"93.1 KFBK Here now is audio clip from Vice President Kamala Harris, who was in the Bay Area yesterday at a rally for Governor Newsom. We're not only going to be doing the work of putting Gavin Newsom and exactly where we want him to be, which is as governor of California to lead as he's been leading, but we are also in this election, making the statement About who we are as a nation. The recall election is scheduled for September, 14th reports this morning, The protesters shot pellet guns at security guards for Republican front runner Larry Elder as he campaigned in Southern California. Elder spoke with Kfbk is John McGuinness. Among the topics they covered the homeless crisis. They need to get the money not to government because that I was going to bring the cat but through Donations from people like you and me who care those those. Those donation will be more plentiful when I become governor because I want to have a tax cut, giving people more star plus income so they can help things like that much more audio, many more audio clips from Governor Newsom, Vice President Harris, Caitlyn Jenner and Larry Elder throughout the show this morning, and we'll have more audio from elders interview with John McGuinness coming up in 15 minutes, former Governor Arnold Sports told CNN. This recall election is very much like the one that swept him into office in 2000 and three It's the same Kind of things that ready to people talk about blackouts, but people are not happy with education. People are not happy with what's going on with inequality Interstate. It's out of control the situation and this is why there is anger, so it's the same. There's no Arnold Schwarzenegger on the other side of the ballot is no energy whatsoever, so Newsome can hope And think quickly. Some, you know, figure out how to be honest. What thinking for a second, even as a Democrat? I don't know, but I mean, it's like in the day our people India in the race that have some really good Anzus. And they have some good solutions to the thing and then maybe they left the personality and all that stuff, So let's think you know, but they will figure it out. Schwarzenegger says. Millions of people are dissatisfied with Newsom's handling of the coronavirus pandemic. And with the wildfires that have been raging in this state, there is word this morning the Taliban will allow around 200 Americans to fly out of Afghanistan. Today, the flight is expected to land in Qatar. There's no word if the stranded Sacramento students will be on that flight. Coming up in seven minutes. We're going to roll out new audio from a local elementary school principal. He's working to get his students out of Afghanistan and how they're hiding in fear of being captured by the Taliban. We go deeper on that topic right now. In our featured audio clip time now is 505 featured audio clip this hour this morning. Nearly 50 people from the Sacramento region are trapped in Afghanistan. Including young school Children, one local school official telling kfbk that they are moving from one hiding place to another. Fearful the Taliban will capture them. There is an active effort to get them out. And until very recently, the Biden administration has denied that there is a hostage situation taking place in Afghanistan. But Secretary ST Anthony Blinken now admits that the Taliban are preventing chartered jets from taking off with Americans who want to get out. Secretary of State Blinken met with reporters at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. He is our featured audio clip this hour as of now. The Taliban are not permitting the charter flights to depart. They claim that some of the passengers do not have the required documentation. While there are limits to what we can do without personnel on the ground without an airport with normal security procedures in place. We are working to do everything in our power to support those flights. And to get them off the ground. That's what we've done. That's what we will continue to do. Specifically, we're working with NGOs with advocates with lawmakers around the clock. Help coordinate their efforts and offer guidance where we can Helping to arrange landing rights and liaise with other countries in the region. In the question of overflight. We've made clear to all parties. We made clear to the Taliban. That these charters need to be able to depart. And we continue every day. Virtually every hour to work on that. They don't have a lot of power to negotiate. No, they don't. I mean, they've said they're going to do it. Bite it, But we don't have an embassy there. So we don't have anywhere for anyone to go. They just have to go to the airport and hope that the Taliban will say yes. Your paperwork is in order. You may leave. Well, I mean, the encouraging thing this morning. Christina is the word that you just mentioned that some 200 Americans likely are going to be allowed by the Taliban to fly out on one of these or maybe more charter jets. We don't know the exact number they're supposed to land in Qatar. We'll see what happens and again. No word about the you know 50 or so Sacramento's residents who are trapped in Afghanistan if they're among them, which is interesting. I mean, we're flying a lot of people out of Afghanistan, or we did that are consider refugees that are not vetted because they don't have paperwork. You know, a lot of that. They just don't have any paperwork and documentation. So we're having to vet all those folks yet. We still have Americans that are there that can't get out. Okay, well, we'll roll out those clips from the local principle. Just a very shortly from now. Here are the top national stories.

If I hear that rattle, I'm I'm out. Yeah, I know. I appreciate you don't have to trick me. Bush said that he and wife Laura Bush will be at the inauguration. This will be the eighth What the Bush is President Trump's being the most recent, and the former president says Witnessing the peaceful transfer of power is a hallmark of our democracy that never gets old. The old sleep train arena in the Thomas has been converted into a field hospital was one of several in the state of California, Kate because Aubrey a keen has been looking into the latest there, and she joins us now, Aubrey. Good morning to you. Let's talk. First of all about numbers. Are there any current patients being treated at the old sleep train arena at this time? As of Tuesday, 17 patients are being treated at the sleep Train Arena Alternate care facility, The California Office of Emergency Services, Mark Ghilarducci explains. The type of Kobe case is being treated there. They could be in an alternate care facility still with nurses and doctors at all, but they may be at a less medically required need to be acute care hospital and this has helped a great deal by Reducing the amount of pressure that's in these acute care hospitals by as having these these alternative care centers throughout the state of California. The Cal. Oh, yes, director says when they built out the sights last march, even though the cases didn't materialize, then they knew a time would come when the alternate care sites like the one in and Thomas would be needed, So they remained on a warm status through the summer until now. So Aubrey, the patients being treated at the alternate care facilities. What are the chances they will be? Okay, well, I'm told that these patients need medical attention but do not need to be placed in an intensive care unit. And this really helps ease the strain on local hospitals. As the number of available ICU beds remains pretty low in our area when we look at it from a regional perspective, how we decompress the hospital systems. Region. We flow those patients into those those alternative care sites. And the idea is is that from that site, you know they'll get better and that we could make a release on get them to go home and we may need to send them home with some oxygen. Or some some palliative care at home as as necessary. Asleep Train Arena Field Hospital site in the Thomas opened back up last month, and officials say they can accommodate more than 200 patients there. If necessary. Any chance we're going to Ah, get some of these Southern California patients that need care up to that facility. I know those hospitals and so Kaller are really full. I haven't heard specifically about patients from Southern California. But as I said, they can accommodate more than 200 patients. So it remains to be seen if if we do get filled up here locally, right, Aubrey, Thank you so much appreciate that very much On a related note, and what you were just discussing with Aubrey is this California Department of Public Health has now ordered counties that have available intensive care capacity. To accept transfer patients from these overwhelmed regions, which include, as you mentioned Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley is getting crushed right And so that if you were going to see a transfer of patients to say, sleep train it more likely would come from San Joaquin Valley. Because obviously geographically, they're closer, right. So at any rate that order has been issued. Across the state, not just for sleep trained, but for any any hospital. Yes, if you have an upcoming surgery, good to check with your doctor to see if that's still going to happen. All right, let's get outside and take a look at traffic. Now it's coming up on 5 50, which means it's time to check those roads of Brian Nobles. This report is partly by the exit Jin temporal scan of the story on the road this morning.
