"About Damian Lillard? The All Star Guard, had 51 points and seven assists. Help Portland defeat Philly 1 24 to 1 21 Portland's now just 1/2 game back. Of the eighth seed in the Western Conference. And unless if your son's fan of the sons they got a victory today, they're still undefeated inside the bubble or unless if your grizzly span or you still give this the Spurs a puncher's chance. Paypal, Banks and Real Life Infrastructure Inversion
"When the hit reactions were dramatic CEO of Wyoming based Avantis Bank and passed on the showcase on long tweeted game on USOC sees announcement that it's following Wyoming allowing national banks to custody digital assets is great news for Crypto long-overdue, and hopefully we'll help the US regain ground. It lost to other developed world countries by dilly dallying for so long winters, equal customers and crypto venture capitalists. This will spur emanate boom as us. Banks acquired digital asset custodians, and that was only the first two of her twenty four tweet storm on the topic link in the show notes for those who missed it. In other parts legal mind mark, Coyne hoarder, and passed on the show Preston Burn tweeted I've never been more bullish on crypto today crypto lending, and saving maybe how the payment of interest becomes thing. Again, thanks are desperate for yield the faster they move the more market share there will obtain lawyers and bankers are definitely excited. But why does this matter and what is it mean? Jonathan let's start with you today. Well looking at it from my perspective of someone who's tried to do startups in the for some time, the largest filter that is a had versus half not versus based on the technical or Business Acumen. Or Merit of your company is to do with getting a bank account and keeping a bank account and being able to even have customers in every state I mean the whole point about the bit license was the fact that banks were refusing to service customers of people running crypto startups. So what this does if? The executions being the statement says it is is it means that we're going to enter an age where crypto startup can actually have a bank account in America and actually be serviced and not just be a crock in or a Gemini or Aucoin base, but actually be three people you know asking for bank services. So you know the government tends to break your legs and then ask you to thank it when it gives you a crunch and it's really glad to see that at least now, they're giving entrepreneurs a crutch. Because like spin broken for a very long time hang on. I'm a bit confused here because this regulation is about freeing up the ability of banks to directly custody Crypto, and at least what you're saying seems to be more about whether banks are allowed to extend. Fiat. King Services to crypto companies why do you think the two are related one of the purposes? As to why money transmitter licences became such a big deal for crypto services is that the act of transmitting your token your value instrument is itself currency or is considered a value transfer, and so banks would onboard in dollar terms the ability for people to get crypto. But if you actually wanted to engage in crypto related services with Crypto you yourself had to. Take. That on, get a custodial and become a money services business because there weren't any financial service providers that would do that for you, and so there are a lot of projects that I know of that have lodged. That are in existence that can't even deliver the tokens to their system to people because they're waiting for money transmitter licences because the act of. Giving it to their customers would be considered money transmission, and so I think that we become so blinded to think that banking means crypto banking for crypto means the dirty Fiat side of it and not the awesome crypto side of it and a lot of the crypto related activities now can be done natively by a bank, which means that as a small startup. Become a bank. I don't have to become a crack in order to be able to do trivial thing I wanted to do with bitcoin or a colored coins. So I, just want echo that on the one side our experience on the show with trying to have a bank account. Well, we've actually been d platform because the word bitcoin is in the name right and that was for a while fairly controversial, and then on the other side of things, the work that I did with token Lee we often found ourselves without the ability to have a credit card processor because even the. Idea of touching tokens that were non speculative in nature that did not have prices that could appreciate. Well, that was still something that was on the other side of we know what we're talking about right and so you had banks that were just wildly uncomfortable with this and even the high risk tolerant ones you know the ones that specialize in dealing with really kinda sketchy applications, even those oftentimes wouldn't deal with noncontroversial uses of. Tokens and sort of anyway. So just the clarity that. So long as a company is following, the law banks can interact with them that I think is a pretty major statement and a major change from the way the banks have at least behave to this point. We'll see if they actually do anything differently with it but I think again, we're going to talk a little bit later about kind of the pay pal announcement and Sort of this shift that we've gone through where Crypto was on the one hand kind of in the very early days, people would adopted or companies would adopt it and get kind of an earned press boost, and then that went away for a while as things got boring. Now we're kind of on the entire other side of that curve, but we're going to have that conversation for just a little

Former Education Secretary John King on the Trump power transition
"10th Secretary of Education is our special guest. John. I want to pick up where you just left off. Because I think it's important Transitions are important American government of the Trump administration transition for a lot of reasons, some of which I outlined in my book, Mr Trump's Wild Ride was uneven to say the best to say that it's best most charitable Because of decisions. People inside that transition made people who got thrown out of that transition process. It was very, very uneven, but the meeting's nevertheless occurred between the outgoing administration and the incoming administration. Give us more context and specificity about this conversation with the incoming Trump administration about a pandemic. Well, the idea Wass and this is something that the Bush administration did with the company Obama administration and president aggressive effort to do that's right. That's right, because Continuity of government is important and you want to make sure the incoming administration is prepared to deal with any eventuality. And President Obama was very clear from the very from the day after the election that we were going to make sure to have a smooth transition as possible. And we began preparing for that even before the election, And then once the election happened are our task was to have a very smooth finish. Unfortunately, The Trump Administration was slow to assemble their transition teams there was to get people to the agencies. This meeting of the Joint Cabinet meeting happened just a few days before they're not gracious, And the idea was at that point to make sure that, uh, Cabinet members were briefing each other on how to deal with these potential crises. And what some of the issues are that Come on. We covered a wide range of subjects is multiple hours. We're sitting in pairs each with our cabinet counterpart. And one of the topics of discussion Wass. How do you deal with the pandemic and What implications would've pandemic have or every agency And during that time secretary of the boss and I talked about how he dealt with colon and each one and wine and some of the implications for schools of a pandemic. But the idea Wass that they would be ready to put those plans into action if they were faced with These kinds of disasters and in fact, the discussion was about a respiratory illness that that was a pandemic that started overseas and how you prepare for that, and we talked about The urgency of getting personal protective equipment, the urgency of getting testing and place the need tohave queer science based communication with the public. They just didn't do those things. Any sense why it's hard to get inside of Ah, heads of the current interest and will observe that a large share of the people who are in that meeting are no longer in the street. All right, But you could also get a sense of a meeting like that, whether or not people are interested or following or devoted to that particular. Task. Look, it didn't it didn't feel Then there was a ton of urgency in the room about these issues. But this look, ultimately the president was responsible. And AH term president set a tone from the very beginning that was dismissive of the pandemic. You know, he said, Oh, this is just going to go away. They're very few cases. It's all under control. And missed a crucial period of time. To get in place the structures necessary for personal protective equipment, prevent the laters for testing and contact tracing system. But the tragedy is Even after those mistakes and seeing the cost in human lives, they still aren't addressing those fundamental issues were still behind. Virtually all of our international appears in dealing with this and that

The story that you're telling through fabric is really exciting. I think when we think about these different things that we wear today, we're focusing in on ribbon shirts, but there's a lot that connects when we think about what goes into our identity, and often what we put on as clothing is a part of that, and so Darla are totally taken into that arena of expressing in celebrating identity and for you to be able to do this with the fabric, how does that? Make you feel? It makes me feel It makes me feel really good to see the end result in fact I'm. I kind of feel like. I'm a separate person, then my skills. Ethnic Studies: Born in the Bay Area From History's Biggest Student Strike
"Legislation earlier this summer that would require all incoming freshman at Cal State universities to taken ethnic studies class listener. Michael Variety asked our Bay curious team this question I've heard that there was actually a revolution in the Bay Area for an ethnic studies field. Is this true? And how did it happen? The short answer. Yes, it's true. Reporter assault A sonnet. Poor tells us how it went down during the longest student strike in US history. It was November of 1968. The US was 13 years into the Vietnam War. American soldiers hiking their way through the sweaty jungles of South Vietnam, searching for enemy Martin Luther King had been assassinated earlier that year, and the Black Panther Party demanded systemic change for black communities plagued by poverty and police brutality. That's what black students at San Francisco State wanted to bury. Proves to be a member ofthe last. This is Nesbitt Crutchfield. He started studying at San Francisco State in 1967 and soon joined the black student union. It was the very 1st 1 in the country. It was very clear to me that Black soon Union representative. Very progressive. Among black spoons at state among black students in the very but just a small percentage of black students went to SF State admission rates for minority students had dwindled down to just 4%. Even those 70% of students in the SF Unified School District for from minority backgrounds is a black person you expected for all intensive purposes. To be one of the very few black people in whatever classroom laboratory auditorium. The U. N was overwhelmingly white. Amidst that whiteness black students were hungry to study their own history. The black student union had been pushing the university to create a black studies department for nearly three years. But administrators resisted the idea. was an era of young people asking questions and want to transform their communities. Jason Ferreira is a professor in the Department of Race and Resistance at San Francisco State College of ethnic studies. And that impulse that That hunger to transform one's communities is actually what forms the basis of ethnic studies. It's around this time that Penny no. Okatsu was grappling with her own questions about race and identity. We want Asian Americans, then we were Orientals. An Oriental is a term that was imposed on us by the largest society, so starting to use the term Asian American was a way of taking back er. Our own destiny. Henny became a member of a student organization called the Asian American Political Alliance. It was just one of many ethnic student organizations popping up on campus and an early fall of 1968. These organizations banded together in formed a coalition, the Third World Liberation Front. And at that particular time, third world referred to the Non Aligned Countries are cultures in Asia, Africa and Latin America. It was synonymous with how we might use people of color today. English professor and Black Panther. George Murray was one of San Francisco state's most influential anti Vietnam organizers. Students loved Murray, but his outspoken politics didn't sit well with us of state administrators. The war in Vietnam is racist. That is the law that crackers like Johnson are using black soldiers and poor white soldiers of Mexican soldiers as dupes and fools to fight against people of color. In Vietnam. The board of trustees fired Murray over Comment like this one on November 1st 1968 5 days later, the black student union and the Third World Liberation Front joined together and went on strength in aspic, Crutchfield says Despite coming from different backgrounds, the strikers had a clear goal. I wanted to find out and be educated about ourselves, and we could not get that the nobody getting educated Initially, strikers did things like cherry bombs in toilets and check out tons of books at once in order to overwhelm the school's library system, But almost immediately, administrators invited police on campus. Jason Ferreira says they swarmed the school armed with five foot batons. Students responded by throwing rocks and cursing out the police. Police came down heavy hard, and they just began cracking skulls Strikers carried on anyway. Penny No. Okatsu was protesting on January 23rd 1969. In what many call the mass bust. Two lines of police came up and basically surrounded the over 500 people who were there for the rally and tracked all of the individuals who are part with that net police charged at students, Penny says it was one of the bloodiest and most frightening days of the entire strike. That was a military movement, literally a practice orchestrated military movement. Hundreds were arrested. Virtually all of the individuals arrested head Tio spend some jail time. There are real consequences to having participated in that event. It's up two more months. But eventually in March, administrators and strikers negotiated a deal after five months of protesting the school agreed to many striker demands. They promised to accept virtually all non white applicants for fall of 1969 and they agreed to establish a college of ethnic studies, the first in the country. Class is about communities of color. Ethnic studies is a way of embracing all of the cultures that make up not just this country, but with the world. And if we don't understand each other, how we're going to get along. But I I, I, put it through three or four drafts, and then my teacher was like, yeah, that's what I'm talking about it. That's that's how you do it, and so you learn from those particular situations. How is your your balance of confidence with your writing even though it needed Some revision is standing there in reading in front of your your classmates, the confidence. Could did you have a balanced with that because personally I remember my first year university might first communications class in my knees were shaking and I was scared forty people in the class I looked at my communication Susan. Shut up. Even. Though I had a paper here in front of me. How was your balance with that? Probably. Mighty pen. Yeah, exactly you know naked in front of the class. Yeah well, that's that's exactly I. I. Don't know if if my voice was shaking, my knees were knocking at that point I? Do Remember one of the things I was trying to make sound. Funny. Did Not come off as funny. and there is just silence and it was that the that feeling in the pit of your stomach in front of your, you know this is an advanced English class eleventh grade and. I was like Oh man I blew it. You know from that point on he's going to. And finishes. Waiting for you to be over. And there's been plenty of those moments too. Yeah exactly especially following the other guy who? It was he was I. think he ended up being the Valedictorian and just he just knew what he was doing at an early age You know. There wasn't any ever like any jealousy of my my half. I was just always like man he's so much better. But that takes humility right like just to say no. That guy's talented. Suppose just recognizing it. Yeah. Recognizing I mean acknowledged that wow, that guy's talented I have some ways to go. Yeah and Also. Just being a nice person but also I think. It wasn't a secret how good he was everybody knew that because he was he was killing across all of the subjects and it was just one of those things I have no idea where this guy came from it he's amazing. and I think he had transferred over freshman year so we didn't know. Nobody knew who why non horses exactly. Wow. You're awesome in everybody's Askar you. Just for you just to realize, okay, you gotta work on it a little bit more and then you'll succeed. Yeah that's why people like that exist. It's it's. A It's what gives you drive sometimes I. I gotta hit that level. So after university, what was your? What was your mission? I was a drummer and punk rock bands and we were touring up and down the east coast playing basements in bars and small clubs, and we recorded a whole bunch of albums and that was what we were trying to do. I did that for about three and a half four years? Yeah. Yeah Absolutely yeah. It in me see in. One of the band's had a few in there even though I did not play guitar if I got a base and I kind of plunked around and figure out what the notes were and showed it to the guys who knew better than me and we fashion. A song out of that, I could I could yell scream. Or sorry y'all sing. With some sort of melody in there, some sort of harmony. Another band was I started getting more confident. Now is a fifty percent songwriter with that group. and then you know, 'cause you hop around from band abandoning. You know they last a year or two so that there was another band you know those those I who were punk rock ish or just rock bands then got into like an old country band where I was a one third singing partner in writing partner. After that, I got kind of got tired of of writing and I just WANNA play drums. I played A. Backup not. WanNa sing right now I, just want to play drums. I'm already doing five things at once and adding in their six so. Let. Me just play drums but yeah, it was it was a Lotta Fun. How much will even bringing up the confidence level? How much was that good for you to be on stage? I mean. Did that add
2 Kings 19 and Psalm 46, 80, 135
"Today, we revisited part of the story. We I read on Day, two. Oh, six including! HAS ACI response to Kingston Aker ABS threats. We're reminded of how humbly he responded when troubles came as way, and since we've read this story before you probably recall that after this when he's been blessed, and has stockpiled fortunes, and he gets to live an extra fifteen years, his heart Arc's away from God, it becomes prideful doubts God's words and live somewhat airless Lii. One of the things we didn't touch on home. I read this story. A few days ago was the part where God puts a spirit and snacker. That will cause him to hear ally. There are a few noteworthy things about that burst. God is in charge of evil spirits there on a leash, and they have to do what he says and go where he commands that comforting second God himself didn't mislead snacker. Scripture tells us repeatedly that God cannot lie. Bruce Sixteen eight says he's incapable of it. It would be contrary to his character because according to John. Fourteen one of his name's is the truth. Is the truth, but God's certainly does use equal for his own purposes when Romans eight twenty eight says he works all things together for the good of those who love him. Evil is included in that list of all things, the good, the bad and the ugly the truth he speaks, and the rumors other speak. So. He allows snacker up to be misled. If you think that might be an unjust response, try to zoom out and remember how sin. Acura of has been Lee bought your way and his leaders tell the people of Judah that they shouldn't let y'all way. Trick them into trusting him. This is a merciful response based on what's inaccurate. Deserves from God. Isaiah also tells has a that they will win this war without even putting gas in their horses, and he's right before a Syria can fire an aero toward Jerusalem God's Army, an army of one shows up and wins, but it isn't really a balanced fight. The Assyrians are way outnumbered by the angel of the Lord who kills one hundred and eighty, five thousand of them and one night, plus he has the home field advantage since he owns the whole earth and whatnot, then eventually, king inaccurate is assassinated just as God promised. Next! We jumped back into the psalms. There were two verses in Psalm, Forty forty-six that stood out to me in light of what we just read. Burst this reference to Jerusalem in verse five stood out. It says God is within her. She shall not be moved. God will help her. When morning dawns, this is certainly what played out over the course of the night. When the angel of the Lord showed up and won the battle for them while they were sleeping when morning dawned, they laid eyes on God's victory. The second verse I loved is the most famous one in this chapter Burston be still and know that I am God. One of the things we've seen repeated as you've been in Isaiah lately. Is this idea of quietness and rest and trust? This stillness fits right in with that, doesn't it? In Psalm Eighty the corporate cry is for God to save them and restore them. In this song Israel knows its identity and echoes it back to the God. Who gave them that identity to begin with? I love this imagery in verses eight nine? It says you brought a vine out of Egypt that vine reference to Israel the people the ones he rescued from Egypt. Then it continues saying you drove out. The nation's and planted it. You cleared the ground for it. This is a reference to Israel the place God drove out the Canaanites and planted them there, and now they've been burned up cut down plucked up and they ask God to restore them and promised to praise him for it. Someone thirty five is where my God showed up today. I really love this psalm. I went through it and circled all the action verbs where God is the subject and here's everything. God does in this chapter. Chose Jacob in Israel. Does whatever He pleases, he makes the clouds rise. It makes lightening brings forth the wind. You struck down. The Egyptians is sent. Signs wonders you struck down many nations. He killed mighty kings, then gave their land to Israel he will vindicate his people. You will have compassion on his servants E, Doyle's in Jerusalem. God does a lot of things here, and as we look back on all of them. We see his hand to bless his people. To restore and redeem the very ones who have repeatedly gone astray from him. and. He doesn't do it begrudgingly. He does it willingly joyfully. You know we know that because I six says he does whatever He pleases. It pleases God to adopt centers into his family, and call them sons and daughters. It demonstrates his great art bore redemption. You will vindicate his people. He will have compassion on his servants. It leases him. Wow, ease where the joy

"Kingsman. For some reason I read that every time instead of having read at once, ingest running that tape over and over and over again anyway. The long wait is over you guys. We now know that the kings will pick second in two thousand and twenty NHL draft. We just have the long wait until it actually happens now so here to tell you what we're gonNA. Do with all that free time as Jackson Lonski as we sort of give you a some reset where the franchise is, and where it might go from here, hope you enjoy it. Joining me now Jack Lonski. How're you doing today? Jack? Doing well, it's been awhile. Back it has now Friday night. There was a zoom call. For La Kings, employees and I was on the call, but I have to confess I have no idea how many other people were actually on the call. It was a lot. Were you on that call Friday night? Unfortunately, I was not I was in the midst of some physical therapy, so I was watching. Watching the? Draft on TV, but wasn't able to to join, so the instructions were for all of us to turn on our cameras. Once the selection process began, and the idea was that we would all in a probably probably revealing stuff. I shouldn't, but the plan was that we should record ourselves on. In case, the Kings wound up getting the number one overall pick, and now way we would have this collection of recordings to you know. Put together into a you know a reaction video of all of us. Reacting to the potential good news now I did not turn my camera on, and I did not on mute myself because I knew. That! If we didn't get the first overall pick I wasn't interested in anybody seeing my reaction and I wasn't particularly interested in anybody seeing my reaction, even if we had the first overall pick. And as soon as the number seven pick revealed. To be not the Kings I started clapping and screaming and every Reno every card that kept turning down. Every time it was not the Kings I would. Shout out some obscenities and do a little fist pumping clap really loudly and. So so there's no record of that and I'm perfectly happy with their There being no to that, but the kings will wind up taking the second overall pick in the two thousand and twenty NHL. Yeah, said two thousand twenty NHL hundred. Initial reaction. Well I mean. I think we knew going in that? It was unlikely we were going to move up. Obviously looking at percentage, wise so having the bitter taste of what happened last year from moving from second to fifth I think we were all hopeful that it wasn't going to happen again, but you know the numbers weren't necessarily in our favor, so being able to move up and get the number. Two pick is extremely Great for the Kings Organization in terms of the luck, but at the same time It's going to be good. You know excited..

"You know where that finger points right but I do think that you find an area where Ilya Kovalchuk who's an established goal score you know Borderline Hall of Famer if you look at numbers had an opportunity to add to a team that made the playoffs and instead head went completely backwards I guess it comes down to you. Know which aspect of you you know what I just previously mentioned was the one to blame but I think at the same time. Unfortunately a we're not gonNA know and be its past and you've you've kind of got to deal with the consequences. I'm not sure what to learn. No from it because I feel like you just need to keep supplying teams or at least you know players with the opportunity become goal scores. And and that's what the Kings did it just for. Some reason didn't go their way not to on the culture thing but the reason I brought it up is to be in in concert with the other two things I want to bring up now. One of them is one that I'd roll my eyes and I never thought I would see people talk about it. But it's dominant Kuba League now for those who may not recognize the name. It was the prospect of the king's drafted in the seventh round in the two thousand and two thousand thirteen. NHL Entry Daft and traded this summer to Chicago for a fifth round draft pick. He currently has eighteen goals and twenty eight points in forty six games for the Chicago Blackhawks. Now I don't know that he would have scored. Those eighteen goals the kings I probably wouldn't have nonetheless. Eighteen goals eighteen goals. And then the third player I want to bring up his Tanner Pearson who has twelve goals in thirty thirty four points in forty seven games with the Vancouver canucks. Now I understand why Daniel Pearson was traded last season. I understand that he was seventeen games. No goals and one assist and so that was a move that that they felt they had to make. But the point I'm making is twelve goals from Pearson thirty four points from Pearson eighteen points for eighteen goals. Twenty eight points from Cuba and now seven points in seven games for Amelia Kovalchuk. At some point this is a team cannot score but plays really well overall all numbers. But that's three Blair's who would insert more than thirty goals into the lineup. Like what's going on four or five six coaches now that this. Here's what I think it is. I think so for the sake of this argument. We're looking at offense broken forwards. I think what you're at least what's kind of coming together in my mind. Here is the players on the kings right now. That are playing playing the heavy minutes. The ones that are you're supposed to be providing the offense or the ones that are at least taking up. The opportunities are not necessarily. They're Li goal scoring layers. And it's not to say that you know players on our top six are are under performing because in one way they are obviously because your team is losing. You're not in the playoffs. You're not point per game players players. You're probably minuses. But at the same time it's those players that are not providing goals that maybe holding back the ability for the younger players to step up into roles but at the same time also show the offense that may be these six habit. Yeah I mean it's it's a tough situation but I think it comes down to players playing most minutes aren't goal scores their playmakers or their sound defensive of players that can play the game. You know well rounded but the end of the game you know. There's only one step that matters. And it's not your plus minus it's your teams plus minus and look at the end of the day. We understand that this is a a an evaluation. Year as part of a larger Ricans. Very much so I'm not. This is why I'm not pulling my hair out and don't have well. Why not only my beard out and you know look it is what it is but it again? My my major concern in all of this is for a team that struggles to score but plays well overall all what happens as you said you know the guys that get those minutes right. Drew Doughty Plays Twenty six minutes a night Alec. Martinez plays twenty minutes a night. Dustin Brown plays eighteen minutes. I follow follow. Plays eighteen minutes. You know what happens when you start replacing those guys with younger players and I mean we'll find out in that is the purpose of this it adjust because maybe we'll I think we've come to the point. Where maybe these? Maybe some of your first liners really second-liners in the NHL Nowadays I mean amassed you know what I mean but it's you know these names have been around and we've you know you have a veteran savvy team that has won multiple cups together of sprinkle in your youth and your follows and your Lozada's and your Wagner's and so on and so forth but the core of this team was successful. What five years ago? Yeah so maybe those players this who have come to be the lovable players aren't always the best choices nowadays and you know it's it's a business but it's a hard time to to evaluate some of your better players when they're holding back you know potentially opportunity for the future. Here's a here's what I'm going to leave this conversation on. Okay we're going to wrap it up for an answer. Six names with six numbers the only four players currently care again. It's plus minus. I know it's a goofy staff law. The only players delectable the only players carrying positive numbers at this moment home in the King Season Carlstrom plus two like Lozad plus to Matt Roy plus to John Walker plus one a bunch of four guys carrying evens including So good for him. And then the bottom two minus players drew doughty minus eleven. Jeff Carter minus sixty so. I think that we've been saying we're going to leave it there. Jack thank you for joining me. Welcome back thank you. I appreciate it and welcome home now your home. You can't say you're from Minnesota anymore now you're from La Minnesota Board. Yeah there you go call Jelly native. "Worker the Los Angeles Kings. How's your hours? Your holiday it's been good. Yeah it was it was nice was home in. Minnesota is able to spend time innocent from Minnesota did not another. Yeah able to spend some time with the family kind of reset after graduating in the summer and we are. Let me be the first to congratulate you on the podcast August anyway for graduating from USC. I appreciate it thank you and like I said. Welcome to the team. So your first podcast. Back and Dan King wait lists for the Bowie witness. doozy was a doozy as a very polite way of describing six minutes worth of a doozy. Yeah now when it was four to one what did I predict the final score would be five. Three is pretty close. You were very close and at that time not look like it. All we needed was an empty net goal from Florida. Now to take some of the shine off that missed prediction. I assume that the kings would make afford to then pull the goalie than Florida would score an empty netter to make it five to two games and scored totally meeting was making five to three like it looked pretty well yeah. This is slightly slightly less upsetting that out yet. I'll give that was gonNA save this for the past but I told it to you when it was four to one but I'll I'll use. He's now anyway in games like that. There's a moment a tipping point and it's surprising to me how many points in my life where this tipping point point comes into play and I am I acquainted to an episode of dealer not ill where when the episode dealer no deal star. Winning drowned starts the contestant comes in and I think to myself they look like they looked like a lovely wonderful person. I hope they went a lot of money And then personal the dealer will call down and say like all right the offers you know fifty two thousand dollars deal or no deal and you're like Oh my God fifty thousand dollars take it you bum. And they're like no. We're going to go for it and now rooting against you now. I hope you go home. Penniless and ashamed at a blight upon your family dollars. Yeah and that's me at four to nothing nothing. That was the tipping point for me. I don't want the four to three comeback. Because to me is aggravating is like all right. Well okay where was Africa VIP five minutes. Yeah it's obviously aggravating. Because exactly like you said where is Ben but at the same time it also just shows you know when this team can focus and by all means in those fish fifty five minutes we were just on our heels and then all of a sudden you flip it and you turn into desperation and Kobe. Tara talks a little bit about that in the post game with Carlin it just comes to a point where when you know you need to go all out and you need to take chances and you need to just is focused on offense and and hope that you know your sound enough to not make the mistakes that are going to cost you. They have the ability to control the game against a team. That's playing very well and time and time again. Although it you know we have been successful lately there are those little spurts and every coach talks. About how sixty minutes. I gotTA play Sixty Minute game and the kings unfortunately played a six minute game but if you can always put together you have the pieces in there slowly showing showing up a bit by bit. Unfortunately there's not showing up at the same time I know I am ones frequently cite the numbers but to me. This game is a couple of Y. The numbers don't actually tell you everything. If you just looked at the raw numbers you'd see a forty three game where the teams split the possession numbers right was fifty fifty coursey throughout the course of the game. It was fifty fifty fenwick. It was fifty one point. Twenty two to forty eight point. Seventy seventy eight in favor of the panthers for shots on goal scoring chances fourteen to thirteen difficulty. You know five to three expected goals Fifty nine point seven in favor of the panthers. Forty point three in favor of the king's Eagle. Okay close game but the reality is and this is I mean. I looked at some point in the second said. Is that a wonder what the record is for. Pop possession without a shot on goal because there were at least four different periods of the game where the panthers were just in the king's own playing keyboards shift after shift after they never really challenged score they never really tried to score. They just dominated in the panthers. You know unfortunately living where we do and you know they're now is on television to say the least but you know I don't really know what their game plan is on a daily basis but at least for the kings tonight the panthers were able to control the puck and Dan now they scored early and that changes the game a lot of times when it comes to strategy or just the way that you have to play whether you're down or up and they they were able to just control the puck in their content with you know cycling it and d you know D. D. than shoot it back down to the corner or you know try to get on Net and you know cycle etc where the Kings played a lot of catching up and it's actually surprising with the amount of puck possession that they didn't have in those first two two periods two and a half periods that they were able to find the energy in the opportunities in the end because a lot of times. When you're chasing the PUCK and you don't know where it's going you spend a lot more energy than when you've gotten Britain you're kind of just a routine especially in the offensive zone you and I were watching the game at King's headquarters in you know on the one of the TV's in the middle all of what they call the pit? Everybody's selling tickets doing their job behind us. At one point it was three to nothing and I kings executive you know joined us and said you know what kind of podcasting enemy tonight. They good bad and I said well is going to be there. Bad and at that point is tweeted. Nothing recording had made the amazing amazing. Save what a say slid slides into stop grinded out. We're just sort of chitchatting in any. Says she'll be four to nothing. Then he leaves the room and then sure enough or zero walks back in ten minutes later but it's nothing like it was just that kind of game and I mean the fact. The kings came back at the end is to me sort of you weren't here but they He was the Game Against Vegas where they scored for the first area. And then Vegas control absolutely controlled. The game yeah there and I called it the most fraudulent win get up early. Maybe if you've flukes here and there and just hold on power like this to me was like one of the most fraudulent comebacks I've ever seen where to to that executive completely enough completely outplayed out strategized outworked and frankly just a better team beat US tonight right but at the same time and then it's like okay. Well you know as four zero so or not right I guess I mean I. I don't know I think when you have nothing to play for in terms of the winner the loss on that particular night I think you can kind of just say screw it. Let's just go all out and see what happens and I think that's a little bit of what they got tonight. But at the same meantime when it happens time and time again you know. There's things that you need to address and we're not saying or hiding the fact that we need to make a few changes to become Stanley contenders or playoff contenders. Right now but at the same time I think you know I it continually although it came at a six minute pace or a six minute segments. It shows that you know we have a lot of pieces here or potential pieces that can be a part of a playoff team and a contending team in the future whether it be next year two years years or three years down the road. I'm glad you mentioned changes. Because that's what I want to focus on with the rest of the time we have left is this is not This is GonNa be a this is going to be less than a sunny episode of all the King's men because I feel like it's been okay so far no no it. It has been but now we're now we're talking about the changes a little bit of empires right back where clouds where we go and we up face off against vader and it is evacuate selves. So here's my concern and I said this jokingly during the game I said look aside from the the fact that they can't score. Yep they're great. Problem is despite all of my protestations that people who do nothing but score are not as important As we make them out to be you do actually have to score. Yeah and being real good at every other facet of the game but being absolutely Lee terrible in the scoring of armament is not a recipe for success. So my concern is and I have stated this previously if you move some of the guys that we all expect that they're gonNA move and even if you include some of the guys that that we don't like people understand that Martinez to Foley Clifford for Lewis guys like this might move because of agent contract and Cetera Cetera. But even if you make the decision that like okay well Wagner's not working out. He's not scoring enough. So we're going to break that that lineup. You'RE GONNA move this guy down we're gonNA give somebody else to shop whatever. It is at some point this team for the better part of twenty games or somewhere in that neighborhood has crafted this identity. And I'm not saying it's permanent identity. I'm not even saying it's one that you should be happy with but we're talking last twenty games. Give her too well since since Kovalchuk left over simple can. I can't say that I got you know. Once they put Walker doughty together once Lozad Wagner and Cambay started take together like they made a couple of tweaks Tina's back yes things like that so and the identity is dining like top of the league in fancy stats which frankly fancies. That's are not that fancy. It's really just shooting your opponent so they possessed the pop. If shooter opponent. Yeah they don't score. They don't give a lot of goals so despite the notion that they've moved into this quote new identity of you. Know more offense. I I think the events are still just a defensive team that can score yet. You're right when you put it that way and I think they've moved into the. NHL itself is obviously changed the way that they play the game. It's obviously much more skill base for moving to her towards Safety D. N.. No offense opposed to you know gut it out defense but we still have the block shots and and the defensive mind went turns you know sell out for or whatever it may be but at the same time I think the kings have you developed an identity as you said that is wide open on the offensive. Then without.

"The kings are so Jesus. SEIZES DETROIT'S A minus seventy one. That's why people when I say the Kings are good and I like I get it. They're not contenders but they're not Detroit all right so there are somewhere in between New Jersey and they're worse than new jer- none other room saying they're in between New Jersey and Pittsburgh there somewhere between plus thirty two and minus thirties. Oh Aw okay. So I'm going to say that. Their minus twenty three fo very close Dave Joseph their minus twenty six. Okay which is not great minus. Sean Walker now I yeah. That's that's right. I don't know what they are since Kovalchuk left but it's a lot smaller than minus twenty six. I'll give you that now. It is really I do okay. I mean I know it is it but I don't know what it is off the top of my head. Yeah well so so national Nashville's not great. They're four games above five hundred. The kings are our math. Five Games under five hundred. That's pretty big swing and listen. What what national has in the kingsdown and I'm not suggesting the Nationals Cup contender? Because I don't think they are in fact having a conversation in the press box during the game about the fact that all of their centers are a little bit Soft for lack of better word. I'm a doughy fell less so I don't like to accuse other much tougher man than me of being soft. Yeah there's somebody else's word hockey in hockey s in comparison to other interested in Boston but they have guys like Roman Yossi or are they have guys that when the absolute game is on the line. We'll do something and the kings have guys that can do something but Jayco Petar took one sean Goldman and I lost. Yeah that's concerning. Yeah I I mean. He can't be the guy every night. Cope can't be the guy every night. There's got to be someone to help pick up that slack especially when Dustin Brown is in the lineup right so I follow scores tonight fully gets an assist tonight. what then what then there's nothing. There's no secondary scoring. There's no your third line isn't scoring your fourth line but to your point the third line may have been the best line is but if you can't finish but this is why you need the issue and we we identified it last time right when we made the new ten questions and we said WHO's the second line on. Yeah because the reality is as having a conversation with the same fellow that called national soft. We're talking about the second line. He asked me. What do I think Horgan and I said I laugh for Hawkins? Fine the problem. I see with At the moment is he's not a second line center her right. He's not good enough to be reliable second-line center but I think he's too good to be a fourth if put him on the fourth line. Then you're playing. I'm like eight minutes. Yeah and what's the what even is the ten minutes tonight but we have a third line right lozad campaign wagner regardless of how much mostly score they do stuff they do what a third line ought to do. And you don't really have a second line center. We don't even you have you have eighty percent. Operational Jeff Carter and an AHL and a K H I like Martin Burke. I'm thrilled that. He has three goals in four games. I like Horgan right like we were talking about his game tonight. You know saying like where do you slot him and I said listen one of the things I really like like about him. Is that a ton of his goal not that he has on goals but a lot of the plays where he's on. The ice that result in scoring are directly result of him not giving up on place and so so he takes an extra wack or he moves to the extra spot in a scrum and the puck back. Then you'd be like Oh that never would happen. It doesn't put in the extra Africa Yup but he's good for the fourth and he's is not good enough for the second and we have a third line so unless they're gonNA start playing somebody else with campaign Lozad who can put the puck in the net and make that the second line which I don't necessarily think the answer I mean look this is why the teams or is it but this is why the team is in twenty seventh place or whatever place there grind to be positive here. I know you do. I agree I agree and I like to work. And I like Martin for Terry. He was fantastic. And I like what I've seen from year so far I didn't notice a whole lot of guys out there tonight. I did notice for work in a little bit. Although I didn't have a shot on net now the guy didn't I usually notice copy. I didn't notice. copay alternate not a knock. Knock on him. He can't do it every single night. This define you could knock him I. He's an all star. He's the captain. He's a great game but I could go through the line of and say I didn't. I didn't notice anybody out there tonight. Nobody you know. I didn't say while this guy. You know we at the end this will say. WHO's the player of the game? You got me tonight right. You know what I mean. Yeah I would probably say it's Alex I follow you know but I couldn't. I couldn't list three guys for you tonight. Who stood out right went while he had a really good game or like the last time I came here New Year's Eve and I said Adrian Campaign. Oh my God he had maybe the best game of his of a season so far. There's there's no there was nobody tonight and I just don't understand that I mean so just a reference. The conversation guys who who none of them are not you know what I mean like. Listen we all we all like. Todd McLellan we all we all. He's doing a great job absolutely but at the end of last season. We all sat there in the Media Room Toyota Sports Performance Center and listened to to the actual players say out loud about themselves. We were entitled Yup. We were lazy. Yup We didn't put in the effort we in practice practice well. Tyler Toffoli called their practices city. So Todd McLellan. Alan is but one man in like he can only do so much. Yeah also you can do is cut. There is time and yell at them but if they're gonNA put it in a performance tonight. I assume he's going to yell at them tomorrow. But doesn't Brown's out mcdermot take McDermott's outlines out out back Martinez back forward could be back. I'm trying to think of other forwards that are gone for some reason Tanner Pearson GonNa make me cry. Ilya Kovalchuk Yeah. They're Lewis Martin Firkin the line Trevor Lewis as Trevor Lewis is out Dustin Brown and even with with Brown Lewis in the lineup. Not a ton of scoring from those gentlemen Brown's good for forty points. Maybe but right. Yeah yeah great so yeah they gave a crummy performance. I didn't like I didn't think this was the was on Campbell but I also didn't think he looked spectacular. Wasn't he was average tonight but I mean they got out shot like He. You know there are a couple of one bounced off of three guys and one of my and go. Yeah look they got beat by better. I is this going to be better team but they also beat a better team three nights ago here in this very same building. Yeah with a packed house and a bunch of people in Orange Jerseys. Yeah Yeah and they were bunch of people wearing gold tonight. I know that was kind of strange. Very strange I didn't went to Nashville have a traveling and I thought that industry in Nashville like at people who moved to L. A.. Move to La. Generally speaking for the weather yeah or the business and the business. I'm in the industry so when there's a bunch of people from Detroit or Boston Chicago or New York and they have jerseys and they have nice tickets and I just you know crinkle up my nose and I go like what are you like editor or something and for some reason you sold out your home in your community and your life l. a.. The key grip. Yeah exactly and now. You're but oh you put on your old home colors to come and represent you know in the one place in the city where anybody cares where you're from the bitterly but anyway the Nashville like I've been in Nashville nationals. Lovely and frankly people leave here. Yeah to Nashville. And there's work in Nashville national right like. Yeah that's what I don't understand. Sound artists like national. Of course. I'm slandering everybody. Not what from L. A.. Even though I myself am not from La I am not either. Yeah I tell you from New York from there. Yeah you're a Uber you know a lot of gold jerseys. I wasn't paying rapt attention because once it was two nothing. I tuned out. Well I had a second intermission mission star wars bit to memorize so I was to care to refresh us on that. Yeah we played Frick or firt frick or for. Yeah Okay Babu Frick. The droid machinist Kazimi. No idea we're talking or Martin Burke the Czech winger from La okay. The gist of it is I gave a name to Greg. Grunberg or one of the stars of rise skywalker I would give him names and he would have to tell me A star soccer or hockey player. Okay go ahead you WANNA play. Yeah Yeah Yeah all right. Snap Wesley. What snap Wesley Snap? Wexler Star Star Wars correct. Yes Loom Jeffrey. Oh hockey player. Of course Bernie Boom Jeffrey on inventor of the now the trick to this game is that Greg Grunberg. Maybe not the world's greatest hockey expert Beaumont kin sing again. Beaumont Kin Beaumont in. I think that's the name I'm going to have to look at the list. Once I've memorized I slept it immediately. Flushed from my man role Mont can I would say Star wars character corrects by Dominic Monaghan. Charlie from lost cost for those of you know and then After Beaumont Ken Ulcers McCall come on Ulcers Mikula ulcers cool star wars character. No hockey player ulcers goalie from like the thirties. Or something I mean as I was GonNa say I was frank but that was his nickname also exist. When I think you'll get Turk Broda hockey puck but again again sounds? And then the last one was `enrich pride and Rick right how useful the first name E N R I C Star Wars character. Correct so anyway. That was pretty well last year. It was kilroy gun rights or gun. Range Brian Killer. I scored the LA kings and Newt Gun Rei Vice Chancellor of the Trade Federation for Star. This is great. Yeah I wish I could see once a year I get they let me play my dumb little game and I. I am unusually proud a heck of Africa for very good. Yeah so yeah. The Steve's thinks that was I believe the point of this episode. They don't but I mean look but they're not great no and every time we talk to. So I bumped into somebody from the Development staff not one of the former players but one of the video guys analytics guys and we're just chit chatting. I knew him before either. One of US was hired by the team and I said like hey you know this. This game result notwithstanding how how. How do you feel on the team? And he said you know. I said they're fine. Basically like there's work to do obviously and it's not a mystery to anybody. What where the holes needed to be filled and you know the Campbell thing like I said not his fault but not terribly? He didn't steal steal the game for them. No right.

"We are high above the ice in the Bob Miller press box etaples center. I think that's how it said anyway joining me tonight Dave Joe. How're you doing tonight? And as Steve Jesse. I'm doing well and happy holidays to you whether you celebrate Hannukah or Christmas or both or both happy holiday. Yeah now Mary. I would say merry Christmas. Because I'm of that faith ears peers might spill against Hanukkah or Christmas or any any the nor- do I hear. Here's my personal approach towards it as a a a a in the wild North American secular Jew. Well Yeah we're where we're rare sometimes season the wild But no look doc. Look we're all ideologically compromise on all of these holidays right like the original traditions. That started all of these holidays. Or I'm getting way off base here but they're all couched in like you know some form of of Devout religious dogma. That I don't personally subscribe to hear here but when somebody says to me Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays Happy Hanukkah or whatever it is they say well I choose to interpreted that as you're my friend. I Mike Care about you. I wish you well and so I don't get caught up in which version of that message is extended. Well said Jesse so thanks for your host. This show that's right. Merry Christmas look the Kings get their heads knocked in the first period. Merry Christmas or Mary festivus pessimist I suppose it is the twenty third still while recording this You asked me a question right before we started recording. which was Was I surprised that that Jonathan Quick started the second period did ask you that. Yeah and I was not surprised you weren't and the reason I was not surprised was because as you yourself have pointed out many times the first the game back after a road trip stole my Li- yeah mine and and this was a I think in arguably the best road trip of the last fifteen eighteen months. Oh Yeah I don't think there's an argument being made there so this was this was gonna be stinker a worst it come first game back after defending Stanley Cup champion building. And that's the other thing. The Saint Louis Blues are really good team. Yeah and so I- Brayden. Jen can play. He can wasn't used a cane. He was yes you was and not only was he king at one point but I was watching sort of a snippet of the pre regain before the game started and they were talking about their coach Craig Brew and how he was hired last season chief in November now Darryl Sutter was hired I think in December December of two thousand twelve but So there's a little bit of similarity there. But then I started thinking back. You know in the off season the Blues Brandon Ryan. O'Reilly you know. And the assumption was oh adding Rhino Riley will make them contenders and they got off to a slow start and it wasn't working out and they fired their coach and I thought back to Mike Richards and you know so I was sort of reflecting backwards on some parallels rate and you know look the Kings after they won the Cup in two thousand twelve that next season they were awfully good. They weren't weren't as good as the blackhawks but they were awfully good. And the Saint Louis Loser awfully good and this game was out of hand early and so no. I wasn't surprised that they didn't whole Jonathan Quick. Because I don't I mean it was Ford and nothing scoring five goals against the defending Stanley Cup champions on a night when they have already twelve minutes into the game proven that they're rolling. Yeah that's hall order. That isn't tall order. And this team was not Saint Saint Louis was not going to back down the parallels. It's actually that's funny that you bring that up is quite similar with the O'Reilly acquisition. And then you've got like for instance. This year they have Brayden Schenn lighting up the scoreboard and David Perron. WHO's lighting up? The scoreboard. Alex Angela has been great on the back end and they've got solid goaltending so the parallels continue so you had Kotaro and Carter who were lighting it up the in two thousand twelve. You had drew doughty on the back end. Who was yeah? An animal and Johnny quick was safe and everything that got shot his way. So you could. You can see the parallels continue. This is a very good hockey team. It so so the fact act they got beat. Four one is is not should not come to surprise to anybody. Numbers came back after a long road trip I don't WanNa say it's to be expected but it's kind of to be expected right. I mean I think I would've been I would've been surprised if it was four to one. La At the end of this. Yeah and and look I saw I mean whether or not it it quote unquote should be acceptable as should be expected. You know. I'm sure if you ask John McClellan before or after the game you know hey. Scheduled lost their a coach. Like I'm sure where he would reject that. Say everything that you're supposed to say but if you ask everybody the media the fans right anybody who doesn't have skin in the game yeah we we all knew this they were they. Were going to lose your ups and I'm not a senators away. Yeah their minds. I mean they gotta get presents for their kids. I haven't even seen I mean it's been two weeks since they've probably seen there right. So and and the reality is let's just take a deep breath. The reality is this season I said it during the pre-game show they're not going to be as bad as Detroit. They're probably not going to be as bad as New Jersey and so the question is Chicago. Anaheim San Jose. La Ottawa may be Columbus. Maybe even the Rangers take a dip or any of those other teams that I mentioned rise up a little bit. The rest of those teams are gonNA fill out. You Know Twenty through twenty nine th place. There were twenty three through twenty nine whatever winds a. b. and then there'll be a lottery right and and it'll slot out the way it's lots out and who knows maybe Detroit doesn't get the number. One of the point is there is no controlling it so I'm not going to adjust. Spent one season. You know Lose for Hughes and all that stuff spent an entire for yeah yeah. I'm not doing right like since they. This is the first time you and I have spoken since the truck situation. Asian finally resolved itself. Oh yeah since Kovalchuk has been held out of the lineup. I believe their record is a game above five five hundred or maybe they're at five hundred. Now I'm going to have to look it up as well that's interest. I should have known this but the point is they are a completely different team with him out of the lineup. Why is that seriously? Why is that? Because he's not. He's not a good hockey player. Well I would disagree with you there. I think he's I think he's in above average hockey player. Well we we would have to quibble over definition. He's a skilled hockey player right. But I don't think I don't think he's good at playing hockey. I think he is good at the calm. I think he is good at the skills that generally help one be a good hockey player. Okay but I don't think he is good at playing the game of hockey. How about this? How about I throw this at you? Yes maybe maybe. He doesn't fit into the system that the kings would like to. I think that's a very nice way of saying what I am willing to say. which has no longer a good hockey player her? Well I wouldn't go that. Nobody else wants to go that I would. I would just say. He works hard his his yes his work ethic off. The ICE is fantastic Iraq. He's in he's a very nice man. I've heard his information right and he drives a really nice. Yes S. unfortunately when it comes to playing hockey he's not good at it anymore. Well I used to go still has a good shot. Yup and he still can skate faster than a replacement level player. Might I say this though you can say whatever you like I think this is my prediction ya not. I don't know where he's going to end up but if he plays plays in the NHL this year he's going to help someone make a very deep Stanley Cup run. And I'M NOT GONNA say this I'm not gonNA say that that. That team is going to win the Stanley Cup. Not GonNa take it that for sure. Because I don't know where he's going to end up but I think he is going to be in addition to that team while he will be if if it happens he will be in addition that is true whether it all in addition. Well I got to disagree with you on there but we'll find out but regardless I'm looking at it up here. I'm not knocking the Kings for doing what they did. I think I think they made the move that they had to make but that being said if he's utilized on a on a good team in the right situation situations he can really be beneficial to that team this team. I don't think he fits picky pits while he does without. No No. I clearly clearly does not fit the the team. Question is so since he left the team. Yup according assuming that this is all up to date and I believe it is the kings are ten hen nine and three for five twenty three win percentage. Now that's not great. That's bears out over an eighty two game season. That's eighty six points so you're still probably missing in the playoffs. Yup but given that they finished last season with like seventy four or something around that neighborhood seventy one seventy three something like that and they were projected by some people to finish the season with fifty. Five eighty. Six points is progress and given they're already committed to making shifts and rain younger bigger players in the moving out veterans. I'm comfortable with saying this season. They are significantly better than last season. Now that they no longer have global check and and so I am. I am ready to embrace the second half of the season knowing full. Well that they're going to miss the playoffs and knowing full well they are not going to get the number one overall pick unless they win the lottery. So I'm just reevaluating my expectations because we know day. Happiness as measured by expectation. Uh We do know that some wise man once said that many times so rather than talk about the game tonight. Okay as we've just covered you talk about Saint Louis to power play goals in the first period. I mean we look this team. This team is decent five on five. Alex portraying. And they're rough on specialties. Right like that's not new information. No the king's power play is confusingly bad and the penalty kill score parkway golden. I know they did and I saw some people complaining that they only went one for five and I wanted to say like one dollars twenty percent. That's actually it's pretty good. Yeah is a lot better than they have been on the season so I'll take it right but the penalty kill is rough. Um and look Saint Louis. powerplay was top ten. I want to say they were seventh. May Be coming in. So I'm just not gonNA feel bad about losing to the best team in the West one. We're the worst team in the West is just right as Christmas. You can't make me feel like you can't make me feel bad about it right you can make you can make me feel bad about celebrating Christmas on Jewish. But you. But you can't make I was. I was surprised that there were so many Saint Louis Blues fans here tonight. I was shocked what what is with that. Well I mean the bandwagon is obviously of course. But we've never seen that. I will never never been good before. I've never heard that many St Louis Blues van saying I'm assuming what happens. Is that that like every other Lesser City in North America when they're citizens moved to our fair city of Los Angeles. They basically team. They don't but they only leadership off their chest out after they've won something right so like yeah. Blue Sands wouldn't make the tractors staple center because for years. Their team has just been a number one any. They've just been another never ever was right but now they come in as the you know it's Christmas or the reigning champs. They got Jon Hamm on their side. John Hampshire Nigerian and wearing the hat of lies. Is People on twitter recall. The hat lies because he has his hat that he claims he had since he was a kid or something but somebody figured out that the logo on the hat wasn't actually introduced until like two thousand nine nine or something else lose hat. Yeah Okay and it's like I never heard. YEAH HE I. I can't remember when he claims he got the hat. And somebody did the homework and realized that that the worst. It doesn't look as a story. But whatever the guys from stolen Valor Kansas City. Right Jon Hamm and I have something in common I'm sure you have plenty of things in common. Well that's about to is one knows all thing but we we. We both appeared on the same episode of Jimmy Kimmel. Hey there you go jon. Hamm's dressing rooms down the hall from Dave Joseph Dressing Awesome. I don't know I've never been on Jimmy Kimmel. Show Um uh-huh try so we're we're talking about the fans the Saint Louis. Louis Yeah so many Blues Jerseys out there tonight. I'm in a really weird place when it comes to the blues because for four or two decades. They've I carried around an emotional scar on my heart from the Ninety Eight playoff series when kings had three nothing leading in three took a five minute had a penalty and then had four goals scored on them in the in the ensuing. Five minute penalty and I. I was marrying that all these years hated the blues. Wow two decades something about and didn't even go away when the Kings won the Stanley Cup in two thousand twelve helped a little bit that the first sweep kings history came against the Saint Louis Blues. How the Matt Green Goal Against Saint? No it's great like it helps to make you go. It helped a lot okay. Great goal was and my favorite moment. Honestly my favorite moment went in kings. History actually isn't either coupling. It's.

"Aren't you compelled to refer to it as the the Mecca of basketball or whatever the no name they give no I really don't the guard man. It was great it was awesome us. I it's not as cool as L. A.. But no no not at all. I mean to be fair if I didn't live in. La I would hate la so well. And I've lived here twenty years so I have to say my home. Yeah Yeah but there you you go yeah seven and a half years after four years at hostile. Oh that's right Los Angeles we don't yeah. We get beat up if you do. Well also you just drive everywhere that's right But look the canes beat the Rangers Woman Yeah another New York team. bye-bye yeah right. That's right islanders. First at home against the The New York teams one of the devils. Come here I don't know have been here already. I don't we're thirty one games. I don't think it all sorted SORTA. We haven't seen the kid that's right. We have ACA kid. Kakaako terribly impressed me as fine. He's a good player guys. Don't get me wrong. Robbed them made a good save from the rest of the game okay. You didn't hear from many on rangers though. Oh look at. It's to whatever I'm sure he'll have a lovely career he'll make a you know he's already made more money than I ever will in my lifetime so good for him. No is that true making hundreds of thousands of dollars right. how `Bout Dave Hub? How about Brendan Smith is he? Rethinking oils you're thinking tonight for Fighting Curtis McDermott look full disclosure. I stepped out for a second so I missed that when I saw that I could hear the crowd. Yeah good till from. The bathroom is quick and yeah I'd tell what was happening from the crowd. Smith is a big LAD. Yeah Well Curtis. McDermott is a bigger Latin. And I don't know what Brennan Smith was thinking. And maybe he didn't know who Curtis McDermott was or do his homework. But as I said to you before we started recording. You don't have to know who he is to have is like you can see you see. He's large yeah. He's a large human. Being is alert mammal. I would not and we saw the clip somebody one of the fans. La Hockey girl on twitter was lucky enough to be right. I mean like five feet away from white right separated by the glass and you can see that I connect all Smith right outside of the head and Wagner fought That's his name S. K.. Jay Shakes. I don't know what Shay did. That made Wagner. Want a piece of him so badly. Yeah but sorry I take that acting wanted. Pc One of the whole darn thing. I don't know I don't know what was going on. But Wagner was not accepting no for an answer good for Wagner's it for him. Yeah Yeah let's talk about the lines real quick. Let's do it because middle allowable shuffle. Yeah McClellan something in the post game comments he said we're a four line team That's an interesting way I would have said there are two line team and and they're making do But hey there four line team dave they are a four line team while you and you say tonight kind of strange range. The way it worked out with Luff Patio and to fully on the fourth line what we'll term the fourth line and that's a fully comes up with a big game with a goal and an assist list and really played maybe one of the best games of his season. I would say Would you agree with that. Yeah playing on that fourth line. But it was his first goal Allenton Games. I thought I saw someone say that sounds right. The sound about right. I mean he's always been streaky. And this this season I think it's been exacerbated by the fact that they have been fluctuating. The lines right and and I think look I got a bit ahead of myself on the last episode of this podcast podcast that anybody heard When I insisted that the team was good on four sorry one in four since that declaration Asian I think for one now they want they want tonight so they've got one you were talking about before tonight and on the road just owned for? Yeah Yeah but we own for before tonight one for after tonight But Anyway the point is I think that they've been shuffling lines in the defensive pairs not in reaction into results on the ice but more in an effort to find out exactly what they have and how the pieces fit together and that's frustrating. I think from I'm a fan standpoint. Because they'll have something that works though roll with it for a while and then they'll move away from it like twenty six eight correct and now tonight was six six and eight fifty six and twenty six fifteen and three. You don't like that Well I'm confused because I don't I believe in ghosts or Guli or anything like that. But where are you going with this. Would you like to know. I feel like there's a ghost who really likes playing defense. Who was possessing Sean Walker? For the first twenty. Five Games of the season got bored and now lives inside of Matt Roy. 'cause Sean Lager has not been as good as he was earlier and Matt. Roy looks completely better than he did. A good player and I agreed and I and I thought he was great. But Sean Walker took a dip Matt. Roy took a peek at the deal. I think so. I don't think so. I do not not a huge one like. He's not a liability on the ice or anything. I think I think the the difference in places that he's not playing with drew doughty. That's part of it. No question right. But pairing him with drew doughty he automatically becomes a better player but for the Games. Well I e Derek orb. I'M GONNA quibble with okay. I'M GONNA push back quibble. I'm quibbling in the however many game seventeen games before he was paired with drew doughty. Yep I take it was seventeen. Anybody who perished in with their performance as as a pair improved right Hutton Martinez whomever he played Asher. That hair did well better. Yeah then he got put with drew doughty and drew out. Numbers improved dramatically Because I don't I don't think drew doughty's having himself. The best drew doughty season. Ever in fact I would argue it's One of the more disappointing drew doughty seasons ever on the defensive end anyway and I get it. It's it's an new coach. New System Blah Blah Blah Since he has been separated from drew doughty whatever pair. He's he's on. It's usually with McDermott Yup. But it hasn't always been it's just not again not a liability not glaringly awful just slightly the less efficient than previously. Meanwhile Matt Roy has how many goals in the last five games and he looks incredible and like all of a sudden tonight. I was looking at his stick going exactly a willie. Mitchell link stick I was I was. I couldn't stop watching Matt Roy again a great night tonight but I would expect that kind of great night out of Game one through Seventeen Sean Walker. So like I said clearly a defense plan. Ghost has Has decided to see where you're going. Yeah Yeah uh-huh Matt Roy Has Been Matt Roy Struggle to start the year as todd McLellan documented he. He was kind of finding his way and finding his NHL Legs and a style of play. He has since found that now. He's found that he's proven that he's an NHL defense may that he belongs here and that he's got an offensive side to his game. That a lot of guys. Don't how or the kings are living body switching movies. Where once once the player learns the importance of self confidence and the switch album? It seems like he has become a different player. Yeah and maybe it is confidence a lot of it usually is confidence so interestingly you should mention confidence because that allows me to bridge to something I wanted to mention to you I was talking to Darrell. Eleven's we're revisiting our ten questions facing the LA kings and we're talking about Adrian campaign in the fact that he is clearly not the second line center that this team is looking for whether or not he spends anytime center in the future remains to be seen. But this team doesn't have a second center it's not Adrian Kempe the experiment continues as with him the wing with Lozad and Wagner. And I asked Daryl I asked him am I making it up in my head does he is he does. He appear more confident. Because I want Tim to appear more confident because I want him to look good you know or is it. Because there's something about a plan winging on senator with Darryl said was that he agreed that he thought they look better and look more more confident but that it had nothing to do with position and more to do with his linemates. His argument was that because he's playing with Lozad and Wagner who are essentially in the same age range but have less career your experience they deferred Kemp and they look to him as a leader on the line whereas when he's playing on a line with older guys he's deferring to them and changing his game to match theirs so I thought that was an interesting observation it is I just wonder if he's playing center. Does he still feel that way. Because we haven't seen center will arise that are his age aged so if he centered those two guys. Why don't they? I mean from my perspective. It doesn't matter because as long as he's playing confidently and effectively. I don't care I'll tell you oughta hear were vision. It right I would agree with you on that game. He's definitely set up his game. He looks a lot more confident out. There yeah technical tonight I find I find more. Did you have a goal tonight. He did what according to you. Didn't right yeah. Nothing comment on my own nonsense. They're here's some armoured nonsense. So when I see people criticize Kyle Clifford or Trevor Lewis and it happens. From time to time what I frequently currently see is them saying they don't do anything they're useless et Cetera et CETERA. And I can only assume that that means that they don't score because they're clearly doing things right but then I find myself frustrated with the third line. 'cause they don't score on the opportunities is that they generate right but I'm perfectly fine with me being critical of Wagner Lozad and kept not bearing their chances but I- leapt to the defence of Clifford and Lewis us who let's face it don't bury their chances either And somebody asks me why Carter was you know Place with them and I said well the only thing I could think gove was the two of them generate so much pressure in the offensive zone but a guy like a Mattio just isn't sorry audio isn't necessarily going to be the one bury. Those is chances. Maybe a guy like Carter who right with a storied offensive history. Maybe he'll capitalize on them. And that was like that makes sense. Yeah so why so so I I should just back off of that. Third Line is what I'm saying. 'cause they're doing stuff they're in the zone. They're they're not giving chances the other way they're just not bearing talk as much as I'd like right but in order to win your games you're GonNa need scoring from someone other than the Co Petar Brown. I follow eventually really often. Yeah if you want to win. Several Games baby get put together a winning streak. So you'd like to see in Austin Wagner. Come through you'd like to see Blake Lozada couple. You like to see Adrian Cambay Pot a couple here and there and he got one tonight empty netter out according to you. Not Look it happened. I'm just saying you know. He's got four goals on the season. Now I think that all yeah all right. That's not enough right while right. Look at that line and you don't have a whole lot of goalscoring between the three of them. That's the issue with the fourth line with Trevor Lewis and Kyle Clifford. You're not looking at guys. who were our goal scores? You don't say this is the line. We need production from If you get it fantastic if you don't get it big deal. They're not allowing. Chances is in there and they're not allow our goals to be scored up. You can't have that from two lines I think. Would I mean you need that to come through if you have a second line. That is actually a list again. Lowering threat okay. I can have it on your third line but that second line has has to be like when the Kings did they had a one B in a one a like. I was always leading the League in scoring right by you. Know when that seventies line was clicking gain or when you had Carter and Richard here for whatever it was a season or two together right You know you could count on. I mean I'd actually have to look it up. Because the Kingston score a ton of goals no there was very low in the league in goalscoring toward the bottom of this is..

Don't <Speech_Male> get as good. You <Speech_Male> don't get it confused <Speech_Male> but <Speech_Male> I'm just saying <Speech_Male> I don't. This is not <Speech_Male> a fifty five point <Speech_Male> team. This is not <Speech_Male> a seventy one point <Speech_Male> team. Even <Speech_Male> though they may wind up <Speech_Music_Male> with point somewhere <Speech_Music_Male> in the neighborhood of seventy <Speech_Music_Male> five to eighty <Speech_Male> which is frankly <Speech_Male> what I predict. You know <Speech_Male> when when <Speech_Male> Vegas came out and said that <Speech_Male> there are over under seventy <Speech_Music_Male> three point four even <Speech_Music_Male> though I'm not allowed to <Speech_Music_Male> bet on sports <Speech_Music_Male> anymore <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But I was saying <Speech_Music_Male> like Oh man I wish <Speech_Music_Male> I could because I <Speech_Music_Male> just thought there's no way <Speech_Music_Male> there's bad as they were <Speech_Male> last year point four even <Speech_Music_Male> though I'm not allowed to <Speech_Music_Male> bet on sports <Speech_Music_Male> anymore <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But I was saying <Speech_Music_Male> like Oh man I wish <Speech_Music_Male> I could because I <Speech_Music_Male> just thought there's no way <Speech_Music_Male> there's bad as they were <Speech_Male> last year in <Speech_Male> October they were worse <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> in November. They've been way better <Speech_Music_Male> getting much better <Speech_Music_Male> and I just think they're so <Speech_Male> anyway. We're seeing the fruits <Speech_Male> of their labor. That's right <Speech_Music_Male> now <Speech_Music_Male> Kings fans <Speech_Music_Male> if you're still listening <Speech_Male> at this point <Speech_Music_Male> we have a ton <Speech_Male> of odd gas <Speech_Male> and other audio for <Speech_Male> your this week <Speech_Music_Male> so clear. <Speech_Music_Male> Your phone's clear <Speech_Music_Male> schedules. We got the rainy <Speech_Music_Male> day. PODCASTS got Fox <Speech_Male> and fast we <Speech_Male> got replaced with the rain game <Speech_Male> where velocity scored his <Speech_Music_Male> first goal. We're GONNA have replace <Speech_Male> this game where the Kingsmead as <Speech_Male> we <Speech_Music_Male> Winnipeg we've got this <Speech_Music_Male> post game. <SpeakerChange> We've got <Speech_Music_Male> Maybe <Speech_Music_Male> ducks postgame from <Speech_Music_Male> Anaheim. <SpeakerChange> Without a <Speech_Male> capsule <Speech_Male> this law it <Speech_Male> is a lot so <Speech_Male> shop Jesse. I'm getting PAT <Speech_Male> on the back. Appreciate <Speech_Music_Male> it you <Speech_Music_Male> deserve. So we're going to wrap <Speech_Music_Male> it up for now because you've got <Speech_Music_Male> a lot to listen to over the <Speech_Music_Male> next seven days <Speech_Music_Male> yet to at King's <Speech_Music_Male> thanks for listening <Speech_Music_Male> with.

"Times in mice five plus seasons of working with and for the Kings three times where I've ever been told what I couldn't say one was This lava voinov thing and that was literally because it was an ongoing legal matter and I symptom couldn't comment right. It wasn't like they were afraid of me saying wrong thing it was like nobody can say nothing to nobody ever the second one. It was last year in early November. I wanted to go on. TV for my intermission segment and call the season's done and start advocating for tank and it got to the day of and were finally came down like now. We're not doing that. It's too early something like I am not a this. This enthusiasm for the team is not homer ism wreck or being accompanied or but I mean I've been accused of adding purple sunglasses on. It's like I am not you know me. I'm not captain. Optimism would know your Sunshine Sinan Pasha inevitable. So what so what. I'm telling you I've refreshing. I liked this team. I'm excited about this team. I think this the and I want to hear any of the black hole. Talk like listen capable already looked amazing if next year. You're telling me the centers on this team or Andrzej Koper gave velocity like lasagna. Wake Lozad AWW and Nikolai precaution. You're good with the helm okay. I still don't think it's contender status. They're still need. They're still work that needs to be done. But I'm all right with that and I would take an eighty five point finish over Anna Anna. You know eighth overall pick in the draft or maybe better lottery roy rather than this sort of like will they need. Did you know like let's just well in the season. And Lily design. Build off of that and build on your optimism. You've got those four centers. You also have Jerry Anderson Dolan. You also have Alec Circa you. Also I mean I. Totally forgot about Alastair but last night scoop berry realized of. You're right and you could go down the list to have many options. uh-huh so if if organism plane grade or if lozad takes a step backwards whatever your other pieces right journey Anderson Dolan will probably be here next. Yes coltan and I don't mean to to you know canonize gave Lardy already after three right knee Joel. I'm just saying good. He looks great. Yeah and an forward played his conditioning assignment. Two Games on conditionings got into a fight in his first game and then Played well in the second game so I would guess. He's he's ready to entertain our Anderson Endures. Emmy do the list every time so there's a lot of pieces there. Would it be nice if the kings could get the overall offers the first robbers sure will be great but do I really want to sit through six more months of the you know worm worm this league not. I really don't want to see games like today. I'd really love to see them. Go seven good game. Seven five and two every month for the rest of the season finished with eighty five points and draft Otto eighth overall or or you know whatever. The game against the islanders was a good game now. The Game Against Winnipeg was a good game the game against Chicago and Detroit that they want good games not great onen but in this case the islanders in Winnipeg yield. Go Navy Vegas I mean I mean that's what this team is capable. It's just can they do it on a nightly basis most nights nights the only hitch in my whole vision of them being good. Is that most of these winds of common home. Okay most of if not. It's it's not all I'd have to check Like I said they're Owen to on the road since the changes..

"I did it again. Thanks there's three parts of that sentence I never get him in. This started over. Do Three two one. We are here in the Bob Miller press box high above the ice at Staples Center feels better joining tonight announcer. Dave Joseph doing tonight. Delo Jesse Jackson Lonski origin. Tonight Jack No title. USC Alum Jackson blocks almost all right well. USC student injectable Lonski. How're you doing? Great honor making her pockets. Debut editor in chief of jewels from the crown. Sarah of PAT. How are you doing pretty good? So kings win all right. We'll have a great night. Yeah Dave Yeah before I get into a real stat fake stats. It's this was a shutout again Jessica. Because come on what are you like. That was not his fault. It doesn't matter it. Mad went in beautiful. Fasten matters to me. And I'm calling this a win streak. I'm calling this part of the win streak. Four in a row at home game in Phoenix done. Oh at home but four wins in a row. The game in Arizona doesn't count so that was the stat that the real estate is five in a row at home. Gotcha Sarah did they win this game just because you flew flew out from Fu Chicago. I want to know what Sara thinks the game sandwich and I mean we see it every night. So what did you. I mean they won. They looked good. Connor mcdavid. David mcdavid only did one thing like. That's a huge huge point. David and that's it gets three-game minus three in the first period. What was weird is that he did it in a shutout? Shut up strange very strange. Now just throwing this out here for daily Fantasy I had Ryan nugent Hopkins Condom in. I don't know you pronounce his name. Leandra Seidel cleft guy. Ha Ira that's so you're welcome change. I went ahead. And chinks the oilers by loading up on them in Van Penalty. Count for anything to get it. But I feel like I contributed but three stars of the game plus Plus Three for Jesse three game. Doughty Jesse Martino not numbered Quick and quick now I hope it's our and Jeff Carter thank you. That's I wanted to say Jack. Yeah no half gardener. What year are you seven right now? Now Dave you and I just spoke yesterday. We did for people when they're listening. That's about Tyler Toffoli. And the fact that he just wasn't scoring enough and even in the back of my mind is we're having that conversation was the the idea that if he scores two or three goals and a little spurt. He'll be right back where we want him to be tools tonight. Is that enough to back you off of him. I'm a little bit. No okay because I WANNA see the next game fair and I want to see the next game. It doesn't always have to be two goals in the store but a goal here goal there couple of assists every night. Yeah that's what I WANNA see from Charlotte. That's that's tyler. Toffoli that kings were banking. Yeah that's the seventy three. That came up in what twelve during the first cup run. Yeah no fourteen fourteen thirteen fourteen right right. That's that's Tyler Toffoli. They've all been banking and that Tyler Toffoli hasn't really shown up until now right if if he keeps in a one game span. Yeah right but I agree with you. This is like after after the game where he scored a couple of games ago at home use. Oh what a move by to fully and I said great move. I just WanNa see it more often. Let's see him do it again right. So that's what I want to see from to fully on a regular basis but a great game by tonight. Yeah Sarah you happy be with season's over I mean he. He bounced back from the whole getting scratched thing and he had a good performance. But you know like you said I'd like to see him do it more consistently and put together more than just one game of looking good and then two games being invisible. There appears to be a slow skate happening. No you don't want to know what's happening. I'll pull back the curtain here. There is this is a true story. I'm not making this up. It's not a joke. Comedy's sake there is a yoga session going on at Staples Center right. Now they're really yoga center ice and they're going to be doing yoga momentarily. Is this yoga. Music Story yes down right all right so tired. Foley has himself a good night. I mean it was really hard to identify anybody that had a quote unquote bad night Johnny quick the office continues. His strong looks good. Looks Great I mean. It wasn't a shutout. Connor David scored. But I thought you said it was but other than that well it was. I mean. Shut up Ben Hutton. could have been stronger on that part but at the same time. It's connery David and I'm certainly not going to blame quick. It's five one game. You think todd McLellan that money on the board for this one for something on the board. I should say money I mean getting out of that Elevator Brown toured. I mean I think he wanted to win investment I'm GONNA reverse myself that Wagner Cambay lozad line. I mean they look great tonight. They didn't score though there are at least I don't know half a dozen chances again though but it goes back to the tyler. Toffoli thing is yeah. They can look great rate but he's got to keep doing that. And and for the sake of this argument they have to keep doing that but it doesn't matter if they don't score I agree with you. The reason I'm changing courses that it occurred to me that Kemp as been on wing for what three four games now. Your sat out Saturday's scratch straight into way in Thursday's in Saturday's today's loss on Monday. And then tonight so it's been four games and I. I have a tendency to forget this kemp as only what twenty two twenty three and I get it there guys younger than him. Putting up you know eighty ninety one hundred diseases I got it. But but Wagner is the second year Lozada Rookie in campaign is what third or fourth season. I mean I'm willing to give it. I put this out on twitter. I'm willing to give it fifteen games. Just because that's what you give the team at the beginning getting the season you say okay we have to evaluate then after fifteen games will reevaluate so this is a new line. It looks great. You know I it does need. Just it's like if after ten games of this and we're halfway there. They haven't scored a single goal. Then then yes everything I've been saying for the last two or three games. I'm back on that bandwagon. It's like okay. It looks great but who cares Sarah did you I mean where do you come down. And we know where Dave and Jack Fall on the spectrum. Where do you come down? The notion of the team has to be faster quicker younger etcetera. Yeah I mean I think that that's that's where they need to go in the also need to when when we talk about speed. It's not just how fast you physically move your body. It's how fast are you playing the game. How fast you getting your position? It's not just you know Asta Wagner going zero to sixty And it's about thinking it's about where you're stickers positioned and I think that's kind of the level of finish of the detail that is still kind of lacking in some of that is just inexperience of young guys still learning to to take their game to this level. But you know they'll get their. Hopefully I hope so. I mean in Wagner's defense. I see him trying more side to side movement at the end of the breakaway. Yes yeah and I was. I was at I went to morning skate. This morning to watch the kings and at the end of practice Wagner stayed out with Bill Bill Ranford and they were working on They spent a whole ton of time working on his approach to the nets and driving. Hard to the net and evading a defender her and talking a lot about shoot cutting down shooting angles and really helping Wagner learned to pick his pick his spot and it seems like you know watching that maybe they're I think the problem is not that he has bad aim but the problem is he's not he's just taking uh shot and he's not taking the best shot and so that was really interesting to kind of get a glimpse into that out of them spending a lot of dedicated time with him you know and they were talking about breaking down goals. He scored in the past. And like. Here's how you did it do that again. And so you know. I think he'll get there but you know you'd like it happen sooner rather than later. We'll hear me out on this. There's a lot of similarity there's there are quite a few similarities between the way mcdavid plays and the way that Wagner place fast. Yes but that's exactly what he should be taking into consideration is okay so you know. I mean granted. He is probably watching a guy who's younger than do what he wants to do. But we didn't see a great showing mcdavid today but at the same in time. I think there's a lot that he can learn from the way mcdavid plays on how those angles are. 'cause mcdavid is better than anyone in the NHL. Shell of cutting down angles and making himself able to get the puck on his stick but in an area where he can produce. And that's where we've Seen Austin Wagner. You're not so that not necessarily fail. But he hasn't been able to bring it to the exact position that he wants or the best opportunity on his stick. Yeah so I think I it's. It's it's interesting because you know we saw team with the Kings win who had wagner and we saw team losing David but with what mcdavid his goal scoring which is something that very few you players in the NFL can but at the same time. Same time is it. What he did do was he brought it to his forehand and still went short side which is something that we we haven't seen wagner do in any of the opportunities that he has had that look a lot like what connor mcdavid does when he does score? Let's talk about a line that did score. And that is the Andrzej culprits are line. Big blast from Andrzej culprits. Are Dave I mean for good that co Petar is I mean. He's obviously the best around. The team is challenging his own record From a few seasons ago for points but I mean how long have we been saying and and I don't mean you and I mean everybody involved with the Kings has been saying he's gotTa shoot more. Have you ever seen him. Blast a shot like that was great. I'm not sure I've ever seen loved it just wasn't living one timer. The puck Lang ripped it. I don't think he's had that opportunity though up like that for them. They built point of. I've been like you. You know. Obviously many many times up in the press box..

"Obviously with the absence of Martinez the question was was. How are they going to respond? Powers Curtis mcdermot GONNA fit in the lineup. They're GONNA shift shuffle. The pairs are right. Who's going to be paired with? Yeah Yeah They responded great day. Looked perfectly fine to me. There are no issues there. They they didn't get caught in their own zone for. We'll just say you know forty five to a minute where you know play with strictly in in. New York's hands the now I would say and I'm trying to figure out the right way to say this but it's not like they had extremely high powered offense that they we're dealing with tonight but you know they. They looked comfortable. They move the PUCK. Well they didn't get trapped in their zone they didn't have problems breaking out. And They Sean Walker almost took a drew doughty two point. Oh you know roll today and Kinda just quarterback you know the team. When he was on the ice? It was a great thing to see because it just shows versatility and I don't know if that's something that we expect it other than Jesse going into the season of not only a guy a who is in NHL Defenseman and someone who could compete for ice time. But someone who could you know just quarterback a a roster when he's he's on the ice and play consistent minutes you know with a guy who's not necessarily known to be a great puck handler and a great defensive defenseman. He made a move at the offensive. Blue Line It had to have been during the first period and he stripped the puck away from a guy broken at his own made. A pass across is passing. All I could see was the two on. The Jersey was bent over his body was twisted and I was thinking to myself. Oh Trevor Lewis steps back into the line. Avenue doesn't move. I've never seen then. He stood up and I was like all right. Where's those walker sure? Of course all right just another day another day in the life of Sean Wants Right Nancy. The Pride of Bowling Green. That's right forget that very important And he did an interview I can't remember who the they sent it to us. A At the kings offices offices Maybe it was with TSN or something and he talked about how how important it was for him to go and develop his game because he was a little little bit undersized and then he grew and then you know there was never a place for him in the higher echelons of organized hockey for his age group and so nobody eighty expected this from him but he was able to just go and slowly develop his game and that sort of I want sort of apply that conversationally retroactively to Ryan and Roy. It's like yeah these it takes awhile for defenseman develop right anybody WHO's watched the game for longer than a year or two it. It's it's the same. It's the same get philosophical here for a second. It's the same as any kid No Offense Jack coming out of school will or in that age range. It'll but I mean like you make mistakes. Life is about learning from us and so defense men young defensemen there are always being like. Oh he didn't he he wasn't stupid and stand up strong enough the Blue Line. He pinched to earlier. He chased behind the net. Right and it's UC. You always see the same mistakes and you just gotTa Shrug Shrug and go like while he had to learn. Learn learn from that and Walker Roy or not young bucks. They're not eighteen nineteen twenty. They're in their mid twenties but they are young to the league. They're learning how to play the actual game exceptional walker awesome. But he already knows the rest of them. Put them in the hall. Yeah now look at Thanksgiving and I've kept you guys here late enough so so I think we're going to skip straight to the play of the game. What game I mean you know? Okay Jack's got a curfew Dave save get lay of the game play of the game. Someone else can i. I'll go first. Go ahead now I gotta think about now. I think one of go ahead. I'm going to go ahead with the assist to Roy because it was one of those moves where you're like okay. They've they've it's two one. The game's going. Well but ED E. exactly and you know the islands they weren't exactly pressing but they would have chances and the kings were having one of those nights where it was like especially in the second period right where they dominated needed one point you got over to me and said it was like twelve minutes on that and I said well. I don't like that you know because you know that's when the garage starts and so I- grams in the third period night in the second period but the Kings had had a lot of good shifts. They'd been moving the puck around. There was one you know once you've where it just always felt like they couldn't get it out and so I for Lozad to find Roy Wide Open. I think there'd been one or two miss passes on that shift or missed opportunities finds him and Roy blasts at home that for me. That's the play. I'm going to take Brown's goal because it was beautiful it wanted came out of nowhere really was it came off a turnover. I'm not sure who got the turnover but from WHO got the assistant. Follow Hutton. Although I'm still confused as the Win Hunt and touched the puck in that seat for another day Jesse we'll look at the tape. I will Because it came from a a horrible angle so shame on you semyon Varlamov but you tell them Jack Kudos to use Semion Alama for this podcast and this team i. It was a beautiful shot. And a Lotta Times goalscorers like Brown and we're not going to debate that because he is a goal score or they just look for that and you know as myself you always look for gold a goalie down because you know you can roof they can get up and it. It was a phenomenal shot. He beat him cleanly. And you know I think it changed the game because we're used to seeing us go down and then you always have to fight back and instantly you know in that first period. Did you know that they didn't have the lead long. And we're able to respond quickly. Get a goal you know kind of Plateau that momentum from both sides and then they kind of just took off from there. I'm happy with it and I think it's worth noting because we hadn't talked about. Can I change my vote and copy off a sure. Sure I'm not GonNa copy also all right. I'm going to say it's the Jeff Carter power-play power-play goal that. Put the kings up to to tip tip on the amodio shot. And if it's not for the tip the PUCK probably doesn't go in great tip tip by Carter and the power play had kind of been struggling to get it together to that point where they were having trouble connecting on passes fucking zone no flow and then all of a sudden and boom nice shot good tip puts the kings up to one and they scored on the powerplay which is a a nice pat on the back. Hey let's get this going. That's my place. Sometimes it it only takes one and it doesn't matter who it comes from. Yeah we said last game powerplays. Statistics are Kinda dumb. Given how much importance we give them. Yeah so like last game for example technically they go over five but really. The Brown goal was a second after the power play. Goals the clock. No but go from being who for nine to one for nine right. which is the difference? Basically between ten and twenty percent right and and at the end of the year if you're looking at percentages and you're like Oh my God that's power play was only fifteen percent. How did that happen? And it's like well some of it might be right but I but I that was all that also good submission for play the thank you. Let's go to player of the game. Should I started off sure. Jonathan Quick Look there were tons of plays where he was sliding thirty feet out of the crease and it was just sheer dumb luck. That the puck didn't Algarotti that just the same one goal against and Jonathan Quick. Show for Jessica anytime. Yeah I mean we've I mean look it. goaltending isn't the only thing it's everything right. That's the expression. Find you a good coach. Yeah yeah find a good goalie so I mean is Jonathan Quick Perfect. No who amongst us is right let he who save percentage right. You guys are good. I know in many ways geometry in school so anyway I'm going Johnny. That's my. I'll take the lizard. Jacking Skater. Now I'm going to list. I'm going Blake to the LIZ. Oh He's my man. I like Blake to the much more than I like the rest of it thank you. Can we get that trending which there should be a shirt in team. La That's as blake to the Lizardo. There really should be so Sean Ryan I know you listen to this podcast. Get it together. The other Sean Blake to the Liz. Oh make it happen. You heard it here first Dave Joseph trademark now we are going to go ahead and go around circle. Oh and before we have our PI. Yeah everybody's going to have to say what they're thankful for CAL CLIFFORD FORWARD FOR THE LA kings Thanksgiving's this week. What are you thankful for this year? just obviously family friends and the.

"It's a new coach. It's a new system. It's guys but as this team has started to take shape and as this team has started to put itself together like stop it you guys. I'm tired of hearing during the narratives that applied. There's a firsthand game. There's larger flaws in in the team that I think needs to be addressed or at least that are going to allow this team to keep winning and and I think that the consistency that these two have grown to A grown together in general is something that the kings are are extremely comfortable with in terms of seeing that. They're paired together every single night. Since almost the start of the season so I agree. I think that these these guys are solid in each other's that belong to play fifteen minutes a night and you know as of right now. There's no reason that they should be in the lineup. And they shouldn't be getting the ice time that they are the only the only thing that I would argue and I I'm with you one hundred percent on this the only thing I would say no. It's not an argument. They're not they're not playing against the top line not matched up against the mcdavid. Typically in playboy hair used to have Christian air off on the right right yes the day. That's a great point because sometimes it does go without noting that you're not every line is going up against the top line right posing team especially when you're at home when you're playing against the third or fourth line. You're not seeing the scoring chances from from those lines that you would be if you're playing if you're doughty in your Hutton or your doubt in your walker playing against mcdavid well let's let's take take an absurd comparison. Let's take two thousand twelve Stanley Cup. La Kings roster right okay Brad. Richardson Jordan Nolan frazier whose first name escapes me. All in thank you calling Frazier Matt Green and Alec Martinez. Those guys were fourth line slash third pair. Our dear right now. He didn't play against the other teams. Tom nope fair but every shift they were out there they were taking to the other team. They weren't a liability. They weren't getting getting Hamden in there. They were attacking they were. They were making stuff happen. Even if Matt Green only got one goal you know in the playoffs and it was a big big. Yeah but the point is like you know I said this. I can't even remember when I said it but Kris draper has more Stanley Cup rings than than Steve Is. Okay I like I like Christopher too and I'm not saying I'm not GonNa sit here and tell you the Kris draper is better than Steve Is. And I'm not going to tell you that if I was in a draft I would take Kris draper over. Steve is Herman woman. I'm just saying you need Christopher just as much as you need divisor man. It's just harder to find Steve. So a layoff of Roy and Ryan agree. Read what needs to be addressed that they aren't playing against you know the top line of every team but neither is any other third paired to fry correct so yeah they're extremely important but just as you're talking about Jesse is they're winning when they're on the ice and plus or minus at the top of you know 'cause you're looking at fancy antsy stats but what's important is. They're doing what they're asked. And when you can get an occasional goal out of Roy or Ryan by all means and I don't think anyone's going to be opposed Roy was plus tonight by the way Yes Ryan was even. Yeah which we were trying to sort that out early out as one on the Is Together at all times so I think that you know this offense. If it can be helped by the defense in terms of defencemen scoring you know it just makes this team a little bit more competitive in a little bit better in a little bit harder to be and now you're going to need those two guys with Alec Martinez Martinez Out of the lineup for however no you know who knows how long McDermott. McDermott Zanan forever coming back now. So you know there are there are going to be some changes ages. But you need guys like that to step up and it's good to see from those two guys dance your question Jack for the Season Matt Roy Even at plus minus and Yoga Ryan minus one I take take it absolutely and again. I'm not proposing that these guys are norris trophy winners or they'll even be when the team does reach convention. I'm just saying like the Trevor Lewis the Ryans. They're fine now ev. Honestly they're fine fine. Yeah everybody everybody on this team for the last. What two weeks has been great greats maybe too strong and have been fine solid? Yeah have been you know. Look Captain Happiness as measured by expectations right. My expectations expectations are being raised as a result of the play on the ice. And honestly they're not I'm not. I don't feel let down as a result of my I slightly elevated expectations. I still don't think they're gonNA make the playoffs this year. But we've gone more than three points. Yes well I think they're on pace for seventy one at this point or seventy two. which is what happens what we thought? Well it's it's I mean not that Vegas is beyond but it's where the over under was short for the team this season and my response to that was when I first heard it before. A lot of the things that happen happen mirus wants was that's absurd. It has to be higher than that. They can't be worse than they were last year. And have you remove the first five to ten games of the season. They have been better. Kobe played almost five hundred hockey coping. I think it's more than five hundred. Qatar has been a one hundred percent. The player we wanted him to be back. Quick has bounced back off. Carter's been great. Jeff Carter scoring tyler. Toffoli look like a completely different player tonight on our the family in the stands or what Flying up the wing campaign looks great. Lozad is who who knew made on the campaign marker who get to that a second uh-huh Andrew Doughty is on pace. I think if I'm not mistaken for his best season two years after the previous seventeen points coming into the game sounds right So I mean I look. It's Thanksgiving you know. My mood has rebounded significantly from where it was the unites. Thank goodness well three points and three three out of four points. Yeah I expect the rest of the season to be a slow climb out out of the basement into the black hole and I'm fine with it whereas the black hole between what is it between like eight and eleven or you're you're not good enough to make the playoffs but you're not bad enough the worst place. Yeah the pro- the problem. I only problem with that phrase and I just use it for expediency my problem with that raises that it was coined to reference eighteen. Does that every year. Like cowdery did for EDMUNDS and did for every year you know are sorry. Minnesota know where the Carolina we use the play offs and losers or Florida. Where you just get close and and so you never can get out of that cycle? And that's why it was called the black because it keeps sucking you in mere if the king's like the Kings when they were allegedly in it however many years ago they had two or three terrible years and then the climbed out right. But you have to have that that transition season where you finish eleventh or you know Panther Eleventh and and if the kings finish how many teams in our conference fifteen sixteen extent fifteen all right if the kings finish nine eleven three art great. I'm fine with it. We're GONNA re transformation information or whatever transformation. I'm not sure with coin term. We're using it but it's a matter of you know last refinish thirty out of thirty. You want your next year. There's a lot of expectation and there's a lot of youth that we at least hope to see in the NHL or at least in a king slash rain uniform. So I think it's a matter of figuring out you know who some of these players are going to be in the future and how many of them are on this right now beyond your copay tar is beyond your Jonathan Jonathan quicks beyond your drew doughty's and understanding. You know where you need to fill the holes I think you're seeing Lozad and Sean Walker and Adrian Kempe a slowly starting to come into their own air. Okay all of a sudden we can check this box off and now we need to look for someone who can do this. And whether that be through free agency or trades or you know draft picks that you have in your prospects that's what this whole seasons about and we're learning more and more every game but you know while we're seeing what we do need were also realizing what we don't need and I think to your point right now a third depayre something. We don't need eight. I think that's fair. I'm just looking adding just quietly. Why just look at the standings and realizing thing that they're further back than I thought they were? Maybe eleventh is a little bit ambitious but the point is I expect complaints better hockey league so there you go. Yeah trending upward. Yes can't train window precisely I but I think Jack that phrase what you finding out what you don't need is secret is is quietly lightly. Brilliant because we have discovered brilliant an asset that we don't we don't need this seizing scarlet. Yeah and you know. We don't need to dwell well on it but there have been lineup. Changes made and the team has been all the better for it and keep this in mind. Don't Oh forget what's in Ontario Right. Oh with Kale Clegg and Mikeandmike on their doors but these guys are velarde. These guys are going to be good players and we hope they're gonNA hope and there's and there's and there's a guy named Alex Turcott who's going to be coming up in the next couple years and there's an Arthur Calia and there's all these guys is that are making bjorn. Foot is still playing in Ontario. So there there are guys there who are ready to take these roles will ready over the next couple of years. I'm not concerned learned about it at all. No next couple of years are going to be a lot of fun to watch. Yes absolutely absolutely less on Walker. My he's a new car clifford and his head. My affection for the Professional Hockey Writers Association as well documented and I I was in the media room earlier today and my mood had not yet become had broken. Yeah from Abbey early. Yeah I didn't want to see him. Barry no no I was You you walk into the end of this conversation It was not your fault and a member of the professional aggressors Asian and I were sharing table and he said something along the lines of like boy that Sean Walker what a surprise And like is not this guy's fault but you couldn't. I have walked into a more rigged. Booby trap of For my personality right. Yeah I just like not to me talking about him on the rest of you dumb Tom. He's but I think I've stopped. This podcast even started and said how about that. Sean Walter every single podcast and so he instantly one of the defense was like. Oh No. We'll we'll do. It was like you know like that. Here's dudes awesome. Great am I tonight..

"There are those and and I realize I'm I'm speaking to a small percentage a small but vocal minority but there are those who are remain openly antagonistic to certain players players on this team. And I don't get it like Trevor Lewis step back into the lineup tonight. And did he like the world on fire. No did not score a Hattrick no he did not but was his is line dominating possession every second he was out there. Yeah did they give up any agreed Scoring chances against no. Do they give any you know. Oh terrible goals no like he played. Trevor Lewis Yeah Trevor. Lewis is a good hockey player. And and everybody you know for those who say like well I can't wait for them to trade trade Clifford Ann Lewis at the trade deadline team out there. That will need guys like that. I go right. Every team needs ratings if they were the the bombs that you report them to be there wouldn't be trade market for them like the. He took a line. That for lack of a better word. Got Destroyed last game and and completely neutralized it and quietly had that line. A you know a good night a night that you know as you just described Jesse controlled their own play and gave up no scoring opportunities so I think it not only as you brought up that if they have a market for him. He's extremely valuable to this team. And I think he's even more valuable to this locker room. That brings us to to to Ryan and Roy Moore third pair. So they're never gonNA be drew doughty at the peak of drew down. They had a rough. I'm not even sure if they played together as a pair in the first or games. I don't think they did matt. Roy had a rough first three games of the season. And I referenced this on twitter I said I think the narrative would be different. If those games had been played at home and the reason I say that is because Matt Roy was the first goal of the season that went off his skates Geico mcdavid and then end and then he was the guy who got beat outside late in that game on the you know it's like he got a spotlight shone on him early early in the season on the road. When there wasn't a single kings fan who wasn't watching the game will not? Maybe there were a handful but the vast majority of us the tens of thousands of us there were watching coaching on. TV saw those goals replayed over and over and over again and heard that the broadcasters talking about what a stroke you know the other young unwelcome Blah Blah after those three Games Ryan. Roy's fine like he's fine you guys. He's fine he's not he's not drew. Doughty yes there. You know a team that is struggling to get out of the basement of the standings but he and Ryan are not like people talk about often as if they are the worst defensemen to ever put on kings not bad. There's all at all and you could see a little offensive flair and Roy's game tonight. He had the goal but you can see him getting pucks through and he gets on the net. I like his game. I liked Matt. I've always use what those opportunities to play the game. I believe that he is right playing. Yeah I I think you know when he came into the NHL or at least to start this season you know as you talked about. Jesse a wasn't a pretty start. But he's slowly coming into his his own skates and I think it's gotten to the point where he knows when he can step up in. He knows when he's going to be opportunistic. Opposed to you being forced to or having to just play a game that maybe it wasn't asked to early on so I think he's gotten to the point. Where you're you're seeing a Matt Roy who is comfortable with the role? He's being asked to play but he's also a little bit better understood in terms of his his pros cons so I think his pros like his writing style and I was very confused. Year old uh-huh see now you got me. Sorry the pros in his games and the cons and his games are better. Well Understood stood among the coaching staff. And I think it's being utilized a lot better not to say that it was poorly used but I think the more you see him play the more you see a regular shift out of of him. The more you're going to see guy us a little bit more of that offensive. You know side to his game and I think the the chemistry itself is is slowly working its way out for a solid third deeper. I don't WanNa do I don't want to rely on fancy stats. I'm I will be the first one to point out out that Oh shoot Jay helped me out. He was these European defenseman Christian air. Hof Thank you Christian Erhan Program. Yes he had great fancy stats and my my God. If.

"They're just not that good so I get over like I'm not great teams in my opinion are measured by consistency and I think the consistency with the kings is all over the map. I think you have Kobe. Who is extremely consistent doughty US extremely consistent? Jonathan quick who has become exce- consistent but you don't have a consistent assistant second line you don't have a consistent third line and you don't have a consistent Fort Line other than Kyle Clifford. You don't have a consistent third e pair and again. Jonathan quick has is become consistent. But it's been all over the map late not lately but all year long so I think that's where the kings show their inability to become up playoff team right now. I think you have campaign. Who played the game of his life or at least of the year let alone career? Probably and then you had Lozad who look great and you had Third Third Player on the line. Blanking on it thank you Wagner thank you Joseph Joseph of everybody So that line. If they can become consistent you know to the point where we saw him tonight appoint a game or plus Of At least a plus in the game. That's where things can change become a little bit more difficult to handle in terms of opposition. Only trying to handle the kings kings so I I just I don't see it right now. And the depth itself is is a concern unless we're proven wrong in terms of the a young guy stepping up sooner than we expect. WanNa fight about Roy and Ryan. But that's a that's a conversation for another day Dave Joseph I mean it was Sorta gone over everything. But let's talk about Adrian Campaign your perspective on his speed from ice level. He looked really fast tonight. Yup He looked really good tonight. Maybe the best game I've seen in place since he's been in kings uniform correct Had A bunch of chances had a golden and assist but had a bunch of chances. That just missed How how close was the overtime shot? It didn't miss much. Thank you didn't Esi was like I hate that shot in do hate that she was inches. Yeah I hope was that fee I thank you I mean it was. I could see it like just mess. I was like look so. But he's a speed again like when he put it all together when he uses his speed and he right eight. He's the tools. Are there all the tools. Are there just a matter of putting it all together but he looked really good tonight. And I think you're right. The lozad line played a good game tonight. Nominal they held the puck in the in the other teams zone for probably close to a minute at one point and I think the Carter Line came out after that and held a good team effort to come back act the way they did. They rallied against a good team. A team that's been hot lately so that was good to see. They could've packed it in and said that's it were right. We're going home. We're GONNA get blown out five. Nothing and they didn't so that was good to see The obviously you want the win and you had the power play in overtime. He couldn't convert on that. That's an issue with the party's been in an issue all season the other not. I thought you know you take the point in the game like this against a team. That's been playing well lately. Yeah I was. You know you don't want you don't want to say l.. Take the point. Yeah you would love to and you had the power plan you could have buried it in over a couple of power-play chances late in the game with two men and then the the penalty going into overtime overtime. But I don I mean for San Jose and how San Jose has been plane over the past five six ten games even that. This is a pretty pretty good effort considering yeah the way. We framed this at the outset. was that ordinarily. I'd be thrilled at this effort and I'd be skipping home and Lala but I had a really bad weekend and I've watched this third period from from the Stanford from the three hundred with the fans was cheering and clapping and I really wanted that win. pissed they lost. I hear you. So that's all that and I read your tweet. They were Yelling shoot in three three. Seven scored scored assist three seventeen like moral the story. Listen to three seven. That's right seventeen smart section so Re Sixteen though we're just GONNA jump straight to the play the game player of the game So Dave from ice level pled start with the play of the game. I Guess Wou- play of the game How about the I'M GONNA say it's Copay toggle to those game. Tying goal rate sates the Copenhagen Mole. That was my play the game. I thought that was a good play. Obviously to get the tie at that point of the game when they could've packed it in I say on Guitar Tenth of the season was play of the Game Jack. I'll take the chemical because I'm going to say it's the start of something new. Yeah I'M GONNA I'M GONNA break down the campaign legal even to the past the first pass. Yeah the I pass by kept us right because Dick Loathe your no look behind the back and I even even said last game like no more. They've reached allotment. But Davis is saying Jack earlier Campaign not only looked Talented not only looked fast. It's not only looked competent. But he looked confident in a way that I haven't really seen and as I said Jackie earlier the phrase. I never want to hear again. Is that camping. Needs the center of the ice to play his game. Said I said I don't even know what that means. I just heard everybody say it over and over again so I just stopped thinking I was like I wanted to raise my hand and go what the first time but then somebody else. That is like all right. Well I guess I'm just an idiot. Looks like he's finding his way he looks like he's gotTa Pass. I just thought it was great and I I do on your own goal. Yeah that would be like they said the assist to Lozad and Wagner House like why did Wagner touch the puck at some point okay. That was all company Sorry let's go ahead and do the player of the game. I think it's gotta be anonymous. I think it definitely anonymous Adrian Kempe. Yeah I mean he looked I. I can't tell you how good he looked from base level. Tonight he was he was everywhere. He offensive and defensive everywhere tonight. You say he was the head of the game tonight. The Toyota Tacoma top of the game was Adrian Campaign. I don't know that I've ever said that before. That's pretty according to John Stevens. He likes big hockey so Or heavy hockey. I keep calling a big thing. Different a different person. But this is no disrespect to Lozad but Adrian campaign played so well that Adrian Lozad it looks better so Adrian Lewis I blake. Lozad looked better Because they played so. Because you know I agree. Well you linemates look make you look better. Yeah well especially. I don't WanNa get like granular about stuff that I have no idea what I'm talking about but Blake Lozad is a sticking granular. Is the tiny guy so he can only only be helped if his linemates are drawing attention away from him sure dominating possession and campaign did that and more space and time. That lozad has to not doc get creamed by somebody to figure than him the better. Yeah like I'm not trying to insult like Lazar Reilly. He earned his spot genetic but he is foot seven and some of these things are six hundred four like he's one of the few guys also that that in you don't see this very much in the NHL He. He ties the skates. He wraps his skate. Laces around on the back of his skates. I did that when I write. Ron Slid time there are some guys who do it. And I thought he'd be the only guy but I've been watching some games recently and I was like well that guy does it to you. Don't see very often. Were guys. Take the long laces and wrap back around for like extra. I don't know if it's actually support. I never did it. I guess when I was like Tan. Why did it well when I play the bronze level roller yeah? I just was afraid of tripping on my laces you know you can buy shorter laces the thought who has the time or the money. Exactly all right. I think that is GonNa do it. Live rivals less time talking in the media. Sorry not listen just to get all sappy again Thanksgiving's coming up and you know appreciate create the people you love them because they won't always be here so That's that I'll say it again on Wednesday so for Dave Jack appreciate us. Is that what you're saying I do and we I appreciate your at least I do. I can't speak for a second happy Thanksgiving and we appreciate you guys being actually listening. We'll be back probably with one more for for Thanksgiving but if not happy Thanksgiving and we'll talk some Algal..

"On the wing and tonight yet looked confident. Never mind effective never mind skill. There was a confident is game that pass that he sent back to Lozad that you know the give go. He did did with Assad to set up. His own. Goal was great ordinarily also those kind of past. Well it's also a play that wingers do wingers. It's it was a mini cycle cycle. But the the Telepathy let alone just the ability to to circle and go straight and hard to the net knowing that you have step on your a defender is. It's a winger moved. Just because that's how people tend to get open on the wing and it looked great. Not only did. Was it effective in terms of scoring goal But you're right the wing side for campaign and I've said this as long as I've talked about camping is he's aware and it just GonNa take time and you know maybe tonight right. It clicked and hopefully on Wednesday at clicks and Saturday as well but or Friday. I think we have a game too. But that's besides the point. What is the point is that you can pay? I believe the assets that he has shown and the skills that he provides our winger like skills and the ability to score goals as the ability to make plays And most importantly to be able to put the puck in the net. And that's exactly what you've done the first goal and that's exactly what he was doing all all night long his entries on the power play. I finally get that play. You hate it so much but it works and you gotta go with US understand. It's almost like both teams have preagreed before the game. They're like okay. Okay when you're on the power play we understand that you'll send a decoy forward into into the neutral zone. With moderate speed. will all pair up four pairs across the line. And then you'll drop the puck thirty feet behind you and allow the real puck carrier to get to zones where the speed and we won't try stopping awesome will just be engaged. In our little waltzing pairs along the Blue Light. It's like it was choreographed on both sides and so I don't know what was going on. Tonight he entered the zone effectively. He if if he couldn't carry it across he passed to somebody who's open because the Walton pairs broke down somehow to But I dare they. I wanted to point out something you did tonight. Late in the first period a member of the Kings Upper management approached us. And we were talking and you ask because gangs trump power play in Adrienne Kennedy was receiving passes. And you said as Adrian Cambay. Have you ever seen him score on a one time and we all said no and then within like I. I don't know ten seconds of you asking that question. He got set up with a perfect one time. We didn't score cave real close. You did and we all say that would have been amazing but then his goal all while not a one timer one touch. I mean it was effectively the same thing yeah. It was impressive because the reason I asked that is he's been in the US is on the side of the power play where you're receiving one-timer it's he took to on that first power play and look good. I just said I don't recall ever seeing score one timer. So is this going to work. And you know though it didn't it kind of did in the second period with a minute in one second remaining but you know it was it was as night so tonight should have been the night that he had a one timer and while I'm not going to qualify his goal as a one timer. I will say that you know regardless you know for the sake of him keep doing it because whatever he had going today worked and whatever where he had in his mind of being aggressive it paid off largely for the Kings now powerplay stats are weird animal and I I suppose we probably spend too much attention on given how weird they are..

"Tonight announcer. I don't know how you pronounce his name. Leandra Seidel cleft which Guy Ha IRA. That's so you're welcome change. I went ahead. And chinks the oilers by loading up on them in Van Penalty. Count for anything to get it. But I feel like I contributed but three stars of the game plus Plus Three for Jesse three game. Doughty Jesse Martino not numbered Quick and quick now I hope it's our and Jeff Card Bank. You wanted to say Jack. He'll be right back where we want him to be to tonight. Music Story yes down ause right all right so tired. Foley has himself a good night. I mean it was really hard to identify anybody that had a quote unquote bad night Johnny quick the office continues. His strong looks good. Looks Great I mean. It wasn't a shutout. Connor mcdavid scored. Y- sat out Saturday's scratch straight into way in Thursday's in Saturday's today's loss on Monday. Yeah I mean I think that that's that's where they need to go and they also need to when when we talk about speed. I mean in in Wagner's defense. Big blast from Andrzej copays are Dave. I mean for good that Co Petar is. I mean. I've been like you you know. Obviously many many times up in the press box told him to shoot the bus when he doesn't but at no point has had a lying pug waiting for him just delay into his team team goes. I've said it before. This team goes his Co. Tacos. Yeah so copay big night..

"Thousand fourteen two thousand twelve Jonathan quick. I think it's good on the Kings because the first game back from a road trip. I don't care what anyone says. It is the toughest and to come back. A lot of teams come back and they lay the first game back right. I mean come back off the road. You're back with your family. Get back swinging things brother. You don't tell me. I played bronze Lebron's level choir. I know so. I thought it was good. That came out the way they did. They scored I which is great to see because it doesn't happen often. I end early. I and early. Yeah ten seconds. I thought it was good. Good team effort tonight. I think the way they scored. I'm also positive about both plays sort of having the same way your your veteran's center right Qatar. Does it first Carter does later. They win the face off. You know it gets to an open. Man Takes the shot and the guy who on the face off scores down in the dirt. Quarter Gordon the dirty areas so the fact that the wingers some of the young guys after or blue open shots again. We talked about at least autumn. But the but you're Carter's in your copay tires on the game to neck running down the list going into this game. Cope Qatar with five goals Brown undoubtedly before harder to fully walker and global chuck with three. Each that's not good enough right like I don't WanNa be that guy who's maybe the pays for fifty one hundred percent and you know you say what you want about especially after the start that they got off to just six to five every game them. Boy Loyd we off the wagon. Yeah so all right player of the game but I think it's important so again no I just think it's important. That the veterans get goals right like cohorts are can't be scoring five goals at the twenty. No that's what they carry the team. They have to carry the team young players to carry the team. They had to up. Gary thanks veterans. That's exactly where you saw the success two years ago and Co Petar was in the MVP race and then last year when he had what twenty goals. Maybe so all right Dave player of the story play. We're GONNA start with play the game play of the game play of the game. I would say the play of the game is the Jeff Carter goal which put the Kings on top and put them on top for good. It was a big goal at the time they made it to to nothing game. Jeff Carter goal in the dirty area. Like you said down near the crease. That's my play of the Game Jack. A second that I'm flirting it while it's anonymous there's really two on goals scored yes. I'm picking it mainly because hope it's hard school while not not that it's getting less work than Jeff Carter's but he's sort sort of tapped in a loose puck goalmouth whereas Carter actually had to take the extra step of this great to see a draw which nothing is significantly special for Carter are you wins draws all the time but going to the finishing. Yeah it's not something we've seen in the last journey. I had the chance earlier. Eddie mass late in the Jesse looked at me and said who is that. Just missed it and I go Carter Order and he goes. Yeah that makes us in good that he has the open his mind. You hit the post. So what are you gonNA. Oh you did okay so I didn't know until like the second period but anyway Good points layer of the game player of the game. I'm torn on this one but I'm going to say that it's the goaltender Jonathan Quick Awesome. Yeah I just think he played too well tonight in an automatic. Yeah absolutely. Yeah and I'm GonNa say this Kyle Clifford. I thought he would have been. He's he's like one eight one. B One BS Liguori in that conversation before I get into my ludicrous statement about Jonathan. Kay how dare that referee. He Give Kyle Clifford a penalty early in the first period when he was shoveling the Minnesota Wild Guy. Hey like it's the kings versus the wild. It's it's GONNA be boring. What are you doing? Yeah but yeah jazz it up something to walk you know. We're watching that down in the box. It was it was at the face off outside outside the Blue Line and all the guys in the boxer like they're going yeah they're going third going Hartman Talking Hartman played them. Yeah they were talking and then cliff. He looked at them and gave them the shove. Now in the game the one extra one and that's when he got it. But how dare you right now. I now dairy Justin saint-pierre now my now my outrage was. APD Alexa talks more about Jonathan. Quake this was a shutout. That goal bounced off that you even pointed it out to me off of. Yeah I think Clinton yeah below in both of his legs when inside shouldn't pet on both both of his legs so there's nothing you can ask a goaltender out. I don't care it's a one goal shutout show. That's how that's right that's right so is the three nothing went. Yeah we'll start as I'm concerned. Okay that works so there you go simple times player of the game Jonathon quick. I think that's going to wrap this one up We will be back. I'll be back on Thursday. I don't know but these guys Yup and listen stay tuned. There will be Ilya Kovalchuk. We'll check news. John John Rosen. I are planning on talking about tomorrow's that'll be available not tomorrow but the next one. You're listening to this. It'll be tomorrow but for for me right now. It'll be two to anyway whatever. Thanks for listening talkies..
"kings" Discussed on All The Kings Men
"And say will you can nitpick anything obviously the remind US won a game that was one zero but you know the third line slash the if you look at third line deeper and a third line you're slow fourth line offense with pair and they go minus one in the game that's that's okay but that's where you have to expect line one in line to to go plus plus too that's what they get paid for that's why you know they're making X. millions of dollars and you know more times than not you'd hope that that is the case and originally tonight it wasn't and because of it zero points for kings two points for Carolina yeah and I mean it's it's just really difficult to criticize anything other than a lack of goalscoring and that's a that's a team wide criticism well the power play didn't look great no well the there are weapons on this team and the first power play unit today was I guess not what I technically or really expected with the personnel it was a little bit rollover and and I mean it in the sense that when you'll get chemistry and you look at the weapons of the Kings have not all of them are out there together and I think you know the chemistry offer at least the the movement whether it was Carolina's penalty kill or the kings themselves shooting themselves in the foot that's to be determined time to build you know that without having to even think about it at someone's in this place with the other guys in this bison when you switch personnel and you constant we do it that's when things get a little bit more interesting in the frustration can build solely because of the numbers at one point you asked me and I won't say which player but at one point you asked me you know are they are they playing him more minutes to try and boost his trade value and last game Dave and I had a similar conversation about because the kids are few and far between and they are for the most part.
