Ah, lot of strength to the argument that right now the economy doesn't require 1.9. Trillion in relief spending will have to wait and see. In Tokyo, The Nikkei is up 9/10 of 1% and sold the cost be higher by 9/10 of 1%. So I've been talking about your positioning here Overweight AM an Asian equities, but within AM you're looking at X China outperforming Chinese equities took us through what you're seeing in terms off the recovery story in China, particularly as we head into Lunar New Year. Because I guess we have seen some signs that the virus resurgence is hampering this recovery. Yes, very true. We've seen that in the last pier knives, and we probably will see some slightly richer data over Chinese media. We probably won't get Like any will steer with the off off the sort of comparisons until the end effect beginning of March. So there is there is the potential there for slightly lower Daytona and we know that that's going to be more restrictions over Chinese near. You know, many companies have incentivized employees to stay so it won't be a normal Chinese near the shore. Um, but you know, we're not Negative on China. We actually think China probably outperforms global markets because of the GDP recovery this year because of earnings picking out because of some of the policy pushes when we get the Idea plan in not but China have formal rest of'em so much last year. We think other markets like career like Indonesia, right. India will play catch up and also other parts of the M like Brazil, although And in last time we are seeing, you know a worsening savage. And not a safe around the virus. Hmm. What about the risk here, though, of an increase in a long term yields. We're looking now at 1.11% as well mentioning on the 10 years, so just going back to that, I guess you know, we've been looking for inflation, but the risk that this could have here too. If it goes up too far, and then they'll start asking questions, but certainly It favors a balance more over the age of cyclicals wrong, then to the structural technology stories, although in the first quarter we're expecting technology tends to be very positive and the The pent up demand for certain goods is still very much there until the Lord is still quite elevated level, so there's also a very good support for that area as well. How much focus that you're putting on DSG when you look at asset allocation. Well, we don't did I take this much on it on the asset allocation, But we do, um, destiny, the other stock level. I mean, we have a number of the street farms. And you know it is an area where we've always looked at in Asia because with always seeing this improvement in corporate governments, it's really been driven by Japan into career into China on we know that those companies get a higher premium. We asked me a lot of time on the on the climate change on looking at the cover list of carbon schools and desperately to get overweight, the companies that have better Taliban and climate schools. Compared to the worst have really worked last year on I expect will continue to work in the medium term, I think, you know. Most investors and companies within the a packed region are really becoming much more aware, so it is. It's becoming much more normal. And it is very, very important tonight. We're obviously you know, see what happens in terms of Government planning, particularly in China over the next five year plan to see what that's going to do in terms of infrastructure for electric vehicles on in terms of alternative energy sources as well. So we've been talking about sentiment, and I just guess I wanted to get your thoughts in terms of what you're looking at strategy here because you say, think, investing, not trading and that's certainly true for a lot of people that held Over the past year. What are some of the favorite to stock picks and sectors you're watching? Um I think we have an opportunity in investing that we haven't seen probably a decade, maybe even 40 years within the value space value investments and do well on economic recovery. And I had no baby shape. Is it before we're looking at 5 to 15% will return after these over the next 10 years per year emerging markets and Australia on the few really good. We're talking about commodities before sort of Investing in commodity futures eyes, even negative return game. The cost of that is very high, but investing miners investing him anything that has exposure to the price. Eyes shape and we're doing really well. We're seeing a lot of issues globally last year. I think you have a lot of before China. China and other planned economies just can handle this sort of problem off. Trying a virus and some sort of global coordinated action much better than sort of the democracy in democracies and in capitalism. In general, we tried to rein them. They find solutions that work. And it's pretty hard to just stomach the random solutions of something that's so large and this was pushed with strength off China and their desire to sort of come out and lay claim as one of the global players. 10 years ahead of where they would have bean This is not anything new. He was going to happen. It's just happen a lot faster then then we would have ever expected. So how do you want to be exposed? Then? If the recovery in China is as robust as you say it is. I mean, how do you want to be exposed to either Chinese equities on the mainland through Hong Kong or in Australia? Um My chief stops, So you know, go to the market by a ways off the cheapest 20 or 30% of names that you can have in emerging markets. Um, in Esperanza's. Well, you know, I just write them because some of those will go bankrupt. You can't avoid that. But the ones that don't again to give you a very large multiple type payoff will compensate you All that and then just hold them. Don't leverage yourself Leverage will four. We'll put you in a very difficult position if there are sort of market run till their stocks are doing well. Will continue to do well, while the retail investor is entering the market. But what about March this year? Much 2021. Uh and and I think probably ram is the most improved. When they changed that truck in 2018. It's all new ball game, and then the ship. He fits somewhere in between. For me. I like the Silverado. Unlike the GMC Sierra, I like the only daily issue with them. For me is the interior looks dated. They? I've gotta know. Nine GMC that I own personally set up my Lake House. It's got 13,000 miles on it 09 model, but the inside The new trucks look the same. They just haven't you know, everybody else has gone to the captain's chairs in the front and the center shift console Chevrolet. I would suggest that you drive them all and see which one fits you the best and see which one you like the best Because for long term you can't go wrong with any of them. But as a person of the public you there's pretty easy access. You could walk right into the governor's office. But in order to do that first step, they all physically have to be there. Now that we know as with any session, there will be protests are always our protests on variety of topics. We're hearing from the normal protest groups they will continue to do so even though they're gonna be on a virtual session, uh, most likely if they vote to do that, which they most likely due on Monday. S history to be impeached twice Now, That doesn't mean he'll be removed from office and it's unlikely it's going to happen. a day that's jeffrey free katzenberg thinking behind his short form mobile video platform currently in the works it's called quimby in the name of short quick bites there's still a lot of questions about how it all work before its launch next year but so far quimby has been able raised more than a billion dollars in drawing some top creative talent laying low way senior tv writer at variety has been looking into what ob excitement is about quitting doesn't launch for almost another year actually it'll come out in april twenty twenty twenty but i think the reason why everybody is so hyped up about it is because you've got to story leaders one from tech meg whitman former e b and hewlett packard ceo and this giant of industry jeffrey katzenberg who was at one time the head of dreamworks and walt disney studios and he's really the reason why people are so excited about it right people are excited about it because he's excited about it people believe in because he believed in it he's been selling the service as eight mobile platform that allows these quick bites which is what could be a short for short form content that'll have premium serialized scripted content unscripted content news news and sports and it'll be released in these five to ten minute chunks daily andy idea is that when you're waiting for coffee or you have a dull moment in your day those times when you're whipping out your phone and you're looking at twitter or facebook or something else and you're just putting around phone instead of doing that you'll go quickly and you'll watch five minutes of a sand rainy horror anthology or ten minutes of an anna kendrick buddy comedy instead so he has raised i think more then a billion dollars to fund this and right now it seems like he has attracted some really interesting talent to make content frequency i was in a van a couple of weeks ago where i ran into antwon fuqua who were a lot of people know from the training day movie he's also made the equalizer with denzel washington and he was producing a movie frequency and he was telling me that it was very attractive even though i think this movie was gonna be caught up into ten minute chunks what is jeffries pitch been to the creative community would be paid responding to well a big part of the appeal for creators is he intellectual property because the way it's format it would be will exclusively license their projects for seven years but after the first two years be rights revert back to beans creators and filmmaker so they'll be able to go and repackage this series they'll be able to hopefully seamlessly thread together all of these five to ten minute chunks of these stories and repackage package them as a feature film as a two and a half hour project but they could then go sell to another service so that's really attractive thing and also again there's just see appeal of katzenberg himself because he has been so successful in this industry i mean an wants so i told me that sitting down with jeffrey katzenberg is like sitting down with the godfather yeah although if you look at some of the movies he made at the walt disney company and some of his animated movies there are some questions about jeffrey storytelling taste will save that conversation for something what is the financial model because a lot of people right now are thinking about disconnecting subscriptions that they might have to their cable or satellite company or who were netflix so how are they trying to position it financially and what do they expect you people so they'll be selling two versions of quip me they'll be ad supported version for five dollars a month and any ad free version for seven dollars a month and it sounds like a small amounts but you also consider that people are i don't know if they're near saturation but there are certainly so many different streaming platforms out there you've got netflix and amazon and who and all of these different subscription services that people are already paying for so that even when you cut the cord you've got sometimes a hefty bill at the end of the month when you combine all these so that'll be a real test will be deceived they can break through that barrier and get people to fork over five to seven bucks a month for this of of course they're bringing some real alias talent and that's where their strength wli again you've got a project from kia motors del toro don cheadle liam hemsworth a you know tyra banks chrissy teagan and you know i think the other question here is also whether there will be on de creator side resale value for them after they were allowed to take their project off of quickly or after they're allowed to repackage their project from could be and sell it to a different platform so if there are detractors in town or at least doubters what would you say is a consistent question that they have about quickly what is gonna be the obstacles to its success there are a couple of different questions that came up in are reporting one of them is do people want this model people were still used to benching on tv these days when you're going to netflix their whole thing is the bench model and it's this also isn't appointment tv it's sort sort of a a daily thing that comes on five ten minutes a day but what if i want to watch the whole movie so in that case do i just wait for a month for all of these daily releases it come on the service and then say binge watch them all anyway on a saturday afternoon a so that's definitely a very unique model that hasn't really been done before another question that people have is people are so used to getting something for nothing specially from a mobile device store people going to be willing to fork over five and seven bucks a month for quickey a get another question is will the viewership justify the cost there are some really high numbers that were being thrown around a believe entrances what's project is gonna cost about fifteen million dollars which is certainly more than you could say for a lot of other short for mobile video out there andy clippings model is subscriptions an ad revenue and that's how they're planning on monetize ing they're stored as a but it'll be interesting to see whether these dubs an ad revenue justify be amount that they're investing
