"Well, I'm Kim McAllister more of Chip Franklin coming up on KGO. This is the Rana Ones. Report on KGO a 10. The voice of reason for 45 years and member of the National Radio Hall of Fame, gears, Rano and understand that along with most everyone else in the United States, I hate face masks, but there's no denying they truly did help us get through the worst of the Covid 19 crisis. Like most everyone else, I followed the law, but I can't say I love the way mass feel I never could really breathe well while wearing them. And I confess that more often than not, I walked out of the house without remembering to wear a mask. Then as a turn around, go back inside to get one on those rare times that actually ventured out while we were sheltered in place, Okay, I don't want to wear mess. So what? Who does well, I'll give you 83 people who really don't like to those would be the 83 people who finds this year from the FAA for refusing to comply with mass mandates. Add up to $682,000. The individual finds range from 7500 to $21,500 What happens to passengers who gets such fines? They're entitled to request the lower penalty, a meeting with the FAA or hearing with an administrative law judge. They can also show their otherwise unable to pay the fine. The FAA has been issuing more fines because it's seemly disturbing increase in incidents where airline passengers have disrupted flights with threatening or violent behavior over the wearing a face mask. A typical example is what happened on an Allegiant Air flight in February, Going from Provo, Utah, to Mesa, Arizona Amount passenger was told seven times that he needed to wear his mask correctly covering his nose. Seven times, But each time you put it on without covering his nose and took it off the moment the flight attendant walked away, he said. Covering the mouth was all that was needed. Then I argued with her and refused to provide his identification. The airplane lands as he disembarks. He touches the flight attendant while asserting that she was aggressive about the face masks policy. His behavior intimidated her. And made her cry. He's been fined $10,500. This is part of the new zero tolerance campaign by the F A. I think they're right to issue these fines and to publicize what they're doing. First of all when you're in the year, a flight attendant has the right to ask you to obey. The law does have the losses. You must wear a mask. You need to wear it. Period. If you don't like the law work to change it. Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky is vowing to do just that. Paul says he'll be introducing an immediate repeal of the mass mandate on planes, he wrote on Twitter enough. Time to stop this forest and let people travel in peace. Paul has also said he will not get the coronavirus vaccine because they already had covid 19, and he's criticized by the administration's efforts to push more Americans to get.

One of the things that was notable was that the No man's were not greedy individuals. They lived in a greedy world, but they weren't You know, that was kind of one of the nice things is that they just shared they shared with strangers. They shared information. They shared advice. Um, yeah, And that was kind of nice. Yeah, In self things. They sometimes traded things, but, yeah, they were good people who I think society tossed out. Frankly, I know you feel differently, but that's what I think. Okay, so let's talk about some of these other movies here Now I want to bring up one that I was particularly interested in, and this one is called. Under God's Oh, good Run. We're on the subject of bleak and grim, um, that those air the first two adjectives that come to mind when I think of under under God's, but But anyway, this is a futuristic, dystopian sort of Sci fi thriller Fantasy drama with an impossible to describe plot Pat. So I'm not even gonna go there except to add that this this movie, it's a kind of a collection of tales, which kind of sort of merge and connect at some point, in kind of sort of converts the main tail being of these two men who roam the desolate streets of a post apocalyptic world on the lookout. Corpses, which they can sell for money and meet. Yeah, to be to be consumed Yuck shades of Sweeney Todd, and then they're also I know, I know, I know. "Good afternoon I'm pad thirst and Kim McAllister's here with me, uh, Mom's and but you know the issue of bullying. It's not just something that mom's care about. It's something kids certainly care about. It's something that Dad's care about siblings care about grand parents care about, and school officials tend to care about police officers care about. Um, I don't know a lot about bullies. I don't know how you deal with bullies. Like I said. Previously I talked with listeners who were bullied in their youth. And it was so I opening because, as we were having that conversation, there were number people called in and said I was a bully. I was a bully and I'm so sorry for the things that I did. I was a bully. When I look back at what I done I have done. I'm so ashamed. And you know, there's pain that's actually caused the other kids and bullying takes A different forms. When it comes to kids now in schools. How is bullying generally manifest? Is it something that is actual physical violence? Like what happened to Diego stoles? Or is it something that's more likely a threat of violence and intimidation? Stealing? You know lunches and things like that? And is it more often that it occurs in groups rather than one individual? Who is a bully? You know, when I was growing up all the way through school, I have five brothers. People pick on me. No. My brothers were really protective of me. I never had to deal with bullies. And my brothers weren't bullied either. As far as I know, I mean, they were, you know. Tall, strapping, athletic, strong kids. I don't I don't know. Do they pick on people who are are weak, So I picked up a piece this morning, Kim and they tell me, um There's a number of reasons, and I'm sure that this is not totally accurate, but their number reasons that kids do become bullies. One is that the kid has problems at home, too, is that the kid is attempting to show social status and gain popularity. The people who are already the center of attention, the people already the most popular, they are much less likely to believe than the kids who are trying to get there. I don't know if they're showing off and they think it impresses someone, and it's going to elevate their status is what sounds like Like the third reason they give us that the kid thinks he himself is weak, and if he bullies someone else, it makes him look stronger, Feel stronger. That means this is a kid who's in secured himself. The fourth is the kids being pressured by peers to act like a jerk. The fifth is the kid who used to be bullied, he bullies because he used to be bullied. So he picks on somebody who's weaker than he is as a way sort of two. I guess reassure himself of his own strength because he's been a victim of bullying. Like a pecking order. Yeah, and the sixth one is the one that scares me. The most those other kids who have no empathy. They actually think it's funny when other people feel pain, Feel hurt, cry are upset. Seven is a cry for attention in the eighth. His bigotry, which is probably the second worst thing on here. Um, you know, I'm glad it's something I haven't had to deal with. And I haven't had to deal with it with my own Children, either. You know, parenting is so hard already. But being a kid is hard, too. And I also acknowledges schools have a tough job, but damn it when they fail. The last thing they condemn you is with this school is done in to point the finger of blame at the family. It is outrageous. Blaming the family's utterly disgusting Have you had to deal with a camp? Not really. To that extent. I mean, I requested this year that my six year old not be in the same class as a little girl who was picking on him last year, but picking on him. I mean, there were kindergartners, You know, she was saying, mean things to him and telling kids not to play with them at lunch, But you two stop it, then. I mean, that's what has to happen. You have to stop that behavior that very young age. Otherwise, who's gonna know what she's gonna be like when she's in eighth grade. 10th grade, But the parents were really responsive and the school was really responsive. But I think every school has bullies. Every state happens all the time. And it's a matter of how seriously you take it, you know, And it's not just physical bullying, bullying. It could be mental. It can be isolating like that. Like, Don't play with this kid, you know, keep the Keep the kid alone. Um it's sad. It's really sad. And when I heard the story of what happened to that eighth grade boy my heart just breaks. I just want to roll back time and scoop in and save him and scoop him up and make him feel safe. Because you hate to have any child feel sad. Yeah, and and then on top of that, you know when the school's responses, it was his fault. He should have put himself in that situation. His family's fault. They shouldn't. They shouldn't have put him in that situation that happened. Schools or schools or strapped for money. They don't want to pay out to that family. I understand so don't increase their pain. Right? They this case in this case, they need to pay out. This is their mistake. This is they did this Let's go The phones 80 88 tennis, the telephone number 808 oa 10. Let's go. Lisa in Pleasant Hill first. Lisa. Hi. Welcome to K G O. Lisa, are you there? There you are. I am here. Okay. Sorry. I wasn't able to hear you for a minute. But I hear you now go ahead. Yeah, I thought I'd share with you a situation about when my son was being bullied by our neighbor. So there was this little girl in the neighborhood who just kept orchestrating the event that would Leave my son out. So while while she wasn't necessarily beating up on him, she would do things like okay, Everybody else gets a turn first. And as soon as it came to my son's turn, she ended the game or that little rat. Or do something like, okay, we're gonna split up into teams and everybody was on her team. And my son was the only one on his team. So my son came. Yeah, apparently how old were they at this point? E my son with maybe seven or so and she was a little older, Maybe nine. Okay, And so what happened? So when he came in to tell me about this unfair team situation, I came out and I asked the little girl, you know, tell me about the rules of the game, and she told me this is the way it had to be everybody on her team and Eric on his own, And I said she, I don't think that's very fair. So I'm going to rewrite the rules. And I one by one the gates of the other kids and put them on Eric's team and left her alone on defend for herself. Okay, She started screaming and crying and yelling at me and then finally went home. Did she continue the bullying after that she did, and I talked to her parents, and I said, Hey, why don't you come up to my household? There's some ice cream or something and see if we can defuse the situation, And the mother said to me like that..

"Mark and Christmas carols. That's that's some money away. You have to learn to last more. Um, okay, We do have a breaking news story. So I have to put on my my non laughing face right now, Kim McAllister. You have a story about what's going on in Georgia. It is a quick one. It is a breaking news alert from The Associated Press says the Georgia secretary of state has now certified the election results. Showing the state's voters chose Joe Biden for president. So that is the latest out of the state of Georgia. Okay, The next thing that happens then is that the governor accepts that certification and hey, signs off on it By tomorrow at five o'clock now there could still be A request for a recount filed by the Trump campaign. That has to be done, I think within 48 hours of the certification, this is one where he will not have to pay for it because the vote was so close that he is entitled to have that recount. So let's get back to the fun. You know, as things break, of course, will always bring you the breaking news here on KGO, But we're in a fun frame of mind. This is fun Friday. And so we're talking about the worst songs of all time. The songs. They're really trying my patience they want to transition asked to congestion pricing on all freeway lanes in corridors with robust transit options. You used to live in All right. I did wear turnpike. There are many toll freeway and the turnpike's awesome. Do you know what Florida doesn't have a state income tax? We thought it couldn't get any more difficult. Apparently, we were wrong. Joining me right now is Bill Dodd, California State Senator represents Ah, the Sonoma Napa area, and he joins us here on KGO First of all, Senator Let me I think you do live in Napa, right? I hope everybody's okay where you live, and your friends in in your neighborhood. Yeah. You know, we're certainly safe. But there's certainly a lot of people you know, in the East eastern part of Napa County and then also, I represent Solano County is well back a bill. Fairfield that are still in harm's way as well. This is the perfect storm. Obviously, with this with covert as a backdrop to this, because obviously I want people to be safe. We want the shelters to be safe as well. Have you heard anything about the shelters and the protocol for with covered? You know, being such a big part of this now. Well, yeah, I have. And you know what? What's really interesting is that they're doing a good job in terms of keeping physical distancing and the other wearing a mask. But a lot of people are not showing up because they don't want to put themselves in harm's way. A lot of people are going to hotels that can afford it. Other people are staying with family and friends. So the shelters air not being You know, utilized to the extent that they have been prior to cope. Um, I I hope that the people who were told to evacuate did evacuate. That's again. Another one, You know, Normally in normal times, people may not evacuate because they're worried about their property. And now on this, just if I guess, you know, I understand on one level their word about the health of their family their kids if they have elderly people in the home with him. If their elderly themselves all these things play out in this. Um But what are you hearing about the the next few days on and the I guess. A specter of the Northern Bay Area's applies to your constituents. Well, you know what we're watching, of course, is the winds and I was just in the Emergency operations Center and Fairfield guts in Solano County and got a briefing from The chief was in charge there.
