"Is probably okay. If i'm a little bit as well the release of full self-driving beta version nine has been delayed but this time only a week because it was months time than it was two weeks every two weeks and now it's only weekly that's an improvement on. Musk has been tweeting to say for several months. Now oh coming soon imminent. Stay tuned Tweeting earlier this morning. That fixing issues before releasing its to the wider public in beats foam. And he says he's driving the alpha nine version. Get him he can do what he wants. He's the boss. I'm driving alpha. Nine says elon. Musk but we need to fix obvious. Issues before releasing beaten nine obviously hopefully next week full. Self-driving subscription capability should be turning on via the tesla app. He said well. The most recent update to version nine came on june the sixth when a musk updated owners with details on what was expected for the long awaited released one more production release of pure vision. They week and then beat nine a week or two later. it's also pure vision. That it used the raiders. He said that would have slotted v. Nine to be rolled out to customers on june the twentieth checks diary. Realizes it's lights again. It doesn't matter that nautica a tesla. So if you own tesla and you're looking forward to it let me know. Is it something that you will dive straight into. Is it something that bothered about. Let me know always looking forward to hearing different points of view opinions coming up on the podcast very soon. We will look at be investing in cutting edge data for charging stick around. We'll tell you more soon and of course question of the week gets onset. Okay let's fact check. The claim was the california instructed not to charge that car. I saw this floating around on social media and also on websites last week as a record-setting heat wave swept across the western united states in june the organization that oversees most of california's power grid sounded the alarm to cut electricity consumption at the flex alerts. It's called issued. By the california independent system operates on june seventeenth was Easing the strain on the power great encouraging residents to avoid activities. That draw a lot of lucky. So your air conditioning. Your thermostat stuff like that. But it didn't tell ev owners. They could not charge. that cost. there was a particular facebook post on june twenty-first which claimed this which of course went viral. The post said the state has told evie owners not to charge their cars that evening while the california iso suggested residents lower their thermostats earlier in the day to pre cool their homes and charge. They release earlier in the day so he didn't need to charge later in the afternoon. When it was going to hit peak demand it did not require owners to not ought to stop charging beccause. That was a social media. Lie and i wanted to bring that to you. In case you'd seen something british petroleum sorry. Bp owners of a network here could be p pulse also investing in more than just buying that network recently now making a seven million dollar investment in a charging company i teke through that bp ventures um seven million dollars being spent there a A tech company that connects charges with the grid. Let me try and explain this. I think i understand it. It optimizes the charging process by automating payments delivering cost savings and energy savings to customers. They call their platform. Iot dot o. N. i don. I often anyway. However i meant to say it. It allows vehicles from any av maker to communicate with charging stations and to signal when to start and stop charging the platform gathers information over time identifies patents and the energy requirements of every user across every form of ev. Charging my phone on silent night. Sorry about that. The technology also enables viana to sell unused electricity to the grid through vehicle to grid technology. So puzzling to die in the show notes. If you'd like to read more all right question of the week. I was asking you about how you plan. Long road trips that requires charging on route even multiple charging on route as well run run. Be from san jose. California says for single charging. Stop jenny's less than four hundred miles. I rely on in charging planners of the porsche tyke on the multiple charging single day i review the route on a better route planet Using the web on laptop for a better big picture or a phone app. If i'm remote. I use the income routing only then for multi family trips. I plan picking hotels and venues in this case. I attempt to fight hotels with charging or hotels near charging for example in chasm city. I found a reasonable hotel. It was only three blocks from a free level to charge up at a government building. Tycoon does a good job. But not quite tesla level yet but the co excels in every other area hollow to mark buckingham In new zealand he says easy the power trip app if you wanna check out pound trip dot co dot n. z. Not anything. i have got experience off. But if you are a new zealand's check it out. Let me know. Kimberly loyd says i'm still new to driving without missing leaf. Forty kilowatt hour. So i plan everything in advance before i leave. I'm probably overcautious in terms of knowing how can travel between judges billy lang via twitter said with the best planning in the world you cannot predict charge unreliability so you have to stay on your toes and be prepared to reroute on route. Jonathan matthews said one of the best things about my tesla is just getting in letting the navigate to the next supercharge many people. I talk to don't realize this is also available on tesla's website to plan in advance. Kenny strong says when i go on a long journey tried to have a plan a and plan b for every one of my stops is not always possible but when you do dry and you have to be prepared for charges to be busy or worse blocked by an ice car. Someone that ninety nine percent of us So i always try to stop where there is another option at least a close by says kenny. Yeah that's hard isn't especially if you know anywhere. There's a lot of charges to even think well there. But if busy of second choice for asking gonna law Leslie in birmingham says. Oh maybe birmingham tonight could be a. This is without doubt the worst parts of any the i've driven in a way though. I understand it because they have to try and collect tens or even hundreds of different charging networks all around the country hopefully provide a live update and then expect it to be good in every model vivey on the market. It's almost impossible. says leslie. he. I know what you mean when you think about it. Every tv hardware device is made by a different company. The calls are made by different companies most most. Tv's are connected cars so they do. Have a sim card connection to the internet in them. But still you and then and then. Those charging hardware units all operated by. You know unless you're looking at the big ones like over here ep. Paul's great serve now boyaca trustee electrify merrick's canada. There are still hundreds of smaller often regional or even local networks. And so you have to try and make goes all appear inside every car unless you've vertically integrated like tesla. It's a really tough job to do. But it is being done and certainly the focus of lots of attention and that we can't wait to see the improvements that the main thing to everybody who email this week for question of the week or is it a brand new one with norway dot com a question of the week you can also now and i'll read out your answer on sunday. If you could only afford one of these options what would you rather solar panels or battery storage. Say on one hand. Would you prefer to your own energy generation but then again if you could still energy overnight when it was cheap and then use it later or even charge a car. Later is battery storage better. Imagine if it's born actually on Father's Day, you only get a few hours left talent, so I've it's the best father's Day gift I could ask for. Yeah, I'm thinking, maybe spicy foods. They always say spicy foods might trigger everything. It worked for me actually know my first child. We had a very fancy dinner at a very It was very rich food and instantly we were on our way to the hospital. Uh, anyway, Alex is such a cool guy and Jenny Johnson and I brought the camera crews out to the landing because we knew Alex was there just this past week. And I've been going to the landing in Marblehead for a long time. It's been there for 50 years. But that is quite a face. Lift. You have going. You've got going on down there at the landing, Alex. Yeah, I know we've been We've been really excited. We've you know, we've totally flipped the S and P program. Uh, we've cultivated all new menus separated lunch brunch, dinner bar food menus with a really worldly kind of menu that all pull influence from everywhere and everything. And it's funny. You know the way it works. When Jenny and I shoot a show at the restaurant, it's like you guys will always bring out the best you have to offer and during the course of the shoot, you know, everybody watching gets to see a really good sampling of the menu. We're going to take a break, and then I'm going to have you back before we go to break. I couldn't believe you had baked stuffed lobster that blew me away and you don't see them often anymore. They got snowed on the mountains elk hunting. I'm not sure even real life pressure. They're all dead actually. Brian. Actually, Brian Muscle instagram last night also, Brian is alive time. Like. It was ninety nine degrees. My brother lives in Denver he calls me. Because, he knew there up there hunting ninety, nine degrees, one day, and the next day it's snowing that's Colorado for it looks really pretty though the Patriots of the sound that I saw. He replied stories and I said, you're alive. He said barely we're almost died from hypothermia. A bunch of new gear but I don't think they had like cold weather now. They can only thing. I don't think. So because I didn't see anything on social media in usually when you do your exciting. Trophy photo. These saas him, but they couldn't get in range. Oh is that what it was I think. So because you have to be pretty close to the boat, right? Yes sounds a whole different deal you need to kind of get within. What's been? How good you are fifty art? Twenty yards. To, reach out and touch the animal. Just kidding just kidding tag. They, all can shoot about really well so I don't. Yeah. They're all pretty good is probably pretty damn good. Experience Hunter Brian's been hunting a bunch richer sounded a bunch. Matt's hundred a bunch. So anyway, they'll be back today. So we're here just try to kind of fill in the gaps. I'm having a Buffalo. Brew. Cake shake where's Elliot? L. E. her car squid. Yeah. Really. Yeah. Brand new brand new BMW. Let's have that conversation. She paid bazillions of dollars for that thing and it's not running maybe she should have got twenty fourteen Nissan Sentra because that thing is running like a whistle like a whistle. That like. Down on the front of it. No. So great news I, was using masking tape to hold up our of my under bumper you laugh but whatever I did to finagle it worked great. I've dealt with lots of car issues. Entire life tape is always great. Zip Tie is what I used to fix it and by I used to fix it, Brian Actually zipped up perform me. But because the tape I was like tapes working, do I really need is the News like probably. So let's everybody at home needs to understand that it's like a rock guard. A piece of plastic that. It's totally safe. She's going to die. I remember when it fell down, you ask me. If. It was something that was falling apart and if you were GonNa you know. Sending before when in fall down eyed. Hook. It back in and then it would last for a few days and then I got to a point where I'd hook it back in by the time to the next place hip fallen down again and I just. SORT. So the tape worked how many miles you got on that car I don't actually. Almost I'm almost two hundred I think I think I'm in the high eighties been around the world nothing. I drove here in it. So from the Hampshire, so it's got a mouse. Yeah, I feel like. That's not bad at all. Pretty well in fourteen. Twenty thousand a month talking to your Mike Kaley yeah. It's a twenty fourteen, but I got in two thousand sixteen. So okay. Still that helps I'll be on attractive way ahead of that, you guys are really curious about my car most important Haley's like brand new Land Rover just quit on her the other day what's up? Get rid of that thing is it sounds like it's a great car when it works but I've had so many issues with that car will happen to it. So see number one one the first issue I had with it was I didn't notice it rich one action notice it but when I would turn it off. It would sound like an airplane engine like it just started up. It was the weirdest thing he was like it. Selling that when I'm at home I was like, yeah. When you go get fixed, they were like Oh. Yeah. That was a recall number two I was moving on I was moving up here in to move into the dorms. One hundred degrees outside and my family's in the car almost offs in the car, and then we're like dead stop and traffic. My Dad turns up the air conditioning just cuts off stops working. So we're all like sweating in the car. We. See that happened again. I guess a few months ago. That happened again a few weeks ago check engine light come on. And then I had to take it in Knoxville or my mom did because that's the only dealer is yeah and they said Oh it was just a sensor that's a recall and I couldn't tell me what was wrong with air conditioning until it happens again, that's a brand new car isn't it? Nineteen or twenty nineteen. Yeah. I actually heard there's like a lot of issues. Asked me. Well, this one, this one's a land. Rover. But I've asked me, he's like, have you ever had any issues with your car and I was like yes. So by and you? WanNa get I wanna get something that I get working on around. Because no one will touch it. You have to drive an hour to go so. We're trying to get rid of it as soon as we can because the more Mazda put on obviously goes down in value so and just get something around here that you can get worked on so if you want to buy Haley's crappy Yeah Land Rover you. Sound like that. But. It it's a great car when it works but you never know when something's GonNa Happen. Now, just thinking about what you said it's a great car when it works yeah you can't have that now. Exactly. But I don't know when the air conditioners are going to go out again, you know just happened so. Will Nissan hard body you have? I really like yeah, I really like fancy. Loved that car we. We've had a couple of altemus and a couple of maximus overtime in those things. Go One hundred miles. One hundred thousand miles jake. Joining this. Yes. Only offerings Mike over there. Slide in here. Slot on in a richness Jake Locker. May. extraordinaire something like that. Something like that. We have all kinds of questions view. We just can't ask them on the PODCAST. We were just talking about you. Oh. Good. Every time we every time we we come to the question who's responsible for that your name seems to pop up. You know. On bins, bbn, JD..

"Brutal for entrepreneurs yeah and I know they've been predictions that small businesses once they disappear that small business is never coming back that's not how it works but people who've had a small business and it put so much effort into it wrist so much I hate to see those slip away and I want to talk about how you and I can help so one thing is you know that the food delivery services have been growing like crazy they've been adding workers by the tens of thousands maybe even hundreds of thousands is more and more people are choosing to have things delivered instead of going to a place of business well you know with it if let's say I am domino's or I am Papa John's or something like that the costed them of doing a delivery because it's baked in to how they've always done business as part of their whole thing there's no additional cost to them because of coronavirus it just means they've grown a whole lot both of them doing huge businesses but what if I'm a neighborhood restaurant and delivery was not part of my DNA wasn't part of what I did well in order to pivot from my traffic being people coming in sitting down and eating in order to keep the lights on I may have signed up quickly with these various food delivery apps well all I'm hearing from restaurant owners or complaints about the massive fees they have to pay those apps and then the people doing the delivery for these apps they're getting crumbs I mean not food crumbs again crimes of the money they're getting very little of the money the apps are taking all the big money all the whatever profit there may have been from the sale of the food is being run off with by the food delivery out so if you and I really want to help small businesses small restaurants boutiques businesses of any kind go pick up whatever it is yourself more and more small businesses recognizing how much of their potential customer base is afraid of getting coronavirus bye polls it shows consistently around seventy percent of people have changed their behavior patterns is they're afraid that if they engage they'll get sick it means that if a small business offers a way for you to get you know parking lot delivery curbside pick up whatever you wanna call it you can do that at me this is happening with small businesses and big businesses I did an order from bestbuy dot com recently in order to online and it was like they had Jeannie sitting there and bottles that second order came out and they jumped out of the bottle and went and filled that order because it was just a few minutes I got an email telling me my order was ready and you drive over and you park in a numbered space and then in about I'd say three or four minutes somebody came you tell me what kind of car you're in all that somebody came out popped the trunk and they put the item in I drove away I mean it could have been easier that's a huge company doing that but so many small businesses as well I do curbside pickup of food the foods fresher and hotter if you go to curbside pickup by the way then if you wait for that delivery and think about how much more you're helping that locally owned little restaurant store if you do pick up that way because you're eliminating the expense you have for delivery you're eliminating the expense the small business has paying one of the apps and if you're thinking yeah but now I'm putting somebody out of work with the delivery service the reality is these places these apps came in higher people quick enough so don't worry you don't have a guilt trip the you're gonna put somebody out of work yeah we are answering your questions here based on what you post at Clarke dot com slash ask am producer Kim who do you have a question from this is from Edward in Florida he says Clark my question is I've been on a pension for about six years now I just received a phone call saying that they've overpaid me by about forty seven dollars a month and I know you a little like this again over three thousand dollars and they want to charge me interest on this money what are my rights please help me my goodness they want to charge you interest on the overpayment that's what I said I'm speechless because I've had the question over the years more times than you would like from people who have been accidentally miscalculated in overpaid on a pension and the questions I've had I've always been related to how do you know whether they're right that you been overpaid and what method to pay them back but I've never ever had a call that I can ever recall anywhere in my memory that someone was told they needed to pay interest on the use of three thousand dollars yep that is bonkers so what I recommend you do is if they have not been able to prove to you that they in fact did overpay you you right back politely and say how can you document to me that you have in fact miscalculated over pay and second you say I'm well if you can if you're in a position if they are able to convince you your overpaid if you're in a position to write the three thousand dollar check do so if you're not you negotiate a payment plan and third on the issue of paying interest they need to provide you where in the plan document for the pension it covers that you have to pay interest if they have miscalculated and overpaid you if in fact that's in the pension plan document is crazy is it would be you would have to honor their work their request that you pay interest however if it's not in the plan document everything with the pension goes back to source document it's not in the plan document then you pay them back what you owe but not a penny for the interest Joe Clark Caleb in Arizona says my wife and I have been very good about building up savings to purchase our next vehicle we have enough to purchase our next car in cash however my wife and I are young and were wondering if we get a good financing deal to pay for most of the car in cash and then make payments for a couple of months in order to build up a good credit history if you already have credit cards and you've established credit with other things I don't want you to take out a vehicle loan just as a way to build out your credit score if on the other hand you have what's known as a fan file where you have very little history of credit you don't have a solid credit score which would be a credit score above seven hundred if you don't have that then if you wanted to pay most of it in cash and have a little loan that you have out for just a little while that would be okay you don't have a credit karma account set up yet set one up so you can track a rough facsimile of what each of your credit scores are if your credit scores are good then just pay cash for the vehicle and know that you did hard work saving that money and you'll have no monthly payment you'd have to worry about look at moving forward Kim James in Georgia says I received an email for a job offer at least I thought it came up from within my school's organization I replied with my mailing address to my cell phone number and now looking back I believe this email is a scam and I'm not sure how to protect myself from future identity theft so if you've not done so put in place a credit freeze immediately are you don't know how sophisticated the criminal enterprise is what they'd be able to do with the information you already have supplied so the automatic go to his credit freeze it's free to do it's quick I'm one time to set up a credit freeze back quick it typically will take someone around fifteen minutes total to freeze and you can't freeze with one zero you have to freeze with all three Equifax trans union and Experian I can walk you through it pretty easily if you look at my credit freeze guide at Clark dot com and once.

M. D. it would be best to deferred you're giving till next year when our MPs return Kim James says I recently lost my job and I want to know what what am I supposed to be doing with my four oh one K. now I don't have anywhere to roll it over to so leave your four oh one K. where it is I'm sorry about your loss of your job I hope that for you and the millions of others who out of nowhere suddenly unemployed that this will not be and I don't see this as being a long long long term wave of unemployment so unless you need any of that money to live on the best thing for you to do is leave that four oh one K. employees leave it invested as it is and if you end up needing money from a four one K. IRA or other such retirement account there are special coronavirus exception rules that allow you to pull money out use it is you need to avoid paying a ten percent penalty and you're even given a do over there has never existed before where you can read deposit the money in thirties within thirty six months it is if you never took the money out in the first place pretty complicated rules with that if it comes to that I'm happy to explain how you follow those procedures you're listening to the Clark Howard show balance.

I'm quoting now, I hope that when I rejoined my family and friends that the country will be in a place without xenophobia injustice in lies at the helm of our country. That's a parting shot. Why are we listening to Michael Cohen what he and Michael avenue? Thirty two of the worst human beings. I think we've seen in the modern era, and we still give these guys microphones for them to spew their. You're a better Manny way, you know, who else is in there. The fire festival guy. Billy mcfarland. These Otis Ville. Yeah. And so is Mike the situation from jersey shore. All they're going to have a great time. That'd be great time. Royal baby is out. Yes. The baby's out James and Alexander the new favorites for the name. I don't think it's gonna be other one of those. Well, you don't what do, you know? Excuse me. What do you think it's going to be? It's going to be something exciting all over and different. Arthur all Arthur, maybe be like an Android. Janice name. Yes. I do hyper no piper was one was on our list, actually, hyper was on my brother's. My brother's wife's list. Why would be quite a good name? But then they never had a girl named the girl piper. I think the the the baby the first baby of Prince, Harry and Meghan is considered probably a Lord because prince Harry's not expected to become kings. So he would remain a Duke while anyway, we don't have a name on the baby yet. And did you call? I'm gonna talk to coming up in about ten minutes or so the Queen. Yeah. Because she texted me earlier, and she's like, hey enough with the baby. I am. I right. Is that what you? Wrote. Well, it was a mean. Oh, but yeah. Yeah. He's pretty convinced that there are dragons in the medieval times, he's he's saying it happened in the time of drag dragons in the bible. No, no. But there are beasts that every single thing about the bible. I'm so sorry dragons in the bible. Still sour about that conversation. We had dragon occurs. Twenty one times in the Old Testament. What can probably also be interchanged for serpent? So what of it became James? Well, that's the Komodo dragon, right? You don't know the bible as well. As you thought you did not the King James version. Just got all hottie with me. Maybe that's what they'll name Kim, James Lawrence. James? I don't think James is in there. You did not get swollen alert and end credit scene in avengers and game and people stayed and watch it sat through the whole thing. Waiting for the end credits. There never was when there isn't one. If you go to see it. Okay. But the new trailer that's out for Spiderman far from home has some of the same footage that we've seen in some of the other trailers. But there's a whole new context because Peter talks about Tony stark at one point and says everywhere, I go I see his face. I really miss him. Gosh, stop it. I'm already getting sad. Now, I'm afraid to watch the trailer for Spiderman because I have not seen adventures game. I will watch it for you, and and blow everything. No and tell you if it's it gives away anything, you're really good at hiding spoilers. I'm not good at deceiving. I'm shaking not good at that. No pretty open book mysterious is involved with this. And he's. There because of a dimensional rip caused by the 0 gauntlet, so. Just made my head hurt. Yeah. All of us to know. All right. We will go live to London when we come back. Gary and Shannon. "I think that there are many people who were already upset with a lot of political goings on the tarnishing of the presidency that someone smoke of just a moment ago. And now people recognize that a woman has come forward with this deep deeply felt truth and something that feels very, very true too many of us who have either experienced in the salt or a near assault or have been in places and heard stories from other people who have had similar situations. It feels very real. It feels very brave. And those of us. Who are simply citizens are organizing and mobilizing to stand up against it. And I think that we'll see those the results of that in November. And I think we'll continue to see it for a long time forward. I'd like to take a call now. Thank you so much, Rachel. I like take another call this time from Boston, Massachusetts, Melissa, go ahead. Mostly their high. Hi, David. I wanted to just make a comment that really hasn't been discussed on none of us were in the room that night, but one of the things that have become very clear is that cavenaugh participated in a culture of sexism that was very much alive at Georgetown prep and other schools in the area. At the time, I'm a contemporary of cabinet and Christine. Florida grew up in Washington DC went to a privilege private school. I drove by Georgetown prep in Columbia country club every day growing up. And we know now from the yearbook that his senior year that clearly he and other people participated in a behavior of conquest and bragging about it that was endorsed by the school that was published in the yearbook, and whether he, he committed this particular act or not. We do know that he was participating in a culture of sexism at the time. I do want to ask you very briefly when you hear Republicans want when you hear the president's aids saying, look, I believe something happened her, I believe her story, but I believe him to and it wasn't him. How does that strike you? Scientifically that just doesn't add up. There's no evidence of that. The trauma survivors who have very vivid memories have mistaken identity. There's no scientific evidence to to demonstrate it. That would be true Mussa. Thank you so much for your call in for your personal perspective on that team's home in a tick a moment. You know, you've heard from a couple of callers here who've talked about what disturbs in them to female callers, and the idea of repercussions is this likely to shape in the minute. We have left in this segment what we are to expect some weeks from now in the midterms, I think there's going to be a historic gender gap. I think what's going to happen is Democrats are going to win the battle in November. Republicans are going to win the war. It looks at this hour like Kevin is going to get on the supreme court. He's only fifty three years old hill be there for thirty forty years. He may be tainted as Jack was saying earlier, but he's going to vote is a vote. It doesn't matter how tainted he is. Clarence Thomas has still been able to cast a vote. So I think there's going to be massive blowback in November from women. There's going to be. Historic gender gap, but Republicans will have succeeded in their long-term amo fundamentally transforming the judicial branch of government to become dramatically more conservative. James, James, very briefly. Do you think that this will then energize Republicans or energize? Men who rally around cavenaugh as some Republicans are telling me, I think that that's wrong. That's that there's some anecdotal evidence of that, but all the polling shows that this is going to resonate with women, and it'll be a big issue in twenty twenty two. Well, I Kim, James, and Jack, I'd like each of you to stick around and I want all of you to stick around. If you can. We're discussing this week's biggest news. You can join the conversation after the break. We'll take up President Trump at the United Nations. What do you think of his America first doctrine? Would you think of his reaction and reception there? I'm David Folkenflik in this.
