Rattlesnake Rattles Use Auditory Illusion to Trick Human Brains

"That rattlesnakes? Yes. What about them? We see a lot of them this time of year. They had figured out that the rattle of a rattlesnake is a whole another language on its own. Okay? Yeah. This is out of National Geographic this morning and that rattlesnakes have evolved to try to trick humans into thinking they're closer than they are. So we think they're closer than they are because they change the frequency of their rattles. You know? I'm not so I'm not sure that I really care how close they are. If I hear that rattle, I'm I'm out. Yeah, I know. I appreciate you don't have to trick me. I appreciate this trying to warn me, but I mean things like they're finding out things that ground squirrels can use a rattlesnakes rattling frequency to tell how dangerous the snake is, and they know that snakes that have just given birth. Are more aggressive with their rattles. Oh, I would imagine. So it's very interesting

So The Wall Street Journal reporting that this die all investment company Wants to, perhaps by a portion of the Kings and other teams. Do we know anything about die? All who are they? You know, they're part of a unit of a newly public company called Blue Owl Capital. You know, these are all these are companies just I mean, there's so much money out there that people are just looking for new ways to invest it. For longer term growth. And in this case what their their strategy is to go out and buy about 5% of maybe six different teams and see how that goes. And then maybe double that again. But it looks like the Kings are selling a 5% stake to dial capital for 1.5 billion. I'm sorry not in 41.5 billion, but at evaluation of 1.5 billion Um and this. Supposedly they have a similar deal already in place with the Phoenix Suns, which are a market market about the size of Sacramento. However, their team obviously doing much better than Than ours in that they're still playing there in the NBA finals, actually, but they hope to, uh, to to do it with a number of other teams to we don't we do not know if this is the vector on the D V, a selling 5% of his stake. Or whether it's every owner selling 5% of the entire stake in aggregate. But it'll be interesting to see how the league reacts to this because, remember the league put in place new rules after the King's last Kings deal with the Blues because there were so many community owners they didn't want to have to deal with that many owners so Still waiting to hear if the league has any problem with this market overall today, higher building on all time highs set on Friday. "Your pocket. Why have propane prices risen so much this year? Wall Street Journal reporter Ryan. December, says that there are a couple of primary reasons number one, he says the stay at home orders so propane, unlike oil demand remained steady throughout the pandemic. It didn't plunge and the reason for that is around the world. A lot of people use it for cooking at home, and, of course, being at home, and you know, people were cooking just as much as ever. They were also heating their homes a lot more because they weren't going to work. For those that that use propane as a a heating fuel. Okay, so number one there the stay at home orders, and that's what's causing propane prices to go up, he said. Number two Chinese factories, The other big thing that happened is in recent years, the abundance of propane That has hit the market because of the shale boom in the U. S. Has prompted chemical makers in Asia to build factories that specifically use propane to make plastics. A lot of older facilities can toggle between different feedstocks, depending on price. Lot of these new facilities only use propane and there's such big machines and factories. They didn't shut down during the pandemic because it really hard to get started. So demand really remain study around the world while other types of petroleum demand decline. Okay, so let's take a look ahead on top of all of this propane, also a major fuel used In the like to power of fork lifts all kinds of things around ports and warehouses. So the more we return to work, the more prices are likely to increase, he says. And he says, you can strategize with your propane purchases, especially in the U. U. S. People may want to fill up the propane tanks. Now, if they think that you know, prices are going to rise, which a lot of banks on Wall Street. A lot of analysts think will happen. And the reason is is because, despite the recent rise in oil, natural gas prices, producers around the world and particularly in the US are holding back on drilling. They have been trained by their investors to be, you know, focused on profitability and not just volume. They were really stung last year by the collapse in oil prices and drillers have been really shy about drilling and, of course, and we've seen big reductions in the amount of activity and that's you know, leaving supplies a little short, while demand remains study and in fact is booming around the world. Okay, not just Propane Wall Street Journal this morning coffee Coffee prices soar after bad harvests insatiable demand global consumption set to exceed production This year. Brazil has been hit with the worst drought driven drop in output in almost 20 years, so your coffee is gonna go up. We talked about this earlier in the program. You know the folks at the Federal Reserve and Janet Yellen said. Well, we think this is all going to go away. Uh, many of the leading economists are saying, No, it's going to consistently go up through at least 2023, maybe beyond. So we'll not only inflation but shrink. Flay shin. What you buy. The products you buy are going to get smaller. So they make the packaging smaller. They give you less stuff. You pay the same price or sometimes peanut butter, orange juice, toilet paper all of that. So they say, Well, we're not raising your prices. Wow. But we're giving you list. All right, Let's stop depressing people. Let's get out to traffic.

On a recent afternoon, a merry ad of law enforcement agents local state federal patrolled the levees and back roads near the U. S. Mexican border in Texas law looking for migrants illegally crossing the border. Jervis, a reporter for USA Today, has been on the ground for several weeks. He shares what he's been saying. Right Right on the levee right near the border is And as I'm speaking with him outside of his truck, I've seen multiple cars kind of darting around. There were troopers from Texas Department of Safety There were local believes from the Mission Police Department. There were sheriffs deputies. They were all kind of zipping around out there, and they were kind of helping out especially a lot of the border. I'm right now. They're such an influx of migrants coming over that. Some of these local law enforcement agency sort of routinely come across a group of migrants and they might they might stop him and then call Border patrol to like help them, And Jarvis says This is becoming commonplace along the border. It's always been like this. I was I did it right along with a border patrol agent back in 2019 around the same area like right around the Colin and as I was running along with them, they would get calls from local police department that may have stopped. Somebody that it'll look suspicious or were suspected of either being an undocumented immigrant or a smuggler, and then we would slip over there. Not everyone supports local officers getting involved groups like National Immigrant Justice Center say allowing officers to engage with migrants could dissuade immigrants in the community from reporting crimes. Jervis says he sees these officers is just trying to help their community. They feel compelled to like do this because these air, their actual communities and that they on, but they feel and sort of responsibility to do something about, you know, groups of migrants coming through the community, and it's interesting in these border towns. There are no laws. Um stopping police officers from helping border patrol like, you know, we have We have certain laws in this state that stops law enforcement, local law enforcement from helping ice or helping board not on the border because of the border. They know how that this water crisis This is they're very aware of just how bad this situation is. And that's why they're going to jump in there saving their neighborhoods. Yes, that's what they're doing. And they know that's why these local law enforcement people are getting involved. They're not getting support from from the feds. No, no, no, no. And but they are getting support from their local communities to try to help them out. You're right. I mean, when you have people streaming across property, and you're you're worried about your own family security because they can't stop people from coming in at the border, And if this crisis continues to explode in the numbers that we have seen And over the course of the last four months. I mean, you just wondered to what degree does you know the locals become even Maura impacts Well, and it will. It will continue because President Biden has lifted the refugee limit from 15,000 to 70 something thousands. Yes, I thought it was 62,500 was the number one Yeah, that's a huge jump. Okay, a Supreme Court ruling will force California to revise guidelines for indoor church services. Okay, if the case Aubrey Aquino has more on this win for churches, synagogues and temples, So Aubrey what are some of the specific details of this ruling? The U. S. Supreme Court granted an appeal by churches late Friday, and the justices ruled California can't continue its ban on indoor church services. Pastor Dan Garza of the Avenue Church has been more than ready to see his congregation face to face. Just kind of one of those moments were like, finally, yes, we get it. We get to be together once again and practice our faith, so we were excited about it. However, attendants will remain limited to 25% of the buildings capacity, along with the restriction on singing and chanting inside. I mean, part is something that still bothers me. And I hope that the governor and state California can we visit that soon and come to reason with us in that regard, but we're so We're blessed with the opportunity now to be able to gather Garza says places of worship can and have made the adjustments to allow people together safely. He just wishes they had been given a chance to be part of the conversation sooner like big box retailers, airlines and others who weren't forced to completely shut down. So Aubrey. I mean, it would just stand to reason that churches may feel like these rules were not necessarily applied very evenly. Yes, And we've also heard this sentiment from other industries and groups were guidelines effects. Some, but not all. David Court man is senior counsel for Alliance Defending freedom, he explains. The case for churches also comes down to First Amendment rights showing the states look, we know this is a crisis. We want everybody to be reasonable. We want everybody to make sure that we contain this problem. But what we don't want to do with sacrifice the Constitution while we're doing it with the court, saying, Look, there is a way to do that. Look across the board, bring science into it. And But make sure you uphold the Constitution when you're doing so. However, not all places of worship plan to reopen right away, NBC News reported. The head of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco said the Supreme Court was quote not doing anyone a favor by lifting the ban. Okay, Aubrey, thank you so much. Aubrey Aquino joining us this morning. That not altogether surprising, though given the ruling that took place in New York way were kind of waiting for this year. I think they were just waiting for the clarification, but, yeah, in New York they justices were split 5 to 4 on that, but they decided that yes, New York should be able to go ahead. And that was weeks ago, Right? Right. So no. It's happening here in California Rights, which just in time with the winter Yeah. Dina Kodiak News 93.1 kfbk, Why are dead? Kratz and Congress so anxious to impeach President Trump Do they believe he's a danger because he incited Wednesday's unrest of the capital, or do they believe he's not stable? Or could it be? They fear what could happen Four years from now? We may have been given a clue over the weekend when Congresswoman Alexandria Alexandria, a Costco Cortez, a Democrat from New York, Appeared on ABC s this week. It is our featured audio clip this hour in our Monday morning wrap of the Sunday morning talk shows. Well, you know, I absolutely believe that impeachment should be scheduled for several reasons. Several reasons. One. Of course, our main priority is to ensure the removal of Donald Trump is president of the United States every minute and every hour that he is an office. Represents a clear and present danger not just to the United States Congress but frankly to the country. But in addition to removal, we're also talking about complete barring off the president, or rather of Donald Trump from running for office ever again. There you go. That maybe the reason why, by the way as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, it didn't admitted much as much in a 60 Minutes interview last night. Said that one of the major objectives here is to make sure that Donald Trump cannot run for president again. They don't want him coming back. They don't by the way, President elect Joe Biden has so far avoided taking a firm position. On removing President Trump from office after last week's capital, right, he's not come out either way. Well, he did say something something to the effect of, you know Congress is handling it. Well, they are handling their gonna take up a vote. No. Probably voters early as Wednesday. Probably will. Pelosi seems determined to come forward and do this nine days left. But the question you know, really becomes motivation. I mean, do they think that you know Donald Trump is quote unquote off his rocker and crazy and she can't handle the office of the President, United States. Do they think that he incited the riot, or do they think that they're really afraid about 2024 on the potential of him? Come circling back around and running again. You know, maybe it's all of the above. It could be. I mean, she did, say Pelosi in one of her interviews, I think on 60 Minutes, said, Look, you know he needs to pay for what happened at the Capitol. That's not all that, AOC said in the interview with With ABC, by the way, How really? Oh, no, she talked about the number of members of Congress that nearly died on Wednesday. Pretty big number. Really? None of them died. No, none of them. Not one, anyone. We've got the clip. We're gonna roll that out in about. I don't know 15 minutes or so. So you'll hear that for yourself coming up in 15. Also, by the way, Speaking of clips, we got some brand new audio CEO of parlor. Oh, okay. They've been shut down, you know, locked out by what? Google Amazon Apple, So he's got some thoughts on that. Bush said that he and wife Laura Bush will be at the inauguration. This will be the eighth What the Bush is President Trump's being the most recent, and the former president says Witnessing the peaceful transfer of power is a hallmark of our democracy that never gets old. The old sleep train arena in the Thomas has been converted into a field hospital was one of several in the state of California, Kate because Aubrey a keen has been looking into the latest there, and she joins us now, Aubrey. Good morning to you. Let's talk. First of all about numbers. Are there any current patients being treated at the old sleep train arena at this time? As of Tuesday, 17 patients are being treated at the sleep Train Arena Alternate care facility, The California Office of Emergency Services, Mark Ghilarducci explains. The type of Kobe case is being treated there. They could be in an alternate care facility still with nurses and doctors at all, but they may be at a less medically required need to be acute care hospital and this has helped a great deal by Reducing the amount of pressure that's in these acute care hospitals by as having these these alternative care centers throughout the state of California. The Cal. Oh, yes, director says when they built out the sights last march, even though the cases didn't materialize, then they knew a time would come when the alternate care sites like the one in and Thomas would be needed, So they remained on a warm status through the summer until now. So Aubrey, the patients being treated at the alternate care facilities. What are the chances they will be? Okay, well, I'm told that these patients need medical attention but do not need to be placed in an intensive care unit. And this really helps ease the strain on local hospitals. As the number of available ICU beds remains pretty low in our area when we look at it from a regional perspective, how we decompress the hospital systems. Region. We flow those patients into those those alternative care sites. And the idea is is that from that site, you know they'll get better and that we could make a release on get them to go home and we may need to send them home with some oxygen. Or some some palliative care at home as as necessary. Asleep Train Arena Field Hospital site in the Thomas opened back up last month, and officials say they can accommodate more than 200 patients there. If necessary. Any chance we're going to Ah, get some of these Southern California patients that need care up to that facility. I know those hospitals and so Kaller are really full. I haven't heard specifically about patients from Southern California. But as I said, they can accommodate more than 200 patients. So it remains to be seen if if we do get filled up here locally, right, Aubrey, Thank you so much appreciate that very much On a related note, and what you were just discussing with Aubrey is this California Department of Public Health has now ordered counties that have available intensive care capacity. To accept transfer patients from these overwhelmed regions, which include, as you mentioned Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley is getting crushed right And so that if you were going to see a transfer of patients to say, sleep train it more likely would come from San Joaquin Valley. Because obviously geographically, they're closer, right. So at any rate that order has been issued. Across the state, not just for sleep trained, but for any any hospital. Yes, if you have an upcoming surgery, good to check with your doctor to see if that's still going to happen. All right, let's get outside and take a look at traffic.
