"Coming up in about three minutes along with ours. And y the newsroom who's checking out some news going on this morning. One of the things in the news is a baby elephant Dow dicamba zoo what Jeff is my name's sitting in this chair for for Joe Riley as Joe takes time off. I was just talking a moment ago about what's going on within the Columbus division. Police. Our police chief Kim Jacobs. It was announced as retiring in February. Part of that is because of compensation in what they call a drop that it's just more beneficial for her to do that seven years in that chair. She's done a great job with their handcuffs on the handcuffs from our on her from the mayor yesterday. I hit a raw nerve as I talked a lot about this and the homicide rate and the drugs and the gangs in central Ohio. And I got several couple dozen emails social media posts from people within the community talking about one of the things I did see in the news earlier this morning, and it comes to light that you've got to pay attention to now that Christmas is over. Now, the Christmas has done and you've done your gift giving as I drove through my neighborhood yesterday. I don't know how many homes I saw the had boxes out at the curb to be recycled with big screen TV boxes electronic device boxes like Alexis and Google homes cell phone devices and even. Jewelry. I can't believe the number that I saw as you're pulling out of your driveway this morning as you're driving through your neighborhood. Take a look at how many times you will see today tomorrow, the next couple of days is a trash comes take a look at how many times you will see empty boxes, you know, what that is that's called advertising. That's good old fashioned advertising. And what that does is says to the bad guys. Hey, come on in break into my house. I've got all this equipment, by the way. I'm leaving for work. Help yourself. So recommend the police recommend.

"And I just get a chance a normally on Sundays two to four and get a chance to sit here and give you a commonsense opinion current events, and my sense opinion is Kevin Spacey. Your time is up that was stupid go away. Sorry, kevin. It's just the wrong thing. Another thing going on in the news. And last week. I saw story in the paper a couple of days ago about our new chief of police acting chief those taken sitting in the position while chief of police Kim Jacobsz on out for a medical condition. And the story kinda got shoved under the carpet, it kind of broke that Kim Jacobs. Our chief of police will be stepping down retiring in February. And the reality is this. I think Kim Jacobs has done a great job and leaving our police force. She's done as good as she can do with the conditions that she has to work against and when I say work against them talking about the mayor Marion together now, I expect I'm west side. Jeff, I'm just a common sense guy grew up in the hilltop on the west side of Columbus. I'm a hilltop guy. I now live in the western edge of upper Arlington. But here's my thought on police. I want to. Two things from my mayor number one. I want my mayor to keep my city clean and number two. I want my city safe, and I don't see either right now as you drive seventy seventy one three fifteen to seventy notice off to your left. And right how much trash you see on the sides of the roads notice how much us furniture. You see on the sides of the highways. I put that right on the mayor, whatever happened the days where you had the chain gang out there where in the prison stripes cleaning up the trash off the roads. I say we need to bring that back because our city is dirty. And if you're a business owner flying into Columbus. If you're a business owner looking to expand if your visitor in Columbus, and you see a dirty city put that on the mayor the second thing, I put on the mayor's this we need a safe city. We're we've eclipsed a number of one hundred this year. It's one hundred and four I think it is homicides. In two thousand eighteen why is that an artist story that's not been a story because last year we had one hundred and forty three homicides. So it's down. Right. That's a win. That's what the city we'll tell you were down to a hundred and three four five six eight ten homicides this year. It's down from last year at least ten to twenty percent. What you got to? Remember is prior to lash dear the city averaged around ninety homicides year. So we went from ninety or so on average two years ago to a hundred and forty-three last year. What's driving the homicide rate, drugs gangs, illegal guns? And that's what I expect my mayor to do I expect my mayor gimme policies that take care of drugs gangs in illegal guns. And this mayor doesn't have that this mayor doesn't have a plan because all he's interested in his community policing community. Policing is a buzzword for let's make people like the cops..
