I mean you probably have to give him the four year max or whatever contract he wants but i don't know how you can feel great about that with just the state of his lower body extremities the past few years right like he's had now multiple serious injuries and i i don't i don't know if it's fair to say he's injury prone because i think some of this stuff has been like you had his odd situation you know. Have the joe ingles situation so some of this was just guys. Following are sticking their leg out into his leg but we haven't really even talked about like he has a chronic quadriceps injury that going back to know san antonio that it's a degenerative thing that that's only supposed to get worse as he ages so i think for the clippers itself because we don't know how long he's going to be out for next season right we. We don't know the severity of his acl injuries. So if he's out all of next season can you really hold that against him and look at it like well the first three years our failure like i think the first two years by their championship bus standards are failure in that sense but i think obviously is playing in that conference finals. Who knows i. I think they're probably won the series. And maybe we're talking about them being a three one in this series or tied to to whatever exactly you may maybe as the crib right now. so I i think we we need. At least we need another full season of collides to really judge it but we don't know when that's going to happen so But i i would say i want to more seasons to really kind of have a scope of like okay. Here's how the first four years of out and you properly assess. Was this the right situation or not. But you had to do it right like i. If you're the clippers you had to do this. I know some people say they shouldn't have done it or they invested too much. Paul george but i. I think you do this at ten times. I think all the twenty nine twenty nine other teams would have done it but We'll see it obviously is not gone to plan the first two years. Do you think that the obviously we don't know when he's going to be back. His timetable is or you know you know. Obviously it was clear that something was going on but do you think that the players and the team are also just as much in the dark about what it is wise dealing with and what timetable might look like because that strikes me as a bigger problem than you know. We don't know about it and he wants to be private like he's obviously had his issues before. Yeah i. I've heard some second hand rumors that the team has been a bit in the dark. It hasn't been anybody. I've spoken to directly but i that has been out there in. Mba circles just talking to different people about it So yeah. I mean because i i again. I think it's odd that it was a i don't know exactly how a c. l. tears work but it just feels like that's usually a surgery you have within a few days a week or so not a month later So so maybe they were just out the severity of it and seeing fear with he'll an maybe it's not as serious as we think but Yeah i mean i. I mean look and the truth is as we all know from covering the nba like superstars get that superstar treatment. I think hawaii is in the one percent of the one percent of that. But i think more so last season going back to two thousand nine hundred twenty. It was an issue in the locker room. And you know it's one thing it's one thing for a superstar to get that treatment and again it happens across the league. It's a problem when it becomes a problem with the rest of the guys. I don't think it was as much of a problem this season as we saw. It seemed like this group had a lot more chemistry. But they also i mean look how much they changed from the previous group to this group. Half the rotation new head coach So i i don't. I don't think those changes were by coincidence. I think they kind of identified. What wasn't working internally and tried to fix that. I feel like first of all koiwa wheels. His power in a way that no superstar before him has done before like he uses it. So he's he's basically just like all. Come here as long as i get any attention and you don't try to put any effort into building my brand or anything like that like as long as i don't talk that's great And that that to me is not like a big big ask of organization to have him be a little you know. Put them in situations where he just have to talk to the media as much it was. It was like that in toronto too. But i think the thing that you'll want getting at about like being in the locker room is that like why is like in omniscient presence on a team like he's not there but he's there and you can kind of feel it in the air now i cover. I covered the season that he was in toronto and it was kind of a similar situation that it was obviously in audition. They didn't have a two year contract. They had a one year contract. But there are certain things that were different to I feel like a wise started doing a lot. More when he went to the clippers just in terms of like you know he's gonna fly into practice everyday. Obviously you're not going to be doing that in a city like toronto But you know things like just when he talks to the media and stuff but there was also way more organization in terms of when he was going to play when he wasn't it was like obviously is not gonna play back back snows really only the only time. I really caught it getting out of the raptors. I feel like we're a lot more tight. Lipped the clippers on even though the even though they had that leak bush was probably drake in yoga. The bucks should do a certain assert adjustment. What was that adjustments here. I think they should consider bringing brook lopez off the bench. He didn't get a lot of minutes in game in game. Four played more minutes than most of those minutes. Yeah well they took him oh At the at the seven minute mark of the first quarter he had missed two threes. Missed a couple of defensive rotations and rotations. Like he really like there was there was one where he just didn't suck into the nail and it was like kind of i think i think that was. Oh that was a. There was a chris. Paul layup Rotations that were really just sloppy. That he should have been making and you know. I think it's reasonable for him to have one of those games He's been really out stretching himself trying to become the guy that can actually hold up defensively against against those two and it's it's difficult Shadow to bud for recognizing very quickly that it just wasn't going to be a brook lopez's game i think the majority of a minutes came In the i. I a first quarter like when he got taken out. And then the third quarter He started with them again. If that's going to be the way that they do it and it's kind of like a formality to start him and you don't want to ruffle feathers or you know. Beat you're too dramatic and actually bring him off the bench. I i completely understand that. Especially like they get to phoenix and they end up having a really really good game they win. Then you don't really necessarily have to make any adjustments but The adjustment stage right now though. The series is still tied to rarely do you. Do you think that they need to have to this. Game requires such a major adjustment. I because i don't believe so. They're not necessarily there yet. But i think it's something to watch We saw them most jaanus at the five. I think lopez is going to continue to tired. It's just really hard for somebody to do something unnatural for them for for seven straight games So i think it's gonna watch i would still bring. I would still bring portis off the bench but there is a potential future where that yanni set. The five lineup is is maybe starting if things go go a little bit sideways for so who do you swap in for lopez when that happens coddington. Cardington the five. Look because i thought. I thought the other thing that did was it also just allowed janas to like be closer to the rim while playing help defense And it just it just made everything really really disruptive for the sons like they just couldn't really get any uncontested shots in the paint for that second half like it was made things really hard on them in the thing with you on. Mike miller all these guys their number was called and they were there to deliver talk to me about the performances so far of the others in this series as we head now to essentially a best of three which team you think has an advantage with as diesel often. Versi them as the others. Yes right now. We have a situation of momentum versus home court. It's the best of three series. As far as this goes as the series goes early on phoenix. I would say would have the edge when it comes to the others. You have mckell. Bridges comes in has the game of his life twenty seven points. He was spectacular. Then you have the andre eight news. Technically not an other but still has an elevated himself to superstar status although he definitely played his way into a big bag this off season and then you look at cameron johnson has. The biggest play wasn't a winning play. What was the biggest play of the finals up until that blocked from john pretty much the only offensive threat since the sons went on the road. Jae crowder was utterly amazing in game for knocking on the threes only then have the greatest comeback in game four but when we go to the other side with the bucks this is going to be the greatest teller of everything in game. Five the winner game five win the series seventy two percent of the time. I'm worried about this bucks team when they go back on the road now so far in the playoffs. They're eleven to in games three through seven so they clearly figure it out and they're gonna definitely have to figure it out when they go on the road so right now as we speak. I have to slightly lean towards the bucks because they have all the momentum. Greek freak figured it out. As soon as coach monty williams realizes yet the answer to his point guard struggles is sitting there in a pair of ethics sneakers. Waiting for his moment to shine on the biggest stage already going to get a lengthening galloway citing number one shouts out the lincoln galloway the pride of the two two five one of the greatest people ever that i've met such a good person and he can ball this well. He needs an opportunity. And i'm not just saying this because obviously we know langston were slightly biased. However i feel like in series when you have a series like this especially when you go back home and as you mentioned shack always talks about the others. There's gonna be a guy who's going to be an unsung hero. That's gonna come in that. You might not expect and have a a game where he's just out of his mind. You've got john collins clin cappella you got lou williams cameras the andrea in the neil gallinari au congo and yeah. They got chris don but he never hasn't really panned out. They don't really got that true point guard off the bench. Even though lou williams is certainly you know been able to fill that role in some in some situations hurt as a solid playmaker as well but you know they just gotta get healthy. And they could certainly get back in this series and game six if they have a healthy team if they can bring back if cappella could just get a little bit healthier. You know obviously trae young as the key. He needs to play because he's so much of their offense. You know bogdonovich has been able to carry the load a bit. I mean they got like i was talking garbage about khris middleton jrue holiday in the last game but they turned it around and played an absolutely phenomenal game and not just them brook lopez. And then bobby portis. Who replaced jonathan in the starting lineup had monster games as well brooke lopez's looking like the nets leading franchise score with thirty three points and seven rebounds. Fourteen of eighteen shooting in his thirty eight minutes absolutely phenomenal his best game of the playoffs. By far and on top of that he had to steals and four blocks. I mean. are you kidding me. Brook lopez and. it doesn't help that capellas. Not at his best right. Now and brook lopez can pretty much do whatever he wants whenever he got into that. Low balki literally was just toying with the atlanta hawks. Defense like he just knows how to use his body and the right moments to nearly the draw foul or just just he likes getting the contact and it doesn't bother him and he led the team in scoring in this game. And then you had. Bobby portis also have a solid name. Went had twenty two point. Eight rebounds three steals and three assists in his thirty five minutes. A great guy to bring off the bench. He's easily their best bench player. This season byrom forbes. Gave some solid minutes in the miami heat series. but he's been inconsistent since. Then you know not having dante di vincenzo certainly hurts their depth. But you know when you got. Chris middleton jrue holiday and then obviously janis. When he's healthy. You know you don't need major debt. You can rely heavily on those stars and they should be playing a lot of minutes together. I mean when you got you know. All three of them are solid Playmaker solid scores defenders and can do a little bit of everything. You know. Chris middleton's easily. The best shooter on that team of those three andrology is not too far behind. But you know obviously. Chris middleton the sharpshooter there but man they could all do a little bit everything and you saw that in this game. Chris middleton at twenty six points thirteen rebounds and eight assists to go to steals one block on ten of twenty shooting. Drew holiday at twenty five points thirteen assists to only two turnovers and six rebounds on nine of twenty shooting. I mean both of them played absolutely phenomenal and helped milwaukee win a big game five genus on the bench. It really does not get better than that for them but you know they obviously need them back. Trae young is back for the atlanta hawks. The offense with trae young. There is just too much for the milwaukee bucks to handle. They need all their starters to be clicking on all cylinders like this game five. I don't expect to see brook. Lopez's have the same type of game unless there's really nobody because obviously okon who he's too young. He's not going to be able to stop brook lopez's he's just. He's too much of that of a veteran. He knows how to take advantage of certain situations. Different up positioning. You know he knows how to take care of that. Cling capella is the key to really stopping brook lopez. But if he's not healthy enough he's not going to be able to do it so you know you are looking at game six. I'm gonna look right now to seek will trae young be back for that game Says he out for game five then we see game six yet. Nothing yet there. He hopes to return for game six. But there's no word on that yet and for genius i heard he was like doing work again Maybe he comes back. i'm not. I'm not sure i mean let me. Who has really led this team to this spot. You know and of course it helps to add drew holiday instead of having bledsoe. They're like obviously. That's a huge change. You know a bigger change than a lot of people expected you know like i knew this team was good. You know when you have those three guys. You're going to be a solid team. But i was never expecting them to be this much better you know. And when they swept my heat it was it. Was you know it really hit me. That this team is certainly at that level. And if they get their It's going to be exciting to see what happens in the finals. And when i'm thinking about that it's going to be tight man like if it's the bucks versus the sons which would be really cool to see him you'd have. It would be tough for chris. Paul or devon booker to get by drew. I mean he is a very good defender in the perimeter But when i really think about it. I probably would want to side with the suns only because i feel like they have more depth. They have a different cut. You know they can play. In multan variety of ways they got a bunch of wing defenders. Like jae crowder like jae. Crowder played well against she honest in the semi finals last year. In the bubble. And you know so they have a big guy that can you know can put on him. They got mccullough bridges another solid defender that they can put on. Chris middleton and then of course chris paul jrue holiday that might be the key to this series if not maybe that de'andre eight and brook lopez's pairing if de'andre in can get the better of him there than i could easily see the you know the bucks having to change things up and and maybe have to put in like a genius at the five and and you know. Try to play a little smaller. I mean who knows. But in the end i'm going to be picking the sons in that series Hopefully that series doesn't start before my next episode. Because i'd like to do.
