your team and get better, and each player on your roster is at a different stage in their career. And it's much easier to motivate and Dr younger players to get better. And you have to find creative ways, Toe making important toe older players who sometimes think you know what I've done this. I've blocked this. I've done this. I've done this a million times. Why am I doing it again? You have to explain to him the importance of being able to do it until you can't get it wrong, And that's what we drive. We try to do these defined any. Ah, any attitude issues with guys coming in new or at this level? Do these guys that come in and arrive here? Know what's expected of them, and they know how hard the work is going to be to get where they want to go. You know, they don't arrive with that in mind. I think they arrived with some good habits or some bad habits in terms of practice. Not many kids come in with Haven't been through a structured, intense practice like we do and you, Musa Danny talked to him and you visit with him, said it was the biggest difference for you here than in high school. They will say the intensity of practice the the number of reps in practice. The speed of practice is usually the biggest difference, and we use our older players to help. Set that tone, a set that standard in the better older players and the better by and you have from the older players that they could sell that to the to the youth of the day. There's not a lot of Ah, lollygagging around going from period to period and, like there might be at that high school. I'm not sure what that looks like anymore. But if you bang bang, bang, I mean, you're you're limited on the amount of time you can have. So you're going from one thing to the next and everybody has to be on the same page. Exactly. You just don't have enough time You want to be efficient with your time. Stephen and Watkinsville wants to know is attempting to steer away from a lot off full contact and practice due to Ah Cove it not really. I mean, we defer to the experts and most of them talk about the safety of full contact. And you know, sitting next to someone is probably Well less safe to sit in a room for 30 to 45 minutes around teammates than it is to go outside and practice. You know, the key is that you don't have full contact with the same guy repeatedly, over and over and over, and we have those tracking devices that tells how much time is Spent between each player and how much time they spend close to each other. And when you look at it, it's not. It's not the practices that would put you at greater risk. It's the other things. Stephen, Thanks for your question. Hashtag, ask coach Smart to send in your questions via social media will use them.

William Poole was one of the guys in there, Nate McBride, they were forcing guarantee the bank middle It just swings it out of bounds on the near sideline down around the 20 yard line. Atlanta - Georgia Bulldogs beat Auburn Tigers 27-6
"Its oldest rival during a historic home opener. Here's Ws Peace J. Black. It wasn't 93 K but Bulldog Nation on overs off its habit. His defense dominates holding the Tigers to only 39 yards on the ground. You can stop people who run ball, you usually suffocate him. That's Kirby Smart. Who goes with Stetson Bennett, the former walk on making his first start a quarterback going for 2 48 touchdown being able to be company office around by such great players, Seaver cares. Jackson has a career day with 1 47, but knows there's more to come. We need score more touchdowns is next up Tennessee at home on Saturday afternoon.
Atlanta - Georgia QB JT Daniels cleared to return for Bulldogs ahead of key SEC matchup vs. Auburn
"Will transfer J. T. Daniels be the starting quarterback when number four Georgia meets number seven Auburn Saturday night in Athens. Daniel's towards a C L in the first game last year at Southern Cal and UTA is Doc's needed to see a lot before they let him get hit again. They measure his ability to move around on that knee compared to his other knee. That box is checked, but not Kirby Smarts. One. For starters, we're gonna be able to go out there and prove to us that Could do it in the game like situations. Steps admit it will also get a shot in practice, and it's not over for Dewan Math is either the one did not play as bad as it seemed to some winter will face another strong Auburn defense. Atlanta - New season, new George: Bulldogs’ top receiver takes new approach into 2020 season
"Offense a lean heavily on it. Our sophomore receiver. When the season starts Saturday. George Pickens only weakness is a freshman was himself and his anger. He certainly talented player, but you know, sometimes that could be a disease that George Kirby Smart finally saw. It all come together in a record breaking Sugar bowl from narrow until now, I've just been focusing on the team. So why wasn't that his focus before? I felt like I was, but it wasn't important enough to me as it was to other people. If everything clicks pickings could be an all American, But there's no clear cut second option to take the pressure off just yet. Kick off Saturdays of four here on the home of the dog's J.
Sam Pittman won't reveal starting QB until Kirby Smart does
"We cannot wait to talk to coach Sam Pippen next he is joining us live from Fayetteville and coach It's always nice to talk to you. Thanks for making the time and how's everything going Oh. It's my pleasure to be here. It's going great. We've we're into practice going to have a scrimmage tomorrow practice seven and it's been a lot of fun. Well I know there are a multitude of questions you may have the answer you may not be able to give us but Callers that we get from Arkansas. When are you going to share with US your starting quarterback? Whenever Kirby smart shares with US via starting quarterback. It's GonNa be a Georgia. That's a good. That's a good answer. You know I don't know. You know we we've. Had A couple guys running. In there with the ones and so what aside you know we're only six axes in. So we have a couple of scrimmage to go through and things of that nature. So. We certainly have an idea who who the top two guys are and we'll figure it out soon.
Georgia football closing in on another No. 1 recruiting class
"Of Georgia football coach Kirby smart hopes national signing day part two is as productive as last month's part one the biggest problem for the dogs today is if they can hold on to the commitments of two offense of linemen including the nation's best center and a five star tackle from my phone if that happens you GA should finish with a top class for the second time under Kirby smart George is also adding another four star running back and hoping to flip a big defensive back from old miss Mabel Georgia tech is trying to land a four star running back from Dalton with the Jack it's expected to bring in their best class in thirteen

"kirby smart" Discussed on The Paul Finebaum Show
"What's it like, well, the big thing is we have we got a team meeting coming up. And some walk-throughs we start spring practice. February the twenty six we gotta get we got new new offense. And a new defense we have to install but spring break is coming up. So we're looking forward to that wouldn't think there's I well, even if you weren't taking much off I would recommend telling anyone. That's right. So we're we're getting ready for spring ball, man. That's that's the next coach always so much fun to have you on this wishes and look forward to seeing you. Thanks, paul. Listening to Paul finebaum show podcast head football. Coach at the university of Georgia. Coach Kirby smart, another incredibly strong showing coach. Thank you very much for being with us and tell us all about how today went well really excited about the day. We were able to add to really good football players to our program, but more important than good football players. It was needed positions. You know, we signed an early signing class and one of the fallback. So the early classes, you don't know how many of your juniors are gonna come out early. So we lost some of players too early to wideouts back and tied in. So we were able to feel a tied in void in wide receiver board today with two guys we signed listen, you you're out there. Trying to to get the best players. You're not paying attention to how the media is is narrating specific stories, but but it is interesting that a couple of months ago, you went into the state of Alabama and got one of the top lineman, and maybe the top lineman today similar story at the wide rece. Receiver position out of Hoover realize. Maybe we're more fascinated by that than you are. But that is interesting nevertheless think it's unique year a year where we're clay. That unique player. He's really talented. He's got family ties to the state of Georgia. He's proximity located close to the state of Georgia. So it was a situation where he'd come over here lot. He's got family in and around Atlanta. So that was something that he felt strongly about and then George picking situation, I think he understands the need that we have that position. Having lost a lot of balls caught by tied in to really good watt outs that came out early not to mention seniors that relieving watt out. So he saw those positions as an opportunity to come in and be an impact player, certainly you've had enormous success Georgia with with an SEC championship appearance. This year you want it last year making it to the national championship game. But recruiting is really were most people have talked about in terms of your success. And I realize it's an old story to you. But, but I think it's interesting to people around the country, how you have been able to recruit at such a high level, you know, Paul I really feel like it's because we work really hard at it. I mean, we build relationships with these kids families from. Day one. I mean, we're well into the twenty twenty and twenty twenty one class the entire month of January we've spent trying to get close to twenty twenty kids. And I always think it's about relationships we dedicate a lot of our time to recruiting because it's the lifeblood of your program, and we've got a tremendous program to sell when you think about the marketability and playing on national TV games and three of the biggest last last five games in college football, less two years. We've been through those games. So that's really good exposure for a program. I would imagine probably didn't hurt to have two former Georgia play playing the Super Bowl, including Tony Sony Michelle with that huge touchdowns the end of the game. I think it helped having the Super Bowl in Atlanta altogether. Because with us having you know, most players in the Super Bowl between the two teams at the university of Georgia in Atlanta, which is our home base and all the different things that happened that week. It was certainly tremendous for us to be some homes during that time, I'm interested in how much a part of that is you're trying to get young high school players. To commit and sign, but but ultimately, they want to get an education, but they would also like to go to the next level with so many Georgia players in the NFL, especially the two we mentioned, and that's not not only the only two has that trickle down..
Mel Tucker introduced as Colorado Buffaloes head football coach
"Is some breaking news out of Boulder, Colorado Mel Tucker has officially been named as the Colorado head football coach he will leave the university of Georgia. I don't know whether or not he'll be in the bowl game or not. We'll find out soon, but my Bobo left a couple of years ago to go to Colorado state now Mel Tucker who worked with Kirby smart for Nick Sabin at the university of Alabama heading to Colorado to be the head football coach. So Georgia has an opening at the defensive coordinator's position.
Georgia Tech, Manti Rice And Kirby Smart discussed on Atlanta's Morning News
"After a big win over UMass fifth-ranked, Georgia preps for Saturday's game against Georgia Tech. Both teams have won four in a row, the jackets triple option offense is a fishing as it's been all season, more and more teams. They play less and less teams won't actually go out there and tackle UTA coach Kirby smart could be without its top tackler linebacker manti rice injured his foot before the game. Sure. What it is. But he's unable to play. And hopefully getting back feel like we'll be is always this, man. That's what we rotate gas a linebacker nitrous.
