Joe Biden; The Most Corrupt President in American History
"Promo code prager. Thank you, Dennis, and it's always a privilege. It never gets old, and it's never unappreciated. Dennis is unique, and there's no one else I'd rather fill in for. Many years ago, actually this house started many years ago Dennis said to me, you know, those are pretty big shoes for you to fill in for. Me, meaning his size. What does that Sean a size 12 size 13? What is this where? I don't even know. But he didn't mean his shoes were so big, right, he meant just, well, maybe he did because he told me I thought 12 or 13, I may be totally wrong. We've got to find that out. But big shoes they are because no one in the media is quite like him, including offering the inside he does in so many issues. So I just try to give you my perspective on life and issues and maybe one of these days my own podcast. You know, with all the teaching and everything else I do, it's been hard to get it going, but we will at some point. In this first hour I talked about whether we need a new Declaration of Independence to take back our country from the left. In this hour I want to talk about the specific charges against the king, because I said, right, the founders revolted rebelled against the king of England. As they seek to control our lives and make us into their left wing utopia. That's what they're doing. But if this is important, if you understand their ultimate goal, they're specific policy disasters, make more sense. You think they failed because they don't work. But they think they succeeded because they've created chaos and disorder. Just as with the policies of the king of England, so many years ago. But of course, Joe Biden is no king. He doesn't have a set of principles and he never did. Actually has one set of principle. That's the grow his principle. If you don't mind the pun. He might be the most corrupt president we've ever had. In any case, he's actually more of a placeholder for the left than anything else. And Kamala Harris, my God. Is she over her head? She must have always want to power to make up for her insecurities, of which there must be many. That's my guess. I'm no psychologist. Sean, do you remember the Peter principal? He's looking at me funny. He's just doesn't look that way. Of course. A quizzical look. It was the Peter principal said that you're doing your job well and then they promote you to the higher job and that's where you fail because you were very good at what you did before, but you're not so good in a promoted role. In my other field as a teacher, you wouldn't believe how many bad a system principles and principles there are. They might have been very good teachers. That's kind of what the Peter principal was. But she was an awful senator if you remember that. And an awful attorney general before that. I think Dennis even debated her once. But yes, you know what she was? A good friend of former speaker of the California assembly, Willie Brown. Actually, I don't know if she was a good friend, Willie Brown. You'd have to ask Willie Brown, right? We don't even know if she was Sean, why are your eyes going like cross eyed? You're not saying anything. Neither am I. But we never checked lily Brown about that. It's hard to believe, though, that these are the highest office holders in our country. They're an embarrassment to our country. But again, they're clearly being controlled by the left. Whether it's Obama, that's my guess, is people or other leftists. Do you remember the event weeks ago where Obama came back? I guess for the first time to visit The White House. And he comes back and everybody's around him and he's up mister terrific. And Joe Biden wandered around looking for someone to say hello to hip, just to say, now that was pathetic to watch. I almost felt sorry for him as bad as he is as corrupt as he is. But of course you have to ask this question. Why does Biden's wife and I kind of hinted at it in the first hour, she must be so obsessed with power to have ever cared about protecting her husband's dignity. What about his dignity? You can say, well, if your mean, you say you'd never had any. But in fact, that defines all of them seeking power to make up for their shortcomings as people. That's what I guess. They seek power to define themselves, especially power over other people. That's my best guess. Let me know what you think. One 8 prager 7 7 6. And it includes people on our side, too. Like Mitt Romney, if I had a guess, if you remember his father didn't do well running for president, I forgot the incident that happened on not going to say he cried or something that would have been, that was Mike dukakis, I think, of Massachusetts, but there was something, and all of a sudden he failed miserably in his quest for the presidency. So my guess is Mitt Romney's avenging for his father's undignified loss of the presidency. But, you know, I've apologized. Many times for being a delegate for it. He fooled me too for a while. But Dennis said he met with him and he didn't care about principles. Yeah, that makes sense. And Liz Cheney. Oh my God. Trying to preserve, I guess her father's legacy, whatever that was. If anything, she's tarnished what, with many of her pronouncements, she's tarnished what people thought about her dad, Dick Cheney. I suspect that all these people have deep personal problems, and I never feel that they care what is best first for our country. That they care best first, what's best for them. But they are part of the leftist cabal, whether they know it or not. What did the Russians call them useful idiots? So back to the charges. We had charges against the king and I mentioned in the first hour that's what the Declaration of Independence was about. So what are our charges begin with against this would be president. The stealing of the presidency. They never accepted Trump's victory, and they were willing to stop at nothing to make sure he lost. Including, as you know, the Russian hoax, what, two years impeachments, and the banning from social media. And now they have lawsuits against him and other enemies. Anybody who had anything to do with them. These people have no moral guard rails, except to win at all costs. That's it. And I said in the first hour, they're likely 20 anomalies over 20 that had to happen for Trump to lose. But they did win and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are in office because of blatant fraud. As the movie 2000 mules demonstrates pretty well itself. So, mister king Biden, our first charge you never should have been declared king because you ascended to the throne illegally. How many of you, you can call me one of the prager 7 6 7 7 6? How many of you listeners like me still cringe when they call on President Biden? I still have trouble with that. It's like calling the person who stole your house, the homeowner. And to add insult to injury, the king had his Justice Department, as you know, throw innocent people into jail, summoned to solitary confinement, as I mentioned, because of January 6th, and they call it an insurrection. I love that. That was an insurrection. I don't think so. Riff raff and all kinds of people maybe, but insurrection, I don't think so. Of course, your edicts at the very beginning like ending our pipelines and drilling the ending of drilling for fossil fuels and discouraging just the scourge leases, just the other week I think it was. But it's part of your plan, see, that's what I said. You got to understand what they're up to. That's their plan to destroy capitalism and markets that we're working here. To this day, even in light of high gas prices, you continue this policy as part of the Green New Deal. And that's going to help destroy our country. So what do they do? They printed a lot of money to assuage the peasants doing my analogy with the king with your trillions of dollars in giveaways. It's a way to make them more dependent on your government. When you make people give them money then they start to depend on the government. It makes me think of a story when I first started teaching. I think it was a fourth grade kid. He's running around the school building wildly. It wasn't my student. And I finally caught up to him. I said, you know, what are you going to do with this? What are you going to do with your life? In fourth grade, he said to me, I'll go on welfare. His family must have been on welfare. He already knew that term. That was his dream, I guess, or that's what he had hoped. So that's what you do with the printing and money. And as you know, with inflation at a control, it won't be long before your Marie Antoinette, Kamala Harris, says let them eat cake. Sean, you do remember Marie Antoinette? In history, if nothing else, Dennis did not debate Marie Antoinette. You don't have to look that up. Debate between Dennis Murray. But of course, I'm confused in two different revolutions. But a revolution we have on the streets through your defunding of the police, you're just less department allowing the left to right and commit mayhem to scare, get this now, the masses into needing your protection. That's what's going on. And of course, we know that the DA's all across this country funded by George Soros of letting them out. I read a story the other day. They can't get police in many cities. Who would want to be a policeman these days? You lock sum it up. They're out in jail before you could even say boo. And just like Putin protesting his liberation of Nazis in the Ukraine, that was a justification. You come up with this phony white supremacy, as the number one problem in our country, and the reason for the crackdown of our civil liberties. I can see all these juxtapositions with what you're doing and with communism and dictatorship. A long, of course, with charges about America being a white supremacist country because you use race baiting at every chance because you have nothing else.

Naomi Wolf on How Government Is Taking Its Eye off the Ball
"That forcing people to wear masks, getting them to surrender their information. There is something deeply creepy about this. What you just said about China wanting to be the repository of all medical information. I don't know what could be more staggering and we can have leaders completely out of touch. I mean, if you have any humanity, you'd say, wait a second. What do you make of our governmental leaders taking their eye off this ball? I can't comprehend it. I mean, it's pretty depressing to answer that. Klaus Schwab boasted to the Kennedy school at Harvard recently that he had placed World Economic Forum alumni in governments around the world and that half of Canada's government were World Economic Forum alumni and you saw what happened in Canada. They declared martial law, a puppet Trudeau declared martial law when the citizens were engaging in their constitution in their charter of rights protected freedom of speech, the truckers. So what I make of it is that there is like the nation state has always been a source of discomfort to oligarchs and kings, right? Because since 1848 in Europe and earlier than that in the United States, a nation state with clear boundaries and I've got a chapter on the nation state in my book, it's hard to suppress, right? Because the people can say we're citizens, we have rights, we have foundational documents that legally protect our rights and they can repel transnational suppression or tyranny. So what's happened in the last 5 or ten years? And I also go into detail about this. I come from that world. You come from that world. You may have been ejected earlier because you're a conservative and a person who speaks openly about faith, but I was ejected only when I began doing this reporting a couple of years ago. And in our milieu, there is a global elite who really don't bear any sense of responsibility to their fellow Americans or fellow French people or fellow British people. They really are responsive to other global

Why Kash Patel Authored Children's Book 'The Plot Against the King'
"The legendary and the great cash Patel. I'll tell you what, I get more cash Patel alerts from people. They're sending me stuff and you're very famous man cash. Charlie, I'm trying to keep up with you in the efforts you're putting out. Yeah, I mean, you were on Maria show yesterday, right? Recently, right? Yeah, Devin and I, she thought it would be fun to have Devin and I, the Russia gate guys on for the day before the Russia gate trial. Yeah. So I want to get into that. You have a new book out called the plot against the king. It's a book, right? It's a children's book. Oh, this will drive crazy. So basically what we thought was, yeah, it's called the plot against the king. And look, we said it in medieval times, and we thought they're shoving critical race theory down our children's throats and don't use. Why don't we educate our children about the truth? Yes. And the biggest story of our generation, Charlie, is the Russia gate hoax. And no one's teaching our kids about it. So we had this idea to say, let's set it in medieval times. We'll have a king named Donald. We'll have Hillary Clinton. The maga king. The maga king. He played right into it. I mean, we could set it up any better. We've got Hillary Clinton and the shifty night. And of course, the night of the round table, Devin. And it's our question. It's our quest for truth and the simple issue is, why shouldn't we educate our children on what actually happened in Russia gate? It's for anyone foreign up and honestly, adults should get up. But we don't know all of it yet. We don't know all of it, but that's why we can write a part too. Oh, there'll be a sequel. So it's called, it's called plot against the king. And you can go to plot against the number one child's book right now in on Amazon. And we haven't even technically. That's a tough category. I'll tell you what. Joe Biden Just Gave Us the Ultimate Meme-Able Moment
"Another hard work and man in the conservative movement joins us now. It is the meme lord himself Benny Johnson, host of the left can't meme on parler. So Betty, welcome to the Charlie Kirk show. Thank you. And listen, Andrew, it has just been raining from heaven, memes, the sun king is back the maga king is back and Joe Biden gave them to us. It's incredible. Are they thinking? I know. I had to have you on the show today. As soon as I as soon as I caught wind of this meme moment, the ultimate memeable moment from Joe Biden cut one O 9, I'm going to play it for you, Benny, and I want your instant reaction at one O 9. They're dead wrong. Under my predecessor, the great maga king, my predecessor, the maga king, yes. The maga king. All right, meme lord. What have we seen the aftermath here? So the way that a meme starts is you have a moment, a viral moment, viral news story that is grounded in truth and it's something that happens, but you have to kick it off, right? There has to be a spark that

"king " Discussed on King Tyravian Paranormal
"Hello, everybody, and welcome to king tura's paranormal. What we're going to talk about all kinds of things Supernatural, scary stories from Reddit and more tune in. Today's story is called paper street haunting. And this was posted on Reddit by Bern Schmidt. Whip out any further ado. Let's get started. When moving all of our things and during the day, really be wise and such an unsavory neighborhood, a bad neighborhood, Jacqueline cried snidely, at what she perceived to be her husband's intentionally a snarky eloquence. I hate it when you talk like that. Like what? I don't know. Greg snickered arrogantly. Not even you know what you meant by it. I know what I meant. You're above the rest of us. You're as blue collar as anyone else around here. She wasn't wrong. They both came from virtually the same place, miles apart, and yet an impossibly tiny puncture wound on a U.S. map, injected with the drug of mediocre complacency. Isn't that everyone he thought in silence? Can I never be something more? The break squealed as they pulled alongside the curb at four one four paper street. A day of fast moving waves of metallic silver clouds, a thin mess scraping the sparse tree tops and telephone poles and tickling droplets of chilly autumn rain. There was almost nothing alluring about it. It was, after all, started home, but it jutted from the soggy grass like an eyesore. Its presentation, the placement of the second floor windows, uneven pains by the weight dividing wood slats, rolling up in the sockets like the eyes of annoyed parents or were spilled milk. The front door carved into what appeared to be teeth and the stark absence of any bushes or shrubbery save for some unattended weed growth, chin whiskers, though worn despondently dull red bricks and white sills. The gutters piling with wet leaves smattering drippings of accumulated water down the side dancing and flipping to the ground naturally gracefully splashing into puddles on the drab rectangular concrete slabs, forming the walkway to the front and around back, soaking into the cracks.

"Looked for this. You can go back and re listen to our our thoughts on the queer rapin later. I think it was phenomenal. There's no contest here because buick eight was in some ways a warm up for books later you know. A key he grew from his writing is experience. In some ways. I think make later A really solid example of why people who say that king peaked in the eighties are super wrong. Just incredibly incorrect. And you can take that to them. Thank walter bang bang bang. He wants to bite more. Let him even if it draws a little blood. let's give walter taste free flash. The blood is full. The iron that you need so bad. I don't have to give supplements anymore my god. I'm of mine source so pause here This is threatening steve I'm going to say each of these jokes and phoenix. You're going to tell me if they're in good enough taste to keep it. Says this is dr sleep versus the institute in round three child endangerment or objection junction. Okay the pinnacle problematic. Whichever joke those all make it in if not. I'll just bleep them. If editing steve is like i don't know about that favorites. The first yeah. That one's pretty good all right. Listen jokes aside. These books that deal with some heavy heavy heavy stuff. They're also kind of their different looks. The same modern fears about once a month. Think of children's stephen king's officially gotten old enough to start thinking that way. He's seen generations. Grow and learn and be influenced by the world and they're both kind of about that in some interesting ways. The institute was released. You need to know this. After and written during a crisis in america where thousands and thousands of children from other countries were interred in low quality horrible prisons and concentration camps at the united states in mexican. Border like that deals with that topic. It's a much. It's a much more timely book for me than doctors sleep. Dr sleep is contemplative. The institute feels urgent..

"That's a very good omen. Do you need to pause. And take care of that. He he should join at a while. I want him to have his prize. If he's gonna keep catching these messy gross right without any ado. This is the final steven king book club end of season battle. The books what. I like as we head into this i Pairing which is which is a really good pairing in one. That's going to be interesting to talk about. I like that. Our listeners can see the reason that we have to stop doing this in this episode. Like that it's like bothering my baby. I'm like it's for sure. So because her list listed super weird we don't have like a good number two full two sided bracket. We've got four books. They get pass first round books that were pretty much guaranteed to wipe the floor for us round one So our first level this bracket is like the the underdogs right. These are the ones that just based on preliminary whatever we did not like as much this season so they're all fighting their way in to heavy hitters club that brings us to round one multi-diverse mad. This is the dark tower series versus eleven. Twenty to sixty three competing to face off against by in revival. I love that wildcard. So let me immediately start. Wisdom notes here The supernatural elements and the unreality elements. Here are actually complementary in the stephen king verse on some of the rules are the same these two books and so what do you do with that. You have to start thinking about entertainment value. You have to start thinking about general like plot structure and like writing stuff and then you have to think about in the entire king system which is like more valuable to the group right definitely and now the other thing to consider here too is just raw enjoyment right for me. The dark tower series had some of our highest highs but also some of our lowest lows for the season and eleven twenty to sixty three was a book that we both enjoyed the first time..

"On hold on era haunt haunt hold on hold on home fuck shit. Fuck how jesus. Some of this has met author. Very sorry is mary findlay. Mary finlay This one i actually out now disagreed with. Excuse me i'm getting emotional about it. Disagreed with a lot of what is essay was arguing and you did not. And that's good actually. I think it's you want pieces in your collection that aren't going to be on controversial. You know you need you need things that are arguments in not just statements of fact because otherwise what you have is a collection of trivia. The thing that this collection is about is stephen king's escalating violence and violence against children in media. Dr sweep in particular being the apex of his comfortableness with depicting horrific acts against children Which is fine. That's not necessarily disagree. With what i did disagree with. Was there is an idea in this assay that this goes against something that he wrote and talked about in his essay guns which we talked about coddling first season in that essay. He talks about why he stopped allowing his novel rage to be printed because it was he felt contributing to school shootings Few school shooters had mentioned it as something that they identified with and so she writes about how his escalating violence kind of goes against that principle. But i think that it's more complicated than that. I don't really buy the idea that the depiction of violence is the issue in rage. And i think stephen king would agree with me. Here that rages a very specific narrative about school. Shootings were as dr sleep is not dark. Asleep is a narrative about entirely different thing. And there's really no evidence to suggest that dr sleep is inspiring people to become sadistic pedophile. Like there's no. I don't buy that So i this essay rubbed me the wrong way but i also someone who's resistant to the idea That violent media has a negative social impact in our culture right. And you and i've talked at length at length at. Yeah the more. I work with kids..

"Hits the ground unceremoniously I would have made a better true crime writer i think. Yeah but yeah so. I actually think that because of this tone success Our piece does not pale in comparison to the others. In this book i agree. I know it's going to sound like ego but it really does feel like an equal part of this collection. And i'm over the fucking moon about that. I cannot tell you how much That makes me feel good Yeah we put a lot of time and effort into it. And i hope that people will seek it out because i think it's a good s. I think it kinda rule if you like how we talk about people of color and women of color and how they are sometimes exploited and literature than. You're going to like this because we do that a lot. Speaking of which the next in this collection is called. Cujo the black man and the story of patty hearst by sarah nelson so something that i noticed about this collection of mentioned a few times. There's a lot of license to get into very specific aspect of each film to ours was really focused on the process of adapting. This essay was way into stephen king's interests and obsessions while writing. Cujo and i think it's really really cool and while done I don't have a great quote further. That but the confluence of stephen king interviews. Really bring the argument together. Because she's able to kind of put these out there things into the world and say and then here's stephen king talking about it and i really love that method. I liked that method to There's a couple of cool conclusions and links in this essay. Which just gives to show that you can talk about. Stephen king's work for thousands of people for hours and hours and hours. And there's gonna be stuff that you never would have considered the The one that stuck out for me was lincoln. Cujo and randall. Flagg thematically Which i'm not going to explain here because it took a bit of a of red wine on board to get there but it worked. And i was like hell fucking yes. That's amazing and of course i had heard the bambi to cujo line before about how violence against animals acts in these books. But what i hadn't heard is about this team of threatened masculinity in cujo idea that we have cheating wife right and cujo is like the weird masculine revenge on the cheating. Wife care like i It's funny how we talk a lot about. We have a whole section about animals in our show sometimes and this book. This essay comes right out swinging. It explains in case you haven't heard animal. Deaths hit so hard because peop- polls relationship people psychological relationship to animals acknowledges that we are also animals and then that brings up the sense of mortality. That is sometimes art equal to the deaths of human characters and having that just spelled right.

"Content warning we are literally discussing the concept of violence the entire episode so listener discretion is advised. I'm steven anderson now. And i'm phoenix crockett. And today. we're discussing violence in the films of stephen king. Which is a collection of essays edited by tony destroy and michael balloon and including an essay by the two of us. That's that's our plan for today. We're going to do the first seven and a fourteen again after by the book to get the low down on the other seven. Yeah we don't want to give we don't want to give away too much. I give away everything. You wanted to tease. Give them give them a little pullback. Give him a pullback. You know. Leave them wanting more this. That's my podcasting philosophy. This is in these stephen king boop cannon the earliest recorded ever episode seven thirty in the morning on a sunday because that's when schedules worked out so good morning. Good morning vietnam. "But fucking wikipedia pages on stephen king anything especially ones that don't have a movie or a travesty. Dorks get out there. I can't do it. I run a podcast. That's i've done my time. Wow i'm on lake. So i take the wikipedia. It was sparse. I checked the wikki. It was sparser. Yup it was worse. Oh my god you weren't kidding. Yeah it's because the vast majority of king fans are older and don't dude. Are you know which you know. I guess it's fair. I don't fucking do it either now. I'm on good. Reads trying to see if anyone mentioned. I'm ninety percent. Sure his name is bill. I'm the other thing before we just shoot ourselves. Further in the foot here is i. Actually the other day loves buttons. Omnia was that it also be. Yeah are you. Flew like helen. The principal character. Who you know in her story. You know the they intact. The story was her husband. He and she fled to a women's shelter. And it's this kind of slow realization. That ralph has at like oh. Helen is no longer going to be looking for men. And especially because there's that other character from the women's shelter. I can't remember her name either but there is some tricky bits in there were just like. Oh yeah. she's a lesbian and she's clearly like the man heating guy like that of noxious but it's just close enough you're sitting. You're the the thing that's hard about. Stephen king is that he doesn't he doesn't pull punches from his characters. If his character would think or say something problematic. Stephen king does not stop them from doing so as a writer which is tricky. Because then you you run into wall. Are you encouraging this behavior. Because it's coming from the protagonists etc etc. I also does a character in the dark tower. That is we need to gush about a bad guy random. So yes we we will talk about my fave and yours callahan. But i wanna talk real briefly about what i think is ultimately my king representation which is like a random tie. Heen like just dude who is killed in thirteen. Yeah is like just like a dude. He basically in work you know. He's kind of a different species doesn't he needs a marie. So here's a furry. I'm i'm talking about in absolute minute character. I don't think he has a name. It is a does this or are you talking about the one who's kind of gave for the night run school. Let me bring you there. Sorry okay i'll hush go on this journey with you. There is a random mook. I think he's unnamed. Don't know.

"Is a dividing tactic. So let's talk about queer history in relationship to stephen king. I do wanna like make sure that we keep bringing it back to king yes. Stephen king has been writing long enough that the culture around queasiness has shifted dramatically like really really significantly over time and you can see it shakeout in his writing. Yeah starting with kerry kerry is an interesting book to me. Because i think there's a really you could read kerry white as queer varies oi. You could one hundred percent. A generous reader kerry can take some of the body. You focus in the writing. That king has that people often read as horny grossman thinking about naked high scores which is unfortunately not a read out of the realm of possibility gauge in the state of things. Yeah but carries obsession with her body and lack of understanding of what it does and interest in other young women's bodies reads as really really queer to those of us who were not thinking of cleaners has an option when we grew up. So i remember starting sports in high school and thinking that i just had an academic interest in other men. Would i would tell my friends like man like. Did you see that guys. But and they'd be like. I wasn't looking at his but and i was like. Yeah me neither i wouldn't. That's not where. I was looking at all Man you tie that to the religious extremism that tortures her and her outsider status and already aah kerry we get fertile fertile ground for a queer. Read mcqueen queer interest in stephen king. Yeah it ain't smooth sailing though. It is not I'm going to be very honest. Even my cat has been door driving. You seen so i'm running. I've been listening i've been. I've been running around the laser pointer to get her to. That's and so. I haven't had the chance to percolate my own thought. That's fine i again. I'm coming at this from more of a gender identity angle. Sure i've mentioned this to you. Before is that. I read fire-starter when i was probably a little bit young to read fire starter. Get rid of when. I was like ten or eleven. The i wasn't even thinking about trying to shit yet. Like like i was who. I was in my tiny little child body and i think i mentioned this. It's really not like a significant chunk of the book but it's the part like stuck out to me because at that time. Are you definitely main. Queer thing i had seen. My young huge was kinky boots. Amazing referring to for we continue forward. Oh i'm so sorry. So there's a scene in firestarter with one of the characters again like my memory of the is actually quite sparse. I believe the detectives or police officer characters appreciate he dies he puts on his wife's clothes and then shoves his hand down a garbage. This oh that's right. Yes so there is a some sort of shadowy government authority figure who is psychically influenced to commit suicide by.

"I think one thing here right. I guess it's two things happening at once Hand it's like you've talked about several times on the show so far nantz episode but the show in general which is that you know. Evil in does itself right. Evil cannot maintain the what in a basic way right so even though he's put all this work into you know producing a child He that can be undone just as quickly right. And i i mean god. It's just a stephen king thing to have that produced by a woman nagging him too much. Thank a good god but on the other hand. Something that we didn't talk about earlier. Is that i think it's stu who says that. Most of the world's nerds are going to go to rainbow flag. And so they so he knows that that vegas believes that vegas is going to have electricity. They're gonna have like computational power i they're going to be able to get the military bases up and running again and all that is true. I mean students correct that all the nerds did go to rainbow flag. But so so. I think that what's being presented here. Right is that that. The thrust of rhino flags desire here is to recreate the world as it was You know the the potential rebirth of our new birth of An american myth in an innocent america comes only from the colorado free zone or whatever it is the boulder free zone can't ever come from rainbow flag. And so i think that that. I this is too thin to be the intent. But the practicality the reality of the novel is such that the big world that that everyone lived in before the plague was undone by the hubris ingred of the technocrats empower right corrupt politicians. Whatever randall flagg is undone by the exact same thing except for in place of the state you know in in place of the military industrial complex. There's just one dude..

"She's kind of carried by the winds of fate. And she has no position toward randall. Flagg at all yeah right. She's just period. yes she's just like. Oh it's just it's him right This totally weird devotion to just like the possibility of him even as i dunno anyway. That happens she is rendered catatonic by the experience because It's it's a a really gross. Stephen king sex scene that is also a rape and like is not human And we get implications about that and it just. She's out of the book essentially but she is pregnant. So the interesting thing about this whole thing too. Is that That that randall. Flagg his relationship to nadine is also. This whole thing is fucked up. I guess i'm saying right because we don't really have an understanding of like why he wants to have a child because this is failures right like this is the whole thing. Here's that both of these characters. Even though he's extremely powerful both of these characters are carried on the winds of fate and the wind fade. Are stephen king. Decided this needed to happen in so this is just an excuse. I think i mean. I really do think that this just runs into an excuse to talk about like. You're saying the inhumanity randall. Flagg literally he's something other than human being and also stephen king's a horror writer. This is not a horror book like even remotely even a little bit. And this is the one scene where i would say that. The kind of gross violent You know a oppressive like there's no room to breathe in the scene This is worth stephen. King is stretching his legs as far as all of that kind of horror. Writing is concerned So e yeah i It doesn't fit in the novel but it also doesn't fit in the novel in the way that nadine entire plot doesn't fit in the novel You cut all this out and it would not change the rest of the book at all like even a little bit well in that sort of to the to the sort of like thing that i was uh Angling.

"The superfluid had had a little bit of the shining. It's interesting it's a. It's a science fiction novel because the shininess is science fiction and it's also a psychosis or related to psychosis from kerry. It's one thing no one's talking about. Stephen king is a science fiction author You should be So she draws them alter nebraska and then of moves them. Forward in explicitly sees her Connection with like the christian god. Yeah and that's where this book can get really interesting especially in terms of the larger stephen king mythology. Because i think it's possible to get through this and realize that these characters are constantly this recognizing as the christian. God something else entirely. Yeah i mean. I think that's exactly how i read it and i always like when when i read it. You know as a as a kid or whatever. Yeah i think i realized that then and it could be that. Maybe i'd read a dark tower or something beforehand The the thing that that i will say that you had your All my student experience. I had a similar online stephen king experience but for specifically tower fans that. We'll talk about when we get to the gunslinger at some point but But yeah i mean i. What's interesting to me is that this gets brought into this. Very christian in kind of american centric framework of how mother abigail understands her experience. How everyone talks about randall. Flagg but. I don't think that this is a particularly you know christian god and christian devil deal nia like i that these are forces beyond that i think or other than that maybe not beyond that but other than that and as you're saying i think it ties into the broader stephen king Metaverse or whatever that we'll talk about as we learn more about it as we read these novels Is anything else you wanted to sort of point out about mother abigail. I mean you. You said in a preview of the shining episode right that she is essentially the the miami minstrel stereotype. Yeah i mean she's What's interesting is. I think there's less of that in the uncut novel Because there's less of her in general or i'm sorry in the cut novel. Yeah oh yeah the. But yeah i mean the uncut novel ads. What like five or six scenes with her Yeah like the. I remember getting a lot more about sort of her life and her experiences. And some stuff about that like i remember more. I remember more about her alma. Yeah that's not. Yeah there's a lot of that kind of stuff. And of i mean i would say that vast majority of like the stuff that was restored are things that are either sex violence or Just stephen king gross stuff. He's just interested in like bowel movements. But but here we Yeah at all to say yes right like she. She exists to present a homey a safe location for the recreation of society It's no mistake. I think that when people when they get boulder and they're hanging out in colorado every time a new group comes in because there's hundreds more than these characters right..

"Yes because this is what his mother says is that you you you quote sound black And his his mother is sort of opportunity for stephen king to show us all of leg. The your traditional nineteen seventies grimy new york problems right the neighborhoods are bad. People are breaking windows of like. There's a lot of people who don't speak english in the neighborhood. Now that sort of thing and his mom's just kind of been soldiering along and let it comes back to see her in her kind of rundown apartment. I mean it's like the first time. I think he's seen her in. Maybe like ten years or something She she kind of has she's like. Oh god larry like what sort of trouble are you in that. You've come back to me. But she takes him in the less and I mean basically what this what this does is that this sets up a kind of weird edible thing that larry is going to work out throughout the rest of the novel. And i don't mean edible in the sense. That like larry clearly wants to sleep with his mom but more like he is aware that to some extent he abandoned his mother and bring coming back at this point makes him feel very very bad But at the same time he can't really bring himself to lake. Be good son whatever that might mean. He doesn't know what he can do to make it right and of course all of that is cut short anyway because the super flu comes in His mom dies as well as just about everyone else in new york. And you know like plague-ridden new york some of the coolest shit in this book a hundred percent. And i i think the the stuff about leary and his mother too you know. I think you called. Wha what was it that you call the shining that that king called it a crossroads novel right so making a choice between you know my quote unquote a serious novelists story. Am i this kinda genre guy and stephen king. I think you know as as talking about earlier right. I think it's something that pays off for him. In having a at least gender diversity of readers is that he says no. I'm not. I'm not making a choice. I'm doing both you know he. He instead of taking a turn at the crossroads he lives there. And i think that's really happening here too with larry underwood because larry underwood is in. And i think the comparison to jack. Torrance's even think about that. When i was reading but larry underwood's in his own novel that is different from the novel that other people are in here right. Susan adventure novel. Fran is in this like bourgeois romance novel..

"I'm very franchised But but Yeah i don't. I i think he has. Since that token is like the logical project talking was involved in creating this unified mythology or this fictionalized mythology that that talks about the kind of or history of of england. And all that kind of stuff. I think he has a sense of that. But i don't think that He's thought about it much more than that The the other thing. I guess it's worth saying here at the top two is that this is i. I mean correct me if i'm wrong. This is the. But i believe this is the novel that like makes stephen king stephen king Like all of his other novels have been successful but this is a novel that each breaks him into the highest cheer. I don't know because none of the stuff that i have read has suggested that but i will say this is nineteen seventy eight. The carey movie is just getting ready to come out. It is the right timing right like carries gonna come out next year. This is his most recent novel Gotcha like a lot of people are going to be introduced to him through carey and if they're going to go to the bookstore and pick up the most recent stephen king the stand is what they're gonna get. Yes so so. Maybe maybe it's less about this new novel specifically more about like a confluence of factors In having a pretty solid. I mean as we've discussed on the show are pretty solid backlog. At this point i mean you. You're not going to. You're you're not going to be able to read rage right like you would not even king if you did. Read it and so Any stephen king book you pick up Win kerry comes out. You're going to be probably happy women. And i should say also i think i think to some extent right. Maybe the stand does help with making stephen king stephen king Because if you pick up the if you haven't heard of the sky in its nineteen seventy nine and you pick this book up off the shelf. It is kind of unlike anything else that you're going to be likely to pick up in your in your local five and dime a one hundred percent and i think that has to do with genre. I think finally we can. We can actually talk about the the plot of the novel But i think it has to do with shauna. And i've weirdly enough become like a big genre person now that we've been reading these Stephen king books Because something that shared between your experience in my experience is that when i was growing up The only people that i knew who read stephen king or me or my friends who is the same age and we will get it from the library in. Everyone's mom like. I'd i'd not know until i was an adult right. I never met an adult man. Who had read a stephen king novel It was all adult women. And i think that actually has something to do with stephen king. Genre I maybe i i don't i don't think he's writing for women necessarily but i think that.

"Art is referencing. Oh yeah that's important thing. If you're a person who listens to this podcast but doesn't really care about stephen king in the particular and has no idea what's going on in the cover art for this podcast that is based off the original coverage or these mythical figures fighting and i definitely picked up the stand with the cover on it thinking hell. Yeah there's going to be. This is stephen king and medieval combat. A fantasy novel hellier. And maybe i'd already read is not dragon at that point you so i was like keyed in for stephen king being a fantasy guy and i got something different. So let's say. I found it kind of organically and was not directed to it. You know i didn't know. I didn't know its reputation for example. I didn't know anything about that. Other than it's a stephen king book. It's one that i have access to cool. Cover the end. How are you introduce michael. I've already said that. I my first steven king book was thinner And my mom was a a stephen king reader and the stand was my mom's favorite steven king book. This was what she told me And she told me her story of reading the stand and it was when she was she would have been a late teenager early twenties whenever this book came out and she talked about how she started reading it one day over over like you know the winter or whatever it was like she was on a school break she started reading it and even even in its cut form. This book is like eight hundred and some pages long like it's still. It's still the size of a fantasy doorstop novel. She started reading it one afternoon and then read through the night until she was like almost falling asleep in bed like the only reason she stopped reading was because she could not keep her eyes open so she went to sleep and then woke up. Unfinished the book. That evening like that is how like enwrapped. Mother was by this book. So i hear this. And i think damn that's got to be a great book so i search out of the stand to read and something else that is very important for my version of this story is that i was much more online than you. And by this point. I had by the time i was reading the stand. I had gotten a wrapped up in stephen king fandom on early two thousands internet i just i wish i could go back and yeah you this.
