"In July of 1986, Keith sits in the back of a small Indian car that's parked on a side street in Bombay. Terry Sheldon and another man are crammed into the back with him. A fourth sits in the passenger seat. They've told their driver to take a walk. It's stifling inside the car, but they don't dare open the windows for fear of being overheard. They've all played a part in the plot to kill Steve Bryant, and they've met to discuss what to say if they're indicted. Even if the air conditioning was on, they'd still be sweating. Keith insists that Krishna would guide and protect them, but this sounds more like denial than faith. Meanwhile, the movement is continuing to fracture. Some of Keith's advisers abruptly leave new vrindavan, the head of Los Angeles book trust resigns after he's caught having an affair with a teenage girl. Guru in Australia is housed for having an affair with a teenage boy. Back in West Virginia, Randall gorby is recovering from his burns. The investigation into his house exploding revealed that someone unscrewed a valve, allowing gas to fill the house, but the police haven't been able to identify a suspect. After 7 weeks in the hospital, corby's released, but he doesn't visit friends or go back and rebuild his house. He disappears without a trace. The feds have put him into the witness protection program. When Keith returns to new vrindavan, he uses temple funds to hire a lawyer for his case, but leaves here to defend for himself. Tear has to make do with the public defender, but just as westfall suspected, tear to reject a plea bargain. It looks like he'll carry his secret to the grave and Keith will remain free. By September, the communist decimated. So many devotees have left, the Keith has to lay off the entire staff. The printing press that used to crank out counterfeit stickers and baseball caps to sell at ball games and concerts sits idle. And with no one left to run the dairy and all incoming funds going to Keith's legal defense, new vrindavan sacred cows begin to starve. Then, in November, tragedy strikes. Steve Bryant's youngest son drowns in a pond on the commune. It appears to be an accident, but Keith blamed Steve. He issues a statement, saying it happened because Steve's family has bad karma. But then, Keith's own bad karma catches up to him. A grand jury convenes to investigate the connection between Keith and Steve Bryant's death. On December 5th, 1986, deputy westfall sits in the county courthouse in kingwood West Virginia, nervously waiting for the jury to return a verdict in tear to his trial for the murder of chuck saint Denis. He surprised the courtrooms only half full for what he considers one of the biggest cases of his career. Tear sits with his public defender, staring at his hands. Prosecutor Tom white looks worried. Westfall can't stand him. He's the same guy who refused to file charges when westfall brought him the case three years ago. He didn't want to take the case this time either. He's afraid he'll lose, and he won't be reelected. But westfall is worried, too. Steve's widow Deborah and doctor Nick testified and they seemed credible. Randall gorby even came out of witness protection to take the stand. But tear to his accomplice, Dan Reed refused to testify, even when he was offered a plea deal, and chuck's body has never been found. The jury could go either way. Westfall holds his breath as the jury files in. They've only been deliberating for four hours and that's not.

It takes fifteen minutes for the best people to finish. But let's say you know sometimes Especially the swimming events. They have people from all over the world and they got people that are like woj behind the elite swimmers. Do they let them finish league or just get out of the water. "So what we wanna do is one of the key. Ingredients that favor up. That i run into a little bit issue with some of my friends that i sit on council with is the prohibition of local government officials to mail ballots mail ballots unsolicited for the mail in ballot ballot application process. I don't think that works. Well when i go to the airport given id when i go to a bar and have a drink i give an id so why you shouldn't you have to show identification for the most precious gift that we've been given and that is the right to vote to make sure that my vote only counts one once in your vote only counts once so you know it's a it's a tough subject you're right. We don't take that up in the city. But i do have personal opinions on senate bill house bill three and the election integrity process that i think we need to strengthen pushback gently on the about the the mail in ballot the matter because what they were seeking to do last fall and and what i guess proposed bills would ban is the idea of sending out applications for mail in balloting. You can out an application senate in that doesn't mean that application is approved And so there's nothing in there that that that would run afoul of the idea of proof that you're eligible voter right. I mean what. We're looking at and senate bill one is. The prohibition of local government officials not individuals of local government officials to mail unsolicited mail in ballot applications. So that's what we're trying to get rid of. If i'm one of mail in ballot and i'm one vote that way. I have the right to request one. But i don't want someone request in a mail in ballot for me. I want to use that process. And that's where. I had a little bit of a problem with it. Because this bill prohibits local government officials from neyland the unsolicited dallas. If you don't mind and we're running a little short on time here. But one more thing i wanted to get to Even have an update on tomorrow's show on some transportation developments from our own gail to lauder. And one of the things. I wanna dig into tomorrow is what's happening with the grand parkway and the next phase which is on the east side it's near communities east and a little north and south east of the kingwood area and i'm just curious what you're hearing from residents about it and whether there are any short term impacts from construction for nearby businesses or long-term hopes from from residents about about benefits from having ninety-nine built out more there. Yeah i think you know for us. We're looking at it at the grand parkway stops right at fifty nine sixty nine in In right above north of kingwood and.

"Good morning. Good morning good to be here. You held a public meeting about a week. And a half ago in kingwood to offer updates on a pair of flood mitigation projects and i thought maybe we could start there. Can you catch us up on. What's happening with efforts to dredge the santa river and and also plans to expand the the lake. Houston dam's spillway sure. That meeting was on thursday. July eight we had in kingwood and we went basically over four subjects The ongoing dredging operations that we have not only in the sanjay santo ever but in lake houston Where we are with the construction of additional gates onto the existing lake houston spillway dam and then we went through the north park expansion project where we're moving from four lanes to six lanes and also gave an update on some tributaries within the king area. That take all the water from montgomery county that we're receiving from the north of us and send it into lake houston and then eventually to the gulf of mexico so as far as a dredging is concerned. It's amazing that we spent over three hundred million dollars on dredging operations and that is removing the san through a lot of federal money and through some local matches that we receive from hurricane. Harvey my opinion. The most important project is as we look north. This has to be a systematic approach. Receive water from the same juice into river into lake houston and what hurt us on august. Twenty seven two thousand seventeen during harvey was our spillway dam. Didn't have the ability to proactively. Release water that was coming our way so at backed up and the only way spillway dam works is water goes on top of eventually falls and hits to the goal so with this dam project. We're going to build somewhere between eight and ten additional gates onto the existing lake houston spillway dam structure. That way we have the ability to move water. Rapidly for instance. Today we can only release one foot of water. Every twenty four hours with the new gates will be able to release minimum of four feet of water that every twenty four hour period so it gives us a little bit of an opportunity where we see rain coming and we don't anticipate about a rainfall to react In in move relatively quickly. What are you hearing from residents In response to the state of that project and the importance of it of course you hear a lot of negative and that is we need it today because we have three more hurricane seasons to get through including the one..

But they say, you know, you can spot things where you go in, there's a wall there, right? You walk in you can't see in the back, but at the time I was like doing non-profit in getting donors. So I'd pop in. And how would you want to donate to this? Or that? I knew something was wrong? I would seem in there at lunch time and at the time, I thought I didn't even know what to do about it off. I would start sharing things with friends but so often you do start feeling isolated because it's a very dark subject, it is. And a lot of times as mom's, we just would rather off our parents, you know, not deal with it. And like you said think well that's not going to happen to my child. It's very interesting. What you said, you're with their phones. It's like you're giving so many people access that you never would let them be around, right? And so one, educate yourself to everyone has a role find out what you can do. The very least you can tell other people tell your children, I meet more and more survivors to work that we.

"They are taking them out to eat. Do you need as as a community? We need to be able to understand what we're seeing because Each human trafficking, victim deserves the right to be seen and offered assistance. And then Empower, I think overall we, we need to gain power, not just those that are working directly with youth. But every company, every corporation, every aspect of our community needs to be empowered to join the fight off. So was Project protect our children. We have several programs, we have several trainings and we are constantly working to educate them, engage educate and Empower our mission is prevention. We want to stop child sex trafficking exploitation and abuse before it begins. So we have a multitude of programs and and trainings available so I'm going to tell you if you don't mind about one that I'm excited about especially for the woodlands area, we launched our youth action board last year in 2020 and Humble ISD cuz I'm from Kingwood even a mixed covid-19, 6 youth, apply and and say they wanted to be part of of the fight, they want to be part of the solution. So the, the the the you section board was conceptualized because we wanted to give youth the opportunity to join in the fight. I've, I've worked with, like I said, I have three children and I've worked in in so many different Arenas with youth. And, and the one thing I know is that, if you give them the opportunity, if they feel called to something, what they can do is beyond your wildest. Imagination. Right? So we conceptualize the news action board to do. Just that what we said was we will give you all of the resources, all of the tools off. If you feel called to the fight, we want to give you the platform that you need to bring human trafficking awareness to your peers to your school Educators. Enter your community and so and off last January are six youth action board members did just that. So, the the thought process behind the youth action board is we give them the support. It's student-driven. So they collectively and collaboratively come together and they discuss different solutions. Different event ideas. Different activities to bring human trafficking awareness. Not just on their school campus, but primarily but also in the community,.

I use night for false But anyway, I myself might go on is great. Except I put down about 50 square feet of solid along the fence line day before we got all those heavy rains. Couple weeks ago. I just recently and in Kingwood, we got probably a tin. It's rained one day. And so my question is, and it's in that side is not looking as good as my yard right now. It's not gonna let me let me set that aside for a second, okay? Okay is long as there's green in there at all. You're gonna be fine, all right, but that excessive amount of rain will cause all kinds of problems on newly laid turf. It's not going to make it look good for a while. We're gonna have to get to some kind of normalcy on the weather for this to really take hold and just kind of set up shop the way it's supposed to it. Thanks setting up shop the way it's supposed to right now. Okay, Well, I know I'm not used Medina. Sorrow activation. You don't need to use Medina just yet. Until we start getting to where we're not having arranged the Medina is there to moisten that mud that the grass comes in? If you were to do anything, liquid instead, I'd make you go get Medina has to grow for lawns. Okay? I just said it was the bio matrix things from like micro life. A liquid 712 or, you know, the the Medina has to go for launch is a 12 48. We're gonna put that in. Like a pump up sprayer. A couple ounces per gallon water so we can green things up, but still get that soul activator type thing. I don't want just soil activator on newly Les. I'm glad you asked this question. A really because points out a problem that some people are maybe overwatering further overwatering newly pieces Assad based on my recommendations from the past, however many gazillion years I've always recommended soul activator on newly laid sod, but not when we're getting 10 inches of rain in a week. Okay? We go. We got rain this week coming. I mean, how do you know? I mean, if I were you, I'd get to liking Wood Garden Center, And I hope I see now I know you're in Kingwood. So I put out muscles. Got rid of him. He did not like those because it makes you just for clarity's sake. We weren't talking about how to prevent this one. She has one. She knows she needs to get rid of it. We were talking about how to kill it, basically, But, yeah, mothballs have been known to be, But there's some just so you know, and you could do the research yourself on this If you wanted to, Uh, there are A couple of negative aspects to putting loft balls out. With small Children, small animals, things like that. But yeah, the naphthalene is a smell preventative, But that doesn't stop the armadillo from digging in the yard. For penance, sex. I put it out. I left there for weeks. And he was really a pest. So put that stuff. I'm not believing a word You say you're you're not from Texas. I don't believe anything. You said no contact, but I've lived here very long time. Kanye 1972 tonight. And I used to listen to Mr Once before you, Mr Zach. Yes, And I have his book and everything but the other thing I want to say, and I didn't tell the guy but the beginning One of the best things is my crew life. Hugh mates. I used you mates. It's so easy. You spray it on and it is so good. We're big fans of Hugh Mates any any type of human human casted products where you didn't answer my question. Where you from? Originally Originally, I was because I was born in Uganda and Kampala. You canda. My parents were farmers are not Kilimanjaro and I came to the United States in 1960. Then I went around the world all of the place blah, blah, blah and went through wars and revolutions. And then I came here. In 1972, and I've been here ever since. So where's the accent? What's the accent? It Z British colonial British? Of course that was Gary. Don't get British from Mount Kilimanjaro, Farmland, My parents. My parents were very British. My grand parents were engineers. They went to Africa as engineers worked on the railroad and built bridges and some wonderful but it made my father and my uncle opened farms on Kilimanjaro and we farmed and crop twice a year. I know an awful lot about agriculture. And anyway that I'm here. I want to hear from you in the future. Just cause we love listening to your accent. Okay? Oh, yes. Okay. Thank you very much. You're welcome very much. Thanks for the weighing in on that, too. Yeah, I will. When we do track armadillo control will throw in things like that from time to time. Al Missouri City. Good morning. "It in you in from the rain to the cold. Good job, Young age you goodbye. I don't from the could've would've should've department from the law firm of Could've would've should've just hit me. We were talking. The last film. He's just moving into the king Would area humble Kingwood area get to know Warren Southern Gardens and get to know the King would Garden Center, sir. They're gonna have all the products I talk about. I recommend they got great staff members there that can answer questions for you. King would garden centers located on Stone Hollow it Chestnut Ridge. It's on the street that's behind the building that used to be Stein Mart. Everybody remembers were Stein Mart was King would drive and Chestnut Ridge. The street behind that is called Stone Hollow. And then Warren Southern Gardens is at 16 75 North Park. They carry the fruit trees we were talking about earlier. But all those soils all those amendments, everything hasn't do our lawn fertilization schedule. They have war in southern gardens dot com and Kingwood Garden center. Com. Marty Fairfield. What's up? Morning, Randy. Um, I am finally going to put my fruit trees into the ground this year, and I think part of it is because my backyard has gotten so. Ravaged by weeds, and just I don't know being here 20 years I haven't done Anything but your schedule and Okay. Question. What's the question? My question is if I put him in the ground How do I cover him? Most of the fruit trees. You have a copy of Texas tough gardening. I didn't know that's the previous book, okay? Read through those Citrus, especially the Citrus. The most of these Citrus that are talked about in there can handle what's gonna happen tonight. Don't you don't hear me throwing a panic whistle out about the Citrus trees. If they're in containers might as well move him into a garage. But if they're in the ground, just drape it with a frost cloth or, ah, cover of some kind of that when it's raining like this to another reason why frost covers and frost blankets are so important because just putting sheets on top of that, just gonna get wet. Well, my did you kids, anybody? I mean, you're you're talking about future. Don't let today's through our to tonight's freeze affect you right now. I'm talking about next year. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna talk to Beverly to obligate and see. What she recommends that I want some trees like orange trees. And you kids is going on here. I got a satsuma. I'm not even to cover tonight because it can handle 29 degrees. Okay, see my point. Yeah, Okay. And then who could do my kill till Dylan saw Because I'm doing I'm gonna do my home. That is a total do it yourself operation Unless you live in certain areas of the only people that I know in come close that maybe Green pro. I don't have any certain lawn service that does that anymore. So it is truly it was designed for do it yourself. It can be done by yourself. It saves you a lot of money when you do it by yourself. Okay. All right. Thanks, Randy. You bet. I did it by myself. When I'm that very first house I lived in in Fairfield. Marty, I didn't kill till feel inside on on my own. I'm not that young. Re. I'm not thinking. That was what 20 e some odd years ago. Godly. All right, let's go next to Sonny and humble. I believe no, that was Marty's hit the wrong button there, Sonny. Humble. Good morning. Good morning cereal, arguing. I'm good. What's up? I got a couple of questions personal. It is. I have more industry moving to the state last year, so we just plan it. First the news. I was marrying that tree that about it be tall. On and papaya trees that I got it from Hawaii. How can I vote managed or wanted to cover those up? Um Don't know enough about the meringue A tree. This is Maria Tree for me is Something fairly new that we've talked about. I know a lot of people are trying to grow for its medicinal purposes. You are gonna have protect the papaya if it all possible and if that means cutting it in size. If you do not protect that one of the other things I would. If it's a green green trunk, I would wrap it with something, whether it's a thick blanket or some towels, a carpet remnant burlap bags. Anything that's got a green trunk on it. You definitely need to protect that trunk tonight as I'm looking something up. Yeah. Looks like the marina tree. The lowest you can survive is 30 degrees And so that tells me that it probably needs to be protected tonight as well. About it. Okay? I have a lot of palm trees that the leaves fall off and he just annoying and he grows like crazy. I just listened to yesterday and some of the three peat ones. I did cut it down. Like you mentioned that. You know, the priest will kill it. But what do I do about this Teach? Just going like crazy all over my garden You sent in pictures on this. No, sir, You mentioned yesterday that any plan that you want to kill you wanna kind of cut it off. Cut it down to the ground, Leave a little a few inches of stuff and let the freeze pull it in. I did those for some of the three peaks and truth, it's one but I like a lot of seeds. They're just pop off like crazy is a little black clothes or how do I remove those? Dad, That's not something I'm going to be able to answer for you. The seeds if it's the if it's a Sago Palm I think so. Yeah, this when you cut it back, you're not gonna have any seeds anymore. Am I missing something or are you talking about the seeds have fallen already. See those off already. Okay? You need gather those up anyway, because they're they're threat to dogs and pets. They're poisonous, big time, So just gather him up as best you can when you see him pop up. Have a couple inches of growth off of one of those seeds. Just pull it out. It pops out of ground really easily get rid of it. Got it. Little harvesting is gonna be in your future. I don't know if we've got enough time. But let's give it a try. Anyway. Let's go to Kenneth and Cyprus. And my apologies to David and Hitchcock with David. If you'll hang tight, you'll be the first call up next hour. Kenneth Cyprus. What's up? Hi, Randy. I have a mango tree in my bank started gently. Brown spent there not two years. The first year. I thought it completely died, and I think he was trying to get punched through the clay. Um And then this year it went from You know, six inches afterthought it diet, the 6 ft. It's wondering what's the best way to cover it tonight Or that needs to be covered in the Olympia pride. Mingo tree? I don't know if you heard a little phrase a little catchphrase I mentioned a second ago. If the trunk is very green or very Do you know if the trunk is green or Barkey? Um, it's just barking up to probably 2 ft. And most of the rest of it is green and I have I have the bottom portion wrapped with some of that, like brief ical insulation. I said I would do what I could to protect it because it is still green up top, and that's the part that's gonna be the very susceptible to this freeze tonight. If you can drape it with Blanket and then put plastic on top of that, so that it doesn't get wet. That's one way. If you have frost blanket, you can build a little structure around it and maybe provide a heat source with the lamp in there. Okay, it's hard to pull a tarp on its own would go on top of a blanket or a frost cover. We don't put plastic on top.
